Dr. Kevin Roberts Describes the Heritage Foundation's Top 3 Priorities

"He is doctor Kevin Roberts. He comes from the Texas public policy foundation with his Sterling record and he is now the big man at heritage, doctor Roberts. Welcome to America first. Seth, thanks for having me. It's a pleasure, my friend. All right, so you bring a very, very strong reputation for being a serious Texan on the issues of conservativism. We are huge fans of Ed fuller, full disclosure. My wife is a director at the heritage foundation. We are close friends with K cost James the outgoing president who is a rockstar been on the show several times. I just want to give you a platform in front of 3 million patriots. You mentioned three or four big priorities for you. I was a strategist in The White House. You can't do strategy unless you prioritize things. You can't fix everything at once. So tell Americans across the country, what heritage is new priorities are under your leadership. Number one, education. And by that, I mean, if we in the conservative movement don't take advantage of the absolute frustration that Americans, including some of whom are apolitical have with the indoctrination in our schools, we've missed the opportunity of a lifetime education number one. Number two, big tech. It is past time as you know from your experience for our institutions starting with the heritage foundation to recognize that big tech is the enemy of the state to name them as such and to develop policy reforms as a result. We have the definitive set of solutions coming out in the next days that will describe that. And thirdly, China. I like you understand the threat that the Soviet Union was to freedom to Americans to people around the world. I'm a son of the 1980s. We have failed as a country to recognize and to name China as the same kind of enemy that the today that the Soviet Union was then inherited is going to be leading

Former Rep. Dave Brat Talks About the Intersection of Free Market and Faith

"Yep. Yep. By the supply curve and the demand curve are both curves that involve human beings who are both fallen. But also made the image of God. The creation story right on the gate were created as co creators with God almighty, made in God's image, just something to think about. But what that means, go YouTube that one. And so we have that creative ability to create jobs and commerce to serve our neighbors, our brothers and our sisters. The hebrews were great business folks. Then the tradition continues with Jesus and the New Testament and the outwork of that. Jesus begins with a band of 12 around him. To go out and preach the gospel to the ends of the earth and in 300 years, the Holy Roman Empire and Constantine Constantine turns emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, the Christian empire. So just shocking turnaround. And so what what people don't get is that tradition that judeo Christian tradition is responsible for our dignity as human beings. There's no other source that you can name the enlightenment project failed terribly on that. Jefferson and et cetera they could never name an alternative source for the dignity that is inherent in us. And so that is what undergirds the free market system. And then we're triply blessed with all that plus James Madison and the constitution and the rule of law and then Adam Smith and free markets, but the irony is you need the law to be a free people. And so the left gets utopian at times and they just say, you know, let's just make it up as we go marks. There's no need for God. There's no need for this rule of law. There's no need for human rights, all these ideas that exist in the air, are fake. No, they're not fake. They're responsible for the greatest civilization on earth. And it's our detriment that we lose those foundational pieces that set up the free market system that now serves us so

Kathie Lee Gifford Explains the Problems With the King James Bible

"To Kathie Lee Gifford. She just threw shade at King James. Yes. You know the King James that persecuted the Puritans that came here for religious freedom. That bum, remember, but we say, oh, King James Bible. Kathie Lee, you were just saying that the King James Bible, which was written by 12 committees that it's got some problems. First of all, the people who were transposing it transcribing it, whatever you want to call it from the original Greek and the original Hebrew, had never been to Israel. And so they had no geopolitical or cultural contrasts. You know, it's context. So they said they said, no, I know there are many things that are in the King James that you read it, and you think this feels like 16 O 5, England. Yes, first of all, Jesus did not speak the king's English. Jesus spoke Aramaic Jesus and he spoke Greek. And probably a little bit more because this was a trading post. The villa Morris, the road of the sea, along the Mediterranean, getting ahead of myself too fast Cathy's too fast. Was a major trade route to the north south and down to Africa and north to turkey, and on Asia. And so lots of people came through there. And now the worst thing is that everybody thinks Jesus was had been a Carpenter. Because that's what it says in the king's name. But he was a tekton, which is different. He was a builder. He was a builder. And back then, the only thing you could build with really build with was stone. Jesus was a stone

It is about the Hunter Biden laptop and the unfortunate disclosures that we find out from mister young mister Biden himself. You know what I like? And again, welcome back. I love the fact that you've got John James of dynasty playing Joe Biden. I like to call him uncle Joe. Some people call him President Biden. But because when I looked at John James, I looked him up recently because he's an older gentleman, of course, he's the right age, but he actually does look a little like Joe Biden. Yeah. And where do you see what we did with him with makeup and the wonderful Serbian makeup artists? I mean, he grew into the role. It was amazing. He just became Joe Biden over the course of making the movie. Even to the extent of walking into a glass door on his way into a restaurant on the weekend when we were making a movie. He said it was his greatest piece of mathematics ever. Yeah, he walked into a glass door and spent Saturday evening in the Serbian ER room. Not a great place to be actually any E or R on a Saturday night anywhere in the world is not a good place to be Serbia. It's got its own challenges. So you just need a few stitches, but that he was taking the Joe Biden the stumbling bumbling Joe Biden rule so seriously walking through a glass door. So that was not part of the movie. "They were seeing use churches or whatever but the the problem is you can criticize all that and you can be absolutely right but then then what then what do you say you know where where are we. Where does it leave us in that. That's when it gets confusing. And that's what fascinated me is. I thought but hitchens and undockings. They just take potshots at all the stuff they don't like but they're logical conclusions. Strike me as obviously preposterous. They they don't they don't really get anywhere they just criticize and they think that's enough. That's all i needed to do. we're going to go to a break Final segment with james lindsay. The book is cynical. Eureka listen talking to james lindsay. The author of cynical theories activist. Scholarship made everything about race gender and identity and james. I was saying that You know you're talking about math but you You know or that. Rare mathematician who can write about ideas. You don't just do. Matthew philosophize about about math ideas When did that start for you. When did you leave. You know pure math. Say i want out. I'm interested in writing about ideas ideas. The interest started before. I got into math so i was that way as a teenager. I wanted to dig into the roots. I wanted to study all the world philosophies and religions and learn what people thought and how ideas developed so that interest was already there. That foundation came with me into mathematics. And then like. I said i left the university after watching this shift towards student retention. I didn't want to be a part of that. I left university in two thousand ten. And i still wanted to engage with ideas though so i still wanted to get involved in to discuss and debate and to right into thinking to read. And so that sorta shift and without having an it's very difficult without having a institutional culture around you to do a subject like math which is really hard. Unique other mathematicians thinking about math around you saying math things around you pointing you in the direction of saying math things around you a guidroz number. No that's more of a physical more. Like i think chevy chef polynomial might apply to this problem in a way that you never thought about before he gives in height. So you What are you doing these days. Since you've left the academy officially what are you doing. I created a company called new discourses. New discourses has a website called new discourses dot com. And what i do. Is i study critical. Theory as far back and in his deep as much as i can and i tried to explain to the world where it came from what it is how it thinks including critical race theory most prominently right now and probably the most adapts for these queer theory gender theory the fat studies. We laughed about earlier. Like where do these things come from. Actually go read the primary sources. And then i understand them and i report on them. That's what i do all day long every day and the fact that you read the primary sources. That's i just wanna take my hat off to you. Because i don't think i get get past the first paragraph without dying the abyss shit. Yeah it is. It is the best. So you're still in tennessee. I still been telling people wanna find you online bingo new discourses dot com or they can follow me on social media at conceptual. James conceptual james So it's your. I mean you publish a journal what it what is what is the new discourses has articles has videos and it has mostly right. Now a podcast. I do podcast. Episodes about as fast as i can. Put out a lot of what i do on it. Lately is read the primary sources while interpret them for you. Like harbor. Marquesses neo-marxism from the sixties. I just read his essays and then this is what he's saying. This is what it means. This is what the words mean. When he says democracy this is what he means communism you it is really kind of funny. I would think that because you're doing this that you would have some kind of a cult following in the academy that there are grad students And and professors and associate professors since his presence around the country. Who are thinking this stuff. But they don't have an outlet or they don't know where to go and i would literally just met one before i came over to the table. Literally one came up to me and was like you know. I'm a grad student. Thank you so so they have to be out there. Because not all grad students are insane or fake woke or whatever it is they they really are reality based and they think. Gosh i've got live in this world so your voice of sanity in reason in the midst of that madness So i would think that you would. You would be increasingly popular over time because there's just a lot of these folks out there so when did you start a new discourses We started in february. Twenty twenty okay. So yeah you guys are pretty new. Yes so i'm just thinking that Folks if you if you know anybody in the so-called academy in the university system Let them know about new. Discourse and about james lindsay. James just a joy to get to meet you. Thank you for what you do and thanks for your time. Very pleased to give me some bad..

"Evidence of the created identity. Did not it appears. Alert of folks at princeton. Good buck princeton. I'm glad that they should be able to figure that shit out. Obvious make you all got like an eight jillion dollar endowment. You can't make two phone calls artists here in europe. Fire your fucking registrar man. James ended up pleading guilty to theft. Who was sentenced to one to five years in prison. A sense which would be a total bummer. Since he had if you'll recall just been accepted at princeton as alexi santana no trouble james simply requested a deferred admission to princeton his mother. You see ailing. European artists was dying in switzerland and he needed to be at her side. Feels like an obvious larceny. Eager to keep their cross country. Cowboys scholar allowed to ferment. Yeah my mom's like at least sick. She's going to be sick for like one to five years. Unless i say good news she might die early for the term deferment. I will be wearing princeton. Orange the whole time to stay ready loyalty tiger so joe served as year and upon his release made his way very happily to his new digs at princeton while the princeton ran for the track team of course but actually sustained an injury fairly early on and being the second time in his college career. Nothing to really get excited about still. He made the best of his time since his backstory made. No fucking citing. Sorry this running. It's none of this process or other sports really. It did make the best use of his time since his backstory made no sense he adopted a studiously aloof and taciturn persona among his classmates neither friendly nor particularly ornery. He was quiet and mysterious and rumors about who he was circulated with. No real help from alexi soon. I love this. Alexi was hosting very exclusive and very private wine and cheese parties in his room not allowing any other men to attend and this earned him. The nickname sexy alexia actually did that too. When i was in college it was drugs and cheese. And i was chung. not women. Were allowed either rule if we wanted to chose not to have them the coke coke i applied in jewish. Oh jeez if you know it's escape. It is staying in the preferred okay. James also didn't feel overly compelled to study well it princeton though we did earn all as in all of his classes taking six or seven at a time any openly mocked and belittled the efforts of those who had already been through college twice before this saying they baby you here at princeton. He wasn't there he said to learn he was only there to find. A wife is mysterious. Demeanour and celebrity backstory earned admission to the ultra elite eating club. The ivy club in short this third college experience and second complete self fabrication was to this point going great. I'm sorry sorry thom. There are college eating clubs the one school sport i would have killed it in. Tell me or you're jewish. This was not available. You go to kosher restaurants if there was one these raw jokes i moved. I'm doing eli. We're josh each saturday. Not that close attacking. Doing persona of somebody who's antisemitic. Like at princeton their mascot comes out for the jewish eating club. He's a big condition boyko my minority mascot guys just let me half the leftover and everyone. Yeah but things were going great until he was again outed his downfall coming from the track again. One of the students who had known him from his brief stint palo alto high was now herself a student at princeton was watching a track meet went to a complete shock. She saw james hoge who she had known. As j huntsman playing chase alexia said just trotting on by. She immediately called her high school track coach. Who called the reporter. Who broke the story from his at the high school who in turn called princeton. Yeah this is also the year. They purged all those people that lied and really didn't find all that volunteer work in high school moving rewarding the sat's princeton was not at all amused. They had been bamboozled and they weren't going to take it lying down so they had. James aka alexi arrested while he was sitting in his geology class. Like the cops in suits just walked up to him seriously in the middle of geology. Three sixteen retinas rights and hurt him out the door. Did they take him to the rock jail geology class so as the rock right diesel johnson. Grow a guy you've got you. He was charged with theft by deception and three counts of forgery. James hogan admitted everything without compunction or remorse saying only that he had wanted to start over without the burdens of his past. Cops are just like. Oh you're just you're just going to confess okay. Well i guess. We don't need a bad cop and mary he can fast. You can just come in by offy. Thing e confessed one of james's professors from princeton. Took pity on james and he visited him several times while he was in jail. This professor believes that james had made a mistake but he hasn't really done anything that egregious. He had been at most careless about the consequences of his actions. When james made bail. This professor james relocate cambridge massachusetts. James took classes at harvard extension school. Eventually james was given a second chance earning a job. Working part time cataloging. The university is collection of precious metals and gems. Sounds like he's going to steal. Those.

"Really specific go ahead is important for the story that princeton tells itself and indeed. The story to princeton tells the world is different when interviewed about who the ideal applicant to princeton. Would be the admissions director. Said huck finn us. Yeah i know. This answer was notable because it revealed at princeton believed at least narrative if not numerically that the ideal candidate for princeton wasn't the clean cut tom sawyer. But rather the ragging yet determined self made man stated so fucking talk fin. They wanted to be the main man. Typical halsell made adult men finn. They wanted to be the institution that accepted the boy who learned about the world floating down the river taking life on its own terms. At least they were selling. Were such about hat. learn about. it's fine it's fine reality. Was that if you actually looked at who they accept it and broke it down. Demographically princeton was admitting a hell of a lot more tom sawyer with trust funds than they were huddled things oh and they also disproportionately favored students from schools and nevada montana and wyoming when they were done filling their legacy spots of course because no shed they could be well assured that those students would be white but would not in fact you by someone from new jersey preferred people who dropped bombs. It wasn't a jew. This is the least surprising part of the story. So by the way you know who else was at princeton in one thousand nine hundred ninety two besides huck fucking fan. Apparently who else was there. Ted cruz where they wanted to prince literally class of ninety two. I just feel like they really need to reread. Huck finn thank you. Thank saying right here. We want crime solving detectives for our law school scout from to kill a mockingbird. She did great right. Who radley better books. James hoge new all of us and so we carefully crafted his new persona alexi. Santana alexi was a self made man from wyoming. He had gone to high school like the fat cat. Kids alexi had grown up living and working on the lazy t ranch in wyoming roaming the thousand miles of open country with his horse. Study enough as sounds like a bunch of made up details in that one sentence there under the stars. Alexi taught himself reading plato by the light of the campfire. Is this real shit. He wrote hours eventually taking up running as a way to pass the time princeton for their part they were primed in every way to believe this story and is bonkers as it. was it. Solve the problem of not having any transcripts james as alexi santana took the sat's and admittedly he scored a fourteen thirty. Wow which is more than high enough to qualify for any school and he sent in his applic- okay but we all cheated on the sat's though right we all did that. No i did not know on either again. Not i also didn't stop confessing to somehow being less likable than you already are. Eli stop you are stopping reporting this to the. Don't you call them so partisan jump at nyu. This is. Why shush princeton jumped all over this application. Everything about the story of alexi santana was everything they need. It here was a student who fit their bullshit story. A student who could act as a token to principles that would allow them to maintain the fiction of their meritocracy. Alexi was swiftly flown to princeton to tour the school and of course meet the running coach. A man named larry. Ellis larry. this is alexi. His dad is a lion and he lives in a war. Anyplace real water. This is him on a horse next to the border okay. Horse should've just done polo polo picture. He yelled marco before. You just do brian going badly. Larry's a little skeptical about the story. Here's some kid from out of nowhere. His father dead is mother. A european artist himself taught not just as an outstanding student with impressive. Sat scores but also self coached as a runner. I mean if this was true this would be one of the most remarkable stories ever told anyone to have a helluva honor and coaching this kid. Okay but self coached as a run. I run around. I'm an auto didactic runner. Nothing now larry. As a senior member of the tracked him to meet with alexi and run with him. Instructing him quote i want you to run his heart as you possibly can every day the entire time. He's here and i want you to come back monday and reports me exactly what you think. Okay coach back. So you know mustard condiment. Alexi could not be beaten reporting back about alexia soon recalled quote. I couldn't crop them. Couldn't really even tire him out. The guys for real and quote impressed by his scores. His story and his running ability brinson accepted alexi santana to its freshman class and offered him extremely generous twenty two thousand dollars scholarship james hogan. Just reinvented himself again. One minor problem soon. After receiving his acceptance letter and scholarship offer james was arrested before inventing the character of alexi santana. James hoge had been working for a time for a bicycle. Builder named dave tash. Dave cash built custom bicycles. When you bought one it was a tash. Tasha's stuff said tash right on it. This will be important. One fine day. Dave arrived at his shop to discover that someone had broken in and stolen about twenty thousand dollars worth of bikes and parts and tools. Since the custom bike market and california was at that time. I guess extremely small and even more competitive dave and the police figure that the robbery had been committed by a rival bike shop owner. Yeah man shady bike shops always trying to paddle stolen goods paddle spelled. It was actually very good. That'll but it wasn't a rival bike shop owner as you might surmise thief was james and he was eventually suspected because he openly use tools. That had the name tash written on the goddamn tools causing someone familiar with the robbery to report him. This led the police to a storage locker. Which when they open it was not only full of all of dave tests shit but also had clearly been someone's home it was james's home i've been inside. He's crazy undecorated. Single guy apartment. I get it okay. It it's decorated. I have chairs for example today. Come with place so it's irrelevant. Whether i have chairs is really decorated. Foles eating as always chair. You could restaurant. There's bag wouldn't say you fold make sense. Wouldn't the word for that stupid doesn't make sense with the locker also contain a bunch of weird shit that made the detective working. The case. curious among the stolen goods and sleeping bag were a series of trophies and dr newspaper clippings all the necessary rudiments. That james have been using to fabricate the backstory for alexi santana and. It was also obvious that james have been using this fake identity apply not just a princeton but also to stanford and brown. The detective will work. The stolen goods case new found the.

"It's like I. Don't be afraid to say you're a certain political like what side you're on or what religion you believe in the end let's let's. Talk about and be ourselves identifies wave we want to exactly in in that not be the the whole total encompassing of you as an individual won't be that one fact about you. You know and You know I think if people just started doing that if people start stopped. Stopped stopping at the first question then maybe we'd have yeah, because it is it's like, Oh, ask that question don't ask that question because you know it's just GonNa lead you to do I Do are we the same We'll see that that's where I'm like I love asking those questions because it does. I. Think you have to be yet to be willing to have the hard conversation is so I, it is hard for a lot of people because it becomes comfortable but I loved the question like what what, where do you stand but I don't care I don't want you to tell me you're a Democrat you're Republican. You're this or that. I don't WanNA label. I WanNa know what you think right and I think it's interesting because even in even because if you take a hundred Democrats you take one hundred Republicans and you you ask them like really crazy like like in-depth questions like we'll tell me tell me what you're worried about on a day to day basis. Not I'm not talking about solving the world's problems on on a political spectrum. Wait on a day-to-day basis what he worry about why we're about paying my rent worry about my kids being safe I, worry about having good quality food for the family whatever it is right they worry about my job you know disappearing these are things that on both sides of the aisles people agree on more often than they don't. So. Anyway. I. Think we were supposed to end and then we didn't. So I'm, GonNa. You you good. Okay. Thanks, this is fun. Love it back..

"But when you have something that is widespread and slow moving which viruses as an example, that type of mentality isn't necessarily the best because this isn't something that you just yell at K. I'll charge for let's and I think that's what we saw a lot of in the beginning where like. Everything Down Right. We have this immediate like everybody's everybody's closed off and then we go. Well, what about like food and Shit? Okay everybody. But the food people are shut down like Walmart you can go to I guess. It was and they had to keep kind of backpedaling and so it's like that's that's the problem. If you only think kind of this in this reactionary way of you know if you don't put any time into thinking through, is this like is this a logical way to approach this situation? Yeah. You know and and so many people they don't. They just don't WanNa take the time to. To put in the thought I think. That to me chiming about responsibility that is a responsibility that every single one of us has that you hardly see. In a day to day situation like if you ask them on what their thoughts on about any relevant topic, how much do you actually know how much did you actually look into this thing that you're so upset about or your so happy about you're so passionate about you don't fucking no. Idea what you're talking about. You know like, isn't it? You don't you feel the the motivation to just be aware. I know it sucks. I know. Sometimes you go onto your. Favorite. newspaper website or your Yahoo Dot com or whatever the fuck and your noise 'cause. It's because you hear a lot of negative shit in your noise but isn't there just out like. That feeling of comfort in being aware that feeling of. Maybe only got one side or maybe this story sucks but I know what the fuck is going on. I do. But I can honestly say that based on the conversations I've had with other people. No that is not a common. It's not at all And what's crazy is like I've had those like. One example that I gave that that that I'll give is I, I asked somebody. In a very honest way because I was like look. You Know I..

"It's not that societal. You're getting your time. Clock is hurry up Y-. Yeah. You better have that baby you'd better by that house. Close. There you've found one keep them exotic. Yeah exactly. It's. It's this idea of you need to embrace this idea of what being an adult is and it is mostly miserable which to me comes right back around to I understand why you feel attacked I, understand why you feel misunderstood. This generate these generations don't understand you and you don't understand us. You know I under I get that I get that it's scary that your children are choosing complete. Instability. Instead of you should've. You should double down on that and kept that the way that we all did. Yeah. Scary. It is scary. Yeah. It's interesting because it's like, where's your value lie and if you value the moment, the part of your life that you're actually guaranteed to have, which is the part you're in. This moment is all you're guaranteed. So you have to make a choice like do I enjoy as many of those moments as I can. Versus do I prepare for some distant future that hopefully will get here when I retire or I can do whatever and I wonder if part of that is tied to religion and if you think about. Again you know generational, a lot of our parents grew up. Much more religious than our generation, right? And the idea, the whole idea behind at least. Like. The Christian Judeo Religion and and this idea that your whole life is just a test for the afterlife rights whether you have a good one or a bad one. All depends on this little test that is life. So there's no value in enjoying life for itself. It's all for the future and see that kind of play into these things that we see in the last several decades where we're destroying our rainforest and we're. Having all these really shortsighted views of things like. Well, that's not GonNa Affect me..

"Disagree NIA now I, don't I don't. I don't know I'm kind of one of those people that gets really affected by words though I will I will be very upfront. Words can change my fucking day because I rely on words and way that I feel like other people don't. I'm the person in I'll talk to myself. I have to get my affirmations every day I have to I'm the same person who's like I'm a bad ass today I'm a bad ass and I'm gonNA. Do a bad ass staying and watch me four and I tell myself that conversation before I do anything that I need to feel validated in or whatever. You know like words mean a lot today I'm going to to find. A really cool exercise jammed gonNA find that one thing that yesterday dim bring me as much joy to the like I rely heavily. So when somebody says something to me that I'm already. I'm already trigger a bull on. Yeah could affect me doesn't matter. It's just it's just be might. Be Conscious of what you're saying why bring somebody else's vibe down weibring somebody else's positively down. We Wanna live in a world where everybody's high everybody's feeling high everybody's high on life right? Why? Why Ruin Somebody's Day? I get that when you're talking about intentional intentionally going out of their way to be mean rap. I get that I agree with that I think that's that's you just being an asshole to inflict. Mental harm on somebody for whatever reason to cause some distress. But I guess what I meant is more this This idea that even. Even beyond that like if I just say a general statement. I'm trying to think of an example light. Statement Yeah like like polarized. Religion for more. Yeah. Yeah. Like the perfect examples what we talked about a previous conversation where we were talking about trump right? Like just the mentioning of the word trout. Instantly, there are certain people who are like just by mentioning the name you've now ruined my day..

"You're dressing in in the nines as it were right like you're dressing to impress. In. So you're dressing in a way that's going to draw attention. Can you really act shocked that you're getting it? I just want to like. Slap wear out abide reach. Like. We can't Roberson. Because the issue and it because it's so frustrating that so many people have that frame of mind. And essentially, all you can say as. An individual in that situation is yet you have to fucking take responsibility for yourself in order to have the comfort you WanNa have which isn't fair. It does fucking suck and two years ago. You asked me this hell no, this is your own responsibility. You should be mindful you're actions. You know if you did anything on towards me, that's on you motherfucker. But now having more time in the real world it's like if I want to go out and feel as comfortable as I can I have to be safe? So my friends and I have this thing that's like Hashtag that's not save in just it's a running joke that we have run ever we. Talk to each other we tell each other story of like. Okay. So the last week listen to the thing that I did and ninety nine percent of the story is not our fault or isn't Ana or is something out of our control even but the running joke is I that's not save. You know like you walked outside at night that's on safe. You know that Joe Mike No matter what you doing it how little of it fell on you? We have to be as we have to hold each other accountable for like as a group of independent females living the lives wanna live. However the fuck we wanna live them. Be As responsible as you can be as independent as you can't be as aware as you can. Be Take. Try as much as you can because you can't trust these not fuckers. Can Cause on this. I don't do shit. We're going to get bleeped out. Maybe, that'd be fun. We start doing bleeps. bleeps. The bleep podcast. I know I I'm a firm believer in the in the first amendment. It would. That's actually interesting because I said this is somebody the other day and they they totally admit it I said something like you know as a joke like, yeah a free speech advocate of don't hurt or something like that and they go. Yeah they go what about this and they give me like a really specific example of something means somebody said to them they're like that should hurt. Yes I'm obviously I'm. Say the them. Wise. Say That thank. Wrong yet you're wrong yet you're angry now i. Know that. But what's wrong? It's that words can hurt. But I think. So here's the difference though. I think words only hurt if you let them. Know like. Zygi if you want to, it's like just stop. Because that's totally in your control. No No. No I don't think I think that there's a level I think certain people are more susceptible to certain things because of their past history. I. Think That's obvious lake. "Hello everyone. Thank you so much for joining me on the second episode of candid conversations with James. Today's guest is a medical student and young lady living in Florida. We talk about everything from the perils of modern dating. How difficult it can be to have a political conversation with family how triggering trump can be, and we even touch on entrepreneurship at high. School. We go all over the place with this, but it's a lot of fun and provides a lot of interesting perspectives. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Not. Tell. Everybody who you are. Okay. Name is cat. You may not call me Catherine. Okay may not call you Catherine and understood what whatever So. I'll just wanted to start a I was telling you a minute ago. We had a conversation with Odell earlier about it was really weird how we don't even remember how we got into it exactly. But we had this conversation about A lot of different places but where it started was his experience with women in clubs dressing a certain way right and then I know I know this, I won't be opinion. I knew it. Raw Yes exactly but you weren't there at the time. So now I have to give you the context that you can tell us why he's wrong. But the idea was that he he's experienced a lot of women that where you approach them or whatever at the club in there dressed up and they're not they're looking at whatever, and then they're like, I don't want to be bothered by you right And in it's so we were we were kind of joking by the riffing in it's like it seems to be a lot of times the the the thing that makes the difference whether or not. This is a welcome advanced or an unwelcome advanced is the look of the guy. Right. So if it's the kind of guy you're looking for then these types of advances are welcomed but if it's not then all of a sudden,.

Whatever <Speech_Male> it is comes through <Speech_Male> life or their spinal <Speech_Male> cord. <Speech_Male> Whether it's <Speech_Male> a cancer <Speech_Male> heart <Speech_Male> whatever it is except <Speech_Male> that adversity <Speech_Male> then <Speech_Male> begin with your ABC's <Speech_Male> be <Speech_Male> begin <Speech_Male> your battle. <Speech_Male> Now here's where <Speech_Male> you get <Speech_Male> as much information <Speech_Male> about what you're going <Speech_Male> through and you <Speech_Male> may have to find <Speech_Male> other people's <Speech_Male> been through it to get <Speech_Male> help it advice from <Speech_Male> them. So now <Speech_Male> began <SpeakerChange> you battle <Speech_Male> then see. <Speech_Male> This conquer <Speech_Male> the challenge. <Speech_Male> So take all <Speech_Male> the information everything <Speech_Male> you've learned <Speech_Male> and mustered <Speech_Male> up gets you street <Speech_Male> going now is <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> conquered a challenge so <Speech_Male> everybody practice <SpeakerChange> your <Silence> ABC's. <Silence> <Advertisement> <Speech_Male> Hey. <Speech_Male> That's awesome. <Speech_Male> I like <Speech_Male> that <Speech_Male> <hes> James <Speech_Male> how. <Speech_Male> Can People reach <Speech_Male> you <SpeakerChange> in <Speech_Male> get a hold of you. <Speech_Male> All right. "I. Tried three times to get up. So. I lifted my head. A cuss when I heard a pop I thought my right collarbone broken and I was one of them was in fact invincible all the time and so this guy here he was jumping up and down he tackled me and whatnot and I said you. Got Tapping you I'll show you because I figured out was left handed and I thought the right collarbone was broken nose left handed. Guy. Left. Handed and so I lift it up and nothing followed. No shoulders in follow the arms. Legs deadly didn't move. So I lay there and tried to Segi time to get up. And then I actually tried a third time thing three's a charm. And three wasn't a charm and I knew instantly I was paralyzed when I was twelve years old. I. Met a named J. JT in a nursing home. My grandfather was nursing on and he was about to two rooms before I got to my grandfather as a day to twelve or fourteen years old I remember going to go visit my grandfather one time and his guy haulers on his pays rooms. Hey, Budka Mir and I go into his room so he can you hold this. Water he hopes Cup of water signed get a drink and he was paralyzed from his neck down. And so his name Jay taste I stopped amid talk to him every now and again but once once I. Realized I was paralyzed instantly. All of a sudden it started thinking in my head is GonNa be ashamed that I'm nineteen years old and I'm going to be in a nursing home and so yeah, it was it was brought to Lifelike. Very. Quick. So. Were you angry at the person in? The, how did you get over that anger? I don't know if I was. Angry at him personally. Like again, I was college for two weeks so. If a guy was to come to me today in handshake me I'd never know it was him. I don't remember anything I don't know his name. The only thing that I remember about six months later I heard from some people than college that he was Kinda bragging about the hit and I hate I hope that's not true. Not that he's bragging but somehow. They brought up my name or something, and he's supposedly made a comment I remember the day when I knocked out of him and I hope that's wrong. that he didn't really. And I think I think he came to the hospital to see me. And the only reason I think it was him was I was Wisconsin striker frame head these boats and screws in my head and had wrote off fed hanging like ten pounds of weight off over to stretch my neck trying to vertebrae back in place. And owned a strike of frame delay. Two hours on your back you get stare at the wall and then they come in, they flip the strike of frame and then you lay an hour on your stomach. So it's helped prevent pressure.

"A Taylor its planes break shot exactly how autobiographical many of his songs are who the Suzanne of fire and rain was and how she died his music might be more confessional in feeling than fact? I mean you could listen to the title track of Sweet Baby James. For most of your life and fully understand the sweetly exhausted deep green and blue emotions it describes without ever knowing that it was an account of James Driving home to North Carolina to meet his nephew his older brother Alex's newborn son also named James her. Maybe that's just me. I mean listen to that song for decades at least once on the very turnpike from stockbridge to Boston that talks about and I definitely understood all the feelings without ever really knowing the story at first American standard seems like something completely different. I mean this is James Taylor singing other people's songs and show tunes hard exactly confessions but look at it this way. American standard is Taylor's first album in five years but hardly his first time playing covers. He's been singing them for a long time. If you don't count his version of the Nineteenth Century Stephen Foster Song Oh Susanna on sweet baby James then you'd have to count his version of Carole. King's you've got a friend on his next album mudslide slim. And then there's his duet with his then wife Carly Simon on Anez and Charlie Fox's Mockingbird in one thousand nine hundred ninety four and his great reworking of the Nineteen Sixty Jimmy Jones. Hit Handyman on. Jt In nineteen seventy seven. I mean he released a whole album called covers in two thousand and eight in the more covers. Ep In two thousand and nine and both of those have a lot of old soul. Aren be and motown songs on them in a way. Those covers our form of autobiography as he explains in break. Shot and talked in depth with me Taylor grew up playing that kind of music alongside his brother. Alex in a band they had called the fabulous corsairs. An American standard tells story in a similar way. These are songs. He grew up hearing. Some were on albums in his parents record collection in North Carolina. Some he heard on family trips to New York City to see Broadway shows a regular of ed organized by his mom. He does a version of Surrey with the fringe on top from Oklahoma on the new album. And it's not even his first time recording a song from Oklahoma more covers starts with a lovely version of. Oh what a beautiful morning has that James Taylor? Trademark Mix of Lucy Finger picking and reserved Bossa.
