"News radio. For what it's worth, I'm Brian Clark. Horror movie fans are getting one last run with Jamie Lee Curtis. Come on. Let's go. Halloween ends is out this weekend. It's the last go round for the star and the iconic series. Two of the greatest icons of horror movie same Jamie Lee Curtis and Mike Myers, the mask. And it just persists. And you're also got an entire generation that grew up with this. And Cal's state professor Tracy Salisbury says whether you're a fan of Halloween or Friday the 13th. Watching horror can actually help your mental health. Because it releases adrenaline, it releases the same anxiety, it's a group activity that is very unique to her. As for why so many people like horror so much, one theory is called the beast within, suggesting there might be a little Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger in all of us. Just watch out for nightmares. Especially on Elm Street. For what it's worth, Brian Clark, ABC News. This won't come as a surprise, a woman in California was fired from her job for making a TikTok video. The video showed coffee spilling all over the counter after she forgot to put her mug underneath the coffee maker. The coffee spill, though, isn't what got 24 year old Michelle Cerner fired. It was the work meeting playing on her laptop and another room that got her in trouble. The company let her go because she didn't get the consent of her coworkers or the company for recording a confidential conversation and for making a social media video during work. Tina Turner is getting the Barbie treatment. She's trying to do this in honor of the 40th anniversary of what's love got to do with it. Mattel announced they'll be creating an official Tina Turner Barbie doll. The doll will be part of the company's music series and features Turner in the iconic black mini dress, Jean jacket, and types that you wore in the music video for what's love got to do with it. Well, these are the names of the women, the fictional characters who are targeted in those films. Laurie strode is the main character played by Jamie Lee Curtis in the Halloween franchise. Nancy Thompson is the teenager haunted by Freddy Krueger in her dreams.

"But then I don't think that that's what Alex Garland wanted us to take away from this. Like she's not supposed to be the final girl in a slasher movie, necessarily. And I kind of had to let go of my own expectations of what I wanted this character to be an act in the movie before I could really engage with, especially the latter quarter of it. Yeah, I picked up on something similar. It seems to me that the work this film wants to do would be greatly helped if all of the work of humanizing and delineating the character of Harper as a whole rounded person herself wasn't all put on the shoulders of Jesse Buckley. It was great. She's doing great. But she's kind of defined by her marriage. She gets a mention or two of how she affords that amazing apartment. But her role here is to be reactive and a role here is to be silent and reflective and I get that. And I was reminded of that super cut of Jamie Lee Curtis on the press junket telling all the various interviewers with the latest Halloween movies about its trauma. It's trauma. Well, this one's about trauma. It's about trauma. That seems to me to be a shortcut to get your main character to a place of vulnerability and openness to the uncanny and the weirdness, but at this point, I mean, we can take off those training wheels, right? It's become the prestige horror equivalent of kids having sex in a slasher movie, right? It's gone from being a hallmark to being a cliche. Anytime there's a procedure, you know you're going to be dealing with trauma. Right. And I feel as though with Harper and knowing all we know, just being a woman generally, like you don't necessarily have to go through this intense trauma in order to be terrified of all these other things. So I agree with you. I think that's a good point. I think that the trauma of the trauma is just, it is a cliche at this point and not just in horror and every aspect of pop culture at this moment. And I don't think this film needed it. So I think we've tapped danced around this enough at this point. We can get into the more spoilery aspects of the film. So coming up, we're going to talk about the ending of the movie that spoiler discussion is up next..

"The cost is daredevil with dildos. The costumes were dong Devils. And the quick cuts and the makeup, they're switching and embodying a multiverse of different versions of themselves. Or you see several of them. And the cuts are seamless and there's like effects that aren't over the top, it's great, but it's hard to pin down exactly what this movie is. Yeah. Because again, the title says it. Well, you also have to think about how challenging it has to be as an actor to do that to display such radical changes of a character in a split second, you know? Well, if you remember, there's like one, there's a split second of a fight in a courtroom. And it's like a minute or sorry, it's like a second and a half. But you sit there and you think they had to go in a few hairs and make them set for that. Or just like gorilla, not gorilla marketing, but gorilla filming like, hey, can we use this? We just need it for ten minutes. Walk on set of Law & Order and just be like, they just run in, they do a second and a half of a fight scene in a courtroom and then boom, you're somewhere else. Those cut the editing and costuming and makeup were great in this, because the amount that you see on the screen, you can watch this movie, I would, you know, 5, 6 times, and notice something different every time you see it. And that's a sign of a really good movie. Yeah. Well, and Jamie Lee Curtis, too. I mean, her character is a minor character. I would say she's a supporting character. But she has to play a range of parts and she does it very well. I mean, she has to do a lot of different things in a way that a lot of different actors don't. And I think because she's kind of pervasive through the entire movie. Kind of in different phases. But they used her character really well. And I think she's goofy, but fun. Yeah. She's sort of a. Caricature of a bureaucrat. She has like a finger caught on one of her fingers in a wrist brace on the other hand. You know, and she's just like just weird lady. She has a little bit of the vibe of the Dolores and Harry Potter, like that kind of mean spirited bureaucrat. Bureaucrat. Also, if you're a fan of Pixar films at all like ratatouille, you will love this film. There's some excellent jokes ratatouille esque jokes. I can't help but giggle, just thinking about that part..

"Because i'm hoping i don't have to watch it. It goes and apparently. She was killed in halloween resurrection. Jamie lee curtis was but then she reprised it in halloween. Which the halloween which came out in twenty eighteen. You know how it is. As long as i can keep making sequels and remakes and whatever cash. It's all cash cash money. Yep big money search. Jamie lee curtis returned in halloween. H two o twenty years later in one thousand nine hundred ninety eight and then hollering resurrection in two thousand and two. She's in it and she dies. Apparently she comes back and a different ones. So whatever how about you. What did you like I like the suspense of it built suspense. Very well i did like the Soundtrack very well done you. Didn't like there are a few time lapses and issues with plot but you know whatever is so out of friday the thirteenth nightmare elm street and halloween. This is your favorite probably probably. I mean it's close between this and nightmare street by this one is better was more. Well done i think this one is better. But i think the story in nightmare on elm street that the killer can get you in there in. Your dreams is kind of intriguing. It's a little more of a story. you know. This one is very suspenseful very very well done with the music and all the stuff but i think the story in a nightmare elm street i could use less of the gore in that but i think it's kind of cool the concept i guess is what i'm trying to say and friday the thirteenth year right is just two freaking gore fest. I mean it's unfortunate. That i say in the one we did friday the thirteenth. This it's a total rip off of this film. You know yeah just. More gore is more blood and unless plot. Well there's a little bit of a plot but so can what cocktail writing. Are we giving this phil. I'd give.

Let's let's get into this officially full on in fall and the holiday seasons right around the corner fao. She comes out and says it's too soon to tell on safety of christmas gatherings. What's your thoughts on that. Well i think he can tell how the reaction to that was people are already. I mean there's a good portion of the country that's already pretty much acting like covert is over. Then there are other aspects of the country that are not. I think people are going to do what they're gonna do. I think what's been interesting is that we're now into sort of this phase of the pandemic where people are making the decisions for themselves for the most part The government is sort of stayed out of it. Except for obviously the maxine that the vaccine in the mask issue but other than that people are free to sort of do what they want and so in some states. They're mingling a lot and in some states they're mingling a lot less and i think that's probably likely to continue through the end of the year. Yeah colorado is an interesting balance of both of those things. I think you've got You know a lot of outdoor activity going on right now. Where you're you're seeing. Some people not not worried about it as much but then when this weather does get into winter you have to wonder what effect that's going to have on everybody. Yeah you know what. I'm seeing more optimism now With some of the smart folks. And i hope they're right. I hope that we can have reason for optimism. You know. I still think there's a worry about a wave come november december time timeframe. But let's let's see if we get vaccine vaccination rate up and we start We we may not have that. "We love you you that new podcast from wearing tomorrow called good friend where you'll be talking to people like lena dunham nation maria shriver to name a couple. How did you come up with the idea. And what what motivated it. Well i think more than anything. Cove it motivated because besides the profound physical and emotional toll that kovin took. I also think it took a toll on our friendships. the isolation Really affected me personally. And there's a song by an artist named emily king called good friend. I immediately heard that song and thought i would do a podcast where i talked about friendship. friendships particularly are female friendships. Really your show felt like it was born from its origin about women come together friends. talking and I just felt like it was a perfect time to talk about friendship. How to keep friendships going how to let go of friendships and all of the complexities and intricacies of friendship. I really agree with that. You know even yesterday. We were talking and hot topics about what makes a good friend from supporting you in good times and bad times and not being jealous of each other. What do you think you need what you need from your good friends. I don't want advice. I find advice to be actually stole. I want somebody to listen Maybe maybe mirror back to me. Something that i've said to put some perspective on it but more than anything. I want somebody to listen if i'm going through something. I don't want somebody to try to fix it. I just want somebody to listen for me number one thing. I agree with that completely now. You have another podcast on audible called letters from camp and it's a scripted family show about summer camp and season two out now. You've said that this show was born from an unseen letter. That you're goddaughter wrote you twenty years ago. Can you tell us about that. So my goddaughter boko heff. Who is this show runner and writer of the podcast letters from cap on audible season too by the way with daniel radcliffe in the big guest. Star role of a poser. Who who comes to take the camp. My goddaughter boko wrote a letter to me when she was twelve but she never sent it and it was in her box her stationary box at our home and two years ago. Her mom one of my good friends. Lisa burn bach sent me the uncensored letter with jamie written on the envelope and inside was like a perfect twelve year old letter. Dear godmother jamie. I made a big mistake. I got involved. And i did something wrong. And i'm in trouble. And i feel like i've let it be down blah blah blah and the minute. I got that letter. I called boko. Who's now twenty seven and a comedy writer and said this is a show and we launched it last summer in the middle of kovic when no kids were going to camp. We all recorded under desks and in closets. And it's just a super fun family oriented podcast about coming of age at sleep away. Him jamie lee. I don't watch many horror films. Because i watched politics and the last several years. That's been horrifying enough. But the next. The next installment from the halloween franchise. It's called halloween. Kills will be out october. Fifteenth the last movie earned more than two hundred and fifty five million worldwide setting a new record for one of the biggest opening weekend in history for a horror film. Why do you think these movies continue to be so popular. It's on it's such a good question and it's so hard to answer. I think there's something about good and evil. And in these movies started in. Nineteen seventy eight by john carpenter and debra hill. Michael myers epitomizes. The evil and laurie strode mike. Character of the young babysitter from hatfield represents the good and honest way. I think that's if you combined those two forces that's what really drives the of the horror film good and evil That battle which people really respond to. And i can tell you. The new one comes out on the fifteenth of october and it is brutal now. I don't like these movies. I don't pretend to like these movies. And i don't have to. The point is that people do. And i recognize and appreciate that people do and this movie will satisfy them in a way that maybe none of the other movies have jamie. I love these movies and when you had to tell you i literally. I was so upset when it had be postponed. I've really looking kyle richards coming back. I think this movies are so good. Because it's also about generational trauma. And i think the type of franchise you can watch your family members. Watch with your mother. Watch with your sister. And i it's really impactful and also here the first woman i believe it was over fifty had opening like that and the first woman to do it. So you're a record breaker and a ceiling breaker in so many ways and people talk deg about horror movies. They're also reflection of the politics of the moment. I'm a big hor fan. And like are the queen hor respect forever and we love you. And i had a question but i just spent the whole time telling you how much i love you so i apologize but you are icon. All things amazing. I love you. I'm so excited for this movie. That's all you know what you know what it is. We're survivors and then truth is we have survived politics. We have survived kovin. Obviously not all of us and it's been a horrific result on that could have been different had been dealt with different late but the truth is what you're talking about is i am sixty two years old and i have survived doing commercials for yogurt. That makes you. Boop and michael myers and mac and alcoholism and drug addiction and and and and.

"To hopefully in the future create plants that can travel with astronauts going to further destinations or to create plants that. Can you know better adapt to harsh environments on earth. So those are the kinds of research and technologies that are coming out of this capability And there's a lot there's physiologists biologists astrophysicists that want to use this capability because it provides a lot longer time in microgravity than you can get with aircraft or dropped towers on earth. So it's really really exciting. Time and the fact that a researcher can now fly with their experiments to space is just a whole new capability that i'm just excited to see be utilized. I've always had a curiosity about space. So i understand why seven hundred people have already signed up to fly with you. Starting next year You promised to make this accessible to everybody but with a price tag of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Perceived many people think it's a You know that it's for the wealthy especially with jeff bezos following you into space next week. How do you answer these critics. Well first of all it takes it takes wealthy individuals to crate Exciting new companies. In one hundred years ago it was wealthy individuals that created their the airline over over the decades. The price of airline tickets come Has come down and down But what you know what we're trying to do is come up with lots of ways of neighboring people who could never afford to go into space to go into space so today we've just launched something on amaz Which is just for ten dollars you can. You can spend your ten dollars. You get a lottery ticket if you win you a friend Couldn't go to space. You can come and meet me at the At the space factory rather than the chocolate factory. I'll show you around and all those ten dollars go towards the labeling hopefully dozens of other people to go to space for free and if it works it could be a sort of self propelling thing where we can actually get dozens of people to be able to go to space no-cost themselves. In the meantime the wealthy people will pay hype highest prices. I've been much much less than its costs on if going on getting into space on the right but with the russian spacious but that will help help pay for the new spaceships which will start driving the prices down in the in the decades to come. Now we've seen elon. Musk developed the space x program and amazon founder. Jeff bezos set to liftoff hit his own spacecraft in seven days. I need the truth here. How real is this perceived billionaire rivalry and you can be honest with us. Did it kind of feel good to be. Jeff faso's space just little Honestly not i mean. I know everybody expects me to say yes. And but they fastball. Just going to say what i hate. The word billionaire. I mean we. We've i started with two hundred pounds of my mom. My mom found that clinton gave it to the police and two months later she gave me the two hundred pounds and over the years of created. I think quite a lot of really really quite exciting companies and virgin crews lots of different companies which i think benefited and people that loved experience with an haven't done it to make money. I've done it. Because i want to create things i could be proud of in which which all the people who were can be proud of sharia. You know she. She came and she she is one of eight hundred wonderful people who created virgin galactic We have another eight hundred people who create virgin orbit which puts satellites into space so far more important things than racing racing with rate being seen to be racing with the bill there. And i have to tell you sir richard. You're the reason. I started flying again because of everything you were offering in terms of how to go back into the sky as someone who flew. I'm still not all that comfortable. But i'm better than i was and i. I owe that to you and to virgin america. So you've done that for lack of people. And so i wanna thank you and i want to say. I'm just saying yesterday. President biden's set out to boost the low vaccination rate amongst teens with an instagram post. Asking young people to help him get out the message. One of the biggest pop stars on the planet right now. Olivia rodrigo entered the and. She's at the white house right now. Sarah is a livia a good spokesperson for this push. I absolutely think so. You wanna come to young people where they're at and right now. This is tapping into the pulse of what's going on. Among the younger ones among us but like obama the digital campaign he did bernie sanders when he interviewed cardi b. This is about kind of tapping into their ether. Olivia rodriguez combined twenty eight million followers and her all eleven songs from her recent album sour charted in the hot one hundred top thirty. This girl you can't be in a car or listen to a radio without hearing her song. So i just think this was a brilliant move by the white house to tap into her influence. People use people from pop culture to try and You know get expand you know your your whatever whatever it is that you need and you want going out. And seeing reason why celebrities go out and stumped for politicians. I know you've done that with different politicians from time to time. You just want to get people excited and want to get people interested in bringing out. Somebody that everybody loves is always a good idea to do that. Yeah never a bad idea anna. Will this kind of targeted outreach. Work in your opinion what this is just one that they're doing. they're doing all sorts of outreach. At the white house. I did an instagram. Live with dr foul. She last week they're going for people in the communities are going for preachers or going for local. Doctors are going for the celebrities. And i think this all out approach is what we need right now when we see that so many states over forty states are trending in the wrong direction when it comes to cove it and it's such a stark contrast with what's happening in my state for example where i am so disappointed to see rhonda scientists governor rhonda santa's who worked in cooperation with biden and was bipartisan or nonpartisan in the surf. Side collapse reaction. He is selling political. Swag he is selling. He's merchandising with the suffering of the people who've died with the pandemic don't be cute. Don't sell beer cruces merch exploiting an profiting off the pandemic and buying into the signs denying while your state has increased exponentially and one week. It's called the cases. That's just irresponsible and shameful. And i'm very very disappointed in him. Wow sunny d. Do you think influencers and teen celebs the best messengers here to pass the information to young people. Honestly what be. I'm still so floored at don't fao g. My florida. I mean cove is everyone knows. Hit our family particularly hard with the death of both of my husband's parents. And i cannot believe that you would have the governor of florida encouraging people not to get vaccinated. That is despicable. It's disgusting. But i will say this you know when you look at the numbers for teens. You have sixteen only thirty seven point. One percent of sixteen to seventeen year olds have been vaccinated only twenty four point. Nine percent of twelve to fifteen year olds have been vaccinated. Eighteen to twenty four only forty one point six percent fully vaccinated. So the message has to get out and whoever is the right messenger. Let's do it. i like that. You've heard less mega work. We'll be right back. Nats virgin galactic founder sir richard branson and his crewmates we should ban law are here to talk about what their historic mission means for the future of space tourism and answering critics claiming the billionaire space race is turning the cosmos into a playground for the rich. Welcome back virgin galactic founder. Sir richard branson just went where no billionaires ever gone before on a spacecraft his company built to them into orbit and orbit and he joins us now with his crewmate and the third indian american woman on earth to ever reach space. sirri shah. Band la and sa- richard welcome to the view and congratulations on making history blasting off the edge of space aboard space craft. You know it's it's been a minute how we use that you are looking back. How do you feel was such an achievement through with with a with a woman i. It's just been incredible. I've been dreaming about this. Since i was since i was young so to have achieved aetna and especially to have gone up to space with virgin galactic. Which has meant so much for me. When i was little i saw richard. Sorry i am still little when i was younger I saw richard announced that he was going to create virgin galactic to make space accessible for all and it. That's when i said i was going to go up to space with virgin galactic because they didn't qualify because of my eyesight for nasa or other methods of going to space so So meaningful to have gone to space and to have gone to space with virgin galactic richard. My husband would do anything to fly to space and eat candy. Gobbling menem's do weightless cartwheel's i've told him not to even think of spending that money because he's gonna need to stay in space if he spends that money so he needs to live vicariously through you. Can you describe how it felt what you saw there. Just can you describe it to those of us. That ain't going. Well i mean we we. We we went. We went up from north to three thousand miles an hour. Eight seconds so I suspect the right the right of a lifetime and something that i think both both both responded extraordinary and then having said if he words back to kids back here on earth am i just unbuttoned and then lifting lifting up and just but really becoming peter pan of i've never is indescribable just Effectively flying flying in space and in the meantime richer and other people doing experiments in the cabin for a. We've had experiments for nasa experiments for different organizations. So they're They're they're having a good time but they're working really hard and then the views outside the windows while whilst with whilst we're doing our other things are looking at the winters back at that couldn't credible and there's the the the is is breathtaking And then if your if your husband wants then buckle back in for the ride back it's coming back into the atmosphere It's quite extreme but Bit like you see in the movies but bearable from the body. Well the risha. Esther richard just mentioned a lot of scientific good has come out of space travel things like cat. Scans and gps advanced weather. Forecasting and my understanding. Is that your job on. This flight was science based and you carried apparently experiments strapped to your leg. I wanna know what information were you trying to gather. And how do you think this capability will transform science and research absolutely so my role as mission specialist in this flight Was to conduct human tended research. So i was carrying What's called kennedy fixation to From the university of florida and had a plant in there that would express genes depending on the environment so we took it through hygiene environment on the space and the low g environment in space and they can take it back to a lab and see what genes were expressed to see how the plant reacted to that environment..

It's like the voice of god in all of those award shows except it's a beautiful woman voice which i support is a god on the bobby bones. Show now jamie. Lee curtis he. Hey what what are your friends call you. Do they call you jamie. Jamie lee jamie lee curtis like what. What in normal life do people say. Probably jamie but a lot of people. Call me j. Because i i i'm haiku and everything i write i try to write as few words as possible and i often just right jay on emails and letters so lately people have been calling me jay. I will call you. Jamie lee curtis because you have been an icon in my life for so long. I feel like it would be disrespectful to not call you by your full name. I you know what. I honestly answer too. Many let's talk about this new podcast. That is up now iheartradio. Jamie lee curtis and good friends. Tell me about this. So i i'm good friend was born Do you play music. Play music yes okay. So there's a song called good friend by Emily king. I'm going to ask to play it at some point today It's a great song that starts with. If there's something i need i don't already have. I'm going to get it from a good friend. And when i heard that song i twitter stalked her I put out into the twitter verse. That i'm looking for. Emily king found her. I licensed her song. And i created a podcast because i knew that co vid and this very difficult year for everybody in the world has taken a toll obviously on our health and so many families words horribly impacted but i think it took a big toll on friendships and i thought i would do a podcast about being a good friend. What it means to be a good friend how to keep being a good friend how to let go of friends. And so that's what it's about and do you bring on your closest friends foes podcast. I bring on friends that i know And yet lena dunham who's my first guest on the podcast. I had never met. We had been to award shows together and done that thing that celebrities do they look at each other like bobby. If you and i ran into each other we look at each other. We'd go like this. We might do this. Yeah yeah clapped kind of do a like. I really like what you do kind of thing. And so lena's there my friend melanie griffith who i've known since we were twenty who were was best e and then we separated and then we've become besties again. Many many different people my husband. Christopher guest and his best friend david nick term. So they are intimate. Conversations are unscripted. Nobody's selling anything there. No books to sell. I don't do big intros. We just start talking. I have a lot of questions about your career. But you mentioned your husband. If i could say one thing about your husband In my lifetime. I think he has given more to me in entertainment in the movies and any other human being in the history of making movies like that is just he is what i consider my vibe in everything that i would watch and even honestly the office and parks and rec like without him. I don't feel like the stuff in the even exists. It doesn't and i agree with you. he is a singular talent. He is also incredibly smart. Very quiet very private where i am at open both out and i am. I'm the type of person bobby. You may not know this but undertook person. I'll talk to people in elevators. I'll talk to people when we go out to my kids. Say mom. Please don't make any friends tonight. I will talk to everybody whereas my husband will talk to no one well in looking at your career and i've seen so many of your movies questions that come to mind. Are i get really scared watching horror movies and you. You've obviously done a lot of them. You know we go back to the first halloween back in nineteen seventy eight. But i don't watch horror movies. Because i get so scared and have nightmares but with you would you ever shoot any of these and then have nightmares shoot them. Because you're doing it over and over again now. No no. No no no no. It's a movie. I'm we have a new halloween coming out october. Fifteenth cold halloween kills. It was supposed to be released last year. Kovic sort of killed et for a year and then we even another halloween. Next year called halloween end. So i am right now. Deep in the relationship with michael myers. It's incredible the work is so brutal and so beautifully made. So i understand bobby unlike you. I don't like them. But what i know. And i don't mean that. As an insult. I i'd read twilight and had nightmares like that's how sensitive my palate is too know having scary dreams. But i just wondered. If you're always with mike myers michael myers and that mask. And you're shooting. Does it go into your home life at all in you. So no nightmares none. Okay whenever love knives out loved your performance knives out. I think you just universally so well except it was that movie Read the script or knives out. Were you like oh. This is very interesting. I wonder how this is going to play out. Or did you know that was a smash. Oh god no no no no no there would be no way to note was a smash. Obviously the people were great. It was a big puzzle. And i was a little piece of the puzzle and i knew i just had to show up and do my work. I don't think anybody. Except maybe ryan johnson anticipated the expansion of that movie And they're making a sequel. Today there in greece right now shooting. A sequel a whole new family a whole news story with daniel in the center of it which is so great. Jamie lee curtis is with us through my life. One of the most present people that have been in television movies for me. So it's a real thrill to talk to you. She's got a new podcast out. That's called good friend. And so you know. As i as i watch movies in general i'm consuming them differently now as you are too. I'm sure because now in your mind we can buy a black widow at home right. Which is what. I did. But i look and i see. These movies are two and a half hours long. Now i want to ask you as a movie star. What is the perfect movie linked because two and a half.

"Brothers osborne. the list goes on. Okay there you go thank you. I'm amy that's my bile was amy's pile of stores. It's time for the good news with amy. There's this woman she's pregnant. She tells her husband. Like hey i think. I think i'm going into labor. We need to get to. The hospital is a long drive to get there and she decided at one point. I'm just going to have to get in the backseat. And maybe deliver this baby myself. Luckily she was using an app called gentle birth to help get her through the contractions heads up that exist and so she felt calm during that and then boom one push and the baby came out in the back seat of the car. Lot of elements of the story won the one push. Yeah i know. She's very what i'm thinking about is. You're the bad the driver you having to make that decision to pull the car over and help her deliver the baby. I keep driving. I think i would pull the car over and try to help deliver the baby. Wow yeah the husband said. The baby quote flew out. He was driving any looked in the rear view mirror and the next thing is always a baby by the way not a right or wrong thing that he did. I think me it'd be concerned that i'd pull over and call an ambulance. An ambulance arrived Shortly thereafter knew where they were took her to the hospital. And everyone's doing fine there. You go that's what it's all about. That was tell me something. Good feel indulge me for forty five seconds. I knew you'd hate on it if you were here and i really missed you last week. Man i miss the nerd joke all right so we have ninety seconds to actually figure out the morning corny. It's the investigative corny. Let's go a morning. Glory what do you call a bike trail with no empathy. What do you call a bike trail with no empathy empathy. It's where you feel for someone in a way because you've been through it to you understand. If he has heard we won't spend money on now ray about the jewelry to thinking of buying. Yes so the piece that i have right now. Basically stole from my wife pandora. It was nice but it was the first thing. I got her eight years ago. So explain what you wear though now to our listeners. So it's a longer necklace. It goes more typically longer than most guys would wear it and then it's also at the end like a little. There's some diamonds on it. Probably not diamonds. I've seen it okay. What else so. I've never gone out and got my own chain. Well i ran into a guy he makes necklaces for celebs in la. It's only referral. So you're never gonna see a storefront. And i was giving his number. Hey if you want a piece this is your guy so he does stuff for manziel. Nfl guys rappers. Yeah and so. I got to thinking i really want my own where it's a gold. Maybe some bling. But maybe i do either. A emblem or a thing at the bottom. That has some flash a bobby bones show logo or no. There's things i do. And i thought this could be. This could be me my big necklace purchase. I don't have designer bags. Have stuff like that. So and i've really am leaning in that direction. I wanna do that. So what are the two options. You're weighing right now. So not even joking. I don't know why amy left. But the bobby bones show because big part of my life. Every day. I walk into this building so if it would be on the very end of the necklace that like a little emblem and then the other one is my name s sin. So just be. They'll those letters at the very end of the necklace and your name. I name it all right. That's the data johnny menzel. But the i i mean. Didn't he do susan. Well and citizens gonna go out of style is kind of already has honestly. That was the thing for like six months. So maybe i need to go to bobby bones show emblem. I don't know that. I would spend a bunch of money joy. How much money you thinking about. Spending they said could run depending on. How much flash. I want on the bottom. It could run as much as a thousand. But i can get him down. Talk him a little bit into the hundreds several hundred and talking down maybe he's a celebrity jeweler and he can be talked down. Why not get ray. It's always gonna last r. a. y. b. e. like that or just be love that now. I got a third option. I don't think you get the show logo as much as yeah. Sorry that i laughed but you don't get says it either by don't spend a thousand bucks on jewelry. They know he can take the hundreds okay. You can talk him down well. He dropped mocks free to see what they look like. Oh my gosh yes. And then we throw them on the website. I love ivan traffic. See that's all we do right there. Don't but if you do get some. Mock mockups opened up on the website. Well the best part about it is. It's been approved by baiser. So she said. I deserve a little something like this. Do you have to approve. Purchases ray with her. Massive ones correct does since the gambling issue when money would just disintegrate out of the account. Yes i gotta get some approval. Jamie lee curtis. Everyone was in this movie. But then and then daniel craig is the detective so i think it's going to continue like he goes onto another case like he. It's not it's not going to be the same. Cast besides daniel craig. Because he's a detective so he's going to move on to another case to try to figure out who done

Don Johnson on His New Film 'Knives Out'

"This is popcorn where we tell you what's happening at the movies and there's a movie now that is a WHO Dunnit of sorts but to me. It's the most fun that I've had at the movies movies this year. It's called knives out. And one of the stars is my guest today. Don- Johnson here especially little torture chamber. We Ah the black inside the black kind event also. Well people confess when they sit in this chair. I'll tell you anything anything. Anything he wanted to unburden yourself on. This is a you know I'm I'm ready. I'm ready to just leave. Just push the button. Okay Yeah who did it. No I is a movie that actually begins with the murder but it's not like we know anything well. The interesting thing is is that in the first ten ten minutes you see the actual death actual murder you see and so without knowing without knowing what you're meant to see or what what what you know there. And then you spend the next COUPLA hours having a blast watching these incredibly beautifully flog people entitled I really it just Hilarious it's Christopher amherst character that murdered right and he's having his eighty fifth birthday and yes this all star cast including you. I looked at that movie into any one of these bastards could adopt. Yeah that cast. Is You know the the interesting thing that happened. Is that when we got together to make this movie. It all came together pretty fast and we we arrived in. We shot out of south side of Boston towards Wellesley in this in that house in a big mansion. Yeah and and We all had these new enormous trailers not more than two hundred yards away from the house. we never used them. All we did was as we go downstairs in the basement of this house and we'd picked a room a lot like this a lot more friendly but I had a little more humor to it not much but we would sit around and tell stories about the movies. We'd done it asked you know I'd asked Daniel Daniel Daniel Craig about you know what. Tell me about that stunt and tell me what you know about about this and that and he had asked me about things that that We had done Christopher plummer summer and and I've known Christopher for a long time we we held down a couple of barstools and in San Francisco. I'm not shocked. And that and Jamie Lee Curtis who plays. You're pissed. Oh she he's still see. Well I worked out pretty well because she plays my wife and the thing and I showed up for work she started bossing me around and I said okay. Why not and captain? America's your son Chris Evans. Yeah this normal. Sure everybody's just hanging out there that hey birthplaces and there's a lot of movies that I see sometimes where I think the actors actors are having a great time. But I'm not in this case it's red from what you guys were doing to the audience when we see I know it's infectious. It really is. Yeah and that's harder actually think you know the the the the extraordinary extraordinary thing about this We didn't have a table read. We didn't rehearse we just showed up on the first day and you no. It's not an uncomplicated. No people have to and so we showed up on the first day. And we we start to go and I and and I hit a I hit the tone that I think is right. and Lo and behold Jamie Lee tosses the ball back to me and Scott the same tone and then we started to roll and everybody else sort of you know did their thing and we kind of brought that sense of joy in and in the moment to the to the to the to the To two knives out and I think that that's what you feel. I think that that joy in that fun kind of ride is what you feel like. You're lifted up. But it has a very contemporary temporary kind of spin on it. Yeah you should explain Richard who is a bit of a rat bastard. Yeah well they're they're all horrible people there are they are but he. He is kind of the personification of the Great. I loved him because he doesn't do. Anything doesn't have a job. AUB doesn't do anything he just you know. He's the personification of entitled because he lives off of His wife in the family and all that stuff I sort of played him like a like a one of those country club sizes. Just kind of walking around with half a buzz on over time. It is whatever you want but yeah people you need to see this. And when they do they can thank us for it. I can thank you. You're welcome. You're welcome bureaus. It's a good time and then I have to bring this up too because it's so great is watchman on HBO. You know I've seen you do a lot of great things things right from the beginning. You know even Miami Vice where when people think of it now and they think of how you're dressed and the style that you had and the suits the cheese and the t shirts and the whole deal no socks yeah started a complete fashion trend but that was a really good show. Yeah I was a little ignoring by in the beginning when there's Oh it's just fluff at style over substance and I was going well not so fast you know we we managed to get had some you know a golden globe. And you're gone. What does that mean? It's true But yeah no I've I've been fortunate in that I've had some Some meaty parts get to play over the years and I just think I mean you'll show Abo thing is is is ah trip. Sorry to interrupt with that Help the the the the writer creator of Damon Lindelof was I think I gave him his first job on Nash Bridges. You don't quite remember no way I mean I know that I I saw now I see. Yeah Yeah and then he went on of course to To do lost and forgiving him. No no no. He's true they should. I should be getting away. From all guys Sean Ryan and Carlton Carlton Cues and all the I mean. So many people came out of that That little incubator. I had gone up there. Those shows Nash Bridges and Miami. I swear long running shows which you're playing cops and I remember hearing you do an interview once and said I'm done with that you know and here you are as sheriff drugged God. You Judge Judge for judge hanging around the hanging around. But there's something in that role on. I know I get killed if I say anything too much about it but you know we probably both would. Well you'd be specially killed but I don't know how you get killed yeah to do this. But it's such a wonderfully complex charming character Thank you might have many many other level the NFL. What's happening? Yeah well when I see an emmy nomination for that too in your future Oh bless your heart. Don't vote for the Emmy Okay. So it's useless. I think you know every listen every reality start somewhere with a rumor. Okay talk to John. You heard it here therefore I give you know I'm not getting it's make it happen. Yeah that is a lot of fun to do too because it was. I didn't have a character who can be sitting at a family dinner and get up and do Rogers and Hammerstein and make everybody feel. I WANNA be around this guy. It was just very ballsy and Fabulous to what you know. That's the way I felt about it because Damon column. He wrote me this beautiful letter and of course if you want an actor's attention you just write him a letter and tell him how great he is and you've got his undivided attention. I guaranteeing I don't care who it is. It's like Kryptonite right. You know. Start Bragging on an actor and telling them how great they are. They'll do anything and I fell victim to that. He came in. Yeah Yeah you're the God. And so he Lewis. Is this Lewis right walk on. I love it but he asked me to come in and he told me he kinda told me that story. The sort of long grades plans for for watching it. I don't think he wanted to scare me off so he didn't. He didn't tell me the whole thing but he told me enough and I and I kind of felt like well. I'm in on the joke and I like that. You know and and I also think that it's an interesting thing to have My fans wouldn't expect it no one expects and it's kind of A. It's kind of like one of those things where I can get away with that these days where maybe couldn't before

Movie remakes: the good, the bad and the ugly

"We look at remakes the good the bad, the ugly possibly some other surprises. Here is co host and actor Doug Hutchison, Doug, how's it going today? How are you, my friend? All right there. I'm good. I'm ready. I'm poised, I'm doing really, well, thanks for asking. And I'm excited about this topic movie remakes, I believe it was inspired, if I'm correct me if I'm wrong. But and our last show, we were talking our theme was movies about loss and grief surrender and one of my on the list was movie called pet cemetery based on the Stephen King novel, and I really enjoyed the rigid version, and then found out, they were making twenty nineteen version, which just came out, which I. Haven't seen, but I started lamenting about remakes and questioning the validity of remaking movies that are already made, you know, impeccably, so why remake them. So I think that spurred this topic on, but I just wanted to preface it this by saying that we call this remakes the good the bad and the ugly. But in my research, I actually surprised myself because I found that I actually started liking a lot of the remakes that was digging up the ones that I had seen. And so my list actually has more smiley Osman Ali faces on it. So I guess my list my list is not the good the bad nucleus that the good. I one ugly, just a mention at the very end just for the heck. But anyway, I was wrong. I just gotta say that. I'm gonna confess it. I was wrong. I think there is validity in making certain remakes and I have enjoyed as you'll see a handful of them. Many of us in smiley face by them. And I'm gonna tell you mine are just the opposite might have a frown. After after off your conversation. Holly told you I was looking at the positive and the bright side of everything. I'm gonna try and five five down. So. Great minor five thumbs up years or five down mice, the glasses have full years. At the half full once you're five. Okay, so in, in no sense of order whatsoever, by the way of priority. One of the remakes, actually really enjoyed is Tim Burton's Alice wonderland twenty ten. The original versions, of course, there, were it was nineteen fifty one there was a version of wonderland. And then there was a TV movie version in nineteen eighty five Tim Burton cast as the often does that amazing cast Johnny Depp. He's always cast in depth. So debt plays the mad Hatter Tim Burton's wife, who I've heard they possibly getting divorced. I think I read this the other day which is unfortunate, but it's life and relationship I suppose. Helena, Bonham Carter? It plays the Queen of hearts, young actress by the name of mea was the cow seat in Australian actress plays Alice Crispin Glover plays the knave of hearts. And I can say is in a nutshell Tim Burton. I mean. Filmmaking God or what move? He's actually come down from the mount filmmaking Olympics to give us his gifts or he's made a pact with the devil, because everything this man touches to me turns into gold and his vision, his, his special effects, his whole take on his movies are just unbelievably original income Pele. I loved him Burton as you do. And so Alison wonderland twenty ten Tim Burton's version. I loved it Coleman who call. I'm going to do research on the internet. I'm see anywhere. You came from a good place for that. It's great for me. Number five linking. Said, good things, these are not in order, because this might have been number one for me, the Halloween remakes, specifically by rob zombie. Who's the singer slash director? People that absolutely are in love with his movies. I find him to be one of the I hate shitting by hate it. It's not my style. Rob zombies, Halloween movies are among some of the worst I've ever seen, but not just Halloween. He directed. Oh shit. What are those movies he directed? All other coal classics God. How come I mean? Blinded, I loved that he made it wasn't a remake, but devils reach, I'm not gonna want a lot of people like that movie I do not. I, I don't like rob zombie style. He, he was on Howard Stern bragging on how quickly he shoots movies and I'm gonna know shit. It shows like it's like. Yeah, this looks like something you shot overnight, like it's I should be more friendly towards Massachusetts. Born director. I dunno house thousand corpses. Grind house at devil's rejects. I, I am not a fan of especially the Halloween. It's just he's not as cute as thinks he's on his creative as he thinks he is the movies, look like even shop quickly. There's there. I just find him highly unappealing I to tell you, I've had two interviews, one with another podcast host. Absolutely loved them. Shame on you for saying that. And then I had on the director of directed. I'm not gonna mention what he directed, but he dragged my favorite horror movies, and I said, I'm going to tell you I love this. I compare this something like rob zombie Halloween. I said, I'm not really a fan. He goes robs a friend. I'm like, oh, sorry. Okay. I should have said that. But I'm just I'm just not fan of rob zombie Halloween. And that doesn't even case into account. How awesome the original Halloween movies are even the last one they came out this past year with with. What's your name plays the lead in the Halloween movie stuck? My brain is out to lunch today. Gene, Jamie Curtis. Jamie Lee Curtis. Again, of course. Rijo. Yeah. And that was directed by the latest one when she was in. It wasn't directed by her. It was okay. But completely unnecessary leave the ones that came out the originals alone, their final even the one two three I love them. But yeah, that's how I lick never been touched again. And you and I have talked about the Halloween mask ironically whose face that is. And I hope I hope you believe me now it's face. I did not do any research because I think maybe just slipped yourself a little bit of acid or I don't know some kind of drug or something because that's crazy. I do not I because if I think about that, and I watched Halloween again, what my going to be
