"That stemmed from the former president staying in downtown albuquerque hotel over night just overnight. The security costs included blocking off all parts downtown paying police officers overtime in covering the paid time of expenses of city workers. Who had to stay home. She's really interesting. Said we actually treat it like any other debt and so it goes through somewhat process where you send a bunch of letters out. Keller said we got no response from those letters and then automatically goes to an agency that helps trying collect debts. And so that's those annoying phone calls you get that say you know you money to so and so like now. Trump is getting those so they're actually calling the former guys cellphone saying. Hey i want to talk about that car. Man car warranty now. Most of america found out that the debt about the debt when keller appeared on the daily show to talk about the bill literally went on to talk about this bill that he owed now despite the new found attention to the bill. Keller doesn't expect a collection agency to get any money out of the former guy. No shits he's said given what else has happened. I mean in terms of even his own campaign owing money to donors and lots of shady stuff there so unfortunately i don't really expect to get paid but it's more important that we do and you know we would do it for anyone else so he's different basically he's like we would have sent this to collections for anyone else but there have been some moment of joy when it happened to have been for the former guy. Ag can you imagine working at that collection agency trump. so there's probably like shit going on in an officer who's got the trump call today. Fuck yeah what do you think that message. Sounds like a king. Come to the phone i mean is this. Is this a landline. Leave a message Somebody the i can't even imagine what the former guys message sounds like. "Dollars in strategic consulting fees to roger. Stone's it through ask in the memo. And he gave money to a number of gop florida state lawmakers that he's never supported before the report also indicates gates who cites his lack of friends in washington as a point of pride is very isolated right now. He's received no contributions from his. Gop colleagues in congress the ones that have given him money in the past nothing in this three months and more than anything. The filing reflects a concerted effort to bolster support ahead of the creeping shadow of the investigation. Sullen burger puts it gates have spent roughly one hundred. Seventy thousand bucks on direct mailers. That's one hundred sixteen thousand in one day hundred sixteen thousand dollars of it in one day march thirty first. That's the day after the new york times first reported being investigated for sex trafficking Last week and political also reported that gates recently spent six figures on tv ads pushing back against these accusations. These are thirty second. Television spots slated to run in his panhandle home district and on select national cable networks asking supporters to fight back against a multi week fake news cycle targeting specifically but that that five thousand dollars in strategic politic- political consulting fees to drake ventures that really raises eyebrows drake ventures as you know roger stone joint It sounds familiar because we reported last week that the department of justice is suing stone in his wife for using drake ventures to shelter more than a million bucks they owed in taxes. The campaigns headstones company on march twenty four th just days before gates. His father held that in person meeting with former doj prosecutor. According to a person familiar with the meeting in a bizarre march. Thirty first interview with with tuck tucker carlson. That was just hilarious to watch gates claimed his father recorded that conversation at the direction and to the fbi. Alleging without evidence that the former prosecutor was at the center of a con convoluted scheme to extort the congressman but there was no payoff. There was you have to in order to extort someone you have to say you know giving money or i'll do a thing. He didn't have a. I'll do a thing. there is no threats with. It's not really extorted. Really bad at this. They're really bad at this and the gates campaign by the way has never ever paid drake ventures until that day The report also shows like i said how much people really hate matt gaetz his own party so far. He has reported again no financial support from friends in congress. He got money from last year. They're avoiding him like the plague Gates did however send thousand dollar donations to five florida. Republican senators on january twenty. Sixth gates has never donated to any of their campaigns. Before with the little memo and venlo that just says please like me. Can i get an applause. please like me. One of the contributions reflects gates his ties. To greenberg has longtime friend who's been indicted and is now pro cooperating against him And the contribution went to jason brodeur a longtime gates ally who is also a close with greenberg through g. Gop circles guaranteed. These guys were at those parties with him. What do you want to you. Know when the when the girls told cnn. You know there were these sex and drugs sex and drugs parties over at you know at gated community and we had to give up our phones at the door and it was all republican dudes. I guarantee you. These contributions went to people who could put him at those parties. Oh yeah that's my. That's just hush hush as low if you could just keep on the download it'd be great. Thanks bye yeah now you know. Broder's campaign drew close. Gertie drew scrutiny for dirty tricks including that sham candidate scheme So he got he got money to Burger has denied involvement and went on to win that race now representing greenberg's seminole county as the state level Engages continue to rack up. Legal fees pattern established around last summer the time the doj investigation was launched. This says to me that he knew last summer that he was being investigated The daily beast reported earlier this month. That weeks after greenberg was indicted in june twenty twenty gates paid the law firm venable. Llp thirty eight thousand bucks. Nearly four times the combined amount of legal fees incurred in the previous five years. The new filing reveals. Twenty-one thousand of the payment venable in february bringing the total expenses to eighty five thousand dollars since greenberg was charged. Now i do have one other quick story on gates to to tell you about This is from cnn. I think the first to report it was the orlando sentinel but federal authorities are now looking into whether that two thousand eighteen trip to the bahamas. for matt gaetz was a a gift to influence gates in the area of medical cannabis. Now prosecutors with the justice department of public integrity section are examining whether gates took gifts including travel and sex in exchange for political favors because gates is proposal For for medical cannabis was pretty much word for word. What his friend Pure solo member hand surgeon. fella Yeah wanted because he's he's kind of in that business so that could be a very very big problem You aren't allowed to accept. Do pay for play but even even gift baskets exceeding thousand dollars or are frowned upon and illegal to to get something done a policy done that. You want dominance fact that it's the the his policy and his bill proposed. Legislation is word for word what this guy wanted right after they went to the bahamas together. Ooh not looking good so it seems a little. Sketchy little sketchy. I love this next story. It's from hometown of albuquerque. New mexico city of albuquerque has referred the former guys campaign to collection agency. It's just so fun to say. The city's seeking approximately two hundred thousand dollars following. The president's rally. Rio rancho in two thousand and nineteen albuquerque mayor. Tim keller said the bill covers security costs..

"Is a little unusual. But i do have a favor that i would like to ask our listeners. And in order to this favor. I to give you the setup just a couple days ago. My son and i decided to take a little road trip. You know we're all cooped up and My son strapping young lad in the midst of a massive growth spurt. He can find to me that he's hungry and he loves in and out and i think we all do. This is not a this is not an ad but who doesn't love their in and out right. no. I mean we delicious. I'd want to. I know it's delicious but you know we're not getting paid to say that. So so screw it. Maybe they'll mail place less in and out if you're out there i'm working you i'm just saying and i'm not getting paid. My son wanted to stop it in and out. And i'm like a okay with me so we want to eat right then so what i do. Is i drive over. And i pull into a parking lot. It's pretty much empty. And i want to stretch my legs so i get out and i've ordered some food too so i put my food on the roof because i want to stand not get these long legs and they. They get cramped up. I hand him. His burger insert the window. And i put mine on the roof. And i was saying i think i was introducing him to the group. The cars my best friend's girl which is a great pop song fantastic tire lick just great production and i. I was gonna play that for him next so what i did is i got out my iphone and then i set it down on the roof of the car next to my food. I think we all see where this is going. Eat the food in a reverie it's in and out not getting paid but into reverie finish the food responsibly. Leave the car and go and put it all in a in a trash can. That's right there then jumped back in the car and then get on the one zero one. Freeway headed north. And i'm chugging down the freeway and life is good and i'm loving it then make. It's time to hear that song. And i'm about to reach for my phone and play the song from my son when i hear gestapo thapa and i go what and then i immediately no but i left my phone on the roof of the car accelerated and it stayed for a remarkably long time but then just as i needed it the knew it was time to go and went tumbling off into the pitch black night. It's now like nine o'clock at night and went tumbling onto the one zero one freeway and i'm like oh my god. I can't believe what i just did. And i tell my son and he loves to laugh at me and so he really enjoyed your an idiot. You're you know it calls me a boomer even though it's technically i don't think i'm a boomer but he's like you're a boomer you stupid which had a different father moms crate. You suck was fun. Refs mike yeah. I'll never visit you and your old all that kind of fun stuff. They say their father specific. Yeah you're my least favorite late night host. Your podcast is a waste of time. I like mad. I like sono. But what do you offer. You know all the fun stuff. But then he's like using find my iphone. He's like i can see your phone so for a second. We turn around and go back on the highway to even try to find it. And then i'm realizing. I sorta start to think about pulling over on the shoulder of the road. Cars are going by eighty miles an hour. And it's like a five lane stretch of the one on one. And i'm thinking i'm gonna run out into the night dodging traffic looking for no. I'm not going to do that. This is dangerous it would have been a good story gets hit by a car on the one one looking for his phone. Yes last words eat it in and out delicious worth dying for so anyway. Here's point. I have one of those cases where you can put your some of your vital stuff like that. Yes holding up. I have one just like that. I have that case. Just like the one girl he just held up which i found this on the one a. One the got a french fry in it from in-and-out not an ad french brain your wallet. I always keep one fry. Always keep one fry later on later on if you're rushes if you're later on questioned by the police and they say where were you you can say. I have a fried approved. That i was in and out so i'm looking at my wallet and now i'm realizing oh i have my cash card and my credit card okay. Those can be cancelled dammit. My license yet. My driver's licenses in there and it's lying out there in the night in a phone case on the one on one freeway and here matt get to the crucial part of the story. Okay my request to the listeners. Out there okay. It's possible that one of you will be roaming the wanna one freeway. Maybe that grass strip that runs along the side. Maybe you're just roaming the center. Because that's what you do. There are people that just like to roam highways. There might be a super fan. It's like there might be someone who just doesn't even care that much about me. But they find my dead iphone it's dead it's been wiped automatically but they find my license. And here's my fear as you know. I love murder documentaries. Oh yeah and. I am obsessed with murder. My big fear is that someone's going to plant my license at a murder scene. Oh oh yeah. you're five fear. Is that some crime. It doesn't even have to be a murder but my mind always goes to murder. There'll be some terrible crime and at the site they'll find my. Id and i will be arrested. So i want to get the word out now that this is my story. That's why my license is out there somewhere along the one zero one freeway now. This is highly suspicious. I kind of think you've already committed a crime. And you're just laying an alibi..

"Hello and welcome to conan. O'brien needs a friend. I am the aforementioned conan. O'brien i really do need a friend. That's not a joke but thrilled to be here today with our stalwart producer. Matt gourley. matt how are you. I'm good are you doing very well. And of course the woman of the hour. Sonal of session. Harry sona fine ask you a question of. We revealed big news on the podcast. Which is that. You are pregnant with twins. Yeah we talked about it on the podcast. Has anyone heard about it through. The podcast. didn't know in your immediate circle. Or did you manage to get everyone i because i would think that would be socially awkward if say your mom. Heard it on the podcast. But you hadn't told her or attack or your husband tack. He's driving on the freeway listening to but catching up and he drives into a barn. What's Yeah there were a few people. We forgot to tell. And that's how we found out was. They texted us and they're like you're pregnant with twins and you didn't tell us. This is a good way to find out who listened to the podcast. I know who really listens. Well and i mean. Listen 'cause they're they're my friends and they care about me. Also that i guess they're fans conan's yeah let's get. I'm sorry let's do a quick correction there. They can call you anytime but if they want the pure liquid comedy gold. They've got to come to the fountain of said gold conan o'brien and you play a part you're there with your ladle and girl your with your little cup to get some of the liquid gold and splash it around but this little thimble little symbol but That's why you're friends are tuning in. You think my friends are tuning in because of you instead of me. Yes i think can talk to you anytime. But they're like. Oh my god is he on the podcast with you. Ma-ma my god coca gaga. God and then they listen and then they hear you too and then they find out that you're pregnant they call it. They call you anyway. that was. This is fun brief. Look into my mind yup sauna. How's it going How's your mom. Handling this news see has been waiting. I mean i've known you for many years for years. She wanted you to get married to the point where it was like. Just anybody you know come down. It wasn't that bad. it was just she you know. She's getting a little restless but she wasn't like anything you bring home. Just marry you. And i did a segment in armenia. Were i took you to a woman who matched armenian men with women. Did you not yes. We do seriously considered some of those men and many of them were they were in their sixties. They were all like and also. I think that they think matchmaking. It is looked down upon and armenia. And so they had all either gone to prison. Yes i'd like five kids. You can probably look up this segment online. But i took sona to this little house in armenia in and this woman was showing people and every time we should show us a picture and it was this guy who maybe was. I wanna say conservatively. Sixty five seventy and look like hit band in a fight and loss multiple times and then she would say. I lay this guy's good. This guy's good now. There is a problem. She would always say there is a problem. We go what she would talk about. He was imprisoned for what this is. The best part we. I have followed up. Sit in prison for what she said. I can't remember. He was eating with somebody and they had an argument and he stabbed him with his fork. And i'm looking at this guy who looks like a pirate long after the ship went down and he's stabbed someone at a meal who was his friend. So watch what you say at the wedding dinner to this guy so anyway i just but you married this. The perfect guy back. I can never remember his last name. So i just add an easy into his first name which is easy and yes. It's not his name. But yeah the keys. That's not how armenia names work you. Don't just add an ian at the end of their first name. Well they all have an e. n. at the end of their last name right they do but it's not jesting to the armenian people lose the middleman. Just add an ian to the back of your first name. So it's tactic season. It doesn't make sense. I'd be conan conan. Yeah you could pass for armenian. I could be an armenian man. Very ill security and then i go on that website that that woman has and there's one problem one problem with conan conan ian. What's that very sick very very sick. armenian man. is he alive barely. He's barely alive in this photo. He's actually been stapled to the wall. It looks like he can stand on his own. I'm glad i'm glad the word getting out. We're all very excited and that will be something that we talk about on the podcast. In real time. You know the choosing of the names. I'm sure that's going to be something. We'll be voting on that right. Yeah the listeners will decide what are some suggestions don't conan and matt okay madden conan. Yeah there you go okay that works. Wow it's exciting. And i i've look at your face and it hits me like that. How old were you lose. Nineteen but he was only a few years older than me. Yeah it was pretty crazy but he was the sweetest thing was yeah. That whole experience was really amazing. And he you know. Even though he was only a couple years older he really took me under his wing. Because i hadn't worked that much So it was really special. Wow you were. You were great in that in that film. And that's probably my top three favorite movies of all time. I mean it's just. That is such a heartbreaking scene when you go to his trailer and you're getting married and the conversation it's just it's so it's so sad. Yeah it's so beautiful. And i when i auditioned for that i was auditioning jus- to play that age because i think my characters nineteen at that point but then angry decided that he would just use me to play. I think she's like fourteen or something earlier on so he added a couple of those scenes as well and it was just so i i was like this is never going to work like. We're only five years apart or something but he was so amazing and he made it work. Wow it really did work jane. Emily oh wants to know the latest on marvelous. Mrs maisel season four any ideas. I mean as a little kid. 'cause we were going to games when we were like two years old crazy so you know when i was really young it was more about the candy that we were able to eat in the box and like playing with my cousins but then it became something that i could really bond with my my dad and my brothers over so it just it became now. I'm very very passionate about the game itself but always about the different forms on super candy. Jane you have a favorite sue sylvester bird. Yes she said something about way. Meghan and Harry's Montecito Move Causes Headaches For New Neighbors

"Start with the team Z story, Okay? Megan and Harry Montecito move causes headaches. Few new neighbors are already fed up, so I see. This headline, and I think, Wow, Okay, so that sounds like it's straight out of the daily mail. Everybody hates Harry and Megan, you know, showing up to their fancy neighborhood and creating all this chaos. And when you read the story, it basically is T M Z saying, you know, the locals like, for example, quote most locals tell us they want the paps to give it a rest. The paparazzi Because they feel things they're getting to the point where everyone's privacy is being compromised, and they're super annoyed, and they're saying That's because Harry and Megan moved to Montecito, and you've got all these other people in the neighborhood Ellen Oprah, Rob Lowe, Carol Burnett, Jane Lynch and the Kardashians by the way. On. They're all doing their thing in their private little enclave of Montecito, and they don't need all these paparazzi showing up to blow their cover and harsh. They're mellow.

"WHO's an executive producer at a production company that could very well that could very well be me yeah. Had I stay so how'd you stay or you. A you know our I probably would have ended up in some kind of advertising me too because I do the same thing. I watch commercials and I go. That's fucking lazy shitty stuff exact commercials cels are art that is foisted upon us. Yes and they could be better. They could be the only reason to be so cynical and shitty and lives like this is the same and also I'll just look look at the store how they're telling this story Marshall Yeah and sometimes it's like what they're wearing and will. They didn't cut away clearly enough and you can tell it's a nonunion actor now. Now I I could us. Take Non Union people and make them good yeah. I I know how to do it. That's what I would love to do that. I in fact Jennifer sometimes when we're watching television she pauses and says either direct to commercial or just shut up. I don't care that much. I know I I'm the the same way and and having had that experience of directing a few number one. It's really fun because you've got a set amount of hours. You got a list the things you got to accomplish and it's like a beat the clock game show and and there are different kinds of directors. You know there's there's Alfred Hitchcock Koos storyboards out the whole thing Steven Spielberg kind of the same thing with a real sort of like vision. There's also directors and this is the kind of director that I am men that I would like to be in the future. which is the person that just everybody asks their taste? should we do this or this and they do that. Yeah Yeah Yeah and your whole day is just a series decision making decisions and problem solving. We're running out of time Shit. We're not gonNA shoot this thing in that room. Let's just turn around on to this other side of this room. We're already here. Just turn the lights over there and we'll shoot this rather than go to another room. Just simple Bravo's awnings which you gain came from being onset yes gain from having done this you gain from watching sitting and watching people make a bunch of bad decision and again. It's just a question of taste and and it's like I feel like yeah. I've done this I don't. I now sometimes when I guess do guests work. I have to bite my fucking fucking tongue all the time because they're trying to solve a problem and I'm like this one this way. Let's say just great up around around here. I mean I'm not like too much of an arrogant person but there are one of my main jobs here. Is I call it comedy concierge. I mean I'm on I do what I do on on camera but I also in Rehearsal Conan I or the last step going out the door and then I don't care who the person charges. They need somebody that they can trust to turn to him. Go is that good yeah because all right shit and I'll look at it and go. Is that good. I don't know and you have to ask them to go and somebody you trust has yeah. It's good and you go okay fine move on now. 'cause you say it's good. I believe you yeah and that's kind of what I've been for him for years and so I get to sort of make does decisions and this needs a new ending or cut up that middle part and wh when there are questions sometimes and I'll say do it this way and then other people people kind of go on with other things and I'll say no you should do it this way and then they go on and I will turn to whomever usually it's like a Qr golly. They should just do what I tell them. It's so much easier to just do do what I say. It'll be good reminder. Be the greatest but it'll be good and we can move the fuck on right so yeah. I I think I think you would make a fantastic director. You know because you know you have always been a calm in the storm and that's a major thing that director needs theon and I think you make you go good taste. You make good choices. You have more confidence in that now and I think a lot of what happens is in the editing room as long as long as you have the camera rolling and something genuine yeah because even if it's a damn commercial about you know you know look into in two years something like that you know just. I would always have the camera rolling yeah and then I just put it in. That's how Christopher guest works right. That's why you roll so long because he klux genuine moments from every take yeah so you think Oh. I'm sure this will end up and the tape take with you like rubbing your knows what he uses in its hilarious yeah it's in in the middle of someone pontificating and they're not trying when they're not trying when they're not specially of how they're looking for exactly kids and nonunion let them let them think that there were setting the lighting or something in be shooting. I remember I did it and I felt like this was rea- this was I did a seri- in Chicago. I did series of lottery commercial. which which actually I was I was I was the star of it was kind of like Chicago? Yeah it was it was it was Illinois. State lottery and one of them had Chicago Blackhawks. I don't my mom was of the next year working with whatever the fuck is but he was really really sweet guy but he was just used a hockey player. He doesn't really know how to do things and they were off shooting some like I because you're shooting couple of different things in west and they were just off shooting him doing some copy. Yeah you know like if you buy a lot you know scratcher and turn in your scratch or you might get tickets to a hockey game or something like that and he's doing it and somebody comes over neither the client watch call me because it's it's not a good rate breath and I went over and I looked and he's and he's like he was lost and you're doing voiceovers and they say they want more smile. They want smile. I said you really physically you can't see it but you physically smile and it sounds like this is this is me saying without a smile this saying with a smile your voice changes and you can hear the smile is just mile through the whole thing and he did it in my God. That's perfect and I was like it made me feel like it's such a simple thing that I've learned from standing for Mike Phone. Somebody saying like more smile and go like A. I guess it just means Smile Bullshit. Yeah that does work. It's just little tricks and also people who aren't actors. Get them on the first. Take Yeah be ready to go. Don't waste any I remember. I did a movie with Carol Burnett and Craig Nelson now Craig Nelson incred Craig Robinson and they were doing a scene and it was they were improvising and it was the hersal and it was freaking Lookin hilarious brilliant points. What do I have to do to you for you to get you into a coffin today. She was buying her own coughing and then they're shooting the scene and it's an hour later and it's all gone. It's all gone. You don't even bring them in until it's lit and then tell them your role right right right yeah yeah yeah. It's the best stuff yeah and then there are actors who actually can do that. Yes I mean these. Two could do it for sure right right right should have done it. Yeah Person Magic like I said before the first time you say it. You're probably GONNA say it the best yeah and the person that's going to hear it is going to hear it the best and and react to it the best yeah so it's. I don't like I don't want to overplay to me. It's always do like talking about sex after after attack. What's Yeah Sweaty Yeah. I'm sweaty too. You know it's Nice but even to talk about it. It's like it's magic in the third question is what. Have you learned what he Alec. What have you learned out of this whole Jane Lynch Journey. Most of of everything doesn't matter yeah you know the meaning we put on things and the way we have something in the loss column column in the win column or this was. This was a failure but this was a success at a none of it means anything. I wish I had known that younger yeah but you know you learn it when you learn it and it it kinda just happened organically. I really don't care yeah. I don't have great identification or need for for particular outcomes yeah. It's really just all fallen away and I'm very grateful for it because I'm so much happier. Yeah and it's not like ecstatic. It's just kind of it's like well. After I got divorced. it was that there was kind of a I went through. I was blissed out for about six months and I didn't realize realize how oppressed I had felt and that's Kinda stayed with me yeah kind of it's a beautiful kind of equanimity yeah that it's like. I needed that it was it was really tough time yeah and I almost needed that punch me in the face in order to go you know sometimes it's like you need you need to be punched in the face and I think to as you get older too you become I mean I'm not I'm not religious so I don't think I'd what the time I got at the time I got yeah and that puts a urgency on it like people that think that like you know to not have a religion is somehow meaningless. No I think it actually imparts a way more meaning on every second of every minute every day without getting too worked up about and yoga as I look back sometimes and I mean I look back and a lot of what I WANNA. I WanNa ask myself is what were you afraid of. Yeah like even down to like when kids were mean to like. I mean I'm a large person. I didn't suffer a lot aww bullying but there are moments that are still in my fucking mind about when that kid said that thing to me and I backed down and thinking back like what was I afraid of why why didn't I say fuck you and then you take that into show business. Why did I take that from that person. Why wasn't why didn't I say I knew at the time it was wrong. Why did I take it. Why didn't I say no. This is not right. I'm not GonNa do this and it's was afraid that I break a bone was very I would die never work again. I think so I think it is there. was something deep down inside. It's always life or death in our in our cycle. When I look back on anyone anyone particular one none of it was going to happen now none of it like if I stood up to that kid in school he would have. You'd hit me he would hit. I've been hit. It's not the end of the world and I've never been fired but if I was fired it wouldn't be the end of the world you know through that process as I've gotten older to one thing that and I love this about the professional mean now is.

"You're trying different. Things and it's not working. It's it's always it's always like it's always in my mind like yeah that could that could happen yeah and and there's nothing you can do you know but it is like. I would suck yeah and you could be plowed over by a bus to the possibility of your brain brain going bad yeah. It'll be a little greater so you know and I'm going to be a commercial for transcendental meditation right now but I do. TM and I it's like I don't have a depressive nature but there is a a lightness in my life because I think it's because had that been. I've been doing it now for about a year but I used to to do it in the nineties to and then I stopped and I picked it up again. I won't why did I stop doing this but there's something about it that in finding that what they call the transcendent in place but really it's about dropping and you don't have to get rid of your thoughts. That's not what it is but it's you just let everything be. It's the most free giving a meditation technique I've ever seen but it it. I've heard really great things from people who have depressive nature's about how it kind of releases them It's brain training scientific evidence. I never have really given a good charge. Meditation always seems like Oh that'd be something pretty good and I don't know for some reason I mean you know we'll see. Maybe maybe maybe you made this change everything message. I'll change my named. Sri Something so you are an out. Yes indeed lesbian. XFO Oh symbol woman yes indeed was there at age at which you kind of started get no notion yeah yeah as soon as I B. We came name God. I knew it all along but I didn't know. The name was more interested in the girls in school but in my brain I wasn't saying Oh there's something wrong with yeah. I knew that I had crushes a neighborhood ladies but I didn't know they were crushes. It was just in love with them. Then you get to be about twelve or thirteen and there's a word word for it and also I'm noticing. I don't WanNa go out with Jimmy. I don't WanNa be have a boyfriend. I WANNA have a girlfriend. Oh boy and it was a name for it. I found out there was the name for it and I was like remember how you found that out. Yes I was hanging out with the Isaacs twins. They work on a dark influence. They were kind of mischievous those twins my mother would say stay away from those twins. They said they were in fort. Lauderdale on vacation and there were guys who walked up and down the beach holding hands and it's called gay and I went inside of course I am the the male the female version of that wow now and I thought oh. It's like a disease yeah so yeah. That was a tough thing. I do wish that it wasn't a tough thing but it wasn't that awful for me. I ended up being in theater and initiators just teaming with the gays no kidding to to whenever I do whenever I've had to like hosted political political fundraiser always here in. La I always like to say like hello queers Jews because it's always liberal you set McFarland once said a democratic thing. I hello fellow abortion enthusiasts so did you you. What did you like date boys to a little bit not much not end me at all. It's almost better exactly when I would be going to like a dance with the guy because I wanted to go to the dance. Show almost throw up going honey. Do this body would not let me do it but I did it anyway yeah yeah and so he went to college downstate Illinois. Stay stay right in the center right Bloomington North Bloomington normal yeah. It's probably you you and then David Foster Wallace David Foster. He talked there he did yeah. I did know that I think I think even that's where he was when he died. You sure I wasn't University of Illinois. No it was it. Is You really you think I would know that I thought he was pretty amazing and you were walking around. I'm thinking you were the most famous ever and what was college like down there. It was great because I started. I didn't go into theatre immediately because my parents told me in. You'll never get a job in that. So why don't you major mass communications. It's theater adjacent ride sure and then by the time I'm a sophomore. I'm doing plays and I'm not going to any classes and so I had to. I changed my major without them. Knowing I got a tuition who wishes waiver my parents didn't have to didn't have to know that you're not paying from well. They were they were paying for it but they were very happy that they didn't have to pay for my tuition and I told Oldham. I didn't tell them was because I was a major told him I auditioned for it. They didn't connect the dots at chain and then it turns out. They really didn't care. They weren't paying that much attention and it was a bigger deal to me. Were you a good student. Once I got into what I I would have guessed that also just in high school that I was not a good student. You weren't Cassisi plus used. You know excellent seems like something that you kind of Oh. Thank you not academically. They'll but once I got into might theater stuff I I got for the last two years of college I in straight as every semester before that I was you know see but so my a great. GPA when I left was like three point three it wasn't as out of four. It wasn't as high as it would have been had. I've been focused on what on really one theater the math mind. I don't have a science mind and I I iced struggled through all of that struggled and cheated to be act so really when you got was was that Isu is at being in college. I think like okay acting. That's what I WanNa do this yeah absolutely and there's a great theater department at Isu in fact a lot of Steppenwolf people. went there like Laurie Metcalf Metcalfe and Tom Irwin publicly people you don't know but anyway I ran a lot of people who know the names that will yeah I think I think that's a very common especially mid western thing you don't you. You have all this stuff in yeah you have you have we are and then but you don't it isn't until you get out of the town that you realize that somehow the universe gives you permission to be like. Oh Yeah I do like that and I really WanNa pursue that because I I mean I I've talked about this before but the notion of being from York Ville Illinois and saying I'm going to be in show business and whether that means even and to me that could have meant being a guy yeah. Did you know you want it to be. I knew I wanted to be. I knew I wanted to do something funny. I knew I wanted to do something created then I was I was afraid to act and I also to quite frankly had not been encouraged very well not my mom my parents my mom and my Stepdad and my and my dad to they were very sort of laws as fair my mother my mother early on I think ah explicitly was sort of you know like I like the idea behind every police force which they don't they sort of forgotten this but this is the the mission statement of the police is supposed to be that they're working towards their own obsolescence and to me. That's it's always kind of been. What parenting is your work and you. You are working as hard as you can to make yourself useless to this creature that you've devoted your life to write. My mother explicitly said that edit you know to US early. I want you to do whatever you WANNA do. As long as you're happy go behind which which everyone to do I think when she got towards the empty nest she started was like wait a minute here somebody you. WanNa get back here but so but I wasn't really sure what that was and I was in plays and the play's in our school and I would add there was spring director Default Director English Teacher Guidance Counselor and I would I would ask the main guy in charge of the guidance counselor. Why are these place so stupid. I mean they were like Martin Lewis Movies. Oh yeah it was one called boys and and ghouls together that was around the place you've Halloween. Yes nothing no pippen. No whose life is in any way the dumbest most can't even like not even our town been like the music man and he's like we tried to do serious plays and nobody liked it like okay. You know it's like the beginning not just who I'm sure of probably understanding it or not giving a shit and I was so I went out for all the place. I don't remember exactly what point I think it was like my sophomore play into the next one and there was this the next play was there was a part that was kind of like and I mean in this is completely incorrect but I mean basically the that's the way these things were. There was like a Swami really like a swamp and I was like the main comedic partner and I could do it I did it. I knew I nailed it. I was like fuck yeah. I'm the fucking swannee now I go to look at the when they post the parts and I'm sort of like norm. The Guy that works at the office and I've always been self possessed enough to make a fucking beeline for the guy the cast this thing and say what the fuck yeah and he says well he said yeah you were really good at that part you better than the kid that I gave it to you said and in fact he said like in all the years. I've been doing this. You're the best natural actor I've ever worked with. He said you don't Egos you. Don't need training you. Just you just from scratch. You're just the best but last year Mister Barone said you and Julie Craft through a bit of a disruptive influence backstage meaning. We had fun meaning. We enjoy each other's company by the stupid play and joked around and had fun because we were fucking theater kid and he said so. I decided like Nick I'll give you this role and if you if you show that you can really commit to fucking Ding Dong Dell or whatever the fuck it was and he was like you could really commit to this. Yes you could do the next time we can. Maybe give you bigger role and I said well. Thank you very much but I'm not GonNa do this. You can find somebody else to play Bob. What's they were self possessed and never did another plate for them because fuck fuck me for been like a quiet..

"I wasn't aware if it getting any traction or anything. I felt like Oh yeah that's my my my sword and sorcery a Falcon crest yet I watch. Hbo I felt embarrassed. Kills them pleasure like some dirty soap opera with lots of titties about you know about how people with swords and magicians shifts and then it's it blows on and then as it went on it was an it's in this is is like it's not the only thing television supposed to do but it's one of the most powerful things television can do which is separate. You give you an absolute salute vacation from yourself. Yes you sit there and you go somewhere else. Assume you don't think about yourself and there were so many times at the end of that show and the only the one that was really liked. It was breaking bed where I get to the end of it and then it was only certain episodes. I was one of those people with breaking bad. It's like Oh known episode about his married. Ah Why isn't anyone getting her head cut off but but in game of thrones do we get to an episode and I would be mad yeah like a baby that had its bottle taken away like I want more Willie. I know that's what was so great about watching it. I'm sure I watched the whole I watched the so you ended up electoral three o'clock in the morning time. I saw the red wedding at like three in the morning and then went right to sleep. You know I had to watch a few more into the next season ends. Your pal declines it with some. You know some more devante yeah yeah yeah. No that red wedding was really oh my really something like Holy Holy Shit. They just killed off some huge care. Oh mother and rob the oldest and only chaplain was at the was the role she played issue. Is She. The wife I think so yeah Chaplin Yeah choose like Charlie Chaplin's granddaughter. Oh Really Yeah Oh. I did look up some of the act well there. You have some time and I do it now. Yeah Yeah I in fact. I was just looking up Amelia Clark. I've been thinking about forty eight hours. She was amazing Generis. Yeah Yeah Yeah well now you. You came from a place where people don't go into show business. You mean yes outside of Yeah Yeah Yeah and is it. Is it still the same now or has it kind of as Dolton. Change is is completely changed now much poor we were really wight. It's all African American but it's it's you know when you hear about the south side of Chicago in the violence a lot of it down and because because the south side in our lifetimes is really has really transitioned from being well the white flight yeah it again reporting was white flight and then it just it kept the going Alex even the farm fields you keep running away from each other yeah and what was your what was uh-huh many kids in your three kids in my family an older sister. Julia younger brother Bob and we grow up in the in we lived our whole life to different houses in Dalton and went to Saint Jude's church hung out with you know it was a pretty small community hung out with the same people like yeah years and yeah not a lot not a lot of people saying oh I want to be an actress or I want to be a singer that how did you how did they. How did you people end up in Dalton. Did they get started in the city. My parents lived on the south side of Chicago. My mother in south shore which is about sixty and south shore and my dad's seventy nine thousand emerald old an actual Irish neighborhood with Irish spirit. He's first generation my grandmother came from Ireland grandfather and everybody around them was Irish you know and then two who'd blocks down this away from them was the Polish neighborhood and Mary. The two shall meet. Yes but they would meet in the Catholic Church. Yes they would they. Yeah share different pairs there was it would also because it was done by your your your block where you live. You didn't get to choose chew so worshiping with the poll I will not worship. Oh Wow yeah well. That's I mean you know now at something good about Catholic authoritarianism exactly it goods you know it was the nation between the Irish and the poll there are more polls in Chicago than Warsaw. That's what I heard that yeah yeah and now there's just no from a few years ago having a for my mom's seventieth birthday renting a house in Michigan what part NPR below just South Holland. I don't remember exactly which town but it was right on the shore and all the houses around there were owned by polls by like the polls that came from police or that like 'cause Chilcot the idea. I feel like the real Polish. There were people there truly are people and I don't know if it's still the same but when I was there people that had lived in Chicago for fifty years and never spoke singlish. Yeah Yeah does not need to know because they stated they had it. They had one. I I worked in film production. One of my first time jobs gobs Mike Ditka absently minded absent minded lead wondered aloud if there was a Polish restaurants still there and this you know ask. Kissy production coordinator sends me to go find it with nothing more than a name Milwaukee Avenue so I'm driving up down looking for four-star Polska on Milwaukee Avenue stop people to ask no one spoke English oh really no vocabulary from people in their twenties to people people in their seventy s Polish Polish on Milwaukee and I did find star Polska and it was delicious eight there for many years did you yes. It's one of the only things I can think Mike Ditka for the five yes. There's a particular Polish Chicago accent to do you know Jeff Mitchell ski a second. He's perfect example. It's Kinda like this. what's his name. Michael mckean did it so well and superior doughnuts. What's the play particular accent. You just nailed it that well that Chicago accent. I can hear I still here when I go to you like when my sister all talk about her dad her dad and I just it's getting used to not hearing it and then sometimes well and then sometimes like that guy can a friend of mine just made fun of me because we're listening to us. There was an old song on the radio and I said she thought like Oh. I think that's so and so and I said like now it's Candy Stanton Candy Stanton Candy Stanton Ship Stanton. Yeah so what what kind of kid were you. I kind of the I mean. I was a kid yeah yeah. I was in middle of my family family. Yeah my family's pretty funny to all of that and they always put a priority. I mean most everybody in the family. Put a priority on even the unfunny ones ends and weren't so funny that they liked that they were surrounded by funding. My brothers very dry funny. It sneaks up on you and my sister's not that funny. She's although good audience since she's unintentionally funny and so is my mother completely unintentionally. Whatever went in her head came out of her mouth and what came out mouse? Sometimes it was mind being laughed I she didn't you didn't notice she's a little spacey and she kind of barely listened and and then her voice. Just Kinda just sir is there a psychological component to that church sounds like there might be one there. I think it was kind of a a not not one hundred percent commitment to hear now yeah yeah a little bit. She's Half Swedish and to win out the Swedish your Swedish take these Goddamn. DNA tests. I'm mostly English which nobody ever weird father. I'm barely Swedish in my DNA. I don't know how that have. They brought it. You know every every it was well like I mean the two things that we word that we really sort of people because it's the mainly the the the male names that get carried on the family that's right to carry on which was Richter and then and then my you know my grandmother's. Maiden name was lager quiz. She was Swedish issue but so it was German and Swedish. German isn't so funded Germans a little more problematic. A black German heritage is remember everything the German people around nine thousand nine hundred ninety two nine hundred forty one they really they were on fire right so the Swedish was a lot easier co yeah. They're Nice. They're a nice but depressed in the winter. The leaves Shit. They're depressed. Yeah there are there. are that was fantastic kind of hand yeah. There's such fantastic pictures of my grandmother's siblings who had she she was born in China to Swedish missionary and they had lived around the world and then when the boxer rebellion happened they had elite and like you know my my grandfather who was a physician to was almost murdered and had to be spoken up for an escape in the middle of the night right all these kids. I think there were maybe six of them. They went all over the world and most of them farmed but they ended up all over or Canada all over North American. I think somebody might have gone to England but they were split up. All they all just kind of they didn't stay together this kind of scattered and we're farmers in different things uh-huh and there are pictures of my grandmother and her siblings at things like in the fifties early sixties and it's just these look look at it like a lake house sitting at sitting at a picnic table just like ten plow horse people with the saddest looks like yea. It's summer. It's nice we pig. Just tease yeah yeah. Watch the point. Take no point Sala slog but yes so that's that does sound right at the show my mom that was kind of my moms. Seeing my dad was the happiest guy. Oh wow full corny yeah really good banks. He was a banker like local loan. We never became like a big you know he. I think he got up to vice president but just a really solid wonderful guy and people still say to me how you know. How's Your Dad. My Dad's gone for fifteen years now by you know we just loved. Your Dad. He yeah good solid plateau. No he was just really on my mom's. My Mom's dad was like that he was. He was everybody he just. He didn't even work really hard just like he sold real estate and he sold insurance. insperity mostly just had an office in Downtown York Ville Illinois and played cards. Isn't that great. Everybody loved everybody. Everybody just loved him because he was just a nice iceman now yeah and and and I you know like I'm very proud of that. I think is like it's that's like such to just be a nice nice person. Yeah that's kind and makes me happy like holy. Shit visit world me more than my on. My nieces and nephews are just you know a will bring up stories about him. They loved him and he made such an impact on them. it's a really great thing and you know my my sister. I was talking to my brother-in-law. We were on vacation. Yeah we do. We go on vacation. Every year we go to Santa Barbara and we were sitting in the lobby of the hotel waiting for everybody to come because we were going to walk on the beach and my brother-in-law started talk about my dad out and just kind of burst into tears miss him he made such an effect on my brother-in-law who's like you know he's been around for years in the family and just I I just loved him. Was Your Dad one of those people to this like just sort of blessed to be unencumbered by all the mental fucking. Shit and he went through it. He went through. What is a. Qa did yeah there was a you know my grandmother and my grandfather were at each other like viciously the there was a lot attention with the there were like five boys and one girl and my dad was the he was the second born and he was the the the diplomat and and he kept people to their sides over here. You go over there. You know he'd be up in the middle of the night is like a ten year old referee negotiating and he he ended up being that but it didn't encumber him. It didn't make him a bench full or oppressed or I didn't get the childhood he just anyway so great at practice going to let that go yeah some people some people they just get they get the luck of the draw and their serotonin levels they do it because there's certainly like with me. It's just because I kind of had that role. I was sort of the middle and was the peacekeeper and all of that Kinda Anna stuff when things were tough but yet but no it. I I've always had a brain. That's like I started to win. Things are good in my life. Be Like ah all that all the categories. I used to worry about you know Romance Job Future. We you know money. They're they're all good and yet. I still feel like what's the fucking point of yeah and that's where the meds come in good yeah. We are born with a certain nature yeah and they're you know fighting. That nature is is fruitless. I think the it's the acceptance you know like I I I don't. I don't get depressed. Knock on wood but I just did but there. I know some people who do you know what you have a depressive nature and it doesn't define who you are. No and there are remedies just like if you had diabetes you would take insulin. You're going to take a little whatever in what you know what for me a number of years ago. It just started. We're getting better. I'm still on medication down medication but I've been on medication forever and it was kind of like it was okay and I don't know what happened whether it was just age or something shifted something popped better but I still you know probably one of my most profound fears is at my brain goes bad again and you know when you don't have control over your moods you did it feel so powerless and and you know like when you're trying to get things right..

"jane lynch" Discussed on The Three Questions with Andy Richter

"Hello everyone welcome to another episode of the three questions with Andy Richter as usual. I'm Andy Richter later. Sorry guys but I'm excited because balancing out the word in the punch bowl is the fruit the punchbowl Jane Lynch. Isn't that high sweetie. I love Jane Lynch every don't like you. Oh sure really yes. I mean likely find people that are like people. You don't jealous people that don't know I mean I'm sure of course there's people in your life that don't like you. I mean I know plenty of but I mean is there. Anybody like do you find yourself like is that there's people like. I don't care for her work right. Oh you that you would hear about that. I wonder if I would hear about it. 'cause I don't Yeah Yeah Yeah. I don't here but it's not like on the street and says you know what I don't hear that would give them big old fucker finger yeah yeah. I guess the reason I said it's because I am aware of it because I'm on social media I. I'm on social media. You people you read. Sometimes I employ indeed. I do you know what I just in the last three weeks. I took a twitter break and got rid of my the APP in everything I've done a couple of. I have done that if you could just gets to be. It's like I'm wasting acing my time and this is also corrosive. It is corrosive and anybody can say anything yeah so every once in awhile I will look at the comments and sometimes there the the the I'll be called a dike or something about. I have a penis which I really wish I did so I'm aware talked about this severe penis envy but they're ugly but they are pretty fun yeah well. There are some that are ugly uncircumcised. Are It's not fair but that's that's an it's a once it's out of its socket. Did the same yeah the lesbian who knows this stuff. I know I know I know ah I know you. We've talked to the forever yeah yeah and yeah but no I. They are pretty fun. I mean and I I mean just like watching TV something to do with one of your hands funny you know there's no hard for us to do is dig in right exactly No. It's just kind of like it's almost like You know fidget spinner yeah exactly It's almost like it's so weird because we're women. We don't not just because it's hard to reach but we don't I don't I mean I'm sure there's some women and everybody in my circle. No nobody like master bates watching television like it's nothing it's there's there's a biological need. The guys have because of that. My friend says it's external humming is right there and also it's. It's it's just driven more than ours. Ours is yeah well Yeah I. I think there's the biological express your genetic material. As much as you can sure is the male thing yeah whereas female while she can't like spread her genetic material to six different places in one day. No of course you know which I mean. That's quite a man do that but you know it's it's a different print the propagation of the species of different thing. It's it's more choosy. s more like this is going to take some time and this is going to fuck up the rest of my life exactly so it was at that point you were just making about spreading your genetic material. I just read something about a doctor who was a fertility would be implanted his Owino so there. He's got all of this progeny. That's so crazy crazy and then Jeffrey Epstein to had like this fantasy fantasy. It was like for real yeah on a ranch in New Mexico yeah but he wanted to propagate. He thought he was like the ideal that uber human wanted to propagate himself that that's like a deep deep deep primitive thing that's in the mail the Spiezio but it's under control and most guys over civilized and this doctor the yeah the thing about like Epstein like okay. That's a hedge fund asshole. That's probably you know probably he's just a big grownup baby bully and also sick yeah yeah deeply deeply right. This doctor must have had a thing because you don't you don't go if you're the kind of person that's going to say. I had the opportunity to slip my seed to a bunch of unsuspecting women and make a bunch of my own progeny. You just stumble into you know. What do you call it fertility service. You don't go into that specialization. I found myself L. somewhere. Maybe subconscious to give them a little break on this and maybe it's not even a conscious subconscious. You find yourself there. That's why a lot of crazy. narcissists assists are therapists. Yes Oh it's healed itself and they don't even know it. I have I would say I have two friends who have among the craziest parent stories and their parents are there. Those are pissed like it. You can which is really something for somebody like me who's been to therapy and and and who believes in it so much to realize like. Oh my God this person that's helped me so much might secretly be a monster right complete mess and making everyone in their life. Miserable had a therapist just adored and she is. She's an odd duck. She holds an odd duck but she was really good and she was compassionate and an empathic and maybe not in a real life. I mean she had some. She's you know there were shadow edges but yeah. I think that when you're drawn into that there just seems that there's there's gotta be some Wacky nece. Oh you know I mean corrupt. Cops Yeah Crime I'm calm yeah yeah and it's like I'll be a cop but you know what I come and then I'm not necessarily just interested in the one side of the deal right you know and I just I. I think it's kind of a natural thing where there's a topic that you're interested in and if you're a not yeah you might go. Maybe I'll help other nut salads and people who are hungry for fame that WanNa go into acting and the great thing about that is if you don't have any talent. It's it's you can see it's evident but then you know now when this whole social media culture where an influencers you you don't have to have any talent just have to appeal to something to to maybe a thousand people and then that'll become two thousand a million and you're a year in Youtube influencers although there is something to that I don't understand it. It's all like it's you know. There's people that are that are movie. Stars Yeah and you and you look at them and you're like. Oh yeah that person that's a fucking movie star and they might not even be that great as an actor. They might do the same thing over and over and over again. I know there were there all day for that absolutely that person doing that thing again. He Brad Pitt the film. Even the what I call his dark years when he wasn't a good actor Maria I think fame overwhelmed him yeah and it got in the way of his ways got up got a light in this latest movie once upon a time when a satisfying movie is so good yeah so I was I did end up being a little bit and it's a common critique of that. We know what was the point of all of it for me. It was retelling that story. I wanted it yeah. You're still alive live. She had perhaps had the baby she had the baby. Yeah and I don't know I kind of like it was the Anti Christ all the Manson family only get a favor that killed in the know and what is weird to the I did have a problem because I don't just look at the women in that we're in the Manson family as as just evil killers yeah. I think they were sad. Lost Souls not. I'm not saying they're innocent. Say Without Charles Manson. I don't know if any of those woman women would have stabbed evil all in Carnet in the movie yeah there was like they were all bad sia and I don't know that I could ever write a movie where very very heroic man very heroic iconic. White man kills a woman by bashing her head repeatedly into things. Is this the Brad a pit that does spoiler alert people I should. I should have said that I yeah no. He kills one of the I don't know I found it so satisfied. It's you I I just to me. It was like okay I know I felt like the women were killed with so much more vitriol than the man was how we didn't you know. I'm not a very good family but I also love. I don't hate what's the name of the Bruce Lee. I didn't hate and I understand people are pissed off that he he presented Kinda like this Egomaniac care but it was also satisfying to see him beat them. Just the Geez throw into a car. That was fantastic mistake that I mean. I felt a little guilty about that. I'm like is this. Is this colonialism working in me. I'm just game of thrones so I my ability ready to stomach of violence and even just like there would be raping girls in the background. I'd be like Oh right right desensitized and it's also so another time well. The first thing I know people are beefing about it but personally is treated like a deity. So is it really so bad to have one like thing where like maybe maybe he was a dick so what move bio-pic but that's the thing about the social media cultures. Everybody wants to write the moving. Everybody wants to write Quentin Tarantino movie or they want to even right like a marvel movie or they want to be like pizza that they ordered all the ingredients and it's like Oh. Oh I don't like I don't like olives. Well then don't move. He's not a pizza. You remember the days when you go to a movie and you just accepted. It and that's what I did with a game of thrones I didn't read. I watched the whole season the whole show. This is your first time started season one episode one and I went all the way through and I was absolutely riveted and did not look up one actor on the Internet. I did not have a problem with any of the episode just like I don't like what they did. I the problem with anything yeah just one hundred percent accepted it and what it relief to watch television. Watch move away used to which as you suspend your disbelief that I started I started watching that thing just out of curiosity because it was just such a different thing for Hbo to do and I just happened into it like. Oh that thing of seeing ads for that I'LL L. Watch and I watch it from the beginning from the very beginning did yeah in real time and and and I was like the first season I I felt like a guilty pleasure me..

"She's kind of one of those takes the time and she just made a beeline for meryl streep and i was like coughing after and she gets up to meryl streep meryl streep does this because you've you think you're safe behind barricades throat and she said i'm jane lynch's mother and she went oh let's very nice to meet you all the various though is very ad so there's a picture of like meryl streep get on the red carpet you see my mother in the background admiral street got knowing about your barricaded what's about older lydia to running your exactly so was good was good we was it was it glee the kind of that you feel like pulled all the piece together i mean 'cause glee really to me people obviously knew you were because of a best and show but i think glee putting you like consistently people's living rooms every week on the lake that changes every right for sure how if you know walking through your life when you are familiar character like that it's it's different it was an adjustment it definitely was of and i'm pretty social person but it it it's it can be shocking sometimes i don't know if you experienced this but when you walk in just to get your coffee and in people like that that kind of a yeah well i mean like when you're in an elevator and then you get up to your hotel room and then you check twitter and someone goes to sell you pick in your nose and the elevator and you're like everywhere as i say yulo paranoid watching watching and most of the kids we most of the people who are.
