"Some prisoners at the Federal Penitentiary in Leavenworth Kansas rioted for several hours today, a guard was killed and four other guards were taken hostage. The murdered guard was unarmed thirty nine and a father of three. Mac had watched the weapons killed him be made. It was around this time when the true gravity of his circumstances hit him like a ton of bricks. This was the rest of his life. Now, the drab pointless unforgiving world of prison. Mack wanted out. And while he would conjure numerous escape attempts over the next few years, they were often half-baked and abandoned before he could execute them. But that would soon change. I was put in segregation just segregating I think in late. Nineteen seventy five. Separated from everyone but the other prisoners isolated to their own neighboring cells. Mac would meet another sky jacker. A career criminal a man he would ultimately come to admire there was an error of celebrity about him and I could see this. A man with whom years later he would hatch execute in insane brazen plan to escape from the confines of prison. He was intelligent. Competent effective in the criminal activities that he was involved in. And sure I had respect for that. was interesting fell interesting character. that. Man. Was Garrett Trap Nell. Next time on American Sky Jacker we need trap the Fox but looking back on a personal that have to have some mental instability to do the things he did I can't imagine myself or even use a little bit. I know he's going to the airport and hijacking airplanes can imagine a normal person doing that. He went down face down a jumped on top of him and try to grab his hands because he said he had a bomb. "Hitman. FBI INFORMANT A prison escape a van explosion and so much more. I'm Jason Hoke Creator. Creator of Gangster House and producer. PODCAST mega hits Atlanta Monster Broken hearts and monster the Zodiac killer. Listen to gangster house right now on your favorite podcast. PODCAST player this fall. Don't miss all the hottest content from Hulu with reality. Seeing competition shows like the Massingir which is one of my my favorite and the voice and the funniest comedies like Bob's Burgers Family Guy South Park. And it's always sunny in Philadelphia which I haven't missed an episode of because it's one of my favorites grits Hulu has the TV. You love and I love obviously and you can bend any time with plans. Starting at only five ninety nine a month. What a steel? So nobody waiting for. Don't miss your favorite content. This ball go to Hulu Dot Com and start your free trial now. What was your breaking point where you're like I'm done with this show? This isn't for us. Well obviously everyone knows now that they were right. Jim were having. I mean they tried to say we were having marital issues. I don't think I knew back then that I was necessarily like going to actually divorce. But we've always had a tumultuous relationship. We were just kind of like after after about being married we were just a little oil and water and it seemed like we spent eight years in therapy. So if that tells you something if you've spent eight years of your fourteen year marriage therapy. There's there's some things going on at your trying to try to work through but I would never admit to myself that it was going to be divorced because in our minds divorce wasn't an option but What was the question now I forgot? What was your voice so I think so? I quit your three because I was so tired of just the attacks and all the fighting while Alday asked me to come back for your four and I said yes and then they gave me a good year and so then I'm like well. Okay I'll stay on. And then they let me go so I think they wanted to just kind of do like A. Here's Alexis in a better light kind of thing and now she's gone kind of thing I don't know I wish the rabbit rabbit. Who knows what Bravo's thinking but I just be like that's kind of what it was because it's like I quit? Coerced me back into coming back. And then they let me go when I was ready to stay on which. I'm glad I didn't stay on now. Because you know I really needed to just focus on my marriage and trying to do one hundred ten percent of that but it still failed but that's okay. Yeah and you know. It's not a failure right because you have your amazing children. You did everything you could. You are the woman that you are stronger longer for it. You have learned so much through so I don't think there is such a thing as marriage failure. You know. Yeah I wouldn't be who I was and I don't regret any of it like obviously and if I didn't have the kids I wouldn't look back and say I regret any part of it because I do feel like it helped me become who I really am. So yeah you know he's my friend he'll be my friend forever because we have three beautiful children together and he's the father of my kids so right and good for you to give it all you hot because some people folded eight years ago I was not going to go down without a huge fight because I really believe when you take those vows like I do believe it's before God right and you're supposed to do everything you can to make it work. Yeah and God knows you did. I did Haida though. It's like you can only do so much now. Moving on and the next chapter and I think that's a good example for kids to right. I do think it's a good example. Like hey we tried and you need to do what's best for you in life also gets. Yeah it's important to do that but it's important to take care of yourself and sometimes things we're gonNA come from divorced parents and I love it personally like as an adult and when that happened it was so fun to have two houses in two families and I never had like died. Hardship from it was always really fun for me and even as an adult I love having being divorced parents because although okay okay we prayed for you and and now my kids get our son gets another set of grandparents right. His grandparents run thin. Everybody wants the grandparents. My Mom's in here God's here it's nice to have one more support system for them so I think it was hard on my kids at I like any I mean Jimmy. I tried to make it the easiest as we could. We missed it for a while. Which means you live in the same home but you like when I have the kids on my time? I'm in the home. And when he has the kids he's in the home leaves so we did that for like almost three months just to kind of help. The kids acclimated to what it was going. It'd be like when I wanted to move out because we have a three Acre state and I did not WanNa live in that big of a property with by myself as a single mom so I found a home in left left but but now like I said the other day. It's the funniest thing that you just mentioned that she goes she one of my friends. She said this to my friends and my friend came and told me she goes so why Jackson goes. I love having divorced. Parents become rich Keila mobile home here. Yeah and I and I saw marriage boot camp that you were there with your mom and that's so nice. You guys had that time because I did a similar show with my mom. It was called the mother daughter experiment. Okay so and something interesting. That came up for me on that. Show that that therapist said that I want I felt like Kinda applied to. is they really say. It's never the daughters fault right between mother and daughter like at that age and when it's young long lake the therapist I had in that show Dr. Debbie said at that point when you become adults the dynamic changes right you need you to shift into like more of an adult mother situation but as a child and growing up as a child is never the daughters fault. Well it's interesting because that's not not what happened on my boot camp. I was surprised so my and this is what really irks me and when you saw me meltdown in wanting to leave. Obviously they don't show everything that's being said but I wanted to leave because number one. I was getting ganged up on and it was all my fault. I'm sitting here as the kid and it's my our relationship is the way it is right. which is bullsh- because hey right now my mom and she knows it asks me to do everything? Put My lashed. Go give me this. Give me that do this. Let's let's do a little like she needed my Hollick. She looks up to me. I got picked up she. You Ain't got fix everything back now. She acts like this hippie. Ju She has a Hippie but she does this whole different role on tv like she just became this other person. And I'm like I like Gosh. This is really stinks. But then Dr v did come out and say I was being fake and phony because I wouldn't shoot a gun. I didn't believe I needed a paintball. Someone one to get my feelings across I just said I think you're the one that's to blame. So when I got called that I just it just brought up a bunch of stuff from housewives because they called me phony to even though this is the real meat like I I really am. This is me. I'm not being phony. I don't know why everybody thinks it's funny but it's not But I mean some of the things on your phone but my personality is really legitimately Alexis us but so then I'm packing. I'm thinking you know what they're not even showing like my mom half the time. Can you put my fake lashes on for me. Can you do this for me like I. I literally had to take care of her from the time I was twelve on and I think they're going to turn around. I did talk to one of the producers. I think they're going to turn it around a little bit towards the end and show a little bit more of like why why. I am the caretaker that I am and why do seem phony because I do WanNa take care of. If you guys are here I would be asking you do you need you need some water. Do you need some this because I'm trying to like kiss your booty. It's that's just my personality so that also goes into something for our boot camp. That applies is one of your love. Language is right Sali taking care of people and so everybody has a different love language and not one of the ways that you show love like. There's not a problem with that rots love language and not what's you need that to be acknowledged and met and maybe you know maybe your mom hasn't acknowledged how much you do for her or whatever so it's like we have a different love languages. What are what are what are yours? I WanNa know you love wine Sushi since she likes she. What's my main affectionately? Ah Yes touch. gifts what are the other two hiding so it's quality time gifts affection but that's not words have affirmation formation but then mine's he's not a love. Language gift are taking care of people gift-giving right. And today we're going to talk about something called class. Legally this is another broadcast that that addresses a practical matter that will affect your management of menopause. You see if you are listening to my broadcasts as they come out one at a time in order. I think you're probably realising that there's so much more to MIDOPA's management than can you imagine. The things you need to know are not going to be in any book walk if you have even a minute interest in the mere possibility of ever using any kind of hormonal no product for any aspect of your menopause whether it's pharmaceutical comp hounded bio identical non bio identical or over the counter. You need eight to listen to this broadcast. Because I'm going to reveal fax. It will really had you scratching your head. So what start this discussion on class labeling ebeling by defining the word class class is a group of things that constitute a group because of their common features for purposes of our topic. Today the class will be hormonal medications. Yes so the hormones for mid applause belong to this class all so then what his class labeling class lamely is all the drugs and the class had the same information and about risks on their labels. It's really simple. If the drug is hormone it has to have a warning warning about the risks of hormones on it label regardless of what kind of hormone it is. So what are the risks Hormonal medications well. They're the same risks hormones that were originally in your body Heart Disease Strip Rob Watson cancer all the same. Did you ever stop to think about the risks your own hormones Carey in your own body do you know. The biggest risk of all is it. Pregnancy pregnancy carries the highest risk. A woman will ever face saw. Aw Hormones have rinse but risk is a possibility not an inevitability risk ask is something you take every day even when you get in your car and drive somewhere you take a Ritz Ed class. Labeling uses a simple principle in requiring that all hormone Ramon Medications be labelled identically with regard to these risks Nestle people referred referred these warnings as black box warnings. They are all the things that could happen no matter how slight the risk but the problem with class labeling or black box warnings is that they are terms and practices unique to the F. D. A. Or Food and Drug Administration so class labeling is something that only the FDA does and all the FDA DA puts black box warnings on drugs. So let me play out a common scenario for you. Let's say you go to your doctor to address your menopause management. You tell the doctor that you have severe symptoms of menopause pause and that you want H. R. T. And yes, white woman more than her black children, friends and neighbors noticed how robotic in thin her kids were, but in the end they trust to Jen more than their own is she also new political correctness would be a shield against unwanted scrutiny. She knew the power of strong narrative on social media. She knew how much people mostly white people wanted to believe images of racial reconciliation, whether it was fawning over. Devante hugging that cop or liking Facebook images of their rainbow family. When I see the gen was good. She was good. One of my early role models for what like non traditional family, look light. Everyone was very envious of them because of how they could pull this off how they can raise these six quote, unquote, developmentally delayed children. There's no part of me and all of my looking magnets capable of seeing that it was just assuring reassume peeper who are our views. Most inner pine it lies, but also in their public lives, and we know this now non to be true. No. Doesn't look like they were normal. Kids didn't really have friends. They were small. So we thought they had been kindergarten. The kids are skinny well. We just not they're eating organic food. When I realized that she was like, there's no way in hell. Those kids are learning. It's impossible with the amount of time. She was devoting to us to our game. That was an issue for her, and you know, being gay. I guess so I just thought, you know, I don't want her to think that I'm being judgmental. I just want to be a good neighbor tunnel. Like most people don't want to get involved. I feel guilty for not realizing that the us were red flag was like God. I totally bought into absolute ethnic races playing apart base. Kids are being used the prop these white lady seaman and safety six black children. Nice work you save. You know, that was the narrative which just. Parents do operate this way in a local did where symbols of racial harmony, and our kids or are evidence of that. As we love kids so much. Heartbreaking the fact that that would be utilized of the way to math some of the abuse neglect. It was happening if it's just deficit urban, and too many people bought in Jenin Sarah Hart got away with what they did. Because there were green lights where there should have been red ones. "It's easier for someone like me who doesn't have a suspect or a theory when I'm asked to question it's easier for me to say, I don't know because that's the truth. And that's the most honest answer someone can give you, but a lot of people aren't satisfied by the truth, and they're not satisfied by a mystery people crave answers. And if someone's telling you, I have all the answers that can be very attractive very compelling for a lot of people. And I think like a lot of things in society. Someone would rather be satisfied with the wrong answer, then be satisfied with no answer at all. The name zodiac is very much like the boogeyman, especially it's the American version of Jack the ripper in many ways, we don't know who the zodiac was he's a mystery that name for me it still scares me. A lot to be honest with you. It's terrifying. What he did? And what he got away with the fact that he got away with it at all as terrifying. So when I hear that name, the first thing that pops into my mind is he still out there? We don't know who is we don't really know anything more than what we did almost fifty years ago about him. He could be anyone he could be that guy that looks across the street from you and comes at pica's newspaper up in the morning or someone in your family, the name zodiac, it's come to stand for many different things in the popular culture about true crime. You know, he's either master criminal or some kind of drilling maniac or whatever. But for me, I've always viewed him more as a person. That makes them much more. Terrifying. To me. At this point. I had heard and read so much about the lovers lane on lake Herman road. But I'd never seen it with my own eyes. I wanted to know exactly what David Faraday and Betty Lou Johnson saw when they encountered the zodiac that night. So the team and I- including our executive producer Jason Hoke flew out to the bay area in the lake urban road site was first destination we headed east from Vallejo on lake Herman road for a little over three miles. One of the first things you see is a huge rock quarry on the left and the relatively small Kermit on the right, but other than that it's just rolling hills and very few signs of civilization. The site itself is located about a mile across the current Benicia California line what referring to as a lover's lane is actually just a small turn off to a private road. That road leads down the hill to Benicia police department shooting range, there's a large metal gate blocking the road. And it's. Cured by numerous single key locks. It's strange. This is it this turn off. There's there's nothing here. If you'll unlikely right? She's very unlikely this is in the middle kind of country road with a little pole off. If you're standing here at the entrance where the gate is. And you look out there's no human beings. I think this is the kind of place that zodiac killer knows kids come and make out in a car knows. They're going to be vulnerable. Just pitch black. It's like easy prey for him. Just be on the fencing. There's an old sign that says no trespassing in new dumping in on the front of this sign someone at some point spree. Painted a large black zodiac symbol. Brushing your teeth is probably the least risky thing you can do. Or is it part of that depends on.

One thing is clear the nightmare of that traumatic time sticks with many even to this day.
