"I'm sure it'll be a little bit. I mean if you look at the super bowl and that was kind of the the last year that's kind of what kind of caught us off guard and we. We didn't adjust quickly. I think you see now that we've we've gotten to a point now where we can make it in a in game adjustments really quickly and be able to go out there and still have success And i think you saw that. I mean we definitely had a lot of man beaters because they their main coverage team around when we saw that it was gonna be a lot of zone of different types of zones. We made those adjustments and we were able to still go out there and have some success back in the land change with the charges that yeah i mean. He's one of the con- player. So whenever you have them out there. I mean he can play the deep safety or literally. Be at the line of scrimmage just as good and. I don't players like that all the time. That can literally do it all and how he just special player that you have to account for every single play interesting stuff other they. They think this is a massive massive for that. Yeah i mean it's afc west so it's gonna it's gonna be a massive game if you look at cross afc west. In general we have a lot of really good football teams and so every single one of these games we play against each other is going to be extremely important and we understand that they have a lot of lot of playmakers that are healthy. That are ready to go. And i'm sure they want to. They want to win. The game in ireland brother yelled. He's talking about that. And yeah i mean. Obviously it's something that we don't necessarily do There's things said to him and brittany that that you don't see kind of on on the clip. But i mean he's he's been good at it at not trying to respond to that stuff he takes a lot and and he's usually pretty good at it and you'll learn from it and just try to stay away from those people best he can. That seems like they've strove Earth does that put anything as far as in. Your hands is that you have to go out and just outscore teams to win. I mean i. I've talked to full trust in defense. I mean we have players out there that that may place for us for a couple years. Now we've lot of talented guys that that are joined in that in that kind of group of guys and with spanish were on that show and the history that he's had of coaching defense. I'm sure they'll continue to get better. We'll continue to get better as offense. And hopefully we can peak at the right time during the season That we can make another run at it. "Yeah so you know. It's a trivia those guys and how they how they handle that. I mean they did a nice job with it so if they're gonna roll coverage to ten opportunities there so the chargers almost two hundred rushing yards against the cowboys Does that give you some optimism that this week you can get clyde in the run game going a good opportunity for we'll shell goes. I mean we'll just play play by years ago there. We'll run it. You know but we also want bill. Throw it the better you can do. Both they're awful. Me last. two new may coach is up for a loss especially for a fan base. Used to winning this football team. What makes you feel best about. Yeah well. I think we'll get things worked out as people perceive look at the defense and they'll work itself out and they're hard workers good locker rooms on good coaches and then offensively. I think we you know. We've got to keep improving and some areas. We'll do that Listen the seasons seasons are we haven't lost a lot and so he get a loss in its in the world. You have to go out there and find a way to win and it builds you for an entire season that hopefully you can find ways to win those games. I think the season goes on and people get a real good feel for each other on offense lan and with the receivers and tight ends and the running backs. I think that that that will pick up in. And then you've seen the place mccoll's made all season long are unless uc's so we have talent everywhere it's about Getting them the ball and space and let them go..

Then we'll take a quick time out and you'll hear from defensive tackle chair and read and wide receiver byron pringle. Here's an read. We've got a couple of things of clyde As a little bit of sickness These guys are growing practices. it can here blake bells. Ankle was a slight ankles prime. But he's going to do some stuff here which is also gonna do a little bit of a surgery for these deals that he had in here that minor surgery and we're just lied to heal up there but he's going to go out and do some stuff. Chris jones hers wrist. Naughty the hip flexor strain. All these guys are gonna give you give you something out there. They go through and work. Look for the challenge. Plan the chargers. They got a good guy good football team obviously and they made some changes over the coaching staff. And also we're bringing in players and and so Chance look at them on film and they're doing a great job of playing well. Sort of preparation Today get ourselves ready to go her today. It's important. i mean he. He's an aggressive kid and when he plays and we just got to keep building the other parts of it along with it and he will. I mean he's wired that way so is he's got a chance to pick a football player down the road here. What is sorenson. He's kind of guy hot so much work. Still the art fund that so i think both are good players and Both have their their space to play. And and you know spags works man. The way he sees fed on it down obviously. He's got his qualities and and got his quality so which use their strengths. Best weekend throwing games back in the next this year tapie val feel like he picked up right where we left off. "The chiefs offense promptly throws an interception after three plays right. The ravens took that went. Right back down scorer touchdown chiefs get the ball back five. Plays thirteen yards on a pun. Give the ball back to the ravens raven score a touchdown and then the chiefs. Get them all back again. Still with a chance of salt this thing away and and the fumble so in when the chiefs offense is working when the chiefs are winning game. That's because win. The defense does get a stop. The offense capitalizes on that opportunity. That didn't happen today. No absolutely not in the other part of that with the offense. Failing is that you know your defense is tired. It's a this run heavy defense. Wears you out or just run. Heavy offense wears you out as a defense and not only did the chiefs not convert on those on those drives that you just mentioned they also were very short drives and barely gave the defense time to rest up and recover and get back on the feel old and play. You know full speed. Maybe and it's early in the season you know. The conditioning may not all the way be there. You know i it. That is a huge part of this game. And you want the defense to play better and execute. Better deathly should've but this often we're an offensive team. This is an offensive juggernaut. And you need to play an offensive juggernaut for sixty minutes of the game and they did not play like an offensive juggernaut in the last seventeen minutes of the game. That is just clear and in my opinion. That's the main reason why they weren't able to pull this one out. Yeah you mentioned it before. The chiefs have been in this position before. They've given up rushing yardage they've had teams run all over him. I'm doing air quotes here. You can see me that does happen but the chiefs typically win those games because they're opportunistic. Think about last week against cleveland. Cleveland had some success. Running the football institute shot defense and for several quarters of that game. They were it. Look like cleveland was in control of that ballgame but what happened was the chiefs defense. Made big plays. They were opportunistic. Got turnovers and the chiefs offense capitalize whenever that happened in the capitalized in a big way. That didn't happen this week so we lost the game. It's as simple as that. They lost this game because again. The office didn't answer when the defense did get a stop. Those two turnovers at the end of the game are absolutely killers in their very own. Chief's like mahomes doesn't throw interceptions like that. Clyde hasn't fumbled yet in his career. Those were very uncharacteristic turnovers that happened at the absolute worst possible time if either one of those turnovers does not happen. We're not having this conversation today about the run defense. Nobody cares the ravens. Put up two hundred yards rushing. It doesn't matter if the chiefs do with the chiefs typically do absolutely not at your one hundred percent right and the other part of this is just that in those crucial situations in in those crucial moments On the defensive side of the ball it seemed like every time it was it was kind of crunch time. Baltimore needed to convert. They did they did. And like i said that. That's kind of on the offense for not giving the defense putting the defense in great position towards the end of that game. You gotta give them more time to get rest. You gotta give them you know. The defense held them on that last drive even after the club. Bumble put them in a fourth down in one spot. And maybe we can talk about that now because man that that defensive play call in that fourth one how they were set up at least. And we've we've been kind of looking through this morning. Stags how they were lined up just not in their biggest favor at all. I have been neiman as as the lone backer off the ball. They have anthony hitchens off the edge on the other side of the run. They have chris. Jones jarran reed all chronic crashing to one side when the runs go on the other side and and it was kind of set up. That looked like the run was supposed to go to that side so it the run defense in general was not the reason they lost this game but in those crucial moments in those big play moments you have to. You do have to make the plays and that is one discouraging thing that it seemed like any time baltimore needed to make a big play they did and and that is the one thing where you do in the run defense on that point but just overall i just don't think it was the the true You know ended the game or whatever. Yeah that third point that every biggest play the game went baltimore's way it was. It was almost comical the way the broadcasters would say this is the biggest play the game and then immediately baltimore would would convert or they would take advantage so it was. It was on When baltimore off baltimore's on defense. I counted three or four separate times that where it was the biggest play of the game and every one of them went baltimore's way. Yeah no you can't have that and that's the that's the. That's the thing with this defenses. We've never needed them to be a team that completely shut out on offense. We've never needed them to be defense. That just you know completely dominates an offense and doesn't let them score. They've needed just make plays when they when when the player presented to him and and that is that is pretty discouraging that they were not able to really ever make those plays in this game like i said they got to afford down that last possession but you still need to finish that drive and you knew they were going to go for nine. Four th and one. They just weren't able to get it done. The defense may play early in the game. Obviously tire matthews couple couple interceptions but yeah towards the end of this game defense just and they're probably tired because we mentioned the offense just did not give them a lot of rest zanu game so i tweeted out after the game as i was thinking through what i just saw trying to process this one of the things. That frustrated me was when you look back to this game. I think the chiefs are going to regret the fact that when the game was on the line when they needed a play on baltimore side. They did exactly what they do best and they gave the ball with all confidence to their quarterback and and and he won the game for him on the chiefs side. The yes the not that they don't have confidence in homes but it's frustrating to see a like this happen when mahomes does what he's supposed to do. The game slips away opportunities where the ball's in somebody else's hands and so it was really frustrating to see the chiefs. Offense is at its best when the balsam mahomes in his hand and he's throwing the ball of who's running the ball. He's making the decision. He is forcing the defense into bad situations. He's making something happen when something needs to happen. As this game wild on you can see. I mention that each time. The defense gotta stop the chiefs. Offense was not able to convert in almost every one of.

"Just looks more stout this year like he was a stout young man before but he is a solid of a human. The is his immovable. Right now and i think you saw with talk of charleston that yeah they. They've love their depth. The you don't move on from a guy with upside. I charleston has unless you feel bad about your tim warts or you feel great about your mind. Damase your turk warton's you know i mean now. This is the deepest is the deepest offensive line. That i've can remember it a long time. I mean maybe going. Back to jared allen. I mean really like this. We haven't seen dad like this on a really long time as fans it's a credit to brett beach and their scouting department and their talent evaluators that they've got death there that we just didn't i see like i. It just something that you know. In the media. Writers beat writers reporters whatever that was a question mark headed into in for all of us. I think outside of chris jones really. Because it's perfectly reasonable to have question marks about frank clark headed into the ear. We all know chris. Jones is a superstar. But it was. What else do you got. And jarran reed has shown that he can be a impact player at the nfl level during his time with the seattle seahawks. But he's kind of a run guy like he's not really. He does have ten tax season under his belt. But he's generally been a more of a run stuff type of player. It's just really impressive. Yeah we didn't even mention josh canedo. And yeah the play that he made tonight like. I just think that you have to come out of this. Preseason thinking that the most impressive part of this chiefs team is not the offense. It's not the offensive line. It's the defensive fly. I would make the argument. The second most impressive part is the secondary like not what i expected in any way coming into this thing and getting ready for the regular season because the secondary has been impressive in itself to. And there's still question marks there. We're we're still figuring things out with one thornhill like why is want thornhill not are starting safety and this point over a guy like daniel sorensen when we've seen we saw last week. The insanely athletic interception that he made like. That's what we think. One thornhill is capable of and he was still getting a lot of snaps with the second team tonight We still don't know exactly what's going on there. Steve stragglers book a little bit this week about it was our goal to just get him snaps and get him involved and tried to get him back to where the point where we thought he was as a rookie and that was kind of the goal of the preseason all i certainly did that they got him snaps but we'd obviously like to see him be bigger contributor and be a starter at some point because that's what we thought he was going to be eventually and the secondary which area snead looks like. He's gonna be a superstar. I'm not even. I'm not trying to be like a chiefs homer diehard or anything like that. It's just. I pay attention to every team in the nfl. I watch every team in the nfl. At every opportunity. That i can get and when you watch this team even in the preseason. You're just like all right. There's just something different about this team. The what. I'm seeing when i watch other teams in the end the pres. Yeah i mean there's one thing you can usually bank on cheeses that they're going to believe at some point and other teams replant from behind and if the chiefs past defense plays like did tonight throughout the season they're going to be really hard team to beat because the other teams are ambient in past. You'll have to pass the ball over and over and over again to try to catch up in luxurious. Need wakes in your hip pocket like he was rolls out of bed in the morning. And he's on your hip like you go to work and he's just right there but he just does not leave your hip eat. He is a superstar. Yeah and We see a ton of you guys commenting. It was everything that you could have hoped for and half a quarter of action from your starting kansas city chiefs offense mccoll hartman did can even out the snaps a little bit more with demarcus robinson tonight. And so. that's what you wanna see right because we know demarcus robinson is we ease. He can make plays here and there but he's kind of inconsistent player and kind of always has been for this team Dave told even mentioned earlier this week that he drives him nuts as a return man and the mark. And i don't believe is like a special player or anything like that. But this season you had to see michael hardman outset demarcus robinson and take that role over in the offense and we saw a little bit of that tonight enough of it. Anthony hitchens with the sack. Jarran reed even the depth players in linebacker darius harris and dicaprio budel getting in on the mix. He doesn't say that it has to be defensive. Lineman that can get involved with sack nation and now that's that's ten sack preseason. I've said it now. Three times on this podcast. But i just think if your defensive line is cooking we always get on bread. Vh about maybe not. Investing premium picks that the chiefs make themselves in the cornerback room. But if you have a solid cornerback room and it does look like that. Which are various ward and luxurious need. And mike who's actually really playing well and you have a defensive line that has led by christians who we had mentioned. Looks like an absolute monster. Is that like. I think what you have in. The interior is more than fine. And i made the mistake of saying the word find. That's on me. I no issues with them going out. And signing by the way bringing in. Melvin ingram or olivier vernon. Those guys can help you like whether chris jones on the interior on the outside wherever he ends up being. You still need help right now. A defense event. And i think that's totally fair to say that I think what they're doing is more about the run than a pass. I think the chiefs have noticed that their run defense flat out has stunk for the last like three four five years. Now in if you're going to get better there at the best way to do. That is by moving chris jones to the outside having jarran reed and derek nadi playing in the interior on running downs. Like first and ten second three those sorts of downs. You're gonna see chris jones. that's when he's going to be playing outside. That's also when you're going to be seeing anthony. Hitchens and mick bolton on the field. I think they're just going bigger. They wanna get more bulk out there to be able to prevent teams from running all over them. Which has been a huge huge issue for many years now and i think that's the biggest thing i think on passing downs third and seven Second fifteen those sorts of situations. I think you're gonna see chris. Jones bump back inside because they know that's where he's at his best when it comes to his pass rush presence. I don't expect to see him out there a whole lot on those situations. I think it's going to be very specific in the way that they utilize them. And i think they're gonna utilize them as a weapon similar to what you see them. Offensively utilizing mccoll hardman. Wear a one time. He's going to be in the slot. Maybe he lines up in the backfield and then ends up. Kinda motioning out. Does that that orbit motion like you're going to see him all over the place. I think that's gonna be what they do with chris jones on the defensive line and i think it's perfectly valid to be concerned about. Christians are moving outside. I have questions about whether or not. He is truly athletic. Enough to like ben the edge and go up against some of those best tackles in the nfl. But adding melvin. Ingram doesn't change the situation in any way. You're you're still expecting frank clark to likely be suspended in some way so even if it's for the first four games of the season or whatever you're probably going to see him bounce outside a little bit and i just kind of to see what happens. It's early in the years. So i want to experiment. I want them to play round because their pass rush was a problem last year. It was an issue. So they're run. Defense has been issued for several years. But let's not act. Like last year with chris jones on the interior he went for like twenty sacks or something like that they had issues getting pressure. And that wasn't chris jones fault. That was frank clark's fault and they still haven't addressed that. They're still banking on frank clark being productive and hopefully they do bring in veteran guy but i wanna see how that all fits together at maybe it's taco charlton. I don't know but they still have plenty of question. Marks there no. I'm not saying. They don't have question marks. But i mean if you bring in a guy. A veteran like me melvin. Ingram is the one that has been talked about the most cheap circles. I think it definitely changes it. I mean you. You have a veteran. I think a guy out there that you trust that can play that role out there right. Now you're sitting here with taco charlton and mike dana. Like i mean right now like there is no. You can't feel great about that. And i feel like a bit of that makes you feel forced to kick him outside. I think that was a really nice point that you may be k. About this is about the run but this ninety four anymore. So what they're gonna do. They see those off those four linemen out there and they see oh derek. Nadi in june read and chris jones on the outside. But they're gonna throw they're gonna to teams are going to throw mega. They're going to change the way as you said. I believe you all said that that. That kid is the top three quarterback and all of the league doesn't herbert heston herbert for the chargers whenever they play him talking about. Because you referenced. Top three quarterback. That's not on the chiefs atop two quarterback in the league. You guys believe is better than aaron rodgers right now flow herbert justin herbert justin herbert. He gets it games and he sees that front. They're going to throw justin gobert. Yeah they're gonna throw. And i don't believe that they believe that. I do not believe that they just want to say that before. People get confused. Show that just in herbert's atop to quarterback. I don't believe that. But he said he was better have been mahomes but they're but they're but they're gonna throw teams are going to to throw against those fronts. And so like i don't think i don't think the chiefs are going to be able to dictate like all right. Yeah these and unless they really get them in obvious third down situations i think teams are going to throw whenever they see that front against against the chiefs and i just i thought about it and i understand the thought of all right. Let's let's play around with it may chris. Jones is really into what he wants to do it and he wants to play on the outside. Put now that dude is great right there. That dude is great on the inside. And i know he didn't have twenty six last year. But but that's that's where he can be dominant. I just i i don't want to. I don't wanna just hurt two spots. And i think there is a real potential would do in that with chris jones and moving them on the outside you might i just. I continue to think that. Mike my kind of final assessment of the situation as we are here on july ninth. I don't think it hurts anything to try it for a few weeks in the regular season if it fails if you get into mid october and you're seeing what you're talking about right now we're on and teams are throwing on you on those running downs and you're not able to dictate anything and you're losing out on pass rush because you don't have chris jones out there honestly right around the time when frank clark..

"Was the chiefs biggest improvement from a position. Sandpoint this offseason. It's gotta be defensive line right. Just based on jarran reed. I mean sharon reed completes as defensive line rotation by being a guy that can play all three downs. I think that's one thing. And i went back on my top twenty as one thing. That's really valuable about read. Is you can trust him in early. Down to be a run defender but also just be a very effective passer sean down and they don't really have a lot of situation guys. That are one or the other. They're either good run defenders or good pass rushers but not both and you know. Frank clark is one guy. That's that's kind of both but even he isn't as effective as a pass. Rusher in and chris jones is is one that even in his run defense. Sometimes you can kind get too high and get washed out of the. So i think read is is very valuable piece and someone that gives them a lot more wiggle room with their their depth on their defense line. Guys like naughty inter sean. Warton aren't relied upon as much. They're good rotational players. Now instead of being you know a bear relied upon a starter. So i think it's got to be defensive line. Do you have another one. Will you just a follow up question to that. You're thinking about defensive line. Sounds like you're talking a lot about the interior defensive line because they've lost some pieces on the outside without a real obvious replacement so you know there's some shuffling around obviously jones moving inside the outside you know maybe that offset some of it. But there's still some question marks on that defensive line especially with the the depth that the edge position are you sure. It's that much improved over last year. Yeah not too good. That's a good point. I do think the return of taco charleston definitely helps in that respect. I think last year there were missing guy they could throw in and get some edge Pressure i know alex for kind of help them in that sense but you know he wasn't as effective he wasn't you know he's. He's a veteran kind of older guy that that had some some glances of good play especially on he. He was very good in super bowl. Run i think last year kind of take a step back a little bit. I think talk returned to the fold helps For sure but also think a second year might dana. I think dana's just a reliable edge the vendor that that gives you a lot. He's a high motor guy high effort guy's gonna play really hard when he's in there and he's good run-defender i know he's a smaller guy. More rest out guy than than a lengthy guy. But i've seen good stuff from the run defense for him. So i i do think Charleston and the second year of dana helps and then just the addition of read allowing jones to play more outside. That helps as well. I think overall that read signing really boosts the ceiling that this defensive line can play out in two thousand twenty one a fair and. I'm not sure. I can disagree with that. I was thinking of some other positions on offense that may be improved because the offensive line is improved. That might be cheating a little bit because the personnel elsewhere hasn't necessarily improved that much but the offense of lines gonna make them look better. Maybe can say tight end. Just because they have not had anything at the number two tight end spot. I think bringing blake bell back and then drafting Noah grey makes it more interesting room and a potentially better room. But you know there's there's a lot of unknown still hopefully they'll hash a lot of that out as they get to saint joe and we'll see some some remarkable improvements in other areas l. Let's move on to this question. What i think is interesting from tex-mex guy at tex-mex guy on twitter over under twenty two sacks allowed speaking of the improved offensive line ron twenty two sacks. Is that a. Is that a good over under it is actually i like. He must've done a little research. Because if you look at the sax that they've given up in the mahomes era so last year they gave up twenty four total sacks two thousand nineteen they gave up twenty five total sacks and in the first year mahomes he took out. They gave up twenty six so it isn't that range and then when you compare it to the alex smith there just for just for kicks two thousand seventeen they gave up thirty seven sacks so mahomes this one thing about this as mahomes is does a really good job of avoiding sack you know whether it's scrambling out of the way or getting rid of the ball before he does get hit or just getting the ball out of his hands quicker than a guy like alex smith to. Sometimes if it wasn't very kind of just you know crunch up you know grab up. Roll up and get sacked. So i think it's a good number because if we are talking about dolphins line improving you got to imagine they get a better number than twenty four sacks last year along with mahomes being a better you know another year of experience another year of understanding how to get out of sacks and all that kind of thing so i think it's i think it's a good number i'll go under i i really am. I also think the the ability to run more and run better more effectively. This year will help with this number as well. So i'm gonna go under again. Maybe it's a cop out. But i'll go with the push at twenty two. Oh so because. I definitely improved on the offensive line. Definitely you know. Have the ability of mahomes to escape some saks. You're going to have some growing pains here and there. The ceremony throwing the ball a fair amount. So i don't know how low you can get that number any idea where twenty two sacks ranked last year in the. Nfl would have been. It would have been one of the highest or lowest. I mean yeah. One of the lowest totals. Yeah so i think there's a fifth in the league with the twenty four sacks so okay so yeah twenty two good low number. I think it's a good target to be a little bit improved over last year but still realistic enough that that i think it works..

I don't want to spend too much time on it. It's hard for me to even explain everything that is possibly gone wrong in the last day to make sure that this podcast was going to be late and that ron was not going to be able to be a part of it so this is the best we were able to do for you guys in. It ended up being down a house. So we've got a good show for you. Guys did our to talk about the pro. Football focus stop fifty. Patrick mahomes game in the top. Two will tell you where he was at. And i think started as interesting thoughts on the. Tom brady comments that you heard earlier this week. And how they might apply to. Patrick mahomes but we have to start with frank clark who was arrested in los angeles now. It sounds like it's happened. Twice this off season. He was pulled over for vehicle. Violation ended up founded uzi in his car. Which is against the law out in california. I'm not much interested in people's thoughts on gun laws in california. Let's talk about what this means for the chiefs. Though because he has now been arrested twice in one off season you have to look back. Twenty fourteen Had the incident at the university of michigan as well. This is a problem for the chiefs. Because i would imagine he probably going to be suspended. I don't know how long it's going to be. Maybe it's true games. Maybe as four. Maybe at six however long it's going to be the chiefs are likely going to be without at a minimum their second best defensive end and certa i think my biggest takeaway from this is chris. Jones just became that much more important at defensive because of him and it's hard to even say he's proven adt defensive end. They have nobody that is proven at that position. I mean the next closest thing. Maybe mike danna who had a decent season for you last year. There's just not a lot of proven commodities that gps are going to be able to rely on going into the season here frank. Clark estimates extended period of time and their pass rushing defensive line was Or at least the defensive end was already kind of a question mark headed into the season and we were kind of expecting them to maybe add some depth there and they didn't really do it I know they've got a rookie guy but he was he he's kind of a project Turk warton's a guy that you can maybe move around a little bit but he's mostly in interior guy like there's reason to be worried about the chiefs pass rush headed into this season. Because i didn't chris jones is a special player. I think jarran reed is a good player but it doesn't seem like they've got a ton of athletes on the outside and that's an issue for a team that's trying to get to another super bowl. Yeah the bendy edge. Rusher see around the league that everybody is envious of the chiefs. Have none of them. None of them even when. Frank clark's out there. He's more of a power rusher. He's a guy that's gonna win with his bowl rush more than anything else. They don't have that bendy guy and that's kind of spags. System type of a thing was looking for bigger more powerful defensive events but when you get into a situation like this and you're basically having to go okay early downs late downs. Who are pass. rushers i legitimately. Don't know the answer to that question right now. Going into the season. Like if it's third and seven in the first game of the year going up against the cleveland. Browns and frank clark's unavailable. Who are the four guys. You're putting out there on the defensive line right now you can see a lot of been neiman coming from the outside this year as much as everybody wants. Ben neiman gone. We're going to see we're going to see him. And willie gay on the field. And ben nevis just going to be kept strictly a pass. Rusher know.

"Coming back After his opt out season some people were starting to question whether he was coming back or not because he hadn't been there for some voluntary workouts for hud's raising his hand. Say he was me. Will now that lbj t is back. How does that affect the competition at right guard. Do you think there is a competition to see is just gonna jump right back into the first team reps or trey smith have something to say about it even at this point career. Oh absolutely the chiefs are hyping and hyping him up enough for where we have to consider trey smith now and they keep talking about and we keep hearing his name. I mean andy heck saying that. He's he basically sounded very confident that he'd be a starter at some point in his career. Just you know he has some stuff to work on but he just flat out said you know he doesn't he doesn't need to say that at this point you know. He doesn't need to hype them up like that publicly so i think it's absolutely a competition. Elliot does have a good chance. So you know it's it's important no system and he's a smart dude. Obviously so that's really going to give them an advantage. In and trae is is rob prospect and it that there were reasons he drops to the sixth round. Not just because of you know the medical. That's the main part of it. Obviously but he's a raw player and you know he wasn't nfl. Ready maybe a write up the gate But we'll see we'll see trying to competition that she's been able to get away with putting guards not experienced guards. you know. maybe you know a more. You don't wanna call. It transmits off the street. But just you anyone in there and being able to make it work so maybe throwing some with raw power in their raw talent could could be worked with you know experienced at the rest of the positions. I think the challenge with trae smith and college at least appear to be consistency. He had the highlight reel plays the high high is a major believe he's a future all pro and then he had some other place where you're wondering what he was doing and or wondering if he knew what he was doing and so they'll be a learning curve for him. L. d. t. I think you know what you have in that player. He's been there long enough in the system. He's had some really good years years getting paid. He's had a couple of years that maybe weren't so impressive. Where were talking about finding a replacement for him. So is it just the two main competition at this point or do we think any of these other guys might factor in awesome bligh. You know Andrew wylie. There's another number of other bodies that could theoretically be thrown at right guard position. Even lucas neang. What do you think is a two main competition or is it. is it a five or six main competition. Yeah allah grady Allegany is another one to consider to You know he did start at left guard all last year. So that's that's something you know. Hey his starting experience even it's not the same position with someone else we have to consider. Lucas neang maybe Getting more guard play if if they do wanna be in one of the situations where they're putting their best five up and they do want to get bigger and they think remers a solid right tackle You know maybe they do say hey we know you're you're the future at right tackle. Let's get you playing now. Let's get your body in there. Let's get you at right guard. So that's another one to consider you know I it is truly open. Competition and brave each did call Neang a guard possibility last offseason right after they drafted him. I know the situation was different last year on the line. Because you know yet eric fisher mitchell schwartz. He wasn't playing tackle for you. But yeah it. It's it's interesting and it will definitely be one of the best competitions at training camp to watch To follow. well let's six names. I think you just listed as possibility right if you re factoring in you know kneeing and Allegri so i. I honestly think it's a two person competition there and everybody else is going to be scrambling for death spots along the line. I really do think they're going to do everything can to make it a competition between smith and lt. Yeah with l. d. Ldc having the contract know that he has the incentive to make it work there with smith you know an on such a cheap deal having such the upside that he has they might wanna bring him along a little bit more slowly and let long-term answer there. Let lt play out this year. Smith be the long-term answer maybe count alarm doesn't make the roster his you know his health isn't right and they don't see a spot for him so there's a lot of different ways this thing can go whether a competition or wider competition. I it brings us to some other comments. That i saw one was jarran reed commenting about your his role in the defense and how things were going so far. He went out of his way to praise. Maybe we're not talking about enough in that rotation in turk- warden and is that an underrated player is under the radar guide. That you're we're all excited about drawn. Read with chris jones and frank clark all at the same time you know or or drawn read with derek ninety on running downs but warton might be that extra rotational interior pass rusher. That makes us thing really really go. Yeah when you see a guy come out like he did his rookie year. I think everyone he is. He is on everyone's radar. He's not as if you're achieved saying you know if you're watching the chiefs every week you know tershawn wharton is now. And that's pretty impressive for an undrafted free agent rookie from i believe it was missouri. Sat down in raleigh missouri shadow. If anyone's from there. So yeah.
