"Focus on in two thousand twenty one being creative and thinking outside the box and that to me is never gonna change twenty twenty one twenty twenty five twenty fifty if you're not willing to be creative and think outside the box then don't expect to become the best in your field because if you're the type of person just willing to be average then i feel sorry for you. I really mean that because average to me. It's a waste of time. You have to believe in yourself. You have to be creative in order to do so. You have to sit down and get created by thinking outside the box to become successful and i think especially at a time like now west. So much is changing. Lifestyles shifting people's perspectives. Changing therefore you have to change with the time get creative and and think about how you can separate yourself from everyone else and be the best version of yourself. Fantastic moving to what you're doing now. What happened to the podcast. I i was enjoying that positively chaotic. What happened positively chaotic. Were james harris was a podcast that i just was passionate about. I wanted to hear about major entrepreneurs and celebrities. And the reason i did the podcast and the title of the podcast was. I wanted people to hear other people's stories of their road journey to success. Because i think so. Many people look at a celebrity or a millionaire or a billionaire and perhaps think it was an easy road. And i wanted to see how positively chaotic that journey really was the ups the downs of where they started when they lost everything how they got it back how they became who they ought today and we wrote it man. I had probably ten twelve guests on the poco. The numbers were going through the roof. I got offered a superb deal from a big pook cost company. And i had to make a really big personal decision on that podcast which to look at my career. My agency business might pop mishit. Wed david were taking this business and we have some really goals of where we want this business to go. We had some really big dreams of where we want this business to go and at the beginning of the year i spoke with my wife i spoke with david and i just realized that i can't do everything and i can't be the jacob old trades and i have to focus my attention right now on my business on the show on development and i just cannot fit everything into a twenty four hour time periods. The cost will definitely come back in the near future. It's a passion of mine. I love being guests costs with great people like yourself on. It will be back and glad that you asked me the question. Yeah we'll we'll be watching for dammit. Ricky we blame ricki ricki. Exactly we blame rookie okay. So what's next for james harrison. The team in twenty twenty one you said you have big goals any specific goals. You want to share absolutely man. It's no secrets i think. The goals are to continue rising to continue growing. We wanna organically scale besides about team. We wanna bring young hungry agents. That are ambitious to be successful. We want to set up a development company fund where we go out and help his buy real estate and invested to real estate and at the same time. Nothing needs to be rushed. You know. i've always been a very lead person and salesman get sold. And so if i hear an idea and i like it on. Let's go but i'm all about this yet. Just slowing down thinking about my decisions having a strategy in place as you know i now have a business coach to bounce ideas off someone that i trust implicit knee and for me. It's all about slowing down taking two steps back so that i can take five steps forward and that's exactly what we're in business and the growth about business and eighteen and there's a lot of exciting things to come. Yeah that's awesome. You can only know where you're going is sometimes when you have a coach you know so. I think it's really important especially in real estate to have a coach. I agree with you there where things stand with. Million dollar listing. Los angeles is in a holding pattern. Is it filming. what's going on. I have no idea how ons to that but we are looking good and we are definitely coming back at. I'll just say this. It's gonna be incredible. That's all i can say on the matter but it's going to be really incredible Looking forward to it. I i just found out about this that you had some beef with madison hildebrand. Right yeah you watch. The show. Geared played ten seasons in like. I can't remember where that was but you had some beef with him is. Is that a legit beef. That's legit beef. I had done something super unethical. On a co listing that we had together rebounded he was trying to sell another property whilst we were selling that one to people that we had brought to an event anyway. We don't need to relive that moment but yeah no. I'm definitely not a finance shore. Okay and then. Where do things stand with you and josh altman. Are you guys going for beers now. Definitely not You know i will tell you this. Josh and i have zero in common except we both love estate of we both have an incredible passion to work hard and be successful We couldn't be more opposite but that doesn't mean that. I don't highly respect josh. And his entire team hustle. Because they're hogwash. because they get shit done With just incredibly different in the way we do everything. I'll say it like that. Fantastic now james. Final question you're opening a bottle of champagne one year from now celebrating. Something you've accomplished. What would that be my family period. I mean what my parents were. Eleven years ago versus what they ought. Today i come home to this mad house every single evening to swimming children. Bolivia my wife. And i just count my blessings every day man. I had such crazy childhood. Such a strange upbringing with being kicked out of schools left right and said and not knowing where i was going to land. And i got an amazing mother. Now lives in california with made a beautiful wife. Two children are blessed to have. And that's a celebration. I get to enjoy every day. That's awesome you know. James always a great time with you really appreciate you jumping on with us talking about the current state of luxury real estate in southern california. Along with what. It's going to take to be successful for sales professionals and entrepreneurs in two thousand nine hundred ninety one. We're also looking forward to having at the greater property group mastermind in the in the next couple of weeks i think on march sixteenth. So that'd be fun. I look forward to that man. "I would say the same thing to a struggling agent for covid as i would said to the struggling agent pre covid. You know especially now because you're struggling. This is not vacation side. This is a time to be preparing to setup for the future. This is the time where you have to identify. Who you are is what separates you from the competition. What is your unique selling point you going to sell do. The us is the way everybody else is selling them. I think struggling agents may look at successful agents and think. What the hell are we doing differently at. How can i be more like that us instead of them thinking what makes me unique. What makes me. And i think a lot of these agents needs to truly believe in themselves and they need to find the strengths and they need to act on those strengths and they need to think about outside of the box creative ways to market themselves they need to get out of that comfort zone out of that comfort zone and start doing things that make them uncomfortable and i think once you can really understand who you are as a person of what makes you unique and you can go out and press because you'll being true to whom you are adia so we'll get you back to the show in just a few moments. Were pausing here to remind you that this podcast as always brought to you by the greater property group real estate brokerage as mentioned that greater property group is proud to offer our scholarship program. Are you new to the industry or thinking about getting a real estate license if you are. You're want to ask about the greater property groups new agent scholarship program. Why pay for the full cost of licensing yourself when the gp will help subsidized costs. Additionally if you're already a real estate agent or associate the greater property group is also proud to offer our best of everything fee plan for sales professionals. What's the best of everything plan. what would you say. Two zero monthly fees no splits and one hundred percent plan. Yes it's true. It's possible to keep your money and pay no monthly fees at the brokerage hit us up for details on either of these programs or additional info about the greater property group. And what we're doing to help real estate agents grow and scale their business in a changing industry go to greater property group dot com slash careers or email info at greater property group dot com back to the show. Yeah i love the way your breakdown. Unique selling propositions and differentiator is unique. You have to have them as a young agent. You know you have to have something to make you know. I'm glad you touched on that. I wanna get your opinion on the brokerage community. We've talked about this before. We believe the pandemic sped things up from a brokerage point of view. You touching on the future of the traditional box brand brokerage. I know how you felt a year ago. But what are your thoughts now. I don't believe in the word traditional pyramids right. So i'm not going to throw out brokerage names but it's all at and again. This is a very personal onset. But i don't believe in anything being traditional. I think if you're gonna go to one of these substandard brokerages to waste personally. Cause everything about where. You're going to hang. Your license is going to be traditional sub-standard. I believe in a boutique. Brokerages created brokerages. Forward thinking brokerages brokerages the understand the times of shifting lock. It is shifting. They need to ship with. I think that you'll in this business. Absolutely everything i think. The perception of who you are is absolutely everything. And i think if you're gonna go and hang your sales buskens license at an brokerage you better believe that they can provide value to you that they can help you. Run your business. The come most successful create uniqueness in new your brand and your business and if that brokerage Provide those things for you. Then what the hell are you gonna go high on your license there and give them twenty thirty forty fifty percent of your commission so my thing is think wisely. That is my opinion. Yeah well said well said What's is a psl muscian that right. It's the payless p. Sorry what is the p. L. s. p. s. is the property listing subis-. It's the platform that we created to help empower agents put the control back into the hands of the real estate agents and give them yet another unique to to be creative and to think outside of the balls and all we're trying to do is we've created this platform specifically for real estate agents is allow them to launch a property on friday. And it doesn't go on the mls 'til monday which is within the click cooperation rolls. It allows that agent to put that property out bed to those real buyers. We have a lot of other key components to the platform is now accessible to the general public. If they want to come and find properties and again it's just taking on companies like zillow that are really taking the power of way from the agents and we're trying to put it back into the hands of the ancients so i do recommend signing up interesting. Okay thanks for breaking that down and telling us what that's all about okay. What can you say about motivation to have success as an entrepreneur as a sales professional you need to be a self starter right. You need to be motivated however some are finding it difficult to find. That spark get motivated again. Any advice there but invasion came in its everything. You don't have the motivation to be successful. How can you be successful. If you don't have the motivation to be kayla. How could you be the best version of yourself. If you don't have the motivation to get out of bed every day and be the best version it goes up how you supposed to do it. So without motivation. You're not thick. And i believe that no matter what business you walk in you have to be passionate about it. You have to love it you to sleep. It envision it manifest stat. And if you don't have any of that you don't have anything because to become the best version of yourself. It starts with the motivation behind you and for me what i get to get up do every single day my life. I'm passionate about it. I love it. I want to be the best in it. I want to be competitive. And i want to be the best in it and that starts with motivation. So the first thing i'd say is if you're in a business that doesn't motivate you. You're in the wrong business. Can so i always believe it starts with you right. It's like When you're on an airplane. And i love it so much. And they're going through the security debriefing and they bring down the mosque. What's the first thing they say putting yourself first so that you can take care of someone next to you right so for me. The the the motivation before even having motivation. You don't have to work on yourself so you can go out and take care of those and motivate others and be of service to others right so my whole thing is. I'm going to work myself. So that i can help. And if i walk on myself. I can motivate myself in the komo. Motivate ovens same is in businessman. Carry a self us. You can take care of others do the walk. spend the time on. Come the best measuring yourself. You can be can go out. And help us yeah great great thoughts perfect illustration perfect illustration okay. What's the most important thing for sales professionals real estate agents and entrepreneurs to.

"Today we welcome back against we all know and love. James harris the star of bravo's million dollar listing los angeles a man who brings his perfect blend of british style and american drive to the show. He and his business partner david. Parts specialized in high end. Residential real estate in southern california their no nonsense approach to closing deals coupled with their extensive network of high net worth international and domestic clients means that they continue to close deals and set records with a listing portfolio. I think of around billion dollars might be one point five. I'm not sure we'll find out james. Welcome back to the run. Gpa podcast david gp g. It's so good to be back. Thank you for having me. And i always love being a guest on your podcast. How are you good james. And this is becoming a thing. Just had ryan sir went on the show a few days ago and both of you are now to time guest alumnis so yes so congrats on that. Thank you so much and we. I'm sure both big fans of you and you'll poke cost. And i always tell you this. Your branding is on point. I give you ten out of ten on your branding. The music behind the images. The graphics a great job on everything. You'll doing david. thanks james. we like it. You know you and i talked a little bit over. The past year came to the gp boot camp as a guest speaker. That was really cool and then we talked and text a few times. So i know what you've been up to for the most part and we'll get to your business and not your podcast now but it will be good to get your perspective on on what's happened on the west coast over the past year and where it's going you know again. We had sir hand on the podcast a few days ago and we got his perspective on the east coast. You know what was happening at the epicenter of the pandemic in new york so just like in new york. La or los angeles seems to be a ground zero for the pandemic in california over the past year so from a business perspective from a business perspective. How is the real estate market and your business affected last year. Like how did you and your team cope with the pandemic so great question You know when the pandemic started in early march of twenty twenty. I think we all were home. Terrified what's going to happen. What's next where do we go from here. Is this gonna be like two thousand eight where we're going to go into a recession. When are we gonna come out of it. We've never seen anything like this. And i think a lot of the younger agents started to shift that mentality whilst we were stuck at home. We took to social media. We did Panels we we went digital and we sort of business whilst we will unlock down so the second the pandemic hit in early march of twenty twenty. I think everybody was terrified. Where are we gonna go from here. All we going into a two thousand eight global recession. We've never seen anything like kobe. Nineteen before at least not in our lifetime. And i think a lot of real estate agents at that moment to digital media social media we shifted perspective whilst we were stuck at home and we stayed front and center but the second that real estate was deemed essential at least in the state of california of we were allowed out of the real estate market was immediately on fire and i believe strongly the reason for that is that kovic changes people's lifestyles right. You can no longer go to a gym. Children are no longer going to school. Parents are no longer going to an office. Therefore people's lifestyles are changing. They need a home office. gem a place for the children to zoom. People immediately. Wanted most security. They wanted gates. And you look at all of that. As a lifestyle shaft coupled with low interest rates it set the market on fire and so from that the market just started to rally and buyers were buying sellers with selling. It was actually the first time in my career. Where i can ever say. I sold both abayas and sellers market. It was really at still is a very interesting interesting. What happened to the luxury market in los angeles like how has that affected. The luxury market stayed very strong. I mean i can tell you. The last year we saw sales in the range of strategy to one hundred million that would probably minimum of ten to fifteen up the big fifty two hundred and fifty million dollar transactions. Loss year I can tell you that david of myself closed. Ninety-three transactions in twenty twenty which is more volume transactions than we'd ever done in a single. Yeh in a career. A lot of those deals in the two to twenty million dollar range But a luxury market is haw. That's no international market because the ball does a shutdown so everything mitch trading right. Now is domestic. So we're seeing a lot of northern california moved to southern with seeing a lot of east coast moved to the west coast and l. a. The way it's been founded on the lifestyle it provides and so we're really seeing that in full effect is time. Awesome good to hear. So you've always had tremendous success Year-over-year obviously the pandemic didn't stop you either. So what did you do to stay focused. Okay staying focused in the pandemic so let me take it right back to. When the pandemic started in march twenty eight. I went into a state anxiety. Worry fair Everything i'd worked so hard towards non-english rule of these years how to overcome fair how to step in front of anxiety was gone. It was wasted at and go to bed at night are annoyed Scared i was in seoul fame mode and after about two weeks i said to myself and i remember it clearly going to bed at night. That's it i'm done. I'm getting right back to where. I am going to wake up tomorrow morning. I'm going to implement all the rules. At what so hard. To learn false evidence appearing rail fare and faith cannot coexist the opposite of fair is faith all the same day. Say over and over and over again. Because if i say i believe i live i mean and i went to bed one night and i said i'm going to wake up tomorrow morning in living faith. I'm going to get out of the ferrum gonna absolutely believe that. Everything's gonna be okay and the next day immediately took to social media. I started to jump onto panels. I started to hold my own panels. I started to get created. I started to think outside of the box ways to market my business. I started to move. Everything was in printed media to digital media. And i realized that times what changing right there in front of us and we had to change with those times and with that jumped in front of everything i got busy. Got excited. I got rid of staff and that was when we just started to take off man and and and begin to focus of reshift might perspective and energy and that's when everything changed and that's when business started to get busy again things became exciting again and i accepted that i had no control over coded on the pandemic and i accepted. I could only control me. Not that and the moment that mindset mindset shift took place. Everything changed for me. Yeah that's great. You know as a as i mentioned in as you're mentioning you guys did okay. But i know i know you and i know how hard you guys work. So it's not a fluke that you were closing deals. Setting records had one of the best years ever however the pandemic has affected many agents in some markets. At what would you say to the agent. What would you say to the struggling agent. Coming out of this. Who's living paycheck.

"I am your ring Master James Harris. You will have a shot at winning a $1000 at the top of the hour. Make sure you are tuned in way. Just had Professor Ilan worm in in the centering. And I have to be honest with you. What he talked about is kind of blowing me away. We had a professor on last last week. Right before he was going into court. He has the opportunity to question to ask questions of Dr Chris And the Dr Marjorie vessel. She's the chief clinic officer for banner Health. And what you found out. Is that the doctor Chris admitted that she had no knowledge of any covert 19 infections being tracked back to businesses. That remains shut down under Lord Deuces Executive order. Let me send it again. She admitted that she had no knowledge ofthe any covert 19 infections being tracked back to businesses that remain shut down under Lord do she's executive order? I'm serious. And then from Dr Marjorie Bess Oh, chief clinical officer for Better health. He found out Does. She didn't consider the bl in protests as a source for a case Spike. When asked if she had considered the impact of the black lives matter. Protests on the supposed spike that we had, She said. She had not place it into her timeline. She didn't So so, so the people who are abiding by the law They're the ones that get you know the investigation get tested gets shut down, but the people who are breaking the law were in the streets. The people were out there. Protest ng. There they go. They live in our society, but you're not going to consider the impact of that hat. You know? This is completely out of whack. And we've got the republic to come out with a huge story last week, you know, and news outlets across the country there were claiming, claiming that a new study from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention has found that masks Have slowed the spread of covert 19 in Arizona. Oh, yeah. Then when we talked to the top health officials in the state They don't have any science to support was going on. And you know what? You don't have any science to support that masks. Have led to A drop of Cove it in Arizona. From the hill to Arizona outlets. The reports implied a cause ality between a drop in covert 19 cases and masked man dates. But you know what one doesn't exist. Dr Waterman. I should say Professor women Is doing us a world of service. You heard him say he suspects he's going to lose because because you know what the game is rigged. It's rigged up. Once Dr Chris admitted that she has not talked to Governor Ducey since August 10th and they're supposed to be reviewing every two weeks. They haven't talked since August. The tent They haven't talked in three months. Yet the emergency order continues to exist. Yup. I This is stunning to me. And what stunning to me. Is that this was not being blasted all over the state. Both will we get is propaganda. We get propaganda from our media, the blast that all over the state propaganda But when it comes to the science when it comes to the numbers, even our health professionals admit they don't know. They haven't considered it. This is shocking. I'm Dr Chris admitted that she had no knowledge of any covert 19 infections being traced back to businesses that remains shut down under Ducey. She has no knowledge. You have no evidence of it. We have the governor running around, saying that the state is open, but it's not. This is crazy. I am telling you, this is bizarre. At 803. We're going to talk to representive. What Blackman. He was out at a black site rally and something is going on with the with the with the walkaway movement with the blacks. If movement there's the Democrats have done really damage to themselves. We're going to get the latest. So what's going on with that? Also, we've got Trump hate on full blast. They are marching to the election. They're pulling out all the stops there, even reaching back. I'm bringing old style haters back to the table to go off on President Trump will cover that.

"I just did not know there's a slippery slope when you get into trying to find young people to walk so and I think that's also issue would be a so young and watching for pornography that you get into rounds that are not that are not safe or you start indulging things that are harmful to the people whoever filmed you know you could be participated in this up the really fucked up and not know That's something that could be talked about when it comes to sex ED, but nobody's bringing those conversations up. So. If you're in a position to shed light on these things, put this some curriculum or something feel free to go ahead and do because. These conversations that people that we need to have sexual liberation is for adults only. Is for adults only guys. Okay. Okay. Last. Thing that I'm going to talk about last little sub topic I'm GonNa, talk about is Kamala Harris being the president with. Joe Biden now because of the way that people have been responding to Kamala. Hair the way that black people have been responding to Kamala Harris and all the confusion has been going on recently this is why we don't want to speak into existence but I must say is that people have been saying who's going to be president and The way it's looking. I don't see enough blind support. I don't see enough unanimous support is when Obama was running it was our heads down. Of course, he voted for a bottle period is black. But. Now that he picked Kamala, it's a lot of criticism and I feel like that criticism is necessary but it's also being put out in a way that's causing confusion also saw lowly t instagram page. She posted funny how the wrestler Kamala James Harris died and was trending two days ago. Now, Joe Biden has made his take on Kamala Harris. That is interesting. Who Know that there was a wrestler named Kamala James Harris as she passed away two days ago well, four days ago as of today when I'm recording this, I'm recording this on Friday is some shit going on These coincidences don't make no sense but all the critiques that people are saying about Kamala Harris I will say needs to be taken seriously. We didn't give Obama any requirements on what he needed to provide the African American community. He just got to be up there in black while he was in there there was no serious standard somebody posted her name's Clarissa and Brooks on twitter said if at. Now one of my concerns. Viewership. Win where the great episode last week in viewership did not perform. Well, this episode I already suspected it wouldn't perform well judging by the amount of live viewers we've had it doesn't look like it's going to perform. Well, if you're watching this and you have interest in seeing very special guests that we have lined up for next week, I don't want him to back out. I don't want him to be on our youtube channel and see they got forty forty views on their last show they got. Thirty five us on this show. This is obviously a waste of my time. Watch the video twice what it on your girlfriend's account. Leaving on play there. Sign into your Alta counts, play it their. Show it to your grandmother do whatever you need to do. "Master James Harris since day one of this covert nineteen pandemic scare many many of the citizens have been complaining that while we need to take the virus seriously it didn't warn the the level of over reaching over reaction undertaken at all levels of government in every day that goes by it becomes more evident that we were right the level of economic disruption calls by governments far exceeds any reasonable and justified government intervention and now when we need our representatives the the most here to push back to get some of these these are the trees that were there were put out by our governor we got the Senate that went home this is sandy di we're done legislator they're still hanging on out there in the centering of the good service there because we have Eddie Farnsworth senator state senator Eddie Farnsworth and on Friday so the farmers the Arizona Senate called it quits why first of all and then how could they just call it a day and leave us high and dry where are our protections from this run away governor well good morning James thanks for having me on on the show it's an honor to be here sent your first question why normally the legislature is in session until somewhere around the first part of may so it's not unique for us to sign you die and leave at this time a year however because the coronavirus obviously we we had not been in session for probably about five six weeks and so the the idea was to come in and because it was so late in the year there obviously this is an election year and so the the recommendation was that we signed you die and go home the the problem with that is that the house has has has a different idea and they've decided that they want to stay at least for some period of time and the constitution prohibits either body from signing dying or from from a journey for more than three days without the other bodies agree agreement or approval so that puts us in a quandary so what we did is we actually didn't and we what we did is we told the house that we are ready to sign new die and then we recess so technically though the Senate is still in in session technically we're just at recess and then depending upon what the house does this week will depend upon whether the legislator continues and does does some work or whether we we stop and we both citing dying were done at least for now until a special session or until next January that is a great explanation that because I was going to go down that road I thought it was unconstitutional but so what you're telling us is that the Senate didn't really sided die yet they just kinda took a took a time out but now to the second question how could they do this so we just talked about how they were in a session during the corona virus and that's understandable but now we've got some serious questions here and we need to some of these questions answered we have some serious help here when it comes to our need help when it comes to the governor and some of the decrees that have been passed but more importantly should they be answering to we the people of Arizona should we get some type of response I think so I think and I will say this I think in some ways the governor's handled this pretty well I think that he's taken a fairly light touch and in my speech on the floor on Friday I pointed this out that originally the intent was that we flatten the curve and when the governor came out with his his his executive orders the intent was to go outside the free live your life but just socially distant stay at home if you don't have to be out and for the most part Arizonans complied they wanted to be good citizens who wanted to flatten the curve and we did that a couple of weeks ago that changed and we had for the first time the threat of a criminal action and it's a class one misdemeanor to did not follow those executive orders so we saw a shift there so what happened is on Friday as the the Senate considered signing died there were a handful of us I think there were six the voted against the signing day motion and the reasons that we had there was there was one that was the advocacy of a resolution to repeal the emergency order that has consequences that maybe we don't want to do a full repeal but maybe we do and that that was the discussion that was not passed it wasn't even considered I put forth in it and suggested that what we need to do is to pass a limited liability built to protect businesses in this very unique situation because we are going to have people that will suit businesses because they didn't keep somebody six feet apart so we need to just kind of limit not given unity but limit the liability in those circumstances and also to deal with the the issues that we've seen where people have and I'm not suggesting a violation of of the order what I'm suggesting is that there are times when people are going to going to try to make a living because they have to feed their family and so if we have those circumstances my suggestion was let's take out the in the enforcement mechanism the class one misdemeanor so that we don't punish these people for simply trying to protect your property or or to survive or to feed their families that also was was rejected and then the third thing was to suggest that we stay open so that we could continue to be a check on the governor if the only time the legislature has any authorities when it sits in the legislature can pass laws as soon as we sign new die in this endemic it basically gives all of the authority to the governor and we can't do anything until we get called back into session so those are the three reasons that the six of us supposed and but we we were unsuccessful they did pass the signing I motion and so now we're waiting to see what the house does this is the ring of the conservative circus we have state senator Eddie Farnsworth that you know in a senior on recess at what point in time does the Senate have to come back to the legislature and they move forward and whatever in whatever capacity well this is this is kind of the I think the intent was to to create this idea that we we had finished in there was a sign he died to put pressure on the house but technically we don't have to because we're recess so the constitution doesn't contemplate a recess by one body or the other it's just if we were to adjourn so right now the only thing standing out there is essentially we've notified the house that were ready to sign new die but we have not we have not signed he died we stand in recess indefinitely and so the idea is let's see what the house does if the house comes up with bills that they want to vote on before we sign you died in the Senate would consider that or the house is going to have to decide if they want to sign new die and if they do then we would be at sign he died at the session would end and then the idea would be to come into a special session sometime in the future my position was why would we pass it why would we wait why would we differ protecting businesses and individuals and and their ability to make money and to protect them against some encroachment and application of that class one misdemeanor where people can go to jail for up to six months to twenty five hundred dollar fine there was a threat that liquor licenses could be taken sessional licenses could be ten and so my suggestion was let's do this now let's get protection for business and people and then we can sign you die so that's kind of where we stand right now somewhat in limbo and certainly relying a lot on the house and what their decision is this week's Farnsworth I want to thank you very much for your time I'm gonna talk about this why the question is why would they do it like this I'm going to tell you why they're doing it like this at seven forty eight we're in this economic mess through no fault of our own the pandemic is forcing untold numbers of Americans to rack up debt due to layoffs furloughs sheltering in place and.

Listen we condensed that bio it's a lot longer than I it's probably about a third of it. We condensed it so but for the sake of time. We are looking forward to talking to you about the show. Branding Your Business. Your team. A little bit of personal development is going to be educational and fun for them but to begin with James. What's the first thing he did when you woke up this morning? What's your daily routine? Look like daily routine is strong. I'm a creature of habit and so I was up six. Am I was at the gym at six thirty? This morning I come home. I take my children to school. I come back I shower and all of my products lined up with the labels facing towards me a little bit of OCD. Right there ready. Hey I dress for success which I think is such an important role to start the day. You have to fill. You have to look good. You have to smell good so that you're ready to go out and cocoa whatever the day has in front of you yeah. I'm a little that way as well James Take my products very seriously. Maybe we can compare notes on hair products later but James James. How did you get into real estate as we mentioned at the show you originally work is a residential investment agent in the UK correct? That's right. I have a very bizarre story because I was expelled from eight schools as my mother likes to tell me. I was asked leave which means that. She took me out of the school right before they expelled me and growing up as a kid. Don't want to say I felt a mess but I definitely was an underachiever at school and I always had this goal to just get to work and my mom is an interior designer and so as a child we would move from home to home. She'd do them up. Sell them and I was always intrigued by real estate so the legal age of sixteen. I pounded the pavement. And I wanted to get my first job. In real estate. The issue was I had no resume and so my mother and her friend and took me to the local payphone box in our local neighborhood. I had a I had a laser and shut on and sweat pants below because I didn't have any time. And they took a photo of me holding an umbrella and a payphone box and that became my resume and I then highlighted a bunch of real estate companies that I wanted to potentially interview at and went in alphabetical order and the first one. I went to was cold. Dutch and Dutch. I in I said Hi. Can I speak to the Ceo and he said. That's me and I showed him my picture. I pitched him and on the spot. They hired me. And that was my first five years in both the residential for two and then commercial for two and a half those my first fire real years in the real estate industry hold. We would you do that. James. I was sixteen. I went through twenty one headed to this mad town called Los Angeles. Yeah and that's my next question. How did you end up in Los Angeles as I understand? It was organic great. It wasn't planned nothing planned so my father actually lived in La and in London when you finish school before you start university you take what they call a gap year but of course. I didn't make it to university so I went straight into work five years of just hitting it hard hard hard. I hit twenty one and like I want to travel and so for a moment in time. I thought I'M GONNA go visit my father in Los Angeles. I'm going to spend some time there and then I'll come back and my company at the time actually kept me as an employee. Walt site was gone may promised them that I would go back. Which of course I had no idea what to expect and I came here. Fell madly in love with the city. Got Off at a job within two weeks trading commodities. Did that for five years before David then came to La and then we started to think about setting up a real estate business. We get got it okay. So now how did you get involved with million dollar listing like? What was the process there? Such a funny process third. So we after our first year of business we'd actually closed one hundred and sixty million in transactional volume and I didn't realize this because we always remained very focus but I guess people are starting to hear our names and one evening. I'm getting home from work and my phone rings. And it's this lady saying that we're costing for the shock of million dollar listing. I think the whole thing is a prank. I really did and I call David. I said Dave I think we're getting pranked but let's just go over that and so the next day. We're we're on a skype call similar to this with this very pretty lady and we think it's a prank can. I'm sitting here David's right behind me. He's flexing his muscles and the camera on pushing him away with just cracking up laughing. And before you know it it costing five hundred agents and we went through five of these skype Kohl's and then we got down to the last ten they sent a full crew out to shoot with all ten of us. For an eight hour day dwindled down dwindled. Down and eventually We got a call from five hundred. How many cast members now on the show? You Have Josh Menu. Have Josh Flagg and Tracy and myself and David Soak five in total. How many have you been on the show now? Six seasons this is only six years and eighty episodes later. Hit we are Here's a question. What do you wish you had known before you started? Million dollar listing absolutely nothing. I think when you first start on Ebay especially when you don't come from the world of TV and suddenly that's cameras around. I think the only thing I wish I'd known then that I know now is just to really be yourself. You know I remember before I started the show. My neighbor at the time was a very big public figure had been on a TV show. That is wildly successful and I asked him for his advice and he just looked at me as a comedian and he said as long as you're not po people think so and I never forgot that but when there's cameras around and you're unfamiliar you're trying to be somebody else. You'll not very quickly learn just beaming yoursel of don't try and be someone that you're not and David and I are straight shooters were ethical guys. And this is a great platform to be able to showcase the way that we run our business so I guess there was one thing it would just be being yourself and I think that goes for being off camera as well so many people try and be someone. No you just have to be true to who you are at all times couldn't agree more Do you have a favorite moment from the show? What's been the best part of the last six years? Do you have a couple of? I mean there's been so many I mean for starters. My six year old was just being born as I was on the show so my six year old is really developed through show I think one of my funniest things that I've ever shot was with the CEO of Hustler. The adult publication a negotiation with Larry Flint. Who was old on the twenty four karat gold whale chair curiosity owning his head before we started the scene? I mean that was pretty funny and I think I most sentimental scene was surprising. My wife on our five year wedding anniversary. We took over a movie theater and she thought we were going on a date night and I cut together a video of our lives from the day that we have met. I gave her a ring and my kids were there and that was definitely a special moment to catch it. So there's been there's been lots. Yeah I'm sure we could discuss out for quite a while. Worst experience from the show like do you have any regrets. We could call him. I hate losing my Tampa. It's my pet peeve and a very emotional about my business and I take my business extremely seriously and so there's been several moments where I've just lost my day primarily with Joshua not to cut you off but it's quite some time ago now but that fight on the rooftop with was real. It was real. Hey like I was going to ask you. How much of what we see is real. And how much is scripted like any of it's scripted? Many people ask that this isn't reality. Tv show every single. Dale every single transaction that you see is real and I think as the show has created this success of the last twelve years. You can't fake something now obviously. You can't negotiate a twenty million dollar deal over three minute coffee but all the statistics wherever we can shoot in real time we are. This show takes eleven months a year to shoot a season. It's the longest TV show in reality to shoot and that's because they're following the story from the very beginning to the very end when the truth is we don't know if the property is going to sell not so it's it always keeps it fresh and exciting and yes open does piss me off. Who's ask about like you guys are boys? You guys aren't going for beers on the weekend or they said. Listen off camera. I shake his hand on camera. I shake his hand. I still like him. I respect his work ethic like this with very different we have very different styles. And that's what makes the world go round and as someone once said to me doesn't ask for every seat. Clients are likely not going to work with me and Mike Law and work with him. That's business running T- moniker spice girls. Instead of Bond Street boys does that. Sound absolutely epic and that was actually on our season..

The State of 'The Black Quarterback': A Conversation with Donovan McNabb

"Over a decade ago my Business Partner Hall of Fame Quarterback Warren Moon. I sat down to discuss. How can we stop? The labeling of black quarterbacks are dream was for some day they're not to be that description at all. I was blessed to sit down with Donovan. Mcnabb one of his men teas and proteges to discuss the status and progression of black quarterbacks in the NFL. This is entrepreneurs. The playbook hey I wanted to have a conversation about black quarterbacks and as you know it's been a big part of my career has warned being a client and then a partner of mine are dream. Ten years ago was that nobody would ever say black quarterback right but I think you know to this day that they don't use it as much but I see a hangover when I look at you not be in the hall of fame or the way that Warren's marketed because they don't want that story told about six years in Canada right right and then there's just an under Tony it's unintentional. It's like even with the metoo movement. Things go on aren't intentional. It's social development social. How can we help? Expediter accelerate people understanding the equality. That exists I you have to appreciate I don't think we're at a point where we appreciate the level of evolution. That's going on and I say that because he wanted to mention. Hey you know you were kind of guy that passed the torch in them like no. The torch was already late for Marlin Bristow Gilliam and dumb and James James Harris and those particular guys. It was then but it wasn't one that was accepted and then. I think when you mentioned the warnings and the Randall Donovan. Before I thought it was a warm place you played when you played but it was. It was kind of a it. Wasn't it wasn't appreciate and when? I say that you know it was the yard that Warren Password worn was Dan Marino. We'll be talking about how radio because his numbers are comparable today without the six years in candidate. But I I think what we're seeing now is. We're seeing people start to understand the level of talent ability. How cerebral these kids are. They can play from the pocket and their leaves. These are all things that when they mentioned about. You'll see that in in the list now and says it has it's literally presidential but but the thing is you have to be able to take a step back and say you know what these kids can play the quarterback position. And when you look at the collegiate ranks then more black quarterbacks in the collegiate good ones so again it goes back to happen understand. What the level we go through and give it to appreciate what we're seeing you know. I do allow entrepreneurs and I talked about patients who and the need to be offended or or resentful. And it's so interesting with all those guys that you talk to your mom. Briscoe someone that in California. We do a ton of work with for years trying to get that movie made by the way you know. It's a really good movie and a really good story but nobody's really resentful and angry or offended. How do you have the patience to wait for the reality to come about that? All the top quarterbacks are going to be evaluated by their talent. Well here we have old. School mentality shouts and tell you them telling evaluators who still have that. Well he's black quarterback what are we just evaluated his ability. How intelligent he is. The family background would become as he comes out. It's nothing else that you need to focus on focus on his color. You only public hair. You have to focus on how he wants. You know the the focus needs to be more of the position and that's what we're seeing we have. We have been after the American insult that people are afraid to talk about now. He will say well. We don't need talking about though. He's the third every America's worries. They play of great ones. The greatest african-american quarterback did win. The might. I've worked with before because the caregiver Steve but this could be an opportunity for a guy who people love is ability. Yeah and then. They want to question the thing about his character. What are you looking at? Are you looking more deep into trying to fight the negative or how good this really with? Doug flutie yeah who has a lot of similarities to a lot of running quarterback and I said if you were an African American would have been your chances even to play in the CFL for how old he is. He said there won't be a chance ever but stories like that people boss. Yeah well that's what I wanted in talking to people over and and it's important for us to focus on that because it's not gonNA stop. I mean we're looking at. We've looked at five afterward quarterback just in the playoffs alone. Yeah headed had a chance to have to play it in title game and then it's GonNa continue to grow where mean who's to say feels doesn't get drafted in the next year or two from Ohio state. Then I was talking about him. It's exciting right now. You've been one of those guys. They continue to grind the path. I'm on your team. As far as I'm Jay Hall of Famer right here. More people need to be aware of the issues that we're facing and this guy needs to be in the hall of fame and many others because we're building a pipeline hall of famers. It's a shame that Warren Moon American and I appreciate the respect. I love warranty. That's right I n there. I appreciate your insight and honesty thanksgiving.

"The smart and yours. Smart speaker. Okay. Google by five fifty KFYI on iheartradio. You are listening to conservative circus. I love your ringmaster James Harris last week was a bad week for the Democrats specially for democrat leadership in the house. We had the whole the Representative Ilhan, Omar and her her comments, then there was further black against the against the congress. When it didn't take strong steps to blame her to censor her. Is a matter of fact, the the Dem's the freshman pushed back, and we saw Nancy basically breakdown and many people out. There are saying, you know, what does this mean that Alexandria, Kosta Cortez is the new leader of the democrat part of the unofficial leader. Because of just how poorly that went. But here's how you know that these freshmen Democrats got dinged. Because now they're playing the race card, even though it was ill hand, Omar out with her anti semitic statements when the heat came. You look at how she's playing it. What is she says is going on? But now that you have to Muslims who are saying. A group of people that we want to make sure they have the dignity that you want. Everybody else to have to be called.

"Tomorrow at one PM, then I would like to invite you to follow me on my Twitter page, James Harris and Facebook because I will be reacting to what the president is saying it's been a crazy crazy week started out, of course, with Nancy Pelosi telling the president that he could not do his his state of the union address in the capital because of the fact that the government shutdown created a security problem, and then she skipped off a trying to board a plane a couple of days later to go on a junket and the president. I contacted a Nancy Pelosi you told her what you know, what you're not going to be able to use government planes during the government shutdown, and it has created quite the tension. Today, incredibly new story broke. Yes, it did. And once again, President Trump is is on the verge of being impeached. Well, we knew that this was a tactic that the Democrats were going to take one of the things they want to accomplish in the new congress. But no, this is different. This story was leaked by BuzzFeed. And they are saying that the president told his lawyer. Told his lawyer to basically tamper with with with.
