"That is commensurate with a backup quarterback of his caliber, 6 and a half $1 million or like 400 K? Yes or no. What would you do? I'd rather have Brock purdy. Come on, Chris. Dude, remove the Trey Lance from it. You can't. I'm asking you to do that for the moment, just go roll with me right here. Yes. In a vacuum, you want Jimmy G as okay. There you go. Now to your point, it is not a vacuum. It's not a vacuum at all. But the head coach believes he can create that vacuum. That's insane. This is what he had to say about Lance handling the development. Trey was great. I mean, there was no problems with it at all. I mean, I told him the exact same things that I told Jimmy. Why we were the options of bringing Jimmy here that it had to be in a backup type deal. Which Jimmy knew that was his option. And that was the only option. And we told that to Trey also and I mean, Trey and Jimmy have a great relationship. I think Trey Trey actually likes having Jimmy in the building and Dre was very grateful to how Jimmy was to him last year. And we feel very strongly from the two people that Jimmy will give that back to trade this year. They'll do for Trey, what Jimmy did for him in the year before? There you go. Paying it forward. That as the kid, that through the first touchdown pass of the year for the forty-niners, the starting quarterback cool with it. As the kid who came in twice to start while the starting quarterback got hurt, the starting quarterback, cool with it. Starting quarterback cool with all of Trey Lance wanting as many reps as possible, knowing that the starting quarterback cool with it now, it's time for that same quarterback to still pay it forward to not keep shoving the young quarterback to the point where the young quarterback feels like he needs to look over his shoulder playing the role that Kurt Warner said he played for Eli Manning, which was when he came in and almost saved the team's bacon while the youngster was struggling. After coach Coughlin turned to Eli, when the team was 5 and four, mid season, made the change to Kurt Warner, Kurt said he went to Coughlin after Kurt almost came back and won a game against the ravens that Eli couldn't finish, got to tell the press, I'm still the backup and Eli is still your guy. That's the role that Jimmy Jean needs to play in San Francisco and it appears that that is the role that Kyle Shannon Shanahan expects him to play. Here's the issue. If I may give voice to what you're thinking, Christopher, you can do the same yourself in a moment. The question is, with that door of doubt, the dreaded door of doubt, big door. Being there with Garoppolo's presence that would not have been had Brock purdy. Been the backup. It's going to be Lance's gig, do or die, highs and lows, screw ups and successes. No matter what, when the backup is the reigning mister irrelevant, when it's the guy that took a team to a Super Bowl, was a quarterback of that team, a few years ago, almost did it just last year, has the adoration of the entire locker room and was the starting quarterback, just last year, there's the door of doubt that we all believe must be somehow somewhere in the mind of the head coach, otherwise this decision wouldn't have been made. But the decision isn't because, man, if the starter gets hurt, our season's over, we're not going to hand it off to a rookie, that was the last pick in the draft. We're not doing that. So we might as well have the old hand that everyone loves and doesn't need to learn the playbook or the locker room or the way to the office. Knows everything. Should have that guy. As long as he understands that's his role, a lot of people think, no, he's there because Lance might not be the guy, the door of doubt is somewhere within Shanahan's mind. So if that's the case, the burning question, Chris, you don't mind me using your or getting to the niners probably in a couple of days. Okay. Burning question is, what is the threshold of immaturity on the field? The threshold of inconsistency? The threshold of lack of success, where does that threshold live in Kyle Shanahan's heart and mind? What's the breaking point? Where does that exist? Is it in wins and losses? Is it in the film? Where we're seeing, you know, incomplete pass, interception across the field, coaches seeing wide open guy in a flat. Take the profit, can't go broke, making a profit. Coach knows pre snap, ball needed a goal here. Post snap ball went elsewhere. We think, oh wow, great throw at me elsewhere. Actually, it's the first down elsewhere. Coach knows. How where is that threshold? For Kyle Shanahan. That's the question. Unless there is no threshold, and there is no door doubt, it is Trey Lance's gig come hell or high water, and Garoppolo is there in case of emergency because Lance gets hurt. Season's not over. Jimmy G starts how many games .5 is your over under? I guess he'll start more than one because Lance plays in a certain way that he might put his health at risk and he gets hurt. Question is, does he get the job back if Garoppolo looks much cleaner as one would expect a more veteran hand would. Fascinating. John lynch, scheduled to appear on tomorrow's edition of the rich eisen show. Oh. Lovely. Hall of Famer. I like him. I like him too. He's a good man. He is. Certainly when he says yes, do when I say, hey, how'd you like to come on? Whole country's talking about your team and your decision. By the way, buddy, hell of a deal. For the forty-niners. Expensive for backup quarterback? Sure. It's not 24 million. Not just any backup quarterback though. Let me explain something to you guys. Expensive for a backup, but lord forbid your quarterback goes down with his ankle snapped out of his bone snapped out of his foot. You're glad to have that expensive backup. So again, it's a very important position. Talking over there. Come on. That's the scars of Andy Dalton and Ben dinucci. It's a problem you'd rather have scars of Dalton. Scars of denucci. Scars of dinucci is a great fantasy. Even with our jam packed.

"Richard. One more time. Week four is when he didn't go back with the team on the plane. Is that what it was? Weak, look it up. If my memory serves, it was a week four, Thursday Night Football game. That's how fast things deteriorated. For the Jacksonville Jaguars last year. Didn't go back with the team on the plane. It was at Cincinnati. And then over the following weekend, the video that went viral, hit the Internet and will sit there forever. And this is after a training camp where we learned subsequently crazy things were happening on the football field of kicking a kicker and everything going on with making coaches defend their resumes, whether they were winners or losers or not. You got mine. As a matter of fact. Come on now. Come on now. Do I need to go in through everything through the playing season where The Rookie quarterback goes up to the coach on the sidelines and Los Angeles and says, where is our running back who fumbled earlier in the game? And he's just like, I don't know, let me check out, let me check on that. Oh yeah, put them back in the game. And then afterwards says, I wasn't the one who told everyone to bench him and he did. And that was the game where the opposing team, the eventual Super Bowl champions. Were accosted. By the visiting team saying, save us. Get me out of here. You have no idea what's happening on that sideline. So yes. Yeah. Hey, look, you need to see it from Russell Wilson and I need to see it from the last year was on urban. All right, number will not be more the same. All right, number 29 of the Chicago Bears. Who just made a bunch of moves on the waiver wire they claimed 6 guys, including former first round pick from the Raiders, Alex leatherwood, but my question here is just well another black and blue season do irreparable damage to Justin's like, man, that was a good question. How much punishment can this guy take before really stunts his growth? And because we think he can be a dynamic player in this league, he was the guy that I wanted the Patriots to draft last year instead of Mac Jones. So I'm just curious if he does take quite another beating this year what that does for his long-term development. You at the bulls are in that question for the bears. Because the roster the way it's currently constituted with 6 new players usually when you pick up a lot of other people's cuts, it means how happy were you with your roster during training camp and now you're going to get these guys up to speed here come the forty-niners to start the season. And if fields doesn't have the weapons, doesn't have the protection, what does that do for his growth? Oh my gosh, that is ultimately the spot on question about the 2022 bears. No doubt. Number 28, I'm looking at the Atlanta Falcons. Another team people think is kind of be at the bottom of my eye. I think they might have sleeper potential, but for me, it's who's going to run the football on this team because when I look at their depth chart, it's not great. When it comes to the running back position, you got cordell Patterson, yes, we know. He's kind of a Swiss Army knife and could do it all, but he's not actually a running back and he is over that 30, 30 years of age mark for ball carriers. He got Damien Williams is on his 15 and Tyler Alger who's a rookie. Just who's going to run the football to kind of take the pressure off Marcus Mariota or if it does become Desmond Ritter and kind of open up the passing lanes for Kyle Pitts to really have a breakout second year. That is running the football. That's my burning question for the Atlanta Falcons this year. Does Desmond Ritter start multiple games? That's it. Does Atlanta's season wind up with Arthur Smith saying, all right, Marcus and I go back to the Tennessee days. I gave him his shot. This kid Ritter, he could be ready. He was coming into this draft, along with Kenny Pickett, believed to be the most pro ready, the most mature, the ready could be aimed fire right now this year for Atlanta. Does he start multiple games for Atlanta this year? And do they start that clock in 2022? That's my question for Atlanta. Both guys look good in the preseason, so we'll see. Number 27 for me is the New York football giants and for this one. I'm kind of looking at saquon. Can saquon save this team and his quarterback because it's a huge year for both of these guys. Yes. We know the option wasn't picked up on Daniel Jones, so he's playing for his future and saquon has looked great in the off season in the pre season when he's been out there. He's fully healthy, and he's back. They have a new head coach, an offensive minded head coach, and can he save this team in Daniel Jones? I think it's interesting we've saquon into your question. I think it is, though, just about Daniel Jones. Clearly saquon being a second overall selected player is somebody that we're still waiting to see him reach some of the status like Jonathan Taylor reached last year. He hasn't been healthy enough to do that. We need to see him dominate football games. Yes, that would help with Daniel Jones, but still that's in a position that the Giants need to evaluate. Will the question but burning question for me is will Brian dabal be the answer to Daniel Jones. Viability as a quarterback in the NFL because they have to make that decision. They got to make it fast this year. And will the Giants be in a quarterback market next year? That's the burning question for the back at square one. And we'll take one beyond this team next year. I mean, he could be somewhere else if it doesn't go well. All right, lastly, I'm looking at the Detroit wines. Number 26. Basically, can they build on the hard knocks momentum? There's a lot of good feelings and good vibes around this team. We like Dan Campbell, but they're going with Jared Goff. They got a superstar young wide receiver. And I'm just wondering, can they build on it? Everyone's kind of excited about them heading into the air. We know they really competed and played hard, and they were in most games, last season, and just can they keep that going into 2020? Yeah, I just don't know if another plucky year is what they're looking for. We need to see some advancement. It can't just be, yeah, boy, this is a team that come back on you when they're down 17. Like it's time to win some football games in year two I'd imagine. Lines fans feel that way. Another good old plucky year where they're fun to watch in the summer on hard knocks.

"Burning questions. That's great. Fantastic. Everything about that is awesome. All right, let's start at the bottom, guys. The 32nd team doing the night king. It's like sizzling. Gilbert arenas back in the day. I'm starting at the bottom. I think the number 32 team heading into the years of Seattle Seahawks and my burning question for these guys is just quite simple. How long will they stick with the Geno and and drew lock combo? Because at some point they need to get a move here at quarterback and whether that will be Jimmy Garoppolo later on or someone else in the trade market before the October deadline. It just doesn't seem feasible that they can stick with these two guys going forward unless they are in full on tank mode. For Bryce young or CJ Stroud or one of those guys in next year's draft. Well, I think if you don't mind, this is the first burning question. I think the burning question is how long will they stick with Geno? Because they're going to stick with the Geno lock for 17 weeks. 17 games, 18 weeks. I mean, if it's not working out, last thing they're going to do is trade for another quarterback to save a season that's best to be tanked. So the question is, maybe, you know, do they really believe in the genome lock? As the answer, to me, Gino starting, they deep down. If you put sodium pentothal into Pete Carroll's gum, like if you got a stick of gum and you inject it with sodium pentothal into it, right? Yeah. And so he choose it and he's got to tell you really what is on his mind. He believes that Geno and Locke can get this team to the playoffs. When a Super Bowl, he probably like, I don't know about that. This is not our year for that. But the question is, is how long how long can Geno last? Because at some point I think Locke is going to get a shot this year. And they might not be 32 overall, but interesting that you choose them that way. So 31 is the bears. You're going bears next. I'm going Texans 31. That's low. Okay. Well, I've seen some mock drafts where they're number one and they're taking a quarterback, but I don't want to do every question about the quarterbacks, but for me, it's basically just how many wins will it take to shake the Watson stink? Like, deshaun Watson is going to loom over this team. I think for quite some time, just because of the way he sat out last year, the Texans settled Seuss that weren't even brought against them. But just how many wins will it take? We know winning is the ultimate deodorant. So how many will it take to kind of shake that Watson stink this year for Houston? How many wins would it take? Yeah.

"Get Jodie foster and then I'm in. Is that the whole game? Foster and a fan? Jodie Foster could be my coach. Okay, so. Us, Jodie Foster and fan walk into a bar. And our team names have the lamb stop screaming Clarice. I mean, it's just right there. It's there for you. I would name my team lotion in the basket. Okay. Or multiple MiGs. It rubs the lotion on its skin. Okay, very good. Let's get to this new segment, shall we? Let's do it. We've got a new segment on this program, which means brockman thought it about it for about two days. And I'm like, yeah, sure. Yeah, sure. No, no, you've been thinking you've been cultivating this. And this is something that I used to write at my old column when I had a newspaper. When I worked at a newspaper in Maine, I had a website. And so I've been doing this for a long time, but I haven't brought it here in quite some time. So brockman is re gifting the rich eisen show. Yes. With something from his archives. Is this what made you an award winner? Do you know an award for your column writing? No, I wrote an award. I won an award for a movie reviews. Oh. In which I reviewed ghost rider, which starred Nicolas Cage. Who later became the inspiration for my son's name. So how about that? Oh, wow. You reviewed one movie and it got you an award? Critics choice award. Thank you very much. Main press association, critics Joyce. All you gotta do is review one movie. It wasn't all a bunch of movies. No, that was the one I submitted. Oh, it was one of the used to submit. But then I was main sports columnist of the year for like a March Madness previously. So you're just not some Jamal walking off the street. Most days. Here we go. It's called brockman's burning questions. And so it's in the order of I'm doing reverse order of kind of like preseason power rankings. So starting at 32, who I think is the bottom team in the league. Right. And we're getting all the way to number one next Thursday for the kick-off. So it's 5 teams at a time. Is that what it is? So I'm doing 7 first and then 5 a day until the season. Very good. So this is the bottom 7. Bottom 7 of the NFL and a burning question for each. It's time for the first installment of brockman's burning questions.

"Kyle Shanahan's press conference yesterday in light of sticking around with Jimmy Garoppolo, he's still there in the same quarterback room with the starting quarterback who job Jimmy took. Last year, or he took Jimmy's job this year, Jimmy's not upset. I mean, to use the Seinfeld phrase, everybody's all copacetic. So that's coming up in this hour. Chris brockman shortly. With a new segment here on this program, burning questions. Chris Brock brockman's burning questions, right? That's right. We have a drop for it too. Yeah, I think so. We got a little production value. All right, let's come on over. You get that ready. You get that ready, fella. TJ Jefferson, good to see you over there. What an hour we just had. Mark Andrews of the ravens, James Connor of the Cardinals. Our new friend of the program, his name is Joel stetler. He's a third grade teacher in Fresno, California calling from, as he said a fusion chair, he's the guy that I, along with Susie, we saw him take the stage of the killer's concert on Saturday night holding up a sign saying that he wants to come on stage. He's fighting cancer. He wants to come on stage and play a song with the band. He did, he was so great at it. The whole place went nuts. I tweeted out a video of it, and he saw that, heard our conversation on our show earlier this week and just called in, man, we have a wonderful chat with him. And if you missed it, go to our YouTube stream, YouTube dot com slash rich eyes and show the four 5 7s in the chat room. Our sitting there and commenting on everything. And I heard during the commercial break an hour number two, words that normally would, I think, frighten most men on Planet Earth is your wife is in the chat room. And so Susan's been she's been active in the YouTube chat room this week. Just a few comments here and there. She also texted me about a rich eisen show fantasy league. What are we doing? There have been behind the scenes discussions about having a show fantasy league as TJ will point out to anyone who will listen. He's been trying to do this with us for years and no one has really been interested. 'cause how many leagues are you in? I'm in one that I actually care about, but we do the Alice chains lead. That's two. And I do pick them. I do survivor. You're now in this third one with journalism. I gamble. I got a lot going on. I can't remember. How old are you? 42. And you got a lot of astronauts going. I have a problem. So, you know, adding another league to all of that is, you know, a lot of you gotta have time to gamble. I really need to focus on really a need to have a good job. He put a pool in, so, you know, is that what it is? Well, you're not betting that much money that I'd pay for a pool. Absolutely not. Absolutely not. However, you know, that's not nothing. Well, I mean. So what would this fantasy league be? It would just be amongst us, and then we would invite fans to join us. No, no, I think it's just going to be everyone here who works on the show. Some of our villains Ryan leaf and lions. I see what she's that's it. Yeah, yeah. Okay, because normally Suzy's always about involving our fans. We can get the that's what we were originally told she really cares about being in a fantasy league with us. Originally talking about just like the staff. No, I know. But just knowing Susie, her interest in it would not be that she wants a team. Let me ask her in the chat instead of talking. I think her interests would be, you should involve some of the fans to get a giveaway a spot or two for a fan to compete with us. That would make things more interesting to me. You could have a team or a couple teams where you let someone coach the team that week, even. Oh. Who? A fan? A fan, like switch it up every week. You can do that with your team. Your team. Actually do it. I'm not going to, I'm a control freak. I'm not giving up the steering wheel. That's like saying, you know what? I'm saying it at the blackjack table. I'm just going to give up that third base position to. Just bring anybody over here in Vegas. Kevin federline looking dude, come over here. During one adjacents many back surgeries, he trusted me to run this fantasy team while he was that's different. That's different. That's not what we're talking about here. It's the morphine talking. So I went for him, you know, a big deal. He knows you. That's not some random individual that you don't know. That's a good point. You would assume a fan of this program has the proper sensibilities to hand a team over to, but even I would not do that. Well, I didn't mean your team. I think designate a couple teams. I think if we do 16 team league, I think we have a ten to 12 team league. If we do this, and then the only way I would do it is if we involve fans that somehow randomly select a fan or we have fans call in and make a case. Because he can't have people do this and then not run the team. As you know, I've kicked members of this show out of a league that we're due, because they didn't pay attention. So you're going to have auditions for this. Our own our own family has tasted my wrath. My own family. Thank you. That's tasted my scorn. Because there wasn't enough focus on the roster. You got a lot of going on. You had a lot of everyone's got a lot of going on. So I turned it over to my ten year old who didn't have much. You know, there's usually taken an S when we got to get out of the house. Wow. Come on. He's at school right now. It's his first day. He's not listening. Oh man.

"They're going to make this run. Kyler has been terrible. Last four games he's 24th in EPA plus completion percentage above expectation. And it's against defenses with an average efficiency rank of 17th. So below average. And now you get the hottest defense in the league with Dallas. Number one and weighted defensive efficiency. You'll get the cowboy since week 8, number one. Success rate allowed only 37% of snaps of great successful. Dan Quinn has been fantastic. It's why he's getting a lot of pub for potentially being a head coach next year. My understanding though and he's like fully entrenched with what's going on with Dallas this season because he turned down the Jacksonville interview, which is so it's really smart move. Yeah, it could be the smart move. Yeah. The other interesting thing here is the pressure being generated in recent weeks for Dallas is absolutely off the charts since DeMarcus Lawrence returned in week 13. Downs pressured quarterbacks on 39% of dropbacks. So good thing, right, Kyler, all signs point to him getting Rodney Hudson back. The Cardinals all rolled center. That is huge. Obviously, massive snap kerfuffle last week that led to a safety. There are a couple things you should use by the way of kerfuffle. Good use out of you. There we go. North Carolina, a quick three and a half. Are you going to give us play by play on this bull game for people know exactly how late we're running this morning? We're just going to give a little play by play here in college football on the NFL podcast. So looking at this magic, there's a couple of things I think that have to give here. When you look at Arizona, they've still done a very good job winning the money down. Cardinals are number one and third and fourth down efficiency. But Dallas, number one in the NFL in third down conversion rate allowed about 9% better than league average. So something's got to give there. I just don't think with the pressure Dallas is getting right now that if you're sitting in third and 5 plus, that's going to be overly advantageous, even if you have Kyler, part of the offensive decline, Arizona has had during this recent struggle is because of the red zone production. There were number one in the NFL, the first 7 games they've converted 69% of red zone trips into touchdowns. They're down to 53% since then. It makes some sense, right? You lose your big body, jump ball guy and Hopkins and then James Conner, who you assign to give you that physical presence when space condense to kind of help negate the issues that spread offenses typically have in the red zone, he's out. And Connor missed the colts game, if you listen to the postgame presser, it didn't even sound like Connor was close to playing with his heel injury. It's just a tough game because everything points to Dallas matchup wise current form wise, but it does feel like Arizona's backs are against the wall here, right? They're being called frauds. They've been great on the road as you alluded to. What was it 5 O against the spread and straight up? Candidly, I don't really have any interest in this game. It feels super high variance as we're recording this now, though, like Dallas out to 6. So you do wonder when things start to stop here in terms of this price increase. Yeah, interesting that that's not the only game moving right now out to 6. There's another game that's of some interest moving as well. So you wonder, what kind of coordination taking place in the market that this current juncture and just kind of building on the case you made there talking about the Arizona Cardinals and some of their struggles? A quote from cliff Kingsbury about Rodney Hudson. He's a security blanket for all of us. The coaching staff O line skill position players, he's really the glue that's made it all stick together. It's a big deal to get him back. So it's always difficult to try and quantify the return of a player that even the coaching staff realizes his overall impact. And as far as Kyler Murray is concerned, you look at weeks one through 13 versus the last three weeks. His numbers 8.9 yards per attempt have dropped to 6.7, takes him from first in the league to 15th, a 7% touchdown to a temporary falls to one and a half percent. That takes him from first in the league to 27th and his passer rating from one 12 down to 77. That takes him from first in that category down to 26. So there's no doubt about it when you look at some of those numbers and see how things play out that there's definitely noise there in a Cardinals team who as you said, backs against the wall gonna need to put together their best performance. Onto a game that'll go a long way pain and defining the AFC. You can't the city chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals. We're looking at Kansas City, a 5 and a half point road favorite as they'll head to the jungle. Total in this game sits at 50 at FanDuel sports book. Kansas City, they clinch their 6th straight division crown. Now trying to secure the number one overall seed in the AFC. And when you look at the chiefs, the stories of their demise, offensively, probably premature. They're averaging more than 39 points per game over their last three games. Mark their 19th 35 plus point performance last week over the last four seasons. And you saw maybe more importantly the emergence of a potential third option in this passing attack if Byron Pringle can be that guy opposite Travis Kelce and tyreek hill matched up against a Cincinnati defense that showed plenty of vulnerabilities even last week against Josh Johnson, who has scraped up off the scrappy. Yeah, I think Pringles kind of a guy that we've talked about being very smart enough to kind of be that third guy doesn't have all the talent in the world. If you could put his smarts and route running with Robinson's body, you'd have a really elite receiver. But he's certainly dependable. The chief's offense kind of trending back the right way a 118 points the last three games. Obviously, when you look at those three defenses, they play their 22nd or worst in defense of efficiency. So I think we're still kind of hesitant to think the chiefs offense is fully nuclear again. It's still a very good offense, but we'll see what comes of that Cincinnati despite some of the question marks that I think we all have. This would be the best defense Kansas City's played since week 11. Again, not really saying all that much, my sense is the Bengals defense when I look at it is like average, maybe slightly above average, it's kind of what my eyes tell me and then I'm able to confirm that with the numbers and it kind of meshes perfectly with both efficiency and EPA numbers. But I think it's hard to ignore some of the quarterbacks that have had success against the Bengals, the back half of the season. Mike white Baker Mayfield. Jimmy G, Josh Johnson. On average, those four quarterbacks are 7th in EPA plus completion percentage above expectation the week they played the bangles. I also think there's really coaching mismatch here. I think you don't say, you don't say there's a coaching mismatch between Andy Reid and Zack Taylor. I think there's probably a matchup mismatch here as well. Last week we kind of focused on Mark Andrews and we said he'd have a field day. He did. Travis Kelce is a go this week. Cincinnati allowing nearly 12 yards per catch to tight ends this season 7 touchdowns. The Bengals are bottom 5 in the NFL in both counting stats in efficiency defending tight ends. Now, Logan Wilson returned to practice and full on Wednesday..

"So those are my top 5 MVP candidates all quarterbacks, of course, Derek Henry. I just can't put them in there, even though I want to. But he will not be back for the rest of the regular season. And so he had to be omitted, but if he was healthy, you'd better think I would have had him in there. So those are my top 5 candidates. Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, and Tom Brady. Now I'm going to give you my midseason team. I had to assemble my roster through 9 weeks so far, who would I want? Quarterback, Tom Brady, I just outlined it for you. He is the MVP to me so far this season is I've explained the high quarterback rating passer rating, a yard of a touchdown throws. What better quarterback would I want? And if I just want to go off some legacy stats, motion wins of all time, a playoff win 7 super bowls broke the all time passing yard mark this year as well. There's no other quarterback I would want on my team than Tom Brady and he's making that statement ever more true. 9 weeks through the season. So far, Tom Brady is the goat and I'd want him as my quarterback and he'd to me is the best quarterback so far through 9 weeks. Running back, Derek Henry. Yes, dary Henry, guess what? Didn't play this weekend still injured. And he still has the highest rushing yard mark. He has the most yards 937. 120, more than the next best at Jonathan Taylor. And he's played a less game he has ten touchdowns, which was the most until James Conner added a few this weekend. So that's tied for one averages the most yards per game at a 117. Had the longest or had to be fastest run as well as a ball carrier. Derek Henry has the size as well the stiff arm of package. He is the best running back in the NFL. It's terrible that he's had to have this injury..

"Stat of the game. James conner has outscored chase edmunds in full in five straight games as but is this james connor game it because if it's close i've got on their schedule. So far i've got three close games. One of them was the jacksonville game. They did win by twelve but it was close pretty late in the fourth quarter midway through in three close games. He does not have more than eleven carries in any of those game. So has he earned. That though is the bigger part of that you know. Is this james connor game dave. I'll let you start. I think every game is a james connor game. I think what we're looking at from this arizona. Offense is that james connor still. I know last week was a little bit different. It was a blowout against houston. And we saw chase. Edmunds play a ton of snaps. I think it was a season i forum. I think it was a season high for him at like right around seventy percent and it was a season low for connor. But i think that had to do with just the the cardinals wanting to get edmonds a little bit more work. He had fifteen carries ninety total yards. Everybody was happy with what edmonds did. Connor scored it wasn't even a short yardage touchdown. He had to work a little bit to get it. I think he's still got that short yardage goal line role on lock. He's there bully back. And maybe in this game against the packers. He's also going to be the closer different types of closer for this game against green bay versus what chase edmunds was in a laugher against Houston so i still like honor better. I like his chances to score..

"So I like the under, I think that they are going to build a lead. He's not going to have to throw much. And look, he's been he was clearing this line out of the gate this season, but he's been short the last two weeks and his efficiency is kind of come back to earth he was off to charts the first month. It's kind of come back to earth. You've seen that in fantasy as well. I was his point totals down. And again, the Texans are struggling, right? They're one in 5. So teams are not throwing on them. They face the fourth fewest pass attempts to season 27.2 per game. Only two quarterbacks have gotten over this mark against him. And one of them is Trevor Lawrence in that game where he threw 51 passes in week one. Remember the garbage time there for the Jags. So it just hasn't been a number, including Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield Carson Wentz. These guys have not hit this line. I don't think Tyler does either. And James Conner, yes, his passing game work is up, so I like the over 5 and a half receiving yards. I like over 13 and a half carries, too. Again, they're going to be ahead. He's a slight edge on chase Edmonds in terms of carries. And he's already averaging 13.1 carries per game. We just have to get to 13 and 14. He's been there three times. And guess what Anita he hit the 14 mark in their three blowout wins this season. The Titans rams are browns. So in the ones he fell short, of course, but they're close wins against the Viking shags in 49. That is not a coincidence. He'll be running it often in this game, barring injury, you should clear this with ease. Let's talk about the colts in the forty-niners. Not sure if you have a play here, but I love deebo Samuel over 66 and a half receiving yards, especially since Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to be back at the home. At the quarterback position, also, and I always butcher this dudes the last name Kyle joce. Use check, use check. Thank you. Thank you, thank you. Over 16 and a half receiving yards. This has been very sneaky. They've been utilizing him in the passing game, big time. He's averaging 5 to 6 targets a game. So this is a really sneaky good play for minus one 15 over 16 and a half receiving yards. Thoughts on those two prophets and do you have one in this matchup? I do. I like that. You're right on you check. He's kind of been there sort of number two passing down compliment to Elijah Mitchell because they don't really trust Trey sermon now. So with you there. And I love the debo prop. That is maybe a sneak preview of thinking about that for a best bet on Sunday if the line doesn't fantasy football now. It is moving up, you know, so jump on it if you can when I first saw it at 66 and a half, I spent my drink all over my screen cleaned up and then I went and then made the bet because it's way too low. Look, this guy has been over this mark in three of four Jimmy Garoppolo starts this season. And his average Anita in those games, not close to 67 and a half. It's one 22.5. He is crushing it 10.2 targets per game, 8 or more targets in 7 consecutive games going back to last season, almost ten yards after the catch. This season, which is just an elite, he's dominant. And by the way, they're playing the cult, 68 plus receiving yards allowed to at least one receiver in 5 of their 6 games. The only exception was the Titans, and they were destroyed with injuries at that position. So, you know, he should clear this line up by a huge margin. I know we're going to end with some plays you like from Monday Night Football. I'm back on the podcast with Tyler Tyler fugam on Mondays, but I know you're not. So I'm just a shelf that for a second we'll end with the podcast strong with your Monday Night Football plays. I just want to throw out quickly a few other plays that I like. I think Green Bay is going to have a field day without Washington football team defense who's just been horrific this season. I like Aaron Rodgers over one and a half touchdowns. He targets devonte Adams as we know quite often over 7 and a half receptions. And I think aging Dillon, who's become a big part of that backfield for the Green Bay Packers, especially in the receiving game over 9 and a half receiving yards. So those are three plays. I like in the Washington Green Bay game. Also, I think and I'll end with this one, and that is I think Rashad Bateman can be a sneaky good play. His over unders in regard to receptions and receiving yards are not on the board yet Mike. I don't think they will be until like maybe a few hours before kick-off. But I talked about, I've talked about them a lot on these podcasts. I couldn't wait for him to come off of IR because of the groin. He was targeted like 5 times last week, this past week. I think he had four receptions from maybe 40, 50 yards, but that was just working him in slowly. Like this guy is really going to blow up in this very well could be the week. So keep an eye on those. You know, if those stat lines come out and it's over two and a half receptions over 25 and a half receiving yards, jump on it. I think this very well can be his coming out party this week against the Cincinnati Bengals. I just want to throw that out there. But let's end on the Monday Night Football game. The stage is yours, Mike clay. What are the prop bets you're looking at in the same Seattle game? Yeah, sure. First of all, I'm with you on Aaron Rodgers that I agree on that over as well. Love it, even at the really poor juice that you're going to get there, but he gets too touchdowns almost every game. So why not? Yeah, the ones I like for Monday night we'll start with Alvin Kamara here under 22 and a half carries. Look, he's gone over 22 carries twice this season and three of his past 7 games tracing back to the end of last year. But those are the only three games in his career that he has hit that mark. Now, I know he's playing a different role this season, more carries, fewer targets. But he still failed to get to this mark in three of 5 games, right? So it's just tough. It's just a really high line. It should be their favorites on the road, which is, you know, helps his cause a little bit, but 23 carries. That's basically his ceiling. So I don't like that line. It's just too high for me. Even if against a team that has faced a lot of rushing attempts this season. And then same team, Jameis Winston over one and a half passing touchdowns. He's thrown at least two in all three of their wins this season. And again, they are favorites in this game in Seattle, this saint's offense. Remember they're on a bias, so maybe they were on a bias or forgetting about them a little bit, but they are 7th and offensive touchdowns per game..

"To me is that they do spread the ball around so much that there could be some games like last game where he was injured but he's still played is normal snap share and he just isn't part of the passing game that much you know like like christian kirk has game. Aj greenhouses game where they get nothing and chase. Edmunds is not immune to that. So if you take that away you have a pretty bad running back. I'd say that's the word he's a he's a fine number two running back and pr but mid range number two running backs ppo or have bad games. There's no such thing as a a consistently good number two running back. And i don't think i also think there's a little worried about upside. You know i i. I don't know that he has a lot of weekly upside. But there's no way i'm letting never did if he could score some damn touchdowns well you know. There's one thing i just last thing on evans. I drafted a lot of edmonds. Because james conner has been one of the most injury-prone running backs in football for the last few years. T- still the same james connor. He could still get hurt. It's only been five games. So that is why drafted. Because i think you could get three or four games where he's almost alexandra. Madison and that would be huge. Obviously it's a gamble. I can't guarantee that's going to happen. But i still think conor could could get hurt like anyone. But he's more injured but he's he's also playing less when he was getting hurt and pittsburgh he was there workhorse. Running back a lot of gary's though but healthy you write us on pace for no yards twice total yards. I guess twelve hundred over fourteen hundred fifty total yards so he's averaging over eighty yards per game. That's decent floor and non p. pr. I mean you'd want a little bit more and you're right about the touchdowns and that was the biggest worry that we had on edmunds coming into the year..

"Of of what happened here. Yeah absolutely and i will tell you that the n. Actually thought they were trying to make him make for sam to make the decision for them I surprised on one hand But not because they did eventually do what i thought they would do. but You know they knew they had to do something with that salary. Cap hit but wanting Feeling that they were in position to move on from him With all the changes they were make gang or thought they were going to have to make a turns out some of those they didn't I'm certainly not surprised that he's back. I expected that all along. But i have to admit that i was a little surprised that there was some hesitation. I always thought it would be. Ben would go out on ben's terms and nobody else is in for a while. It looked like it looked like it wasn't going to be on his terms. What did you make their off-season in pittsburgh. Well the funny thing is is. They fought a lot of the changes. Were going to be on offense and not on defense. They thought you know maybe ben was going to be gone. They knew they were going to move on from james conner. They thought you to sniff Shuster would be gone. They knew markey's pouncey was going to retire. And of course that happened and did move on from james connor but the funny thing is is a lot of their changes. Dan ended up being on defense. They lost three starters They kind of anticipated that might happen with duprey. And maybe even Mike hilton but now you throw in retirement. Yesterday of vince williams. You know a guy that they had released after season decided to bring back just to kind of plug that hole for one more year and then he retires on them. So i think their offense Yeah there's a lot of changes. They weren't counting on david decastro moving on from him. That was injury related So the changes on the offensive line. They kinda somewhat knew that was going to happen. But they didn't plan on castro so some of those changes they counted on sunday. Didn't i think they're better offensively. I think there are a little a little less Ferocious on defense. Let me get a quick hit on the other teams in the division. Let's start with the bengals. What do you expect well. Until they show that they can move up to be a five hundred ballclub. I'll wait and see it's kind of like the browns two years ago. The browns at the show me they could do it again and they did But i i mean. I like joe borough. I think he's going to be fantastic quarterback. I hated to see the injury last year. Hate to see that happen to any kind of promising young star. I think they'll be better. But i mean i think. The browns are legit and ravens. The ravens the ravens are very much like steelers. Even when you don't think they're going to be very good they're good that's just that's a salute our organization. But there's no reason to think look. I'm not going to sit here and pronounce. The steelers are going to super bowl. But as i tell everybody. Dan i mean who would have thought they'd start eleven and last year who thought they'd go twelve and four and win the division. I can tell you not too. Many people certainly around here and my feeling has always been as long as you have number seven you not out of any game and you're not out of its jerry great to talk to you and hopefully we'll catch up with you during the season we appreciate your time ya dan anytime a good to chat with you business. "Average draft position aka movement in the finnish football market in the show notes you can find a free linked to charts in the full article on this topic from each yard director of analytics and the man behind all this michael leoni. Let's get into it. With this week's risers. David montgomery is up to about forty third overall from forty fifth overall underdog and he's up three spots on f. Fcc as well. And i think this is almost certainly related some of the whispers and speculation out of chicago. That three coen's rehab from his week three acl tear last year isn't going overly smoothly again. I want to be clear. This is not hard news onto cohen. It's him looking stiff. It not as he's not participating fully. He's wearing a brace still have a long way to go so week. once. I don't wanna rule him out yet but yeah i mean. The market understands how crucial to ricco in status is to david montgomery's outlook that receiving role is just so so so massive. So i you know. I'm still taking wide receivers over david montgomery every time in that middle round forage i'm taking. Dj more tyler. Lockett jomar cheese. Adam feeling and you know i. I'd even add that. Even if cohen can't go early in the year where he's limited early near jimmy. Williams is a far better backup than anything the bears had last year. So yeah. I'm still taking wide receivers over david montgomery in that middle around. Four range nother riser. Is michael pittman. He's up three full spots on underdog and up more than six spots on f ftc. I'm not exactly sure what's going on here. I don't think there's been any news really around the colts wide receivers. I'm personally kind of ma- on pitman. I still think the colts are gonna use a heavy rotation still think they'll foolishly tried to make things happen with scheme targets to t y hilton. I would know that the bible narrative is big time in play here for carson wentz and obviously improved quarterback play would be huge for michael pittman winson frank reich have his bomb in i think i think carson wentz gonna bounce back and played far better than he did last year in philly all have the ardeatine here gender labs look deeper into pitman's biblical status. But yeah i'd take guys like murky brown and devante parker ahead of michael pittman right now but i think i'm pretty much okay with where he's going. Last riser we're going to do. Today is on the deeper side of things. And it's josh kelley. Josh kelley is up to two hundred and tenth overall on. Nfc up thirteen spots on f f. As well i see the angle here. Right austin ecuador's obviously the guy but we know. We know repeatedly coaching staffs. Don't love to pound in between the tackles for twenty times game so there is room for a big back and also maybe justin jackson gets cut. There's been some speculation around that and maybe six rookie larry roundtree. Can't beat out josh kelley. So yeah i think it's interesting this deep in the two hundreds range on josh kelley at saint something worth watching and monitoring in camp. If you're in a very deep format let's get to this week's followers james. Connor is the biggest faller down one hundred down to one hundred eleventh from one hundred seventh on underdog. He's also down nine spots on nfc. He's down eight spots on f f. Pc is a tough one. You know the cardinals very clearly did not want to use chase. Edmunds goal line or sharp short yardage stuff the last couple of years so i personally think if conner has gas left in the tank. He's going to play a decent amount probably more than most people think. And he's going to play around the goal line a lot but there's also a range of outcomes. There's something in there where james connor is just totally lonzo. Nfl didn't think very much of him in free agency. one year. One point seven million dollar contract so yeah. I'm a buyer as james connors. Adp is falling in these bills. Where i only have one or two running backs by round eight or so. I like taking james connor. You can see him getting maybe into round nine. Sometimes i like the his tag is dropping. I'm still willing to take chances on there. Another followers ronald jones in kind of the same range. She's down to one hundred fifth from ninety nine th overall in f. fcc and honestly like this could be based on the fact that silva bash ronald jones on one of the pods. We did last week. I'm not certain that's it. I'm not gonna go full shout full shoutout out to us but it could be anyway. I can definitely see pass to roggio beating. Adp because he simply the best pure runner on a really good team with a really good offensive line period. you know. So he's behind. Leonard fournette and geo bernard in the past game but he's way ahead of them in the run game and i think i think that the bucks coaches know that so i don't have a strong stance here. I haven't been taking rojo very often. But i get it and if you're into roggio. Beware that his. Adp is falling one interesting thing. We're seeing among followers league. Quarterbacks are falling a bit in adp. I've seen josh allen. Go in the sixties on underdog. I've seen ross and jalen hurts falling way further than they have been at times cuyler too. I really encourage everyone to listen to establish the edge with leoni and jj zacharias recent talking about the state of the quarterback position in twenty twenty one. But yeah you know. I'm in on these rushing. Qb's if they're going three to four rounds later than patrick mahomes like i'm not. I don't wanna let josh allen. Get by me in the sixties or i don't want to cuyler get past me in sixties and russ and jalen hurts in these guys you know. I think having one of them makes a lot of sense particularly in best ball where you can stream another follower last while we're going to do is cadavers tony. He's down five spots on underdog to one hundred eighty eighth overall and he's down twelve spots on nfc. I think this is just people realizing that there is. Tony does not have a direct path to a real role. He's behind golladay. And shepard and slayton and ingram and saquon and maybe even rudolf on the target totem pole. But then again you know. The giants used the twentieth overall. Pick on dairies tony. So there's a lot of draft capital behind him. They have a lot of incentive to get him on the field. I don't think it's absolutely and scenes using eighteenth round pick on the guy. This is probably i would guess. The lowest has stock will be because he'll make some plays encamping. I'll get some buzz. And people remember why he went in the first round. Even if most of twitter and i didn't think he should have wanted to do a quick note here on what we're watching now before we get out of here. This packers stuff is what we're watching. I mean it's just so clearly. What i'll be talking about on this podcast. What we writing about very very soon. Aaron rodgers i think at this point is really likely to play for the packers based on recent comments. And like we're k- teams reporting for camp. Like no deal is done yet so i think it's really liked. The rogers plays for the packers this year. We have started to adjust our stuff to account for that moving up devante and lazard and tagnon in amari. Rogers i'm starting to feel better about. Aj dylan were expecting the adp of all these guys despite really sharply if slash win. Aaron rodgers. Back to the packers is official. I think it's worth getting ahead of that. As soon as possible are gonna do it for this edition of market mondays..

"Where a diva wide receivers not necessarily been good for a quarterback. All right let's talk about chase edmonds running back for the zona cardinals because wide range of opinions. I don't know if you guys saw this. He hasn't even have a proper face. Scan maddin right now chase. Oh they doing dirty like that no get him into madden if he's got the potential to be a top tier runners nonsense. But what do you think. Adp is of chase edmonds. Because i think us being out here in in the valley We have a different perspective. On how the team might utilize them. I think outside of the valley. It's a very mathematical equation for people. Where david johnson He laughed and kenyan drake left. And now the next man up is chase edmonds. So you know. Have you ever heard of chase edmonds. Oh well you heard of him when he scored three times against the giants you heard about these boom games that made headlines for fantasy. But maybe you're not watching him week in and week out very smart talented player. Twenty five years old five nine to ten. I believe he doesn't have a goal and carry in the nfl. He has one carry inside the five in three years. So where do you think he's going. Because i think too. Hi yes is the answer. I think they view them as somebody with like an upside that is unknown so it yes the ambiance you know maybe like somebody viewed gibson last year or something. I feel pretty confident about who the fourth round running backs are someone to go after the al. Go fifth round Because he's still got perceived upside again. I think he's a late third early four. Oh i was with jason. I don't think he's he made his way out of the fourth round running back dead zone. I i believe. I think he's in the fifth round. So whatever that'll be my answer for the the adp in all say that like five. Oh four five four. That's too high for you. I'll go four or five home. Five one bluejeans five ten okay. I was dyslexic by twenty. Five ten is not too bad. Because you know it isn't because again we do some work here. Leaving room it chase edmonds could be the guy. I just do not see it. Projecting out that way with how the team has appreciated him in that auxiliary role his Just the composition of his body compared to james conner who is a bigger bruising type of running back. Now okay james. Conner is awful though if he's done but i don't think he's. I don't think james conner looking at james conner last year. I don't think he was done. He heard a lot was on the. He has a ticket to get off on done town here very soon. And it's i mean if you're looking at the steelers offensive line in their offense and you were saying like how disappointed you were with that. Rob conner had success regardless of those things. Yeah he had some success because that team facilitates those opportunities for him and he was the only player. But i think what you just when you watch them play. This is not the same player from two and a half years ago when he filled in for love. Bill he doesn't have the exact same quickness. I don't know how much of the passing game work he's going to like. This is not pumping brakes on chase. Edmonds to me is not a pro. James conner tale. It is a it is a reality that they're going to use both players and that will cap the upside. I view this. Whoa vanik leah. It will be split back. Backfield for sure and the upside is with chase edmonds because of the injury history for james conner if you wanna draft chase edmonds hoping that he becomes de facto guy when connor inevitably misses four or five games. Then then. that's that's you know one thing you can try to hope for but i don't believe chase edmonds will ever receive the guy role on his own. They're a great offense. You don't have to be the only guy in arizona to contribute kenyan drake got a ton of work chase. Edmonds still finished as the top twenty four running back seven times in sixteen weeks last year with kenyan drake. It's big plays certainly rather have chase edmonds. Then james conner no question. Don't care about the goal line. Like i'd much rather have i mean multiple top ten weeks last year for chase edmonds just being a. He had a top ten week with three attempts. He had a top ten week with five attempts nas catcher but the thing is is because of that. You're not playing him in those weeks. You can invest ball. that's fine. i think you'd be able to play him as a flex every week of the year. No questions asked if in this offense if that is true fine five ten is great because you have the injury upside with james conner and you have a flex worthy starter every Every week. I don't think you're going to feel comfortable flexing him every week. And i would rather have james conner. He's going a bit later. Not too much later. I believe than chase edmonds and jt your point. It was a split backfield last year. Kenyan drake stop fifty four percent of the snaps chase edmonds forty seven percent like it was that was already a split backfield in terms of playing time. But kenyan drake was the power runner. He was the power guy. And i think that's what james conner is and now you have The upgrades at the on cardinals have made to their offense of lines. Specifically getting rodney hudson in here to play center those goal line up the middle man. They're going to work now where it is cliff. Wanna run right up the middle ride up the middle and it's gonna work out. It's going to help chase doing the same thing. They're not going to not run chase interior at all but goal line. We'll go to. I believe lines gonna go to con- you said it was a split backfield chase finished twenty eight at the position so i think kenyan drake has more had more in the tank last year than than Do we know how these guys are in russia. Can you pull rugby pretty massive right now. I can give you that. I was showing o'connor in the eighth. Oh i would rather have connor. The spending a fifth in the fifth round chock full of great wide receivers. The he's at five ten. I take. I would take chase and the upside there. Because he's twenty five and he's a he's a good player so i'm you know i still think that we're all three lower on chasing some others are but i can see the path people people see it with arizona's offense and i think for good reason. I mean this is a top five scoring off. it's potentially this year So yeah there's only twenty six surprise. You don't elder a europe. Yeah it does but he because he doesn't look like it anymore. I mean unless you're talking injuries or whatever happened last year. Connors two full seasons removed from his fantasy real meeting expectations. Okay that's a fair way to put a- running back twenty six last year at the end of the season and i don't have the numbers in front of me. But before he got hurt he had finished outside of the top thirty just three times and he was. He was very good for fantasy football last year. Through week eleven. Hey man as a cardinal fan come down if you want to tell me both players talented. I'm fine with that Let's go with will fuller well full right now. Adp price check. Yeah the answer is too late. yeah he is just too late ended. it probably matches my ranking of which is.

"Well apple gaskin for sure gas off the board round five as one of the last arbutus ahead of giovanni williams for sure for now. Yes head of the bucks guys. So he's the highest end guy that we've talked about so far would you go Kareem hunt or mike davis. I think i'll take davis that's fair. All right let's talk about arizona. This is a good one. Here actually really loved the running back. Value the draft value for james conner. Just going to take a look here. James conner went with the second pick of round nine in the draft. We did a couple of weeks ago and chase edmonds whence to rj. same guy. he took them both. So we took chase edmonds at the end of round six. And he took james conner at the beginning around nine. This is the scottish trafficking. Mary oh no this is regular. This was two weeks ago a on youtube. Yeah so what do you think about that chris. Lock on both up but connor in round nine and late round six pick for just ahead of devante williams for rj I prefer the connor value. I'm not sure edmonds is ever going to be lead back in my expectation would be admins is in the edmonds role and james connors in the kenyan drake role. And i think that's valuable for both of them both can be viable fantasy starters. But i don't see that big of a gap between the two of them in my in my rankings. I'm pretty sure i have them. If not back to back very close back to back. Connor one spot ahead of edmonds at twenty seven and twenty eight. Takes a little guts to do that. Just because we've seen connor not play sixteen games yet. He's miscellaneous three games each of the last three seasons and this is a team that they use the running backs a decent amount their middle of the package slashes or at least they were middle of the package. But kylie's there that could always take some work away from both of them. Edmonds didn't even play fifty percents of the snaps last year and add over fifty catches. He had over eight hundred.

"Like diop says ajay green. The guy is unbelievable man. He embraced me. We don't have egos. He's telling me like if you want to run a route and i'm not that position just let me know so you have a guy like that two guys like that and room. It's going to be unbelievable and feed off of each other. And he said that that offense he thinks is going to be unbelievable. And obviously you have to say that if you're on a team or whatever but with the thought to kyla murray is coming into his third year that offense had just flashes of unbelievable i mean just moments that were seems like the offense was damn near unstoppable. You had j. green. Who's been you know kind of lost in cincinnati. Okay no fence. Cincinnati great city. Hey great see no indoor practice facility for the nfl team that makes billions of dollars so you can think that there may be behind in the competitive edge against all the other thirty one other teams or whatever they do have that but he's kinda got lost their turnover coach turnover quarterback turnover. He's an absolute stud. Whenever he's healthy can stay healthy. Was he healthy. And they weren't playing him and he wasn't playing because it was cincinnati and there were so battle. The time these are things will find out. James conner there. That team could be a team. Arizona could be a team and by the way when he talk about weapons there in the conversation. But there's a lot of teams at the top that have great weapons in. There's a of teams that don't so i'm assuming golden tate's a hot commodity right now and he should be i. Would i would love to have gone on my team. He's he's one of those guys like he's not scared to crack walk dudes like he's walking down field. I'm not saying cheap shots. Though dude plays through the whistle. I respect him and i love what he does but going back to agent grain in hopkins. That's pretty rare for hopkins. A guy like that to come up to age green. A if there's a route.

"Over the last two seasons kenyan drake had eighteen rushing touchdowns in twenty three games with arizona. Now it's james conner stern. Let's talk about it right now on fantasy football today and five. Everybody happy with day to you. Make sure you're listening on spotify or wherever else You listen to podcasts. Follow streamers and tell your friends help us grow and add amazing for jamie is. We're here to talk about the james conner news. Jamie how do you feel about this. You like it. It was a great destination for him. Because chase edmonds while. I do think he has a chance to be A significant fantasy contributor opposite a chance to be a contributor for the cardinals in a bigger role or at least hopefully gets a bigger role. This was an opening. This was a chance for him to go in and potentially be the featured back so We'll see how healthy is you know it's coming off Things toe surgery At the end of last season you know that was a big part of the physical but he had to take with cardinals. But i just don't buy chase edmonds as the feature guy you know. i like. Jay said men's i talked them up A lot last year. And i will continue to do so This is a good situation for him as well. Because of connor's injury history but i do think that connor if he's healthy we'll be back for the cardinals because of the way that he profiles and what is His history suggested as opposed to chase. Edmonds has done so far. He's really interesting. It's basically when he's gotten work. He's been pretty good in weeks. Two through eight. He left week one with an injury weeks. Two through eight. He looked like one of the steals. A fantasy football drafts. He was a top ten running back in that stretch. He averaged seventeen point three carries per game. He was really good. He scored five touchdowns in those six games and then after that pittsburgh changed their offense they went from about thirty five passes a game to about forty five passes a game. He missed some time. He had nine point eight carries per game and was irrelevant. Basically just was bust for the second half of the season. And he's only he's gonna be twenty six in may i. It's really hard to evaluate in such a small contract jamie less than two million dollars. So how should we be looking at james conner right now he. He's still in the prime of his career. But it doesn't feel that way. No i mean you know. He's been so banged up. You know the year that le'veon bell missed. He was great for the majority of the season. Then he got hurt believes week. Thirteen had an ankle injury and linked to the finish line. Twenty fourteen Battled injuries Not twenty twenty. Nineteen battled injuries twenty twenty. Same thing as you to so. It's a great offense. You know that the cardinals like you said Kenyan drake did a very good job running the ball last year. We you know constantly see him more involved than the passing game. So i think that's edmonds has a chance to be successful but if congress healthy. No he's on approve. A deal is a one year deal. Same thing like they did with drake you know when they tendered him last year. So it's a small contract. But i think he said look at almost all. These contracts is a small contracts. Unless you're a superstar caliber player. So i hope he takes advantage of. I think he's a he's the low end number two high in number three running back into a guy that you're going to look at probably somewhere around five I don't think he's somebody. You're gonna be aggressively targeting just to kind of tie in the recent news in you know for those of you that. Listen to our podcast on tuesday. This news happened right after. Basically we were done recording so we talked about giovanni bernard and his impact on the bucks. I'd rather have james conner and his potential health training camp than any of tampa. Bay's running backs and i'd probably rather have chase edmonds. Maybe then everybody but wonder for net so Connor is going to be adjusted. My rankings zip for anybody looking. So he's gonna be somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty three to twenty six right now. I have four netted twenty three. Like i said i'm i'm going to bump him down. I'm gonna put conner heads. That's kind of the range for me. You don't reminds me a little bit of david. Johnson going to the texans last year people didn't really think much of him and he just. He ended up getting a lot of work and he only played. He played twelve games but he finished as top eighteen. Running back Can you does that. Make sense that comparison very much guys being written off johnson there. She didn't think he'd catch a lot of passes the same way. That's been a big part of james conner game jamie. It's not going to happen with chase edmonds there but it's still i see some parallels they're very very similar and look kenyan drake when he was traded to the cardinals. Not not the comparison. But you know you saw the jumping off point. So i think for conard comes down to help improve their offense in line with the addition of rodney hudson center. You know kyle is going to help. All of his guys make plays in. You know maybe the addition of jj green opens up things even more for this often. So it's gonna be a high scoring team he's going to have. Those opportunities is as a matter of will be on the field to take advantage of them. So i think for people that are looking at it from dynasty or keeper perspective You've missed your window. Trade four james conner. You know if you don't think he's going to stay healthy. Now's the time to probably sell james conner. Just based on the track record in the time that he's missed gains in the fact that he's coming off another surgery so I don't think this is a a negative for chase edmonds again. I think he is Still has a chance to be a significant contributor. Maybe a little bit better than he was when kenyan drake was healthy So we'll see we'll see how it all works out for these two guys but you know if you were in the chase edmonds camp and you were worried about the cardinals getting a rookie. Who could come in. And maybe take over completely. No this is a win for jason. He had fifty three catches last year. He was number thirty in non. Ppi number twenty five and pr per game. Not as good. Because he played all sixteen games. he was forty. Second in nine per game is chase edmonds and thirty six per game. Npr but for you know he had a pretty reliable stretch where he was getting eight or more fantasy points. Ten of twelve games eights not good. But it's kind of player where you got by weeks. You got injuries you throw him in you. Get eight or more points. That's not bad. He was reliable as a fifty catch guy last year. Weren't that many of them all right. How about josh. Jacobs or go back to james conner. Josh jacobs james conner. It's a great question. I'll probably still jacobs just based on health. But that's you know they're not far apart. Rather have melvin gordon than both just giving what his is in denver right now I'll take james conner. Only david johnson. You go back to your comparison just because of what. The situation isn't houston. How seems like it's going to play out. So this is kind of the range at least for me. You know of these is of You know connor. If you're telling me right now. Congress play sixteen games or something. Excuse me He could be a top fifteen guy you know. He's got that type of upside in this offense. I don't know if he's a league winner anymore. Like the was expected to be after that. Tony eighteen campaign when lebanon set out but Again landing spot matters and there's not the type of competition where he's going to suffer because of the way chase edmonds has shown you so far. Maybe this is the year. The jays edmonds takes that next step. But you know it's hard to go back. Pass that week nine game last year against miami when he had the chance to be the starting guy and twenty five carries for seventy eight yards and doesn't exactly play very well seventy yards three catch for three catches for eighteen yards. And the last thing you know you can wrap it up. Less than i'll say about chase edmonds is let's say you just want to take him and have that guy that can be a bye week replacement or maybe someone with upside. We've talked about it a lot. We've said the injuries but here are the numbers. James conner and four seasons has played fourteen thirteen ten and thirteen games. Now you're talking about a seventeen game season if you're giving me three or four games with chase edmonds a starter i know. He was bad against the dolphins last year but two years ago against the giants scored three touchdowns in one game so at still. That's that's a really exciting opportunity for someone who's not completely uses. He's not just a handcuff. Any final thoughts jamie or did we cover all the nieces chase. Edmonds is the type of guy if he goes. You're rb you on. Have you know so if you go heavy on pass catcher of quarterback depending on how you build your team starts to get into that around six ish range of okay who could be a guy that i could potentially star ed times. This season as you said he said perfectly. There's gonna be some chances for chase. Edmonds start if he doesn't win the job outright and so we're just talking about what. The situation is right now with the expectation of being better but edmonds may be better. Maybe the guy that they lean on and he could be the one that. If you're jacking now you end up with.

James conner david johnson Josh jacobs Ten giovanni bernard Jay forty Jamie Nineteen josh six games eighteen yards johnson kenyan drake Edmonds Twenty fourteen twelve games seventy yards twenty three games tuesday

"The afc north. Before that times are changing. Bob dylan segment time to retention just in this country and civil rights but also with the changing of the guard. The cleveland browns. So you're steeler fan man. What are you doing moving forward next season. Once you get over this shock once you get over his depression once you get over this denial. What are you guys gonna do. Not not firing mike tomlin happened. Tomlin go nowhere though. Forget all that could be suggested on the offensive with a coordinators. They're really watching too much. Imaginations from all those who follow the game of football at that level the complaint with the defense was the fact that they really didn't do anything exotic. They really didn't do anything spectacular. It's just a matter of well. You know what my guys are billard than your guy. So why do why do we really need to do anything clever. Or why do we need to do anything to spare some for. Why do we need to do anything unique or anything like that. I got cameron heyward. Got t. j. Watt and i got i those guys. What do i need to do anything. Special for os just in case we start faltering a little bit. I don't really have a plan. B and the steelers on defense didn't have plan b so it would it was exploited especially again when you turn the ball over and give cleveland the few position that they did offense. I mean some. we gotta do something. If you're a steeler fan number one we had be something battle running game. You can have ben rothlisberger. Throw the ball sixty. Sometimes you can't have been rothlisberger. Be the way that he was in terms of. The passiveness can't be happening. Ben roethlisberger will be thirty nine years old next season. He threw the ball over six hundred times. The season be happening. You got to do something about running whether that means drafting somebody whether it means obtaining somebody you gotta do. Something goes james conner. While he's not good he's not coming back for free agent so he's not going to be coming back in he wasn't the answer to your problems or else he would have been the answer to your problems because he was the guy that was starting at the running back position. You already let one of your running backs go third string. So what are you going to do about the really game. And of course more importantly the most important thing moving forward if you're a fan of the pittsburgh steelers and you're watching you listening to this podcast called windows world sports with your host..

Bill Barnwell on NFL Week 14

"To one bill barnwell. We just watched the now. Ten and three bills beat the now eleven two steelers twenty six to fifteen and i am not certain of many things in this world anymore. But i am pretty certain. They're going to be a lot of babies named josh or in buffalo alone that people in buffalo are named. Ej drew rob tyron. We're all going to have to change their name to josh. Over the next few months bill barnwell host the bill barnwell show podcast. And you can find his indispensable. Nfl column on espn plus every monday. He's also never broken a table that we know of. They'll help me understand this. How did the buffalo bills turned things around after such a slow. Start on offense tonight. This was interesting because the slowest kinda out to these sort of exact start you would want right. I mean josh. Allen was struggling the steelers pass rush was in his face early and often does allen. Started this game seven of sixteen for thirty nine yards with an interception and a fumble alan of the gun. He's back late rush. Throws it down the left side line and it's intercepted that is a great offense was struggling on the side of the ball. It's fair to say but look like the steelers were josh allens head and maybe last year that would have been it. Josh allen never would have recovered this year is different. Josh allen is different and he has a weapon nobody can cover and the combination of allen and stefan digs took advantage of some rare mistakes and misplace. From the pittsburgh steelers allen's a hot stretch started really with the steelers tried to tackle digs on a third in three without hands which is hard. Alan took that playoff field for twenty three yards. And then he got going digs had two catches on plays. Were still defensive. Backs just fell down including a touchdown and now made one great throw against to coverage for a touchdown. Pass to gabriel davis. Cox's arm fires into the renzo caught buffalo touchdown bills. Gabriel davis caught a thirteen yard strike. And a second throw on the run of long pass interference penalty to dos knox. It seemed like the steelers might have figured out the third year quarterback but by the second half it was pretty clear things where the other way around so looking at the steelers now bill. I am curious what exactly has been solved with them because this is a team that went from undefeated not so long ago to losing two in a row now to washington and buffalo so based on what. You've seen these last two weeks. How worried should pittsburgh actually big. There's reasons for legitimate concern here. I mean the defense will the problem at the end of the day they all. The bills scored nineteen points. So i'm not stressed about the defense on the whole he's had some injuries that's going to be a legitimate concern but this is still a very good defense and they are prohibitive favorites still to win the afc north. But i think even before the last two games last two losses there were concerns about this offense. The steelers came into this game ranked thirtieth in rushing offense. Dvr a football outsiders efficiency statistic but roethlisberger was twenty ninth in the league in completion percentage on de passing becoming very erratic deep passer and the stairs basically happened left with an offense but almost exclusively consists of short passes trying to the ball. Out of rothlisberger hands quickly. That's help keep him healthy. Which is great but that offense has one explosive game. Since the start in november and sunday night was not the second we saw the offense struggle in the exact same ways even though they got james conner. They're starting running back back in the lineup. They lost multiple starting offensive linemen to run the seventeen times for forty seven yards. And we're at. The speaker tried to throw deep. He was one of five for nineteen yards with a touchdown and pick now. It's possible the steelers are tired after basically going fourteen weeks without a real by they've had their to buy weeks of course basically taken away due to covert concerns. Remember the one saving grace all year for the steelers. That's they were going. Undefeated was the possibility of getting that week off asks the number one seed in the afc. Now they fall fallen behind the chiefs with bosses in their past two games. The upshot only gives steelers in eight percent. Chance of coming away with the number one seed in the conference talked about last week. That's the only way to get a buy in the playoffs. At this point the stakes happened raised for the steelers. I'm not sure whether they're up to the challenge and it feels like it is only clear that the measuring stick against which all contenders are evaluated has to be kansas city and the chiefs spill. They seem to find themselves in some amount of danger on sunday. Only to escape narrowly against the dolphins and their young quarterback to and tug of lois. Oh after watching. Patrick mahomes ultimately win this game. Thirty three to twenty seven. How did miami put this biggest scare into the now twelve in one chiefs so i will. They did something that nobody has been able to do to the chiefs all season. That's forced takeaways. Patrick mahomes hasn't made any spectacular plays. Maybe this year. Has he did during that. Mvp season his first. Starting your twenty eighteen. But they've been really effective at avoiding. Take ways they haven't had one takeaway in any one given game until the dolphins game against the dolphins homes through to early interceptions to help the dolphins get out to attend. Nothing lead back to throw my extra fake look and dumped it down. Intercepted ball picked second interception up the day of patrick mahomes and while the chiefs runoff thirty consecutive points to go ahead. The dolphins strip mccall hardin inside the red zone to stop possession the second half and then saving howard picked off mahomes in the end zone for kansas city's fourth turnover of the game. Now i don't know if that's a sustainable formula for opposing team's doing from one turnover as a maximum to four. But they were able to get back into the game and the chiefs a genuine battle by forcing those takeaways from an offense. That just hasn't done that. Really aussies
