"Friday morning committee. Jason horse racing podcast brought to you. Twin spires happened to be with you here on this friday june. The eleventh we get set for a weekend in the world of horseracing and we'll talk about a fair bit of that on today's show. Ara buddies in the jury will be here to man jury this week James will be back next week. But it's just add scott today so me get me for that just means you get me for like seven minutes. More is all that meat. So we'll talk with them kind of close out our discussions on the triple crown and belmont. Ed had highly touted essential quality in was talking about how much he was going to bet. So we'll talk a little bit about that about the the odds shift laid how that affected his His wagers and There was a crazy story. Scott covers golf on twin spires and the edge dot at twinspires.com which is where a lot of content lives. And you know. He's he's golf shop and there was a crazy story in the world of golf last week and so we'll talk with shep about that. And if you bet on certain gulford that was not allowed to finish his round because he got covid and he was way ahead like twenty six beats ever. Let's talk about that too. Like i was thinking about like. I don't think i've ever. I don't remember having like a. You know. bet on a horse where he was in the at the sixteen police five clear and the jack falls off or you remember like fallen leaf at at gulfstream park. If if there's a really neat special that espn and kenny mayne did kenny. Mayne is a longtime espn sportscenter. He's a seattle guy though he's from here and went to my same high my mom and he would do these little weird things at espn. For years and one of them was he did a little story about fallen leaf and fallen leaf. If you remember. That was the one where the horse was clear. He had if i remember right he or she. I forget if it's a boy or girl horse had been erratic in the first start and would like i don't remember. I don't think the worst was going to win. But he was like in middle of the pack and like it was like totally logging in and out and so the second start the horse gets the lead and comes to finish and looks like it's going to go. Okay and pete literally says like you know no issues of any kind today like right as he says that the horse duck straight in goes over the temporary rail and unseats the rider and loose and pete and there. We go with the antics pete moment and call. But there's a really cool. Like i said it's on youtube. If you just look up fallen leaf can remain or something like that. And it's a it's a crazy story. But i don't. I don't remember ever having any of those as a better like any you know crazy sic beats the other one i remember. That's like one of the greatest beats if it for a mariners fan was there was a time. The mariners played the cleveland indians. I think it was sunday night. Baseball in the mariners were up by like a lot of runs. I wanna say i'm not joking. I want to say it was like fifteen one. I'm going to look at mariners. Blow twelve run lead. I think that's what it is. Yeah it was against cleveland. I was right on that. Okay good and that was the year by the way i think it was the year or maybe it was the next year the mariners like they. They think it might have been the same year. They won a hundred sixteen games so they were like a legitimately really good team and they blew a twelve run lead. Like if you bet sports baseball in particular. And if you're up twelve you gotta be feeling pretty good like i bet. You know the occasional hockey game where you're up like seventy two or something you know you can kind of go to dinner and relax. Because beckham's over and i've got to think with the mariners. It was the same thing but Yeah we can preview addition. We'll talk about some of what's coming up this weekend back. Couple nice raises churchill. I wanna talk about. We'll talk about the salvator mile. Which i meant to talk about yesterday. And then didn't they drew the race for the pegasus at monmouth which is on sunday and small field. Which i think it was kind of expected especially with manda lunar showing up. It's a. I remember thinking initially like. Oh it's kind of a bummer. It's you know. I wonder who's going to actually run against them. Then you remember like it's listed hundred and fifty thousand dollar race. It's not even a graded stakes race and so It stands to reason that maybe a lot of bigger names wouldn't go there just because of that like and so mandolin is there. He's it's it's the primary prep for the haskell and it sounds like that's kind of his target and obviously with the news last week. That monmouth scan allow baffert to run their. You know you gotta think he'd be pointing one or more of his good three year olds to that race. And so the haskell shaping up at least now as a pretty interesting one so mandolin draws post to and couple. Decent name showed up. I mean brooklyn strong. Who was fifth last time out in the wood memorial and was victorious in the rim stakes draws post one way burn who won the gotham and was fourth in the wood. Memorial is drawn out and post four. Doctor jack in lugano lugano. I don't know anything about lugano attack. Jack but if i mean i think it'll be an interesting race if anything just because you have your potential kentucky derby winner. It's weird right. Because i feel like in my head i have already mandal. Luna's the derby winner. Because i just assumed that the disqualification is going to happen for medina spirit. But maybe that's preemptive crowning so we'll be interesting to see what happens with that race and how it kind of shakes out and of course what happens In in the coming weeks as we get set for the haskell stakes which on july seventeenth at monmouth this year so amanda luna. He strikes me. he's you know he's not one of those you know. It doesn't have like a huge move or you know kind of a powerful kick. He just kind of you know he's he's just a good solid horse and i almost hold him not going by against him a little bit just in the sense that like felt like he should have but harrow. Charlie didn't go by and he ran a monster race. Central quality didn't go by. He ran a monster race in his next time out. So maybe mandolin is that good in his. You know specially gets who he's going to be facing. Maybe this'll be. you know. A big confidence booster form to me just because he he laid a couple eggs in louisiana and i can always be forgiving about those but it almost makes me wonder if you know. Maybe he's not all that know in a bag groceries so we shall see but that's coming up on sunday. Why don't we get to the jury. We'll get to scott. And then i will come back and talk a little bit about to some of the weekend racing coming up. It is horse racing podcasts. Friday edition of the program sponsored by twin spires the jason beam worst bracing podcast brought to you by twin spires. Is your home for daily thoroughbred horse racing conversation. Join host.

"Been interesting to have those conversations and obviously people with different positions within the industry in different You know have different opinions. And we all kind of often see our opinions through the lens which we see the the business so you know. As far as the baptists from it certainly quiet down in the last day or two. I guess but i'm sure what's the sample comes back. It'll kind of heat back up. It'll be interesting to see. If anything happens in california and i said before the preakness if they didn't allow him to run their it's like how do they justify letting him run in californian so where he's obviously based and so. I would think that that would be at least proof that right as of now he's gonna run in california as normal to same track ownership so we'll see how that plays out you know in the preakness afterglow. It's been kind of neat to see. You know rob our kind of one of the sources that certainly from a resume. Standpoint is is not particularly spectacular at this point he's won the preakness does bump him up quite a bit but there was announced that flabby pratt was likely to ride heart. Rod charlie in the belmont stakes and not rahm. Bauer mccart mike. Mike mccarthy was quoted as saying on wednesday that they were gonna take it day by day. Obviously they have time to make a decision on that we still have two and a half weeks till the belmont stakes and you have a horse that won the preakness the choice of pretty much. Any available jockey that you want. And i'm sure that he has plenty of options. I know it came out the other day. The mala thought was not going to run in the belmont stakes. I saw a lot of people kind of upset about that would have been cool would have been cool. The oh seven belmont stakes with rags-to-riches remains. I think one of the best belmont of this century and you know and the story line because it was the phillies versus boy. I i think that was the the battle of the sexes call right. Didn't tom durkin us out in the call. But it's just one of the things where okay we're not gonna see your hopefully some good phillies lineup against the cca. Oaks or wherever she may run next and we'll see if she's the real deal. I mean she kind of. I tend to think she is by real damage. Sean kentucky. Oh she's obviously the real deal. But i mean you know. We'll see if she's a bona fide superstar. Think i think that kind of accreditation only comes with you know a few brilliant performances in a row are really stringing together a resume throughout your three year old campaign. If not into your four year old campaign. I think Having a brilliant early three year old campaign is great. And we'll certainly get a lot of people excited. But i think i don't think people really annoy a three year old filly until she's kind of made that campaign in the summer and obviously made the step up to run in in a staffer horses of you think of in recent years that have done that. Songbird you know midnight zoo and Obviously mona moi girl have have made that leap from very good three year old fillies to really really good older fillies and it seems to cement their status a little bit more but You know the belmont stakes of course You know as we get closer and closer. We'll hear more of who's going and who's not going Sounds like Probono and known agenda both planning to go into the belmont pletcher. Says he's gonna run three horses in the race And so we'll see You know how he looks. Obviously it's a it's a race. He wants to win. It also says that. He's going to have overtook. Who was third in the. Peter pan stakes. But you know we're kind of getting to the other derby season as well It's kinda starts in june. I feel like right with ohio derby and you get into july and august. You start running in ohio iowa. Derby's west virginia derby's into august super derby's oklahoma derby's all these racists. Come with these big purses and usually the best of the best or kind of go into the travers and the jim dandy and The race at parx The pennsylvania derby is obviously one that has lured a lot of really big names in recent years but those kind midwest and midsouth derbies. I mean there's just so much money to pick off if you have kind of that good grade. Three grade to kind of dirt. Three year old and Sure lots connects kind of trying to gauge. Where they sit in the three-year-old class. Because as i said it's just it's such a great time to make money if you have a horse that can Can do that. A couple of other on-track stories. I suppose it was obviously the opening of canterbury park and immediately right off the bat. The ten percent pick five. Nobody hits it. So there's a ninety thousand dollars carry over into last night's card. Indiana grand had an ice sixty thousand dollars here. I think yielded four hundred and three thousand worth of new money You know. I it's it's it's really great to see horse players of course carry carryovers mandatory and stuff. I mean they're obviously advantage. Because there's extra money seed into the pool at that point. See it's not the right word. But it's really neat to see when people respond to those kind of traditional carryovers with the big payouts and the opportunity for a good score and then just as the track. I mean you know you want that because a people are playing your signal in your bat. And hopefully they're alive and hopefully they hit the ticket but they've also handicap those six races and they're very much liable to not only spend the fifty or sixty dollars. They're going to spend on the sequence. But maybe another fifty or a hundred or more whatever on the races internally. I mean it could be that. Hey i like my single here in this seventh race and how many times you've heard people say oh. I hit my single missed later on and they didn't have any win money on the single and and that kind of stuff so it's just such good business when you get those traditional carryovers an you know. Obviously you don't necessarily plan for them to happen. But in the game of horse racing wear goofy things can happen. Sometimes and crazy results can happen. You're going to get them once in a while and even if you just get a couple of meat you know if you're a regular you know two three or four month meat. I mean he can make for a couple of really really big days so glad to see that betters are supporting those places. And those wagers and wish indiana canterbury the best of luck. I mean it shouldn't emerald. Downs was opening last night so hope i'm recording shortly before they're going off so i can't really Say that in terms of. I can't really say what happened because i don't know it hasn't happened yet but Very excited to watch emerald. I i talked about a little bit yesterday but hometown track. I was gonna have some hometown. Pride there's great gracing folks up there and wish everybody the best of luck as the season goes on Why don't we take time out. We'll shift gears to a couple horse player topics ahead some articles to discuss emails to discuss In that vein. So we'll talk about some of that. And more on this thursday edition of the jason horse racing podcast brought.

"It'll be fun and yeah I guess we'll have to do with no jury on issue though willie walker this weekend. I ever since you told me that. I love with willie walker. Now willie walker. I just finished handicapping it. It came out strong. Hopefully we won't get too much rain and it'll stay but you got cowan coming in from overseas. You've got steve. You've got a couple of wesley wards next and rodrick drawn towards the inside number of the horses coming out of it. i think it was the palisade turf. Sprint keeneland so It definitely came up strong a full field now like i said hopefully the rain allows it to stay on the grass open. We joy derby chappel catch up after the derby. We'll catch up with you guys after this commercial break. It's jason horse racing. Podcast brought to you by twin spires. This is the jason beam horse racing. Podcast brought to you by twin spires. Ride big thanks to the jury boys for join us. We'll catch up with them after the kentucky derby and of course you can follow james and scott net on all the social media platforms. And i'm sure they will not be hired defined come kentucky derby week We'll do some looking ahead to the The weekend coming up including some michael gay fields at churchill thousand talk about the willie walker just talked about with the with james scott over belmont park. The the early parts of the saturday carter not all that enticing in my opinion but Cards a little bit better later on this nice allowance and ray seven Looking at bikinis remember that one was actually kind of a. I don't want to say wiseguy horse for the travers but was a certainly a considered horse for the traverse twelve or feel went off at eleven to one with code of honor and tasks way back in two thousand nineteen Only ran twice last year in twenty twenty and now comes back off. Layoff chad brown here. Going seven furlongs Drawn down on the inside but kind of That one american powers in there of course very speedy type me host. We know off the pace. closing sprinter type and t loves a fight. Who's been in. Pretty gnarly. Not good form i as did have that one decent second-place finish but a couple of really big crazy two feet for a horse. Who had kind of been for awhile. Pretty ultra-consistent made over six hundred fifty thousand at this point now but That race is the race before the elusive quality. Which the feature. I think is pretty fun. It's a seven furlong on the widener turf course You got some. You have a really good mix of a number of horses that are meyler types and really only one or two actually two true kind of turf sprinters tell your daddy on the outside a know much most races of five and a half but that was not been that good in the front run. The fed who's been very good has run in the last couple of times the run happy turf sprint at kentucky downs finishing second beat knows by imprints. We know a atop. Turf sprinter. I like to remind folks about this with turf sprint. There aren't a ton of like big grade. One turf sprints the breeders cup turf sprint. Obviously one of those in front run the fed brain a decent race to get six than that one after Kind of a bad start and being a lot further back. I think than he normally wants to be. I think the seven furlong distance. He's he's run. Well at brown he's going to be to me very very tough to beat But a lot of these horses do have certainly have some fitness and ones that that could be running from off the pace Casa creed likes to before they place. But again is is cutting back and distance proven strategies. Same thing so. I'm really curious to see kind of how the pace evolves in this race because like i said it is a lot of you know cut backers and so you know if proven strategies can get the lead going seven maybe maybe he becomes tough. Sometimes those milers cutting back but that might be a little bit of a tough ask but we shall see. It should be a a really interesting race. I think it's it's worth checking out of the race on saturday over at belmont park. Okay feels i mentioned Really good card fun card. I'm excited to To watch this car. There's a horse in there. That i really like in the seventh race. The golden poppy. We'll talk about the san francisco mile. Which is the feature. But the gold. Bobby stakes seventy five thousand on the turf course. Gdf's turf. i think just been open for a week or two raina to so recent a recent opening but northwest factor who was second last time out to keep her the stars. This is a horse. That was very very good at emerald. Believe on the got steamed fraternity as a two year old One i think another states there as well got claimed from the original owners david israel. Who's a guy. I used to sit with an emerald most weekends and Guy claimed they jump horse up a little bit to thirty two thousand and one at optional. Thirty two really fared well over the synthetic they went on the grass last time and got beat. By keeper the stars by a neck lead in midstretch so obviously a big effort keeper the stars of course grade one winner and his running in the the race a little bit later on the san francisco miles actually drawn post to in his six one. So north factor is kept pretty good company. And and this racist for seventy five. Grander you get some tough. Southern california types lts coming up from southern california been competing in grade three level type races. For mike mccarthy you got red lark for paddy gallagher who you know.

willie walker james scott Bobby seventh race san francisco seventy five thousand two feet two year old james thirty two thousand twenty twenty david israel over six hundred fifty thousan Thirty two southern california steve second-place a week two thousand twice

"Tracks visit twin spires dot com slash offers to find out what offers are available to you all right back here on the jason horse racing podcast brought to you by twin spires and police walkman our next guest who's the director of wagering development at keeneland race course which is currently in the midst of its spring meeting very happy to welcome jim goodman to the show. Jim how are you. I'm great jason. We're headed it's hump. Day is a. We're actually halfway through the meat now. Let's go so quickly. Fifteen days and You know we've already run more than half of them so downhill slide from here. And we've already got all our big stakes in our pocket so Going to be fun to last days in the. It's kind of funny with the shorter meets. I know that the obviously everybody's like. Oh yeah three weeks. Of course it feels short. But you know there's so much build up to it and in some ways the weeks before the season starts can be just as hectic as the first couple of weeks of the season but then like you say you blink. You're on a couple of weekends and and all of a sudden. You're you're mapping your your exit strategy for the for the meat. Yeah my My march is is really busy. Of course. I'm responsible for all the contracts here so we start getting contracts out in february. We'll get him back in march and then we opened up april first. And then we go straight into blue grass stakes weekend Then we go into lexington and Jenny wiley comores he weekend. And you just can't take a breath and Everybody thinks my friends think i worked to myself year. We know you work at april october. Now that's not quite true so it's it's a beautiful facility is a great place work. We're just so happy to have fans back this time. It's so cool. Yeah you know. I was going to ask the great one gamble. Of course was this past weekend. Which is a big betting event that you guys do there. And it was kind of curious to see how it went. I know i know. It's i know these days. It's kind of half person half you know via the internet and stuff but You know kind of your guys. I real contest back right. I actually the bbc was there too. Well we actually had contest last year completely online. Okay so i had. I remember july me. Our five day meet took the places. Spring meet so. I did a big contest on Bluegrass day which was in july and It was completely online then. I had a completely online when the fall would maybe ten players there. And then there's the bbc which was very similar so This was my first time back. And we had i think eighty five players on site and i had ten players playing by phone from States that don't allow eighty w like texas and Nebraska and a key and canadian players do that as well and then i had expressed bad. I had tv. Jia had four. Jay batson i hadn't hyderabad's so i had two hundred forty eight players spread across actually six platforms so it was a it was kind of a circus but it all worked out especially for getting the story. He had a nice little day. I was gonna ask about the. Is it more difficult. Managing tournament win. There is all these different platforms and stuff going on or does that mean because certainly technology makes it easier for the player but is it easier for you or is it a little more difficult it more difficult simply because you got all these entities that you must balance everything with i've got. I've got players coming from everywhere. the players at the track My ticketing system works pretty well and and they get tickets to enforce. I take care of him on friday before the saturday contest and sunday after the saturday contest but expressed bit To their internal credit Take entries right up till noon on saturday so i don't know how many i've got until John reynolds who works for breeders cup and and and manages a cup software that we that we borrow for this tournament and ties. All the Scoreboard together. He emails me at twelve forty five and since then we've got to forty eight so i went from one hundred sixty to forty eight expressed bet cells so many tickets on the last day. People don't want to put up a three thousand bucks until the last morning. Sure which. I understand and Tying together is a lot of work in the beginning but once it starts. I've only got eighty five players. That are take care of it. Keenum the rest of them are online and and knock on wood. I haven't had any issues with online. Wagering it's been it's been snap so two hundred. Forty eight is a great number. Thirty two more than i've ever had before so We did to eight. I think we did over eight hundred and twenty thousand dollars in handoff from those two hundred forty eight players. Yeah i was kind of curious to see about once the tournament starts what your role shifts to. Obviously there's the getting everything ready and stuff but is it really just a matter of being there if issues come up. Is it a little bit of just pressing the flesh and say high and and kind of checking in with everybody or is it a mix of kind of all that kind of all that i mean. I'm there in case problems. Come up. I even help them. Use their cards in the self serve machines Make sure food and beverage is good and obviously pro. Press the flesh. Make sure they're happy at keeneland. Which is something. we're always concerned I got to see what's cool thing was this time. I got to see a lot of people that i haven't seen years half. They hadn't been keelan since. October of twenty nineteen Saw some of the nhc you which was in february twenty twenty right before covert hit but One of the things that was really neat All sermon and bill sharman are too big tournament players. And paul in new york and and bill lives in the san francisco area. They hadn't seen each other since Nhc of twenty twenty twenty and they are very close and it was kind of neat to see them. See each other for the first time At a racetrack playing our tournament so I saw ray arsenault Tommy masses came down a lot of a lot of the regular players that had not been to keeneland. Then it's kind of a homecoming for us. We've been doing this thing for like thirteen years now. And it's grown from thirty two people to a two hundred and forty eight people and Feel the guys have.

John reynolds san francisco Jay batson new york eight thirteen years february eighty Bluegrass day jim goodman bill bill sharman three thousand bucks last year two hundred Fifteen days sunday Thirty two february twenty twenty Jia

So by keep that going my Intersperse that with guest every so often as we normally do we'll see play it by ear but Big thanks to everyone who tuned into the show this week and all month long all year long and all the last five years since we started doing it. It's a it's so much appreciated i am. I wanted to end with just a little note about something. I'd read a story. I i still get my news from the oregonian. I i used to get the oregonian paper. When i lived in portland and i've just always. That's where i've always got. Even though i've been in seattle for i mean i grew up here but even last few years. This has been home base. Or when i'm in richmond. Or wherever i just always read the oregonian. It's just kind of my paper of choice that i've gotten used to and there was a story about a football player at one of the high schools down there who had taken his own life at age. Fifteen and You know it was just a very sad story but you you you read and you hear about some of the effects of the pandemic the isolation and stuff that's going on and Just wanted to make a note to to folks. Who i i know. A lot of people are battling loneliness and isolation and that kind of stuff. And i have battled at throughout this thing particularly kind of around the holidays and It's not an easy thing. I think it's important to talk to people and to try to you. Know do some healthy things to maybe count. Try to counteract that. That's what worked for me. But again i can't speak for what works for anybody else but i know for me. You know taking walks and eating better and colin france. I got my thursday night. Zoom chad to every week with the with the with some. Oh my bedding buddies. "Types of tracks visit twin spires dot com slash offers to find out what operas are available to. You all right back here. On the jason horse racing podcast brought to you by twin spires and we head over to the land of the twin spires and louisville kentucky. Well just outside and welcome in durose eddie. What's going on. I've had some great weather here in the commonwealth. Definitely the type that makes you think akeem warming up and try and often looking forward to it by the time we do our next show. It's going to be march. We're i think we're two and a half weeks away from the clocks flip and forward Which i know is your favorite. Because that's when we moved from S t to dt right. That's right yeah. I would never i swear to god. I have said s. t. whenever i've written my entire life but because of you i actually am am now cognizant of win the changes and so i make the change and i've i've always advocated as well. There's nothing wrong with the year. P. t. you don't need the asser in the middle but when you take the time to put it in there i feel strongly to get it right so you're gonna do the three letter dance. You better be ready to move very well. Pat what big weekend. Obviously a couple of marquee marquee. But you know big events in terms of oakland and gulfstream. Park obviously pick night turf coming up tonight. We'll we'll talk about that as well. But where where's your attention. Going to be mainly focused on saturday. I would say card wise. Certainly the fountain of youth off stream More the back cap. I don't think i have a fourteen rates marathon in me especially since i actually be asked her way tonight for the The battaglia at all so That'll definitely You know they have some my. My resources hopefully not financial one so but Yeah i think. The gulfstream card in total is you know where it The most but you know. Obviously what oakland has going on the return of the central quality from a race vamp point i'd probably lean south west over pountney you. Yeah i said earlier in the show. Like i'm just excited for kind of a good old fashioned triple crown trail showdown and and i think we got that with the the. Oh connery's i want to echo your point about the gulfstream car. Because i actually just talked about it before the commercial like a fourteen race card is a is a marathon of mental warfare. And like you have to. I think you know kinda just is weird as it sounds like you of have to be aware of of where you are in the car and where your opinions are on your spots because it's just so easy to get you know race by race by race kind of lumped into it and with a menu that big. I think you could find some your opinions and and narrow as opposed to just play every single one of them. Yeah i think the big issue horse players go through on. The psychological side is Bankroll management and certainly the weekend warrior types of. Have a budget and really. Everyone has a budget. The time with their bankroll is but you know. There's the thought of while. I wanna make sure i have act the play. The late pick four. I wanna make sure. I'm able to play the fountain of youth which is the fourteen race fourteen. And you know really if like you said you really like you know. Maybe it's a middle pick three sequencer you're against a couple of trucks early on. I mean you just gotta be willing to put the capital up. I if you have it and that doesn't mean you know you use zero out by any means I think a of horse players still have that mentality of y. of x. amount per race and they don't vary it too much and you know you're you're you're not taking advantage of your opinions when you play it that way now my case I don't know. I mean we'll see what the toe board says. But i'm pretty much locked in on the fountain of youth because among my peers. I haven't seen the seen a single person pick greatest honor and i think he's the lack of the weekend. I mean if he's higher than even money. I'm going to bet of the win so that that's my target for sure. Well i i interviewed scott i chronologically even though his interview airs. After your so i don't want to spoil what he says. But i'm assuming that you know where he's leaning in that race. And i think that's interesting because you know i. Of course we all want to try to beat Beat a short price favourite and all that kind of stuff but to me. There's there's more reasons to go against essential quality that in that you know the returning kind of horse or maybe venus just a better example There's more reason to go against equal and there is necessarily Greatest honor but you know just from any founder as the race already and The numbers are better than competition. Yeah i i agree and You know it's it's a price exercises. That always should be you know. He opened the two to five. And drifts. the four to five out but the money shows up for all these alternatives and You know and it's smart handicappers. Picking against them. This isn't you know people throwing darts so I'm i'm hopeful. I get my christ. I think he went that race. More than fifty percent of the time. So sixty five by me. Yeah that's going to be interesting to see how that unfolds. I was a little bit surprised. They had the morning line at oakland. Had essential quality in jackie's warrior as close. I think essential qualities going to be a heavier favor. Don't you. I thought that going in. Even knowing the drawn with them once. I on black and white and how close they are numbers. Wise now granted. Those numbers for jackie's warrior. That impressed it calm. The one turn mile belmont configuration. I think the morning minded. Oakland has a about writing. Marcus asked me. If i thought there was a chance jack. His orders favored. And i think there's a chance. But i i think you know people even if he opens favored. That's going to correct. But i do expect them to be very close in wavering. Because it's very.

"Hope your weekend plans are all set and ready to go. I mean do we have plans anymore. I have I have a baseball tryouts for my my twelve year. Old team that. I'm helping coach. I told my buddy. I'm like you know i'm a little bit of a covert panicker so i said i kinda keep my distance. Is that okay. These he goes we. We gotta wear masks and you. You can get as close as far away from the action but i throw batting practice a lot of the day. So i'm kinda. I'm my own the leery of there so i feel fine about it which is Which is good lots of talk about. Of course the gulfstream card man. I went through it on thursday morning. And it's a wacker fourteen races. That's a long. I feel like you need to kind of go into that day. Like ready for ready for war in a sense because that is just a grind You know there's a lot of good races. There's not a tunnel like crazy huge fields in a row. I mean there are there big fields at numerous point. But it didn't feel like you know kentucky downs barrage of just twelve fourteen. Thirteen twelve twelve twelve twelve twelve It feels reasonable in that sense. But i really think if you're a horizontal play. I mean if you're any kind of player but if you're playing pick threes fours and fives like you. I think you really need to be ready for. Just just kind of be aware of where we are in the sequence as crazy as that sounds like i was into race seven and eight and i'm thinking they're fourteen co. I've even got to lay pick five yet. I've talked to some handicappers over the years on here. Who have said that. You know when it comes to two cards. They'll handicapped backwards. Just because you know you know that. At least i am this way and i think a lot of you are and i started to split up my when i'm looking at a card and really gonna look at it to talk about on the show. I usually break it up into two little sit downs because i know that by the six fifth sixth seventh race or whatever that my brain starts getting lazy. I am a lazy human being. And so i just to me that becomes. That's where the the air start coming in because you get lazy. Rely on more obvious information. You don't go back in and and keep watching the replays you know. You may be watch one or two less replays than you would have a lot of times. That could be the difference in by the way if if a majority of folks are kinda like that if they're real focused on the first few and they tend to loose loose focus as they go on carting. Guess what that means. There's even more room if you're sharpen those late racist to really you know extrapolate some value from those races and so The psychological warfare were near guys. Are the guy that can gal sit next tier. That's your competition and so Yeah it's a. it's a doozy of a card. I was watching oakland on on thursday as they got back to racing and nice to see them back in it and some crazy results early on it got me. I truly didn't handicap that card. I was just kind of passively watching was doing prep for today's show but it did get me wondering know. Oakland missed eleven days of training. And obviously you know. They've had a few and row where they can get going but there were some goofy results early on and it almost made me wonder like i wonder if that's part of it like you're just getting you know maybe everybody's a little less fit so even things out or maybe it's just a random supply of you know five six races that i watched where things were were. I'm always. I'm pretty hesitant when it comes to labelling biases or patterns or all that stuff and that's maybe because i'm so much more focused on price versus versus chance than i am just specific handicapping angles to win and all that but yeah you know. I was definitely thinking. I wonder how much that was was playing into everything but like there was a cherie deville horse that was the heavy favourite one of the earlier legs and i almost wondered. If part of the reason horses favorite horse had a good first race but then horse was training data fairgrounds. So didn't miss any training almost wondered if that played some kind of role in the horse. Getting getting bet down quite a bit but like i said it was a good first effort to so the horse made sense to me. I think was the morning line favorite but got hammered down like three to five or something crazy like that. We will have the jury in today. Just two guys though james Off today so it's just edit and scott and then i will take a good chunk of the last part of the show to talk about the The undercard races at gulfstream found of youth race. I mean a lot of our stars but a lot of big name horses for their divisions in in florida contesting those races. So i'm very much looking forward to it looking forward to the fountain of youth as well and definitely i. I'm really excited for the southwest. It's just not not for many kind of betting thing but just it's fun to have a little bit of a showdown between the two of the top dogs from two year old last year and Central quality squaring off with jackie's warrior. And yeah like i said should be fun. I'm i'm kind of. I'm weirdly excited for that one. I think it's going to be a fun fun day at oakland. Well let's let's get to the jury here first and then we will come back later and talk about that That big gulfstream card. Probably take a little while to get through some of the opinions in there but we'll have a good time with it We'll talk to ed and scott right after this break. Just one commercial early on here on the jason horse racing. Podcast brought to you by these fine folks at.

"You know so often the sport you can't you can't legislate an even playing field in racing and there's a lot of times what feels like. It needs that though because it really isn't any good when there's just so you know so few that are way way up top and so many others fighting over you know crumbs that goes. It's obviously echoing greater society in a lot of cases but It just seems like a tough economic system to be healthy when there's just so much top heaviness going on but again not my area so who knows but we'll be back tomorrow looking forward to it. Big thanks to peter yellow for joining us getting to talk to pete. I actually i was going to give you a little treat here at the end. There's just some words that going from a tongue position of like l. to thir- quickly is not. It's not an easy transition to make those. Are the ones where you actually stumble. It's not the you know when owners a lot of times we'll try to say names that catch you off guard but sometimes it's not those ones that are actually the hardest to say it's the it's the ones where your tongue has to make a significant transition from one one position to the other and so Anyway but I don't know. "Guys doing anything fun for For your valentine's on sunday sunday feels like kind of a bad day for valentine's right. You can't like go out for a late date. I mean you can't go out anyway. So i guess it's all it's all the same anyways right can't go out kick go have fun. I did go. Get some Some hockey last night. I didn't realize for years. I think i've mentioned this show before. I didn't know growing up the chicken. Teriyaki is a very seattle thing. I mean it's obviously not necessarily born here. I mean i heard. I've been told that it was but i don't. I don't know the whole history about it. But when i moved to portland i remember asking somebody like. Hey where's the teriyaki places. And they're like oh. There's one of those and you know lloyd center. I'm like oh that's like ten miles away because they're on every corner in seattle and the metro area like they're everywhere and it's just chicken cooked with teriyaki sauce next to rice and like the world's worst salad like completely bag salad terrible salad but it was always so cheap and some of them are so good. I still remember university. The kings teriyaki unbelievable but i had. I haven't had teriyaki forever. And i had to had it yesterday and i even had for lunch today because i had leftovers. It was glorious. If you ever make your way to see it. I know they have at other places but it's just not it's not quite the same as it is here in terms of like it's just everywhere appear so i was trying to convince a friend the other day he was talking about how we hadn't been to to this area and even fact joe back. I was talking to yesterday. He was saying he'd always wanted to come up here like i try not to tell people this but like it's washington is a really great place. I'm obviously very biased. But i think it's the best state and land and i've been to almost all of them at this point and But i try you try to keep quiet you so many people moved here the last twenty years gotta keep calm down but i mean for a vacation place in the summer here between the outdoors stuff and the city. I mean it's just. It's unbelievably awesome and it kind of sucks. That my time. That i spent here at least the last few years has been the winter and the fall but you know we all make our our choices are sacrifices but looking forward to a lot of stuff to talk about today of course. oakland canceling so fairgrounds. Yesterday ended up canceling on the thursday card. They got so much rain. The video was unbelievable to watch. How much raina was tom. Morley tweeted that they got twenty eight inches in the last twenty eight minutes of rain. And i'm really curious to see what that's going to do to that saturday card Obviously if it stops raining they shouldn't have any problem running the turf will certainly be a question. Mark but You know with oaklawn cancelled figures to be not only a big day fairgrounds which it would have been anyways but you're talking about that frees up multiple millions of dollars and handle for everybody else to kind of kind of fight over for that particular day and certainly fairgrounds possibly gulfstream and maybe laurel would would lulls or lure some of that morning slash midday money. We will talk a little bit about. Laurels the stakes laden program including the run. Happy barbara fritschi stakes. Seven furlongs and the general george stakes at seven furlongs as well couple of seven furlong races and some competitive fields. I think should be pretty funding laura. We'll talk a little el camino real derby The santa monica this year santa anita came up really interesting. You have a number of horses you know the top many finishers out of the la brea. What is it the top least the top three and maybe more Coming out of the fifth place finisher as well coming out of that race but a big field of eleven. I think set to go. I think there was one scratch early i think perfect. Pharaoh's heart. I think is scratched out but Big field seven furlong turf sprint. What you know the la brea. I'll talk about later because it's one of those races. I think that the videotape tells us a few things and so Want to discuss that a little. Bit more We'll talk a little bit about the outcome. No with james. I was just having a hell of a time getting creative in this race. We'll talk about kind of you know when because that's something you're presented with sometimes race on paper just looks like it goes through chalk and so we'll talk a little bit more about that a little bit later on but let's take a one quick commercial time out we'll get to the jury and then i'll talk about a lot of those racist coming up on friday edition of jason horse racing. "Mean or being critical just to be critical coming at it from a you know. I want to see what they did. And what i would do different if i had their same opinions because you know the opinion part. The handicapping part is very subjective. And so if i'm looking at a race and i see you know john q. Twitter guy likes this horse horse in this horse and he goes three by three by three and a pick three. And i'm thinking well you know you now you have twenty seven combinations out there that you bet base is now thirteen dollars and fifty cents. If it's a a fifty cent bet your strongest opinions were that you liked this four. Two one five one. I wonder what would it be. If i bet the thirteen fifty to win in the five zero one will now looking at you. Know seventy something dollars You know maybe if. I just did a cold double. What's that pain. Oh it's paying. You know twenty nine dollars for a box so that times thirteen now. I'm looking at three hundred and something or four hundred. Whatever it is you know. Just kind of do these little exercises Really think it will help you know to unfold a lot of what we're talking about in terms of just making smarter bets You're gonna have a big difference in your enjoyment of horseracing if you're winning more money at the end of the year or losing less money you know the enjoyment factor you know. I know that for a lot of people cashing tickets as the enjoyment. But i really think at the end of the year. It's your bottom line that you're going to be looking at right like that's what's gonna matter if you instead of making thousand made five thousand this year like that's a significant amount of money. That's something you can use for a vacation a new watch. Whatever thou payment on a car you know if you're losing twelve grand a year now you're losing seven because you're just making smarter bets. You doing nothing else. You're making the same amount of wagers. You're making the same types of wagers still do it pick fives or pick. Four's try you doing all that the same. You're just doing a little smarter. You're not going five deep and you know in in six horse fields with the five favorites. You know you're not doing things that are getting you know added equity throughout sequence. If you just do those little things you will see a significant difference in your bottom line. The over the course of the year and the people who won't see those differences or the people who you know they're only out to cash tickets. They think they have to win every leg. They think they have to spread as much as possible and hope to get lucky. Sometimes they're going to end the problem for those kind of people. Is you know when you play these huge tickets. Of course you're gonna hit more often than somebody who's playing for twenty or thirty bucks but you're also you know if you're playing a five hundred dollar ticket and it hits for two thousand like that's great and you made fifteen hundred dollars but if that's your regular playing style you have to be right every fourth time at that level by the way sometimes you gonna be right and make two hundred bucks. Sometimes you've right and lose two hundred bucks so you know. Long-term players in thinkers are learning from those mistakes and watching. These people do that stuff. But you can't get kinda seduced by those guys that are playing those tickets because they're getting crushed in the long run and most likely getting crushed in the somewhat short run but they're obviously going to have more ups downs because they're just throwing so many more combinations at it but what you want. Is that long slow upward trajectory of of your your bankroll always here. Handicappers and stuff on tv like. Oh you got a pad your bankroll before the big day. Oh you gotta make some money before the big like. If you're winning and playing good you would already have bankroll before any day. But you know. I mean that's coming from the mentality of people who have to deposit every couple of weeks because they got to reload because they lost and so why would you wanna take advice for people who were doing that. And like i said. I i think you should critique and criticize everything say i'm no proven winning horse player but i've started to learn from people who are and i've educated myself and i think i've turned around my my thoughts announces in how i see the game because of listening to people who actually went. Don't listen to people that lose. It's like listening to me about how to lose weight. Like i've lost weight fact so my i wrote a blog about this The other day since my top by highest wade middle of twenty seventeen. I'm down eighty pounds now but that's also almost three and a half years ago so i'm certainly no expert at and i'm still fat so you wouldn't listen to me tell you how to diet. I mean i could probably tell you how to do it. But i'm not actually out there executing it every day so you know you guys get what i'm saying right. Am i communicating this all right. My little job is to communicate Let's take quick time out. We come back. We will discuss some of the weekend action. Lot of senator racing one talk about. "Back here on the jason horse racing podcast brought to you by twin spires of police to welcome in our next guests as a member of the nhc hall of fame. You can hear him on the sport of kings podcast each week. Very happy to welcome in chris. Lemme to the show. Chris our area. I'm doing great. I'm really pleased to be on his show. And i'm feel honored that you asked me to join you so i'm looking forward to the conversation. I appreciate you joining me. I always loved the rare occasion when it gets. Call someone with an area code in my same beautiful home. State of washington are are. Are you in eastern washington guy. Yeah i am not way east but on the other side of the mountains so my dad used to say east of the trees he said once you got past like indian john hill. There was no more trees. Well that may be a bit of an exaggeration. But it's definitely a different climate side of the mountains than it is on the left side. I it's funny. I was talking to somebody recently about you. Know the geography of our states. And i said you know. I feel like washington has more little geographical types than any i said we have desert and he was like there's no desert in washington. I was like but there is kind of in the in the central part there in the hills the mountains. I mean we we kind of have everything here. Yeah and a rainforest to Just about anything. Snow heat rain mountains ocean. We've got it all did you. Did you grow up here or are you a later in life washingtonian. No i've lived here about thirty years now. Okay so i consider myself a washingtonian. But i was actually a military brat. Lived all over the place. never lived anywhere for too long so You know i. I'm a child of the world i guess but I really like it too out west. And that's where i've spent most of my adult life. So how did you first discover horse racing. What's kind of interesting. I really got into in college. When i went to the university of arizona and my brother got involved in racing. That's a different story on how he did but he ended up in the race. Track industry program at the university of arizona so he would hang out with all these guys that were involved in racing from all over the world literally Chicago new york. But even i mean Those of you. Who are older might remember belic. Who used to do a lot of the artwork and dfl his son. Remington was in the the program at the time. And so i got to know all these people in the racing industry. And i learned about little about racing and a few of them. Were really into the gambling side. And i'm a math guy. I was a math major. And that was very attractive to me. And i just kinda got hooked There's so much. I mean we could go into it but there's just so much that really attracts people if you are interested in kind of the intellectual challenge of handicapping but also you know understanding the math behind the gambling side. If you can put those two things together gives you. It's really fun and challenging but also gives you an opportunity to actually make some money based on the experience so that was really attractive and that got me started. I had a similar kind of experience with with poker in college. I i was in college win. The poker boom happened. And i remember kind of falling into that like it was just so interesting that you could study something and use your wits and all that kind of stuff to possibly have an advantage and and you know make monetary score and. I'll be honest with with horse racing betting it wasn't really until the last couple years that i got two more appreciate the mathematical side of it. Because i think growing up i was kinda taught. More that the handicapping was this art. And if you know and from a logical sense if you pick the winners you're going to win and it's really not that easy and and honestly discovering more of the mathematical side of things especially with the wagering thing it kinda reinvigorated my my joy of of horse racing in a way. Yeah and i really think that that's key people who end up staying engaged in this long term. Have to have a little bit of success for one thing. If you're always getting beaten down you're probably gonna give up at some point. But i think it's just that intellectual challenge of both the wagering and the handicapping i and i think the industry sometimes try to downplay that a little bit And i think that could be a mistake. I do agree that there's a big barrier to entry in terms of just getting started. Unfortunately there's not like a minor league of course play that you can play in to to get your feet under you before you have to go against the The sharks in the mutual pools but That intellectual challenge is really what draws most people into it and you know the ability to make money and make a score is fun to that kind of reinforces it and keeps you going but I really do think that we need to really play this up as being a fun game but a challenging game that you just never stop learning throughout the whole time. You're involved if you do. Then you're you're going to pay the price. I mean there's always something you can learn Something something else you can learn you never have it all figured out or even close to it. What were the learning materials for you and your coming up. I i kinda say i feel like everybody reads the buyer the vidale with book. And and you know obviously there's some other stuff but we're kind of the the pieces that got you your initial education and racing or was it just hanging around with groups guys go onto the track. That was really where it got started. And i i can't learn two things first of all i just sort of learn the basics and So i could understand and talk to other people about the game right. I mean just the basic terms and concepts. But then i also learn just how I wanna be kind here. How a lot of people didn't really understand it especially the math part in the wagering side and also they just were making bad decisions because what it really comes down to like anything in life is is is how you make good decisions and the better you are at that the better you'll be in. I just saw a low. What i thought were clearly bad decisions being made on a regular basis all around me so i thought once i discovered that it what parimutuel wagering was. What you weren't betting against the house. You were just competing against other people making wagers and i thought well. I seems to me like a lot of these. Wages aren't really good decisions. That's an opportunity. If i can get good at this to make money. So that's an and that. So i was just trying to figure out how i could make better decisions than the guy i was sitting next to or the other people at the track and that that was kind of i thought the challenge was i remember. Buddy might say like there. Was this guy at emerald. It was you know just to bet chalk and remember when he won in my buddy goes. How could we not beat him. He's our competition. Like how is this happening because we're smart guys like apparently we're not funny. I mentioned this book. And i've been started. Rereading that again and kind of going over it from the lens of what i know now versus what was kinda printed when i read it the first time you know fifteen or twenty years ago and you know there's not a lot of new literature coming out in the world of risque no pete foreign attell And i'm totally blanking on his name. The guy from the plays keeneland. They did a book a couple years ago. Right malone mike had him on the show. I forgot his name but Yeah but like they had a book. Come out a couple of years ago but i was starting to realize that. Maybe a lot of podcasts. That people are doing and that includes. Your guys are kind of going to become the learning tools for the next generation.

"Morning welcome into the Jason Horse Racing podcast brought to you by twin spires. Happy to be with you here on this Wednesday open buddies. September the night off to a good start I was watching the news. Jason Watch the news once in a while but. Grants Pass. We're starting on Monday I'm heading down Sunday I have a kind of a crazy week. I, got A. Wedding. Or a funeral Friday my grandma. Well, we're do my grandma's burial Friday and then Saturday a wedding Sunday drive to grants pass Monday opening day grants pass but the wildfires that have been going crazy here in the entire western. Side of the country. I was just looking at some video from Ashland Oregon which I stay in the town one town up from Ashland between Ashland Medford called talent. Just a little dot on the map but. Ashland is kind of where I go for groceries and a lot of times you know to go food and stuff like that. It's kind of Neat Little College town that sits on the side of a hill. It's home of the Shakespeare Festival. There's an amazing. Shakespeare. Festival there that's that's based in Ashland and man the fires are Kinda hitting their and the kind of the start of the valley down there the rogue valley where Medford. Talent and Phoenix, and all these towns reside so. Scary to watch him I. I went up to Mount Rainier National Park on Labor Day on Monday. And I mean, it was just you know I I kind of live out that direction. So it's only thirty miles maybe to the to the park for me and and it was like so beautiful driving up I went up to Chinook pass which one of the great sprinters of all time Washington Bridge and passes the named after that and just gorgeous right and then when I got to Chinook pass like the other side looking towards Yakima Central, Washington it was like this Brown. Just. Sheet was hanging up over the sky and the wildfire smoke was kind of all in that Yakima Valley, and as I decided to go home on Monday afternoon all of sudden smoke caught up and it was real windy and it literally went from like perfectly clear and beautiful here too smoggy grey, Brown and smelling as though. Somebody who'd been having like the world's largest barbecue, and so you know these wildfires my good friends down in southern Oregon. You know that I knew before I went down to grants pass and go down there and stay in. The summertime every summer, the last few years it's just been this lingering cloud of smoke down there over that valley, and then it gets in the valley it doesn't want to exit and so. Just thinking a lot about my friends down there and obviously going to be down there in what five days six days. So hoping everything can get better but some gnarly looking stuff but we will continue our look back at the Derby Oaks weekend talk about a lot of the undercard races, the Kentucky Oaks. And start to inch our way to moving forward tomorrow horse player Thursday Doug McPherson's going to join US Doug. The does the Journal handicapping for would by we'll talk queen's plate, which is coming up this weekend. Dougie was a jury member here for a while you might remember donkey Mac and. I also have to get Doug's opinions. I. Think he's got a pretty sharp handicapping I and We'll talk with Doug on tomorrow's program about Queens played about Woodbine by captain and all that kind of stuff and then Friday the jury will be here. We'll get all the guys reaction from Derby Week as they were all on track in working and. Obviously, one of the. Three of the few that were allowed onto the track for the Kentucky Derby. So we'll get all of their impressions of the big weekend and then reminder off next week. It's my vacation week next week. So we won't have best of shows however. Our entire archive is available at twin spires dot com slash blog click on the podcast link for all of our J. J. b. h. r. p. shows, which go back about a year I want to say that it was right around. This time last year we were we were debut in this particular program because for years if you're to our show for years where I had a show on Bet America the bed America radio network and we moved over here but. Both archives are still available. So if you if you if you just can't go seven days without without me, which you guys lobby fine, there's eight hundred other podcasts just make sure to come back the next Monday don't don't leave me. I need you guys. Anyway, so we will. So that's what's coming up ahead I. in fact I already got some guests lined up for when I get back. One or two that I wanted to try to get on this week. But but couldn't. And so one of the things I thought interesting coming up. This next week is my vacations kind of correlating with no southern California racing and I know that it's not a maybe a popular sentiment amongst horsemen or or maybe even the tracks of the commission's whatever but I like the idea of having. A. Some gaps between these meets down there. I just don't know that there's as a fan in a in a horse player I don't know that there's need for. Three, a week racing or forty week racing or whatever they're gonNA do. Fifty weeks of the year. I feel like we can take a couple of weeks. You know three times a year maybe. Maybe even take a month at some point. And let the horse population rest a little bit. Let you know let the. To some degree I think there could be a little bit of fatigue just from a racing product long meets I looked to my friends that work year round tracks and there a lot of them that are pretty burned out by it's just kind of a grind and. You know I know, and that's everybody's job right? Like most people's jobs, you work year round and so. I don't know that it's A. You know I think that's the case for a lot of people I. Guess it's but I've just noticed that the people who get a break from the actual racing part of things for a little bit they seem to just be able to kind of hold onto that passion and excitement for the sport and all that kind of stuff and I think it's important for for horse players to. Take breaks to I was tweeting with a buddy of the yesterday was talking about wanting to take a break and I said man I think it's a really good thing once in a while. Especially, if you know maybe there's a meat like Saratoga del Mar that you really pay attention to you really focus in on you know you really zero in on and whether you did good or bad. Like I don't see that it's a wrong thing after a grind of meat to take a little time and to let your mind because you don't want to be making your bets with a clouded tired mind or one that is you know. If you're having a bad meet one that is dwelling on the negatives one that's you know sitting there worried about all the bad lucky. Had I mean you've got to remember. Lock always works itself out in the end like if you're playing the races three days a week, four days a week whatever for three, four, five, ten, twenty, thirty years. Like your luck is GonNa probably be damn near the same as everybody else you know of course, there's going to be outliers. There's going to be someone who popped A. Million Dollar Super. Effective for eight bucks. It's the same like what the lottery right everybody plays the lottery. Is The guy that hit.

"West western Canada horses will sometimes go to Woodby but generally woodbine his head shoulders above in terms of circuit quality from Hastings. Last. Year's a two year old infinite patients. was a perfect five for five at hastings crushed her rivals in all four, or all five of her starts. Rather you know stakes wins running against St breads our province breads I. Guess even though they have s, and then won the fantasy going a mile, and a sixteenth didn't get a very big figure on the stretch out the works have been good coming. Coming into this I mean part of me wants to say that like you know because of the circuit jump. This one is a kind of a play against, but might take action because the horses perfect so far and be one of the owners right new Hopkins plays for the Edmonton oilers so kind of needs when athletes get involved in horse racing Noaa Johnson. We've seen from the Colorado. Avalanche is Avidan ownership. Kevin Youkilis I think he was No Not Kevin Youkilis Mike Napoli. He was a big ownership last year when I was at Monmouth by Colin his horses every other day, but I was kind of cool when the athletes get involved in Ranjit. Hopkins seems to have an ice two year old at of kind of an obscure Sire Sun Gold whose son of API, but twenty three hundred stud fee, so I got imagine one hundred and sixty grand. They made on this horses. is already done pretty well. So you know I mean you usually don't see multiple hundred thousand dollar yearlings debut at Hastings, but kind of cool to see horse have such good success early on and. Try to take on the the big girls out east at Woodbine. That's coming up Sunday in the fury stakes. Let's take a short time out. We come back. Our buddies in the jury will come in. "To the Jason Horse Racing. Podcast brought to you by twin. Spires twin spires a proud proud sponsor of the show. Happy but with you here on this may the sixth and look forward to what will be a little bit of a par- up show. I mentioned yesterday. He didn't hear Had some tremendous audio difficulties with with Kenny. Mcpeek during our interview and they all seem to be coming from my end and Kenny was remarkably patient. We had to do like four call. Backs try tried restarting. I tried doing all this stuff and toward the end it started happening again. There's a few spots so I'm GonNa play what I got the interview. It's probably ten minutes but there's a few spots where it Kinda cuts out for. Just a second which is honestly to annoying. But it's annoying but it's not. It's not all that bad but toward the end it got real bad one or two times and I just can't. I'm so sorry I know you're busy guy. And he was very gracious about the whole thing and I still think he had some good things to say about his fantasy stakes winner. From this past week's with skydivers. We'll talk about that race. There was a lot of talk afterwards. You know the big favourite was was a harbor who was well backed and went pretty quick. Upfront and Swiss skydiver. Kenna came to her but then Venetian harbour. Dug in before was skydiver kind of propelled at the end prevailed at the end and. I don't know that there's this thought that you know if the horse would have slowed down a little bit that there would have had more late which is entirely possible. I mean that's you know the fundamentals of pace handicapping our if you know if you go slower earlier able to have more late and if you go faster. Lee sometimes you get worn out late and therefore the closers pick you up. But I don't know that it's necessarily all that true that if a horse ran you know to fifth slower and backed it up just a little instead of maybe running off or You know that would make that much of a difference a mile into a race when it's down to a showdown between two horses. Kinda just gotten it out for the last you know sixteenth eighth of a mile. I mean theoretically it should but I just don't know if that's the case like You know I just feel that. I know there's a lot of things going to a race but I don't know that Venetian harbour slowing down a touch or to make real difference in the end. I know it. I know you want to think that it does and it may have well have but I don't know that it's that. Was that much of a difference between winning and not winning this particular and Venetian harbour is still a very lightly raced horse and she picked up. Some much-needed oaks points and I to think that her connections are you fine with where they're at and where they're heading but so we won't play the Kenny mcpeek interview here in just a few moments. I am going to do another segment of race. I Love I. We'RE GONNA go back to two thousand five to Hollywood park. I've talked about this race times because it's an important race to me personally but we'll replay the audio as well and the audio is the important part to me but the race itself. I thought just had a lot of neat things going on with it during it and after it. So we'll talk about the two thousand five American oaks at Hollywood park a coming up a little bit later also WanNa take a little look at the. Ntr a pole that's right the NPR. A poll is out and I've always said it's not really something I mean I. I don't care about vote in it but it's you know sometimes fun to talk about. I used to have a a segment called hating on the N. T. R. A. And had its own. Music will well. I really went all out with the production on on that one but You know the reason I wanNA at least talk about the NTR. A poll in this instances because it.

"Horse Racing podcast brought to you by twin spires back here all the Jason Horse Racing. Podcast brought to you by twin. Spires my thanks to the boys from the jury for joining US always love getting to catch up with them on a Friday and always love getting to talk to you guys go talk a little Oakland and Gulfstream. As I think what I'm GonNa do so earlier. I was talking about how I was going to do. A more of a full card preview and I got a few emails from people who said they liked that idea. And so I said let's We'll throw in an extra show this week and I was going to do Golden Gate. 'cause I figure a lot of people are focusing on Gulfstream and oaklawn Gulfstream's probably the one I watched the most of of the ones that are left And maybe the one I watched the most general. I watch a lot of Gulfstream. And you know I've worked there a little bit. So maybe that's part of the reason why but I think what I'm GonNa do is I'm going to. I'm going to do the work for the Gulfstream Saturday card and I'm going to have notes and watch replays and do all of that on Thursday night. That's how I'm gonNA spend what's my Friday night but wait to tape the show until first thing Friday morning because I think Thursday night. I'm guessing we'll have more information about what's going to happen in Florida. They know their stay at home. Order starts then and certainly don't want to do a show and have it cancelled nor do I am not am. I sure you guys don't want to do your homework. And and have the racing get cancelled from underneath you. So that's my plan. See how it how it unfolds but a couple quick thoughts on on on the two big cards coming up this weekend. Being OAKLAWN and Gulfstream. We talked with With James scully a bit ago about the Purple Martin Stakes Hundred Thousand Three Zero phillies sprint and six and as expected with a good three zero six furlong race. There's there's plenty of gas in here but there's a lot of horses that have been pretty darn impressive and that liked to win in this race. It's it's truly fascinating event We'll start from the rail Kamari for Wesley Ward. And like I said you're gonNA start seeing some of these trainers from other circuits popping up at oaklawn while they're still running because a running for a pile of money and be there running so Kamari it was a very good turf sprinter who we saw win at Saratoga. When a steak at keeneland had to roll from way back in the juvenile turf sprint as one of the favorites and still ran huge. Fourth made a ton of ground on four wheel drive and in the other so interesting to see that one show up on the the main track for the second time. The horse debuted. If you remember Kamari at Keeneland won by fifteen that Wesley Ward four and a half furlongs keeneland big winner. It's not exactly a Stop the press kind of a news announcement but worth noting that this one was pretty darn impressive on the grass but that said is drawn. The rare on the dirt rather as drawn. The Rail. Mike Smith is going is named a ride and right to it's outside Speedy sort and ringleader stretched out in the Honeybee was on the lead couldn't keep up and ended up finishing fifth but prior to that at one three straight races all sprints including the Dixie Belle. Which is one of the early season. Three zero philly sprints at oaklawn flat out speed is twenty two one morning line. Three for three all sprinting. All at Prairie Meadows but all is a two year old. This is a three year old debut for this one so Again similar that one I mentioned earlier Turf Paradise. Tomah they when we were talking with. James was kind of the Queen of the small circuit. Now's GonNa try the the bigger girls edge ways. I think it'd be one of your top two choices I think the four eight edge way and Franks. Rakhat are going to be the to take the most amount of money edge. Way was a huge winner at Oaklawn About a month and a half ago a month ago and it's John Sadler ruinous racing etc but looking at the optics plot. It's Kinda got the four in the eighties as two of the primary speeds. But there's a lot of gas in here and when I say a lot of gas. There's obviously there's a lot of horses whose preferred style looks to be to be up on the lead now if one or two of emerging way faster than everybody then you don't get the contested battle and what have you but for a horse like edge way who similar to how. I looked at decorated and via the other day you know my my the Lens. I'm always going to look through. Is trying to find ways to beat the favourite edge? Way is a horse for a decent barn who generally is better at home but they've been doing fine at oaklawn. Six wins forty starts fifteen percent but really faced no opposition any point the race. There was one horse that kind of took a run at them on coming to the quarter pole and she shook that one off and ran off nicely but it was a pretty unpressured. First quarter and I just I mean with speed on every side of it you know. It's it's a second career start first time against winners if the horse doesn't get out of the gate perfectly with the speed of the inside and outside like that whole GonNa close real fast and so to me. It's just a total go against and I'm always happy to get beat by these kind same as same with decorated invader last week. It's I'll never be upset that okay. I got beat by good horse. That needed a few things to go. Its way it happens so no worries but I mean there's just a lot of speed I'm really excited about the the six Lexi on the move for Diaspora two wins. Both of them have been kind of garden trip stocking out in the clear trips and draws outside of a lot of the speed Franks rocket eight nine and ten horses. They all have a little bit of early lick but I don't think as much as as the ones down toward the inside selection on the move I could see falling into a good position. David with the Doro. I don't know that you're going to get eight to one. I think the foreign the Inner GonNa take most of the money so I think a decent price as possible so Franks. Rock kept the eight bill. Bought IN MARTINE GARCIA AND. This one's kind of interesting career crushed at Churchill toward the end of the meat there in the spring in the Maidan debut as the favourite got hammered for the second start because hey big huge margin winning. First Time. We're GONNA it's GonNa take money got beat at three to five. It was in the adirondack behind perfect. Alabama's good horse got beat by perfect alibi again in the spin away after making the lead midstretch. I mean she's a very talented runner second in the fridge and then comes back for her three year old debut in the any limited Gulfstream. It just rops but got the lead that day through not that fast fractions and blew the doors off in a small field. So you know going to have to go back to the stocking mode but is certainly capable of it but last time. She fired fresh with a huge open. Mike Lynch came back beat again. It was great to from a maiden special. So maybe that's a bad comparison to make but I'm going to guess this one goes off as your favorite unless word is out on the four edge. Way I'M GONNA Guess Franks rocket ends up being your favorite in this spot but a fun race. I mean just some neat angles and I think some NEAT PRICE POTENTIAL HORSES. Really looking forward to this one In just a cool cool race so with Gulfstream I kinda like I I will go over that whole card on a separate show for. Oh probably tape it Friday morning. Post it Friday morning so you know noon so everybody has Friday evening to listen if you want to but you know looking at this first race. I joke about this a lot. The Gulfstream I'll always starts their cards with a cheap maiden turf route or just a cheap turf route in general and and there's one of those in this Saturday car. The first race is twelve. Plus as going a mile maiden sixteen thousand for a three year old up. And we've talked about this before and I thought class drops would be an interesting point of conversation for for today. This race has a few class droppers but it has a lot of the ones that have been at this level for a while. And they're you know they knock on the door and sometimes things don't go their way. Sometimes things do and you know they. They kinda run similar speed figures a lot of the Times you're favored and here is the number eight. Blessed journey who was dropping from forty thousand claim the horse for fifty back in December ran it for seventy five back ran third at four to one pretty good run. ran forth for maiden fifty. They dropped a little bit but that was on the dirt and it was still a pretty good run a back to the turf for maiden forty after A little bit of a break by the way just last weekend and didn't run jump and now comes right back in seven days to run. I guess it was eight nine days by the time the race goes off to run for made sixteen. So I think it's what's really interesting to me with class. Drops right now is because of the uncertainty of of racing everywhere Our trainers trying to hey. I mean to be Nice for the barn. Have you know an extra sixteen thousand laying around if somebody wants to claim this one? Who's probably not very good anymore. Or is it ham trying to get the win? Plus the drop blessed journey to me looks like one that they're trying to get the win and trying to drop not so much trying to unload Bob Hess. Junior has not had an amazing Gulfstream Meat. But lots of seconds at third so as horses have been running. Okay this is a Lou chores again. They claim for fifty two. Haven't really done much with or since then. The Third. An off the board Person Nineteen thousand so they make ten grand there if it gets claim they get back. Twenty six okay. We lose a little money on that but coming in with with everything going on. I'm just fascinated with With trainer and owner intentions when it comes to class drop. I think it's something really interesting to watch throughout the Saturday car. I'll talk more about it when I do that. Preview show and then in the third race there's a maiden twelve five and you know there's there's a maiden special weight to maiden twelve five dropper for Scott Becker who they didn't pay much for this horse. I think they tried. The maiden special didn't go very well was last beaten eighteen. Hey let's try You know let's put it back to reality but you know how how many connections are trying to to kind of get rid of horses right now because if there is a prolonged period of no racing you know certainly pay the groom and you got to pay for the fee and everything while there is no racing for those horses so if you get one player to win a race you pick up twenty five thousand. That takes care of the bills for you. Know what I mean if you're if you're looking at three or four five thousand a month depending on where you're racing twenty. Five grand takes care five horses for a month so I think it's going to be an interesting week or two or three or however we go For claims and drops and stuff like that. So it'd be watching on some of these barns very closely over the next couple of days but like I said I will. I will try to put together a Gulfstream Saturday preview show for Friday morning midday and we will nothing wrong with an extra show anyways. Appreciate the jury coming appreciate you guys all week for tuning in really enjoyed our guest. This week I hope you guys did as well. Tommy Masters joining us. Big thanks to Tommy Terry Finley. Join US ty Kennedy from will rogers of course will rogers back in action on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday right. Did they three days. I think they just either. They just added the third day or they're adding it shortly. I forget I should look but I'm lazy. It's my Friday.

"We're going to move on to our next year. All right sounds good Jason. Thanks all right. So the jury continues on and we head over to a little bit. Welcome into Scotch Bureau Chef Cap. What are you doing pal just doing my did my pod capping Gulfstream. I gestured out to target for the open. The night to get some necessities. It's it's been a full full morning here on Thursday battle. Sounds like a normal Thursday. Yeah except that I you got to target and you know the there was. I got there. I didn't necessarily need to get teepee. I was kind of but there is like fifty people wait outside socially distance for the most part of course and it okay and then all of a sudden you know everybody's going to the same part of the store not running. Nothing obnoxious funny. Because I went there to go on there to go food shopping. Because I feel like everybody's gone to the grocery store there's a couple of things I wouldn't get there. But you know pe coffee cereal and frozen foods and stuff. They have a nice selection. Nobody's ever that everybody's there to just get their T. P. P. T. And cleaning goods and he was just empty otherwise so yeah one of the things. I've seen a lot on. Tv Networks Sports. We Watch sports. A lot of the networks are going to be playing old games and You know looking back. Old World Series is our old bowl games are are you getting into any of that or is like to me. It's just like okay. I just don't care wash. I'm pretending I'm not because they're doing okay without sports for the time being and it just makes what I have done when I see those things for my team Wisconsin. Hoops phillies baseball. For the most part. I've got a little nostalgic and Kinda get a little choked up about some great events that I've been fortunate enough to go to then obviously the ones so I thought some reminiscent on a personal level but I have not watched many games. I've been really focused on on racing staff and then doing a Lotta nfl work and then watching Ozark right now. So I think everybody says that one's good. I haven't looked at that one. Yeah that's Jason Bateman right. Yes which is weird. Because that's the weird thing kind of reminds me of when I watched dumb and dumber and then went to watch Gettysburg. The movie I had to take Jeff. They had no serious up and he's got this big beard on the whole. Took me like an hour? Maybe the maybe full-time through to be like this guy's not kidding. He's Long Street. He's really you know we use a great dramatic anything. It's the opposite like for him. It's like comedy Jeff Daniels. Wow well that's very true but it just happened to be the timing and I probably watch dumb and dumber ten times because it was so funny. But it's like that with Jason Bateman right now. It's like a horrible bosses are the most recent Jason Bateman. I've seen and that's just so goofy. Then this is a serious serious stuff and it's like Jason but it's kind of you know I'm expecting it to be a little sarcastic but Got Season One started the first episode of Season. Two very good so far. I listened to the Spitting Chiklis Hockey podcast a lot. And they had cam nealy on who famously played sea bass in in dumb and dumber. He the famous hockey player and they were asking him about it and he said that the scene toward the end where he knocks. It opened the bathroom stall. And it's and it's Jim Carey in there and he gets scared. He said that he was supposed to kind of deliver it. A shocked face and that was the reaction they were wanting from him and so he said they were doing the take a few different times and kind wasn't getting into and Jim just told them you know. Hey you're doing great. She's just relaxing. He goes just come in there and look scared so they shut the stall door. He said they would take a few seconds. They get this shot ready and they say go said. He opens the door. Jim Carrey at his pants down and he was Moonen him and he said each mmediately advocates shocked. Look on his face and that was the take. They ended up using for the shot. So I that I'll never forget. My mom and my sister went and saw that movie in the theater before I did. And my mom goes. It's terrible she goes. It is such boy. Humor's you'll probably love it. And then she was right. Yeah Great Great. Well on the Racing Fred. Of course big weekend down at Gulfstream. And you know that in the mix and we're talking. Derby Top ten today and I noticed that you have on top someone that none of the other guys having their top four year. You're going with the Dowell right now. Yeah I thought I think I guess if you're looking at speed figures and whatnot. Maybe it all looks a little bit slower but I just thought his His is racing. The rebel was showed me a lot. What I WANNA see in the Derby the ability to deal with adversity and kind of move up kick on he took on all comers which a lot of times you have to take on in twenty Horsfield like the Derby so I really like that. It's always sloppy. Churchill for the so. He proved he could win. Over the SLOP and I was I was really torn between the two BAFFLES. What I've could constructed this list and I just ended up on the doll because he has the points right now. I in terms of betting futures. Charlotte was a better price easily. Bet Him in and even now now that it's a little bit of a different picture can easily make the case for Charles Moving Charles up. I just kept it this way. Basically they're one at one eight for me. It's a lot of faith in Bedford. I'm expecting him to be able to figure this out. The extended a mankind have his horse peaking at the right time where I don't know if everybody else will so kind of one and one a. But Yeah I was more surprised that they were so So I I kind of feel like they're not bull. Bearish on doll where Yeah I mean I'm even looking at Vance Hansen and Kelly right. They don't even have them in the top. Ten offense I look at James has um nine Ed. V stormed the court for style with. We'll take his all with a grain of salt but every picks on it. I mean know. It's Nice I he. I think he makes those moves. I think he wants to us to talk about that. He has what's the purpose of Derby topped spark conversation about the Derby. Come on right but I still try to take and I think it is too. He's looking for an alternative year. We look back and I mean we talked about storm. The core package his opinion right now is he wants the seahorses that have upside and fast races to me. Though looking back at his breeder's cup juvenile to show that he has a fast race when it was the goofiest race. It may be Breeders Cup. top Breeders Cup history over a weird track where nobody's run backwards just doesn't doesn't matter to me. But I respect his opinion. And I liked it. He's contrarian shop open for Saturday. September storm the court wins the Kentucky Derby Flash Forward to the year two thousand sixty seven and Ed de Rosa laying there on his deathbed and he looks at his children and he looks at his wife and he says you guys remember when I had stormed the court early on in the Derby top-ten Seattle whose that Miller horse that we squared away or all. Squared away still talks about that one. So Joe how how much I did. I don't even know if I can remember that. Yeah it was. I think it was a miller. That was a big price. Won The blue grass or wanted some. He the only reason I remember it. Because it's it's definitely one of his that he pulls out often so it's been known to pull out an old pick. Were Nice Sam Houston ticket waiting for the for the twenty twenty two derby top ten and literally just says hip one thirty seven hip one that would that would be the ultimate but yeah. I mean you know I think you made. The point about thinking baffert will know what's best to do. I I kind of said that on the show the other day in the sense that you know we don't know who is going to be very good at having a horse ready to peak September fifth for three year old with with obviously possibly a stymied campaign with this gap in in racing at most jurisdictions. And so I think you still have to kind of handicap it as you normally would but on the other side. Maybe maybe the price comes from you. Know kind of training and -ticipant who you think is going to be better at that definitely but it terms of wagering on this in future pool for which we have coming up. Friday starting Friday closing on Sunday. I'm GONNA need value. I'M GONNA need to take a long shot. I I went with. We had to do a pick for For twin spires for each of us and I went with enforceable just because the fifty to one price. He's proven that he can get the distance. He's proven he can compete at this level. He needs the run faster. But I'm hoping is a tap it. He grows mentally like a lot of them. Have and you can get out of the gate a little better than he has. So I think he still has maturing to do and I just wanted to go the horse. That was a big price. Couple others have Seoul Valenti in my list. I think maybe underneath type in the Derby could definitely get the distance. Maybe a little bit too far back and major fed and other big price. But I'M GONNA demand value at this point but still that doesn't mean I'm going to have those forces at the top of my derby top ten so if all stays the same. Gulfstream your focus for the weekend. Go and OAKLAWN. I'll be through. I wrote on Gulfstream on Thursday. I'm doing Oakland Friday. Kevin Kirstein and I talked about the Derby future wager in the late. "jason horse racing" Discussed on The Jason Beem Horse Racing Podcast

"Stakes. I feel like world of trouble. Should have grasped. He was very versatile. I mean he was very versatile for the I mean at sprint to maybe a mile on the dirt distances certainly wasn't a class mile on eight type but I don't know six furlongs on the dirt. Was you know was his wheelhouse. But beside the point hundred thousand dollar race grade three and lasting legacy you're seventy five favorite and just kind of looking at the optics plot. It certainly looks like a race that that might shape up for him. The speed is so lasting legacy. He's you know He. He's a little bit of a grinding closer type. He doesn't have an explosive move if you watch his his races he just he gets to the top of the stretch and he's got really good gear for the final furlong and got up to win three in a row since You know he really wasn't Jae Service had him to start the career and he got off to a very good start broke the main debut Lau. It's up at Belmont. Wins going away against true timber and You know good horses so that he gets beat the steel vice brand. He goes to the bar. Steve Asmussen he runs pretty poorly twice From what I remember hearing the wests like at the beginning of the year like they kind of map out where they want their horse to go so the horse gave some time off. Data back to services Bardy rattles off three straight wins including the MR prospector at Monmouth. And I remember calling them that day just again. A very strong kick. That lasts sixty th. Wow so then. Last time out he goes to the Mr Prospector at Gulfstream. Swept THE MR prospectors but got beat by David Hoops X. Y. Jet Imperial hit and others went forty three and four kind of set it up for the closures. Diamond Hoop speed it. But a very good race. He ran that day. I mean he's he's just a really good just off the pace sprinter type and so. I started thinking in this race. Okay well you know who's he gonNA have to run into because epic dreamer? Who shows up at here is a EPA DREAMER? Had One of the biggest. I thought he was so cleared so home he got. He got beat but back at parks. I think I was out there that day. I want to say that I was at Park Day when he got beat but I could be wrong but regardless They he's he's a speedy. Taiba GENERALLY GOING TO TURNS. He has been close to lead recently. Just two starts back Gulfstream. Going one term is six furlongs in the ram and a half imagine. They're going to send as hard as they can whether he can compete with some of these other ones admiral inches got some good early speed. I feel like Admiral Lynch just kind of in there To set up for lasting legacy and then also York did shores up here. Now if you're woodbine fan of course you know Arcton. He's he's beating Pink Floyd on a couple of occasions. He won the pull venture this past fall up at At woodbine got away a little bit slow last time. It still battled pretty bravely finished fourth. But we're seeing on on a fast dirt track which he's only ran on. I think one time and finished off the board so it was not a great effort on his part but he's got pretty good early. I don't know if he has gulfstream dirt early a kick and then Gold Lion. Is this big long shot. That was in the Mahia barn for a long time. In Mahia Barks entered longshots in stakes races. And this horse again he. He's one of the ones that similar to Who is the horse that went with hidden? Scroll Gladiator King. That's GonNa be a nice horse from here but you know it it a little bit of that kind of spot. Where he's you know he very well could have some kind of say in the early going so the race certainly sets up for for lasting legacy from a on paper point of view but as that's why they won the race and just as over the hanes field sets up for Mr Buff. Who's going to be a short price? Favourite he's four to five in the morning line. He's he's going to go over a million bucks likely in this race I think if he finishes third or better he he does that which a great achievement for a New York Brad. He's coming off to huge wins has been going a bit longer. As of late and the mile distance is not as best distance but he shortening up and the question is is he going to get able to try it out on the Ledin if you look towards the outside it's there's forced foreclosures on spots three three four six but syndergaard is next to him and Syndergaard has been closing from a little off the pace released trying to but his best game used to be when he was kind of a send up front came so I almost wonder if they're going to try to. If not go with Mr Buff at least keep him honest and keep him company because if you let it roll I mean. They're just I can't imagine they. They beat the source if he's able to get a loan lead so real curious to see if that's what happens. I Love Jackson just one. I was watching him at Golden Gate fields the other day on. Tv anyone at their wheeling him back in six days he went up there on Sunday. I believe it was and so. We'll at him back after a Nice Win. Eddie's fact he's won two in a row and he's won four out of five his only loss was just a really bad tired effort so I almost wonder if it just hey just not his day Told up an out of it but he you know. He's one of those horses. Linda Rice claimed him for sixteen. Took him straight up. The ladder in east just turned into a Freakin. Lindo won the finale out. Gulfstream yesterday in that Pick five sequence. I'd seen something she decides she. She's got her whole case thing coming up and. I know they've postponed it. A lot of folks were theorizing whether that would mean her. Horses are going to run better or or worse With that impending but we shall see autre up is also in this race and of course. ran huge race in the Carter behind world of trouble and Schuyler scrammed jetty back in the spring and since then his cat run two dads and I don't know if that took a little bit out of him they gave him time off and just didn't really fire fresh in allowance groups. Now that was a good allowance group but Stepping up again. Here I just. I think it's a cigar really goes with Mr Buff. It's going to be tough writing for anybody. To beat the buff should mention it to Santa. Anita there the point of vistas the feature but the maiden special weight right before it in race four baffert has a half million dollar. First Tiber. Fantastic Day for spendthrift that is twelve to one in the morning line. I found that a little bit surprising exalted. Who was second behind the doll? Is Your two one favourite. Think they were going to run this horse in the mine. That Bird Derby on Sunday over at Sunland but they're going to instead run at Santa Anita and this made special but there's some good looking horses in here Yang again. The number six was second on debut at four to five took some money that day to day and battle much of the journey just able unable to get it or you know horse the figures right in the mix after after that effort so Thought it was a pretty good made and then the Buena Vista is really interesting. You have a group of Horses. Coming out of the megahertz stakes. You have muccio unusual and lip prance a lot coming out of their one-two finish. The American League translate made that huge. Move down the inside way for room for Joe Bravo. Joe's taking the flight over to go ride this again clearly likes his philly. And then you have Joa LIPOIC. Who's your eight to five favorite? Who you know was kind of turf sprint. In her first couple starts and then she won a group one at a mile in Brazil by three no by six and then last time out went five and a half of the Las Vegas and was a very easy winner if you go watch that replay just sat second and went by very nicely and so. I'm sure the buzz is very extreme on this horse drawn the radio. She's clearly got some speed drawn. The rails going to be good for her caresses right next to her has some speed as well. So things she could get kept company up there but Really excited to see kind of how this race shapes up my optics plot. It looks like the The early pace should be a pretty strong and lady. Prance a lot as a really awesome closer. I just have to wonder if you know. Sh she she does. She need her setup or choose. Nuclear running short price on deep turf closes for me is just always scary. 'cause they always have to have things go their way a little bit because if they do slow things down trying to close at twenty two and four twenty. Three final quarters from four five links back is just so hard for these horses to do. It's just difficult and Brill's back here. Brill of course set the pace in the megahertz and kind of went a little quick that day. But you remember to starts back went. Wire-to-wire lady shamrock. The entry of interest to me was keeper of the stars because I love the stars to three starts back kind of said last time. Look she didn't really have any excuses and got beat by a number of these horses so I'm off the keeper of the stars train and if our shows past performances or any indication of what should happen here keeper the stars should win at a big press because I mean I saw Jonathan Watson go gaidon Eddie gets talked to a very long but this is kind of his Barn Stars Far Southern California and she was going really really well there for a little while last year in the in the fall and summer but just as not been able to get things back going. But it's a big field. It's there's some interesting storylines in the point of Vista. I should mention also at Gulfstream. I forgot to mention it earlier. One of the main special wits. I always love the the buzz horses for the first timers because sometimes they work out. I remember my buddy swift. He was touting that one a few weeks ago and I mentioned it on the show and at one and I always kind of tease. The the the buzz horses because a lot of times you know. There's a few workout reports. Ever a lot of people subscribe to open. Everybody thinks they have like this. Real great insight info when everybody else has at the horses get hammered at the windows. And it's supposed to happen again. I think on on Saturday. It's a race three number. Four leaves point five to two in the morning on. I think is kind of the Buzz. Horse for a lot of folks for pletcher coming over from Palm Beach against so we'll see if the if the morning worked folks are right again or if If they'll swim miss it you know if they swing and miss then. Somebody's getting paid and if they hit. Then everybody's getting paid so that's going to wrap up this edition of the Jason Horse Racing. Podcast What I once again. Thank everybody for the great emails This Week. Got A lot of them. I'm going to be a little bit busy the next couple of days but if you send an email I will try to get back to you Sunday when I get all back settled in and yeah.
