"The question was, for me, is the lion's offensive line really good or is the packers pass rush just really weak? And I was hoping that 2019 first round pick rashawn Gary would make an impact in this game. He really didn't. He had two quarterback hits, zero sacks. Jared Goff had time for days in the pocket. And in two games, penny sewell has been dominant as a rookie left tackle, not a right taco but a left tackle on that left side, he's been fantastic. Fun to watch there. Unfortunately, Jared Goff, the lion's new quarterback. Man. He legitimately had a great first half. Jared Goff had, you know, the lines of all four times in the first half. They scored on three of their four drives. Jared Goff looked early in this game, looked really, really good. He had two touchdowns, including a beautiful throw in the back corner of the left side of the end zone to tight end TJ Hawkins. And just a great throw on a wheel route into the end zone. But in the second half, Jared Goff wilted and really, really struggled is really frustrating because he had two fumbles. He fumbled the snap in The Rain, which under center. I guess it can happen, but you have to practice that. And then the ball fell out of his hands when he was throwing the ball. It was a third and third and two or third and three, I can't remember. Third down, key play late in the game and he was pulling the ball back to throw and it just fell out of his hands. And it was wet, I get it. In fact, that's happened to me before right at practice that happens occasionally. But still, it's like, Jared Goff, this can't happen in a key moment. And then later in the fourth quarter,.

Philadelphia Eagles trade QB Carson Wentz to Indianapolis Colts for two draft picks
"Story of the day. The Eagles have traded quarterback Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts and oh my goodness. It made me very happy. I was so excited. There's a lot to unpack. I want to start though by mentioning a weird thing first. In the 2016 NFL draft the number and overall pick was Jared Goff. The number two overall pick was Carson Wentz. And both have been traded away from the teams. They were drafted by 19 days apart. Just a weird quick doesn't happen very often the guy a number and overall pick a number 2 overall pick gets traded away. Especially not the quarterback position. Let alone almost in just over two weeks apart from each other. That's crazy. Pretty wild now after the trade the Eagles have a 33.8 Million Dead money. Salary cap charge for the 2021 NFL season what that means I will get into that in a minute. First of all, that's actually by the way the most ever to have dead money cap. I guess charge or penalties by an NFL team. It's so much that I actually thought that might keep the Eagles from trading cars and stuff like that might be so much of a penalty. They're not even getting rid of the guy sounds like they did. I thought it's good for everybody Carson Wentz wanted out they I think we're you know, we'll talk about Jalen hurts in a minute, but I thought it was good to get Carson out of there. It is also kind of weird and interesting I talked about Jared Goff previously very briefly the other the the record for the most amount of dead money against the salary cap was Jared Goff. The Rams amount is 22.2 million dollars off. Beat 19 days later by the Carson Wentz trade what is dead money? You may ask it's basically all the guaranteed money the Eagles still owe Carson Wentz after the trade. So even though Carson is no longer on their team. He still creates a thirty three point eight million dollar cap hit for next year. So over thirty-three million dollars off of the salary cap has taken up for Philadelphia. They cannot use that money for other players. It's weird. It's interesting. It's never that's again the most ever pretty interesting. I was surprised that you know, they still trade off a given that but in the trade the Colts got Carson Wentz so the cold they get their quarterback that the replacement Philip Rivers the replacement for Andrew Luck. I'm happy for the Colts man. They've they've Way to make it work. They lost in Turlock. They had to scramble the Mage Jacoby Brissett work for a year. They made Philip Rivers work for a year. Now. They've got what they believe is their franchise guide Carson Wentz good for them. The Eagles got a 2001 third-round pick for the upcoming NFL draft and a conditional 2022 second-round pick and here's what's really cool. The condition. Is that if Carson Wentz plays 75% off Kohls offensive snaps for next year if it stays healthy place the whole year or you know, it's good enough to be the starter all years and get benched. Then that draft pick goes from a second round pick in 2022 to a first-round picks. Oh, wow. I like about that. People are saying the Eagles got a horrible trade. They got fleeced. It's terrible. Oh my goodness. You gotta realize this is probably the best trade they could possibly find the Eagles traded away Carson Wentz a guy who has an injury history has been injured repeatedly over the years. He's coming off of a horrible season where he was so bad the dude got benched for Jalen hurts a rookie quarterback Club. So the fact that Philadelphia made a trade where they have an opportunity to get a first-round pick that's impressive to me. I think people realize that's the best they were going to get so anybody criticizing Philadelphia you did not realize how I think how little value Carson Wentz really had on the market people like nobody really wants him. I think JJ Watts getting a ton of attention Carson Wentz people are very wary. And I think it's really what's really disappointed me. Is that the Bears didn't get him. What did the Bears did the Bears not want him? I don't understand. Maybe they're trying to John Watson feel like the Bears really lost here. They still got home key who Carson Wentz has problems I think is way better than Mitchell trubisky. So debate that all you want. I don't know how you go. Like. Oh the Bears they got a great quarterback still trubisky. I like it. I think another thing people got realize is that I love the trade for Carson Wentz. He's going to a way better team he gets to play for his former offensive coordinator Frank back in 2017 the best year Carson Wentz ever had in the NFL. He was a before he got hurt. He was an MVP candidate playing under Frank Reich. He's reuniting with that guy that's going to be awesome to got a great relationship and EM the Colts have a great offensive line. They've got to get running game. They've got a great defense Carson Wentz is being put into a great situation. If he does not do well then there's no excuse. You can make he's got great great team around him good support good people. He's getting helped.

And we end up winning in our draft picks that we're giving up are going to be low draft picks, and I think that that's what's going to happen. I think the Rams got the better into this deal. If Stafford stays healthy, maybe Well, he is the only thing that would prevent it from staying healthy would be the Detroit Lions because he got beat up there. All right. I think the guy is one of the better quarterbacks to ever play in the leak. I think he's easily in the modern era Top 10 quarterback without question, And I think he makes the Rams I mean Woods Cup. We knew that a deal was coming this week because there were reports on saturday that the lions were expecting to get a deal done by tuesday which is essentially when it comes to the nfl their way of saying. He's like, Yeah, the talks are hot and heavy, and it's like what Dan Campbell I have no idea what that really means The guys accountable, but You know, it was hot. It was heavy. So we got this big deal. There's a lot to dissect there. We'll figure out what Dodge Coin is. Maybe we'll just get all the current events in. Here's a fun one for yourself. Oh, this is this is fun. There's so many different elements to these deals to get into for each team. What it means for the league. There's the dish on Watson element, of course. And what does this mean for him? What does his value look like? So? So let's start going through all of the big, confusing, crazy mess that is Matthew Stafford getting swamped. For Jared Golf, and And Here's the first thing that I really take away from this. Is This is a hell of an indictment on Jared Golf. Okay, This is a bad look. Because you have to think of the circumstances around this and for a franchise to give up on a quarterback that's younger. That has gotten them to a Super Bowl. But they did give a big contract to recently. For them to give away this guy and for the way that they did it. Because you look at the package and you might say, Well, Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff. Okay, uh, Stafford's probably better than golf. I don't know if if that's such a great deal, but I want to get rid of that. Jared got fine, but but here's the thing. It's not just Matthew Stafford For Jared Goff. There's a third round pick this year. There's a first round pick from the Rams next year. There's a first round pick from the Rams the year after that. Because the Rams live in some world were first round picks are not valuable or useful or something they're interested in. So they said, Yeah, you know, this is the Dodge Coin. There we go. See, now we're really working it in this the Dodge coin of draft stock, and we're gonna move it. And and that's the thing the Rams had to add all of these draft picks in to get rid of Jared Guff. It's not just throwing all of this in to get Stafford. It's not that Stafford is so overwhelmingly good that he's worth a third end two first round picks, but Jared Goff with his contract is somebody that is not all that valuable. And so you're not just paying for Stafford, your paying the lions to take Jared Goff off of your hands. Which doesn't happen often. We don't see these kinds of deals, especially quarterback in the NFL. The last time this happened was what Brock Osweiler, which not exactly success story, so Looking at Jared Goff here for the Rams to do that. Here's the thing. That guy you think about this. Jared Goff just a couple of weeks ago wasn't like three weeks ago. He wanna play off game against the Seattle Seahawks with a broken thumb. He wasn't even did surgery on it. He wasn't supposed to use the backup in that game. He came in because the backup got hurt in the first couple of plays John Woolford. And God comes in, and he's not supposed to play. But he beat Seattle. They went 30 to 20. It's a nice story. You know, it's it's a big game. It's a big win. So that guy Just a couple of weeks later, they're paying another team to take him off of their hands. So that's a massive indictment. You've also got just the idea that organizations don't like giving up on quarterbacks, even when they're not great. Her cousins was getting towards the end of his deal. Grazed her cousins, right? Is he? Is he an amazing quarterback? Is he? Somebody could move on from? Absolutely you could totally move on from Kirk cousins. Well, Vikings didn't move on from Kirk Cousins. They decided to keep that guy because even if he's not amazing if you're letting a decent quarterback go, you don't always believe that you're gonna be able replace that. But the Rams were like, Yeah, Let's let's just give up everything. Just give up a bunch of stuff. And let's go and get Matthew Stafford. So for Shawn McVeigh, the guy who, you know, offensive mastermind or not, however, you wanna look at him. I think he's a pretty damn good coach. You look at Sean McVeigh and for him to look at golf and the guy that he's been paired with. It's his first head coaching gig. This the first quarterback. He's with its of marriage, right? Oh, what a lovely marriage and then it falls apart pretty quickly, and now he's out of town. That's an indictment. Right, so looking at the value of Jared Goff, and here's the interesting thing it It just seems to confirm what everybody's really felt about Jared Goff, Sometimes there's There's conversations that we have his fans right for people who've watched the game followed the game obsess about the game. And the way we talk about it and look at it is going to be different. Sometimes, then the league than insiders, you know they value the player differently, for whatever reason, they but they might. There might be a disconnect between what we see on the outside of what people see within the lake. This was a pretty strong indictment that we're all on the same page here. Jared Goff. Just isn't that good? And here's the other thing that we'll get to this more a little bit later, but Don't see him getting any better in Detroit. So if your Lions fan and by the way, if you're lions ban a Rams fan like especially it, I'll take calls from anybody If you want to get in to talk about this, But I would love to hear from some lions and Rams fans about this. I mean, how do you feel about these moves? 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 to tie joins show 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 because again the number one thing I've got from this is it's an indictment on Jared Guff, and part of it is, It's not that McVeigh. It's not just that McVeigh's giving up on him that they're doing it as the contract is kicking in that they're paying things. Get rid of him. But also Jared Goff is what the problem is really? And it's weird that it worked out this way. But the problem was the Super Bowl. Jared Goff getting to the Super Bowl and getting crushed the way he did. I mean, how bad was that Super Bowl? Right. That was That was the first time in my life like there's been games where it's been a blowout, and it hasn't been super entertaining. But you had moments and as the score is getting run up like the Seahawks dominated the Broncos like eight years ago, and that was fun for a half. That Super Bowl was awful, and part of it was golf was just shaky. He's up and down. You don't know exactly what you're going to get for a guy that's supposed to be the system quarterback. You want stability. You want consistency. You want reliability. When this guy's going to start you want to go?.

The Rams have been working on this for a few days now in the Detroit Lions really wanted to get this done and resolved as soon as possible, and there were other teams involved in the process as well, but it quickly became apparent. That the Los Angeles Rams wanted Matthew Stafford as badly as Matthew Stafford wanted them. Matthew Stafford was drawn to the idea that he was playing for Chamakh. They in the Rams offense with those weapons in that city, and that stadium, which host the Super Bowl next season, and obviously became quickly apparent. That those two sides wanted it to work and the Detroit Lions once they got all that compensation and return, keep in mind, they get back the former number one overall pick Jared Goff. They get to future first round picks a third round draft pick. Ah, lot of picks for Matthew Stafford, who they were going to trade anyway. It worked on all ends for all sides, and they agreed to the deal which cannot be processed. Told a new league year begins in the middle of March. Listen, it's never too much to give up for a quarterback that you believe in. Sean McVeigh is getting a quarterback that he's identified and studied at length already over the last couple of weeks. That he believes will be a star in L. A. Keep in mind. The Lions. New general manager is Brad Homes, Brad Homes formally off the Rams personnel department. He knows Jared Goff very well. And Dan Campbell, the lines New head coach, also looked at Gotham as somebody they wanted. So the Rams get the quarterback they want. Planter Chamakh Fay, the Lions get a quarterback that they know well to take over from Matthew Stafford, and they now will have double ones after this year in each of the next two years, Not to mention the throwing around pick in this year's draft way, always thought that this would be an unprecedented movement of quarterbacks during the off season and already We haven't gotten to the Super Bowl, where a week away from the Super Bowl, and we've already seen two former number one overall picks trade teams. The Detroit Lions get in addition to Gary God Not one but two future first round draft picks. At a third round draft pick as well. I'm getting reaction here on Twitter. I'd love to get reaction on my plant 855 to 124227. I think this is an over pay by the Rams. Knows Matthew Stafford is a very well respected quarterback. And most people suggest that the reason why he and I have won the same exact amount of playoff games. That would be goose egg to goose egg, um, that it's everybody else. Accept Matthew Stafford as to why the Lions have for decades under Stafford's run, have not been able to win a playoff game. I readily acknowledged that Matthew Stafford has not had a lot of help in Detroit, but I also believe that there's something to not being able to get your team. Over the top, and he just hasn't been able to do that. Yes, He's got a very good young head coach who was considered an offensive guru in L. A. How about the quarterbacks? So that didn't make it? How about the quarterbacks that just recently lost to those four quarterbacks? Those who are quarterbacks with Mark Jackson. Who ended up going down to Josh L. You have Baker Mayfield, who ended up going down to the Kansas City. How about those cheese? You had Jared Goff, his football team going to the frozen tundra. And losing to the Green Bay Packers and Drew Brees with this three interceptions. And what probably was his final NFL game, Drew Brees losing to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in New Orleans on his home turf. At the Superdome. So let's start with God. And you hear some reports about how Goff and McVeigh the relationship is not moving in the right direction. And this is the first time that you really have ever heard. Any rumblings or any rumors that maybe that relationship is not in a good spot. Not that long ago That team was in a Super Bowl. They really emerged onto the scene. They got to the supervisor that made the playoffs the year before, but McVeigh turned around the career, Jared Goff. Cosmic. They are golf was originally drafted by the Jeff Fisher regime. So make they comes in there. They get to the playoffs with golf. Then the next year, they're in the Super Bowl. Last year. They lost their way. We saw Jared Goff not play well, and they still were not a horrible football team. If there were seven playoff teams like there are this year, they would have been the seven seed in the NFC. So you had Jared Golf last year nine of a good year. Woolford helped win the game where the Cardinals they had their own quarterback problems. They're they're all injury problems. But then for that wild card game, they went with Woolford up against the Seahawks instead of Jared Golf, and maybe the injury factored into that. Or maybe it was just convenient to say with wolf forgetting the W last week him adding a running dimension to a game without creative McVeigh is Maybe they just trusted John Woolford more Now, if I had to lean either way, I would probably say it was more towards the injury factor. But for that game, they went into that playoff game without even having Blake Bortles. On the active roster they may have enacted before the game, so they went into that game. Knowing John Wolford's gonna be our starting quarterback Jared Goff is gonna be the backup, and he's only gonna be used for emergency purposes. If John Wolfe for got hurt. Not that time. You're not expecting John Wolfe for to get hurt as a football coach, you gotta prepare for every situation. So I would have thought they would have had another quarterback ready to go because what happens in full for gets hurt, then golf gets in the game, which did happen. I don't know golf. They did win the game and he played all right. For what the circumstances are one hit away, especially with that injury with the thumb or another injury that could occur and boom goes as a gay man who would have been at quarterback for the Rams. So I'm gonna be fascinated by how this offseason his approach. And I know they have the commitment to the contract. Here's all set. So I think, Jared, God's not gonna be a starting quarterback come week one next year. Barring injury, he will be The question is, is there going to be a short leash? One does McVeigh say? This relationship is not where it needs to be, and we have to upgrade the quarterback position. Because it keeps on going and waves One week he looks really good. Then you see 23 bad weeks, then a week after that good then a week of average play average play bad good. Never look at Jared Goff as a game changer. I never look at Jared Goff is a franchise quarterback, and I think that's a problem. McVeigh. I don't think he's going anywhere. Do. "So there's been a lot of talk you know. Mcvay doesn't criticize a lot of people. And even when he does he's chose to sugar coat and everything's on the table so you may have heard. Essentially he said saturday after the playoff loss to the packers that jared goff quarterback right now with the emphasis on the last two words there sunday. He said everything's on the table but maybe he was giving us an indication that this was happening and things were bubbling a couple of weeks ago. Go back to their first playoff game. There wildcard game against the seattle seahawks key. This is just me speculating. You tell me having been in so many locker rooms and having dealt with so many situations right that game john. Wolford is starting quarterback. Jared goff is the number two quarterback with a thumb injury. This is important. there is no number. Three quarterback blake bortles inactive. So if john wolford where to get injured during the game which actually happened very scary neck injury ambulance came out. Then jared goff would presumably have to come in for the next snap and with no number three quarterback he would have to presumably play the rest of the game. So help me understand. If you're in a situation where wolfer gets hurt on the second snap. Hypothetically fourth snap the game. You've got a rush right in there and likely finished the game because nobody is behind you on the depth chart if you were healthy enough to do that. Play almost every single. Snap of a game if something goes wrong with the starter right out of the gate which is exactly what happened. How in the world are you not healthy enough to start. I think look in the end. It's all about numbers. If they put three quarterbacks up the somebody else has to go down and on an active list. And maybe they wanna. I don't know what they wanted. But maybe they want an extra defense alignment or extra offense alignment or whatever the case may be also when you didn't have the necessary reps throughout the course of the week for jared goff as he was practicing because of the surgery they kind of eased him alone in kind of wanted to let it heal but he was forced in action so therefore the you had no other choice.

Wolford hasn't taken any snap during practice this week and it's thursday but in the nfl world is really friday because these teams play saturday. And so john. Let's get real about the fake crowd noise at NFL games
"Revisit the Rams and Seattle Seahawks game. I hated watching the Seahawks game because it was there are so many moments where the crowd fake crowd noise was really really loud above the broadcasters like Tom and all these trying to talk on the sidelines and you couldn't hear him cuz a stupid fake crowd noise, which is even weirder cuz you know that the people on the sidelines Jared Goff Russell Wilson, he came backed up. They don't hear fake crowd noise only people watching the game on T. Hear the fake crowd noise. I hate it so much. I'd rather honestly hear the noise of people on the sidelines. Or people at the line of scrimmage yelling. I was going crazy at one point on the sidelines. We couldn't hear the guy at all cuz of the fake crowd noise and I A friend of mine from high school plays for the LA Rams and I'm going to wait till he retires to ask him this question, but I want to have them on the Shelf someday to be like hey, what do you like to play a playoff game with an empty Stadium? I know the NFL doesn't really seem to answer that question just yet. There's a reason why you haven't heard anybody complaining about it, but I'm so desperate to know like what's it like to play in NFL game? I'll be damned meaningful playoff game a meaningful NFL game with nobody in the crowd and you can hear everything. It sounds like an empty gymnasium or an empty gym.
