Dallas Cowboys fire defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and defensive line coach Jim Tomsula

"Do have some breaking news on friday afternoon. The first friday after the dallas cowboys season ended an unfortunate start the new year for their staff. That dallas cowboys. Making some you know some obvious news in a bit of surprise news the dallas cowboys announcing that defensive coordinator. Mike nolan defensive. Line coach jim. Tom soula have been let go. Have been whatever you wanna call it fire to buy the team. They will not be back in two thousand and twenty one. Mike nolan obviously oversaw. One of the worst defenses to ever live ever played in the nfl. And so we'd heard. Rumblings obviously had been reported different instances over kind of the last month that it was likely he was not going to be back although mike nolan. If you're somehow unaware is is rather chummy with mike mccarthy dallas cowboys head coach mike mccarthy they go way back in case. You forgot mike. Nolan was the head coach of the san francisco. Forty niners in two thousand and five and mike mccarthy offensive corner at the time that was of course the year. The forty niners took alex smith with a number one overall pick. Ironically the quarterback that won the division that they were together here. This season with the dallas cowboys. Jim thome soula was a head coach of the forty niners at one point in time himself albeit for only a year obviously following in the footsteps of jim harbaugh who got an extension today of all days again with the university of michigan so lots of symmetry going on here and so. Yeah i mean my canola thing. I think everybody saw coming a mile away. The jim thome solo thing is a bit of a surprise austin on youtube. Says i thought it said mccarthy and was like whoa still good to get rid of nolan and this is how every cowboys fan feels. And let's be frank. Let's be honest. We don't enjoy talking about people losing their jobs. People getting fired or things like that but this defense was among the worst again in the history of this game. The dallas cowboys last week. With their season on the line against an offense that had been anemic for most of the season the new york giants that was incidentally again. You talk about all. The irony here led by former dallas cowboys head coach jason garrett in the giants offensive coordinator who again to go kind of crazy circle reportedly had an interview today on friday with the los angeles chargers for their head coaching vacancy. But the cowboys new york with their season on the line and they got run over. I mean the new york giants before last week against the cowboys. The previous four games. The giants had not scored more than three points in a single first half in each of the four games. The giants played before the cowboys. They went into the locker room at halftime with no more than three points. They put twenty up in the first half against the cowboys. And that was kind of what the season was for the cowboys right. This never ending display of imperfection this never ending run of records getting broken records getting set and i just you know this was inevitable. I mean shutout. Of course to the all encompassing thanos. I mean this truly was inevitable. Reality a lotta people myself. Included wondered what took so long this week. It's a pair at the mike mccarthy and his staff overall were evaluating things doing kind of the final walk throughs and assessments in whatever time just came for them to move

Dallas Cowboys Offensive Line In Flux Due To Injuries

"Have lots of talk about as it relates the cowboys I just what I think of this team this year and the expectations after Jerry Jones finally made the gutting decision that led to Jason Garrett showing up the building every day with a binder underneath his arm and dutifully hoping that he would. Get a stay of execution cowboy fan celebrated not only the draft pick a CD lamb but a coach was skins. Mike McCarthy hasn't exactly translated into the season that they had hoped for, and we're expecting some of it has to do with injuries bobby and we'll get to those in a second but a lot of teams are having to deal with injuries this year. Yeah. I, mean, the team the cowboys have up here the browns they've got a lot of injuries to deal with I. Mean The seahawks had you know a lot of patchwork stuff that they were doing last Sunday against the cowboys and so injuries are an excuse they're not necessarily a good excuse though for this cowboys team I think they, they definitely are missing some guys. They probably feel a little bit like we're not gonNA know who we are for real until probably mid October when randy gets reinstated fully you get hopefully late and vander aeschbacher. Corner start getting healthy so. It may be a situation where the cowboys are kind of you know we're GONNA fight and we're GONNA get as best we can until we get healthy and that's not necessarily an excuse that they're giving. It's just this is the way it's gotta be, and we kind of make do a little bit because they are decimated in the secondary. They've had issues at linebacker they've you know had the issues along the offensive line they lost jar when they're starting tight end and So I, mean they've definitely. Had those issues the thing that they don't want. You, you can't really do anything about injuries. You just adapt as best. You can the thing they don't want his they can't have. Three drops and you know two and a half yards per touch from Zeke Elliott. They can't have Jalen Smith missing tackles consistently and still be sixty million dollar guy they can't have. Dak Prescott turning the ball over. They need to have him protecting the ball. They can't have you know some of these. Occasional Amari Cooper focus drops. You expect injuries you deal with those. What you can have is all of that and then along in the secondary, you can't have guys just making really low I q reads and busted covered just stuff that doesn't seem to be a factor of trying to learn a new defense. This just seems like flat out low I q stuff of not recognizing who's assignment is who's You know I think back to Jalen Smith's comment to a about. Throwing it out through a little bit. Maybe they need to simplify the playbook if our fans aren't familiar with that one, let's play that one real quick. People, find beams the defense could innocent the group. Absolutely. Absolutely. I. Believe. Allowing more allowing US more opportunities to Hound in on what? We're actually going to run in in our game plan. I believe it's important. That each and every player knows in and out what they have to do. With a smaller playbook, you you know gives us better opportunity to do that. And like I said this about as growing each and every week. On coaches are the same page, the players on the same page and we're just trying to do whatever it takes to get that much better. Each and everyone is that players that aren't capable of learning the playbook or is it possibly too complicated? I don't know but I, got to tell you for all the people that wanted Rod. Marinelli Outta here have been overly impressed with Mike Nolan's defense. Again, injuries are an issue, I mean you lose Gerald McCoy loosely Van Deresh. You lose your to starting Corner Anthony Brown, and Lucy, but even they were healthy in that first game. I didn't think this team look that good. No, and you know it's again it's one of those things where not even a mention he's been healthy for the season but Jordan Lewis missed all the camp. I. Sale. Yeah. Exotic Woods was a big part of your problem last Sunday against the seahawks but I think overall everybody's got to step up. You know it's funny. We had Had the funny line during training camp. When asked him do you think about opting out at all and he said, Nope, contract to your baby and there's a lot of guys back there right now in contractors Jordan Lewis Cheeto you've got exertive your woods is another one. And it's fascinating that they're seeming to have these issues not just with again, the adjustment or or or skill players opposite them it's they're just dropping the ball in terms of. Knowing really basic fundamental stuff that that should have been all ironed out already and and you can say, maybe that's a a an issue with you didn't have some of the same lead up time or some of the same work that you would normally get but everybody had those same sort of issues and and not everybody is having these same sorts of just busted coverage touchdowns. I. Think there's four already on the year that were just left wide open by somebody not knowing an assignment including three last week against the

"Jones is right he told us that Jason Garrett would be coaching in the NFL come next season and in fact he will be doing just that he's been hired by Joe judge and the New York Giants to be there all offensive coordinator we had a great day together you know you know I didn't know Joe real well been around about a couple different occasions I good conversations with them really good football conversations and now he and I know a lot of the same people I work for coach saving you work for coach David coach is always said such great things about Jo and so many other people that he's been around that I've been around said the same thing Jason Garrett on the giants in the huddle podcast and he was eager to make comments right away I'm happy for him I think as much as the Dallas Cowboys needed a fresh start and they're thrilled about their new head coach Mike McCarthy Jason Garrett needed something fresh and new as well I I tease the bunch up before that the cowboys actually made the announcement but my hash tag was free Jason Garrett let him go do something else let him go work in a different capacity although it is interesting right that he stays in the NFC east the board to be really humorous why the giants though that was the question that he was that's right off the job just a first class organization and you you think about the history and tradition the New York Giants franchise in and what the merits of build the what the tissues of bill and all the great teams all the great coaches all the great players will get a part of this organization throughout its history and you know when you're playing this organization like I was four years you feel that Jason Garrett the new offense of coordinator who gets to work with none other than Daniel Jones interesting to hear what giants fans think about having chasing gear at again with inside the organization now jump to their often through coordinator spot where he was so maligned even after Gallimore took over the place calling full painting all the all kinds of what was that let's be honest the Dallas Cowboys had a really good off into season that was not the reason why they didn't end up winning the and it's easy getting back to the playoffs in the stats for Jack NZ Kelly it don't tell you the whole story but their office of numbers were better than a good portion of what we saw from the yeah the rest of the NFL Jack was over four thousand yards as the Ellie and continues to do what it is that he's paid to do and yet still a lot of people pointing to Jason Garrett because the often didn't do enough well now here is going to be working with the second year quarterback in New York in Daniel Jones I want to start by and really what Joe said in an introductory press conference you know I have an outsider's perspective on the giant a great respect for the organization great respect for the players on the team that would compete against but again it's it's coming from the outside I can't wait to get on the inside and and start to work with some of these guys and you know you mentioned Daniel Jones we thought a lot of coming out of college we weren't in the market for a quarterback it in the first round the year that he came out at the same time you go through that evaluation process and you know anybody who was around him in our organization with the cowboys just thought the world of does that sound excited I mean for sure most of the questions that he's been in three over the past few months have been about his job status and about why the cowboys were under achieving but still he felt rejuvenated yes like he's really looking forward to this challenge but dear lord what do I tell you all the time bonus points if you can tell me quickly what analogy I use to talk about the end of the east the changes in this division even in the starting from the days after the regular season ended the Redskins Tyron Rivera and now they're bringing in this incredible coaching staff as the cowboys who's who of coaching with Mike McCarthy you got Rivera and McCarthy who both banister brawls McCarthy of course is one the giants who wire Joe judge the people had to Google even in Boston to know who he was that we have an incredible coaching pedigree he brings then beat recently I would say fire but not really fire just mutual parting of ways victim with the Dallas Cowboys and now he's got Jason Garrett is often the coordinator and bopping engineers we'll be coaching and the eagles play their way into these title deserve credit for that also had a recent Super Bowl and the Super Bowl winning coach indict Peterson yep soap opera never a dull moment in the end of the east you can buy me on Twitter a all radio fill in the blank the Superbowl match up is what I've gone through a bunch of your Facebook post all get through some of your tweets as well our phone number eight five five two one two four two two seven all by the way in case you.

"One thousand three hundred stores or online at office depot dot COM em drive Amtrak dot com code. Her twenty percent off your first month. Refiner prime with 'em drive more lean muscle Jeff Schwartz and a couple of minutes. I think it's interesting. We're all talking about Joe Borough and to Greg Cosell was talking about borough and any sounds like I do which I think burrows a good candidate a nice prospect. I don't think he's over the top great so it. It's forty funny so Justin Herbert. We've forgot about him because the SEC dominates the South Dominates College football the NFL is not regionalized. You've got Silicon Valley this week. You had Seattle title yet. The Northeast and Philadelphia made the playoffs. You got the Mid West and Kansas City Green Bay. You got the south in Nashville in New Orleans. I mean the. NFL gives us all sorts of good teams all over the Country College College. Football does not ten of the eleven last National Championship Games. There's been a team from the SEC. West College football's regionalized and the SEC. There's three three hundred and forty. NFL players from the. It's the best conference easily. They won nine of eleven bowl games this year. But they don't give quarterbacks they don't the the best one in the league right now is Dak okay. There are more good quarterbacks in the NFL from cal the Seventh Best Program in the PAC twelve in the SEC. It it is not I know. We're talking burrow into Justin. Herbert this week worked out with TJ Huffman. Donahue was show yesterday. Herbert had thirty five touched. Thirty two touchdowns six picks sixty seven percent completion rate and remember. This is an Oregon with three star wide receivers. This is Oregon. This is not Lsu issue with Oh BJ's and Jarvis Landry so clemson. This is Oregon players. Justin Herbert was also much better than Joe Bill as a junior again with Oregon in players. So this is TJ yesterday talking about. Herbert six six to twenty with a rocket arm Eh. He's mobile animal man in a hall man. Unbelievable cannon big like he's so big great armed good touch like it was probably ran routes for about forty five minutes to one hour you did. I didn't I was out there watching working with the guys that I work when he they're running around his Oregon's quarterback Oregon's his quarterbacking guys getting ready for the draft in a way he's throwing. The ball is wow. It's unreal now this kid's got a cannon and he's he's B- I said he he looks like to me Trevor Lawrence although not quite as gifted not sure if he's got the Alpha not sure he's a four point biology major big strong but remember Carson. wentz is much better from North Dakota state than anybody in the SEC. Of the twelve quarterbacks who made the playoffs this year none were from the SEC. The Mountain West had a quarterback the had a couple of the pack twelve the Big Ten big twelve Ohio Valley Conference quarterback none from the SEC. I mean take the manning family out. They don't produce a lot of great quarterbacks they produce a lot of great athletes they produce. Boss Tiba was a bus jamarcus. Russell was the bus. Johnny Mandel was a bust. He Schuler was a boss boss. But it's funny about this. It's a big world out there for quarterbacks whereas the SEC is the best conference no question crashed in the Sec West is the best division no question the SEC dominates the Bulls no question the SEC's got the best fans. And the best TV ratings Blah Blah Blah check Tek Tek uh-huh. They don't develop the best quarterback. That's not what the conference is because a lot of quarterback don't want to go on the SEC. Because it's about defense and running games and the coaches star in the running running backs to star in the defensive lines bay so California's still produces and Texas still produce quarterbacks and Justin Herbert guy to keep keep your eye on another story that we need to address here is Kyrie Irving. Now there's a big difference if you look at the history of the NBA. Most most of your great players share a trait. They're not all tall and they're not all great shooters and they're not all strong and they're not all great defenders. What is the trait? That most franchise superstar A.. Plus players have mental antle discipline mental toughness. MJ Kobe Bird Magic. Lebron this is why I never understood. Kevin Durant choosing kyrie Irving steph curry mental toughness emotional discipline. He doesn't say stuff like the world is flat APP yesterday. Kyrie irving came out and talked about all the needs. The Brooklyn Nets have a need here. It it is transparent is out there you know is glaring in terms of the pieces that we need in order for us to be at that next level collectively feel like we have great pieces but obviously the it's pretty glaring. We need one more piece or two more pieces that will complement myself. Katie DJ GT Spence Karasin. We'll see how that evolves yes. It's not the end of the world but generally you don't WanNa call out who you think are really important pieces in who are not really important pieces by the way. The Nets are five and nine nine when Kyrie's on the floor. They're better five hundred when he's not in the Boston. Celtics are now significantly. Better since Kyrie. Are- Irving left Kyri irving is a flake. He's an artist. He's gifted he's special. But you can't build your a franchise around him and he's not a great teammate. And he doesn't help teams win. I don't know why we argue about this stuff. When I saw Cari Irvine get hurt in Brooklyn I was like of course I got her? He gets hurt everywhere when I saw kyrie irving meltdown earlier this year and say things. That weren't cool. I'm like well. Of course that's what he's done his whole career. He's a bad decision maker. That doesn't mean he's not a great basketball player doesn't mean he's not one of the great artists and the great closers. He's all those things but if you look at the history of the NBA The people that you build a franchise around. Tim Duncan Akeem. Dwayne Wade Lebron Magic Bird. Kobe West they all. We'll have the exact same strength. They're very strong emotionally. They are grownups. They're disciplined they're not artists they're businesspeople businesspeople. The understand the locker room in the temperature and I just think it's crazy that Kevin Durant had the opportunity to play with staff so how easy it was. And then he chose a guy that bailed on the brawn and bailed on Brad Stevens and both flourished without him and he has not so. You know. It's funny when I see these stories on Kyrie Irving people are like. Can you believe what he said. Well of course I can. He bailed on the Braun. He bailed on a coach. Brad Stevens. WHO's been good with every point? Guard Kemba Walker tearing it up course Brad Stevens so oh. I've never been a Cairo guy. I think it's incredibly problematic in poor judgment for Katie to leave Steph and Kerr and a great roster to Brooklyn Brooklyn I know. NBA Player empowerment. I get it but quarterbacks don't leave teams with good coaches. She's good offensive linemen and good receivers. They don't that'd be stupid. Maybe Patrick Mahomes Gourd to leave tyreek Hill and Travis Kelsey and Andy Read. It'd be doing. I don't understand that Kevin Durant smart guy. Apparently very aware watches kyri really. Lebron watches him bail and says yeah. That's what I want to go play with. I don't get sometimes. You GotTa get out of your own way and what's happening inning with Brooklyn. This year is exactly what I thought would happen. which is these guys? Even chose the second most important franchise in New York Basketball Bowl. Why wouldn't you just choose the Knicks over Brooklyn while the owner? What the owner in Brooklyn's amazing young the NBA's funny is that I'm four player empowerment? Our I always have been I support. Katie when he leaves I support Lebron when he bounces around. I GET IT I. I've moved around. I'd be a total hypocrite to not support players moving around but I do not support any player leaving a good situation to go to less of a situation. The warriors have one of the best owners. One of the best coaches one of the best superstars and I think Kevin Durant is going to regret it for years that he chose injury prone and emotionally inconsistent. Kyrie Irving I thought it was a huge branding mistake and a huge mistake. And you're seeing it and this team last year. Remember Brooklyn the story on Brooklyn was you know. I didn't sit and watch a bunch of Brooklyn Games but the whole story was the chemistry is good. The hungers good the dudes like like each other and they snuck into the playoffs and that was kind of the story of the team. It's toast now literally. They're worse when he's on the floor so don't confuse it's not anti Kyri. He's really talented. He's Westbrook I mean I'm not John Wall Derrick rose. I'm not Zach Levine. I'm not denying the town that stopped the question. But that doesn't mean exact. Levine's fun to play would westbrook's having his worst year Bradley. Beal never feels these elevated with John Wall and I don't think anybody I don't think I remains anybody better. I think Kyri makes Kyrie you better but this year the natural thirteen and three one. He doesn't dress. They've lost twice as many games as they won when he does. What does that tell you? And by the way last night. It coming off a minus twenty nine plus minus of minus twenty nine. He said that comment do your. The problem is team made the playoffs without you there. Five hundred without you your the issue never ends with Kyrie. We'll give you more updates. Jeff Schwartz get him hooked up next hour. Jeff officials stopped by as well L. and four great teams left in the NFL. Each one of these Games is a movie poster for potential Super Bowls. which ones do we like? and which ones ones don't we like. That's coming up. Penguins and Bruins in today's discover card key matchup discover matches all the cash. Back you earn your first year automatically no limit which is awesome.

"Just a special athlete in. Here's my thing is when I watched. San Francisco's defensive line. I said this the eighty five bears. It was just this velocity losses where they were winning individual match ups and collectively. They were suffocating. I think we forget Greg. The niners star eight now then everybody gets hurt now so they're healthier again. In the middle of the season they lost both tackles there fullback George kibble they lost. They lost defensive Lineman when I look at their individual all defensive lineman on film. Do they just win battle after battle individually. They do that but they also are very good with stunts. And what you're going to see in this game. They will attack the right guard. Turner Billy Turner for the packers. They will attack him individually and with stunts he really struggles and what they do is they. They line up either Ford or both inside at times over the guard. We we saw Ford get a sack this past week where he'd beat left Guard L.. Flying for the Vikings so they they can win individually with some different fronts but they also are really good with stunts out of particular defensive fronts as well. So they're they're both good individually. The scheme was joking earlier. My kids were making fun of me the other day. I have an iphone six. And they're like oh it's so outdated and I said to my kids. What more does it need to do? I've got an alarm clock. Doc I have Greg Cosell's number I can make calls. I can get calls. I don't need it to make bagels and do my clothes right and I watched Jimmy Garoppolo. He's twenty one and five five and it used to be. That was good enough. He's good in the fourth quarter his passer ratings over one hundred in the fourth quarter and overtime. I like the kid. Maybe he's done a good fantasy. Football quarterback join. I were saying earlier. We put our arms around the entire niner organization. And we're everybody is like I don't know if I like Jimmy. G. By is telling me he's kind of it guy in big moments. What does the film say well? It guide big moments. That's always hard to know you know but Ah because then you have to look at the view individual plays but I think Garoppolo is a really strong timing rhythm player and they're not fence that's really built on that it's an offense that works the middle of the field where they predominantly throw the ball between the numbers so every once in a while he doesn't pick up and underneath defender under there are so many throws in the middle of the field so that happens every once in awhile and this past week it happened because a couple of times the linebackers didn't bite fight on the run action as much as the forty niners hoped. So that's something he'll work on. I mean you just made the point. He's only started twenty five games or something along those lines but but he's a really compact thrower I wouldn't say a great arm but he has a good arm within the short intermediate areas and they have a clear view of what they WanNa do offensively and that's what he does and by the way. I like how you point this out. As we watch that Viking defense they ask him to make throws in cluttered areas. They don't they do they. Don't ask him to throw stuff out into the flat. This is not an easy. You gotTa have the right quarterback to make some of these throws well it Scowl Shanahan. It has the best run past fusion in the League. So what happens is is he attacks linebackers. They're they're Kinda puts them in conflict with run and pass responsibilities so you're throwing throwing behind them so sometimes they may not react exactly right and then you're throwing to a linebacker who's sort of in the area and every once in a while he doesn't. There's an account for it to where he should and he'll throw a pick. Yeah all right. Let's go to our big play back to Patrick. MAHOMES who everybody in America loves who I want to make the Super Bowl. Nothing against Tennessee. But I'M NOT GONNA lie. I think the League would love to see Mahomes a lot of fun. And what's your play. Well this was early in the third quarter the Texans played a ton of man coverage and then they come out on the second intent and they're going to show man and play zone. Let's look at the play. I this was a forty eight yard pass to Sammy Watkins and like I said it was a case where they played zone but they tried to show a man look. And that's what you're going to see as we see mahomes in the gun the second and ten in the gun a lot to begin with and you can see the secondary right here. You see that Justin Reed is behind. Lonnie Johnson has has the look of what we call a one Robert Coverage which is a man coverage. And you can see there's Vernon Hargreaves who looks like a slot corner right now over the slot receiver so right now. Wow this clearly looks like man coverage but just as the balls getting ready to be snapped. What Hargreaves rotates back? They spin the coverage to what is cover over two. It's a zone concept you see to split feel safeties feel safety. There's Johnson he's what is now called the middle hold offender and cover too. He opened up to the three receivers side to the strength of the formation Watkins's on the weak side of the formation. And so now as I said it's covered to he's going to run in avoid between the safety and the corner. This is where you make throws against cover to the outside void behind the corner and outside the safety but mahomes just read this instantly and that's what I was talking about earlier. How impressive Mahomes is when he sees things because they had been playing man all game they showed Roadman pre snap? It was disguising late movement and yet he saw instantly. There was no hesitation in where he was going with football boy. That was one of the best ones you've had all year. That's a really really really good piece of video there. Greg Cosell my friend. Great talking to you and we after the season Nj we gotta we gotta meet and talk about some of these quarterbacks in college already started colonies. Alan is already. I know you have thanks man all right good stuff Kyrie irving last night did something. I would not strongly recommend the latest on O.. Will be Jay in the arrest warrant..

"None no no. That's my younger brother. He knows younger brother. Also younger brother coached up at the high school for a little while play. Football there to know was there when Rob Gronkowski was playing being there. But Yeah Jason Obviously played there to listen you know we produce NFL grades. We're going to act. Yeah He. He's he's in the top five rookie of the year candidate. Smile Sanders actually saved. They're running back situation. He and Carson Wentz basically save the season in the last four or five weeks is everybody got hurt it was miles. Sanders Carson Wentz. Eagles were all heart this year. Yeah I want to address this story. So they this is weird. The giants the New York giants were interviewing Jason Garrett for the offensive coordinator position What are you doing Jason? I get the giants wanting him. But what are you doing. Jason Timeout Jon. Gruden took a decade off. His stock doc rises Kaluka. John Gruden's record Jason Garrett record is better than John Gruden's record. What are you doing by the way Mike McCarthy Somehow became a better editor coach sitting on his butt all off season? Why are these coaches so insecure? I think it's part of the coaching. DNA they think the next job they get offered is the last last one will ever be offered. Chip Kelly after Philadelphia went ten and six ten and six. Then he has a bad year. Seventy nine gets fired and rushes into the forty niner job. What are you doing? Sit Back and let people talk about. Wow look at chip. Kelly did go ten and sicked instead. He went into a messy situation in San Francisco then from there he rushes back over where to UCLA. Jason Garrett has a better coaching record right now than Jon. gruden percentage wise in Jon Gruden as the best contract in the league ten million a year. Moving Vegas Vegas with no state tax for a decade like the art of saying no. Don't rush to agree to every contract or every job job offer. Think about this. In one year you can be coaching Matt Ryan in Atlanta with a very good roster a very good gm a very stable owner and Matt Ryan in one year Minnesota and the chargers if they don't win this year bigger chargers rosters loaded. We don't know if Anthony Lynn GonNa make it one more year being average Anthony Lynch probably gone and Mike Zimmer's conservative game planning is going to get him booted if they don't win big next year. Minnesota chargers those are like big boy jobs with NFL pro bowlers everywhere. Jacksonville's GonNa have an opening. I'm not saying it's an elite one but Tampa is going to have an opening. Probably Jacksonville. Awesome Bill's going to have an opening. Bruce Arians probably retires Detroit. Good Avenue opening. What are you guys doing? Jason Garrett's resumes impressive. Fifty six percent of the Games. He's won that's right on Bill parcells as line three playoff appearances three ten plus winning seasons only one losing season. And that was when Tony Romo got hurt and it was a revolving having door at quarterback Dude Netflix and chill. Go home sitting your sixty five hundred square foot mansion in Dallas Coordinator. It's also so a weird fit because Dallas. He always looked like Jerry. Jones adopted son it just as a weird fit to me. I don't like it. I don't think he should be a coordinator cordinator. It's bad branding. I know coaches want to coach but take a year off take a deep breath. Something's going to be open and Jason Garrett is absolutely league GONNA get a second job the longer you're on the beach I mean the ask yourself. Look Cleveland. They were just at the end. Cleveland was interviewing doing anybody. Who'd been a coordinator for even a year? The packers hired a guy who'd been coordinator for a year. There's not a long list of viable coaching candidates candidates in the NFL increasingly. You're you're just. You're just giving them the guy. Freddie Kitchens got a job he'd never been a coordinator the coach of the Dallas Cowboys. He don't get it all right forty years working in NFL films. We bring them on every Thursday throughout the football season also during the combine also during the draft. He's our friend Greg Cosell so I have of I am not I think Joe boroughs good. I don't think he has a special arm and don't the gas. He's an athletic freak. I think he's good. I think. Justin Herbert has maybe Equal arm and a little bigger. I think two is more accurate. Perhaps I don't know you look at Joe Borough. Every people are saying Joe Montana. Tom Brady what do you see. I always struggle to make comparisons to all time greats. And you know you're trying to talk stylistically and I've seen some of burrowing need to watch more There's positive traits. He's certainly poised and composed in the pocket. He's got very light feed. He's got good balance. He's got compact delivery. He's an easy thrower he's not a velocity thrower but he's an easy thrower He I think in the tape I watched and I watched four games already. Texas Florida Auburn Alabama. I'll get to the playoff games shortly shortly but I think that he's pretty consistently accurate. That's really really important And obviously he's got movement ability and he maintains his focus downfield the old and in today's NFL that movement ability is very very important. So I like what I seen You know you've been doing this a long time and you know there's going to start being blowback. Joe Borrow because right. Now he's being talked about as a first ballot hall of Famer and hasn't yet played in the NFL and then when people really start digging down you'll start to hear you know it's going to happen. You'll start to hear. He played on a great team that he played with it. You know integrate offense. He had wide receivers who are going to be high picks. Chase can't come out yet but you know he may be a first round pick next year you'll start to hear the blowback but you know I've liked what I've seen on tape. I think he looks a little bit like Tony. Romo just a little bit not comp time but yes e- The elusive clever little. Yeah he's got a little Tony Romo he'll throw you know he's not afraid to throw interceptions he'll throw the ball up and let us players. Don't make a play. He's not timid. He plays with some courage. I like that. Yeah no question I mean. I think he's an aggressive mindset thrower tentative kid You know he showed the ability in college to be pressure with movement. It'd make a throw make a play He can make plays outside the structure of the offense. You know. I think there's a Lotta traits to like people people start talking about his arm and they'll be different conclusions about that regarding its relative importance that will be in the eye of the beholder. Because he's not a velocity thrower he doesn't have higher level arm strength. So then you have to decide. Is that important important to you or not. Yeah let's move to. I want to talk about last weekend. Churchill you were always saying listen Baltimore's run offense and they're not historically college or pro offenses aren't built to play from two touchdowns back so what went wrong with the player that's GonNa win. MVP Lamar Jackson. What went wrong for him against Tennessee? Well if I told you I probably last week. Maybe the week before their offense is built on Jackson as runner not as he distributor of the football and they got down down fourteen. Nothing and I think that they decided they needed to throw the ball. I don't know if they felt the game was out of hand at that point but they sort of changed their offense they turn their offense into what would be viewed as a more conventional. NFL offense with Jackson. It's a drop back passer. And that's not his game. It may become his game down the road but it certainly not his game now and it's not the way their offense is built so now it's skewed a little bit by what happened at the end of the first half. But he had more than twenty five drawbacks in forty offensive. Plays in the first half. And that's certainly not the way they play football. Yeah by the way Ryan Tannehill numbers are looking Nemec but is there anything about Ryan Tannehill when you watch film at NFL films that you've been like listen. He's doing some impressive things because the stats will tell you. It's all Derrick Henry but I don't think you can beat new. England beat Baltimore. If he's not doing something well certainly they didn't throw it very much. That's the thing you know. Those games played out New England was an team this year because they really did not have a very good offense and because they Tom Brady people just assume they have a great offense but they did not have a very good offense and they were able to beat New England. They only scored two offensive touchdowns and they were able to win. You know this past week. They they ran the ball really effectively. They did hit the shot play. And they'll shot play offense when it comes to the passing game and then when they got in the red zone they were very creative because that's style L. of offense. You're if you're going to run the ball that much you need to end drives with touchdowns not field goals. And they got very creative. They had the jump pass by Henry and they have the speed option action with Tannehill. So that's really good. Play calling because you have to score touchdowns and that's not a profound statement but that offense. They're not likely to hit a lot of a big explosive. Plays although I think tannehill throws the ball really well and I think he's throwing the ball well all year long way. Derrick Henry has been good since high school. It does US feel like they're maybe. This is just the perception. That they're leaning on immortality are okay so they are so the there is a sense that they they made a decision at some point he is is going to become more of a focal point. You saw it on film Kinda started with the first game we can And now they're back playing the chiefs And I think Henry is better in two areas I think. And maybe it's because he's getting more volume feeling more comfortable but he's far more decisive and I think he's been much better in confined space. I always thought he was powerful. When he generated velocity and momentum another words not just powerful in where there's bodies around him now he's powerful with bodies around him? He's your classic runner where it looks like. He just keeps three yards and all of a sudden. It's seconds three. Yeah and that's been critical for them but I think he's improved significantly in those two areas. You know when it comes to Patrick Mahomes I. It's it's all the cliches gunslinger stuff. Have you do you see when you look at Mahomes from previous years. Do you see little improvements. What is the film him I thought he was very good this week in in in in subtle areas. I mean there was a play and it's actually going to be the play we show in a little bit. It was early in the third quarter and it was one of the few times if not the first time in the Game I. I'm not certain that the Texans played zone and he recognized it immediately immediately so I think that he plays with a certain awareness and intelligence. That probably isn't talked about very much. Because he has such high level physical skills now having said that I think there are times he moves too much but I think he can compensate for that with great throwing A. What do you mean moves too much? He flushes out of the pocket to I think I think he moves prematurely. I think there's a looseness and an undisciplined nature to the way he plays at times And it's the reason why not. Everyone loved him coming out of college. It's easy now to look back and say everybody was an idiot but there were there were a lot of people and you probably talk to them as well. That did not necessarily think he was a top ten kind of pick coming out of college judge because he was a very undisciplined and he still has that to to some degree but he's such a great thrower. There are times he compensates for that lack of discipline Quin with great throat. All right let's move Green Bay and San Francisco Green Bay's one of those teams. They've got fourteen wins. There's not a lot. I love about him. Aaron did did make Darren. He made you know they. They don't ask nearly as much this year but he made about four throws what jumped out to you with Aaron this weekend down they were really good on third down and he made some really good throws and they had some really good concepts and I think that'll be critical against the niners because the first time they played the niners when they got beat badly they were off on third down and I think that that was a critical piece of beating Seattle But the other thing I would say is there's going to have to be some volume and some production in their run game. Now that doesn't mean one hundred eighty yards. But they're going to have to run the ball with Aaron Jones and based on tape study and based on cumulative stats the best way to run. The ball against San Francisco is to get them in there nickel so you put three wide receivers on the field. You put Jones Rogers and the Gun Jones offset and you run the ball and they're going to have to have some volume and production in the run game. It'll be interesting because the Niners D. Line is obviously we know we know boatswain buckner and deformed now now clone Alexander. WHO's a terrific rick?.

"The NFC Championship in the AFC championship. As good as it gets gets the strengths the weaknesses. How does Tennessee's running game Hurt Kansas City. Green Bay have the offensive structure to over ver- combat. Awesome Defensive Line for San Francisco. Joy Taylor is joining the joy. How are you today and great? Can't wait this weekend. It's going to be unbelievable. I want to start with You know it was funny. This morning we were we were talking about. mahomes versus Ryan Tannehill and Ryan Tannehill is essentially Andy Dalton with a little better mobility in his career. He's completed sixty. Three percent is passer ratings. Like eighty nine ninety touchdown interception ratios little under two to one and he's five hundred in his career career so the question of course. Who Do you want to see in the super bowl the Kansas city chiefs or Andy Dalton? I think the answer is obvious. It's obvious to Fox. We'd like to see Mahomes in there. We would not lying soda America so the NFL and so would my eyes. Andy Dalton hurts my eyes Ryan Tannehill. Inhale not great for my eyes. Say that as a son of an optometrist. If you really look at what. Kansas City is Kansas City. Is what the NFL wants the the League to look like Leagues and Commissioners will tell you regularly without saying verbally. Here's what I want my league to be e. They'll change rules to help stars to help faster players to help quarterbacks that's why leagues change rules. Why did they put? What's the catch rule back in because your best athletes are wide receivers? Why are you taking away catches for Moby j give him more great catches so the League is telling you we want you to look like Kansas City? We want you to be able to be down. Twenty four nothing and it doesn't matter we want the games to be close. It's why quietly league is sort of. You know putting their arms a little bit around the gambling thing because you'll watch longer longer and the League is now building all of its rules. You can't hit a wide receiver high. Why because that's the best athletes? We want more wide receiver. You can't hit a quarterback lo why because we want the best quarterbacks healthy so you can't hit that position low you can't hit that position high and we don't like hitting either position often. The chiefs are the avengers. Tennessee is an artsy film. That purists like the League wants Kansas City to be the next dynasty or something something that looks like Kansas City clever schemes traditional powerhouse. Kansas City Arrowhead. Great Fans Fastest. Show on turf get get into Monday night. Football game against the rams and people talk about it for months. This is what the League is trying to do by changing its rules. Speed on the outside outside big arm in the pocket likeable relatable kid who can walk into and this is something else that the NFL likes college college concepts coming to the NFL. Why because what the? NFL doesn't like is quarterbacks. Coming from college and half of them are are busts so the NFL is incorporating more college. Football is often as they can. These are y David. Tepper the owner of Carolina's like come mind Baylor football. Go on. They're doing this. So fewer teams have busts. More teams are dynamic in vibrant on offense. This chiefs are what the League wants it to look like it really is now I will say this the NBA would love for everybody to look like the warriors. The problem of course is they had four players. There's maybe three who are the best three point shooters of all time so you get a lot of teams that are trying to be the warriors but instead just it's clank city from three point land but the NFL. It's funny I was all weekend can long. I was e mailing a very very a billionaire an NBA owner. He's very smart person. And I like him and I occasionally occasionally get the opportunity to email and Talk to this person and we were arguing back and forth a little bit about some things about the NBA and the NFL he's obviously an NBA owner and he's very WPRO NBA and I liked the NBA. But I said I think you have some issues. The kids are more into themselves and not the community and the team and the mobility sometimes hurt but we were talking about the NFL and one one of the things. I was thinking about when I got off the email was the. NFL ratings have been going up for most of the last ten years and they've done that with a dynasty that is smart and precise and efficient and mostly boring. I mean I lived in Connecticut so I was into the Patriots and I love Brady Brady. But that's the San Antonio Spurs we draft. Well we're efficient. We have one star. He's never controversial his games not flashy and yet at the. NFL grew canoe. Imagine if Kansas City's the next dynasty I get to watch that that so I was thinking about this is I was talking to the NBA. Owner is for anybody that thinks. Footballs in trouble. We have had sustained growth in football in this country with a rather boring cerebral academic precise efficient dynasty New England. How about this for the next ten years? How about how about tyreek Hill? How about Travis Kelty? How about Andy Reid this weekend this is the warriors by the way away? The warriors imploded the dynasty imploded this year the NBA ratings have tanked. They were the most fun to watch. They were the greatest basketball the ball show in the world. They imploded hurt. Katie leaves. What's happened to the NBA ratings to Kansas City is jet fuel for this league doc? By the way the downside is there's a lot of pressure on Kansas City because when you are the warriors we want titles and is somebody from. Kansas City told this yesterday they better win this weekend. If they lose its crushing it is. The season becomes a failure earlier. Patrick Mahomes is playing thirty. Five million dollars less right now then he will be making in future seasons so you must take advantage of this opportunity last year. They were a coin flip in overtime against the Patriots away from going to and I believe winning the Super Bowl if you don't eat in take advantage of that that if you didn't lose to the titans then that is an enormous missed opportunity. You don't get those years back. Let me shift to this San San Francisco Green Bay and Jimmy Garoppolo. So I was the other day my family was making fun of me. I have an iphone. It's not with me and I don't know what it is an iphone five or something iphone six. I think it's an iphone. Six and the kids in the family. Were Making Fun of Dad. Oh it's so outdated. Aided I'm like it's not a flip phone. It's like an iphone six and I mean it. I mean it doesn't do. This doesn't do that and I'm like I got an alarm clock. I gotTA calendar. I can make calls. I can get on the Internet I can take calls and I can follow like stocks and I can follow people I could get i. Could you get to any social side. I need to like twitter can get to my instagram. I'm like remember the days when that was enough from your phone. You could make a call and take take a call. You could go to twitter. You could follow your stocks your 401k. You had a calendar you had an alarm clock. Remember the good old days when that was enough. I don't needed needed to make a Bagel or wash my clothes dry-cleaned stuff I'm good. I'm fine. Remember the days in football. When if you're a starting quarterback back and in your first twenty six starts you were twenty one and five and got to the Conference Championship? Remember the days when that was enough. That's Jimmy Garoppolo and half of you don't like him. Fantasy football has skewed our perception on what a good quarterback is James. Winston is a good fantasy MRI football quarterback Daniel Jones on many weekends. This year was better than Jimmy. Garoppolo and Fantasy Football Josh Allen. Because he runs is way better. What do you want from Jimmy Garoppolo? Twenty one in five in the conference championship. Call his coach Yes. He's got very good coach. Wait and listen for the great quarterbacks Marino and elway and Brady and Dan fouts who had bad coaches none none of them well. It's his defense. Oh let me wait to get the list of Super Bowl multiple super bowl winning quarterbacks quarterbacks Troy Aikman Terry Bradshaw Tom Brady who had bad defenses. So you're criticizing him because his coaches good defenses good folks remember when twenty one in five as a starter was good enough. What are you want? In the fourth quarter and overtime overtime this year regular season in the playoffs he completes sixty seven percent of his throws his passer ratings. One O two point four. He's got sixteen eighteen and a pick. Sorry if he's the cell phone that doesn't wash your clothes fantasy football has skewed it. We're we're demanding. Demanding and asking people to emotionally helped me win money on the side. I've been watching football for forty years. Here's what I know about Jimmy. Jimmy Garoppolo in the biggest moments. He's really good and he wins a lot. I don't care about his stats. He's never going to be a stat guy. which by the way John Elway once he got Mike Shanahan wasn't a big stat? Data Guy. He just one super bowls Kyle Shanahan like his father's offense is not built. Andy Reid is Don. CORYELL was bill. Walsh maybe this offense in San Francisco is not built to win. MVP awards for quarterbacks. It's a parcells offense. It's a Mike. Shanahan offense offense. It's built to win super bowls. And if you really want to win super bowls you generally can't have a team that demands. Your quarterback throws forty five times times a game or as a life preserver. Sixteen Times a Sunday Kyle. Shanahan Jimmy Garoppolo about three times a Sunday. Make a big boy throw. Here's one of them in the end zone spin it. Here's another late drop it in. He doesn't ask Jimmy. Jimmy D to do at forty two times Lamar Jackson this weekend. Too many plays too many throws stopped the way the position supposed to be played. Brady's always been better with a sufficient. Running Game Jared Goff of the running game gets to a super bowl jared goff without it is third in his division. It is remarkable though it used to just be good enough to be twenty one and five conference championships and be better. When it mattered in the fourth quarter and overtime you want? James Winstons picks this. Daniel Jones Inconsistency Josh Allen Melting Down Against Tennessee. I I love Jimmy G.. I'm I'm all in. He's exactly what I want. And so is my iphone six. Good Heaven you in today. Oh Boy.

Jimmy Johnson to enter Hall of Fame, but not in Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor

"Really truly believe. It's embarrassing for the Dallas Cowboys. That Jimmy is now a pro football hall of Famer and that it actually took this. You know a specific centennial annual class for him to get in and that he's not in the ring of honor that's it's it's a shame it really truly is yeah it is And and you know I don't know we don't know you know the behind the scenes of of all that but it certainly does you know put Put their among you know on the front of the The world stage just to you know. How do you explain this right? Yeah and the guys in the hall all of fame because of what he did in your organization. Yeah he's not what dozens yeah. Yeah no exactly You know so yeah I mean I I you know I agree with you and you know it's also you know kind of you know how like we always talk about things you can't plan you know the the same very same week that Jason Garrett Leave the organization. Mike McCarthy joins the organization and then Jimmy Johnson gets inducted into the pro football hall of fame. I mean you just can't plan that I mean and you know so here is McCarthy now you know he's now he's got you know quite a high standard To you know to shoot after and then you know I I wish him the all the success and hope he surpasses that but you you know. That's pretty high standard now. Yeah I WANNA get your. We've got a criminal out into the end here but to finish the tai-bo on the Jimmy Jerry. Thing it you're right like there could be. I mean because you know there's an infinite amount of possibilities or I guess it's technically fine but I mean there is potentially a reasonable or at least somewhat understandable reason. Why Jimmy Johnson's not during a fire like that possibility does exist? But you said it I mean you. CanNot it really explain this in all this does is really make Jerry. Jones look poorly. I don't think you know I think that you look at it. I don't believe leaving Karma that's not like you know our faith or anything but I do think it's at the very least interesting that you know so you know because people say Jerry's there is only in the hall of fame because he stood on. Jimmy shows whatever but. I think it's funny that you know denied that Jerry was celebrated with cowboys fans at Agency stadium. Liam for going on you know when they give them their hall of fame ring. That night was the night. They lost to the eagles in two thousand seventeen. That's literally the worst loss ever in a ged stadium sister. You know what I mean. That's just a really funny coincidence. And you know you look at Gil Brandt who also took way too long to get him to honor and he just barely got in there before before he got into the hall of fame and at the time the writing was on the wall that he was going into the hall but Gil Brandt went in the night. They beat the saints in two thousand eighteen. You you know what I mean this like incredible night everyone will remember forever or as Jerry went on this one that everyone wants to forget and it just I think those are funny things that automatically you know make paint Jerry in a poor light or whatever he did release a statement And he said were so happy that the hall of fame has recognized. Jimmy Johnson. Awesome for what he is. That's the first sentence and it's just like well. Then how have you not you know. It's a really unsettling thing and I think that like like throwing a boomerang. Yeah it's a really a hypocrite. I don't know what word to use but it it looks really badly on the cowboys organization. That that it actually happened. I mean great for Jimmy Johnson. But you know you know. Somebody tweeted at us on the block on the boys camp. It said that Jerry should inductive an I vehemently disagree superior that the moment should belong to Jimmy and Jimmy alone because he did he has not gotten that do in cowboys fans. He should bathe in it all in his own. If he wants have his players you know like we talked triplets. Think that would be cool but this you know. It's a really really really bad season for Jerry. Jones the owner of the cowboys. And this is kind of the. You know the closing of that circle so to speak. Yeah no I totally agree and and the yeah. Yeah I mean I I think that You Know Jerry Has Been Very very kind of to due to Jimmy in terms of you know whatever success cowboys have had in terms of including hammer recognizing them for that in fact you know may have even gone out of his way to try tried to leave him out of it but You know this it's here is something he cannot ignore it. I mean it It's very vivid. Part of You know with the cowboys success is is due to and And Yeah I think it's Jimmy's opportunity. I'm you know Going there and enjoy the moment with themselves by you know himself on on a standalone basis as a as a dynamic coach that You know did some some pioneering things to change the game and I do believe that firmly

"Dallas Cowboys made it official Jason Garrett no longer their head coach after nine and a half years Steve Lamm said in to talk about it a little bit earlier this morning we knew it was coming but we just didn't know when I thought it would be having this conversation last Monday I know but last Tuesday wasn't the timing interest Wednesday during the eagles playoff game but it wasn't until Jason with the use is key fob it the star in Frisco and you realize something's not right here yeah Marvin Lewis comes to town he was there on Friday Mike McCarthy comes to town in and out yesterday you're sitting in your office you go my for most to on here I think I might want to start cleaning out my desk all right it's official Jerry finally released a statement yesterday didn't hold a press conference but came out and said that he would not be bringing back Jason Garrett for the twenty twenty season it's the world's biggest secret we we all knew he'd say the back at the start of training camp this team had to with all the talent that they had the offense defense that they had to go deep into the playoffs yeah well when you don't even make the playoffs when you finish eight made the writings on the let me say in earlier even even those of us who are amateur NFL fans could see why some of the some of the plays the brand and some of the things they didn't do when the things they did do it times it would just seem like horrible clock management and you know now we've got we've got fourth in long let's let's kick it away they want next time you get same situation you go for it is like what what what's going on down in and that's when if you're a Die Hard fan you've gone we were so much better on paper and then this other team yeah but they were so inconsistent this up and down up and down up and down but that's been Jason Garrett through his career in nine full seasons as the head coach she came in the one season halfway through and replace Wade Phillips who he was hired before wells of Phillips was even hard to replace bill Parcells now the question becomes what do they do going forward well as we said they've they've talked to Louis they've talked to McCarthy but to listen to Steve young hall of Famer on ESPN he says it may not make a difference on who you get unless you let them have some power more so than ever the athletes in the locker rooms the NFL today the man transparency and authenticity and whoever's comes the locker that coach has to speak with authority it has to happen or you will not be great the proven by the cowboys not having that a story with a Jason Garrett speaks they think well what is chairman.

C. Garrett a long chance in Dallas to get to a Superbowl win a championship this isn't a two year thing a three year thing chasing Garrett has been a head coach in the NFL for a long long time and the results just haven't been there and when I hear Jones tells you mid season that I feel like I put together a team that was talented enough to compete for championship and that team ends up missing the playoffs I'm sorry I mean so the Bucks gonna stop with Jason Garrett didn't get the job done Jason Garrett had a decade to prove his coaching worth in the NFL you said a decade to prove his competency on the sidelines of the Dallas Cowboys one year having to deal with an up and coming offense of coordinator who created the number one offense in the league was not the anchor that sunk the Jason Garrett ship Jason Garrett's incompetence on strategy adjustments throughout the season and throughout a game is what sunk the ship Jason Garrett's inability to take one of the most talented rosters in the league and turn it into a Superbowl contender for going on a decade is what song the Jason Garrett ship respect has been made respect has been paid the dues are now ready to be paid I do think it has to be more or less a home run for Jerry this time this is a one of those times you can go higher a coordinator that people kind of light from somewhere they want to see what he does that he's done that enough times are that's usually not work the best for him and I think even appointees also seventy seven years old I think he feels like the you know the core of a good team is here a culture does not a wind can win and that that's how I think you get into the discussion of the top college coaches are ordered buyers you know figuring into the neck and neck straight talk wireless everything for less only add Walmart more NFL ahead as we take a look at our game bills in Texas getting wild card we get under way in Anthony Davis and Kay and crushes his former team more NBA with sports and all night bounces back the new ESPN app now with ESPN plus baseball hockey soccer college football you want more so because with plus you get new film shows docks download now incentive for ESPN plus today it's time for some straight talk you know those football players were all.

Cowboys to move on without Jason Garrett

"Jason Garrett's time up as coach of the Dallas Cowboys Edward a reporting Jerry Stephen Jones have decided coach will not be part of the organization moving forward on Friday and paid Simmons on why this process lasted so long after the season to other Jerry and Stephen Jones have moved slowly out of respect for Jason Garrett you know they have a long history with him as a backup quarterback you to this is that coach a head coach's father was in the organization when Jerry bapa team as a scout and they finally concluded that phase of this process and that's going to end with Jason Garrett not being a part of the organization beyond his expiring contract and when exactly they make that announcement I thought sure what I've been told soon and that the next phase will have them moving into the process of interviewing candidates in the battle begin quickly after phase one is totally finished off yes was contract set to expire January fourteenth status with the team at issue since last February the cowboys didn't give a contract extension they missed the playoffs in twenty nineteen finish eight neighbor the four time in his tenure as coach Keyshawn Johnson on the job candidates and Jerry Jones himself he was on sports and we stand ready to make a decision on it there was the eight their long term in the obvious would clearly felt that their work you say while they waited till Thursday well the food that just won't really it just is so you kind of say okay take a deep breath we get back to the facilities we talk about a little bit we think about we pondered overnight we need or Thursday we meet on Tuesday we meet on Wednesday we have a conversation and we finally so you know women the best thing for us to do if not give the public what they looking for what they looking for me to do is be extremely mad and walk out of there on Sunday night if fire you on the tarmac so instead of doing that this call wait a couple days are you playing for the cowboys you're familiar with Jerry Jones and and and his thinking all what happens next now in this search for the next cowboys head coach I think a guy like Mike Zimmer Minnesota Vikings head coach could potentially be a candidate you say how could that be well I I II coach there in the deepest corner along try defensive coordinator for Jerry Jones is the bill Parcells fact either stay here they know what they're getting in that particular coach but also there's a young officer coordinator in cabin step band he this sitting there in Minnesota the Minnesota Vikings don't want to part ways with him they don't want him all of a sudden start to get interviews and become a category another team so I would be surprised if somehow might dimmer wind up being the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in the cabinet she takes over as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings so a lot of story lines this call come about here over the next with date but I think this time around you will get the head coaching job right where the coach may be season one more before we go do you think that at this point Jerry Jones is ready to surrender more control to a head coach now then he has been willing to in the past as bill Parcells left and and I want to turn this on your stamina I am right now status is not a defense Jerry Jones was some what he is and even as well as we clay as well as Jerry junior what is your you Jones gone wrong with that organization other than the head coaching hire that's a very good question that's very good everybody everybody everybody said here you're you're here the one on that team thank you for calling the latter team for the National Football League I would I would argue and say that their top five channels it is four tally dole is a National Football League the problem is that head coach because you're you're not holding the plate yeah well that gives the player is a free pass for having innate need season the talent on the field didn't win enough games he and Garrett will finish as the second longest tenured and second most winningest coach in team history Tom Landry a record of eighty five and sixty seven the wonders to playoff games unable to get past the divisional round Mike wells Myron Medcalf on Freddie Fitzsimmons the Dallas Cowboys there you know they draw attention but the the the days of being America's team and wanted to be part of what is age and it's not the same anymore it is not the same strictly because of what you have to deal with away from just coaching of football team is not simply you know put together a strong staff the coaster brakes of Amari Cooper Ezekiel Elliott and dak Prescott it's also having the answer constant questions from your boss the owner Jerry Jones deck could become a headache when you're you can't simply just focus on the task of putting your team in the proper position the try to have success there's a side show that comes with it and some people are built or not built to be able to deal with that so you got to find the right coach who is not only a great Exynos guy but somebody who's mentally strong enough to handle the constant you know looking over the shoulders and the pestering of your boss meddling in the inside of things wonder why things are not going well or to give us suggestions on what you should be doing that's not something easy that everybody can handle that type of situation well it and not everybody wants it and that's why I think a lot of these cultures your Matt rules related rallies urban Meyer's why except that to me if you're not going to modernize the structure of your organization so that your owner can do what every other owner does and take a backseat and not be this forward facing figure who's hosting its own press conferences after the game sometimes undermining the head coach then then how can you expect to attract a great candidate bomb out rule no one eight I'm leaving Baylor I got a chance to build something there if I'm leak in Raleigh I'm in Oklahoma and every year I get a chance to go to the college football playoff leave in Oklahoma where I can coach for another decade at least about continue to succeed ever murmur Meyer I'm not leaving LA or on the TV analyst making good money watching a lot of football injuries bouncing around the country see a lot of teams to go to Dallas where I've got a deal with Jerry that's why I think it's going to be difficult if Jerry Jones wants to continue to be Jerry Jones I don't think Mike he's going to end up with any of the top candidates identifying potential replacements Bobby carpenter and fox college football reporter Bruce Feldman gas on Freddie impede Simmons Stephen Jones Jerry Jones offered that coaching job urban Meyer she would say I think that's a hard job to say no urban probably wouldn't be needing to be for another year is that all you but who knows enough the big job at the glamorous job and remember the nose you know damn owns his courage and damn ongoing expound acted it all back thank god yeah I was supposed to do the oil itself journal part of mine and to buy that it was offered so you're going to want to meet your need to guide it was a proven track record we've done it before who's been in the playoffs the only guy that I look at the newest hires cycle that's really available is Mike McCarthy and it's free thank god I'm not that I'm not the biggest Mike McCarthy stand the world but he's the only guy that it holds no one Barty and that is the only thing that Jerry Jones once he is getting older is that you know you if you spend more time on this earth that he's going to spend has the last was starving if you get that oracle Marty troche with them of the order would love to put it in there Mike you've done that you chose to leave and you've been in the playoffs he's done a good job that would be my selection I don't know if they don't know what it does do checks all

Why Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett might be in a 'chess match'

"First we do have to talk about skips cowboys ahead of Jason Garrett's meeting with the Jones Family Garrett admitted he didn't know what the future sure hell but said quote. We'll have a good visit and see what's next. After the meeting. There was still no news on Gertz Future. Jerry Jones was clear that he had no timetable. Timetable on a decision following the cowboys. Blowout win over Washington on Sunday. Jerry said quote. There's no door shut here tonight. Both sides rides are scheduled to meet again today. Interesting there Shannon. Please explain what is going on. Your skip is really hard cut ties with someone you care about I agree we've all been here. Skip you've been in a relationship and you've got to self talk w light you know what I'm GonNa end it. I just know it's not the right thing to do. We're going into directions. She wants different thing. He wants different things. You got this all plan that genie get home. I'm going to say you know what Babe I just think it's time for us is to go out separate ways you must have a negative. It's all bad break. Yeah you get there you like. Hey how you doing see. You had a great day at work because you care now you don't care about get out kit rocks however what if you don't call call be lose my number Yada Yada Yada. Jerry can't do this because he allowed himself to get close to this situation and remember. This is one reason why the military do not let higher ups have relationships with subordinates. Because it cloud your judgment. It makes it so hard for you to do things that you know you should do. Jerry knows what he should you do because we've gotten so close. It's hard for me to believe I believe that over the course of this nine year relationship as an owner coach. Jason has gone on vacation with Jerry. Very believe he's gone to Jerry's home and had nice meals or a celebration. I agree with Jerry is so skip it makes it so much harder because deep down. Here's what you look here. We've been together nine years. I've got four eight hundred. Five hundred seasons Made the playoffs three times. I missed the other times so I know what I should do down and I liked Jason. He's like a son term it years and you he gave Sam we have lived together and they have give because like you said he was. Troy's backup you WanNa Championship together. He was his offense as a coordinator and he promoted him to head coach. There's a lot of history there. But and plus you said Jay read would it pro football say their own looking at team they got some bad breaks here. J. Like you know what we did. Get a couple of bad breaking Jason's really not that bad 'cause you see how you look. We look to Washington skill. Look how we look. The first time around gets phillies killed so he look at what we did to. The Rams team had a winning record and we destroyed him. No He's he's looking at it but because he jerry has the range of emotions if he's ready to fire. I was surprised that Jay was allowed to get back on the plane. At the New England. Game Ain't and then he comes out and then Chicago game. They lose on a Thursday night skipping puts his arm around him a that's when he came up with we had a football life together almost seemed like I can't let this guy go skip. Look he's Jerry is looking deep down. Maybe if I just give him a two year deal say Jay somebody you to turn this thing around. I'm getting some new coaches Yada. Yada Yada and this thing will be different. He knows what he should do. But because his heart is so connected to Jason Jason it makes it almost impossible for him to do it because he also knows nine years. I've groomed Jason. He's GonNa take everything they all in the paper Apor Agua I can beat him up. beat him down and he's going to take it in stride and just go say hey we gotta keep our head that remember we keep our heads down and we keep working keep grinding and jared all know somebody that's GonNa be. They say that I don't know if they're going to be able to take it. So that's what's going on. Skip he's too close to the situation. He allowed himself to get too close to Jason Get In his tearing at his heart that he knows he needs to let Jason go but he can't right now for once. I unfortunately agreed with every word you just utter and I must say publicly. My worst football nightmare is taking place right before my very eyes and I can't do anything to stop it. In fact the more I sit over here and pound his desk Jerry wakeup jakup finally and fire this man. He's a nice guy. We all agree. He's not the right guide to coach The Dallas Cowboys going forward. You Know Jerry and I know at Gerry. Shannon Sharpe deep down. I believe he knows it though. He won't admit it out and yet the more I beat this table. Trust me on this because I know Jerry Jones. The more I found the more he's going to dig in because he he has lived his life his oil and gas life. Doing just the opposite of what everybody totally should do. Jerry you're done you're tapped out. You gotTA quit. You gotta go

"You know. He's playing sparingly during the game. So I'll give you. They go top story the morning. Dallas cowboys who lost to the Eagles yesterday now need to be Washington and then hope the Philadelphia loses to the giants next week in in order to get into the playoffs. As for yesterday's Game Dak Prescott struggled completing just fifty seven percent of his passes. Keep in mind. He'd been dealing with an injured shoulder all week regardless artless cowboys can't pull it out a lot of that falls on head coach Jason Garrett Gordon get the job done but we have to control in control and that's our preparation leading up to the Game Jim next week against Washington. Nick is there anything at this point that Jason Garrett can do to save his job no and even if they win and they know this. This is the I refused last week to engage in the fantasy that Dallas was all of a sudden going to go on some magical run that after being one team through thirteen weeks because they played a good game in the fourteenth game that that was going to be their Fifteenth Game Sixteenth game and on some no. And I'M GONNA go. Listen there's a fair amount of stuff on this show that I predict or I say and it turns out I'm wrong about this is not one of them. I said after the Patriot game you you fire that head coach and the answer was no. You can't short week and then when they get crushed by buffalo on Thanksgiving at home I said. Now it's on a short week anymore. You fire the head coach. No no no. We can't and then they get crushed by the bears and now you have a long week and I said you fire the head coach and I'm just curious. If at any point they had done that would they be in a worse position than they are now. Of course not because this team was three and they've lost eight of twelve they were five and three at the midway point. What are they now? They're seven and nine. We can do that math. They're seven and eight. Pardon me we seven and nine is maybe a little bit of a projection. I there is to me. No argument to be had that Jason Garrett should retain this job and in my eyes there there is no possibility that they make the Super Bowl which is at this point the only way he could retain his job. I think obviously it would take a football miracle article they get in they be Washington. The Eagles lose which. I'm not convinced the eagles will win that game. I'm GONNA be honest now. I'm not going to go all the way away with the miracle and say they get in the playoffs then they win two games and get to the conference championship. which might be enough in Jerry? Jones is is to save. It wouldn't be enough in my eyes in my eyes. He will have to get to the Super Bowl to save his job. Okay but Jerry's is maybe if they get to the conference championship but I think the play offs is possible. Just because I'm not convinced that Philadelphia's et Philidelphia was riding you know. Obviously you're hyped up for that game yesterday. In addition the audit was at stake. It is a rivalry and they hadn't beaten gallison awhile especially without Zeke and that plan so they go into their their on emotional national how they get the win. I wouldn't be shocked to see a letdown especially with the giants. You know coming off a big win and maybe thinking Daniel Jones is special but if they even if they get in. That's not enough look. I think they've had plenty of opportunities to fire him before and nobody could have said anything his first three years they were eight and eight. You mentioned Tony Romo earlier. Tony Romo played all but one of those games in his first three years and they ate. He's been there nine full seasons now three winning records three times if they don't make these playoffs three times out of nine year in the playoffs. And you're retaining your job. No and losing enormous remiss games at the end of the regular season has happened more often than not twenty eleven. Two Thousand Twelve two thousand thirteen. You lose them week. Seventeen weeks seventeen. The miss the playoffs two years ago. The first game after Zeke suspension. Remember that when they have an opportunity after winning the last. Three Games Zeke suspension to get into the playoff picture. Sure you lose a critical game to Seattle and this year in week. Sixteen you lose this game to Philadelphia and I wanted to go back quickly to that. Final offensive play. Its fourth and eight. Amari Cooper says. He's not winded in the post game. Commentary they just have the regular rotation of guys. I know Jason Garrett is not your defacto play colour anymore. That's more the head coach of that football team in that spot with your season on the line if he sees on the field is Jason Witten Blake Lake Charleston. TAPAN awesome Michael Gallup. You got three timeouts. You don't need them if you don't get the first down anyway. The game's over. You make sure sure your best players are on the field. You make your Randall. COBB and Amari Cooper on the field in a spotlight that and they didn't do if honestly felt like they benched Cooper Hooper because there were several times in critical situations that he wasn't on the field even before now. So Cooper as bad as it was to your point that didn't surprise me as as much as cop carbon just had to be kitsch and he. He's obviously a good possession receiver. The fact that he wasn't on the field either is just ridiculous all that plus the fact that Ezekiel Elliott was limited. After what he did last week after the money you paid him coming into the season after the fact that you were going to essentially be a running team because he's your best player even though Kellen Moore had three great opening weeks with Dak Prescott. It just seems like this all falls on the head coach. At some point probably retard we have been debating.

"Listen to the cowboys started the season with high expectations. That is a true statement but now it's a season that has devolved into a race to win the worst division in football. Here we go. That's where we start. Cowboys said at six and six after a disappointing home loss to the bills on Thanksgiving Day and has Dallas prepares to face the bears Thursday night. Jerry Jones continues to answer questions about the future of his head coach Jason Garrett look where we are with our skill set eh look it up toward they are with Ayers and there's nothing to my mind that jumps out of me that we can't be playing well enough to take it to the house Think about there's no exclusive but he's got exclusive skills to get the job so the collectively so you could but they're qualified people WANNA opinion. It'd be coaching Jerry. Jones has been supportive of Jason Garrett. I think it's fair to say that however was an interesting statement with friends like Jerry. Look Coach Ryan. We'll start with eat right in your ear. Yeah I think we should. I think that's a fair assessment. Oh ooh boy. I had my friend Jerry. Jones is not stupid. No right at all. You don't get to the point. He is in life. You don't get be this rich if you're a stupid man man. He's rich enough to not really care like Jerry. Jones knows how the things that he says will be taken. He knows that people on the outside not we'll be listening also people within his organization he understands what a statement like. JC Garrett will be coaching in this league next year. We'll we'll make everybody do. We'll make the people in the building where where where we'll be coaching Jerry coaching. Well he'd be a quarterbacks coach. Well He'd be office coordinator. What you won't see is he will be the coach of the Dallas Cowboys? And that's what matters if you're talking about Jason Garrett and being anywhere which he has done for year in in year out where we wanted him to fire Jason Garrett for being mediocre. He said he's my guy he's my coach. He will be here. I have faith in him. That soon has totally totally changed to love the way. Mike Zimmer coaches football. I don't expect to ever out coach Bill Belichick and if I can't I can't coach Bill Belichick. I expect out coach Adam Gates and not lose to him Jerry. Jones is ready to get rid of dude. Well there's no doubt that the rhetoric and the tone has changed. Now it's interesting. The Point Ryan Makes Jerry Jones. Smart knows what he's saying. You know that was true with physio Elliott as well when he made that Zeke who you know and he said I was kidding. He was kidding but he you know every every job has a morsel of truth he does know what he's saying and he understands stands out it will be portrayed and in this case I think you're right. The unwavering support for Jason Garrett has come to an end actions. Speak Louder than words. So I mean he's given us a lot of words but really the actions he hasn't. He doesn't have a contract going forward next year so he might coach but Jerry say is not going to be here but he thinks appeals kills conflict. It'd be somewhere else to me. You know he the writings on the wall when when the organization says that we have everything you need and you have to want to super bowl or bus. That's all I mean. There's not much talk about. I mean really. It's been laid out there pretty clean and and Jerry feels he's assembled he is the general manager and the owner. He feels he's like these assembled a championship team. And they're not playing like a champion right now. Does that remind you when you go through a break up and the person says you. I don't want to be with you anymore. But the next person is so oh lucky to have you it. Has that same sort of tone like you know. He'll be coaching in the league. Readers don't really probably want him here in Dallas because he has really been inconsistently early on in the season with backing him saying even as Soon as two weeks ago he was saying better things about Jason Garrett and it just seems every time they win he loves them and soon as they start losing or put together a a you know a poor performance immediately changes the tune in he. He likes to keep them on notice. But I think I don't want to speak for you but I think we can all agree that probably the end of the season if they don't make the playoffs this is probably. I'm not even sure I'm not even sure. I think it takes more than a million. It's always going deep is I believe it's always been that for Jason Garrett in this season and this is why he didn't and have a contract going forward but also understand that a huge reason that Jason Garrett is there is because he can deal with this part of coaching for Jerry Jones. And I don't think I you know I think. That's worth sort of underlining not everybody can and coach you but a coach in this league for several teams. It is a different animal when you coach for Jerry Jerry Jones and you have to take the total package. Not Everybody can do that or not and I get. You can't be there have the understand I I'll be honest if I'm there. I would have to have an understanding because it could not go the way it goes right now. Right and Jason Garrett has been able to handle that part I think into function within those stipulations. And so but you know I think I think this this relationship is coming to a close look the head coach. Come the end of the season though in this job is open. Let's let's just say you think there's going to be guys. Turn that Opportunity Down Because of Jerry Jones. I know I don't I don't believe so. But I also understand that. His more successful coaches who have had different personalities also haven't lasted as long as Jason Garrett has been more successful bay one super bowls but also all those people have left a lot earlier. Jerry needs a strong presence like a Jimmy. John's their push back. He needs strong presence for his head coach but he he is not going to have one if he mandates that things go certain way. And that's just a reality. So what he needs. The most he probably repels away. Greatest strength greatest weakness right. We see it so

Will Jason Garrett be fired by Cowboys?

"But the cowboys are these weird position where how many times honestly the head coach a lame duck you hear it the year before they're going to be the final year of the contract and usually there's some sort of extension work out there was no extension worked out before the year end names that you will hear interviewed for jobs all over the other phone vacancies reside in the cowboys Steph and they played a division that nothing is over yet because the Philadelphia Eagles have struggled you check all those boxes off and the cowboys could be put with a more obvious situation then Hey we should be firing G. together for this last month you very clearly have no interest in bringing it back unless he wins the Superbowl you very clearly see that you were dead as a door nail momentum wise when Michael Bennett is the guy that needs the pick the team up there and he's only been there for an hour and a half thank you very clearly have guys within your staff that other teams are gonna dean guys that they want to interview why does he have a job with four games left at six and six when you were supposed to have this number one seed type you're the NFC

"Would we be having a different conversation or some of the hesitation on whether you move Jason Garrett midseason because there isn't a viable guy it's going to step in and perhaps be will they do have Rod Marinelli. There's been an NFL head coach. Even though he was an unsuccessful. NFL head coach. I think it is less about who the interim would be and more about playing your final domino four this season. You don't want this season to be a total. Oh failure it is in even. If no coach in January the point yesterday they won three out of five division titles. That doesn't matter to me much at all all because this year's team the winning them in the past might matter but for this season scraping into the playoffs at nine and seven because Philadelphia's so uh-huh disappointing is a massive under achievement. Like all nine win. Seasons are not created equal buffalo. You mentioned already had a successful season like today. The Buffalo is. They've only made the playoffs. Once since the music city miracle they can get to nine or ten wins with this roster that is a hell of a year for their for the cowboys choice. Win is playing better than I ever thought he could. When you had the momentum from the end of last season said Oh wants a Mari got here look how good we are to be a team that does not have a single quality win on their resume that to me is a massive underachievement and if coaching matters matters in this league what what else can we blame? It'll like the defense has not been top five. But it's been good. Zeke has not been top three. But he's been good Zach Zach. Jack Dee is playing the best football of his career. So who else is left. And you can't blame it on Jerry and Steven Jones. They have acquired quality elite talent and they paid. Maybe overpaid to keep some of that talent for this season you said. It's about the expectation all the money he spent. offseason Ezekiel Elliott Lal L. Collins in Jalen Smith and Jerry Jones came into this expecting to compete for maybe win a super bowl that was expectation to US housemaid. And look they were Shard. He is viewed as a future head coach. The interesting thing would be if you bring it Chris Rashard now if he does just a fabulous job I mean. Maybe he's your guy but also think they got is on Lincoln Riley and other and whatever gets them to the conference championship are are you kind of in a in a tough situation. Where do you keep him or do you go out? And get the Lincoln Riley or somewhere like listen. The name that I'm going to throw out there is Greg Roman. I I think what you see. I wouldn't Dacca's not Lamar by any stretch but Dak isn't effective runner. An particularly effective red zone runner and that is something. They have not been able to unlock the way they should be able to. I think you could use a little bit of what Greg Roman has done with Lamar. Not as much and make the team and help Dak take a further step next season. But just there's four coaches in football who have a current coaches who have coached at least fifty games. I never been to a conference championship. Pinch Game Adam Gates. He's already been fired. Wants his probably on his way out of another place. Pat Shurmur already been fired. Wants probably on his way out of the second. Another place. The only two coaches on that that list to never be fired coach at least Fifty Games is bill. O'Brien with ninety one wins. Maybe the worst coach in football and Jason Garrett with one hundred forty forty seven games in ninety one games for bill. Brian not went hundred and forty seven games coach. Only four of coach Steven Fifty without making it to a conference championship pitcher game. He's had his opportunity no doubt they have been more than patient with him. He can't complain at all if they shot. No shot back here first things first there. We are. Make sure you get your Thanksgiving started with us. Tomorrow we're going to be Johnson. Great show joined by special guest. Jay Glazer CURME AFI he. Jimmy Johnson will all be nick and I'll probably stop by at some point..

"Come in you know a day like today yes to this team yes Sir and you need to win this to establish what you're about four seasons new dentures pretty narrow want to come out of your smile right in that window is even more narrow with Jason Garrett is your head coach again with all that talent enormous say they've got more town one to fifty three then the patriots day still not beat a winning team this year they haven't beat anybody the winning record so me say this Jason Garrett is not the worst coach ever I'm not saying that although a lot of people are he's not he's not the worst coach ever we're not talking Richie co tight here I'm sure it's easy for anybody be fine to pile on this guy but he's not even necessarily terrible he is not that good and they can do better and he is the biggest reason they're underachieving yet again the problem is he'll never be what you need him to be meaning they'll never get to where they need to go but the clapper is just good enough not to get fired every single year he does just that one thing he needs to roll it over one more year in the meantime they're never beating anybody that they're not supposed to be and part of the reason for that is the clapper will always settle like you did on fourth in seven from the past eleven down seven late in the game when he thought he'd take that chip shot give me three the staff is back to Jones the place where the late lifted a the uprights is good for the cowboys on the border of another vehicle with aspen the extent of the Dallas offense three field goals in a thirteen nine New England late in the fourth well that was brass clapper did anybody anywhere really think back I was gonna go for their course is gonna make it a four point game which is over six minutes left my man's an IV leaguer yo he's gonna do that one hundred times out of one hundred he will always do that see the clapper does not care about your analytics or your numbers he's gonna take a field goal and he's going to just hold against all hope that the offense was suddenly catch fire at some point even though it had for the previous fifty four minutes as I said before that game yesterday on the NFL on CBS that was not about dak V. "I am Mike woven sitting in for rich Eisen guys partners here with me. But he's going to sit this out. Why sit and have a conversation with the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and that is coach Jason Garrett. Coach how are you doing? I'm doing great, Michael. How are you coach? I I'm doing great coach from sitting in for the great rich Eisen. I told him this is right up there with the top of the things that I've ever accomplished in life because Richard such a great do in that pre state. You're taking the time to give us a moment. Coach. Fill is in the legend is in my eyes. It is alleged coat coaches talked to me about all this going on. Now, how do you feel about the drafting and the guys that you got in the draft. I know you got he was smart enough to go and get to fifth round out into you talk to me about all those guys we feel great about the group. You know, we haven't had a chance to see him yet. But you know, you go through so much valuation of these players, you know, leading up to the draft and our scouts have been on these guys for over a year. And then we as coaches once the season is over we we start diving into it as well. And you have so many discussions, and so many meetings, and he talked about what you want the team to be all about. And then you talk about the kind of players you wanted each position to make the team be what you want it to be the identity of that team all of those things. And so it's a very thoughtful process that we go through a lot of different decisions that you make along the way and then you're on the clock. And ultimately, you know, you. Pick certain guys to add to your team. And you know, we feel great about you know, those three days we weren't reactive in day one. But you know, day to day three we feel like we got a lot of good players. And you know, it'd be fun to get them in here this weekend. You know, we do our our many camp two weeks after the draft kinda let the whole thing. Breathe a little bit. And then once we get our players in here, we get a chance to to have him for the rest of the all season. So well, I get a chance to be around him on Thursday night. We'll spend three days with them this weekend and then integrate them into the into the off season program. You always started with tristen hill, you know, defensive lineman from central Florida, who, you know, we think a lot of the traits that we want in that three technique that under tackle he's big. But more than that, he's quick he's explosives powerful and very disruptive and he's really young player. And we feel like we we put them in a really good environment with with Rodman Elian Leon Lett coaching them every day and guys like DeMarcus Lawrence and Tyrone. Crawford showroom the way to do it each. And every day, we just feel like he can grow into something that we really like, and you know, Connor McGovern with someone we took in the third round. And really it was just the quintessential blinking light. You know, we looked up at our draft board, and he was graded by far the highest on the board. And we just said hell, let's take the best football player here. So good about those guys, you know in day to and then got a number of players in day. Three. Like you said a couple of university of Miami. Guys, wanna make sure we continue that tradition. So many great players in the organization came for Miami. And there's something about those Miami guys. I'm not just telling you this. But there's a competitive spirit to them their love football. So we wanna keep injecting that into our team so excited about those guys and the rest of the crew we got on day three coaching listening coach Jason Garrett of the Dallas Cowboys you on the rich Eisen show on my over sitting in for rich Eisen coach. When you when you when you talk about how how draft is gone and. And and it kind of reminds me of the days when when we were there when you would just seemed like everybody was drafting was really for the backup positions we drafted..

"Jason Garrett fans are doing all over the place. It's like you got to have a change. We need somebody that can better maximize the players we need somebody that can do more. No, you don't. No you. Don't Cowboys fans will Cain. You've all lost perspective. You've all lost an honest ability to look at the relationship your team and your coach has to understand. How stinking good it is. And it's funny because I feel like a couples therapist is needed here. But for once it's not a couples therapist between Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett. No ownership in coach CI. It's between fans and Jason Garrett, and the hardest part of it is y'all just need to get used to it. Because guess what he's going to get an extension. He's going to get a lot of money and Jerry Jones is gonna sit down and watch the ride. So if you're going to be a fan at least find a way to enjoy it. And I think part of why everybody's sort of lost their minds on this is because you're just anxious for change. It's easy to talk about. And I heard people earlier today talking about the eight eight seasons. Eight eight seasons. Yeah. You're right. You're right. Jason Garrett had three straight eight eight seasons between two thousand eleven in two thousand thirteen eighth street the three straight times since then on. No, he's got a twelve and four thirteen three ten in six only one losing season in that process. Like you have to sit there at some point and draw a line in the sand. "Sounds like something you buy Dairy Queen. It's an Arctic blast edge New England. It changes the way I see this game. So. Outside of a handful of teams in college. And pro everybody's always looking to fire their coach because psychologically as a fan. It's easy to fire. A coach. Fans wanna believe they're just a coach away from winning it. All you can't fire players, right? Do you ever notice that fans will be overly loyal to average players? But really tough on excellent coaches because psychologically, you can talk yourself into if we just get rid of Mike Tomlin will win all our games. You know, if it's not for Bill O'Brien, we'd be way better than the colts. Historically can't fire JJ watt today being glowering multiple players. So fans always want the coach out much in the coach is often very good more than like average players troubled players, you'll be loyal to him. So Jerry Jones was talking about his coach Jason Garrett who's the most criticized successful coach in the NFL. And here's what Jerry Jones said Jason had been out on the market two weeks ago. He would have had five offer for head coaching. I know that so you got to look at what your alternate. Atv is I believe there's thirty two teams in the NFL. And I think twenty five percent of them have an elite coach eight there are eight coaches to me that feel better. Bella check, Andy Reid. Sean Payton, Sean, McVeigh, I think what Matt Nagy did in Chicago this year with limited offensive, personnel and Trubisky was remarkable Pete Carroll Doug Peterson and John Harbaugh. John Harbaugh lost a quarterback to the rookie quarterback. Who's not really good at throwing the football and they won their division. That is great coaching and he'd previously got into a Super Bowl. I think there are eight coaches that fan base is mostly. No, they're pretty good. After that, you do realize that Jason Garrett falls in the class of the other guys who we all like way more than we love. Mike Tomlin gets heating Pittsburgh. But you like Bill O'Brien in Houston. Dan, Quinn's been to a Super Bowl Atlanta. Ron Rivera and Carolina Jason Garrett. Mike Zimmer in Minnesota. They're clearly competent all of them. Do you know Bill O'Brien has won three division titles one year with Tom savage and Brock Osweiler. That's impressive. Mike Tomlin has been to to Super Bowls and won one Jason Garrett. He's been in Dallas forever said one losing season. What about Dan Quinn? Ron rivera. They got to a Super Bowl. My point is a quarter of this league or eight coaches most fan bases. Get on every Sunday. You've got the better coach Jason Garrett simply falls into a group of a bunch of guys who wanna resume I can certainly promote market and defend, but we mostly like them more than we love him. And he falls into that Bill O'Brien. Mike Tomlin, Ron Rivera. Dan quinn. Jason clearly competent, nobody better currently in the market have won multiple division titles. Rarely is the team not playing hard or man overboard. We can run Jason Garrett other town, and I do not consider him in the elite eight club look around the league at who is getting hired. Before you blast on Mike Tomlin and Ron Rivera in Dan Quinn, and Jason Garrett and Bill O'Brien and your Mike Zimmer's look at who the Packers hired look into Zona hired look around Lee look at who Cleveland hired take a deep breath. Matt Moseley covers the Cowboys talked about Garrett yesterday and how many feel in Dallas? I think something has to change. I think Jerry knows that this Jason Garrett thing he he was ready to fire him. I mean three and five he was getting ready in Saint not during the season. But he was ready, and he was lining up, and who knows Lincoln Riley, Matt rule, the great Baylor. Coach who knows who he was talking to. But he always has a note card of about three or four coaches ready. Jerry keeps that he's I never use. It doesn't seem like used to use. It a lot. The point is though Jerry younger Jerry was much more willing to ride guys out of town. Jerry overtime realize in less. You've got a great replacement. Having a solid good be plus head coach beats the alternative coming up next. Antonio Brown wants to be a San Francisco forty Niner. The San Francisco forty Niners could use as much as any other need an over the top wide receiver. My thoughts on.
