"With the they got the flab hanging out there and i it's disgusting and they got the boob bouncy up at ted up and down the rows. I don't get it. The girls gone wild. Why don't they have the boy gone wild. I don't know pedic. J. suda wants to see that jason's chocolate japanese. Oh gosh Favorite saying that from now on his. Don't we need a t shirt for that. But i don't want anybody to buy that. Actually there's a story told me once about a tyson. Tomko pre-tape with eric bischoff. And i know everybody right now is on the edge of their seats. The getting tyson. Tomko story Can you share that with our listeners. Well this kind of goes to you. Asked earlier about eric being involved. Was there anything that he was doing. His creative wiser or behind. The scenes and eric was strictly a talent and eric and i worked together. We did a lot of things and there were there. Were two moments. That i really got to see eric. Bischoff and got to know. Eric and in one was in saginaw michigan. I got some really really bad news about five minutes before we going live in the live shot was with eric. And i was in no condition to produce the spot with eric. Eric jumped in and just took over in debt. And it's something that got fucked up left up. But i remember eric. Standing up and taking the heat going to vince and in covering for it and i was like all right you know. He's he's a good guy. And then there was an incident worth travis tomko. He had doing a promo back and forth pre-tape with there and we had it written one way and it just wasn't working in. Eric had another way to do it. He pulled me off to the side and he said what if you tried it this way. I said you know what i'm gonna do it. And we went live and we did it and everybody was told. Wait in the room. And here comes vince. Barreling into the room which usually was not good if he was coming into told thereby weight and he came in and he comes up. God damnit that was great so much better than what we had written. Rose scott dammit good jobs. It would me was there in. That was the moment that. I think eric could trust me. And that's wherever they kind of change. Were we just kinda k kinda bonded at that point but he he pulled me off to the side had a suggestion a used it. It worked loved it. Then we move on from there but it was just kind of that turning point that you always remember. Can you think of any other stories where you were producing segments or skits. Bits or whatever with eric that really stand out as being memorable or one specific moment where you earn distrust. I phrase that way because wrestling historically breeds a lot of paranoid people who think that everybody's out to bury somebody or something. I think you know once once we got to that tomko thing and he knew that i wasn't gonna take credit for his stuff or one one of those guys. Go around and go. Ooh that was my idea of give credit where credit was due and i. I was also the guy that had to tell him. Hey that was a good job. That was a bad job in especially after we would go live. If we'd shit the bed you got address it afterwards. And i just think that we after very short period of time and got to the point where there was a trusts there and he didn't have his guard up in thing. I was out to fuck him. It wasn't going to do anything to bury him. That i was just trying to get the best product out and it just became easier when you have that trust. It's like steve austin. We would discuss something and he may not agree with it. But if i felt really strongly about it he was good enough with me he would. Okay i'll do it and you know it. Just it just takes time with talent. Didn't take as long with eric. Time artless bounce around a little bit and talk about some specific moments. Let's talk about september. Second two thousand and two. This is the episode of raw eric. Bischoff just creates a new world title. It's actually the wcw world title and he just handed it to triple h on raw. It became named the world heavyweight championship. That's bischoff called it anyway and they still use it that way for years and years to come and this all comes on the heels of triple h earning shot at brock. Listeners spewed a championship. But since there's a brand split and listener was on smackdown. This is a way to get some heat on triple h and do some hail stuff here with bischoff and get a world title on raw to have that right bruce. Yeah it's also hoping you would say that this feels like something that a lot of old school wrestling guys wouldn't like the idea of creating a title and then handing it to guy right it. He didn't win anything and again it. He's a heel and that was the idea behind it that because he's a he'll and eric's he'll if you just hands it to him he'll have more heat because he didn't win it. I wasn't in favor of having another world champion. I like the idea of the undisputed champion. And i like the idea of people competing on both shows to face the world champion and only having one world champion in that died quickly it became where you gotta have. Two world champions. Want to be undisputed champion k. Then you're universal champion but now you're universal smackdown. I don't know what the fuck they are now. But i just thought it watered down.

Eric steve austin september Rose scott J. suda Tomko both shows two moments saginaw michigan Bischoff one tyson Two world champions Second vince eric one way years jason two

"Twenty secrets to success for NCWA STUDENT ATHLETES WHO won't go pro first of all Andy what's the difference between the student athlete today and the Student Athlete when you went to college, I'd say that the fluid that one's through the veins of all sports now high school college and the pro's is green and there's More money flowing through those veins every day we just look at the incredible level of March madness, which may be the greatest sports tournament known to Man and now there's much more focus on. Are we at the college level? Are we creating a fully grown adult or are we just doing half of the equation? Are we just doing an athlete not a student and what we've attempted to do in the book which is just out. with four co authors who have a lot of experience in this area is give these student athletes an opportunity to look at a strategy and not just a bunch of tactics. The look at the rest of their life because they've already benefited from a four year ride or a two year ride and everybody's knee is going sooner or later and the percentage of these men and women that become pro athletes and you've interviewed many of them that have a career longer than two years is a very small and I've been lucky enough in all of these. Sports to be around a lot of athletes who went on to greater things after they played than they did when they were great athletes. So what we've tried to do this, take some very simple examples of them to take advantage of this incredible foundation that's to them in college, and we've even talked to high schools because now you've seen it, the recruiting process starts when you're eight years old ten years old or twelve years old we might be a country a little bit out of control where parents especially in the market like northern California money is no object. People sending their sons to goalie school in in in Europe. So what we've just tried to do is bring some very simple examples these athletes in a way that. They can actually use it. They can talk to their fellow athletes and have a book that helps them become better people I. Think the problem that I have and a lot of other people have is the fact that they're still using the term student athlete I'd be more comfortable with athletes student than I would now I know only one percent go to professional sports after their playing careers in college, but I still think with the time you have to put. into it with the money that's being generated at that is really not being honest. There is no doubt and it is a massive debate that is taking place from coast to coast in terms of paying athletes, and when you're go I was lucky enough to live in the South for eight years when I was with the Memphis. Grizzlies and so on. Weekends that I wasn't working people think they're serious football in the big ten or PAC twelve and A. No go to Georgia go to Bama go to Mississippi State. Go to the go to the hedges at Georgia you're seeing something completely different and that is a multi-million dollar business which. In some instances is very difficult for those athletes to be students because they might be an even a more difficult environment than the pros because they're asked to do more than one thing which is you play for the school you generate a lot of revenue may never see a penny of it. I'm not discounting scholarship money that they're getting, but you're also growing into an adult I think we forget a lot. That these are seventeen and eighteen year old boys and girls that are becoming men and women, and I know you were fully mature seven I since I knew you back then but I wasn't and many people aren't and that kind of pressure to be in front of a packed arena would seventeen thousand or a football stadium eighty, five thousand and you go like I wanna be I wanna be the starting halfback. Might Test in you know in economics, I'll let that let that. Hang, out for a week do you think the college sports has become corrupted his you know what's been happening in college basketball you know the NC double looking at North Carolina and the things that they do there, and then you take a look at the money that's being generated how it's being generated the demands and everything is the Horse Out of the barn when it comes to college athletics. I still deal even though Ron as you know, I'm Brooklyn born synnex sarcastic person I actually believe. That the largest percentage of these athletes and programs have a higher minded goal and it's not just all under the table payments and sneaker deals, and all that now is there nastiness in this business? Heck Yeah. There's no doubt about it because of the money that we talked about but in many programs I think they're trying to do good but the pressure to win the pressure to Roi Return on Investment I. Do believe that the whole college on the d one side they've got to look at their model. Yeah I. Think. The oversight is the problem there because you've got, you've got people like presidents and chancellors that don't know whether the ball is blown up or stopped, and then you've got them having people that have gone to the school and they go and ask them for money and they're riding on their corporate jets to the Games that are away and I mean that's a conflict of interest. So I don't know where the I respect the perspective is skewed I would just refer to my time with the Memphis Grizzlies. Lucky enough to work with Shane Batty who is fully formed equality. Okay, that's. Tim Duncan and others, and then I'd have an unnamed person on the other side like Jason, chocolate, Williams you know great guy but like, Hey, my education wasn't important. I'm a baller. I'm still playing today Shane I remember at our press conference when we announced his signing someone said Shane careers over what do you want to do and he literally said I wanna be an entrepreneurial philanthropist no lie like what? What did that guy just say? The institutional failure, and that's what we talk about. If you go to the very highest levels of academia, the NC Double A., and if you look at the horrific nature of what's happened in the gymnastics world is just gymnastics. No we know there's going to be something else coming in another sport that wasn't just the hell on Earth of Dr Larry Nassar that was an institutional failure from the top to the bottom, and that's what needs to be cleaned up, and that's GonNa be hard to do because these collegiate entities are worth hundreds of millions or billions of dollars. Yeah. It's generating just for the NC, double A. Tournament. Over, a billion dollars is generated by the television networks and everything I remember when I was doing the Stanford Games play by play used to always laugh because as I walk through the plane with the Stanford players on, they were reading the Wall Street Journal David, reading periodic tables like that and I think northwestern I think duke all the Ivy League Schools Stanford. There's only a handful of them that I think has the right focus on what they're doing sports and complimenting it within their their universities or colleges, and I totally agree with that I was lucky enough. I'm lucky enough to have three children at all played.

"In consumption the dollar firmed against the majors with the Bloomberg dollar spot index rising two tenths of one percent on the day I'm Doug Krister from Bloomberg world headquarters in New York that is your Bloomberg Pacific for a moment I did get all scared I mean I know Jayce is sleeping haha difficultly B. Ali during the holidays now they it is like to make fun of my dad Carol master this is Bloomberg you're listening to Bloomberg business week with Carol Massar Angie's in Calais on Bloomberg radio all right we do you are of course listening to Bloomberg businessweek and Bloomberg radio watching us on YouTube Carol that's a lower case and Kelly you're either watching you I'm just a slave I don't like a magic you okay they're the kids of the kids are bringing Jason chocolate due to wake him up I think with the Cadbury egg that he got earlier fencing around the global macro strategist he too is working from home he joins us on the phone from New Jersey contribute to the macro squawk desk which you can listen to a live breaking news every terminal by typing S. Q. U. A. go how was your day I mean you're contributing to the blog right here actually I didn't do any writing for the blog today because I was saying too many things up because of the squawk function on the terminal could easily handle record today but I was trying to keep it down if all the states reporting closures background etcetera and all the government's reported cases so it is hard not to be to beat people over the head with that too much to say for the cute ones but suffice it to say there are more and more states spread dental leasing at Indiana and since Washington Street just just shutting down the New Jersey Devils schools with more as of I think Wednesday so then what was the most interesting thing you heard in between when you were talking to your trader bodies I think the most interesting thing was the what what the fed actually doing a second foreign trip recall five hundred in the afternoon to quickly it's just one the to take one of that was only nineteen when I was speaking traders basically said you know what fine I mean there may be some sand in the gears comes to money markets in short term rates but we don't need more quantity than liquidity is an additional meeting and hoping for a proper fiscal response from Washington because what's what's needed in these markets it's just that we we need a fiscal response we had a great deal as you can see it's not flowing through the consumer has been no changes all right so none of this is is going to impact the economy the way it needs to in order to support consumer spending and then earning settle right down the road the second most interesting thing is that he is shifting the consumers with Amazon ordering walks announcing that in hiring a hundred thousand more employees whether or not that this is a lasting fame where consumers quick transition not transition to the net before do purchases or not it will be will tell the tale down which way this economy because in future well and I will say Spencer so far had Astoria over there to the weekend that talked about I think whole foods in particular that were having some problems because people were ordering a lot more and I think they're having some problems with some delivery I guess other whole foods unit and so they just had difficulty meeting demand I have to say we order something on Amazon and we're still we're still waiting for I mean things are just not coming in and I understand it but so you do wonders you know yeah you do understand what Amazon is doing since give us some clarity we had a guest on Jeff crumbled compliment a a friend of the show and he was basically being like we need to come down here and really look at things and and I understand that things will get back to normal the economy will come back how do you see this you certainly have been involved in in some of these other downturns that we've seen in the past where that was the financial crisis or other yeah I would like you to do so little yeah I think you've got this right the problem with that is going to get a lot worse first yeah which house ramping up capacities of past and and once those numbers start coming in people often ask me when do you when do you step in and buy and I think when you when you see the headlines and if you don't make it ran out I'm obviously making this a moment but when you see the headlines of we're really hits places like New York and San Francisco the places where you'd expect you know this too to have a significant impact I think that's where you'll start to see the curve sort of turn when when those peak when you get so New York City type thing I think that's when you see the peak of the virus and things will start to get better well I knew what to do and that's by the way we make up headlines are things around here I'm just scared the hell out of all of us when you set what the heck but you don't Jeez I thought about this we talk to drew Armstrong we have to remember that we've all been wanting testing and as we do more testing the number of cases are going to escalate dramatically and that will scare people but that's what we need to do to get a better understanding of maybe how many Wuhan's we're gonna be dealing with in the United States or maybe it is just one like like we have to get ready that it's going to get worse before it gets better yet as doctors have to set an example if you think you're here you're really here Ezel India were at one place in the in the and that's what he was referring to more tests more people you know we have a long way to go we still hasn't really hit all of the numbers that are jumping in New York City but they're still far away from where they are obviously going to be but you know the governor Cuomo said last week that I hadn't even tens of thousands of people in New York state will probably have it we just don't know it yet yeah and and works to advance that there you know going to be shipping tests of the four hundred thousand per week so does start the land in those numbers start to come in I'm afraid people in overreacting panic and I think we could see as Guggenheim's Minard today said it intends to twenty percent chance this is the nineteen thirties most yeah I'll beat out liner yeah get out of it so then some of that last question for you that thirty seconds to go how's Wall Street functioning at this point you know everybody's working from home to doing their thing as you talk to people how's it all working at the moment okay dropped by his vitamins and things going down a little but I talked to one guy who put it in the water yes it is hid his his system went down about a public health check up he was the thought of this position going the other way so a little bit of that going on generally speaking I think you know we we are seeing a lot of machine driven trading a gap in the market and that is almost certainly going to continue until we see the virus numbers level off right you take a different levels right and justice of the algorithms and the machine trading all just kicks in and that's why you take it take it down or even signal elephant Q. so much global macro strategist at Bloomberg news joining us on the phone from New Jersey yeah interesting insights and I love catching up with Vince because we know he really is like when he's not squawking he is walking to his buddies we really know is old and he's seen a lot of market cycles is that or that he's he's such a gadfly and he's always talking to people and I love it it's great insights it's it's real world the real world stuff we give a real guy let's head out to San Francisco at.
