"Victory with just about everything went right for the hawks tonight. It was a fun one. Do you see? Yeah, I'd like to see a whole bunch more of these as you know, we got 19 games left in the regular season now, Kevin, I'd love to see 19 more of what we saw here tonight. That'd be fun. It was a fun one. That's the great John. Why do men John well hear you Wednesday night when the Blackhawks begin a road trip at Detroit? Thanks, John. Kevin, remember I'm just the average John whiteman, the great John Weidman was my dad. Okay. Fair enough. Thanks, Kevin. Great job tonight. Thanks, John. I'll talk to you soon. The Blackhawks beating the Ottawa senators 5 zero here at the united center hawks ending a four game skid. It ends the senator's 5 game winning streak, Ottawa 12 three and one over the last 16 coming into this game. It looked like a real opportunity for Ottawa to continue to push up the standings in the playoffs. There are a few points out of that final spot in the Eastern Conference and the Blackhawks were ready for them. And I thought in the first period maybe Ottawa outplayed the hawks, but it was kind of a Gritty, a tough period by the hawks in the first period to hang in there when Ottawa had some chances. And then just knocked the door completely wide open in the second period, three goals, Anders Björk, the primary assist on all three of those goals. Seth Jones had two in the second period and Jason Dickinson making it four zero, Lucas reichel added one in the third period. We'll get to all of the highlights, but first the player with the most heart sponsored by northwestern medicine with teams that take on the toughest cases at over 200 locations. That's an easy one I think tonight, folks, Alex stalock 35 saves 11th career shutout, second this season. He was outstanding. So was Björk Seth Jones with a couple of goals as we've been talking about a real full complete performance from the Blackhawks tonight when, you know, just a handful of days after the trade deadline, no Patrick Kane anymore, Jonathan tave still sideline. A lot of their key players were sent out of town and they put together that performance. That was impressive stuff from the Blackhawks. Well, it gets to some locker room sound here with the players had to say. We think again to Andreas Ethan to see you for stopping by our postgame studio here. Great to talk with him. Thanks to John Weidman for sticking around. Plenty more to come on the Chicago Blackhawks postgame show. I'm Kevin Powell. This is Blackhawks hockey on 7 20, WGN

"And he's going to be like, he's going to be an integral piece. That's not necessarily how it works. And so that's I think we're a part of their plan follows through too. The timing is also odd because when Jim Rutherford first took over as president of hockey ops, he spoke about one of the first things that he wanted to do was we got to fix the cap situation, right? Then in January, more recently, which is essentially a year after he first took over the job and had mentioned the importance of fixing the cap situation. He says that the cap situation they inherited was it's been difficult. It's a bigger mess than we thought. Which totally fair. A lot of those contracts y'all have. Larsen won Tom Myers ten year Pearson on and on. They have been from the last administration. What's odd to me though is also in that same January press conference more recently, around 6 weeks ago, Rutherford said that for the Canucks to execute the vision that they see in terms of a quick turnaround and getting this team back to sort of being an eventual contender was, again, carving out that cat flexibility. One way or another. It's odd to me that they've gone out and made a splashy acquisition before carving out that Catholic's ability, right? Best are still in the books, Miller still in the books. Like you don't know what you're gonna do with Myers in the off season. Alvin said today that the prices to get off of some of these contracts were too difficult and now you're gonna enter an off season where you need to get off of money and there's no leverage. They're not in a position to be giving away future assets to get off a bad money right now. They need every single one of those assets. A 100% and also if they, you know, it's been a year and a bit now. They've been through two trade deadlines in a philosophy. And they haven't been able to move any of their big ticket contracts, right? They've made moves to clear cap on the margins, right? Riley stillman, they gave up a second to get off Jason Dickinson and bring a rally steelman. More recently, they've made these one to $3 million sometimes they've been able to pull those off, but they haven't been able to carve out that mid range or bigger contracts. Four to 6 million. Yeah, so that's still a major concern to me is how are you going to get rid of those because that's necessary to continue improving? Because again, I can see a scenario where they are competitive for the playoffs next season, but beyond that, I'm like, is that your ceiling, then a team that can make the playoffs that things go right, but how are you going to build beyond that down the road?

"The Blackhawks had just 14 shots on net in their loss to Vancouver to a Tuesday night tonight in Calgary. 29 total shots, a 5 one victory over the Calgary flames. I'm Kevin Powell, postgame coverage continues up until 1130, the Blackhawks with a strong performance tonight against the Calgary flames just about everybody getting in on the action, a real nice bounce back for the hawks who didn't have their best game of the season Tuesday night at Vancouver Connor Murphy with an empty net go Tyler Taylor radish had a goal in the first period and the hawks scored three unanswered goals in the second period Boris katchouk, Jason Dickinson, as well as Sam lafferty all getting in on the action. So creating more scoring opportunities that was stressed very much. Going into this game by the Blackhawks coaching staff, they had 14 shots on net in Vancouver before that. Just 19 against St. Louis in 18 the game before that, 1819 14, the total shot attempts for the Blackhawks and their previous three games the night 29 total and just a much better effort from the hawks all around, top to bottom, Jackson, stubborn, who in his second career NHL starts, save 34 of 35 shots. He's now two and zero to begin his NHL career, the 23 year old sign with the Blackhawks as an undrafted free agent last year. So he's taken advantage of these opportunities. He's given, and it's great to see young players get in on the action for the Blackhawks who are rebuilding, but it's been a nice couple of weeks for the hawks. They've won 7 of their last ten, one more to go until the all star break. And then, you know, of course, more talk about the trade deadline, which is looming, that's March 3rd. So a little over a month for the Blackhawks for an office to figure out what exactly they want to do with Patrick Kane and Jonathan taze and what do Patrick Kane and Jonathan taves want head coach Luke Richardson talked about that a bit before the game. I think when I first met them

At the nasir this time fees the left point Johnson spins it down behind the net pays as it rolls out in front leaves it for Athens to see you in the right wing circle, but has found it out of there by Roy. Kept the line by mccabe right point. Moves it down behind the king that radish to Anthony see you in the left circle and he fires from there that deflects behind the net. Here's mccabe all the way down from the right point to the corner. Leaves the puck there for Jonathan daves. Spins off a chuck from Sean Jersey once and then twice. Caves feeds the right point mccabe sends it left point Jack Johnson side steps a check moves down to the left wing corner. Put the puck behind the net, the Taylor radish. He'll scrape it free to change left corner who centers. And that's picked off by tempeh moves at the Jersey. He clears the puck to the log through line Jack Johnson's got it there and now Johnson back in the hawk's home will hold the puck as a hawks complete a line change. That's a good shift there by Jonathan Tay's Athens see you in radish. Jason Dickinson takes a handoff from Johnson to center race. Tires it down the left side boards in behind the net. And a check now by entwistle against walker against the end boards the puck bounces around to the near side and the kings get it. Diallo with a pass for brunstrom over the hotline down the left wing to the corner. Check by ragu. And now fishing the puck free whips it behind the hawk at the Caleb Jones. He'll advance it up the left wing side at center right front of the benches to enter whistle. Fling it down the boards in behind the king net quick out the stop it there and then play it into the near corner to Adler Hitler passing up the near side for fiala back to edler. And then over to walker to see out breaking through center race, crossing the hawk line to the right point. He spends it across. This has taken in the near corner. Capari has got it for the kings, fed it out from the left point to Anderson. Sends it down to grunge from back of the net. He put it out in front look out it's in Caleb Jones escapes, but he kicks it out of there to lafferty who can't clear the zone. Now and trestle trying to scoop it out lafferty is able to scrape it over the blue line to center ice forcing the kings to back up and then lost the puck in front of the penalty boxes. Brunstrom got it to fiala. Steps to the hawk blue line left point and then firing it down the boards. It'll be stopped by marassa behind the net. Caleb Jones has it there. 8 24 left in period number three. And the hawks and kings are tied up at one. Back in the king's own now, down he put the puck up the near board. To lasagna. The Cali up to the hawk line on the left wing side where he runs into Murphy, but he got it down to the corner in Las op will fire from there. Chest say made by mirazi. Lemieux behind the Natalya from the right board fires kicked out of there by mirazi. Kashuk takes a puck for the haunch. The Reese Johnson at sunrise. "Like that's that's why cogs was on our proverbial shutdown line. You know him fox on komo. That's what they did. They went out there and made they made the game extremely hard for top players just by forechecking and controlling the puck ends own that it was impossible to get the puck from that line and they just dominated in that aspect. They didn't put up a ton of points but they were relentless. Yep so what. Are you expecting in vancouver. Who the first person to call you first of all from the organization while jim benning yup. Call me right away to say congratulations. Welcome to the team. I spoke to travis. Green the next day Same sort of thing. Welcome to the team. Don't wanna take up too much time excited to have you. We think you can fit in great with this team and where we're headed and then from there it was kind of now. We're gonna talk about. Where are you going to fit in. So where do they see it. Where did they tell. You told me be flexible. Something i've gotten used to at kind of made that my identity in dallas was on a given night. I didn't know where. I was going to play so i was just opened anything. I was ready to play weighing ready to play center as ready to play top six bottom six wherever they needed me. I was ready to go. So i think it's going to be similar situation To start the season and then we'll kind of iron out Exactly what kind of a role i can form in vancouver is important to be a good team to be flexible like that. But there's any of you ever say. I really liked to play with to is for a year. Of course Chemistry is it's talked about but not not enough in dallas in particular. I think of like jamie and tyler there. Two guys that have had chemistry for years. They've created that. You know something like that is important to finding success and continuing to have success because if you're constantly having turnover you constantly trying to learn other guys games and figure out what they like and what they don't like and where to be on the ice for them and and how to get yourself into the right spots to to make that line successful so when you're doing it on a constant nightly basis it's even harder so definitely a little consistency goes a long way. We joked about the beginning of the interview. But i'm a big believer as you play in canada. Yes the risk can be high but the rewards are high. If you are successful there they will remember and appreciate it forever. What have your teammates. Your new teammates told you about playing there you know. We haven't dove into it. I've been warned to be ready that when the nights are bad. They're bad but like you said when the nights are good they're real good and the team. Windsor loses in the playoffs in the city burns right. That's how it goes so you know you. You know you're gonna get good fans people that understand the game and truly truly care about. It's not just the average fan. That's like oh this is something to do on a given you've got people that truly care about the organization and where it's been an. It's not jumping from team to team. They've been with this team since the beginning. Last one real quick vancouver plays edmonson first time next season you line up against connor mcdavid. What do you do shadow him. I'm going to be stuck to his hip you know. Don't give him an inch because he'll take on that guy's incredible. It's hard to shut them down. You know tried to do it in junior. And i was happy if he walked out of the game with two points. You know that was a good night. So i don't think much has changed for him at this point really know he's doing the same.

"Even just nhl hockey players every kid growing up. Those are the two things at the very top of the of the dream board and definitely online. We do all the best. Whether it's with the winnipeg jets or team canada. Thanks so much and best of luck. This season beijing. I hope so. Jason dickinson joins us. You're on The podcast and first of all congratulations on becoming a member of the vancouver canucks. Whenever anyone goes for an american team to a canadian team we always ask the same question. What do you think. It's going to be like playing in canada now. You're ontario kid. But worthing is going to be like playing vancouver. Yeah it's gonna be a big change from dallas. Obviously the market's going to be a little vicious Accepted even-handed fair. Right down the middle You know the canadians. They're passionate about hockey. So i can't blame him at all. It's gonna be exciting to play in front of passionate fans that you know really care about the game. Did you know something was gonna happen with you. And the weather it going to be seattle or whether it was going to be a trade. Did you have a sense that something was gonna happen. Yeah yeah you know. I spoken to my agent and we had a pretty honest conversation that we knew kinda going to be the odd man out. There are some obvious names that they had to protect you. Know the no movement clause situations things like that. You have to protect those guys so we knew that something was going to happen and then thankfully enough. Jim knows very upfront with us and spoke to us along the entire process and wasn't leaving us in the dark. Where else could you have gone. Did you know like because there was a lot of interest. I heard yeah I didn't get the entire list of teams. But i knew that there was about six or seven that were talking for about maybe a week before the expansion draft Sorry these lists were less reduced exactly so during that week. There is a number of teams that were checking in but Know extreme interest in what dallas was asking. Now nobody listens to this podcast so you can tell us which teams did you say. Please don't send me there. Whatever you do please don't send me to this city. There's no team that. I would say that to anywhere i can play in the nhl. Be happy says it very smart answer wise wise individual. I just wanna talk to you about last year. Like you go to game six. The stanley cup final. You're right there and you guys had to battle a lot to get there. Your team was beaten up you or one of several guys. Were basically on fumes to get there. You get a couple of months off and then right at the beginning of the season you have an outbreak on your team and you know just the last calendar year or so of hockey in dallas. What was that like. It was tough like you said a lot of guys battling through things. is very dense schedule for us. This past season especially Obviously the the bubble run that we had was also very busy. We were basically playing every other day and then the season after it was the same thing and it got frustrating. Obviously you know we saw where we were the year before. And you know. We kept seeing our playoff hopes. Die out as the season went on and it was hard to accept that because obviously we had a group there. That was good enough to be there. Good enough to get to the playoffs at the very least and you know we were just underperforming. It seemed like every time we lost by one goal or it was in overtime. I think we had a ridiculous number of over the last year that you know if we win those games we would have been sitting in a much different position and getting segi year. Bish backed by the end of the season would have helped us in playoff push but we had left theirselves Too little too late. When i say the name anton khudobin your smile he smile. Look what goes through your mind. I can picture. Is that video of him in the in the dressing room. We're not going home that's dobie you know. He is an incredible guy around the room He brings that energy No matter what he he resets every single day he he. is competitive. You know after games that he didn't perform so well you know he's gonna have fire but you know the next day he's coming in like it never even happened and he's gonna reset and he's gonna show up for you you know Before the interview. You and i talk very briefly about your time playing with the gulf sort of the. Oh l. and you're a big time score and a year real good offensive player in the oh l. rewatching the same game. No he likes. Listen you're part of an offensive team with Who would robby fabbri would have been on that team in february machar's dom again he get a good team and you're a real big piece of that. How did you have to change your game when you turn pro. I think things got a little bit. Tighter margins were smaller. I think junior had a little bit more leeway to create more and be a little bit riskier because the game just wasn't quite as fast as skilled as the nhl. So i had to tighten up a little bit when i became pro I went to the a and had to figure things out a few years. And i didn't make my jump into the nhl. When i thought i would and that was because i didn't know how to balance my game anymore. I thought i could continue playing the same way i was and It was. When i figured out that i could be much better defensively than i was being and still be dominant on the offensive side not as productive necessarily but more dominant. In the fact that. I wouldn't be giving up chances. I would be creating more and not necessarily the puck would necessarily go in the net. But i be creating that time zone. I be creating that tough kind of style for other top players to play against. See the guy that i think of hearing you talk like that is andrew kogyo that he's a guy who liked profoundly changed the game and has always been sort of an undercover selke trophy candidate because of it..

"You only things happened. So i'm looking forward to see what he does this year. Will you miss the canadian division. That's no i. I so i think. I think everyone's excited to play every team again. I think i love to play canadian teams a little more because we only get the. I love coming in toronto. I get to go out for dinner with my parents I get to see friends. I get to you know. Get they get to come to the game all that stuff. But i'm definitely excited Got under the state's a little bit and and the crazy thing is is now we haven't seen players or teams in so long like if feels like forever ago that we played against the caller avalanche nate mckinnon. And you're like that teams changed so much like only i think we only played kale mc are twice so it's like now all of a sudden we gotta go back and play this guy this to your older my car when we could have had an rookie season more. So they're both really still really good so I'm excited to play every team. I think that's the biggest thing in and obviously getting to travel around a little more. And i'm very excited for that. Your last year was challenging for everybody Covert has made everybody's life challenging to be generous. And i can only a lot of times last year. I said i can only imagine what it's like being on a hockey team and going through this and there were times every player goes through. Every team does where the nerves felt really close to the skin guys would snap quickly totally understandable. We're all going through it when you look back at last season you ever say to yourself. Maybe i should've taken aback A little bit here but given the circumstances. It's it's understandable. How do you. How do you look at last year. I think you just look at it as a learning lesson like you know. Everyone has never gone through this. You know we're going we're an entire world is going through something that they've never gone through before we're all we're all learning. Were all coping raw figuring out a whole lot of things. You know kind of minute by minute. You know we really. We really don't know what to expect. In kind of the way i looked at it last year was we. Were just very lucky to be able to play hockey. We were so lucky to be able to play hockey and and do our jobs and You know in the way. I looked at it i. I was hoping that you know we gave hockey fans. You know a little bit of reprieve from a very stressful time getting to watch hockey. That's kinda the way. That's the way i looked at it. You know i would you know. We got to play hockey. We got a reprieve people to be able to watch hockey. Just get enthralled in a game and get excited about a game and watch their favorite team and watch a sport that they love and get out of their head. 'cause this past year and a half has been the most anxious time for a lot of people you know everything that people that are going through a lot alone time a lot of time now to get not getting to see your family. You have older relatives. You don't get your you weren't able to see them so you know it's a tough time and i think there's something we're all gonna learn from. I think it's something that we're all gonna. We're all going to be better off from you know but it was definitely. There's a lot a lot of tough days for a lot of people last year. And i think when you when you have your health when you have your when you have your loved ones that are all healthy and happy All you can do is be thankful. And that's kinda the way. I looked at this last year. And a half. You talked about pierre-louis going through versity. I don't check my instagram. Dm's but at some point. During the summer i did and mark. I wanted to tell you. I had some deanna from people who knew you and they said that they were very upset for you because you know they felt that you know. Obviously there was a penalty that had to be paid but they felt that what you went through after the suspension was much and they were very concerned for you in the public nature of it and some of the criticism you talk. Just how do you feel right now. After everything in the way the season ended honestly. I feel great. I'm a. I'm a pretty positive person You know i'm very lucky. I have some pretty amazing parents. Amazing girlfriend mazing dog. Brother and sister. I i i honestly. I'm very lucky to have the people that i have around me because it was you know there were some tough some tough days some tough thoughts going through my mind but you know i look at that as you know. That's what we do is a privilege. You have the responsibility to take no public criticism. That's kind of the name of the game. You know you're going to deal with it and you know. My parents have taught me how to cope how to how to understand that. And you know my parents you know. They got bullied. They got calls. They got threats all that stuff but you know they don't deserve that. That's something that i think is totally across line. I can handle that criticism. I can handle that. That's something that. I you know when you sign nhl contract and you play in front of millions of people you know you have to take that responsibility and i look at that as something that i that you. It's a learning lesson. It's something that i signed up for. And and that's a privilege that i have to be in. Nhl hockey player and be in the public eye. But no my parents don't my family doesn't but know i got through it. I you know. I kinda had my my last remarks at the end of the season and i went by my summer kind of the way that i always do is trying to become a better hockey player. A better person a better around human being and you know. I worked on my game. I got in the gym. I golf the line. I got to see my friends. I got to see my family. I got to Enjoy my summer and you know things start to open up a little bit which was obviously very nice and you know i thought the whole summer was just become a better hockey player. Become better hockey player for the winnipeg jets for my teammates for my linemates for myself. And you know i had. I had a great summer of doing that..

"That's one of the questions that we get to with him also talked to him about the transition from dallas to vancouver and did he think at the end of all of it he was always going to be the odd man out with the stars. Quick thought on. We're going to hear a little bit later on our interview with jason dickinson. Your thoughts on the player. Oh i think he's a heck of a player. I think vancouver had a pretty good off-season. I i think they added a lot of depth. I still think there d might be a one or two players short. But i liked the what they did up front. I think they've added some really good forwards and You know like as we tape this pederson hughes aren't signed. I think they've made progress on hughes at least at the end of the week i last week i hadn't gotten a lot of sense of what progress on pederson though i hesitate to say that 'cause things can change pretty quickly but i liked what vancouver did for the most part last off season and i'm curious to see what facility put colson y'all bring to the To the max where. We're used to hot shot. Calder trophy candidates in vancouver. We had a brief reprieve last season. You wonder if we get back to it. This year with podkolzin We'll also hear from mark sharply. Who will not play the first game for the winnipeg jets. This seasons suspended technically for that Hit last year. In the playoffs. On jake evans We get into a few things with schaffler. Who is we. All know is one of the more thoughtful hockey players out there. Twenty four seven guy. He's not the guy that turns the tv off when his team is out of the playoffs. He's the all in guy we asked limp question with mark schaffler as well. We'll hear from schaffler here and a couple of moments anything standout out the evening standard with mark safely and you this offseason questions you have about double nickels in winnipeg. Well one of the things that you know. We talked about briefly in the interview. Was that you know. I do check my twitter. Dm's fairly frequently. But i don't check my instagram ones and part of that is. I don't not instagram. As much as i am on twitter and secondly i can only check one area of hate-filled messages at a time. You you you can't do it. It's simply too much a full bath. Dive right in la. I jump into the acid bath on twitter. Poll i am limited to how much i can do it on instagram. So finally later. In the summer. I i did check my. Dm's on or on instagram. And you know there. There were a few people who knew chiefly after his suspension for hitting jay gavin's they wrote to me and they said that they were friendly with shy flee. They knew safely and they felt what happened to him. Had been unfair. And you know. I think the thing that they all agreed on was that they agreed. He deserved to have a punishment. And we all know what punishment was as you said. He is still suspended one more game but they thought that some of the things that happened in the aftermath of that particularly with his family were way over the top and unacceptable. So you know that was one of the things we talked about. And i didn't know what to expect when we ask them. The question will leave it to everyone here to hear it. But i i know there were some people that felt that while they understood that he needed to have a punishment for it. They thought some of the things that happened in the aftermath were really unfair to his family. Sh and we'll kick off the podcast with an interview. Which was the first one we did when we got here That i really enjoy. He was which was pure luke wa an hour. The more controversial players from last season the trade from columbus to winnipeg quarantine. The injuries Struggles that criticism. All of it. He's wide open with first of all. I agree with you. I thought do blah was really interesting to listen to. he was willing to talk and philosophical. I think that it's pretty obvious. And people will hear it that this is a guy who now looks at this as the fresh start you may have looked at last year. The fresh start. It just didn't line up that way and this is the fresh start and you get the sense that he's nudging closer to explaining what happened in columbus we thought we were going to drag it out of him first of all. He's much stronger than the two of us. He can handle the two of us together with one hand tied behind back. He's a physical marvel. He's clearly not ready yet. I don't know if you've ever will. I wonder i don't know see. I got the sense and listeners. Hearing this podcast judge for themselves it almost feels as if he's entering a process of wanting to and just warning to find the right time or the right venue. I don't know see. I have a rule you know i i reach a point jeff personally where i say if i don't say by now it's the past. Yeah i don't get that sense of. Yeah i don't. This is officially the start of the new season. Yes and I'm really looking forward to this year of podcasting amel and everyone else and we're glad to have y'all back and i'm really excited for this year. To start. last year was a strange year because of covert and everything this year. We're hoping it's going to be a little bit more normal. So i hope like i think everybody in hockey needed a vacation. A lot of us have been going for twenty three months straight before getting august off some people working harder than others like me working really hard jeff working really hard om about sixty percents of the two of us But we know a lot of people out there like in hockey outside break last summer in august and i hope you all got refreshed and we're really looking forward to this. We're excited to be back for all of you. We're ready to go. We have comfortable footwear. We're all set to rock and roll for another season without will kick it off. Here's pure luke. Dubois and winnipeg jets on thirty for me. It's to the project going to start the interview with here looked winnipeg jets by handing.

"Deep on the deployment of jason dickinson on the vancouver. Can we haven't even seen him on the ice yet. But that's where we are in all of this i arm. You expect that he will be one of their primary penalty killers. Jay beagle out beagle and maat were a tandem that performed reasonably well you see dickinson sort of sliding in and just replacing all jay beagle brought in that element of the game. Yeah and especially if You know i suspect. They'll obviously turn to brandon sutter as their primary kind of pk. Centerman beyond that. You're right because you look at your other of center options and you know i. I wouldn't want to be putting pederson in that situation in that spot. Hor vat really think the peak as his niece. So really i mean dickinson kind of makes senses as the next next option there and he's obviously a lot of experience doing it He averaged last couple seasons. I think he's been around the two minutes a game rain in terms of. Pk is time. So i think it makes sense as a natural kind of second penalty killing option behind Behind sutter in from everything. That i've seen there's been nothing in this kind of profile that suggests he doesn't poor job of it so i think he's a pretty natural fit there. I saw some of these Unique top nine concoctions harm but the ones that leave. Jt miller at center and some push dickinson to the wing. Is that just crazy. Town is a case for that. What are your thoughts. I'm personally not a fan of it. I'd like to just see them. Stick miller at wing because again you know when when i kind of watched him in that. Watch the tape of center. I just thought he could play center well. But he's just that much better based on a strengths along the walls the only case for it would be if you believe in the idea of a more balanced top nine and trying to spread more talent around your lineup But when i look at this connects team though the way. They're going to have to win hockey games the competitive advantage that they're going to have to lean on maui. Opinion is going to have to be the top six because it's not going to be their back end with the with the way the right side is constructed and now obviously goaltending..

"I'll leave it at that Coyotes made some good moves. And i think that they're going to be looking to unload even more guys. I heard christian d'ivoire acts names in the mix. They basically said anybody's fair game at this point in time. Other than jacob chicken asked ask smash a forty nine foot twenty sixty nine on twitter. This which one asks mashal when he saw. I got the fuck it twitter handle about what chart all of them probably boston. You balls buddy on like. Oh yeah i love you. I've been hearing is like some guy was east and it was mine. It was my burner. Yeah i've been hearing online. The coyotes are going to the challenge. So you just have to leave the league. An- another guy who's who's up for a big contract. Connor garland so. I don't i don't know if i don't know if they're going to sign him and then move him or or Trade him now because he's a restricted free agent so some teams going to need his services but the coyotes needs to get worse before they get better. We gotta get some high end. Picks in here. And i've said enough of that. Why are you laughing. Because i kept talking about the oats. I'm laughing as you say. They get worse before the better got much worse. We have to get bizarre. I'll moving along. A long island is also re up. Andy green veteran defenseman one year. Seven hundred fifty k. Two hundred and fifty k. and bone. This guy doesn't leave no. He was left but you know he was a pretty good steady veteran. Presence of the last couple of years in the island is in the playoffs show and just to go back to that aden hildale. San jose traded a second in two thousand twenty two in goalie josef coronado to arizona for aden hill and a seventh in twenty two hilas arafat made eight hundred k. Lajja pretty good prospects for me at a pretty decent year Phoenix last year cup. All the signings pittsburgh signed for teddy blue busy just mentioned him two years. Four point four million dollar deal calgary. Signed ford richie to a one year. Nine hundred thousand dollar deal dallas also added. I'm sorry also traded jason dickinson disorderly. They traded d. jason dickinson vancouver for third in twenty twenty one and florida reupped. Anthony declared three nine dollar deal in. Defenseman gustav forsling three eight million dollar deal going going to forsling People seem to love him and then that number they got him at now also do claire. He was left unprotected as well. Right all right after signing the deal. Yeah where whereabouts. Another guy who might get picked up in that expansion drafts i would. I would pick him deal for three million. So i mean he's proven like granted he's proven it on one year deals lately. You know when he's has to play well. But i don't know who else have the entire florida list in front of me but that guy can move could skate. And it's not a huge hit. I wouldn't be shocked if that's picked by seattle and boys. We had a couple of retirement. Since we last met pecker rene retired after fifteen. Nhl seasons all spent with nashville played six hundred eighty three games easy franchise leader in games. Played wins goals against time on ice shutouts and saves nhl history. He's one thousand. Nine hundred shouts tied for nineteenth and wednesday won. The vezina back in. Eighteen was a finalist three other times. Most games played wins and shadowed by finnish. Goalie of obviously the best in national franchise history. He kinda really helps solidify the make them become a contender in he had the option. He said he had the option to come back but he just felt the time was right now in any hung up any thoughts boys on beckoning and without knowing the guy you you just hear nothing but great things and now we say this guy's to retire but this guy truly was one of the favorite predators to ever play in that organization fans absolutely loved them. You so friendly. He treated everyone with such respect. And i remember when he won the vezina he gave an emotional like teary eyed speech. I think it was fourth try. I was reading trying to get the best and he finally won it and gave this amazing speech where you kind of saw the character and and a guy who's worked so hard to become one of the top always in the league and did he not have some seasons their holy shit he was a monster increase for he was so big. I think he was one of the. I'm not gonna say this is why at all. But he was one of those first. Huge goal is when you're like. Is this the future. You seek mas- leschi you see how tall and big some of these goals are and rene made it. Look so easy. And i think that when you see teammates talk about him joel ward gave a quote nath athlete carl article i read about how great of a guy was so down to earth. It also said not that after every game win or lose. He's meeting young kids at the game whether they were sick or whether they were going through tough times. He's the guy who's getting down low talking on face to face. And the way he played was just he made the you made it look so easy when he was on there was just nothing to shoot at and i i mean you got to respect them to. He's retiring he didn't have to but he realizes is his heart isn't in the game anymore is head isn't in the game but that's the guy who was a predator hall of fame. I don't know if they have that. Maybe he does end up getting his number retired there someday but the fans were so grateful and the way. The season ended to gave the skate around the rink. I don't know if you remember the lap around the rink in his last game or last home game. Whatever it was so a goaltender will be remembered. Forever mean he won vezina trophy and he was a dominant player for a long time in the nhl. So congrats on an amazing career. You talk about growing the game too. And i mean you go down to nashville and you just see the way that the players in iraq and to see a guy of that stature doing it and you know we always the culture. The culture the culture. I ended up going down there to nhl first timers with jalen ramsey. And you see during warm all the fans and all the guys give knuckles on the glass. I mean i think. Pk was still there at the time you do it. And he's one of those guys that he you know. He created the culture there. And that's the reason why this nontraditional hockey market was able to to rise to where they have where they're selling out the building all time and it's the biggest party in town so congratulations on a wonderful career arena. Hopefully we can get him on the podcast. To talk about it now are was any. Was there any mention of him. Sticking around with organization or is he just to kinda back off for a year. And i didn't read anything that's not to say that's not true. I don't know if that's what he's going to do right now. I get the impression he was kinda step away from a bit. But i'm sure that's the type of organization he's the type of player. Where if he wanted to do anything. Yeah gladly opened the door for a guy. Like i think they got ben vander clock. There's goalie coach right now but not even necessarily to be a goalie coach but just to be a guy who's around the rink and you know maybe the management's able to to pull them in where they can vet situations and get his opinion on things or even just be a guy who who's shaking hands and kissing babies so i don't know if some of these guys when they're done they do like to go back home back over to their The countries where they come from..

"It's a great. It's a little older but the with the ground floor and say is still fast cigarettes. Not old i mean he's older. He's older he's thirty. I think in that crazy to think he's almost thirty so anyways. And then that would mean that on the third line that would be jamie benn and blake coleman. I guess you could put tv on the other side. That's not a bad third line and honestly the way that jamie benn has been digressing over the past couple of years with his point totals i think part of that is the system. That bowness has in place. But i think it's it's also just because he's getting older and maybe this we've seen the best of jamie benn but if he can keep him out of third role. I think he can still be super effective. What do you think. What's your thoughts on that. I think that's a great idea. I like being able to spread out the lines as well in. That would make all of our lines really good. It would make us not have a great second line. In my opinion source second line would just kind of be Decent but our it'd be one of the best third lines in the league in our fourth line would still be really strong the way it's always been for us so i think i think that's a great option while in on that fourth line and you know assuming that Dickinson in fox Are not taking more. May one of the two. I don't know the plans of geno. One tuesday too but i mean. Imagine a fourth line of jason dickinson radic fox and blake comeau. That's not a bad for the time. Line and considering the defensive prowess of roddick fox and the fact that he can he can occasionally score goals. He's not the offensive juggernaut that we drafted him to be but he's kind of forced himself into that Defensive role in the same adjacent dickinson doesn't score as much goals as foxy but again. He's a very good defensive forward and that gets me excited you know. Yeah that's what. That's what i was saying. All last season our fourth line last season literally h. l. guys and now the this season and we still haven't made the playoffs like we probably should've and this season our whole whole extra line of guys. That are way better so yeah. This is really exciting for me. I think it's going to be a really good chance for us to go really deep in the playoffs. I am very excited for this upcoming year. And i'm so excited about the short offseason and all this stuff that's gonna fill the short off and now it's gonna feel like there's not even an offseason. I feel like it's going to be great. Yeah it's gonna be awesome so for those of you. That don't know where we just ended yesterday. Hockey ended yesterday. And we're so excited for hockey. Oh i know yeah. Did you see saudi. You said is the tweet this morning. He's he just put. I miss hockey. That's the morning actor. I'm already excited for this upcoming year. This is going to be a lot of fun and Congratulations once again to simply by lightning to wrap things up an also. Congratulations to the macho canadians. Who blew away. Pressel, Adele, a left sided Dickinson ruling it in Cirelli quickly after Johnson and centers Charlie back with corn and Johnson to start this game. He was up to point a lot of the end of the last game. He lost it centralized, Lind. L don't today must find the lightning net sorely, is there Folks it up the middle of corn made high stick that out of the year, he said. It was all right. Good road leading far Corner couldn't clear knocking down Jeannie Ben CenterPoint. Misfires there by the Lightning to clear the zone, then rolls into the near corner attracted his drop past finds us taking Alexia to pass stolen by good road. Good job by him. He got it out of the self. Robertson, right wing Ben back for Jason Robertson things it in over a minute in no score already, Wow was able to grab it and slip it out with Dell right back wide offside. Writing come out in time with Robertson, but he did not do so. 18 37 left, and they score was first. She right there That, in my estimation, should have been called on automatic. Ended up getting covered up by Khudobin. And he freezes it. 17 42 left in the score was first. I like the way Maroon took that It was way behind him, and he kicked it with escape to the stick and try to get in front where Joseph Tried to deflect it, but he didn't. But it went on that sort of the shot on goal face off to the right of the doorman. Radic, Fox and Ross. Cold coldness tossed. So it's Joseph and Fox up Joseph Windsor, but it comes out between appointment. Here's Yon routed back in the lineup after missing the last 18 games. With.

"Ridiculous it's also frustrating and this goes back to talking about you know everybody being tired and you know all the mistakes that were made in tonight's game you know from a from a structure standpoint with all the all the turnovers all the there wasn't a bunch of there wasn't a lot of skating tonight it was more trying to get the stick on the puck or whatever and i mean he he's bonuses having to play the top three lines all the time yet. That's what you have to do. You can't rule for like we'd like to just because literally our fourth line age align line like not even like oh that server statement now is like that's our age align last year so when we get those three back like i'm excited to see like if we can play for the panthers this well when they're desperate for a win and we don't have a fourth line like i'm excited for what's going to happen when if win if we can get healthy well like jason dickinson could should be on that fourth line. Probably it says the first on the fourth line. He's he's on the line normally on our first line right played forty minutes. It's just frustrating right now with everything that's going on and you know it. I know a lot of people are frustrated with how the stars are playing right now on the fact that we can win games right now. But that's just the story of the season right now is this. We're we're not executing there's injuries left and right to all of our top players. Were asking players to step in. Who shouldn't be asked to step in like robertson. He's our he's been like the lifeblood of the stars offense for the month of march and You know we have people like denis gurianov jamie benn who are not you know not doing anything basically there tonight. We're looking better at least a little bit but it exactly but that that's the problem though. Is it like oh we look good but this happened or good but we're not getting enough executional if we wanna if you wanna make the playoffs when we don't have our top three scores than both of those guys need to be on. They can't just be okay. They have to be great if we want to get to the playoffs when we don't have our first line so that's just what i think if we look back on the season like from the future especially if we don't make the playoffs it's going to be. This was the injury season like and reorder three of your best scoring forwards and your vezina goalie out for the whole season like i read. Remind people of that more like in overall. I know it really..
