You know, a couple of years and obviously it sucks that none of us are able to do that, you know, and you know yourself included. I mean, you know, we don't get to come in and be face to face and you don't get to go out and do your things And I don't get to get out. Do you mind and neither does anybody else. Oh, I'm not Part of it is frustrating, but it's definitely It's definitely unarmed. Definitely something that I never would have imagined happening to the gun right myself. But, um Here we are, You know, I mean, there's nothing really we could do about it. So what's gonna be cool is when you finally do get to tour again, because when you're normally touring you out when you get a hit you add a new song of the set list. But you're gonna be able to add multiple at one time. Your whole set list is gonna be reshaped. By the time you go back out to the interesting way do luckily, play a lot of stuff. You know, we play a lot of album cuts and, you know, unreleased stuff out on the road anyways. And so we try to incorporate those things as much as we can. You know, before they hit the radio, and just if we like playing, and it keeps it interesting for us, you know, it's not the same thing every night, and it keeps us on our toes and feeling fresh and it gets the fans. We have a lot of fans that come tto. You know, multiple shows if one shows closed come to the next night, so we don't always have the experience to be exactly the same every night, either. Well, I don't know how you can listen to the victims in this particular case talk about this. You know what was done to them without feeling horrible about it. And that presumably means that a lot of those people that still support him have not, you know, engaged what a lot of those people have said, I don't know how your humanity wouldn't allow you to see them. Molly for joining us today on cable ex, hey, Charlie. How are you? Good. Good. So your your father did? No. And I think it's fair to say was a friend of President Bush. Yes, actually that became a clearer actually after my father passed away. I didn't realize how close he really was to President Bush. I saw a letter. I still have the letter from the president when he when my father was man of the year in nineteen eighty nine. But after dad died the day after dad died, you know, you're you're making funeral arrangements and making plans, suddenly my brother came running through the house. My mom. Was there? And he said the White House is on the phone and. Obviously that just means one thing that the president is calling you. So I very quietly got on another line. So I could hear what the president had to say to my mother. And after a short time a White House elevator, pardon me, a White House operator dot on the line again and said the president will join you from Air Force One. And my mother said, okay. And then you heard the sound of the airplane, and then you heard him say, Pat, and my mother's name was Patricia. And she he said, I just heard some Bucky his brother who lived in in Saint Louis as well about about, Bob. What happened? I had no idea. He was that sick. And so my mother explained my father's. And don't forget Prescott Bush's. First job was in Saint Louis Prescott. Who the brother the father of the fathers of the president his first job was here? "Good afternoon everybody and welcome to that and fell. This is your host Joe bat, and fouled. So the next hour. We're going to be talking about politics and all the hottest issues of the day have an open and Frank discussion about what's going on in the state in the country. My guest today. We'll be Mary Lou. Dax Lynn she's president of the Massachusetts Republican assemblyman. This is a conservative organization that play a big role in the upcoming elections. They play they already played a big role in the primary elections. And now they're going to be playing even bigger role in the. General elections because the big question is are conservatives going to support Charlie Baker in the general election, or will they sit it out because they're unhappy with him. About close to one hundred thousand people voted against Baker in the Republican primary, which is all big number Baker himself only got about one hundred and seventy five thousand votes. So it was only a sixty four to thirty six percent margin. Scott lively was the nominee running against Baker. Which makes it even more surprising because of his very controversial views about gays, and the holocaust and all kinds of stuff. You know? There's no way Baker should have been held to just sixty four percent. He should've gotten more than that. It's a sign of weakness in conservative organization, the conservative. Wing of the party and Baker needs to mend those fences, or at least try to mend those fences reach out somehow in the next few months, or he could be in trouble in the general election. If conservatives sit it out, that's his base right there, the Republican base. That's it out. That's going to give a big advantage to democrat. So we're going to be talking to Mary Lou Dax lend about that organization. Plays a big role in what's going on? She's she's very much in touch with conservatives in the state and interesting we're going to go over the primary election results as well. And look for look look to the upcoming general to see what we might see in the upcoming general election. Of course, the big star was a on a Presley the democratic congressional seat. Michael Capuano congressional seat. There's no primary. I mean, there's no general election because there's no Republican opponent there. So she is already in. But we have now with us on on the line, Mary Lou Dax lend Massachusetts Republican assembly, Mary Lou, thanks very much. For your baton felt cranky for having me. First of all give me your reaction to the primary results. And what you think was going on there. Baker got sixty four percent, not a real impressive margin. Thirty six percent of the Republican primary voters voted against him. Well, I think. You could see it coming. I still think trolleys going to have a mortgage going into the the gentleman November. I mean, there is definitely a movement across the state to blank Baker November and duly. He's just been voting, you know, again, and again with the Democrats we have eighty three percent of the state rep seats not being challenged by Republican which shows that the party your call about Kylie. It's not about other Republicans elected. So I think again, it goes back to the fact that he did not vote for President Trump. I think that's hitting him in the back, and then the the signing of the best. Which there will be a ballot question to repeal that on the November ballot. And I think that's going to be the nail in his coffin. Because those people that are gonna come out to vote that. Baker because he signed it into law, and it's a safety issue at this point. So there's a lot of reasons why coming out of that primary that Baker doesn't look good. What you've got beat up pretty bad. I mean likely did a great job, you know, beating up was it a protest voters more than vote for Scott lively, because as you know, Scott loudly had some pretty controversial views about things. Entire for years as governor. He needs to go and read it all shake out and like the party restructure itself with good people that want to get Republicans elected instead of coping dagger. Yeah. Scenario the going on for decades. But I mean, if you have a democratic governor, you're going to see tax increases that you wouldn't see under Baker. You're going to see a sanctuary state Bill tasks guaranteed. So there are some big differences that big Baker has at least said that he's against the sanctuary state. He's against tax increases. Although there have been fee increases and basically tax increases since he's been elected. The family medical leave act. But. Still there's gonna be I mean Gonzalez has made clear that he's going to be looking for new revenue. Well, the Baker has raised taxes, and despite the sanctuary states situation, bows, wink. Wink, he endorsed the mayor of warring, which is like the pipeline of the opioids going into New Hampshire and Maine. He endorsed a democrat mayor that that the warring is a sanctuary city. So nobody know conservative that I know of even believe Charlie Baker. If not for a sanctuary state he's playing gained. And if the democrat gets an I'm sure President Trump's gonna take a good look at NASA chooses and say, hey, these these Republicans in Massachusetts, kicked out a governor. That was technically. Four to sanctuary state, and I actually cities I I mean, I think it's a wash it. It's gonna we go through a bumpy road of a democrat administration. But it's all about cleansing the party and getting rid of the stone calls of people really are not Republicans that are running the party, and I hate to use the term line. I'll, but that's what it is. And that's what the NF Ari, call them. I just call them democrat info tickets because I know that gets them a little more angry you're talking to Mary Lou. Dax Lynn the president of Massachusetts Republicans assembly conservative organization, the state how widespread is m where you made your feelings clear how widespread is that is the are those sentiments is this going to translate into thousands of thousands of people blanking flanking the race or voting or voting. Let alone blanking it maybe even voting for Gonzalez. I think it's going to. Translate to more than we think because in two thousand and tech. When Baker ran the first time, I got a phone call from somebody out in the middle section of the state saying we're gonna take Baker down blanket of Bill to the democrat. And that's exactly what happened and that was in two thousand and ten and he barely won in fourteen. If it weren't for the tank the gas tax ballot question, which Geoff Diehl was the case for he wouldn't have made it. And now he's you know, trying to take out Jaghlit with with two primary candidates. And and you know, it's just it's a perfect storm to get rid of somebody that really shouldn't be a Republican party. I mean seriously. For an independent. Well, what do you think about dominion Phillies clear about the governor's race? What about the Senate race? Geoff Diehl running obviously. Trump person has a lot of support among conservatives easily won the primary, but the general elections going to be a whole different thing. I mean, you know, this the makeup of the state are you prepared to get crushed in that race? What do you think's going to happen? I think it depends on if Trump comes into the state number one that's going to be a huge boost. Because you know, there's a lot of Democrats out there that don't want to vote from Elizabeth Warren. And why I say that is a lot of our members that were getting signatures stiffen candidates, not necessarily for the US Senate rate, the standing there trying to get signatures, and you have Democrats approach you and they say, oh, we'll sign you know, to put a Republican up against Elizabeth. We're not gonna we're not gonna vote for her again and that happened over and over and over again, they're just like the silent group of Democrats daily don't like her that aren't going to vote for her. So there is a faction of that over there out there that I'm betting on. And again, Jeff is is it has a great personality. He's a great speaker. He's a great debater. He's going to lock horns with her. And it's not going to be pretty the same thing with James McNair, j McMahon will just totally as being or he is just gonna. Eat Healy up. On the show. I've had him on the show. He is a good debate. We had we had a mini debate here with him and his opponent. And he did a good job definitely articulating physicians. He's obviously on the more conservative side. And it's going to be interesting. If he does if he does agree to debates. I haven't heard that she is. But if she does it'd be interesting to see if she doesn't that's kind of a kiss of death because that's just going to turn off a lot of independence are going to say, hey, he got a debate at least. And I think that's another faction to go back and look at the primary for governor Baker in lively, he just stayed just ignored. The fact they came out of the convention, not even mentioning that. Governor Baker had a primary challenger, and then he wouldn't debate them. And I think that inflamed a lot of enroll to pull the ballot and say, hey, you know, you gotta at least debate. So I think the Democrats decide. Not to debate. I think it's gonna hurt them in a long line and Baker. Of course, did not debate himself. Now, it'll be interesting. What he does now within solace? If he just figures, I'm the incumbent, I'm the most popular governor in the country, which we all are like scratching their heads who they talking to you. I talk to people all over the country because I'm connected with the NFL, and they'll say to me Baker who they don't know who Baker in you talk to people out near Zona and in Nevada is like put Charlie Baker. They don't even know he's the governor of Massachusetts. So I don't know where they're getting that those numbers from. But again on go ahead. No. I was going to say if you have thirty six percent of in your own party. Voting against you. It's hard to argue that you're the most popular governor in the country. We have to wait and see what the general the general election is going to be closer than people think. And Jay Gonzalez say they're already getting help from a honor Presley is out there. Elizabeth Warren is out there. Bashing Charlie Baker. And so I think it's going to be closer than people think if Democrats rally around Elizabeth Lawrence campaign. It could be it could be a tight race. Yeah. It could Republicans abandoned him, obviously, that's not gonna help her now. And I'm gonna tell you right now, the conservatives and the people that worked on the tank gas tax question that helped Charlie Baker get elected owning. And and I've heard over and over again from the second amendment people furious. Absolutely furious at Charlie Baker. So what is the difference of having a democrat or Kelly Baker? That's the choice. You're going to have to Mike poisons. I'm blanking, I'm blanking and not a Republican votes for him in twenty fourteen now. Yep. I blind them. I blanked him in. I liked him in ten and I'm gonna blank him. Now. That's that's that's it. I'm done. You know, I just can't he's not a Republican. And again, if you look at the statistics of how many state rep seats are never ever challenged challenged by the Republican party. It's just pitiful. And then what happens is these Democrats start building a cough or of money that Republican can't even challenge them down the road. I mean, my state rep here in town has a little like one hundred and seventy thousand dollars in his coffers. 'cause nobody challenges we're getting some questions here. Do you mind? Tux questions..
