Can the Pittsburgh Steelers Go Undefeated?

"Are see. We are forced to listen to quarterback so often in the world of nfl analysis. So i just wanna thank you for helping lead. The db revolution espn daily. Why does this happen. You guys finally invited me or it's your time man your old team. The steelers are right now. Undefeated and that is surprising. Let's be honest to a lot of people. So how surprising is it though to you. I think it's it's. It's more surprising when you actually watch the games It's obviously surprising. Anytime team goes through more than half of the season and their undefeated. But when you watch the steelers play the second half against tennessee titans even watching them to send the backup quarterback gets the denver broncos or be dominated upfront defensively the way they were against the baltimore ravens but still be undefeated. I think that's the fascinating part is not just that they've managed to win. Every game is just inside of those games. you seen opportunities for them to lose. But they've made the place that they've to. I mean you can even look at a match up against the dallas cowboys and say you know gary gilbert and the dallas cowboys may have deserve to win that game. But that's what this lied about was going to come down to one possession games. He's gonna come our critical situation though football moments and at least it does far. The steelers have found answers to any questions in those important moments. And this is why you sit undefeated. So how does this defense stack up. Ryan versus the steeler defense. Is that you played for that. You helped lead. What are the holes in this defense. You know what. I don't think they necessarily have holes in the sense of of those things being a negative right. He's looking to make a rush. The passer with just for the obviously can bring bring pressure make fitzpatrick ultimate playmaker on the back end and i think they have really good corners. But they don't have that great court but when you all those things together i think you get one of the top defense in the league especially when it comes to pressure and turning the ball over we. That's what football is right. Like people aren't going to hold you. Thirteen points like we did wait. Like that's not the ball we play it. You can't intimidate people like i would get fined and kicked out of every game. Five play james harrison fell six million dollars a year. You can't do those things anymore. But if you could get the ball which the pittsburgh steelers do know that really helps and that's why this team world season. Well i wanna get into the difference between playing football then versus now especially because offense is king these days as you implied right there so the defense is the big reason. The steelers are undefeated. The offense though i mean they've been relatively relatively average so can eighteen built around defense. Like the steelers are ryan. Can that sort of team win in the modern nfl. I believe they can. I believe they can. Because if you look at the individual weapons offensively like they are extremely. good I think you you're missing that one running back piece but we look at pool. Smith schuster the johnson. Eric ebron like that's a skill set or skill position that a lot of teams would love to have especially teams not named became the city chiefs. And so if you can do all those things on the outside like they can. You can score points. Also look at this team at critical moments though. Think about tennessee. Titans having to get a drive late in the game even though been was a reception late like they were able to the ball greg band. There's gonna prevail on the road. The pittsburgh steelers had the hold on dearly man. Hold on they do for the baltimore. Ravens they score in the second half and they were able to do that then back pop. For the end zone touchdown pittsburgh and all the out cut to the chase. Claypool man play. It just seems that all the critical point of the season it's offense has been able to produce down to like. I said the dallas cowboy game last week obviously exploiting a very bad bengals defense and well in a team like the cat city chiefs right and i say okay. One had the baby stopped him have to limit big play. The pittsburgh steelers can do that with rush. Plays on the back end right. Play play man when they need to stop the big click now. Let's go offensively the only time we've ever seen patrick mahomes lose. He was in the playoffs. He was standing across from another super bowl. Winning quarterback that was tom brady and rothlisburger. Isn't tom brady but he can do. Some of those things in important moments. And we've seen of do those. And so i think this team can most certainly went into as you mentioned chase claypool his nickname if catching on with you but maple tron. He comes from canada. He's this guy. I didn't know anything about. I wonder if you did because he has seven touchdowns in his first nine games as a pro. What has he brought to this offense. I mean you look at what this league is turning into. Because of the lack of physicality it's a it's a size speed league right like it's starting to they used to be. It didn't matter what happened in the shorts olympics at the combine like if a fast it didn't necessarily mean it was going to translate do can do certain things there did me but it's starting to mean that at the wide receiver position because of the rules. Like if you could flat out run you're gonna probably get open because they can't hold you. You pass five yards. They can't hit you across the middle play putin critic who has great hands he tracks the ball. Well he has a big body and so when you have all those things just translate we've seen chase claypool. You know kind of come out of nowhere. They just kinda have a knack for finding people that sit what they want to do and utilizing them in a way. That truly helps the team chase. Claypool is just another example of that

Former Steeler James Harrison says Antonio Brown is 'looking really selfish' after Raiders drama

"James harrison fifteen years in the n._f._l. Undrafted out of kent state cut by the ravens went overseas to the x._f._l. Europe and then became an absolute legend multiple super bowls multiple pro bowls defensive player of the year all time sack leader for pittsburgh at eighty and a half to pleasure to have you in. It's funny when you watch these camps and you see these you see a lot of stars that are drafted high and undrafted stars. You're a great picture of what the n._f._l. Is undrafted. You didn't never linear route and you end up being an absolute legend so i wanna talk about somebody who i think's a legendary talent antonio brown the helmet issue. I get it's equipment. What do you make though of a second grievance filed. I think it's time to to to let it go for me. I believe it comes down to him wanting to be right to win. <hes> i think since he got his way in pittsburgh he got out of there. He wanted to get out of there where he got to where he wanted to get. I'm feeling like this is maybe a situation where he wants to have it his way even if he wins which he won't. You're gonna get your helmet for another year at best but you won't win that because the c._b._a. Says that anything that roger goodell feels like he wants to to do. I mean i'm going to be outlandish say like if he wanted to make a fine full your socks being low one hundred thousand could that's what he can do. That's the law that's how it goes.

"I was a patriot last right? Okay. Sounds good. Really good. And not just not just that guy. James Harrison, what the non-defense sort of defense. Maybe he was nice to meet is that enough. Luqueno business. I'm going to rip into this guy's second. But let's say, you know, that's not fair. Here is Bruce Arians, obviously, a history of little Ben defending him and say, no, no, he's Big Ben or the best I've ever been around. Guys to have thicker skin, man. He's the leader. He's the guy. Early in his career by said, hey, you're not vocal enough drone medicine. Says. Wait, hold on. Wait. I got timeout. Quick baas. Can you just Zemke narrow in on on that on that thick skin thing for me guys had to have thicker skin, man? There's no that's what he said. Because I got to play. There's one more time for you guys have thicker skin, man. Oh, thicker skin, coach, like, the kind of thick skin where somebody reports that you're going to step down as the head coach in Arizona, and you come out there and don't say, you're a total liar. How dare you report the lies? It's not true. And then the moment the nanosecond the season's over, you quit. And you that. That kinda that kinda thick skin. Look look. I'm gonna say this about Ben Rothlisberger. Then I want to give you a chance to give your perspective at eight five five two one two four CBS. Well, there's two things one when people of the talent level of Antonio Brown on bell, both leave and say, it's rothlisburger that tells you something and to when your two primary defenders are a liar and a traitor. I'm not sure that adds up to an overwhelming reality that you got wrong. Bruce Arians lied. A reporter said he was going to step down the end of the season and areas went to the podium. I'm sorry. Bruce can use one more time about six game because you're going to need it right here. Guys, have thicker skin, man. All right. So Bruce, you're a liar. And you'd have the thick skin to hear this. Because what happened Bruce, Bruce? I'm sorry. Just one more time. So that we can just you know, guys have to have thicker skin, man, thick skin enough, Bruce. I'm not gonna call you coach you've lost that moniker for me. Here's the deal be. Here's the deal. A journalist successfully reported that you were leaving the job you call that journalists Aligarh you said the report wasn't true. You said you weren't going anywhere. You stepped away the moment the season was over. You knew your rely that is by definition a liar. So Bruce is a liar. And James, you can't lead the Steelers and go to New England out being a traitor, and I'm not sure being a trainer look at Stu. He's from New York City on you know, what you don't know. What's to jokes, Stu? It's a joke free week today and tomorrow today because you're hearing Geragos I'm off I'm off work moving to LA when a liar. And a traitor are the biggest defenders of your character. And one of those defenders answer is look was nice to me. He was mean everyone else. But nice to me the reality Holtz. I'm not questioning Roethlisberger's remarkable town. It's remarkable. I'm not questioning the Rothlisberger is going to be a hall of Famer. It's a no brainer. It's not the hall of nice guy. It's not the hall of good teammate. It's not the hall of non diva, but the notion that Ben Rothlisberger is the kind of leader he pretends to be is over. I've been saying this for two years on this show because of reporting that I have and just the candor the guys of have have been willing to give me on Rothlisberger. And I understand you had to take my word for it. And I promise you this. I'm going to be wrong sometimes, but I'm never going to lie to you. I'm not gonna come on the air and say something that's not true. And when I'm wrong, I'll call myself out for the last hour we had four grave on. And I thought to be fair..

"James Harrison, and we talked to Jerry Rice James just wants you to be happy. Jerry once you on the Niners. What do you want? Win. I just wanna win. One win. Doesn't matter where. Thank you. Oh my gosh. You're gonna do that to your mustache. Mustache applaud mustache and the rest of the beard. He's as great as they come Famer. Well, the numbers that he's put up our hall of fame worthy. I mean the Steelers are winning. I mean that's their problem at and he's a good guy. I mean when we met him he seems like a really nice guy, and and juju Smith Schuster will tell us a really good team mate. I don't know what to believe anymore. Yeah. Crazy speaking. It's a lot of drama. And that's how I think the Steelers are done with the drama. Certainly if they're gonna extend Big, Ben and know what that dramatically sometimes bring to. But. Being a future hall of famers, Julius peppers announced his retirement today with the Carolina Panthers seventeen seasons. He's fourth all time in you'll go all the freezer first ballot. Greg career. I agree. What else the alliance of American? Football's starting up very soon. Nineteen games on the NFL network. Got a partnership with NFL network. And shack is is in the management of it multiyear programming deal with the network they're going to debut their alliance coverage on Sunday February tenth eight PM eastern following the opening weekend. NFL network were air two games per week in primetime Saturday and Sunday nights. Okay. Look forward to watching that on at home more from home more football. All right. Let's talk some hoops, we cut up with Kenny Smith yesterday after the show catch that full interview on the rich Eisen show app. We asked him about Anthony Davis. Here's what he had to say. Do you buy into the fact that Anthony Davis is agent same as LeBron who LeBron is also an owner of the agency has made these maneuvers public to get AD to Los Angeles. And then all of a sudden Kyrie is is rumored to be open to a reunion and Klay. Thompson would be raising his hands saying I'm coming in July. All this happens. Do you buy all that right now? What best form is Los Angeles. That is best for him. If he feels that he can't win a New Orleans. Here's a guy who's been to the final eighth straight times. He's somewhat even doubt. He has. He hasn't. He hasn't peaked. He's not going down. But he's at the pentacle, and you're reaching yours. And so you could help him rot into the sunset with four or five more championships. It's hard to disagree with that. Really is you know, how exciting that would be in Los Angeles with respect to the ball family and Brandon Ingram and Kouzmouk who's been just dynamiting grant and zoo botch who has been that that would be just a gravy. The fact that he's actually blossomed into something that would be considered a part for Anthony. I mean, if Anthony Davis and LeBron James are at a press conference together in Los Angeles one week from today mean magic they wouldn't even have to get into the summer to get their star player. They wouldn't have to roll the dice. And what the Knicks are rolling the dice on right now. Okay. Speaking of the next let's go inside the Doan wormhole now Steve males next president. Of course, the big trade yesterday. Kristaps Porzingis to the Mavericks for Smith junior and a bunch of other players Steve mills said it was Porzingis who did not want to be in New York anymore. Today's trade will have a significant impact on us moving our team forward over time. It became clear that Kristaps was not completely on board with the plan that we had laid out. He's a great player, but this morning in a meeting he confirmed that he no longer wanted to be a Nick. Given the uncertainty of going into free agency with a player who feels that way. We decided to make this trade. It's just a feeling you get is you're watching how frequently comes to practice is how long he's around the gym different things that he's doing. And we just started to get the feel that this might be moving in a different direction. Hey, I'm out. There are not seeing it. And all I know is, you know, I think the owners the worst owner in sports, and I say, that's all I say that a lot, but he's an absurdly rich man who was given who's given the next front office. The leeway to do something radical and risky, and that is go out there. Bring these guys and. To help. To help clear enough space to get to. Absurdly talented championship cornerstones together in one fell swoop. And hope that the ping pong balls bounce their way Zion. Williamson comes to the next. It's all going to go down and that three week period between the draft lottery and free agency opening up, and if they don't get the free agents common, and by the way, if the ping pong balls don't bounce the right way that might. Influence weather anybody's common. Whoever becomes put JD in the straight shot on tour in his far away from the free agency meetings as possible put James Dolan, and his rock band, or whatever you wanna call it make sure that there on torch somewhere in Serbia or whatever keep them away. And just say, the money's yours. Let's go put their coach who I love. Fidel put them in there in the meeting and let them sell and say Durant, you're coming here. And hope comes is. Well, maybe Kyrie does is. Well, and then all of a sudden, you're laughing just like the way that the jets made that huge trade to move up to the number three spot. They gave up a ton of money. I mean a ton of picks. I'm like, let's sue who they choose and they got darnold. So I'm not going to criticize everything because I'm also not emotionally invested in porzingas like all these poor knick fans have been less several years. But if he didn't wanna be there, get them out and then. So now the last the long lasting legacy of Phil Jackson is the purple unicorn who dropped in his lap has been traded away for the guy that Jackson should have drafted instead of Miller kina before he left the door Dennis Smith. They're both there and hope that with Knox. And with these veterans that came that they don't win too many games continue tank, and they're doing great it lost eleven in a row, keep tanking get ping pong balls. The right way get the right free agents in if they don't they went down swinging and God bless. My two cents. Cardi everyone wants to come. Do. You wanna come? I don't know if we have enough time paraphrase what he said he basically d- committed to his recommitment to resign with Boston. The Senate makes sense keep your options. Open certainly a Anthony Davis is going to go to Los Angeles. The mix up all of these opportunities for somebody to max out like that. Yeah. His money, quote was I don't know anybody bleep. Hey, that's wonderful wonderful Celtics Knicks tonight on ESPN that's going to be as the kids say let. That's gonna be great at the sky. All right. Travis Kelsey, I up then it's drew Brees. That's the way we're rolling on our final hour here from Super Bowl fifty three in the AT L. Rich Eisen here in sports, a trade can make or break your team a good one can mean a championship. But a bad one could.

"He's answering the question before we've asked and what's the single most important they need to do to beat the patriots i need to play the national anthem form it's a it's a done deal we've got to do this we've got to figure out a way to get this done we're kenny g. gets he's worthy why wouldn't it be thank you for being with us sir yes there talk to you tomorrow thank you card this actually happened off air makes me want to punch to god's in the ear but stugatz mike ryan asked me do we want dan morley and stugatz is reflex response just spit at me was thunder dan and then he realizes in a rare moment of self awareness just what a dope he is and he says the next thing that comes out of his mouth is i can't help myself v._c.'s libertad show with his two guys on e._s._p._n. radio so allison allison is mad at me because look at charlie faking hands with big executive the love of god what a suck up believe allison is mad at me because hines ward was supposed to be here and i cancelled him because we've had too many guests today so yeah i know i make her job i make her job very difficult one of those guests though james harrison we were talking about him being the most intimidating man in football and a lot of you wrote in nominating john randall and i would have argued that yes john randall who used to do a celebration in which after he sacked the quarterback he would crawl around on all fours and then pretend to p on either a fire hydrant or said quarterback i would've agreed until i called him on a story i'd heard that i didn't know was true about the time that he wants fought with the kicker flawed as and he told this story on highly questionable four venables like all high school wrestler i made a mistake watt just like hey hon though he locked up on the ground there was one go sword who it was the wrong guy to see it randomly daniel and comes over and i'm like give me a little cut me loose give you i mean you can't you cannot lose the flood revenge because it's not just that he's the kickers god he's the rolley polley kicker remember flying horse like i some jankowski him in terms of body type did you have never knows a black belt man you never know the truth mike what's going on with cameron jordan what did he do with dan patrick all right so this sound is funny obviously the cleveland browns franchise it's been rescued baker mayfield they're no longer a laughing stock but that hasn't stopped the media from laughing at years pass we had seth wicker sham on and that was a great article and so let's laugh at the browns while we still can about this amazing draft day story because cameron jordan the saints player who still in the league has a very similar name to another player that the browns actually drafted and this is his draft experience were you ever confused with jordan cameron we got drafted i got drafted the first round he got drafted in the room for the browns called me why i was i was chilling with my delight coach bill johnson at time who's going to super bowl this year we were driving from the airport and i got a call from the browns called down they're like hey we're about this flex you like i mean i'm good actually i think i've already been selected but if you want to take that okay so you've already been taken in the first round so this was the next day right and you were going to get drafted by the brown doubt sitting there you just like i mean i'll take signing bose's bonuses but i refuse to go to cleveland yeah they've been a laughing stock for a long time so that's courtesy of the dan patrick show and i wanna get to the story and use u._s._a. today about baker mayfield stugotz because he's still sort of talking around the whole hugh jackson thing in a way that if you're gonna stare them down like that in front of all the cameras and you're the personality guy you're the quarterback who's not afraid to tell it like it is you're not afraid to feud with colin coward you you're afraid when you run from the police at one time but most of the time you're not afraid you're saying.

"Is always available for show in ways that he shouldn't be he's accomplished musician we don't we don't deserve him arriving around here the way does but i wanted to talk to you a little bit about a variety of things kenny one of them being when was the first time you on like one of oprah's first nationally televised shows when's the first time that you felt like you hit arrived that that you had gotten somewhere that perhaps you didn't expect to well by the way thanks for having me on the show that was maybe in the eighties driving down sunset boulevard and i looked up and there's a big billboard right in the middle of sunset boulevard with my face on it i thought wow that's pretty cool right by tower records talking about my new record and blah blah blah so that was that was when i thought okay this is something that i didn't expect where were you a band nerd at all like when you started dreaming about this as a career what were the what were the early stages of that like no i just played in my high school band up in seattle and just normal public high school i just played and you know for some reason i just i stood out and i just i never really thought about a career in music i just thought i'd just really liked playing my saxophone and i just kept doing it and and the jobs that i got were all sex phone related and i just kind of went into it was cool when did you know that you could be you know a legend that this make a career out of this still working on it that's my practice every day why do that every day i'm still working on it i love your horn is there any in any ways have you gotten worse or his age like age affects everyone and so no no no no gotten better better you when you practise an instrument you're going to get better no matter what you do you're gonna just get better off you and brady aged like a fine line can you tell us about the time that you got kicked off your tour bus i don't remember that well gabriel iglesias is telling the story on netflix during his comedy special that his bus driver dave who once worked for kenny g. claims kenny wants got kicked off his own tour bus over an argument with this dave character not there's no way first of all if i'm paying for if i'm paying for the bus outta boy there's no way no is going to end but he's gonna kick me off the bus calm down i've never seen this side of you kenny you sound like you're ready to shift gabriel iglesias that puts the and kenny g. man i'm gonna i'm gonna play the note that makes everybody crap their pants that's what i'm gonna do tell us about that south park episode that you were in like where did that rank in terms of career highlights that was that was one of the highlights to me i loved it i thought it was great except for the fact that it during the show i think i have sex with with another man during the show though unfortunately for my career but that's what that's what they did and and was there in any sort of echoes of south park where people you know it's such a pop culture hit where they are everyone's reaching out to you like what what is the thing that you've done that all your friends are calling you about and saying you know what that's pretty cool good question i don't know actually maybe when we know one of these times i played on the grammys or something i think that's about about about it but i don't remember not the south park as much though it was just a select few called me about that when i thought it was super funny i loved it have you had any other places along in the path where you've ended up somewhere and you've been moved emotionally i know you're very grateful for all the success that you've had all the things that you've sold but where you were just moved emotionally because you're looking around and the gratitude just overwhelmed you well there was a ceremony and it's not about record sales but i mean it is about record sales but there was a ceremony where anyone anybody that's more than ten million on one with lease we got into a room and we see this ward and i'm standing there next to billy joel elton john journey boston.

"Yeah i guess i mean everybody has their opinion i was i was a bit of a partier and i enjoyed my time at university of cincinnati he probably talked to a few people that i might have gotten drunk and pissed off i don't know in on top of that i i really don't know where they got that from because i feel like i still have a pretty good relationship with a lot of people back at the university of cincinnati a lot of the coaches that i've passed throughout throughout my career in college both the brian kelly staff butch jones staff and even the the luke fickle staff right now i think i don't know really where that all that came from i thought it was a bit unfair obviously being a little bias but just knowing that that's how some people were viewing me it kind of kind of put a little bit more fuel to the fire to really show off that i'm just a regular human being a good guy i like to live with generosity and help others man travis are going to have you defend the movie the program here because i've read it your favorite football movie all time we've been discussing favorite football movies of all time i maintain listen i love a good football movie that is the greatest preview i've ever seen the movie did not match the preview major disappointment i didn't like it at all so defend your favorite movie i mean i was i was a child so everything that was kind of silly goofy i was laughing at the time and i didn't see it in theaters or anything i think it was ten years old when i when it came out but i saw it i i've seen it was like on t._v. s. or something like that when it was on on tv and i just was sitting there laughing my tail off like man i hope college is this this seems like a blast football in college i would love to do that so if fuel the the fire that and a few other movies really helped me love football and and hope you know life is what these movies are in who was your favorite character was it steroid guy guy even knows his name steroid guy using control and just throwing throwing a needle into your man guys nuts you i don't know if people know this travis or maybe maybe i'm wrong about this aren't you about gronk size because when you're running around out there i don't understand how anyone covers you ever you're not much smaller than him are you no i would say i'd say gronk scott wider shoulders a little bit longer of arms he's probably got a engine terms of height on me but in terms of like heightened wait we're probably around the same the guys just i mean the his shoulders and his bionic arm with that arm the brace on i mean he's just he's just a physical human being out there and he's thinking i don't think we've seen something quite as big he's like a clydesdale out there man you're better than appreciate that t._v. twelve head yeah whoa that's coming from a pets fan you you've grown very weary of tom brady right you're done with him no yeah i mean i mean he's obviously the greatest quarterback that we've seen i mean the history tells it self what he was able to do in a game against us i mean just.

"Radio all throughout today love this dude for a lot of reasons not just because he's unstoppable but he's the last honest man and football not afraid to tell you what he thinks about things and doesn't much care how stuff lands so we'll talk to him about some interesting things in the second but i have to warn travis kelsey i fun digs left his phone behind accident lee stu gods told billy to steal all his contacts and not return the phone billy just told us to god's that he's got a good travis kelsey story to tell what do you have for billy all right so i'm not good at small talk as you know so i was saying hello to travis we had a couple of extra minutes and i'm just generally awkward person so we're talking about how long it's going to be here if he's going to stay for the super bowl he said no but he he'd left last year he went to the super bowl he's leaving a little early he said he stayed for the eagles last year's at you grew up in eagles fan that no my brothers on the sorry sorry billy petrov help us out here can you just give us some tips on how to make billy a little cooler is there anything that you can give us in terms of advice that billy can tape to just make him less awkward i'm looking i'll tell you what he's got the kicks on he's got he's got to go and he's got the flat berm had you know what he's he's i think he's doing all right is missing something well that's you know you've been knighted good congratulations on proud of you you've met with travis kelsey approval let's go back a second here though travis when you when you were in college and people whatever unnamed n._f._l. valuator called you a train wreck character wise what kind of job did you have that brought you away from football like what did you have to do because you're away from football for a bit well the year that i got suspended actually got kicked off the team there for summer and i was doing i would do anything really to try and grab some extra cash for the most part it was just really working for a for a student i wanna say hotline but i was calling people at at this time it was brock obama had just started up his term in he was he's trying to push medicare so we were asking people in southern ohio northern kentucky in eastern indiana about what they felt about medicare and i'll tell you what i was literally i mean it got there were some good some good questions that i was asking and the responses i was just running out of room to collect data on this on this topic because not too many people were happy the southern southern ohio northern kentucky about obama one being president or to being taking taking a lot of the money that we were making a government putting it into medicare did you that was very interesting time of my life not only did i grow up as as a human being but i got my i got a heavy dose of what reality was like outside of what i was living in well what how awful was that job and is there a particularly memorable phone call that you had while doing that job yeah i'm not gonna lie there were few that that i would rather not say on got pretty reckless man just to understand how people people think was pretty aggressive i had to get out of that job just because all i was hearing were racial slurs on the phone for no reason so it was it was pretty it was pretty bad but it was something that kind of kept me grounded and being able to push through that and get back out onto the field get back into school was definitely a big growing point in my life but unnamed talent evaluator hitting you with a train wreck character wise when you haven't had any problems in the pros other than you know andy reid is furious because you date too much on television like when when i when i say that to you your response is like what what i i'm a grain wreck character wise because i was a little dope in college.

"Ten and we move on or help me out here guys because you know over the years of lucia it's been fascinating if you've been with us for a long time it really has been like we used to talk about this stuff all the time in the way that always was bothering people stop talking about that now everybody's talking about it and we don't talk about it anymore we just sort of shuffled off colin kaepernick we were like oh they blackballed him literally all right it's been two years let's move out because it was hurting ratings it was hurting it was hurting the n._f._l. ratings it was hurting everybody's ratings because you didn't want to alienate the white man who is the majority customer we actually have some news on that front roger goodell spoke to the media and here is his take on account cabinet still not being since they anything yesterday jay friday believably that are closer than the ones on players they want on that individually of this team and something we using n._f._l. taking in maybe another all to win and the role they can win so from our point that's and writer more chan- your host why to cynically call cabinet two years i think is really what i said which is i think the team size they call them or any other player help their team win that's they wanna win tweet fall where still here we're still here we're still here can you guys look something up for me please i don't wanna get this wrong but i thought i had read a report that awhile ago that roger goodell had asked people to pick up my fam- that i that was a report i don't know that it was ever confirmed i don't remember whether it was stephen smith or someone else but that the cowboys i think ended up with michael sam according to a report that i have not i'm speaking recklessly here because i don't know what i'm saying right now is true and i don't know the validity of the reports of forgive me as the crew tries to clean up janitorial behind me but roger goodell stu gotz did this press conference yesterday does it every year and it is such fo- journalism that it's funny because he gets out in front of us and then we wave our pitchforks and torches at him make it look like journalism ask the tough questions he wiggles around doesn't say anything and then the super bowl is the highest rated thing in the history of super bowl and we move on and we move onto the next time and then you know when he gets into some trouble everyone at the network starts yelling that he should be fired and then he's not fired but what ends up happening hey never mind about making my salary public we'll do that private now right we're gonna go ahead and sign an extension let's keep my salary and private going forward so it really is just a bunch of talk the media doesn't actually have any power over this man because the angry mob has come at him and fallen feet and he's got a pay raise right he's got an extension and he does these press conferences every year and they're fundamentally useless there is nothing in their state of the union i mean he controls the conversation he controls but it might as well be like you know it might be like an infomercial or not nothing says matters because he's not going to say anything he's just going to sit there and give the company line and take whatever it is forty four million dollars for being opinion like it he's the things that the things that we do as an exercise super bowl we it's just content it doesn't mean anything and the n._f._l. doesn't care whether you think that it's controversial content or not as long as you tune in on sunday that's all they care about seems like a nice job an easy job i have found an article that backs up your claim from the new york times and that was repurpose by deadspin and and fat sis in which there was institutional pressure from roger goodell it also goes on to point the roger goodell has gay brother and he protected them from bullies when they were children that's all we need to do is get roger goodell black brother donlevatar is funny to hear stu gods and how generally resistant he is to knowledge yep it's the key to the show manip- stugatz mugica figured out the secret sauce dexter knowledge is my kryptonite live at our show with two guys on e._s._p._n..

"The show the microphone is behind his head it's perf imperfect billy style we'll go out there in a second but i want to give you a sneak peek into the inner workings of the shadows here and the mind of roy bellamy who every once in a while just out of nowhere lobs some sort of race related grenade in my direction some news story he found on twitter i'm just sitting here minding my own business trying to ward off the sausage fingers and hot takes stu gods and then roy comes in here and gives me a perfectly valid opinion on something that we should be talking about the race related yes he's always steering the ship in that direction yesterday you might have heard sports flash a sports center update it included something about colin kaepernick i was a cabinet we're still we're there okay we are we are still like we're still here where's here but i just want you to see if you can spot in the next thirty seconds low or so where it is that roy's imprint might be felt because their stuff to talk about here but before we go any further i have only one birthday wish to grant today i don't have any other choices i don't know who else is birthday it is other than happy one hundredth birthday to jackie robinson happy birthday to him i don't care good luck the big one oh man at the century mark triple digits is it though this is it if you're dead is is still celebrate birthdays well no put it on the poll at lebatardshow is one hundred birthday to celebrate if you're dead and have been for quite some time yeah okay sure what his lives on he's still here he's still here good law he's still here good luck i made a flippant point the other day without explaining it and because it was poorly explained it didn't have much validity as an argument but we were talking about the top five football movies of all time and blindside was number one and what i was trying to say that i did not say in michael or not liking the movie and not feeling like it's real as human rhapsody comes under criticism because of bunch of stuff in the movies made up michael or doesn't like the movie because he doesn't like how he's portrayed as a bit of a giant oaf who needs the white rescue of sandra bullock so she can win an oscar that was my objection that's what that is my objection that being the number one movie of all time it a group of people including the person that required rescue from the white savior okay you felt the need to come back a couple of days later to clean that up somehow feels even more shoehorned now possible thanks dan it's super bowl week why can i talk about greatest football move of all time i'm offended that the top five didn't include the longest yard i'm offended nobody's got a rebuttal to that i i mean i feel the same way about green book which is nominated for academy award this year it justin timberlake's birthday a whole lot of a whole lot of black people didn't like crash the way that crash tackled like the way hollywood sometimes the wards movies awards for racial early i don't even what honestly i was moving off the longest yard was dead fish took me a minute that that that so we have the magic crate of content here we will go out to billion alison in a second there's large man sitting behind them on radio row that the same engineer from yesterday who was wearing the flannel shirt or is that a different engineer because radio row is totally said he's tired man cold evidently bill your thoughts it's a really routine to save he's a lovely man okay good work by you dollars so here is a very unfortunate thing that we have pulled out of the magic crate of content it simply says no question today dan as you were so as i was saying the blind side who f- and crash as movies that when oscars are winning oscars largely voted by a segment of the population for a segment of the population while excluding another segment of the population i'm not saying they shouldn't win oscars i'm saying that hollywood doesn't do a great job of tackling racial politics i found a list here where the longest yard is in the top.

Lemme Don you out but telling everybody how you you. You scare deliver hell out of me. I say this that was real man. I know that I know that I'm. Spoke out of turn y'all. I spoke out of turn. Okay. Because I didn't agree with something that James Harrison said about the league in particular Roger Goodell. Well, damnit me being brave. I showed up to Monday night football game with the Steelers at FedEx field because to watch the Redskins. And I went to lock rule and who was standing outside waiting for me. Look, I said Lord have mercy. What about got myself into I want you. Remember that joke. Martin Lawrence once told he said a Mike Tyson. It might might say so vicious Mike Tyson was the type of person that if you will with your woman, and he did something you wrote up which she do what she do. You. Don't know what I'm saying. That's how James Harrison looked at me that night. But we ended up on. I'm sorry, man. Yeah. We we been good since then you understand how long I was looking for you at that. Before that. You're absolutely Bodo for second. Okay. Tom brady. We talk about this guy. Oh, he's gotta go. I'm sorry. My bed James go ahead man, go because he's doing some stuff. Go ahead. Take off. Last question to you Tom Brady is he the greatest greatest quarterback. Yes. Ever ever without question. What question you can't before? I actually watched and seeing him how he goes about his way of studying and getting ready for game. I would have said no I'd have been like a Montana type of fan. You know what I'm saying? No, it's him. I'm sorry. It's him. I'm not him. I respect the coming from you, bro. I respected coming from you. Thanks a lot, man. All the best to you. I'll see you soon. All right. "In terms of how are you looking at New England Los Angeles Rams if you have a concern for if you're the New England Patriots. What is your primary concern going up against the Rams? Oh, it's easy. But Donald and sue on need to need to find a way to get enough time to get the ball out. Less simple for. Oh for that office of line that they're gonna have their hands full. See this is the thing when I think about Amazon and think about how you know. I don't want to say he was neutralize because so much about the game extends beyond numbers numbers. Don't tell the whole story, but safe to say that when you look at Aaron Donald against the New Orleans Saints, for example, or particularly against the Dallas Cowboys in Dhamma can sue stole the show that game because of the pressure. He applied up the middle. And obviously they were able to neutralize Zeke Elliott for running the football. But I think that had a lot to do with not having to worry too much about Dak Prescott throwing the football. Clearly within the case of Tom Brady. You got to worry about him throwing the football. So my question to you would be this. So an Machel particularly into a lesser degree James white how much do how much damage do you think they could potentially do against the Rams even before Tom Brady? Alexa, Doda football. Well, my thing is they're going to be doing the most damage from Tom Brady him the ball, though. If it comes a point in time where they can't get down the field. You know, the patriots are known to take what you give them. If you're going to try and take away deep stuff. They're gonna take the short stuff. You want to take away to shore stuff? They'll they'll try and get to the enemies. Stop is just Bella. Check has a great understanding of what? They're trying to do. And what it is that he's going to have to do to make up for what they're taking away. James Harrison, right here was Stephen eight years, Pierre radio ESPN news. We haven't talked enough about showing McVay, and the reason I bring that up to coach for the Los Angeles Rams sit is because throughout the last year or the last two regular seasons. All you heard was Sean McVay show. I'm in vain show McVeigh and what he brings to the table. Obviously they lost their lone playoff game against the Atlanta Falcons last year in this, particular instance, they get to the Super Bowl by beating Dallas and then by beating New Orleans, but usually when we talk about the Rams and they're winning. We talk about showing McVeigh when we talk about the losing. We talk about somebody else. What about that match up with Sean McVay going up against Bill Belichick? How can you? How do you see that happening? To be honest with you, I feel like that will double checks better coast. I don't think anybody would go against that is the young gun that's up and coming, but I feel like this going to be a chess match, and I feel like the one that can come in adjust to what is being done to them in the first or second quarter the first half of the game and come out and execute that. We'll do the team that a win. James Harrison, right. He was leaving ESPN radio. ESPN news. We look at the Rams Jared Goff. How good do you think? This guy is. And how big do you think he's ready for this kind of stage considering the fact that not only is he in the Super Bowl? But a third year quarterback is going up against Bill Belichick. Yeah. I think he's very I mean, he obviously worked its way to get there. You know up until the last few games of the play offs. I was I was a little I was a little worried but seeing how McVay adjusted to how he's using. And the things that you know, he's doing to ensure that you know, he plays a complete game rather, he's, you know, play action hen in the baller or having to go and pass it down the field from start to finish on. He's he's managed acting and got him back to playing at the level that you know, we've seen me play earlier in the year James James Harrison, right here with Steven A on behalf of Hardy's, by the way, talk to me about what you're doing with them doing SuperBowl weakening right now,.

Who is the most intimidating man in the history of the NFL?

"Who is the most intimidating man in the history of the NFL since you brought it up. Meantime, for some reason is sitting in the seat of Billy Gill. A Hello to see you. You can check out her podcast with their dog als. Ada has to be in that conversation was the most intimidating man in the history of football. We about to have him on the line, James Harrison. Or is there someone else you would nominate in the conversation with James Harrison? It's Lawrence Taylor. I think that's I don't want to say that in front of James Harrison. He's not on yet. Right James hers and joins us now on ESPN radio. Thank you for your contributions. You know, always solid James. Is there anyone that you've run across? And thank you for joining us where you're like. Yeah. That guy is comparable to me in terms of giving off menace and fear. And this person is not to be trifled with. That I've run across personally. I would say, you know, like like, Greg, Lloyd. And that's a good. That's that. Yeah. Yeah. He you gotta you gotta go back a little further. Yeah. Met amac Lambert. He was a guy that had. And I would have to agree with LT. They go. They don't have to worry about it. He James Harrison agrees with you. Even though Meena is mortified now that she said that around Dame's Harrison who's a guy James if you don't mind, and by the way, he's a five time pro bowler. He's a two-time champion. He was the two thousand eight NFL defensive player of the year. And he played till thirty eight years old thirty nine years old. Who's a guy though, James that you looked at in terms of body because your weight room freak? And you're like that guy should be bigger. He's got all the muscles. He looks the part that guy should be better. At what it is that he's doing. You know, it's a number of, you know, I wanna you know, like name a lot of guys that look like Tarzan play lights ain't so I just had to be forced to look like Tarzan and trying to a little bit like through. Was there any issue in these Steeler locker room when you were there that James Harrison had to be summoned to go fix? Not really I mean, the only things, you know, if you know, we weren't planned up to par you know defense. And it was something that needs to be said, you know, if I talked, and, you know, people listening because I felt that off. So if James Harrison had been a Steeler last year, and you know, lady on bell is not around. None of this happens. You just you just drag wavy on unbelted facility by his hair like air, you're gonna play and you're gonna get in the huddle, no way no way that is this decision, but is for each individual. And I cannot comment or another man's money or how each shoes to make or not make that much. I haven't how about Antonia because if you're on the team, and he's already played all the games and you're in a big spot trying to make the playoffs is anto Brown playing Sunday that final week of the season. If James Harrison tells them the plot. That that was a decision that obviously to him from what I heard, you know, the press conference released that might sound at that was something that Tom decision. Also that is not up to my decision. You know, you can't go ahead. Hey. Hey.

"As much of America's say who that is this man who we talked about all the time. But we talk about we. But America, you got you gotta get the split screen. He fully appreciate. My favorite song. Handsome is this guy gonna see helmet more often? Right. Handsome. Oh my God. Say what Antonio? That I got. The doctor. Double body. These saying my prerogative that was the song. And is there any human being let alone athlete who more? Sincerely believes in the message by rocketed than Antonio Brown right down the thing about my Braga visit. Because that question why won't y'all just let me live a rhetorical question. We have things that we want you to stop doing. Now. This was taped in June. Right. This is the first of the show. I have honestly surprised that they deemed in famous enough to put out there now because he's not a great receiver. But because he plays with a helmet on right? How exciting where the producers of this show when they found out that do didn't play this weekend and all the drama started up. Oh, this was perfect for everybody including Antonio ground whose other claim to fame, by the way as a football player as a marketed football player is being the first guy on the cover of Madden without the helmet. Smart play not that that necessarily helped in terms of recognition here. But this imagine being Mike Tomlin and being at home. And then what happens you're comes to you. Sees his over. Now. Finally, I gotta watch TV shows while woman that I would not watch. Otherwise, they'd he's sitting there the whole way Antonio Brown. Pops up. Mike Tomlin could have been on Silas. I've been mushrooms and not have hallucinated a better more perfect vision than that as that is insane with the timing of this. This report was so crazy to me about it is this is done Jones has done way back. So it's not like, I don't think anything that happened last week was in anticipation of this though is not something I would necessarily put pass in Tonio Brown. Yeah. I don't think that's what happened here. But lucky for them. It's all happening right now. They kinda sorta have a chance to fix all of this. As this goes down the live, right? Kind of Florida. You're betting that this is kind of an Tonio Brown getting everything out of his system that maybe we now know all the cards that are on the table. But let me ask you a question. Where's that James Harrison other video where's that coming out because every day new content from this man keeps emerging? And he beautiful smog. Well, here's the here's the thing that he wants. No. And I say this with no judgment. I feel I this is indisputable save in effect. He just wants us to look at him. What that is correct. He wants us to observe him. He wants to feel as though he is important in that way. That is what compels you to be the guy during the post game talk after a playoff game to just stand on Facebook live just looking at yourself a half hour that was it like if you think about it. And it wasn't like it was some production. Like he was talking over my top. It was just looking at out. Look at me. The leaking of the confidential information from that meeting was incidental to just thirty minutes. Selfie that in Tonio Brown whose good yes. Congratulations. Producers of the mass singer, absolutely got everything you got all of this. What a weird Korean reboot game show that landed at Arles one of those absolute new every day..

"That's not a bad one because it has like five seconds of warning before. Shout score eighty one just comes in. The whole marching band. Don't you think you'll start hating it though? It's such a good song start hating. Well, I mean, I think I'm already passed it. Running my life there early was awesome. Now, it's like I do need to stop snoozing in workout in the morning. I've had the same long cloth for three years. What is it soundtracks in my life kick Cutty base to never got tired of it? I just use the standard run because I've fucking hate it. So that way, I don't snooze. Ways Harrison had to do story. What is they doing? Now. Himself working on the Jim he can bitched out on that interview fucking around. I don't think he's digs on James Harrison a bitch. No, no logjam serves didn't say it was bitch. You love James Erhard love James said he'd bitched out on doing the interview was it him or was it or was AB probably both of those who is that there. Oh, wow. So a bitch and mother fuckers. Yeah. Yeah. Actually. Yeah. I did say that. Oh my God. Matriarch after block. Backpedal on that one as fast as possible he was invited back three weeks ago. I think for an anniversary of the Super Bowl or something like that. You know, he was on the field having a good time. Good. And then he does this James Harrison. What is this? What did he do? He's he's been a bad influence on ABC's a bad influence. Yeah. They were working out together earlier this year. And now he's hanging out with them the day after he doesn't show up for practice and a game. He's a bad influence probably extremes heresy telling them having a rough day. Now, you're joining me now. You out James Harrison. I'm just saying he's about influence using using Antonio Broncos the patriots. I think it's a possibility. The possibilities trades work. Connor I understand that. You think the Steelers would be hey patriots. Take our best ones goes your Luke first round. They're they're not paying anybody else. So they didn't play their best player gonna do. What does? He what is. He said he basically saying he doesn't like him. So if Tomlin's back next year AB can't be literally kid, I understand. He's probably most likely going to be traded. It's not going to be the fucking patriots bit of how are they going to be at? How are they going to be able to control that traits? Yeah. Like, how do you think they're going to be able to you don't think they're gonna take the best offer? You think it's absolutely will not trade him within the AFC unless it's still like the AFC south or something. They would never trade him to rival for the jets or the dolphins are someone that doesn't fucking matter. So you don't think they'll cut them? You think it's gonna be a trade? So why are you just not gonna show up next year? Because I mean, if they if It's gonna be like. be like year two thousand percent going to be like, why would they give him to the team that instantly? He may make them a Super Bowl champions. No. Yeah. You do shit. Like that. When you're the Browns Chicago Bears, the whole. Yeah. Yeah. They're oil. They're picks of the raiders Africa Lille you need picks. I mean, that's what they're gonna ask for a first round picks raiders Packers. The rumor is nine. A picks because a kid all patted him following the forty Niners. I g so that's picked win you think? Gruden and mayo you think Gruden may lose. Now, the GM of the raiders, do you think they would want to pull the trigger on and Tonio Brown?.

James Harrison says Le'Veon Bell should return to Pittsburgh Steelers, then fake injury to avoid games

"If you're like me in there, some of you that are, you've got levian bell on your fantasy football team, and you're just waiting. And the way this thing is set up to go is that levian Bill wants to record the twenty nineteen season as service time, which means he doesn't have to show up until November the six, twenty eight season. Yeah. Or or week ten of the season. James Harrison, his teammate today suggested he should come in November, sixteenth, and then faking injury. So he doesn't have to play a single game for the Steelers this year and still becomes an unrestricted free agent after the year. Now, here's a, here's something interesting if the Steelers trade levian bell and there are rumors that they're, they're going to trade him or at least are feeling teams up. The jets are one team that that expressed interest, they would receive a third round compensatory pick in the twenty nineteen draft the upcoming draft. Okay, if a trade him if they trade him, okay. If they just wave him, just say, were sending the franchise tag you go or ever. You want health fellow well met, you get you get a third round compensatory pick in the twenty nineteen draft if they wait until after the season and after the Super Bowl and they decide levian bell leaves, they get a competitor. Ori pick, but it's not till twenty twenty. So in order to get a pick in this upcoming draft, they've got a trade or waive him during this season. So there's incentive there actually is because if you trade 'em you're taking on another salary and other contract, James Connors been pretty effective in very effective. Yeah. Who would have thought that it would end that way? You know there's enough teams that like really could use a running back like Seattle could really use a running back. I could like I, if if you could send him there, Detroit like desperately needs a running, especially a guy but the, but the problem is the same for anybody else. Are you gonna give him? Are you gonna pay him big, right? If he's unrestricted, free it. And how much money are you willing to pay? Levian bell. I'm trying to think what is what is girls number Todd, Gurley nineteen. I think he got nineteen million and I think fifty million guaranteed is levian bell. Gonna get fifty million dollars guaranteed out there. I'm not sure that that's their anywhere else. Yeah, I would see because I think if he got traded, he'd have to prove his worth in running backs. Frankly, don't get traded that often, Eric dickers- and got traded Marshall. Faulk got traded. Even if he gets trade like you can't really trade for them. Because the situation is the same. He can still hold out to week ten and record a year of service time. Agent contract you once he has no incentive to come
