"To believe you are a hater, coming up on this episode of the right time to get you set up for the NFL playoffs. Plus, you tell us about that time you ran up against a future pro with athletic competition, but first. All right, so we had NFL action this Sunday. We got through the week and we got all the good news in the world that we could have reasonably expected from damar Hamlin. That was a big feel good thing for everybody. It's not very often that we get something out here in this gang that allows us to all feel good, but I mean, that's what happens when we all think we saw somebody die and it turns out that he's alive, right? And man, we got right back into football mode immediate to leave. Once we found out that debar had was going to be all right. How fast did we get back into football mode? We got back into football mode even faster than I think we would generally expect that we would get back into football mode and we got there so fast 'cause Jamar Hamlin woke up and did the most football thing. You could possibly imagine. He wakes up, they told that dude that he almost died, but it's cool, and he didn't, and his response was, did we win? Now, of course, for football people, they heard that and was like, hell yeah. That's what I'm talking about, right? That whole moment came. That dude was on the field, damn near died, everything else. And they was like, he came back and was like, yo, so did we win? Yeah, man. See, the game is the most important thing in the world. Like when you go back and watch new clips on ESPN and everybody smiling like man, he woke up and he wanted to know if they won. In my immediate thought was, damn, that is wild. Wild I tell you wild. I mean wild in the sense of how we all look at this. And the level of importance that we all place on this. Now again, this goes back to something that we had talked about last week that I feel like I and everybody else does need to be honest about to an extent. Part of the charm of this game is how damn important it is to everybody who's involved in it. Like this just isn't one of those things that you can do if you only care about a little bit. You can't even be the kicker if you only care about it. A little bit. You got to care about it a lot in order to do this. It's just too dangerous otherwise for you to not get into it and have like that real level of investment in it. But when I heard him come out of that and be like, did we win writing it down on a piece of paper? I admit, I was just kind of like, oh, that's who we are, huh? Oh,

Or others might just actually be better where 9 and 8 isn't the first one out. I got you. All right. Rams Bengals this weekend. How about this? "Always have unfinished business in Waco. It's early April, week 5 of the standoff. At the FBI command post Byron sage sits at a desk, waiting for an important meeting, a meeting that could set the standoff on a new course. After Gary nesse was removed as chief negotiator, sage stepped in as the de facto leader of the negotiating team. He was sorry to see Nestor go, but he's continued to push hard for a peaceful solution, even if progress has been slow coming. Sage has spoken on the phone with David koresh and Steve Schneider almost every day for 5 weeks straight, but it's been two weeks since any adult has walked through the doors of mount Carmel. Koresh hasn't released any children in more than a month. Sage stands up. It's time for his meeting with the FBI's commander Jeff Jamar. Sage walks past rows of agents all huddled over computer monitors. They have dark rings under their eyes, and they look worn fin, just like sage. Everyone is sick of living off cold pizza and they're tired of David koresh and having to organize their lives around the whims of a madman. Sage enters to Mars office, the commander is hunched over his desk, his expression stern. He gestures for sage to sit and asks if there's been any progress in getting people out of mount Carmel. Sage size and shakes his head. Jamar leans in. He wants to know the truth. Can they get David koresh to surrender? Sage takes a moment, swallows hard. It's difficult to admit after weeks of effort, but he tells Jamar what he believes. The negotiator seemed to have exhausted their options. At this point, sage is convinced that David koresh doesn't care about anyone inside. All he sees are ways to fulfill his own grandiose vision. Sage bites his left before offering his final assessment. He's not sure what koresh will do if they don't act soon. Jamar nods, he says he's glad sage has come around on the point because the agency has a new solution in mind. It's a plan codenamed Jericho. Sage recognizes the name Jericho from the famous siege in the Bible. Jamar picks up an aerial photograph of mount Carmel. He points to the compound and explains that according to the plan, tanks will approach mount Carmel with specialized equipment, outfitted with 30 foot arms. These arms will act like pipes that can penetrate the compound. Through these pipes, the tanks will then inject tear gas going room by room. They'll release the gas over a 48 hour period. They're not looking to force the Davidians out immediately. Instead, they'll gradually shrink the living space inside the compound until the entire building is saturated with tear gas. At that point, the Davidians will have no choice but to come out. Jamar looks up from the aerial photograph. He says that once they put Jericho into action, they'll need someone to tell the Davidians about the tear gas and to help talk them out of the building. He wants sage to fill that role. Jamar also explains that the highest levels of the FBI are on board. Soon, the FBI director will help present the plan to Janet Reno. President Clinton's new attorney general. And if Reno gives the okay, the tactical team will immediately put the plan into action. But right now, Jamar wants to know if sage is on board with the plan. Sage lets his mind imagine what will surely be a frightening scene inside mount Carmel. He can picture the thundering tanks, the white clouds of tear gas filling room after room. It's a risky plan, but keeping koresh in place feels even riskier. This has to end on the FBI's terms. So Byron sage tells Jamar, he's in. It's April 14th, 1993, and now day 46 of the standoff. David thibodeau smiles as he bounds up the stairs to the second floor of mount Carmel. He feels light on his feet, his former balk has wasted away after 6 weeks of combat rations, and the hardships of the long siege have purged his last spiritual doubts. For the first time in his life, thibodeau feels like he understands what faith truly means. At the top of the stairs, thibodeau stops and grins. Here, David koresh sits up against the wall, surrounded by a large group of followers, thibodeau sees his own hope reflected on their faces. Earlier today, koresh announced that he will end the standoff once and for all. God spoke to the prophet at the end of Passover. He instructed koresh to write down his interpretation of the 7 seals. Koresh said it will take two weeks, three tops, so he called the FBI and said as soon as he finishes writing the seals, he'll surrender. There will be no change of plans. Thibodeau scans the crowd and spots his wife, Michelle. She sits with serenity, her four year old daughter, who she had with koresh. Thibodeau goes and sits down beside them and serenity crawls into his lap. He smiles at her as she settles in. Settling on koresh is a look of calm and clarity, and then he begins to speak, exalted and proud as if God is flowing through him. He begins dictating the first of the 7 seals next to him, Judy Schneider types furiously on a typewriter. She takes down every one of his words, even though for the last 6 weeks, she's had a wound in her hand where she was shot. Crash's voice rises, he says that he who has chosen to open the seals will be persecuted exactly as he and his followers have been persecuted these long weeks..

"And with van ginkel, I went back and I looked at the ravens game because you're facing you're facing an exceptional run offense. The arguably the best run offense in modern NFL history. I don't know. I mean, since as long as I can remember. And every play, you're just getting Patrick Ricard and Mark Andrews and Lamar Jackson just bearing down on you and you're that edge setting guy. It's tough and you're not a huge, I mean, you're big guy, you're an NFL player, but you're outnumbered by like 500 pounds and you're still hanging in there. I just think that there's something really admirable and sort of romantic, right, about the run stopping linebacker in today's NFL, and I just, I really like it. I just think it's a cool thing. Let's hop over to the AFC north. We have talked up Mark Andrews quite a bit. We will move on to the Bengals. And you know, you can only be so underrated as a receiver, but T Higgins is especially interesting to me. Just the way we perceive him because you can go back to Clemson and he was kind of, you know, I think everyone recognized him as a very, very, very good player, but it's like Justin Ross was the eye there. Until Ross got hurt and then Higgins kind of emerged and then he's the second round pick and now he's on a team with Jamar chase. Higgins, yes, to an extent he will feast off the fact that teams are obviously going to devote more of their coverage Jamar Chase's way, but he is, it's all hypothetical so I can make this case and, you know, I have this thing and never be proven wrong, but I think he's a legit number one. I think he's easily a top 20 receiver in the league, and I think he's just so, I think he's a legit number one receiver. If you dropped him into a team that maybe didn't have a Jamar chase caliber guy across from him. Yeah, so I went back and I looked at the Vikings game right because their first game of the season and one of the things that I wanted to see was, especially after the off season that Jamar chase had, the reports where he couldn't catch the ball. He couldn't see or whatever was going on there. Everything was very weird and Cincinnati at the time. But I wanted to see how the Vikings kind of covered him. And one of the plays that caught my eye was that they run this high low concept with Higgins and chase, right?.

"Of that offense sometimes is that short-range passing game where you can get your blocking receivers involved in everything when that's not there, your ability to hit Jamar chase. You know, your ability to stretch the field like he's able to do. Just makes them that sort of good plus offense, which I think is going to be good enough to make the playoffs and possibly good enough to scare some other teams that you're going to face in there in the tournament as Gary might call it. And, you know, Gary, I think your point about being down against the forty-niners is a really good one because I noticed I looked up the play by play to get the exact time. 9 29 left in the fourth is when they had the fourth and 5 at the San Francisco 17. So you're down two scores at that point. You could go a lot of different directions. You could kick a field goal, but they decide to go for the touchdown because they know when the forty-niners get the ball back, they can drain a lot of time off the clock. Now, maybe you'd go for a touchdown anyway, regardless of who the opponent is, but I think especially in that circumstance, even though you have almost two thirds of the fourth quarter left, you know that you have to get a touchdown because they can drain so much time off the clock. And the results of that going for it on the fourth and 5 is that tremendous play by burrow and you see Jamar chase kind of figure out a way to get open and keep his toes and bound against the end line and burrows under pressure and he scampers out and he makes the touchdown pass. I mean, that was an incredible display. So the bangles, the AC north is kind of entirely wide open, who knows how things are going to sort out. Whoever ends up atop the division, things are very bright and Cincinnati, which is not what you would have said going into this season. Boy, I mean, this one's gonna stick in their craw just because it's like you lose the battle to nothing on two special teams fumbles. And you're still right there and over time. It's a game they should have won. They had the weird game last week against the Chargers at home where everyone was just sort of turning it over nonstop. But this is one where you know two special teams mistakes. And it ends up just sort of doing them in when it's all said and done. But you're right, Jenny, this ASC north race is just completely bonkers right now. And we're going.

"Wow. Things have come a long way. Now this wind does not change my opinion of Baltimore and the ravens. We know they're a good team. They've had some big wins. They just dominated the Chargers last weekend. And if week 6, but it does change a little bit how have you Cincinnati? I mean, I knew they were better this year. They've had a good start to the year. They were foreign to going into this game. But I didn't realize that Cincinnati was capable of a win like that. Beating the Bengals by 24 points. Pulling away in the fourth quarter blowing out Baltimore. And rookie receiver Jamar chase had 8 catches for 201 yards, one touchdown, look, the Bengals have the second best quarterback receiver combo in the entire NFL. Number one is Aaron Rodgers and devonte Adams. And then number two is Joe burrow and Jamar chase. I love it. I love to see it. It's fantastic. Again, it's so much fun to watch this Bengals football team. And Raven's head coach John Harbaugh came out and said, it was the worst game we've played all year. And I agree. The ravens did not play very well in this game blown coverages. Giving up Sachs, guys, draw passes. This is an ugly game for Baltimore. But the point of him saying that was that he was saying we can't panic. This loss does not define us as a football team. And I agree with that too. The ravens will be okay. Remember, this was a ten point game early on in the fourth quarter. Yeah, Baltimore, the Bengals pulled away, but Baltimore was down. I mean, there was a moment where they picked off Joe burrow and the end zone and they bring it all out blitz after Joe burrow. He realizes I can't protect it. Tries to roll to the right. "Yeah okay i don't. I'm not gonna argue that. But i personally think it's more if you continue to put yourself in negative situations and when i'm when i'm say negative i mean plus or negative right. Plus situation means a top three. Start where your are doing well go up exponentially or you just herself in a negative situation percentage wise where you're starting tenth or worse that's going to have an effect over the course of the season it's going to slowly catch up unless you're able to just put through the field like if you can just you know a race that deficit and the first laugher too no problem but he's not able to do that lately and to me. That's the biggest problem is. If you're gonna start you're going to get about start. You better make quick moves. Because if you don't you're going to look up on the third lap you're gonna be ten and that's a big problem. Yeah jamar takes the win. We think. I asked you guys last week on the podcast out of the last six races. How many does a win..

Two eighty joint multi-role tech demonstration and future version goal lift programs before he joined Bell Paul served in the US Air Force as an acquisitions in aerospace engineering officer and at Bell Oh but prior to his current role. Paul led the V. Two eighty vehicle systems team in the development and testing of flight control avionics propulsion in mechanics call systems all of that culminated in the successful first flight in two thousand seventeen and in his time at Bell Paul served in other leadership roles including as project manager for the for seven G X autopilot development and certification program and as the ipt lead for els vehicle management systems and integrated vehicle health management technology. Ira De Paul will come to the airplane Geeks podcast thank you for having me on glad to be with you now we're going to jump right in with appall and we'll come back to the nation news after that breath as I mentioned the Bell v Tweety Valor He's a tilt rotor aircraft it was selected by the US Army for the joint multi-role technology demonstrator phase which is a precursor for future vertical lift that program Paul can you tell us what those programs are in what is the US army looking for here blue it'd be glad to share that so we've been working here a bell on the Jamar Tech Demonstrator multi-role Tech Demonstrator Program for the for the six years and when the army started this effort about six years ago their objective was to support risk reduction technology ration- but really to get at the The key technical development areas I would support informing the art of the possible bowl for future vertical lift so future vertical lift is the future program of record those are the aircraft were trying to field in the future to the war fighter and then the joint multi-role demonstrator program is all the activities that go to reduce risk and informed capabilities and requirements for that future production program so as part of that future vertical lift the is actually composed of multiple classes over craft sizes of aircraft everything from what we call a capability set one aircraft which would be a light scout aircraft to the capability Lee said three which is the program that I'm working on the beach you eighty program we'll talk more about that up to potentially capability set five aircraft would be Think of a C. One thirty size vertical platform so really encompasses a large range of sizes of Eric craft and for the joint multi-role Tek demonstrator program we're focused on an aircraft that would be sized around providing black cock you age sixty like capability so the army wanted a platform like the age sixty from a size standpoint but that could bride longer longer range capability more speed capability improved hover performance in addition to improving things like survivor ability affordability etc and so the program that I've been working on has been focused on that future Blackhawk replacement aircraft from a construction standpoint and so over the past six years we've designed built and have now for the past two years been flying bells under a craft the beach you eighty which is for that Blackhawk replacement type aircraft and then going forward that future vertical lift program of record would again have multiple sizes of aircraft and the army is currently focused as part of their modernisation priority he's the two aircraft saw a platforms of their focused on in the near term are a small scout platform and that program is called the future attack reconnaissance aircraft and then the Blackhawk replacement aircraft which that firm is called the future long range assaults aircraft and so all the work we've been doing here over the past several years has been going towards again in formula requirements and reducing risk for that future long-range assault aircraft or the replacement for for the Black Hawk and there are as I understand it a number of companies that have been working in this area trying to develop things but it has has the army essentially made a down select to to you and in companies that is that where we stand on this now no so we're the program stands right now is a net tech demonstration phase and so as part of that the army a selected four OEM's For four manufacturers two of which were to build a build and fly tests demonstrator craft and then two other companies that were doing a ground based development or testing and so the two aircraft that are currently As part of the flight test program under the tech demonstration phase are bell with rb two eighty platform and Secorski Boeing partnership around the be one which is a different compound co ax type configuration and Adele has the the tote rotor version and then so that is not a competitive fly off at the end of the tech demonstration effort again we're reducing risks informing requirements and capabilities to help define help to find the technologies and read it technip technical readiness of that future platform on the record side so the programmer record which will end up being competitive would be the future long-range assault aircraft platform and so the army's working there acquis in strategy basically to develop continue to develop these capabilities continued inform requirements that would lead towards the record a couple years down the road I see okay the good that that makes a lot of sense and let me just also say at this point for for you listening that we have a number of pretty getting videos that bell has produced that show this aircraft to eighty hour in we'll have those in the show notes with your you know if you're at home or someplace in front of a computer as we're talking is you're listening to this as we're talking you might want to take a look at the show notes it airplane Geeks dot com slash five seven six and take a look at some of those those videos David where are you going to interject something hadn't planned on it but since you're asking I thought I heard you I've been on view to whole time if you're hearing me it's voices in your head could be Whoa Tilt Rotor over standard conventional helicopters and then a little bit more what what aspects of the tilt rotor different some say the V twenty two the current production tilt rotor. Sure Yeah Greg Greg question so the capability that tilt rotor brings is the combination of vertical lift capability with wing borne flight

An overview of Huawei 5G

"And we are speaking with Scott Jamar he is a vice president of industry relations for one way well it you know you you probably remember when the CFO was arrested in Canada at the behest of the United States I she's facing extradition there still and you probably like me scratch your head and said what the heck is a hallway and then if you looked into it at all you found out that they are they see here which tech company telecommunications they're amazing and one of the leaders of the world I mean you you use our past apple in in phones and and you own five G. essentially so before we get to our phone calls I want to ask you in three minutes explain what five G. is because you know it's supposed to be people talk about this as this unbelievable thing that's coming other people are afraid of it what is it well five Jeez the next generation of cell phone technology art connectivity technology it's a hundred times faster than four G. so that movie you want to download that website you want to visit has a ton of content is going to be incredibly fast the latency is much much lower and this is impact telephones only or does this you know cellphones or does this also impact computer connectivity it does it adds a an entirely new market segment you know there's this thing called the internet of things which allows you to connect your your car or do surgery remotely you know very very quickly yes sold lots of different devices it enables entirely new networks of art entirely new market of devices why is this so complicated why do you own it well I wouldn't say we own it I tell you the market leaders you would say that I say you own it okay what we we've been we've spent the last ten years investing in five G. and spent several billion dollars on developing that because we were looking forward as to where is the market going I mean we we were the world's largest telecom manufacture Quitman manufacture so what's the future look like so we've been investing in five G. to enable all these new market segments because the world is becoming even more connected there's things like the internet of cal's believe it or not we're your monitoring cal's in the field to find out when they are in estrus so you can bring them back to the bar but there's there's internet enabled manhole covers to see when people are opening those who may be trying to steal a copper so you can monitor that anything you can think of your refrigerator like I said before your car will now have the ability to be connected and to gain information from those devices that controls devices and to provide more insight into our everyday lives so this is more powerful and it's faster yes okay where people afraid of it well I think people are afraid of any technology that's coming potentially into their personal lives you know we have our our internet connected thermostats we have our internet connected refrigerators we have Alexis we have you know Google's version of Alexa it's people are becoming a little bit concerned about the privacy and rightly so we should were all stakeholders in our own security and and data privacy and we all need to be aware of that we can't just new to around the world with blinders on we need to make sure that we take the steps that we need to take to ensure our own security on on privacy yeah we should consider all networks to some people are talking about you know waves come in their brains and stuff is that just nonsense well it all I don't think it's nonsense any radio waves around this all the time but are they are they harmful I think the jury's still out on that you know there were there were talks over the years about cell phones right you know providing or are causing problems there's research being done on that but I don't think there's anything conclusive yet and of course those things are tested but each country uses a different radio spectrum for five G. so it depends on the radio spectrum it depends on where it's being deployed and how it's being deployed and how strong the signal is how far away are we from five G. of we're deploying five G. right now where in different parts of the world in the in other countries in the United States we're not to point five G. are there other companies looking at that but why always about eighteen to twenty four months ahead of everyone else in the market so you're going to see those deployments coming out with five G. I know that Nokia and Ericsson are also deploying some of those networks but I'm not quite sure if any have really been deployed other than testing in the United States at
