"Only two other schools, besides Virginia. Oh, Florida state UNC, sorry. Okay, so we're on. We're all in. Here's the point. Over the past 8 years, nobody has finished at the top of the ACC other than Virginia Florida state or North Carolina. So it should be unsurprising, I think that the pre season poll list the team that most people believe is gonna be the best team in the ACC. And that's most humans and computers. They both have duke, top of the ACC. Duke's tenth and both of those computers. So the top four in the ACC poll, it's duke. And the three schools that have won ACC titles in the past 8 years, Florida state, North Carolina, and Virginia. Florida state won an outright title in 2020, UNC won the outright in 2016 and 17 and then UNC shared it with UVA in 2019 and every other year is an outright Virginia is an outright Virginia regular season title. So I've got Virginia in my top 25 and one. I also have them forth in the ACC. But this is where you're really just trusting Tony Ben. I don't think it's dumb. But you're really just starting to bit it. He lost his top three scores. Sam Hauser, Jay Hoff, Trey Murphy. And he only brings back two players who averaged at least 8.6 minutes per game. Their preseason 45th at kin pop. It's tough. That's one of my 5 biggest storylines. So here's what I got. Coach K retirement. Hubert UNC will get to that in a minute. Number three, what I just mentioned, the league just not being elite. Talent pool collectively lower than it's been. Only headlining freshmen in this league is palo ban Caro. No one else, maybe we see a keels or a Griffin move in there, but not a lot of high level freshmen talent here. Number four Matthew Cleveland a Florida state. Yeah. He's a 5 star. He's a 5 star. I don't know if he'll wind up being more than the fourth most important player on that list. To your point, how about this? We had to turn in our ACC ballots earlier on the week. And it's like top three for player of the year, go to the air freshman of the year. And on freshman of the year, I went, Paula, and then I was like, okay, now what do I do? So I got you what you're saying. Here's what I had. I got a little spicy with it. Paulo, Benny Williams at Syracuse, because I think he'll wind up having the numbers. And then I actually went Trevor heels. That was my one, two, three. I thought about Cleveland, but I just don't know if he left the numbers there. But exactly. I went Ben Carole Cleveland Griffin, I think, something like that. Storyline four, and then 5 is going to be a Virginia. We can continue on that thread. You have Roy retire, K is going to retire. Who's next? Will we see laron egg at retire at the end of the season? Jim beheim is he going to continue to coach his kids and only his kids or is he going to retire? Is he going to continue on? Mike bray is nearing the end of his contract. I don't think he'll be retiring after this year. Although there is a thought that if Notre-Dame really stinks, maybe they sever ties at the end of the season. I don't think nobody's going to really stink. But the point is, another big storyline in the ACC this year is we're in the midst of some big changes. Not just a Hall of Fame legends, but some of the older established coaches that have been the final fours and done really good things in the tournament. We'll see on that. And then my 5th storyline is I have it right here. Well, Virginia have its worst team in almost a decade. I think from a talent perspective, if Virginia fans are really honest with themselves and look at this year's roster and compare it to basically every other roster since 12th, 2012, 2013 and on. I think this could be the least talented that Virginia has had. Now, if it wasn't, if it was this roster, and Tony Ben wasn't coaching Virginia, then I would have had UVA easily outside my top 40, but I give Tony Bennett, a whole hell of a lot of credit and the benefit of the doubt. I have UVA fourth, but that will be something to keep an eye on. Clark returns, he averaged 9.5 points and 4.5 assists last season. He's probably Virginia's best player. They do bring in Jaden Gardner who for his career the past three seasons at ECU. That's two straight podcasts, the east Carolina pirates have been discussed on the iron college basketball podcast. Can almost guarantee that will not happen again for the next ten years. Jane Gardner averaged 18 points and 8.7 boards with the pirates in a really respectable 23.1 PER according to college sports reference. So he's going to get his and then it's a matter of will it be speakman who averaged less than 5 points in 29 minutes a game last season. There's a lot to be discovered there with Virginia, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. But to me, those are the 5 biggest storylines. Because Virginia almost always is, but this year, it's more, will this team again find a way? Are we going to look up, you know, three fourths of the way through the league season GP and see the Cavaliers like tied for first with two other teams, which won't stun us, but at the same time, I do think there's a real possibility that we could see the caps just wind up being 6 or 7 in the league. There was a time when Bill Ryan was still coaching at Wisconsin when I just slotted Wisconsin into the preseason top 25 and one every year because they were always one of the 26 best teams in the country. Regardless of whether it looked like they were going to be or not. It didn't matter who they were enrolling who they would bring them back. They were always good. And I just, I think.

"Just take these guys. But i like. I think it's what will become at the end of the year bill. That'll be with this team. But i hope it some more physical team that hard And i do what we can run the floor. We got some big settle. Really run the floor and that's the a little bit concerning but also candidate exciting challenging. We're going to have to be a little different this year. Figure out ways manufacturer. Some things offensively defensively. So it's not going to be like last. We really tried to spread the floor. Let our you know our five jay. Helping sam houser n- roles wells tour almost forty percent shoot. Ajay was in the mid thirties. Were little more rugged this your traditional with our our forwards and centers and they were men. Tony i mean they were older houser in j. half now like you said you've got guards at least that our dinner experience a and franklin comes over and re says a year of starting under his belt but like those the big other than gardener. I assume you don't. You don't have much of a field yet do you. Not at all. But that's okay. The competition will reveal that. So it's really a you know there's been some workouts in the fall like we've got a ways to go Flashes where they look good. And i don't know what the legal be like this year. I mean elise always solid. Last year was down a little bit. I say that Doesn't mean it was a badly who's just there was down while i've never heard way i've never heard it coach. Say that about their league ever. Everybody always says they're they're leagues the greatest. Maybe during the year you know it was. I mean we look our guys at the takeaway for guys one of the regular season. Acc champion bells amazing for them and then but on it just when you had three one sees in years pass. Rob leagues related dominant. I mean if you can't look at least it's not as good as it's banned in. Maybe college basketball. Maybe that is. I don't know but it just was compared to other years. It was a bit down so Yeah maybe try you. Don't say that during the year. Samphan fact is not gonna hurt me. But he's in state. The rial threat doesn't matter anyway. Let's be real though to. You mentioned those transfers. I feel like people have seen arm on. Franklyn jane gardner maybe not so much. I've done a couple of his games. Least carolina. I've seen him go for thirty. Which state. how pressed have you been. I guess just with his ability to score. He's not huge. Numb strong is fix but six atom. Adam what is that undersized. But i like guys like that. It's just kind of finds the basket examined. Glass has such. That's going to be important because we lost so much scoring. We don't return hardly any As are leading scorer. And i think you're gonna get baskets in different ways Well he's he might get swallowed up against the length career. Acc i just got feeling no watching jalen playing. He's figured out ways. His old caribbean he wanted. It was so excited about this opportunity to come play in the league lengthy acc and just see and he's needed. I think when you bring it transfers you know. It's good that you want them especially if they have experienced like bill stepien have a significant role. In you know they're both gonna have to have that just the way our roster is so they'll be longer thirty adjustments these benguela prepare these carolina. They didn't have a lot of success. They were close but So he's hungry to try to be a part of a team just keep building it in but they did a good job developing on a do a lot for them and i think you know he'll have some responsibility here..

"But like the bigs other than Gardner, I assume you don't have much of a feel yet. Do you? Not at all. You know, but that's okay. I think the competition will reveal that. So it's really a, you know, there's been some workouts in the fall. Like we got a ways to go and there's been flashes where they look good and you know, I don't know what the legal be like this year. I'm gonna leave always solid. Last year it was down a little bit. I say that doesn't mean it was a badly. It was just it was down. Wow, I've never heard I've never heard a coach say that about their league, ever. Everybody always says their leagues the greatest, maybe during the year. You know, that's right. No, it was. I mean, we look, our guys. That doesn't take away from our guys winning the regular season 8 to see champion. That was amazing for them. And then but when you had three one seeds in years past, I mean, Robbie, I've been in leagues where they've been dominant. I mean, if you can't look at a late and say, it's not as good as it's been. And maybe that's college basketball. Maybe that is, I don't know, but it just was compared to other years. It was a bit down. So, yeah, maybe yeah, probably, you don't say that during the year. It's after the fact that's not going to hurt anybody's NCA chances, right? That's right. It doesn't matter anyways. Let's be real. So you mentioned those transfers. I feel like people have seen arm on Franklin Jane Gardner maybe not so much. I've done a couple of his games when he was the east Carolina. I've seen him go for 30 at which stuff stayed. How impressed have you been, I guess, just with his ability to score it. He's not huge. No. He's strong he's thick, he's buddy 6 6, why would I don't know what he's listed? He's undersized, but I like guys like that. He's just kind of finds the basket he's on the glass. He has touch. That's going to be important for us because we lost so much scoring when we don't return hardly any scoring. TA is our leading score. And I think, you know, get baskets in different ways. You know, I said, well, you might get swallowed up against the length of the ACC. I just got a feeling watching Jaden playing. He's figured out ways his whole career and he wanted. He was so excited about this opportunity to come and play in a league like the ACC and just see and he's needed..
