"Standoff, I think is gonna go on for a while because business is obviously business and they have been talking. That's one side of it. But it appears that this from the outside looking in that this is personal, in some sense. That adds an added layer to whether it's gonna get settled or not. If they do get Aaron Rodgers going to Denver is James Palmer's here with us from the NFL network. You called them a legit Super Bowl contender. Would you even pick them to win the division? Or do you still rock and roll with no homes in the Chiefs? Yeah, it's it's funny. You go like, how would I ever pick against my rights? It was like going into that Super Bowl. I remember being there and everybody's talking. I mean, I've got a text Willie McGinest and he's like who you got, and I'm like. How do I pick against my homes? And then the next text I sent him was. How do I pick against your boy? Brady like there's just certain guys were like, how do I pick against him? Well, it's like, how do you think against Roger's like? I mean in what he's able to do, I do think The weapon. I mean, they're Tyree killing Travis. Kelsey are just you know they're here. Aaron Rodgers, with all the weapons I listed is kind of right there. And I would say the defense is better in Denver specifically with the way Vic Fangio coach's defense is his scheme is now starting to spread throughout the NFL. I don't know if people really noticing that right it causes if you talk to some of the best offensive minds and football, it causes them fits with Vic Fangio does. So I do think the defense is better. My home's in entire e kill, and Travis Kelsey with the new offensive line they put together I love the way they've just been like, I don't care about picks Brett Features like now we're going after it every year, and we'll see how far they could push this down the line. But I think I'd still put the chief's ahead just because it's a new guy coming in, even though that new guy is Aaron Rodgers. Is George paid in right now? Is he calling the Packers every day? Or is it kind of all right, Let's wait until June 1st where If they are going to trade him financially, it's easier for the Packers to do so. I think everybody around the league. Zach knows right now. It's kind of like nothing's gonna happen in the immediate future. I know that the Broncos are like I said they're comfortable with where they are a quarterback. I think if they felt desperate, maybe they call regularly. But I do think George has shown in the short time He's been there general manager and I think I'm not alone in this. I think enough people around the league think he's done a bang up job. And nobody really is surprised by that, As the last decade people have been trying to get him to be a general manager is his patients. You know, he waited, you know, with the cream Jackson. I'm talking about smaller deals, but this kind of just shows his patients. He lets cream Jackson leave and comes back for half the price. He waits out on the Kyle Fuller situation set of trading for him and brings him in. He waits to see the pass rusher market before he figures out what he wants to do with picking up on Miller's option. I think he has been a patient general manager that trust his gut, and I think he's gonna kind of wait this And knows this might be a long haul slow play situation, and I think he's going to kind of use his patients. In that sense. We all know it's a guessing game. Right now. Everyone's guessing you obviously have more information than most is. We're talking to James Palmer from the NFL network right now. If you had to give me a percentage that Rogers is somewhere other than Green Bay come week, one of the 2021 season where that's Denver somewhere else. What would that number Bay I think it's well below 50%. I'm trying to think I wouldn't mind almost put it at like 30% 20% is somewhere else. Just because a diff besides air talking to get something done, that means they're at least Communicating, right? I think that is some some what gives it hope of his return. James Jones on our air, who is not just a former teammate of Aaron Rodgers is still a close friend believes it is fixable and salvageable. We know the Packers are trying to do some things. To make up for probably, we all could assume Some situations in terms of communications and handling. Aaron Rodgers in the past probably wasn't up to snuff with a guy that probably deserved a little bit more in terms of how you were handling him and how you're handling this transition, because really, you know, it's all about how you were going to pass the torch. They had to do it one time and it didn't go great. Really right. Erin was George Love. And Brett Farve was there. And so I just think there is still the aspect that you could massage some of these things, and you can make things a little bit different in terms of guaranteed contracts. Money always talks in the sense, but also how you handle the way this goes moving forward. I think also, you know, nobody wants me pushed out of the building specifically, if you are the M V P of the league and showing up every day with your replacement sitting next to you. That's not a feeling anybody wants specifically when URAS good is Aaron Rodgers. We've seen really every quarterback not handle this well, and it's been in this situation. I think Aaron does deserve a little bit different treatment, and maybe the Packers could do that. Besides, that is part of this deal. What's your read as we talk something other than Aaron Rodgers with James Palmer from the NFL Network. I know that's what everyone's talking about and the NFL these days, But if it's not Rogers and yes, it's may 11th In the year of 2021. I'm saying this It's Tim Tebow. How I knew it was coming bringing in Tim Tebow. It's team baby Do. I knew it was coming? I knew is gone, so I'll get this. I was in Jacksonville for the week of the draft. I mean, all week, and I was treated wonderfully beside Lawrence. Not throwing a football to you. That was weak on Trevor Lawrence's part. Let me say adult dog him. Don't dog, You know, I may be trouble. Throw me a pass someday. Maybe we talked about it beforehand. I don't know. But anyway, I will say this That afternoon when that broke.

"This upcoming year is going to be a lot of excitement in New England. Now Brady down south in Tampa and incomes Cam Newton as of late off the two injuries that he's had recently. What are the Patriots get in a camp in 2020? I hope you're getting a great camp. I think I think I'm in the majority right of everybody wants to see the Cam Newton that was so dynamic, and I don't know if we'll see that type of guy, but I think we might see somebody pretty close. I hope they're getting Ah, healthy Cam Newton so I could see the part I'm interested in. Which is how does he and Josh McDaniels work on changing what they want to do Offensively? I do think that was one of the underrated aspects of McDaniel's in the New England Patriots. Obviously, it's Tom Brady. But they had different offenses as the years went by, and they adapted to who they had in terms of their talent and still found ways to win football games. And they changed your near and I always respected that about Brady. Respected out about McDaniels, and it's not like he hasn't worked with him before. When he was in Denver. He had Tim Tebow and he ran some of that stuff that Cam's good at running, and so I think that's the exciting part to watch. So from the health standpoint, I hope he's as healthy as possible because I really wanted to see how they figured things about how the mind Kind of put it together. James Palmer. All the best to you and your family. You guys stay safe. Thanks. So much for hopping onboard. Makes you farm on Twitter at James Palmer TV. James, the best brother is talking about you Got it? "We'll hear from Tim Ryan in this speaking of foghorns will I hear from Tim Ryan in this hour he is on the practice field in Youngstown so hear from him in a second that is not the official. Ryan the writing for full father for different different Hey it just it will wait for Tim a a follow up on our day now this is from years ago then we do that we talked about it a little bit yesterday which is the whole concept of football if not every day certainly more often I James Palmer from the NFL network came out with this NFL games the top top six programs of the broadcast week. the topic non NFL program of the week had nine point one million viewers right non football nine point one million viewers was the top program that wasn't football K. nine point one point one million giants at Dallas twenty three point nine million. Green Bay at Chicago twenty two point two million. it's Bergen New England twenty two point two billion by the way NFL viewership up five percent overall and what's happening is not only that. now that all the streaming at all the different ways that you can watch the game is up those numbers were way up because that's how people are watching and then what I did was I double checked to make sure I was accurate which is something I often don't do but what the heck they're just further this argument which was the top ten programs of two thousand eighteen. individual program Superbowl was number one number two was state of the union number three was jags patriots number four was Vikings eagles number five was saints Vikings remember this is all programs six jags Steelers seven Panthers saints eight Redskins cowboys nine the wedding of prince Harry and Meghan Markle watch tomorrow and number ten one and number ten was the national championship but was the it was cleansers and Alabama Alabama was ten so look AT the ten eight seven of the ten but the other one was the national championship in college and you have that you had to have the royal wedding and the two thousand eighteen state of the union so now say the union and the royal wedding or I'm all right channels exactly so the point is that every single network and see and and and you know I mean it there I like how many changes so that's that's deceiving and again as the the royal wedding right so there was no regular program they beat football in two thousand eighteen and in the first week again nine million was the top non football program and all of the the giants Dallas Green Bay Chicago Pittsburgh in New England easily and more than doubled all double that nine point one million so the point is as we talked about yesterday I look maybe there would be a burn out factor but football rules Stevie. okay the games that you cited you know Green Bay Chicago as the season opener and we say that was a Thursday night game right pitch Ricky knowing what is a Sunday night yeah and the giants at Dallas is the you know Joe Buck Troy Aikman yeah I can rant on fox games that's the big window has got Dallas in it so what I'd be interested in seeing. I just overall the bottom line is the the television ratings in the NFL for the first time ever in my lifetime certainly but really I think going back to you know what is the first time that football surpassed baseball as America's most watched sport. Alfa baseball is America's pastime footballs America's passion was nineteen sixty five right when Jim Brown retired was the first time and the NFL ratings have gone up up up up up up up every year until. the last couple years they they gone down and I think last year they were flat they were down in sixteen and seventeen so the question would be you know how to the New Orleans game fare against Houston part of the raider game fare against Denver on Monday night and just overall as we compare rate I mean what I look look at his art as the NFL ratings up right now are the up or down even when they've been down you know the people elect Bob Kraft other TV committed the owners they they they site yeah ratings are down and they were down now for two years in a row because it's fragmented so much well that was dad how people are walking out but I think there's ways where they can quantify you know where you're watching and you know in the it will and how many people are watching red zone I watch red zone they have numbers for all that but the the bottom line is what we're site it's okay our numbers may have been down in sixteen and seventeen and I think eighteen they were flat I'm not sure but we're still way better than anything else we're still the most watched need of programming on television any anything not you know not just sports anything you're watching on television we're number one but what I want to see is is is the league retain a bounce back from trump and you know and Capper neck take it any and everything else and see what I've got an angry with it or not it drove people away and they were the ratings did go down and seventeen and eighteen and so what you know are are they where they gonna be in nineteen compared to sixteen there were they gonna be in nineteen compared to seventeen and eighteen I think is what we're all looking at yeah well I look at the I guess I guess the point is is I'm not necessarily advocating your idea from years ago not even know if you are anymore of every day but I would say this that even if you took those numbers again did you say nine point one million was the most watched non NFL program of the week we're talking about numbers that are twenty two to twenty four million in viewership and like you said it's a Sunday night game is at the. as in a game so exactly and it's the opener on Thursday in this case to but let it look let's just say it's half even even at half those ratings it's still the top rated program on TV and I'm not saying that on a yeah that they're either wouldn't be a burn out factor of it because it's like you and I've talked about this when you and I were growing up yet many that baseball you look you had to watch this stuff when you could watch it because if that was the only time now is we're over saturated have baseball ever sing and I need time we wanted so the number sometimes will fall but even if you say let's say double header on Monday maybe a play on Tuesday so maybe it's Monday Tuesday Thursday Sunday you can watch more games you can sell more advertising there's a way to make money off it I'm simply saying that why not make a double header on Monday every single Monday and maybe one out at a Tuesday because I just think that if maybe oversaturated it's too much but I think there is room to add more. a a believe me I know on you know you talked about this years ago I think the key thing is wears a trending and then you know the CBA is up. Hey look at everything and I I I don't know one is no one is proposing this to be done it's just you and I because you want to watch all two hundred fifty six games with autumn all of overlapping but the reality is they're not they're not thinking that way and I think the concern is. the NFL has America hypnotized on Sunday yeah when you go to some of these these communities in the bay area we got other things to do over the for that isn't writers are gonna we stop and watch but maybe you could shoot a cannon ball down the street to Green Bay Sunday and you would have a soul. in Cleveland and I've buffalo I mean it stops there he said of the traffic light there's like toys what happened here the Duke you're Bob go off it's not like I'm out about a subject I know but I know I mean it's just everything stops if you start to get into. like for instance the mangled and in Cincinnati it's not as popular but and they you know they they if they have to compete Cincinnati's down there some cities that are down but you know it's like you know the Packer game is it's on Sunday you know it's part of the roof you know religion there you know it's just Sunday we're watching the Packers are known or watching of its three maybe we'll see about Sunday night or Monday night but a you know we gotta start playing these games at it Tuesday at seven thirty that's weird no I think I think teams I think cities will adjust and they will become I think you're still at your party and you know Wednesday it it at five o'clock or eight o'clock I think the issue would be the west coast audience and losing the east coast if you know at that I'll be interested to see like for instance then the for the the the Texans St game was raging who was a ranger that second half was on fire so what what how did that game rage differently then the raiders Broncos game that kicked off you know past ten o'clock on the east coast right so did the earlier game do double the ratings maybe but to your point what you're looking at your compared against the other shows on TV and your helmet when you're when you're looking at is what how many I've also say we play the raiders Broncos game in Oakland at one OO five on Sunday. it we're gonna broadcasted to Oakland in Denver's got a vast audience not just Colorado you know they love the the Broncos for several hundred miles but it's not going to be what percentage of the country where at that game what we're what we're saying is a hundred percent of the country we'll get everything he did say just doesn't make sense but it's kinda like the small restaurant where nobody goes there anymore because it's too popular you can't get a table there in the French laundry I can't go there it's gonna take two years to get a table there and it creates demand it all of a sudden you know there's there's a hundred French laundries all over in northern California do you lose something there you know there's a there's a tradeoff supplying to manage the bin of basis of a wooden I'm excited yeah but it would change the the I I think it would fundamentally change the way football is viewed and we would love it because we clear the deck but you know can you really for instance let let eighty there's your chest you know your your your laboratory let's just see what the numbers are. for Tampa Bay and Carolina on Thursday. that's gonna be telling is the bay area get a stop at five o'clock Thursday to watch Tampa Bay against Carolina I think this is a good number but you're right if because if you're gonna do is I'm saying his role this thing out slowly and donate oversaturated a first well and if it's a double Monday night or like you said a lot of the country's not gonna watch but a lot of the country is to put this in perspective even more about two hundred million people watched NFL football two hundred million people watch football week one there are three hundred and twenty seven million people in the country so more than fifty percent of the people that's a little that's a big number. just got hurt again I just saw that.

"Five two one two four CBS lines are jammed if you want to get in we will take some more phone calls here just a second James Palmer NFL network has a couple of weeks you just put up on the interlock a friend of the show James Palmer spin on with us here before on CBS sports radio he tweeted Dan Marino in Andrew luck of the only two quarterbacks to top twenty thousand passing yards and a hundred and seventy plus passing touchdowns in their first six seasons played obviously Andrew luck drafted in two thousand twelve and retiring following twenty eighteen that's seven seasons would of course he missed the entire twenty seventeen season so I'm assuming that that that that that's factored into this whole thing but I the message being that interlock was absolutely a hall of fame trajectory you know the big question with Andrew luck I don't think other than health and if it turns out his desire to play football which is purely with respect to the product he was putting the resume he was assembling the bigger question other than health was going to be what kind of teams was gonna plan going forward not what kind of numbers was he gonna put up he was gonna put up numbers he put up numbers last year coming back from that injury the question would be is he gonna is you go is he going to be maybe like Marino where marinas in the hall of fame just on the sheer force of the numbers because marina didn't plan many great football teams played in one Superbowl for Miami and they got their heads handed to him look at not been to a Super Bowl he did take the colts to an AFC title game in twenty fourteen but he's retiring from a team that had assembled a pretty good roster around him maybe not one of the best rosters in the league maybe not to the level of the rams you know the patriots year in and year out saints chiefs but that next cut below is about where they were so he's walking away from a team where I think most people thought the colts would win a Superbowl sometime in the next five years I saw an article recently I think it was on Monday morning quarterback on as I got com where they had ten other writers pick the teams are going to win the next five super bowls and of course the chiefs got a total love the eagles got some love the patriots almost by default got some love the colts got a lot of love to in there lot of people thought that the colts will win at least one I think some even have the winning more than one Superbowl the next five years that's out the window now so Andrew luck was putting up numbers in line with Dan Marino pretty good company to be in notable NFL players to retire early this also from James Palmer interlock rob Gronkowski both age twenty nine Calvin Johnson Patrick Willis age thirty Mary Sanders age thirty one those are ones that are in the fairly recent years as Sanders in the nineties Gayle Sayers in Jim Brown a little further back both at age twenty nine yeah we're sitting at home with the most shocking retirement we forget the Gronk retired earlier this offseason I don't think the growing thing came is nearly the shock not even close to the shock commander landing everybody Andrew luck was gonna retire last night the only people that knew were the colts brass you knew like a week ago apparently grant had been flirting with retirement for a couple years now interlocked retiring a franchise quarterback who's leaving fifty or sixty million on the table not to mention what his next contract with a look like you were going to hand manager looks Levon fifty sixty million Bucks on the table Jimerson hit the nail on the head I think you may have exaggerated his numbers a little bit when he said it interlocks leaving a half a billion dollars on the table but he's leaving more than just the fifty or sixty left on his current deal he was going to get at least one or two more deals enter located on this until he's thirty five thirty six probably if you were willing to willing to play through the pain he's not and I don't blame him all right let's some let's keep it here in Texas will talk to Jerry to get this segment kicked off your your on CBS sports radio yeah you too Hey I want to touch on a couple of things you've gotten in a lot of great points today but something that yes Hutch don and going to be the I roll question of the day I'm sure with the colts in Jacoby Brissett that is one of the players who starts off really bad of the colts that team that might take a chance on calling camper next and my second question on and I'll hang up and listen after this sure isn't known like the Texans and possibly even the coal they have now lost a superstar quarterback and I we use that term are those two teams how likely would you say would be that they would maybe try to reach out to the cowboys get somebody like the Kelly it because it Indianapolis is the line is as good as you think it is maybe they change their roster yeah I need your ID appreciate the phone calls and I love the outside the box thinking first of all I don't think talk I think Colin Kaepernick's done I don't think he's gonna be back in the week if you want to know the truth and I don't think I'll be back with the colts I'm I Chris Belcher strikes me as a general manager that's not ready for maybe some of the some of the you know the ancillary circus that might come with calling Caperton can I know would probably be temporary need just blend in and whatnot but I that just doesn't feel like a a fit scheme or otherwise as far as Ezekiel Elliott goes to the colts in the Texans you keep in mind these are the two teams that have the most cap space in the NFL right now the Indianapolis Colts in the Houston Texans so these are teams are constantly is our two teams that are constantly looking at the value metric in things right Texans have almost forty million in cap space the colts have way more than that believe it or not I just don't think that either of those teams are going to be about I don't think they're gonna give up draft equity to then pay a running back it just runs completely contrary to the way both of those teams to business well definitely runs contrary to weigh the colts to business I think with the Texans I don't know that we have any idea either going to his this because it on the general manager right now bill o'brien's running things so we don't know how aligned with what Brian games vision of the world was bill o'brien was a bill right is I have no idea you know Brian game was a guy who relied almost solely on the draft he stayed out of the free agency market we'll see what happens next off season I I just don't see that being the case and I don't think the cowboys are ready to move Ezekiel Elliott I think they wanna get a long term deal done with them and have him be the foundation of what they do offense of the for the next four five years all right let's see some let's talk to junior in Texas junior what's going on you're on CBS sports radio Hey John process technical management thank you so I just wanted to give a hundred like a little bit of love honestly I'm hearing a lot of people no crime and I I fight with you a hundred percent you know my my take is that you know you love a good really good quarterback I mean he was he was in the top right and yeah we all have a line that we draw the fan we all get to choose when we believe that we're done dealing with some and if that means leaving half of the billion dollars on the table or five Bucks you know it shows that for whatever his reasons are and I'm frankly a little bit we agree that that the medical staff may have been blowing smoke up his rear making him believe that he may have been a little bit better off than he was and and I just put in a compromise situation of you know trying to be back and and never really been a hundred percent and and that that's why I think you know people need to just lay off a you know he may not have produced the Superbowl that you wanted ME two or whatever the case may be but I feel like he he was a really good quarterback and probably could have been one of the great that he was able to push through it but you know he wasn't and you know unfortunately that's just the way it fell out for yeah I think people need to lay off I under like a little bit you know the blues are really kind of be yes and my opinion I don't believe he did anything in his career that he didn't come back from that that that deserve that kind of treatment for sure yeah absolutely junior I appreciate the phone call yeah that I would ask you call for him doing like what any injury looks body of work other than him leaving you last night warrants you brewing him right in the one thing the guy's walking off the field and he was somebody who embarrassed the organization Andrew luck was a model citizen I'm sure a fixture in the community in Indianapolis he said in his press conference India's home for him the medical staff thing is interesting because I think I think a distinction needs to be drawn between what the cold share publicly with everybody and what the medical staff is telling Andrew luck I say that because in to look at his press conference was effusive in his praise of the medical staff with the Indianapolis Colts now I don't know if maybe his praise was directed at specific parts that he thought did a great job and that maybe he left some people out that I don't know about I'm not in Indianapolis so I don't know the construct of the organization but he mentioned the medical staff when he was thanking people in his press conference last night which leads me to believe that he thinks they did a good job with him but his body stop cooperating medical staff can control the punishment you're taking I think where the frustration is medically for a lot of people with the colts is they continue to paint this rosy picture when you have a shoulder injury of all no problem now that is a good point the colts originally with that shoulder injury recommended rehab and then just physical therapy for it as opposed to surgery so that's a good point so maybe you know maybe ultimately when it turned out he needed surgery you know who knows how much more damage he did by playing a season with that shoulder in twenty sixteen who knows only Andrew luck knows that he's the one who's inside his body and knows what the pain threshold is and what he's feeling but I I to me medically the frustration with the colts is always been I say frustration I mean I don't care one way or another I'm not a colts fan but I would imagine your colts fan then the frustration is that they they lead you they let you want a little bit a few times to make you think whether shoulder wasn't as serious as we thought also the guys missing a season this ankle thing started as a calf became an ankle I know what it is they've they've been kind of nebulous about what exactly the injury is but they continue to paint this rosy picture of all well he's all about his pain threshold and looking to move around in the end zone he threw some warm up passes you know I'm putting a Mike in front of him or say to talk about anything medical is a really slippery slope as it turns out Andrew luck disclosing his press conference last night man this this ankle thing is hurting me right now who knows how long he would have missed with this so I just been banged up and I would imagine when you go when when you're in a job that theoretically should be about eight or nine months your job or your body is just going through the ringer but it turns into a twelve month a year thing because you re having injuries all the time.

"James Palmer who at this point is is Nebraska's offense as James Palmer, the only other scoring threat. They've got is is Glenn watching. And then you look at what he's done on the road the last three games. He scored sixteen. Points total that's their that's their number two scorer at. This point is Glenn Watson. I expect desperation at a Michigan who now has to win every game to have a chance at a piece of that big ten title the numbers too much for me to fade, though, even against Nebraska team that I've I've just feasted on them. It's going to be a lean to Michigan for me. Yeah. I'm on the other side. And this is senior night for Michigan already here. We'll rings fine. Then their last couple of games are going to be on the road for the wolverines. I lean Nebraska. Plus, the twelve as I look at it further might go with the huskers. Imply some may maybe a half unit as far as the overall game a half unit on the I happen to me. It just comes down to this. I don't wanna lay double digits AJ mentioned at the three and eight against the spread lane. Double digits why it's Michigan's off, and it's how can you lay double digits when you're last eleven games? Michigan offensively is only averaging sixty five points per game on offense. I when he struggled a score. I mean, how can you lay it? I get it that you know, Michigan zone this series. I get it. Nebraska's been terrible last eleven games two and nine straight up and against his bread. But again, this time of year of no one wants to bed in Nebraska team. I think they're going to be cheap. I think a lot of people are going to be thinking. Hey bounce back. Michigan bounceback effort. I haven't seen. I've been waiting for a bounceback effort out of their offense for the last ten games. And I mean to me, and maybe this is a little square, but I just after watching that game the day with everything on the line against your archrival. At least. As far as basketball is concerned. I think Michigan state's more reliable than Ohio State football. It's entirely different. But you know, when you're up six in the second half your at home against an injury riddled Michigan state team, and you go in a period of ten minutes and you score four points. I want nothing to do with him lane. Double digits. Yeah. I just I mean that I just be quite Frank. I mean that really ticked me off today. I mean, I haven't been ticked off in a result. I in. I mean, of course, I get ticked off when when your best bets and stuff when but as far as you know, a game like that. I mean, it just I the question as far as what's the long term. I could see a Michigan struggle in the score, you know, in a team's hidden from the outside and even Michigan state's not known overwhelmingly offense, especially with two of their top three scores out. I mean, Michigan state fifty six percent from the field in the first half against his defense. Fifty percent for the game that could be an outlier, but I just. See I saw a lot of defensive effort early in the game. But then in the second half. I I saw Michigan overrun and plays. I mean, Michigan state got a lot of easy buckets. And that second half..

"You know in this round for twenty nineteen where he lands, and you know, these owed seven million dollars by the Broncos. Now the way to find which is set is somebody say the cardinals want him as their backup or something to help us lows, and he gets paid five million dollars in the Broncos own to but he's gonna get seven this year. No matter what I think he's just going to be the most coveted sort of backup quarterback out there. I don't think it's going to be a starting shot for taking the I would agree with that. I. Him back here. Backing up to Shawn Watson in a heartbeat. No doubt about that. James Plummer, NFL NFL network. Joining me on the show before I let you go James quick non Broncos question Antonio Brown, where do you think Antonio Brown winds up? And is there a chance he winds up still playing for the Steelers in twenty nine thousand nine well, my my spot for him because this is a team I fell in love with this year. And he would just be perfect as the colts. I mean, the cold seven nobody has more money than they have. They are built so perfectly everywhere and Andrew lucked throwing to Antonio Brown. I mean him and T Y Hilton. I think would be fantastic wide receivers at one spot. They're lacking. I I just I just love that team. And the way they're built their Super Bowl contender if they landed Tonio Brown. I do think the Niners are definite team. I think the Jags would be a real interesting play. The cardinals would be a spot to in terms of you've got a young quarterback that, you know, looking for a new target that is the legacy of Larry FitzGerald was kinda turning over. Do you go over to him? I think I think the Niners seem to be an interesting one. But at the. The same time. Keep an eye on the raiders all the picks. Jon Gruden has you know, collectively accrued over the last year to see if maybe that's the spot than maybe he did land. But I just I just don't see it happening back in Pittsburgh. I think this is a lot to do with my comment a lot to do with Ben Rothlisberger. And I I also think a lot to do with Antonio Brown. I mean players on the league of told me like that. I've known him. Right. I don't know what the guys do it. Like, I'm not sure what what he's been up to over the last couple of months. I mean, they're kind of beside themselves in a little sense of life. You know, the way he's been acting in the way, it's gone. But I think there's blame to go around to everyone. I think Tim included, but I just don't see him going back to that same situation because of everybody else is going to be back there. James Palmer, you can get an at James Palmer TV on Twitter. "James Palmer of the NFL network. Will will join me, and we'll we'll talk a little bit more about this. Joe flacco trade and things in Denver and all the moving pieces that are potentially in place, including case keenum, I would imagine winding up somewhere else when this is all said and done. So we'll talk about that with James Palmer of the NFL network at the top of the hour. But right now. It's great to be joined by one of the premier handicappers anywhere. You can find his work on pregamEcom on Twitter. You can find him at fezzet sports f I k he is a two time super contest winner in Vegas. Steve fezzet joining me right now on CBS sports radio for his Sunday evening hit with me. Steve what's happening? Checking out the alliance of American football, my first likely bad beat of the year. I San Antonio. And snap and they're giving the game away. Yeah hustle. How's that going so far two weeks in with a brand new football league? How different is that for someone who spends as much time as you do fez handicapping, the NFL, which there are obviously decades worth of background in trends and things like that to work with how have you found handicapping a neophyte league two weeks in? I love the way you describe it as Neo fight. Because no one has any idea what the the winds of these games should be or the total. She saw that week one. When you had a lot of the total in the fifties for awhile. And now we saw these totals coming way down because the offense are behind. The defense is even with the rules help promote scoring, but I will say this Orlando and San Antonio, you got the two best teams playing right now and playing it up, frankly, a pretty high level. Yeah in well. And I heard one of the scores. I think for that game during one of our updates at the top or the bottom of the hour. And I think he goes back to something you and I were talking about last week with a league. That doesn't have conventional PAT's. You gotta go for to every time. I think the update was like San Antonio. And Orlando right now the scores fifteen to eleven what was the last time in NFL. When was the last time Stevie fake an NFL game? Had that score not as a final or anything. But just even inside of a game at a score fifteen to eleven existed. Yeah. Exactly. You got the five in the one year party box in terms of wars in the first quarter and the. Well, I have no chance to win. Right. But in this league you do. Yeah. That's true. I you you know, what it is a better league. I'll say that. It's a better league for party boxes. Let's say let's call it. What it is the alliance of American football. Steve fezzet joining me on CBS sports radio. Let's stick with football for a minute says until we get into some of the basketball topics that we wanna hit been talking this first half hour of the show about the Joe flacco trade to Denver. How does that affect Denver from a handicapping standpoint the acquisition of Joe flacco while I would upgrade Denver not because I'm a Big Joe flacco fan. I've got flacco my twenty four rated quarterback, but he was actually decent last year. And that was more than what case keenum was in Denver, Frank. We had lost confidence in him. And I think they had to do something. Flacco is not the answer. But he is a slight upgrade. So I am curious. This is gonna sound is going to sound crazy because I'm going to say, you know, Joe flacco. When I hear you say twenty-fourth, my reach my first reaction fez is that high because. The if you look at a lot of the stats for flacco from QBR passer rating, and I know it's a handicappers. The all important yards yards per plays a big measurement in the handicapping world side with yards per attempt from quarterbacking standpoint would carry a lot of weight and flacco is at the bottom if not near the bottom in that category since he won the Super Bowl back after the two thousand twelve season. I'm just curious from your standpoint what goes into your quarterback ratings. How do you arrive at twenty for him? Well, I took a look at the fact that as you've mentioned since his Super Bowl year steady decline. However last year there was improvement is QBR stack rank with eight teams in the league. And I think that was a little bit of an aberration. He got. Refocused. When Jackson got drafted and work with us receivers during the off season. So because of that I think he had a little bit better than expected ear even though he ultimately did get wind up getting replaced. But the fact that I had him twenty ninth going into the year, and then he finished eighteenth. I kind of split the difference. Put them in front of the rookies for the most part like Mayfield in the like put him twenty four. Okay. So that would mean Lamar Jackson is is right now behind Joe flacco on your quarterback rankings amazingly. Lamar Jackson is tied went. Okay. Okay. Gotcha. Steve fezzet joining me on CBS sports radio where I'm curious where we're the Broncos in your final power rankings at the end of the year, the Broncos free. They were five points worse than average team. I think they're like twenty six but while that was they lost their number one wide receiver trade away their number two. There are so injured by the end of the year and the team kinda had quit on Joseph as well. So the final ratings for the Broncos is not Representative of where I would expect start next year. I think they'll be right around an average team on my power ratings because of the combination of flacco and some other things like a new head coach. And and you would think theoretically some upgrades due to the draft in free agency. And that upgrade of the team whenever I see a team contending for possible playoff bid. Remember, they were six and six and we're talking about hey, they they've turned the corner. And then the injuries melted in the like, so they were playing for the bulk of the year, why can average team, and I can certainly expect that. That's going to be where they're going to start next year. I let's shift gears and talk a little NBA. Let's start with the all star game tonight says any any particular trends or nuggets, especially now that we're in year two of this sort of meal playground drafts kind of style all-star game. What what did you see last season in that style of game that has that you're applying and you've seen the market apply to this year's game? Well, a lot less playground style play because the teams were chosen because they were chosen thinking about a year and gym class. And you don't get picked to play. And you bring a chip on your shoulder and you play harder. And I think there was some of that going on last year we had seen an average number of points scored the two years before right around and like three hundred sixty points, and we only saw two hundred ninety three points last year. And I think that that makes sense I expect all star games to be much lower scoring. However last year the three point shooting was horrific. It was only a twenty nine percent. I would expect the teams would be more like thirty five percent. In three point shooting. And if they do that, I would expect there to be about three hundred fourteen points, and guess what that's about what the total is right now. So I agree with the current number. Have there been big swings in the total this week big time? So to open three hundred twenty seven frankly way, too, I with the new format of picking team back and forth. Hammered it under and then the followers hammered it under. And I really think what happened is it got down to his lowest three ten and then everyone watches the world versus US while everyone watched it, but they saw the final score and that game sailed over three hundred points, and I think everyone reacted to. Oh, that's right. Most of these all star games sail over and so we saw a lot of pressure. And they've bet the total backup from that three ten to three fifteen. What do you make of the side in this game? I would think the total feels like something that's a little easier to handicapped than aside in a game like this. Yes. And what happened basically is that LeBron has the better team. But six points is an awful lot in an exhibition. Basketball game. The pros took the plus six and a better bet it all the way down to four and a half. I agree with the move. But if he didn't get it early on. I don't think I would chase it and play pause for now any any particular players in this game or props in this game that you've looked at the that that make you light up a little bit. You know, I gotta be honest. Normally, I would have propped bats, and I would have been working hard on the all star game because the alliance of American football started. I just can't get spreadsheet thin. So I've spent my time watching football here today instead of working on props even for the great see fezzet. There's only twenty four hours in a day kids. That's the lesson right there at fez exports on Twitter. Fez, a couple more things before I let you go NBA related. You texted me a factoid before we went on the air here that that I think it matches the eye test, which is since that trade demand by Anthony Davis. The pelicans seem to like playing without Davis a lot more than they like playing with Davis expand upon that. Yeah. So after Davis demanded the trade he was injured and team was playing without him. And they covered five straight games. Davis comes back and team doesn't play any better. If anything they play a little bit worse. They lose three straight times against the spread. And then of course, it was the game against Oklahoma City were Davis went out at halftime and his team played inspired ball, including holiday and beat Oklahoma City. So what I'm seeing from two teams right now. I'm seeing New Orleans playing really well when Davis out and Boston when Kyrie Irving is out they seem to play better without him. So team chemistry issues on both those teams the irony. And that says is I had a New Orleans. I have a New Orleans guy coming on later on in the show. And I know that that just from talking to him privately his views a kyri in Anthony Davis will he thinks they're gonna wind up playing on the same team next year, which is fascinating given the dynamic that you just put out there that basically these two guys are being treated like their own teams right now like there, there's some sort of poison in the locker room. Yeah. They're both great players not necessarily bad going forward. But just looks to be bad situations with their current teams. Yeah. Last thing before I let you go. The I was reading an article today that right now the Lakers making the playoffs. He's actually the underdog that missing the playoffs if you're betting on. Yes. Or no the Lakers and LeBron James making the playoffs. The favourite is missing the playoffs right now. What do you make of that? And what are you? What are your? What are your thoughts? Have you had to? Pick a side on that. Which one would you take going forward? I actually bet. No the Lakers won't make the playoffs. I gotta tell you. When I saw the line open up. I couldn't believe what I saw. It was pick them. I think the Lakers have less than a one third chance to make the playoffs..

"So this is a good opportunity for me. I love the gauge and the temperature on what's going on around the country with topics outside of my locale and wants you to be part of the show. So I give the number off the top here fee to join in on the show and no shortage of things to get into on the show tonight as we have an NBA all star game. It's coming up in about two hours. We've got plenty of football to get into the the off season is is off to a I would say a surprising start with Joe flacco trade last week, which I certainly want to get into with you in the ripple effects of that the Colin Kaepernick, Eric reach settlements on the collusion. Case is another NFL topic. They will dig into we got some good guests along the way full number. If you want to get in eight five five two one two four CBS eight five five two one two four two two seven. If you're a regular listener to the show, you know that I do take phone calls on the show and love to hear from you eight five five two one two four to seven the number to get in. You can hit me on Twitter. Hitter as well. Twitter at Sean Pendergast, SEA N T Pendergast. I guessed up later this hour, Steve fezzet pregamEcom. He is our gambling experts. So believe it or not there are people to gamble on the all star game. Steve will give you a few a few good things to maybe put a Saab buck down on for the NBA all star game tonight. We'll talk about the effects of the Joe flacco trade on the NFL season from handicapping perspective and some other little angles to maybe make you a prophet of a buck or two. In the in the gambling Ralph's? A Steve later this hour in top of the next hour. Speaking of the Joe flacco trade James Palmer of the NFL network. Who's actually based out of Denver, obviously covers the NFL nationally, but close to the Broncos coverage typically when there is a Broncos story at the NFL network is reporting on it is James who is doing that reporting. So we'll talk to him on top of the hour. And what's the gauge which the vibrate? Now on on the Denver Broncos. And particularly John Elway after that trade for Joe flacco and in eighteen or nineteen million dollar a year contract guy who is statistically been literally the worst starting quarterback in football for the last five years. So I think you can see going with that trade but eight five five two one two four two two seventy if you wanna get in off the top. I mentioned the the capper Nick read settlement in the NFL collusion case. And I think that was probably the biggest story on Friday. Is that Eric reading Colin Kaepernick have settled with the NFL on their collusion case. Of course. Eric Reed safety for the Carolina Panthers signed with the Panthers partway through last season. At least hourly it didn't look like had a ton of interest through the off season last year. Is it did take him a while to find a team? And he, of course, Eric read along with Colin Kaepernick, probably the two most publicized of the players who protested or did some sort of demonstration during the national anthem. Read eventually finds a team not only finds a team. But really finds a home as the Panthers wind up giving him a three year twenty one million dollar deal within the last week or so so they like what they saw in Eric Reed. And for good reason. He's still a pretty good football player. Colin Kaepernick is still out of the NFL. And in an interview with CNN capper. Knicks attorney following the settlement late late this past week said on Saturday that he expects Colin Kaepernick will quote absolutely want to play football in the NFL and even went as far as to project the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots. As two of the best landing spots for him. I so there's some stuff to unpack here with Colin Kaepernick. There's also report out there that to play me alliance of American football, which is in week two of its existence. The capper Nick wanted twenty million dollars in a league where the where literally every player makes the same wage seventy or seventy five grand in the first year of their three year two hundred and fifty thousand dollar deals at each player gets. I I don't know if that twenty million dollar rumor is true. It was out there with a number of different reputable sources. Regardless if it were to be true that would certainly illustrates something that I'm about to say, and that is it I will believe the Colin Kaepernick wants to play football. When I see Colin Kaepernick actually, signing with a team and playing football because I think the question still needs to be answered. Colin Kaepernick going to kneel for the national anthem. And is that something is that a road that the NFL still wants to go back down has the fan base cooled off on that TV ratings dropped. Samuel taniwha sleep with the spate of protests led by capper Nick dating back to two thousand sixteen. He's certainly the face of that movement a movement that has by and large subsided the league and the coalition of players who were behind the protests during the national anthem protests of the anthem but a protest during the anthem. The the league and the owners. Had one hundred million dollars that they were going to that they are going to donate to various causes to those players. It was a far far far less of a talking point in two thousand eighteen than it was in two thousand seventeen. I just think at this point. The way it plays out with Colin Kaepernick is going to tell us a lot his martyrdom is a big part of his brand. And I do wonder for Colin Kaepernick brand is it better for him to be playing football having settled a collusion case with the NFL or having the appearance that the NFL despite settling on a collusion case. And we don't know if they settled for eighty dollars or if they settled for eight million dollars. It's confidential. Becali capper Nick has agree or disagree with his stance has created a brand that is certainly created a lot of awareness for different causes. It certainly created a lot of notoriety for himself. He has a contract with Nike, then I doubt he would have just being a mediocre backup quarterback in the NFL Nike did an entire ad campaign on a player who hasn't played football since two thousand sixteen. So I think it's fair to ask just Colin Kaepernick really wanna play football. His attorney needs to say this is attorneys never gonna say Colin doesn't wanna play football your martyrdom continues. If they are keeping something away from you that you want Carolina would be a logical spot, football wise, and let me be clear on my feelings. I don't care one way or another weather Colin Kaepernick plays football. I'm in Houston, Texas, two years ago when capper Nick was out of the game in two thousand seventeen I wrote a piece for the Houston press saying in early October that I wanted the Texans. Signed, Colin Kaepernick. Largely because he's a mobile quarterback would make an ideal backup to Shawn Watson over Brandon Weeden. That's the part. I care about is does he make sense as a football fit for certain teams Carolina. You make great sense there. Eric Reid is there. So they've already shown a willingness to take on whatever PR battle. There might be. And I don't know that there was much of warning Carolina with Eric Reed capper Nick's going to be a different ball of wax. He is the face of that movement more. So than Eric read, even though the two of them had their names on this collusion case. But beyond that, football wise, it makes a lot of sense Cam Newton just he's he has a shoulder injury. That might keep him out. Colin Kaepernick is a logical backup to Cam Newton skill set wise. Playbook wise, his attorney bringing up the New England Patriots is interesting. Because Robert Kraft would seem to be an owner and the patriots would seem to be an organization that would be willing to take the chance on any sort of circus that came along with Colin Kaepernick, if there is a circus. Maybe there's not. But the attorney goes even goes further to say, hey, maybe if it's not the patriots. And it's not Bella check because they seem to be pretty happy with Brian Heuer's their backup. That hey, maybe it's one of the patriots. Former coaches makes a move for capper, Nick. Which could mean only one of three teams the dolphins and Brian floor the lions and Matt Patricia or the Houston Texans and Bill O'Brien, I would be in favor of them signing tapper Nick here in Houston. I think it would make great football. I think he assuming that he's able to shake off rush to be upgraded the backup quarterback position, which is at the end of the day. What I care about the most that the football team wins games. It's not like Colin Kaepernick was out committing domestic violence or something like that. For me. Personally. I'm a guy who likes to stand during the national anthem, but I don't feel that it's something I don't feel strongly enough about it from the standpoint of somebody else not doing it that as long as the locker room is cool with it. And as long as the coaching staff is cool with it. And as long as you think whatever circus comes is going to die down to the point where it's not a distraction can go make your football team better. But I'm their overall. I'm very skeptical of Colin kaepernick's attorney is saying that his client wants to play football. And here are a couple of teams. And by the way, I don't know that it's the best move to be putting actual names of teams out there. Setting an expectation with portions of the fan base that would want Colin Kaepernick that these could be the teams. I don't know. I'm not sure that that's the right chess move to be putting teams out there. The patriots in particular don't feel like a team and Bill Belichick doesn't feel like GM slash coach that wants to be strong armed into doing anything. So intriguing chess moves by capper Knicks representation, but my feeling on Colin Kaepernick in playing in the NFL is that I'll believe it when I see it. And it's not because of the NFL because I think there may be a team or two or more especially now that the collusion cases over it would be inclined to seek capper Nick as a as a viable backup. I do think the league wants to know what his MO is going to be during the anthem. If for no other reason, so they can plan for it. If there's any planning needed. But I think I'm skeptical of him playing in the NFL 'cause I don't know if the guy wants to play football. Eight five five two one two four CBS of you're in an NFL city. Would you take him on your team? I would take on the team here in my city eight five five two one two four two two seven. If you want to get in. All right. So we're often running NBA all star game who knew that. The Lakers would be an underdog when it comes to betting on them making the postseason a team. Lebron James you'll actually get better odds or I should say more favourable a better payout. Betting on them to make the playoffs then to miss if you're you're betting on the missed the playoffs. You gotta risk a bigger amount to win a small amount. That's the favorite right now. And I want to get into this. Joe flacco trade, which I think is just the next step in this really really sad downward spiral for one of the great quarterbacks of all time who's trying to run a football team right now. What would they be saying in Denver of John Elway didn't oversee a Super Bowl champion a few years ago because it's been a mess since Peyton Manning left. We'll get into that next as well..

"And then Watson and Kirkwood also out and you have Pete who has that broken hand injury. So we'll see how that affects the game. What's your first thought on this matchup coming up later today? And how do you see a plan on out? Yeah. You know, I've been I've covered. Wade Phillips a bunch, and I have a feeling he's going to dial up something a little different keep believed in play the first time those teams met, I think that's a huge difference maker, not just the talent. And that sleep has cornerback spot. But I don't know if people know the football guru that he is in terms of knowing things pre snap and helping out the rest of the guys on the defense with the saints. I do think losing rankings is a huge deal. I mean, you talk to guys in that locker room. I've done several saints games this year. I talked to guys in the locker room. How effective Franken's is. And how good he is in the middle. And a lot of those guys we know back don't get enough credit and he hasn't got enough credit for how good he spend the season. So I do think that changes things for sure I think we're gonna see a lot of creativity both ways I just want to see if the addition of C J Anderson in how he was able to last week against the Cowboys wear out the Cowboys early and make things easy on early in the. Second half what they easy easier when you're going against the defense that could be worn down a little bit. And you've got fresh legs and girly. I think the addition of CJ it's kind of changed their dynamic a little bit offensively. So that can be a pounded out. Eat drew Brees off the field. I think everybody wants Monday night again beltway. I mean, wouldn't you? I mean, I obviously see breeze. Go back would be great. But I think Rams chiefs would be the one that I think everybody would be excited to see both those teams kinda I think in a sense passing the torch in a way to these young guys that I think we need to start looking at as the future of the NFL. You could watch them on the NFL network will have all the coverage later today. Pats and cheese. That's James Palmer, James. Thank you as always, my friend. We appreciate it could talk to you. "And then Watson and Kirkwood also out and you have Pete who has that broken hand injury. So we'll see how that affects the game. What's your first thought on this matchup coming up later today? And how do you see a plan on out? Yeah. You know, I I've been I've covered. Wade Phillips a bunch, and I have a feeling he's going to dial up something a little different key to leave like the first time those teams met, I think that's a huge difference maker, not just the talent and size. It's a leap has its cornerback spot. But I don't know if people know the football guru that he is in terms of knowing things pre snap and helping out the rest of the guys on the defense with the saints. I do think losing rankings is a huge deal. I mean, you talked to guys in that locker room. I've done several saints games this year. I talked to guys in the locker room. How effective Franken's is. And how good he is in the middle. And a lot of those guys we know that don't get enough credit and he hasn't got enough credit for how good he's been the season. So I do think that changes thing for sure I think we're going to see a lot of creativity both ways I just wanna see if the addition of C J Anderson and how he was able to last week against the Cowboys wear out the Cowboys early and make things easy on Todd Gurley in the. Second half, easy but easier when you're going against the defense it could be worn down a little bit. And you got fresh legs and girly. I think the addition of CJ it's kinda changed their dynamic a little bit offensively. So if that can be a pounded out drew Brees off the field. Maybe that's where the you know, we we see a different game. So we take care of both previews of the AFC NFC championship game. Now James Palmer from the NFL network. Give me your prediction who's playing in Super Bowl fifty three in Atlanta. I'm gonna go with the one that I think a lot of people want, and I'm gonna say this just as a football fan. I think everybody wants Monday night again beltway. I mean, wouldn't you? I mean, I obviously see and breeze. Go back would be great. But I think Rams chiefs would be the one that I think everybody would be excited to see both those teams kinda I think in a sense passing the torch in a way to these young guys that I think we need to start looking at as the future of the NFL. You can watch them on the NFL network. Love all the coverage later today. Pats and cheese. That's James Palmer, James. Thank you as always, my friend. We appreciate it. To talk to you. "James Palmer from the NFL network will join us sometime throughout the next four hours that we do have with you as we get you set. Football football, football football and more football as the anticipation the build up the hype and all the makings that have been said about championship weekend. Well, it's finally here. Brio five PM eastern later today. Kicked off in New Orleans between the Rams and the saints. And then later this evening at six forty pm eastern. You will have the New England Patriots in eight straight AFC title games. Trying to get back to another Super Bowl which would be their ninth in the Brady ballot. Check era as they look for their six ring as they do battle up against Andy Reid, Patrick, Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. And we've talked about these games yesterday. We've talked about these games when I was filling in for a law and after hours on Friday, and now it's finally here. Now, it's finally time to make a prediction, and no matter what happens for in these games. We will know by the end of today, we will know who's going to hotlanta for Super Bowl fifty three. And it will either be the saints of the Rams and the NFC it'd be the pats of the chiefs in the AFC, and there's so many great story lines that would be associated with either one of those teams winning the NFC AFC title game. If the Rams are able to get done, you have the whizz kid, and Sean McVay, and what he's been able to do in his early thirties change that culture change that franchise and give them new life in LA and also fixed their franchise quarterback. So of the Rams do advance McVay is going to be the big story line at the saints events. You have the two dominant big figures in the saints organization the coach and the quarterback drew Brees. And what that would do for his legacy, which is already an all-time great legacy, but it would enhance it even more if you could get to another Super Bowl, and when and for Sean Payton, and it would do the same. And we all know how important. I Lombardi trophy was that did go to New Orleans and you had an extension of mardi gras. If you could deliver them a second, not only will there be more partying in New Orleans sectors, always partying New Orleans. If you've ever visited, you would know you would enjoy the good food, the good drinks and all the sights and scenes of New Orleans, but they're able to add another championship. Not only would it be celebrated in a big way and in a celebration like usually on C with many other teams that win. But in terms of the legacy. Of both painted and drew Brees would even. Further expand their greatness and take him to a different level because wondering is really special when you have a great career. If you get a second ring, it changes the conversation, then at the chiefs do advance will be Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes, the new face of the league MVP fifty touchdowns all of that. And then. Oh, yeah. By the way, here's Andy Reid. Once again, having another opportunity to win a Super Bowl as he was in this spot many times before in Philadelphia punched or wants could not seal the deal goes to Kansas City had some playoff struggles up against Indianapolis with the big lead last year up against the titans of the big lead and blue both those games. So if Andy does punch through and get to the Super Bowl Super Bowl fifty three he will be one step closer, and what has been a very very very good career, but eliminating that, tag and make a great career and. A no doubt hall of fame career. If he does get that ring. And then you get to the team that's still here. They've been doing it strong since two thousand one that's the New England Patriots. And the patriots are able to get to another Super Bowl. Yes. They understand that their season is either a successor failure. If they win the final game of the year if they wanted it to success if they lose it. It's a failure. But that's the standard that Brady and Belgium have set for the New England Patriots because of their dominance. And there is EMMY went to this argument. The other night you could make the argument that Brady's arguably the greatest quarterback greatest player in NFL history and ballot. Check is arguably the greatest coach in NFL history. And they're still finding a way even when this has not been their best year still be sixty minutes away from a Super Bowl. And then what would be two wins away from getting their six championship together? So you have to win today. And then you have to win in two weeks, but this weekend so much fun because you know, the two games that you're getting you know, the times that they're going to be and you take in the first game. And then you get a little cooling off period and go right to the next game. And then you had that ridiculous by week and all the overblown story lines and all that stuff before you finally get the game week. So I love this week. And this is a whole lot of fun. And I can't wait for these games. Coming up later today between the chiefs and the pats and the Rams and the saints, and it all get started with the Rams and the saints and then the chiefs in the pats. We'll close things off. But when I think of these games, I have five thoughts right away. Number one the patriots run game. It is. So big in what they do now. And if you want to quiet down that crowd in Arrowhead, you have to run the football. And last week they're able to effectively run the football and not only run it, but really involved James white and the short passing game, which is an extension of the Ron, and you have Sony Michelle who has been a rookie this year. He's missed some time. But he's been very effective for this team. And Rex Burkhead doesn't I shop as well. So the pats are so tough to defend on these quick passes, or when they get physical and run the football because of the trio running back, so they do have. So the pats run game is one thought that does come to mind number two. The chiefs offense in these last two matchups between the pats. And the chiefs Kareem hunt has played a big role in it and had stats. We all know Kareem hunt is no longer there. So will the pieces on the offense for the chiefs be enough to get it done? Or will? They finally feel losing hunt. Really coming back to hurt them. Because tyreek hill is dominated the patriots. And you all know that piece gift sign that he threw up in that goes all over the website from the matchup last year to kick off the NFL season. But Travis Kelsey they've done a nice shop containing him like six catches fifty sixty yards. Usually when they play the pats. Nice job up against Travis Kelsey so with no Karimun the game. How much does that hurt them? They've been able to survive with Williams. We know that and winter nice job. But in a game like this. How does not having Karimun there? How does that alternate? And maybe that ends up helping the production of Travis Kelsey. And it's it's you know, they don't have to worry about Kareem hunt anymore. So Kelsey game. He gets better stats, and this went up against the pats hell's going to be a tough problem for the patriots. You'll see what they do for JC Jackson orbits, Ifan Gilmore, and they're going to be some help involved. But you wonder who else is going to step up because you know, what the bread and butter is for the chiefs. It's homes. It's hell and it's Kelsey. But who's that other guy that steps up maybe at Sammy Watkins thought number three all the quarterback play in these two games? Coming up later today. With mahomes. It's all about protecting the football. How we extend the plays his efficiency on critical and crucial spots in the game where he's been phenomenal. With for the most part this year, fifty touchdowns league MVP and the one knock you could have on him in some of these tough games. They've had this year when they've lost. He's turned over the football with interceptions and fumbles. But Mahomes at the patriots won have success. And you're not gonna be able to stop him. But you're gonna have to get some turnovers able to get to the last time, and you're gonna have to stay in your lane and be patient with Tom Brady. It's all about the quick pass as we know the chiefs are gonna wanna put Brady on his, but you have to get those quick passes. And that's something Brady can usually find success with when it's going to edleman when it's going to James white and so on and so on with the patriot weapons then we get to the NFC title game with the quarterbacks Jared Goff. My question is can he get it done? If they slow down the wrong game of girly Anderson. It's not as effective as the Rams wanted to be can golf win them the game, especially with not looking as sharp as ably. And then we're drew Brees. We all know how tough breezes in that building. And we all know how explosive that connection is with Michael Thomas and other Michael Thomas. They don't have that many great weapons in. In the passing game out of receivers. But breeze just finds a way to get it done and obviously Ingram and Camara can help as well. So those are the first three thoughts the pats run game. How Kansas City looks out Kareem hunt up against the England. Where hunt does that a lot of success against them all the quarterback play? And then when I look at the saints, and we mentioned the run game a little bit with the saints defense up against the Rams offense. The Rams are gonna want to run the football. That's no secret. Just they got the patriots on the run the football. You'll know very early the shape of that saints defensive line, and it'll be very telling early how long it will take for them to get over the loss of shelter rankings who packed his achilles last week. And how that's going to affect them. It's a good saints defense. I think they're underrated. But at the end of the day when you lose a player like that you want to see how it affects early on in the game that defensive line that front seven up against a very good Rams offensive line. Anchored by Whitworth, and then the two backs in girly and then C J Anderson. And then finally it's the adjustment game we've seen so far this year. Saints beat the Rams by ten and the pats beat the chiefs on a field goal. Saints rams. It's a rematch in New Orleans once again for the first time pats, she's it's a rematch. But this time in Kansas City. So how did the adjustments from McVay read? Ballot. Check and paid in effect this one and also players that are now available. Michael Thomas is going to get his yards. But he may not get to eleven last time. To keep to leave did not play. And then for the chiefs. They didn't have Justin Houston last time. And that just helps them more in that front and trying to get to Tom Brady. So you wonder how that factors into it as well? And we all know adjustments are you in the National Football League. And both these teams have seen each other before which actually could be beneficial for the Rams because at least it's not the Rams go to New Orleans for the first time as for the pats. Hey, it's it's tough to think that they can't win the game. And that the crowd is going to kill them. But it is a raucous atmosphere out there in Kansas City at our had to place where they'd never had an AFC title game at home at Arrowhead. So the pats have not had the opportunity to go to Kansas City this year they've had in the past. But with Brady and ballot check. Hey, there's no excuses. You gotta get the job done. So with the breakdown with the thoughts on these teams at the chiefs are going to win this game. I really think it's going to be because of the home crowd advantage. And and that defense being different from home in the road. And it's going to be the play Mahomes at the pats when the game it's going to be because they have Brady and Belle chicken. They can run the football at the Rams when the game it's going to be because the run game dominates and the saints to win. It's going to be because they're at home, which you breeze, and that defense we'll do just enough to contain the Ron and they're gonna force Goff to make. A mistake. That's how I look at all what the all these four teams what they have to do to win. It's how we break down the match ups with the big story lines. And now we get to the big question at eight five five two one two four CBS eight five five two hundred forty two twenty seven which is who are you rolling within these two games? And gave number one you like the Rams of saints and a game number two. Do you like the chiefs and the pats? And what do you think the big differences or the big key is for the teams that you're picking the punch their ticket to Super Bowl fifty three in Atlanta? So what are the big differences for the teams that you like and who do.

"Insurance barn game shows MSU wins us on the road in Nebraska, seventy to sixty four biggest lead the game for Michigan state was twelve that was with one fifty lap. And all of a sudden they got within four. It was crazy. But at the end of the day MSU, Wednesday, seventy to sixty four okay ar ram trucks. Parntep defensive performance of the game is well, I kind of want to give it to the back court. But I think at the end of the day Matt mcquade at such a terrific job tonight really made a tough on James Palmer for most of the game. Now granted Palmer finishes with twenty four shot. Twenty one times he was one of six from three. But Matt mcquade just dogged him for fifteen for thirty five minutes of his ball. Ballgame mcquaid a great job on defense. And for the most part his points came when the game was over. Exactly. So there you go. No, forget two thousand nineteen ram fifteen hundred the two thousand nineteen Motor Trend truck of the year. Well, aspirin, Nebraska. They now go to thirteen and five on the season. There are three and four in big ten play in their twenty game. Home winning streak has come to an end, and they will be now playing Monday at Rutgers as we know that's a tough spot to go as from Michigan state. The sixth ranked team in Orlando MSU is now sixteen in two Michigan state has won eleven straight nineteen straight big ten regular season games in all time. Spartan record MSU is four. No in the big ten on the road. Overall record sixteen into and seven and stays in first place in big ten play. Our next game will be Monday. Hold on. Hold on. I'm going to believe this. It's a home game. Wow. Where's that? We got a couple of days and figured out on Monday take on Maryland airtime for that. With the time is a pre game show. We'll be five thirty during this for that back with a final word in just a moment as you are listening to the Fox Sports presentation of MSU basketball. "First loss of the season at home here at the Simon Scott assembly hall. One more shot coming to Langford. Second one out its way. No good rebound comes off to James Palmer. Everybody knows. This means history. Now, you can just feel it in the air. Wall crossed the time line at Palmer will just dribble it over there and you down to by channel the central Indiana Honda dealers and Honda manufacturer give Indiana working together working for you and proud to support athletics. Right now. Indiana is struggling ten seconds left in the shot clock. Palmer drives right comes back left pitches. Kenton fries up a jump shot. That's no good rebound. Taken out of there. The belonged Indiana. Barely touch last. A brass player looked like Romeo plank for was going after it. And he's still having some problems with a leg over there with cramps or what? But he has been walking gingerly here. The last several minutes. Here's devante green right side of the circle. The porn inside dumps it into Justin Smith down low. He fakes turns around puts it up. Mrs are has his shot blocked by a aerobic Roby comes up with the basketball. Well, that's going to do it twenty segments to go, and they'll just dribble o'clock out here. Indiana basketball team will suffer a third straight loss now and this one coming at the assembly hall assignments Scott assembly hall, where they rarely lose. And this year it is for the first time. This is a frustrated Indiana basketball team and Nebraska is celebrating their first road win and coppers play this year as they even their conference ledger at three and three final. Brassica? Sixty six the Anna fifty one of victory for the brash ballclub is in the Atta walks out of here. Disappointed..

"Maybe you've seen them. Maybe you haven't seen them. But let's introduce you to some. And it's crap in my opinion. I'll tell you this right now, I'm gonna bad mood to begin. Doc, it's better than a grumpy square. Where's George Jon Morgan and look as as twenty-five long way finished or are you gonna come in here? And not let me finish. Let me finish. I look and I see Jordan Murphy on it. Hey, how about you win a game? Jordan Murphy, come out. She can he do self. So what win a game has every college coach, and I've talked to and said James Palmer James how about winning the game? How about where the game fellas? Jon Morgan, if you're gonna put Langford on there, then you should put you on Morgan ahead Lankford because you on Morgan has been better than Langford on both ends of the cord all year long. He's come a big in big spots and the guys coming in from the big ten none of them. None of other than Carson Edwards. Iggy maybe deserve to be on this list at one or cash. Winston absolutely catches Winstons the first team all American and he's by preseason player of the year. And I won't change that for anything. But I'm just telling you win a freaking game. These guys in the big ten is supposed to be so good. And then I look and they don't ever win a game. The winner doesn't have to come from this list. Old people. I think until the final eight right coach before he was finally put on that list. So the Winterton come from outside. So it's just a discussion point that were have trae Joneses. And on the list, can you put three players from one team on the list because trade Jones one of the top twenty five players in the country. The ways plan he's one of the top twenty five most important players in the country. I mean like there's a distinction. I love trae Jones. I love Xavier Simpson. I love Jordan bone. I love those guys really important to their teams. All right. So what is the wooden ward signify? Besides having to have a certain GPA and all that other stuff that they could good on in the classroom, all that stuff. And you gotta have Sam Gilbert around and his drink. I mean, I mean that sounds good. And I'm a big trade. I think he's important for the team. But I mean, I don't think he should be on that list. Seth here's what I would say. This is why I told you specifically who when you add somebody if you say trae Jones is supposed to be on. Then you gotta take somebody off. Right. I mean, that's kind of how it works. And that's why I say what I said about Jon Morgan that I would put him on and take people. I'm not sure I wouldn't put trae Jones on there. I'm not sure that I would I don't know. But I know this those two guys that are on that list for Duke if they weren't on Duke. I'm not sure trae Jones would be carrying Duke like those two guys are kind of carrying Duke. I made no sense right there. But I, but that's where I agree with you. See I think trae Jones is a connector, and he makes the gate look. He's a great defender. I mean that dude can Flatgaard. Yeah. I mean like, you know, Jordan Boca Flatgaard Xavier Simpson. We talk about. Yeah. Michigan all the time. I mean, look, he, you know, he's not as dynamic Jordan, poor and everytime, you shoot you think it's going in. Right. I mean that dude is like ridiculously good. You know Matthews can guard and this guy that, but they wouldn't be as good if you took Xavier Simpson off, but I'll say this..

"Five minute. I'm talking about Monday through Sunday every freaking night. There's good games in college hoops, and that's not meet being promotional guy. That's me last year. All of a sudden realizing wait a second. There's another could get it. College hoops is Goodman, really good this how about Hartford beaten VCD other day. I'd even mentioned that you know, that that's another BC. People think college basket, but you know, what the average attendances at college basketball. Now, but you're gonna tell me between five and six thousand like so BC, you go in there, if you're Hartford who you playing in front of you know, what I mean, it's that place only Tyson place you're playing for your point on f lower hold ice. Nice. Oh nice. And you're planning friends family, right? F R O friends family. All right. Let me give you another one of teams Nebraska. Ooh. I think that again, I picked him as my dark horse in the big ten. I would have picked Minnesota. But I don't like the guard play Nebraska has a starting group as good as any came into big time. Yes. Or no. I'm gonna say. I'm gonna say Michigan's played so well, I think Michigan's number one should be. I don't know if they're the best team, but they should be the number one team in the country. But to your point about Nebraska, here's what I like about Nebraska sat in and I'm not going to say, you're wrong. They got they got guys that are not only capable of doing a lot of things James Palmer and all that. But they got some experience there to Seth Glenn Watson's been there. I think I played against Glenn Watson, he's been there. So damn long they point guard. I I'm not disagreeing with you at all. Now is it NBA talent doesn't matter to me. But no, probably not. I don't know. I mean, hell you see guys make the NBA that you know, you never thought would. And you see guys not make the NBA that you thought would absolutely make the NBA who knows on that. But they have a bunch of guys that can do a lot of different things, and they have experienced I'll say this though. Here's the thing about Nebraska, and I'm not I'm not saying this doesn't happen to teams, but they lost at Minnesota. And they play tonight against Maryland. Those are very similar games. You know, what I mean by that very much? I I like I like Maryland's team. I don't mind Maryland at all. No. But but you got if you're going to like Michigan is winning one of those two games. Let's put it that way. Right. Maybe both the way they're playing this year. So if Nebraska is going to be real, you know, Michigan state probably wins both of those game. If you're going to be real like Erick curry wasn't playing at Minnesota for Minnesota. You got to win that game. Yeah. Grace mission. Minnesota was real in a little bit. I just I I don't trust Minnesota's guard play. I no, No, I I don't don't either. either. But. But when you get my point you can't like I watched that game Nebraska the crowd. God gone Nebraska got affected by it. Well, that I always said was a difference in modern big ten basketball. Michigan state doesn't let the crowd beat them. They may lose because you hit a bunch of threes, but any letting crowd beach, Bo Weinstein weren't letting the crowd beats Michigan not letting the crowd beach, Nebraska, let the crowd beat them and the senior team and upper-class team shouldn't. And there's the one difference between the the big ten in. Yes. Other conferences every single game on every single campus. Yes isn't event. Yes. Craze you go to Mackey. It's an event you go to north western even now with the new facility. It's an event you go you go to Rutgers and Iraq, and they're bad. It's an event and you gotta play well to win. I mean, where like you can go in the ACC can go the SEC, and they're not going to be events everywhere. It's just wait is. Blurred. Is it event though, are you are you all in both feet in you were at Louisville game..
