"I really can't see a topping. Six hundred k. I'll get your thoughts on. This is the second. Jus i don't know how about you care about caper. View buys and stuff but the problem. The problem with this card is not the card. It's not the main event because when this fight was scheduled in december people were fired up for it. People wanted to see it. The problem is we just got poor versus mcgregor three weeks ago. So it's hard it's hard to have. It's it's expensive to be a fi fan. James and just really is somebody's somebody seventy dollars for that card and then turn right back around and pay seventy for this one as good as the fight is. It's a tough sell we i. It's a tough sonia. One of these guys talk a lot. They're not talkers their fighters and that's just the reality and there's nothing wrong that but i'm telling you right now if you as a fight famously scarred you're going to be this is one of those cars that doesn't look like as the star power. This card has a lot of really good match ups on it that i think are going to be fireworks man. I think there's going to be really really good fights on this card And you know it's always hard to tell. Because the ones that you say are going to be a dud. Turn out to be crazy one. Think crazy tries to be a dud. Sometimes that's how it goes. But for me when i look at the when i look in this car. From top to bottom stylistically matchups not name valued matchups. This card is mashed extremely well to be a fan favorite card jay. What was what was that card. Was it in toronto. The holloway versus pet card. What was that. Wh- what was the two two seven to a was toronto bridge. That my detroit. It was up near it was called car was been as the map brown. Donald aronie card. That was the Was the other one. Was that the cub swanson Super boy troy fight you astronaut. Yes definitely gonna know was talking about that card. Nobody was talking about it and that fight. That whole card was absolutely insane. I feel like we might have something similar here. Oh yeah do you. I mean you never know. That's the you know what i mean. Can't you can't judge you can't judge what's going to be a good fight anymore off face value just doesn't work like that. You know i mean light. There's going to be some good fights their stylistically a kind of some really good fights and i don't buy the damn thing if you don't wanna watch it you know what i mean. I tell these guys like but you're right like you can't. We can't get carnival support a every weekend. It doesn't work like that but like as as a fan. If you're if you're not excited to this hard. I don't know what else i don't also say. Does it have name recognition. Not a ton no but there is a some killer match ups on this car. Are you familiar James from your kind of work not work of drugs even victim. You know you've worked your female fighters. Are you familiar from random maverick. Yeah absolutely. she's from. she's from springfield missouri. A few hours from me. Oh well i am just super high. I think that that young lady is i. I just i just think she's amazing what. I don't think we're going to any questions about her. Love to hear your ear opinion about her as a fighter. Yes she's a she's really good. what i like about her. She brings She's very very durable. she is for for female fighters. She just seems to be so much physically stronger than a lot of the girls that she fights and you mix that with some really good grappling and good cardio. And she's a handful you know she's got. She has a good skill set and she has a great supporting cast to bring to that skill set. You know her. Her striking is is coming along much. Better she seems to improve that every time out but she's got some pop man she's got some power and that typically makes other girls to grapple her but when you grapple her she's a skilled be she's extremely extremely physical and see she has cardio says she breaks these girls down over time I'm i like her a lot. She's she's tough. I will say this. This matchup is a very interesting matchup. 'cause i feel like we're we're describing both girls as we talk about this know jillian. It is very very skilled grapplers. Well she's looking for the take down. I think it's gonna come down to. Who's a better wrestler in this one Who gets take down. That's where it's going to be. Because the i don't see one girl submitting the other. I think both these girls have extremely good. Ju jitsu But to answer a question and she's she's very very good she skill does she has great supporting cast to go along with much She's so mature for two. It's amazing yeah I'm a pretty common up here. It's a bit of a troll comment and i don't. I'm not putting up because i agree with it. I wanna talk about. Because this i see a lot so i just want to talk about it but it would be a show. If we didn't feed you snooze. Been most boring fighter of all time. I mean virginia we. Yeah yeah. I mean whatever whenever you watch now. He's.

"It. Big Win for Tracy Cortes did. So against short notice opponents, there's a lot of excitement surrounding her. So look forward to seeing her continue to progress even further in the sport and speaking of short notice. James. Krause. Is No stranger to short notice he steps in to face Claudio, Silva this Saturday less than two weeks notice since he put pen to paper recorded this. Chad on Friday of last week while he was still in Las Vegas during the quarantine thing, it's it's been quite the journey to get defied island here he is the James Krause. We have James Krause joining us right now proving once again that if there's a short notice fight that needs filling, he is the guy to call. Luckily, he gets a little more time to prepare for this one than his last fight. He takes on Claudio Silva on Fight Island October. Seventeenth James Freeman. I'm good. How about you doing great. So this came together very quickly Claudio was set to fight Muslims Salek off how did you get inserted into this conversation? Well weird time to deal. The fight was actually initially initially offered to me and I accepted it, and for whatever reason I don't know why they They pulled the fight for me and said they would. Not In a bad way, but they they said they would they wanted to put me stateside instead and. So, they they gave it to somebody else that guy fell out and they offered it to me again. like. Three four weeks ago or something like that and I said, no, I didn't want you know I didn't Wanna I didn't WanNa do it on that sort knows camp and then anyway I thought I would get another fight. You know a different fight on on later card because initially, the fight was set to be a little earlier I believe. End A. Long Story Short. up. Offering it again and I was just like screw. This is this is taken because if I don't fight right now on the island, I won't fight again for the rest of the year I too many people looked like I have. Five guys, and you have see. In November I mean satellite in December and then I probably, another four or five guys aren't booked at the moment. So you know those guys will recycle through five fourth quarter as well. So I'll be dizzy its fourth quarter and I just won't I want to do a campaign that so. Why not I'm always in shape? I trained every day. You know what I mean like why not? Yeah. I was curious about that because you know you and I have spoken many times in the past and one of the things we talked about is is after the last night in Brazil, you're like I don't really want to travel internationally anymore because of additional expenses, taxes and all that stuff. So it seems that you just Kinda felt like if I'm GONNA fight this year, it doesn't matter where it's going to be I have to take this opportunity is that is that kind of Yeah. But the taxes are not it's not the same You I mean the the it is not the same. There's no double tax or anything like that. So but yeah, it's basically we came down the deciding factor for me was like, Hey, if you don't take this fight, you won't fight again for the rest of the year and and. There's I. Mean we have twelve guys in my gym right now. So there's no sign to me that that's going to slow up anytime soon you know what I mean. So almost as better for me to take something short notice. Jim Everyday Anyway. So so why not has the weight right now because I know you know cutting the last you're at one, eighty five. So it's a little bit easier to get there. You still have to do on a day's notice. So it was probably a little bit stressful but you know what? The wait at right now how much you have got to get to that Mark I I'm going to right now on a scale but before I left I was waking up at like one say one, eighty, one, eighty, eight. So I'm good I mean I've done I've done way way worse cuts. When I was fighting a fifty five, that was a normal cup so. So I want switch gears briefly because you know your team like they've been competing quite a bit as of late of course, your coach and owner of glory may fitness and I want to go back to one of your fighters that has been in my opinion one of the big stories of two thousand, Twenty Kevin Croom what a night that was for him for grant Dawson and for yourself like he makes his debut on I'll call it krause like notice he gets a first round submission and then there's this moment. When I spoke with him after the fight that he described it Kinda gave me boost bumps goosebumps. He said after he finished Roosevelt Roberts. He told me I mean just pulls up he said quote I just mean Mug James, there's nobody else in the room it was just the killers effing mean mugging each other you had this moment young games when the fight ended, what was that night like for you seeing him come from where he's come from in his career to having a moment like that probably changes entire life. So The back story to that is, is there was about like there was. So we got we took the fight against the serious about a month before that, and then he tested positive for covid. Like literally almost every week leading up to that there was another opportunity another opportunity and it just for whatever reason it would fall apart in every single fight that was offered to us. That was a potential. I really liked for Kevin and then you draw row Rosa animal man he's tough. You know so and out of our way class on a day's notice. So it's like we have to take you..

"I learned from the book that I read about Starbucks Cafe House done. That's why they put your name on the glass when the question name. Sir Andy put it so they call you by name so I made it in a way to destruct. Have to call the student at least three times by his name so he felt like he was home. He felt like he was around people who knew him yes so he changed everything. So data me grew from one hundred and fifty students in four months to four hundred fifty in four months and then from there on we stand proven and making better the new school. The one that Matt that we open up society met with their to teach a class. Luca love it when you call him coming over to teach a class so he went to pitch class and one of the where is it? On the upper west side eight? So seventy second street in Columbus You know so dash school. In ten months we reach five hundred students. This is unheard off. You won't see this. You know every school that goal every school aims to have up to three hundred students. That's that goal. They believe if they can make three hundred exceed everything you know. We did five hundred students in in ten months. Have classes seven days a week on my main headquarters? I have eighteen classes a day. We open a seven to nine is impossible to get there in those shit least fifty sixty people and how you do private lessons and not just an able to do something very unique because like most of the people you work ditching privates in academy. They take half from seventy percent of the income from you right the average hours. Short two hundred dollars so you you leave at least one hundred for that. Kademi. That's doing what I did. I don't take a dime from. I want every single one of them to do well when to make I sit down with my relatives so I don't take a dime from them. I let them have a very good income so they have a good life. I see all the Pentagon east grandma go check. These guys are in. Europe are traveling more than I do and doing things and that same time. They are fulfilling. I don't remember the last time I call someone. Attention Academy all these structures worth like the places his so. It's very unique. A very unique business setting that is doing very well. Look each open one. I'm just negotiating on Friday. Have a meeting to close. Maybe a lease one in downtown too so now have Brooklyn plus the guy who's training for guys doing privates at your school and he's making money the student that he's teaching there when he tastes classes is probably going to take them at the school. Anyway he's probably GonNa stay there and take his. You'LL HAVE NEW YORK. You have a unique thing. You have guys only trained private. It's a very wealthy people and they only want a private. They go in to have the time to finish it out. You know. It's a very unique market. The this new school in downtown. I may have a a a a private plus the places still square feet no columns. I may be able to put a couple of rooms just for privates yeah. It also seems like privates are good for K. For time like if you only have a couple hours of time and there's no class I would guess it would be good to do average for you to have an idea. My school was doing so elda average working our from one of my structures foredeck Adamy. He's an hour and a half of the so. He works a nine and a half get salary and then makes a lot of money through privates and seminars and traveling to teach them Jimmy. I only have two schools in Long Island couple affiliates but to schools my and listen. I'm the fucking Scala. I'll tell you right now. I don't agree with that. Shimmy Jimmy Maher is the Hansel. Took me under his wing. The number one thing that I try to instill in my students at my schools and this is this is the rule is atmosphere is as an as is as important as anything that you're teaching their whatever product it is whatever atmosphere is like the number one thing just like. Enzo said that the big The Big Guy that was at my school. Everybody's coming in a man or they they know best the hands those fights fights what am I walking into. I want to learn this stuff. But you know he's guys fighting a cage you know everybody's a little up in arms a little bit of if you make the environment friendly to them. It's possible that I I never teach. Don't making jokes making laugh. You know. It's always yeah has to be fun. You know what's scary about it? It's not even the idea of getting hurt. If the idea of being embarrassed he idea being life's humiliated it's not necessarily about the physical pain. Humiliation assimilation is to be dominated to an environment that you'll know Mafia about. You're not you and to try and be terrible. Yeah because I'm such a judgmental prick. Most people are not judgmental. Like that like I'll watch people dancing like I so I can't answer. I think people are laughing at me watching. It might be able to dance terrible. Wish we play some music. I would love that. We would be later on. Which I you stick around the city. They'll be in the upper west side. Oh yeah you WanNa go Jimmy go I wanna I wanNA teach a class tonight? If that's how many classes you got there tonight we have a bunch of one fundamentals class. That's what I like. He's got that he's coming up Komo sophomores. He loves studying positions the waitress position to get it. He was unbelievable. Where could they get that? Sometimes it's on you have your thing. Gallery Gallery. Yeah G. A. L. L. E. R. That's Chimi that wants to learn school online. You basically you learn out the movements from the beginning to now. Volvo have over who have overcome pas a member there. You know it's doing very well. Let's call the gala gala. So it's so it's kind of an online. It's an online academy. Now we're going to start developing a program of just law enforcement and we increasing our idea in the near future stop broadcasting all defining and competitions from gallery. You know so. It's it's what's Nice about it to. Jimmy is a guy like yourself who's interested but still a little apprehensive you get to watch it. You'll get familiar with the techniques and start to see what a class about and whatnot before you go into mass. The hensel school but I but I know enough about doing things to know that like you know the only I did. Comedy was by doing comedy. The only way to train is to like you to do it. I have to go in and do it. And that's look who your best friend is. I know top five friends easily easily. Won Best Friend. Oh you didn't three tied for with a couple of people it's definitely topic is definitely top. Top Five top eight. Maybe people. You're tied with up there so Was I gonNA say that with the With the Eagles Sanchez fight. What else should he just go? I mean he already not. I'm not saying he's shit on his coaches but a little bit. You've seen how much better this new guy is. It's his mentor in the corner with with What's his name again? Listen off guys named Little Guy. He had only one guy in his and the guy was on them. I want you to try to be stirring. Tell him to cut by to cut the BS and I want to take them down. You gotta listen just like Miss. The handle was talking about the setup. He did for that. Take with a single egg into southport. Stance give them a direction to go in a man make him. Think of the hands low level Louis Level. Go for that single leg otherwise otherwise you just another person in the crowd. Gal Him hit him. He won't chaotic in there. Well he told him any one.

"UFC. On what a busy show. Yes we have master Hendro Gracie as honest way a sit in studio with us. Well he said he'd be here. At what time was that Antonio? Okay he said at twelve thirty. It's only right now. Eleven minutes past the toys at twelve thirty five because you said he text. Yaba here in twenty five minutes to twelve ten sewage. Only six months late twenties. I know he's trying to make them. Look Worse. Mr Bed and James Krause first appearance on our show and Yamba hosts. John hasn't been okay. Yeah remember is so bad. Tell you man yawn is? I don't know if you were here. Actually when young I might not have but then I might have been. My memories is going O on. They've told me about my memory. Listen really quick. What a weekend you know I was in Albuquerque for. Did you see Mirages Fi? If you would've said no I would have been. I would have walked down. I'm exaggerating. I wouldn't have worked Jimmy but I am so beyond. What's a word? That's beyond happy ecstatic. Oh you save me from Saint Aesthetic wrong now. You said it right say it right. Burns all is walking the first time in the new studio. How are you Giovannia already started about three minutes ago? I was saying wait. Antonio was questioning whether you you know really gonNA be. You're on time. I told Him Watch. His mouth just started so happy. So happy to see you know the beauty. We are home remember by the old school. Thirty seven th street above the Methadone Clinic. Yes method uncle well. Schools right above did that. It was something else. So you know what that's right. That was off thirty seven. Shit man a couple of blocks. That's so funny little different on that on that much better here. Did you convert anybody coming out of the clinic? See you guys and eventually we lost some shooters onto it. It was a wild crowd. I try I try but I never realized that the drug problem. He was different in Brazil. I did it a lot alcoholic anonymous drug addicts. I brought to jugend stopped but over. Here that was was hearing was different ballgame. Yeah I never. I did have a hurry in in Brazil. You know so. I never was a bad addiction. It's a problem everywhere. This semester is pretty addictive to just the treatment for it is pretty rough. You know Did you see the fights this past week I saw? I don't know if he's so yes I love. They call him the machine. He just all heart. Yeah you can see four Casey Kenny. Guy undefeated in a UFC. I'm St- I'm you know Mama status. Though that was unbelievable it was a good match handle. Did you see Diego Sanchez? Miniature yes and before we get into that Diego. Sanchez is talking about the end. Anti-aging the Jimmy. He is look at mass. The fucking hands or look at him he discovered i. I don't have one hundred fifty three and our next month that was the next question are dying Zola. I Won't lie about. I swear at grandson I would. I need gray hair. Look more serious you know I might shave it. That's why I keep my hair so short it's coming in grey and younger younger women so it looks creepy. Tried to keep it short as they can and so people don't know this. I'm getting old. You know these young when we look at this during the fight last night and in the locker room there was a lot of Marama rob when he used the fee so he's got such great energy that Il Il used to us get to somebody's back. Stand there not jump on the back and lose it. Just keep attacking. Because he doesn't get tired so we try to calm him down and one of the things we were working was. I don't know if you heard it during the fight much much. Urban yelled at the hands. Oh Yeah it's out now. I don't know if those last fight which unlike Milo was over a decade ago. His last fight was around twelve months ago he when he was fifty one. A Ford over in a in China was was Manila Philippines and He had a beautiful back. Take on this very dangerous fighter. Legend Japan Yuki Kondo. And he had his back he and his his using the fight. So I have all my guys. We're on the back sticking their one hook leg across straightening falling into the side also known as the end zone. So does a good mover. It's the worst. I told my brothers in the people that were there with me and said this is going to his back like this. I'M GONNA do swoop down submitted. My brother would look at me. Aguire do are you a psychic? What do you think you are psychic? You know and I did exactly what you're GONNA do. It was there something he did that. You're a lefty and I decide on the first rondos filling him and I thought he was just defensive. He beat a lot of of guys. He's like ten years younger than me and he'd beat Murray Sperry heat salary bill. He bit unbelievable. It's fighter because he was very good in in the game and he would. He would hit very hard. He was a good can knockout. Everybody you know he used to initial the first flying knees was yes can knock. A lot of people would fly me back in Japan back in front Grilles so I knew I have to shoot on the flag and block. It and I didn't have veteran vision away. I locked the Moore cough so he tried to sprawl. He couldn't then. I just stood up taken down but I decided the backout have been a chance to finish him. I took the back and finish. That's why they say the devils the devil not only because he's the Davits because he's old there was that I saw him movie. GonNa Sweat Break Debrum the bench and then I look at them because I was arguing my brother but you'll moving too slowly look like old man. When I go to the to the corner they have the base for me to sit and say who brought this bench that this showed up because you try to make men little gold say watch. Now it's going to be over in a minute. Then I finish a middle second round. Yeah it was very precise. And what's Nice about? It is just like horrible era when he was doing the flying knee in practice. You see them doing it. You Seen Hanzo going over with Daniel or forget who it was at the airport. You do an exact back less and and this is not the first time in the back. Take you did on a taboo short stocky. Looks like maybe the Black Guy Eugenol due to. Yes killing the name. But he's like dude he's like he's a little stock. You Little Guy Handle had this Bhaktapur that he was doing for that camp. It's when a guy when you get the back when a guy who's on all fours when a guy is good at getting it back to the floor so he would get the back like a seatbelt position when the guys in a turtle position Jimmy so and the guy would go to get the back to the floor he would handle would initiate the role. I and up on their back and looked strandbooks books in and everything so I always love but it was always fascinating to me is that I seem to handle training these techniques and then using them in action not at the the fucking ib where local grappling tournaments is. Where if you do fuck up the worse you get some points or lack of position and you might lose a match. You're going to lose some fucking skin. You might lose consciousness and in a case where heads was fighting in Brazil. I mean the fight. I'm talking about when we spoke about this before but it was ages ago that stabbed through the fucking cage Jimmy while he was fighting they were kicking me stabbing the guy that was hitting me. I remember the look at him. I say my mother hits me harder than that Jimmy. No it was. It was a it was it was you can resemble what we do nowadays but it was not the same. It's a different world different world a different time. It was the way I think it was the the solid bays to four more. We have today. The amazing spider have today. Yeah but you look back on those days prior fondly right like I even -joy much more. I enjoy the old days are now because you didn't know what to expect. You didn't know where you were going to go where we're GONNA go zola surprise surprise box. Yeah unbelievable it's easy now. Does your kids. The champ is not even want to fight him anymore because they make so much money with your travel. The whole word date whatever they want. So it's now it's about is that didn't happen to us too when we were coming up the tournaments great and everything but the number one thing was for the fight it was it was made for combat. So what I loved about the early. Anybody communicate rules but the early rules were. What's best for a street fight? He's lying score. I if you happen to be in a street fight how good you could do. So that was the squash today. They change everything protecting yourself. Almost like a real life situation. Yes new for live situation if one day happens and also like yourself and guys of your era Guys that come to mind not not to mention all the Gracie's that's that's that's a given but guys like fabulous show Murilo Bustamante these guys even from different camps that era if you've seen them in Jujitsu tournament whether it's with a Gi without a gay Abu Dhabi and you see them in. Mma fight they using the same techniques. Yes you know what I mean so very different than today with you could sit. And what's the correct tour now? You don't say Indian stand with the fuck you say when I guess Chris Cross Chris Quito but if I was going to be politically correct rubbing the button and the floor. That's what you say. It was uncommon off.

"I play so You used psychological warfare. When you're absolutely absolutely have to write like at the at the when you're on a track full of Ferrari's sometimes the the octane of gas is the only difference you have you know what I mean? So you have to use every every every advantage that you can to to get an edge and I think that For for me finding my zone when I get my zone when I get out there my only thing is is I go out and I get my job to work if I get my job to work. Good if I get kicked and it hurts like that's for me. That's the the small town thing that I need to. I need to pass by and it's like I just keep telling you just get to work. Get to work. Get to work because I know what that means to me. That's Mike that's my thing. Just go get to work these things over here. There's always going to be distractions. There's always gonNA be fogged. Just get to work but college football coach. 'CAUSE I was always high up low down you you know acts as a kick returner running back also defensive back there very emotional positions yeah and he would just always grab and go and just keep playing. Just keep playing right. Pass Out Yet get to work. You know in that aspect of the psychological side of things. Have you ever been just beat by someone. That's just better than you. Oh absolutely yeah I mean. Sometimes sometimes all the the the X. factors the mentality your maybe change something in training your technical sometimes some that sometimes comedic is better than you and that happens that happens in and from that you have to take that as a learning experience. You know what I've done better you have to break that down obsess over that I lose sleep over that. Like what could I have done. what am I going to do to be better from this. You know not necessarily focus dwell on the loss because you can't you. You can't think like that. Hi How you doing how you do everything so you have to. You have to focus on. What's what's coming not? What was behind you right so wonder you know? The psychology of festival athlete an an individual professional athlete. You know whether it be a golfer a tennis player you know fighter. Sure where you know. There's a tire woods right and and you just know on Tiger Woods. Best Day I in his heyday. Or you know you. Have you know. Maybe a chance right. But he's better he's proven he's really good good but you might go your whole career without being a champion. Yeah so I don't focus on that I focus on being the best that I can be And whatever that whatever that gets me to then that's fine and I'm going to have I'm going to be successful in everything that I do. It's IT'S MY I. I'm I'm big on consistency. I'm big on Obsession over almost you know not to not to a fault but I feel like these things you have to lose a little bit of sleep over whatever you're GonNa do you know and if I don't if I'm not a champion I'm okay with that. I've been happy with what I've done and I'll I'll move on. And I'll be successful or whatever's next. That's the one thing I like about entrepreneurship. You know you. You can have victories and losses. But there's really you know you got basis. There's no end though right and it's not like the sports side. There's one champion with what I like about entrepreneurs. There's literally thousands if not millions of champions because in determinative upon my own values whether money visit like right now. I'm at the Pinnacle of of where I've ever been and it had and yet putting many people make more money than me. People have more office space than I have. They have more employees. Or whatever you WANNA judge but like I have one thing that that I judge myself by which she's my happiness right and happiness are my personal values experiential giving and receiving and you know I just had a point in my life. I wake up every day we just saw inspired and so happy and really enjoying this journey and learning so many lessons and that's hard to do. It's never did any sports man. I never was happy. Happy I loved it I still. I Miss Playing football baseball the things but like I. I never felt like every single day. I'm a champion like I don't have to wear a belt. I literally feel like every day. I'm walking around in in my business. Now Champ yeah sugar sugar as my friend. I I walk him. Go thinking what what would have been like to walk around winning the gold medal being the world's best at something and you've been claimed it right. It's on your your belt. It's on your name. It caused a champion. Yeah no matter what happens. Calls me champion. I'm not wearing any belts and they can give you whatever accolades you want. But there's tons of guys who do more whatever but for me. I've never been happy with the myself. Can you do that as a fighter. I think I think my attitude. Everybody's different on it. Obviously yeah I think my attitude is kind of what we were talking about with with. Entrepreneurship is like first of all. I'm not supposed to be here like I was raised in a trailer Park Bro. Like I'm not supposed to be here any I've already won. I was the champ five years ago. You know what I mean like. I'm way past. I was ever expected to be anyway so I don't I don't I don't look at a as fighting getting as my my purpose. I don't think it is my purpose. I think it's my platform and I think it will lead me to whatever my purpose is But I don't ever really we see it as a like a definitive loss. You know I don't look at it like it's For me like you said there's multiple champions I feel like I'm already there You know obviously obviously I. I do feel like I'm going to do more but I don't ever look at it as a win loss thing like I can. I'm I've made it or I haven't made her on the champ. I'm not the champ. I'm way past. Why should be or where I was supposed to be and I? It's it's a race against myself not anybody else. I don't worry about what other people are doing. I worry about what I'm GonNa do what what I can do to make myself better than I was yesterday last question. We both come from more humble beginnings Trailer Park Akron. Ohio minutes The armpit of the US great people you know two bedroom apartments six kids. It's almost like trailer park anyway. Do you think it's an advantage or disadvantage. I think it's whatever you make so it doesn't matter if you were born with everything or board with nothing no what you make of it. I think it's what you make of it. I think you can when you absolutely if you're born into if you're born into wealth and you're born into the connections that we were talking about earlier relationship network if you're born into those things it's a lot easier to advance through life life but but you don't have necessarily the grit. You don't have the hardship. You don't have the nothing to lose. You don't have that attitude but obviously on the other end that that's what you bring to the table. Is that grit that that hardship the nothing to lose attitude the grinder. I'm GONNA make this. I have to make not. I'm going to have to make this happen. Just don't have the connections connections are something that's learned grinding. It's hard to learn that I tell people all the time because I have these interns turns in some of them are through relationships and they come from everything and others. Are I look for grady trailer. Park this is their big opportunity and I always say they. My wife's like is there any difference. I said no because the ones that are motivated they have nothing to lose and the other ones are motivated. They have everything and it's the ones that can truly see past those things and just want to be better And also I find that those like you that want to help other people that give very abundant and I find that people that want to help other people. They're driven to help other people. I knew it was so I would say the purpose is different. A friend than your wi by the purposes truly have this fulfilled. Everyone knows their why I can answer for you. You do what you do so you can help blank. Thank goodness kids your mom you. Everyone does their Y.. Is I'm GonNa do this so I can do this for somebody else. Nobody's why is usually talking to do for for myself that somebody else would literally you're Y is known but purpose is different purposes this combination of where you're at in that journey that everyday wake up motivated. Yeah To do something and you know it. It's rare we got some huge names on here. You know on this show and I wanted to have you on here. I'm not one of them. You uh-huh you will be and because you grind grinder. Yeah I am too right and I'm the same way I spent most of my career. Nobody would know who the Heck Okay Warns Guy was leased Guy Right. I was the guy that lost all that money. You know but literally I just kept grinding and helping people grind and pretty soon the truth comes out and your truth will come out as well and I can't wait to be a part of that. "Meltzer Day Meltzer with entrepreneurs the playbook and another terrifying playbook here because I have a UFC welterweight past lightweight lightweight fighter James Krause. Welcome to the playbook. I'm very excited to be here. Thanks for having me you know entrepreneurs and you have see fighters have a lot in common. That's why I love having when you guys on Because the playbook to success really revolves around how you manage the truth in fear Because I don't think there's anything more terrifying. I played college football and I think I'd still do it as much is everyone's afraid but I don't like I have been in the biggest. Aha I mean the in the AFC. Arenas I been. I don't even like stepping into those things. It's terrifying. Yeah I mean I think I think just like with anything you get desensitized to it over over. I mean fighting for for thirteen years I have over sixty five. That's just a mess. Not Including Ges who competition kickboxing. Whatever so I think at some point just like with anything? I'm afraid of heights right so but if I went skydiving everyday for the next year it wouldn't be a big deal after you know a month probably so I think he just get desensitized to it If you allow yourself to be obviously you know. He's still see the the mental lapses in the breaks. All the time with with with people but For me I've been doing it for so long. I think it's just kind of a part of me and I've optus gotten used to I think there's so much consequence in sport Physically and mentally that. It's almost like you have to deal with it. You know You know I don't really put much stock into into the consequence of kind of drive. Pass it you know. I mean it's almost like a small town when you're on a road trip you just don't you don't really worry about it. You know like I'll I'll get to the next gas station. Yeah so That's that's an entrepreneurial statement is there's so much pain yeah ball with growing a business and it it takes longer and the I've heard all the time right the punches keep on coming or with Gary Van or truck yesterday and he has his book left. Left right yeah I read it. Yeah and so you know that initiative though you know you have to have a consistent belief in yourself because you're going to lose you're GONNA get hurt. Yeah the lessons though so what I like about. UFC or I represented you know some great boxers along the way at least I amberg so we had Lennox Lewis Vander Holyfield even Oscar de la Hoya as good those those guys got hurt to You know in the lessons were painful. And it's not just the loss the lessons of the loss. It is the lessons of making a mistake. But it manifest itself itself in quicker pain. The pain goes away faster than for example. If you're a dummy like me and lose one hundred million dollars it takes a little bit longer for the pain to go away. I wish I broke my nose when I was sixteen software and call In high school playing football and everybody would cringe when they saw the cast on my face. I was homecoming court. Actually the white cast passed and the pain went away really quick. Yeah I mean you pretty much already said it best. There's I think there's an emotional roller coaster. Oh so just because I with with fighting in With fighting especially it's such a primitive thing it's always it's always the end of the road like so if if we go back and forth you say I have more money than you and I'll say one faster than you can say more than you but the end of the line is like the most primitive into the line is. I'll beat you up. You know what I mean. There's this you can't you won't top that you know what I mean so like no matter. How much money you have? I'll I'll whip your ass and that's just it's over at that point right so whenever you get beat up in front of everybody is kind of like you know I I lost that. I lost to the Eagle ever. Yeah Oh it is it is so. It's it's embarrassing. You know just like what we're talking about with business you you hit those moments all the time where It it just seems like it for a split second. It seems like it's like Holy Shit man like I can't you know I I just can't deal with this and then you figure it out and you just move on past small town on the road you know. Go to the next gas station so and you get stronger. Yeah or you. Don't you know what I mean. It's it's one or the other and that's what I love. I think that's why what pulls me to the sport. And what pulls me to being an entrepreneur is it. There's there's no gray area it's it's one of the other you will either grow from it or you won't and You know there's no there really isn't a lot of room for average coverage in that and I and that's what I love about it is You you constantly have to challenge yourself and for me. That's why I do it is it's A. It's a constant challenge silence to yourself a becoming a better version of you. It's interesting because the sports background that a lot of entrepreneurs had you know a lot of the early entrepreneurs come from sports background Because they don't quit writer you know they're used to the pain in the failures and they keep on going in there used to taking in big risks Whereas I find it interesting? You know as an entrepreneur. You're only GonNa get better no matter what happens along the journey. You know. It's one of those things things. Where like you know my business partners hall of fame quarterback you know he played professional football toys? Forty four years old but eventually you know. He wasn't as good as as he he's sixty three today right. He's not as good as he was wearing. Forty four thirty four. That's going to happen true with you as well as an entrepreneur. You can start today and I promise you in twenty years. You'd be a better nor yeah yeah I don't think I don't think there's as much There's as much consequence Consequence can be translated. It's a to learning lessons very easily with entrepreneurship in my opinion to whereas like there's an actual physical consequence of you know like your nose being broker. Whatever you know like you have that? It'll it'll arrest on you for for quite a while and I guess. Some of that stuff can be disguised in entrepreneurship with a loss of one hundred million dollars. That'll that'll break your heart. You know that it'll do that but I think it's a lot easier like you said it's it's it's so much more difficult to to. I mean it's it's almost impossible to not get better from it. You know The the lessons aren't as harsh physically. And I think that's where that's where a lot of people have a have a hard time with you know we were just. We were just downstairs talking. And it's like if you just focus on the on the next and I think it's a lot easier to do that when someone you in the face you know it makes makes it a lot easier a lot of guys who are in the individual sports men and women when you're an individual sport and then you make this transition and a lot. People are already transitioning while they're fighting or golfing or whatever whatever individuals. But they're doing. There's much more involved with the team. Yes and you know although there is a team behind you. Ah It's not the same as playing football which is the ultimate teams. Were with forty two guys. Yeah and then the staff and the rest of the supporting staff. Where do you see that got transition from coming from an individual sport to have to rely on so many other people for the actual fight right for the main event? It's going to take a lot of people to execute yeah Yeah I mean I think I think just like with anything you to to be great at something you need to learn how to delegate and you need to learn how to ask people for help I really truly believe that. And and it is an individual sport per se but that's so far from the truth I mean we. We need training partners and people to keep us together nutrition Technical were and it is nonstop. We're not talking about like one offs. We're talking on a daily basis. You need all of these things to become great at what you're doing I think so There's there's behind every great fighter or business person or whatever there's always an awesome supporting cast behind them and if you surround yourself by excellent people you'll you'll be that you know you're the average of the five people spend the most time with or whatever that's such a cliche but it's true true true. Yeah I know like you you will get get those will be your results. And that's that's something. I've really focused on hard. This last Twelve months is surrounding myself with with better. The people and I don't mean that He's got a level up. You know you have to you have to level up and and spend time with with with different people in different mindsets. Even you know it's it's not about money necessarily it's a it's about different thing open thinking I think. That's a huge huge part of growth. And you very philosophical for a fighter. Her where does the where do these philosophies comfort you realized you watch videos podcasts. How how do you get this perspective at such a young age I study study success. man he's you hit this time. We were just downstairs talking. You touched on this I think especially anything. This is anything anything this is not the business. People think it's the fighting business and then go as far as they say it's not the fight. Business is sports entertainment business and then but there's such it's like another deep level of that as you. It's not even that. It's it's the study of relationships it's the study of networking study of a body language How how people are reacting to you who you know how you treat people to me? Those things are far more Far More important for the longevity of things than than punching kicking now. You obviously have to know how to do that. If that's what you're going to be your trade but those things will get you so much farther networking knowing people You know how to talk to people. Ah Read Understanding Body language like that is so much more important to me than than punching kicking the other thing I like to learn about. Is You know you work so hard hard and so long for a fight yes right in that fight calms and sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. Sometimes you fight better than you thought you wood and other times. You really disappointed. What what do you think the difference is you know looking back you know comparatively for the fights that you're like whoa? Wow that was awesome prepared a certain way. What are the key factors that you look back when you don't perform your best wh when you look back wh- whoa is there something that consistently could've done better? Yeah I think it's about finding your specific zone. You gotta find your own like what is it for you. I know what mine is and and just talk about like the clarity of what the zone means. I think they're a few things need to happen. There has to be a heightened sense of consequence right like there something has asked. Ah there hasn't been an event that something can change the trajectory of your success or failure. Right I think there has to be a slight bit of nerves but not to the point of where clouds your judgement right. And what that means is you're passionate about it and Matt Right so For me I know my zone comes from if I get hyped up goan screaming all that Bro. I if I like I- terrible I have to go out and I have to be talking to my team and I have to have the conversation like you and I are because Ah thinker right. I'm I'm not. I'm not a fighter. I'm a thinker I'm GONNA intellectual technical. I'm very very Finesse Calorie Leonard. Yes I'm not going to be in your face the whole time. I'm looking to be rangy. I'm trying not to get hit So my game is very very technical and you have to have a clear head for that to be able to control range. Doc four-inch deception to be able to hit and not get hit. It's a very Thinking Man's game the game..

"All right want to give some shots here to the YouTube chat. Big boys cry to he listening here. He's talking about Israel versus Whitaker. Any thoughts on that matchup? It is to be epic to amazing strikers are think Whitaker is a little bit more of a well rounded fighter, although Izzy seems to just get better. And better he takes these strides that by the time they fight. I think it'll be kind of a. Pick them type fight, you know, think so far as the odds. Go maybe Whitaker, you know, 'cause he's been in some of these tougher battles. He might get a little bit more the love. But remember the also carry a little bit of the popularity game. And I don't see too many people not knowing who is is after this incredible run that he's had not to say that he's any less popular or more private than Whitaker. He's just he's just, you know, very popular. And he's also a shout out to Segi underscore, boxers. Sixty nine says, he loves the show keep it up because of great means Hayes useful NCA shutout to him. He says what happened a yell and Soza y'all backed out he pulled out because of an injury. So now, it's Sousa versus joker Hermansson on Saturday at UC on ESPN three. Although earlier in the show, I said, let me explain what's happening. It's called UCS PM three, but it's been taken off ESPN it'll be on ESPN. Plus, so you won't get to see it. You can't just go to your neighborhood friendly bar, and you say put it onto six of direct TV. Or whatever it is PIN is on your other satellite or cable listings yet to have it on ESPN, plus which means tablet phone or if there's a bar out there that has the whole hookup than good on them. Can I go back to that first gentleman? Funny. Name also lash out to Eric races. Y'all. What's up? I'm talking. I'm George, and that's goes ahead. Yeah. What up that fight is in Whitaker? Remind me a lot of Dimitrius and Huto. I just wish it happened. A little like one more fight later for feel like whatever happened here. May not matter because they'll probably end up fighting again. And I think if they do you'll see a different Israel on you because you're right. He's growing to fight to fight. But I don't know that growth will be enough to contend with a guy like Robert Whitaker. How cool would it be though, they fought three times once in Australia wants a New Zealand wants in the states, that'd be cool. Like if that turned out to be a a big coin with rivalry. Yeah. Yeah. I like that. All right. Thanks to Sarah Kaufman for her time. Thanks to James Krause for his time shouted to Andre the giant for producing today show. Sure Josh is somewhere in the background always shout out to him. And goes you did a good job today. Thanks. You're welcome. I how ever took it to another level. I was fantastic. We will see you all tomorrow with another addition of radio think why have three guests to my no one's John Howard, yellow ones, this schmo. He'll be on. Tomorrow's show should be fun..

"Tonight at ten thirty eastern the Golden State Warriors to pose their series against the clippers when they face off in game five with the first round playoff series. Catch all the action on MBA radio through two seven x six string on Sirius XM connected devices and speakers joining us now is James Krause, you'll see lightweight and welterweight also head Costa fighters like Zak Cummings in Megan Anderson. He's writing fight win streak. And I just want to know where the hell he's been James Carl. How you doing how come you haven't been fighting? You're on a streak, brother. We've talked before. I don't I don't I don't like to fight. I don't have the volume that these guy them into this a long time going thirteen years like probably sixty close to sixty five amateur. I just have other stuff. I'm trying to set myself up with outside of fighting. And you know, I I will be back soon though. She's I get a grant in Megan through this Rochester card. I'll I'll probably look to get back in myself. You're right. We have spoken about this before. But I feel like right now is just these runs. Five hundred zero is is not easy to do in the UC. You know what I mean? And then to be able to do it top it all off throughout two different divisions. And that number thirty two I feel like that's one of those numbers where any fighter you ass, even the guys that blossom late or the ones that that may have started early but still have gas left in the tank, they can still call their prime house. I okay kind of a little bit of a shame here that he's not fighting. But okay, it's all under your control your healthy. And this is the way you want. It's yeah. I would consider myself in my prime, but I don't. I like I said I flight when I when I when I want to if I don't have that if I don't have that fire, you know, to get out of bed. I mean, I've been doing this for thirteen years, and sometimes I just wake up this all kinds of you know, messed up and injuries and all kinds of stuff. And I really thoroughly get I think so the thing I really get joy out of coaching and me, and my you know, I enjoy I enjoy competing still. But the film that I get definitely comes from definitely comes from coaching. So I will get back in there. And and I do agree. I'm doing myself a disservice by not seeing it through all the way. And I do intend to see to see what I can do. And how far how how far I can you know, go how far I can take it. If I can you know, what whatever that looks like, I don't really, I don't know. But I do intend on seeing it all the way through and I do feel like I'm in my prime. Definitely technically in the in the best. Ever been? I don't ever stop training. I train everyday twice a day. I can probably take short notice fight tomorrow. If I needed to I typically like three or four weeks of like, you know of prep time just to ramp up shrink conditioning and stuff like that. But I stay ready pretty much most of the time. But I'm not huge on on short notice fights. I could if I wanted to. But yeah mean there's a lot going on outside of fighting in. I don't I don't really see a point in rushing it and.

"And so I've been fortunate I really haven't encountered in my gym that feeling of oh, what are you doing because I've always been part of the gym and a pretty big, Jim I run the gym. And we have a very well. Even no tolerance really for attitude. That's a cross that line. I mean, there's only have been people more in the public who have not cared for it as much and have had, you know, their negative comments or they're just missive comments. Or you know, there's always gonna be people probably still are people. But definitely with the, you know with strikeforce, and then you have see bringing, you know, the women's visit over, you know, particularly from Rhonda, you know, that whole way there are so many people now very common that they say, oh, they're like the most exciting on the car. They're the ones I look forward to them about. And when they don't have fighters on the card point. And so if you shoot Swick in that regard from well at school that you do it. But I don't really wanna watch it too. I almost don't wanna watch a fight that doesn't have at least one female on it. Pretty neat transition in what? Seemingly short of time in in the fan of of a like. Yeah. Because I got to tell you about a week ago Clarisa Shiels fought. And a lot of people were talking about that fight. Like, hey, it's coming up. Hey, it's tonight. And then hey, did you see that fight? Then we had wrestlemainia few weeks ago Saint thing triple threat match, featuring the ladies thirty five wrestlemanias. This is the first one where they headline it in a few weeks. Rose unions is gonna defend against Jessica draws in the top Bill Valentine is a co main event, but she's still, you know, being promoted as kind of like a dual main of. Deal to fight type of setting there in Chicago. And so like the win in all combat sports are just on fire. You know what I mean? So I'm glad things have changed. I imagine they're still if you haters out there. I think it was like five or six, you know, on a lot of fights. So right, sixty that it's not just one or two square adequately added in, but it's a really big speech on the cards, and I mean, even five years ago that that really wouldn't have been the case. Well, I want to know you're a big part of that. You know, you've putting your time eve page dues. Your name is recognizable. PF L was smart in going after fighter like yourself. Like I'm gonna have fun with it in and it makes it more enjoyable again, it makes it wants a fight more frequently. It makes it to where life is good again. All right, but stop mentioning food because you give me hunger. All right, Dan, Tom, will you ever James Krause the winner recent winner over while the office? Hey, James, you know, speaking of the way and and and brains of you're talking about brains, you know a part of the benefits, you know they. So they say, at least that the science point stews there's more flu. In the brain. And as we're seeing them may fights from, you know these sample sizes and guys testimonials that they're able to take shots better. Now you're adorable guy always happens. I don't know how much of an issue it was for you, and you're the one that was peace in Worley that's for sure. But you know, it's a fight and you do take some shots. Did you notice anything as far as durability that department go up as well? I'll tell you what like there is. It's really hard for me to say, because I, I was, I actually had this conversation my wife last night, like I feel like I feel like this fight. This is my fifty, six prone, amateur, and I felt like I've never been more intimate into a fight ever in my entire career like I was so into this. I don't know if you guys can see me. I was talking him the entire fight like I, I was just so involved in even after after the fight was over there. Like the camera pans at me and I'm looking, I'm looking at my coach, but like I'm not really looking at him. I'm still like I'm still processing. And like I just I felt like a. Person whenever I was in there, and I think that was my my ability to kind of flip that switch. But there was times where like I literally would just sit in the pocket and eat those kicks just so I could call him a pussy and like. To answer your question. Yeah, man, I'm way more durable at seventy in my my I I don't feel like it's ever been kind of an issue for me at fifty five, but I'm way faster at seventy. So I get hit less. But, but yeah, I mean, I think fluid on the brain obviously is gonna is gonna do massive amounts for my ability to to take a punch. All right. All right, Jason, I hope I, I really think we should start making another strong push. We do this every so often, but I liked what you said and Kevin said, and and I think it needs to happen. I think it'd be good for business for them because it'd be yet another built for them to actually promote. You saw closely came if not for tyrants, stepping up the fight till the headline bout, Dallas would have been Valentina and Nico, and that's a championship title that hasn't even been defendant is not even year old. So they definitely could use more of these types of chips. But anyways need to keep talking about ending. Everybody. Do you know, like you say, you could fill up this the division with forty guys right now, we just need to talk about it or, you know, even even George saint-pierre he, he wants to see to the the division be made, but not enough people to talk about it. That's why we don't keep doing it. I appreciate you, James. Yeah, getting it done. Good stuff on the wind to James. We'll catch up soon when you get your next fight booking unless you already have one break on the show. Talk about taking the five. I've been home lately. Well, we we wanted to give you your profs man. That was good stuff on Saturday night. Thanks for the time, buddy guys. Thank you very much about all right folks. We are back with Johnny case. "The other i'm going to give you the reason that i wanted anything it's usually pretty funny well look i says that really much i don't have much of a leg to stand on um it's basically rockets lakers talk and these guys have a really good team the lakers win fun because i've seen some improvement but if brought we're like 10 in 2003 so we're not great is to somewhere guys are playing better collectively we just can't seem to get many wins going like we've lost six in a row too young team or a young team right and we have a lot of cap space to play with the summer yep actually we the unload the lou all dang contract yes then we can bring in two stars and still have a pretty good draft as long as we don't land between two and five otherwise we have to give our pick to the boston celtics so anyway um there's really not much bragging the be done other than that i will say this when the boy's lose the usually compete like in houston it took to overtime for them to beat us we didn't even have lonzo ball minali lotta gasic decline on lonzo ball because um i think the dad has gotten everyone of you hate on the kid but lonzo ball usually gives us like twelve points eight assists a boards yeah which i always say it's close to triple double because nearly is but you know usually when russell westbrook is you triple does eight forty two points in firkin twelve and thirteen also that's a triple double when you have a of shallow two points and then he has to go with it but still lonzo like 19 and skinny he's got a still fill out here he doesn't turn the ball over much his shot is ugly i get that um.

"Well i think the thing that stood out to me was when you talk about cyborg in what her places amongst history there's so many she's been so destructive that you haven't seen everything she can do true and there were like little holes that people could polka and it's not because she's weaken that department should see some really seen it and i think she was able to fill a lot of those you know she faced a counter striker she took some good shots she bled rachit the bloody nose and she went the full five round and i patchy looked pretty solid in every round so now it's it's kind of like if you thought chris i work with a nightmare before now after this on of experience man i am the crew cyborg is pound for pound the best female fighter on the planet right now just measuring her up against the other champions right away her resumes the most impressive she you know she now has everything you look for in these great fighters all that stuff that win over the rose bowl juice yesterday when georgia in oklahoma or kicking off it was great man the military saying like a different version of its the batman looking one right yes uh although starspangled banner in other words the same song but just the you know high and low than it was like a course and as they were doing it you just saw coming over arroyo succo which is where pasadena california is where the rose bowl is and it slowly coming over and then beaumont me he nailed it he went right over the stadium just really really low kind of like a house stealth bombers should go i'll only one of them and it was cool man was breathtaking honestly as the best beckoned.
