"And you know part of responsibility. The violence in Louisville, JaMarcus Glover and his crew had a hand in that had a hand in killing people. Jack. Briana Taylor had a running car couple years ago on months ago, whenever it was at a rally car He's like, Hey, can I know JaMarcus on their date? Can I borrow your car? Yeah, sure. They found a guy shot to death in that car. So the call Briana Taylor, and she's like my boyfriend. I just let him use my car, and so obviously she wasn't charged. She wasn't complicity in that, but that's the kind of person she was dealing with here. And so you know what about JaMarcus Glover's responsible in all this, too? And I think that gets lost in the mix is well, I'm taking a quick time out. Wanna return? I've got That amount of early in the week, and it really good conversation with Dwayne Bride who's a community police relations expert out of Chicago. I know you've been listening, Lionel. But what about getting right? What am I getting? My big question is Earning his Ben and I want your side because you know you're in the community you talk to people is never a hard time understanding. When we say we want justice for Briana Taylor. What does Justice look like? Because last week there's a $12 million settlement. It doesn't bring it around back. It doesn't take away the pain and the heartbreak. I'm not saying that, but that's the fix in America. It's either prison time. And or money. The $12 million was because of the negligence, presumably that Louisville police in the Louisville City Louisville realized happened in the execution of this. No knock Warner this warrant. You can't send two cops to prison for doing what a court with a judge said they were allowed to do. Okay? So here we go. Here we go. The attorney general there, Cameron says. Do we want the truth? Or do we want the truth? That only our narrative who that didn't help yesterday? So let's start with the truth. The truth is Two police officers a falsified a police report. They first said there was no injury or harm done to be on a tailor. Not true, because you know, there's six bullet that entered her in very location. The second lie, they told was that they did not forcibly enter into the apartment, which we now know that they entered with a battering ram. So that second with second life third lie was, they said they announced themselves Now here's what's interesting we had. And I love American because we really like truth. Now we re pick sides. We like partisanship. But I don't care about that today. Let's talk about truth. The third line was this, They said. We're now ourselves, however, inside the apartment with Kenneth walking, Briana Taylor stated. That we never heard them announce anything after the shooting was done, But God gets on 911 crying like yo. Somebody shot my girlfriend. I don't know who it wass. If they had announced themselves, he would have said the police are in my house. So we have to believe that he never heard it. They interviewed the police department. 12 witnesses in the apartment building all 12 that we never heard anyone announce anything. Now there was one guy. Who stated in the beginning that he never heard anything. But after a couple of additional interviews directly with the police, all of a sudden his story change Now, if you know anything about police like I do in the black community, that guy bet I'm willing to bet money. Yes, some level of criminal history. He may have been dealing in Sadie's stuff, They say, you know, we need to change And if you don't weigh going, we go weigh on you a little bit headed. I don't agree. And I completely everything you said is on point blank because But but I I guess my point is, you know, we talked about the police reports like Wait a minute. She was an injured called we waited to call 911. He ca I totally believe that Briana Taylor, But specifically, Kenneth Walker thought that it was the ex boyfriend DeMarcus Glover, who was kicking the door in and not police serving a warrant. They didn't hear the police yell Police. You had one of 12. Witnesses say I heard him, say police, But just once. Now, keep in mind yellow once. Before they kick that door in 11. People that close the department didn't hear anything. And there was no body cameras toe on or they had body cameras. And they weren't on one of the two, which is also like you. Yeah, but But here's the thing, right? I totally agree with that, however, does all of that relates to a murder charge against Mattingly in Cosgrove. Oh, now that's the question because when when people are protesting to win and a burning Louisville down right now they want justice and justice is not what we talked about Justices. I want Mattingly and Cosgrove going to prison for the rest of our lives. What you just described to me is is negligence, probably in a lot of other things, but it's not homicide. Scott. I didn't give you the last mo hit me. Hit me with the last building. Oh, I'm sorry. I cut out the premise. I'm sorry. Here we go. Hit me with the logic, man. Here's smoking going. Here we go first. Let me say that. I'm not an attorney. But when I did a little research in lost in Kentucky Healthy fit argument does not apply to a third party. So, for instance, this Walker is who shot at the police. They would have been in self be fit by killing him outright. They did not do that. They kill Briana Taylor again. The law state Self defense does not apply to a third party so they cannot apply self defense to Briana Taylor. If they killed him. They will be justified by law. So why is the community angry Because here, it said that the law That shooter and died the gentleman because they broke the law. That's why Oh, guy. Ah Hankerson got indicted because he was so afraid he'd shoot a bullet through doors was crazy. Well, what's that? What's that guy doing? Well, he got indicted. Well, here's the deal. I have to believe that he was someplace different than the other two authors. He must have been around back for the side because he's sure through doors and right. And they're coming through the front door. So here's my deal when you have a series of live now I have to question everything. I want to see the ballistics report and see who shot Mattingly. I believe no Hankerson and his fear was spraying the whole building inside his own police officer. That's what I believe It's a possibility. It's a it's impossible because you know, even the round there was around, I think in brief foot That they said yesterday. But they can determine because you know bullets. They ricochet and they get in shape. And so they weren't sure it came from. But yeah, point could it could it have been friendly fire. The Cosgrove got hit by now. He says he saw that he saw the flash hit him in the leg on band. You know, I guess I until until science proves otherwise. I take his word for it, but you know, but but back to this difference that between you and the black community right now that we don't take his word for anything, because there's been too many lives..

"That they have been told could be hostile because it could have a dealer inside and whether he's violent or not I don't know. But they suspect that maybe if he's there, they knock, they identify they knock they. Then they took the door down the minute that door is open. Somebody in the dark shoots at them. Looking at it from their side, they're shooting back is one hundred percent as justified as the person on the other side of the door. Yep. This is at this point. What happened in there was not anything that you can change. There's no reform that will change that because you have two people seeing something from the both innocent, both acting rationally and legally on both sides. You have both of them reacting appropriately, and if you add, it was just a an little flavor here to add is they thought Brianna Taylor was alone. So they go into a place where they believe it's only Brianna. Taylor. Now there's two people in there and the other person is shooting at them. Now if you take this in the context of the investigation. They're trying to break up a drug bring here. They've already arrested jamarcus glover drug dealer. What's their assumption probably in that moment that and I don't know if there's enough time to really noodle this all out but that he is probably working with Jamarcus glover there too now that they know he's already arrested there. They're trying to get rid of whatever is in the apartment now there that that's not what happened but the bottom line is. He shot a cop and cops when they get shot are going to shoot back at the person who shot them. This is not this is not brain surgery here. This is very obvious and I don't even think you need to say he shot a cop because shooting cop is one thing. But when you're in fending for your life and you don't know it's a cop shooting anyone with a gun who is legally holding whose illegally holding a gun right is going to shoot back..

"How do you essentially do what the others what you accused them of doing to Briana Taylor. I don't. I don't think I don't think that that is. Honestly, I don't think that's that. That's a wise approved. No, you know, you do have people. It's part of a mob mentality. The protesters certainly aren't going to be that nuanced or that informed about how the law works. They just want their pound of flesh. You know, I get that is then you can demand your pound of flesh as long as you are doing what Lorenzo Johnson did last night. And let's hope that that does not repeat again. But the tragedy remains here that Kenneth Walkers that poor guy's going to messed up his life. Nothing's going to bring poor brown a tanner back or make her family suffer less despite the $12 million And I brought this up earlier, and I'll leave you at this point. The one person whose name has not brought up that much That should be is JaMarcus Glover. So when you talk about you know, when you talk about profiling and all these things that You know Jamarcus Glover was the boyfriend here who was was the center of this investigation. Who's in center of these warrants in these searches? And Briana Taylor. Dated the guy for a period of time. She was involved in criminal wrongdoing. She was associated with it. But she had no hand in his is coming. As a matter of fact, in some of the conversations like looking and you know, you gotta knock this off, man. I can't do this anymore with you. And at some point she met Kenneth Walker and and got rid of JaMarcus Glover and started dating. Kenneth Walker is a great guy. And you know that somehow that was missed in this whole thing. Well, let's not forget it's the actions of JaMarcus Glover, who brought all this on and do we want to say a guy like Marcus Glover? Okay, then. Should we investigate? Should we charge Should we go after we kicked on the doors of trap houses of drug houses to get guys like you, Marcus Glover off the street. That's something we all got to address is in the community, right? Do we want police going after? Because that was it wasn't about Rianna Taylor. It was about you, Marcus Glover. And getting his operation shut down his drug operation because he had been in and out of the can for a while doing this kind of stuff. And you know part of responsibility. The violence in Louisville, JaMarcus Glover and his crew had a hand in that had a hand in killing people. Jack. Briana Taylor had a rental car couple ofyears ago. All right, Lee, Thank you very much. It is 806 Alabama's Morning news. Excuse me. And if you'd like to weigh in on this come on in 88 9105105. Not everybody was happy with the grand jury's decision. Obviously, last night is the violence erupted again. Couple of police officers were shot. Good news is they've got them in good condition out the hospital under expected survival. This also good news. The suspect is in custody. As Faras who the shooter was in that case, Uh, we've been talking about Briana Taylor. And how unfortunate was that? She ended up getting shot and passed away. And all of this, that that is unfortunate. It's horrible and she was Somebody was trying to liver, right? Life the right way. Whether or not she knew about her ex boyfriend, Um JaMarcus Glover, who is now in jail, was arrested that morning. March 13th when all this went down Whether or not she knew about his drug activity. There's some indication that she probably knew there. There may have been some money from that drug activity in the house, and that's why JaMarcus Glover Continue to use her address, which is probably a mistake. Obviously, she was not involved in drugs in the running of drugs like some first came out and said That's why JaMarcus Glover Got this whole ball rolling. He's the central case and all this he is probably The one responsible more than anybody for Briana Taylor's death. He is what brought the heat on to that location. The No knock warrant had the right address. The current boyfriends name is Kenneth Walker. His name was not On the warrant. There was no arrest warrant for Briana Taylor. "Legal system. Is predicated on the principle that the accused is innocent until proven guilty. Bill. It's seems to be the case around our country in a number of different other stories related to protests and violence that people are jumping to conclusion based on what they think they know. About stories. And once again here we go again last night is not only in Louisville, but other cities around the country erupt in violence. Police officers shot in Kentucky and the fact remains it went through our justice system. And they did not have the evidence of the grand jury to proceed with charges against these officers in her death. So let's start at the beginning of all of this and why this house was targeted. Well, this house was one of five properties that were rated on that very same morning in in connection with a drug investigation. And the reason that this specific residents was targeted is that it was listed as the address for a primary figure in this in this investigation, JaMarcus ah! Walker and blood. Marcus go right JaMarcus Glover, who was a former boyfriend of Briana Taylor. So that's the reason that it was listed as as a target in this in this investigation and subsequently write these warrants, search warrants being executed that very morning, So that's why that's why this was part of the investigation. Part of the raid that morning. All right. Let's talk about the warrant itself. Okay for this address. The reason that address was there is because JaMarcus Glover, her ex boyfriend, who is now in jail as we speak, Gabriel Anna's address as his address and it was listed. There was Briana Tailor's name on that warrant. It was on the warrant, but because she was listed as the primary resident of that property, her name her social security number all listed on this warrant, So her name was on the warrant. But this it was not an arrest warrant. This was a search warrant, basically to get in there and search the property, because, okay, the investigators believe that there may have been Drug money or actually narcotics stored there. Okay, so she was not a suspect in any of the drug activity herself. No not listed on any arrest warrants. However, poker involvement has still remains a question. Yeah. Yeah, her involvement of based on some phone conversations and reports that I have seen she was staying in touch with JaMarcus Glover, whose I mentioned in jail right now. He was arrested that morning. Correct. That's right. He was one of those that was taken into custody that very same morning at about the same time that the search warrant was being executed at Briana Taylor's house. Now that was March 13th. Since then, he's been arrested and brought into jail and she stayed in touch with them. Even though they weren't boyfriend and girlfriend she's got a new boyfriend who's the one who actually fired upon the police. Morning of all of this taking place Kenneth Walker, So the fact that she stayed in touch with him and allegedly, you know, was aware of some of the money may have been in that address her house. She may not have or, you know, been involved in the drug activity itself, but was certainly aware it sounds like of JaMarcus Glover's involvement in drugs and therefore That house may have had some money based on some Intel the officers that now Kenneth Walker, the man who shot was his name on that warrant. It was not. He was not named on this warrant. He was not a suspect in the drug investigation. So the person who did fire the shot No, not on the warrant. It was all about the address for this warrant to be executed there, along with you said four other locations that were also warrant, You know, search warrants that morning. Yeah, There were warrants for five locations, One of them. Ah, The warrant was never carried out. And we don't know why. But the three others were adjoining houses in that area that were was the suspected central area of this drug operation, So there were a total of five warrants that were executed that morning. All right, very builds them for thank you. So much for the update. We appreciate you 6 18 Alabama's morning news more from the Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, on this case.

"Uh, Would find it very hard. And I've seen that pain. Yeah, And so again, Daniel Cameron, the attorney general there for the state of Kentucky, a getting choked up talking about what he's going through, and I watched the entire press conference and you could really tell That he was struggling. You could really tell that he was having to break the news to a community. That was desperately hoping for A murder charge the manslaughter charge something that would make somebody pay for the death of Briana Taylor. But that didn't happen. And the reason it didn't happen is again because it was clearly at least to me. It was clearly a justified kill. Because it was self defense. Now we can talk about Brown Taylor all day long, and we talked a little bit about this. Yesterday She was shot because yes, her ex boyfriend was shooting at the police. That is a tragedy. But you can also talk about what she was going through in her life and what was going on? In her life. A TTE the time now her ex boyfriend. He was a drug dealer. The guy's name again. Remember this? It was JaMarcus Glover. And the suspicion was the Glover was using her house to store drugs and guns and money and this kind of thing. And so that is what led to the search warrant being issued in the first place. And again, I mentioned one more time. The search warrant. The issuing of that warrant is being checked out and investigated by the federal authorities. But she was still hanging out with this dude. Jamarcus Glover, you know ah, known and I'm not blaming the victim. Please understand. But in our lives we we affiliate ourselves with people that can make this better or people that can make us worse. And if you if you continue to connect with people that make you worse and draw you into their web of crime and drugs, and all these other things. Well, then, when you hang out with bad people, bad things happen. And that is, unfortunately one of the truths of life. Just like when you do bad things bad things can happen to you. So one of the other things I was going to say about this is you know her old boyfriend, Glover. You know this was a guy again who was a bad guy. This is the one that the cops were looking for and looking at and ultimately led them to coming to her. Old house because he was still hey, had his name at her address. And so he was using her address for a couple of different reasons. So the police it seems to me they did everything right? But unfortunately at the end of the day of Rianna Taylor is dead. And this is going to be one of those stories that America is going to continue to hear about. And can you continue to watch the carnage frankly, unfold in Louisville? And who knows where else Tonight and maybe tomorrow night And who knows how long this is going to go on? But the skirmishes have already begun in Louisville will keep you updated. "But these cops were part of a narc unit that were rating five or six places that evening because of long investigations of Of JaMarcus Glover, whose whose on the lam right now is where he said I was going to ask you because I got an email and I remember you saying that that he's still on the lam but somebody but Marissa said. Wasn't it Somebody's responsibility and check to see if the guy was there. But how would you know? How would you know? In other words, they did not. The officers testified. They assumed she was alone that the place was under surveillance for a while, but not the last few hours. They assume that Briana Taylor was by herself. But then, when they got their broken, imagine, they seen suddenly see two figures. What they described as a male and a female is shots fired. So they were surprised were two people there instead of one. They didn't know that Kenneth Walker was there because she had broken up with JaMarcus Glover. And that was the guy that's a really bad actor. It's on a vein Bay would be there would be Glover, but it turned out it was discounted. When you do that at night, you better enough, right? Did not. They assume one was in. They didn't do that, and there was parts of the affidavit to get the search warrant. And the No. No knock warrant that were not turned out to be accurate. And so some of the facts put in the search warrant that caused the judge to issue this warrant were not accurate. So, you going stuff? I mean, when the special forces one and got bin Laden, they had up to this and they knew exactly how many people were in that compound where they were and all that. And this is you assume would be similar. Hey, what are we dealing with here? Three hours ago, There was only one person there. I think you put somebody there. No one's going in. Nobody's going out. There's one person in there. Okay, Let's go. And Brown. A tailor, they knew was like a she'd worked for the city, Louisville. Then she's working for a hospital. So she wasn't a person that they thought would engage in violent behaviour. Shall we say? Did they think that she wasn't involved? The main perpetrator? All this drug running that was going on? You know, I don't want his besmirching. But you know, when you date somebody for two years, you may know what they do. I don't know, but they weren't there to arrest around Taylor. They thought there were packages there of drugs and money and that way part of the JaMarcus Glover investigation. The other guy's name was Adrian Walker. There were two main actors of fentanyl. It was just a mistake upon mistake upon and that's it. Generally not a crime, Willy. Thanks for hanging out. He's explaining everything, because this is very confusing. Donald Trump talked about the protest yesterday. But instead of meeting with the Blake family, he met with local gathering of law enforcement to support them and talk about his concept of law and order, something that Biden says reveals more about the current occupant of the White House. And people think he may believe mouthing the words Law and order makes him strong. It is fair you to call on his own supporters to stop acting as an armed militia in this country, shows how weak he is. President. Less than two hours to charge him on March 13th, But these officers have had about six months. They still look charge the night Briana Taylor was shot and killed by police. Walker claims officers burst in without announcing themselves. He says he assumed it was an intruder and fired one shot, prompting police to fire back. Eight bullets hit Briana Taylor. That was a very reasonable assumption on Kenny's behalf, which is by hey after several times of asking, and no one responded, he grabbed his legal weapon. Last week, JaMarcus Glover, Taylor's ex boyfriend, was arrested on drug charges. He was also arrested the night Taylor was killed by police and was the subject of the investigation that led police to raid Taylor's home. There is no evidence Of any drug transactions ever or any involvement in the drug trade at Briana Taylor's apartment other than her ex boyfriend visited her there. The lead prosecutor Thomas Wine, issued a statement saying the document was a draft that was part of pre indictment plea negotiations, and Taylor was never a co defendant with Glover. The prosecutor later directed Taylor's name be removed from the final police sheet. But her address is still listed in connection to the case. The only thing they do show is that they will do anything to try to smear her. In order to justify this police shooting. "This ain't his first rodeo. He's been in really contentious stories before and he's come through. He's just Ah, hardboiled reporter. What he did was get a hold of reports about jail phone calls among Briana Taylor and a guy named JaMarcus Glover and then other people associated with this guy Glover. Who was an alleged drug trafficker noticed, I said alleged He's got his criminal problems, but these these are allegations. And so in the phone conversations, it does paint. A wider picture again. Briana Taylor did not deserve to die. But in journalism when you package together a story You can't be an advocacy journalist. You can't just be somebody who says Well, black lives matter, And so black lives matter, And that's the crux of my messaging all the time. And what I'm doing journalism is this side that side put it all together. Give us much detail as you possibly can. And let the reader decide. It's who, what? When. Where? Wise how you start a story and if it adds onto a prior story, like the Briana Taylor story we've known since March. Then it gives fuller context to the story. That's what really journalism is. We have a lot of people that are fresh out of college and they've got their advocacy hats on and you can read their tweets and see that they are Politicking online, and so then that shades the product that they produce, hopefully their editors and senior members of a media outlets. That then filter there that the youngsters bias as it were and try to make something Mork complete and thorough. And so that's how we got to this point with his article today that everybody's tweeting about it Now, here's the Here's The conundrum for the Courier Journal. Who knows how many people have it? I've had a bunch of people on Twitter. Send me a link. Here's the whole article. Here's the whole article here. It's right here. It's like, dude, I know. And eso whenever they released this article, and as several people on Twitter have already said today, how come you haven't ended it now? It's been hours. Here we go. Let's see it. Let's see your updated, thoroughly edited story. How long's this Take? You put out stories every hour of every day. 24 7 365 66 this year days a year. And you're telling us has taken all day. I mean, how many editors What are all the editors on vacation? What's happening? Where's the article? The problem is The whole articles on the way out there, so it'll be interesting as people compare them side by side As we move forward. It does give a butter context into Briana Taylor's life, and that's for certain. And again she does not deserve to be dead on the show, 3 35 Today the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell joins us live from the don't know where he is. "Kitchen bedrooms in a neighbor's apartment with small children nearby multiple neighbors called nine, one one asking for police only finding out later it was the police you don't almost every time we story involving the police shooting. I'm always shocked at how badly trained not in control the police seem. Brianna Tina's boyfriend was lying in bed heard his dog it smashed grabbed his legal firearm and had the presence of mind to try and injure the Intruder Bhai, aiming down. But the COPS whose we trained professionals they burst in like they get paid by the bullets and for anyone who has a density to blame brands boyfriend shooting at the cops please answer me this question if America tells people to get a gun to defend themselves from intruders but the cops are the intruders breaking down the door without knocking what are you supposed to do? To An innocent person, there is zero difference between a no knock raid and a home invasion. If someone bus down, you're doing the middle of the night you're gonNA think that they're intruders not all the cops might be here or damn. ooh, eats is coming in hot tonight. In fact, it would be weird if you didn't use your gun in that situation, I mean if not, then what are you saving it for? To be honest. We shouldn't even be calling these things. No knock rates that gives them too much credit. You just drop the euphemism in Kuala what it is a home invasion with police get to act like they're in a video game. The police. Break down the door without warning they shoot Brianna Taylor. Eight times in her own house. And what makes the story even more tragic is that the cops should never have even been in that house in the first place police Scott five warrants approved four four suspected drug dealers and suspected drug houses lumped into that with. Language was the warrant for Briana Taylor's apartment under the suspicion she was involved with handling money and drugs for an alleged Louisville drug dealer, her ex boyfriend jamarcus glover she hadn't dated glover and months a package police say they saw glover picking up a Taylor's apartment was likely a pair of shoes according to the family attorney and despite what officers were told before the raid Brianna Taylor certainly did not live alone when it was all over police found no drugs no money in her apartment before going into Brianna Taylor's home police were actually warned that she would be very little threat if no threat at all. Yes. They use, bogus Intel. And they came in guns blazing even though they knew she wasn't a threat every step of the way this investigation ran the police screwed up. They need a million mistakes, which is a million more than any black person has ever make. and honestly with the amount of mistakes that the police made throughout the entire process, I don't even know if it's fair to call them mistakes at this point. Because, a mistake is something you do by accident but these cops blatantly ignored so many protocols and so much information at some point it moves from a mistake to just actively not giving A. And it's bad enough when you learn what these people did in the heat of the moment. But in a way, what's even worse is what they did when they had the time to think, Brianna, Taylor was alive for several minutes after police shot her five times and for more than twenty minutes after Taylor was fatally shot Taylor twenty-six lay where she fell in her hallway receiving no medical attention according to dispatch logs you see her boyfriend after. The shooting being arrested here in the parking lot police tried to charge him with attempting to kill police officers but those charges were later dropped a recently released police incident report from that night is mostly blank. It claims there was no forced entry. It does Liz Taylor as a victim of a crime and under injuries it says none even though Taylor was shot eight times, you see it's one thing to quote unquote shoot someone accidentally eight times. But leaving on the floor without any medical attention that isn't an accident. That's just a blatant disregard for black life. And on top of all of that, the cop submitted a mostly blank incident report. Really. You really couldn't think of anything that you could write on that report not even. Oh. Up these offices are so bad. They couldn't even solve the murder that they committed and right now the Attorney General of Kentucky says that they're investigating Brianna Taylor killing, but it's been four months. And in that four months, they've seem to find a way to arrest somebody it's more than four months since twenty six year old emt Brianna Taylor. was shot and killed in her own home so far there have been no charges filed against the three white officers involved by comparison though this week it took just one data file felony charges against more than eighty protestors who went to the home of Kentucky, attorney, General, calling for justice, and beyond his killing. Every single day. In America we're reminded that there are different criminal justice systems depending on who you are. There's one for the rich and there's one for the poor. There's one for white people and there's a different one for black people and apparently there's also one for those who oppose police brutality and for those who committed now won't lie the one bit of hope that I have seen from this. Is that the protests are actually getting results. Because a few months ago, almost nobody had heard of this case. But now, thanks to people taking to the streets and relentlessly pushing for justice. Some changes are being made including Brianna law which bans no knock warrants in Louisville. The truth is we have so much more work to do. Because, what happened to Brianna Taylor it's not just a few bad cops. It's not even really just about the cops. It's also the legislature that gave them the power to break into houses. The judge that signed the warrant, the Police Department that didn't act against these offices and the county that charged the protesters for challenging these rules. In other words, what happens to detail wasn't a failure of the system? It was the system working as it's intended..

"WLW. It's Rachel Elliot inferred Jerry Jeff Walker. We're starting to get an idea of what Briana Taylor's family thinks happened to her. And we're getting that idea from the lawsuit they filed here to talk to us about that. Is tested of all of the courier Journal. Tessa. Good to talk to you again. Hey, thanks so much for having me back on. So we are starting to figure out what exactly might have been. The reason to bust into Brown is Taylor's apartment on that fateful night, according to this new lawsuit brought by her family walk us through that Absolutely so. Her family has filed a lawsuit against the three officers involved in her death, and they amended that complaint over the weekend and are now alleging that the reason they were So that police were so aggressively targeting the alleged drug dealers who are part of the broader narcotics investigation eyes that they were renting a home on Elliot Avenue here in Louisville that developers are trying to get their hands on it for some neighborhood are revitalisation. And so the new theory put forth by attorneys for Briana Taylor family is that there really aggressively going after these drug dealers trying to get them out of this home and That Briana because of her connection to one of these individuals these dates several years ago. I was sort of swept up in that loosely connected to him, and that's that. What's that things in motion? So was the home in question. That was part of this deal the home that belonged to her ex boyfriend who was being investigated Or was it the home that she was currently living in? It was a home that was being rented by her ex boyfriend, a man named JaMarcus Glover and so Brianna's connection to the broader narcotics investigation. Is, according to an affidavit that police officers wrote she wass she had let JaMarcus Glover pick up mail at her place before that police had observed Cam getting a package from her apartment. And they said that you know this is something that drug dealers do. They'll have packages. Delivered to other homes tries to, you know, get rid of suspicion that that might be on them and their activities. And that has also been called into question that if the postal Inspector Ah, even really, you know, gave this information to police. So the postal inspectors have told another media outlet here in mobile that Briana was not receiving suspicious packages at her home. And so the officer who got that warrant is also on administrative reassigned while those questions are answered at 12 In terms of Police looking into getting individuals out of this house on Elliot Teo. Do we think that this was something that because I haven't seen the documents? That's why I'm asking you. This is it something that the family attorney is? Kind of alluding to the fact that there might have been kickbacks. There might have been corruption. There might have been some kind of payoff in order to get thes cops to investigate these individuals specifically, or is this just part gentrification trying to clean up the neighborhood? Yeah, so that really still remains to be seen. Of course, the city has come out and said that you know, everything that the attorneys are alleging is just absolutely ah, gross misrepresentation of what's really happening that there is no you know, giant secret development being planned that this is really just about getting affordable housing in the neighborhood. Uh, so the city is really denying Essentially what the attorneys have put forth in this new filing in court. It is interesting to note that oh, that's the city did purchase the home from its previous owners home that the accused drug dealer Was renting the city bought for a dollar when it's actually values at about $17,000 so that home is now city property, and there's probably a developer of some sort linked to this who's going to come in and probably put up new housing that, like you mentioned would be affordable housing. Those deals tend to generate a lot of money going in the direction of the contractor, right? We're still looking into that you know they they own. The city owns several homes on on several blocks in that area, and some have been demolished, according to the lawsuit lawsuit, But they still owe several properties and another has been plans to hand over new The area, but the city is saying that it is not going to be this, You know, luxury, redesigned that attorneys for Rianna Taylor family is alleging, OK, the other thing that I saw in some some of the documents was that there were over 60 officers involved in the SWAT response. Thie. No, not more in that were too Briana Taylor's ex boyfriend. And there were what three officers involved in the incident with her at her home. Is that correct? So we actually don't know how many officers responded to Brianna's home? The night she was killed. We know that three fire their weapons because they were placed on administrative leave. But according to police protocol, there should have been many other officers on scene. There's a patrol officer on scene with his songs. People knew that police activity, of course, after an officer a shot there were you know many, many other officers. Mm. That's why all kinds of other personnel responded to the scene after the officer was shot, so we don't actually know who always on the scene and at what time at this point, right because that's what I'm trying to get. A is the discrepancy between the response to one home versus Briana Taylor's home. And there is a discrepancy there in terms of a show of force and who was present between the two incidents. And that's kind of being called into question, right? And so another thing that Brianna's family attorneys are alleging is that they actually they police actually hit this home. Where the suspected drug dealer Wass at midnight, So that is another assertion that is being made in this court filing that he saying that you are the attorney argues that Police actually hit the home at midnight instead of 12 40 that they all their documents after the fact to make it look like they hit the home. They hit Briana and they hit the other home at the same time. Hey, says that he based on on what he knows he does not believe that's accurate. He actually believes that they found this individual of full 40 minutes before they went into Brianna's helping and why would that be significant? His whole argument is that if they had located located JaMarcus Glover that then there was no reason to go to bring on the tone. Right. Like she was not the main target of the narcotics investigation. They thought, Okay, perhaps packages are being sent to her home, but no one thought that Or was alleging, at least in the document that we've seen that Briana was actually a dealer or a trafficker herself is really this man named JaMarcus Glover was named on all the search warrant for the evening. Like I mentioned he does have that history of Narcotics defenses. And so what are turning their saying If they already found him, there would have been no reason to go to Brianna's place to serve this warrant. The way they did in the time they've been, and perhaps Briana would still be alive if Things have played out like that. So when they entered her house, they were technically looking for him. And what they're saying is since he was already in custody, there was no reason to even serve that warrant. At that point, right? His name was on the search warrant for her home, so it will look her name. But so Western markets covers and 1/3 individual. Who was also facing some of these drug charges as well. So yeah, that's the whole point was OK. If you've already got your main target of the product investigation. Why do you also need to go after Briana? And that's the point that they're making, And from what I've read, there were five no knock warrants issued. For this rate for this particular rate is that common practice where they issued that many no knock warrants for a single operation. It's incredibly rare. So there are very few know Knox issued in ruble bills for the 1st 5 of the year. And what a doozy though, right, Tessa? What would you have to be? If you're the judge on those? No knobs? You have Teo be kicking yourself right now. Well, she she has not spoken publicly about that. But yes, there was one judge that signed off on the side and there was a fixed no not issued for April That was also targeting that house on Elliot Street as well and also focusing on markets lover. So six no knocks this year all all names. You know one individual market cover. So that also that's alright. Raise raise some red flags for countries involved in Briana's case. Yes, okay. Yeah, because it doesn't seem like that doesn't seem normal to a lay person. But, you know, sometimes you don't know what these things but that seems Excessive. I guess that is what the word I'm looking for. And you know, like I said, it certainly raised some questions. And, of course what happened with Briana? You know, ultimately lead to, you know, not being banned by Metro Council here in the wall, so unanimously got 26 elected leaders in the city to all say No, we don't. We don't want these types of warrants being executed by little police department anymore. When it comes to this lawsuit. Are the officers involved? The officers involved are being named in the suit. So does that mean that during Discovery counsel could potentially tried to get access to their bank accounts, get access to their personal files to see.
