"It set up was a game. Changing and that dr last thing i want to cover was minkah fitzpatrick. Moving around that something. I have been touting for awhile last season after after the season ended on my show. Is michael beck. We were doing the curtain call. We were talking about drafting players. I talked a lot about you know if we drafted someone that could play deep zone. We could move minkah fitzpatrick around more. And that's a big deal because minka. This patrick is the defensive back with the most gravity on the field in the secondary since troy paulo gravity. What i mean is that as is. There's almost like you don't go on screen play with making his patrick android circle around him and just like like a little ghostbuster circle. Put that red line right through the middle of it. And just don't throw here right. That's fitzpatrick having player with that kind of gravity and they're just locked into deep zone. Means you just don't throw to the to the zone there in your somewhere else if you're moving him around because you've got a guy and traynor would that can fill that deep zone role in edmonds. Played a good game i. I haven't really singled him out. He didn't stand out a lot but they didn't target him. That one play where he he ran in front of the receiver to cut him off in case they were getting into the end zone on. That overthrowing ball other than that like edmunds had a good game. Played a lot of deep zone. While they're moving minkah fitzpatrick around. It was trained norwood and terrell edmonds and they didn't get beat deep. The sealer still didn't get beat deep week. One they're up to the challenge and that's awesome because that allows minkah fitzpatrick to move around more. And the more creative we can be with minkah fitzpatrick the more we fight. Hey minkah fitzpatrick is great doing this. Or he's doing that or the ability like in this game for for much of the game for minka fitzpatrick to just go over and be in zone. Wherever steph on digs like stefan digs is up on the on the right side on the inside sly and guess us in zone behind him megabits. Patrick yeah. There is a man on stefan digs pattern match on step on digs but supporting that is making fitzpatrick and stuff on digs. He got his like fifty yards. You know the old ab ab got shot down. He got fifty yards. Steadies is fifty yards as it. So i'm very pleased with. This is something to look forward to. I wanna point out that the steelers secondary is a work in progress. You're never as good as your best week. You're never as bad as your worst. Remember that you know trae norwood's going gonna struggle. There's games cameras sutton is gonna have a bad game. James pierre is going to beat things are going to happen even fitzpatrick it's the right. Don't don't expect us to be. You know the second coming of the two thousand eight steelers secondary. It's they're not there yet but they play a heck of a game to start their journey towards who they're going to be this season and that's fantastic. That is fantastic. And i am very excited to see what comes next. We got the raiders. Next week you know bring it on. That's that's it for our show this week. That's it and as always we're brought to you behind the curtain. Check out the website. Check out the podcast especially go check out the fantasy football focus if you're in defending fantasy football and i'll catch you on the next time. I'm a good night man..

"Because he's being chased he doesn't wanna take a big hit. Cameras sutton happened to be two steps. Closer to that quarterback devin bush or bud duprey were so who gets the sack cameron site and didn't even touch the guy right. Those were his. That was his tackle for a loss and a sack in twenty twenty twenty twenty one in game one. He has to legitimate tackles for loss already so just much better. He he is. He has worked on being outside corner. He's prepped for it and he showed that that showed up. Yeah he gave up some receptions very little yards after the catch and just played really. Well he was beaten for a touchdown the man he was encouraged on that down a little bit slow. Great throw though. I mean that's one of those plays where you just throw beat good coverage he was in really good coverage the throw is just better. I honestly i'm going to say. I think cameras just played the best game of his. Nfl career to this point. I mean that. Because i think he's the hardest role he's had to play and he was really good so for me. Cameras sutton great rate game. We've onto james pierre. James pierre was not coming on nickel plays like they thought they might you do instead. James pierre came in on dime snaps. So cameron sutton in the nickel was outside. The kept cameron sutton outside. They put traynor would in the slot for nickel in dime. James pierre came in for one of the linebackers he played outside and sutton slid right back in to the diamondback role that he has played so well for the last three four years. Pierre was solid again not great. You don't need greatness from your number. Four cornerback right outside of one incredible. Pass up he had in the fourth quarter they kind of bit of a blown coverage and you see james pure comment and just you know tomahawk chop the ball right out of the receivers hands and it was a cool play. But it's it's even better when you look at what happened after that. And this is one of those butterfly effect place of course. The butterfly effect is the theory that like a butterfly flaps his wings over here and a soon nami happens because a chain of events occurs right james pierre on second and six knocks the ball out of a receivers hands comes in bloom. Covers receivers wide open jane spear hustles over bam knocks the ball out pass broken up its third and six on third and six cam hayward sacks josh now fourth and twelve on that fourth and twelve play miles killebrew bursts through blocks the pie and the steelers score a touchdown if james pierre doesn't recognize that there's a bride receiver wide open on that play about to catch the ball. It doesn't make it there and knock that ball down the bills convert on second six instead of third and six and a hayward sack you have a first and ten very different drive and quite possibly a different result in the final score. So that's one of those moments. I'd like to pick out where people are like. Oh you know this play was super important. Sometimes there's plays that someone makes like that it's just a hustle play just a just a catch up play. That has a bigger impact than just. Hey you know that's the now. Go to thirty six one..

"They may do that. I know this. I wouldn't expect our team to do that. I would expect our team to be that because I'm doing the thing that the Pittsburgh speakers do not expect. You know, I said that on the preseason games and was kind of everybody expects the bills to kind of do this right here. And this right here. You always do. Day Ball always does that Which you do not expect. In a way that you do not expect him to do it so that maybe maybe they come out and run the darn thing. 15 straight times to start this Steelers game. Um, in the season, where their quarterback is supposed to be the M V P Um, certainly, that's not what anybody expects. Right, And I don't think we should dismiss the state. The fact that You know Stefan, too. It is not going to be out there for them. Um I mean, he's been bothered by any injury. And because of that. He was in camp and overweight and It does not look like he is. I mean, he's not going to play. I think he's an I R right now, Um That's a loss for them. On that front three. Yeah. I mean, that is a big loss. I mean, Chris warmly is a nice player. But when it's Tyson, aloo Aloo, Cameron Heyward and Stefan to it, that's a threesome. You know what I mean? That's a trio of defensive lineman that are going to hold that line of scrimmage. What happens if he's a nice player? T J doesn't show up either. Well, Yeah, then they're a different group. But I see it and if they if TJ doesn't play That That throws a wrench, not forget about Pittsburgh Steelers defensive game plan. Their game plan may be the same without T J Y. They just won't be able to do it as well, because he won't be. You know, they won't have as good a player there. Whoever is going to be But without T J. Watt in the game. The Bills offensive game plan changes. I mean there, you know. That's a difference. They're going to make play selections based on that. And if you got to it out and T J watt out Wouldn't you want to find out if those guys can hold up in the run game? I think you would. Yep. I think you would. He's on IR now, so he's done for the first three games, at least so he will not be a factor in this one. He's a damn good player, so They're already down that guy on their defensive front. So that's what that's I thought of that when you said Oh, you know, Brian table might do something at least expect them to do. And I'm thinking to myself. I wonder if they think they can run on these guys, right? You know? That's that's curious to me now. Devin Busch is back. You know, they're super talented inside linebacker. He's fantastic, and now he's paired up with Joe Schobert who, as we heard from a DD That guy is calling the plays back there. He's running the show. Yeah, he's got communication with the D. C. Butler. So Uh, that that will be interesting. But there is a lot of turnover. They're missing. Some quality players know Steven Nelson from last year's top five defense. Know Stephon Tuitt tomorrow or Sunday. Excuse me. And No Mike Hilton, who was their best nickel corner last year, so They got to fill some voids. They're Yeah, they're more than the bills have, like I say that, you know they got some questions coming in, and they may have some answers for it, and they're certainly not going to lay down. Um Ben Roethlisberger is going to be able to get some things done. He throws the ball to well, even at this advanced age, and and I know that at the start of this season, you can expect his arm to be fresh. And they've got some guys so they're going to have a really good plan. Matt candidate is a big unknown that play caller offensive coordinator for the Steelers. The Bills admitted they they don't know much about what he's going to be like as a play caller, so There is a lot of more a big margin of error. For Knowing exactly what you're going to be able to get away with as a Buffalo Bills team. Uh, certainly There is some of that as the Steelers as well. But Um You know, this week? One man what? Nobody knows what they're looking at yet. So we'll see. We'll see. Jack believes the matchup that will determine victory for the Bills is other. It's Alan against the Steelers. Secondary. Yes, the line will need to help keep him clean, and Fitzpatrick is a stud back there. He's talking about mink of Fitzpatrick. But by many reports, their corners, especially nickel. Dime is their weakness. Josh will need to identify the zone. I mean, Will be easily could have a big day. I mean, Nicole might be cam sudden who would move from the outside corner inside, and then they bring somebody else on the field. Whether that's Justin Lehner, James Pierre? I don't know. Yes. All that? Yes. But the simple fact matters is it starts with protecting them. The Steelers rush the passer T. J. Watts as good as it gets. They came after Josh big time last year and they got and I said this, and I've Howard. Simon's been filling my timeline. I was on his I said they got we got some guys we got, guys. So did the Steelers. They've got guys that rush the passer. That's if Josh can stay upright and deliver the football on time. The bills have got a chance against anybody. Not just the Steelers, not just the Chiefs, not just the by anybody. They're good. The Steelers will know that that's what they came in here doing last year. They're going to have to get Josh Allen office spot and running around or on the ground. That's what it's going to take to beat the bills. Josh Allen can't deliver the ball on time if he does Manual Sanders, Cole Beasley, Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis. Dawson Knox. Devin Singletary or Zach. Whoever they're going to get open, and Josh will find them. They have got to make sure that Josh Allen cannot deliver the football. Daniel says, Do not take the Steelers for granted. The bills could have easily lost to the Colts last year. You're never as good as people say you are championships are not won on paper. We have a good team. But let's remember that we haven't accomplished the things stay humble and focused. That coach McDermott posing as Daniel. He's not. There's a lot of coaches get all forget all the matchup. Daniel says. Forget all the matchups. Listen to me. Uh, yeah, Coach Speak in there. Sure. Yeah, he's he may have his own team in in a helmet sometimes. Yes, you're right. He may be coaching At some level of football. He's right. But He can say that to us. Sean McDermott doesn't need to hear it. Neither is anybody else over there. They know they're watching the film of the Steelers, and they got a lot of respect for those guys, Herb says..

"Away. They invest the third round pick in the Kendrick at tender Green, who I think is going to be a good player, but to bring it all back to the original question. He's going to struggle at time. Their line is going to struggle. At times. This team is going to struggle at times because they're in the process of rebuilding. They're not going to tell you that that's what it is. I mean, you have Um, the way it looks right now, you're gonna have to rookies starting in your offense flying in a rookie tight at. I mean, I don't know how to find that they needed to find guys that can play those positions. And to me, rookie means struggle. Not every game, but they're going to get Beaten on scheme. They're going to get beaten on matchup because they have players who don't have, uh, you know, and they'll gain it as they go, but they don't have NFL experience going into week one, so their ability to kind of transition to the NFL is going to be critical to their success. But that's not going to happen every game on defense T. J Watt make of that. Fitzpatrick Cam Heyward. They're all back. But but Dupri, Mike Hilton and Steve Nelson or not, That's the three terrific players coming back. But three big hits off that defense that has always seemed to me found a way to carry struggling offense. So how big a hit, is it? Um, I think it's some more than others. I think, but do three. Um, but with a good player. I think they got pretty good performance out of Dan Rookie Al tied to play his position. Last season. They kind of have an idea of what they are without, but in that lineup in but but a good player. I mean, you can't take that away from him. He was definitely a value to that team. That's why they gave him a franchise tag. They really wanted to keep that unit together. Make one more running things in my opinion, anyway, before they had to kind of rebuild again. There's that concept. Um, they weren't going to bring Dupri back again. And they didn't. I think Highsmith is a pretty good player. I think he's young. No, he's got some work you need to do. But that's also probably why they signed Melvin Ingram. Um somebody that can chip in here and Eric can also be used as kind of a weapon along that front seven. You're going to see him and coming from different spots on the line. You'll see him as as the traditional outside linebacker that the Steelers defense would have. You'll see him coming over the age gaps as well. So they're going to build differently than what they were not an issue of replacement. It's an issue of figuring out who they are. Without these players. I think what we're seeing now, though. Um, it's going to be interesting without Mike Hilton there. I'm not sure how they're going to handle the flock Cornerback position. They had eyes on the second year safety Antoine Brooks to help out without a bit that the Maryland graduate, uh he didn't get a whole lot of time last year, but I really like the way he looked in preseason, but he got hurt. He's on injured reserve. So, uh, they they're looking for answers. I don't know if they have a step one at that position. You're going to see that the veteran free agent signing our thermal at play in that position. I think you're going to see. Can Sutton moved from the outside inside and come down with James Pierre coming into play on the outside? They have multiple options. Wolf remains to be seen. How good how effective Those options are going to be a lot of question marks on that side of ball for sure. We know what the stats say. We've seen him play at least twice this season here in Cincinnati. But what in your opinion? What does my kilt and bring to this team? Mike Hilton is, in my opinion. He is an excellent Inside kind of non traditional defensive back. They they used him in a very non traditional way. He can cover guys down the scene, which is not, you know, all that typical of a cornerback playing inside. It's pretty tough to take on the bigger guys. And what's a pretty tough route to defend? Um Hilton in particular is not a very big guy, so he plays much bigger than he is, but I think it's highest in death is he can he can defend the run? He does defend Iranian willing To step up and take on the run game and you can get after the quarterback. They blitzed him a lot. I'm not sure how many quarterbacks block quarterback lift as often as Hilton did, but he had great success with it. Um it was an effective weapon that they could use, but I don't want to undermine his ability as a cover guy. Um, he's a quality player. I really think the Steelers wanted to keep him. Um, it's interesting. I mean, in a pandemic year with the salary cap getting cut the way that it did routine. Probably, you know, many of them losing money last season. I'm not sure. Uh, I'm not sure the market was accurate for Hilton. I felt like he could get a bit more than he did. But flock cornerbacks just Also this. They don't seem to go for all that much money, so I'm not entirely sure I would have thought What Cincinnati signed him for was money. Pittsburgh would have been willing to investigate him. Um, I'm not sure what happened there to be honest with you, but I think Cincinnati definitely gains from that. He was a good player. I don't know. A whole lot of defensive coaches would not be upset to have my kill bomber after Any player any sport any team. One of the guys they never bet against his Roethlisberger. Now he's 38. This is from all indications. His last roundup sounds like it is, unless something bizarre happens, but it sounds like it's his last Roundup. Um, with the offensive line problems that you just outlined with the running game that last year was not good with the defense that did take some hits. How much should we expect out of him? Because he is Robocop. Just what do you think he's going down? He's bringing back up. What are the expectations realistically for Roethlisberger this season After me, Um Here's one thing..

James Pierre Steve Nelson T. J Watt Mike Hilton Melvin Ingram Cincinnati Antoine Brooks Dupri Eric Pittsburgh Fitzpatrick Dan Rookie Al Hilton Steelers 38 last year Robocop Highsmith Sutton third round

"Pittsburgh is just funded Cleveland takeover of the 10. They scored 28 points in the first quarter, the most ever scored in the first quarter playoff game since the merger. That's amazing. That was before I was born. I was about nine years after hours. That's a long time. A long time ago shop in the backfield hayfield with three tight ends under center, 1st and 10 from his 10. Hands off Chuck tried to go for the center was drilled in the line of scrimmage hit by Williams hit by Alex Highsmith. There's no gain on the play. Job remains the 12th 10 for the Brown. Yeah, really Nice play by the rookie. Now it's Highsmith came in because but debris lost for the season.
