Are Donovan Mitchell and the Jazz True Contenders?

"So tony. Let's start this story during last year's playoffs done mitchell and jamal murray have this epic battle in the nba. Bubble shot clock down to four. Mitchell has millsaps. Automobile three took three and returns the staredown ton of matchel clutch. Three pointer for the jazz. Eventually mitchell jazz fall in dramatic fashion a game. Seven two seconds ago for the winter. Tell us about donovan. Mitchell after that loss of known donovan. Pretty well in the four years. He's been with the johnson. I don't think i've seen him data emotional in the post game. There's so many things. I just feel like we could did and we didn't and i think that's just where the hurt really comes because quite frankly i don't i give them credit but i feel like we kind of eased off the gas. You have to remember the jazz at a be in the second half of game five which was supposed to be oppose out game for them to do more and this won't happen again is extremely down and he just basically said. We're not losing in the first round of the playoffs anymore. This ain't the end. This ain't this is just the beginning man. This is just the just the beginning. And i'm ready to go. Who begin right now and so once. The cameras were gone and donovan. Mitchell was back home in utah. How how did he spend. This off. season is funny. Because i talked to somebody close to donovan mitchell about this a couple of weeks ago and one thing he said was donovan was on the phone with people like literally. You know two or three days after the season Sam less workout. You know the thing about donovan. He's a guy that goes out and he works on his craft resolutely. And you know. I think that not only. Did he work on his craft during the offseason but after that the rest of the jazz from person one person fifteen worked on their craft under all season as well. Well let's bring it forward to this year. How did mitchell in the jazz start off. The current season they started off on four and with two really bad losses unforced turnover passing out an equal. Don't runaway league beasley. They lost the minnesota timberwolves at home. In the second game of the season they will blown out and outclassed in brooklyn nets team did james harden because they hadn't traded for them and they didn't have durant is everywhere. Count it at one but rudy rudy. Did show back up on the screen and brooklyn's play it with alan at the energy so basically re irving at a bunch of role players that blasted the jazz in new york. You know jazz nation on the fan base was kind of going crazy. The jazz a couple of games where they look like world-beater. They had a couple of games where they look really back. And tony. I wanted to ask you about this moment. That happened on live television a few weeks ago. That was really widely discussed. It started at halftime of jazz. Pelicans game when the tnt broadcast crew was discussing the game. My question to the panel. Donovan mitchell is that the point of superstardom where he can take you there. Or he's still all star status. He needs to be so go. Third option really. Yes yeah i feel like it. No talent to do it. He's a great score. Grew there but if he's not score. What else can you do. And when the game ended shack starts interviewing donovan mitchell. Who's still on the court right after the jazz victory. Yeah and he says. I said tonight. That you are one of my favorite players. But you don't have what it takes to get to the next level as central purpose on wednesday to hear what you have to say about that. I that's it i mean. What were your thoughts when you first saw that exchange so the irony of the whole thing is that the actual conversation was fair. That part of the conversation that happened at halftime that part was fair. We know the donovan. Vigil is a dynamic offensive player. We know that he is a star. We know that he is an all star. Caliber guy for him to be a superstar. He has to round out his game and do everything he's got to defend. He's got a rebound. These got make plays for others. What wasn't fair is shaquille. O'neal saying hey. I don't think that you have what it takes to get to the next level as a player. And i just wanted you to hear that. What's your reaction. And i felt bad for about donovan. Because he was really dominant in that went over to pelicans he didn't deserve to be blindsided like up on live television and frankly he handled it as about as well as you handle something like that. My rookie year norms gonna get better mood. I do wonder cuba. The look on his face. Kind of indicated that he wasn't happy you know about the question but at the same time he's always been a person that knows how to express himself. I think he's a guy that's kinda. Learn how to lockout the proverbial outside noise and kind of focus on what he has to do and i think a desk one of the reasons why he's improved so much as a player.

Because we have to take all the game from friday saturday and sunday. I think we're starting with the bronze medalist. We ever really gone over this for first time doing it. Bronze medallists paul george. Hey way off the playoff. Who knows but i know on a sleepy night in january. There's very few guys. You'd rather have thirty nine points quiet. Leonard didn't have it. He prevented the clippers from having back to back losses for the first time all year. Leonard your bronze medallist. So medallist. Jamal murray while call the yolk. We're gonna triple jamal. Murray just drops a thirty six five and four to lead the nuggets to a critical win after a bad one and four start and then your gold medallist. There is no question about it. This might be the performance of the year. One wardell stephen curry with sixty two points in thirty six minutes. Which by the way does mean step in dream on last night combined for sixty points. "Away this off season and he decided some. Of the other jobs out there ACLU including apparently this one were promising. I've loved to see what he's going to do. Zach Levine I, I think that that's going to be very interesting partnership. I thought Zach did a good job trying to adjust to a very forceful coach in Jim Boylan who was not adjusting to him, and we'll have to see if he and billy forge more of what would be a partnership instead of a top down approach I'm looking forward to that. All right guys I do now want to turn to the News Brianna Taylor case in Louisville Kentucky Grand. Jury today indicted a single former police officer for shooting into neighboring. But did not bring a charge against any of the officers for their role in Taylor's death. The grand jury said that former officer Brett Hankinson was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment in connection to the police raid Taylor's home. Taylor who was asleep when officers entered her home using a no knock warrant during a narcotics investigation on the night of March thirteenth was shot multiple times. The warrant us to search her home was connected to a suspect who didn't even live. A lawyer for Taylor's Family Ben crump called the chargers quote offensive and outrageous NBA players have been very outspoken throughout the Orlando Restart demanding justice in this case, calling on Kentucky Attorney, General Daniel Cameron to act. Karen. Did speak today at a news conference after the charges were made public. He said that the officers announced themselves and the use of force was. Justified to protect themselves. Reaction will continue but here's what some of players are saying already Donovan Mitchell who played college ball at the university. Of Louisville tweets I don't have many words right now but all I can say is I'm praying for the city, of Louisville Another Ex Louisville Cardinal mantras Harold tweeting I lived in the bill for three years of my life and it became another home for me. But Wow, what is happening? These are the charges you come up with nothing to say but wow. Speechless Richard players have been advocating on behalf Brandon Taylor since the NBA bubble was created. How devastating is this who wanted? Justice for her why think is devastating for the players but put more importantly I I I think the family Brianna Taylor and we saw it coming you. You'd have to be a little bit blind when you knew that the National Guard was going to be in Louisville and that you know the police were there was no vacation. There was no nothing. Everybody was basically on call to me that just kind of foreshadowed that there wasn't going. To be the type of charges that the public kind of wanted in. So I I first and foremost about the family and I think that's what the devastating news is. Four is not necessarily personally, but it's more of just understanding that her family deserve justice that Brianna Taylor, deserve justice, and we're not even going to discuss the fact that it took six months for this to come about and so even there you see the lack a speedy. Kind of situation and and getting all the facts together and so Hopefully you know they can actually you know get this charged to stick and and you we can start to figure out how to improve our system I think that's the most important thing. Man. This is This is very crushing. Crushing News today obviously like Rj said, they had been kind of setting this up for the last couple of days You. Know her family deserves a lot better. She deserved a lot better obviously. There's just typical you know is typical is harmful and as we are here trying to continue to. Make, good and make better you know our our communities and our societies. These type of things continue to set you back. Obviously I'm I'm not a prosecutor I don't know all of what happened but I know what I read and I know. We all deserve so much better than this So it's just unfortunate and I just pray I pray for a family. No sincerity. There's obviously a level of shock that comes in terms of even if they telegraphed, it is Johnson and Richard said there sort of like This is the story over does it end like this? Is this really the end of it and I think once that shockers just you know there will be action in obedience to see what that action is. But right now it's just a level of a level of shock and dismay and it's not an NBA story. Even if the players are tweeting about it, but I do think it shows no. Rachel. said the players have been outspoken during the restart in Orlando I think the players of showing there's not gonna be any qualifications going forward about during the restart in Orlando they have taken a leadership role they're gonNA keep taking a leadership role and this is just going to be a reality of their role. In the discourse is is going away and good on them. A lot of people say, well, once they leave the bubble, they'll kick up on the couch and not pay attention and all that. Absolutely not they've proven that's not the can and there's been so many times in the last months years decades were you have low expectations of some of these public officials and they still manage to slither. Underneath it and in this particular case I, think when this news came out today, what hit me as so hurtful. So insulting was that the chargers brought were for her neighbors. Even now, even six months after this happened after after all of the marching and the calls for justice and the scrutiny and the attention of this case and the power of so many people who have a voice in this country saying we needed justice for Briana Taylor. It was the black woman who was shot in her bed. Who No charges were brought in connection with that, it was a charge of her neighbors where this was wanton disregard by firing a gun in a way that could have harmed them, and it is a reflection of how so many black women are seen by so many officials in this country and I I would just say that there are so many voting campaigns going on right here in this bubble by NBA players in the WNBA bubble as well. People should vote for whoever they want, but they should be keep in mind that voting is not just for the president of the United States, it is for A. Guy Who are running your state who decide the kinds of things lake this today. So I would just urge everyone that no matter who you vote for and it is a wide spectrum please vote up and down the ballot because it really really matters. All right. We'll be right..

"It's Kendrick Non Kelly Olympic Derek Don Jr. those are the guys that you need them. You need one of those guys to start kind of impacting the game, but they're up to one and those guys haven't played up to their capabilities for for a variety of reason again, Andrea dollar. He's one of those guys that even if he's not shooting the ball, well, his defense, his impacting the game from that stands even playmaking. So I really I'm not worried about their bench I just think that they are going to have to pick it up because once you get Gordon Hayward back and is a guy that you know over the course of the rest of the series, his game is going to continue to elevate. He's seventeen point A. Game score so he's going to elevate. So that means that they're now the kind of the pressure is on that bench to also meet that elevation wall. He's been playing good. I mean the four it was like it too. I'm just saying he's Out of bounds. And Yokich wasn't GonNa Block the shot right. As I look just one more dribble. Go up strong make fadeaway. Ended the shock lack the joker on an array of moves on eighty and hits the fade. I'm supposed to. Ask you how he makes looks look easy but it does not look easy this one's hard. No his foot work again, we'd like something that we see we're not even talking about his hands. We saw the tip that he had engaged in game two, the man like hand and his footwork is it literally got to be top five we've ever seen. Foot one legged shot is because he hadn't sprained ankle and still wanted to shoot and so that's what he worked on a now. No one can stop when he does it phasing. Beautiful. Talk, a little more nuggets they had the lead with two point one seconds to go in game two before ad hit that insane game winner. Then you go to game three the nuggets up as many as twenty points they lead for every minute of the final three quarters although la great the run.

"Tingling a little bit, you would have avoided the entire Kyrie experience. If you had taken Jamal married, I might be worth it alone my go-to something to ponder. I think the point of this exercise is comparative exercise here is to. Let everyone know number one. There's an awful lot of twenty three and under talent out there they're all those guys who we were describing twenty three and under and it's also to let everyone know, hey, it's time to give Jamal Murray his do he's a player I was very impressed by in last year's playoffs he was very up and down I mean there were some games or he was just completely terrible frankly but there was also other games where he was showing some flashes of what he's doing here and it was last year's playoffs weren't exercise in building his confidence and comfort. You could just tell from the messaging for Michael Malone it was like We've got to keep this guy just you know locked in mentally and believing in himself because he's just that important you fast forward to the bubble and the other night and Michael Malone he tends to. Get up, get up in front of the microphones and grandstand a little bit i. think he knows what he's doing. He realizes he's in a smaller market. They don't get as much media attention. He tries to have the the catchy sound bites regularly. He's not afraid to get after his team after a big loss, but he made a comment earlier in the series that Jamal Murray is becoming a superstar before is on the biggest stage, right? That's a big. Time quote from a coach because that puts a lot of expectations and pressure on a young player and they're not gonna go out there and just stay that Willy Nilly you could tell that he mentored and you could tell that he's feeling something special behind the scenes as well as what we're seeing on the court for him to Kinda. Give that label. You're also not going to say that when you have a superstar level player. Yokich. On your roster. Unless it's true because you're not trying to ruffle feathers in any direction right so that one open my eyes when Michael Malone said it. And you know certainly Murray lived up to it the very next game I want to give you a couple of crazy stats. Real quick. Here is list of players who have at least three forty point games in the same first-round playoff series throughout. NBA History. Okay. Donovan Mitchell and Jamal Murray both in this series. Bernard King. Michael Jordan twice and Lebron James..

"What's up open for globe? This is Ben Gordon with the Washington Post I am joined on the other line by Michael, the pod Pena Michael the last time we talked have leave was Thursday in the NBA in its players were just putting together. Or putting back together, I should say the NBA bubble after a shutdown caused and triggered by the Milwaukee Bucks decision not to take the court last Wednesday they put things back together I gotta say in a pretty remarkably quick fashion games resumed on Saturday. Teams are now being eliminated left and right. We are almost ready to commence the final eight. The second round of the playoffs here we should have that field set I believe by no later than Wednesday Michael. So it's all happening I want to get into some of the discussion about. The decision, the bucks made how was received by their peers what kind of initiatives the players looked to get from the owners before they got back on the court. But before we do that I, think we had a real headlining game late last night between the Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz, and I think you and I or maybe just I, jokingly said Oh this is the series that everyone's going to be ignoring. No one's GONNA. Care about that fly over mountain time zone. Okay. Idiot completely wrong. This has been one of the most entertaining head to head playoff tools. We've seen in a long time last night Jamal Murray went for fifty points five rebounds six assists it did it feel like he missed a single shot all night he shot seventeen for twenty four from the field nine of twelve on three seven of nine from the free throw line that was to outduel Donovan Mitchell who had his third forty point game of the series. With forty four points, six rebounds five assists on nine of thirteen threes fourteen of twenty, five from the field. So these guys are just going absolutely bonkers as this is setting up a game seven between these two teams Michael did you watch the game. Did you see Jamal Murray's just unbelievable post game interview which Jared Greenberg of TNT incredibly raw and emotional. Did you see the picture of him? You know doubled over exhausted in the tunnel back to the locker room looking like just motion Lee spent. After a long night. What did you make the seen an unbelievable performance all around. On. So many different levels that you just covered been. Let's start with just him on the court I mean. It's so funny. I was thinking about our conversation after the Luca performance are Luke pod which we dedicated to him, and we were discussing what players young players that we would put in the conversation with Luca in terms of future ceiling. If you could start a franchise with et Cetera and we never mentioned Jamal Murray and we didn't because you got hung hung up on tatum. Throw. Children into the mix..

"Disappointed tunique disappointed. I'm disappointed in Zubin because he had that segue in his pocket and it didn't work. I, wasn't. Finished, making jokes. We'll see Donald. I'd get up at eight eastern time and the best part about that. It'll be a keyshawn free zone so he can get everything he needs to get in and it'll be all good dominique. Thank you so. We're going to talk to nick nurse. Steel hurt though. Him being gay on it. was vicious could be a good sponsorship opportunity for Ben. Gay. If you're there, eight thirty am eastern time NICK NURSE IS GONNA join us. He was a part of that team meeting that the raptors had with regard to possibly boycotting game. One of the Eastern Conference finals tomorrow against the Celtics. We should also mention nick nurse was a runaway choice for the NBA coach of the year. So there's plenty to talk to him about Oh by the way the defending champions with. Leonard that's all coming up eight thirty, A. M. Eastern time. There has been some discussion. Was it right to go to the bubble we heard yesterday George Hill talk about going there and having a platform. But what does it really mean nick nurse essentially said when everybody rolled in late July. The bubble gave them a stage that ordinarily. These players and some of these teams would not normally have, and for that reason, and that reason alone it's been worth it. We have a platform here and I think playing still gives us a chance to use that platform more than not playing does that would stay that that has not changed remain and I think that we need to continue to. The issues need to continue to be dealt with and talked about and seriously scrutinized all this stuff all do better. We need all work together. That's no question about it. Nick nurse is GONNA. Join US again eight thirty am eastern, and if you're more interested in the NFL talk with the Lions canceling practice in protests, we'll talk about it with our Super Bowl champion Ryan. Clark. At seven thirty, A. M. Eastern time. Stay tuned for that Jay Nick Nurse Pretty Clear there that they are in it to win it but there's also a larger reason to be in the ball. I'll say this, there will be no boycott until the Bron, James puts his stamp on it. The Brian James is the Mohammed Ali of the NBA. He is Jim Brown of the NBA. That's how NBA Players Look Lebron James. So hearing George Hill talk about he doesn't feel like being here. Fine hearing Frat band bleed top we put our blinks on the line fine. All these things are fine. But the person who leads us movement is Lebron James Think about clutch sports. Club sports represents close to thirty players in the NBA think about how that trickle down effect leads to the NFL. The Relationship Lebron has with OB J. Cleveland, Browns Jarvis Landry, caught sports, represents Jarvis Landry. Okay. They present Melvin Gordon the players the cast say that they have Lebron James will be the person to lead that movement. So if we get to a point where we're talking about players truly boycotting the NBA League that has put black lives matter on the court and I. Hear what Fred is saying to make change to have owners used their power with lobbyists to actually push for legislation but in order for that to happen I know it's unfair but that way will be on the shoulders. Lebron. Star power is extremely important in this situation is no question about it You mentioned clutch sports in a number of clients that Lebron and his his crew manage represent whether it's Ben Simmons or ad who plays with him or Lebron himself for Landry or just. Any players in professional sports when one guy like Lebron makes the decision to step out front everybody else is going to follow what it. Say is the King Plane King plane. We're all playing. That's just that's what it is. I somewhat agree with Nick nurse by saying that this is a platform, the people outside the bubble. They can still stay in the bubble and get the message across much like the browns talked about is US outside the bubble that have to continue to push into our athletes come outside the bubble to join forces with us to continue to push it doesn't mean because. You in the bubble that you also isolate yourself from the rest of the world, they're still active in. There's people out there. That are still active. We gotta keep doing what we're doing on nist platform that we're on right now the we gotta keep sending a message in now be afraid of people talking smack to us on social media about stick to sports doc rivers. At all listen to his comments at the top of the L.. O. J. Will..

"I. To bring up some tape you. The bricks. I run up into breaks. Out I would say, let me apologize because sure based on what about the ass you you've already answered this and many times many shows over the last several days I just haven't seen it. Yeah. I. Wanted to nine as already. Keyshawn Johnson was the best receiver ever played against him. Stop. On a serious note I saying say. I. Want you to elaborate on your feelings about what took place in Wisconsin with Jacob Blake, because I. Haven't I know you probably have I just haven't zero and I want to know. On it I haven't yet. I think it's. As I'll be on, get up later talking about it but I think it's a really tough. Situation to to the saddest thing is not surprised. You know like it's not news it's not new to people like us and it's upsetting and frustrating I'm encouraged more than anything because it seems like the the tenor of the country, the perception of the country exchange. Point where people are looking for reasons to blame blake and seems like by and large most people understand that no matter what happens in any situation this is any particular situation. This happens far too often and dissect in particular of any particular situation to me seems like a waste of time when we understand that what's going on and what has gone on something that. Is, terrifying and it's scary in our country will never be the country that it expects to be until it addresses the many not just the police brutality and and. Police violence issue but the many issues that. Are Barriers frankly for black people in this country. So like I will never be the country that we say we want to be until we addressed that peculiar or that the problems that stem from the peculiar institution of slavery. So that's I feel like it's a really broad. Way To answer that question but that's how I feel when I see stuff like that. It's just it's The same stuff that we all know has existed for a while, not all of us but many of us knows existed for awhile and some of us are highly coming to understand is a real problem meek. You have so much insight on how these labor negotiations pan out seeing the lines canceled practice the other day. If you were to give advice to athletes about the one way, they could create change if that's the legislation. Wise. What advice would you give them on how to do that? I think the first move is to get informed and also understand that not everyone has to be a spokesperson, not everyone's bill for that and not everyone. Is She didn't have to be their responsibility I think I would say the same thing that I'm saying to athletes to anybody in country who wants to impact this is that there microaggressions that set us back and there can be a small actions that push us forward. So what are you in any aspect of life where you have impact you should be able to. You should be willing to push in that way and be conscious of everything. You say everything you do a knows a lot of pressure to be aware of all the time we're not all going to be perfect but be conscious that every little decision you make has some little impact on somebody else, and that's how our society is built and that's what forms the institutions. In the rules that we live under. So being aware of all that and and being conscious that your actions matter and if you have the conviction in the bravery, frankly to step up and take some more radical action, don't be afraid like we see the cycle works the same way every time it feels like when someone is ridiculed for stepping out eventually the world. Comes around and understands that that person was right and that cycle is so much faster. Now than it was back in the day of say Muhammad Ali you see capper Nick Exchange Kapernick is you by most I think now as an American hero when at the time he was dude as somebody who was doing the wrong thing so that their bravery should extend to everybody. No matter where you are and our society I get frustrated honestly happens to me sometimes to where I find myself pointing at CEO's or coaches or someone else who is in a leader leadership position and tell them that they need to fix it and I think the the real truth is that we need to make them, fix it and I think. To bring us full circle back to Fred van. Vanfleet I think that's what he's. He's pointing to is like look you guys aren't GonNa fix it. So we're GONNA, make you so uncomfortable as uncomfortable as the rest of us are until you address the issues that we are seeing persistent our society now the fun part House.

"We're going to bring in Dominic Foxworth here in just one second because we're going to ask him his comments on the raptors perhaps boycotting their game with the Celtics tomorrow in the Eastern Conference Semifinals Nick Nurse Raptors head coach will be here at eight thirty am eastern to talk about it simply put. Can It happen than bleed? said the team had a meeting? Yes. They're all in. Florida. His eyes are on Wisconsin and his message is putting pressure on other players in the NBA. Listen to this. We know no come coming here or not coming here wasn't going to stop anything but I think ultimately ultimately like. Planned or not planned puts pressure on somebody. So for example, just happened to Kenosha Wisconsin for. You know it'd be nice. If if in a perfect world, we all say were not plan and the owner of the Milwaukee Bucks. You know that's going to trickle down if he steps up. Put pressure on, you know District Attorney's Office State's attorneys and governor is in politicians there to to make a change and get some justice i. Know it's not that simple but. At the end of the day, if we're going to sit here and talk about making change within some has to put on on and actually you know. Something up to lose rather than just money or Keyshawn Djabel Zubin presented by progressive insurance. It's time for straight talk brought to you by straight talk wireless. Let's go straight to the Shell Pennzoil performance line strong comments there by Fred van Dominic Foxworth from the undefeated played in the national football league partisan NBA Labor negotiations as well. Really has pulse on the finger of what's going on in multiple sports good, morning dominique first things. First, this is something key and I were talking about before the show and I think it bears worth repeating what exactly would be the point of boycott there's a symbolic gesture there but what does it really do? Well I. Think. Van bleep laid it out pretty clearly while he said, he doesn't know that he understand that it's not as simple as maybe he laid it out I think the point is you pull the levers that you can pull. I'm not sure what more radical thing you could expect from a player in this situation then boycott. So I've frankly I'm just happy that I'm on their side and it's not always clear. Necessarily an understand when you feel desperate, you pull all the. Levers press all the buttons that you can, and if it happens to be the right one that means that you won't show up for a game. Then that's just what it happened to be. I'm just happy that I am on the same side with them because it appears to me that they are quite focusing quite motivated to get something to happen and I think the point that bamboo believe mate was that is not necessarily a message to the DA's office in. and Milwaukee or in Wisconsin, it's a message to the other players around the league, the ownership around the League and the Commissioner's Office. It's a message to them that they better get on board and they'd better do the same things because they're the repercussions of actions that are happening industry with police that pertained to black people. The repercussions will not only just rest on on black people in the communities and the the families of the people who were. Impacted by this so I think it's a brave thing to step out there and do I don't know that I would ever have the guts to do something like that. But I'm happy to stand on the side with them and be able to be willing to defend them encourage them if that's what they need in this moment nique is one thing for. Me To say that it's another thing to see Lebron James Kawhi Leonard Big players in the game actually do that how feasible is it that those players would do something like that Yeah I think it was a stretch honestly like Zubin mentioned that I've been a part of labor negotiations for a NBA and the NFL and that's when. Van Bleeds said you have to put your think we blinked it out. So I won't say if we already bleeped it out but you have to put your bleeps on the line like that happens in labor negotiations all the time you get to the end eleventh hour and you're like look, are you going to pass up these checks or not? Normally that's one the players back down frankly because the alternative is a pretty good and no one wants to. Miss. Out On checks because they want to get a little bit better. But the idea that these guys are actually going to do it I think it's probably a log sat honestly but the fact that they put it out there I think suggests that at least some of the players are serious about it and I, know before we went into the bubble before the NBA went into the bubble Kyrie was one of the guys talking about not showing up. Avery Bradley ended up not showing up. So some guys obviously are willing to do that but I'm not sure that you can expect the whole team to do it or the entire lead to do it. We saw the lions passed up on a practice yesterday to send a message Bush but obviously, a practice is much different than boycotting an entire playoff game like that's a huge message and when the player for talking about they're going to bubble and not. Allow this to take away from this social justice things that were that were taking place I think they've done a good job of mentioning it in their interviews or bringing books to press conferences don't whatever they can do to give us in the media opportunity to continue to talk about it. But this will be enormous like this will be an earth shattering decision that will certainly think shaping up and more likely than not lead to some advancements and some pressure. On people outside of the NBA Fox for a minute just think what if? The star players to side it that they Lebron James's a quiet linens or the world just make a decision. Decide you know what this may be the only way that we're going to be able to send this message. Do you think star players talking about decide to check out? Do you think it will affect some other leagues like the NFL where we will start to see star players because typically stars aligned with stars and kind of each other lease? Do you think that that can trickle down to potentially the NFL?.

NBA NFL Wisconsin Dominic Foxworth Keyshawn Djabel Zubin Fred van Dominic Foxworth Lebron James Milwaukee Bucks Nick Nurse Kenosha Wisconsin raptors Florida Van bleep Shell Pennzoil Celtics Van Bleeds Milwaukee Lebron James Kawhi Avery Bradley

"Now I want to mention this Jay because this is something no, you're very hot on the reason I say this has been going on in the League for a while you might remember and I know you guys both loved the Commissioner Adam Silver and I do too just because he's really he's Cathartic he says things, right so this is what he told everybody be last I would say last March quote this is silver. On his own players way prepay data says after the Kyrie, Irving comments in commerce is it the Mit Sloan sports analytics conference where all the stat heads get together quote from Silver March two, thousand, nineteen when I meet with them is the players when I meet with them what surprises me is that there truly unhappy a lot of these young men they are generally unhappy I think it's less calculated and a lot of people think he said the reality is that most don't WanNa play together. There's enormous. Amongst our players he went on to say if you're around a team in this day and age, there are always headphones on silver said, the players are isolated and they had their heads down obviously Georgia saying he was a little claustrophobic a little lost in the moment of the bubble you can't really see your family but Adam, silver's saying Jay and you know this is something that's been going on for a while. Yeah. I don't really think that that quote is applicable to Paul George in this situation though I I get without him was talking about then I still think that is relevant to a degree but I think this one's a little bit different. And look for all fans out there key there are going to say hail, your job is just the way basketball and what I would say to combat that is if I have a hard day at work if you're out there, you're working really hard day you work from seven o'clock in the morning until five o'clock at night. So you have a bad day we walk in the door. Of Your home my wife has checked me multiple times about whatever happened at work leave at the doorstep when I see my daughter when she runs out to me when you see your kids and naturally forces you to be present with them. Right you know you. You may take a little bit of your bad day into into your home for a second, but that's can other we'll slap. You will knock you out of your way and get you out of your own funk. Right that recalibrate you think about the game you see your kid or you see your family member, you see your friends who was the worse right word. You need somebody to help you recalibrate you. So I feel what Paul George is saying think about how that Echo Chamber is expanded when you don't. Have people to recalibrate you. You can't walk into home. You can't see your friends you can't get out of your way. Now you're on your phone now people asking your boys, how community the wall what do you think it is you're consumed by you can't get out of it and I think that's challenging when you're in a bubble I think that's what Paul doors was referring you know. The interesting thing is he figured out a way to get out of it in go twelve eighteen. Fifty percent from the deep three, thirty, five points as you mentioned, impair with Kawais thirty two, and if that's the situation for the clippers, they're gonNA be a tough team down the stretch. There's no question about it. They are going to be a tough team It's always like you mentioned bad games bad. This I when I was saying easy. When I play it was. A whether you like if we lost the game. Or I had a gay difficult game I was the worst to be around for the next twenty four hours. It was just what would you do when you like after bad game? Would you go home? Would you buy yourself? No typically like you know how excited? I had a lot of friends family that would come to all my games with I travelled or whatever the case may be in if I'm if I'm at home. I would just like. You know normally we would go to eat after the game, but if didn't go right. To me. It wasn't even no need to go dimiar gone. Do Child need to do if you WANNA hit China Club or whatever the case may be. Cheetahs or whatever y'all go do that on your own catch up Charlie later on I'm not in then when I get home I, might just. Myself completely from everybody. In not talk to him and just kind you know an up like I'm not sleeping. I'm back at the FI I'm watching the film in my room trying to figure out it just was one of those situations where mentally it became so much consumed. Oh assume and it's a lot because there's so much pressure on you as a star player to deliver and you.

But I can imagine throw a no hitter in your down to the last couple of strike outs and you just the pressure that is on you to get that no hitter no question about it. For both of them, considering what they've gone through over the last couple of years, people kind of discounting them not thinking they were going to pan out no question about it. "What was the better player in this game? I'll give you three to pick from. Yokich is crazy three at the end of the first quarter. Mitchell's dunk on Michael Porter Jr. which was huge. Or Murray's three sixty layup around go barely which one you go with what you got. It's down to the three sixty or the shot for me because your kids just off the wrong foot like that. Coming down at the end of the quarter I think he was five for five from five for five in the Gordon hit that six Mars was spectacular. But I'M GONNA. Go I'm GonNa go yoke just. Unexpected I guess. The way that he just he comes down and it's like confused which forty supposed to jump off but he just let it fly. So high in the air and he was complaining that he didn't get a foul call on his he wanted the four point place. I'll take. Yokich. Okay. I'm going Murray come on I. Mean Oh against. Two you can stay home early wine like trae said it. That's the smoothest play. We've seen all the entire bubble that was unbelievable. And how he finished Tool Jelly Guy He's a fun. He is really fun when he's locked in and he has been locked in for a good chunk of the series. Kenny do it for game six, and then possibly a game seven, I mean Jeez I. Know. You're. From him but he would just straight up like two minutes ago he just ice owed on. Donovan Mitchell like this is why the series hilariously funny it's like all right. Here we go. It's like feels like Like Rucker Park or something like Venice. Beach. We need somebody on the mic drop in the old thing. Because that's what it feels like. All right. Here we go. Let's see if you can break them down the ice on Mitchell he stopped on a dime with like that behind the back dribble, hit the jumper, and then not long after like a minute and a half to go royces autumn Roy so neil now and he got to the exact same spot after a nice little lake crossover drive that him created enough room just to get that jumper that little step back jumper to go, and then he did set up your kitchen the corning corner really late Yokich did score in the second half of it was just like in the final and whatever thirty seconds but he knocking down. Yeah, superfund I'm doubtful. He can do it again like you said Lee for another game and then maybe another game on that he's going to have to well I wouldn't be surprised if he does it, it's just whether or not invoke insurance themselves defensively get any sort of contribution from anybody else because Marty's a bull that I wanted to ask you guys is let's let's. Let's make one of these stupid questions do if you had to pick one guy who you building your franchise around tomorrow Mario Donovan, Mitchell for what you got. Who? Jaw Mitchell. Even go far and I am smart gigantic joe-marie fan as I've said, many times he's the least Canadian Canadian of all time and I'm here poor because he's unapologetic he's an American and I love it. But I go. Donovan. Mitchell still to. Mitch I think Mitchell today still his complete body of work is still better than marriage but. Mary can sort of keep this up for season I. Think it's it's. Mitchell how old is he I know? Three and a lot of days he's almost twenty four. So they're pretty close in age I guess Yeah Yeah. You can't go wrong with either. They're fun to watch and you're right I. thought it was over the series was over I mean as great as Yokich was early the jazz. All series long dominated the third quarter and they had elite at the half and then they built it up at the start of Alec. Well, that's a wrap I. Mean it's a fifteen point game. The nuggets are GonNa like we're done this place. Let's just go home and then yeah, they finally got a few stops going and then Jamal caught fire and the actually won the third quarter and they kept the jazz to a very respectable like twenty three points. And then there was suddenly back in this game. But yeah, I thought for sure they were done. I don't know about you guys watching this one is like all right. Well, this series is over let's start looking ahead to who they're GONNA play the Utah Jazz but it's still potentially a series. I mean you wonder is the pressure on the jazz now to win game six even though there's no homecourt advantage and stuff like that. Are you saying it's a must win game for the Jazz I don't know it kind of feels like. It might be but it's so silly because again there's no homecourt you're not going to back to play in the the altitude there for a game seven. So I, don't know I guess I sort of feels that way to me and yeah, could happen I don't know. Well, the thing is that neither of these teams is super consistent right? That's been the shock is that the jazz looked pretty consistent through the first four games and the first three quarters of this one they just didn't do it in the fourth quarter of game five. It's also very strange to be watching this game at like seven o'clock because both of these teams are in mountain time. So you're thinking, wow, this is a this is an early game for them wait? No, no, no no they're just an Orlando playing basketball like they have been for the past couple of months. Is it a must win in game six? Yeah. You don't WanNa go to a game seven Jamal Murray's got a game win under his belt who? More experience in the game seven six, they had two of them last year not wrong Jordan Clarkson to for the jazz played really well in the first half and then couldn't have shot in the second half that was a big part of this game too because he was rolling in the first quarter first-half excuse me and then he's been good all of this series of incredible off the bench but. Is Jordan. Clarkson I think like. You're asking a lot if you need them to try and score you twenty five every game, he's going to have his moments, but he went ice cold. He was just missing some shots and he's going to shoot them. That's boy Clarkson and keep shoot them. But Luckily, for the nuggets he he missed anything else to add to this one. I just want to see how Denver comes out in the first half of game number six because they saved their season with their backs against the wall when they came out of the locker room, not in the first but in the second half that's. That's what happened. They really just save their ass when it was absolutely against the wall, they've got to do it for a full game and and so I'm not really inspired by them coming out when they see only twenty four minutes on the clock or we're going home..
