But so motorists ignore the calls for caution and drive through the floodwaters anyway. Chevrolets James Bell says the best idea is to turn around. If you see a barricade, it's there for a reason. Don't drive around it. It's hard to tell how deep the water flooded Street really is. The average vehicle could have swept away in his little 12 inches of water, and that includes pickups and SUVs. Over half of all flooded related drownings happen when a vehicle is driven into hazardous floodwater. These types of deaths are preventable. Drivers need to know that flooded roads can collapse underneath them. Or they could be swept away by a strong current after exiting a vehicle if that happens, I was traveling downstream contract or even crush you. And what if you must drive driving through flooded areas is a bad idea. But if you have no choice, estimate the depth of the water based on the car's driving ahead of you and go too slow in.

"Point they all outgrow the free stuff. So you get a financial advisor, and they all pretty much charge 1%. They charge a little more. If you have less money, they charge a little less if you have more money, but pretty much 1%. 1% is a huge amount of money. But how much money would you lose if you were doing it on your own? Now? Vanguard did a study about this. And they came up with this idea that something called advisor Alfa. And what they found is is that people who invest in Vanguard funds consistently underperformed the vanguard funds. If the fund is returning 10% they're returning 7%. They're under performing by about 3%. And what they found is that when somebody has help when they have an advisor, their performance increases by about 3% they call advisor Alfa So if you're paying 1% before a financial advisor and you're getting 3% in extra performance, it's worth it. In my experience, the people who have done the best are people who paid lots of fees. They bought and hold. They didn't trade stuff around and they got rich. There is no worse feeling than being in the middle of a market crash, and it's just you in the computer and nobody else. I'm Jared Gillian, this is the Jared Jillian show. Jared Gillian show. "Failure to effectively regulate these products Congress needs to act now before it's too late I'm reading in reporting and we'll talk about that in the first portion of the program tonight with our guest trial attorney James bell who is online by the way at James bell PC dot com good evening. hello five thank you glad to have you with us this evening I'm wondering the extent to which of those seventeen deaths how many were the deaths of of people who were using vaping products as they were supposed to be used. your question may know nobody knows that that's a question that only the victims themselves without but but it is the quite a startling nexus between yeah that made that suits and the use of all. it is as certainly although given the the sudden increase in the the prevalence of vaping as an activity I've heard that the number of substances are are being used sometimes including THC and who does what all of which were never intended to be used and I certainly don't plan to go on a on a diatribe of of of see the vaping is wonderful although I'd I would note that it is a double edged sword as I understand it but if for example if we had a sudden rash of let's say people who were involved in the driving and drinking patella days or even shooting and drinking pathologies I would certainly be concerned but I would be I'd be more concerned about the alcohol part that I what about the automobiles or the guns and I'm just curious about that just it to put this in in proper context every these people were doing things that that it is either illegal and or that is not recommended that you you do when using E. cigarettes so and I gather that you don't have that information. we are there to graduate great you bring up a break point at the end of the day away. and and find out whether or not there are any similarities and ties between the different types of deaths I'm John I'm glass that's done you're gonna have a causation issue what what is related because that that that's really the threshold question. which leads to a again that this is an area which I think for most of us who have never vape than that I only know one person that that I know who favors it is an area that I think most of us are not that familiar with unless you've actually done it even then you may be more familiar with only from your own point of view I for example know how addictive nicotine is the no question about I'd probably quit dozens of times and with the time I finally quit for good then this is cigarettes not vaping but I would six weeks thinking about smoking a cigarette every fifteen minutes on the other hand I used to to drink more than I should when I stop drinking heavily of that was it cold Turkey no sweat never never had a single desire to I'm not addicted to alcohol but to this day I will not smoke a friend's baby cigar because I know I'll be right back to two packs of Marlboros a day so I I understand that. for young people this may well be a gateway for adults I know more than a few adults who say at least another one this is what keeps them off of of cigarettes and and let's face it nicotine is not good for you but anything that the I would suppose of that that cuts back on the amount of cars and other carcinogens that you jam into your lives would be I would argue a step in the right direction now is it worth it are we leading more kids down this road I don't know you you tell me and then we'll find out more I guess about about the extent to which your your trial practice involves such cases. all again you bring up a break point I was a smoker twenty years as well. Lee exactly baking came out probably seven eight years ago one of the first people that it got on the bandwagon about how. you facially burning water it's it's making out all of the carcinogens in the toxic substances that you otherwise bond while smoking a cigarette that was the way in which it was advertised and that rather than than lighting up the burning all these different chemicals in the camp because getting your launch your basically earning Lauder and and the chemicals in the toxins and carcinogens are getting in your body I remember that seven or eight years ago since I'm obviously I've I've quit smoking. from a legal perspective I think that the question is whether or not the banking industry has engaged in deceptive trade practice. and by that I mean. is there a cure for smoking is that at bay bridge to help folks get off to get away from smoking cigarettes or and or is it for students walking and it's an interesting question I I was meeting with the doctor yesterday about this particular subject a medical doctor and it was looking into that that smoking was ten times worse than bait. yeah the jury is still out on that be that as it may still it still comes down to. back when you have the the cigarette litigation it it will all be around whether or not. check the manufacture's engaged in deceptive trade practices in a way in which they sold that include minors yeah. and again I from what I've seen of of the of the advertising mostly in stories I might add about this I don't think I've ever actually seen an ad out there eighty where the that was aimed at the at the end vaping I just seen news stories of which the ads were sometimes shown but but they do seem to be a the young people to me I mean I was never one for example bought into the notion the Joe camel was aimed at kids course he was. yeah yeah. Bob obscene yeah and if you look at some of the different problem down play rainbow flavor watermelon flavor you know for the kid it's just a lot of the morning if you're cool thing for them all you do and especially if they promoted as being safe which they have they don't disclose the fact that they're burning propylene glycol formaldehyde you have these other dangerous chemicals longlisted chemicals and from that perspective. Paul it is a very toxic all what is your burning you're using a battery then in turn help clean guy well I call all the chemicals. can't possibly hurt for your alarms agreed absolutely you may argue it is relatively better that inhaling the smoke but that's about all it's better than. that would be to that I think that would be a fair sized. let's take a call at two one eight six six five oh Jimbo one eight six six five oh five four six two six four attorney James bell from most Sean driving across Missouri tonight good evening shot. right thank you your vote I don't promote smoking in any matter whether be tobacco products or the or the new we'd be paying cigarette but bike might question concerned today with the one is your gas burning bell is the associated with the tobacco lobby in any manner and also is this new cycle overstating because obviously the tobacco lobby would be losing. tons of money by by the easy product by their by not buying the tobacco products is there a lobby push out there that that is causing us to cycle the that eat the cigarettes are obviously how are what I know they are the popcorn long and other things the the chronic the stability of the the thing on your long all those football art all the cigarette brand thank but it will not not quite the same things there were still a more Johnny again. I mean we're talking about about the lesser of two evils as far as I've heard from from medical authorities and raping you I don't think anybody would call it good for you it's not as bad as smoking cigarettes right. twenty years to die some of these kids going unspoken procured for years and getting the product out of. now but yeah and the question Markel any any way associated with the tobacco lobby exactly who will get to your questions and again I would like to know a lot more about what these kids were vaping before I I went down that road but to the question that directly James bell you're a trial attorney and are you in any way connected with the tobacco or any other lobby. absolutely not. okay that answers that question in terms of well I did drugs of the clock on the wall I suppose we'll treat could break we'll come back with some more calls for our guests James bell I would just add one notices the Jim Bohannon speaking here there was absolutely one reason and one reason only why cigarettes are legal anywhere and that is because they are so insidiously addictive that to prohibit them would bring back something akin to what happened when we prohibited alcohol in the nineteen twenties one eight six six five oh Jimbo and we'll be back in just a moment..

"The east cigarette business. lately after a rash of mysterious deaths eight that so far the FDA announced it was conducting a criminal. investigation into vaping and beeping deaths and exactly why all of those are coming to pass it seems to me that the. most popular product on the market jul is at the center of all of this and at the center of all of this is a lot of unknowns. because so there doesn't seem to be anyone that can take can tell us right now that vaping leads to. what. there doesn't seem to be any research and it it might also drag with it if there is any litigation it could also drive with us the cannabis industry. into any kind of potential any any potential Conover court action it's a it's an industry that really and truly is in its infancy and certainly in its infancy it is in the middle of controversy James bell is an attorney he's won a lot of big time cases in his time. "Here's my question. Okay. Dealers talk with some degree education about how to protect these computerized card some outside person override the computer system because it's different has all these features. But is so computerized this should be some protections in here. The mighty being able to compromise see the function of your car. Well, I will find see if I can somebody who can speak to that sales people over here near me. But also, I can find somebody to speak to it. But I will tell you this from the information that I've been following his pretty heavily because a couple of years ago, but a year ago this these two guys actually did a test. It was a it was a controlled test. But they actually took a device a computer road down a highway to another Buick. I can remember what the make wasn't. It wasn't a key role next to another vehicle, and they did actually. Linke into the braking system and the sneering of their vehicle, and they were able to make some adjustments and changing things now the driver into vehicles able to override it. But they're they're it's out there. I don't know that we'll ever be completely away from that. You look at stuff like these. A credit provider who was it equifax who had their whole system taken over by some hackers. You had the city of Atlanta had their computer system taken over by hackers. So I think that threat will probably always be there. And the beauty of somebody's vehicles. You don't have to get out of technology. You can out of it. I will say this having tested about fifty two cars every year when the last five years, I'm not afraid of it doesn't bother me. I don't I don't feel like somebody's gonna take over the vehicle. I don't think it's that many people out here who are looking to do us that harm. I guess outside chance of it remains nonetheless, I don't I don't pick out because many people trying to do it either. But at some point. Long time ago. Somebody decided we need to we need to start building may factor is steel belted tires, but if we could get these tires aren't so easy to puncture. And then at some point somebody said some other things about things that just came into system. You know, there's some other functions that we should put it in the car to protect from somebody on the outside doing this such as being able to just walk in your car. So he put into your on the problem should the ABA conversations about this. To know it exists if somebody could pull up to your car, slow it down without your consent. Consumers should be able to ask that dealership in may factor. What can you do to protect me from that? Is in alert system. They could be put in place for me to override them override me. You follow me? Yeah. And I'll tell you this. You know, the answer to that question is no no dealership can tell you how to do that. And then. Aware it should start becoming part of our conversation. Not nap to accommodate some paranoid person is much to just say, look, we're not just putting this stuff in here for your for your general protection. We wanna put some additional things or at least tell you how to make your overall protection because I would say if you're a consumer you want everything to comes on their car, you should be able to get everything that comes on their car feel confident that it's going to function unless you don't want it to function. You follow me when I was I was saying two thousand nineteen I feel confident that they're going to work the way they're supposed to work. And but you're right. I mean, maybe they should get started. I wish you had asked that question when I had James bell on because I would like to have gotten his point of view of what what key stance on it is. But I'll tell you this. There is no automaker out there who could tell any of us at this point that they have a completely wanted. Two percent heck proof security system on there for cyber security. And I think there is any sales person who could tell us that we have that. And I guess the good news in all that is no matter what brand you're buying that risk is out there and the only way to get away from it is to keep buying someone older cars without the technology on it. But I will say the safety the security the convenience, but especially the safety that this new technology has I think for my sanity the Woody provides in Sapien security overrides to me the threat of somebody hacking, a vehicle I mean when I think about me, I'm completely with my kids in the second row. And I know when I go to park, and they get excited I want to jump out because we're at ice cream place that door is not gonna open only at twenty twenty tell you ride because the system hang on let it open until the threat has that kind of stuff to me far outweighs the cyber threat that's out there. But you make a really good point. And I'm going to retire the James bail at a key and see what he says I'm gonna be talking about people that. Of the other automakers and see if there's anything that they know they have already in place that that covers it, you know, one of the brands out there. Tesla actually send updates for their vehicles via the internet. They have wireless transmission. And so whenever they come up with an update for any technology in their cars, they send directly to the cars have to do anything. So I guess like you singing what a tesla if tesla consents on the directly to their car, what will prevent somebody else from sending something directly to their car. So you bring up a very valid point. Right. And and I repeat I'm gonna say this the exit now my kitchen fee. The thoughts of the paranoid individual. It's just feed the desire of the consumer as much as educated as possible as what they have when he purchased his car, and what they can do in order to make you function. Always at their will. That's all. Computer? Okay point. We'll take appreciate you. As always you always make me think man, you can make my head hurt. Like it broadcasts, man. Thank you very much. I'll get next week. You know, the answer that question is no no dealership can tell you how to do. They wear. Should start coming part of our conversation. Not to accommodate paranoid person is much. Just say, look, we're not just putting this stuff in here. Your your your general protection, we want to put some additional things or at least tell you how to make your overall protection because I would say if you're a consumer, and you want everything that comes on their car, you should be able to get everything that comes on their cars feel confident that it's going to function unless you don't want it to function. You follow me when I was I was saying in two thousand nineteen I feel confident that they're going to work the way they're supposed to work. And but you're right. I mean, maybe they should get started. I wish you had asked that question when I had James bell long because I would like to have gotten his point of view of what key is stance on it is. But I'll tell you this. There is no automaker out there who could tell any of us at this point that they have a completely one hundred. Heck proof. Security system on their spread for cyber security. And don't think there's any sales person anywhere who could tell us that we have that. And I guess the good news in all that is no matter what brand you're buying that risk is out there and the only way to get away from it is to keep buying from an older car technology on it. But I will say the safety the security the convenience, but especially the safety that this new technology has I think from my sanity the new Woody provides in Sapien security overrides to me the threat of somebody hacking, a vehicle I mean. I'm completely with my kids in the second row. And I know when I go to park, and they get excited I wanna jump out because we're at ice cream play that door is not gonna open on at twenty two hundred tell you because the system hang on let it open until the threat passes that kind of stuff to me far outweighs the cyber threat that's out there. But you make a really good point. And I'm going to reach out the James bail at a key. And see what he says, I'm gonna read thousand people that some of the other automakers and see if there's anything that they know they have already in place that that covers it, you know, one of the brands out there. Tesla actually send updates for their vehicles via the internet. They have wireless transmission. And so whenever they come up with an update their technology in their cars, they send it directly to the cars do anything. So I guess like you're singing what a tests if tesla consents on the directly to that car. What would prevent somebody else from sending something directly to their car? So you bring up a very valid point right in. And I repeat I'm going say this exit now my. The thoughts of the paranoid individual. It's defeat the desire of the consumer is much as educated as possible as what they have when he purchased his car, and what they can do in order to make you function. Always at their will. Just like in your computer? Okay point. We'll take appreciate you. As always you always make me think man, you can make my head hurt. Broadcasting man. Thank you very much some all I'll get her next week. So you can call back to you can come back to the studio and see if she's the drinking a lot. See what see watching on on a computer? Komo is quietly cut you out right now. Niko callback here. I thought. All right. Appreciate anybody else. We only got about ten more minutes airtime, you've got questions comments anything. You wanna know him trying to find a salesperson somebody's questions force four four eight nine two two seven zero three of the number. We are we are up here.

"James bell director of communications for kia we're talking about the stinger this is the gt vehicle that has been highly anticipated and a number of journalists have had a chance to drive it and and the reaction has been nothing but positive tell us a little bit about transmission choices james we didn't cover that well that's an easy part to cover because they're just one when one system well it's one transmission but then you can access to two different ways in the four cylinder and lower trim level gt's with the twin turbo model let me try that again the gt's and the four cylinders they're available is a a cable mounted transmission eight speed gearbox not sequential or anything like that the standard automatic transmission but really lightning quick shifts and then on the top line gt to model you have electron shifter to access that same transmission and you know someone's day wow it's so great to get a manual gearbox promoter that so flexible and powerful but the world has moved on and we're not going to do a manual gearbox because you know when you see porsches and ferraris and lamborghinis all stepping away from it you know the technology exists to make an all wheel sorry automatic transmission do all the magic that you need it's so true james even the vehicle manufacturers like you noted you know folks that don't care if they're building a million dollar car they can do whatever they want and more or is going to the the automated manual some people call them but i'm a big fan and and it seems like american seemed to be drifting towards the more and more.

"Who was jones james james bell or sane it he he was the one who said if they if you build it they will come and now it says if you build it he will come now that's what my i occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside of this world and yet i ask you is not an alien force already among us i know dramatic and he was always interested in et's i i know his son michael and he he he said his father was always interested in extra terrestrial and i certainly believe war he knew more than he was certainly willing to talk about or able to talk about and add so that it took me right back there and i thought okay well if in fact there was such a force and perhaps it is the devil and his minions that are you know the devil's always in the details and and so if that's the case well this would be how you would take the people over you would divide and conquer so for instance i have been talking about this now for probably year and some people george they're shocked they're astonished they see it for themselves and they say well well i can't believe this is happening and it's real other people have called me an agent for the devil somebody that is trying to twist the minds of people to try and plant the seeds of fear in their minds and all this stuff and it's really sad and unfortunate that those types of people think that way and god bless them and i pray to god will open their eyes to the truth because i am a truth seeker i seek the truth so i know the truth so i could speak the truth so i could teach the truth not an agent of the devil that i never i i would you know take my own self out before it would happen in that way so i mean i am purely an agent for god it's truly bizarre though because if if if those quotes that you're saying are the new ones i mean i mean unless you in i am going batty we remember what what was said.
