The problem in the northwest suburbs on the wbm Duncan traffic tip line at 8 5 5 7 88 5 5 7 8 76 23. Hi, my name is norm. I'm going south bound on Randall road through Carpenter's Bill. There is an accident at the intersection of Randall and Huntley road blocking the southbound lanes. Anybody going southbound who may want to divert to long meadow and reroute to Randall rose. Yeah, that is a great alternate to get around this closure on the southbound side of Randall road and carpenters also thank you for the call there. We have a couple of pretty big expressway issues as well on the Stevenson inbound at the tri state of multi vehicle crash, the left lane is blocked traffic is jam packed solid from the Mont road up to the triceps as you make your way through the dupage county stretch that Stevenson is a really slow go an hour 11 from three 55 to do Sabo Lake shore drive right now 42 and from the tri state. Alleged Rapist Danny Masterson Is Off the Hook

"And in really disappointing and shitty news, the case against saint Ginger haired rape obsessed actor Danny Masterson ended in a mistrial, the jury said they were unable to reach a verdict on any of the three criminal counts that this jerk off stays, I mean, you just look at him and you know he's guilty. Just looking at him and you know the 6 man 6 woman panel told LA superior court judge Charlene almeida that we're stuck after thorough and considerable discussion. It's clear that we as jurors are adamant about maintaining our individual positions on each of these three counts. So the judge formally declared a mistrial, which is something I was nervous about because that's what the Church of Scientology really wanted since day one of this testimony back in late October. There was a retrial date of March 17th. Back to the penciled in, meanwhile, masters in history on $3.3 million bail, there'll be a hearing set for January 10th, but likely before that, the act is defense team plans to file to have all the charges tossed out. And that move is based on the inclination of the jury made public just yesterday. The jurors spoke the downtown LA clot room, and they said they were deeply divided on all these three counts. On count one, it was ten to two for not guilty. Count two saw 8 going for not guilty for for guilty. And count three was 7 for guilty. I'm so 7 for not guilty 5 for guilty. Now all the Jane does can look forward to is getting down to business with the civil suit that was put on pause. That's not really what they wanted the most. They wanted Danny Masterson to serve jail time and maybe understand what rape really feels like, but maybe just maybe he could be ruined financially in a civil suit. That would be considered a moral victory,

Coming up right after traffic and weather together on the 8s. At 7 O 8 sponsored by first eagle mortgage, here's bode Iran. From the new crash in Lake county on the wbm Duncan traffic tip line at 8 5 5 7 88 5 5 7 80 76 23. Hi, my name is Jim going to southbound and route 12 through Wakanda. There's a crash in the left lane right before old brand, which has traffic backed up on southbound rain road all the way through Wakanda back to route one 73. Yeah, traffic is really heavy here. You might want to bail out news route 59 instead that may be a better choice for you to get around this and you can get back to Rand road or U.S. 12 here from half day road. That may be the better choice if you get two Lake Zürich, but pretty messy traffic here. Thank you for the call. On the expressways, the Eden's inbound 24 minutes from Lake Cooke, the outbound side of the Eden you're okay, the Kennedy in about 45 minutes from O'Hare 27 in from the junction right now, the outbound Kennedy 27 onto O'Hare. The Dan Ryan inbound 22 minutes from 95th in a downtown outbound on the Ryan, you're good. 57 and the bishop reported about 22 minute drives as well from IED into the Dan Ryan. Du sabol Lake shore drive northbound traffic is now a heavy from soldier field up to grand park, the southbound side of the drive you're okay, tri state totally north down slow go from 95th up to the Stevenson of the southbound tri state fine. No Jane Adams or Reagan totally delays to report three 55 north down still heavy from north avenue to army trail, Cruz just cleared a crash out of the left lane. This is a crash where an SUV struck the wall and the driver decided didn't want to have anything to do with it and the driver walked away down to army trail below three 55. So not only is there activity up on three 55 on top, but an army trail below three 55, there's plenty of state police asking the driver some serious questions. Glyn Jones Talks All Things Icebreaker Finance

"We'd start off with icebreaker finance. You guys made some headlines. I think it was two or three months ago now where icebreaker finance worked with maple finance, which is a lender of sorts. I'm going to allow you to explain it to listeners since you're going to be better than that, than I am. Do you guys made some headlines that you were moving to the mi fi sector right when all these mining firms were showing signs of holding distressed assets and interest payments that they were not able to make. So you guys were sort of seeing as maybe the savior coming in the 11th hour that was probably not a fair way of positioning it. But I think that's how a lot of people interpret it at the time. Now we're having you on the show to show you to talk about what you guys are boring against or lending out to people. But I hand it off to you. We'll talk about icebreaker finance maple finance and get a rundown on what those two are and how they interact together. So we earlier this year. And we really launched it with two thoughts in mind. The first is that we are of the view within the team that private credit markets going on chain with complete transparency of where do the capital come from and where is the capital going to on what terms, but with still all of the enforcement that is customary in any kind of commercial land. All of the security perfection, real world assets, collateral, all of that kind of good stuff. We think that's a tremendous opportunity that we're really keen to be a part of. So we're a collection of commercial bankers being in and around the game for a long time. I've spent more than 20 years in the industry, mostly the northern hemisphere. And we formed ice breaker, really, that we want to be part of what we think will be a real sea change in terms of how private credit markets work. And if that's a sort of a macro thesis, then within that question, but where do we want to start the journey? Well, for us, we wanted to start in the Bitcoin mining and digital asset infrastructure provider sector of borrowers that wanted to facilitate movement of capital from lenders to those borrowers and do it all on Jane.

"Quick detour here because you brought this up and I was just reading this this morning. This environmental government issue that we're talking about ASC stuff is there's a lot of concern among Wall Street right now, especially going into directors meetings and elections or directors and some of the rulings that they can't block the groupings of here's the directors that the company is pushing here, the ones that the activist, if you would push, is this something that, again, any sort of branches all from what semi free was doing, is this a concern on or is it just mainly just fear of companies, but is there a real concern that activists and others who are pushing these agendas could get footholds on some of these large boards buying more than others? There is a real concern and it's going to be on top of sarbanes oxley and you know which the rush through after enron, which I've written about and affected earlier and died Frank, it's going to mean less companies go public in the first place or only go public when they're very big and who loses out from that. You know, mom and pop investor. And again, these agendas are going to be at the expense of the financial well-being of Joe and Jane for four-o-one-ks. It was kind of two sides at the same time. They allowed the SEC allowed fraud and an ESG firm to apparent fraud in ESG firm like FTX to faster and they're having their encouraging all these agendas that harm investor return.

The Importance of Words in Your Marriage With Dr. Mike Bechtle

"Let's start with today's discussion by looking at the power of words. I mean, people talk about this, the Bible talks about this, that the power of life and death is in the tongue we mentioned that last time, we could be pretty casual about the words we use, probably the most casual that I'm using my words unwisely is in my marriage. I'll say something to Jane just to maybe push a button and I would imagine you would say that's really not very smart, Jim. So in that context, why is that such a danger? It's a danger because especially in a marriage context because we use so many words. We're there for so long. Longer you've been married when you're first dating, you behave yourself. And you say words that you're trying to impress them or get them to like you and it grows and finally you marry the person and then you don't have the same vocabulary. You don't have the same well you add to your vocabulary, okay? And then you're able to use words, but sometimes you're just tired and you say something and it's just not as healthy as it could be otherwise or it's not as affirming or it doesn't build the other person up. When I look at a verse like ephesians four 29 that says don't say anything that doesn't build up. That's the characteristic of everything we do. And I think especially in a marriage, we just have so many conversations over the years, it's easy to just be in a place where we forget to use cautious words or healing words.

Sarah wechter, Jenny, is the city CEO whisperer who you profile in this piece. She has just a fascinating story here, including some pivotal times in her life that it seems like really shaped her career. Why call her the CEO whisperer, though? Yeah, I mean, I think fascinating is definitely the right word for it. I mean, she's been a key counselor to a roster of Citigroup's leaders from chairman, dick Parsons, Michael O'Neill. She then moved on to be chief of staff to former CEO Mike Corbett and now as head of HR under CEO Jane Fraser, so she's really always been in the room. Over the past decade or so and really had a front row seat to a lot of the big changes at city in that time. She's actually certainly gotten their attention and brought about some changes. Yeah, no, I think that's exactly right. She's definitely not shying away from some of the big culture war topics that we have come to pay close attention to. So she's put them kind of squarely in the crossfires on the return to work conversation. She led their vaccination drive where she required all employees to get vaccinated or replaced termination in the U.S.. What's in your arm you use no jab? No. Yeah, no job, no job. Okay, no, you have no job, there it is. One of the strictest vaccination policies on Wall Street for sure. Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill's Weird 'Adult' Relationship

"Millie Bobby Brown. Another one, she's 18 years old, this kid we've been seeing us and she's a kid on Stranger Things. She's developed into a very pretty young woman. 18. My daughter is 18. I can't talk this way about young girl. I can't say women, she's a young girl. She's dating Henry Cavill. And this is why it's weird 'cause for many years, Henry Cavill, you know, there was always a story about him liking very underage girls. That followed him everywhere for years, especially on the crazy days and nights, boards. Dad, Henry Cavill is got an a hankering for underage girls. Nobody wanted to believe it. I used to wonder he was dating my former friend who I used to call female MMA fights with. Gina Carano, who became an actress and is now in all sorts of movies, then she got in trouble, so now she makes movies for Ben Shapiro's company, but for a while he was dating her. And Jane is a beauty. Gene is fun. She's beautiful. She can kick your ass, she can take care of herself. Smart and that didn't last. And then he's back out there looking for youngins. I don't know. So now he's with Millie Bobby Brown, he's 39 she's 18. It's a big difference, bro big difference. And she says, you know, our relationship is very adult. It's a healthy one. He puts me in my place when I need to be put in my place. The things she says about this relationship. It's kind of weird. It's different because I grew up with Noah and Charlie. I meant that when I was ten. So for me it does feel like your school makes it Henry it feels like a real adult relationship. Like a really good friendship, a really healthy one. One that we have terms and conditions. Okay, can you elaborate on that shit? I know Henry, he has terms and conditions with me. I'm not allowed to ask about his personal life. Excuse me? It's like Millie, shut up, and I'm like, no, I understand completely. What kind of relationship is this? He's very strict with me, which I appreciate. Okay, can we start playing The Twilight Zone music? This is weird.

Danielle and Jessie Jane Duff Discuss Biden's Recession Attitude

"I'm delighted to welcome our guest today, Jesse Jane Duff. She is a gunnery sergeant of the Marine Corps retired. Jesse, thanks for joining us. Hey, so good to be here with you, Danielle. I'm excited. Throw it at me. We're ready to roll. Oh my gosh, great. Okay. Well, today we're going to be talking a lot about Biden. So Jesse, I know we were on the women for Trump tour together. You were on veterans for Trump. You were co chair of that. So I know that we both love Trump, but I want to start out by asking you a little bit about Joe Biden's recent interview. In an interview with CNN, Jake tapper asked Biden, he said, the JPMorgan Chase CEO said the U.S. is likely to enter a recession in the next 9 months. Bank of America says the U.S. could start losing a 175,000 jobs a month. Gas prices are on the rise again, should the American people prepare for a recession, he asked Biden. So Biden said he doesn't believe there will be a recession, and people keep saying this to him every 6 months in his presidency. So he says, quote, if it is, it will be a very slight recession that is, we'll move down slightly. Quote. But Jesse, what is this exactly mean with Biden saying he does expect a slight recession and why do you think he has this nonchalant attitude about this? So I guess you could say that the first thing is is that it's very confusing to ever figure out what Biden means. Correct? Because we don't know where this is ever coming from. Is this what his handlers are telling him or is he essentially trying to be dishonest or is he so confused that he truly believes that he has a robust economy still, and we're not in a recession. We've had two consecutive quarters where the economy has slowed down, which death by definition. We're in a recession now. For him to be in this type of denial, simply demonstrates that they don't want to be honest with us. And they want to reshape the narrative so that those people that actually want to believe this Kool-Aid that they're being fed are going to just sit back and say, oh, okay, well, Joe Biden says it's not so bad. I find it very hard to believe that anybody following politics, Republican Democrat independent, or otherwise, is going to buy into this.

"Picture in because I've got a tape down the back. Thank you. Two pieces of it. Oh, there it is. All right. This is the brochure. This is how dumb we are. We would run these off. This was runoff on a resistance press. The guy had a printing press set up in the basement of an old an old house on the campus of the University of Chicago. And he was down there all day long running stuff. We must have printed millions of these things. Okay, let's see, what's the title there? Abortion, a woman's decision, a woman's right, and there's a whole philosophy. A lot of pros. And here a lot of graphics, just the text. It's just an 8 and a half by 11 inch piece of paper folded into four sides, and here it is Chicago women's liberation union, and there's their address. The abortion counseling service. That was the official name, abortion counseling service, but everyone came to know them by another. There were no cell phones in those days. There were just land lines. So we were meeting in my house and I said, well, you can use our phone, but you know I don't want to have our personal calls get mixed up with the service calls. So why don't we say call this number and ask for Jane? And I didn't know anybody named Jane. And I thought nobody was named Jane anymore. 6 four three three 8 four four. Who picked up the phone? Usually I did. It was you. Well, my husband, if my husband was a home alone, he would pick it up because he was home all day working on his dissertation. You're saying that was your phone number. That was my phone number. That was our phone number, yeah. That was, that was in our apartment. For all you folks in Chicago, 5700 block of kimbark street. So you handed out, it sounds like tons of these things in Chicago. Whenever we had to speak out on a woman's issue, we brought along whole stack of them. We had stacks of these in the dormitories. There were several rather liberal churches. Oh, so we had a little stack of them in the narthex of the church. And so was your phone ringing all day or how often did you get calls? Oh, we got a lot of calls. If not at first, it took a while for things to get picked to pick up. And if you pick it up and they ask for land or Eleanor, well, we knew it was a personal call. Or they said, I'd like to speak with Jane, please. I'll take your name and number and I'll have her call you, or I'll have one of her contacts call you. And then we would write those down on three by 5 cards. We would have a meeting. We would pass out these three by 5 cards. And I would take, you know, people that I thought I could counsel or people that were nearby or people that I could meet with. Or could relate to one of them was a policewoman from Chicago. I took a lot of the middle aged women because I was one of the older older counselors. And I was married and a lot of the counselors were graduate students and undergraduate students. Everybody took people that they thought they could. Although this person lives in my dorm or I don't want to do this person because I know her and I don't think she wants me to know that that kind of thing, you know. And they had to trust us. We had an abortionist. We knew he was not a real doctor. He was just a nice guy. And he Mike, Mike, was his name. I think he probably learned how to perform abortions either as a medic in the military. There were a lot of people. I guess that needed abortions or who had girlfriends who needed abortions when they were in the military. I don't know. I have never been in the military. How many years does this go on for? We left Chicago in 19 72, early 1972, and the day we drove out of Chicago was a Saturday, I believe. It seems to me it was a Saturday. Maybe it wasn't. They were raided and busted. So, by whom? By the point. Sorry, you mean the police because the abortion counseling service that James were rated and busted. Because somebody complained and the police, they didn't bother them because they weren't hurting anybody. We weren't hurting anybody. We weren't making loads of money off of people. And they wanted us around because they probably might have needed us too. But somebody's sister in law was getting an abortion, and they found that immoral or whatever. They took it upon themselves. To complain to the police and with a complaint the police had to act. So the police raided the place that all this was happening, and my husband and I were driving out stony island avenue to the interstate to come to Washington. And for the longest time, I had the biggest guilt complex about that. Because your friends got arrested. Did they get sent to jail? Prison? No, because what happened was they got themselves a very bright, intelligent lawyer. Who kept delaying and delaying and delaying until finally roe versus wade was passed. And then the judge threw the case out. How many abortions do you think you helped women get in the time you guys were active? Well, they have a record of 11,000 abortions. 11,000. One one comma zero zero zero. Was there any organization at the time that helped as many women as you.

"Manner. Minute and passionless how brilliant, minute and passionless. So Laura, you picked up there what I think is one of the themes about the horror content of a lot of the stuff we're talking about, which is the relationship between women and men. And after something in disguise, she published the short story, mister Rome, which feeds directly into this. We don't want to say too much about that. She is married to happily married for a while at least to the novelist kings of the Amos. Bringing up, trying to help bring up his children and it would be good to hear, let's hear it from Martin amis again as a kind of witness to the differences between their methods to reading his father's method and Elizabeth Jane Howard's method as a writer. It was a very interesting contrast, Kingsley was a grinder. And no matter how hung over and terrible he failed. He would truck off fearfully into his study. He confided that every day he thought he would lose the neck. But he would go and put his nose to it and he would come out at the other end with 500 words, 800 words. Jane didn't disappear into her study to last possible minute. She would be gardening or cooking or staring out of the window, smoking. And then she would, in a flurry, she would disappear into her study. And you'd hear the mad clatter of the tight right of keys, and then she would emerge. An hour later, having written twice as much as my father would in a whole day, I liked mister wrong, which is the title story of a collection. Terrifying story about a murderer, marvelously sustained atmosphere and very well written in her way. My father used to pick on a grammar a bitch. You know, there wasn't textbook grammar, but it was always better than his so called improvements that he suggested, which were technically correct, but lost that instinctive flow that she had. How revealing that is, right? Pick on her grammar, right? Well, I just wanted to say something that's related to that. And.

And read the prospectus carefully before investing. Hello. From wonder media network, I'm Jenny caplan, and this is a manica. This month, we're talking about troublemakers and villains. We're covering stories from across a spectrum, from women who made good trouble to women who thrived in illicit industries, to villains in the truest sense of the word. Today we're talking about a villain. If you're listening with children, you may want to sit this one out. This woman was responsible for at least 31 deaths throughout her career as a nurse. Despite the string of fatalities that followed in her wake, she was regarded as a bright and promising caretaker. That is, until her crimes caught up to her. We're talking about jolly Jane toppin. Jane was born honora Nora Kelly in Boston around 1857. She was the youngest of three daughters born to two Irish immigrants. Nora's mother died of tuberculosis when Nora was just a few years old. Nora's father was abusive and was prone to periods of heavy drinking. By 1860, Nora and one of her sisters were sent to Boston female asylum. There was little to no state support for children at that point, so it was the closest thing available akin to an orphanage. Nora left at the age of 8 to work as an indentured servant to a widow named Anne toppin. It was at the top in house that Nora became Jane. And disliked the Irish, so she changed the Irish honora to Jane and told all guests that Jane was Italian. She raised Jane alongside her daughter, Elizabeth, but never officially adopted Jane. As a member of the top and family, Jane attended school, she didn't make many friends. She often lied and told on her classmates, despite the fact that she herself was suspected of petty theft and spreading gossip about kids she didn't like. On her 18th birthday, Jane was freed from her indentured servitude and was given $50. Still, she remained a worker in the top and House for another decade. And passed away in the 1870s and Elizabeth was married a few years later. According to some sources, Jane may have been engaged at one point, but her fiance left her for someone else. In 1887, in her early 30s, Jane decided to embark on a career. She enrolled at the nursing school at Cambridge hospital. She worked 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. She presented herself to other nurses and patients with a kind and vibrant disposition. It was there that she earned the nickname, jolly Jane. Jane was heading down a dark path. Years later, investigators would uncover the Jane's fascination with murder began during her years in nursing school. She may have deliberately falsified records and in some cases, even distributed incorrect medication to her favorite patients in order to make them stay longer at the hospital. She dosed patients with just enough poison to harm them. And then, nursed them back to hell. An alarming number of elderly patients died in her care. By her own count, she may have killed up to a dozen people by poison. By the time she finished her training, Jane was on her way to securing a job at the Massachusetts general hospital. But her time there was cut short after she was suspected of petty robbery and negligence. When she left, she did so without a nursing license. Still, over the next 8 years, Jane became one of the most successful private nurses in Boston. All while continuing to commit murder. Jane killed patients, and she also killed others. Sometimes, for personal reasons. In 1899, she went on holiday and invited her foster sister Elizabeth to join her in a small cottage. Elizabeth died of a mysterious apoplectic stroke, caused by genes poison a few days later. Jane also killed her own gain. In 1900, a friend of hers named Myra, suddenly died of peritonitis. At the funeral, Jane proudly told others she owed it to Myra to take over her job, which included an apartment and a regular paycheck. Jane quickly lost the job and returned to the small cottage she'd vacationed in after killing Elizabeth. When Jane didn't have the money to pay for rent, she poisoned the landlord's wife. Then, Jane moved in with the now widowed and elderly landlord Alden Davis to care for him. Within weeks, he was dead, along with his sister and two of his daughters. The death of an entire family in the span of a month was notable enough to alert authorities. The remaining members of the Davis family ordered a toxicology report, and by October 29th, 1901, Jane was arrested for murder. Chains arrest caused a media frenzy. She was a rare case, a female serial killer. Soon, paper started analyzing her from her breakfast tablets to her time at Boston female asylum. After her trial, the New York journal published what they called Jane's confession. Though it's unconfirmed whether or not she wrote it. In and out of court. Jane's sanity became the subject of conversation. She insisted on her sanity, saying she could not be insane because she knew while committing the murders that they were wrong. Nevertheless, on June 23rd, 1902, Jane was found not guilty by reason of insanity, and was committed for life in the Taunton insane hospital. Though she was a favorite patient at the beginning of her stay, Jane soon grew paranoid. Ironically, it said she refused to eat food because she thought it was poisoned. Jane passed away in 1938, at the age of 81. All month, we're talking about troublemakers and villains. Special thanks to the blues Kaplan,.

"So We're back and let's see calamity. Jane meets wild bill hickok they fall in love love and settled down and have a family and live happily ever after i believe and that was it and now but they were really really close Everything i read really stressed the importance of their friendship over the years and how he really took her under his wing. And then when i started reading articles about whether or not she was Gay and in a situation where she was not allowed to live that way. And you know. Speculation abounds because of things like she dressed like a man and she hung out with them in and she never had any boyfriends There is There are stories of her getting married later in life and having a child but i also saw some articles that call that into question saying that. Maybe that didn't even happen. Well there's no certificates and right on record But it made me wonder about while bill hickok and if he was Maybe knew the deal and was sympathetic to what was going on so he was her beard. Well not beard. Because he didn't act as her boyfriend or anything but just maybe sympathetic to her I mean that's what i cooked up in my head. at least i gotcha. I had seen their their plenty of Articles that put the two together romantically Some say that she she yeah she was in him and he wasn't into her And it really kind of demonstrates like just how hard it is to pin down fact from fiction in her story in particular but the is it is factual that she in bill. Hitchcock were close friends at the very least in deadwood And that she was there when he was murdered in august of eighteen. Seventy six when he was shot in the back of the head. By jack mccall at point blank range while bill was At a at a gambling table in a saloon in in deadwood. Yeah which was very tough on her. Obviously so she left deadwood pretty shortly after that and then again spent you know the next Seems like ten or fifteen years really travelling all over the place. She never stayed in one place for long Think in the early eighteen eighty. She bought a ranch on the yellowstone river but only stayed there for about a year when to california only stayed there about a year eventually went to texas and this is where she supposedly Married clinton burke in el paso and then they went back to colorado and ran a hotel as a family but again i saw that called into speculation yes. Supposedly there are corroborating account of witnesses seeing her with a young child In some of these places so it is possible. She did have a daughter But again there's no birth certificates or anything anyway. Apparently some women came forward in the fifties or sixties and claim to be while bill hickok and calamity. jane's daughter oh but was was exposed as a fraud later. Yeah no that was disappointing. I thought so too right there at the end of the legs out from under you know Eventually close to nineteen hundred In eighteen ninety five she said. Hey you know what i can do. Really good is shoot a gun. And there's this guy out here but she really cross paths with all the the biggies of the old west She hooked up with buffalo bill in.

"Hey and welcome to the shortstop. I'm josh and there's chuck and there's dave and this is short stuff so giddy up partner earls calamity. Janes can shoot in the foot. Did you watch deadwood. No i tried to. And i was like i. I i don't have the emotional investment for this okay Clammy jane was one of the great characters on the tv show. Deadwood great character of the old west and. This is a tough one to research. Because when you're researching some of these people from this era of the old west you start to realize historians admit as much that it's hard to get to the real truth because nobody really knows a lot of the information we have on these characters from back then are very much written by people who wrote their bios for the wild west shows. They did which are obviously going to be changed in pumped up and it's just hard to get the real story But claiming jane is worth talking about in so far as how much we know about her. Yeah and she actually wrote an autobiography which apparently was even more pumped up in full of it than a dime store novels that were written about her but the the point of that is that she was a legend in her own time. Quite quite honestly in actuality yeah. I'm not going to use the But she was born mary. Jane canary which is a great name in and of itself but she does have one of the all time great nicknames. Calamity jane or calamity jane depending on where you come from And i'll go ahead and spoil. This is interesting. He said the l word. Because that was a showtime show. I believe about gay women and it is very possible that calamity. Jane was a gay women at a time where you could not live as such There is speculation about that. And we'll get to that here and there through the thing. But i read a few articles. That said yeah. Calamity jane was probably gay. And then the nineteen sixties. "Yeah and she's making fun of it and then in like modern day in ten years ago when twi that was coming out in the movies are coming out. It was like childish. Teenager like wasn't taking seriously either. While i'm not gonna get one hundred percent behind twilight and say like it is a must read for everyone who is serious about literature a you don't have to read it a the i enjoyed reading it when i was younger and actually read disappeared years ago and was surprised how much i still enjoyed it and like i was ready to rip it apart and was like i actually don't mind. I enjoyed reading up the first book series again. But i do think there are things that don't translate in the gothic like maybe it's part of the reason that it can be looked down upon or considered not serious 'cause they are some very extreme elements in older nineteenth century gothic literature in present day literature. Yeah so. I don't know. I thought we could maybe get into like what doesn't translate in the gothic specifically jane eyre to modern times Shot feels very in the moment. Gothic literature to me feels like the result of the social structures of the time. And like when you're a young like like to be in that time young educated woman to be eighteen years old. You basically have nothing. You can't use your education for anything unless you want to be alone for your whole life like a lot of times if you became a governess than that was like your fate like you couldn't really get married after that and no one was really interested in what women thought or what they had to say like the the literature that came before this. You know the novel very much developed. Four women women were the ones who are reading it happened it started off mostly as histories and romances but the more dramatic ones were the ones that did better because it was built in. Really extreme escapism. I've like women. No one was interested in their interior life and they literally did nothing except raise children like run run a home to have novels where there is this world where everything had a deeper meaning. Everything was more meaningful than there were symbols everywhere and like there were mysteries to be solved you know. There's sort of puzzles and depth and meeting hidden around every corner and sensitive weight and history to it as well. I think yes that that kind of longing for escapism arising out of patriarchy still exists. But it's quite different like if you think about twilight. They have the elements of gothic literature. They had to manufacture this whole other world of vampires and werewolves in order to have those same elements and then in order to have a guy who's really old but also in high school.

"She now equips women and some men with the tools to transform into healthier and stronger versions of themselves to live life with reality. Thank you jane for joining us. Really really appreciate it. You're welcome thank you for having me. Yeah this is going to be an awesome discussion. I love talking about these kinds of subjects. you know getting into fasting in different things and how they affect the body. I think that's totally part of having hope and moving forward in life is that's a huge part of it right and sleep affects just about every aspect of our lives. So let's let's dive right into this and talk about some of these subjects. Okay so you know like you said. I reached a very low point for ten years. And kinda i hit rock bottom when i was in college and that was a place where i felt very hopeless. I didn't like who i was. I didn't like anything about myself I didn't open my circle to anybody. And i didn't let anyone or i didn't enter anyone else's circle so i was very isolated and and and really thought i was completely unlovable so i was at a point where i felt very hopeless and then I had kind of an aha moment and realized that. I have this knowledge with my clinical laboratory science degree and with athletes. And i merged those two worlds and and transformed not only my body but Transformed my mind as well and i built up so much hope that it has almost become like a shield of of armor and i feel like nothing can break that hope in me now because when i start to feel weak i look back at each one of the pillars. I say which one of these pillars is not strong. And then i fortified that pillar. And i've got my shield in place and i am. I'm living with hope. I loved that analogy. That you have built this fortress or the shield that will fight off any anything that has been you've struggled with in the past. I love that so jason. i left quote unquote. You really quick here when you love who you are. You become healthy. Strong and unstoppable. This is true transformation body and mind. This is the gift that wanna share. So that was a quote that you jane share and we love talking about the body and mind. I love the mind. Because i think it's so powerful. So walk us through one of these The pillar so about recovery. What what do you mean by that. And how can people fortify their shield. Okay so recovery. A big part of recovery asleep and we not only as a society. Don't get enough sleep. But we don't get Quality sleep so even though you might be in bed for six or seven years you might be going to bed later or earlier in the morning. So you're not getting the quality sleep that your body needs so.

But we don't get Quality sleep so even though you might be in bed for six or seven years you might be going to bed later or earlier in the morning. So you're not getting the quality sleep that your body needs so sleep is a big piece of it but there's also other recovery components that you can take advantage of a lot of people May have a massage and that is a great way to let your body recover because we put our bodies through so much every day that we need to work some of that tension some of that stress and some of those tactic fluids out of our body and so massage. Whether it's somebody giving you a massage or whether it's the myo fazul massage with a foam roller that's a great form of recovery. Recovery also can be hydration because when our bodies aren't hydrated they can't function properly leaving camp detoxify so hydration is a big piece of recovery and then also being outside the sunshine producing that getting that Sunshine on your skin in your eyes to produce vitamin d. That is a huge piece of recovery. Because it resets your circadian rhythm so that you can get that better sleep at night so sleep is a big piece. But there's a lot of other components to recovery as well.

"The pink taste. It's an extraordinary isn't it. It's known around the world. Everyone knows that testing early january in sydney the assu jay is the pink taste and it's a phenomenal fundraiser foundation. They must be times where you get to stop and look at the sydney cricket graham when it's packed and everyone's in pink that must be a wonderful endorsement of john's dream. Well i know you've what's incorrect yourself. You know how you know. It's a game steeped in tradition so to see that game embrace the color pink and there's no the sporting code who does what cricket does for a charity. So not only. Do we raise much needed funds to continue the workers. There's still families and communities in australia. Do not have free access to oppress scanners it allows. It gives us a platform to not only raise funds but to talk about the great work. The amazing needed work. That are nurses joe every single jay. Mcgraw day i walk into the ground of the j our second home for many years and i look around and i have a little chat with a go to the g. i walk onto that onto the pitch and i sit back and a small one that i'm allowed on the pitch because we were never got the pitch as you know but to sit there and i know that she would just love it she would just love anisa. Cy be so grateful not only to the crooked in community and cricket australia and all the you know those who help was that game together. A lot of work even to call it the pink test. You know that that's massive. She would just absolutely love it as a cricket fan or think. There's a beautiful arnie. Because you know gleams figures you about one hundred and twenty four days measures. He took five hundred sixty three week. It's there's not grain stand named after him but on die three of the pink test. There is the giant mcgrath stain. That and every single year. I remind him another year. Glenn still no statue of you. steve was. We've got nothing as you say. You know old men young men. Everybody's wearing the color pink because it's not just a color pink anymore. It's more than the color issue show of solidarity where we come together in a color. Butch to show your support for those families right across australia. Who are going through an incredibly difficult time of a diagnosis of breast cancer. So it's become more than the game. So tracy when you think of you'll beginnings where are we at now in terms of the number of brisk gainers. "What we do in. She said. I don't know but why i'm going to do is i'm going to set it up. And when the kids get to an age and the boys stop playing cricket because we traveled so much. This is what i want to focus. Focus on but personally a conversation we had was. We wanted to do this because now as mothers. We gave our time to the husbands. Who came and went. You know so they were the focus and then it was a children so our friendship came right down the line and she said to me trace if we do this we never ever have to feel guilty about being a high tea. You know having a busy champagne and yeah boy. She say they were playing cricket. This is work so selfishly. It was so we could come together and not feel guilty in helping others so she set the foundation up but it was in two thousand and three was when she knew what the mission would be and that mission came because she had star treatment again. So which was really difficult for her because she would never let glenn myself go with a for treatment because she'd say no because then it's bled into every part of my life so if she went to treatment and glamorgan a phone call and then i get a phone call and my phone call came and that phone call now look back changed so many things about life for us because she said to me trace. She's really happy. And i said are you because this was not chemotherapy voice jane and she said i. Did you go for treatment. She said i did but today. She said i'm an angel. What did you think thought she was tripping. Listen don what are you going to lie down on. Bring me back and she started laughing. She went no stead today. I'm an angel. Trace on the angel is called alison. Schweitzer and angel is a breast kenner. Angel is now going to give me the freedom to tell you what's really going on in my head because i've been allowed to leave over the hospital. And she went on to say she not slept and how bad she fell. And you know. Look she was going into james. Holly's bedroom ni- you know looking at the babies have to fight this. She said now. I could leave all the other hospital and she said to me. Don i know what we need to do. I said what are we doing. She said raising funds for breast canner sizes. We're gonna let every struggling family one. Dr hope feel the way. I do walking out with that hospital on the darkest of my life while they pump that poison into my veins hoping that will save my life and we are going to make sure that families feel what i feel and right there and then that phone call. She said the mission for what was then the mcgrath foundation. And what an extraordinary staff that was and you saw growth on my straightaway. You sort of got into it and you really start planning but were you a bit overwhelmed at the very start of of actually putting a foundation to get into what. We're doing a clue. But what we did have glenn. We have passion. We had friendship. We had determination. We wanted to make a difference to people's lives because we both saw the difference that alison had mehta jan's life so we have to experience. All jane huddle experience and she just wanted to make a difference. She truly just wanted to make a difference and help people feel a little bit..
