"Wonder is that i mean clearly you. Dairy as smith is not in optimum of optimum fitness right. Now i wonder. Is there anything that is a warning sign for this defense. Going forward peter. The warning sign was in january when they hire joe berry his previous track record is a defensive coordinator. Two years in detroit is defense is finished thirty. Two thirty two two years in washington is defense. Finished twenty eighth twenty eight now. You look at the talent that they had in those places. Nowhere near what they have here with. Scenario smith with preston smith with gyro zander. Maybe one of the best corners in the league that they have a playmaker at pretty much every level. Kenny clark over. The better nose tackles in the league. So joe berry's certainly has a lot more talent to work with plus matlin floor hired for what one reason because he worked with the brand staley which is the vic fangio defense. But i'll tell you what it didn't look a whole lot different from the dom capers three four and then the mike patton three four after that and to me. That's you know the the question mark again was joel berry going to be any better than joe berry was in previous places and isn't going to be any better than capers pet more and at this point again one game. Not only the jugs machine but in catching tennis balls one handed. And if you see this if you see his touchdown in this game he's closely covered in the left corner of the end zone and the steelers need this play. They need this score to make their offense. And you know it really stuck out to me is look. Cleveland is a very good team. Cleveland is a top ten team in the nfl right now. But in the last twelve minutes of their game against the kansas city chiefs they went from maybe not controlling the game total but but being in the lead and having a good chance to win and then two plays happen. "Now thing number two that I saw, I saw the Giants lost an end. I didn't watch the game I watched the highlights to watch teddy Bridgewater. He looked okay. But I want to acknowledge I only looked at the box score of this game, and then I watched the highlights. And so I'm going to sit down tomorrow, watch the game in full between Denver and New York. But I gotta say, man, I am so glad the Giants got saquon Barkley back because where else would they have been able to find somebody to carry the ball ten times for 26 yards? I'm like, it's not like they could have drafted or running back in the third round that could have made a big impact. No, no, no. They had to draft saquon Barkley. Number two, overall, didn't we see the impact of sake on Barkley yesterday? Come on. Lineman win games, dude. It's unbelievable to me how people don't understand without a good offensive line, a star running back is useless. I'm not denying the talent saquon Barkley has. But that pick, I look back and say when barbecue was the wrong move, because he's been hurt. He can't carry a team like he needs a good offensive line and the Giants don't have that. So kind of fun, fun snarkiness that really ten carries 26 yards. We'll see how the year goes. But right now, I'm like, I nailed my giants prediction. Number three, teddy Bridgewater, I haven't watched a game watch the highlights to get a feel of how he played, but my Friends say he played really well. Teddy Bridgewater his stat line is 28 for 36, 255 yards, two touchdowns. No picks, a goose egg. And the Giants have a pretty solid defense. So I want people to open their mind, open your heart, leave it open in your heart for the possibility that magic could happen. We have seen Trent Dilfer when a Super Bowl. And Jimmy Garoppolo led his team to a Super Bowl Jared Goff led his team to a Super Bowl like didn't win, but they got to one. Bad quarterbacks are average quarterbacks get to super bowls actually quite frequently. Look at Jared Goff. He looked at Peyton Manning in his final year, paid Manning. That final year with the Broncos, when you want a Super Bowl paid Manning was not prime paid Manning at all. And Nick Foles went a Super Bowl, the great football team. We see bad or average quarterbacks get to and sometimes even win Super Bowl. So the dream stays alive for teddy Bridgewater and my opinion, he could win a Super Bowl in Denver. Because the roster there, I just have so much respect for the way that football team is built. And I go, look, teddy Bridgewater get pulled off. He could win a Super Bowl. Say, I'm on drugs, say all the mean comments you want. I don't really care. Their roster is loaded and teddy. If he is good and consistent and plays the way he did, I saw a little bit of the tape. I haven't watched all of it. I watched a couple highlights. That's it, but I was like, that's a good throw. That's a good throw teddy looks in command. I'll watch that game tomorrow, but I feel.

"One. My name is Zach shambler. I will be right back. Oh, right we are back hope we're doing very, very well. Let's now jump into the second game of watch this weekend. It was a phenomenal game. The chiefs just beat the browns 33 to 29. And it was a great game. The crowd in Kansas City was phenomenal. I didn't realize how much I missed having really passionate fund excited live crowds in the NFL. It was like a sea of red chanting, oh. Dude, I love that. Even through the TV, it's just so cool to hear and I really, really miss that side of the NFL. Now, I want to start today by giving credit to Kansas City's quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He was put in a tough spot yesterday. Basically, they had three rookie offensive linemen starting. They had center creed Humphrey, right guard, Trey Smith, and then right tackle Lucas niang was actually drafted last year in 2020. But he opted out. So the result was that Kansas City had three starting offensive linemen who had never played a down in the NFL before. And they were playing against the Cleveland Browns. The browns have a really, really good defensive line. Two former number one overall picks to deviant Clowney, and then the headline guy, miles Garrett who's a fantastic defensive end. And they got pressure on Patrick Mahomes early and often. They was running around for his life. Now the key was, they could not bring him down. And I can not understate the impact of having Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback. He's the best quarterback in the NFL, buy a mile. His ability to extend plays and survive with a bad offensive line is just ridiculous to me. I think I often don't give enough credit actually. And he makes throws that other guys wouldn't even attempt. I mean, again, predictions for Kansas City. I talked about how I'm concerned about their offensive line..

"The ones that you don't make. Yesterday we saw a calculated and patient Jameis Winston. I really believe that working with head coach Sean Payton in New Orleans is making him a better quarterback. And I'd love to see that mandate, potential here in New Orleans is unbelievable. What he can do? I mean, Jameis adds an element to this football team, and this offense, the Drew Brees just couldn't do last year. James had a he launched a depot 55 yards to the under Harris for a long touch, and I'm like , hey, I don't think I saw Drew Brees here that one time last year. James throwing 5 touchdowns is even crazier when you realize this fact. Most of the receivers that he was throwing to against Green Bay were undrafted. Only one receiver on the saints active roster against Green Bay was drafted. By the way, it's kind of weird. It was time Montgomery. He got drafted by the Green Bay Packers. He only got one pass for 5 yards. Every other guy was brought in as an undrafted free agent. The point is that Jameis Winston did that and 5 touchdown passes against the packers won their division went to the NFC title game last year. James had 5 touches on passes with basically undrafted receivers and didn't even have his best guy. Right now, Michael Thomas are best receiver is out with injury. He's coming back at some point. I feel really good and really excited by Jameis Winston. So another thing that's impressive about the saints season openers when you realize that the city was just decimated by hurricane Irma. The team currently is operating out of Dallas, they're living in hotel rooms, their families are out of school and they all got moved. That's another big story here is overcoming adversity. kind of reminds me a bit of when the saints were kind of trying to recover in the city of New Orleans is trying to recover from Hurricane Katrina. "Now that didn't matter to their quarterback Russell wasn't Russell Wilson said, I got to make this work. I got to figure it out. I want to win. And my point is, Russell Wilson beat a better football team. The Indianapolis Colts. And Patrick Mahomes beat a really good loaded Cleveland Browns team with a struggling offensive line a really good defensive line he was playing against. These are two Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson. And if you want to win with those guys, all you got to do is get your team good enough, make it close, and then they will do the work from there. They will elevate your football team and you will win. And then I encourage you, go look at the scores from week one of the NFL season. It's unbelievable. There's an outlier, the falcons game. I think Matt Ryan's a great quarterback. I haven't watched the game yet Jalen hurts. I heard played really, really well. Is Jalen hurts a better quarterback than Matt? I don't know the answer to it. It's possible. And I think the Broncos, giants gamete, teddy Bridgewater is better than Daniel Jones, but that's another one that's called same with Sam darnold and Zach Wilson. But if you look across the board at the NFL, the better quarterback won this week and every single game. It's unbelievable. You're like, wow, wow. If you said, hey, which team has a better quarterback? That team won. Every single time this week in the NFL. And so I think sometimes I overcomplicated. I go deep in the weeds, but this guy and that guy, it's like, wow. Is the quarterback good enough to elevate his team? Sometimes that's the question you have to ask and that's the only question you have to ask. And I would ask yourself if you're a football fan and you have a favorite team. Then ask yourself, can my teams quarterback elevate my team? Because I watch Joe burrow just elevate the Cincinnati Bengals, they beat Minnesota in overtime. Russell Wilson did it Patrick Mahomes did it. Tyler Murray had 5 touchdowns against Tennessee. When is Daniel Jones ever thrown for four and ran for one and dominated another football team? I've never seen that from Daniel Jones, and I'm still waiting. And that's why Aaron Rodgers has been.

New Orleans Saints to Use Interim Facility for First Month of Season

"That's bold. you also got a lot of backlash for your colts pick. But i didn't see anything wrong with your colts back. Neither gary nor i objected to people actually pick because it was to lower too high too low and also the mechanism by which we got there. Which so let's let kind of let everybody in a little bit on the secret sauce. Here i picked this thing by putting down tally. So i had each team on a piece of paper. And then it w and l. And i went through the schedule and i tallied all the things because i didn't wanna look at the record until afterwards and it didn't want it to influence anything but then i got it done wrote. Everything turned it in editor. Mitch says change of plans. We need every single game game by gain and so then you have to go back a second time and and try to remember which wins and losses and then basically we had race the whole thing and then go back and do it from the beginning and so. I don't know if i realized that the colts were going to lose those first. Five games I don't know if i had them down. But that's just kinda of how. I made the ten and seven work eventually like sometimes we had to fit stuff together because the afc records were already printed in the magazine. And so you know. Have to kind of like Wiggle them in a little bit. And but i still believe that like that first. Five games They're brutal Can pull it up right here but like yes so with or without carson wentz you have the seahawks the rams at the titans at the dolphins at the ravens. That's a tough. I five games. You know and it's a good team but You know. I think that there's an argument to be made that they could lose all those games. Yeah i mean i look. I think they're like eleven at six i. I didn't get worked up over a ten and seven prediction for colts though with the carson wentz question mark young so i i thought it was good. I thought you were going to object to forty niners jenny so i i did I i prepared for that On the on the last one. I just think i think we're going to get a tray lance package that we haven't seen it's going to be hard to defend and i think it's going to be second half of the year really fun. That'd be my That's my estimation and one more quick story speaking of the forty niners. So ray ratto is a writer based in the bay area has a radio show They had me on last night to talk about my four hours prediction. And he said Why do you do this. But it in a way that like i think got to the heart of it. Which is the this is a stupid thing to do. And i said well you know you try to do this. And then he said Have you ever done this successfully. Because i'm trying to figure out like who are you and why you doing and so it really put me into my place made me feel pretty good in general about everything and You know but we'll see we got three teams dead on last year. "Is it by singing. I need to also correct myself a few minutes ago. I was like it can often be connor me against gary but really. I you know they're so here's it's interesting like there is such an element of fear in not picking the bills to win the afc east. That like i was like not bullied. But like you know you know bothered throughout the season by this. And so i was just like you know what here. Here's the thing. But i. I have the new england patriots at eleven and six as sort of a way at like. It's sort of hidden cry for help like i. I really believe in new. But i'm scared of these people over. What a statement though to say that you felt compelled are scared not to pick the bills. When the afc fcat's that is quite a statement in connor would not have been said since the late nineties mid nineties when early nineties. I'm really dates here early. Nineties correct me all right. I spent some time doing some various You know market Radio interviews when this thing came out. Because everyone's like oh you're wrong. "You can manage that you hope that maybe with the full off-season traditional training camp Maybe some that got coach out of them. But we hear all the stuff about like. Oh this you know quarterback academy and and he's come along so well and and then he goes out there and it's one throw but it's the same mistake we saw just a thousand times in tampa. Yeah and i think the vision of the field coaches often say is one of the hardest things to fix or at least. It's the thing that drives coaches to the breaking point with a quarterback. You often hear what their vision is terrible. We can't fix it like it's over like whenever a team gets to a breaking point with a quarterback and decided to go in another direction that is often a factor and certainly you know it was a factor in tampo now. Of course they moved onto. Tom brady so you could say that. Didn't work out. what they've stayed with. James i don't know but i think if they did stay with jameson hadn't gotten brady. I think they would have the same reservations of like but we can't fix this thing. That is essential to your job. So i don't know maybe it's fixed. Maybe it's not but there seems to be a disproportionate amount of optimism and new orleans. I don't know. I was watching the game with my mom and she goes. But didn't this guy already happened and i guess bomb. He said exactly a very long chance longer than most people every chance. I wasn't good. I will say that if we all harken back to our division preview from a couple of weeks ago someone is feeling very good about his. Ian book x factor. Mentions there in book got a little. Bit of pop. On tv sean. Payton may be stacking him up as his hidden sort of tom brady for when this inevitably explodes but yeah i mean to journeys point. It doesn't address the issue that jameis winston has had and again. Maybe maybe it. Maybe this is it. Maybe having this off season is what will ultimately make it work and we will see jameis winston who has plenty of physical tools to work with ear. "Hill pod necessarily corrupt But it it. It felt very cold to me the entire situation. Shocking with sean payton involved. But just watching the whole thing. Unfold on monday night and listening to louis riddick. Brian greasy talk about it and they were basically inferring that throughout the week during the production meetings. Tatum hill was increasingly frustrated. Seem to have Acknowledged the fact that he was falling behind in this job. And sean payton kept telling the broadcast crew and tastes hill. That like you're just too valuable just the way you are and you know that kept being the sign is like i can't sacrifice you as a quarterback because i need you all these other places and so they just kept repeating it and repeating that to the point where i was like. What are we doing here. Then what's the. What was the point of all this. Was this ever a competition did he. You know and was james just so bad that they had to keep saying it was a competition until there was one day when sean payton could like slam the table mic okay. Now it's over. He acted like a quarterback finally. Well that's the thing. There's definitely a practicality to saying okay. Well we can use taste him on this other role whereas jameis winston if he's number two quarterback he's just you know he's going to be on the sideline the entire game so there's that but just looking at it again purely from what these guys have put on film in you know. We saw james for years in tampa he had very limited number of snap said he took last year but I've written about this play. I will probably write about it again. Before the season starts he played that one half against the forty niners at home when drew brees originally got hurt. And he was protecting a two touchdown lead and he threw the most jamesy dangerous mistake throw and bounced off jimi wards chest basically but the issue with james and. I mean but to make him a perennial right right. Where were you could be a perennial playoff team. He's not gonna be able to put up the listen drew. Brees is just right. You can't you can't compete with that. But is he strong enough mentally to at least step into the void and survive and thrive. I believe especially if sean payton buys completely in. Because as i've shared before my purpose through this show and through what we're doing is that we can impact ten million people. Yes that's ten million people but his folks like you. It's folks like me are sharing the show giving back loving it passing out to the family. Their friends their colleagues or workers sharing on their social media and said that was one heck of an episode. My son my daughter. My mom my dad. My grandma my grandpa has got to listen to that. Or if it's if it's an athlete or a non athlete someone who was facing adversity or someone who's at the high highs and jamie's has explored and been through all of that himself. Okay from one quarterback three of quarterbacks dak prescott cam newton matthew stafford. Two of these quarterbacks are back with their with their former teams and then one quarterbacks is in a new team. But i think all these guys are kind of in the same boat as far as indeed need to kind of produce this year right. So i want to ask some questions about these quarterbacks. And i wanna see what you guys is. Answers are so the first question i posed about. These three. quarterbacks is which quarterback is most likely to win the super bowl this year. Round easiest guy to become newton. You look at all surprised. Big surprise covid from denver. Can you you look at the patriots. Did this offseason. It's been brilliant. Have some of the players coming back. They have jonnu smith and hunter henry the double book in titans that we know bad that offense at patriots often. They really like that and with the guy like a cam. Newton desk two extra god's blocking when he decides to run you never originated cam newton coming back after a very tough season and then you have. Potentially they're gonna bring another running back as well. And then you have the nelson aga- lord there jillian atamans there. So they have a rejuvenated playmakers as well and they have a rebuil- often zip line all that means and then on top of that. We have a motivated bill belichick because he just saw he just saw tom. Brady is super bowl. so you more. The page is going to be motivated. They're going to be much better defensively. I think is going to be better out of those three quarterbacks. I'm definitely taken cam newton. I like those reasons. Chris and just kind of break it down. I'm not. I'm not really satisfied. With the with the receivers they brought in on any other team on your on any other established team the two receivers that they brought in probably be second third receivers which you paid. A lot of money brings two guys and the titans very impressed. I liked the titans that they brought in. They brought in some of office of linemen They paid a lot of money for some office of alignment to bring him in these into brightness pro promos as well as you're going to camden protection and then just like you said chris They've had to have a lot of defensive players coming back You know and that side so that friendship much better. So out of those three quarterbacks do see new england. But just for argument's sake. I'm going to go in the opposite direction. I'm gonna go to saint louis. Saint boy saint louis louis away ben. Lewis the la rams right. I'm very excited to see matthew stafford. Open it up. You've got to great receivers on that side. You already have best defensive player in football and aaron donald and the la rams have shown that they will not. They were empty out. They pockets to make sure they're bringing in players for that team ensure that they went. La is moving and running for a super bowl. So i'm gonna matthew stafford as a quarterback has to win this year. If i'm a mistake and he's only really got to real years on that contractor for the rams he's only got two years to make it happen deck. He got paid a lot of money he just got paid so he's got four years to make it happen but as far as hundred so as far as make this year matthew stafford bre more likely to make it. This year is the question. I pose more than likely. I'm just matthew stafford. I do agree. Chris that it's cam newton overtime. I do agree to chris. Cam newton that be in my head to pick anybody anybody. If anybody was going to go to cam newton. I think that you just put it. You hit it right on the nail. Chris the motivation is there not just by cam newton but by bill belichick bill check. I've never seen new england. Spend this much money in ever. I'm shocked so there's a lot right. They're they're trying to make sure they give camden all the pieces that he needs to go. Further in the playoffs. New england pages were seven and nine last year. They had a great first half of the season to season. Kind of falter little bit and they were still able to finish seven and nine so looking at what bill budget bill. Because i do think that matthew stafford and the la rams team have a lot to also. And i think they can make suitable as well so it was really close. So that's why they weren't in the in the equation in this question so the second question i pose is which one of these quarterbacks will have the best statistical season there again. It's obviously here cam. Newton oh my god. What a big surprise surprising if you look at the patriots did out of a good point with the last question. He said the wide receivers that they brought in really not number one or maybe adler and number two cam. Newton is throughout his entire career. You can argue. Other than steve smith which is really his first season and a half is best receivables who kelvin benjamin so great wide receivers. What he means her pass catching tight ends. And the patriots brought just brought brought to jonnu smith and hunter henry so that allows them to attack the middle of the field where he's at his strongest. And then you gotta think is running. Numbers are going to be excellent so we ask questions statistically i think statistically matthew stafford is going to have the most yard right he's going to have the most yards. I'm visiting question to that. But who's gonna have the overall season. I think is going to be cam newton. This is a very intriguing. Because these three quarterbacks have proven they can have greater two seasons at the matthew stafford can easily throw for five thousand yards right cam newton with all those weapons. I think because you rush you so much. I don't see a four five thousand yard thrower by do something along the lines of four thousand yards thirty touchdowns pro passing and probably another twelve rushing. I mean that'd be fantastic down every pin numbers right there right. We can't forget though last year. Dak prescott was cut. Short guy was on pace to throw for million touchdowns in yards early. The guy before that the guy came second to none of the jameis winston throwing for almost five thousand yards and over thirty touchdowns and he does not turn the ball over well except for the except for the fumbles. So who's more more more likely in terms of six and mvp. I'd say the competition man. It is tough. I'm just typical. This is this because one of those areas man that that is tough. I'm really intrigued by cam. Newton and all those weapons of what he can do. But i imagine going to lean towards my god dak prescott because of what he's shown over the last two years granted last year was cut short. All those weapons we all know dallas has got to move the football as long as debt prescott. Is there his got three thousand yard. Receivers already got zeke. Elliot and hopefully you've got a office of line but without that being said those first five games are offers a line or the dow's office alarm was already in shambles and the guy was still throwing at historical numbers. Free Agency 2021: Biggest Winners and Losers From Day One
"Who's the biggest winner from day. One the biggest winner from day one already told you it was. It was a my intro. You're listening great question. Jonnu smith out. It's cam newton. Well that depends kenyans a starter for sixteen games. That's right that's true. It's yeah okay. Potentially find jonah smith. Donald smith big contract with the patriots They invest heavily in him. You like this for him i do. I think you know Obviously the quarterback is the concern. But this is the scenario especially with the move that they made that we look for in fantasy as tight end could be the leader of the pack in terms of targets and opportunities and so look cam was not good in twenty twenty. If cam does start sixteen games in two thousand twenty. One greg olsen. During a five year stretch was pretty awesome of the top tier tight ends of the guys that we did. We talk about what he was in the next group you know. And so from twenty two thousand twenty sixteen. Greg olsen averaged a hundred eighteen targets a season seventy seven catches Decide one thousand yards and five times. Johnny could do that. One season estimate put them right around a top five tight end. Greg olsen was great and not only was he great but we also saw from cam newton in that stretch that he could give you greg olsen. Who could finish as a top eight tight in five straight seasons and give you a number to wide receiver in four of those five seasons three or four of those five seasons whether it was. Steve smith or kelvin. Benjamin and even ted ginn one year. So that's interesting. What the rest of the receiving corps will look like if julian edelman on the team if he's healthy Nagla is going to be A guy that's not on many fantasy rosters middle of the season whereas corey davis could be the best receiver for the jets. I don't know if that's going to be the case. But i would take davis by far over niagara.

"Season officially upon us. We've got a lot of lot of stories a lot of rumors lot of things floating out there that may not make people happy. It's the long dark Patriots podcast. I'm John zanis filling in and the story du jour or do week or whatever you want to say here appears to be a Cam Newton wage. His name is resurfacing and the Patriots quarterback starch and Greg. I can't I can't think of Anything worse to happen right now if you're a Patriots fan right now and and all you want is New Hope. Okay. This is a new hope the possibilities are endless blank canvas money draft picks Capital. Theoretically the Patriots could do a lot of different things some of which could be very exciting and interesting and I can't think of one thing that would just throw a wet blanket all over over all over that any more than bringing back Cam Newton. Yeah John, it's it's weird. I I started hearing the chatter on all the Sports Talk radio station a week and I'm like what the hell is going on? Like it's basically like Cam Newton's become it's similar to some of the debates that you hear in politics like where they just like Stoke fear in people to generate interest in their shows and things like that. It's like, ooh now Cam Newton's the boogeyman that like who they might be bringing Cam Newton back just to get people to react like people people need to settle down and this is why you suck. Had to be SJ this why you listen to this podcast because you know things like how last offseason when everybody was going nuts about Saddam was a guy in Cherry stem is going to be this and Jerry system is going to be that and he's going to be the next guy. You know, what did I tell you from January of last year over a year ago. I told you that he was not be the starter that there was going to be some sort of Veteran competition. So, you know, welcome to coming here where you where you get well informed you don't have to worry about the hysteria. You just get straight facts and and what's going on. So here's where we are. We Cam Newton and this is something that I've been talking about since the end of his Patriots season, which is it's always been a possibly that Cam Newton could come back here. It all depends on what happens with the market and who they end up with the quarterback and this and that but for anyone to suggest the Cam Newton month Is going to be re-signed being the definite number one. That's what we want starter here next year. That's not going to happen. It just it just isn't in and here's why. We've also sort of touched on this but just to sort of reinforce the point. I think what happened this past season is the Patriots realized and and look we've talked about it that there wasn't really a plan back to check understood that there weren't enough chairs for the quarterbacks and somebody was going to be left could have been Jameis Winston could have been Cam Newton could have been Andy Dalton could have been anybody. It happened to be Cam Newton and they said they'd make it work. It did not work and what I think John what happened was and actually I know this happened the Patriots realized after the Cam Newton experiment that not every quarterback can work in the system and that's not to say Cam Newton still not capable of playing good football. I think that he is do I think it could be better with a better Supporting Cast absolutely I do and do I think God Part of the problem last year. Yes, but at its basis in this scheme, you need a quarterback who sees the totality of what's going on in the field. You need someone who's going to win before the snap. You need somebody who's going to see something on the defense say that's this is about to be a bad play here. We're checking to this and Cam Newton outside of you know, he might he might have alerted a few plays here and there but not even close to what we've seen in and look I'm not going to compare him to Tom Brady. Nobody's going to be Tom Brady, but The Baseline Jimmy Garoppolo would have been a lot better. Jarrett Stidham probably would have been a lot better in terms of what he could even when Jarrett Stidham got in John. We saw things like Palm Coast him would change things that the line that's the Baseline in this offense. And that's where it starts. The number one tenant in this offense is don't run any bad place when the quarterback is incapable of doing that for whatever reason that's that's strike. Number one strike. Turnovers Doom Saints in 30-20 NFC Divisional Playoffs Loss to Bucs
"Bill. I just want to dive into it here. Because there's a lot to get to after watching the bucks. Beat the saints. Thirty to twenty so new orleans had been in tampa bay twice this season in week. One about four hundred years ago and then again in november. So what was the difference in this game vs those other two. I really simple pablo the saints. Just didn't protect the football. In the two regular season games between these teams the saints won the turnover battle. Both times there are plus three in the week one victory and then one up in the rematch. Tom brady threw five picks across those two games. Only seven in his other fourteen games. That really felt like the saints had his number and they were gonna have to flip that to win in new orleans. Well they flipped. It didn't turn the ball over the saints coughed up. Four times including three interceptions drew brees. The bucks turned the first few takeaways and two touchdowns and use the fourth to wrap up the game and kneel down. It's virtually impossible to win a playoff game. That sort of margin the saints will just sloppy in this game. Mean breeze could have thrown four or five picks. He threw an awful interception under pressure for the first one and on the same page with alvin kamara on a scene route for the second interception. The third bounced off jared cook. Who also fumbled away a completion on a drive where the saints were looking at. Go up to scores. They lost the ball and proceeded to give up seventeen unanswered points to end their season. So clearly the bucks had a formula of sorts for stopping breeze in it seemed like every aspect of this game. But it's not just that they stopped him instead. They made him look straight up terrible really often and i'm wondering how did they do that to that degree. Well i really think that todd bowles bucks defense. Look the tape from last week's game against the bears look how drew brees was playing. Look at how pal those receivers were moving and just didn't think there was anybody in that lineup who could reliably win against man coverage or beat them down field with their speed. This was especially true. After the saints lost deonte harris who had two long punt returns early in this game to a neck injury the saints did get a long touchdown but it was not with brees on the field. It was the lone snap for one jameis winston who came in and use the same trick. Play the bears ran against them last week. For a long touchdown coming across his sanders they handed to them. Refers goes to jameson mega man. Wide open trade smith at the twenty five fifteen ten five and a touchdown saints and jameis winston. What a touchdown pass against his former overall when breeze on the field it was pretty clear at the game plan was to dare him and his receivers to try and take shots towards the sidelines and get downfield and the game plan worked the bucks used heavy doses of twists and stunts upfront create pressure and then just smothered breezes receivers. I honestly it really felt the only reason. Sean payton didn't bench breeze for winston on the last drive. The game is because it was probably a last few snaps of drew brees his career.

Part of me does wonder. Is this deal for absolute sure does did Winston know about that before he he came determines but either way he? He should do the deal. Because if he can somehow impress Sean Payton or if he can end up getting in the lineup and being as backup like Teddy Bridgewater What better place to possibly learn because damis Winstons still has a lot to learn but he also has a lot of talent a guy that throws for five thousand yards can do things in the NFL and like there's no better place to learn. "Some interesting results pain. Every dog has its day and apparently sports books were able to buy back with their biggest Sunday of the football season thus far yeah tell you didn't capitalize while enough on that not the best. Sunday in it was it was a mess one one of those ones where you go through the car and you're like man I like this. I like this when I like this and they just don't make the cut and left a lot of money on the table and makes two of us. Is You watching coaching. We mentioned some of the bigger results clearly housing you root for the buffalo bills they get to the window at the Detroit lions as well as home underdogs and then of course Sunday night football we see the New Orleans Saints Cover Ver- as modest two to two and a half point underdogs but all that aside pain when you watched all the Games yesterday you went through some of the box scores and everything else as we do Monday mornings the good the bad and the ugly what stood out to you as some of the positive takeaways at least a quarter point of the season. Let's go the guy that constantly gets crapped on Jameis Winston. I thought he was fantastic. Obviously again needs to clean up. The mistakes still had the the massive brain fart late in the game which can happen but I think if you ask Bruce Arians eat like hey if Janus has like one w t.f moment every game. Would you take that I think the answer is probably probably s you know and aside from that one throw again. James was fantastic at the sixth deepest average intended air yards per throw in with that his completion completion percentage with four and a half percent better than expectation. He was accurate. WHO's officiant hit explosive plays your move that one pass and it probably was his best performance says a pro I think and when you look at geniuses performance clearly we know he's been surrounded by weapons. Tampa looks to speak figuring it out as far as they're running back situation relation that performance kind of the tip of the iceberg that we should have some optimism for James over the next twelve games I would think so right and we kind of came into the season and said hey this is is an interesting fit here with James who likes to be aggressive and head coach that likes to be aggressive if they can tone down the turnovers the offense has a real shot here and so when you're looking at this team two and two they blew the giants game missed field goal and I know a lot of the naysayers were saying something to the effect of they didn't trust James late so they ran the ball. Allah meanwhile there's an explosive town fields which to my Gavin's which set him up in the position to kick the game winning field goal so I viewed it a little bit differently early. I thought Tampa was going to be a team. That was going to impress the one team. No one was talking about in the off season right all of these changes at head coach and coordinators gators that were happening throughout the league. This was the one this was probably the biggest acquisition when you can bring in a Bruce Arians when he can add todd bowles to his defense who is the one that wasn't being discussed a lot about and I know in the off season. The win total was set at six. There's a reason it went up to six and a half. There wasn't sharp money but it wasn't talked about because they were still projected. It'd be one of the worst teams in their own division but I really liked what I'm seeing from Tampa right now. The ground games get going especially Ronald Jones the last two weeks as well. That's been a benefit and helped the offense to make a good balance but as long as James doesn't turn it over the scheme the style and the weapons are there for him to be

Think of Ryan Fitzpatrick versus Jameis Winston, right? I mean, I saw a bunch of beards. I didn't see anybody eating ws in the stands on Monday night. I saw a bunch of beards on Monday night. Do the Tampa Bay fans want Fitzpatrick or do they want Winston, and and coaches can say we ignore the outside of baloney. If you ignore what your fans want what the people who pay the bills want what the people who either show. Show up or don't want the people who either clamor for you to be fired or clamor for you to get an extension want. Then you're stupid. You have to listen to what the fans want, and you have to be communicating with the fans, you have to be doing focus groups and surveys, and you have to have your finger on the pulse at all times of what the people want because that's a factor. It's not the deciding factor, Chris. But if there is a clear momentum for Fitspatrick, you can't move to Winston you can. But you have to do it at your own risk until there's that clear move among the fans to go with James Winston.

"The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback situation. Jameis Winston will be reporting this morning. He's done with his suspension. You could imagine he's eager to get back to work. The team is two and one and Ryan Fitzpatrick has more than twelve hundred yards passing with eleven touchdowns versus I think now four total interceptions. So if you're Dirk cutter, what would you do? We certainly know that Fitzpatrick has a passion for football and that fire that intensity that competitive spirit. That's contagious. And the team has responded. The offense has responded. The offense is happy and productive. So now Fitzpatrick goes into a week of uncertainty with Tampa Bay after the loss on Monday.
