"Mike Peter holds her said It wasn't championship for bustle Is he talking about? I tell you what Jonathan Cooper may tell you different 100% championship or bust. If John is on the cocoa signs on that line if he signs on that dotted line for the extension before December 22nd, then no, it's not championship or bust, but you best believe if he goes into this regular season without signing that extension, it's definite championship. A bus for the Milwaukee Bucks. From now until the start of the season because that's the deadline is Jonah Santana Campo taking that Supermax? I don't think so. And the reason I don't think so. Because if you could give me a reason why Jonah's would sign today or why he would sign next week. I would get it like what's going to change. The roster is pretty much set now, the whole back down a bitch thing. It's going back databases now in Atlanta, so now you have drew holiday. Now you have these a Augustine. Now you have Bobby Portis. If you're honest, felt like that was enough. That was enough for him. I don't see why all this time right here would be needed to wait to sign the extension. It's either I feel like this is enough or I don't think this is enough. And what I'm gonna do is I'm arrived. It's out in the regular season because I don't have to sign now. I'm a ride this out for the regular season, see what happens and then we'll talk about the extension at the end of the season after the results play out. If you are better men now, next year is Janos on the box. I can't answer that. Okay? I can't answer that, because there's so much that have to happen in between now and then, like if if they get eliminated again in the second round, like this is a team that we're talking about. That has the NBA's best record for the last two seasons, but also underachieve big time the last two seasons. So if they follow that same format no, John, it won't be there. But again, things happen. Injuries happened. You know, we saw what happened with Kevin Durant and going state and Clay Thompson and going stick, which open the door for Toronto to get their first ever championship. So I mean, there's so much that has to happen throughout the course of an NBA season, and I don't feel qualified to actually answer that question because off So many options out there so many things can go right. So many things can go wrong. There's too many questions. Answer for that debt. Antonio Daniels, KD and Kyrie. Are you believer that Carrie is not gonna be a problem here with the Brooklyn Nets, and they'll find a way to make this be a successful partnership. You know what, man? I'm gonna be honest with you. I don't know what to believe anymore. Because I was on board thinking myself that Russell Westbrook and James Hall who work there was boys too. Little boys in Oklahoma. They were boys in Oklahoma City. You know, they're both from California. So your thought processes. Oh, shoot. You know what? This is gonna work. You have to MVP's that have come into the same. Same came to have a great relationship with your daughter each other. When I was in Oklahoma City. There was one dude. That Russell Westbrook used to seek out after games and embrace James Harden. That was it. Wasn't that outside of that He was gone. When the game was over. He was gone. You will see him taking pictures with James Harden before the game after the game, like the relationship that I was under the impression that they had is why I thought it would work in Oklahoma's I mean in Houston, and it didn't Then it came to the point where it's like. Look, man, I won't play with you. I won't play with you either. How are we having Kevin Durant? They wanted to play together. They both chose to go to Brooklyn together, and it sounds great again. We're talking about relationships. It's sandals. Fantastic. So now I don't know. I thought Russell and James will work too. So who knows? Who knows what it means. It's completely different when you get in that locker room, and you're actually going to battle and you're going to war with the same guy. Night in night out, you might find out some things about that person that maybe you did not know. Hearted end up there. You think by the end of this year hardens in Brooklyn. I don't think so. I don't think so. I just don't think that that Brooklyn hasn't. I don't think they haven't for James Harden. You need to You need a pretty big return. And for one of.

"You talk a little bit about six impossible things. How was it structured which tricks from your repertoire. Way performing and from joshua costin's. I read somewhere that will be a magician's release of justice. Six impossible things. When can we expect this that you would ask. Let me try and take those impart. So how is the show structured. This was really fun. This this was an experiential magic show so basically people come to a basement in manhattan. They sit in a circle. I'm know her in the room. The lights go out in the year. My voice and that's how the show starts. The first trick is done in the dark and in the raft. Then they get up they walk to another room and the next week is done standing and surrounded then they go into another room and they sit and they watch more and more or less than a standard magic show way we go in six different environments to put magic in the best environment. It's suited for so. That's the format. Is there any tricks from <unk>. That's the cool part <hes>. Virtually every trick except for one was custom designed for that show which is sad for me. Because i can't really use the stuff of it. The one and a half exceptions to that are if you're familiar with my trojan detrick. Where i shuffle the deck and bay shuffle a deck and all the cards match. We found a way to do that on the floor. In the round in the show it looked really cool and the other <hes>. Happy trick out of that is <hes>. If you've seen me do the t shirt trick where. I write stuff on the t shirt and some magic thing happened. That was developed four. Six boss will things. But i've done television. I do live in my shows now. So that's as to when it's coming out. It's a win. But i earned element along with a lot of additional content. Were on freely cool box set where you get a lot of stuff you get accustomed to car ah pocket square really cool things you you would only see or understand if you see the show live and then you'll have a live recording of the full show. That's the only time maybe the palms get sweaty as if he had come over the hill. And there's a cop sitting there right on the interstate, and he Other than that. I can not relate. But here's the other thing, right? Here's the other thing. Well, we who are white will never understand what that what? Like what? What Hall is talking about what James Hall mentioned We may never understand it. But by God at this point if we can't Start to get it. And start to get Why the anger? "Dr James Hall, and before the break we were talking about how to treat anxiety behaviors. And I as you said, doctor, I was at your presentation that you made at the courthouse dog foundation conference, which was so wonderful. And you talk there about the handler dog feedback loop. Can you tell our listeners what you mean by that? You're one of mean by that is I'm trying to make owners handlers aware of the fact that you really have a relationship we've talked about this before, but we're finding out more and more about that relationship between the handled Kim to human and the dog. And it's really a matter of the fact that one of the important really important aspects to reducing and helping a dog deal with stress. And it's life is allowing the dog to have some control over its life, and so allowing it to have be able to make decisions to have some control over its environment. And one of the examples, they talk about is even having control over the handler, and really bringing the realization to a lot of folks that you're training your dog year managing your dog. You're manipulating your dog, you have a relationship with your dog with, you know, a positive reinforcement punishment training. So you can alter the behavior of your dog your dog is manipulating you, too, and that's important actually that your dog has some kind of control almost everybody can think of some signal your dog gives that you respond to whether it's for affection. Attention feeding time and you were just mentioning the fact that you notice you think you're, you're pretty sure, you know, when your dog is anxious because it it scratches or shakes. And that's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. Because it gives us shake. Now you are responding to that. Right. You're saying it Ridgely. He did that just because he was anxious a little stressed. And now you're recognizing that and say he's a little stressed now. I need to respond to that and getting him or her out of the stress. Right. And so it's now become a bit of communication between the two of you the dog will learn that they can manipulate you through that signal. And that's what I'm saying. That's not a bad thing. That's important to have that two way communication and the opportunity for not only you to control your environment and put your dog is doing, but the dog to be able to control their environment in some cases, of course, not in all cases. But and so in the choice of food in the choice of toys, companionship, who they, they get to hang out, and a lot of these dogs, and particularly these assistance dogs, you know, lead very structured, live and very important work. Really what I call mission. Critical dogs they make a mistake something bad is going to happen to somebody leading the blind or whatever. And that can be simply that rigor can be stressful. And of course the dog chosen. I mean these dogs are heavily screened and make sure they have a personality that's appropriate for that kind of thing, but still, receiving that a lot of them are burning out at a younger age than we thought they should be able to continue working, and we think it may be due to the fact that they're undergoing this sort of stress of not being able to control their environment. The handler has all the control the dog has not, and that's a stressful thing. Yeah. Well, and I'm so glad that you mentioned that piece about retirement, because I know that something that's a sensitive topic in the working dog world, especially with the systems dogs because people want their dogs when you bond with the dog and you have this incredible relationship, you don't want that to end. Right. We want to continue it but I've seen dog. That really should be retired and really should not be working, you know, into ten even over ten years old. I know that's something that I've always really watched my dogs, and they've all told me when they've had enough, and they were ready to retire. And you know that has varied in age. But what are your thoughts on retiring a working dog wind should that happen? And what should we really be looking at where I this is a major issue? And if exactly one of the major issues in how he talks about, I think, retirement age, not being recognized not being acknowledged one of the problems is that there's very little. I could almost pretty sure say, none of very little research on the topic. And so there's no reason why we can't study this as a science as the science will be. It hasn't been done is because lack of funding and so far lack of interest by individuals who provide this kind of funny, I think. A major crisis in terms of welfare for for these dogs. And, and as you say in almost all cases, the dogs are giving you the signal the dogs are telling you whether you're listening. And that's right. But you are not our average handler certainly not certainly impressive assistance dog again with a little bit more education, but we're really worried of these to use of this pet dogs and therapy dogs and emotional support animals. And, you know, they may be fine helping you travel on a plane to use the classic example of an emotional support animal for some years, and it may get to the point where you're doing more harm to them than they're helping you. Age and they're telling you about that they're informing you of that in terms, but a lot of people are ignoring it. Don't have the -cation don't have the realization. I think, you know, veterinarians are going to consider a dog to be geriatric in terms of medical care at about seven or eight years of age, that is the time that certainly be thinking about it, possibly earlier, we have things like early, senescence, and so on. So it could be earlier, I think ten is a real good, probably average number. If we studied this, I think we got feeling we'd come up with ten years old, as an average, but could be eight could be twelve possibly could you know, their animals could be could be even older. And there's always exceptions. But I think it's a really critical issue and I don't think it's something that they are really hiding. I think it's something that people are not being sensitive to, I could not agree with you more. And I've had I can tell you that. But none of my dogs have worked past the age of eight. None of them. Yeah. Surprise me at all. I think it's an issue that I know it's an issue that I got lots of questions about in the courthouse dog world and doing a workshop on the next conference on talking about what science do we have. And what are the factors, what things look for and so on? Because you know there's a group of people who at what's happened is. That's a relatively new phenomenon and they all have young gods. And now it's just gotten to the point where some of those dogs hitting eight years or nine years old, and we need to start thinking about that. If we wanna be careful and ethically responsible for the welfare of these dogs. It's going to be time, and that's certainly something that assistance, dogs, people have dealt with for many years. Absolutely absolute- Blad to hear that you're going to be speaking about that. That's great. Well, so tell us about your new book that you have coming out. First of all win. Is it coming out? Good question. We're just finishing up the final proofs right now. And so they've been a few delays right now. I believe the current date it's coming out from academic press. The current day is November, thirtieth might get shifted a little bit. It is available for preorder from Amazon, and we'll be coming out in a few other outlets as well. So we're very excited just popped up on the preorder list on Amazon. The title is dog behavior modern science and our canine, companions, and it is by me. Jim ha and my co author Tracy campy on searches. C A. M P. I o N she's the real yet writer that helped me actually get the thing off the ground in the end. And in for landing really put the, the great words in there with the material, I wanted and said it so well, and really what it is, is in general. It's really introduction to the modern science of animal behavior when I got started in this business stocking owners and trainers, and veterinarians and so on I really heard so much old fashioned or. Or outdated and behaviour science ideas and concepts. I heard a lot of people didn't even know animal behavior was a science and it's been an active science, you know, for over one hundred years, and we have our own scientific journals and our own publications and professional societies, and conferences, and funding from the National Science Foundation and, and everything. So I really wanted to write an introduction to modern animal behaviour science and concepts and methods. How do we as animal pressure? Animal behaviors learn about adult behavior. Whether it's wild animals or domesticated animals companion animals or whatever and write it at a level that the average person, you know, would enjoy meeting and learn something from and focus it on dogs. And so it's an introduction to the modern science of I guess Manuel behavior science and particularly with examples illustrated completely about dogs. Oh, that sounds wonderful. Well, I know I can't wait for it to come out, and I'm glad that it's not going to be much. Longer before we can get our hands on it. Because as you said, we need to educate ourselves, we need to learn, especially when we're partnered with one of these canine. The more I can learn about how I can be a better handler the better. I just can't get enough information about that. And and learning about that dog behavior is just so important. What I wanted to do was really get more education out there and talk about some of the science that is out there. What do we know? And what do we not know what's true? And some of what's not true. Exactly. Exactly. Well, and I have to ask you at, you know, as I said, I did hear you present in Washington in Seattle at the wonderful on conference, and I have to say I thought, how you ended your second presentation was so clever where you had images. You had a PowerPoint presentation to our listeners can get a feel for this. You had this PowerPoint presentation, and it was all research, based and berry academic, and then at the end you have these door pictures of you and your wife in your home where you live, which is actually by the water and on a boat. And I thought it was hysterical that you had an you start noting that there was no dog in these pictures that it was you and your wife and that you seem very lonely without a dog. And you made an appeal to the audience who included assistance dog organizations that train courthouse dogs and other types of dogs, which I thought was just so. Adorable. How you did that. And I said, very clever because it's my understanding that, that tactic worked, and that you're now getting a retire dog that's coming to you. Is that true? Yeah. Yes. All right. It is. This is the west is coming to us very soon as I began to work with the courthouse dogs foundation. I'm the scientific advisor and member of the board of directors. I learn more about the AD I organizations in the fact that there are so many of these wonderful dogs that are purpose bred reared in standard ways. Get all kinds of great early socialization by all the armies of Foster's puppy, rears, and come back revaluation in some cases, you know, forty or fifty percent of these dogs that come back may not qualify for the the the intense training at at a year and a half or two years of age that's needed for their work, and they need homes and they need to be adopted and we really were looking for a dog that wasn't too much of a challenge. I've spent my whole career helping people with a lot of airy challenging. The new project really wanted to relax a little bit, and these would just speak, even if they were what they call career changers because they had minor problems, you know that, that disqualified them for for further training. Be a wonderful dog and certainly a labrador you know, love water and we're down here in Florida Keys now and, and very much water base life. So I began looking for what it making an appeal for the one of these number of years ago and hurricane Irma interrupted us for a bit. And so we've been without a dog for while and I wanted to remind all the organizations that if they had any dogs. Didn't quite make it in the program..

Then doesn't a whole see. As Louis be beat will see therefore. Hey equals c. Hi. It's John, we're in the AllState skyline studio, and we're here until three o'clock weekdays from one to three and Saturdays from ten AM till twelve noon. Nice of you to join us as it is a Wednesday fill the Tel restaurant critic of the Chicago Tribune is in our studio in about a half an hour. We'll talk about the restaurant scene. If there's a restaurant, you on his review of or if there's one, you want to tell me and him and everybody else about, please call or text three one two nine one seven two hundred we'll take your calls in Texas, one thirty five with Phil and, and hold sour. The brother of jeopardy dominator James Hall tower joins us. I hope he doesn't know about the news, click, our daily web poll question. James Hall tower is still dominating on Tuesday. We said that four options a he's smarter than everyone one percent. He's quicker than everyone fourteen percent. He's smarter and quicker than everyone seventy three percent of you said that. And d I think something's fishy here twelve percent. My answer is B. He's quicker than everyone minded standing is a lot of these people on jeopardy are all about equally smart. He's obviously very smart. But what I think is causing him to win so much because he's so comfortable with the buzzer, he's just quicker. He knows how to play the game physically not taking anything away from his smarts. But twelve percent of you said, I think something's fishy here and I hate to even introduce that. But I think it was Lauren laugh, cut it yesterday said, I think something's fishy here. No. I said, I think he has a photographic memory. That's what it was. Which is not fishy at all. No. I mean some people are just gifted that way. He is super duper smart. In fact, we wrote down all the questions and answers that he got. Right. Or that he faced yesterday and some from the day before and we'll walk through some of those if you didn't watch the episode even if you did with Ian a little after two o'clock funny to me that you forgot that she said he had a photographic memory well with not having a real good memory and all. Tragic is that? I'd finally qualified to be on jeopardy, and then show up on the wrong day. Okay. Let's talk a little bit about ache will be beak will see therefore ache will see. I'm right about that. Right. That's a some sort of property that we learned in algebra or something once upon a time. Yeah, I remember that, thank you. Thank Graham theory, or whatever it is. Or just whatever it is will be beak. We'll see there for equal. See, now here's why I'm bringing this up. Lauren Underwood who is one of the new congresswomen. She is for many of us a bright light. She's from the suburbs of Chicago. She's that tall. Radiant nurse is her background. And so there she is questioning the acting secretary of homeland security about why five children have died in US custody in the last six months. The ten years previous zero in the last six months, five what's going on here? And she says, as a health care professional, I know a little bit about the traumatic effects of holding children in some sort of detention with or without their parents in elite physical elements in psychological barriers, etc. And so she asked the acting Secretary Do know about this stuff. And he said, yes, I do. But that's not what we're doing. So her implication, about the bad conditions in which the kids are being held leading medical problems. He said is almost moot. That's not relevant here. But yes, I'm aware of the report about this, but she wouldn't hear it she was walking him through point by point, if you do this to a child, this will happen. And he'll say yes, but we're not doing that. And then she'd say another point, and if you do this to a kid, it'll have this negative repercussion, and he would say, what do you want me to say, I know that, but if by saying, yes, I'm implying that we're doing it? I don't want to answer that question. The chairman said you go to answer the question. And so he very reluctantly answered the questions and she just kept plowing ahead. She would not hear his difference with her. And she wouldn't stop asking those questions because she was going to get to one central point. So let's just walk through this, this is making some news today. We'll start with cut one L a D H S will not restart family separations under your leadership. So the president states said that we're not looking at doing that again. In place that, that says we're not going to take zero-tolerance prosecutions not family separations. But prosecuting adults that are violating the law resulted in separations. We're not going to restart that right now. Okay. So you haven't made a commitment, then that you will not restart family separations under your leadership. I think the president's statement suffices as a commitment for the administration. She said, look, I've got five minutes, I just need. Yes or nos in that was not going to happen. Here's cut to just last week. We saw new photos, pertain children sleeping outside on the dirt at a border patrol station and on Monday. We weren't that Beth migrant child died in custody since family separation begin..
