million to over 50 billion So let's talk a little bit about traveling to different countries and hunting down specific companies What do you recall as a particularly spectacular investment that you discovered after traveling to a country and were just really surprised by what you found researching a company Probably the best example was in China that was when we discovered a company that in China that made the gears for wind power companies It's about 15 years ago That's when the whole area of wind power was coming up strong And this company was doing incredible work We visited the factory and I noticed that the machine tools they were making were top notch automated machine tools And they were doing very high quality work according to their customers So we decided we'd invest in that company and that turned out to be an incredibly investment with double triple price we paid So that was probably one good example of doing on the ground research and finding something that other people are not noticing And by the way I think that's one of the features of good investing is finding something that other people are not defining In other words try to discover a company that has not been yet so called discovered by the market What about the opposite Did you ever show up somewhere excited about a specific company And only to discover hey this isn't what we were hoping for Many times And of course many times we will fool by the information we are getting and very missteps along the way It is the feature of investing anyway as you know but the emerging markets you have to be special and be very very extra careful So when you started doing this in the late 80s was anyone else from the United States or other U.S. investment firms actually traveling the world looking at companies you sort of the Indiana Jones of this how long did it take for other investment firms to say hey we need an EM or a developed ex U.S. fund and we need someone like Mobius out kick in the tires They took about 5 years for the field to grow where once they saw the results that we were getting a lot of people began to jump on the bag like and you must remember that the pioneer on this was the IFC the international finance corporation They started emerging markets in social funds about a similarly than we started our fund So they were on that as you know they were the precursor to the index because there's capital international they were the people that were doing researches of companies all around the world So you started venturing into Africa way earlier than just about everybody else what led you to discover that continent and how have the results been Well you know as the assets expanded we really had to find new opportunities everywhere And Africa was wide open There was so much there And of course the initial business there really excited us because we realized this is ground that has not been told in any direction lots of opportunities where there is no information which is an advantage because if you are on the ground if you're able to travel these places and get information then you have an edge on the any competitive ones to come in So I saw a tremendous opportunity in places like South Africa in Nigeria In Kenya and of course Africa is so huge There are so many countries that tremendous opportunities Of course the big challenge was to find an equity market as stock market And liquidity of course one of the biggest challenges you get of course is.

Well that's the good news and the bad news right. The good news is is that you are seeing a bunch of guys that are just playing ball and and enjoying playing together and people getting in the first opportunity extended time on the field. Like the swindles. Like the wisdom's like your tegas to guard their show that they're very good professional ballplayers and Not having to look over their shoulders to see one the manager is going to take him out or if they're gonna put him back in against their starting ball players in the major leagues with the chicago cubs. One of the story franchises in baseball. And they are absorbing it and taking every advantage in the world with it but with that comes e reality that There is that weight offers shoulders of people because of the fact that you're not expected to win. You're not playing for anything. Right in front of of of the stands and started started talking to some fans and they pointed to a security guard the security guard it came over to him whispered something in his ears and he started to break down crying again. We do not have any update Albert visibly shaken. Eventually we learned that the child was at least talking and and awake when they left. I think that kind of comforted Albert. He was able to fully release all that emotion and that you know very visible reaction that no more had continued through the game obviously and then to the post game press conference and he was very he was still very shaken in in the clubhouse. It's one of those moments as a reporter where it's really tough you. You know you have to talk to the guy but it's also clear that he doesn't have a lot to say he's he's still shaken by it. As a survey hit the first person I locked eyes was hurt so obviously I want that to happen an intent for that to happen the rest was kind of a blur the rest of that bat.
