"Not going to go there. Rick but she just went the. Go you need to go I'm ready I got running shoes. Alvarez British dying. To You I. Give it to you. This way Michael Jordan is a Cobra. And Lebron James is the BOA constrictor. Michael Jordan is GONNA strike. Perfect finals, and you're GonNa just have like unblemished success, but you. Lebron that BOA constrictor. WHO's touching every stat line that she all around is go take. His time to circle is prey. Is GonNa. Take his time to to pull you in, but it's going to be the same fate brother whether you struck me like Jordan or you just take the time to suffocate me to come to the. A who you are, this argument reminds me and every time we were in the locker room. Talk about who's the greatest running back of all time. And I was like. Are we really going to have this conversation is Barry Sanders, but then all you would hear because sports fans are prisoners of when they were impressionable, those younger years when you were still buying sneakers and listening to music before you can go out and try and break curfew those years so when I say Barry Sanders I kept here Jim Brown because of folklore and him playing against those little tiny liming out there and I would hear Emmett. Smith because Smith had the three rinks brother. I don't WanNa get into a folklore, conversation or championship deficit conversation because that conversation had fourteen accomplishment not into vigils. We asked me WHO's the greatest. Running back is Barry Sanders. We asked me who's the greatest basketball players. Is Michael. James Lebron. I'm not sure. Davis listed is making a I start in New Orleans, but he's also making some pretty outlandish statements. We'll tell you what to make them. Welcome back to speak for yourself from the crib presented by Andre, Marcel while he joined once again by the bar errands. It heals spikes. Let's move to New Orleans off. We're Jameis. Winston is trying to start over after a disappointing run in Tampa, performer top hick may not have lived up to expectations, but he's still got plenty of confidence in himself. Maybe a little too much competent, some say in a new profile and bleacher report. James didn't hold back. Explain it well. I know what I'm worth. And I know day in and day out without publicly coming in saying that historically I'm one of the best quarterbacks to play the game. To Kill? You like this confidence James. Set aside. Do not like this Cup I, don't. I don't I don't like this statement. I love this statement and this is the reason why. You look at what he was able to do. Last year he knew he was not going to be based at all and when he was able to put up numbers the eight month in NFL history when it comes to passing in a single season and like I want to talk about this, and this is something that people really sleep on. He talked about starting earlier this offseason. Changing his diet, which he turned into a beating. Also lost seventeen pounds. Also take it another step. And when he got lake surgery so now, is he the first quarterback timbre? Do that took off season change probably not, but my point is that them saying is that it takes a certain mindset to be able to adapt that type of theory. You have to have that mindset to be able to make everybody who's looking at the outside. Look it in say. Nothing matters to this young man, because only the only thing that he wants to do is to play football, and that's what I see. That's what I hear by him. Be In new, Orleans especially up on the drew brees to really be able to see okay down. Why could see why I took chances? And why should not chances so I love what me and I'm sure? Every teammate on the saints love is addition. would be on this one. Listen I I feel like his I felt like his resume does enough talking for him. It speaks for our. You're talking about a national champion winner and in College, the Heisman Trophy winner in college, a number one overall draft pick in the national football. and has thrown for crazy numbers in the league, and some will say all crazy numbers of interceptions for some strange reason I guess. Maybe it's the crab legs or something that has happened with with James Winston Eaton, Eaton, WS, or whatever I listen, but we started to act as though James Winston is not someone we should take seriously. It's almost like he's the running punchline of a joke. You say Jameis Winston and Let's start laughing about it like I. Don't get that I. Don't get why it turned into that, so I like James Winstons Flex right now. I'm Affleck's saw how many of these starting quarterback in the national football league had the resume that James. Winston has good dude that starting in front of him as a first ballot hall of Famer no doubt, but doesn't. Doesn't have the oil historical resume that James wants then does so listen I, understand where he's coming from, and sometimes the best thing for somebody to do is to look in the mirror, and remind themselves of who they really are could be the major difference and deciding point for James going to New Orleans and.
Fresh update on "jameis winston" discussed on Nightcap with Ryan Gates
"Week. Lost to the Patriots and weak ones. They've played two of their hardest games already. And we'll see what they end up beings. That roster has improved, and they kind of proved it last week, pushing the bills making Josh Alan really beat them. Is what they did so dolphins and Jaguars about an hour away two of the swaggy ist quarterbacks in the league, Ryan Fitzpatrick and his beard against Gardner Menchu in his mustache. Got to go Beard over the mustache Fits made the point earlier this week when asked about men choose mustache is the mustache is for those with the patchy sides. Those who grow moustache is can't grow. Beards essentially is what Fitzpatrick was leading into. And as someone that Khun grow a beard. I'm not going to dispute it. I I could never see myself having a mustache. Like for real as a joke, Maybe, like for one or two nights there like I don't know. You got a big hockey game Beer League hockey game going on. Everybody wants the wearer must ashes or something for Halloween like I could see doing that. But doing it full time now. But it's kind of the persona of gardener Menchu. I love gardening meant you. He is fun. He is. Crazy off the field. He's good on the field. And I don't really see an end in sight for this guy. He has been good. He's been accurate. He is mobile. He passed. The numbers are good. He passes my eye test. Now he doesn't have the strongest arm in the world to make all the throws and then might limit him. Toe having a ceiling similar to that of Derek Carr. That Andy Dalton like one of those middle tier quarterbacks in the league. But He's got that swagger in that confidence that fits does And the reason I think he might be better than fits. Is I kind of like his physical tools of are roughly the same, but Fitz could get careless with the football lot of interceptions in Menchu does not really turn the ball over. So If he gave me Ryan Fitzpatrick for his career without turnovers. That's a pretty good quarterback. Now. Maybe he could be better than that. I don't know. Well, how high you ceiling is I don't think it's good enough to where the Jaguar is built around him, but he's curious. We don't really know. We don't know how good yet. And this season is kind of his trial. There is nobody there to be benched for him to be benched for. Jake Lewton 1/6 Round Rookie is the backup Mike Glennon is also there and that's it. He's not getting benched for one of those two, so the Jaguars might be tanking, but at the same time they're tanking. They might be trying to figure out what they've got in men Xuan whether he's good enough for them to not draft a quarterback next season. I just can't imagine that's gonna happen. Because one thing that's starting to happen in the league that I that I'm noticing is There are all of these guys who are starting caliber quarterbacks. That didn't get jobs this past offseason. Jamis Winston is a starting caliber quarterback. Is he a great one? No. 30 interceptions last season, But the guy threw for 5000. Plus yards he threw for 30 touchdowns in the right circumstances. You could really that in a little bit. It's a pretty good quarterback Jameis Winston should have a starting job in the league. Early so he could Andy Dalton. Is capable of that. 10 years ago. I feel like Andy Dalton gets jumped. A pretty good quarterback for a long time. He has all his other. His old team is rebuilding so and they have a position to draft of number one overall pick quarterback Dalton leaves generally, that guy gets a gig. The Dalton settled for a backup job. Winston settled for a backup job, marry Oda. Had a case to be a starting quarterback in the league. Marriott a settled for a backup job. Hey, it took Teddy Bridgewater, who was a first round pick who had done fairly well in Minnesota. Had a terrible injury got back healthy. And it took him three years to find a starting job and the team that gave him a starting job is kind of rebuilding. They're starting over. And The commitment to him was not that of a franchise quarterback. It seemed to be more of a placeholder. So These quarterbacks that are coming into the league. Where? What's the team? That's just got a glaring need. Jacksonville was on that list with Gardner Menchu. But it meant she was good. How many other teams are there? The Jets are probably gonna be picking at the top of the draft. With a new coach. Not in assuming Adam case is fired. With a new coach. I could see that being one Who's got the most volatilities quarterback. Because you look around the league and most teams have got their guy. The bills have their got their guy. No, it's great that we don't have to have this conversation anymore. Well, at least at this point. Evalyn just doesn't fall on his face the loss of the rest of the season. There's nothing to say that's going to happen. Bill's know who their quarterback is. We don't have to discuss whether they should draft one. Patriots. Maybe could be this of Cam Newton left, and Francie. Maybe New England is this long term volatilities quarterback. New England. Maybe at the top The Jets, maybe at the top. The Dolphins are not on that list because the two of you Obviously, the Chiefs know.
Chiefs to release 2-time Pro Bowl P Colquitt after 15 years
"The news in the NFL the saints and quarterback Jameis Winston have officially come to terms on a one year deal for the twenty twenty season the chiefs haven't released longtime punter Dustin Colquitt after spending fifteen years in Kansas city and that the chiefs cornerback Bouchard Breeland was arrested on Tuesday in South Carolina and faces multiple charges us that such as resisting arrest having alcohol in a motor vehicle with a broken seal and driving without a
New Orleans Saints agree to terms with QB Winston on one-year contract
"Yahoo Sports is Charles. Charles Robinson reports at Norrland's is finalizing a one year deal with Winston. The former buck coming off a five thousand one hundred nine yards season thirty plus touchdowns three interceptions and immediately eyebrows. Raised the idea that Winston would stay in the division. Go to the Saints. Backup drew brees. He enters the mix with Tatum Hill. Who IS SUPPOSED TO BE? And maybe still is the heir apparent To breeze so it just leads to a lot of unsolved mysteries in its own right greg your thoughts when you heard the news that Winston may be and quite possibly is headed to the saints I I wasn't shocked because I I what I did. This hashtag setup into your own comet with a big way. Why why you made your Greg sounding you often. I got it. I wasn't gonNA say anything but then mark reacted to it and I can't help myself but go ahead. I did this Saints Twitter Pot. Podcast just knew that way wolf as podcasts. Him into my buddy Adam and they were saying they were hearing. This was going to happen before the draft so they got sources on the inside and and they ended up being proven right and it makes all the sense in the world of your Jameis Winston and makes sense of. You're the saints too. I think you get a chance to get Jameis. Winston in the building for a year probably drew brees his last year. We haven't heard any financial terms the Jameis Winston deal you know was reported on before the Taste Hill extension Came out and the money that was involved. That extension came out. Part of me does wonder. Is this deal for absolute sure does did Winston know about that before he he came determines but either way he? He should do the deal. Because if he can somehow impress Sean Payton or if he can end up getting in the lineup and being as backup like Teddy Bridgewater What better place to possibly learn because damis Winstons still has a lot to learn but he also has a lot of talent a guy that throws for five thousand yards can do things in the NFL and like there's no better place to learn. Other than to undo. Breezy and Sean Payton.
New Orleans Saints to Sign Quarterback Jameis Winston
"Janus Winston yes or no happy about that or not he reportedly close to a deal with the saints for a one year contract to bring the former number one overall pick to New Orleans to be a backup quarterback I've already give you my all my thoughts on a quarterback on on Davis Winston some of you see the way I do some of you don't and that's okay and some of those that believe that he's not the right fit I'll never be able to convince you of that I never will you'll you'll stay firm and that's okay too you'll stay farm even if this is not that not a good decision I think Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis know what they're doing I'm not at all worried about him being a negative influence in the locker room I'm not at all worried about the idea that he's he's just going to be poison not a chance

"If you've you that are still out there. That are not sheltered in place. Thanks everybody else's checking us out through your phone your laptop and streaming the show. We are here for you wherever very glad to be able to do it and talk about some of the things that make us feel a little bit at least like there. There are still some sports out there. Bank guys thank goodness for the NFL and Free Agency and the CAROUSEL THAT. They've been on because that is the one thing that does feel pretty normal. At this point that football players are moving around a little bit. Yeah they are moving around going all over the place different teams different uniforms different towns you know new environments all those are things that crazy thing about it is they won't probably get to enjoy those New Environments and in in sceneries at all those things until summertime comes around at is probably the earliest the NFL teams will get back with their players in even when that happens. It'll be interesting to see how fast they can get up to speed on teaching everybody everything in it and I think when you look at it a lot of people were you know a little concerned about the NFL continuing business as usual when everything shut down any other sports but the NFL had wasn't playing games they were Kinda. Just you know doing everything from a paper. Standpoint valuations trying to figure out what they should do in terms of contracts and deals. It was good thing in my opinion that the NFL went forward because it it gave people something to look forward to. If you took that away imagine had they took the drama of the Brady to the buccaneers away. They've taken that away. If they've taken the drama of Todd Gurley being cut in released in signing with Atlanta. We will be sitting here pulling our hair out till summertime waiting to just get some football action key. Do you think that the team's bid or less active in free agency leads to active in changing their roster? Will they have an advantage? Assuming that this thing lasts like we think it might well into the summer and ot as or affected maybe training camp is shortened in maybe All the things that coaches used to get their new players on the same page or continue to to work with the guys that they have with the systems that they haven't placed if I've got a team and I'm just making a numbers here but if I only have five guys and you've got twenty new guys. Do I have an advantage? I think you do a continuity and is important. That's why coaches have gone out and signed quarterbacks that they've had familiarity with L Z because they don't have to teach anybody anything they just. You know it's like okay. He knows the system. No problem drew brees. Going back to the New Orleans. Saints is a plus Michael Jenkins going back to the New Orleans. Saints isn't plus because those calls and those things that they're asking you to do is going to be repetitive. They'll be able to just go. Bam in fall right in the line. Where guys that are going back to situate or going to situations where there's unknown. They have to wait to the summertime before they actually can get going. There may be able to get the play book and look at some stuff as far as playbook goals but actually out on the field. This is the New England patriots. Wanted Brian Hoyer because Brian. Hurry up. Two other times. It's makes his third. Stop that offense. A system is not changed no matter where he's being he'll get in their summer. It'll take them a couple of weeks and it'll be like old habits again. The only reason why Kishangarh that I brought up those they knew he's doing this couldn't resist clapback. Be because you try to put things out of context my point being that if Jameis Winston was view universally as a very good quarterback and he's only twenty five years old. He would've gotten a job over guys. Who more familiar with the system? Because he would have just been better quarterback he wouldn't have been he would have say with enough Tampa that's my Wayne Tampa and that just simply about is not just simply about being familiar with the system is also. They look at Jameis Winston as not being a viable option period. No friends if he was a quarterback if it was if it was Aaron Rodgers if he was Arab. There's not a team that would have said. Yeah he don't notice system. No they would have gone after Aaron Rodgers. Because he's just a good quarterback Aaron Rodgers it wouldn't have thrown thirty sanctions and stole crab legs either so a lot of a lot of that has to do with why certain teams have passed on the the New England Patriots Ryan Hor. He's been in their system. There is no off-season to teach these new quarterbacks. There's no offseason for that. Nick foles has been Matt Nagy System. They don't have the time to get him in the summertime and try to teach him. They don't WanNa do that. That's just not what they WANNA do what. Let's go back to being a west coast system very similar to John. Grooten system. Go go go to the rams forsake. Do you think this played into the decision with todd. Gurley and all that because Todd Gurley was such an important part of what they did offensively and what they I would imagine. They want to continue to do. Offensively is to throw the ball to the guy coming out of tobacco that was an incredibly useful weapon for the rams. You think the fact that because we're in the situation that we're in where there's going to be some limited time to implement new guys in the new systems that that was an all part of the calculus in an exciting whether or not the cut. Todd Gurley north. They are they. I think it was a money. I think it was money and I think that there was a little bit. Concern is healthy and that health led to a rift and I think at the end of the day they felt better to just part ways with them rather than try to hold onto him. It'll be interesting to see how they try to re integrate that position moving forward but Abbott without a guy and Todd Gurley who goes to Atlanta that runs a zone scheme running scheme much like the rams the so right you he plugs right in into that without them trying to teach him all of the different things so with that mind. Let's go back to the chargers here. Tyrod Taylor as their number one quarterback right now. Cam Newton is going to be available Jameis. Winston is available because Anthony. Lynn has familiarity with tyrod. Taylor does that. Kinda give him the inside track or if you're looking at it and when cam becomes available to see know Cam Newton's better quarterback than tyrod Taylor a vacuum but with all the other things going around familiarity short and time scheduled this tyrod Taylor look better to you because of the situation. We're in as opposed to a guy like I can't no I wouldn't say that if it cameras healthy because you take a chance on a guy like that. If he's healthy you get him up to speed as much as you can and then you just. He's on the fly learning. I mean that's a talented quarterback when healthy. I mean you you you don't say we'll tyrod. Taylor knows the system better than camp so therefore we just roll with tyrod Taylor now if you rolling witting is probably because you're going to take a young quarterback in the draft. That's the only reason I would say that you would go with him now. In terms of tyrod Taylor Jameis Winston. I'd rather have tyrod Taylor in the system. Then have James Because I gotta teach him how to do so much in limited in thirty interceptions. Then I won't have the time for the thirty for thirty. You brought it up a minute ago and you said that James with crab legs thing and we we know that he has a low uber rating Things like this that this is part of why he's still looking for work. Or is it exclusively the fact that he has not performed at the level that you would want your star? Do you think is nonsense? Things are still part of his story. Because when I look at Jimmy Winston until you br I mean obviously remembered that kind of stuff but my my version to Jameis Winston. The quarterback is that he throws picks not that he steals crab legs where I would think that I would look at it. That's more of A. That's more of a joke upon just to have some fun with it. Are they get? I think it has something to do with his ability but it also has something to do. Where does he fit like with to fit like you want to sign him to take? Whose position like like who spot like. Do you want to sign him in Denver? Do you want to sign him in Miami? I don't want to sign him in Miami because I'm looking to draft a guy and I got a bridge guy and fitzy so it's like where does he fit. Well he could be a backup. Okay how much money do you want? Do you want to go back air? Rogers do you want to do you? WanNa you WANNA back air rises for the next three years. Do you want to pull the Teddy Bridgewater? Do you WanNa find a team like a New York jets. Were Sam Darnold is in and out of the lineup is. Do you want to find that type of teen where you now get an opportunity because the boo birds out or guy is hurt that this is how Ryan Tannehill was able to maximize. This is how Teddy Bridgewater was able to maximize turning into a sixty million dollar payday for him by going and sitting behind drew brees and then coming in five games and going five. Everybody going okay. You an estimate that that we can. We can do something with that. The so you gotta try to find that spot. If you Jameis Winston you need to find the spot that makes a whole lot of sense for you to get back on the field. Can you go to a team like the Jacksonville Jaguars? Even though they think that men shoes the answer do you go there. It play a backup role to him and all of a sudden he starts to struggle. They insert you in the lineup. Y'All GonNa nine game tear. What do you think of? Melvin Gordon deciding to go to Denver. This was a guy that when you're looking at Todd Gurley going to Atlanta like okay. There's an opening the backfield in L. A. Melvin Gordon is unhappy in in in the chargers organization and very quickly he goes to. Denver and Denver does not feel like a team. That's close to do a whole heck of a you surprised. Though there. I was a little surprised but I think it's I think he'd probably did that with a little bit of emotional. I'M GONNA get back at you twice a year. You're GonNa see me in quite frankly. The money had dried up for the running back position. So Melvin Garner make you know seven million dollars a year now or whatever. That number is seven half my seven and a half million dollars. A year opposed to the ten that the charges were offering. Do you think that you know this idea that he's going to face his old team twice a year is just GonNa Backfire or are you excited to see his match up? You know like the way the idea that if a brady has signed with the chargers they would've faced the Patriots. And you want to see that matchup is it enough of drought. And you just curious to see what he's GonNa do against his old team because he's not that big of a back I mean he's just he's just a guy now see tiger early against the rams would make me go. Ooh But to to see Melvin Garden against the chargers. It's like well. Okay he he. He got the best of them. He didn't get the best of them. Mataya girly tiger. Elise is interesting because Todd Gurley a former offers a player to ear pro all pro guy could have been an MVP big money. I forty five million guarantees sixty million dollars in two thousand eighteen. And now he got put on the streets. Picked up by the Falcons. Now you say well. I can't wait to the rams play Atlanta we. It's funny girly in particular because girly is almost things that you just described key. But I haven't seen girly last season in your. This is GonNa give you another opportunity to say Travis. I told you so. You have to listen to me when it comes to things about football. I think there's a real chance that Todd Gurley is. I don't want to say dumb because he's not done but the days of Todd Gurley being what you just described and what we saw two years ago there in that those are just in the rear view mirror and the tug early is not going to strike the fear of God and yet he comes back to play against the rams at some point..
NFL free agency goes on amid Coronavirus
"For you and there's still a ton of NFL news to pass along because that offseason my goodness that's been well in the swing past the week or so Kansas city defending champ sign former giants offensive lineman Mike Remmers among the free agents still available league wide Jameis Winston G. Davey and cloudy there was an S. I. report that there's an offer to cloudy on the table from Seattle currently though teams are unable to bring free agents into their facilities for a physical and team doctors cannot be sent to
Jameis Winston says farewell to Bucs
"Quarterback Jameis Winston who spent his first five seasons with the Buccaneers took to Instagram and Twitter to bid farewell to Tampa Bay Winston is a free agent who hasn't signed with a team yet where's the Buccaneers have moved on from the former number one pick when they signed
Tom Brady & the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
"While the suspense is over. We now know that Tom. Brady's me going to Tampa. Bay buccaneers thirty million dollars per season. Which was what Michael Lombardi had predicted? It was going to take to sign Brady. Twenty Seasons forty-one Playoff Games thirty playoff wins tour in one thousand nine regular season. Wins SIX SUPER BOWLS. Three League? Mvp's seventy four. Thousand five hundred. Seventy one passing yards and five. Hundred and forty-one touchdown passes Tom Brady is leaving New England. Mike. Quite a resumes. Put up the greatest player and NFL history and the box have not had a pro bowl quarterback since two thousand fifteen when James Winston was a rookie and look at the town he's got now Evans and Godwin OJ Howard. And so on you. And I were thinking charges. But you'd said charges or bucks and Tampa Bay now that we know it makes a lot of sense because the offensive weapons and as you would sit yesterday's pod and of course you can check it all the GM shovels. We talked with Tom. Brady and detail. The key is that Bruce. Arians is willing to adjust his offense four. Tom Brady yeah no doubt I mean first of all I think in talking to some people yesterday proximity to New York was really important to like. He wanted to be able to get on an airplane. Fly Back to a you know whether he buys a home in Greenwich or somewhere. After a game on Sunday fly back spent a couple of days his family come back to Tampa and do that so that was important. Easy flight turnaround so that was there and look. This is just a tremendously great. Human being I mean Brady literally face timed most of the people that he worked with at the Patriots yesterday. Obviously being safe from People Xinhau and not could he could see anybody facetime and thanked him. I mean you're talking about one of the great human beings and it didn't work out a New England for a lot of different reasons but I think now. Tom Gets to become a little bit like manning he gets to be able to go down to Tampa he can run his offense however he can put the offense and there's just no chance no chance Byron left. Which is telling Tom Brady what he's going to run right. There's just no chance of that. Nor is Bruce Arians. I think we'll definitely see. There's been a lot of reports out there about Antonio Brown. I think we'll definitely see Antonio Brown in a buck uniform. Add more skill and I'm sure they've promised him they're going to rebuild the offensive line. But he's going to have a say. I mean Jason Light. The general manager of the Tampa. Bay buccaneers has just hired an assistant general manager. His name Tom Brady and they're going to do everything in their power to make Brady happy. They've already increased ticket sales on season tickets. It's of fork for them. We'll see if it works out. It's amazing to think Mike. And you know this with your time in New England but the Patriots Way and where guys go Mike. Rebel is traded the chiefs Randy Moss shift to the Vikings. Vince will work with the Texans Adam. Vegetarian a great second career the colts and your window. Now it's going to happen. Tom Brady with Tampa Bay. Like you said Byron left which is oh see. He's Tom Brady tells him and he's got lots of weapons. Right there Evans is probably the best receivers play with since Randy Moss. And now you can see why the line is already jumped at. The box. Went from forty to one odds to twenty to one odds to win the Super Bowl. He gets paid which is important as you would guest thirty million dollars a year. That's what he's GonNa get didn't make sense for economics but here's the key. I think when it comes to Tom Brady is. How much does he have left the tank and for all the Brady fans they would say listen? His receivers couldn't hold onto his passes right. He did not have enough weapons around him. Well now he's got the weapons and if you believe that. Brady's still got some magic left for a couple of seasons with clearly his leadership and his Moxie and his talent and a smart board than anything will lift this team higher to where they go. Jameis Winston. They're seven losses a seven of the nine losses. Last year had eighteen turnovers guy was turnover machine. So theory is as long as it doesn't make those turnovers completes passes gets things done. There's no reason why the box to have very quick turnaround next season. No doubt and I mean look todd. Bowles has done a great job with their defense and they've got more cap room to spend on what they WANNA do. We don't know what the structure of the Brady contract is. But the idea that there wasn't a market for Brady. Obviously there was a huge market for him at thirty million made more than Philip rivers at twenty-five we'll talk about him in a moment but I think for the first time in his life. Tom Brady wanted to be able to go somewhere and kind of do what he wanted to do. You know and to be. I don't WANNA call Patriot like but I mean for the Patriots to spend thirty million on a quarterback and then spend more money in free agency that violates their culture. That violates everything. They believe in and for him to do what he wants to do what she deserves to do at this point in his life. He's earned it to go out and kind of be. I think this is like a great coach. Who finally wants to be able to run his program right. You know. I've been operating in this system but now I want to go into another system and that's how I look at this with Brady's movement I mean he was never going to be able to do what he truly wanted to do in New England. Now he can do it there. He can do it in Tampa and no one's GonNa tell him he can't. I think the concern. You have to have a few of the box. Is You know. Tom Has got to relate to some of these younger players. And that's GonNa be you know. We spent a Lotta time understanding millennials in New England understanding. How he's going to relate to that because there is a huge gap between Tom and these other players. I think getting someone like Antonio Brown in there who tom loves will help them. I know that sounds crazy. But it'll help the other players in the room kind of have a relationship. Can you imagine? Antonio Brown's the great pacify higher. I mean can you imagine that? I'm saying that seriously. They give out that eighty. He's the bridge so if they did that and they improve their offensive line.
From Brady to Carr, ranking Bears' quarterback options in NFL free agency, draft
"Free agency. Starting soon as we mentioned earlier in the show March eighteenth four. Pm teams can actually out signings the signings and the wide receiver classes fascinating Jj. Because I think mostly because it sort of matches up with the draft class. This is a loaded wide receiver draft class studs and studs and studs. Nobody that's like necessary. I I like I tend to think see lamb and Jerry. Judy can be. I don't want to call them like Julio Jones. Aj Green types. Because that I think does a disservice to really any young player coming to the League to to compare them too borderline hall. Julio definitely the hall of fame. Aj Borderline Hall of fame to compare them to that type of player. But there's a great group of guys who look like they can be viable starters in the NFL out of the gate however they will have to compete with teams who resigned teams will have to decide. Do they want to ask somebody like that or do they want to size like? Aj Green should he make free agency? let's go through your top five wide receivers. Who's at number five number? Five number five. I have Randall COBB. Yes sorry I remember number five. I Have Randall. Cobb. Randall COBB. Of course coming off that season with the cowboys really difficult to see how they're going to be able to pay him And so as I was going through this and I thought to myself well thought. Where could he ended up? In fact I didn't think that's about self depot. Ask me where he could end up. I would have to tell you on your and some wanted to tell you that. I'm looking at an Indianapolis Colts a team. That was really struggling to throw the ball down the field last year. Now lot of that adds do of course which cover said. I understand that but I've never really been impressed with the wide receiving group that the colts have of course. They thought that they were going to have a few more options That did not work out with Devon punches. Who dealt with injury for most of the season. So Randall COBB. He's GONNA turn thirty before next season. He's at nine. Nfl seasons he had a eight hundred plus yards last year. I like him. What the colts and whoever their quarterback could be yes so it's interesting the question is would you rather have a guy like rental car bounced back nicely. Who Fits with the perfect slot style of of the modern? Nfl You've got three wide receiver sets etc etc. You can win outside and in some cases might be too old that now he's going to be thirty before the season starts or would you rather dabble in the shod. Perrin and sweepstakes and I might be inclined to agree with you. I like the PERSAD. Payment freaks me out like what? You're really like this Guy Ozzie. Newsome couldn't get this guy right and you're telling me that now like Jameis. Winston fixed him. I don't know if I'm buying it entirely woods. I would run away from shop Perriman. eighty might be fantastic human being but in terms of on the field play. I think that it was a flash in the pan how he sort of came on there in November and December for the bucks Certainly James with the five thousand passing yards sort of inflated his six hundred forty five receiving yards Paran- I just had issues for most of his career and I'm not willing to take a few weeks from last season. He's turned the corner. I kind of tend to agree with you. I wouldn't be opposed to like a one year not too pricey deal with precise payment but I would not want to make some big splash on that guy Given what's out there. It is interesting to this class offers. A lot of slot options like Geronimo. Alison is their Nelson Aguilar. Philip door set You can uh Devin funchess. Maybe didn't make the cut for. Jj surprise there. He's more of a tight end. Not a slot guy But then also demarcus Robinson who was very effective in Kansas City system. I think there's a lot of speed slack is out there so if I were if I were General Manager would probably at the top of the market. Do their own thing. Because I don't want to overpay for top of the market I would then sign a slack. If I got a young quarterback here I would sign a guy for agency at a lower cost and then go out and get by number one in theory in the in the draft. So that's probably why those guys didn't make the top five and I would tend to agree with you. Who's your number four on this list number four Robbie Anderson Levin love and coming off that season with the New York jets My best fit for him is the New York jets Because Gosh they really if they lose him. I don't know what they're gonNA do at the receiver position. They absolutely have to upgrade even by keeping him. They need to upgrade to upgrade that offensive line as well but seven hundred seventy nine receiving yards last season. He'll be twenty seven this upcoming year if enough teams and and if the jets WANNA mess around with this Joe. Douglas wants to mess around with us. He has been In conversations with with Robbie Anderson's representation if some teens get involved here and this is taken care of at the very started illegal tampering window or before. The price could go up on Robbie Anderson because of his age because of his speed because of what he did last season and then you can start approaching. Fourteen fifteen million dollars per year. I think the jets absolutely have to knock this out early and if they mess this up in some way if they decide not to bring him back. I'm looking at a place that he could go to looking at the Philadelphia Eagles who obviously could always use a upgrade. Their I the interesting seeing there may be some overlap there but the eagles need help it wide receiver. But I hope probably Anderson's faculty jets. I kinda liked that idea and I do think. There's a little bit of like say the Shaw Jackson to his game. That's an insult to the Sean Jackson as fast as to Sean Jackson Robbie interesting could be more of a position. He's he's more of a like he's a bigger body type of guy but who also possesses that deep speed. That might be complementary for the other pieces that eagles have so. I don't hate that idea. If I don't know how Roseman takes a deep dive a free. Hd but he's got cast a bird so maybe it happens a May I ask your number three is and then I started to say Emmanuel Sanders is your third wideout. He is my third wide out. And it's really just because age. He's GONNA turn thirty three. Where do I have him? The obviously he's not going to be in San Francisco. I initially till depot the Carolina Panthers and I said the Carolina Panthers because I'm not entirely sure the panthers are convinced. Honesty Smith is not convinced that they have a number one wide receiver they have DJ more. They have Curtis Sam. You hope that. Dj More is going to be that but what they seem to be lacking. Is that fantastic veteran presence in there and after I spent a lot of time will in the month of January with the San Francisco. Forty niners covering their postseason games. What I learned from a depot Samuel from kindred born was just how much manual sanders mentor. Those guys those young group of players coming up and how they were able to really improve their game early in their career after the trade for manual. Sanderson San Francisco did so I look at a team like the Carolina Panthers and I say. Oh those young guys could really benefit from a guy like Emmanuel Sanders however Emmanuel Sanders is kind of like Andrei Dala in in that like he elite should and probably only wants to play for a championship. Contender right. He's been with. The broncos just went to another super bowl and so we're talking about contenders we're talking about teams that need wide receivers. The New England Patriots is. They are trying to retain Tom Brady. That would be fantastic. Get sound radio. Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick said. Hey We got you Emmanuel Sanders and we got you this two or three year contract to finally finish your career in New England. What you say Tommy. Now that's great call. I think if you're the Patriots and this was the delicate line that they have to sort of walk with Tom Brady is. Can you go out into the mark like once we get to that noon at noon? It it's eleven fifty. Nine fifty nine on Monday can the Patriots manage in the span of about Let's see twelve thirty six hours. Thirty brought to us as a forty eight hours. Fifty two hours is probably right in fifty two hours. Can they manage to tamper their way into landing? Somebody like Mandal Sanders. Somebody like Hunter Henry and successfully like a- convinced Tom Brady to return if that's what they ultimately want their plan to be and if it is. I think that could be you know like. That's that's certainly a blueprint to having Tom. Brady back in New England. But I think you're going to have to get guys. Just beef up the receiving core for him if you want him to come back in my opinion all right the last two guys in this list that they're going to be the same for everybody. You could flip them if you want to Depending on your opinion of home and away splits for one guy in age for the other guy number two guy. Aj greed number. One Guy. Maury Cooper I beast I mean these are the first of all. There's a chance either. Guide makes it the free agency or Cooper could get transitioned franchise tag the transition tag depending on the CBA depending on what happens attack. Prescott's contract AJ Green. It does sound like the bengals franchise tag him but he throws a fit and says he's going to refuse to play for him then. Maybe that doesn't happen. What led you to stack these guys in this particular way. Jj Yes so I have AJ green at number two. Only because of agent injury concerns that He has missed something. Like twenty four the past twenty five games that the bengals have played due to injury So that is my issue with him. Amari Cooper last. We saw him was not getting the ball thrown as much his way as should have certainly against the Philadelphia Eagles. I felt that he still has it. Obviously he's young much younger than Aj. Green who I believe is turning thirty two this year. Amari Cooper is currently twenty five. He will be twenty six before the start of the season so If a Jake Reed were healthy he would be my number one with a bullet. No doubt about it on about his health and then So in terms of fits right We believe that. Aj agrees with the bengals eight. We'll extend the franchise tag if they do not then. I think that we can reignite the does job want to go to Cincinnati rumors and so just for the sake of argument. I through the raiders in there as a landing spot for A. J. Green. But of course I'm not putting too much effort into A. J. Green out to one of the thirty one other teams. He's going to Cincinnati. As far as Mark Cooper. I had no idea how the San Francisco Forty niners would do it in terms of contract and money but I have cooper going to the forty niners if he does not end up with the cowboys but again. They're the cowboys to do. Everything they can. To Keep Amari Cooper traded a first round pick for. It made a lot of sense. Not Not immediately when they made the trade form right.

NFL: Sunday Night Football Recap
"Some interesting results pain. Every dog has its day and apparently sports books were able to buy back with their biggest Sunday of the football season thus far yeah tell you didn't capitalize while enough on that not the best. Sunday in it was it was a mess one one of those ones where you go through the car and you're like man I like this. I like this when I like this and they just don't make the cut and left a lot of money on the table and makes two of us. Is You watching coaching. We mentioned some of the bigger results clearly housing you root for the buffalo bills they get to the window at the Detroit lions as well as home underdogs and then of course Sunday night football we see the New Orleans Saints Cover Ver- as modest two to two and a half point underdogs but all that aside pain when you watched all the Games yesterday you went through some of the box scores and everything else as we do Monday mornings the good the bad and the ugly what stood out to you as some of the positive takeaways at least a quarter point of the season. Let's go the guy that constantly gets crapped on Jameis Winston. I thought he was fantastic. Obviously again needs to clean up. The mistakes still had the the massive brain fart late in the game which can happen but I think if you ask Bruce Arians eat like hey if Janus has like one w t.f moment every game. Would you take that I think the answer is probably probably s you know and aside from that one throw again. James was fantastic at the sixth deepest average intended air yards per throw in with that his completion completion percentage with four and a half percent better than expectation. He was accurate. WHO's officiant hit explosive plays your move that one pass and it probably was his best performance says a pro I think and when you look at geniuses performance clearly we know he's been surrounded by weapons. Tampa looks to speak figuring it out as far as they're running back situation relation that performance kind of the tip of the iceberg that we should have some optimism for James over the next twelve games I would think so right and we kind of came into the season and said hey this is is an interesting fit here with James who likes to be aggressive and head coach that likes to be aggressive if they can tone down the turnovers the offense has a real shot here and so when you're looking at this team two and two they blew the giants game missed field goal and I know a lot of the naysayers were saying something to the effect of they didn't trust James late so they ran the ball. Allah meanwhile there's an explosive town fields which to my Gavin's which set him up in the position to kick the game winning field goal so I viewed it a little bit differently early. I thought Tampa was going to be a team. That was going to impress the one team. No one was talking about in the off season right all of these changes at head coach and coordinators gators that were happening throughout the league. This was the one this was probably the biggest acquisition when you can bring in a Bruce Arians when he can add todd bowles to his defense who is the one that wasn't being discussed a lot about and I know in the off season. The win total was set at six. There's a reason it went up to six and a half. There wasn't sharp money but it wasn't talked about because they were still projected. It'd be one of the worst teams in their own division but I really liked what I'm seeing from Tampa right now. The ground games get going especially Ronald Jones the last two weeks as well. That's been a benefit and helped the offense to make a good balance but as long as James doesn't turn it over the scheme the style and the weapons are there for him to be

"Will they franchise him? Will they give an extension that will be a storyline that you'll start hearing about in twenty nineteen here about it in a few days. Here's I is Adam sure sure we'll get asked about I think the answer this. I think it's gonna be a little surprising people, Jamie. Would you take Jared Goff or Jameis Winston? It's a great question right now. I will take. James was. Yeah. That's what I thought you'd say. And people are like. So sorry for startling while you're driving everybody. Let's go to the forty Niners. What do they need? Dave, first and foremost, they need a number one wide receiver with all apologies to the Dante Pettis troopers out there, they need a number one guy, and they seem to be a team that's linked very closely to Antonio Brown. He might be the guy that would be great. That's really the biggest thing that they need. They they're right guards of free agent. Maybe they add another running back just as a back of maybe they draft a guy later, you know in cash, and he'll probably just find somebody that didn't get drafted to come in and play behind. Mckinnon in Breda. That's really about it. They're great at tight end the great quarterback. They've got good second and third type wide receivers. I think they need a number one in. That's it. This team's in pretty good shape. But if they don't get it Tonio Brown where they getting a number one wide receiver. I would I were I would assume that they would try and find somebody that they can develop in the draft. Yeah. But that guy's not going to step in and be a number one as a rookie crappo slight wouldn't be a number one. That'd be very good. I think it'll be interesting. Not just repetitive. But also for Markey's Goodwin. I mean, this was a guy that we liked going into Aseel. I like going into last season, you know, with the thought of what he could be building off of what he did Jimmy Garoppolo the end of the year. And then it was a disaster from the start you couldn't stay healthy and then Garoppolo guard..

"Progressive insurance. And sarah. There's this the Jameis Winston Sega and everything around the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is going to continue to have all eyeballs because it's not just about this year. It's about whatever the team decides it's going to do moving forward. And that that means the coach the coaching staff an end the quarterback all of this comes into question and this up announce season for the bucks was defined in and up and down game on Sunday where they were up by eleven over the saints. And it looked like they were going to be able to do something to the saints unthinkable beat them twice in this year. And then they give up twenty five unanswered points. They lose twenty eight to fourteen and the frustration bubbled over on the sidelines. As the cameras caught. Jameis Winston and center Ryan Jensen going at it on the sidelines and Ryan Jensen leads the team in penalty. So, you know, it's one of those moments where for many quarterbacks you turn around and say all right quarterback holding his guys to a level accountability. Can you do that? When your quarterback that frankly, isn't all that great. Let's start with the Jameis Winston specific example. And then we can pull out to a bigger frame of reference and discuss whether or not quarterbacks always are given this strength or this power in ways that we don't want to assign other players on the team or specifically the reverse, right? Do we allow someone like an offensive lineman t yell at a quarterback for throwing a pick without questioning how that relationship is going a little start with James and just say that while I understand frustration with a guy who is leading the team in penalties. And especially if you believe that those stem from a lack of focus or something like that. To me if you're James Winston, and you've let your team down by being suspended and missing games by being benched repeatedly for terrible play by being completely unpredictable and inconsistent. It is very difficult for me to swallow him criticizing another player in that way. That's not to say that he has to stop altogether. Because I think it's impossible for him to be effective and remove all ideas of leadership for accountability. Right. We need to allow him to do that. If he's going to keep playing and playing in any in any good way. But the way this look to me, and you know, optics is one of those words that some people get sick of hearing. But the optics of this when you're a guy like him who has let your team down so many times in so many ways this year. I I don't think he's earned the ability to do that. Well, Ryan Jensen now has team high hundred yards in penalties this season which would put him a hundred yards. Put some forty yards over the next closest. Person and there's an offense lineman that feels like a lot of penalties for Senate, particularly that feels like a lot of penalties that the real questions about is that focus is that technique is that not being just not not particularly being gifted against the guys you're playing against through a lot of variables here, but to go off on somebody on the sidelines. You have to believe that that's the best leadership method. I think what what makes it difficult for a lot of people. Not just you is that ultimately is hard to see James Winston and think of him in that leadership role. What's difficult for me is I don't want to apply. One thing. One principal differently. The one player than I would the other. And I go back to Sundays example of Derek Carr. Somebody that is particularly likable for most people. He went off on a young wide receiver on Sunday for essentially, not cutting the route off the right way and not reading the defense properly, and he's up in the guys grill and Yellen his arms or flailing and on the broadcast. They said at the time look at that their car leading the team because you got to you expect..

"Tula. What do you have? All right, guys. One thirty two to go here in the third quarter. And the buccaneers on the board again, they are trailing. The giants though by ten twenty four to fourteen Jameis Winston in at quarterback after Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing pick after pick after pick three of them to to be precise. Mike Evans with the three touchdown. Jameis Winston was scrambling to get into the end zone, but fumbled the ball. But Evans recovers in the end zone for the touchdown. Couple of nice plays by Evans and Peyton Barbara as well to get the buccaneers down the field again James Winston inequality back one thirty two to go in the third quarter. But the buccaneers still trail the giants twenty four to fourteen guard. Al thank you very much worth noting in that game. And it's time for straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless. Best phones. Best networks, no contracts field. Will you try to crystallize we sort of touched on a thumbnail sketch of it? But tell us why the buccaneers maybe were hesitant with James Winston do put him in in the game. Despite the fact that Ryan Fitzpatrick at three picks, we'll very clear, they weren't hesitant. We. I just wondered if they would consider being attacked. Here's the reason. Why is the James Winston had the fifth year option on his contract exercise this off season? If Jameis Winston is on the roster for day one of the twenty nineteen league year, which is March fifteenth or so he would become our that money that is owed twenty million plus would be guaranteed now. Here's the problem if he can't pass a physical on that day. So they want to try to cut him. You still have money still becomes guarantee. It's basically if he's if he's cut before that that March fifteenth date the team does not oh him the money unless he is hurt unable to pass a physical, which is why the Redskins a few years ago, notoriously wrapped RG three up in bubble wrap because they did not want to risk him getting injured. And if he were to get injured and be unable to pass a physical. They would have the paying fifteen million dollars to be the backup to then Kirk cousins same thing could apply here for Tampa Bay. But they are saying no after Ryan Fitzpatrick through yet. Another ridiculous interception in the third quarter. They said by by bringing James he's out there throwing punts. And that what he was looking for the Sean Jackson in the end zone. He failed to see the two two. Members of the giants secondary were there to just feel mental that duck of a pass. All right while that happened. We got something worth updating in Baltimore. Bengals.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers bench Jameis Winston
"Tampa Bay Buccaneers making the move, and it didn't take very long after Sunday's loss to the Bengals James benched. After throwing four picks. Fitzpatrick comes in and becomes fits matching. Again, wasn't enough though Bengals win it on. Randy Bullock last second field goal. But James does not get the start moving forward. It is Ryan Fitzpatrick Willie Reed into this move. Does this tell us that maybe Tampa Bay is starting to wrap up their relationship with James Winston, Dan? This was a big question for me. And I initially said that Jameis Winston would get another shot at the quarterback position because they need a full evaluation before they make the big decision to give him a long term deal to make him the franchise quarterback. But then I did a little research if. He gets hurt which they already picked up his fifth year option. They're gonna twenty one million dollars. So he's going to be stuck with him next year for twenty plus million

But Mike Gundy, making a poop noise at a post game press conference is by far the sportiest thing that happened this entire weekend straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless. Best phones, best networks, no contracts. The other thing that happened this weekend is the return of the NFL's favourite early season storyline. Twenty four karat fits magic tap danced. All over us all over our Sunday afternoons yesterday, and almost did it he almost completed the most Bengals thing possible. Which did you go out there and dominate for three quarters only to give up the goods at the end bring a game all the way back to a tie led. By none other than Ryan Fitzpatrick Ryan Fitzpatrick remember was the story of the early portion of the season. When James Winston was suspended for the first three games. Jaimes Winston didn't play the first three and a half games. Even when he was eligible to return. James Winston who came back. And we all said, I remember talking to Adam Schefter said this is a guy that the buccaneers still anticipate signing even of Ryan Fitzpatrick, just keep doing well, all these different things. And now, here's where we sit with Jameis Winston this is this is the real world that we live in with James Winston right now. Jameis Winston on the year now has ten interceptions including four interceptions yesterday is one shy of the league lead despite having played three and a half fewer games than everybody else in the league. The person who is second to is rookie Sam darnold. Jameis Winston it was his third career game with four hundred exceptions which appropriately enough. Passes. Andy Dalton for the most such games since two thousand fifteen the first year that Winston entered the NFL. So that's who he's been. This has been the consistency of James Winston who says he understands the decision to take him out. It was very humbling. But it's.

"This is more of a philosophical question, Greg, but we're in year four for Marcus mariota and Jameis Winston, is there a time in a player's career or around time when you believe that what we're seeing is kind of is who that guy is. This is what he's going to be and what we're going to get. And you know, longer expect to see growth. Well. I, let's put it this way. I think when you see a player within the same offense with the same coach and the same system over a meaningful amount of time, let's say three years, then you get a very strong idea. I think when you change systems and Mario has now been through three, he's in his fourth year and his third system. So I think you have to be careful you I, I'm telling you what the tape shows. I'm not indicting Mario to as a player. This is what the tape shows now he's not very good, but that doesn't mean he can never be very good. And he's in a brand new system, which is, you know, has a lot of elements to it as most do so it needs time. They can't run the ball, which hurts him. There's too many long yards situations. So. I think it's hard to give a final definitive judgment on Marcus mariota. James Winston has been very up and down. He's been in and out of the lineup a little bit. Clearly the last two years now he's been in the same system for quite I think, from day one because they're cutter, I believe, has been there from day one if I'm not mistaken, and certainly the last three years and we're gonna find out. I think over the rest of this season about James Winston. That's a really good point. And I would say maybe about Mario to as well. I think that's fair though. When a guy's been in the same system for several years, you get to the point where, okay, this is probably what he's going to be an it is a new system for Mario to man. It looked like it that was ABC rural. Here's what people will say. And again, they don't have the same weapons. I understand that. But then for the people who who want to take the flipside of that argument, Ross Delk say, well, look at John McVeigh. He comes in Jared Goff was in his system with Jeff Fisher and that group and within five, six, seven weeks, Jared, Goff. And even from the beginning, you kinda saw Jared Goff looked like a totally different quarterback. There was a sense of timing and rhythm to his game. You know, mariota is theoretically in much the same system because that's where Matt leflore came from and he struggled..
Rob Gronkowski, Tampa Bay and Jameis Winston discussed on Schopp and Bulldog
"Around the NFL ESPN is reporting that rob gronkowski's ankle injury is not so serious, and he should be considered questionable. For New England's Thursday night. Football match up against the colts. And Jameis Winston has been announced as Tampa Bay's starting qb following the week five bye in replacement of Ryan
Fitzpatrick or Winston: Who will start for the Tampa Bay Bucs?
"To footballs and entertainment business, and you have to convince the fans to part ways with money time. And and emotion. Loyalty dedication to the team. What are the people in Tampa? Think of Ryan Fitzpatrick versus Jameis Winston, right? I mean, I saw a bunch of beards. I didn't see anybody eating ws in the stands on Monday night. I saw a bunch of beards on Monday night. Do the Tampa Bay fans want Fitzpatrick or do they want Winston, and and coaches can say we ignore the outside of baloney. If you ignore what your fans want what the people who pay the bills want what the people who either show. Show up or don't want the people who either clamor for you to be fired or clamor for you to get an extension want. Then you're stupid. You have to listen to what the fans want, and you have to be communicating with the fans, you have to be doing focus groups and surveys, and you have to have your finger on the pulse at all times of what the people want because that's a factor. It's not the deciding factor, Chris. But if there is a clear momentum for Fitspatrick, you can't move to Winston you can. But you have to do it at your own risk until there's that clear move among the fans to go with James Winston.
Ryan Fitzpatrick of Tampa Bay Buccaneers throws 3 first-half interceptions but finishes with 411 passing yards in loss
"Passed on first light coming into the Westwood One newsroom. This morning, the F B I annual crime statistics report is out and it shows both violent crime and property crime or down in two thousand seventeen when compared with two thousand sixteen last year there were more than one point two million crimes. So Robert seen any. I dunno football recently. Yeah, I was down just one game last night. It was crazy. It seemed like there were a lot on Sunday. And then only one yes, just like the old days. Ben Rothlisberger pass for three hundred fifty three yards three touchdown passes. All in the first half as Pittsburgh built a thirty to ten halftime lead. Ryan Fitzpatrick starting in the place of the suspended. Jameis Winston also had three scoring passes. Well, four if you count the pick six by the Steelers DuPree that went the other way that's magic fizzled bet he had three interceptions as Tampa Bay takes its first loss of the week. Four begins on Thursday night when the Vikings visit the Rams it's also the first of the by weeks the Redskins and Panthers taking a knee taking a week off. Los Angeles could be without both starting Cornerbacks on Thursday night. I keep deletes going to miss at least a month with a high ankle sprain, Marcus Peters questionable for this week's game with a strained cap. As feared 49ers quarterback. The first team to have four starters record two hundred or more strikeouts. In the same season. Kluber Carlos Carrasco Trevor Bauer and Mike Clemenger who hit the Mark on Saturday as thank the Mariners seven three they secure the last playoff spot in the American League sorting it out to which wildcard they're going to end up with the they're still alive in the AL west race. The ASTRO's beat the Blue Jays five three. There are step closer to clinching that American League West. But they haven't quite done it yet. Yankees deflected the race four to one that knocks Tampa Bay out of the playoff chase. And the angels edge the Rangers five four and eleven innings, Texas, by the way, if you missed it over the weekend. Manager. Jeff Bannister Don Wakamatsu filling in for the rest of the season National League pirates scuttled the cubs. Five to one Jameson Thanh went seven strong innings Francisco. Number thirteen Virginia. Tech lost at Old Dominion forty nine. Thirty five Old Dominion only. Brought back football in two thousand nine Mississippi. State number fourteen fell at Kentucky..
Tampa Bay Buccaneers mum on whether Ryan Fitzpatrick or Jameis Winston will start
"The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback situation. Jameis Winston will be reporting this morning. He's done with his suspension. You could imagine he's eager to get back to work. The team is two and one and Ryan Fitzpatrick has more than twelve hundred yards passing with eleven touchdowns versus I think now four total interceptions. So if you're Dirk cutter, what would you do? We certainly know that Fitzpatrick has a passion for football and that fire that intensity that competitive spirit. That's contagious. And the team has responded. The offense has responded. The offense is happy and productive. So now Fitzpatrick goes into a week of uncertainty with Tampa Bay after the loss on Monday.

"Mean jameis winston to me is a guy that at this point should be labeled a predator i hate to say it but this is a dangerous guy he's a person that you would never leave alone in a room with your sister your daughter your spouse because you don't know what this guy's capable of doing there's too much history now that you're absolutely correct for him to say this is uncharacteristic of is utterly insane and then he of course he says i've i've caught alcohol out of my life and that's good but you know what i spent five years in college rodney and i've had some nights where alcohol was involved in it never may be feel like i need to go grab a woman's crotch without her approval and to me to blame it on alcohols also week i think for jameis winston it's a case where maybe he believes he's privileged because he is a quarterback in the nfl was a star quarterback in college and maybe feels the rules don't apply to him but the fact is the nfl continues to naval james winston the tampa bay buccaneers continued to enable jameis winston their response was reduced to say the least roddy were disappointed in james what do you mean disappointed he's the face of your franchise who's a sexual predator and all you're gonna tell me as you're disappointed base safe with him in their community think about yeah unbelievable dan and that's a great point because i'll tell you this if it would have happened to one of the owner's daughters or nieces or something like that i guarantee you he would have been he would have been released and they i mean they have a responsibility to step up and suspend him as well i mean even just because the nfl's suspended him for three games doesn't mean that you as an organization can't come back and say hey we're going to either suspend you for seven eight games or another three games or we're gonna flat out cut you i believe that they should cut them i just i just believe you should cut them send a message to your locker room to the nfl community to people around kids and young people around the world you cannot do things like that you cannot disrespect a woman and expect to play quarterback like if i'm a kid growing up in tampa bay area like how do i look up to this guy and i know people make mistakes but is this mistake grabbing a woman i can't i just i can't even fathom it now and it's disgraceful but the tampa bay buccaneers organization continues to have this guy's face the franchise but think about this right in the football sense of it rodney this is a big year for jameis winston because the organization has to decide if they're going to pick up his fifth year option right at this point can we even guarantee that the tampa bay buccaneers pickup is fifth year option that i thought they picked i think they picked up the option i think they have until two thousand nineteen march at some point march they could they could basically back out of it i think he's only guaranteed for injury only for that fifth year guarantee i think they already picked up the twenty million dollar but they still back up out of it at a letter later point but to me it goes a little deeper than just money i mean the fact that in keyshawn johnson said something very very interesting he said he said this kid has a problem like he asked some mental issues because if you think about it if he continues to do the same thing and you talked about him being privileged and been able i think i think he sean is onto something maybe he has and we don't talk about mental issues in the united states i think something's wrong with him as well because you don't get it you know you have to know the difference between right and wrong especially as it as it relates to grab and touch and someone a female i mean you just can't do that dan no no and it's not normal you're absolutely right now you know i heard keyshawn johnson bring that up and i agree with him one hundred percent this is normal behavior right i mean this is this isn't something that you know people do i mean unless you're literally you have a mental issue and i think what jameis winston because there's now a pattern of this yeah i think it's definitely time to get him in front of a doctor test.

"Jameis winston only got three games freddie freddie coleman one half of freddie and fitz simons on espn radio like i i understand a lot of the criticism that the nfl gets for how they handle player punishments a lot of it feels and is really arbitrary and really inconsistent whether it's you know player behavior off the field or even what guys do on the field vont has perfect of the cincinnati bengals is often suspended now he has put himself in the league's crosshairs but it just has felt like with him like the punishments are are made up as they go along including last year when he was suspended initially for five games and then ultimately for the first three four a hit in a game against the kansas city chiefs in the preseason he wasn't even flagged for so there just seems to be inconsistency but i guess for me we're always complaining that roger goodell has too much power roger goodell is wielding that power by being the judge the jury the person in charge of the sentencing the appellate court the executioner if you want to go down that route here there seems to be a willingness to meet in the middle at the end of the day jameis winston still has to wear this punishment he still has to wear you know his brand his reputation being tarnished even more he's going to have to wear what this might do to him from the standpoint of getting a contracting central from the tampa bay buccaneers his sign ability if if they ended up moving on from him his endorsement capability like this is a significant dent in his career it's just not six games and to me again jameis winston has not been convicted of anything he has not been criminally accused of anything i think it would've fed at roger goodell suspended jameis winston for six games the same people criticizing him or some of the same people criticizing him for reaching a compromise with james would have with james winston would have would have criticized roger goodell for being heavyhanded for handing down punishment that was too harsh for handing him six games when there is no criminal complaint so i could get dell did the right thing here i think the nfl did the right thing here and now the question is what's this going to do to jameis winston relationship with his current employer you wanna hear donald trump on nfl rate donald trump for whatever reason the president of the united states randomly mentioned nfl ratings he says look there's the anthem protests and the flag issue his words not mine but also that people are really enjoying watching cable tv news not national football league games you know when the nfl's down twenty percents it's the flag but it's also the fact that everybody's watching us on the different cable networks because frankly they find this more exciting than the nfl and a hell of a lot more dangerous right that was in fargo north dakota an arena packed with houses of president trump supporters i don't know if he's right or not and frankly i don't care the point being the nfl has bent over backwards to try to get the president to stop talking about it and guess what's not happening the president.

"The actor not anyone appeal and the reason why he's not going to appeal is because the nfl made a deal with jameis winston you don't fight this like tom brady fought the deflate gate suspension or you don't fight this like zeki ali had fought his own situation that was an act of massage any you don't fight these things and we'll give you a lighter sentence and can anyone explained to me by the way how the nfl got the three games the nfl is so wildly inconsistent when it comes to misogynistic axe ray rice two games oh a video comes out oh now we have to actually act like we care the national football league there's no way the nfl did not see that video before became public the giants kicker josh brown he only got one game there was the league official who had to pull his wife from the pro bowl because josh brown was acting like a jackass at an animal so i don't get out of the nfl comes to these conclusions and these penalties and they just make it up as they go and the nfl could tell you they care the nfl is could tell you they're trying to improve these problems with their pliers and some of their players that commit these terrible heinous acts but do they really care because if you thought jameis winston did touch the super driver why are you looking to settle with them you know you have the power you know you could suspend them for however many games you want to suspend him so why did you go soft here why did you only go three games because you gotta deal you got jameis winston who said he won't appeal anyone with this thing linger out so.

"Jameis winston of tampa bay buccaneers who let me put this in a way where i can't get in trouble most people in florida state university thought he raped a woman and got away with it because florida state university covered out covered up for him because he was the frequent quarterback jameis winston grabbed a woman's clutch sexual assault in my book tom brady was given a four game suspension for the fleeting football or having something to do with it jameis winston was given a three game suspension ladies what does the nfl telling you that they don't give a crap about women well that's what i think they're telling you you don't matter to us how do you give a three game suspension to somebody that arguably raped somebody in college and was covered up by the university and then does a little repetition of it and by the way jameis winston is now apologizing after saying they swear he didn't do it and they made up the story that other people were in the car and they vouched for him and they lied to and he only gets a three game suspension and i asked the question what the hell is a matter with the commissioner of the nfl roger goodell are you sick in the minds.

"The news jameis winston has been suspended by the league for three games you want to get when they continue this story one component we did not touch on yet what what does the sinoe when it come to you on this ronald darby his accounts of of the story how does this factor at when i think what we're trying to eliminate here is that in the process of the investigation at the nfl was interviewing multiple people that including winston and other people who were with him that night or even said that they are with him that includes eagles cornerback ronald darby now initially there was an account saying that jameis winston was in the back seat of this uber car with ronald darwin that he was never in the front and then later via report from outside the lines and other account had come from brandon banks saying that at some point yes jameis winston was in fact alone with the uber driver and then there's some additional context of that that there may have been multiple rides that night so in fact you know various things might be true but i think the underlying there is that ronald darby's account was beginning to fall apart in terms of what was actually true and what was not true so just the actual component one of not being truthful completely forthright and then i think in this statement you know that i'm also getting ready to read here in a second just failure to report in terms of notifying the league immediately and the notification coming to the league like eight months after the fact of when the actual incident occurred so just to be clear on this i was doing reporting on this last week spoke to a source on friday and with direct knowledge of this and ask the question with this brand of banks stuff coming out is ronald darby and some trouble was did he mislead the league or it's his account proving to be credible told unequivocally no ronald darby is not the subject subject of any kind of investigation you know he's an eyewitness ear so the sense i got from talking to people around around this situation was that yes maybe more than one ride so darby's account wasn't necessarily untrue if banks account is the league talks about having other evidence including telephone records electron devices you can track where uber goes you know and so you can you can tell where the driver was at specific times and not necessarily you know who she picked up but you can tell whether historic holds up in terms of those details so obviously an extensive investigation that the league leaned on a number of things including eyewitness testimony and other in quickly we do want to get adam schefter and on the conversation we have adam on the phone right now adam what more are you hearing about the winston suspension look i think that these were ongoing discussions and i think the nfl did not feel there was enough evidence to warrant a six game suspension onto the personal conduct policy and i think that they were in discussions for a four game suspension over the last couple of weeks that eventually got lower to three i don't wanna say it was a settlement because it wasn't a settlement but i think by james winston agreeing to accept the three games i think the nfl came off its number of four which should originally was planning spend came as winston forge means he will return at the missing games in new orleans and then.

"Dot com that the winston camp is bracing for a suspension three games maybe as few as one game but cameron who i think is plugged in with the winston camp he was at the jameis winston draft party in alabama fifteen so he knows what's going on and he as he explains it the suspension chris is gonna come from the obligation under the personal conduct policy to report any potential violation because what happened was the driver made a complaint to uber back at the time it was jameson winstons account his account was blocked by uber so he was on notice at that point that something had happened and under the personal conduct policy even this goes against human nature being if you haven't been arrested if you haven't been sued but you're aware that somebody's accusing you doing something but you think you didn't do it you still have an obligation to tell the team and the team has obligation to tell the league because that didn't happen at the time that's the opening that the league may have to punish him regardless of whether the league concludes that he did it they can punish him for failing to disclose it and so the buccaneers may be without jameis winston to start the season and that could make it very difficult for the buccaneers to reverse a playoff drought that goes back more than a decade nfl i mean they're they're so fair and their judiciary system be honest i mean you know i mean yeah go me tell you so you can give me a fair trial and never hear my side of the story and we'll have an investigator who will actually side with me that you hire that you don't even talk to remember that that was the ezekiel elliott case right so again the nfl and this is the problem with the cba and this is going to be an ongoing problem with football players for as long as it lasts because players have three a three year average career they're not willing to strike and some of the bylaws of the cbi basically the nfl can find any reason they want to suspend you bottom line i'm not even gonna get into the case it's just weird and odd that were this is flown under the radar right all off season i'm not surprised now that i'm hearing it i did kind of forget about it when it came back up again but i mean it's hard as a player as an ex player if i was putting myself and jameis winston shoes or other players it's hard for me to trust the nfl right now and think that they're going to do the right thing whether you're guilty or not and you make a great point it's not just the human nature in that circumstance would be going to keep my head low in my mouth shut until i have to do something about it if i'm not sued if i'm not charged criminally i'm not saying anything to anyone about it and i'm just gonna act like everything's fine i'm gonna play it cool and hope that it all blows over i think that's the basic human nature reaction you throw on top of it the fact that the nfl has a reputation for administering justice via a kangaroo court you're even less likely to put your hand up and say hey mister with your arbitrary procedures and processes please make me the subject of this year's persecution of someone who maybe didn't do what he's accused of doing but won't have a chance to prove that he didn't do it so you've got a double whammy here of human nature number one you're inclined to let it blow over number two you're not inclined to voluntarily walk into arena where you know you're going to get screwed cases like this again jameis winston are they also going to play into into the case here you know prior things that have happened to him that all plays into it too so you know i don't know what to expect that would be a huge blow for the tampa bay buccaneers to not have have him out there for the first two three games there early schedule is scary i mean what that's about as tough as it gets those first three games and even going to chicago who's going to be a different football team this year and then at atlanta so this is a team that struggled last year.
