"Did was the idea then too because I mean you've said before that the film, the Caitlyn eels character in the film is named Amy and reflects you in a very serious way to go right away that you wanted to make something that kind of put a proxy for you right in the center of it. Yes. I mean cait- Caitlin Caitlin shields might proxy all the time but. But in these different in a very different way, 'cause 'cause you know as a writer or at least the way the I right sort of excavated parts of myself a lot of times I. It's more way more interesting to sort of excavate the volt you have. And then and then push them to their limits like I'm not saying like in Sendai giants not like I'm GonNa kill somebody or you know but taking this little piece of me and like really like twisting and allowing spin out. But with that with sunshine or the girlfriend experience, even there's pieces of being all these things, the decisions that I that I was making, you can't even other pieces of me you can't make Gaam? Every decision personal because at some point, the character takes over so you can't do this because the character wouldn't do this. In, but in this particular, because I was exploring Sunday I didn't really know how to quite put into words that it was all this much more visceral feeling in much more Ito. It was it was for me. It was beyond words and I was trying to explore it that I didn't WanNa get trapped in our character I. Guess in a traditional sense I wanted to kate and Jane in all of us to feel the freedom to access the feeling as opposed to what this character would do next. You mentioned Sunshine Golfing experience a you know obviously, golfing experience was a major undertaking. But why was it eight years between? A. Feature Film Directing for you. Did you try to get anything going in that interim or is just the right time for this movie? I try to get a few things going, but I but you know the. Creating series in writing a series is extremely time consuming. So when Stephen asked me to do the groping experience, it was round twenty thirteen had been acting on the killing and Wednesday finished that started writing the growing experience in it wasn't until was in two thousand thirteen, and once we got the green light to write all of the episodes which was sometime in twenty fourteen than we started writing all the episodes emily finished by the end of twenty fourteen in the started shooting the girlfriend experience in Twenty fifteen..
Biden leads in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania due to COVID concerns
"Election. Now, our new battleground tracker poll says Joe Biden leads President Trump in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. CBS's elections and surveys Director Anthony Salvant hotels face a nation what this says for the election, and when you look at what's changed since 2016 Donald Trump won these states Based on a lot of voters who were looking for change when they look back. Now they tell us this is not necessarily what they expected. In fact, more say that things have gone worse then things have gone better, and that's kind of your classic voting calculus and play right now. Well, the

"WanNa Start where I always start which is how how if I ask you about be spiritual background of your childhood of your earliest life. However, you understand that word now where does that memory take you? Well I wouldn't have thought of anything spiritual when I was a child. Now my grandfather was a congregational minister. I never met him. We mom my sister. Came to live in this house for I. Am now with my grandmother and Moms two sisters. So was he the husband? Of Danny? Was He that other of your grandmother you call Danny as? He was the husband of Danny. I wish I'd met him because he sounds completely wonderful, but I didn't and so we sometimes went particularly religious. And I love to spend most of my time outside in the garden was pre television, pre laptops, cellphones another event. And so we had. Books and imagination a nature. So I learned a lot from nature I was outside. And I, love climbing. Trees had special tree which I'm looking at right now be. Spend hours and hours up beach. Feeling chose to the sky and the buds. I. Suppose that was the chose this to some kind of spiritual feeling nature. That I had I wouldn't have thought of it as that that time. Right you've. You've said that you really feel like you. Loved animals and loved nature I think from the womb onwards a woman would. My first serious observation of animals was four and a half when I waited for hours to see a headland. Tackling Systemic Racism in the Fashion Industry
"I everybody and welcome to today's be O. F. Live event. I'm Lauren Chairman Be Offs Executive Editor and I'm joined today by Brandis Daniel Chief Executive of Harlem's fashioned row Sandrine Charles founder of Sandrine. Charles. Consulting Henrietta Galina Brandon creative consultant, and today we're GONNA be talking about a really important topic always but you know especially in the last few months, how to tackle system racism in fashion it's a really big question I'm sure we'll only. Get Two to one or two points here. But but we want to do as much as we can, and in this hour that we have what I wanted to do I is for each of you to introduce yourselves and what you do in your own activists as well. So maybe talk a bit about what you've been working on in the last couple months as the civil rights movement has really come to the forefront in the US, Henrietta maybe we can start with you. I, everyone I'm Lena. I am a direct up by way of saying have been in the fashion industry for. About fifteen years now. What can range of. Brands. DIFFERENCE CASS grades. and. So. My wife is always been rooted increase efficiency inclusions I've asked. My wife tens of mocks stories. An image making and I would say, miss recently I WANNA be. confounds the cut initiative which Let's have a appoint Yucky. Great. Thank you brandis. What about you? I am the. Founder Pearl Fashion Row and icon sixty Harlem's fashion row has been doing this work thirteen years we on started really kinda focusing on designers of color in creating opportunities for them, connecting them with brands, press, and with consumers as well. we've also done several brand collaborations have been a great way to really bring diversity to brands who who may not have had. It were win couvert hit on the pandemic. We started a nonprofit icon sixty, which is basically a fine or designers of collar and We've been able to raise thanks to the NBA took over a million dollars in donations for designers of. Car. It sandrine last but not least I am. Sandrine. Charles of I have been working in the industry for thirteen years. Now, I own Sandrine Charles Salting, which is a week. Calms and Everything encompassing that agency her fashion and lifestyle brands. In addition, I'm the founder alongside Lindsay People's or the black and fashion council. Thank you offer for sharing that so. I think to start. This is a really big question, but obviously, the civil rights movement that's happening right now has been. Very prominent in the news in the last month, it's obviously never not existed but it suddenly. You know the fifteen percent pledge. Protest every single day. Brands are really saying I. WanNa make a difference they're publicly. Saying I'm going to do all these things to be more diverse, etc, etc. Now, a lot of their ex employees or or. You know. Consumers are calling them out for not practicing what what they are are pre chain and I'm curious to know from you all your all veterans in this industry you've you've witnessed this the systemic racism that is particular to fashion. What what do you think? The biggest issue is Ashen and that we can start working on or You know people are already working on but what is the? Biggest point that we need to tackle in order to start fixing all the little problems that have come out of this. Don't know if one of you wants to start. I'll. Brand half. Start I think on what Sandrine Lindsay is doing is asking with the Black Fashion Council asking brands to actually put a quantitative solution in place it's the same thing that Aurora Jane tasked with a fifteen percent pledge i. think the brands have to fully commit and the way that they can fully commit being you know here's exactly what we're going to do. So when you say I want my sales to get better you don't say go out to your. Team and say, you know what we want better cells next year what you do is you say WanNa ten percent increase we want to fifteen percent increase you know right so you create very clear goals so that you know if you're successful in meeting those goals or not successful meeting notes and if you're not successful, there are things you put in place to make sure you overcome that in me that all it's the same thing with this rain so I think. The first thing that Branston do is say, what is our commitment? What is our our firm commitment? Let's start with a very clear commitment and work our way back because my fear is that if we just start having conversations in conversation is a really key piece to this in having with lack people in non black people ruling to have honest dialogue. But my fear is that if we're only talking is the passion Unin die down in another. Year and I. think that's Oliver Fear Rate. But if you put a very clear plan in place and you say, this is what these are the numbers. We're GONNA hit across our organization that means in our leadership and on our boards because let's talk about boards and how they're barely any black people boards. There's only one black. CEO in the entire fashion industry. So that's just say what are we gonNa do across the Board in our organization? And then you work backwards from the air and doing what you have to do to to meet that goal.

"The growth in small label wines with those kinds of images I think we might have talked about this I'm not a big fan of hot sauces myself but I have student a hot sauce shop for like an hour reading the wall because the names of the hot sauces are hilarious. You know what I mean it's like. See Dick cry seem Jane you know. Die See spot or. Acid space or something like that. You ought to be where somebody's flaming it. That's where those cool things at went when he get people a chance to like do something distinctive and hilarious even if it's only a thousand print ron as you want to call a bottle a print run, I just love that level of creativity or that look in Joe or whatever it might be. The today's world we get that people can do those creative things and do that stuff and get their own little brand and you know so it it is a benefit of today's world.
Getting Naked in San Francisco: A History
"Who other than reporter just plot check could take on this not safe for work assignment off she goes from. The state of California has indecent exposure laws, but those only apply if someone is being sexual like masturbating in public or intentionally offensive flashing someone. But what if you're just hanging out naked minding your own business? California leaves that up to local governments. For the first half of the Twentieth Century San Francisco didn't have public nudity laws. FRISKIN S- just didn't go nude much but then the sixties arrived and with it naked people. Some saw disrobing as a form of political artistic or personal expression college students got a taste for streaking and then there were the hippies. It's just delightful to be in I'll be in and that's what this is another exotic prank to add to a growing list of student oriented rites of Spring. It's sort of a happy happening for hippies in San Francisco hippies wanted to get closer to nature and they got naked a lot in golden gate park. Here's a quote from police chief. Thomas Hill it wasn't uncommon for a Gal that come out of the bushes there in the. Panhandle. Without a damn stitch and stand right in front of you with our hands up. I was out in the park in two started going to it on the lawn beside me just to remind you sex is sexual and as such already illegal according to the state. But still conservatives wanted tougher local laws to prevent this kind of behavior and they eventually got nudity banned in the parks. However, the rest of San Francisco was still fair game. As time passed other cities made public nudity illegal among them, San Jose, and Berkeley Berkeley's interesting because it's been mostly due to one naked Guy Andrew Martinez a student at the University of California Berkeley. Decided that American society is sexually repressed and in an effort to write things he began attending classes and going everywhere else in the nude save for a pair of sandals backpack people theorized that Martinez was able to go nude without major complaint for so long because he was easy on the is Martinez attempted shock tactic soon, became old news among his fellow students to me was simply the naked guy. Administrators however sent Martinez home to stay warm until his case can be considered by a student conduct board in Nineteen ninety-two Martinez was expelled showed up naked to his disciplinary hearing at UC. Then in one, thousand, nine, hundred, three here arrived naked to a Berkeley city council meeting members were offended and voted to make public nudity a misdemeanor crime. Back in San Francisco Nudist, enjoy their time in the Sun City developed a reputation for bodies in the buff especially at certain public events like folsom street fair a leather fetish festival or Beta breakers of rambunctious twelve k race who was an exhilarating experience people on the sidelines cheering. Go naked people go. All right. This is a rich Pasco in nineteen, ninety eight he started running naked in Beta breakers. Pasco is also the coordinator of the Bay Area Nature rests we're group of people who believe that the human body is God's divine creation nothing to be ashamed of, and that our interaction with Mother Nature is enhanced by removing the barrier of clothing. POSCO says it wasn't just public events where people could let it all hang out there also newt approved beaches in certain places where nudists would congregate lose a group of people in San Francisco who thought that going new to Jane Warner Plaza would be a good idea. It's that plaza in the Castro with a few benches where the streetcar stops, it's a little urban park. In this little urban park became an urban nude beach,
Dallas Fuel is Making Changes
"Have had a shakeup in one of the premier teams and when I say premier teams I mean. Fan Base Wise. A lot of lot of people have been asking and looking at this for I, would say since the beginning of overwatch leak and that's The Dallas fuel have officially I think have turned the page and already to look forward to to changing things. Just in the matter of one week, they have dropped their head coach will all go order first off, they dropped a k. to came on the team for the most part. A lot of people thought he was going to be a starter. Really. Kinda he was more of a bench player when it turned out a lot of people upset saying you're wasting his talent. Blah Blah Blah. We'll came out this week. The heaters straight up stopped practicing. He didn't want to work with the team anymore. So micra fell now the C. G. O. Chief Gaming Officer operator whatever the acronym was I forget which is basically a fancy way of saying he's the top GM. Like he is now like, yes, they have a GM of the team in Tasma Oh book. I don't get it to us now. MICRA. Is He's the puppet master of the teams now under the NBA umbrella k. including empire and things like that. He's going to have the final say. So yeah for sure like he's he's going to be the top dog when it comes to making any roster decisions across all of these sports I feel like an through him ultimately, right? Right. So you have that okay, and a lot of people are upset about it. I you know. I get the frustration behind the fuel fans I get it because you came into the Overwatch League season one with you and soul dynasty were touted to be number one like. Know it was going to be one of you. We're going to be the champions of course envy was coming in with fuel use the envy roster plus a couple additional players that were only supposed to make it better. Right. They added Siegel they added ex- qc like how on Earth could it get any worse with them? Obviously, that didn't work out. So the expectations for the fuel have always been high like even though they've been one of the worst teams in the league since it started like even going into season two because they ended season one on a high note. So season to this, is it the fuel are going to change? nope not so much and it's pretty been a rinse and repeat in season three. So. When you have a player especially one that's like kind of a billboard material player saying he's refusing to practice I would have to death wish you like your are tied at that point. Yeah. You're out like there is no and if I was an owner, right if I was GM, there's like no negotiating with that, right I'm not going to be like, Oh, you don't want to practice to K-. What if we make a starting player? Then would you play pretty please which would you practice then like? You. Asked him be cut like there's not a whole lot you're going to do to convince that type of player. He's not decay is not Alan Iverson right? Like you're not that. Good. So if you were maybe the superstar of the team and you were doing everything will then hey, maybe they'll find a way to make this work not that not practicing is okay but they'll be more willing to resolve whatever the issue is. Manure. Semi contributing at this point in your a nuisance to the team, we're bringing down morale whatever it may be ultimately. That's easy decision to make. Yeah. So there's that and everyone was super pissed about it. Saying you got the you know the players aren't the problem stop stop blaming the players and although I agree to a certain extent then all of a sudden the news drop that dropped Eyraud head coach of the team. Now to me in my opinion longtime coming long-term coming, I've even mentioned it on the show that. The, the fuel were just not creative enough in a game that demands creativity you if you are following the Meta if you're just doing the cookie cutter with the top teams are doing and you're not a top team, you're not gonna all of a sudden beat them at their own game. You have to find a way to be creative and for whatever reason. The fuel just never were they made notoriously horrible in game adjustments in between map adjustments everything like that from the get-go and that was with Jane on the team right I thought it was worse with Jane when he was the assistant coach an Arrow. Look. We've met them. We know him he's a good to there's no doubt about it that he I think the players want to play for him but that doesn't defeat the fact that they weren't playing like they just bought performing and eventually the coach has to fall on that sword and Arrow just avoided that I think a little too long. They found no consistency in any way the season's right in season wind it was a a late run to a meaningless like fourth quarter Ryan. You know when you're already down by twenty one at that point there just wasn't enough there to to redeem that kind of the season one was just a shit show in general for them right from where it was supposed to be you know even last year I it just never really you know we talked about in doing changes making changes in between maps. That's something that you always kind of harped on that they did do enough right new expect you played the fuel like this is what you were going to get. In now, to see him this year, they're sitting, you know thirteen th the towards the bottom of the standings. It was a matter of time like at some point. You gotta just get a fresh look like look Arrow did really good. Would you coaching the World Cup team but he also had the five players in the world right arguello woke up team like showing up for him To, like save his job unfortunately.
Court Unseals Documents in Ghislaine Maxwell Lawsuit
"Unsealed documents show that Jeffrey Epstein was offering advice. Take Elaine Maxwell as latest 2015 despite her lawyer statement that the quarters socialite had no contact with the disgraced financier in a decade. Maxwell's in a federal jail in Brooklyn after her arrest this month on charges of engaging with Epstein in a sex trafficking scheme, she's trying to stop the disclosure of documents that include her sworn testimony in a civil case. Joining me is Bloomberg legal reporter Patricia Hatano, who's been covering the Maxwell case that give us the background on these documents there? This is a prolonged involved. Story goes back here. There was a young woman named Virginia Robert to Frank's, and she says that when she was 16 years old, she encounters going Maxwell at Mar a Lago. Her dad works there, the maintenance man, he gets a job at the law. She's handing out pals and ah lovely woman. British woman comes up to her She's reading a book about massage and offered her a job working for this wealthy man who wants to go looking for a private, Mr She said. She was 16 years old at the time. So she goes to the mansion. If it turns out, she's introduced Jeffrey Epstein and he immediately and Maxwell, she alleges. Forced her to perform sex acts with the two of them program and she became a sex slave she and alleges that was in 1999 2000. So then she ends up. Trying to join a law with victims of Epstein after everything gets his secret plea deal, and she makes him comments about Maxwell publicly and Maxwell coming back and issued a press release in January 2015. She makes pigments and says that this woman is a liar. Would provoke a pram a defamation lawsuit. Dupree, Suze Maxwell for Defamation and Natural gave testimony under oath questioned about the sex trafficking. Judy was very, very aggressive. Her lawyers included David Boy and this guy Bradley, Edward and Pottenger in Florida, and they really went to question Maxwell at people that worked at the stain home in Palm Beach. All kind of allegation. Soju phase allege with force have sex that you have traffic in Spain. This man including alleged princes, possibly Prince Andrew. She named him and Maxwell denies it. So what happens is the stuff was all settled right? On the eve of trial, 2015 losses got settled right before trial, And then the documents were under field. So how did all those sealed documents get unsealed before Jeffrey Epstein's suicide? But after F being gets prosecuted, the Miami Herald goes to ask why this field And the Court of Appeals. Second Circuit Court of Appeals directed that the judge who had originally had the law didn't properly feel you shouldn't have properly field everything. It was improper to keep all the documents from the public. And so that's how we get to this point. The circuit orders last on the order all these documents and fields and all the documents start hitting the docket. And the next day, Jeffrey Epstein is found dead in his jail cell of an apparent suicide. So the document release was sent back to a new federal judge to preside over what properly on field in what should not be properly and field And you can imagine there's all these implications for other people whose names may can't come off other victims who allegedly were there when the trafficking occurred or were also traffic who may not want to have their names come out there like a Jane Doe Juan and a Jane Doe two and no Mortal, Jane Doe and also John Doe. So Judge Preska on July 23rd shelter hearing after you know, Matthew now been charged and says, Okay, let's go and have a hearing about what you get on field, So she ordered the first transfer documents to be unsealed last Thursday night, So that's how we get to the testimony. Maxwell with questioned under oath. The government used the testimony as a basis say stay. She lied and committed two counts of perjury for lying when she claimed she was never present. When Ft may have been sexually abusing, underage girl know, and she'd seen anything like it, she was not aware of that activity, illegal activity no more. President ever witnessing it so that testimony remains under seal because she went for an emergency motion and after the court of Appeals to again stop the release. Thursday night, the 30th so that was on 11th hour stock about part But the rest of the documents hit the docket starting at like 9 30 on Thursday night. How many documents are already out 2000 pages released in August. So that's when we started first seeing these allegations of possible you know Prince Andrew's involvement, some captains of industry more implicated some senators from former president their allegations that were flight records of people who were on the plane. Fear Of Death Is Contagious In The Psychological Thriller 'She Dies Tomorrow'
"Our film critic Justin Chang says, she dies tomorrow feel surprisingly in tune with our present moment of unease. Everything you need to know going into sheet is tomorrow is pretty much right there in the title. This moody and more deadly funny psychological horror film opens on a young. Woman. Who Awakens one morning with a horrifying from edition of doom she believes that she's going to die tomorrow and it sends her into an eerily calm. Almost Zombie like trance. She wanders the rooms of her recently purchased lock home. She plays Mozart's requiem repeatedly on a record player and shops online for an urn to hold her cremated remains. She never explains why she thinks her death is imminent, but the look on her face is so grave and haunted that we find ourselves believing it to. The woman played by the excellent actress Caitlin she'll is named amy. Not. Coincidentally, that's also the name of the filmmaker amy scientists who has said that the movie was inspired by her own experiences with anxiety and her recognition of how easily that panic could affect those around her. And she dies tomorrow the fear of death proves contagious. The mere act telling someone that you're going to die tomorrow is enough to plant the idea that they are going to die tomorrow and so on and so on. The first person amy tells is her friend Jane played with a sharp comic edge by Jane Addams who thinks she's being ridiculous but the seed has been planted by the time Jane stops by her brother's house where a birthday party for her sister in law is in full swing she too has come to believe that she's going to die tomorrow. And once she voices this fear, the other party guests, it's only a matter of time before they also succumb. In the montage you're about to hear Simon's uses thunderously loud music written by Mondo boys and wild strobe lighting effects to achieve startling moments of operatic intensity. I'm going. To die. Tomorrow. Throughout the movie in these feverishly heightened intervals, Simon seems to be expressing level of horror that the characters themselves cannot. Jane's brother and sister in law. That's Christmas Gina and Katie Nolan do panic a little over what will happen to their daughter when they're both gone. But for the most part, everyone here tends to retreat into their own private moods showing little concern for others Jennifer Kim plays a party guest who abruptly breaks off a relationship something she'd been meaning to do for months. Her now ex boyfriend played by tune had been bay does something much more frighteningly impulsive. Interestingly no one really tries to ward off the crisis or even figure out what's going on a sense of futility sets in and stays there. There's something troublingly resonant for me about the characters inertia. Speaking as someone who's able to work from home and hasn't suffered so many have during the pandemic I'm not afraid of dying tomorrow but I recognize something of myself incitements as characters, the ones who retreat into a state of false calm maybe because screaming and expressing how they really feel might be too horrible or flat out exhausting to bear. I don't want to overstate the metaphorical implications of she is tomorrow, which was made well before the pandemic. But Simon's clearly has her finger on something about how people might respond or not respond to an invisible threat. She's made a fascinating disaster movie of the mind. This is the second feature scientists as written and directed seven years after her debut film. The lovers on the run drama sun don't shine. She's worked for more than a decade as an actor writer director and producer rooted in the independent film world, but with increasing forays into Hollywood. She's one of the key creative forces behind the TV series, the girlfriend experience, and you might also have seen her performances in recent studio thrillers like Alien Covenant and Pet cemetery a role that helped her finance this much lower budget horror movie. Depending on your persuasion, don't like she dies tomorrow might not sound like ideal pandemic viewing but I think one of the great virtues of the horror genre is that it can put our own fears into perspective. There can be enormous value in confronting our feelings of dread had on and feeling a sense of kinship with characters who are confronting there's to. Sign it's doesn't provide easy answers. She also doesn't tell us if her characters worries are justified. She closes the movie on a note, picked between serenity and alarm leaving us to wonder if the end is as near as it seems or tomorrow might, in fact, be another day.
How to find (or become) a good CFI
"People keep asking me how to become a better CFI. On how do I get better as a CFO or if you're on the pilot slash students side of it, you can say, what am I looking for when I look for a good? Good CFI. I mean, that's a really tough one to answer honestly because you can. Be Brand new to the game. And you might have had fantastic instruction and you might have. A BIG APPETITE FOR Washington struggle I mean that's not a bad but he might enjoy helping people solve problems. Born teacher and just because you're new doesn't mean you're bad. Without bragging I sort of think that's the situation I was in right I met Richard. I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I was intentionally putting my whole heart into an reteaching some of the stuff that he taught me on and. Certainly Green when I started a lot of mistakes and have corrected a lot of those things since that I still make mistakes. But I think I was a pretty good teacher straight out of the gate. Had A colleague enough for jet blue and I distinctly remember him saying to me one day. He said, Hey, dude, I can't I'm feeling really guilty I can't see my students. For anything, except ours. He was seeing as little our Johnson, his logbook. But even though he was coming from that perspective, he did a pretty darn good job. Right? He he had a sense of responsibility when it came to teaching people and he was doing his best. Now, you can have an old timer who hasn't worked at a flight and Flying School or Fight Club and twenty years. Maybe he has fifteen thousand hours in his logbook but I might be a really bad teacher you know set in his ways not. Not, keeping up with the things that are changing on. This just illustrate how it's not a very simple problem. Certainly from the student pilots to know. If, you've got a good instructor how to find a good instructor if the instructor you're working with this week in any way. But one thing you can ask are certain you know metrics I'd ask how many students that person has put up for a check ride in the last say three years. Or two years, which is the. Recurrent training interval required for CFI's we have to go back for a flight instructor renewal course every two years. And it doesn't have to be a lot. If someone says I put ten people through in two years says something and someone says that but one person two years that's fine to. The point is they're working with an examiner and that's really When I think about that question what makes against the F. I? How do I find a good CFI? And I struggled a look for some common denominator among all of the people I just started described in a two personality types I just. Any one of those things is some version of peer review. That's an extremely important part of the process for everybody. Phase checks, for example. I rely on fees checks heavily on even if it's not an official face check, I love it when my students. Take a lesson I can't be there and I say they want to eat fly with Mary this day or Fly with jaffer whomever it is. It doesn't even really matter what I want from that instructor is one hundred percent honesty no ego involved right? I've been doing this for. Twenty years more than twenty years now, and I want to know if there's holes in my game and I'll give you a great example. You know this is probably five years ago. So there I am fifteen years into Jane. On and I sent a student on a number two as a lesson or a check but he goes out with Jeff Rappaport who jeff was a pretty new CFO at the time he was my instance student. So you had been a relatively museum. and. Jeff comes back and says you know you're seeing it in great on this this this and the other thing. But I noticed that he didn't do after landing checkless. and. You're right. I don't think I'm very militant about after landing checklists. You know if you don't pull check this out for every climb level offer descent on you like white on rice but am I really that diligent about an after landing checklist when the wheels are on the ground over staring at the park probably not and is that a good thing? No. No that's not a good thing. It's a whole that Jeffcott immediately, and then certainly in examiner would catch. Right. So I immediately plugged that hole in my game. Haven't seen the all the time just made a mistake on Patriot regarding night currency requirements and one of the guys on my content team cut in, and we now I call the examiner and get to the bottom of it, but it's that Peer Review I. think that keeps instructors sharp. Keeps instructors current and saying relevant information. I'm in. It also inspires confidence. For the student.
The Bull that (probably) Sires Mostly Bulls
"Breakthroughs in biotechnology. So our guest today is someone who's been with us a number of times probably five or six times. Now, one of our original guests is Dr Alison Venenum and she's a cooperative extension specialist in the Department of Animal Science at the University of California Davis Welcome back Dr. Venenum thank you. Kevin thanks nice to be back. From my bedroom and Davis. I'm working from home to you know and it's it's just really It's been crazy times. But this has been a you're the news from your laboratory is always exciting and it's really cool because I always invite guests at the end of the episode that next time you have something. Cool happen. Let me know we'll get you back up and a few people take me up on that. You have a of times. Today we really WanNa talk about cosmo the ball, and so usually start with the question that you're trying to answer. But let's talk about the punchline who is cosmo in what is so special about him. So cosmo Isabel cough that was born back in April here on UC Davis campus and he is actually a crisper. Bull. So we have been working for about five years now to try to do a gene insertion in bovine embryos and. The result of all of that work and basically represents. The culmination of a lot of effort to. Use a genome editing to do a targeted insertion of Jane in the one cell embryo of of cows, and of course, with cows, you do your experiment, and then you have to wait nine months for the pregnancy. he just happened to time his arrival with a with a global pandemic, and so that added an extra level of excitement to the whole project, which was kind of ironic. But anyway, that's basically who he is and he is a targeted gene knockin of a particular Gene Code S R Y which stands for the sex determining region on the Y chromosome and your listeners probably familiar with the fact that Jen that sex in mammals is determined by inheriting a Y chromosome from. Dad which makes you a boy or an x chromosome from dad, which makes you go and the reason for that is this Jane Lasry, which is the sex determining region on the Y chromosome basically triggers development down the male pathway, and so that's why when you get a Y chromosome, you go to the mail pathway and what we did was actually moved that Jane using crisper cast nine and made education and copied it onto another Jane with the idea of saying whether or not. The inheritance of that Gina Learn in an ex- ex-. Gina typic-. Individual would result in in an individual that has a a male appearance and we know that in some species like, Mike Tyson infect humans and horses is being observed translations of the lasry on shoes. The X. Crime is I'm and that's resulted in ex ex lasry positive male appearing individuals, and so we think based on our understanding of biology that that likely that gene is sufficient to basically trigger the mild developmental pathway and we want more boys in beef production. In the same way, we want more girls for chicken and egg production. because. The males are more efficient at converting to gain and tend to finish it a heavier white and so If there was a choice, they'd be the preferred animal for based production. So why do kind of thing with a cow? Why start there it seems like this could have been
Washington D.C. Museum Of The Bible To Return Looted Artifacts To Iraq
"Opened around three years ago. The museum of the Bible here in Washington, D. C has faced several scandals over the way it obtained antiquities somewhere looted, even fake. The museum says it has corrected the problems, but it's been a complicated task. NPR's Jane Arraf reports. The museum now plans to send some artifacts back to Iraq that it didn't even know it had The Museum of the Bible was founded by billionaire Steve Green and evangelical Christian whose family owns the Hobby lobby Craft store chain. He wanted to show the book's history and impact. But he didn't know much about antiquities or the illegal market for them or show much concern. Three years ago, the US government find hobby lobby $3 million for lack of due diligence. The company returned to Iraq, thousands of clay tablets and other items. That had been shipped a hobby lobby from other countries. Some marked ceramic tile samples. Now, the museum's chief curator, Jeff Claudia, tells us they're packing up more pieces to return to Iraq because they can't tell whether they were looted his paperwork and very vague paperwork. So I don't know if he's purchased sight on scene or be reviewed before they were purchased. Flow has referring to what the museum now realizes, or more than 8000 clay tablets and other artefacts and acquired from dealers in the US, the UK and Israel. They're believed to have come from Iraq.
Miami Marlins Outbreak Wreaks Havoc on M.L.B. Schedule
"Major league baseball season got underway last week. But so far it's been rough. More than half of the act of Miami Marlins players and several coaches from the team have tested positive for the Corona virus. As a result, Marlins games have been postponed through at least Sunday. But despite concerns over additional outbreaks, Major League Baseball officials have so far balked at the idea of canceling this truncated season altogether. Here's MLB commissioner Rob Manfred discussing the Marlin situation on ESPN on Monday. I don't put this in the nightmare category. I mean, obviously, we don't want any player. To get exposed. It's not a positive thing, but I don't see it as a nightmare. We built the protocols to allow us to continue to play. That's why we have the expanded rosters. That's why we have the pool off additional players. And we think we can keep people safe and continue to play. I've got J. McManus with me. Now she's the director of the Maris Center for Sports Communication and a sports columnist for the New York Daily News, Jane Great to have you with us. Oh, thanks for having me it. Rob Manfred, who We just heard MLB commissioner. There sounded pretty confident at least that he was going to be able to keep his player safe. But the Marlin situation sounds quite alarming. Tell us, you know how things have developed since the first cases were identified on the team. The proof is in front of him hasn't been able to keep his players safe. So the question is, what do they do now? The way that this developed was after a game in Sun on Sunday, where the Marlins were playing the Phillies before that game player had had tested positive for the Corona virus and the team of wanted to play that game anyway. And so I went ahead and played and of course, that Opens the door to exposure not just to the Marlins players, but also to the to the Phillies. And to anybody who's been working in that clubhouse. And so what you have, then is you know one test, turning into multiple tests in an outbreak and a team one of the 30 teams not being able to play going forward and quarantined in Philadelphia. Until they can figure out how to move this season forward
What Will Dallas's Arts Scene Look Like Post-Pandemic
"Performing arts have had to go virtual during Cove in 19 and the arts Community Alliance is doing everything it can to support these institutions in Dallas County. During the pandemic, we're joined by Terry Loftis, president and executive director of Taka. So how you guys shifted during the way you helped the arts during this time? Yeah. So I took this position last October, and no one told me there was a global pandemic on the right. They really should have let you know that would have been nice of them. That would've been helpful. But in all seriousness, what we were able to do was to react quickly. So the first thing we did when this first half was to create an emergency relief fund with the goal of raising additional funding. So our normal grant process was last March, For example, to where we granted $400,000 to our arts organizations. The pandemic came along and was in full force, and we determined that if we could raise The end of the goal was to raise an additional $150,000. Well, we raise 705,000 so that initiative is drawing to a conclusion right now, then looking forward because back in March the models were indicating and North Texas by Jane July. Will be seeing the other side of this. We will a peak and, you know, April May and then things will get back to some sense of normalcy. Well, that didn't happen. So now we're looking at a situation to where Taka. Technically is not obligated to do the next round of funding based on our normal cycle until next June. Well, there's no way we can wait that long arts organizations. They're going to need our support. Well before then, so That is what led to the creation of the resiliency initiative to where we're taking what would be an annual distribution next June and starting that process and October doing rolling distributions up to the final distribution in June to provide much needed support. Now, then we're waiting until next year. You've got your normal taka grants that you give out. And then there are some smaller grants called pop up grants. Tell us about those What we're doing with this initiative is trying to cover all bases so pop up graphs, which are designed to as this smaller organizations who may be presenting programming in content that may be, for example, just won my concert or one night performance, a dance recital that is not a scheduled seasoned format, but their attempt to And desire to continue their mission statement and put some sort of programmatic content available to their patrons. We would reward those institutions with smaller grants that we call our pop up grants, and that could be anywhere from $500 up to $2000. And that doesn't require an application process because we're seeing a lot of that seasons have been cancelled across organisations of all sizes in the arts. The whole point behind resiliency is just that your ability to present some sort of content that is based on your mission statement to do so. And it's safe environment for performers and for the public. Primarily virtual. And that is Terry Loft is president, executive director of tacos. So if you're a performing arts organization in Dallas County, and you need help reach out to the arts community Alliance, Goto Taka Dash arts DOT or GE. Find out more.

"Has sentence five women to two years in prison for tick talk post, The country says violate family values more from NPR's Jane Arraf. The women include two social media influencers and three women who helped him with the posts. One was accused of encouraging young women to post videos for money. Another was accused of posting indecent photos and videos of herself. Her lawyer says the videos have been posted by her estranged partner. A sentence, which includes almost a $20,000 fine each is being appealed. Human rights activists called the arrests of violation of freedom of expression. I say it's part of a wider crack down on freedom of speech that includes stifling women on social media.
Trump to send 'surge' of hundreds of federal agents to cities
"Trump's dispatch of federal agents, first to Portland, Oregon and now to other cities has touched off an intense legal and political debate. David Martin has Our Sunday Journal. What are you doing? Use your words. What are you doing? Video of men in camouflage snatching a protester off the streets of Portland, Oregon, set off a pandemic of confusion and outrage. What is going on confusion about who these men are on outrage at President Trump's threat to do the same in other cities? We're looking in Chicago two. We're looking at New York. Look at what's going on all run by Democrats all run by very liberal Democrats. The Democratic mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, said she would welcome federal help to fight crime. No wants no part of what she's seeing on the streets of Portland. We don't need federal troops. We don't need unnamed secret federal agents roaming around the streets of Chicago, the agents important look like soldiers. In fact, they're members of the border patrol far from their usual missions of going after drug smugglers along the Mexican border. They're under the command of acting Director of Homeland Security. Chad Wolf. These officers are not military. They are civilian police officers. These police officers are not stormtroopers. They're not the Gestapo if some have described them, there has been a tremendous a tremendous amount of false information out there. Mark Morgan, head of customs and Border protection. Provided a citizen's guide to the insignia on their uniforms Patrol. Clearly police. It's marked on the front and the back clearly every single agent a CZ. Portland's protests continued in the aftermath of George forwards death. Trump administration moved in to protect federal building from Vandals. These individuals carry lasers, baseball bats. Explosive fireworks, metal pipes, last bottles, accelerants and other weapons, all targeting federal facilities and federal law enforcement. There are plenty of protesters who do not fit that description. Women who call themselves the wall of moms. Naval Academy graduate Christopher David, who stood his ground but did not appear to threaten the federal agents. They kept hitting me and he eventually hit my hand and broke it. I needed to stay as calm as possible. I had no idea what these guys were capable of. Even the mayor doesn't want these federal agents inner city got hit with tear gas provoked the mayor calls it urban warfare. Paul Rosenzweig, who served in the Department of Homeland Security. DHHS under Republican President George Bush calls it unprecedented. Never have I seen it before where the federal government has imposed its will on the state and says We're going to do this mission whether you want us here or not. It's unprecedented. Is it legal? It is probably on the border lines of legal The department was created in the anxious days after 9 11 when another attack was fear terrorists attacks by Al Qaeda or a nuclear weapon or a biological threat. Never did We contemplate that they actually be used against American citizens, and that's where the authority has been stretched beyond all recognition. And here is what most people don't know about D H S. The Department of Homeland Security has more law enforcement resource is at its disposal than the rest of the federal government combined. This is the kind of first time that the American public is seeing that the reality of that Acting DHHS. Chief Wolf, who traveled to Portland to inspect the damage, says it's all about protecting federal property. But in addition to tear Gates, there is Mohr than a whiff of politics in the air. The acting secretary has chosen to essentially declare war on a segment of the American populace. It's transparently a political exercise. Transparently political. What do you mean? This is, I think clearly part and parcel off President Trump's ongoing Ah political effort to demonize the left to try and make this election about Cultural issues and to scare the American public into voting for him. However, the battle of Portland and there is something else at stake. What does it do to the image and reputation of the Department of Homeland Security? This incident is going to do lasting damage to the department. I think that the department is a necessary component of our national security apparatus. But this is going to do nothing but give ammunition to those who think off the department as a rogue. Police force. That ought not to exist.

Somewhere in these woods lurks a fearsome predator. It's isolated. It's somewhere in this area, and the race is on to find it and destroy it before it can threaten America's honeybees. They're just killing machines. They have these giant mandibles that air Like shark fans and just 11 chop, and it bites the head off.
Twitter Will Be Fun Today - The College Kids Who Hacked Into Twitter
"Today's guests. His Hip Awan CEO of Afani. Secure and private cell phone service locum his Heeb. Thank you Laura for home. You'll show. You were one of the investigators in touch with the young people who hacked twitter last week and gain control of prominent accounts, including those of Joe. Biden Obama Elon Musk and others as well as those of crypt companies like coin, base and finance, and when they had control those accounts, they were soliciting bitcoin from twitter users. How did you get in touch with the hackers? So Laura be in like. four-time itself, so then after I was so pissed off that angry that I said I need to solve this problem, and so I've entered into a form that relates how they have those accounts holiday getting pretty much all the ring of how they operate so. When you say that they had had your twitter account, nor they have my Sim Sark four times. Okay, and when you say Sim, swaps just described that in case, listeners does up. Does improper pretty much. What happened is like someone will take the form so the underground market like think about Ebay, but like I knew democracy with information. So you said your name, your information social security number your call logs your life, your life, location or anything on you. If I say hey, I need to find out for Laura Shane telephone number, and they'll give me telephone number will give me a call loss to give you. An everything comes through telephone numbers of numbers unique, and then if I say. Say Hey. I need to take the phone number 'cause I need so they will just prophet abuse him that I control, and I need to pay them few hundred dollars now. Your formula not work anymore because I had control of Sim card, so then I use that telephone number to get into a g mail, facebook and twitter, so if you go on twitter, new likely rescinded to email our number. If it's telephone number you've got. Someone's adopted very common technique deployed across US for a long time. So. The twitter hack twitter said that their employees had been socially engineered, and that's how these hackers gained control the systems. Are you saying that? Some twitter employees have their account. Sim swapped like how how does that you or Simspon tried? These people relate to the twitter Hack Greg? You wanted to ask me like how to get in touch with them so I'm trying to understand. You, that of analysis himself, so started going into the industry into this form than trying to see how they operate and to Dodd funny, so which will provide the made acadia that probably that cannot be Simpson's. That's what we did an offer that. VINCI START GETTING customers. Have you would actually getting a lot of attempts to do so? You would getting Dempsey pretty much every week that someone prior to himself or customer, trying to like hack into our system and mend the failed. I got in contact David Mayhew call, they would email method you and they will do all kinds of attacks. You know they'll try to let pen to pen tests. The everything did and obviously in one of the cases restocked immunity stopping messing around it right I know what you're up to. And after I got in touch with him to signal and author that the lake. Not I won't say that become a friend, but I told them why you're doing this. Thank you know you should not do this multiple hackers and they said okay. If you don't have anything to do pretty much, does it okay? Why don't you get a job? He said job, and then they start feeding the all information to proved at. Legit than a lot of information and how I was getting information from a lot of talk of the vote. And when it all this happened that you got in touch with him and had it happened late four five months ago. Okay They were diverging to me not just for this hot, but for other purposes to ride like a kid discount. Lot of databases beach everyday, so they wanted to see that a hey. If I'm interesting in the database, just wanted to work pretty much. is not money. It's also about ego that they wanNA prove something that they would do something so. So Mike Context for not hacking, but they'll be into the songs that they had access to. That follows A. Up I didn't want to. Excessive today were passing me. Hey, today. This is for sale to do sports on tomorrow. This person's so on the deal stood attack. I got a message that will be fun today, and when this message I thought he'd be like a distributor barks. Like scam scams, and but after why? That's all the kind. We got attacked ten. Finance Accounting Noble at depth one time. I taught that it's just a third party API like you know you have like you know where your schedule. The in everything I thought that may be compromised, and that's how they got author. Riley said No. We have everything. A screen chart I tweeted screen shot, and after that is blue. Well and so, who are these people? who were the people involved in the actual twitter hack? The difficult to identity like frankly I don't know I can speculate, but obviously because someone security and privacy I don't want to speculate but I can tell you wanting like college. Kids are maybe like someone between eight, eighty, twenty, one, twenty, two, and they are video gamers. They'd metaphor armed, and they found fascinating for them. Dislike a game like you go into video game on you killing you do stuff for them. It's like that. They, probably living in some way or radio patterns right now in basement. Who does not even know anything? and. They just do it for fun. Obviously, money's there, too, but most of fun for them is just a today. And so originally. The way you got in touch with them was they were targeting these different cell phone accounts, and what does motivation and taking over the different cell phone accounts so for account you can actually to when people take account, they can actually destroy you financially emotionally ended up recently, though by financial I can say they can get into your county bank accounts ticket by Tiptoe through that they can buy a lot of levels of securities financially they can do. obviously going to facebook in an email to, and then they donor all information from your facebook, and then they start blackmailing you that. Hey, likely when a lot you have done this like you know you have this. And you have to pay me this information out there and a lot of people would have to pay them the money because they don't pay the money. They looted operation right so and then third party. They just become Parson Mike is the word processing me. blender used to take my county new. They cannot get anything, but they wanted to talk to me. Just fun for them like people. Some people are sick. Like how did they pick you out of all the different people that they could torture also the league, if not just me like everyday hundreds of people to get them soft, though I'm just one of them on average, every second medical become victim of since up, not himself but cybercrimes so. But I had the impression that this was primarily targeting crypto currency people, but you're saying it's any bundled nor I think eighty percent of people who was himself to an entrepreneur L.! And the new in the cases of those people is it like personal vendettas that they're trying to? You can make more money by a hacking Lord cell than anything else you know. is one thing but Lloyd is like one number one target Loyd and has professionals league doctor medical doctor then. In Lord other number one targets in suffers, and what is the motivation for targeting lawyers Don. Money don't happen. How do they monetize that Yeah, so I tell you doctors, basically busy less tech, savvy and rich. It's that easy to find out any doctor information. You can find out who the best doctor in the city and you consume. Stop Him. And once you get into that account, you can transfer money between accounts who can be that people have been? Going into the count, Simpson calling the bank making via transfer, and then just checking accounts. That's pretty common. For for doctors to clinics have a lot of money. If you'RE GONNA clinic, instead he did even like five hundred hundred million dollar distorted the front because Alaska. Election for them. Okay, so let's go back to the twitter hack. They were some names that were identified of people who are involved these names. In The New York Times article that quoted you as a source one was kirk. There were some other people ll and ever so anxious. Who were these people? And how did they know each other? So they don't. Know the Best Birdie. They just hang out on rooms like chatting channels lake similar people on developed talked with you. The pirates channels. We had people a go if they WANNA have information to the document industry for finding information. If I want someone associated Gordon dissipates on one. Don't get call for these people trade information. And you asked about like a leg. Imagine your lawyer and you are fighting for my open kiss. We begin go to the website by that long since he will. They are who they're talking to the day can. Make some delays on them. That's one thing but other than that. These people are just a game as they would play like you know different video games and kick the die, who was basically a source of the rate industry rock says they'll be extra agents, and they are in room for longtime and David. Obviously you want you want something you don't trust the new guy. The new guy who is basically the main culprit punching the entity because multiple reasons, but the main guidance, the just which had A. Reputation. If you say you want a username of Laura at Laura, Shannon inactive. You may not trust kick, so you can do this. Middle Diane Tell Them Hey, can you hold the money for because you have a good relation? Because like Ebid forums generally have a petition systems. You know so then you ve into this guy like you know every inch it He went to care. Concur depended he the credit employees but I. Don't think he was employees. And, then he gave him the concert start building. So this is just a middleman. He was just broken deals. You tell them what you want. He was just keep his car and transfer the money. The is completed that fall. And so so kirk was was saying that he was a twitter employees, but as you said, you don't think that he was, and he was essentially selling valuable twitter accounts, and if people didn't trust, Kirk, they would use ever so anxious as their middleman to get the different twitter handles that they wanted. Is that what happened? That's correct. Good Gig, only unharmed on in July of. July it was very recently. that. He actually came so obviously not trust someone admit. That soon. July seventh in the New York Times article are. Limited okay, but all right so but ever so anxious. How to longer reputation and. And that was who people are transacting with. And so then. How did BITCOIN come into this? All. On these things happen through Bitcoins, so the way it started was they were selling. This twitter handles four bitcoin and then later. How did the scam change? So I. Personally is what I personally think. That kid was in touch with the employees who was giving these accounts. For a few thousand dollars. And then. Either bribed him. Architects. Social Engineering Him. Legs because like hey can do. This is my. This is purely my speculation that you're working for so long. He warned the trust. Any may have said Hey, can you log in forbid I wanNA see how it looks like something that he made it something so the guy is pasta on. Hey, just do it, but don't do anything crazy. You Know Butt kicked. Decide Okay, man I can just go on or can also go online with I can do it I can. Can also go on like you know. All those accounts crazy. That's what I okay, but you're just speculating. You don't have any proof that or or do you know what? I don't have any proof of that I don't approve. Have critic probably do it? And Kirk? Is probably a guy called coup, which is on a farm for a long time, so he speculated that he someone that was in the industry for wide, but not. Approved that. Kicked it, but from all the action than everything it all points to cook. Irene so in a moment we're gonNA. Talk a little bit more about what happened. Exactly I, in sight, twitter and scam, but First a quick word from the sponsors who make this show possible. How much in fees are you paying? Back to my conversation with his Heeb Awan. So, we don't know exactly how. Kirk got into twitter's internal systems. However Once. He or she did then what'd he do or or she do with their power? So. Kirk than they went to buy I think. Start with by notes I'm coin base. And the see your finance and he made it account Egypt first of all. What did it was did with other? Account. Okay, which means when you log in, it asks you to do a second type of security, which is hopefully. If you're in the crypto space, you have used something like Hugo, authenticate or key, and you're not using text message based second factor authentication. Where they sent a code your phone because otherwise if he gets swaps than than having no. Buyer so. Removed that and then keep going good thing. They added wall a secondary second. You know Autodata so now. I'll give example like you have my username seep, so they moved to a FE, and they're also removed. Jane, Email. And then they. Did possible reset. So the new email guard, the chain deposited garden the account. and. tweeted whatever they wanted. Well, and what were they tweeting? So, they were tweeting that you know. About Co. Ed Nineteen I believe like you know because of Covid, we like helping people. I don't remember the wording. Health Has Something and they said Back. And this is video any comments in YouTube. Actually they were so good that frankly sometime I get like you know Oh my God like the able to make it like a secondary thing. That's real you know and like, but this happens pretty commonly, and and it's happening for almost two years now i. It, really is the kind of thing where people think it's real I honestly. Had created a question for you, which is who are the people who are savvy enough to own bitcoin and know how to send it, but not savvy enough to spot. What to me seems like an obvious scam. Actually went on the Internet and are tweeted out this thing same thing I said like who are those people who can have sophisticated enough to buy Bitcoin, but knowledge to. Send. Bitcoin but I think leap Dick's everything. Like I agree people think okay. Let's give it a chance. You know it's like a lottery ticket. You know people may be, but they think what if this is true and other than that. If you like an must happening there, actually flaunted, be efforts on twitter. All the time with people are donating money on twitter, but they don't ask for anything they say hey, can you give me your Alfred Egland who this every day, so he will dollars to off fifty dollars for every person everyday. You'll say. Retreat this. I'll give you this money. So this happens right now and obviously As hit audible, read like you know when viewed come in people, people forget everything that you know. We have so many Ponzi scheme like so many scattered that happened that exist today could if I come to unity Laura investment scheme, which is a pretty good you know. He hit all the MACHIDA. But it only gives you five percent. You may not listen to that. Say Hey, Lord the Child who may tennis money tomorrow. You may skip everything. Cocaine is thousand and ten dollars tomorrow. Okay I'll take the risk from doing that. Hopefully I'm sure my listeners are savvy enough to know if it sounds too good to be true. But people do that I. Think I have estimated that around like maybe I. Just in this journal given us cam like. He put a lot of tens of millions of dollars and well not last week, but no, not over time overtime. Yeah, yeah, we'll be sending money, so there are enough food. I guess yeah over I mean for last week. The hackers did net about a little over thirteen bitcoin, which was about one hundred twenty thousand dollars, although analysts said that about twenty, thousand of it seems to have come from a suspicious address that they actually think controlled by the hackers to kind of make it look like this was legit and people were actually sending money. But then also by the way they could have netted more. However, Cuevas said that it did prevent more than one thousand customers from sending about two hundred and eighty thousand dollars worth of Bitcoin to the twitter hackers so oriented, so let's talk a little bit also about just what happened in twitter which was? Twitter blog posts. Hackers a targeted. Thirty accounts for forty five of those they reset the password and sent tweets from those accounts for eight of them. They actually downloaded that counts data, and then for thirty sixty legitimate direct message inbox, including one elected official from the Netherlands, and it was who. What do you think they could do with such information? I think it's A. Black, man that I've been talking to you about what happened with sin sopping. Let's think about it if you have first all that fool Phoolan that why didn't put? It wasn't like planned. I don't believe it was just like in the move in the heat of happened. BANDAIDS slaves. They clearly guy who just got drunken pretty might do everything but I think if you have access to like anyone, social media, proper social media like I have been I've received. Messages. I know this is upsetting. I'm sorry to have to tell you this already doesn't make sense holly. It's been over two weeks since you're attack but this does appear to be connected. This is the third killing in nearly a month time. Claire Thanks Holly. There's more Claire. There was a second attack last night. The victim was male attacked at home. "Has forensics called no still no word you might as well relax? You don't have anything new to go on yet. We don't even have the victims. Id It's been thirty six hours. Liam the longer forensics takes the colder are killers trail gets like. I don't know that I'm sure they're working as fast as they can. Want something to do research really. It's this or do nothing. I'm looking for any similarities between the crime scenes. This is murder from six months ago. Well this one's completely different different. Seen different wounds wait. What are these underneath sketches? Don't start just look for similarities. You're still thinking about Jack. The RIPPER COM on. We can't rule it out even if it's just the media trying to create a story from nothing. I'm not wasting my time on the wounds are identical. They're similar very similar cuts across the throat and abdomen. Several small cuts as well. They're almost the same angle and length and what about the missing kidney. These are illustrations from a book. Not Official police sketches. It doesn't matter how similar they are. Liam we're looking for cold blooded killer who still out there. I know Holly I know what's taking the emmy so long anyway. Yeah it's been long enough. They know this is a priority right. You would think so. This is detective grant. Are you ready with a report on our Jane Doe? Yeah yeah sure come on down. The forensics lab is a boring space with light brown cabinets in gray counters. Scattered equipment is organized in sections. There are several large monitors with some DNA tests running in the background to disgruntled Techs Work Frantically to analyze the incoming data Roman. We're here about the Jane Doe from the Farmers Market. Yeah the one you called about five times. We're just itching to get started on our investigation. We didn't mean to bother you. You know it's it's not about now. Really we're used to the phones ringing nonstop around here. Okay let's see or victim is a twenty eight year. Old female named Kathryn waters several canvas area. She was found but we eventually found a clutch with their. I D dental records confirm. She was healthy. She had a high quantity of alcohol under system but toxicology was otherwise unremarkable. No signs of a struggle that along with a large cut along the throat indicate she was attacked from behind and She didn't see it coming across the abdomen. This cut was made well. She faced the attacker. After she was already incapacitated there was another cut along the throat as well as several small cuts that appear to have been after the wound to the abdomen. He was torturing her she. She bled out quickly but definitely would have been a lot of pain thankfully. The kidney was removed after the fact. Did you find anything that could be traced back to the killer? No nothing however. I can't tell you that the wounds were inflicted by someone much taller than her judging by the angles. I'd say the killer was between six two two six five. What about a murder weapon? No no but we did get a partial shoeprint in the mud near the tree. Abbar seat the victim had in her pocket and her broken phone. All the crime scene photos are in here. Maybe you'll see something we didn't well. We've certainly got our work cut out for us. We're going to need more evidence but it's enough to get started at least let's work on potential suspects. Check out the name of the restaurant on the receipt and get Catherine's phone to it. We need to notify the family. I I can take care of that while you get started on our list of suspects fair enough after I get a preliminary list together. I need to head out though. I'm meeting a friend for dinner and drinks. Diane remind me to get Cherry Pie filling water. Oh come on man I told you I don't even like David Lynch. Yeah but you've never seen twin peaks you might really like it. You never know there is absolutely no way. I'll get into that show and I'll prove it. Okay I'm intrigued. How I'm going to watch every single episode and Co host a podcast where we discussed all the ways in which I can't stay in the show. Yeah that seems counterintuitive I hope it's funny. At least you bet your Cherry Pie. We'll be funnier than that. I hope shot up. Subscribe to the Black Lodge Complaint Department on Apple podcasts. Or wherever you get your podcast and check us out. I'm glad I asked for line. I'M GOING TO DANCE. Are you coming? We'll catch up. It's nice having you around. I don't feel like I have to keep up with her with you here. Happy to help. Abby can be a lot a lot of fun but a lot. I'm glad you're here to. She's talked about you for months. It's nice to finally meet you. How did you two become friends? I met her through my friend Mel. Actually I think Mel's ex dated one of Abbie's X.'s. And somehow they ended up friends after the breakup about right. She says your detective. Yup Bristol. Pd It can't be rewarding but it is definitely draining for sure cannot even imagine. It's tough definitely not for everyone. You're an adjuster right yes I work at Wellington's it's been a rough week but nothing compared to yours. I'm sure it's not fair to compare like that. Every job has its own stress. What happened at work this? My boss wants me to deny claims to keep the company's bottom line looking good. He may deny a family's house fire repairs yesterday and then he came by my cubicle today. I'll pull up the claim and take a look. It looks like the check was only approved this morning. How to get to the shop should have it tomorrow. Miss Hawkins. I'm so sorry about the delay. I hope it didn't cause you too much trouble. I missed shift at work today. But that's not your fault Clare. You've been such a help throughout this whole process. Thank you you call me if anything else comes up right. You look pissed. What's up. Good Old Dick? Smalley waited until the start of the new quarter today to approve Hawkins. Pay Out for her truck. I thought you cemented that claim. Last week I did at poor lady had to miss a shifted her job so the Dick can make sure his numbers look good. Oh his so sleazy. I swear one of these days I will tell him off properly. He can't treat people like shit. Show there someone needs to go back to yoga. I'm not trying yoga again. If I'M GONNA pay to be told to relax I'll get a massage. And they had the heat cranked on purpose. No thank you signed up for a hot yoga class. What did you expect tight? Didn't think about how many sweaty people there would be. That's for sure anyway. So I have dinner plans with Steve Tonight. You gone on that many dates with someone in a while looking at you go. He's pretty good looking and he's sweet. He's not the most exciting of guys though. He works in it and talks about how he works in it a lot. It's not the most fun to listen to. I don't know Claire. We both were GONNA insurance claims for the excitement in that here not wrong. He's just so happy at his job. I I can't relate it all I'm going to do more than this like what no something. "I'm so sorry I'm late Wendy with a huge break in the jewelry shop robberies case. I just got carried away. Well did you. At least catch the guy turns out it was two guys but we got them both still. It's no excuse for being late. I even left the paperwork to holly. It's okay you're only a few minutes late. You should help Hollywood the people tomorrow though. It's not her fault that you can't keep time. Yeah you're right. I'll hope first thing in the morning. How was work today? Oh it was a good one. Today I taught the kids how to do some basic math using candy head quite the sugar rush but I think they got the message. It was MEL's idea. She thought the candy would go over. Well which it did of course what about. You was the break in the jewelry case. All the excitement for the day actually never offered me a promotion. That's great it's long overdue. You know you deserve it even before the kidnapping case. I don't know I'm not sure I'll take it. I already feel like most of my job is paperwork. Every job has paperwork but I get what you're saying. I know how much you love being in the middle of the action I really do. I had a good chase today with one of the purpose. If it weren't for some traffic though he may have gotten away. I mean I wouldn't mind slowing down a bit but a promotion would stickney behind a desk. Full-time good evening. May I get some drinks for the table? I'll have a glass of red line. Please a Cabernet if you have it thinks of course and for you. I'll take a glass of whatever stout you have on tap thanks. Maybe desk duty wouldn't be such a bad thing Liam yes you'll be away from most of the excitement but you'll also be away from most of the danger. It would be a big change. When do you have to give him your answer? We'll give me until the end of the week. Then give it some thought. Whatever you decide. We'll be good no matter what. It's just nice to know that your hard work is appreciated. Melges went through the same thing actually with the department head position at school. She took a couple of days even though she knew almost immediately that she was going to accept. Maybe you're right. I wouldn't hurt to take some time to consider it. I'm sure you'll make the right choice now. I think I'm ready to order. Sounds good to me waiter. The next morning to friends make their way through a local farmer's market across town a light rain falls as they shop for a few items missy. Tomatoes are ruge eggs. Think I'm all set? I just need to grab a loaf of bread and I'm good to go. Hi there how are you not bad and yourself? We got a special going to for one loaves. If you're interested thanks but I think I'll just take one today very good. Thanks and here's your change. Have today stay dry. Thanks us well now than I vote against the scenic route on account of the crap weather. Let's cut through the square. The two friends exit the farmers market heading away from the crowds before taking a path between two buildings that leads into a small dreary square two benches on either side with a large elm tree covering most of the path in shadow and darkness. This place is so creepy. When the weather's crap good thing it's barely bigger than your back garden. Hey what's that that's what I don't see anything there to behind the bench by the tree is that I think there's someone over there. Where oh I guess it's happy hour somewhere Hey Buddy you okay. Let's go. I'm definitely over this place. But the heart moving. They could be hurt or something. Hey Man or your K- just WanNa make sure your why. Shit what is it slow?.
