"Could you go. Anywhere was chaos Yeah they came in full force. Yeah that's the only way to put it and my first here's From chapel hill so that's chaos chaos. Yeah it's it's decent But when i got here. I was so under the radar man. I could go play. You play basketball. Play sometimes oh you look like you look like you should play more proposed but now since since since this season since this finals run nowhere wilder but you appreciate it. This these are the people that were pakistan's these are the people that were packing the stands when we were in milwaukee plan via and especially after not having fans for a year for a calendar year in in coming back in. Its place rock. I couldn't by anything. I literally tried to buy some hats. Jerseys for my kids. They were like our sold out. Nike and nike was like. We're not we we're we can't supply again until the following season so like everything. Every place around here was sold out. What was the Gimme one instance that happened. You're like okay. This is different in terms of off the court. Just like going into a place and they was like ryder finals. It was i was going to costco. 'cause i need things. Okay pick up a slice of pizza. I just want Quick do samples. Now they're both. I love the gospel. Sanso i was just trying to pick up the lanes like i needed a fan for the garage needed this that and the other maybe pick up some food. I left with maybe three things. You always go to costco. You're gonna spend like three hundred dollars minimum. Yeah i spent like fifty bucks because you gotta get out had to get out. Yeah i spent like forty five minutes in their three things in my car. And i'm like you know what vip amazon come at it at a time when jack year. Yeah and if somebody's excited to see you and there's somebody that might make their day if you can spend a minute to make their day. I'll do it but then it was just like a whole store. Kind of everybody a nice do you do it. That was the. That was the turning point because i haven't been out and around during the finals. You know you go from the gym home. Sleep recovered get back to the. Jim tried to play another game. Try to find. She's been china's teammate. Were those problems. Well why his teams. He played also advocate. I appreciate it as always got jokes. Okay so let let. Let's let's play also crap. You didn't play on teams now like you didn't win without me. That's fine but i went to a lot of the playoffs like twelve times. My seventeen years later he has. The same ring is fine. That's fine so a lot of rebuilding. We need to rebuild. We get. I wanna close up and talk about next year like not putting expectations on one. Talk about like your goals individually and then you want to talk about you. Then i want you to talk about the team in enchanting. I'm just here. What cheb lips man all right cam. So like that's the one of the fun things about the postseason when you have this type of like success and it doesn't mean that you're averaging twenty five through the post but you understand you understand now that you have another gear that like when i need to sit down in the stands when i need to make that rotation like i know i'm capable. What is something that you want to add to improve your individual game for your own growth and then also like ways that you can contribute to the team in add that Just playing with the ball. In my hands mom i have been very very off ball oriented and we got god's i like to have on their hands on just you know Fine shots opportunities were can't but being able to play more vol. My hands has been. It's been a big focus. I think i've made shots from your one year. two in. i think. I'll continue to make them going forward in just adding just adding everything you know like champ said you do your things you do. Well you know your role But for me. I i take an i. Try to add in. Try to just like like you said. Start with what i have what i can do. I can hang my hat on at the beginning and end of the day and then sprinkled other things as i get comfortable figuring out the team the system so i think these first two years have just have just been great in terms of what. I've been able to pick what have been able to see that. Okay i need to be better at this okay. These opportunities present themselves. Okay i can take advantage of these opportunities so just added that in on then continuing to to compete on the defensive end off in high high-school college guy had the reputation of not defending anything. Mike coach jamie dixon pulled out a chair. My freshman practice it random. It'd be practicing just started yelling at me telling me i couldn't guard the chair. Coaching practice. Everybody and by the way. I've known jamie dixon's since i was like zone. Say that's my guy. Yeah i just saw a couple of weeks. Vegas coast there member yet in with him and bin helen. Him and bin halley. I used to feed cat house. Big like everybody goes to flagstaff. The team gets passed. How so since those days. It's always been like all right approved that can defend people and that i think has probably been my big improvement since since college and i think there is still a long way to go in terms of fully realized that flushing that out in getting to their okay sweet champ. This year your team. Now you understand. That last year was a different year. I think everybody understands that. It's it's part of the ebbs and flows the nba. Would you want to see from this team where he like you. You guys are going to be one of the best teams in the western conference. You resigned chris. Paul you guys bring him back all your guys Championship is still the goal right. But what would what do you want to see as far as growth and improvement because it's hard to win a championship is hard to get to the finals every year. But you can still be getting better every single year right so for me. It's like we said before last year which was having championship moments every game. Every game should be a championship experience. You should learn something that can you could add to your toolbox that will help you when you get a champion moment but if you look at teams like the way i think about it is if we're going to continue to have this grove. Your your natural response is to say okay. What do i add right before you say okay. Worldwide double down. Where can i become more efficient. What my base you know so for us we are team. Shares the ball. Can we be better sharing a ball. You know we're a great shooting team. Can we improve our shot quality. Those are the things that we do. Well let's continue to do those well but even more efficiently before we add things because the first thing you assume like hey last year a good office a team right so we're going to be good. We're going we just show up will be just as good offensively as we were last year this year. And if i could add to my game if we can add this dynamic maybe we can beat a team like milwaukee. Well that's not Like every year is different in the only way you get to. That point is being true to who you are. More efficient with you do while throughout the course of the year was championship moments. You stack it so that that's my folks who are team defensively were defense first team. Let's not forget that and then offensively let's share the game a little bit more. So that when we get into those moments cam said is just not devon chris. It's okay they can. Go governor. Chris but the andre scoring camping it up to balance and mikhail concrete on his own. And you look guys come with our bench like campaign. We want to be dynamic where they don't know what we're gonna hit them because we are not. We don't have the right and we're not going to be that type of team. We're not gonna try to play that type of way because we're team we're a team. I like a collective was a good answer. That's why one executive year the smart guy or whatever without ever you little executive enough in our for. Richard jefferson channing. Frye and you know clifton. That was terrible exit. I'm not good at this yet again. How do how do i exit. How do i close you. Say normally Yeah these other. Alleged of thanksgiving is actually doing to bow vow. That was our close..

"Three three four two in arizona. We're so excited to be here with fan duel at the footprint center launching the sportsbook. I'm here with cam. Johnson james jones and of course frye channing just kind of glossed over the executive of the year thing. He's like look. Like i know you won the executive of the year. What two years ago. That is whatever's fifteen minutes ago. My point is this as you're not their camp so you're going to have to hold on here as former players and i can know this enchanting noses we know basketball's what we did who we were. How how where does this rank that is ward. I know you didn't win the championship this year. But like as far as like looking for that validation on respect in your new craft would that award mean. I mean a lot for for for me personally just because it's something that you don't i didn't set out to do that and more importantly i feel grateful for my teammates. My coaches players. Everyone that works worse for the efforts in their abilities. Because without your team being good without winning games it doesn't happen in so they won that award for me and it just gives me you know just energizes me to go out and do as much as i can to help them. Because it's a team effort but it's definitely something get something nice for cam. 'cause rod thorn when he drafted me he won executive of the year right and then he got us again to to get you anything no i got to the final trip to the jazzy contract. Micah contract it is ninety. Get executive of the year while you were playing on the team z. Now no cpa. The cpa cpa was definitely a gift to you got. That look and this is where. I was so fortunate my rookie year. I get drafted. I had jason. Kidd is a similar type floor leader like competitor like playmaker. So it makes the game social you cut the game. Short may game like this segment is in. We're gonna. I'm gonna do everything i have it why. I say mayor very turbo turbo rigid. I was over at hanging out of richard house small. Damn this can't be real life at emily grows. It'll be like chaining this is not an mba is came from. He came from san antonio which was different culture place. Yeah when you're in a bad team just it does make you like dang out enough i loved so woven by fifty eight so i wanna talk about some of your As you say and are arizona boy while cat number one pick. He made some tremendous growth this year. And i'm not gonna lie. I'm gonna sit up here and say that. I have complained about the andre before when i saw him shooting threes when i saw him shooting jump doesn't mean he's not scaler doesn't have that ability but i'm mike. This is built like david robinson. Like yes that should be in a cherry on top what he can do. But like when you guys brought in chris paul and you could see kind of like how his game started to really mold into a dominant dominant big man not just a role in you know role role to the ram but hosts moves. Suppose work like wizard like an individual thing that you had a conversation with them because his game started to volve in in a much quicker once in the probably the last eighteen months i just told him to try to. I try to simplify form until him to focus on things in areas where he dominate right like you. If you think about where he can excel the most those areas. We can help our team. A team is built on the perimeter and the entire interiors is his. So you wanna score down near. You're not fighting competing with anyone else. We'll see no one else in an attack that and so it's like don't stand. Shooting threes are are are guards. Do that and you won't find them down there trying to post up. Take your jump. Look yeah so. He embraced it. And i think with chris in our team may just a chemistry amongst team that allow him to find his own. Because you know big guys all the big guys were nothing worse than a big man that just wanted. You got strange. Ratchet they treat ratchet says like shooter reasons to williams because of this guy goes channing. If you're going to be a specialist the specialist. there is a there. There's room for you. This league for a long time and i said really he goes man when i was in phoenix. Did this channing. You have an opportunity. Where do i go next year. I came to phoenix and absolutely barbecue. Whole farm cute and the rest and we wanna chip on it. Because if you can't double team the best player then that then it's not me then we're playing. That is a skill that is a thing that tees pay a lot of money for playing four four with a guy like devon booker and gendre. Eidan roland make you know lots of dollars. Don't be fooled by this. I'm not posting. Play with kevin love and brown. I don't need to go down there and come enough piloting. Ken returns nobody quarter. And i can shoot as good. I found his own. He found his own house so happy. I was so happy. Because it was like i saw him dominated arizona mainly on the interior but he's skilled. But it's like david robinson when you make that comparison it's like the physicality the size of buildings run. It's not like a like david. robinson wasn't shack. He was a skilled big men. You know we're older. So it's the rick smits at the patrick. You is also trying to take away your growth of your skill but like you can see that. There was a trend of like more not to your point the area where you could help. The team most are where they needed. The most help wasn't getting the most attention to run right. And that was the part for me. Where i'm like dude. You could be one of the best big man of this era for the next fifteen years. 'cause he's only what twenty six hundred eighteen right now. I'm not great with gauges like christ closes some southern around something along those lines but go ahead. I'll say as a big man. The most dangerous in the most in the best part feels great is when your mind is quiet when you go onto a game. You don't have to do anything that is you said a. I'm not trying to do a little bit of you. Limited when i saw him catch the ball. Look take a dribble in finnish over a two guard. That was on the bottom weeks. I was like he gets. He's not in a rush. he's not trying to like junk on three. Have a mike in your most. He's not trying to do this. I felt like his mind was quiet in a sense where he was like. I just got a run here do this. I catch i look in a corner. Nobody's there that i look. Oh you you'll shrimp get this baby onto st finish. And when he started doing that teams like oh dang russian right then. He was kitchen behind the lobs news. Just doing things that were so simple that he goes. He started his confidence from his energy. Started changing defensively. Yes where he was stopping the stopping the ball and getting back to his man on the bright which is one of the hardest things at doing. Nba as a big man. Especially when you guys rolling behind you politically gifted yourself listen. I'm a positional defender amid position. Me playing defense. Has i think fifty. I'm their coach. i'm there. I just sees i gotta i gotta get the flexible on the air for you. Take this to be up by the time. Get back down. Cow i want. I'm sorry ken this. The locker room was like this outer shumpert in kyrie ju -gratulations on trump on dancing with the stars. That means sometimes. Yeah he's doing. What the stars that. It was on the texts. Okay congrats man. that's versus. He gonna win it.

"james jones" Discussed on Road Trippin': Richard vs. Channing

"Them here in phoenix. I mean we'll all those teams had a common thread. Every gonna team loved to compete at everything basketball related so when you stepped on the floor and you play one on one. Every guy wants to win playing five one five and you keep score. Who's getting defensive. Stops every team wants to win. You don't find very many guys on our team now. You won't find a guy on our team like you can have that one 'cause you can have that when i'll get the next one. Msf culture of working Competition so if you think about like college environment using your in college all guys do is play basketball compete at everything force one on one sprint. Drills suicide drills and so we wanted to make sure that we had the types of guys that would embrace working competition and and that's what they shine so when we look at us on the floor. Sometimes we're going to be outmanned physically some nights we're going to have more talent in but our guys will always step on say they won't out to beat us they won't work and that's where they get their confidence. So what one one more with. When we're talking about chris paul having dinner at the house right that sounded like a hundred dinners. We had during our chance. We dinner some drinks in like it was but it was. We go over to bronze house or we would go over to k. Loves house and we will just do a dinner and just be around each other and even when we were at noida with each other. We couldn't stand each other or like people were be in not in a negative way like an a brother way like we understood the importance of being around each other. The chris paul edition like having that leader there. What what would that mean in like. Do you see similar. Because i've never played with chris paul so like but you know. He's obviously a hall of famer. He's legend but like are there similarities between him and braun and how they try and bring people together to push towards a goal Care about their teammates right. And that's the most important thing for them is is not just winning but helping their teammates win right and and there aren't any limits to how far they will go to help their team win so that means having dinners great de means bringing guys in in listening to that means spending extra time away like going to a guy a mean guy where he is to bring them up to where you wanna go. That's what those guys do. Because that's their nature. Nature is leaders is to to lead team to victory. And so having. Chris a guy that if you ask anyone who's ever play with chris. He's the most competitive guy. All he wants to do is win but he doesn't want to win for himself. Wants to win for the team and genuine. So it's not tough to take criticism from them because you know where it's coming from. It's not hey you're holding me back from winning. He's like no. This is holding you back from winning so listen to me. So that's why he's been so instrumental. I think one thing that i've always noticed about. You is your assessment of talent is pretty dang spot on right and i've watched as you worked away pretty quickly up to obviously got executive of the year. Whatever but like for me just whatever young players but for me right in we we we talk about everything whenever we see each other. You know you always have friends teammates. Who like when you see him. You feel like you've never. I've seen you every single. It's just one of those things and so talks about college. What is one thing you look for in college players guys. You wanna drafter guys. You want here right. What is like to traits or three traits again. You said competitiveness. They want to compete. What are some other things so people listen is like. Hey you don't have to be the best shooter right now. Made the best rebounder. But you've got to compete. You gotta try those so those behaviors right competition working part like those are just your actions ship your behavioral patterns. Like you're gonna come every day and you're gonna give what you have. I look for capacity. I think what happens in in our game too much people talk about potential. A guy potentially can do something. You can't shoot now. But if he works at it in two years maybe he'll be able to play while i understand as a player at this level. When you're playing against the best in the world you have to have something you can hang your hat on every night. That gives you confidence. That if i do what. I'm supposed to continue to work on these other things. I can survive and so for me i look at a college guy who has experienced has been there. Three or four years demonstrated over three or four years. He can rebound at a high level. He can pass at a high level he can shoot at a high level. I'm confident when he comes in and he'll say okay. I may not be bigger than him. I may not be faster. May take time may take time for the game to slow down but my identity is. I know i can score and i've been scoring for three or four years and even when things are bad i can lean on so i'm looking for guys that bad the capacity to do the things that translate here if you can defend their multiple ways to defend the team defender whatever. But that's what it's about this episode road trip and is brought to you by bourbon. I even if you don't have a traditional nine to five schedule. "Right so i always talk about. He talked about defense like more than anything in the playoffs is all defense. Your best players are gonna take the shots you know. Chris is gonna take twenty shots. Dem's gonna take twenty shots you're gonna get three or four. You have to take three or four really good shots. You can't make mistakes on defense because in the playoffs. One bad rotation is a run. Your subbed out. You might not play another game with what i saw with our younger guys. Formula i Playoff series i game was just their attention to defend the rotations in. So you see. Some instances were five six passes. I'm thinking like all right. Young guy weakside low It's gonna be a breakdown in nearby spot. Okay the next game. Same thing eight passes logoi supposed to tag close out for some baseline I was expecting it to be a wide open shot and we made them do something differently. And so like. I had a chance to see them in those defense moments. While i'm expecting all right that's pg pg is going to win this match up. And i might be held his own. Yeah that's growth. Where young is i said. Okay if they're comfortable and confident in those moments now. I can't imagine what they're going to be like after the end of this series and gain confidence to say. Hey man we just did that. Oh man what's am beating the lakers. Now being the lakers in the first round that we understand respectfully that they weren't one hundred percent. But you still beat the lakers. Lebron james on that floor They had a ton of guys with a ton experience and they were the defending champs. Like when you guys and look. I know sometimes people say oh. You're too young to really know what's going on now. That's out your damn. I if anything. I'm young in somewhat starry-eyed right like what was that like going against the greatest player of this era defending champion defending finals. Mvp like did that ramp up your focus. Was that something that you were kind of. Did you have that moment. Where like holy shit like. We're playing against the lakers in the playoffs It wasn't until we won the series in that was the first time lebron's loss in the first round. Yeah it was like. Oh oh you realize that. It's never easy to be. A team led by lebron james. You know that going in. That's why being champion channing. Kinda attached are the in this great big fella and look i mean so. We have seen them at the end of the regular seasons. Yeah and you could tell that you just felt like we were destined. See them in the first round. You could tell that the chippiness is starting to come into play in all that. So i think for us like i said before. We didn't know what to expect. So you'll give us lebron jason. Los angeles lakers in the first round. And we don't have anything to compare it to. All we know is that we got to go out there and charles best. Yeah give everything. We got pay attention. That's gone report for that. You know couple days in between entities in that first game was so detailed. i mean. I'm would sit there with with coaches go over rotations in in assignments. And if you're guarding this guy this that guy do this. He s why all sets rules. And we're just like people don't understand like all right you pay so much more sense but you can't do that during the regular season time as give all that effort won t. You got another team. Let's do these rotates. Then you go play like old school. James harden to know rotations. Can you guard james tonight. So that that like really digging deep into lebron's tendencies Digging deep into a these tendencies. What they do it was i mean you see what makes lebron james one of the greatest boston players of all time and for him to be doing that you know. He's been in the league. Since i was seven years sore three years. Okay so so now you understand because you might not be a vet per se from mike your years but you want you on postseason run once. He's thirty seven years old. He's in his second year. And like once you go once you're vet from playoff standpoint you kinda like approach the regular season yet to kashani. I you take us it. It's okay it's like once you get there you're kinda like man this regular season ain't shit right because it's like you start to understand that your brain has a different gear like oh yeah although night but this was three games in four nights but once we get to lock in. There's a confidence that you guys get a group. What was something that you guys talk about. like privately. Light when the coaches were gone when this was gone with was their level of accountability for each other was their level of picking each other up because even in that first round. I believe you guys were down with to want you down to one. At one point lebron over there shimmy he over there salsa dancing and stuff. You know what what was that kind of like. Hey we got to pick ourselves up. We all watched the lakers warriors together at cps house smartened at halftime the game. It was like a giant meeting. Just everybody just huddled around outside. It was basically like all right. Let's talk about this. Yeah either one of these teams will be playing and guys who have been in the playoffs before. Say what you need to say and guys who had say whatever you felt like you said and i remember j. like saying guys. I just came off a championship. Run and the biggest thing that that is required. Is that kind of connectedness. That kind of ability to withstand going down to one in a series and being able to bounce back and then he looked all of us news. Like i need to know that you know when when we're on the court together that if i look around the core. I know that you'll have my back. 'cause y'all know that i have your back and so just moments like that kind of set the stage for us i felt to be able to handle Whatever was thrown at us and to just go out there and compete. I think we carried that throughout the throughout the whole entire playoffs anytime you know whether it would be. Cpa missing some time or guys get nicked up or teams winning games that were close ones or hard-fought one's not so the sons culture is been you know i was here in two thousand ten to fourteen fifteen in that was a different culture. Who's winning culture right not obviously not to the nba finals. But we want a lot of games. We had a healthy team With stephen grant tomorrow we're here until the new culture this team. What is that in. How do you continually to. the right. word isn't engage it. But how do you put another step on top of that this year. I think that the biggest thing is were a working team. Where team too. So you hear a lot of when you get to the nba super individual. Will you know you're not going to have great Through teammates but i think our whole team has those are bad teams by the way so those are only here. Here's a story like. Oh you're lottery pig. Usually go to your people say it takes away your love of the game with the business all these things but my two years here like it's felt more like college where you have relationships with your teams spent time with them and you like you know you honestly feel like you're you're playing for the city you know you have your plan for your guys around you rather than just go out rate city. The city is a great able field both feed into research anew anew from phoenix forty four school now it's five just don't wanna repair the donald pick blossom labor school in highschool moon area there. We go z. Yes come on to the moon.

"Special edition of road trimming aqua jefferson hosting. So you know this is going to be weird. I'm just replacing allie clifton. Who's got a little bit of a break right now. But we're so excited to be part of the vandals sportsbook launch here in arizona. And with that we have to amazing wall jennings here to no one cares about that. We had to amazing guest camp johnson in james jones aka champ. How're you doing champ. I'm jay we're gonna talk over to talk over the young fella here when do some grown out. Joe thank you thank forever. He's twenty five. I know he did his homework and did this homework. Drafted crazy age. I'd say twenty five my whole career. I didn't know they drafted people that old unless you were like from africa. Vivid like the candidate who was like said he was surgeon baca now. These aren't civil. There's always rumors about how old how old some of these guys over no never know. Thanks for not lying. Can't strike back. So i don't think i could hide it. No so every you had a well documented this year you know anything about camps history. I want to north carolina. Do you know where he started it. Nope i know we've got a jumping. Mba honest. i don't like college basketball except the university. Arizona fairly is unrealistic. it's I think it's just. It doesn't relate as much but i thought cam watching new rookie year to where you are now seen progression. I thought you were huge for them to be the sons of being successful issue. So all what you didn't college does not matter to me that one day. I don't want four championships who you were in college. Now you weren't mba in your winner an mba which is all that matters. But he did have one of the coolest draft moments of all time that didn't include him the like literally. Why the coolest rapper. You know what i'm talking about. Yeah kobe. Kobe was just like whoa. Wow yeah they drafted yeah. There's one thing that i was. I think the draft is is also. It's awesome you know whatever turned to hype if you could play for real announcer. But that's not the channing when when you're young and it's the best lead you get old and jaded your life. Why these kids are excited. They're gonna get traded a couple of years grand moment ever got drafted new york. You excited we got traded from europe. I was sort excited because it was a new chance and actually got to play with jay right and that was weird. He was only year. You didn't make the playoffs. Talent really the team right and not to go off on a tangent eye noticeably like i try to tell people about how good brand roy was was absolutely had to be there to see it in Someone like like. I got a little bit of heat when i referenced cade cunningham but when you watch him play i'm not saying he's like brennan roy who when you watch his pace of play like he's not like moving super fast. He's super under control. Understands the flow. Get brandon. Roy used to cook people in like people who just always like. How's he doing. And he was always that way. He was that way in washington. The boil people boy just like those on a low end of the game. He has like thirty thirty in the meets. Fall on the bone I mean he used to call that one play dry. I go on one free throw line. Yeah it'd be like to down clear even like chaining otherside dang. Okay my bad. I get it whether it was kobe. Runner tasked with new care. linko tastes prints. He would just use one or two. Jeff st moves face a pull up jumper. It was just a matter that was tough. Well before we get going too much and good down memory lane three cam. I wanna talk a little bit about your experience this year. i had. I had the pleasure of going to the finals. My first two years losing so. I completely understand where you're going where you're from channing. Never had that type of success of james jones did he just won championships. But take me through this experience. Taking through this experience this year you had last year. You had the bubble. You guys were kind of building something and then this year you come in and did you kind of know. What was it different when you guys added chris paul. Was there something that you're like. Oh this year's going to be different. Yeah i think. The bubble gives a lot of confidence going forward. But i think we're on record of saying i know there's a couple of clips a couple of interviews. We did early in the season like you know. Typical preseason stuff. But they're like how like. How far do you guys can. You can take this and we're all looking all the way all of you lighter. We had a lot of confidence in. We got a lot of guys and guys fill roles got to do a lot of things going into season. I think i think we there. I think we knew what we had a chance to compete for Did you did you really understand how hard it is. Because that's what you know. Champion eilly we we been through the battles channing. All of us had been playoffs before. And this was really i know. The bubble was kind of an introduction to it. But like did you guys fully understand. How like much of a roller coaster emotionally physically. Like not having chris for certain portions and just you know. Did you understand how like emotionally draining like a finals. Run is no but they all told us champ c. p. everybody jay everybody that have been to these points had told us that all these things are possible so i think in guys that had been there myself mikhail book. Da anna a playoff like situation. Just assumed everything's gonna be cranked to the max. Oh nothing like. Don't let anything catch you by surprise. Can't say we're specifically like a. We know exactly what you can get thrown at us but we were like all right. Throw whatever throw whatever it takes edis. What is one thing that you realize about yourself like in a good way where you're like damn. I didn't know i could go that hard. Or if i just locked in defensively or if i you know lift this type of like what is one thing. Discover about yourself because until you get pushed to those limits right. You're not gonna figure that out right because you're just going to say okay. I know it could shoot according to three. I know i can go up when you start playing guys up in higher levels. You go western conference finals finals. People know you're scattered report. So are you gonna go right and cross back over you know like what is one thing that you discovered about your game in yourself through that playoff run one thing specific For me was the defensive concepts in rotations in how they kind of ratchet up obviously as a playoffs come because you know the other teams trying to run. You know their personality as much as they know arts knowing we're understanding their tendencies and so the watching it all come together and and really putting so much focus into understanding one team six or seven players. Start to hate it is. It's fun as you and you feel like you learn so much about defense in general you you can listen. Play all your life. But i learned probably more defensively in that two months than i had the whole rest of my career. Yeah well you so like like having champ in and having better because like the champ. I know you're in the front office. But i know you are involved front office. I know you communicate with guys like you're telling them what you see like. Did you see a change in your young players from the beginning. What was the message that you were kind of telling them that like. Hey we can do this but this is something that you have to pay attention to. It's going to be fucking hard. It's going to be this is going to be. That was something that you were kind of communicating. And then you're like oh they i think they might. They might be listening and understanding compete on the strength the fundamentals..

"To colts owner. Jim irsay who at the time a month away in the draft decision between you and peyton gets from hunter s. thompson. dear jane dear james james in response to your adult request for a quick thirty million dollar loan to secure the services of the manning kid. I have to say no at this time but the leaf boy is another matter. He looked strong. Manning doesn't or at least not strong enough to handle that. Welcome to the nfl. Business for two years without a world-class offensive line. How're you fixed. It left ot for the next two years. James think about it. You don't want to china back there. When that freak sap comes crashing in okay. Let me know if you need some money for leaf. I expect to be very rich when this depth movie comes out your faithful consultant hunter and it's signed h. s. t. with at the bottom scrawled in handwriting. See see john walsh. Espn and see. See colonel death. How did you come into possession of this amish cups fan. And they were in town. Last weekend i was sitting there behind the dugout and a guy in la. You're hearing ally and a guy tapped me on the shoulder and instead are you ryan. Are you ryan leaf. I said yes sir and he said man. I'm just a fan of what you're doing now with the foundation and everything like that and we talk for a little bit. He's like have you ever ever seen that the hunter s. thompson letter. I'm like no. I don't you're talking about. Would you like to see it. And i said oh yeah of course i didn't believe it for a second right and there are came in the email and i showed it to my my fiance. Who's a huge hunter s. thompson fan and we read it and i just the absurdity of the fact that a hunter s. thompson knew who i was and that he was he was trying to persuade. Missouri say to draft me instead was just comical and what not to see it for twenty.

"Because of a sonic tough men out there. Beat each other up for you know for couple of hours sunday but like if i throw up the peace sign because i blew by you. Hey i'm gonna get flagged and thrown out. Come on man like taking away. Dancing was stupid. It was a stupid thing to do and taken away with. This is dumb. They get if you're gonna run by a guy and maybe do a martial lunch lynch and grabbed yourself the knee okay. Maybe but that's the problem lies. The problem lies in. where does it get too much. And that's for for this is. We're going to see in september. Preseason up first few weeks of the year what gets called and how much. It's getting called long as they continue to bring in their teammates in have choreographed fun. Things they work on during the week. I think the free hawks or two of the best teams doing that. Over the last couple of years chiefs as well few more just. Nfl let me ask you this. So one thing. I love and we've talked about this the interception now. Everyone does it when all team runs in tony. Or are they gonna get flagged for that on the celebrating the cernan possession. You're celebrating the interception. Maybe if you're the university of miami or where to turn over chain and all that stuff in the nfl. i don't think As long as they're not doing it like on the opposing team's sideline right doing it in the end zone. I hope i've become. I've become a fan of that one. Yeah that that's pretty fun. All right a few other notes around the league as we do our grab bag here. Tj maybe we'll see some of this on hard knocks amari cooper. Finally taking off the populist. So he's going to be back cowboys. Practice jalen hurts. A lot of question marks on jalen hurts heading into this season. I want to see he plays in the preseason early notes from eagles cam heavily targeting dallas goddard and zach ertz. I think the question questions less about jalen and more about the organization's belief and jalen out there and played. Well we know he's in college. We know his skill set. What he's capable of. I think the question mark is not really about him. it's just about. Do they believe in him. Are they going to support him. But they're gonna give him a real opportunity. Are they still kind of in the shawn watson sweepstakes still looking over their shoulder as he our guy. I think that's a big thing for philadelphia going all in putting their arms around the kid and let him go out there and play. They haven't done that yet. So that's where the confusion yeah. They haven't done that. I still can't believe that. They they fired. Doug peterson still. They won the last game and then the giants would have gone to the to the playoffs or something watching that with my father the giants fan as they brought in sudden and so feld so feld men. We don't really know check. His name said fell. The dow is one of the lower moments in recent football history. I think that whole spectacle. And don't peterson was responsible for that. So i do understand wedding and it worked out. They got these smith. So i mean. What are we doing here Tj your guide here in waller one of the best tight ends in the lead sir out with the las vegas raiders. Men almost said oakland He's gonna miss his eighth straight day. Raiders scam eight straight day camp concerns. Tj your guy. What are you to spend twenty eight bucks on him fantasy coming up. Well i mean you know. I'm not a raider fan. So i don't like to go another people's cribs and and move around their furniture and talk about their decorations and stop so but from a fantasy perspective. I you know. I had darren waller great player. I'd be a little concerned. If i was a raider fan. But it's still early right. If this is the end of august for the season starting but i feel like some of these guys wanna give their bodies time to heal up and there's no reason to be out there getting beat up. Yeah i spent camp. The idea of missing eight days in the first week of august is a lot different than eight days. Closer labor here right. I don't. I still don't know who the the top pick and fantasy is the number one pick. We were talking about this. Who is the guy playing leaper league or some league where you draft. Your team is supposed to draftkings weekly fan. Yeah i would say if you're just starting fresh not not a dynasty or anything starring fresh. I go running back. I seems to be that thing is it. Is it christian. Mccaffrey do you believe that. He is fully healthy. Coming back it is going to be awesome. Dalvin cook has been kind of a touchdown machine. The last couple of seasons when he is fully healthy guys traditionally coming off. two thousand yard seasons. Don't do it again the year after without workload. So as derrick henry guy you look at or is he thinking maybe you could snag him a little bit later. Zeke was lost fifteen twenty pounds. He looks in phenomenal shape. We'll see him on a hard knocks tonight. I had number in august and it used to be that there was no ben. He was an undeniable number. One i will number one away. Ladainian tomlinson is gonna be your number one and then everybody else figure out the rest. It's not like any more. I think with any of the three christmas though. You're just starting of fantasy football when you have the first pick any of the three chris. Mccaffrey cook derrick henry. That's gonna be you're smart and you're safe bet. Because even if they don't pan out like you're never gonna kick yourself because you drafted galvin cook. And he has an off season. Just happen injury and there's nothing you can do about that. So i think i'd go with cook. I think out of all those i would take. This is my number one over. Mccaffrey anybody else. That if the number one would you have the number one. Pick the share or nine ten in the snake head probably rather have nine ten. Yeah it seems like there's more parody towards the middle opposed to truly elite guys at all. So if you wanna pick later it kind of like takes the honest onus off of you out i played pick is the worst wars auction to ours a little different. We do auction so you have a chance to get anyone want you just have to pay for them. Like last year. Mccaffrey was our highest paid player. He went for seventy two dollars so we only have a two hundred dollar budget. So what's transportationnation for the rich eisen show league. Do i have to get jumped into the league. Like how do i become. I've been associated with this show since two thousand eighteen. I tried to get a show fantasy going every year and every year brought men's like not really that interested so if he's not that interested in i kinda just go. Okay no no. What's the one where we decided we're to do one. I only like to have one team. And then rich. And i do the allison shane's fantasy cherry. We're not fans of light having multiple six. He's like yeah. That's for a guy. Unless i i need. I need dove cook the score. No twenty-five fantasy points in my one league but in the rich eisen i need daban cooked to get a hamstring injury. Got to write worse than that is hearing someone talk about that. have you. Were coming up to that time of the year. The world's opening up which is great. But you catch yourself. Some social functions and brockman. You might be like a kids thing and you're hanging around with some of the other moms and dads talking fantasy and then you catch somebody going down the rabbit hall talking about that emotional rollercoaster that you just mentioned the idea of. I'm rooting for alvin cook. But i also had to root against mccaffrey's and that's the moment of the parties. Go check on the bounce house see. That's the thing when people say that. But i disagree. I'm here for all fantasy. Taught people go. No one cares about your fantasy team. If you've got some phases us you can always talk to me. I love it. I can't get enough of it. Like i love fantasy football and you wanna tell me you wanna ask me some questions you want to tell me how you got screwed over. I'm here for your your your the fantasy whisper. I'm here can confide in you at a swanky la party. I was going to start this guy. But i put him on the bench. I think we have We found a news. Mondays segment tj. It's like what do you need tonight. Fantasy what do you need. Oh i got mccaffrey plan. He's got he's got mahomes and tyreek hill. And i got because you envision half set your line looking at the schedule. The monday night game. It's got the dolphins i got to. I think i'm gonna start on this week. 'cause i wanna watch on monday night as he wins me the week. You can envision it in your your head. I need thirty eight. And i got. I got drew..

"Like opening a pack of cards in getting the lamelo logo man. One of one like nothing. That will never happen again in your life. You couldn't even dream of that because there's no way that lamelo will ever sign something that he's not getting paid and millions of dollars for ever again. Rookie panini deal or whatever a redemption. That's the bad goodness. Oh my goodness all right. let's hit some more. Nfl news now. Sure if he saw this. Thom pillow sorrow tweeted. It out so remember a couple of years ago when they banned all endzone dances. And all that fun stuff. Yes fun league. No showing your emotions. So then they brought it back right. Actually you know what. Which was you. Choreograph yeah chorus. That was like super fun and so it seemed like the league and kind of turned a corner in that However now a rule change coming up this year point of emphasis. They officials have been instructed to strictly enforce taunting rules. This coming season two violations result in automatic ejection fines and even suspensions in play if overly egregious this means what problem with this the p. Signed like tyrod kill turning around and giving deuces to guys like that's out celebrating and taunting two different things. If you want to coordinate with your teammates where you do a gronk spike. And then everybody stands around you in a circle and falls backwards or something in unison. Right that's cool that's okay. You're celebrating but if you're taunting and you are being demeaning to your opponent you're belittling your opponent that's the stuff that gets ingrained into the culture of the game and pass down to the next generation. Nobody wants to see an eleven year old high stepping in peewee football and making fun of another an eleven year old because he saw his favorite player do that on tv. I have no problem with the choreographed celebrations. Te'o bringing out a us the pan out of his stock and signing the football right right right a cell phone underneath the goalposts. And you want to score a touchdown and call somebody like joe horn. That's fine. i'm okay with props. Chatto cinco in the hall of fame jacket. Great love it. Props them all in because it celebrate. How is high stepping showing. I mean i don't see the high stepping his tiny your journey to the db behind you pointing at him as your running past him right. I just don't want the demeaning energy around but see celebration. This comes really into now. It's a this ref might call this in this. Other ref might not Reason you're you know you're demeaning to your opponent you know when you are taunting your opponent has not fine line between celebration and taunting. It's plenty black and white. I'm sorry but like these are grown. Tough men in the man running by you in throwing up the peace sign. I mean is that really demeaning to be on the phone. That's more that could be to the whole team like yo wherein i don't know i never got the biggest point here. Kids watch that and then we'll imitate that okay. We'll watch this stuff that they should look at that. I'll get that's why they're wanting to set the example to the kid. That's where it's the problem. Well the mill. They're far no no. I know. I don't know i find that really stupid. Peter schrager good morning. Football tweeted this out as well he spoke to. Nfl officials say he said last week on the taunting said there is a significant difference in making gestures and making gestures at opposing players. I think we're going to see a lot of flags for things at opposing players member in the super bowl antoine. With junior made the peace made the deuces tyreek hill that flag in the super bowl but that was worth it. Because that was that was hormone. Totally of course of course but we're not going to see that this year and if we do it is going to get a flag. Said you know when you're taunting your opponent directly at your opponent you know that if you score a touchdown and you spike the football and if it's done in a way where you're spiking at at hammer look that's a different energy. It's all about intuition. It's all by reading into the energy behind the celebration if it's celebratory if it's joyful if it's supported by your teammates awesome and the fact that the. Nfl has grown to a place to embrace. That remember used to take the camera and they would put it off the guy in the end zone you know go back on the seem dancing and cut it and they show the coach with some papers over his mouth now. There are at least marketing. It celebrating it putting the camera on. Ob j. when he's moonwalking fine at super fun. Love that yeah. They're just trying to get rid of some of the owner. Had the at the opponent needing the winds demeaning over your touchdown dance over there would you be shoving in somebody's face. Pike can't do it now.

"Need to keep house you know it. you know. We're out working family. You know whatever field without between the family talk to the coach one one but you know every you know especially player you know so. Hopefully they could keep him happy because they need him around man. You already lost her bridges. You don't need to lose arguably the best receiver in the game. You know so whenever they gotta do keep him happy just to say rolling back from his injury so they you get off on the right foot. James jones joins the show. Nfl network analyst super bowl champion. Ben lines in for rich on the rich eisen show you notice how once i start calling out. Wide receivers james's cell phone reception kind of goes all spotty not by accident. Tapa little thing on my phone and you know static a little bit what you start talking about the wide receivers always one haven't prompts. Sorry i got back connection bringing speaking another wide receiver. I know you got big expectations for bj this year in cleveland. What are you expecting for him. This season i do man. I you know talking to him and being around him he's just hungry and it's not even on what he's saying you know it's just always looking what he's doing you know you could tell that he's just mentally ready. You could tell you know. Because when i was with him in giants for that training camp before i had a chance to go back to green bay finished my career. Ob j. was an absolute doll. Even care who told him the ball. He didn't care what rowdy was running. Just put it over there. My area and i promise you i'll make the new york is look good. I'll make you live. Look good everybody in this place. Look good and will win ballgames and when i talk to them and i see them. That's the mindset he has. He's back to that dog mentality that you know no matter what's going on a swing the ball my way and i'm gonna make play and show everybody that i'm still one of the best in this game. The said james. There's definitely a different in the appetite size. Between hungary and hungry i feel like guys are hungry. It's like a deeper level of wanting to eat. So i totally get. It was lbj. Let's stay in the division showy lamar jackson now diagnosed with cove for a second time get refusing to get vaccinated the reminder that this is going to be an issue in a conversation that will be around this upcoming season. Talk to me your thoughts just about players and their relationships with the vaccine and when you're hearing these stories come out of the different camps hausa make you feel. You should everybody who try to doing what they wanna do. Man and you know having a own opinions about the shot and things like that you know. My only thing is if you don't get the shots don't have to live in the bubble again. You know the whole season. You know it's not going to restaurants or doing all that type stuff or you know getting caught at any events that your mask off and all type stuff you're gonna be getting five by not by the nfl and all that so you're going to have to live at live in the bubble so that's what you wanna do that season you know and not get the shots. Then that's what you wanna do. You know for me. It's bigger than than than me. You know like. If i'm i'm around people every single day i'm committed to playing football season you know and i'm coming home to my little kids and my wife you know. I don't want to bring back. Nothing them so. If i was playing you know i would get the shot as as a purse as a first personal for me now for my teammates. I wouldn't be sitting there judging. I wouldn't be sitting there saying hey man to go through this. Don't do that because everybody you know has their own opinion. You know shoot. Maybe he's not taking a shot. Because you know something bad happened to somebody. I don't know you know so it's a bunch of stuff that goes on with that but for me you know if i was still playing in this game and i said okay. Look at you know. I'm going out here. You know even though people can still catch cold but you know. I'm committed to plan now. I would take the shot just to protect my family. You know that would be. That would be my my decision. So for lamar. I don't i don't know it's up to him and you know he'll he'll do what he feels right. It feelings right for him. So james jones joining the show. Nfl network analyst won a super bowl. And it's that time of year where some players start to get that. They wish they were back out. There couldn't be happier that they don't have to a days on their calendar every august when it becomes training camp time. What are your thoughts feelings party. You were still out there or are you at peace with the fact that you're able to visit these camps with andrew sicilian no instead. Hey man i am at peace. I checked out the game at the right time I know i did. Because i do not get the inch to play. I know joke and talk about it. You know act. Like i wanna come back but i bill where i'm at man and it's it's crazy. We actually i question because when i retired i went back. We want to watch the green bay. Packers and i was like man. Why am i coming to a game so early. I'm gonna walk in here and want to get back in my life on and go play a game but it was opposite. Man i got there. I've seen jordan him to melt. And all of that. And i looked at him and said i'm glad to shoot me. Brother stay healthy you know. go out there. Do you think so. I know i made the right decision. I'm at peace. I'm coaching my little kids. Now you know what i mean so i i live through them trying to get them right even though they don't listen today. Daddy they look at me like i don't know what i'm talking about but it's all good. I'm gonna keep pounding away but no man. I have fun coming to these training camps andrew. Sicilia cecilia colleen wool k. Ad of all of them. I i have a ball. Were hey james. It's chris brockman when we get ready looking at the season. Who's a team that we're not talking about that. We should be or minute the bronco every time. Somebody asks me now. Who's going to be surprised. Who's gonna come out. And you know have a playoff season and and we'd be looking like man. We were talking about a man for me. It's the broncos you know you look at this division. You know everybody's high on herbert who i am. you know. obviously you got pat mahomes and the cavs the chiefs. You have the raiders. I mean you have the broncos. I think the broncos is gonna make a lot of noise and not not only in this division but in the national football league i think one of those teams who who's going to be when we get closer to the end of the season people are not gonna wanna play man you got miller sh You know you'll have Teddy bridgewater you know starting and You know not turning that over. Think it'll be a really good football game. Appreciate the insight as always in good luck. Coaching your kids. That's gotta be a thrill for for you and for them. We appreciate you taking time. James knew the problem. Thanks be good. Parenting james jones from the nfl network. Bind him on the broncos for some. I've heard that you know talking. About underwriter t i. I'm wondering if they're just keeping the seat warm fran rogers until they can get him next year but i don't know Vic fangio said the drew lock is gonna start the first preseason game. They definitely have a quarterback competition and all out move. They traded for teddy bridgewater. Her james say he expects teddy takeover. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. But they definitely have weapons. They have very talented players at the skill positions. If von miller is back one hundred percent healthy then. I think they could be team. That could kind of fly under the radar and catch some teams by surprise the nascar cup series heads to the brickyard to take on the road course for the very first time witnessed the start of new tradition this sunday at one pm eastern on nbc. Unless he says something that we gotta talk about tomorrow Because we talked about the the rams and the niners in that division yesterday the the niners are actually the favorites small favorites win. That division would surprises me because of the a quarterback. When you have the rams or you know you've stafford great weapons on offense defense. His grades i was a little surprised at the niners favorite. There i agree. And if you think about the seattle seahawks in that division as well. Jamal adams sitting out. He just got traded from the jets over to seattle. He missed some time last year. But i think when he was playing he was a significant help He wanted out of new york. I think contractually or maybe it was because he felt disrespected i forget was but it was an entire song and dance he goes to seattle. Now he will not participate in seattle's mandatory minicamp this week Everybody assumes this contract reasons are. They gonna figure that they're going to have to that seahawks team needed a defensive help last season if they're going to plan on getting anywhere this so after the initial news an hour ago tom pelts are repeated. That jamal adams was excused for personal reasons from mansoori. Okay good news okay. Good news good news. Good news holdouts though right now aged that but could that mean like hey the the team knows like he was going to hold out and they're just saying this is how we're not gonna find you and it's not going to be a big deal. That is what nick said. Nick said that they anticipated him to hold out and they said disagree with age. I think that's what they're trying to do. Okay we do not know if that's fabulous the seahawks of saying he's gonna break the bank and get gigantic deal and they are saying yeah. We're in the middle of negotiate. We not find him for ninety three thousand dollars. Something the packers have not said savan guilt. Exergen howard we don't know how that situation is going to go but be flow said Him back i'd like him back there. Some other shit going on like who's going to be on the cover that the gate madman playing all these games. They got peyton hillis in overall saying. Wow they did it now paying. Does he could take a hay. Bale or two if he had me. Okay and the whole thing is at the barn you know and there's a couple of goat's coming out and we did it again. They did it again for a long time. He didn't want to cover a madden. Because you're going to be cursed the next year. Now you've got a great paycheck. You got a lot of clock. Your face was all over a video. Game that every. Nfl fan basically played. You're in everybody's living room bedroom doing whatever but you're going to get hurt that next year. And he was going to stop then. Tom brady. Obviously debunk that and others did. And now it's incredible honor. It's as big deal. Not for the first time ever but this year there will be two goats on the cover of madden and they wanted us guest. They wanted the world to guests against everybody had pictures. Actually it's patch monks. Tom brady coming out. June seventeenth dirty gertie took a shot at what he thinks it potentially will look like well. Everybody assumed it might've been aaron rodgers by the way because it was delayed normally. It's a couple of weeks ago. As opposed to june seventeenth. They thought maybe it's because contracts. What jersey do we put him in. I guess it's patrick. Mahomes and tom brady to guts on the cover out there. Aj how how pumped are you. I mean they deserve for sure. But how much do you think they get paid. Do you think they really do. Give them big time money. Assume tom brady patched roms. You have to write. I don't know. I feel like it's it's one of those things where it's like. Oh steetch thing. It's not about the money. i'm sure they pay him. Obviously but i don't to. Tom and patrick so you'd have to pay him a gigantic amount to actually affect him. Yeah that's what i'm saying like. I think actually have to pay him to get. Tom and pat was paying ever on the cover. I don't think so. Maybe like because collectors okay. Maybe it's because i i. I don't need to be on a pro bono. Okay i got. I gotta watch phil johnson shoot zone. Those guys Some budweiser drink. And then i got nationwide is insurance. Does buick as well watch film while come on. I got cases now. I've been telling that the chuck lately as he's starting to do something. Oh yeah the is no and then he just does it. Ships right on. The house pissing shitting everywhere. How old is he. He's in his terrible twos man. He's in terrible. we'll try. We'll try our best to get him get him right deep into it. At least he's so cute though you know he is so he'll poop and then you know in the house and And after he just took him out for five ten minutes he'll poop in the house and then he'll put those years back. You know what i mean. And then he'll walk real slow to you and ain't just gone you. Know cuddles down and then he rose on his back and his little corgi arms up like this and you just pat him and he goes well. Why do you know you did it wrong. You just put your ears back just boop outside. And then he just gets up runs away. Nothing happened and then he'll piss later in house same situation. Put it on repeat. I think for the next ten fifteen years of my life. Let's get to fucking break. Eat food stuff or does he take your food. He doesn't even my focus. It's.

"In the last year it was contract. He's holding now. What's against you money doing now. Or what's the guest. Fifteen and a half as the base salary. I'm not sure that guaranteed fifty africa. My money back guarantee fifteen. Jj on that d. line to he's probably gonna have one of the better years of his career and probably get re up. Hopefully after the whole thing because tight ends running backs whenever they chip they have to think about both sides. I mean dwight farini robert mathis are. I mean there's a lot of payers put out a tweet. I think the nfl released there. Are maybe check down. Put out a picture of the new pairings. Basically a pass rushers all anytime you see. Great pass rusher. There's a really good chance. There's another study on that defensive line as well who is allowing them to potentially be in a one on one situation or maybe even one onto situation as opposed to a one on three which does happen on defensive lineman you account a tight end ship running back chip and tackle which does happen to some people also have to think about situations there in some guys. Some pass rushers get a lot more opportunities now with chandler jones. I think not only adding. Jj did the d. line will help it. Hopefully that offense we know. They have a ton of weapons in cairo. Stays healthy their offense is gonna be get jump out early. Leads other teams have to throw the ball a lot more opportunities. russia pass. Yeah that's bill polian. Allegedly that was his actual plan. We got peyton will score when we score what happens. We have to lead. What do they have to do. They have to pass the ball. Let's get to great pass rushers. And then let's get a safety in there that's like that was an actual strategy. That was had an very successful for a long long time freeman. Mathis fun to watch. I think chandler. Jj have the chance to be a lot of fun to watch chandler's saying this could be funny. I got one year left on my deal though. No guaranteed money. So we're we're going to revisit that that get settled obviously for the sake of the bird gang out there in the middle of the desert exemption power okay. The nfl leader in interceptions for the miami dolphins who signed a massive contract. Just two years ago is now sitting out because his daring teed money next year would make him the number six overall pay our highest paid corner in the nfl number one would be his byron joe the other corner for the dolphins. He has three years left on his deal for years. Left on his deal. Still at this point is guaranteed. Money is down though Brian floor is basically is come out and said i think this is a contract issue. We've talked about it behind the scenes. I want him to be on the team. It's pretty clear that this is a contract situation though he said so. You can't pay everybody on your defense a lot of money now. They figured out how to do it. They're able to pay. Exorbitant howard and then also byron jones jones a massive contract within two years two elite by the way another position that does help each other especially if one corners a shutdown corner. They're probably gonna throw the other way. If you're a great corner you're not normally getting as many balls as the great corners who have another great corner on the other side of them. That happens so can lead the league interceptions because they have to great corners out there. He wants get paid. You're paying calvin still up in new england. You just cut him after two years into a deal. That's going to be tough to figure out. But hopefully they're able to do it. They just pedro baker the other day. Two three years thirty nine. Dan orlovsky said that team. One good quarterback play away from the super bowl. Your thoughts on the contract should on defense aside there. Well i mean it all depends on to it and what reports are of the eastern five picks today in many torrential downpour. Defense though i five. Bits five three and they're not a through ball as hard as like a torrential downpour though it sounds like it's the monsoon shout to him for not having a little bit of. I think my elbows walked outside saw. That saw that rain saw the forecast and he didn't even think that. And here's a couple of days for those practices that mean absolutely nothing but we have a punt period and people are going to see it and you walked outside and it's just incredibly windy. Your mother fucker. I could never have enough power to act. Like i was hurt but i did have to embarrass myself in these practices. That meant absolutely nothing which was awesome. Remember though for betting the season if it looks like might be some rain in the forecast for dolphins game go in and bet against that. Lock it on the flip side. If the dolphins are playing the patriots potentially bill belichick's out there just squeezing entire water bottles on the holders hands the snappers hands as it's raining. Trying to simulate what to is going through right now. That's what the new england patriots are trying to do random day in the middle of june. I mean we're talking about torrential downpours in miami we just had regular downpours in new england. You gotta add the water bottle on a jake. Bailey's hand to simulate a downpour. I keep my hands. Okay dry on purpose you. You drafted a smart player. Okay don't need. You sprained my fucking hands. Well the miami. Keep my hands in the goddamn pockets and then literally as soon as we were. Good leeson's are very dry. Got a towel the whole thing now. Let's make it how okay well. We're in waste. Rep this balls. Going right through my fucking. What are we going to do. These gloves aren't supposed to be when they know a also even even if the game is being played and it's raining pretty hard. the ball is usually not wet. They those balls out every play they have under the ball can't just look to the rest and decide they'll they'll pretty new all and every play a dry ball and so that's why the bought like winter. Wet ball drill. Sometimes you can get a little carried away with him. I i i'd say..

Dan orlovsky pedro baker three years new england fifteen chandler jones one year last year next year Brian byron jones jones peyton fifty today farini robert mathis russia both sides chandler Jj Fifteen and a half

"Everything i said. Nah i'm i'm not going to put more stuff into my body. I'm still a young guy i stay. I already have my first child. I have a wise. Let's i sacrificed a lot the sport and it's time to go time to say goodbye but now i'm blessed obviously to talk about it. Yeah and it's it's amazing. Actually i have a nonprofit gridiron imports. you don't know that I did my research. I knew that and you re we started that five years ago with my ex high school. Chris answer my own high school coach and and we both started because we wanted to give more international players. You know like a pathway like build a bridge man we have like over thirty division one players out of europe already last five plays and there's so many more kids who just decided manakin do it. I'll because i was one of the first was the bachelor former. Fbi ready to go and there was also other programs by like today. It wasn't normal for kids who say you know what i leave my country the young age because you have to. Nfl you're right. That was kind of like am staying home and make the nfl europe and hopefully through there. That's a europe. I make practice squad against the practice spot and you guys who made it by then like me and a few guys. Me volley mountains such as master former They started to go directly to college or high school and college. And this is why we were trying to do because you asked me earlier. What's the different in the system. You'll high school system is made to produce athletes in the us high school system. I love the us high school system. Because you have your sports fields. You jim everything on camp and you bond with the students over here you go to school. I didn't have be honest. I had friends in school. But i didn't do anything with them because after that i left to go to my club team mclaughlin had to drive there. We a practice at night. Thrive thirty forty five minutes to the practice fields and get back home late. I had to go get my whole gym in like do all the extra stuff we we don't have these things like local at the school. So that's the big difference. Why america always is producing great athletes in any sports. And all the. I the beyond by the way i think. The cultural differences is something that is just so intriguing to the story as well and i think you know you being from berlin and then going experience. What the the richest of whites in america. That's probably what you're experiencing there. And then the florida state locker room and then the coats locker room as well. You're like set a perfect man to tell your story for the rest of your life because of how inspiring it is. It's going to be tough though when you have to end that whole thing with then one of my teammates who was very nice to me for numerous years while taken toward all every single day. I didn't know that by the way that's a bad she made. I should have known that was happening. By the way. I might have been like every day. I don't know man born. I might have said that but then stories can and then came over to germany and he he just ragged old man pink top. You're going to have to make it happen. I i appreciate you so much and good luck over there as the nfl continues to grow over there. I'm excited to see what they do alongside you and i'm so thankful can't wait to get over to germany and see above the nfl been do to gain next year in germany. Then you need to call again. Oh yeah but then. How do i watch the other games. What am i gonna do that. You can watch it on. Tv where we where we sit at. I should studio on cruzi. Max you know where we do. The life games We can't we we have to gain pass we have. We have dissolved own little bit for his own. So we have a few outlets way can watch the games now these days. That's that's what we'll do offer won't go to germany have a great. Have you guys come over. I take care of you guys. We munich students unit. And i know you let be and maybe go down to the hoffbrau house down there and square in the square down. And maybe you come over because the game was. I mean the time supposed to be the tool of emmerdale looking at if they're doing the munich october fest going on we're talking later. I'd ladies and gentlemen bjorn's ask. This episode is sponsored by better help online therapy in. May's mental health awareness month and throughout june. The pat mcafee show commits joining the efforts. In de stigmatizing therapy.

Final 53-man roster projections for all 32 NFL teams

"We're to get into the fifty three man roster. So today, we're going to make some projections I did a roster projection heading into training camp was on July twenty seven I had Jalen Hurd making the team I had Sean Coleman making the team. I had a few other players that they're just not going to make the team for whatever reason. So we're going to do that again today after trying to cap after all the news after everything we've seen and read and it will let's just compare to see what's changed since. So start with the first things first quarterback, Jimmy, Garoppolo, nick, mullins, CJ, Beathard I think they all make the roster I. Don't think that that's going to be very you know very controversial. It should be. I mean yeah. I I. Agree I all three of them making the roster as well. Especially, this season with Cova did I imagine that most teams will try to carry three quarterbacks if they can especially just given you know you never know. What happens if Garoppolo or mullins or you know they were to test positive or whatever the case is right and they were mistime than having Beth who understands the system? He's not great by any means just having them in the building is going to be advantage. Advantageous this season. I made this comment to someone else earlier Beth. `Red to George Kettle is Kinda of like you know James Jones or Mike Miller was. and. Lebron he's like teams back in the day. He used to have like those guys like travel with him. I think CJ beathard and George kind of like that George must have somewhere in his contract that Caesar method must be on the roster wherever he is. Those our buddy buddy but jokes, apart I I think all three of them will will make the team. So that's funny. You say that because Caitlin Beth one throwing to kill this off season for the most part it wasn't. Garoppolo. So maybe there is this weird clause in the contract right? I mean I feel like I could make a stronger argument where you carry two quarterbacks as opposed to three just playing the odds last year I can understand it as you know Garoppolo is coming off an injury. So you want to just protect your quarterback you WanNa make sure that you know united last minute fishing for a quarterback but you know he's out there he looks comfortable. No knee brace. In just in this situation I just can't understand a situation where. What are the odds that your third quarterback plays a snap in the regular season game just play the is I imagine that's less than ten percent very, very low at imagine. Right if we're going to do that, yet are the likelihood of a quarterback testing positive for having that whole situation happened shared night. There's a possibility that can happen without. It'd be a risk that I'd be willing to take, and I would much rather have you know a position player as opposed to you know a third string quarterback that major. May Not like the is that he throws a pass on likely and he's not going to help you in special teams or anything but that's I mean that's a Shanahan's ways and I don't see that changing I. Wonder if that will change you know this year with mullins and method both moans is a restricted free agent, right? Yeah. MULLENS will be back. He's restricted free agent. CJ BEATHARD is directed So hopefully, this is the last we've seen of method. CONHAM. I. Hope they don't some deal but Yeah it's tough. Especially, you know when you're having. Debates over other positions trying to like squeeze some other guy and you've got who's affected taking roster spot and like you mentioned, what are the odds that he plays right? but just given. Kyle and where they draft method and what they're trying to do I think they're gonNA, they're gonNA keep him on the roster rather than just swallow their pride and cut him. So both said before the pod before we hit record, this is what we think is going to happen not necessarily what we would do if you were in charge fifty, three man roster so.

"Oh Yeah we can get us strategic prison camps thousand dollars in all this stuff and immediately just like no way you see actual in children orphans. Who Light who live on the streets begging for food. I mean the people who brought out the footage. It's just incredible. I mean you a huge sense of responsibility for ya I mean and they you know I guess speaking to zero in indirectly to them. It was that sense. Are they really doing it for the right reasons And I think having seen the pictures you can understand. Why if if that was something you'd see in your everyday life and yet the image of the world sort of North Korea was this kind of cartoonish idea. Leaders were silly hats and new rockets. And all this kind of stuff you know. I think you could understand why people would want to kind of change. Narrative and revealed to the world that people living in desperate poverty And kind of I think they really you know we filmed another guy who was kinda doing the opposite. He was a full go prisoner. Who is smuggling? Dvd's USB of American movies and South Korean soap operas he. He was taking this huge risk to basically spreads kind of counter narrative that with careers breath best country in the world to green citizens. I think he thought that this would lead kind of long term people tend to against the regime. Let you made. It was five years ago. Now where did you see heading? Do you think they will ever be changed because it still seems to be pretty much down? Doesn't it yeah? It's difficult when you when you work with those defectors you Inside the country and talked to experts. It's easy to kind of feeling that something is bubbling away. But then as you say it's five years late to they've been kind of in into family struggles in his Executed his uncle which which gives a sign that everything is not quite right. But you know I think there is. It's hard when so much of the population is so downtrodden and so poor focuses on day to day survival rather than kind of revolution seems Kim Jong had health sky. Recent Day is probably more likely that he'll die in office and then someone will take over. Who's maybe reformatting as probably more likely than some kind of revolution Democratic people or Internet. Now you've also made film very recently called on the President's orders about the Philippines president dirty. What drew you to this country and in particular this this president. Obviously I'd done the police shooting from in America so kind of is had been chained into to the war in Iraq War Warren Drugs in the Philippines. Start to happen around the same time we vote for. Brexit can't and he came in on a platform saying he was GONNA pay see wipeout drug and he literally means what he means. You kidding people in the street and I remember. There was this amazing fighter essay in the Times of just bodies night after night on the streets of Manila people that heads bound with duct tape and push written on a card. That's on top of the body and it was all about kind of fear and sending a message and to amazing local journalists who might co-director. Va saw bell had met French festival with this amazing can just just the scale of the killing was so shocking. And then I think we thought we'd just finished a phone call Mosul where va had been embedded with the Iraqi special forces. And I think we still what people hadn't really seen up until that point people were saying bodies and I think there's a danger that it became a bit formulaic show. There was never that much kind of unpicking of who the dead person was killed. Him was actually the police was it. You know people talk vigilantes and all this kind of stuff so we wanted to kind of try and get access to the people implicated in the killing and kind of get inside their heads to see how they could justify by mass executions. And so we've got development money together out to Manila to DC waxes. Toget- what was it might catch. Leave filming out though because I just WanNa see you seem to love going to these quite dodgy places to be caught. What sort of measures do you take when you go out for me? How do you make sure that you'll say if you could save if your equipment doesn't get Knicks? The Philippines is interesting because we were with police. Were probably the most dangerous you know. I've I've filmed in some was alleviated incredibly experienced in in Mosul way tone. That was the most intense kind of urban combat since the Second World War. Say He's a military background as well so it was. It was interesting because it definitely the slums were very poor and there was crime in that there was drugs but you know for the first half of filming when we were mainly with the police. It was more about kind of winning that trust and hope getting them to open up rather than fear of of being you know we went on a couple of night raids and that kind of thing so I guess you've always got to be castle. I think the time we're most worried is when we started to film in the community with families of victims. Because you know we didn't WanNA leave the police to these guys. We didn't want them to feel worried. We didn't want the police to suddenly turn on us. I think you know one of off is was that the police would conveniently find some drugs. You know bag and suddenly we'd end up in prison ourselves. They kinda play by their own rules so I think we were just kind of constantly wary constantly assessing the relationships. We had with the police. And you know I guess we filmed at night in the slums a bit but usually we were out on the street for a short time. Either with the police were local. People is only me elevate and local fix a producer so we would never too conspicuous. We had one small camera. Tripod. I had little sound kit. You explain the situation there but have you actually been caught in any really unpleasant situations. Probably the most intense situations. I filmed with Gaza and Ukraine Gaza. Was you know it was the middle of a war and you being hotel mutare bombs going off in a few neighborhoods of nephew streets with that But Autumn was about children in Gaza. So we will never. You never had to be kind of on the front nine of the fighting but that was at that time. That was a kind of new experience. Will me crane each frightening? Yeah it was finding. The thing is because these quite sophisticated and they go quite far too not weaned knowing West journalists so I was there with the BBC and so you know information get the BBC about areas. They were targeting and stuff like that. I never felt in too much danger myself. It was more just kind of every time you heard an explosion in the distance. You would think that means more death that means more tragedy by sedate in in Ukraine. It was different because I was kind of on my own for the first bit of it as it was turning from kind of revolution to civil war so there were times when I would be out foaming at night and there was one hostage situation. I remember the pro-russian ducks by. See what they were attempting to relax. You not scared. Just the idea that I'd be there my own and they could easily turn on me and I shut my camera and so I think you know in a way that that for more scary to me because in 'cause a felt like the BBC so kind of sophisticated in the way they manage the risk. I think it's scary when you feel a bit kind of Our Name and quite sure how the situation is going to come out but you always managed to fill out the risk assessment form currently he and I mean there's there's a natural filming and an used to be a bit cynical about risk assessments. But actually it's a pain in the arse but thinking through scenarios is definitely worth it. You've got to take this stuff seriously and have the right care if someone does get and all those things now is. I think when you're young you kind of you think your eventual. But now I think all of us out alleviate was very badly wounded if he is be. I think we're do. I recognize kind of Rome. So you go through everything you can to try voice that you've done lots of work in difficult countries but I believe you will. Next film is based in the UK. Tell me very briefly about the film about the twenty eleven riots in England. And it's it was commissioned by the BBC. It's a ninety minute feature film next year for the temptation for Serie and I guess the idea was. It was a huge kind of historic society. What moment that. We kind of forgot about quite quickly you know. We had the Olympics following summer. We thought we were this kind of happy United Progressive Country. And actually the pasta shows that we're kind of more divided than ever each other so it was to kind of try and use the space time and perspective to try and understand wide happens. You know these things happening vacuum and I guess to speak to the people who actually the heart of it. Both rioters police and political people. Who visit at the time. This past can probably speak more openly now. Varieties have been to present. Come out police officers on in anymore and so we wanted to Kinda through a small cost of characters. Really go quite deep into the backstory and understand what caused it to happen. I think it's much it's more difficult at the time when you just people making trainers and jd sports to think maybe this is symptomatic of some deep problem. And certainly the political costs in the media. Dismissed it is just pure criminality but I think it was about something else and I hope you still tries to answer that question. Thank you so much for joining us on the docks and more podcast really nice to be listening to the dachshund more podcast with Lucky Dodwell if you enjoyed the show review and subscribe to the series.

He has made films about police shootings in America. His films of one emmys agrees in android Pack Award as well as not. Yes and many others. Welcome to the docks more podcast James. Nice to speak to you documentaries always something you wanted to do so I think I I always knew I wanted to do something journalistic and I left university wanting to kind of get a star in journalism and kind of found that it was very hard to get paid work because I was one of many many graduates with the same kind of ambitions so I did a few internships at magazines. And and things like that and then. I'd studied Russian at university and basically a job as a translator on a BBC series spout rushing Cox and it was it was a dream one hundred pounds a day to watch Russia sit in the sometimes out foaming Just completely fell in love with the process of making documentaries and was working with people and probably unlike if you if you start out as a runner reset. You're involved in your little bit because I was the one who could actually speak the language. Is there within right through to the end of the film? Testing is very much luck as a sideways in kind of already jumped ahead. Quite few hoops then fell back again. But at least it's kind of given me an insight into how it will work and then you know I kind of had a credit so at least I had something to show for it and then I kind of was struggling ages to be honest I year year and a half and was thinking on July. Get off and go to North scored and tribe a human rights lawyer or whatever and then. I think even applied for placer city law school and then go from the BBC on my CV was on that file and then go job as a research in kind of current affairs foreign affairs department and the was there for like a year. And a half and just learn loads. Now one of the films that you best known for is on on blackmail tennis about that film. There's a subject that I've been following for a while. There was going to black lives matter movement back in Twenty Fourteen Twenty fifteen and then yes. I had two friends at the Guardian running this project cooled the counted which basically information on every single person killed by police in America. And it's thing but no one had been doing before. Journalists had managed to do this huge undertaking and it was shocking and it was around the time when there are a lot of high profile shootings on camera and I think the thing that interested me or one of them research done films in places. North Korea where citizen journalists it kind of film stuff to show the world what was happening with the police. Shootings there was kind of similarity in that in the past the polices were he'd been taken as kind of truth. That was evidenced in itself. The police made a statement. That was taking this fact and what was happening when people cameras on their phones people were filming these incidents happening and they weren't a tool what the police were describing on many occasions and police were kind of panicking when someone was reaching pocket and it just happened to this time. There were cases. There's ever GonNa. That was lender. Casteel and know were shocking. And you kind of made you think that this me going for years and years but because hadn't been cameras places where took been tightness as fact that kind of interested me and I really wanted to find one case to kind of look at that issue through and it was actually a case in in Portsmouth. Virginia that hadn't got much coverage partly because it wasn't filmed that a mobile phone as it happened. There was some footage from which automatically starts recording but crucially that was like a fifteen second missing so at the beginning of that fifty second gap there kind of having an argument. The police officer young eighteen year old guy and by the end of the fifteen seconds when the camera comes back to life. He's lying on the ground dead. I'm so the idea really was to follow the Metro that this police officer you know one of the story things with it because of the political change the black guys matter police officers were being charged for these things but really the time and so we went to Virginia we. We started filming with the family of the victim. Who in she was pretty wary of us and then we filmed all through the trial. We filmed that she is a family of his previous victim. Who'd been shot eleven times fully as Elia who happened to be from Kazakhstan totally random my Russian leaving hopefully again because the speak to the victims mom and so we film throughout the whole trial and it was fascinating on every level and depressing rarely because whatever your opinion on the phenomenon of young black men being disproportionately shot this showed system. That was so divided by the kind of toxic legacy of race in. America said even if group the prosecution lawyers but black defense lawyers for why the police are supporting the face of civil white started courtrooms black. The jewelry was eight like people in full white who initially were completely divided along those lines. So that eight travelers wanted to the White Lisa on the full white is wanted to quit anyway eventually. That thanks to Kinda compromise but it just showed that the toxicity of race was so skewing this issue that no matter what you thought about this ABC's scale. It wasn't really functioning justice system. How will you actually received by the family and by the police so initially we met a family date had contact with my friend to the gods in. We'd written a piece about them quite soon after it happened but they you know as so often when you make these documentaries he show up and they said they kind of wrote the writing like that we've had reporters out on our doorstep of this happening. You know we don't want to talk to the press. We don't on Social Media in Candy William Chapman. The young guy who was killed mother is like is an amazingly charismatic and brilliant woman. But you know. How has that quite chaotic lifestyle and didn't really want outside is kinda sticking their nose in. I remember the first time we had lunch with her. She Betty spoke and she was grieving. Go through on worried about the trial and everything. I said In when the trial is happening. We're probably more likely to be like inside the House with you and it was. It was gradual. But like I'd say over the course of the first couple of weeks. We just became close. Retire hyperbaric came down and it was kind of amazing to city. Actually because often with these films when you're dealing with people who are grieving like this sounds kind of self serving to say it does become part of that process of getting through it it becomes kind of focus and for I think the attention and the fact that she felt that there was this cool is behind her and the kind of support grew in the community. You know when she we did she did one rally in the parking lot Wolmar where where William shot and she was speech that was just so charismatic and uplifting and you could barely believe it was the same person that we met you know a month that radio for lunch and then so yeah and I think in a way I had an American producer. I think in a way you've always got to be conscious of your how you're perceived as the filmmaker and I think in a way being kind of wiped British guy did that out. Well I mean. We'll go into Portsmouth. The town is like fifty percent white fifty percent black and you know it feels will segregated Still Communities Community Web candy live is almost entirely black so we would stand out quite law but you know soon as as candy welcomed us in the community welcome. Sem We never any hostility. It's already and you know that was very gratifying. And you know but it was interesting like whether it's an advantage or disadvantage in sometimes being totally camping advantage because they kind of see see. It was like an alien from outer space. And don't assume you have a particular agenda or not and so it with candy just relied entirely on our kind of personal number two. What about the police? How how do they see? Do they kind of think? Oh well you know his British guy who certainly be on our side and we'll tell them wherever we one does that the perception. Yeah it's interesting. I think they could see in the courtroom so we were obviously kind of talking to candy took to Atlanta. Who was the mother of Curiel? Who'd been killed for his area so it was quite clear that we can filming with the victims united so they could assu probably that we were getting one side of the story. And you know in our heads Steve Steven Rankin. The officer shot. These two people was this kind of months. Light regret stuff. He posted online all of this. So we kind of assumed the film for better or worse would be told from one perspective and then at the end of the trial we kind of approached his wife just to say you know you could be. We're making this film. Would you be interested in meeting? And then she did me and you know. I think when you're making these films you just got to be honest with people that people can smell a rat if you're trying to play them and we have films less time with people have filled with other people to wherever it's the you say you know unflattering things about him but is Phil movie and. Fairer you across your perspective and what you've been through that will make it go film. And she think felt like she hadn't been listened to and so she wanted to speak and say we did an interview and then after we filmed into we said we'd love to meet Steve. Obviously you wouldn't want to do an interview but we have to meet him and five minutes eight. She said Oh. He's on his way. So we met Steve Rankin. Who was who had just been convicted of manslaughter. But again we would just straight with him and said this film will be better if you explain to us your perspective. On what how you so the incident? How you so everything around the trial. So then he didn't interview which we've never ever expected and at that point in the BBC turned it from a sixty minute from two ninety minutes. I mean to my surprise not sure Steve has ever seen went to prison. His wife. Doin- what's the film and I talked through and I totally we into his ex wife. He says this weekend street is boss. Who said this and actually she watched the film it was you know that was you know. I think most people would what changed that. The police and Steve Come across that well but I think we gave them kind of fair hearing and there was no common tree that it didn't feel particularly we were taking a position but yeah I I I guess with both the victims families and with the police we would just pretty. We had we had the luxury of time. So were going to be there for months and months and months. We didn't have to pressure them into filming straightaway. We kind of talk about previous web redone and just really build like a personal relationship. Filmmaking is released relationship with them now one of the documentaries that you may which I found really moving into armed is probably a part of the world. You don't hear very much about. It's the North Korea film. You didn't do the told me to this. So how did the film come together? This is unusual in that. You know as a filmmaker We never really want to be awesome people to go to places and do things that you wouldn't do yourself so this. Guy Jinro issue Maru. Who is Japanese had been building a network of North Korean citizens inside the country for about ten years and fifty out fairly regularly and it actually worked with hard cash the company that we made film through before and it was around the time Kim Jong in had come in people curious about the situation and I think a lot of people had done kind of tourist trips to North Korea where you go in as a foreigner. Up Show sparkling hospitals happy people would come up almost actors and you'd get kind of very surreal but not particularly revealing image of North Korea. And so we you know we really the only way to to see what life is like fit. Actual real people is for them to film themselves which which is Great in principle but incredibly difficult when you think about the kind of security protocol which today and Channel Four incredibly hot on that so we were writing sixty documents about protocols but ultimately think it came down to thinking the everyone involved understood the risks that we would never cowboys in that world so we spoke to a few different organizations in some would say..

The Ivy League's decision to cancel the basketball tournaments was unfair to athletes

"Yeah I believe straight up cancelled its men's and women's tournaments the automatic berths going to the regular season champs which is what the I really did until four years ago so that means the Yale man and the Princeton women are given the automatic berths to the NC WRAL to around the horn yeah this is an interesting decision by the I really I really feel for these other teams you know you mentioned Princeton they're started by the way is bell Allori market Valerie's daughter they only lost one right I am over time so they're all they're all set for the women but Harvard can you imagine the beef they have they beat this team twice they were hosting the tournament Tony so you can I can't even imagine as a student athlete preparing all week or for however long fourteen and then the calls come in saying yeah I never mind us seniors you're done it's over that's just heartbreaking I had to have been a better way a lot of complete people are playing without fans maybe I really should consider a good soul yeah I am happy for James Jones I've known since he was in junior high so I'm happy for you know that he's going to the tournament I'm not happy for anybody else on the women's side or the men's side because just play the tournament in an empty gym why are we going to this extreme measure and the coach of Penn bring up a great point you have across teams are going on the road wrestlers are going on the road right now for matches why would you have to cancel this stuff the gala trouble you yeah I mean the first one I want to say anybody in any this is making a terrible decision because there's no easy play book there's no easy guide to know what to do here but I will say like like Frank just and Frank and Jackie just said there's other sports going on and they're allowing those to continue now there's gonna be other conference tournaments going on the pac twelve just said they're playing in Las Vegas that's a lot bigger crowd ostensibly more dangerous health situation I would guess so it you know it's it's a tough call I don't know I don't know why they don't play it you know without fans and I think we are going to get to that point in some sports we just don't know how soon bill clashes I think it's a total panic move I mean so Yellen Princeton can play this week if they can play next week in March madness the play other teams are from the fan housing health risks the any different if we can is this week it doesn't make any sense and there's no health official in this country nobody has said that they should have athletic events now keeping the fans out that's the way to go I think that's probably probably is a pretty smart way to do it I don't think these games need fans but these games the players ready to play and there there's no significant health risk I don't know why they do it again it seems like a panic move to me it should be said on many of these universities Harvard for one and many universities across the country are now in a new online classes pretty good so you can address something else be like well what was interesting you know the bill we're talking about the pac twelve the fact that their plan why is that because we know they're gonna get a lot of fans are the same thing with the biggest tournament here Madison Square Garden the Ivy League they'll give fans but it's not the money maker that some of these bigger conferences are so I think that's probably one of the reasons why the bigger conference center we're having the tournament and maybe that's why it made it easier for the Ivy League but they should be a little more considerate to those other players like the coach talked about seniors and you're telling them today by the way your career is over after mac yeah you know the other thing too is keep in mind that the I really didn't even start a post season tournament two thousand seventeen so I think that maybe they feel like well you know we've always put academics above all the rest is here's just a total conjecture on my part you mention Harvard they've already told their students were on break you're not going to come back after a break your to do online courses so obviously Harvard that university in particular is taking a very conservative approach and they were the ones hosting cal OSHA you know plasti said something a minute ago that a week ago it is sounded just absurd these games they'll need fans and realistically it's probably the the safest way to go and I think we'll eventually get to that in some sports when you think about putting twenty thousand people on top of each other you know in a congested arena that may be the way the the easiest way to spread the virus and they may you know we do have televisions we can't watch these games from home so for a short period of time that may be the way we have to guess what's what we're seeing worldwide right and the arenas and that's what we're seeing with some conferences the Ivy League co opting to cancel there's other conferences opting for not crowded or empty arenas

Spike Lee and James Dolan are having a silly feud over which MSG entrance Lee can use

"Area obviously the fallout continues on from Spike Lee having to sort of be re routed or potentially routed from the entrance he's been in all these years and it upset him greatly so we went on first take and then the next the next released a statement saying it's laughable that he's playing the victim card and actually posted footage of the VIP entrance and then a touching of hands in some way shape or form with Knicks owner James Dolan and Spike Lee as he was upset about he could use the app is used for twenty four years and about how you feel about that part of it which I understand if the Knicks are trying to avoid that I get that it was handled clumsily I think that's an easy way to say all of this correct yes it was handled in a way that seemed almost designed to draw attention to it yeah after after by the weight Leon rose as the team present the first came with him they beat the rockets right the Knicks are not a good team and they beat a good team and yet this became the story so obviously someone having an issue with James Dorn is a nothing new but be it reminded us of someone else who very recently had a very public issue with that is a square garden and James Dorn that'll be Charles Oakley who was escorted out of the building by executing was told in twenty seventeen by James Dorn you'll never get into MSG again even if you buy a ticket so of course we were gonna have Charles Oakley on the show this morning to talk about what he thought of the Spike Lee situation of what is going on under James Jones ownership and let's just say Charles did not hold back it is a plantation whether it's good bad people won't talk about is real bad over there someone may have been but I think it was twenty years old ten million dollars in new quick about it because though that bill what what is this mail problem bottle control you so much of a control freak then he heard the whole NBA them all immediately this guy hit land every month or every other week with something that don't have many women together with individual people life we should be going to live with them days will be cold with this control freak in all this that if the court would be in the business you have to have people to work for you so you have to go with people to succeed in life you got into trouble operating business you need people to work he was in distress are working every day wow I mean he listen it was a hell of an interview no doubt about it and and and I guess he he kind of gave an answer by saying that he thinks in all honesty the league should take the franchise away from him but that's not gonna happen but he can he compare him to Donald sterling he said because we've pointed out this on numerous occasions that none of this changes while James Dorn is the owner we don't expect some metamorphosis from him and his point was this is so bad for the lead we saw another very different instance but he pointed out the comparison with Donald sterling saying the league stepped in then he believes the league should step in now I I just don't see them doing that and just like we all don't see no matter who the coaches the GM is the president is good likely on rose that it doesn't matter because players are not you if you're gonna build a team what what Charles Oakley said you're not the building through the draft when you draft somebody to come there because big time free agents are not coming to play for the Knicks yeah what happened this past summer they cleared all the cap space in two point prime free agents did they just didn't go to the next they went to the nets and Stephen A. Smith is in on this as well basically saying the culture of the next sadly is still the culture now I can't he can't he can't help the Knicks win and winning you will accept already and still make the culture that you can get that part the only expense but the only person that can fix this culture change though James Dolan have stopped thank hi guys that that's in Charles Oakley brought that I mean you you you you're in New York you have to have a little bit of a tougher widely I mean okay we can bring that up what do you think that's going to happen if we don't we don't there's no chance that we think that's going to happen this guy owns the most or the franchise won the most in all the NBA one fifth in all of sports right in that area four point six billion dollars he is not as we talk about money should make you treat people assert what you treat people but this guy ain't changing no well that's I guess that's the issue and all this right is you look at it and say unless someone else does step in James Dorn is gonna own this team for as long as he wants a life is about what's incentivized writing his behavior based on the numbers that you just said has been incentivized it is been shown Hey this is a lucrative for you it may not win you basketball games but it's going to make you money you're gonna get to feel important and do all the things that come along with owning the Nixon owning Madison Square Garden and yada yada yada on down the list but what can we count on until that is an endless loop of things like this what an endless loop of Fruita futility so much so that if the Knicks are other good it's going to be completely on accident yeah yeah it's going to be just because within the body of a long period of time a broken clock is right twice a day

Disney, Nala Donald Glover And James Earl Jones discussed on Bald Movies

"Latest live action cash grab the Lion King directed by Jon Favreau and you know I never would have guessed that the man who breathed life into a multi billion dollar franchise but taking a third tier marvel property like iron man and taking passion for source material I I never thought that he you would brought that same passion to the Lion King and you know what I was right because in my opinion this is like the most of all the pointless Disney remakes this is the most pointless and the one that comes off the shabby shabby as compared to its source material Jim. What did you think and maybe talk about your personal relationship with the Lion King of any so I think the Jon Favreau had quite the passion for the source material because he just recycled it and not in like the way where you I don't know take something you have? It's old fashioned into something new. That's useful in a different way. This was the lion king like this is the most Lion King Lion King movie <hes> outside outside of the Lion King I mean the thing is is is the lion king. Only all of the animals were injected. The Boat Docks Yeah Animation <hes> that's. That's the only thing that was different about this movie in any way right. There's one hint of new song none of the plot points or any different than the lion king you remember from ninety four. It's all the same it's just a it's just a cross aboard worse version yeah and completely like you said unnecessary. I think this is like the thing I liked about. Aladdin is Kinda took it a direction and modernized it updated five the problem. The parts were little creaky and little stale where we've moved on as a society they've kind of you know propped it up and they didn't try to like out Robin Williams Robin Williams on the genie whereas this it's like. I don't understand how the animation tests came back for. These animals father wasn't like okay we gotta ditched his documentary approach and have these lions smile. Give him some fucking eyebrows house allow on the show some gene grief and rage because we know I've seen the lion king many many many many times and there's a couple of scenes where you're you're geared up to anticipate and it's exactly. The same lines exactly the same framing except for Simba's faces a grim frozen mask that is capable of showing anything other than way honestly my house cats more expressive. I that's the thing that really really surprised me and I saw a listen problems with that in like some of the trailers I saw but like I don't know I mean it's this isn't a bad film in fact honestly the first five minutes. I actually started thinking well. Maybe I'm wrong because it gave me the exact same goosebumps that intro of the Classic Lion King Circle Life Yeah <hes> but even then it's like there's a couple of parts or like you know like there's a couple of things that you you know you can do in animation like when you blink and step forward and sun you can have a baby draft. Blankets is in this. I mean if they did that with his baby. Draft who the fuck knows because baby drafts don't blink in the sun it turns out it's almost it felt like one of those Old Walt Disney movies like <hes> <hes> what is the journey home or whatever where the actually take a real poppy in a real cat kitten and or they have like little bound very tightly homered ban yeah they make a movie around around like their natural expressions and stuff <hes> but there's just I don't know I mean I didn't really pay any attention to the casting like I didn't know anybody <hes> and there's <hes> great great cat like you know the Simba Nala Donald Glover beyond say knowles stats a fucking dynamite combination like John Oliver as the Domo's as zoo is pretty inspired casting the return of James Earl Jones James Jones. You can't do better than that. I thought that <hes> Billy Eichner as to Moan was really good eye Eric Andre I know seth th- Rogan is Okay Yeah Eric Andrea one of the hyenas I I mean I said it's just I mean we can talk about it the scene by scene point by point and the trailer earn the spoiler section like do I want to on this one because if you've seen the Lion King you've seen the entirety of this movie. It's just like they changed a damn thing. No they range all all the life yeah. Apparently the animators didn't get to note that the scene. Can you feel the love tonight actually takes place at night not at noon just many many references to it being evening and being nights and then it. Blend smoothly into another night scenes really pivotal and what the fuck what the fuck why are they why are they having animated these lions in broad daylight. I don't know because you can. They're more expressive in the day. I don't ever more expressive in the day. That's the only thing I think of is the other thing is speaking of that. I defy you to tell any of those lionesses apart <hes> yeah lights off in the cartoon version. There are subtle variations in color facial expression oppression. I mean they're all kind of unique individuals. At least you know the Nairobi and Nala and the ones actually have speaking roles this like they literally all look the same and when Simba's fighting scarred there's many time I lost track of WHO Simba who was scar and they found it hilarious that these battles are so bloodless. I don't know how you get a name like scar. If nothing can cut your skin I know 'cause like it'd be like it's cannon that Mu Fossa awesome fucked him up the part of his ear off and really hideously scarred him so but yeah you can't do that when <hes> although to realistic you can't do I was kind of put off by the mature subject matter. They're they're. They're saying the F. A. R._T.. Word heard they are in case. Let that slide through yeah yeah really risk and is this P._G.. I don't know it probably is it wouldn't be stupid like whatever the whatever the original was here. It's the same because it is is the same so so. Maybe I'm a little harness movie but I actually this was the very first Walt Disney animated movie I ever saw because I my mom was a religious nut job the type of religion I mean there's lots of different ways to be a religious just not job as a parent but <hes> her particular nutjob Orie was magic anything magic and I'll add in allow <hes> sleeping beauty no little rain when the fucking sea he which get Outta here those legs are mad. I remember the look my sister and I gave each other when Rafiki started doing medicine Monkey Shit and we're like Oh God and my mom's is started twitching like us a spiritism. Does a spiritism like she's please do not storm out of that we we. We begged her to take her come on the line game. There's no magic there's no warlock in this fucking monkey starts. Doing you know the the magic adjacent shit he starts doing like some kind of weird monkey and melon based divination a nation he starts doing martial arts karate at the end which is the other kind of spiritism adjacent but it was near and dear to my heart because I that's the very first and I remember just like just like being just completely amazed at the opening act. And really moved when Fossa dies and like also we had that movie I was the only Disney animated movie for a long long time that we had on V._H._S. and my brother and sister and I kind of wore it out over the course of a summer so I'd fucking love this the Super N._S.. Lion King Okay. I don't think I ever made it past the third level because it's freakishly hard but there's a lot I have a lot of affection for this source material and Dan I just to me they should have cleaned it up that those prints as shiny as they could make him they should've completely redone to sound and just re released it because this is just you know Lion King's Tinton movie. This is like six attitude execution of that movie. This is a high school musical version of the Broadway version of the Lion King. I could see that yeah. I didn't find it offensive. I found that it was in in maybe everything except for the expressive -ness of the characters was just as effective as the original was but yeah it was entirely unnecessary. This is a fairly obvious cash crap. I didn't didn't feel that way coming out of Aladdin. I know a lot of people didn't feel that way coming out of beauty and the beast and you know the the Dumbo did People Watch Dumbo. Nobody watched dumbo right everywhere. I heard it was pretty fucking shitty. Yeah I didn't see it. I didn't either her because I heard it was pretty shitty and guess what you've got Milan coming down the pike. I don't I've never seen Milan. I mean it's a fine. It's it's it's probably one of the lesser of the new golden age of Disney like it's kind of their into Pocahontas level level where it's like animation still amazing songs that nearly as catchy core concept not as solid and I've heard that they're actually a skewing the songs more or less in Milan and just like a straight like a straight drama weird. I could be wrong on that but I just. I don't know I it. It's it's not it's so cynical. I said cash grab because it's it's not it's not just a blatant redundant cash grab. It's just a pace. These does relentless Klis pace that they're that they're doing them into. I don't understand why we need. Five remakes of Disney live action Disney movies in a single year and I don't even know if it might be more than that like. I don't know if they've got. They're going to sneak something out. Pass them along before Christmas. I don't know I don't know they just cast a little mermaid. I I don't know how far that's that that's behind but who's playing Sebastian. I don't know okay. That's my biggest question about that movie. Maybe Ahmed Best Okay Yeah sure thanks Yeah Sebastian yeah he so Whoopi Whoopi in the under the sea yeah love song so I got some more stuff to say 'cause I got. I actually Kinda WanNa actually KINDA WANNA break it down so you might say because he's keep on saying that it's shot for shot for Lion King and that's my biggest problem is is that I don't think it is. I think they're I mean they try not shot but beat for beat. Story is one hundred percent every bit of the staging is is noticeably inferior and worse than than the than the the original and some of the things that like what they did to be prepared is a God damn criminal travesty. That's one of my favorite songs from the Lion King and I've never seen a more dispirited parroted punting of a musical number then than I have. I don't know Jimmy Nicholson who I considered. The foremost expert on Disney films on the Internet suggested that there's also a muted quality due to vocal performances like everything everyone's kind of like instead of like even James Earl Jones instead of just like because I remember I I can I can hear in my head exactly how he says. Nobody messes is with the year old band or I can. I can hear like they. They just didn't quite nail it and her theory is they had to have all the actor scale back because if they were as a motive as the original lion king it would look wildly out of place with the animation style and it's like the one thing that you could have gone ten for ten and let like Donald Glover and beyond say and James Will Jones uncork and actually you know she would tell Chew Hotel Jia for <hes> who I think is an amazing actor. He got the world's most laid back quiet unassuming scar and it's just a shame because he's trying to follow giant. Jeremy Irons plays one of the the all time Great Disney villain voices and it just. I don't know

"Like he didn't say anything in that meeting, and that was supposed to be LeBron exit meeting where they talked about the season and plans going forward. And so like either something happened between Saturday and Tuesday were magic said I'm out, and I can't tell anybody that. I don't wanna that who doesn't wanna talk into it or and this is the more. I report on this the where they keep talking to people about what happened, right? I think he just got selfish. I really do think magic just in that moment. Just said, I choose me. Choose the life. I wanna have. And there was a right way to do this which is to tell him to genie bus. Satele his career is held the oh something happened that made him make this decision. I have respect for Magic Johnson. Still after this day. I he's an icon of the game. We love talking to him. He still did this one thing the wrong way. I I don't think there's any other way. My second or third year. Rick Pitino quit on the spot. After the game. It was like he was like I'm done, y'all. And I was like, whoa. But did he tell you where the media I he told to the locker like other game? I'm like. Say young player. I'm still trying to make. I don't know. Find the velvet rope. Tony what's up? Hey, I just wanna tell you guys that I agree with Jeff Van Gundy yet, in fact, I told a couple of my friends last week about it. And the reason I think they should trade with Braun is because of magic and roughly I think magic in RAV have made such a mess out of this team. They're throwing things the wall now to see what stick, and I think I don't think they're going to get much this summer and one of their only options basically to rebuild this team is to think about trading LeBron getting as much as they can form and start from scratch, basically, it's like they've built this house in the foundations all wrong and the walls are off and they're not square and their equipment installers. It's a mess yet. Look, let's touch on this any of this is really fifteen seconds it in this segment. Let let's continue this discussion. Plus coming up next. We got an update on Clayton Kershaw and.
