"Then took that draft choice avalon flipped for producing nhl buyers. The seattle went a slightly different route. What they did was. They put a lot of their resources into goaltending defense. Though if you look their two goaltenders. Philip rube our increasingly Those were two of the five of best goalies in terms of goals against average last season. So they they had their coming off very very good seasons. I think one to six defense corps is excellent. You know they took the you know. The top them from calgary march down on older player but one. That's only a couple of years removed winning the norris trophy as nhl best defenseman. I think he's going to be important. In terms of the leadership that he provides an a big strong tough secondary group of defense including autumn larson from edmonton. Jamie alexia clue. They signed from from dallas. So i don't love their offensive ability right now as you know. They're one to twelve. Four regroup is thin compared to a lot of other teams in the national hockey. But i also think that the type of team that they have right now is a team. That's capable of winning a lot of low scoring tight-checking game so we'll see the cracklins opponent in their very first game is the. Nhl's other most recent expansion team who you mentioned. The vegas called nights. We of course all remember their incredible run to the stanley cup finals in their very first season a few years ago eric. Is there any chance that the crack could pull off something similar this year. No i don't think so. I think that they really are kind of a tale of two teams. So i think what happened with. Egas was that you know their expectations going into their first season. We're quite low. I think that they felt that it would would try to make the passive if they could well. The season went unexpectedly well and they completely shifted course and instead of selling players the deadline. They added layers a deadline. And then that has been the new modus operandi going forward with a few of the gambling analogy. They pushed all the chips in two thirds of the way through the first air first season and they've continued to operate that way air very much in a win now boat or a right. At the moment. I think seattle is prepared to build more slowly and in with more traditional template. So i think they're going draft and develop. They're gonna try and be competitive in the moment. But i think they understand that vegas really caught lightning in a bottle. It will be very difficult for them to duplicate that. And and i think that they've done a really good job of distancing themselves from vegas. I mean you know. Just about every sentence out of ron francis mouth when he was first hired was you know we are seattle. They were vegas. I used to joke. You wanted to be the second. Jim and seattle based on. What vegas did you know. I think this is an awesome opportunity. We've got some time here to really get our scouts together and get homework. Done and i think seattle has so much to offer. You know. it's got a great quality of life. And i think want intelligent of the organization not to try and sell they'll refer playoff spot and hope for the best after next. I wanted to ask you about a few key players around the league. So let's start with the nhl biggest star connor mcdavid. David is up ahead. Khattak david it'd be higher by a walk. Scores mcdavid wins it in overtime for the oilers and they take it for two three. We saw him put up historic numbers last season. Averaging almost two points a game which we hadn't seen in the nhl in a very long time and yet his team the oilers went out early in the playoffs. Yet again is mcdavid any closer to having the supporting cast that he needs to make a deep run at the cup this season. And what will need to go right for him and the oilers well in terms of when you go right for david. I think it's simply more of the same. I mean you're right. Is the best player in the national hockey league. By far what. I see happening with connor. Mcdavid what was happening with wayne gretzky once gretzky had you know three four or five years of nhl experience under his belt e widened the gap incrementally year after year between himself and the player that finished second in the nhl scoring race. I i believe something similar has been up with this closes. Competition will probably be is immediately on dry style. But i think that he'll win the scoring title by forty point. Five is the supporting cast any better hard to set up. Because i think they're going to miss out of larson losses in the expansion draft do seattle. They are relying on the same goaltending combination that they had last met. Smith had an excellent year. But he's getting on in years and you know can he play at the same level that he played last year. Jury's out but in terms of warning passed. I think probably the two most important players are ones that were already there that have a draft pedigree in that are gradually emerging into better players. In one is yes. He ple yard who was playing with mcdavid on that top line. Know the other wing spot is going to zakheim. That was their key. Free agent. Acquisition behind brings grit leadership proven ability. Play with with a top player. He was either playing with austin matthews john chavez in toronto last year and really help those guys at the levels that they were at. And then there's cuyler yamamoto and other young player that simply needed to mature so between yamamoto. Npr maturing and grafting zakheim on that lineup. They're just flat out deeper upfront than they have been. Sometimes it's just the collective maturation of group that allows a talented team to take the next level. I think that's what they're counting on in evans. I went out on a limb just about all of the so-called experts are picking vegas to win the division. I picked up. I just ready to Next so you still haven't learned eric. Let's move from the league's biggest star to one of its oldest stars. the washington capitals alexander. Ovechkin is chasing record that for years. Many people thought of as totally untouchable wayne gretzky's career goal scoring record. Ovechkin is now thirty. Six years old and one hundred sixty four goals behind gretzky. Is it an attainable goal for the great aid. I yes i do. And i think that we're since we're talking about numbers i'll throw a number back at you. Five year contract extension. I thought that was absolutely critical because in the national hockey league wants a player passes the age of thirty five often. The temptation is signed one year contracts and go year-by-year just assess at that point where you're at well. The fact that he committed for five years the fact that washington was prepared to sign him for five. Years tells me he absolutely has gretzky's record insight. I think he's still capable of scoring forty goals a year for the next three years reason. I say that is because if he were a player that was on foot speed. You know a player like connor mcdavid the fastest player in the nhl when he gets to be thirty five or thirty six if he ever loses half l. will affect his performance. But if you look at the way. Alex ovechkin plays the game a hockey you know. He has his entire career or the same goal over and over and over again. You know what's coming still can't prevent it from happening. Alex vets john carlson. Thies it up at the point of the blue line or that cross house from nicholas backstrom at one time. Everyone knows it's coming. It's still ovechkin to that spot. I just don't. I don't see a drop off in the thing that he does. Well is a powerful strong ban. You can still lost that hockey through screen through the defenseman bright pasta. I can see him just going out there with a walker at age. Seventy and ripping one timers from the top of the circle. Well the beauty of having a hockey stick is that you don't even need a walker you can just lean on.

"Maybe we see more of that on the crack in since they don't have as good puck. Moore's stars already. Have he try and find a different role there. Maybe even two but level when we first got him he was good. We sent him off to pittsburgh to get better. Brought him back made a cup run. Good luck to them later on the cup without him. Yeah that's that's the other reason. Why a lot of people are talking about About alexi especially the seattle's very excited because he has stanley cup experience stanley cup finals experience and nonetheless so i know a lot of people look at that in some people believing that some people. Don't i believe unless you're in that kind of situation you really don't understand what the experience is like to be in the stanley cup final and you know for someone like jamie alexia. You've got that experience. He's in the prime of his career. He's twenty eight years old. He's not like you know late thirties or forties like chara or anything like that and like you said. He played with a an elite defencemen in mirror. Hey skin in the past year and a half or two years so in in he was averaging over twenty minutes. A game for that has passed season. So that's i mean that's a huge hole that the stars would have to fill which they have filled now..

"Just kind of have this pack mentality about it. Yeah i mean i. I'm looking at it right now. Definitely there not. There's nobody that where you look at. You go oh my god how to how this guy slipped through free agency. You know like the first day of free agency. But like i don't know. Can you get ryan murray for less than three years. Three million dollars is a much better men than derek forward. Just yeah. you're not right. Shot i guess but You know you. He's a good. He's a good player Sammy vaatainen is a player. I think that we all agree have has some lower end of the lineup value. You know again. Nobody's calling these guys can. Have you seen anything quite like the connects defensive depth shot on the right side where it seems like right. Now it's tyler myers travis. Avonex tucker pullman in luke shanna guests. I think madison bowie might also still be there about sheriff as a free agent. Yeah it's i. It's not making me timmy. Friends in conduct land right. Now i can tell you the truth. I i i mean honestly you know i guess a good gauge of how much it seems like the attitude towards cat space and contracts has changed in the course of seemingly two weeks. Is you know if you If you look down this list of contracts how many of them if they pass through waivers on january twelfth twenty twenty one would have been claimed. You know i think there's a double then that would be. I think there's quite a few of them that wouldn't be. You know there were there. Were good players all season long. Who were on contracts that just so happen. You know that it was two years. Instead of one year three years instead of two years it was three million instead of two million and there were passenger waivers seemingly on a weekly basis and then suddenly it seems like you know. I don't know if if the owners jams got all excited because they started. Espn logo in the corner of the screen for the first time but suddenly it seemed like the pursestrings were open and every team i guess just completely reverted to a you know i guess. In retrospect probably what they were dying to do last for which is get back to normal and and start giving out seven hundred seventy million dollars much of it as usual gonna get regretted. I think that is certainly true art. I'm going to give you guys my. Take away the seattle cracking. Yeah so i have to admit. I've spent a large chunk of the past week trying to come up with potential theories Talking to as many people as i can elite trying to sort of piece together what the vision and plan was here and sort of the sequence of events that led to all the decisions seattle's made in terms of personnel. They've acquired in various ways so far. What their vision was for this roster year one and i was hoping you know leading the expansion draft which the three of us talked about at length on podcasts. We are kinda came to a agreement that it made sense that they valued cap space in flexibility as much as they did. They didn't wanna take on anyone else's bad contracts really for the most part and we figured that either via some sort of trades down the road they would acquire assets for the future or maybe disgruntled players or players that other teams just couldn't afford anymore or they were going to go big game hunting agency with either dougie hamilton. Or gabriel landau scott or whoever else and they were going to really bolster their team. Which would have actually made sense. I think normally you'd say building through. Free agency is an ideal but just based on the personnel. They'd acquired in the expansion draft. They had this interesting complimentary group of low event defensive players and if you added a couples of linchpin offensive threats could really make them an interesting team especially in the pacific division and i guess technically like they certainly spent Here in day one. They got some interesting pieces depending on your mileage on them. But i can't. I can't reasonably say. It was an optimal use of their bill resources. And it doesn't make me feel doesn't do anything to make me feel more confident in what their plan is moving forward because it feels like something weird happened in the meantime and they sort of have to readjust because this couldn't have been their number one game plan heading into it. It just seems so bizarre case. The thing that i don't understand is they. You know i. I think sensibly kinda went cheap on goalies in the expansion draft. They they got a check and they got a treasure and one other. I'm forgetting to corey exam. So they send him up and down. Yes and li- joy to You know his track record even before he got pro. Hockey is is solid and and so it was like okay. they have waco of. They're getting their ducks in a row in the crease. And then they were like what if we gave a twenty nine year old six years and and almost six million dollars and then traded a one of the goalies redrafted back to the team that gave him up. What have we did that. And what if we let gavin beyreuther the only guy we took from the guy we took from columbus. What did we let him just sign with columbus. After all this like what was the point then would like just. I don't know say pass. We're good we're not gonna take these guys you know it's kind of belaboring the point a little bit but like when you go all man look at how much cam space they have. They could go hog wild they could. They could offer sheet Allies patterson they could they could offer sheet Any any number of guys and then they were like yeah. We're going to give jaden schwartz five and a half million dollars in leg. I don't have anything against any of these players that i'm about to say but going to give alexander number four and a half million dollars are gonna give jamie alexia. Four and a half. We're going to give adam larsson. Four were And then i said group are already. It's like oh okay so you're just gonna spend money like a normal gm that feels like they're like for you know quote unquote going for it Okay because you know the thing. The thing i and i wrote about again i wrote about this. Like a whatever Right before the expansion draft. But i think i said you know they. There's no pressure on them to be like actually good because their division stinks right. Les they could. We set it last week. They totally back into the third place in the pacific with the roster. They they had at the end of the expansion. We like you know that was totally a reasonable expectation and they said what if we barely improved but spent twenty million dollars to do it. It's a plan. yeah it none of it made any sense to me at all i was. I was blown away when that alex winberg contract came through. I mean you know you gotta remember like winberg is a guy who got bought out of a contract that was essentially just this contract like fleet. Last year he was on four point. Nine until twenty twenty three and now he's at four point three until two thousand twenty four and the only difference between then and now is that he shot twenty percent this season. Which as always you know we know is a perfectly good measure of a player's talent.

"They have to be bold and make big moves and we saw the buyouts in minnesota. Those aren't amnesty those count against the cap year three and four are going to be punishing for the minnesota wild. Has there been anyone or any whispers or anything to do with bringing back an amnesty bio period. The likes of which we see usually after new ciba's or no. I remember jeff when when this one was being worked on before the bubble people said. Oh there's going to be a bio. And i remember asking around but and i was told by those who would know that the owners were dead set against it no money outside of the system and they were right. It never was close. I think there were people who assumed it was going to happen. I think i mentioned it wants and someone reached out to me and said don't go there. It's not happening and i. It was never close. The owners made it very clear. No money outside of the system. Alright money inside the system. Eight years seventy six million dollars. We'll get to the jones contract here in a second. But what do you make of. The trade and what columbus was able to gets In exchange for south jones. I was shocked that columbus did were able to do what they do in the deal. And i and i say that with credit to them seth jones i believe had given three teams that he would consider signing long-term with one of them was chicago and the others were dallas and colorado. And we knew that colorado wasn't going to be able to do it. The avalanche had made it known that they would be willing to consider one year of jones. they would be willing to do it for the last year of his current deal but they couldn't do it long term. They had too many things going on so they were never really an option dallas. I think considered it but there were a couple of things there for them. To make the deal they probably would have had to subtract in. Nhl player off their roster. I don't know how crazy they were about that. And i'm not sure that columbus was even crazy about taking any players so that's number one number two. I don't think dallas the extension is eight times nine point five. I don't think dallas was willing to do that. I don't think they were willing to go higher than hastening. He's insane eight times eight four five. I'm not convinced. They were willing to go higher than him on jones so i know dallas name was out there and rumors. A couple of people told me you know. After the deal came down they were never close like it was never a point where anybody really thought he was going to dallas so chicago. Initially as we talked about a couple of weeks ago the i ask was dock and or debrincat. Possibly both and obviously that wasn't going to happen. And then i think columbus realized that chicago was really motivated to do it. Chicago was really the big extension so then it was grind. Time it was. They had to work with them to get things done. And i have to tell you. They did better than i thought they were going to do. I think they liked kercheval. Because he's santer winger and they're always looking for centers. But i think chicago said they'd really didn't wanna do him and columbus fought for vocalist and they got him and considering all the extra picks they got. I have to tell you. I thought they did unbelievably well. The blue jackets much better than i thought they were going to do. I could've seen khrushchev part of that deal. I could've seen someone like lucas reichel. i heard chicago. Didn't wanna move curse. Lucas recall did that name. Come up at all. It came up. I heard the name kercheval and some people said to me. He's on the no fly list. So i mean i'm assuming that they didn't want to trade reichel but i never specifically heard it one way or the other. You know it's interesting. You mention dallas. Because this sort of coincides with the name. John klingberg getting out there a little bit And you wonder if that would have been this is sort of all under the light of dallas with their offer which i believe was four times four for jamie alexia lack of to seattle for more money and longer term Than the four years so to me. That sort of made a little bit of sand cycle k. If you're gonna proclaimed berg out there you're gonna lose. Alexia act seth jones slides into that spot. But to your point you know. The the nine point five wasn't going to happen in dallas. The question that i have. I think the mini- people have about south jones in chicago is what does this mean for the rebuil- now normally look at rebuilds. And i say. The goal of a rebuild is trying to get good players. And seth jones despite how the analytics community may feel about him right now being on the on. The decline in his career is a good player. Now this is why. I really didn't mind you know the rangers were starting to rebuild and we're getting our tammy pinero i understood that. Does this feel the same as the rangers going through a rebuild and grabbing on the idea the chicago is going through a rebuild. Here a lot of it's gonna be around dock and debrincat and they grab twenty-six-year-old seth jones. I think what it says to me is. They're trying to speed it up. And i think they're gonna look in goal. The marc andre. Fleury thing. I don't think it's anywhere right now but i think they were interested. And there's something interesting going on there in vegas. I think there was someone who is interested in atlanta and it might have fallen apart. I'm not exactly sure what happened there new jersey. But i think so but i don't know it okay. Yeah i think so. But i don't know it. There was something it didn't happen new jersey's seems to be the one that makes the most sense but i can't say with one hundred percents certainty. I think chicago is going to be looking for a goalie. I just think they're going to try to accelerate this a bit so then elliott from the columbus point of view. The rebuild is on. Oh is it ever. First of all. I thought jay beam was a really good gamble. Big time the one thing. I like about the blue jackets is if they say they're doing something they don't kinda dip their toe in the water. It's a nine foot cannonball from the top of a cliff or something like that. All the water goes flying in every direction. There decisive and john davidson now. He's the voice and he's the face of it and yarn will kick a line and can just work and say okay now going to do it and you think about all the all the guys like. It's amazing when you think about it. Nick flea knows gone dube was gone. Todarello's gone seth jones is gone. Cam atkinson is gone. And atkinson was supposedly the happy face of the franchise right. No this week. he's doing promotions. About what a great place it is and all the sudden he's gone and i basically think that columbus just said if we're going to rip the band aid we're gonna rip the band aid. You know the one guy who's kind of still there. Who's a big piece is. I think they've been asked about him. And we'll see if that goes anywhere that just stays you know all those names you just mentioned and there are few others you can throw in whether it's whether it's parents y'all far back you want to go but those were decisions that were made for them. These are decisions. They made all the decisions they made. You put those guys on the team. They better than seattle. It's a really good team. That's a good team. Essentially columbus has has just handed away. How do you see the check. Atkinson deal well. We knew that vohra check. They were talking about a change of scenery right. I got to tell you..

"A said no. I'm serious this guy is good to me. That's a sneaky could pick by seattle. That's not gonna get a lot of headlines. Was there one and perhaps the answer from his carolina. Was there one team. You're surprised by the pick from seattle. Because morgan geeky over players like jake. Bean to me is more than an eyebrow raiser was there one team out there. Few the assad. That's an interesting choice. I didn't know they'd go that direction. Well when i heard beyreuther that was one of them. Just because i definitely didn't know they were going to go in that direction. You have kevin stenlund. Yes you did. Okay i thought. John quenneville. I thought they might take the door of so. Quenneville from the blackhawks was another guy. That kinda surprised me a little bit. Hayden flurry didn't surprise me. I i. I wasn't shocked at all. I know what the kings i really liked. The curtis mcdermott pick. But some people thought they'd pick Calc lake so i was. I was kinda zeroed in on that. But i like mcdermott a lot. Like you saw dave paxton talk about team. You know mcdermott pretty good team guy. He's very tough elliott. Yes really really tough hockey player. yes he is. What did you make of the jordan. Abberley selection. I think they really wrestled without one. He could've gone. Bailey coulda gone bellows. Yeah i thought they really wrestled with it. You know balian and have the same term. there's a little bit more money on On abberley as opposed to bailey. I think but i heard they really wrestled that one just to figure out. Okay which of these two do we do. We want you know. I think the allens are going to be interesting. I know how much lamelo loves rumors about his deal. I'm about as guys. But i know there's there's some teams wondering if they're going to be able to fit bo villi there with everything else that he's gonna try and do. That's going to be a situation to watch. I think. I think the other. Big surprise is larson. I again jeff. I've said a couple of times. It really looked like this deal was going to get done and i spoke to another player there today. After that got announced that he was going to seattle at basically the same money they edmonton was willing to pay. Its not like the crack and a blue the other side of the water here and you know they just said he was a guy looking for a fresh start you know. He's been through a law. His father passed away and how emotional that was for him. You know cleft bomb leaving. They said that was a bit of a factor to bite. You know one of the players said to me that they just wondered if he ever felt comfortable they're like going to edmonton in that. Whole maelstrom of the taylor hall deal and all of the one for wind jokes and and things like that. They said to me that adam larsson never felt comfortable in edmonton because of the way he got there and they just think that with a way it started and and cleft bomb and the family challenges you went through that it was just like you know what it's time to go do something else that would make sense. And that's one thing that we don't talk about enough when your those two and their performance were married for a long time. Who's going to win this deal House larson playing measure. That off against taylor hall as ridiculous as that might be. Because one's a defenseman wanna left winger. It did happen right and listen. We've seen it. We saw was su ban and weber like the high profile ones. This is what happens and we never consider what that does to the player who's considered the inferior of the two. We never talk about what type of mental grind. That puts you through like i always wondered. You know what happened. You know what went through the mind of Of tom kurvers in toronto. After that deal and after you know look at turned into You know. Tom kurvers for the draft. Pick that turned into scott neater buyer like that could not have been easy for the late. Tom rivers at all. That and we never consider that. We never considered it. I remember when i covered the montreal. Expos it's spring training one year. It was the year after. They traded pedro martinez and one of the pictures. They trade him for was tony. Armas junior at locked. I didn't interview with him. And oh i just remember him looking at me during the interview. Singham i'm going to have to deal with this all the time other deals around the nhl other stories around the nhl right now. We'll start with hall taylor hall. We just mentioned him with that tattooed trade and now adam larsson has left. He's member of these. We should get the compensation here as well. Seattle crack adam larsson. Seattle cracking jamie alexia larson. Four years for av alexia. Five years for point six by the way do not feeling that alexia leaving almost and i know you're gentleman g you don't to take things personally but they feel like this one might personally hurt. Jim nill i always got the sense that he really loved jamie alexia. They brought them back. Remember after he went to pittsburgh thr- autumn back had great success held onto him at deadline. Winnipeg was pushing hard. Thought it was going to get done. Loved the guy off to seattle thought on that one. They almost trade him at the deadline. There was a lot of interest. Like i said. Winnipeg colorado dallas themselves. They obviously really liked him. If you're going to get outbid you're going to get outbid. It wasn't.

"Who may be wasn't fully appreciated before and now in a new environment will be able to fully break out and You know adam larsson and even jamie alexia co. i think a lot of people are down that contract. And i think that there's there's reason for people to be very skeptical about paying a defensive defenseman for five years on a deal you know both of those players have performed very well specifically defensively in the past couple years and and a project very well as a result. So i think the ryan's point you know. This is a low event defensive team presumably if their coach properly and based on what axel set it at the press conference he said all the characters hard-working for checking stuff. So i imagine that's the kind of style they'll be playing. You know like i. This defense could definitely got out. I good number of wins and it wouldn't surprise me especially in the pacific to see them do well but I wouldn't exactly be running to the bed on this team. Finishing above ninety five points this year. I mean yeah. It seems like it's certainly that didn't happen by accident and prioritize ties it. Probably somebody just has to do with the fact that it's still is a you know a bit of a market inefficiency in the league in terms of like defensive value and trying to quantify it and actually evaluating that stuff appropriately with actual quantifiable results. Do this guy is. You know wins a bunch of face off. So he's good defensively. I was ready to be high on this team's blue line..

"Start checking line agree and then our young prospects are all goal scorers like we don't have like someone who we classify only as a defensive forward late that'd be that'd be terrible prospect anyway so yeah our fourth line is or third line. Whatever you wanna call it is gonna be the one that's gonna be r our scoring bottom to line just because random or the guys who have the potential score random thought. I'd love to see a line of these. Three guys. Read gardner jason. Dickinson radic foxy. I think that would be a perfect checking line for four thousand for the stars and for the third line. Leave it open to the to these prospects. That i mean we. We need to mention this. But riley damiani he he. He was named as joe rookie of the year this past week. So you know this is the guy that was a fifth round pick back in eighteen. I believe and now he's really starting to make his move. And i think with all of these contracts that were that were losing He has a real chance to making the stars roster and i hope he does because we obviously if there's anything that this team needs more of a scoring right am i wrong. No you so wrong. We don't need it anymore. So that's just what. I'm hoping that we see these. Young prospects like damiani and master in and harley even harley i'd love to see hurley make the jump next year even though he's new he's probably arguably our best prospect but because our defenses so loaded. I just don't know if he can push for a job. 'cause i i would not want him harley to be in the third peering the am i being ridiculous and thinking that yes are you think so i would i would. I would wanna see him playing a top four minutes and with the players that we have right now. That's not going to happen. He would still get good enough minutes on the third pair. That wouldn't be an issue but if he's a seventh i agree with you. But if he's a he's a fifth or six that's fine. I'm only worried about that. I'm only worried about that. Because of the way that we've seen bonus run as defense. I mean he. Highly highly highly leans on those top for defenceman and we could see that base off the ice time. 'cause i mean whoever was on but he still didn't play he played like sometimes a third of what miro heiskanen john klingberg and sometimes even jamie alexia played so. That's that's why..

"Well first of all. I don't think that's true. I feel like something's wrong with that just because that sounds incorrect. It just doesn't sound right to me but anyway if that is true than they'd have to like they'd have to do the option where they like certain amount of players instead of the six four. Three defensemen right. Don't you think. I don't know 'cause they'd have to league have to leave a certain amount of of players unprotected. That are like able to be taken that meet those qualifications. Were all right but even on the goaltender front so let's say that they don't have to protect ben bishop because he didn't play enough games they protect dhabi and they still have to goaltenders. Who could be taken in the draft. Who could be eligible when that's lane bow and cold point and both those guys qualify for expansion vail joe but there's but they there there's some other roles about it it's like you have to be a certain i it's really specific. Like the how the how. The expansion draft works. But i mean that that could completely change everything about the sars outlook and how they would approach the expansion draft and who they protect so i thought that was worthy. You know noting in. Maybe that's why they shut down. Ben bishop for the season. Yeah especially because it looked like he was about to come back later it really like he was. He seemed fine. He was skating. Wasn't he making saves yup during practice. He was a that was surprising to me. Maybe he kneels doing something fishy. But i believe in nil so whatever into it every once. I still feel like we're losing dickinson. So and those are our talking to data about that last night as like my two favorite players right now. Are jason dickinson. Jamie alexia ac and that seems like the chopping block right exactly like one of those. It seems like we're gonna lose one of those two guys so that's really really really unfortunate but We'll have to get back to you on that and we'll do a little bit more research to see What's going on with all of that.

"And one. Didn't kevin hayes for whatever reason just just didn't work at didn't work in winnipeg and he's gone on and he's done quite well in philadelphia and that's just the way it is but he already spent two first round capital already. Can you do it again. And does that first. Get your jamie alexia okay. Great so say you do get jamie aleksic. Then what are you doing protection. Wise with seattle. And then you've got another problem because you know right away they're protecting and morrissey on the back end and now you get into. What else are you doing. Do you have no move clauses that you have to protect or it's far more complicated that we think than we think i would have liked to have seen him do more than jamie benn. And i'll tell you why drake's already yeah jordan. Said jamie benn. If i do it all the time. George ben plays in vancouver. I live here on. Watch them play one hundred fifty times. And i still call them. Jamie benn apologize. He's got a way better beard than his brother by the way better. Derek forber got banged up in a game about ten days ago and when he came out of the lineup just for the end of the first period and into the second i went. Oh my gosh. They're thin and so that. That was the moment to me that i went. They have to add somebody. Because here's the next auction. It's not really sammy. Nico because it forward gets hurt. You might have to go to dylan somber ingred. Who hasn't played it because he's bigger and physical if i'm winnipeg and they're still fighting away a little bit for positioning here. I might want to get sandberg in the lineup. I might wanna get haina lay in the lineup and go. What can they do. Just in case. I need to play when you guys made that point as as part of the analysis. I think dave and said that post in wrapping up saying okay. You didn't add the piece that you're looking for because you're you're looking after an oleh and somber will now. We need to see those players in the nhl in we got. Where do we go. How quick saw you know. I want to wrap on on vancouver. Want you to just talk about you. Know being push back into the game here. On on friday by the nhl coming out of just a colbert nightmare with not only the players in the stop but now they're children families extended pregnant wide. I mean it's just horrendous. Quick todd and cool off with the edmund so honors just just a little bit more depth to shore up the left side. I think so i. I believe they had A hope that caleb jones could take that left side spot and and really play Really grow on a on a really nice year last year really hasn't happened the struggles have been there and doesn't mean it's not a good prospect that means that none the struggles. Are there on a young player right now. They really have lights later kuku. But he's been hurt so they bring in. Kulikov was a big body. i know one winnipeg they. He was their favourite kicking the shins guy because he was making four million bucks always not anymore. He's a depth guy. He's strong he can defend. He's big so when he gets out of quarantine pretty easy to see. Maybe he becomes a pair for adam larson that they can start playing gates big top end forwards. I just want to say about the canucks man. I feel for those guys..
