"Night aptly named. So I am going to talk about Halloween sadism boy. It sounds worse than it is although it is pretty. Yes sadism is usually not good. Yeah. So Halloween sadism are crimes committed using Halloween treats our customs with it most often being associated with tampering with candy handed out during trick or treating. "If you want to jump in if you remember any of them are three one two nine eight one seven two hundred let's see a one five says where I grew up south of I eighty every year around Halloween we heard about a cult the cult that kidnapped blind virgins and never had any confirm police reports yeah I don't think that's real to an area because it's a Nick I was wondering have you or your crew ever seen a ghost or experienced anything creepy I'm you know right well I work at a bar called Simons on hung out of our call sign is which is still obviously a great a great place it's in Andersonville and it's supposed to be haunted they've been of the talk about that that is that is haunted and I remembered there were it was probably just all and you know it's probably just because you know because it was late at night I drugs closing up the bar and I went downstairs because the the cooler was downstairs not still is I would imagine and it in order to like shut the cooler if you need to like shot to shot the cooler down for for summer whatever you need to walk around the back of the cooler and result it was a very narrow very dark hallway and I went around the corner one night and I heard a sound I kind of turned I thought I saw something I just booked what no stairs to come out here so but I don't know you read anything like that ever Avenue yeah the new four hundred Peter is super duper haunted it is super duper haunted hopefully that doesn't scare anybody away but there was an incident where we were opening up and usually about two o'clock we get our deliveries and things like that you know you get the extra popcorn seeds soda yeah so to stuff so Sir and Pepsi guy comes in and there's my manager and assistant manager and they they just like Hey here's a receipt that you are just bring it back to the soda class yeah sure sure sure so he takes the big Dolly full soda he goes back down the hallway and the way it is is that the the four hundred there's just one hallway going in and then the side hallway that takes it to more theaters so there's two theaters in one hallway two more theaters outside hallway he goes any on those the sort of stuff and he comes back and he says are you guys open right now and managed now now we don't open for at least another hour and he says river all I think there's someone in the theater and they're like really you do you see some is a gas all was all woman she's foreign like kind of like a white a dress or something like that Canada SR us are going to theater number four which is down this hallway yeah to the right so my manager so off they go they go back there they see nothing at all the lights are off they haven't even turned on the projectors to warm up yet yeah they go back to the Pepsi guy and they're just like yeah there's nobody here it's literally just us were the first people here we walked in maybe fifteen minutes ago yeah and the Pepsi you they said that the Pepsi guy had the whitest face he he just all those another blood left his face he's like no I saw it I just saw this woman in white and they're like no she's not here and I see when I worked there you know sometimes you have late nights clean enough yeah yeah the last shows you can definitely feel something yeah everybody clean those fears real quick yeah and if you stayed to we used to say that if you stake you have to be quick cleanings if you stay too long but does get upset they want you to leave yeah I wanted to go home because this is where they were wow so we've had and we've had customers say something like Hey you know chili spots all of a sudden yeah and things like that I mean it's the theater itself is over a hundred years old you know is a lot of history there yeah yeah I'm so I think a lot of old theaters are probably have some sort of feel like that to him yeah I've got the music box probably has a few few hauntings yeah something like that so I mean you know that's interesting wow freaking out the Pepsi act good thing it was a good thing it wasn't a coke guy no well funny enough funny enough that Pepsi I never came back so it is a different but the guy from that on their own there you go all right we got some Halloween hoaxes that were talking about here we were just talking about this terrifying story about this pseudo documentary that aired on the BBC one night in nineteen ninety two on Halloween night and it was called ghost watch and it was so realistically shown the people actually believe that may cause death and and and it it almost all kinds of weird stuff but how about this changers tampering with candy every kid knows the routine once you get home you'll surrender your loot to the nearest adult who will scour the bag for needles are drugs and probably their favorite candy it's annoying but necessary right it sure beats swallowing a needle except here's the thing the whole tainted calling candy thing is nothing but false fear mongering it was bit basically never happened as proven in nineteen eighty five what a sociologist from the university of Delaware named Jole bass decided to study the issue after studying everything from news stories to police reports he found that there were nearly no stories of candy actually being tampered with of the eighty plus stories he investigated about needles a razor blades inserted into candy virtually all of them wound up being hoaxes objects put there by the kids themselves for attention it wasn't evil strangers our neighbors wanting to hurt anyone in the few cases where somebody did tamper with candy was almost always somebody the kids knew in nineteen seventy five year old boy in Michigan died when obscenely large amount of heroin in his system Erin was found on his candy but police later found out that the drugs to belong to his uncle who would lace the boys candy after the fact to trying for authorities off his sent my god four years later Ronald o'brien and his neighbor took their kids trick or treating at one house so Brian gave the kids a giant pixy Stik that he said someone at the door and handed him later his eight year old son died from ingesting the poison candy it was a stranger to deliberately laced the candy though it was his own father o'brien wanted to cash on his son's life insurance policy so we did the deed and got to Mexico he executed nineteen eighty four this is horrifying stuff the fear of what's in our trick or treat bags peaked in two thousand with the only confirmed case of strangers tampering with Halloween candy bore handing it out James Joseph Smith stuck needles into snickers bars and was arrested but it's tampering because only one minor injury and no deaths wow that's terrifying yeah but I mean again it's extremely isolated yeah and my mom used to make me fork over the candy she would check it maybe a little too much yeah well you know I don't know of I don't remember my parents checking the candy we've got away with everything I mean listen you guys are playing with gun powder we were running around outside we which trick or treat to like ten at night you know it wasn't just gonna because now the email would when people go when kids go trick or treating they go to houses that they now or if it's a suburb it's just the one called the sack we would go to houses we I mean we would go everywhere if it was dark news no lights on the house would still go on ring the bell in the seventies man a no do you but I know some people don't I know some people don't like it but do you think it's funny because Jimmy Kimmel's gonna do it again this year do you think the videos of of of parents telling their kids that they ate their candy and then the kids reacted to do you think that's funny because I do I I'm so on the fence about it because I think it's a little bit funny like I definitely some of them I get a chuckle and I always get like a little bit of a heart warming feeling when you have some of the kids are like that's okay yeah you must have been hungry like they're so sweet about it now but I think it's kind of a mean it is titling I think is super cruel it is and I where is the question about it and and I and I totally understand why people object to it and you know like it's videos about making kids cry yeah and you know you don't want to do that you don't want your kid to cry you wanna make your kid cry but I don't I I I laughed my **** off yeah every year at those at those videos that he's doing it again this year he talked about so we talked about it last night they're gonna error and it beginning next week but I I hope it's funny I know I don't care and I know deep down I know it's cruel and you know it in it and I if I had a kid I would want to make the kid cry but for some reason it just cracks me up and like you said the varying reactions that these kids have my favorites are the ones when they when they got no you know you didn't Jimmy Kimmel told she said yeah those are those are my favorite gym when the when the kids know if the Jimmy Kimmel bit okay eight all your candy we didn't we didn't yet you're give you're doing this for Jimmy Kimmel yeah I was like a six year old kid probably shouldn't even know who Jimmy Kimmel is yeah it sounded way past his bedtime okay well tell ten thirty at night you know and but now but I you know because he he talked about it last night because I got to see a little bit of monologue before I came to work yeah and absolutely gonna watch if people were like people because he's right if it in the bin if the beginning of the show he was like the people ask me this year we're going to still do the the videos of of parents telling their kids that they ate their candy and he's like we are absolutely going to do it again this is one of it's it's like the same thing with the mean tweets it's still funny well yeah you it it's just a recurring mean tweets is funny too mean tweets funny I will say one of the funnies instances of something like that someone lying to someone and just like totally put him through the ringer was when dean pretended to be Billy Chahal man yeah I saw that footage and I was like aw this is horrible yeah it's so yeah yeah at least those people are grown adults that vessel.
