"Don't worry. Because the Cleveland Browns game, if I'm not mistaken, just look it up, Chris. Because I haven't researched it yet, and we will talk about it. How many times did they throw it? In that game. Against Cleveland? No, Cleveland against the jets. When they had a run game to try and actually beat the jets. How many times did baker throw it in that game? 53. And the browns were ten and 5 days. Yeah, they were. And how many give me the receivers who they had in that game, Chris. They were all injured. And he still threw it 53 times go. Austin hooper had 15 targets. Keep going. Some guy named JaMarcus Bradley. Thank you, keep going. Harrison Bryant. Keep going. David and. Marvin hall never heard of it. Andy janovich. There you go. These are the guys that baker threw it 53 times too. So there was a lot of foot two guys you have to try their best to blow it. They tried their best to blow it. And the jets wouldn't just jets just couldn't stop from beating the bronze that day. Nick Chubb and Kareem hunt only had 15 combined. They made it so tough for the jets to lay down on that day. But they wouldn't, wherever those jets are, I hope you're happy. Jamison Crowder had a trick play touchdown pass. Okay. Thanks, James. It's a Monday. It's one of the wildest weekends we've ever seen in the history of the NFL, hit

"Everything to that offense. You don't want to boil it down to one drive and say this is why this guy is so valuable. He was so valuable all season, but when it came down to it when the rams had zero other options to move the ball in the Super Bowl when they actually had to move it, they figured out all they needed was Matthew safford and Cooper Cup and they would make it work. The two of them would just force it to work. And yeah, and that's why the Super Bowl champion right now. The one thing that kind of stands out to me with cup is you hear all the time. And I think we're going to do more on this as the season goes on because it's just really interesting, but Matthew saver always talks about the body language. Cooper cups of body language is better than any receivers ever played with and the way he's able to basically transmit where he's going to Matthew safford before he goes. I mean, the chemistry the two of them had last year was just exceptional and even more incredible, considering it was their first season together, but man, I mean, there's really no reason to think that this won't be the same situation for the next two or three seasons there in LA. Yeah, I think what they have, I think, so I don't know, follow me on this one, is the best of what Tom Brady had with Danny mendola in Wes Welker in hyperdrive because Cooper Cup is a better athlete than either of those two. And the way that those two receivers combined with Brady were able to understand legal traffic and spacing, I think brought them to numerous super bowls. And I think that the same could be said probably for Cooper Cup, where in trips, if you can't get the hand on him off the snap, he's unguardable because he's always going to be able to find just a little sliver of open space and he's going to catch the ball. The other signing we're going to touch on this week, hunter Renfro, and this one was fascinating to me because I remember one point when I was putting our outline together on the receiver guys. And I don't even know if we brought up up on the show, but I just put like hunter renfrow and a question mark after that saying like, okay, mclaurin and Metcalf and all these guys who we know are number one receivers. And then it's like, what if hunter renfrow? A guy who is a really good player. But is really a slot only guy. He's a complimentary player. You know, he's not going to be a guy you can line up as like an X ISO receiver and get wins that way. He's going to be he's going to be inside. And that's what he's going to do and he's going to do it really well, but what would the market for that kind of guy be? And we saw. It's a lot. It's a lot of money for him. Yeah, it was interesting. I was talking to one NFL person who remarked that that was the moment for that person where that positional group jumped the shark. And it's interesting because certainly your tyreek hills and your Davante Adams are worth every penny of that. But as you start to look at the economics of the market, it is interesting that, for example, you throw out like, okay, is is hunter Renfro worth 5 Josh Reynolds? Right? I mean, that's kind of. I don't know what you're going to do with 5 Josh Reynolds is in your roster. Who's like a good who's a good veteran wide receiver that's making like a million bucks. Like a very just okay, you know, like veteran minimum guy, but you'll bring him in. I don't know. Like, I don't know who they have in Miami, now that tyreek is there filling out that depth chart. Is van Jefferson on the end of his rookie deal? Yeah. And Jefferson might be on the end of his rookie. Yeah, he's going to be a free agent next year, but van Jefferson is making 1.4 million. It's hunter renfrow worth 16 times what van Jefferson is worth to you. To me, no. When you put it that way, but the thing I, the thing I think about with hunter Renfro is I also look at the jets, but the current jets. And that's like the last couple we'll see. It's like they had jamison Crowder and they had Braxton barrios, and I think those are two guys who looked at and were kind of like, yeah, those are really good guys to have out of the slot and young guys, you can separate guys again make plays on third down, et cetera, et cetera. Now, neither guys as good as hunter Renfro, but they're not that far behind, and it feels like there's always, I don't know. Like, half dozen that you can just go out and get for a fairly lesser price there. I mean, Renfro obviously he has some chemistry there. A car at this point, you want to maintain that. And that sort of thing. But it's a lot of money. I would have been fascinating to see Renfro hit the open market and see if someone would have given him well, frankly, a bigger deal than he got from the Raiders here, but also what is the market for a guy like that as a complimentary piece to your offense. As opposed to devonta Adams or Tyree kill? Do you think that at some point the market is going to have a more defined subdivision? Because that was always the complication with when Wes Welker was up for a new deal or any of those guys in the past. And I don't think we ever really solved that problem. And I'd be curious to see as the position becomes more valuable, are we going to see more market tears? Because right now, the breakdown is weird, right? Like if you look at if you look at all the active receiver contracts, you have your true X guys out there. But within the top, I don't know, one, two, three. I mean, hunter Renfro is now among the elite, you know? And so somewhat elite, right? Like approximately average annual value. I mean, he's up there, right? He's Adam Thielen. He's Alan Robinson. He's a little bit above Robbie Anderson. And is certainly and it's not the same guy. Well, I'll tell you what the one quick point. Yeah. How smart to the Broncos look extending those two guys Tim Patrick and courtland Sutton before all that went down? Wow. No, they were, boy, George Payton was ahead of the curve on that one. I'll just say as far as the way this, you know, the subdivisions that you bring up, great rush song, but also it's a good point because I think if you go back and we can go back to Wes Welker, Wes Welker was, you know, the slot guy and Randy Moss was the big play guy on those great patriots teams. That was also a time when there just wasn't this kind of depth at the receiver position and also I don't think schematically teams were able to create production out of that receiver position like they can now. So I'm just, I don't want to say I'm surprised. Again, I think hundred reference is a really good player. It makes total sense to lock him in because you want America. He's good at football. He's going to make your team better. I just didn't think that the receiver boom would necessarily trickle down to guys who are clearly complimentary guys as opposed to true number one guys, which obviously that's what my dad Adams is. That's what AJ Brown is. That's what tyreek hill is. Yeah, so.

"He's earned more usage in the passing game, which is helping this and getting him the ball in different ways to use his dynamic talent. Once he has The Rock in his hand. So I love Jonathan Taylor. Don't know if it's coming on the ground. Don't know if it's coming to the air. I just know he's in line for at least a 105 yards. And probably a score in this game as well as the side and term says the side pardon me sets up for an extremely friendly positive game script. Home running back, favored by ten plus points. That usually means that home running back is going to eat in the box score. So I'm big on Jonathan Taylor in this matchup on the jet side similarly. I am targeting Michael Carter. I'm going to go under 49 and a half rushing yards, that correlates with your under 12 and a half carries. Not only does this a negative game script for Michael Carter, where they might not be able to run the football often if they get down early, but the Indianapolis Colts as far as rush defense EPA and run defense Devo, our number one in the NFL. And it makes sense. They have divorced button on that line. They have Darius Leonard the maniac in the middle to defend the run. So their defense is dynamic in terms of its efficiency against running backs, the jets are still without McKay Becton. The big road grader on their offensive line. So a couple game script, couple matchup with Michael Carter's props and I am definitely going under 49 and a half rushing yards and like you. I think if Carter gets his makes his hay, it's going to come in the passing game because Mike white is captain check down 20 plus targets the last two games for Michael Carter. He's converted that into 18 catches. So 9 catches per game. And the ND defense is specifically designed to allow short stuff over the middle and into the flats. They play a very strict shell defense over the top and they will submit and allow Titans and running backs in the short area over the field to just dink and dunk their way to try and move the football. So love what you're doing with Michael Carter love what you're doing with Jonathan Taylor. That's what I'm on as well. I do think jamison Crowder also operates in that area. So if Corey Davis is out, that's very much the sweet spot of attacking this Indy defense. So that's how we're looking at Thursday Night Football. Really quickly Anita, are there any weeknight lines you want to jump on before Sunday real quickly? Yeah, I mean, in regard to what the Giants are dealing with COVID wise, you know, some tests are coming back negative, some tests are coming back positive. But what definitely is happening is that guys are staying home. They're being extra careful unlike the Green Bay Packers. In regard to making sure that if any of the players do have COVID that it won't spread throughout the organization. So with that being said, even though all that the Raiders are dealing with with the unfortunate and sad story with Henry ruggs, I still like the Raiders here. Coming off of a bi. So I like the Raiders minus three here in New York against the Giants. I love the Patriots. Each and every week, Mac Jones is getting better and better. I like the Patriots minus three at Carolina. The Bengals minus two and a half against Cleveland Cleveland dealing with a lot of drama in regard to odd junior and I think the Bengals I think this line should be a lot more, but because the Bengals lost the jets last week, it is what it is. And last but not least, the ravens -6 against the Vikings. So those four lines right now are lines. I've already taken advantage of. All right, let's move to the NBA slate tonight a little bit lighter slate on a Thursday. I'll start and let you know that the one came that jumps out to me right away Anita is the Miami Heat. They're taking on the Boston Celtics at home in Miami, the Celtics did play last night against Orlando and got a low scoring victory. But that's Orlando. Now they are bumping up in class to maybe the best team in the NBA to start the season. The heat are laying just 6 in south beach and I don't know if the Celtics have a bunch of partiers on their team. I don't even know if they had time. But of course, the old Miami flu is something that we talk about. They've been in bed. I lived in coconut grove for four years. I was there. I know what those players do when they come to town. It is a thing. It is a thing, Tyler. So after beaten up on the Orlando Magic, it's like what a 13 minute flight from Orlando to Miami. And you got time to get out in the streets, maybe hit up 11 or fountain blue, maybe slide into live for a bit. Regardless, whether the Celtics were out or not last night, whether they got their sleep or not. Miami has just been awesome so far this season. I will lay the 6th there. They're basically number one in net rating. Number one in defense rating. Number one and rebounding rate top four or top 5 and offensive rating. They've just been an absolute killer so far this season. The addition of Kyle Lowry, Tyler hero returning to his form from the bubble and then some, Jimmy Butler playing on MVP level. I like them lay in the 6 with the Celtics coming into town on the second leg of a back to back. Yeah, for me, I'm looking at the jazz here. I like the jazz on the money line at minus one 25. I also like the under in this game between the Jags and the hawks at two 20 and a half. You got the hawks. This is the second game of back to back. And they lost to the nets last night here in Brooklyn one 17 to one O 8 had to jump on a flight, go back home. Meanwhile, the jazz, a bit in Atlanta for over 24 hours. So they lost one 19 to one 13. I don't know if this was a scheduling mishap or whatever the case may be, Donald Mitchell 36 points, now I know he's questionable with the right ankle sprain right now. That's going to be interesting, but Utah, 6 and one, three and one on the road. Atlanta's been struggling, Trey young, only 22 points a game, only 28% from three. And I know he's been having some issues with the reps as a number of the star players have with the new rule changes. He's only averaging 5 free throw attempts a game. And there's some other things that, you know, I think not enough is being discussed here like, you know, changing of the ball. They went from spalding to Wilson. The crowd, a lot of these guys are dealing with issues with depth of target and the officials. Like I said, you know, defense is having an advantage here. So I love the under, that's probably my favorite play at two 20 and a half, but also I lean towards the jazz at minus one 25 and my prop bet Trae Young under one and a half three pointers and you get that at plus money at plus one 15 and also under 24 and a half points at minus one 15. He's only gone over 21 points in one of his last four games. And it's not just this game against the jazz, the hawks have the next few days really a gauntlet of a schedule. I wouldn't be surprised if Trae Young is limited in minutes on the court. So under for Trey young tonight. All right, that'll do it for today. Anita, I'm gonna have you hang on after we turn the record off and you're gonna tell me some stories about your time in south beach when you are running around.

"That are over. Thirteen points in jets have to be one of their not. They have not well. They're not so. The dolphins at the bills is thirteen. And a half. And the rams at the texans is fourteen and a half the giants about the rams. Go from the lions to the texans. I know it's not even so. How good are the rams. I i have no idea. Maradona in there and beat the hell out of them. Yeah i know they did. Beat the box though. Remember that the giants at the chiefs is ten. So what do you think the bengals at the jetsons is the nine nine and a half nine eight and a half and i will say that Chris collins what made a very good point last night on a game that in the nfc basically all the divisions are taken care while maybe one that isn't. That's the nfc west. Even though the cardinals are undefeated seven. Ano- yeah right. So you've got tampa in the south. You have green bay in the north dallas in east yup. They're done already already. So much for anybody can win it. I'll say the top end. The nfc is gonna be one. Hell a playoff run should be. Let's go to mike and rumson new jersey. What's up mike. Hey guys. I guess we're looking at todd. Bowles two point. Oh here i mean aside from you know looking good. No sharp his press conferences and being players coach and joe. Douglas not drafting the g harris to give our little quarterback a little bit of a running game to try to help him. He trades up to get interior. Linemen that you could have gone for two million in the free agent market that produces nothing. We're doing really good this morning. i mean first of all doing. Yeah wait we are doing great this morning. It's an absolute blowout. That's gonna make you think about every decision that the jets have made in the last couple of years. I don't want to go back to every draft. Pick right now in a referendum on joe douglas at this moment but at the end of the season. That's something to look at for sure. I won't say this though you know then. Zone mems malaysia. More gotta be on the field they have to be on the you gotta find out whether or not they can be difference make were they were on the field know i know but they need to touch the ball a hell of a lot more than they did. Yesterday i mean at the end of the day you gotta find out whether or not these kids you know play and if you have veterans in front of them that are on you know free agent contracts. By the end of the year. Those veteran should be looked to be moved and get out of the way and they try to send those veterans to maybe teams That are in the mix for the playoffs and give them a chance to make the playoffs. And let the young kids take over. Just let the young kids takeover and you don't get a higher draft pick you know makes them trades get some more draft picks in here and try to try to build that way. There's no reason to keep players here. That are on the final years of their contracts and most likely are not going to be here next year. You gotta get something for them. Sure and marcus may is going to be one of those guys. I think he's one of those guys. I think any one of their. I guess you could say gyms crowder's is one of those guys. Yeah you know the giants. That's an interesting one to do at the at the deadline. I mean they going to give up. I think it kind of depends on what happens this week at kansas city. And say all right. We're trade away. Some of these guys are gonna say are we can actually try to make a run for wildcard. I when i look at the jets free agents for next year unrestricted free agents that people that they don't really have control over unless they wanna slap a tag on them and i. I don't see any reason why you would do that. With marcus. may jamison crowder Keeling coal is that way. I know at the end of the day. You want to try to win games. But i think you also have to be practical about your management of your salary cap and figuring out whether or not you're young kids can actually play at this level and if you're going through season like you are right now where you are getting just absolutely destroyed. Why wouldn't you. Why wouldn't you make this the proving ground. For a lot of these young kids pan. Mcaliskey host of the lockdown. Today podcast trying to stay on. Any so comfortable because he's playing with a quarterback that he knows. Yeah i would say the same thing. Well it's not happening for the jets because you have a rookie quarterback with a second year wide receiver and denzel mems a first year wide receiver in allies more a free agent signing corey davis guys that have been hearing keeling coal and jamison crowder. "Go nervous davis. You drop brian. Tannehill or just. He's got the jaguars next week. So i mean if the receivers can get healthy. Maybe he's a star. He's i was. I wasn't laughing at that. He's been dropped in a lot of our lease people ready to let him go. There's gonna come a point this year where we run to start ryan. Tata's plan jacksonville next week. He doesn't have his receivers healthy aging picks gonna be ready. Julio might be ready. who knows. We'd i can't say that he might be but he's got a chance. I don't know how good feel about starting l. Without those guys even with jeremy mcnichols another encouraging. Week for michael carter. He's finally scores of apps for carter. A third of the samsung tied. Johnson coleman eighteen percent but tevin did have some short yardage goal on work toward the end of the gal crowder. We talked about him. Thirty one percent roster does that too high too low or is that porridge. Just right for jamison. Crowder seven catches sixty one yards and a touchdown on nine targets. You go ahead. no i was just. He was just did what breakfast burritos has been doing. We've all earliest. I have been giggling at braxton. "He's a very athletic receiver in that offense. And so i think. Zack wilson just going to have tunnel. Vision on corey davis. He got ten targets last week. So i know. He hasn't put a good week since week. One when he had those multiple touchdowns against the packers but tennessee's secondary is not very good and i. I see i could see corey. Davis put up fifteen or more points this week. So i'm gonna take my shot on him. I can see as well. I liked it. You described as tunnel vision. Because who else are they going to throw the ball to now fillet to more out the good throughout the keelan coal. But that's not a great option. It's jamison crowder. I think he might be coming back this week. Yeah he just. They just took them off the i. R. so take. It might take a couple of weeks though for than the develop chemistry with timson crowd. Zach zach own. The him with his. I read for sure okay. Do we want to move on to the lineup. So we put together this week and yeah yeah so releasing a poll question for everyone on our twitter each week and then one thing. We're also going to be doing as justin. I will be going head to head with a week to week draft kings lineup so we have a fifty thousand dollar limit. That's how we keep track of our players and make sure it's aaron even for everybody even steven so both of us put together our weekly lineup. We posted that for you on twitter and so we have been looking at that and seeing how you guys have voted to find out who who you think is gonna win this week. So johnson has received fifty five point six percent of the votes for his lineup in. I am straggling behind with forty four point. Four percent of the vote so it looks like you guys like justin better than me which you know. I'm just going to have that. He's got the moxie got swag. But that's okay you know plus alliance. We're used to not being liked but anyways so are two lineups adjust. Do you want me to read them off. You shirt beat them off. You can read off your team. I can beat off my team. "Hundred bucks. He's welcome back my dude loss last week by the way got it. No that j. t. s. jets. You're seeing what he did last year. He's a beast he's adult he's harlem and they they need points he's gonna get tired. I don't know if he's going get receptors. But he's gonna get targets for that amount you can be up from other positions and we will get into later on in the show who you can get but for that price. You're guaranteed at least about double digits. Our say we're gonna demon semester news. Jamison crowder growing suffer setback. They're not practice today. Coach that because i'm james grammar fancy owner read. So does that give you the green light on brakes. Burials covers l last week. He's probably about thirty two hundred already. And i'm not too big on like i said running back down. I'm really big on receivers. Because i feel they get the most action so next up. This guy's just waiting to paul this guy. He's not big on running backs but he played king henry last week. So i'm going to jump in and say why receivers now it's it's my show sound like he's saying right now. Receiver gimme gimme georgia's boy Boomer sooner star sterling shepard going up against going up against a atlanta's paper-thin Secondary this is georgia's a favorite guy for waivers the pickups if he's still out there so fifty nine hundred bucks he's climbing up the wide receiver. "I mean the titans defense as we've talked about on the show before one of the historically worth defenses ever to make the playoffs last year. And if you judge it by both last year and then kind of failure to to stop arizona for large portions of a week one not surprising But i think we like a lot of overs smack game and the total and got a very very high total in the market. One more game for us to discuss and that is the chiefs and the ravens. I've only got two props locked in right now probably will play another one. I would give this out on my twitter account at the cost those. The ko k- o. S. t. o. S. prior to the kickoff eight fifteen pm eastern tonight sunday night football chiefs and ravens. Tyree kill over ninety and a half receiving yards. I i'd rather play tyreek over yards than kelsey over yards. Kelsey in this ravens matchup. The last three times they played always gets a ton of volume like in the seventy eight. Catch ranges receptions. Proper seven and a half doesn't always go over on yards but no it usually scores touchdowns so i'm going to stay away from kelsey. Maybe i'll play that tyreek over ninety and a half for sure. And then i wanna bounce back year with mark andrews from last week and play mark andrews over fifty three and a half receiving yards. Ken hollywood brown may not even play in this game. These questionable right now then. That would leave sammy. Watkins revenge spot. I think i think they're going to mark andrews the ball here's retiree can andrews over for the chiefs and ravens an opportunity for redemption for mark andrews. I believe in the week three monday night. Game last year we had the over. I believe you had mark. Andrews crop overs matt game so no chance to prove himself yet again. Well that wasn't mark. Andrews like on monday night. He didn't get enough targets the last year on monday night. He got a million targets. He just couldn't catch any of them. So hopefully mark. Andrews can catch the night against the off against the kansas city chiefs actives at an active starting to come and jamison crowder is inactive for the new york jets. Even with keeling coal active. "After the friday practice reports from matthew bats are injury expert. But today's the day to look for for josh jacobs. Right and trade of now. Try to benjamin. This week i would pit. He's playing pittsburgh and yeah he already. He looked banged up last week. Down swift angela. Jamaal williams were both limited on thursday. groin injury for the andre. Swear i imagine that. I hope that is maintenance from the early part of the offseason. That is what it seems. Like because i haven't heard any new news of of reogranization and The great personality and football. Jamal williams limited to a chest injury. You guys saw the clip. I'd right it multiple times because it's so fabulous. I have not the so for those who don't know what we're talking about. There's a clip. They're asking jamal about him. Changing teams and hughes's this whole metaphor about how he's like. I didn't choose to leave. They don't me but they didn't want me. But now i got i got a new relationship. They're feeding me. They're taking care dinners. He's just such a delightful man. I i recommend everyone try and find the jamaal. Williams clip will fuller is out in week. Two of the personal issue. The the missed practice yesterday was due to personal reasons. Not not due to an injury so He won't be here in week. Two due to the personal situation. I don't know any more than that. Hollywood brown returned to practice after missing wednesday and thursday with an ankle injury. That's good Maybe takes watkins off the board as a spot start. Johnny smith limited in practice on thursday with a hip situation. You don't love mid week situations but let's pay attention today. Jamison crowder was activated But limited to groin injury. So man. I mean i. It's always interesting when somebody's activated from injured reserve or kovic list and all of sudden you're still hurt or you got hurt during that time zakar. It's limited on thursday I think he's playing. And then trae sermon will be active for week. Two against the eagles. Thank you for clearing that up. Forty niners yeah. It is something that anybody asked about elijah. Yeah we're gonna. We're gonna sit elijah this week. That would be difficult for me. Emotionally difficult for the entire fantasy. Football world Trae sermon should run behind elijah. Yes and as somebody who paid ninety one dollars for the missile her. I hope he fumbles that wrong to say you horry sermon from madison. Because what you put out in the world that you hope that allies of is what. I'm sorry i do not yourself. Yeah yeah that was. Today's news and notes brought to you by the leader in breaking news. Alerts sleeper grabbed the sleeper app You probably have it because you probably plan league on there but if you don't get level yeah yeah. You're playing in the mega i am. I team is looking good. I went zero. Rv and i added elisa mitchell. And you're having a good time ghanzi rb. It's been a good experience really fun into the forecast dan. Se forecast bengals bears. Texans browns rams colts bills-dolphins patriots jets. Forty niners eagles all on yesterday. Show so if you want those matchups You're not gonna find him here. You're gonna find him on that excellent show from yes We was so good. It was alright. Nine games left raiders heading to pittsburgh to take on the steelers draft king sportsbook line steelers minus six and a half over unders. Forty seven points in this game raiders with the very predictable week. One win against baltimore steelers. They survived their defense special teams and not a lot from buffalo. So looking at this game he got short. Rest for the raiders. They have to travel east on paper. The steelers should mop the floor with them right. You should correct. Take care of your home field and take care of this game and then you have a situation with all the offense of pieces in las vegas because you're facing a a tremendous defense that slowdown much better offense in buffalo last week. So josh jacobs you're looking to pivot. I'm not chasing brian edwards or henry rugs in this matchup agreed. I mean there's one man one.

"Mean. I probably give him another week or two. But durham smyth was like the clear number one and then they were also using a hunter long their rookie tight end and then and carter like they used four tight ends and i think that the wide receiver situation could go in the same direction with will fuller back that they're gonna use four guys So i i agree with you though. Waddell had a promising week. One and i think he'll be useful as a wide receiver three slash flex. But this offense doesn't have a lot of like fantasy starters. Yeah no they just getting rotating a lot of pieces for sure. Another getting willfuller back. As i mentioned new england you mentioned the damian harris fumble late. now there's talk or is he going to get benched are they gonna call up. Jj taylor then give reminders stevenson. More work because damian harris had this fumble that cost them game. What do you think about that. And what you think about mack jones. nfl debut. Yeah i'm not gonna try to predict that situation stasi that could use. Jj taylor They could just use a ton of james. Why reminder Ramachandra stevenson also lost a fumble. Yeah so. I don't know it's gonna be interesting to see what happens when we to. I don't think you'll be able to start or any of them like with true confidence. I do think dame harris will be in rb to play. Just you know with a lower floor now. Mack jones played really really well. I mean he carried his success in preseason over into week one and threw for two hundred eighty one yards against a really strong pass. Defense at over seven yards per attempt Al gore had a nice game. You know James white six catches jacoby myers six catches on. That's you know. It's pretty good production against miami. Yeah i'd also say james white you know like the thesis of the james white in best ball play was always jones was going to get the job and he was going to check it down at tons of james white and that played out pretty decent amount in week. One new york jets. Much like the dolphins they're rotating a ton of guys. Having coleman had nine touches tied. Johnson play the most snaps but he had five touches. Mccarter had five touches the lodge more stuff man. I mean he was in such a great spot. Usage was good. He had a lot of air yards but ended up with only four targets. Only eleven percent target share with no jamison crowder who i think we'll get cleared from cova. No keeling coal. Who was the game. Certainly has a chance to be back. I think the shaky as part was really zach. Wilson didn't look great but again i mentioned on the nfc pot. I think this carolina defense has a chance to give some people problems this year. I think wasn't confined softer spots but certainly not a promising debut for him. What you see the jets. The protection was a big issue. And then mci becton went out there stud through and fifty pounds six foot. Eight left tackle. And he's gonna be out four to six weeks now and right after he went out like just the protection just went to just went to shit know after the game. Zack wilson was like manna guy whiplash. I felt like i got hit by a truck Definitely a welcome to the nfl. Moment corey davis though again for the preseason doesn't matter folk. He showed that chemistry with zach. Wilson the preseason. It carried over into week. One and corey davis right now. He's in every week. Fantasy starter dow fisher such a beast. Pittsburgh steelers big story was najji harris. I mean i expect him to play a ton. they didn't take them off the field. Fifty eight offensive snaps for the steelers. Fifty eight offensive snaps for nausea harris benzon. Caleb lodge did not even get into the game on offense so that was really encouraging. I mean no matter what you think the offensive line. No matter what you think about big ben the static correlates most fantasy points at the running back position is snaps and harris is going to play an absolute boatload of them this year. What did you think had a big band. I mean really good win for them up in buffalo. yes i think. Big ben isn't very good anymore and offensive. Line was as advertised not good and that was really the biggest problem for nause harris again. We're going to bet. Long-term on najji harris overcoming the problems surrounding him in the steelers offense because of the usage. And we know that that correlates best to fantasy production but in week one There's no doubt that the the The environment around him worked against him. And that's why he wasn't very good in fantasy against buffalo last team. We're gonna get to in the afc. Is the tennessee. Titans i mean. I don't know what price you could have gotten on. Chester rogers leading the tennessee. Titans in receiving yards overrated brown over. Julio jones but just rogers finishes with four catches for sixty two yards. Aj had two touchdown to salvage day but was not good. Julio jones was not good. I'm concerned that like this team is very good. And when they have to come from behind to disaster like tannehill and derrick. Henry are not built to come from behind at all. So if you had tannehill stacks when they got down big early it was like man. This could really work. Like you have deandre hopkins on one side and you have haenel. Aj brown julio on the other but they couldn't capitalize on all the garbage time against an arizona defense which is lacking talent in a big way. I thought was pretty concerning for the titans. Here what did you think concerning it was. It was horrible. His they started out like help blocking the right tackle with a tight end and then Taylor luanne they should be able to rely. Upon as a one of the highest payed left tackle in the league just gets his butt whipped by chandler jones They had the lowest play action rate in the league.

"Let's jump right into is one of my favorite roberts heading into this weekend. And that is sam. Darnold over is passing yards. Nothing has been posted yet. I'm sure we can close to kick off. It will be posted but man. You know a lot of people i think. Sleep on sam darnold because just the raw deal that he got here in new york. But i just i love. I love his offensive coordinator. I love that rule. The head coach. He's playing behind better offensive line he ever had here in new york with jets. You've got a plethora of talent to work with in on top of that this week. He's gone up against a gaggle rookie corners to sophomore quarters. And here's another thing a not a number all then were have not been drafted. We're not drafted higher than the fifth round. I mean i think sam darnold it could be a sneaky. Good play not just in the That world but in dfs as well. So i love. Sam darnold i also love. I think he's going to connect with robbie anderson don't forget robbie anderson or her jet as well two of them gonna wanna take it to the jets. Got ravi anderson scored a touchdown plus one ninety and also men the jets. They're just a complete mess. Jamison crowder's out. I think. Zack wilson is going to struggle. So i like under in passing yards for zach wilson in this

"Mike for twenty nine hundred talk. Yes we got a contract. Yeah we did the goose that works. I like it. It works for twenty nine hundred. That works for me too. That we're. I'm hoping that the tidy could pull into two receptions at a touchdown at flex i win. Devante williams for four thousand the opportunity against the giants. We'll see what happens there. It was a discount Flex for me kareem. Hunt is jason's for fifty five hundred only got into the week. And then elijah more mike you went with the three thousand the absolute lawler rookie. Yep and with with Jamison crowder missing time. I'm not expecting huge things from malaysia. More but he could surprise your conklin and more allowed you to go. Mccaffrey most ridley. Which i just i. I'm a little jealous. I went with the colts on defense. This is where. I got my bargain and rice defense. It's only twenty three hundred one of the cheapest draftkings but still a great defense like the colts are good defensively or and so new office coordinator. Maybe they can slow. Russ down enough to get some value hitter. I was surprised by the ravens Raiders surprise looking at it right now and So i took the ravens only twenty seven hundred a great defense and i got the minnesota vikings at three k. against the cincinnati bengals. Let's see if joe boroughs actually ready to play. There's a lot on the line. guys we got. We got some cash some shame and some pride Which is how we do fantasy those.

"If if jamison crowder doesn't play allies more could be an interesting volatile low end flex. Dcfs cheap the s. option. It's just not really one of those games on targeting because the total is so low in this game next up the bengals hosting the vikings. I'm i guess as we guan. I'm curious about all these games. Yeah i mean all these games are let's let's make it easy with vikings. The vikings are my favorite team. In fantasy you start galvin. Cook no doubt about it you start. Justin jefferson no doubt about it. You start adam feeling no doubt about it usually the guy. You're making a decision on for the week is kirk cousins and aereo. Here's one situation. I have cousins rank higher. The dustin This week and it's just matchup base. That's all it is just match abass. Maybe there's a little bit of a defense angle. It the thing with kirk cousins for by the way forty seven solid total for this game. Minnesota's a two two and a half point favorite. It's very easy to stack her giving double stack kirk cousins. Because the you know the target tree is narrow one thing. I am watching for minnesota just a massive bomber that irv smith went out for the season. Just a huge bomber. I drafted him. Atanas my number two tight end. Who steps in there. I think it's going to be tyler. Conklin who may who may have had in the building but they traded for chris herndon and apparently reached out to the eagles about potentially trading for dallas daughter not zakar. It's dallas her. The eagles seemed to have rebuffed that offer. So the vikings were obviously counting on irv smith being a big part of their passing game. Will they get that kind of contribution from either tyler concrete do i think is the better option chris. Earned in who live didn't live up to his infinite promise with the new york jets. So that's one thing. I'm keeping an eye on for the minnesota vikings otherwise very easy fantasy team to figure out. What about the bengals joe. Lhota mouth to feed over there yet. So i think the big thing. Well first and foremost the big thing. People are obviously going to be looking at his job. Borough what is he looked like behind that offensive line. I've got joe borough ranked pretty low this week I had them higher than a lot. Higher his in his draft rankings. But this now becomes a weekly game. And you'd have to valuate the weekly matchup. I've got joe borough pretty low this week. I even have him as a low end. Qb to to quarterback league's just based on the up Based on the fact that we don't know what he's gonna look like. Joe mixon is another story. Ross because they had been talking all season about how much they love joe mixing. He has very little competition in. This backfield is a locked in rb one for me this week. At wide. receiver. I'm playing t higgins and i am playing a tyler boyd. The guy who. I'm interested to see of course. Is jim marchese at a terrible preseason. We've got him as a low end wide receiver for this week. I expect that he is going to make people look foolish for fading hemley not the greatest match for march as to get off on the right foot. So teigen's tyler boyd. I'm comfortable with them. Not so comfortable. Which marceca since week. I'm very comfortable with lincoln. I use it all the time. All the interns i have from penn state use linked..

"So Covid 19 and what Myron was referring to there with Cole Beasley vaccinated versus unvaccinated players and how that's going to affect teams availability This year is something that's certainly in the forefront now has been throughout training camp and isn't going to be something that goes away. This season's so we figured it's time for a little bit of coach Speak, Um, you know, so you can hear kind of what the word is coming out of NFL facilities about how players reviewed those who were vaccinated. Those who are unvaccinated. So you remember a week ago. Tomorrow's when Rosters were trimmed to the initial 53. That's always a fluid situation. Rosters change, Guys come up, guys go back down. I mean the team that I cover. The Minnesota Vikings had a bunch of really creative ways that they were able to maneuver around some of the roster rules to get To waive vested veterans and then bring them back without penalty after they moved guys to IR. But, um, the one question that we were talking about with a Cam Newton last week and others who are unvaccinated players, and we wonder, are they Being waived or caught because of the vaccination status that came into the forefront. That was the big sticking point in big topic, Uh, during roster cut down week, so Bill Belichick Talked about it. Last Thursday, He was asked whether Cam Newton's vaccination status affected him being a surprise. Cut. Take a listen. No, I mean, look, you guys keep talking about that, and You know, I would just point out that I don't know what the number is. I mean, you guys can look it up. You have the access to a lot of information. But the number of players and coaches and staff members that have Been infected by Covid in this training camp who have been vaccinated. It is pretty high number so I wouldn't lose sight of that. Now Belichick ended up clarifying that pretty high number comment on Monday said no player has been released or cat because of the vaccination status. That's not part of the equation. My comment relative to vaccinations really, the way I felt. That's an individual decision for each person. To make as a team. We're better off if everybody is vaccinated. That being said, even if everybody is that was vaccinated. That doesn't solve all of our problems as we've seen multiple players and head coaches and assistant coaches throughout the league test positive for Covid even after they have been vaccinated, and that's something that we've seen with another team in the Patriots division. The New York Jets dealing with Jamison Crowder is on the Covid 19 reserve list who was apparently vaccinated. Um, the Jets are holding out hope that he will be able to remain, You know, a symptom won't be. He'll be asymptomatic, and you don't needs to negative test in back to back days before he gets cleared and could potentially play in that game against Carolina in the opener. But one other player that we've seen is Zack Martin, who, um You know, has a situation right now where he's not able to play come Thursday down in Tampa Bay because of being a vaccinated player who is showing symptoms and won't have enough time to be able to test negative because he's not a symptomatic. I know it's convoluted and some people like well, what does it matter if if if vaccinated players are being affected by the virus in the same way? Well, There's different return times, different timetables, which I think is, um, something that you know, we just need to keep talking about here because it's not going away. This is something that is affecting a lot of teams in the NFL, and, you know, we're on the cusp of weak Wanna. We're already talking about players that are going to have to miss and those who could potentially miss games because of the situation with Covid 19 so Yep, not going away and no, it's an It's an uncomfortable topic, and a lot of people don't want to talk about vaccinations. But this is a very real part of the 2021 season. That will ultimately be part of the fabric that we will remember. From this season in Spain and fits here on ESPN radio in the ESPN APP coming up next back into college football. Our good friend Alyssa Lang, SEC network host and reporter joined to show that's next year in Spain and fits ESPN radio ESPN APP. The NFL is on key J. And now Max Kellerman protecting him. "We have a couple of requests for fights to don't have in the system we will get them into the system before the show is over so just give us a couple of minutes and then we'll get it going. Let's go to the progressive gets line. Ben lindsey pro football focus joining us here. On pushing the odds bet map her alto aria. I'm doing well how are you doing. I'm great all right so the news out this morning. That the jets may be shorthanded. Here with jamison crowder testing positive for covert nineteen vaccination says as of yet but clearly. There's some questions still out there. But for your outlook on the jets. How do you feel about their offense with. Zach wilson under center. I think you have to feel a lot better. There's been a lot of optimism. Not only about that. Wilson about what mike looks more can bring off and do coordinator that system. They're bringing in the changes. They made the office and line. The guys they brought in at wide receiver. Corey davis has been targeted on almost all of his routes running the preseason. It looks like he's going to get a heavy workload. Look good There was a lot of positive reports about roger more before. He sort of sidelined by injury But he should be coming back. So i think there's a lot of reasons to be excited about The way that offense is trending. Do you concur with some of the comparisons being made to mahomes in rogers and the ability of wilson. He's going to be an electrifying player in the nfl. I think the homes in rogers are a little bit lofty But in terms of play style that that ability to create outside the pocket in all platform that was his biggest selling point. Coming out of byu. And that's where you see those comparisons drawn To mahomes to rogers just his arm town and what he can do outside of structure. I think that's what made the just take him second overall and i think that's what he brings Whether or not it turns into mahomes. Rogers is probably doesn't But i think he. I can see where the comparisons are being made..

"A lot of them. Do that right. I instructed by the ages so on this. I sixty players. They're thirteen wide receivers on the list thirteen. And we we've not gotten attari maclaurin. Why because mccoy's not going to be on the list. And i'll give you the reason why i feel that way here in a moment but it suggests that they're going to be probably twenty receivers on this list and he's not gonna be on it here the receivers on this list at ninety six cole. Beasley cole beasley. Not better than terry mclaren at ninety. Four jarvis landry at ninety. One corey davis. Who i think was a massive disappointment. After being picked fifth overall out of western michigan by tennessee. He finally had a good year last year and swiss signed as a free agent. I was actually very interested in him for. Washington is a free agent. Because i thought he sort of busted out last year but corey davis better than terry maclaurin. I don't think so. I don't alan robinson comes in at eighty seven. I would take robinson before. I would take terry maclaurin chris godwin and comes in at eighty one. He's dropped about twelve passes during the season last year but he is very good. Adam phelan's at eighty tyler. Lockets it's seventy six. I like tyler lockett a lot. I really do that year. Was the year they pick. Jamison crowder and i remember before that draft i said stefan digs tyler lockett. Either one of those receivers would be a great pick for them and like rounds three through through five or whatever and they took crowder. Crowder was the least of the three clearly Michael thomas comes in at seventy two. And then you get calvin ridley. It's sixty five keenan allen at fifty five oh by the way. Aj brown at sixty two right there for me. That's the tell that there's no chance. Corn is on this list because aj brown's much better. He's not much better. But he's better than terry maclaurin. Aj brown's a beast justin jefferson after one year is fifty three on the list. Mike evans is at forty eight on the list. So guys that you would clearly take before maclaurin you know like evans. I think like aj brown. I may be justin. Jefferson may be we'll definitely keenan allen. I think i don't know that's pretty. Close he's not going to be on this list. There already. thirteen receivers on it. You know in the final forty or they're going to be another seven probably at least maybe eight or nine so in this. Nfl top one hundred list. He's not he's not going to be on a list. That probably has twenty two twenty two receivers on it so anyway just thought it was interesting. I think he should be on this list in front of the people that are on the back into this like like coal. Beasley and corey davis. Terry maclaurin would be ahead of both of those guys on my list. I think he'd be ahead of chris. Godwin on my list came in at eighty one. I have no opinion as.

"How many of those guys turn into immediate sparkplug fantasy assets. I have one guy off the top of my head. And i could be dead wrong. But it's like using five eight two hundred pounds likely for the record. Maurice jones drew but he was like such a he. He's built may i'm jay. Dee might have been like he always stats an md. Coming j. jd. Coming out of college was five foot seven. I believe short on five eight and he's probably thicker than from was times in person he's like. Oh he's a. he's a bowling ball player. i think he's he's more. The exception to the point is that right. I don't think you saw those two and a lineup. You'd think like that guy is built like that guy right meaning versus j. d. so i think we both agree but even though so we still had like search for maybe want right. It's it's there's also potential for work share. This is the young basically the offensive system and staff from san francisco where we as we know whether it because of injury or there because of just preference frequently were shuffled back spot so what did surprise me if kind of all these guys got a little bit of work but none of them became a weekly fantasy starter. So let's talk about the wide receivers. We'll get into it as we're going to double trouble but like trae sermon is really really talented. James connor is going to get a lot. You know again. Health is always a concern with. James is gonna get a lot of work in arizona as well so You know and and even ronald jones. By the way. I mean. I know you've got four nat and you got giovanni bernardo field but ron jones has had fantasy success on a much better team than the jessica say like if you had the opportunity to potentially draft the bucks top rusher or potentially draft the jets. Top rusher right joe. So for the jets There's really tight end of note. I would say on the jets. Unfortunately chris earned has just never happened but there are three maybe four wide receivers that are least worth mentioning by name. Corey davis assigned to three year contract with thirty seven point. Five million dollars this off season jamison crowder who had take a reduced contract to stick around with the jets who past couple of years has been heavily targeted and a pretty solid player overall. He was wide receiver. Twenty five hundred points per game basis their top of the second round pick elijah moore who was outstanding amazing last year in the first year lane kiffin as the head coach at amiss and denzel mims come a forgotten soul who average less than seven fantasy points per game last year. Second round pick out of baylor in two thousand twenty. I'll ask you the same question for the jets. I did the patriots. Is there a wide receiver that you believe out of those four most deserves to be kinda late round lottery. Ticket probably allies. You're more niagara. Because he's got the highest feeling. Well i mean here's the thing. I think corey davis has chance to be useful at gordon. Good player a good player. Who has signed a big contract and very easily could lead this team and target share. Yeah probably will. It's probably the odds on favourite to lead this team and target share so good player. Big fast again signed a big contract. They expect them to be to your point about jamison crowder. James crowd was really productive last year. Remember we were talking about them all last year like and i remember you wrote about him in the free..

And i'll be talking about the fantasy implications with that. And then i'll be going into a new segment where i'll be going through every teams individual schedule and i will talk about each individual matchup within their schedules and talk about the fantasy implications with that water favorable match unfavorable matchups. I did that. I went through a couple of games. You know a few shows ago. I kinda just went through the whole schedule and talked about you. Know some games where. There's some favorable and unfavorable matchups. But now i'm going to be taking a deeper dive into every teams schedule. I'm going to be starting with the eagles on this show. And i'm gonna talk about their schedule. I'm going to do the whole. Nfc east and then we'll go from there so i'll be doing that for the next. You know thirty some shows. I'll have that segment segment number two dedicated to doing a deeper dive on teams as individual schedules. So that'll be segment number two and then segment number three. I'll be doing a segment for the next couple of shows where i'll be going through every division again you know. Instead of doing a draft analysis finished doing i'm going to do a rankings of players on every team you know within a certain division and talk about what. I think you know what players will be taken. I players will be taken last. You know within the group of players from a certain team and you know it'll make more sense. Once i get up to that at that point in the show and then finally i will conclude with doing the top. Ten tight ends that i think will be the top ten tight ends in twenty twenty one. Nfl season so with that. Let's get right into the first segment. Which is the rankings of the wide receiver groups in the afc. And i'll be doing that division by division. So let's get right into so starting off with the afc east. I got the jets in last place. Now the jets wide receiver group was really bad last year. They really didn't have a clear number one wide receiver last year. You know jamison crowder was probably their best receiver you know. They lost robbie anderson and free agency. He went to carolina. You know they really didn't have any wide receivers that scared you you know bouchard paramount. He added a break out. Game against new england when they played on monday night. Joe flacco was the quarterback. You know denzo mems is a guy that they drafted in the twenty twenty. Nfl draft and he's going to be looking to make a big step in year. Two you know they brought in cory davis. They drafted allies. You're more so the receiving core is going to be a little bit better but when it comes to fantasy you know. I don't really see you know a lot of Starpower when it comes to fantasy i think allies more could be a guy who can dynasty leagues. I think corey is a guy that can maybe ride your bench and maybe jameson crowded the same thing but other than that. I don't really see any fantasy value as compared to the other wide receiver groups in this division. I think the jets are you know their team. That's rebuilding. They got a rookie quarterback coming in. You know there's going to be some growing growing pains with zach wilson. I think the jets are going to be competitive. And i think you know at some point. Maybe you know a jets player that plays receiver makes an impact. You know. we'll have to wait. And see i think as of right now i don't. I'm not very high on any receivers on the jets in terms of regular. I think you're more has more value in dynasty leagues. And you know what jamison crowder he's shown flashes for the jets But i think outside of you know jamison crowder and i guess corey davis who had a breakout season in two thousand twenty when it comes to standard lease i. I really don't see a lot of value with any of these players on the jets now echo. I could be completely wrong. But i think the jets are going to be better. I think their offense is going to be competitive..

NFL Injury Report: Week 2

"Receiver Chris Godwin isn't concussion protocol. George Kittle has been rolled out. George Kendall. Hi. Did you see his need bent in a really strange when he came back and finished that game in that loss against the Cardinals? He was just ruled out, so I don't think it's on your hot list. Okay. What else do we see Anything else of note? I saw it last night, The Bangles tied and CJ Zuma. Zuma has a torch Achilles. He's out for the season cold. Starting, Jack Doyle is out against the Vikings. Jamison Crowder for the Jets is out against the 40 Niners. As you mentioned Adam, the Lions have ruled out Kenny Golladay. Cornerback Desmond Trufant and guard Joe Doll. Free money Packers No tackle Kenny Clark is out for lions. I got to tell you, I think that the injury reports are lighter than I thought they'd be after one week, especially with no training camp, but

The NFL's best and worst offensive arsenals: Barnwell's 32-1 ranking

"Barnwell writes these very lengthy pieces on E._S._p._N.. Dot Com and he wrote a piece that that came out early this morning ranking the N._F._L.'s. Goals offensive arsenals thirty two worst all the way to number one <hes> and basically you know he's considering how the players that the teams have will perform in twenty nineteen. He's not necessarily really just basing it off of recent <hes> recent performance. He's he's he's guessing on what you know. It will be in two thousand nineteen any says also that the as as a preface it with a lengthy the preview before he started ranking them of course in love with is that the arsenals are weighted <hes> the arsenal rankings are weighted more towards receivers than tight ends or running backs <hes> any says also the top elite level talent wins out over depth anyway the rankings start with the thirty second ranked offense of Arsenal Jacksonville Bennett's Denver Miami Seattle and then the Redskins so the redskins have the fifth worst offensive offensive arsenal in the N._F._l.. According to a bill barnwell any rights the investments Washington is made it wide receiver haven't worked out former former seahawks wide out Paul Richardson signed to a five year forty million dollar deal wasn't healthy and Seattle and cautious watches twenty passes in seven games last season former first rounder. Josh DACHSHUND hasn't developed in Washington. Just decline the fifth year option on Dachshund Jamison crowder left the jets <hes> mister relevant Trey Quinn will be as replacement Jay Gruden gruden drafted Terry maclaurin in the third round but there but is there any reason to think Washington is going to start developing whiteouts effectively. This is likely the league's worst group of starting wide receivers while that's the kind those kind the tools you wanNA put around a rookie quarterback and you know the funny thing is according to warn sharp. This is the most expensive offense in the N._F._l.. This mostly costly offense. Well take the field the N._F._l.. Because of the Investment Alex Smith and you know that is not going to write to pay off <hes> yes so I mean again another reason why you you WanNa put this on this limited offense in the hands hands of a quarterback who understands limitations in that case keenum. It's Cole McCoy too but I'm going to operate on the assumption that cultures isn't going to stay healthy so <hes> that's case keenum you don't want to <hes> experiment and test out a rookie <hes> with these with these kind of weapons <hes> especially if you're Jay Gruden and you know you have the expectation or the hope and we're assuming he does is of of having team good enough for him to remain as head coach. You know what's interesting. I was thinking about this as I was reading this early this morning. <hes> that the redskins according to Barnwell look I mean I don't know if it's the worst it's certainly among the five for six worst greg in a starting wide receiver groups and the N._F._l.. And we we know that you know in terms of offensive weapons they don't have much. I mean you have to pray. The Jordan Reed comes back plays thirteen games in his Jordan Jordan Reed again. You got to hope that Chris Thompson is a weapon out of the backfield. The dairy skies pays off as a second round pick and turns into a a guy that with Adrian Peterson is a big time back that that that <hes> Vernon Davis continues to be effective in it somebody somebody whether it's Richardson Dachshund or Harmon or maclaurin. Somebody steps up you.

How to Remember Anything

"They were relocating back from Saint Louis to Los Angeles, a fresh start a new home, but they only won four games and lost twelve they stink. And they hadn't had a winning season in fourteen years with the next year two thousand seventeen things were different. When you find a way to come on the road finish up your record seven and one and win division. There's only one thing you could say. The following season. The Rams win thirteen out of sixteen games tying for the best record and football. They make it all the way to the Super Bowl their secret weapon. The Rams had hired a new head coach, Sean McVay. He was just thirty years old the youngest NFL coach since nineteen thirty eight his secret weapon his memory. We saw you on television. And you remember two ton of place. Sean McVay can recall on-command almost any moment. He's ever seen on a football field. Listen to him being grilled by a couple of sports reporters about completely random plays from past seasons week twelve saints at Rams four twenty nine in the second quarter second and seven on the saints seven what happened? Oh, gosh. Reynolds touchdown off schedule players, the three men rush. You're absolutely kidding me. You're unbelievable. You don't need to know the playbook or understand the lingo to hear that. This is sort of crazy now we are getting back to twenty fifteen weeks, seven bucks. At skin's second seven on the Tampa Bay twenty four fifty eight seconds left in the fourth quarter, famous Crowder wheel route down the right side. Jamison Crowder, we are out down the right sideline. South the first down of that. How did that drive in ordinary touchdown four by one individual eyeso- slant? Shake the brain on shore amazing. He even remembers plays going back sixteen years when he was in the state semifinals in high school, this kind of recall gives him a big edge as a coach when he needs to make a quick decision with the game on the line. He isn't entire library of successes and mistakes at his fingertips. Sean McVay is clearly a savant. But memory is not just an innate talent, you can strengthen yours like a muscle. Your team can use it to pump up creativity and boost sales and just maybe we can all figure out exactly where we left our car keys. I'm Adam grant, and this is work life my podcast with Ted. I'm an organizational psychologist, I study hot make work not suck in this show. I'm inviting myself inside the minds of some truly unusual people because they've mastered. Something I wish everyone knew about work. Today memory, how to make your own recall stronger, and how to build your organization's memory too. Thanks to censure for sponsoring this episode. Through most of human history, the most valuable people to have in your tribe. We're the ones with great memories. Even in the area of cavemen your life depended on that friend who remembered which mushroom was poisonous or where to find water in a drought as civilizations developed you needed to remember which merchants were trustworthy, and which guilds were hostile in Lincoln's era. A Mark of a well read person was the ability to quote at length from many sources now you're probably in the habit of outsourcing your memory to electric devices with the ability to retain and recall information in your head is still crucial. One it helps you establish expertise under uncertainty. If a car salesperson knows safety specs off the top of her head. You'll assume she knows what he's talking about. To having a good memory as a central for making fast decisions. When a patient goes into cardiac arrest during a procedure surgeons don't have time to run a Google search about what to do. And three memory helps you build and maintain relationships you expect a financial planner to remember your risk preferences. You wanna therapist to recall how your worldview was shaped by your your family and before a performance review? You hope your boss hasn't forgotten all the good work. You've done. As a professor I've always encouraged by students to develop their memories. The problem was when they ask how didn't really have a good answer. Then I came across this guy. I've been known to be well a little bit forgetful, Joshua Foa is a science journalist for as long as he could remember he'd had a terrible memory. What are the things that? You've always had the hardest time remembering.
