"Haven't shown their cards yet on what they're gonna do, T j right in the draft. We don't know if they're going to draft a quarterback and then moved Arnold or whatever. But the only thing I'd only reason I think that the Colts I'm surprised that a culture fan would say that is because off Carson Wentz is, uh, right and the sick and the success that he had You know what I mean to me, Like like there's something there. If you want to talk about your brother, take Sam Donald. We've never really seen Sam Donald play well in the NFL. Not really consistently, and I don't know how much of that was the coaching. TJ and you know on how bad the Jets were in this scheme and what was going on there, But we did see Carson Wentz play well, at one point right? Is that a difference between the two Yes, but with all due respect to the Jets When you look at their skill players Name We want. Just give me one off the top of your head that could start on any other team. That's the problem. I can. Yeah, don't have we today. We we don't. We don't know. You like them doing? All right, do I? I do like Sam. I like him a lot. He's a great athlete. He can really throw the ball, but he just hasn't had the weapons around him. Now That's what I will say. But If the Colts don't want to give up a one for Carson Winston there, Damn sure not going to give up one for Sam d'Arnaud, who hasn't had the same type of success. And so it might be a moot point. To be honest with you. Now, if if I'm the Jets, and I'm gonna keep sound, Arnold Try to move off that Pick that second pick. Give it to someone that wants a quarterback and hopefully stay within the top 12 because I can still get one of the top receivers whom they need very bad. Yes, and the Jets have of armed. They got to know a lot of picks coming up, right? Don't they have picks and their prime position trait that second pick, get more draft capital and you can still get your receiver Now you're set for years to come because you have sold many high picture just can't miss. No, I agree with you. It's gonna be interesting to see how it does play out and just decide. No. You know this. We saw that with Jared Golf look like a bust right with the Rams originally. And then all of a sudden I'm Sean McVeigh to the right. Exactly. And all of a sudden that change and he got him to a Super Bowl. Now I know we In the last year, so regressed, But they did get to the Super Bowl with with Jared Goff, so we'll see what happens. All right, coming up. Next on the Dan Patrick show, we will talk with former NFL head coach who Jackson, who break down a number of topics we've been talking about NFL wise will do that. Rob Parker, TJ Houshmandzadeh filling in for Dan Patrick and the damn Nets. Right here on Fox Sports Radio. "You're on ESPN radio team and number. Wait. What part of California ask you would ask right for everybody from California, part of California. Okay. All right. So on Leandro, California got my brother all right team and number. A lot of show love you guys party thing that they, my brothers from Detroit. My team is the Detroit Lions, and I'm a growing number three. Tell us where human beings because, um, two years ago. Jerry Golf took the ranch to the Super Bowl. And I think he's gonna have something to prove next year, especially because of the whole situation and l A. You know they didn't have state than them, so I think this year he's going to come out with a chip on his shoulder. And he's going to surprise. A lot of people saw him going Number three Where my dick sightlines, great girl, but I'm gonna ask you this being the Detroit guy. He shouted it out being the Detroit guy. This is something I've thought about. Great call, and the number I think is right on the mark. After all. You just got a new quarterback. It can't be that high. So Jared Golf four years with the Rams. We talked about this when Kay and Jay have been here four years of the Rams. Three playoffs. One Super Bowl appearance. People are acting like that doesn't mean anything that wasn't anything and thank goodness matched Africa's here because he's going to be able to do better than that. Just let that sink in. Jared Goff. 26 3 playoffs four years, one Super Bowl. Oh, by the way, after a terrible start understanding McVeigh groomed him. Are you Do people realistically think Matt Stafford's going to be that much better than that? I mean, I think Matthew Stafford is in the running for being the M V. P. Matthew Stafford has been one of the best quarterbacks that nobody has talked about. It's like watching a great player. I don't know who would be the equivalent J Wheezy and the MBA of a great player stuck in a bad situation. You know, with the organization that just can't get right. I mean, they hired a coach. We talk about Airbnb me not being able to interview right. You talk about a coach that it is opening press guy that was talking about eating kneecaps and eating Achilles. All right about that. He talked about getting knocked out like, bro. How many times you get knocked down glass? Joe? How about we're not gonna get knocked down, but we're gonna put forward and knock you down. I mean, I don't wanna get knocked down 20 times, and there's a okay Your fist is tired of hitting my damn face. Listen, I've been part of been a lions fan my entire life. There's been the most disappointing thing. You know, My father never has a great Thanksgiving because they always lose. But they continue to put him on damn TV because some type of contract they want. They want a really embarrassed to the city of Detroit. I think you think about it. Jared Golf is a guy that was getting the answers to the test from invade a boy genius, A boy wonder, and he still wasn't able to get him to the promised land. He was a passenger on those teams. He wasn't driving the car. He was just hold on to the stairwell. It's a son. Please don't crash and listen. We were talking about him come into this league. In a quarterback competition with war furred. So I mean, if you're bombing Detroit, you think I'm excited about Jared Goff coming thinking that he's going to be to compete with Aaron Rodgers and that division? No way. I'm concerned. No, but I was out. Your analogy for the basket player is kind of like Bradley Bill. Yeah, like Bradley Bill is putting up points. That's what Matthew Stafford has done. He's put up points, all right. It's been on a bad team. Nobody's paying attention to him like they've been decimated by injuries. Both players have but if you would've put Bradley Bill On the Denver Nuggets. Oh, my goodness office on him in your kitchen. Jamal Murray. If you have to give up Michael Porter and assets for that. That's the team that could win the championship. I look at Matthew Stafford almost the same right? Also I wonder about this you been. I wonder about how Jared Golf lead just not on the field. But off the field like it feels like there was something more to that scenario than just how Jared Goff performed on the field, and I feel like Matthew Stafford brings more stability as a leader to this team to get them to where they wanted. I think that's fair. I think there's a little bit of vanity there to everybody Loves Chamakh being everything he's done youngest coach when he was hired in the modern NFL history. But it's Al Powell mentioned you can hear this an hour. One of the podcast. The reality is the Rams had the best defense in the NFL this year, but they're scoring was 18th. And I think if you're Sean McDaid, you made your entire reputation on being innovative and being ahead of the curve. Offensively. It's a little strange when your defense is that good in your offense is that poor? Let's go to Mike in Illinois. You're on ESPN Radio. Mike, What do you have team number Looks like Mike dropped going every carry Some tweets go for that. They're coming in fast and furious for Bart saying that he would Trey Patrick Holmes. For the likes of the Shawn Watson and JJ Watt. Bart Scott is in concussion protocol. Bad Bart Scott from coming on our show for the summer, Bart. They're going in man, but I had took one too many hits. They're being relentless here. But I tell you what, When you look at the talent, I think they're equal that that Z like like that's like moving. Listen, I don't know my homes is LeBron. What I'm saying is, it's a talent wise. It's an even swap. That's all I'm saying. So if you Look at what the sound Watson did this year is not crazy. And guess what, you need more help on defense because I said, if anybody ever listen to me, which I know they don't I said that that defense was going to get exposed because the only thing that protects that defense of sorts is the fact that the offense puts so much pressure on the other team. Yes, it's coming off the fact that you know people are blowing this out of proportion that Hey, we're looking to trade an M v p Super Bowl champion the guy that could have been back to back Super Bowl champion because it's old line was decimated, and he ran for close to damn near 500 yards, And they built a scheme by Todd Bowles. Which is incredible. You know, too over the top part, you know about this that takes time and he'll play too, man. Their blitz it from both sides. It's I don't understand how we come to this conclusion after one and I know was the Super Bowl, and there was a huge before the memory is gonna get surgery on this told them. What else do you need Patrick Mahomes to do in this situation. What can I say this in all seriousness. I think this This loss and it's a lot to the goal early in his career. Is the best thing that happened to Patrick my home. This is gonna throw a few him for the rest of his career. He's going to be great because of it. We watch. We watch early on a great champion Canelo Alvarez lose to Mayweather. He hasn't lost since because he learned the lessons from watching a goat. And sometimes you need a little pain to bear to push you through some things and learn how to be a leader Because he's going to go back. He's gonna analyze everything that he did. That contributed to the loss. He's going to be better for it sometimes things and go to well too early and you and you don't really have that drive because you think it's too easy. He's hit this first bump in the road, and I think with the character of what Patrick my homes is that he's gonna come back better than ever, and the league should watch out. If there's anything that should motivate Patrick Holmes, there are so many pictures Bart on the Internet. Of Tom Brady carrying Patrick the homes on his shoulders like Patrick Holmes is the little kid or the other picture. Tom Brady and Giselle with this family and you got you got a Ron Aaron Rodgers head Drew Brees, his head, and then Patrick Mahomes had on the three little kids. I mean, there's anything I say, motivate you..

"Talking tough with Tiki and Tierney I think with Matt LeFlore didn't do was think about that specific scenario. What happens if we score? What happens if we kick the field goal? It's obviously a much easier proposition to try to go score and stop Tom Brady from getting in scoring position than it is to kick the field goal and stop Tom Brady for him simply getting a 1st 1st down. "But it may not be considered the big story line because how many times that people like to hear about the offensive line play, and sometimes it is pedestrian When you talk about offensive and defensive lineman, But as you know it, and I know it When we go through all the cliches, the game is won in the battle of the trenches. I think that's going to be could be a significant point in this game of Kansas City, and their offensive line can be good to go. Come Sunday with the changes all right before we get to the big story line from over the weekend. I'll give you the guest list today. Pro Football Hall of Famer Deon Sanders will join us Coming up in about 30 minutes and then at 7:20 P.m. eastern will be joined by a rookie from Washington's football team and a very successful season. Antonio Gibson at 11 Total touchdowns. 7 40. PM Eastern Pro Football Hall of Famer Super Bowl champion. The bus is going to make a stop on the Zach Gil Show. Jerome Bettis at 8:20 P.m. eastern 5, 20. PM Pacific. The goal. No, not Brady. Jerry Rice is going to join us. Now there's different levels of goats. Yet the quarterback coach, you have a wide receiver goat. You got a bunch of different boats all around. But one of the goats and Jerry Rice, the greatest wide receiver of all time will join us at 8:20 P.m. eastern 5. 20 PM Pacific, then at 9 P.m. Eastern six Pacific Command that will be playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday from the Kansas City. How about those shoes line back to Damian Wilson will stop by, and then we'll end the show out in style. No closing bell. Today we will end the show out, though. With an artist that I love. And when I was a little kid, I would sing that song. It wasn't me yet. You never know who's stopping by during Super Bowl Week. Shaggy is going to join us on the Zach killed show. All right, let's start things off with the big trade that happened over the weekend. And if you listen to the show last week, you know it, and I knew it that the Rams did not want Jared Golf on the roster start the 2021 season, but the big question was Where they going to be able to move that contract now full disclosure. I thought golf is going to be on the roster, not because the Rams wanted him because I didn't think the Rams were going to be able to move that contract. Now, with that being said, We did float out the scenario the one way you can move around that golf contract. As if you gave up something with them. Kind of like when Sam thank you's with the Sixers screaming, trust the process they would take on bad contracts. As long as you sent a favorable draft pick of first round draft pick to them so McVeigh Les Snead, They said, everything they could. Golf is our quarterback in this moment. Translation. We're trying everything we can to get him off the roster this year because we don't trust him. So they found the Detroit lines They like Matthew Stafford. They got Matthew Stafford. All right. I think that's enough grade. Is it a tremendous upgrade? I wouldn't say it's tremendous, but I do have more confidence with Matthew Stafford compared to Jared Golf and hey, I like Matthew Stafford don't love Matthew Stafford. But I do like him and he's a better quarterback. Then Jared Goff, and it's nice that he'll be put in a winning environment with the good defense with the run game, and I know he's had some good wide receivers in Detroit. But you got to wide good wide receivers now with the Rams and Cooper Cup, and also Robert Woods, now on the return. I think you have to look at this as two deals. Two deals inside one deal. Because I didn't think Matthew Stafford was going to get traded for two first round picks and a third round pick. But in essence, when you look at the totality of the deal, that is what happened, But if you really break it down, Stafford really got traded for a first and a third and then the other deal, even though it's presented as one deal was okay. You want Jared Golf? We'll give you or can you take Jared Goff from us, and we'll give you a first round pick in that. Because Stafford If golf wasn't in the deal, the Rams would not have had to send two number one picks. There was a healthy market for Stafford. You hear the teams the Panthers Washington football team supposedly didn't want to play for the Patriots. But you know the teams that were interested the fact that he went for two first round picks. I don't think we just look at and say, Wow, some team traded two first round picks, or Stafford. They got Stafford the Rams. They had to get rid of golf, so they sank off with that contract to the Lions with an additional first round pick, and I know summer saying, Wow, the lines could have got a better deal Could've got earlier pick this year. I'm fine. That's a team that's rebuilding it. It's gonna take a long time to rebuild. You probably go on a three year plan even though we got a six year contract and Dan Campbell year ones awash here, too. You got to see improvement. Your number three You got to start moving in the playoff direction for the Detroit Lions. So for him to take a first round pick in 2022 2023. The Rams don't have a first round pick gone back to go off and going back to Randy All that stuff. They want a first round pick through the 2024 Jeff until the 2024 draft. So I don't have like when you look at it. Don't really have a problem in what the Lions did. I think the lines made out well for themselves because you get the two first round picks. You get a third round pick and they may not be prime. They may not be premium first round picks, but you want to accumulate assets here because you never know If you want to move up. Those assets can be very valuable. Take it on Gulf. I don't hate it. I don't believe in Jared Goff. I don't think off is an awful quarterback. I don't think he's a great quarterback. I don't think he's a good quarterback. I think he's been a quarterback that has his ups and downs. Sometimes he looks like that franchise quarterback number one overall pick, but that thought does not stay along. It evaporates quickly, and then you go on this roller coaster ride of good bad. Good, bad. Good, bad, bad, bad good. So to take on golf of you, the Lions It's all right. You see what you got for a little bit if he doesn't develop, And if he doesn't take that next step, then you eventually get rid of him. Whenever that contract does run up, or you're part ways before that in your draft your quarterback of the future now for the Rams, they're going all in. They are, and that's an NSC. It's open. Next year. We don't know what the same thing to look like. Brady will be a year older, the NFC East. You don't feel good about any of those teams and you look at the West. The rands are damn good football team. The 40. Niners should be back in the picture. The Seahawks have inconsistencies on both sides of the ball. And then you got the Green Bay Packers who have made it clear that Aaron Rodgers not just here for next year. They're hoping that he's there for years and years to come. Even with drafting Jordan Love that You've heard a different tone today from the head football coach Battle Foreign, also the GM and Brian Gouda kun. So For the Rams. They basically telling you we wanted a new quarterback so bad we're giving away two first round picks and a third round pick. And you better hope that Stafford stays healthy because two years ago he was hurt, then played this year. And battle through this season with not that good of a football team, So I think it's enough grade. Yes, but when you give up that much draft capital you better walk away with the Super Bowl. The rands were close. They were they were in Super Bowl 53. Off was a big problem in that game. Now, can you get back? You lose Brandon Staley, but that defense should be good. And you got about 2 to 3 year window with the quarterback that will turn 33 soon and that the Stafford to go get get a ring, so ultimately I do think it's a win win all around like you can contest and you can argue about what the lions or to me what the rands gave up and only think there's much of an argument with lines did. But for the Rams, you could contest doesn't make it that much better. I do think it makes you better, but we'll see how much better and we'll see if McVeigh could get that first Super Bowl ring so overall usually don't have a win. Win trade usually have that reaction. Wow. This team won the trade. That team lost the trade. I do believe that this trade Does benefit both sides and if you're going for it sometimes because of the bad drafting, admitted mistake of golf. You got to give up something to get rid of something, and also you got to give up something to get something and the Rams had to do it on both sides of the fence there, so loaded show today. Deon Sanders, Antonio Gibson, Jerome Bettis, Jerry Rice. Damian Wilson and Shaggy will stop Bible break when we come on back on the other side, What does the Gulf Stafford ran's Lines trade mean for another quarterback that's available to Shawn Watson? We'll get into that. Next. It.

"So the writing was kind of on the wall here Now, I don't think anyone would have predicted this and amount of first rounders that air going from L. A and through Detroit, etcetera. But the writing was on the wall here. In fact, Sean McVeigh said about a week ago or so, yes, you're Jared Goff star quarterback, but not for very long. Take a listen. Shot. Then he did a nice job, Bill. I thought he improved on last week. You know, I think you really saw a guy that stepped in and he did what he could. I thought he made some plays. Thought he saw the field well, like I was mentioning, but So we, uh you know, he did a good job today. He's your quarter is your quarterback. He's the quarterback right? And the trails off a little at the end there, But J you catch the drift? Yea, yeah, He's our quarterback right now. Okay, Cool. Thank you shot McVeigh. But I think we all read into that the way we should, as like a woman who's married Who understands? I think men a little bit is their quarterback right now simply said to me. Yes, Today. In this moment, as you asked me that question, and I'm not going to elaborate. He's our quarterback. How does that let me go back? How does that house that frame from a woman's perspective? What do you What do you mean? They're it like me. You always tell me I'm a detective, and I like read very much more musical and I read into things and the minute he said this I was like instantly. Okay, well, he's getting traded energy instantly. Their G M. Les Snead had much of the same when he was asked, And he said, essentially, yeah, as of January, Whatever dating throughout 26. He's our quarterback, and he was kind of like laughing about. I thought I was like, Wait, disrespectful to Jared Golf. Let's go there. Let's hear from less need to listen. Oh, Jared Goff said. He's a ram right? Right now. So what's the day? Okay? Oh, January 26. I mean, that's that's a fact. That's obvious Is your golf Sarandon this moment and I said its way toward speculate. Future That's a beautiful Mr Was way too early to speculate. Well, you just created all kinds of speculation. Okay, let's need so Let's just be clear about that. Yeah, And to me, that's bulletin board material for the future for Jared Golf. This a guy who couple years ago was played good football unleaded team. Maybe he wasn't the reason that they got there. But he wasn't a deterrent of them getting to the Super Bowl and as young as he is, it's an opportunity for a low risk. High reward. For him to go out there and shine and I'm listening to lessening. I'm listening, Chamakh. They basically doubt me and for good reason. Look, Shawn McVeigh tailored this offense to Jared Goff because he was limited. He was strapped in the ability For Jared Golf and wanted to limit his snap decision making and his ability to lessen the turnover account. And all it did was spike. So you've got a coach and Sean McDaid. It's like, Hey, I know how to do this thing with an offense and I'm trying to tell her to this guy he's not helping. And I think once he saw the John Woolford was able to do in a must win situation the last week of the regular season Go out there and do the dang thing. It further let him know that it's knocked off my quarterback, and I'm gonna go get one that I believe is the person and I know we got a lot of show to talk about this. I'm excited, too, because it also means a ton of pressure on Obviously you're new quarterback and Matthew Stafford and his legacy in his ability to do things but also I think it puts you on a clock with Sean with Babe because, he said, This is what's holding us back that quarterback position and this is the guy that's gonna get us over the hump. So now there's no hot seat for Sonic Bay. That's idiotic, but what it does do now in the next few seasons shows. Okay, Now, this is your quarterback. What are you going to do to get us past and returns to a Super Bowl and start playing for the hardware? Yeah, I mean, Shah McVeigh now has Essentially decided they don't want Jared Goff. They don't want Todd Gurley. I mean, we've seen a lot of guys that have really big contracts in L a go a different direction. So yeah, this is going to be a little bit on the head coach now, so Matthew Stafford leads. Detroit is the team's all time leader in every single passing category. Detroit, though, is not one of playoff game since 1991. So what does that mean for Detroit? Now, as they get Jared Goff is their quarterback will discuss next listen to the game day on ESPN Radio and the ESPN app. Tomorrow begins Super.

"Oh, yeah, baby coming in hotter than stock at Gamestop. It is the Vince Quit show. We're back bay. They God, what a night. What a night to be in because you get a trade just a massive monster deal here, where Matthew Stafford is shipped over to the Rams. And man, this happened quick. You see, Dan Campbell comes out head coach the Lions. He's got a quote in an article. He's like, Yeah, the talks are hot and heavy, and it's like what Dan Campbell I have no idea what that really means The guys accountable, but You know, it was hot. It was heavy. So we got this big deal. There's a lot to dissect there. We'll figure out what Dodge Coin is. Maybe we'll just get all the current events in. Here's a fun one for yourself. Oh, this is this is fun. I had my first bris this week. It wasn't for me. It wasn't for me. It's a good thing that it wasn't for you. It wasn't for me. You'd be a little late for me, but I I attended a brisk for the first time. Kind of, you know, now, there might be some listeners out there that don't know what that is. Yes, Google it, But don't do an image search could explain on the air what it is. We'll talk about it. We'll get we'll get their way. Got four little delicate When you explain what that is, You gotta be delicate with the whole thing in general. That's true. Well, maybe it's not so delicate. Um, well, that no, that's delicate. That's why I was horrified. It was It was a trick. Matic experience. Imagine having that done to you at the advanced age. No, I don't know if you do they do that. Does that happen? I don't know. This is over to start the show. Let let us know if you are an adult that has gone through a bris. I don't think they do this. But if you've converted at an older age do they do a bris for an older person. 8552 would 24227. We're off to a great start. Really? Don't wanna think about that. No pictures, please s Oh, let's do this. Is, But let's talk about the deal here right because there's so many different things. When you're talking about quarterbacks getting traded like this. There's so many different elements to these deals to get into for each team. What it means for the league. There's the dish on Watson element, of course. And what does this mean for him? What does his value look like? So? So let's start going through all of the big, confusing, crazy mess that is Matthew Stafford getting swamped. For Jared Golf, and And Here's the first thing that I really take away from this. Is This is a hell of an indictment on Jared Golf. Okay, This is a bad look. Because you have to think of the circumstances around this and for a franchise to give up on a quarterback that's younger. That has gotten them to a Super Bowl. But they did give a big contract to recently. For them to give away this guy and for the way that they did it. Because you look at the package and you might say, Well, Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff. Okay, uh, Stafford's probably better than golf. I don't know if if that's such a great deal, but I want to get rid of that. Jared got fine, but but here's the thing. It's not just Matthew Stafford For Jared Goff. There's a third round pick this year. There's a first round pick from the Rams next year. There's a first round pick from the Rams the year after that. Because the Rams live in some world were first round picks are not valuable or useful or something they're interested in. So they said, Yeah, you know, this is the Dodge Coin. There we go. See, now we're really working it in this the Dodge coin of draft stock, and we're gonna move it. And and that's the thing the Rams had to add all of these draft picks in to get rid of Jared Guff. It's not just throwing all of this in to get Stafford. It's not that Stafford is so overwhelmingly good that he's worth a third end two first round picks, but Jared Goff with his contract is somebody that is not all that valuable. And so you're not just paying for Stafford, your paying the lions to take Jared Goff off of your hands. Which doesn't happen often. We don't see these kinds of deals, especially quarterback in the NFL. The last time this happened was what Brock Osweiler, which not exactly success story, so Looking at Jared Goff here for the Rams to do that. Here's the thing. That guy you think about this. Jared Goff just a couple of weeks ago wasn't like three weeks ago. He wanna play off game against the Seattle Seahawks with a broken thumb. He wasn't even did surgery on it. He wasn't supposed to use the backup in that game. He came in because the backup got hurt in the first couple of plays John Woolford. And God comes in, and he's not supposed to play. But he beat Seattle. They went 30 to 20. It's a nice story. You know, it's it's a big game. It's a big win. So that guy Just a couple of weeks later, they're paying another team to take him off of their hands. So that's a massive indictment. You've also got just the idea that organizations don't like giving up on quarterbacks, even when they're not great. Her cousins was getting towards the end of his deal. Grazed her cousins, right? Is he? Is he an amazing quarterback? Is he? Somebody could move on from? Absolutely you could totally move on from Kirk cousins. Well, Vikings didn't move on from Kirk Cousins. They decided to keep that guy because even if he's not amazing if you're letting a decent quarterback go, you don't always believe that you're gonna be able replace that. But the Rams were like, Yeah, Let's let's just give up everything. Just give up a bunch of stuff. And let's go and get Matthew Stafford. So for Shawn McVeigh, the guy who, you know, offensive mastermind or not, however, you wanna look at him. I think he's a pretty damn good coach. You look at Sean McVeigh and for him to look at golf and the guy that he's been paired with. It's his first head coaching gig. This the first quarterback. He's with its of marriage, right? Oh, what a lovely marriage and then it falls apart pretty quickly, and now he's out of town. That's an indictment. Right, so looking at the value of Jared Goff, and here's the interesting thing it It just seems to confirm what everybody's really felt about Jared Goff, Sometimes there's There's conversations that we have his fans right for people who've watched the game followed the game obsess about the game. And the way we talk about it and look at it is going to be different. Sometimes, then the league than insiders, you know they value the player differently, for whatever reason, they but they might. There might be a disconnect between what we see on the outside of what people see within the lake. This was a pretty strong indictment that we're all on the same page here. Jared Goff. Just isn't that good? And here's the other thing that we'll get to this more a little bit later, but Don't see him getting any better in Detroit. So if your Lions fan and by the way, if you're lions ban a Rams fan like especially it, I'll take calls from anybody If you want to get in to talk about this, But I would love to hear from some lions and Rams fans about this. I mean, how do you feel about these moves? 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 to tie joins show 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 because again the number one thing I've got from this is it's an indictment on Jared Guff, and part of it is, It's not that McVeigh. It's not just that McVeigh's giving up on him that they're doing it as the contract is kicking in that they're paying things. Get rid of him. But also Jared Goff is what the problem is really? And it's weird that it worked out this way. But the problem was the Super Bowl. Jared Goff getting to the Super Bowl and getting crushed the way he did. I mean, how bad was that Super Bowl? Right. That was That was the first time in my life like there's been games where it's been a blowout, and it hasn't been super entertaining. But you had moments and as the score is getting run up like the Seahawks dominated the Broncos like eight years ago, and that was fun for a half. That Super Bowl was awful, and part of it was golf was just shaky. He's up and down. You don't know exactly what you're going to get for a guy that's supposed to be the system quarterback. You want stability. You want consistency. You want reliability. When this guy's going to start you want to go?.

"Goodyear more driven. Earlier we had Michael Rothstein on talking about the Lions point of view is Matt Stafford now joins the L. A Rams. This is from ESPN. NFL insider Adam Schefter, who first reported that the lines will send their long time quarterback to the Rams in exchange for two future first round picks, a third round pick, and quarterback Jared Goff. Now, George Sedano with ESPN. Ella joins us to talk about things from the Ram side, George. Great to hear your voice, man. How are you? I'm great. Hope you were well. And you and yours are all safe. Yuhas well, and certainly we have to talk about this trade. Matt Stafford. That era ends in Detroit and the golf era ends with the Rams as well. Your initial impressions when you heard this trade Not surprised Les need. I'm sure everyone's heard the press conference he had earlier this week about not really committing to Jared Goff saying he's a ran for now. That's certainly got people's attention, and we had less on our radio show My afternoon drive show on ESPN Los Angeles. That same day, and we pressed him and It seemed fairly evident at that point that Jared Golf was no longer going to be a ram. And I'm not really surprised. I mean, you can go back further than just that press conference. Really? If you look at short, Big day, Historically, he never runs his players under the bus. Never never calls them out publicly. You know, his relationship with them is so great in that locker room because he never does that. And after the Miami did this season, the Rams went to Miami. They had a bunch of turnovers. Jared fumbled the ball. He threw a ton of interceptions. It was the first time in all the years that I've covered Sean McDonough. Where he legitimately said This guy is the reason we lost. And at that point I'm like, Oh, there is trouble in the waters here for sure. So He had multiple games like that. Sean came on our show during the season after that game and really didn't make any excuses for Jared like he was very much In line with making Jared understand that he was the biggest culprit in some of their losses. So I'm not really surprised. Jared hadn't had good years here the last couple of years, at least not Way he had previously when he led them to the Super Bowl. And we have a situation where it seems fairly evident that Sean McVeigh got the best out of Jared Goff, and he no longer had much useful. About Stafford being the one that comes to the Rams your reaction with the Lions making this deal with the Rams, and you know there were other quarterback names out there. I'll look at the Shawn Watson. I know that there's a lot of question marks still there. But what do you make of the Rams pulling the trigger? If Matt Stafford I think it makes sense. First of all it Brad Homes with the Lions general manager is from the Rand Street, He worked for less need. Who's the general manager of the Los Angeles Rams? So You think it was just an easy deal for them to make because Brad obviously part of the scouting department that you know work on drafting Jared Goff, number one Overall, he might have been part if I recall correctly. He was also part of the group that gave him a big contract. But you look at Matt Stafford. And you're looking at a guy who He's tough as nails right place through injuries is certainly got a bigger armed and Jared Goff. He's certainly more mobile than Jared golf and he is desperate to win. And I think that that's the exact combination that the Rams wanted because the waves of the number one defense in the NFL, so they look at their quarterback situation and they have a very pedestrian quarterback at this point. Almost any metric. You look at Jared Goff, and he's probably in that bottom third of starters, Where's Matthew Stafford is probably closer to that top 10 rage. He may not be in that top 10, but he's right there. He's in that second tier. I think of quarterbacks. That you can win football games with, especially if you've got the weapons around him. The Rams have the weapons on offense. They've got a good running game next one offensive line. They've got good receivers when everyone's healthy, which was an issue this past season and as I mentioned the number one defense and an excellent special teams. And by the way I mentioned showing the day earlier. You're talking about one of the brightest, smartest young coaches in the NFL. So I just think that if it makes all the sense in the world, it's a clear upgrade. Over Jared Ball, and I think the Rams felt like if they had competent to above average quarterback play. They could be the team that's in the Super Bowl next week. I think the Rams went up a few 100 point thing. It was like, plus 1200 or something to that effect. When this trade God announced now how much of an immediate impact do you see here? How much of an immediacy overall Do the Rams have now that they have a star quarterback like Matthew Stafford and all the positives that you say that Stafford will immediately be able to Inject himself into this system. Look, I think that if you look at Sean McDaid, he's a quarterback friendly a coach's You have right, like, think about it. They they brought in the guy John Woolford to play some chair golf. And played really well for them. This is a guy who you know was a German right like he was playing in the NFL prior to arriving with the ranch, and he got him to win. Off football game in the National Football League like that's how good they are, As far as their coaching staff is concerned, I know that Vincent changes there are a lot of guys have fled because if you stand next to Shawn Bebe, clearly you're gonna get a job somewhere in the NFL. That seems to be the case. But at the end of the day, the most important part is that Shawn is there and what you've seen from Shawn over the last couple of years, and his wife and Matthew Stafford and him, we'll gel really well. Is that The players in the locker room. Whether it's on the offensive side or the defensive side, they believe in him. They know that their coach is going to have them ready. You got the sense that the players in that locker room Didn't feel like Jared Golf was the guy to get them over the hump. Matthew Stafford is well regarded in the National Football League. For the reasons I alluded earlier, whether it's toughness, big arm, etcetera, etcetera. I just think that You get to a point in your career where you want to win, And that seems to be the case with Matthew Stafford. He's given the city of Detroit everything he could. So I just think it's the perfect marriage because you've got a coach who is hyper focused on winning. And you know it's doing over the Super Bowl loss He had a couple of years ago to the Patriots and his laser focused on that task. And now you have a quarterback who also is desperate in regards to winning. So I just think With that match. With the Rams being hyper aggressive in general as a franchise if you look at them historically because they've been in l. A, they have made big, bold moves. This is a perfect setup for everybody. George Sedano with ESPN ELA joining us here on SportsCenter all night. Last question for you. When you look at Jared Golfs career with the Rams from start to finish. What do you think? How do you think we will think of Jared Jared Golfs tenure with the Rams when we look back on it. I think you look at Jared Golf as a guy who excels because he had one of the best young coaches in the sport and people forget Or maybe they don't. I don't know,.

"It's pretty good deal if you ask me, but that's just me. All right. I will number two coming your way. Had my next guest plan to talk about the Senior ball, which he was at and is our number one draft NFL draft guy. Um, but while we're at it, we'll just talk about the NFL with him because, Oh, he's been doing this long enough that he scouted both of these guys when they were both picked number one overall in the NFL draft. Joining me from NFL draft Bible and Sports Illustrated, Rick Sorry, Tele here with me on CBS Sports Radio. How are you ready, Daddy? Appreciate you coming on board. Yes. You know that trade came down less in an hour ago between the Rams and the Lions, with Gary Goff heading out to L. A. Matthews heading to Detroit. Matthew Stafford going to L. A. But oh, by the way, Lions get two first round picks futures and a third round pick as well. Get it. The staff for it is the better player right now. But he's also the older player right now. And the extra draft capital did lions get? I don't think the bad deal with all for Detroit. How do you see these two quarterbacks for the next 234 years performing for their new teams? We'll try to make sense of it for you, Jody. I think what it comes down to me. This is the first of the big Q B carousel Domino to fall. Because I believe that you know, when you take a look at the opening day rosters Come September, you'll see at least Half the league. I'm saying at least 16 teams could have new starting quarterback. So this is the first domino to fall. How much does a Matthew Stafford get on the open market? How much does that dish on? Watch and get Or trade there, I say, and Aaron Rodgers, I think you see dreams. Jimmy Garoppolo, another quarterback who's going to be on the move. I think you're gonna see a lot of quarterbacks being traded. The Rams got out in front of it about themselves a quarterback who wasn't a check down Charlie. Okay, cause Jared Golf really can't throw the ball beyond five yards effectively. And so now you have a small window. I thought the Rams had the best defense in the playoffs. And I thought they matched up well against Green Bay. So if you injected Matthew Stafford into that match up, does that put them over the hump to get incident NFC Championship and who knows from there? I think from the ram standpoint, they're looking at it like, Hey, we've got to franchise pieces on defense. Inara, Donald, Jalen Ramsey. Why not go for the gusto? Why not try to win this thing? And you know if you look at what Carson Wentz deal in the same draft class. They gave up a couple first round picks a second round pick a third round before traffic, So it's not too far along the base. As for the lines, it makes sense. I still think they're going to draft a quarterback. Even with Jared dollars. I think you get to two years stop Gap solution and it's a costly one. But you still think that the lines might dress the quarterback here? They add. You know they stockpiles and draft picks there later. They're back. They're going to be in the back end of the first round with these ram sticks they acquired, so I'm not the biggest Matthew Stafford guy, Jody. But I understand why the Rams did it and there's a trickle effect that's going to happen here because of it. I understand I'm with you. I understand the line of thinking for both of the two teams a little surprised that you say. That the Lions would also still draft a quarterback. The number seven um, you are married to God. Basically contractually, for the next two years life you're gonna have a quarterback sitting on your bench who's making 30? 2 33 $34 million, which that's never happened before in the National Football League, But I know Stafford's got great arm strength. Do we just look past the fact that he hasn't won a playoff game in the decade in Detroit? I think we'll find out because you know you in that offense with Sean McVeigh. I think girls for 5000 yards next year, so let's see 5000 yards in Detroit to did I miss their playoff win. Yeah, well, you're right about that, Jodi. But I'll tell you what Matthew Stafford make bruise that Jared Golf cannot and you talk about getting the ball downfield stretching. Defense. Matt Stafford can do it. Paragons. Not so much, Okay. I don't think it's a terrible trade for Detroit. I think that I know Matthew Stafford Scott talents and skills but a decade's worth of inability to get a team. Somewhere in the playoffs. I'm also gonna look and I'm gonna factor at work today in there, too. And Washington football fans won't want to hear. But supposedly, I'm hearing some talk that Washington football team made maybe a better offer. But the lion's wanted to work with Stafford, help accommodate him. He does have a home in the Hollywood area, so maybe doing him somewhat of a little bit of Ah, a decent Yeah. All right, Um If that's an interesting piece of information. If that's the case, I would say shame on the Detroit Lions and I I feel like such a Scrooge in a bad dude. Uh, give me any grief that you want. I'm earning it here, but It's a cut to a world sports is cutthroat business and you need to do what if Matthew Stafford wants to move on, and you will accommodate him and trade him. You also got to trade him for a lesser deal, toe a place to make him or happy. That's going above and beyond the call of duty if you ask me. If you know, I mean, it has ramifications. Long term players Look at the organization's they Hey, they do the right thing, But I'm with you, at the end of the day of business is business. It's a cold business, too. "Air filling approximate value in every state. Fuck. Fourth radio. The Jason Smith show with Mike Harmon live from the farmers Insurance Studios. And while yes, Shawn watching drama still is front page front burner news. We had a new entrance it Hey, hang on A second has shown Watson We got something for you. When today we're starting to see the market developed with specific teams regarding Matthew Stafford, who the Lions have resolved to trade sometime the next couple of weeks and, according to ESPN. Matthew Stafford considers the Rams a contender in his trademark it Now you know the Rams. They hate Jared Golf. They would love to get rid of him. But if they cut him it's $65 million in dead cat money this year, Okay, so that's not happening if you treat you good. It betrayed him. It's going to cost you $22 million, which is not that big a deal when you consider cutting in the 65 million, so they're not cutting him. When I said the other night. This would I need to apologize for. I said No one's trading for Jared Golf. Look at that contract. Are you kidding? Plus he stunk for the last two years? Who the hell is going to trade for Jared Goff? I forgot. I forgot. The lions are still in the NFL. I admit Mike that was that's completely on me. I forgot that the Lions were there, and you know what? When I looked at the 32 teams, I think I just went over the Lions and I missed their name and I forgot. Oh, yes, The Lions could go out and make a ridiculous trade on trade. Matthew Stafford, a charity golf back if lesson he could pull this off. He's the general manager of the decade and we're only in 2021. If you can find a team to take Jared Goff in that contract for the next couple of years, and a guy that's not been good in three years. Wow, that is some kind of wizardry and sorcery. Yeah, he's already been doing things with the salary cap that really defy. A logic and what we presumed to be the rules of engagement related to this salary cap, because, even in talking about Jared Golf, and just where they are, salary cap wise, right, he talked a little bit like a wizard like a guy who had some extra knowledge of the loopholes Kind of like Bill Belichick when he walks around with the rule book. He knows what the words on the in and really mean in the whole rule book that nobody else seems to less deed seems to have the magic touch when it comes to salary cap. Azaz. You know, we've talked about this a little bit with Jared Gulf, its theme. Can you Whoever is going to take him on and trade Rand. You're gonna have to either have already restructured this deal, or they're just gonna have to eat a bunch of that cash. Kind of like the era nado deal going to ST Louis. All right, we're gonna also gonna give you $50 million, and that's just the way this thing Only way This is gonna work. He wants out. We're done with this and well, there's the Dodgers, and now we're chasing both the Dodgers and the Padres. So this doesn't work. So I think it's all the it comes down to how much of that money are they willing to swallow? In this process to bring Stafford in because there were reports right people trying to hype up Denver or some of these other place where maybe there's already built team to come in and compete and like, Well, no, he doesn't want to go there. He doesn't want to go where it's cold. And the West Coast is looking pretty good s O between the 40 Niners and the Rams. Those would appear to be two of the destinations that Matthew Stafford's eager to check out Chris Burke, Our buddy he writes for the athletic, now in in Detroit. Said. Quote. I hope we find out Clayton Kershaw leaked. The Stafford ran's rumor. You know, it's funny, you said, because the one thing to not ignore here is, as you said, is the relationship between the lines and the range of the GM. Brad Homes, you know, being a longtime Rand executive gets the job the salary cap thing. It's still just stuns me that a team can say Yeah, we'll take on this kind of money for Jared Golf. I mean, I get I get that when you have a young quarterback who was a number one pick, But have you seen him play in the last coming here is a team that knows him better than anybody in the Rams, and they want him gone so much with all this money, they are ready to kick him out. Because they don't think he can be the guy and and suddenly you think you're gonna It's gonna work in Detroit with him. Wow. I don't know, man. Wow, but I apologize. I said they're not trading but I forgot the lines were in the NFL. That's on me. I failed you coming up next A speaking of failure. Do we have an NFL press conference? You've got a year. That does learning a language feel like this. No, I'll blast manual real. It's hablo. It's all blow when you learn a language you want to actually use it. Babble is designed with that goal.

"Coming to terms with him on a five year $115 million deal, ESPN insider Tim Kurkjian. They're in a division with the Braves, who are really good with the Mets, who are demonstrably better and still not doing it. Still not done in the free agent market. There still In there for Trevor Bauer. The nationals have gotten better, and the Marlins made the playoffs last year, so the Phillies had to do something Real Muto's the best catcher in the game. He's a team leader. He's a tremendous player and they had to resign him if they were gonna have any chance of contending in this division. Now they have to figure out center field and shortstop. I need to go get another starting pitcher. They need to continue to try to shore up that open. The 29 year old heading to 66 with 11 homers and 32 R B I with the Phillies during the pandemic shortened 2020 season, he did not accept the $19 Million.1 year qualifying offer, instead seeking a longer term deal on the free agent market. 115,000,005 years with the Phillies. Ford Center all night ESPN radio back to the NFL lot of attention around Aaron Rodgers this week and whether he's unhappy Also in that division Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph says he's upset with his role in the Vikings offense over the past couple of seasons, having gone from Minnesota's Second or third leading receiver. You went after thought in the passing game in 2020. He says he won't Considering a pay cut. As for quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford to Shawn Watson. Jared Goff, all with question marks around them a week after Sean McVeigh had opted not to commit to Jared Golf as the team starter, general manager Les Snead. Saying essentially the same thing. Oh, Jared Goff said. He's a ram right? Right now. So what's the day? Okay? Oh, yes, January 26. I mean, that's that's a fact. That's obvious legend golfs a ram in this moment, and I said its way toward speculate future that's a beautiful mystery. Dutiful mystery, Of course, the reference to what Aaron Rodgers had said about his future. So we don't know now about the future of Jared Golf with the Rams, ESPN analyst and Orlovsky The big thing is when he had that two year round with Sean McVeigh. The touchdowns were so up on that outside zone scheme in the play action, 60 touchdowns and like 18 interceptions. And then the last two years, the touchdowns have dropped to like 43 interceptions are up to 28 29 because they're not running the same scheme. And so they're not getting those huge play action chunks that really make it advantageous for a quarterback. And so the play, the production has fallen off. I would say this general managers don't think in the now they're always thinking ahead right? Less does not make that comment unless he started thinking about this long ago months ago. He's making the comment just being up front and honest that the door is now opened that this is a thought process in Los Angeles, which is shocking compared to what we were two years ago in the Super Bowl. Jared Goff, so I'm sure they've got something up their sleeves that they're thinking about. But Jared Golfs play just wasn't up to the standard that they wanted this year. So the question remains, whether that golf would be on the roster for the Rams in 2021 SportsCenter all night, ESPN radio. As for other quarterbacks with question marks About Detroit team starting to reach out to the Lion's about Potential trade for Matthew Stafford, which has been the expectation since this past weekend when we learned that the Lions and Stafford mutually agreeing to Our ways before next season. ESPN insider field Yates. This is very different than something like to Shawn Watson. It's known it's now known that Matthew Stafford and the Lions prepared to part ways. It does not cost the Lions all their leverage, though hers because it's such a reasonable contract to add, you know that there's a chance like you know that Detroit is motivated to get a deal done. But you also know you've got to send something respectful, right? Like you can't say like, hey, I'll give you a third round pick for Matthew Stafford. Teams know the price is gonna be sniffing it. Right? Look, when you've agreed it's best I could. Both parties are on the same page here. It also means that Matthew Stafford knows that like if no offer comes their way, none whatsoever. It still means that one of he could say in Detroit, right. There's no rule that says he can't go back to the lights. But anyways, I like to play or a lot. I'm not sure a player that I could think of over the past 10 or 15 years has been surrounded by less consistently the Matthew Stafford. Now there are some numbers that you can point to and you know, losing record as a quarterback early in his career dealt with injuries. Early in his career. Too many interceptions. I truly believe that Matthew Stafford could be one of those players that pops if they if he changes settings, is there anywhere that jumps out at you guys that you feel like Stafford might see and say, OK? Yeah, that spot would be cool. Like I know, I've seen the Indianapolis Colts floating around to make the case for Andy because I think it's a great location for him. So Indianapolis obviously know Philip rivers and see years retiring. Congratulations on a great career. The only quarterback. They have under contract. Jacob peace in their fourth round pick out of Washington last year, and he's got a very clean captured no bad contracts. Now they're gonna have to take care of some guys this offseason. They've got some free agents like Xavier Rhodes. If they bring him back aren't going to be cheap, but they're working with plenty of cap space. This is not a team that picking at number 21, even if you did get a quarterback history tells us if you're getting a quarterback at 21, it's a wild card. It's a developmental guy at best. You don't have time to maybe find a quarterback epic 21, Right? And if you're gonna go big, which they did last year by trade in the first round pick for the Forest Buckner, they're gonna wanted to hit. We learned last week. They aren't a last season. They are scared of going big. They're ready to win. Matthew Stafford. And by the way, this is one dynamic that maybe sounds inconsequential. You should always take the best deal, but it certainly does not hurt. When you could have a trade with a team that you won't play for at least three years. That's always something you prefer always and they're not going to play the lions. The Lions were gonna play the Colts for three more seasons. Let's meet the Super Bowl, which feels unlikely given the line's history. A source familiar with the situation, saying the lines will be looking for fair market value for Matthew Stafford, franchise leader in every major passing category. Detroit making three playoff appearances with Stafford, losing In the wild card round, all three times. You knock off a conference rival. What metaphor would you use to describe it? You'll hear it next SportsCenter all night continues its ESPN radio coming.

"I think anybody with with eyes nose that Jared Golf isn't a quarterback that he's being paid to be. But can he be the quarterback that is good enough to take a very talented Rams team? And get back to where they want to be. And you mentioned it that they have been a Super Bowl team. They were in the Super Bowl. Now they were brutal offensively in the Super Bowl, but, um Can he be good enough to get back there? And so this is from at this is from after the game last night, it's it's Q and a with the with the reporter and Sean McDaid. Listen, I thought he improved on last week. You know, I think you really saw a guy that stepped in and he did what he could. I thought he made some plays. Thought he saw the field well, like I was mentioning, but No, we, uh you know, he did a good job today. He's your quarter is your quarterback. He's the quarterback, right? So it faded off a little bit right there, But it said Yeah, he's the quarterback right now. Which was weird because he didn't seem like he was building up to him, saying that It was a great follow up and the follow up tells you all that. You need to know if you're a head coach, and you're getting quarter and you're getting questions about your quarterback being the quarterback going forward. You could sit there and you can pretend that it's not an issue, but it's an issue. The minute that the that the media Starts questioning and fans start questioning and everybody else starts questioning the minute that it becomes a regular topic on this, Stephen A. Smith's shows and Skip and Shannon. And everything else. The minute it starts becoming a debate about Jared Golf, you know that It's boiling to that point. But when the media starts asking The coach after the game, and he answered it that he's the quarterback right now. Yeah, listen, not not the smartest way to answer the question. I'll just be. I'll just be totally honest with what I think As a coach, you need to be able to lie. And by leaving that door open and even saying that even if it wasn't your intention to say it like that, or to mean it like that, that's what everybody is going to take from. It is that says he's the quarterback right now. Here's the bottom line. Jared Goff is the quarterback that he's being paid to be the starting quarterback of the Ramseys being overpaid to be the starting quarterback of the Rams, right? So you could say, Well, they'll try to trade him in the off season. Yeah, good luck. Have you seen with that contract Looks like I mean, they could get out from the contract and take a big cap it and then move on. But the problem is no team in their right mind is going to take on a contract that Z, making 30 quarterbacks making $35 million a year. Being up and down, Quarterback up and down, up and down. Sometimes you watch a game. You're like. All right, Listen, cops really good, but too many times you watch the game and say Gates just not special. I mean, that's that's what I think That's what I think. When I watch Rams games. It's like, all right. Yeah, like he could throw the ball is a good natural passer. But does he have the intangibles that you're looking for? Out of out of some of the great quarterbacks in the league, and he doesn't So Sean McVeigh now is a problem on his hands because he's got the media asking if he's the guy going forward, and you have the coach answering Shaun McFly answering. He's the guy right now. When you say he's the guy right now, you know what What? Everybody's going to take from that right now. Right now. He's the guy right now until we can find something different. Until we can figure something else out. I wonder. I honestly wonder this. I wonder if they had other options yesterday if they would have even started Jared Goff and use it kind of has an excuse. To, um It always injured. He still banged up with the thumb. We could put Woolford in there right, but he's out with a concussion in the neck injury. So I wonder if they had a healthy quarterback that they felt like Was You know, like an NFL type quarterback, and I know Wolf Fur doesn't have a lot of Ah, lot of experience in the NFL Was this 1st 1st role playing time that he played before he went down with the injury. Um I wonder what they would have done. But if you were a ram fan, or you're just a follower of the NFL, it just keep keep a close eye on this, And the real problem is that I don't know how you get out from under this contract. I did some I did some research here before coming on just to see how how bad that contract was. And it's not just about what the contract is. It's how much guaranteed money you're on the hook for going forward right. It's not necessarily well. His average annual value contract is $35 million a year. It's about what the new team would have to pick up what it would be. And you're looking at significant money. You're looking at roster bonuses and guaranteed bonuses in in the next year, and to where a team would not only have to give something up. I guess, but also would be on the hook for a quarterback that I just don't think anybody thinks it's all that good, right? I mean, if I'm a team that's looking for a quarterback. I'm not looking at JAG off and saying, Like, all right, I could work with that guy. He's pretty good. He's been good before. Let me go ahead and trade form and take on this contract and it enough. If he was a free agent, if he was a guy that had a more palatable contract, Okay, I could see a team taking taking a shot at him for sure. But it's more about his play and the amount of money he's making. So like a Ryan Fitzpatrick and I'm not saying Ryan Fitzpatrick is a good court as a great quarterback it on an option that I would want if I need if I was a quarterback that needed a team that needed a quarterback, I'm not saying that at all. Here's what I'm saying. I'd rather have Ryan Fitzpatrick for for a playoff game than Jared Goff right now. Jared Goff just seems like he's there. Really good arm is it is a good rhythm thrower. Um Not like he doesn't have great weapons when we talk about that, with Lamar Jackson. I like Lamar Jackson's running backs. Mark Andrews is an excellent tight end Hollywood Brown's I guess his most dynamic receiver, but you look at Robert Woods and you look it at Cam makers is it is a is a star. In this league. Developing a running back. That was a mid round pick cam makers is I mean, Because it's really good. He is so you have a lot of pieces on that offense. You have a lot of pieces. On that offense that A lot of other teams don't have and the defense is excellent. That was the strength of their team. Um so Really? You can't look at it and say, Well, you know, God doesn't have enough help. He's got a couple of good running backs. He's got Cooper Cup and Robert Woods. He's got at least a decent tight end in Tyler Higbee. He's got some some other weapons that they have. Had wide receiver. He's got an innovative coach saw McVeigh is an excellent coach. He can scheme guys open. The problem is Jared Golf. Right? That's the problem is Jared job, so I don't I don't know what you do. I don't know if you drop somebody and you try toe, try to have a quarterback competition and you have them there in case golf. Struggles. The problem is, there's too much talent on the team and golf. Isn't that bad? If God was that bad it be easy to put somebody else in, But he's not that bad. He's still throws for a lot of yards. He's not a terrible quarterback..

"Jamal belong Setback. Devante wide to the right side. Soft coverage by Jalen Ramsey On that side, Rodgers takes fakes. The handoff looks to throw lots it down the middle Lissa face He is gone, Touched up. The Packers with a dagger 31 Day, 80 That's right. It was a dagger in the game because it did feel like that. The Rams were hanging around, and Jared Goff didn't played that poorly last night. I'm not a big fan of Jared Golf, but I didn't think that he played badly in the game and you start looking at his numbers. He was He was more than competent 21 or 27 174 yards. It's not great for yards per attempt, and he was sacked four times, but it was a passer rating of one or 5.9. They're run game was terrific yesterday. Or should I say you can makers was terrific yesterday average five yards a carry. And I give charming. They a lot of credit because they were they were trying You continue the run game, even in the third quarter, like they're like, Hey, it doesn't matter that we're down two touchdowns. It doesn't matter. We need to be able to run the ball. And they tried to do it. But the Packers defense is super good. And it's now matched up with their offense. Watching Aaron Rodgers. Played quarterback is like watching someone conduct a symphony. And you see when he figures out these mismatches that are going on How he's able to take advantage of them. How he's able to know. Do a box count. To know where the defense is shifting to knowing where he's got one on one matchups and then exploiting it. He didn't even play his best game yesterday. They were a couple throws that he missed. But that that syriza of downs right before the half where and there was like a touchdown opportunity there When you see some of the throws that he makes, and you're thinking, well, he's got 75 yards and, like 30 seconds Doesn't matter. He's that locked in right now. He's playing at that level right now, and it's it's fun to watch him. I'm happy for him. He's one of my favorite players in the league. And towards the end of the McCarthy era. Football wise, I mean, not politically. Towards the end of the McCarthy air. It felt like a guy that was out of sorts that didn't have an offense that was able to put on display. His incredible set of skills. To use a line from taking Until Patrick Mahomes came along. We looked in there and it still might be the truth. I'm just saying that Patrick Mahomes is at least in the conversation. Air. Rogers was the most talented quarterback who would ever played in the NFL. I'm not saying that he's the goat. I'm saying that he was the most talented With all the things that you ask a quarterback to do, he could do them at an a level. Arm strength accuracy. Rolling on the run. Intelligence speed. Understanding when and where to run. He happened in yesterday's game. Yesterday when he's down by the goal line and he pump fakes. It gets Hlynur Floyd up in the air and goes right around him to score a touchdown. The guy has everything you want in a quarterback. If you're building a quarterback, it's built up like either Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers. You got all the things that you need at your disposal. And then you bring in Matt Leflore and Matt Leflore. There was. There was a lot of consternation about whether or not this whole thing could work. Whether these two guys get function together, and now you're seeing an offense that has Loud Aaron Rodgers to flourish. Into what I suspect is going to be him winning the M V P He's he's just He's like a cheat code. Sometimes when you see him when he's locked in the floor, said that that group That group is super confident, although our guys maybe not didn't get the respect they deserve, you know for the media. We knew what we had in terms of players that we had on our roster and they've embraced the challenge and they've gotten better and they've gone out. Done it. It all starts with their their approach and how they prepare. And I wanted Go back to the idea that the best left tackle in the game. Is missing. And did the Packers offense look like you missed the beat? Nope. Now it'll be a harder fight, no matter which defense they take on. Whether they take on Tampa or whether they take on the Saints. Both of those defense. Is there going to be tougher because they'll be closer to full strength, then what the Rams are without Aaron Donald in the middle of their defensive line. Speaking of which Chamakh they talked about The Rams getting to this point. You know, If we go back to week 17, there was an opportunity for the Rams to not make the playoffs. They end up making the playoffs. The quarterback's gotta surgically repaired thumb. The best player on their defense, and maybe the best defense of player in the league. Not have not really there there, but not really there that being said McVeigh was proud of what his team showed. Love this football team. Love what you know the I love the scars that we were able to respond from. You know, there was a lot of ebbs and flows this year, but the men in that locker room I'm very appreciative of. You know, the thing about the NFL is, there's change is inevitable you year in and year out, but very grateful for the experience is in the opportunity to work with such a great group of coaches and players. I love watching some vague coach. How about him, pulling the varsity blues hook and lateral play on.

"Looking at that play, probably thinking to themselves. No. Our baby boy just threw the game away for Indianapolis here because that's a fumble. Everyone with two eyes thought that that was a fumble yet still, after two minutes of looking at this replay, they deemed it. Nope. Not a fumble. He was down by contact. Replay is the absolute worst thing. And I know I just know in 2021. I don't know what game it will be. But replay is going to cost somebody a football game. I'm glad it wasn't the buffalo Bills and the age old term proved to be correct with this match of that being Baldo lie because Philip Rivers, my guy, Philly Rivers had a chance being blessed by the replay. God's a K A. In this situation, the devil. Giving Philip Rivers another chance to go drive down the field and either set up for a game time field goal or go score game winning touchdown. And I think rivers through what 3 to 4 incompletions. Connected one pass with Michael Pittman junior that actually ended up losing a yard. And there was a couple more in completions and then a Hail Mary attempt and I tweeted while we were setting up for this Hail Mary attempt knowing like immediately as soon as I saw them set up for this, I was, like, all right, well, the last time Buffalo lost It was on a Hail Mary. Is this going to happen again? Because the city of Buffalo would completely implode. If Philip Rivers and the Colts win this football game on a Hail Mary. They set up for the Hail Mary Philip Rivers. At the age old of what is he 39 pushing 40 years old, Shockingly could not get the ball all the way down to the end zone. Buffalo bats it down. They win the football game is the Buffalo Bills first playoff victory since December 30th of 1995, and I'm specific with the date. Because about five months later. On. I think it's made 21st Josh Allen was born. So the bills had not won a playoff game in the lifetime of their starting quarterbacks. Yeah, Josh out, Born may 21st 1996 Prior to today. The Bills had not won a playoff game since December, 30th. 1995. It's been a long time coming for Buffalo. I'm happy for the fan days. They're a They're a rowdy group of individuals. I have seen people getting put through fiery tables since the wind. I saw a beautiful picture. Perfect. I mean, chefs kiss power bomb. I kno w W E says Don't try these things at home. But the Buffalo Bills fans just They can't help themselves and look their party and their team has a really good shot. Because defensively, the Indianapolis Colts were the best team that they will see until likely Kansas City and even still, Indianapolis's defense better than Kansas City's defense can see just has 15 on their roster, and he is virtually unbeatable. In the postseason. We'll have more on this buffalo bills when it was a very, very huge win. But as always, the phone lines open 802 to 4 to zero. A zero for our buddy Mitch in New Jersey on the line. Want to talk about the Los Angeles Rams? Mitch? What's up, man? How are you? Good. How you doing? Like to work or Okay In the first game. I didn't witness All right, um And it reverses and Charged them can remind me. Just be cool with that. I mean, I think of course, the game come all the way the Reds he was I was liking. What? You know what you're on. Water was showing us and that was such a cheap shot. I can't say because he was running that anybody in the head when you run with the Bulls, but it often climbing very cheap shot, including, you don't know He's some people around the world, especially, uh, We're gonna win this game because it is from line Sharon don. He's really here can turn signal with game. Indicating McNichol, McVeigh's, um You know what? The course. Why didn't he have a third string quarterback on? It seems even balls. I heard a terrible Perkins. That is a million dollar question right there. I for the life of me, Miss. I appreciate the call is always my guy. I for the life of me have no idea why the Los Angeles Rams did not have a third string quarterback. And what's even sillier and I tweet about this because the play where where John Woolford got hurt that Mitch alluded to There he was, he was kind of hit in the head by Jamal Adams will discuss that play in much more detail. In our number two of the program, But that play in general was a designed to run play for John Woolford, and I will be the first to tell you historically, I have no idea. About John Woolford. I didn't really watch the af that much. I watched one team in the A F Because I knew a guy that played on the team. We went to high school together. But outside of that I did not watch. I think he played for what? The Arizona hot shots or whoever was the hotshots in the hotshots. Um, I didn't. I didn't watch John Walford, so I don't know. Maybe he is this running quarterback, but here's what I do know. When I saw him step on the field. I Googled his his height and I went to Wikipedia, which is the most trustworthy source on the Internet, and Wikipedia said that John Walford was 61 and I saw that I looked back in my television screen, and I said that Dude has absolutely he's missing some of the 61. Let's put it that way. He's listed 261. He is missing some of the 61. And then they call it designed Run play for the guy. I mean, Sean McVeigh is this offensive genius, and I believe that What? What are you doing? You have a quarterback in Jared Golf, that you were not confident enough in his health for him to start this football game, and then you call a designed run play with your small quarterback. That's probably closer to 5 10 than he is to 61, and he gets cracked. By Jamal Adams, the hard hitting box safety for the Seattle Seahawks. The play made zero sense whatsoever. And yet somehow in this weird way Los Angeles is kind of benefiting from it. They're up 20 to 13 over Seattle. Jared Golf isn't playing great by any stretch of the imagination is four of 11 for 98 yards, No touchdowns. No picks. He's not playing great, but somehow the Rams still lead the Seahawks with under 10 minutes to go. In the third quarter. It makes less sense than the actual play call made. This is a game that Seattle should be smacking Los Angeles around, and for whatever reason, they just haven't been able to do so yet. Now I say that Russell Wilson just missed DK Metcalf, who had about two steps on the great Jalen Ramsey, which would've been DK second touchdown of the game to tie the ballgame. Russ missed there. But this is game. Seattle should be winning. All right, coming up. Ah, big. Big play just did happen in this. This Rams Seahawks seen we have to touch on that, because if it's a serious as it might have looked The Los Angeles Rams are in some trouble will do that. As you wrap up our number one in my opinion was dead day on the others..

"You're gonna go to the team that has a chance to win. But if but if you can. I mean, even if it's like, let's say it's it's similar. Let's say the money similar. Let's say maybe team teammate is is offering you $5 million more money than team be most of the time. Orders. Take that money, especially in the NFL. So I mean, listen, Jared Jared golf When he looks good, he can look good. But when he looks bad, man, he looks bad. Tom right here on the edge. When he it looks like he's afraid to get hit and when your quarterback and you're afraid to get hit, there's a think that comes along with that The defense knows it. You're right. No, You're right, Tom. Happy New Year to you. Thank you for listening, All right? Careful they're getting in the Sacramento Sac town. Mean isco's guy. So you know, I kind of hope I don't sound cool. Like Jim Rome does talking about Sacramento. The left coast. I've heard people call the left coast were northeasterner so You know, we have our own way about things, but yet it Zafarani because Jared Golf Woz like Gerry Goffin, Carson Wentz pick one, too. And for a while it looked like Carson Wentz is gonna be the much better quarterback Now you watch him this year, at least for like, half of the year and you're like, Wow, That's why you want God. Office, a better pure rhythm passer. But like Tom had said, And this also applies the Carson Wentz. This year, People will ask me because I'm in Philly. I do 20 hours a week a radio it wi pe 2 to 6 p.m.. You can find it on the radio dot com map. Um What happened to Carson Wentz, and it's not an easy answer, and I don't think it's just one thing. But here's what I saw from Carson Wentz late in the season, and it's exactly what Tom was talking about with Jared Goff. He took so many hits. And he was sacked so many times, and some of it was him hanging onto the ball too long. But instead of serving the field, Carson Wentz was always a red defense's got the line of scrimmage. Red defense has changed place or whatever was always thought to be a very intelligent quarterback. You saw none of that this year because he wasn't seeing the field, so he snaps the ball. He's in shotgun. Is wide receivers aren't getting separation. They're having a problem scheming wide receivers open even if they get open. He's more worried about looking at the rush because he's taken so many shots, and you've seen the same thing with Jared Goff. And you can't have that You gotta be able to maneuver around in the pocket. You can't be looking at the rush. But that's what happened. The Carson Wentz this year it's not an excuse. It's an explanation on how he could have been turned to be so bad. I don't know. The last quarterback that has went from Yeah, He's one of the good young quarterbacks in the league and he's an all pro type quarterback to. He may not be in Philadelphia next year. His contract didn't even start yet. Is $128 million contract. It hasn't even started yet. It starts next year. They've paid $54 million. The Eagles that paid $54 million out in a signing bonus. And the contract hasn't even started yet, And the talk is that they may move on in the off season just to try to get a draft pick. A second round draft because he's been that bad. It's unbelievable. Jared golf, You see what makes him a good quarterback. When he's a good quarterback. He's got a great throwing motion. He's a rhythm passer. If you keep him upright, and you make him leave him confident. In in the pocket. Man you could and trauma vacant scheme guys open. That's a really, really good offense right now. It's not a really good offense. It's bad, and it starts with our God, who, by the way, is not playing this week. Ava. Back up. You know who he is? The Canadian Football League quarterback. That's playing this week. So coarse and went to Jared Goff 12 in the 2016 draft and Hasn't necessarily worked out the way the team's thought It was gonna work it out. Although God has been that was Super Bowl, albeit they lost the Super Bowl because he was brutal in the Super Bowl, but he has been there was Super Bowl. All right, I know bull season. Is, um It was different this year, obviously with the pandemic and not having as many bowls as you once did, But bowl season is a lot of fun. Right Start sometime in December, and you have a lot of my Nikki Carr care bowls. Connor is that one of your favorite the Meineke car care bowl? You love the monkey. You always want to have some good car care, And it's good to have reminder in the bowl game. You know you need the reminder Ex. Otherwise what? We just too Might just never get your oil changed, or they the little Caesars Pizza Bowl. You know what I'm talking about. There's been a lot of different balls that have come and gone throughout the years. Well this year, I was surprised to hear I didn't mean just the first year for it. I didn't do a lot of a lot of research on it. Duke's Mayo Bowl. And to where they literally like they had. They had like the logo for it was a squeeze bottle mail. So like I'm not I'm not a big fan of Mayo Connor. I like a little light Mayo on on a sandwich. Or as we call here in Philadelphia, who? G if it's a turkey hoagie or roast beef hoagie. I don't know. Turkey Club. I'll have some Mayo light. May I don't like the extra Mayo. Actually, I prefer miracle Whip you ever have miracle Whip Connor? I never have no I'm again. I'm not a very adventurous eater. You're not. No, you're not. You said that Well, Miracle Whip, I think is a sweeter mayo. It Z mayo with sugar in it. I believe so I always like that growing up with on turkey sandwiches. But anyway, But I would actually I'm a big catch up fan. I put ketchup on everything like you said with the cheeseburgers. You put ketchup on that I put ketchup on pretty much anything. So I would prefer a catch up Condiment bowl rather than a Mayo Bowl and a mustard bull. I don't know if I need a mustard ball either. Do you really need a Golden's Bowl? Or French is mustard ball with a French mustard bottle as the trophy I don't think so. Right, But so so who? Even who? Even one that the, uh Mayo Bull, the Duke's Mayo ball, I forget. All I know is that the winner dropped the trophy and it was this. It was like this crystal football trophy, and they were on instagram video taping them dancing. And they drop it and it goes in 1000 pieces. On the ground. It was amazing not to be outdone by by the cheese it Bull Connor and I like Cheez its I'm a cheese had fan right like cheese. That's a good They're versatile. You can have him with your eating cheese. I guess they're good is just a regular snack. My kids like cheese. It's one of the staples that we go to. But I don't know this. We know if I need a cheese it pull, but I actually have I have a good idea for college football. His earlier today I was I was lobbying for The for an expanded playoff, and I know millions of people have said that in college football expanded plans, You know, millions of people have said that so it's not you. It's not unique, but it s so I'm gonna get my foot back into another idea for college football. Right, like, how about they do the liquid plumber Toilet bowl? Next year and going forward. So instead of getting the good teams right because anybody can find a six win team and put him in this in this crappy bowl, wherever And they haven't played another mediocre team and they can play it. But when was the last time there was a bull with two really, really bad teams? And that's what you would have the liquid plumber Toilet bowl. Get two of the worst teams in the nation, if not the two worst teams in the nation. You let him play for it, and the loser wins the liquid Plumber Toilet Bowl trophy, so you don't want to win the trophy. You want to win to not be the worst team in the league. I mean, frankly, I would write. I would watch that over the Cheez its bowl. The Dark's Mayo Bull..

Ryan Seacrest Checks In With Jared Goffs Roomie Patrick During Quarantine

"All right. You know. The football season has begun. And we want to talk with our Rams quarterback. Jared Goff but he is busy. So we figured we talked to his roommate. Who's wearing his Jag cap right now looking pretty cool coming to us live from the. Patrick. Jared. Where they live together and they've been together for months and months of Corentin Patrick who also works in the Sales Department of Iheartradio Good Morning how you been Patrick I've been well and this you guys. been working from home for the company Yeah, I've been home since. March thirteen whenever we all left the office then president and how has it been quarantining with Jared Goff? It's been good It's definitely been a long time each. Stage has been a little bit different but we made the most of it. Yeah and when you say the most of it, what did you do to kill time? I'd say like a beginning we're doing like we leave the house this puzzle anything we can find around like or games VR anything we hanafin. To. Do. You play muscles. Puzzles I'd so cute. Dalmatian. Dog Puzzles or. One woman wants a dog. One of them was like a city like skyline talk. About everything now. They have like mini golf in the backyard to do. We have many like whole par-three Kinda hold. That's like downhills on hard knocks. Pretty so that kept US occupied hard knocks. Got Into I didn't realize they add new episodes every week I watched like in a row and say, oh, that's it. And this this year was a little bit different because there was no preseason game. So they didn't get into a lot of that stuff, but I thought was pretty good. So Patrick Conroy, Giorgos roommate, how is our quarterback feeling about? No rehearsals before the great on they did some scrimmages within within their team at so stadium which looks amazing by the way I don't know if you guys gotta channel my Gosh I can't believe we can't go to it. You know. That's painful. But it's still it's still going to be a great season without fans will still good on TV that's for sure and Patrick I understand jared Goff's on a new diet. Yes he started a new diet just kind of. Get himself feeling better looking better So I think that this should be good for the coming season on my refrigerator I put my inspiration and I've got pictures of David Beckham and I've got others up there. You know my fashion inspiration, my physique inspiration on ever get there but I liked the visual does he have a on your refrigerator? Does he have Tom Brady or somebody up on the? Pretty clean on the outside. But? No I think definitely what what he's done with his body has been great and off season. So be ready to go nobody would know it better than his roommate. What has he done with his body and it's off season. Now, here's here's. Like that? No no no. No you don't explain yourself. You do look cooler since you've been spending more time at home. Doesn't he? He's got an a Totally. Swag. In out right. Swag too when you knew us, what are those footballs in the background those footballs yeah. Those rolled his This is like their the office in his name balls from his office. Are you in his career? Where are you? This is the office we all like switch off doing zoom calls. Oh, you. Throughout here I got tour. Drawers in the bedside tapers yeah. Yeah. Laptop takes around the house we got. We got some serious. This is what's great about jared and his roommate Patrick. They're doing good things for people and I was reading here jared recently donated a million backpacks to the Inglewood School district and in March donated two, hundred, fifty, thousand dollars to the Regional Food Bank dealt families deal with the pandemic. Yes. So he's he's done a lot of that stuff. You also relaunched brand which last year on my brought in a couple of teachers but it was just the logo before, and now he got the team that kind of made a couple more clothing options for everybody more like a rather than just a logo So he's donating all his arrays, all the procedure going to the Unified Inglewood unified, school district that has of the brand merch items. Yeah that's awesome. Senior. J. G. for Jared Goff but then it looks like the number. Sixteen. Doesn't have like. A little bit of colored as to differentiate the sixteen or JD in the sixteen. But this is just a black and white or Bra I I will contribute to the costs I would love I'm going to buy one of those hats I like that. Yeah. That's really great. We'll Patrick thank you so much for coming on. Glad that you n our quarterback at the Rams Jared Golf doing well together, and I don't know when we'll see in person but we'll definitely talk this season Bre Housi- film about playing with. No fans. I think it's an he's in different I mean obviously it's not going to be the same vibe in the stadium, but you still gotta handle the business on field so whether our fans are not, it's kind of the same mentality.

Meet Chad Steele, aka the guy behind Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Ray Lewis at Super Bowl

"Know, watching the TV Sunday night. And once again, I see the ravens vice president of public relations front and center in the center of the football universe again. And I said we have to get Chad on this week's Adam Schefter podcast. He must be on honored. Well, I mean, it's incredible. What has happened for those of you who are now listening basically CHAD'S job during the year is to work with the Baltimore Ravens? But Super Bowl week. He becomes the media liaison for are you signed to a player or a team. Fair. So during the week there are a number of us that are there to help league out with credentialing radio row know kinda point media in the right direction opening night that Monday night were assigned to a player. I had Tom Brady on Monday night. And then we're time to a player after the which again I had Brady. So it's it's it's flit up between between people. I just so happened to have I think is, sir. Certified time I've had Tom when when they've been in there. So we're we're we're kind of developing a little bond and you had Tom three or four times yet Peyton Manning after the Broncos won the Super Bowl Ray Lewis after the ravens won the Super Bowl. It seems like you always have the star attraction. How does that happen? You know, I don't know where they're like. I said they invite a few of us down kind of some of the heads of department from around the league to help out all week. And then we have some young kids some interns that are looking for jobs, and some some younger systems coordinators that are that are looking to expand the horizons a little bit and down there for the week. And then we just we get the game assignments. And I think the first one that I had when I worked at Super Bowl outside of of the ravens when was was Russell Wilson in in New Jersey a few years ago. And you know, I got a quarterback. I think maybe my side helps you know, that I'm a bigger guy, and I can get out there and kinda kinda move the people through but just ever since. Then I've I've had quarterbacks I think I think six along right now, the only the only loss at what I had I had cast year when the when the eagles beat them, but I pretty decent record. So there you are on Sunday night. The patriots win the Super Bowl. Tom Brady is stormed by the media, Tracy Rolston of CBS is trying to get in to get that interview from your perspective. And you were the only one that appeared in that show with Tracy in Tom, it was Tracy Wilson, Tom Brady, and Chad steal. What was that scrum? Like for you. You know, I it's just it's interesting because Tom pulled in a hundred directions, and you know, we're talk to CBS CBS wanted to try to get the interview pretty quickly. But as soon as you're out there, you're Tom celebrating a little bit than teammates coming up, then have coaches coming up, and he wants to make sure he's very good about making sure he gives respect to the to the opposing team. So they wanna make sure saw Jared golf, and there were a couple of other players that want to see and it's kinda hey, Tom over here can Tom over here. And we're like, hey, Tom, you know, got Tracy right here. Okay. Hold on. I just wanna see this guy. And then as soon as that's done. Somebody else comes up somebody else comes up, but he's he's kinda pulled in a million directions. And we're just saying that hey, trace you just just hang tight hang with us. We'll we'll we'll get them there.
