Just let go of the rope against tampa and then yesterday that interception the second pick when he's just basically threw a punting it from the end zone that to let go of the rope so i do think that's one of the knox offering colin has on erin is that he's great at from ahead but when things get top all right. We'll go get them next week. I think that is fair. Also jenna i be remissed by. Didn't mention on bizarre. I put wall monday. In the first segment. "The ones that you don't make. Yesterday we saw a calculated and patient Jameis Winston. I really believe that working with head coach Sean Payton in New Orleans is making him a better quarterback. And I'd love to see that mandate, potential here in New Orleans is unbelievable. What he can do? I mean, Jameis adds an element to this football team, and this offense, the Drew Brees just couldn't do last year. James had a he launched a depot 55 yards to the under Harris for a long touch, and I'm like , hey, I don't think I saw Drew Brees here that one time last year. James throwing 5 touchdowns is even crazier when you realize this fact. Most of the receivers that he was throwing to against Green Bay were undrafted. Only one receiver on the saints active roster against Green Bay was drafted. By the way, it's kind of weird. It was time Montgomery. He got drafted by the Green Bay Packers. He only got one pass for 5 yards. Every other guy was brought in as an undrafted free agent. The point is that Jameis Winston did that and 5 touchdown passes against the packers won their division went to the NFC title game last year. James had 5 touches on passes with basically undrafted receivers and didn't even have his best guy. Right now, Michael Thomas are best receiver is out with injury. He's coming back at some point. I feel really good and really excited by Jameis Winston. So another thing that's impressive about the saints season openers when you realize that the city was just decimated by hurricane Irma. The team currently is operating out of Dallas, they're living in hotel rooms, their families are out of school and they all got moved. That's another big story here is overcoming adversity. kind of reminds me a bit of when the saints were kind of trying to recover in the city of New Orleans is trying to recover from Hurricane Katrina. And the saints had a good year..

New Orleans Saints to Use Interim Facility for First Month of Season

"The new orleans saints have picked their starting quarterback jameis winston. Jeff duncan covering the team new orleans times. Picayune sports columnist. Let me start with that season opener given the weather and we still have some time. Here is their contingency plans. If the saints can't host the packers that opening weekend jeff dan. They're working on that right now. I mean the situation is so fluid as you can imagine in new orleans. The power outages catastrophic. The entire city is still out of power. And so there's so many other priorities right now in the city beyond the football game and we stopped the sean payton this morning. Big look like the saints are going to set up shop in the dallas fort worth area. Absurd least the next month or so and he mentioned that they'd even looked into possibly playing their home games over in dallas and. At and t. stadium. I think that's one of the ideas they're not going around with. There's so many moving parts here other trying to make roster cuts today get players out of there and they got families members all in the hotel move hotel so it's a it's a crazy situation very unprecedent.

"That jameis winston is likely to be named the starter. We'll talk about. Would you draft. Trevor lawrence or jameis. Winston we'll get into that also share some. Id thoughts later on in the draft. And that's the thing if you just want to hear the segment you want to hear the emails you don't wanna hear anything else. I'm gonna put a time code in the episode descriptions. Just read the description when we start talking about. Adp just go to that time code. Which will be approximate could be with with a minute. Sometimes we have Commercials and things like that. That makes up time codes for me so i do my best. But you don't have to listen to the whole thing if you don't want to but we want you to dave gay adam for trying your best. Thank you james. Winston tried his best and it looks like he's gonna win the job and this is according to rappaport all signs point to jameis winston being named the starter. This report came out on friday morning so there might be something more concrete by the time. People are listening. Would you rather have james winston or trevor lawrence at this point i'd rather have lawrence. I'm thinking long term for the entire season. I don't think there's much of a chance of trevor lawrence getting benched surly by comparison to jameis winston and the chances of him getting it seemed apparent after the first preseason game that james would be the answer there he just throws more velocity. He's willing to take chances with the ball downfield. He was particularly good with them against jacksonville. And that was with the receivers being tightly covered downfield. So i'm i'm encouraged by what i saw from winston. This preseason but i. I know jameis winston. I've been watching him play for several years. I know that he's eventually going to turn the ball over and have a bad game. And i'm sure that at that point sean. Payton will think about making a change at quarterback. Furthermore we also know that jameis winston will not get every single snap in the offense if drew brees was losing time to taste some hill. You better believe jameis. Winston will also lose time to taste smell..

Yeah i can't get there with you moose. Necessarily on on the saints optimism now earlier in the week when teddy bridgewater moose was named the starting quarterback of the denver broncos I had what i feel like is going to be a correct take and also i felt very strong about it. Which was you know. Teddy as the quarterback lowers the hypothetical ceiling for the broncos but raises the floor right. Because we know what teddy bridgewater is. I think that we have an idea of what jameis winston might be. And i know also during the broadcast you mentioned levy and radicchio. They're saying that. Sean payton told them that james is not gonna make all those mistakes in his system this year. It's like okay. Well it's okay to say that right. But i be shocked if james went out there and week one and threw three picks and was with the football. Like you said makes a bunch of bad decisions. I also wouldn't be shocked if like a year on the bench riding the pine and peyton system learning behind drew brees now as the starting quarterback where with lasix sick now apparently with a better with better vision literally better eyesight that maybe he turns it around and maybe he like shows like what made him the number one overall pick of the draft in and you'll a national champion at the collegiate level in heisman. Trophy winner at at florida state. So i guess it's tough for me to feel good either way. I feel like they're still so much unknown. Whereas with the broncos we know a teddy bridgewater as we've seen throughout the course of his career. I feel like we could get any version of jamison week. One this season and moose. I don't know if i'd be surprised. And if he's going to be turning the football over this year. I don't think the saints are built to be able to win a lot of football games. "Jameis winston qb one in new orleans as reported by adam schefter. Welcome to nfl live. It's been quite an nfl journey for james. The former heisman trophy winner entered the league. Is the number one pick by the buccaneers and the twenty fifteen draft. You go on to spend five seasons. In tampa his final season with the franchise. He became the first. Nfl player in nfl. History to throw thirty touchdowns and thirty interceptions in a season and then last season winston signed a one year deal with the saints the entire twenty twenty season as a backup throwing this eleven pass attempts all year which leads us to today with our own. Adam schefter reporting that he's been named the starter in new orleans. Beating out tastes hill for the job. All the latest on james is coming. Plus the reason someone here says the saints team is a playoff team and actually has nothing to do with the quarterback spot. We'll get to that much more. Meena kinds is here you see. Jeff darlington there. Ryan clark's in studio with me which is Scary for everybody at home. Because we're already crazy up in here depth. What more can you add on how this decision to make james. The starter was made lubbock guys look in new orleans. This was the direction that sean payton felt himself heading in the last few weeks and he got the exact thing that every coach wants. That's dealing with a quarterback competition. Got clarity in the form of an objective performance when james winston had that first half and second preseason game where he threw for two touchdowns over forty yards distance. That was all payton needed to know you. Did you feel to know that. He was making the right decision through jameis winston as his starting quarterback that deep threat that passing attack that vertical attack of more than forty yards the saints haven't had that in three seasons. So for sean payton. He got exactly what he was looking for in the perfect time to be able to name winston historic. You know what. I'm going to clarify a little bit more for jeff. Jeff is an extremely nice human. I am not jeff assaying. That got what he needed to see a definitive performance. No shawn payne. Got what he needed. That it was jameis. Winston and i know people think i come on here and i just wanna kill tastes hill but as the truth tastes them. Hills shouldn't be an nfl starting quarterback and if he's the starting quarterback of the new orleans saints they're going to waste this great defense once again in two passes in a preseason game james winston showed us something that we hadn't seen in new orleans and four years and that was with tasting hill. That was with teddy bridgewater and it absolutely was with drew brees. This is what we have been saying for year. If you can eliminate some of the some of the interceptions eliminate some of the mistakes. James can add an explosive elements his offense that we hadn't seen in forever. And that's what he got. He got exactly what he needed. Because his jameis winston now tastes him. Who can go do things that he does much better than he does quarterbacking. This is the best case scenario. You know davis is gonna throw interceptions like everyone's gonna freak out when he throws his first interception and say this is the old jamus. And i think it's worth addressing ryan. How your point about his explosive playmaking mitigates that to some degree because it comes with some risks. You know the thirty for thirty season. I know we talk about. I do think it's worth pointing out. In the two prior seasons he had thrown only fourteen in eleven. so it's a little bit overrode. i've always thought to is. His interceptions in tampa often came out of desperation. It actually that's board out by the numbers. I saw a really interesting chart from tej. Seth at this morning pointing out that more than just about every other quarterback over the last three years james's interceptions have come in situations with low expected points like third and longs ak was throwing them out of desperation. So hopefully that means he's not going to be as desperate this year and again even if he is even who throws more picks and drew brees which he will you have to understand that some of that bad comes with the good in this case and that is the upside that you clearly saw on display in the preseason last week or see everyone talks about. Kyle shanahan sean. Mcvay all these offensive minds around the league. People don't really talk about sean payton. In that way as much there could be. I think a little bit of pain that wants to prove like. I can remake a quarterback. I've still got this about me that allows me to be in the elite minds of the offensive world in the nfl. One he is in mind. I mean we absolutely. But i think you have a guy like drew brees. People sometimes place everything on him to accuracy the intelligence the work ethic and they don't really point to show him peyton and say you know what we're teddy bridgewater. The new orleans saints were five no with tastes him hill. There were three and one. And i believe that ego you're talking about show. A was why he loved tastes him so much. Let me show the world. I can make tastes hill a quarterback. Well now he gets to show the world that he can bring jaimes winston to heights that he never reached and the reason. I love doing the show with me. Is we often think the same things you did. Mean is much more intelligent. I so when she bears that no fourteen. Interceptions eleven interceptions. Now people can get off of that thirty interception season and remember in three games last year. Tom brady had eight interceptions point because it was restoring bag and they changed things and so. I'm looking forward to see jameis. Winston that's right and by the way guys sean. Payton you talk the validation that he can get through james winston. It's exactly what you just said about the bucks last year. This is a a quarterback who is primed for being remade. I think it was brett far. Who one said that. If you throw that many interceptions it means you're really good because they left you in the game for that you have. If you're gonna throw thirty picks they must have kept you in there for reasons. Which has a really good opportunity quarterback. I just wanna hit the painting thing really quick as bringing a good point about his offensive mastery. There's a reason. Why jeff and ryan were saying we haven't seen the ball aired out in three or four years drew brees used to throw it. Downfield what we've seen so far just in the preseason granted in a limited sample size it reminds me of the saints offense from like a decade. Goes it champagne is coordinated just about every kind of offense under the sun. But i think we're gonna see some of the concepts we used to see with drew brees and i'm excited about it. That should have saints fan. Salivating and waterways kickoff by the way for saturday's preseason game between the saints and the arizona cardinals at the superdome was moved up to one. Pm eastern to avoid the weather that's caused by hurricane ida just upgraded to a hurricane by the way. Let's get more nfl news with jeff. What's the latest going on around the league in handling.

"Those two things and at quarterback can you lead a room with men i now. I think we're actually fair to jameis winston. We're actually fair to him. The fact that he was accused of sexual assault while in college and whether it was title nine or the actual criminal justice system like being accused of something and it never going to trial. Each shouldn't actually necessarily be mentioned or be part of some sort of negative. Look at who you are. Sorry that's the way that's the way we're supposed to view the judicial system. He he wasn't he is innocent. He has never been tried. Lend loan to be proven guilty. But it's impossible and this kind of his argument along time ago hours lawyer argument a long time ago. It's impossible for that that not to cloud your judgment of who he is. He had the crab legs thing. He had the inappropriate comment when he was at at florida state. He had the off the field deal in arizona which in and of itself feels creepy and hansie but if you do factor it in with what he was accused of though never tried for let alone proven guilty for when you factored in. It's reasonable to go like. Wow this guy mess off. The field bad decision maker. Kay he goes to new orleans sits for a year and not only beats out a quarterback beats out a guy with sweat equity beats. Beats out a guy that makes more money than he does and beats out a guy who oh yeah by the way tastes meals white so before you come at sports with your thoughts. That deshaun watson was passed on by the chicago bears because the bears inherently they had some underlying racism. Just know that that's not actually the way the football works they miss evaluated to sean versus mitchell. Trubisky it happens happens more than you like to believe that really smart people that love football watch guys workout. Y talk to doctors. Talk to coaches do their own evaluations and they miss and they miss an end. Look tampa new of james's off the field kind of nuisance issues. But because of his talent his football acumen he was the number one overall pick and he's a winner and guys followed him he was he was the number one overall pick and after they part with him. He's going through. The steve young vinny testaverde reclamation project sort of year year off if you will and he comes back and because of his work and because of his skill and because of his refinement. As as far as there hasn't been a whisper of anything off the football field he won the starting job over taste hill. That's an unbelievable thing. That's a remarkable thing. Taste a lot of money a lot of money and he's made a lot of money for For years because new orleans has believed in him. I think tastes. I'm still gonna play. I think he'll still play that role of slash but ain't got nothing to do with the color. Your skin man. Can you help me win football games. Can you do your job. Can you lead men. Are we better with you on the field as opposed to anybody else in the football field that narrative you've been you've been told still exists in the nfl. The question about the the black quarterback and i that's not how anybody actually thinks in sports. It's just not it's not and it's actually a good thing. It should be celebrated that we're way past. That and i'm intrigued to see what james can do. Can you think of a guy. That's got the lucky horseshoe. Any better like look. Tampa was a bit of a mess but they did. They gave him dirk koetter because they felt like he was their best possible avenue for success and by the end of the run they clearly had talent. They're not just cameron bright. But obviously the talented wide receivers and brought in a bruce arians. Who lets his quarterbacks asses quarterbacks to throw the ball downfield to take some chances then he goes to new orleans and a great and he had to sit and learn for year. But you're sitting behind a hall of famer and your play. Collar is in the conversation the best play colors in the history of the sport. James got a great chance personally. Anybody who's gone through the failures of their own career roots for somebody to have a great comeback here. This opportunity was earned because in the judgment of his head coach. Them better chance to win. Which is what it's been about for a long long time. And when guys missa valuate or evaluate properly. That's all that it's about jameis winston dramatically changing the narrative. And reminding you that. Tampa had plenty of quarterbacks that have flamed out and had success elsewhere. "Welcome to highly questionable pablo torre that is meena calms twitching in ways. That will probably learn about later. That's dominic foxworth. Who seems to be wearing one of those magic ibooks as a shirt. I think hugh bright for me to look at the camera directly. How good can the saints with. James is the starter. So i'll leave the actual football nuts and bolts averse to dominique amina. I just want to point this out. I hope we're all ready to call. Sean paid in a genius like in ways that we never have before because everybody has been trying to do the thing that we think jameis winston is going to do under sean payton's direction which is get under control and seemingly become a different person. You showed up to training camp with the whole like new job interview voice. And then he goes in throws like fifty yards through the air which no one has done in new orleans in five years. The bar in new orleans four arm strength is extraordinarily low but the bar for personal change is incredibly high. If you're sean pay it. And i think this is how this plays out. You get a lot of credit for james being better than anybody thought. And if he doesn't work out. I still think sean payton and then pivots to the guy that was supposed to make a genius in the first place tastes hill. Even though that that guy is only theoretically a quarterback. I consider myself to be pretty rational when it comes to the preseason i try to keep everything in context did not overreact but after jags saints week two when you had jameis winston. Throwing fifty yard bombs demarcus. Calloway marcus davenport. Basically dog walking the jags backup. Offensive line backups. And marcus williams flying around. I was on my couch. Like who who the safes are back. Which is ridiculous because this is the same team. They were a few weeks ago. It's a good team. They have really talented players. The guys i just mentioned are all good but it's a team that really lacks depth especially compared to tampa bay where they're wide receiver. Group is twenty players. I'm not exaggerating. I really think they have like twenty wide receivers on that roster who could start in the nfl so no the saints are not gonna win the division but if james plays like he did in preseason to against the jaguars they could make some noise our first of all your who that was utterly unacceptable seconds. All i mean james. I think that there was an argument at argument that i was making part of last season. That james should have been the quarterback last year because the turnovers are problem but they have an awesome defense in a ton of talent but the fear factor was not there for drew. Brees defense is going up against them. Had a much easier time because they were not concerned about the big play. The threat of the big play is worth a turnover every now and then you hit one every now and then even if you don't hit him the fact that the cornerbacks in the safeties and the d. coordinators are little nervous to blitz because they don't wanna leave you in one on one covers a little nervous to sit down and fives because they don't want to get caught on double move like that changes the equation for the defense. So if he can control the turnovers yes that'd be great but even if he can't control their turnovers. I'm not sure that this offense wouldn't be better with him. Out there throwing a few picks every now and then but also throw in a couple of fifty yards from time to time. I just want to point out. That feels like something. A defensive back would say if given a national television platform in which maybe you know what maybe some interceptions are good to throw. Has anybody thought of that for offenses. No way no way after last week. We watch shaquille griffin. I believe it was. He got toasted by marcus. Collie they don't wanna play jameis winston they wanna play tastes hill in. Dominique is absolutely right. When you have that threat of the deep ball of the explosive past light it does increase your margin for era when it comes to turnovers. Everybody is going to freak out when jameis winston throws his first interception this year. It's gonna happen guys. He's gonna throw at interception but even if he throws a few even if he throws more than obviously drew brees which seems inevitable. It's still the right decision for this offense because of the variance he brings you in the upside. I think the swiss army knife comparison for takes me. It was perfect because he can do a lot of things. Good ish if you want to know if you don't want to be out of maters through you wanna corkscrew only sweetheart very nice to swiss army things because you don't got other stuff. What other things other than the knife. In the corkscrew there was like a nail file. Sometimes little caesars. Oh there's the teeny tweezers that you pull out of like the very end is hidden away and you pull those out. So that's like the quarterback sneak. That's right. it's the little teeny little tweezers. How worried should pablo be that. His beloved fits magic won't be the starter in washington all right. I'm gonna talk about the story. Like an objective journalist because i interviewed rival patrick on espn daily and he said the following. You said that this is the best situation. I've ever come in this star. Turn listen giggling like a squalls. Adhikari on cert- yes. I'm old a reference intake. But that's what you're not buying. He he mr fitzpatrick he. How dare you peg me for an instinct guys. I'm sorry if having giggled enough for your accounting. Would i giggle when i enjoy. What's going on. And what. I enjoyed from ryan. Fitzpatrick is honesty. I enjoyed the fact that he said. Ben Simmons Trade Talks Are Reportedly 'Stalled'

"There is a report from. Cbs sports that the sixers could be preparing to have ben simmons in camp on the roster after trade rumors all summer. What do you think the chances are ben. Simmons starts the season with the sixers. So let's not clough what you saw. Ben simmons in the fourth quarter against the atlanta hawks with the fact that he's a uber talented player to just doesn't attempt shots outside of the paint so to couple. Those are two different things. So if you're feeling you trying to move him after that you're just not going to get the value play return. He's gonna have to come to camp and play value back up and when you do an extension with joel embiid. I'm pretty sure you talk to him. About the future of ben simmons and so you bring them back to camp you start the season woodham. You hope that he plays remotely like he was playing last year as he became a defensive player of the year candidate as he can't flirt with triple doubles. There's so many valuable thieves he can bring to the table. Then if that if in win that value re elevates. That's when you try to move him especially for what they're going to be asking for in

"But orleans defense is not something to be played with and james switzer. Sean payton coming together not something to be played with. I'm confused yeah. I'm so so he's gosh godly man. I haven't been working so long and it's just been such a long summer that maybe maybe so so what we're saying is what what what we're saying. Is that the new orleans saints a really good the new orleans. Good enough to beat the tampa. Bay buccaneers twice last year's hard to beat a team three times. Unless you're the pittsburgh steelers and you're going on to win the super bowl and beat the baltimore ravens three times. A two thousand eight. But i digress. Okay and so. Now you're saying that jameis winston is going to open the season by beating. The green bay packers the same green bay packers were in the nfc championship last year. The same green bay packers that that have to be win. Win the super bowl or buzz this year. Aaron rodgers last year. And we're not going to say that. Jameis winston could be the quarterback of the future. I think this is exactly why. James winston is a new orleans saints. This is exactly why. James winston took a one year deal last year to learn under drew brees to have this opportunity to compete with tastes him hill for the starting job in twenty twenty one. Because this is the place with sean. Payton that understands how to groom. Quarterbacks understands how to protect quarterbacks which we watched him do with drew brees the last three years. We saw him do it with teddy bridgewater. Two years ago. We started doing time. Doing with tastes hill for four games. Last year. jamie's wizard is the future of the new orleans saints. James wants it. Plays well enough to beat the green bay packers week. One is james. Winston plays well enough to make this a playoff team to have this team that is competing with the tampa bay buccaneers. Why wouldn't he be the franchise quarterback. Why wouldn't you do. That was the heisman winner that was draft number one overall that was a pro bowler in in his second year. Be the guy. Here's what child miss last year. Tom brady during the three game. Stretch had eight interceptions. That's not tom. Brady like that's not what he does. But that was risk. No biscuit erin. Dessel bruce arians wants to do so. What did he do at that point. He changed things. They became a different team. And so for some reason. We can't listen. I've made the james jokes. I can't watch k- wait to watch the thirty for thirty with jamie. Do many interceptions as he down. That's going to be a great episode. That's gonna be a great documentary. But it's also going to finish with jameis winston finishing his career as the starting quarterback of the new orleans saints and that starts in two thousand twenty one. Yeah i tend to agree with our see in from the standpoint of this is his last shot. Let's be real. Like i talked to jay missed during training camp of two thousand nineteen his last year with the buccaneers and he said he said all the right things about how playing having biron left was as his offense coordinator one of the two black coordinated offensive coordinator in the league how that was going to help him and how he felt he understood that he was in a pivotal year. And what happened a year later. He's watching his his old team. The team that drafted him when a super bowl with tom brady like he understands what's at stake. I would hope based on what he said to germany following that really good piece that aired on sports on all that stuff a few weeks ago he gets it and let's let's think about it. I mean the guy had surgery yet. He had lisa surgery. Jamie's can see james guy. I've ever can see social. You wanna see. The nearsightedness has gone. The astigmatism is gone. Here's what a lot of us are missing excuses for that. You said i'm confused. You're on your head a little bit. You know timid trepidation. Here's what a lot of us are missing. It is nearly impossible to be a franchise quarterback for a long period of time and have extended success. The people we think about you think about tom. Brady's of the world you think about the aaron rodgers of the world thinking about the drew brees of the world. So you say the rare like the upper echelon of quarterback and then you go to people who have instant success early successor. Year-by-year success thing about the jared goff's of the world. They get paid that press still trying to see what he's going to be right at this point at this point where we stand right now the new orleans saints and james winston arnold position to win based off their defense within in the last night we have last year. Was the number one defensively. Nfl number one and number one scoring offense number one in takeaways health teams under sixteen points. A game you've got dogs on that defense. That may not be there in two or three or four years all of a sudden all the greatness that we're seeing with the new orleans saints right now you may not have that kind of leash in two or three or four years. We'll james have a great year this year. I believe he will for all the reasons that we stated. Will he do well next year. Maybe but when we talk about franchise quarterback that conversation is reserved for the few the proud the marines marine. They see what you're getting into conversations that people go coats that people opportunities to sit to to get hall of fame bust. Those were the type of names that you mentioned. You know you forget a guy like joe flacco who played for an extremely long time with the baltimore ravens and was able to get a huge deal. You forget you forget. Guys cam. Newton who was in carolina and to me for a time a period in his life cam. Newton was also a franchise quarterback you forget ally manning that ben rothlisberger that philip rivers all of these dudes were franchise quarterback so understand. What you're saying about drew brees. Is that what. You're saying about the aaron rodgers in what you're saying about tom brady. Those dudes are different. No one is saying okay. Let me just say no one. I am not saying that because of this transition because of this opportunity jameis winston ends up being a first ballot hall of famer. That's not what i'm saying. When i think franchise quarterback what i think is james. Winston was on a one year deal. Jameis winston has to sign another short deal. That james winston can play himself into getting a long term contract with the new orleans saints. That don't mean he gotta get josh allen money but it does mean that he has to have the type security that says you know what you are quarterback right now and the next year and the year after because you have shown us that you can lead us into the future. I'm not projecting jameis winston ends up having this career so resurrected by this. We forget that he thirty interceptions. Two years ago what. I'm saying his jameis. Winston can put a stronghold on this position and become the quarterback of the new orleans saints. That everybody knows that that they wear his jersey's that they say you know what each and every year james winston gives us an opportunity to go to the playoffs because no matter what we say when you're drafted number one overall you have talent when you're drafted number one overall. You have a resume. Will you have success in the league at some point. You've shown people you can do it but it's about getting in the right spot. I think the new orleans saints like you say for the next two or three years to right spot if he plays well then he does get an opportunity to be the quarterback of this franchise an issue of what you said. There's is some of those names you mentioned. I get like gold jackets. Like that's different right but the different astronaut but some of the other names you mentioned right the big bands of the world. You mentioned the joe flacco of the world. Those guys either one or two super bowls right talk about franchise quarterback to be there for five. Ten years super bowls. And i don't think james is taking this team two super bowls. And that's why yes. He's not in that. Upper echelon is not gonna be the franchise quarterback super bowls winning them going to them cam. Newton named that. You mentioned you went there right joe. Flacco won all these things. Big ben wanted jameis winston. I don't know if you can do right now. In new orleans. So here's what i've seen with new orleans. I have seen teddy bridgewater go five now. And then he goes to denver and he's in competition with drew. Lock like we've seen sean payton do some things with qb's right we've seen it. And when it comes to this competition between taste mellon james which a lot of people tell you like. Why is this even a competition. Because you know what at least you know with james. You can get five thousand yards and thirty five touchdowns it's on him to prove that he won't also throw the thirty interceptions to go along with that. This situation is tailor. Made for him as are said to come in and solidify. Yes i get it now. I can be that dude whether it's short term long term. Deal whether i win the super bowl or not at least with me. You know we have a chance or at least you believe we.

"Feels like friday. Bart scott you a little bit of news for us. It was something man something about. I think somebody's about maybe bossard dom is talks about. Always be careful with Brady greater shape of your life. Why is that is because usually means that that cap numbers getting high. And you know that you could be on deck now. Reportedly ezekiel elliott restructures contract. You create six point eight million dollars salary cap space. Great that means anglada. Maybe trying to make an offer for a guy like gallup but what they're using means is that takes all your guaranteed money your contract and push therefore and you have no more guaranteed money was does what is suppose you as a free agent or as a player under contract following year like i said before i think ezekiel elliott is in line for that same demarco. Murray thank you for your services but we gotta move along here because you're no longer a top five back in his leak. Well wait a minute. I thought it's a good thing when you restructure deal but it but it takes away your guarantees so that layer protects. You may have later in your contract. You don't have it. They use this compromise right because it's faked salary cap money because all about accounting right. So that means they move it your salary your base salary into the form of a signing bonus are they gonna cut zeke elliott check right but they do that to create space. Because they're gonna do the counting on the back end juicy that exposes you as a free agent later because now they cut you. It doesn't hurt their cap anymore. So i'll tell you man like his salary cap numbers high. You gotta be christian mccaffrey. You become the highest paid player on the highest paid player at a position. You've got to perform such a high level because in this game you think about the law diminished returns. Comes at the running back position faster than any other spot. So why should i tell you. I told you that about a week ago. Everybody looked at me. Like i was crazy. Listen zeke elliott is not the future. This team is dak prescott. What to tell you what i tell you about. When you pay your quarterback you start losing pieces in the piece that you can afford to lose. Ezekiel elliott. Because you're gonna find a great running back in the second round. Hey you can go. Train for kareem hunt. Brigham in there. You don't miss a beat all right so we'll see what happens in dallas but the picture forgetting that this when is having is when it happens. They'll forget that i said it. Somebody else's take credit for dominance. Okay meanwhile to it. We get back to the quarterback stories all around all thirty two teams. We have found. There is a story about each quarterback or quarterback competition. So do do that. Evan wilner comes back. And we're gonna play a little quarterback roulette funny how that works we'll dak prescott bounce back from injury. I think there's going to be injury route of season. You don't get healthier during the season that he has his latte like namie. One person that came into the season they started to have a hurt shoulder hurt on arm and they got better when you plant seventeen andrew luck. No cam newton no dak prescott. No does he make you do the season. Yes is he going to be effective enough to lead them to super bowl. No because that that showed that arms going to become a problem and leg is a problem right. And that's what i showed if that's not what the question was does he bounce back from the injury and my answer is yes he does. He bounces back from the injury. He does play this season. He shows you again the player that he was well. He deal with some nagging nagging injuries and stuff. Of course he will. Cause every quarterbacks gonna deal with that especially a guy like him but really bounce back yes seven minute. The buffalo bills will josh allen. Win the mvp. No i think he's gonna be in the running he's gonna get some votes. I mean russell. Wilson has yet to win a mvp. I think matthew stafford is going to be the mvp because you talk about. He's gonna explode on the scene right because how many people really really watched you know matthew stafford that wasn't lions fans or real fans of that division right. He's going to surprise you with just how talented he is. He's just talented jameis winston. He's just talented as aaron rodgers. And i think the rest of the league is going to start to realize that. And he's going to have a bit of a renaissance where people are going to start appreciate him and he has a run that if you can go on a good run for the next five years. He can put in hall of fame compensation renaissance. Yeah i mean it'll be in the conversation or mvp win it. We be a hell of a season to do it. Then at the.

"It's hard to see the big picture when you're so close to it but then when you have to step back and you get to learn and also like listen. Let's not think that all situated create equal like like we talking about ranked hannah hill. And why the the tennessee titans are potentially a super bowl contender. Well he was an outcast. Al-qaeda other miami he was a backup to mariota. Yeah he got the opportunity so you gotta plan accordingly. You gotta look at places. Like if i'm if i'm a quarterback that's gonna be on on the market next year. I'm looking at denver right. I'm saying we noted teddy bridgewater is a no pun. Intended is a bridge quarterback rice on become that. He's become that he's a guy that was once. Seen as a franchise quarterback he's probably younger than james. Winston are right there at the same age james wesson but we know that the narrative for him has already been kind of you know written in. I me say in stone. But it's it's in bridgewater. Kinda did this like what did have to unseat somebody until the jets and then went there but you know. He had the injury injury. Sam darnold leaves. The jets goes to carolina. He may be the quarterback and and that's the thing like he's not one that's going do this because he's going to be the starter there right i. That's his job. But sometimes quarterbacks when they're young thrown to the wolves doesn't workout and you said like take that breath it seems to be the right thing he also by the way also by the way. If you're going to go somewhere and have an internship year or redshirt year with a guy like sean payton. Exactly if you're going to go somewhere go somewhere. Like mariota went with jon. Gruden right but he offered a quarterback guy but he also went to a place where he thought that it was a vulnerability at the quarterback position because they love their car gave him an extensive. Derek carr contract. It's like four years old riding jon. Gruden continue throw him under the bus so it was a great place for. Mary ought to go and trubisky. You know maybe just maybe met nagy's not that good of a coach and maybe him gone with deyb all. He's gonna learn how to be a quarterback and now he's gonna have an opportunity to have a second act right now. Too many quarterbacks have a second act right jamarcus russell. No second act right. You'd think about ryan leaf. No second act you think about all the guys they didn't have a second act is because they couldn't humble themselves enough to realize that it's not just on the organization cup but it's on them to go home with yourself. Regather yourself so a lot of credit to jameis winston because it had to be humiliating to go within the same division and sit there and watch your team win the super bowl come in there. They're they're looking to look how much better we are without you. Same division to right. Yeah and now. He gets the start against them. Yeah how you like me now. When tom brady re retires highlight me. Now we will certainly find out keyshawn. Jay wills zubin presented by progressive insurance august. Join us on the goodyear hotline fake dinner. All right. so real or not real coaches that will be at their current school or program next year after this season. So real and not real. Jim harbaugh at michigan. Not real. i mean he. He's gotten their chance. They should go ahead and fire him today. And save the agony of of waiting till november thailand. Dial line. nobody's supposed to have fired. I you know. I've got a question though. Because bobby paul does spit hot fire. Yes why. why wasn't he fired earlier. Like why this year want to any other is poor years because michigan manages. Its football program. Like like an art museum they. They don't look at look at it the way the rest of us do that. You actually have to win and beat your rival. What they did was cut his contract and that will almost make it that has made it apparent that he'll probably lose his shop after this year. And and i. I know what we also have five six seven years ago when when he when he was a super bowl coach and a championship coach in the nfl. But he's been he's been an abject disaster in michigan he was the most heralded hire other than urban meyer of the last probably eight or nine years in college football and i i just. I'm not really sure what he's done. and he shouldn't have been retained he was but the question wasn't should it should have been retained. The question you asked me. We'll be back next year and the answer is no as a miskin resident. In a major disappointment harbaugh can come. There and one is beat ohio state. I mean bars really low right now let alone in the playoffs. Yeah how 'bout how. 'bout keep it within within about four touchdowns okay they get a handicap low-hanging real or not real. Let's continue how about we go to nebraska with scott frost. Will he be at the current school in twenty twenty two so let me make sure i understand israel. That'll be there or real that he'll be gone. I'm not sure real real. He'll be they're not real is that he'll be gone. Okay okay. I was i was. I don't have i don't i don't have this game at home odd to play along. I don't think you'll be there either. You know everything about jim harbaugh. Just move on over to scott frost favorite son The only difference was scott. Frost led his team to a national championship at nebraska. Four years ago or three years ago when he left central florida he was the hottest coach in the country. Three the two hottest coaches back then were chip kelly and scott frost. They're both really doing great now aren't they. I don't know how scott for us survives. He has a new he has a new. Ad former player trove. Albert's and the ncwa snooping around so go ahead and go ahead Call the moving van amazing. I'm old enough to remember nebraska's a national power was. Would you call hawks move. You're going to do this again. Yeah people you always grab just keep playing the game. We real or not real paul finebaum right now. How about at an lsu. How long can we live off of a national championship. Well it's always it's always twenty nineteen for lsu fans and part of that reason is that ron just. He uses confidence. "Nfl history and his first five seasons nineteen thousand yards. Seven hundred thirty seven yards a whole bunch lead. Nfl in passing yards. If y'all remember in two thousand nineteen turned the ball over but he led the league in impasse yards. Buccaneers had a top ten. Total offense and yards and four or five seasons with winston. Starting these are these are things that we're talking about page sean. Payton saw firsthand. He's all these things first-hand because they're in the same same division so when you think about what sean payton was filling. He was getting when he got jameis. Winston you mentioned emotional maturity the emotional maturity was probably the one piece one ingredient that jameis winston was missing when he came to this new orleans saints team and that's probably the only reason why he didn't command top dollar as as a free agent free agent talent so when i look at the whole entirety of this situation tastes them. Hill wasn't paid to be the starter when he got that big contract. Tell you some hill was paid to be tastes hill for what he represents to the new orleans saints which is the utility man. They expect him be the same guy that he's been since he's been with the new orleans saints. Which is a guy that comes in situationally. As a quarterback can play different positions can even possibly at the time if you need so play special teams for this team. He will continue to be that utility guy for this new orleans saints team and due to his compensation i don't think tastes them hill. We'll have any problem considering that. His role is solidified. The way that it is with this roster and with this team lavar with all of that. I just don't know that. Sean payton knew that jameis winston could have the growth emotionally. Did joyce decision making that. Starting quarterback agree right agrees. Oh tastes in hell. I believe was a little bit more than we just. We're going to pay you to be a utility guy. You're always going to be utility guy. I think it was a safety blanket. I think it was if the jameis winston experiment does not work. Then we do have a guy that we can put out there as our starting quarterback and i do believe they're going to be times we're tasting hill is still going to play that sean. Payton at times is going to mix and match. But if i'm going to start one or the other. I can't go to jameis winston off of the bench. I can't reverse those roles. James has to be my guy and again i. It's not just the well. The emotional maturity kind of covers everything because it does affect the decision making on the field and he was that gunslinger. He was always trying to make the huge play. Even when the huge play wasn't there to be made. And i can't still can't get over. Like i remember the guy who ate his fingers. Winning thing does but.

"Max your up. I this concern you yes it does. I mean look. I don't like preseason period. I wish they'd get. Because the only thing i care about in preseason his please get hurt on my team right anyway. I want to get him. And so the fact that he's not playing reduces it minimizes injury risk. And if you ask me. Do i want more ready to play or do i want to make sure that leg is healthy because we saw pretty solid mid pack quarterback even behind an awful offense line with no saquon last year. Then he hurt his leg and he was awful. He was terrible right. I'd rather have him healthy. The thing that bothers me. Most though from what. I've seen with the giants so far as i was picking them to win the division. I'm not moving off it yet. But i just assume over time the offensive line will improve has not looked like it. Has you know it was picking who to win the division. What do the giants are the second best team in the division and the second best defensive team and so while. they're not as good offensively as the cowboys. They're much better defensively. Same thing on the other side with washington. But i thought they'd be better off the offensive line. Still doesn't look fixed. it's still like really bad. And that's going to hurt saquon which is going to hurt daniel jones and also makes me think it increases injury risk during the preseason so so where i come out on it is i wish they had fixed the offensive line. They didn't but my main concern is daniel. Jones is health. So it's not the end of the world that he didn't play a lot in the preseason. Now i'll tell you this before we came in here. And i read this and i kept reading over and over again. It bothered me. Because i kept asking myself. These questions is daniel jones or starr. Nfl no it has daniel. Jones earned a stripes to not playing a preseason. No has he ever made a pro bowl. No but i'll tell you two things that made me think why joe judge has not played daniel jones in a preseason right and number one mex- they have these joint practices. Now where they're basically like. Having two extra games but without tackling. And i can only assume that gioja just saying okay. I'll actually valid chick right now. I like what i've seen from daniel jones in these joint practices so he doesn't have to go out there and preseason number two. You mentioned the offense alon. They were second last year in sacks allowed with fifty only with houston and. I can't remember the other team right. The washington football team right. So why am i gonna put daniel jones out there with his office alive and i'll say to add to that. There aren't timid. Golladay is not out there. Playing these stars are not. they're playing. I'm thinking my mind joe. Judge doesn't want to shoot his confidence before the season starts. So that's why. I stand on this but emma m fan of it. No because i feel like daniel jones. Those reps right. He's losing time to get better as a human being. But i do understand certain side of it from jojoy joe judges. I brought up during during the draft. And dan orlovsky and stephen a boy they jumped all over me. I wanted the giants to grab one of the start like if justin fields fell right. Grab him and my point. Was you have competition and daniel jones. Maybe not yet. Let's see if justin feels really is great but the difference between daniel jones and justin fields. Is i think daniel jones has the potential to be a good nfl quarterback. I do not see greatness in just in fields. He might be a great. Nfl quarterback that's the difference. The giants are taking a guy who might be good investing years of time in developing him. Not protecting them with an offensive line. That's the real concerning part all right. Let's talk nfc sleepers europe. I hear harry nfc sleepers molly. You're probably waiting on this. I'm going to cowboys. I'm gonna go with the cowboys. Because i'm not worried about the cowboys. Offense you america's team what i've said you. We mean by sleep. He the cowboys can make. Hey we're in the last the last time the cowboys pls. When the last time the cowboys had been relevant always relevant because they will molly in a football sense on the field. When the last time i've hear about it's going to be there years the same old same all right so i'm gonna go with the cowboys because i believe in their offense but i'm gonna take it a step deeper. Dan queens new defensive coordinator dan. Quinn has learned from his mistakes in atlanta. I'll think the cowboys can go far right. And when i'll say his mistakes when he was in seattle he had a front four right. He had a defensive line. you didn't have the blitz in atlanta. You didn't have those guys. But outside of grady jerry. So what did he do. He continued to send for tommasi sent three. I had no idea what he was doing that. But teams carved up atlanta defense now the learning curve. That is okay. If your system isn't working you have to innovate. You have to adapt you have to plan b. c. and d. right if dan quinn can do that in dallas. Because i don't think they have that d. line right now like he did in seattle. But you want to know the strongpoint. These defense the linebackers. If you can utilize these guys send these guys. On bliss let these guys with off the edge and wreak havoc and just create chaos. I think dallas cowboys jumping. Can i just follow up and ask him wanting so when we were talking about dan recently. I said the same thing about what he did with the legion of boom etc. And i forgot who was the analyst and they flipped back at me and said well. Anybody could have done that with the legion of boom and those players so that doesn't prove that he's a top notch defensive coordinator. He just had a ton of talent. Well i can agree to a certain point. Because when he when he was in atlanta right. Dan quinn didn't have the guys that he had in seattle so he had to change up his defense. You can't just sit there and sit there. The defense be a sitting duck. Inlet office coordinators and quarterbacks pick you apart that's what he did not do we seen that when he lost his job and roy. Moore's became a the head coach in uber. Who's a dc in with the jets. Now when they took over we seen a different defense. We see them. Started getting pressure on the quarterback because they were blitzer linebackers they were blitzing. Gazan a secondary. They got innovative. They were doing things that they probably wanted to do. But dan quinn. Didn't sign off all of that. So i'm just hoping he's learned from his mistakes in atlanta it can bring this dallas defense to life. You gotta be hoping though. We don't know we don't know who he. I only live about a hope theory. Theory here the sleeper in the nfc me is arizona cardinals and they are in the most division in football agree by the way one of the most brutal divisions. I've ever i can remember in football like all four teams to me finish first or last. I wouldn't be shocked but zona could finish to win that division. Probably not but but i learned murray before the shoulder injury when they were running a lot was on and after he got hurt they stopped wanting them as much right because this he's exposed to dangerous and they fell off and he stopped rolling the balls effectively because he had shoulder injury right. Who's coming back for arizona this year on defense they bring in shay. J. watt low. Now it ain't j. J. watt from the old days and one of the three or four front seven players. I'd ever seen like all time great. Inner sanctum of the hall of fame. Great defensive player so he's falling off but he got a long way to fall. And at this point he's still better than most everybody really good chandler jones handler. Josie didn't play much last year. Chandler jones coming back you just added. Jj watt n chandler jones and. Now kyle shoulder isn't hurt. Who else did they add on office. Aj green aj. Green to the andre hopkins. I'm just saying this team there. This team could win. The nfc west could happen. And i go in with the west is breaking. make the playoffs. But they're not gonna hear you. I hear you. But i could say the same thing about the rams without camakers i could say the same thing with san francisco. Jimmy gets hurt and freelance and ready. I can say the same thing about seattle without a defense. You wanna know you have to just about anyone. But here's the difference those teams that you that you just name have been consistent doing it. Yup having went in arizona trajectory right. They've done it longer. So you have more trust in them. I'm just looking at right now. They took that arizona team. Said here's. jj watt chandler. Jones got big names. We've got to see if they can still do but if we were going to say. Nfc east. i would've probably said washington. Because i still don't think you could say cowboys can be asleep. Chase young defense. They might be able to do something..

"My show. I take all the spn. Look how excited. They offer me. Mr stephen smith the is hosting jimmy kimmel tonight so make sure to check that out. I bet she's actually a little nervous. He doesn't get nervous about anything. That's a pretty big deal. Thanks a lot molly actually at all. Tell you that you know. I've been working with stephen a very long time. Sometimes i feel like i know him better than he knows himself. Stephen a. it's all love. I know you were a little nervous but you in late night. I absolutely love it. I have the full thing. Dvr and i will show some clips today but it's it's a good fit for him. Absolutely harry douglas. Here max kellerman. I'm molly karen. Rose gentlemen also market spear is going to join in just a second. We ready to do this day. Missed james was ready to do. This also showed up showing all is upside that incredible arm and the downside diminishes Taking care the football. Winston looking like a heisman trophy. Winning number one overall pick complete and touchdown passes of forty three and twenty nine yards to second-year pro. Marcus calloway as the saints defeated the jacksonville. Jaguars twenty three to twenty one on monday night. Football winston completed nine of ten passes for one hundred twenty three years without an interception bolstering his candidacy to become the saints new starter. Meanwhile rival in the quarterback competition tastes. I'm hill when three and one is a star while brees was injured last season hill. Pass for one thirty eight and a td a tip from the saints. Always updating a resume were constantly. all of. This film doesn't disappear. You're always trying to put your best foot forward in. Create that value for yourself a teammate as a player that has a role whether it's in the kicking game or whether it's on offense or defense whether it's for depth i mean that's something that you know. There is a sense of urgency for these guys football game. So long man so i was just. I was so excited to just get opportunity to start and lead the pac man. It was a sighting in The rhythm was great office line. he's phenomenal And we had guys like ways making plays all night you. You gotta love that. I'm not gonna hair. It was fun seeing him out there right. Talk with thirty thirty club but the the bad thirty was gone. It felt like sean payton was helping him take care that so tell me that. Should we have ever doubted that. James winston would beat the starter about molly. And i'm glad to start the show that you addressed the jameis winston as famous famous. Because that's exactly how he looked last night. Now to you. Max and you know. I've been waiting on this all night. This if i tell you a pigeon can pull a mack truck. Don't ask me no questions. You just hook that bad boy of max. I told you famous. James is the best quarterback for this team. And we've seen that last night. I love the rhythm that he was and he started out. I complete continue. Our slant marquess calloway right. The in his yard out on third down to tight in dany throws a swing pass towards win back then. Not only that. He deciphered coverage last night. Look at his first touchdown. i'd say to route combination. You have a deep over out by the receiver. That's opposite side of marquess. Calloway right so that satan is playing quarter cut quotas coverage on the opposite side if he'd cuts that overall. Now you have the pulse. Wide open jameis. Winston threw a perfect past. Look at the play. The touchdown the second time cover zero. What did he do. He deciphered do. You have a cut split by marquess callaway. What does that leave you. Nothing but space to work that fate rob work that we call it a fate touchdown jameis winston terrific kits by marquez. Calloway through by jameis. Winston mex- a. You should never ever doubted james. Well that's that's funny. You say that because he required that kind of performance to lock up the job member. Sean payton said that before. The third preseason game. he's gonna make pick right. Yeah and it came down to against a running back wide out. Hybrid wildcat type quarterback the number one overall draft pick the former national champion. The former heisman. Trophy winner a guy who led the league in passing yards. It took a full season backing up. Drew brees plus game to of the preseason where he had to be virtually perfect. Even the one incompletion like it was like. Whoa go ahead. I know you wanna talk about that. I do down right in the reason why they was in third along because they got to false start penalties right and what i love about. Janus he was looking at it now. He wanted the rifled down feed. Sean payton and drew brees was in his ear. Basically saying don't do james jamie joe. Dr davis overberg jewelry showed up over. Here be careful. But that's but that's one of the things that sean payton is talking about. That's one of the things that jameis winston is talking about that he learned under drew brees but right down it took a even the one completion. Perfect yeah it took a perfect performance by miss in the in the second in the at the last moment he could lock up the job in order to lock up the job overseas. And that's you have to also include in that case them comes and he's not playing with the ones that he's playing with the twos the threes and he has value outside of the quarterback position. Like if james can't play quarterback for you good for nothing for you is just an insurance policy tastes. He'll kill that most quarterbacks in the nfl but not but not taste. Some hill tastes him. Hill can help you in a variety of ways. And so james has the manage going in and it's great at. Tell me what takes them. Hill is great. He's very good at a lot of things. Very tell me what he is. great at. Don't tell me what killed jason great at the football downfield lasts needs crate. Just seen it last night air it out. Well let me tell you this max right. It's not about how you stop colombo how you finish no that you don't want to finish to change the way you say that because you out james wisdom before he got to the same stature if you want to know who elston started career off very well can't peyton manning. Oh no no no no no we gotta bring up for a bowl to former number. One overall draft picks right. Y'all let me let me let me drop the number two now. Peyton manning his first five years an elite who fall over twenty thousand yards one hundred thirty eight touchdowns one hundred interceptions completion percentage sixty two quarterback rating eighty five point nine what was jameis winston over nineteen thousand yards a hundred and twenty one touchdowns eighty eighty eight interceptions. Completion percentage sixty one point six. Qb ratings better eighty seven point four. It's not about how you start. Mex- harry sometimes you know. Sometimes you don't go through. Adversity is how you come back from it. He winston went through adversity. He sat behind drew. Brees he starting job five years into his career. And those numbers that you just cited. It is so much more of a passing league when quarterbacks are expected to do.

Free Agency 2021: Biggest Winners and Losers From Day One

"Who's the biggest winner from day. One the biggest winner from day one already told you it was. It was a my intro. You're listening great question. Jonnu smith out. It's cam newton. Well that depends kenyans a starter for sixteen games. That's right that's true. It's yeah okay. Potentially find jonah smith. Donald smith big contract with the patriots They invest heavily in him. You like this for him i do. I think you know Obviously the quarterback is the concern. But this is the scenario especially with the move that they made that we look for in fantasy as tight end could be the leader of the pack in terms of targets and opportunities and so look cam was not good in twenty twenty. If cam does start sixteen games in two thousand twenty. One greg olsen. During a five year stretch was pretty awesome of the top tier tight ends of the guys that we did. We talk about what he was in the next group you know. And so from twenty two thousand twenty sixteen. Greg olsen averaged a hundred eighteen targets a season seventy seven catches Decide one thousand yards and five times. Johnny could do that. One season estimate put them right around a top five tight end. Greg olsen was great and not only was he great but we also saw from cam newton in that stretch that he could give you greg olsen. Who could finish as a top eight tight in five straight seasons and give you a number to wide receiver in four of those five seasons three or four of those five seasons whether it was. Steve smith or kelvin. Benjamin and even ted ginn one year. So that's interesting. I'll afforded talking about that on the show tomorrow on the tuesday morning show and then of course we'll have a whole bunch of more news items to react to. Hopefully we'll get some kenny golladay news at some point on tuesday or maybe it'll happen later on monday night as record this at about nine fifteen eastern. Who's the biggest loser from day. One the biggest loser from day one on asking these questions before. I told you that we were starting with these egypt's before the show The biggest guys they ryan tannehill johnny smith and Us down smith and corey davis They're going to have to struggle to replace those guys Davis probably more. So the jonah just from the standpoint of what he was last year with his production number two receiver sixty five catches nine hundred plus yards and five touchdowns. So we'll see what they do in in in that in that regard but i think Tannehill you know. I had him as the number eleven quarterback. I dropped in the thirteen after today. Just because i think it was close between in my mind. Joe burrow and tom brady put them behind both those guys. Okay how 'bout jameis winston ryan tannehill right now. It's soom jameis winston as the starter. I still go. i think it'd be messy. You know. I can't situation we're taking those not blaming So i was hoping james would go someplace else and tastes hill. Would still be the guy with maybe a rookie or somebody. Young that they could groom continued. Just gonna to get you know too much of the mill package of james as the starter and if as milton starter. Davis is gonna play very much so it just feels like it be messy situation oil. Who do you like better. Corey davis with the jets nelson agholor with the patriots. I think adler is going to be bad. I don't trust the situation. You know i mean he. He had so many big. Plays for the raiders last year and he was so good for derek carr but he did that on eighty two targets. I don't think he gets eighty two targets with the patriots. He's going to do the same thing. So with what cam does running the ball with what jonah smith brings to the table with. What the rest of the receiving corps will look like if julian edelman on the team if he's healthy Nagla is going to be A guy that's not on many fantasy rosters middle of the season whereas corey davis could be the best receiver for the jets. I don't know if that's going to be the case. But i would take davis by far over niagara.

Stop with the Cam Newton nonsense

"Season officially upon us. We've got a lot of lot of stories a lot of rumors lot of things floating out there that may not make people happy. It's the long dark Patriots podcast. We're going to talk about everything and anything related to the Patriots particularly their quarterback situation, of course always rate review subscribe all that good stuff regarding Patriots podcast with Nick cattles nickel be back for another episode later on this week. I'm John zanis filling in and the story du jour or do week or whatever you want to say here appears to be a Cam Newton wage. His name is resurfacing and the Patriots quarterback starch and Greg. I can't I can't think of Anything worse to happen right now if you're a Patriots fan right now and and all you want is New Hope. Okay. This is a new hope the possibilities are endless blank canvas money draft picks Capital. Theoretically the Patriots could do a lot of different things some of which could be very exciting and interesting and I can't think of one thing that would just throw a wet blanket all over over all over that any more than bringing back Cam Newton. Yeah John, it's it's weird. I I started hearing the chatter on all the Sports Talk radio station a week and I'm like what the hell is going on? Like it's basically like Cam Newton's become it's similar to some of the debates that you hear in politics like where they just like Stoke fear in people to generate interest in their shows and things like that. It's like, ooh now Cam Newton's the boogeyman that like who they might be bringing Cam Newton back just to get people to react like people people need to settle down and this is why you suck. Had to be SJ this why you listen to this podcast because you know things like how last offseason when everybody was going nuts about Saddam was a guy in Cherry stem is going to be this and Jerry system is going to be that and he's going to be the next guy. You know, what did I tell you from January of last year over a year ago. I told you that he was not be the starter that there was going to be some sort of Veteran competition. So, you know, welcome to coming here where you where you get well informed you don't have to worry about the hysteria. You just get straight facts and and what's going on. So here's where we are. We Cam Newton and this is something that I've been talking about since the end of his Patriots season, which is it's always been a possibly that Cam Newton could come back here. It all depends on what happens with the market and who they end up with the quarterback and this and that but for anyone to suggest the Cam Newton month Is going to be re-signed being the definite number one. That's what we want starter here next year. That's not going to happen. It just it just isn't in and here's why. We've also sort of touched on this but just to sort of reinforce the point. I think what happened this past season is the Patriots realized and and look we've talked about it that there wasn't really a plan back to check understood that there weren't enough chairs for the quarterbacks and somebody was going to be left could have been Jameis Winston could have been Cam Newton could have been Andy Dalton could have been anybody. It happened to be Cam Newton and they said they'd make it work. It did not work and what I think John what happened was and actually I know this happened the Patriots realized after the Cam Newton experiment that not every quarterback can work in the system and that's not to say Cam Newton still not capable of playing good football. I think that he is do I think it could be better with a better Supporting Cast absolutely I do and do I think God Part of the problem last year. Yes, but at its basis in this scheme, you need a quarterback who sees the totality of what's going on in the field. You need someone who's going to win before the snap. You need somebody who's going to see something on the defense say that's this is about to be a bad play here. We're checking to this and Cam Newton outside of you know, he might he might have alerted a few plays here and there but not even close to what we've seen in and look I'm not going to compare him to Tom Brady. Nobody's going to be Tom Brady, but The Baseline Jimmy Garoppolo would have been a lot better. Jarrett Stidham probably would have been a lot better in terms of what he could even when Jarrett Stidham got in John. We saw things like Palm Coast him would change things that the line that's the Baseline in this offense. And that's where it starts. The number one tenant in this offense is don't run any bad place when the quarterback is incapable of doing that for whatever reason that's that's strike. Number one strike. Number two is understanding after the snap. What's going to happen? What is the defense going to do? What is that going to mean in in reaction time? Like if I see the if I see the free safety all of a sudden rotate from too deep to single single life safety. I should know like that who's going to be open, but great. Let me ask you real quick. Cuz everything you're saying makes perfect sense, but did you need a year of did the Patriots need a year of Cam Newton to know that he wasn't that guy? Is it did you think he was that guy walking through the door? Is there anybody really smart Personnel people out there who thought? Oh can't might be able to adapt to this Patriots dial offense. It didn't seem sensible fit. Anyway. This is a guy who's always had accuracy problems who who plays a totally different style of ball. I mean, I don't know why you would have brought him in the first place. If your idea was to offer a patriot style offense

Turnovers Doom Saints in 30-20 NFC Divisional Playoffs Loss to Bucs

"Bill. I just want to dive into it here. Because there's a lot to get to after watching the bucks. Beat the saints. Thirty to twenty so new orleans had been in tampa bay twice this season in week. One about four hundred years ago and then again in november. So what was the difference in this game vs those other two. I really simple pablo the saints. Just didn't protect the football. In the two regular season games between these teams the saints won the turnover battle. Both times there are plus three in the week one victory and then one up in the rematch. Tom brady threw five picks across those two games. Only seven in his other fourteen games. That really felt like the saints had his number and they were gonna have to flip that to win in new orleans. Well they flipped. It didn't turn the ball over the saints coughed up. Four times including three interceptions drew brees. The bucks turned the first few takeaways and two touchdowns and use the fourth to wrap up the game and kneel down. It's virtually impossible to win a playoff game. That sort of margin the saints will just sloppy in this game. Mean breeze could have thrown four or five picks. He threw an awful interception under pressure for the first one and on the same page with alvin kamara on a scene route for the second interception. The third bounced off jared cook. Who also fumbled away a completion on a drive where the saints were looking at. Go up to scores. They lost the ball and proceeded to give up seventeen unanswered points to end their season. So clearly the bucks had a formula of sorts for stopping breeze in it seemed like every aspect of this game. But it's not just that they stopped him instead. They made him look straight up terrible really often and i'm wondering how did they do that to that degree. Well i really think that todd bowles bucks defense. Look the tape from last week's game against the bears look how drew brees was playing. Look at how pal those receivers were moving and just didn't think there was anybody in that lineup who could reliably win against man coverage or beat them down field with their speed. This was especially true. After the saints lost deonte harris who had two long punt returns early in this game to a neck injury the saints did get a long touchdown but it was not with brees on the field. It was the lone snap for one jameis winston who came in and use the same trick. Play the bears ran against them last week. For a long touchdown coming across his sanders they handed to them. Refers goes to jameson mega man. Wide open trade smith at the twenty five fifteen ten five and a touchdown saints and jameis winston. What a touchdown pass against his former overall when breeze on the field it was pretty clear at the game plan was to dare him and his receivers to try and take shots towards the sidelines and get downfield and the game plan worked the bucks used heavy doses of twists and stunts upfront create pressure and then just smothered breezes receivers. I honestly it really felt the only reason. Sean payton didn't bench breeze for winston on the last drive. The game is because it was probably a last few snaps of drew brees his career.

"Dominic. It is eleven twenty seven pm eastern. And i m almost done tattooing. Cuyler murray's name using a ballpoint pen across my chest. Go forward i'm with you. Want me wait why you finish your being supportive in a way. That bill barnwell. Why usually talk do right now. Isn't i think like he would be reasonable and discourage me from doing this. But you're a far less responsible character. It feels. I'm here for a good time now longtime just today's episode so i'm fumbled fox ready for sublime tattoo it. Let's have some drinks. Whatever you wanna do. Pablo dominique. Foxworth is a writer and commentator for. Espn he played seven seasons in the nfl at defensive back and he's espn dailies. fun uncle. Well what i wanted to do before we get hammered together is talk to you about this play. That is inspired all of this ink to be spill both across my chest and across the country. Because i think it's the play of the year. I think what we saw in this bills. Cardinals game is the play of the year. And it's worth noting for posterity that the bills had just one said gave right before it happened. Josh allen had thrown. I think the pass of his life to step on digs putting buffalo thirty to twenty six with just thirty nine seconds left. The snap man looks to his left. Choirs left side. Then go to the point steph. Both touchdowns catches a touchdown pass from josh allen. What cuyler murray then does rolling left. Let's hit pause as his bomb is launched from midfield in his dangling in the air. Because you are a cornerback in your blood in your soul. How do you even approach defending this sort of a play as db well. They did it wrong. Obviously they were all going for the ball which you don't necessarily want to do in that situation and trae white one of the best corn illegal that he was trying to catch it which any coastal tell you. Bet it down. So everyone's out there trying to pad their stats in the thing that i would normally do. Not ideology happens as a particularly big receivers but tall receivers will jump well over the arms can't catch a bomb like that with one hand if you do best one for you. So that's what they did wrong going for the ball in also trying to patch stats with an interception i. I was particularly happy towards the end of that game because on get up last week. I said that stefan digs is unstoppable. Man coverage way. You shut down passing offenses in this league. We all know it. It's tight man coverage you can't do that. Against stefan digs. He has been created the most explosive plays of any receiver in this league against man coverage. So he caught the game winning touchdown man coverage also said in that same segment the andrea hopkins is the best contested cats receiver in the league. He's one of the top receivers in a league in winning contestant catches so he can get open but the scary part about him is. It doesn't matter you put it anywhere his entity even if you're close to them you're buying he might bring it down and embarrassed boom so win for me. How about that back to back dubbed up.

A who you are, this argument reminds me and every time we were in the locker room. Talk about who's the greatest running back of all time. And I was like. Are we really going to have this conversation is Barry Sanders, but then all you would hear because sports fans are prisoners of when they were impressionable, those younger years when you were still buying sneakers and listening to music before you can go out and try and break curfew those years so when I say Barry Sanders I kept here Jim Brown because of folklore and him playing against those little tiny liming out there and I would hear Emmett. Smith because Smith had the three rinks brother. I don't WanNa get into a folklore, conversation or championship deficit conversation because that conversation had fourteen accomplishment not into vigils. We asked me WHO's the greatest. Running back is Barry Sanders. We asked me who's the greatest basketball players. Is Michael. James Lebron. I'm not sure. Welcome back to speak for yourself from the crib presented by Andre, Marcel while he joined once again by the bar errands. It heals spikes. Let's move to New Orleans off. We're Jameis. Winston is trying to start over after a disappointing run in Tampa, performer top hick may not have lived up to expectations, but he's still got plenty of confidence in himself. Maybe a little too much competent, some say in a new profile and bleacher report. James didn't hold back. Explain it well. I know what I'm worth. And I know day in and day out without publicly coming in saying that historically I'm one of the best quarterbacks to play the game. To Kill? You like this confidence James. Set aside. Do not like this Cup I, don't. I don't I don't like this statement. I love this statement and this is the reason why. You look at what he was able to do. Last year he knew he was not going to be based at all and when he was able to put up numbers the eight month in NFL history when it comes to passing in a single season and like I want to talk about this, and this is something that people really sleep on. He talked about starting earlier this offseason. Changing his diet, which he turned into a beating. Also lost seventeen pounds. Also take it another step. And when he got lake surgery so now, is he the first quarterback timbre? Do that took off season change probably not, but my point is that them saying is that it takes a certain mindset to be able to adapt that type of theory. You have to have that mindset to be able to make everybody who's looking at the outside. Look it in say. Nothing matters to this young man, because only the only thing that he wants to do is to play football, and that's what I see. That's what I hear by him. Be In new, Orleans especially up on the drew brees to really be able to see okay down. Why could see why I took chances? And why should not chances so I love what me and I'm sure? Every teammate on the saints love is addition. would be on this one. Listen I I feel like his I felt like his resume does enough talking for him. It speaks for our. You're talking about a national champion winner and in College, the Heisman Trophy winner in college, a number one overall draft pick in the national football. and has thrown for crazy numbers in the league, and some will say all crazy numbers of interceptions for some strange reason I guess. Maybe it's the crab legs or something that has happened with with James Winston Eaton, Eaton, WS, or whatever I listen, but we started to act as though James Winston is not someone we should take seriously. It's almost like he's the running punchline of a joke. You say Jameis Winston and Let's start laughing about it like I. Don't get that I. Don't get why it turned into that, so I like James Winstons Flex right now. I'm Affleck's saw how many of these starting quarterback in the national football league had the resume that James. Winston has good dude that starting in front of him as a first ballot hall of Famer no doubt, but doesn't. Doesn't have the oil historical resume that James wants then does so listen I, understand where he's coming from, and sometimes the best thing for somebody to do is to look in the mirror, and remind themselves of who they really are could be the major difference and deciding point for James going to New Orleans and.

New Orleans Saints agree to terms with QB Winston on one-year contract

"Yahoo Sports is Charles. Charles Robinson reports at Norrland's is finalizing a one year deal with Winston. The former buck coming off a five thousand one hundred nine yards season thirty plus touchdowns three interceptions and immediately eyebrows. Raised the idea that Winston would stay in the division. Go to the Saints. Backup drew brees. He enters the mix with Tatum Hill. Who IS SUPPOSED TO BE? And maybe still is the heir apparent To breeze so it just leads to a lot of unsolved mysteries in its own right greg your thoughts when you heard the news that Winston may be and quite possibly is headed to the saints I I wasn't shocked because I I what I did. This hashtag setup into your own comet with a big way. Why why you made your Greg sounding you often. I got it. I wasn't gonNA say anything but then mark reacted to it and I can't help myself but go ahead. I did this Saints Twitter Pot. Podcast just knew that way wolf as podcasts. Him into my buddy Adam and they were saying they were hearing. This was going to happen before the draft so they got sources on the inside and and they ended up being proven right and it makes all the sense in the world of your Jameis Winston and makes sense of. You're the saints too. I think you get a chance to get Jameis. Winston in the building for a year probably drew brees his last year. We haven't heard any financial terms the Jameis Winston deal you know was reported on before the Taste Hill extension Came out and the money that was involved. That extension came out. Part of me does wonder. Is this deal for absolute sure does did Winston know about that before he he came determines but either way he? He should do the deal. Because if he can somehow impress Sean Payton or if he can end up getting in the lineup and being as backup like Teddy Bridgewater What better place to possibly learn because damis Winstons still has a lot to learn but he also has a lot of talent a guy that throws for five thousand yards can do things in the NFL and like there's no better place to learn. Other than to undo. Breezy and Sean Payton.

"Then he's concerned with Ashley not losing get into some of his performance issues on the field. James Wizard does not read the field. If you watched any videos I show almost every game. There's multiple instances where he does not see wide open receivers. He just doesn't even see them. And that has got to be frustrating. Not only to the coaching staff. But to the receivers who get open. He makes too many poor decisions. Most of his interceptions were bad decisions. If you watch the breakdown did evolve as interception for two nine two thousand nineteen plainly. Obvious that he just makes a lot of bad decisions he runs outside the pocket to Monte gets happy feet I think he was sacked forty seven times years like that or the ridiculous amount. A lot of those were due to him running into pressure now. We've got a lot of people on this team that I really really like. And they're going to cost us a lot of money to re-sign Shaq Barrett Jason Pierre Paul Goals thin sharp param. You know. There's there's a whole list of people that we we. I would really like a C- comeback all of them to be honest with you. All of them James Wisdom if he gets a thirty million dollar contract we are not going to be able to sign everybody. If you read a Jameis Winston and we get a cheap free agent or draft a quarterback we'll be able to keep everybody on this team except Jameis Winston so we're looking at keeping James Wisden losing a couple of good players or eject and Jameis Winston keeping everybody now. Wisdom does not seem to have developed at all if you ask me since he his rookie year to now he looks like the same guys still same quarterback making the same mistakes when he was a rookie. I mean he's the worst quarterback to ever throw five thousand yards in a season. I think is what seven eight quarterbacks have done it in the NFL. James twisted his aunt among he is the top. He's the bottom of top. Now we talk about drafting a quarterback and how much of a crap shoot it is. It's not with Bruce. Arians every rookie quarterback Bruce Arians has ever drafted has gone on to be elite level. Quarterbacks were talking about Andrew. Lock Ben Rothlisberger. He's just. He's got away with drafting quarterback in fashioning rookie quarterback's his he was brought here. He says in large part because he thought he could develop Jameis Winston. I don't know if he feels that way now. Especially if you see his press conferences. He's counted down on Jason especially after that last interception that in the season. We know that Bruce. Arians can develop rookie quarterbacks and he had a hand in drafting deciding to draft Andrew. Luck and Ben Rothlisberger. So the guy knows what he's looking for if areas handpicked a rookie quarterback. I think it would be a smart move and this is the only opportunity we're going to do this. Keeping Winston another year on a franchise tag means we could be prolonging the agony and we could also run areas. Outta town. Doing them for the bucks. Are well geared for a rookie quarterback. I mean we got a talented wide receiver. Core good tight ends and established line and a really good monsters defense. That's what a rookie quarterback needs. Winston had that when he came here and might hurt his development. But we've got it now. It'd be the perfect time to have a rookie quarterback come in to fill those shoes now. I brought up the whole stuff about James Winstons character. Not because I want to say that he's a bad player should be in the NFL Blah Blah by any of that mess is because of this out of thousands of injuries. Thirty two kids were chosen aware their favorite players. Football Jersey run out onto the field and had a super bowl. Fifty four in Miami We had a guy in Saint Petersburg named Eric. The boy was chosen to go out there and do that when asked what his favorite player was. He chose Shaquille Barrett's Jersey with Tampa Bay buccaneers Shaquille Barrett is bringing fans to the buccaneers. People like him. They liked it. He performs well on the field like his character by like his personality. He's not a troublemaker. You cannot say that about Jameis Winston. I'm here Dame suisses quarterback for five years biscuit decides to go out and check Barrett's Jersey's only been here for a year I mean that's not a testament that's more of a testament to how good check Barrett is than it is the James Wisdom but Jamie's Winston is not the kind of player that's going to bring people to the buccaneers. He's exciting to watch. But it's mainly the same reason why watching a car wreck is exciting to watch Anytime I talk about football with strangers I tell them about booking. Here's fans always have to defend wisdom always every single time that's the first thing they bring up and it never fails that they bring him up in a negative light. Nobody ever goes all Jameis Winston and I really like him. He's a good quarterback God bubba. It's always man. What are you going to do with this guy? He's A. I don't like him because of his past behavior. Whatever Winston is not bringing phase of the buccaneers fan base needs causing fans to have to defend their fandom. That gets exhausting. But it's not just new fans that wisden's hurting. He's divided the fan base. He's divided this fan base right down the middle like no player ever seen there are people that can't stand. Winston and there are people that you know they back West. Of course I think the wisdom backers are being much more quiet now because of the performance this year but there is a division. They're in you. Don't want that in your own fan base with all that being said. We're GONNA wrap this up. Here's my number. One BIGGEST ARGUMENT IS WHY. I think we should not recite Jameis Winston. This question was posed to us by somebody on twitter and it is stuck in my craw ever since but is do. We think that we could make a run to the playoffs with Jameis Winston at quarterback and I would have to say no and that's the number one reason I don't think he could string together for five straight games of winning and you know when he gets the playoffs. It's a whole different beast. You have to be on point. You have to be sharp and if your quarterback is not playing his best you're GONNA lose and you're out and I just do not see Jameis Winston making it through the playoffs and to the championship and winning. I just don't see it. I don't I don't think I've ever seen him do four games in a row where he's played well dull now so that's my number one reason for we should not keep James West. They're done. Those are the cons well. I think you've just convinced the whole fan base everything. Well done Ralph know. I hope you're happy. You got some rebuttals over here. Good idea can we talk to you man conversation? She's already man until this is going to be off a fight after we can got your APP and everything. Let's go with interceptions for us. Because that's what you started with just going chronological order for my five pages of notes. She chooses right. I could see the pin. Was Taylor. Okay so the interceptions not the only thing costing US Games true we the kicking. That's true defense at times. So yes interceptions three games but how many were also on the kicker three two for sure okay so between Janus Winston Jameis Winston. Three Games for the interceptions too with the kicking that accounts for an have one of our losses. I'd say at least four on our secondary before they got their crap together sell again. It's not stamos. It goes back to my point. There were other reasons that we lost besides Damis again. The interceptions wouldn't be an issue if we were winning. We wouldn't be talking about we. We went and say we lost three games. Because the James's Interceptions. No one would give a shit. This is a contract year for JD. Mess and I did expect him to show up a little bit better than he did. However we also had someone in the two thousand eighteen season that was in a contract year that played like absolute garbage that we trashed the whole off season. When he got a contract in that was Donovan Smith and he came into twenty nine thousand nine hundred. A phenomenal season turned it around. Point Molly. That's a good point. The character issues. Most of what you named was when James was in college. How might dumb shit did we all do in college? Yes but the age of eighteen and twenty one we also some railings. Stupid stuff. There were since he's been in the NFL. He has never happened in two thousand fifteen or two thousand six. I don't know he's got. He's got a kid now he's married. That changes you. It does change him to now. There were two things on the field where you said the one at the Carolina Panthers game where he was arguing with the rough and went on the field came back. And then the fight. That Guy Mike Evans suspended to me. I don't have an issue with those. I like the passion on the field and character issues off the field. I just don't give a crap about as we've talked about before. They have no bearing on what happens on the field. I think it's a fair point what you were saying with the accountability. How can Brasilia's not hold him accountable for these thirty interceptions? Yeah we'RE GONNA give him thirty million dollars a balance somewhere in that area after doing that. It's just like oh my gosh. So the that. That's a hartfield swallow. If you're preaching accountability right but it was with Donovan to write. And you're preaching accountability by there's no other way to hold him accountable other than firing him. And is that really as far as you? WanNa take it if you're a BA. If you're decent light if you're thinking about the future of the franchise the salary is a big number but unfortunately the salaries in the NFL are dictated by the market. They're not dictated by windsor losses. Necessarily so the blocks are kind of between a rock and hard place as far as that goes because there is a range where demons is expecting. What's reasonable in the market? And what he could probably get with another team you know he's probably going to get. I mean he's going to get twenty six dollars minimal. I mean there's no getting around that he probably would get thirty million dollars at another team. Took the Cleveland or jets. Well he's dumb or the panthers who knows what's going on but the price is also maybe driven down because of how many free agents are that's true that's market could fluctuate downward no way. This is a bad year to be to be a quarterback free agency. I think right and I think in that way. The buccaneers have a little more leverage over Dima opponent scored one hundred twelve points off of turnovers and we still won seven games. Wow reading the field. James obviously has issues with that. That's been a knock on him that you've said for years but he plays this year so we might as well try out those new evolve. If we signed a new quarterback to replace Jamie's who's to say that they won't have interception problems as well. It is a hallmark updated Winston. I'm not saying that but it is also a hallmark of this offense. So who's to say that a new quarterback would do any better in that regard? You draft a rookie..

"Episode for today? We're doing the debate pros and cons. James Winston has if you haven't got enough of this already though this is what we call beating a dead horse. Well what we're GONNA do tonight as we're going to one of us is going to take the side of why we should keep. Jameis Winston with the buccaneers resign hill. The other person is going to take the side of why we should not resign. Jameis Winston We've decided beforehand. That molly is going to do the pro. She's going to be why we should keep Jameis Winston resigning. I am going to be doing the contest. Why we should not keep Jameis Winston and resigning? We have not gone over anything beforehand. And the way we're going to set this up is one person we're gonNA flip a coin. See who goes first. One person whoever goes first gets to give their full argument. Next PERSON GOES GIVES THEIR FULL ARGUMENT. And then we have a lot of time at the end for rebuttals and we will let the audience decide who who was who won the debate. Because he doesn't WanNA listen to a married couple vicar. It's always so uncomfortable with my parents argue. I'm just like Oh and they argue nonstop everything. You can't even say a sentence without dilma nitpicking nitpicking. The semantics in the sentence. It's it's insanity. Casey. Don't get enough of that at home. Were GONNA JUMP RIGHT GUARD? West Abuse for lucky? Why Visa Punches Thrown Ralph my cry now just one you. This is not. This is not a necessarily our opinions. This is my opinion I was GonNa wait till the end to San well. We both actually really thought so. Wait wait till the end of the PODCAST. You'll find out what we each actually thought. And whether it coincides with what we said we're going to be like politicians. They never come clean. Do you have a coin flip now. We broke gotta coins anywhere them again. We gotta a Golden Pocahontas Coin. Here Julia whatever. Hi I'm GONNA flip it. You call it. Her face is going to be heads. Eagles Tales. If if you win you can say if you. WanNa go first or second elected for yes. Sorry yeah call it in their heads. Tails my goodness. All right. All deferral that you get I hang it. We all know that this quarterback class this year especially in free agency is so deep. I don't even WanNa talk about the college free agents because I don't even know any of them. We don't watch college college to drafts. Yeah the drafts drift giraffes so we have a very deep class of free agents that could be replacements for James Now. If we can't resigned Jane is I would take Philip rivers but other than that. There's no one in this free agent class that would necessarily be an upgrade that I think has a realistic chance of coming to the bucks. Tom Brady I. Don't think is going anywhere but doing Glen Derby is. It just came out today that he is staying in the League. I don't know if he's staying with the saints. He soon too. So he's out of there so the next best one is Philip rivers and to me. He's not an upgrade over. James says he's a slightly older James Winston who doesn't have the rapport with the team. And he's got the age on. Jameson. I mean. He's a lot older. They're players Teddy Bridgewater. Who might be a service of a replacement but again doesn't have the rapport with the existing team? That I think is really important. And that sets James Apart. Then as opposed to other quarterbacks there's Marcus Mariota there's chase sanyal case Keenum Chat Henny Drew Stanton Colt McCoy Ryan Hill. Any of the F. No one's an upgrade. No one's better than Jamie's as far as that's concerned aside from the free agents. I'm not a real big fan of drafty. Although we did draft Amos. I'm not a big fan of drafting rookie quarterback's because they're so rarely successful of the forty six drafted since twenty fifteen when James was drafted. Only twenty four actually started last season. Now that is any game whatsoever so if they started one game there on that list fifty two percent of them. The list of the starters is as follows who Marcus? Mariota Jameis Winston. Sean may onion. He started for the Vikings one game. Trevor Simian Jared Goff Carson wentz Jacoby Berthet Dak Prescott Mitch Trubisky Patrick Mahomes Deshaun Watson Baker. Mayfield Sam Darnold Josh. Allen Josh Rosen. Lamar Jackson Mason Rudolph Luke. Falk cuyler Murray Daniel Jones Dwayne Haskins drew. Lock in will greer now. A lot of these are young guys. They haven't started many games there unproven. A lot of these were drafted in the last couple of years so she is good if we look back to three years from now. A lot of these are going to be out. It's just so hard to get one in the draft. That's going to be consistent and really last you. From the two thousand fifteen draft look out for players started in two thousand fifteen. I mean this year in two thousand nine hundred from the twenty fifteen draft. Marcus Mariota didn't finish this season as a starter. Jameis Winston Sean manion. Who Only started one game Trevor Simian? Who Only started one game? So it's very hard to get one. That's going to last in the draft so I'm not certain that we could get a quarterback either in free agency or in the draft that is going to be an upgrade from Janus and there are several reasons for that first of all being with the team since two thousand fifteen he's built a rapport with all these guys. If you look at our offense the roster here all the players that we've acquired since he's been here Rochelle Chris Godwin Oj. Howard Donovan Smith Alex Kappa Alley Marquette Ryan Jensen Pain Barber. Scotty Miller Bershad pyramid. I mean it's our whole offense. Basically that we've built around Jameis Winston and I just don't think plugging in another quarterback that you're going to get the same team and that they're going to have the same report. The Janus has built over the last five years a lot of the players. That are here now. They support him. Of course everyone acknowledges the interceptions are a problem but there are a lot of guys on this team that are behind him. That have publicly said that. They think he can win. That he's got what it takes to win lante quote. I see it in him. I know how great he wanted to be. I love to have him on the field with me. Shaq Barrett. We still believe in him as crazy as it sounds. We know that he can do it like you. See how many yards he had. We know we pass a lot. So you're gonNA have yards in. You're going to get like touchdowns you're GONNA get interceptions too if you pass a lot. It's something he can eliminate an. I know he's going to work to eliminate them but nothing with him changed at all during the year. Just got stronger and better. His believe his leadership like nothing wavered at all ever Chris Godwin. We Love Damon. That's our guy. He did also say to be fair. I'm glad it's not my decision. So full disclosure there Mike Evans said Oh man I mean James and I have been doing this for a while now. We obviously could have had a better season. If I was able to finish it off I feel like our connection is growing each year and he developed a relationship with Chris. Godwin now in connection with C. J. C. G. that we're all going to be deadly now. We're all going to be deadly. We need to be a little more consistent especially me and we can do that tune some things up in the offseason and we'll be fine now. The interceptions were problem. I'm not gonNA say that they weren't but I think that they in overshadow everything that he accomplished this year. He set team records for passing yards passing and rushing yards combined touchdowns. Three Hundred Yard Games passes attempted in completed so he had a phenomenal season as far as quarterback. Oh He's one of the best that we've had and the interceptions this year. I think are not an anomaly. If you look at his career in two thousand fifteen he only had fifteen interceptions twenty sixteen. He had eighteen twenty seventeen. He had eleven twenty eighteen. He had fourteen and twenty nineteen. He had thirty. So I think this is an outlier. The thirty interceptions rather than the new normal. Carson Palmer even said as much because he has the same thing in Bruce Arians system he said. It's a very complicated. It takes a quarterback about a year to get used to that a lot of times. There might be a miscommunication between the quarterback and the receiver and Carson Palmer experienced that in his interceptions. He had a career high in Brazilians First Year. But then next the next year his interceptions went way down. I think they'd perceptions are an issue largely because we're losing. Terry Bradshaw had something similar happen in his career. He had a season where I think he went. Twenty four touchdowns and twenty three interceptions and he said now when made a big deal about it because we won so I think had the bucks finished the season ten and six eleven and five. The interceptions would not have been as much of a focus. I also don't think genius is completely responsible for the results of twenty nineteen again. He had one of his best the best season. He's had aside from the interceptions. Statistically he did great and there were other issues with the team. While I don't think it's an excuse for things like the interceptions and all that there are other factors and it's not just the quarterback that wins. The game are running game again was not where it needed to be. We had injury is on the line. We had injury is with the receivers so I don't think that this the result of twenty nine thousand are completely on. Jamie's Brian Byron Left. Which was play calling for the first year? I think there were some growing pains there with the system and learning this system. I think there were growing pains there between the end the receivers. I don't think it's completely on him and my last point would be about Jameson. Pay There's been rumors that he expects thirty million and it seems a little exorbitant to people but I will say that the top fifteen quarterbacks in that NFL make between eighteen million and thirty six million thirty million is on the high side of that but no matter who we get. Whether we're getting a free agent or resigning. James says we're GONNA have to pay somebody and I just don't think we have any better options than Jameis Winston. There you go. Those are the cons for keeping Jameis Winston for the pro for the pros and cons to me. Well let's think about why we don't WanNA keep Jameis Winston. You brought it up and I'm GonNa make that the first point and this is going to be a threat throughout my whole argument the interceptions now James Wisdom has always been an interception machine even when he was a Florida state. We know that we knew that coming into it. But he's in professional leagues now playing with the big boys. He should be putting a cap on that and he should be getting better every years. Owing fewer interceptions that are not as deadly to the team. Unfortunately it seems to be the other way around throwing thirty interceptions this year..

Jameis Winston became the first 30 TD, 30 INT quarterback in the most fitting way possible

"Chavis Winston's future again on Sunday the season ended why him throwing a pick six on the first play of overtime in the loss to the falcons he becomes the first member in NFL history of the thirty thirty club at least thirty touchdowns and thirty interceptions in the same season you know the expression the enemy of great isn't bad the enemy of great is good Jameis Winston is good I don't think I'll ever be great if we were running any organization ESPN NFL team what would we want what attributes would we want in our leader to me its dependability its reliability I think he's high character I think it's important and but to me that's a fatal flaw he's been a week for five years yes AT a career interceptions without that dependability I think his ceiling is to be good and not great how sorry how does it affect your decision making at quarterback from GM standpoint when your do you have to look at what's out there absolutely I think it's the axiom Jason as you want to win for today and develop for tomorrow and again Bruce Aaron's took the job he was very clearly I'm gonna ride with James Winston on the make him better but at some point you have to say Hey you know what we have to react to what we're seeing so I wouldn't franchise him and the result would franchise in is who's going to pay him a lot of money coming off of the year they just threw thirty intercepted right that's the thing I I don't mean we're talking almost thirty million dollars on a franchise tag right so I mean I think they can get a deal done for less than that well I I would need to get the deal done I mean it's right for me my I'm not signing on a big jet one of the worst things you can do when you have your hand on the ball every player's turn it over and he does it more than anybody I can't rely on that even offer me a deal and by I agree to this a further as a former player I always felt like I was a GM you guys will hold me accountable if we pay him a lot of money we're saying that turning the ball over is

"Some interesting results pain. Every dog has its day and apparently sports books were able to buy back with their biggest Sunday of the football season thus far yeah tell you didn't capitalize while enough on that not the best. Sunday in it was it was a mess one one of those ones where you go through the car and you're like man I like this. I like this when I like this and they just don't make the cut and left a lot of money on the table and makes two of us. Is You watching coaching. We mentioned some of the bigger results clearly housing you root for the buffalo bills they get to the window at the Detroit lions as well as home underdogs and then of course Sunday night football we see the New Orleans Saints Cover Ver- as modest two to two and a half point underdogs but all that aside pain when you watched all the Games yesterday you went through some of the box scores and everything else as we do Monday mornings the good the bad and the ugly what stood out to you as some of the positive takeaways at least a quarter point of the season. Let's go the guy that constantly gets crapped on Jameis Winston. I thought he was fantastic. Obviously again needs to clean up. The mistakes still had the the massive brain fart late in the game which can happen but I think if you ask Bruce Arians eat like hey if Janus has like one w t.f moment every game. Would you take that I think the answer is probably probably s you know and aside from that one throw again. James was fantastic at the sixth deepest average intended air yards per throw in with that his completion completion percentage with four and a half percent better than expectation. He was accurate. WHO's officiant hit explosive plays your move that one pass and it probably was his best performance says a pro I think and when you look at geniuses performance clearly we know he's been surrounded by weapons. Tampa looks to speak figuring it out as far as they're running back situation relation that performance kind of the tip of the iceberg that we should have some optimism for James over the next twelve games I would think so right and we kind of came into the season and said hey this is is an interesting fit here with James who likes to be aggressive and head coach that likes to be aggressive if they can tone down the turnovers the offense has a real shot here and so when you're looking at this team two and two they blew the giants game missed field goal and I know a lot of the naysayers were saying something to the effect of they didn't trust James late so they ran the ball. Allah meanwhile there's an explosive town fields which to my Gavin's which set him up in the position to kick the game winning field goal so I viewed it a little bit differently early. I thought Tampa was going to be a team. That was going to impress the one team. No one was talking about in the off season right all of these changes at head coach and coordinators gators that were happening throughout the league. This was the one this was probably the biggest acquisition when you can bring in a Bruce Arians when he can add todd bowles to his defense who is the one that wasn't being discussed a lot about and I know in the off season. The win total was set at six. There's a reason it went up to six and a half. There wasn't sharp money but it wasn't talked about because they were still projected. It'd be one of the worst teams in their own division but I really liked what I'm seeing from Tampa right now. The ground games get going especially Ronald Jones the last two weeks as well. That's been a benefit and helped the offense to make a good balance but as long as James doesn't turn it over the scheme the style and the weapons are there for him to be
