LeBron leads Lakers to Finals

"Assists to close it out to make it to the finals. Did you know last year when they were injury red, and he didn't make it to the playoffs, that he had taken eight consecutive trips with Miami in Cleveland? That is just absolutely crazy to me, so he's going No surprises there when they were up 31. I think it was kind of a done deal. I couldn't envision Denver. Doing it again after they came down from came back from 31 deficits against the Jazz, and then the Clippers like there's just no chance with the star power. Oh, and just the weapons of the Lakers have for for Denver to overcome that absolutely great run for Yokich in Jamal Murray, But you know all things coming to an end and LeBron trying in his career fourth player to reach tense finals. In fact, only three franchises have actually made MBA finals. ATT over 10 Times. LeBron is his own franchise to begin with, right?

"Away this off season and he decided some. Of the other jobs out there ACLU including apparently this one were promising. I've loved to see what he's going to do. Zach Levine I, I think that that's going to be very interesting partnership. I thought Zach did a good job trying to adjust to a very forceful coach in Jim Boylan who was not adjusting to him, and we'll have to see if he and billy forge more of what would be a partnership instead of a top down approach I'm looking forward to that. All right guys I do now want to turn to the News Brianna Taylor case in Louisville Kentucky Grand. Jury today indicted a single former police officer for shooting into neighboring. But did not bring a charge against any of the officers for their role in Taylor's death. The grand jury said that former officer Brett Hankinson was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment in connection to the police raid Taylor's home. Taylor who was asleep when officers entered her home using a no knock warrant during a narcotics investigation on the night of March thirteenth was shot multiple times. The warrant us to search her home was connected to a suspect who didn't even live. A lawyer for Taylor's Family Ben crump called the chargers quote offensive and outrageous NBA players have been very outspoken throughout the Orlando Restart demanding justice in this case, calling on Kentucky Attorney, General Daniel Cameron to act. Karen. Did speak today at a news conference after the charges were made public. He said that the officers announced themselves and the use of force was. Justified to protect themselves. Reaction will continue but here's what some of players are saying already Donovan Mitchell who played college ball at the university. Of Louisville tweets I don't have many words right now but all I can say is I'm praying for the city, of Louisville Another Ex Louisville Cardinal mantras Harold tweeting I lived in the bill for three years of my life and it became another home for me. But Wow, what is happening? These are the charges you come up with nothing to say but wow. Speechless Richard players have been advocating on behalf Brandon Taylor since the NBA bubble was created. How devastating is this who wanted? Justice for her why think is devastating for the players but put more importantly I I I think the family Brianna Taylor and we saw it coming you. You'd have to be a little bit blind when you knew that the National Guard was going to be in Louisville and that you know the police were there was no vacation. There was no nothing. Everybody was basically on call to me that just kind of foreshadowed that there wasn't going. To be the type of charges that the public kind of wanted in. So I I first and foremost about the family and I think that's what the devastating news is. Four is not necessarily personally, but it's more of just understanding that her family deserve justice that Brianna Taylor, deserve justice, and we're not even going to discuss the fact that it took six months for this to come about and so even there you see the lack a speedy. Kind of situation and and getting all the facts together and so Hopefully you know they can actually you know get this charged to stick and and you we can start to figure out how to improve our system I think that's the most important thing. Man. This is This is very crushing. Crushing News today obviously like Rj said, they had been kind of setting this up for the last couple of days You. Know her family deserves a lot better. She deserved a lot better obviously. There's just typical you know is typical is harmful and as we are here trying to continue to. Make, good and make better you know our our communities and our societies. These type of things continue to set you back. Obviously I'm I'm not a prosecutor I don't know all of what happened but I know what I read and I know. We all deserve so much better than this So it's just unfortunate and I just pray I pray for a family. No sincerity. There's obviously a level of shock that comes in terms of even if they telegraphed, it is Johnson and Richard said there sort of like This is the story over does it end like this? Is this really the end of it and I think once that shockers just you know there will be action in obedience to see what that action is. But right now it's just a level of a level of shock and dismay and it's not an NBA story. Even if the players are tweeting about it, but I do think it shows no. Rachel. said the players have been outspoken during the restart in Orlando I think the players of showing there's not gonna be any qualifications going forward about during the restart in Orlando they have taken a leadership role they're gonNA keep taking a leadership role and this is just going to be a reality of their role. In the discourse is is going away and good on them. A lot of people say, well, once they leave the bubble, they'll kick up on the couch and not pay attention and all that. Absolutely not they've proven that's not the can and there's been so many times in the last months years decades were you have low expectations of some of these public officials and they still manage to slither. Underneath it and in this particular case I, think when this news came out today, what hit me as so hurtful. So insulting was that the chargers brought were for her neighbors. Even now, even six months after this happened after after all of the marching and the calls for justice and the scrutiny and the attention of this case and the power of so many people who have a voice in this country saying we needed justice for Briana Taylor. It was the black woman who was shot in her bed. Who No charges were brought in connection with that, it was a charge of her neighbors where this was wanton disregard by firing a gun in a way that could have harmed them, and it is a reflection of how so many black women are seen by so many officials in this country and I I would just say that there are so many voting campaigns going on right here in this bubble by NBA players in the WNBA bubble as well. People should vote for whoever they want, but they should be keep in mind that voting is not just for the president of the United States, it is for A. Guy Who are running your state who decide the kinds of things lake this today. So I would just urge everyone that no matter who you vote for and it is a wide spectrum please vote up and down the ballot because it really really matters. All right. We'll be right..

"It's Kendrick Non Kelly Olympic Derek Don Jr. those are the guys that you need them. You need one of those guys to start kind of impacting the game, but they're up to one and those guys haven't played up to their capabilities for for a variety of reason again, Andrea dollar. He's one of those guys that even if he's not shooting the ball, well, his defense, his impacting the game from that stands even playmaking. So I really I'm not worried about their bench I just think that they are going to have to pick it up because once you get Gordon Hayward back and is a guy that you know over the course of the rest of the series, his game is going to continue to elevate. He's seventeen point A. Game score so he's going to elevate. So that means that they're now the kind of the pressure is on that bench to also meet that elevation wall. "Well. This night is going to be remembered for a long time and there's a whole bunch of different reasons why people are gonNA remember it. The laker fans have their reasons. the clippers fans have their reasons. The nuggets fans have their reasons I think I just clip. Yeah they're there It's it's rough right now. I mean I I I think any team that had duplex have experienced. What just there? That is a devastating blow, but I think I just watched. McMahon I'll see if you agree. was. An Absolute Total grade a choke. Oh, not just. All much in the three one aspect I mean that jokes who actually in the three one aspect especially in the blowing double figure leads in the last three games while choke in that even setting that aside, I'm just talking about the actual performance of night. Oh, what it only took him seven minutes in the fourth quarter to get a bucket. Yeah. Okay. We're of P. turnovers than frequent hold on hold your fire is just for a second dinner decided the backboard hold your fire for a sector. That would i. I think what I saw was that was a historic choke job and combined with a spectacular game seven performance by the nuggets or. Spectacular Three game comeback by the neck and look. Let's give the nuggets credit to straight series down three one comeback when Bo series Yokich. There's no. Yeah. But with Yokich is at minimum a second tier superstar right behind the parental VP candidates well. He was a I hear superstar in this game. For sure. He totally eviscerated Kawai Leonard in this game and really in the back half of the series but in this game. especially. Yeah I mean he he was great in this game I mean. Just. Look at the box score Paul millsap only had six points but. his buckets were huge. He played on the better six point three rebound performances. I've ever seen Jamal Murray. We've gotta get in this guy's on the Kahane's factor starting five this year forty points in a game seven. So yes. Absolutely, give the nuggets credit and we've got time to talk nice about the nuggets. But what we need to do right now is pile on the most arrogant bunch of guys. The most Arab arrogant franchises never sniffed a frigging conference finals and hey, props to the Portland Trailblazers back court for completely unloading their troll game. Warden CJ mccollum absolutely deserved to just fire away because you got Paul George and Patrick Beverley acting like they're on some frigging dynasty. They've never sniffed the conference files. Why are they act like there's some you know I mean come on now. So yes, I. I'll be honest I thoroughly enjoyed the collapse and the troll jobs that came along with it.

Let's start with you who wins tonight? Yeah Oh. With, the big game in joker also has a big game but I, think they put the clamps on. Jamal Murray. Also big win for the Celtics little bonus pick from Kevin wiles. Brandon. No, you gotta go with the nuggets. They have all the momentum. Don't see how you stop this team. Especially, if they're finding the basket I, think you're going to see a big game from from Harris. You'RE GONNA see a big game from Michael Porter Jr. and then we're going to see a interesting western conference finals. Bad game by Paul George Nick Right. It's the only person in America to get this series exactly right nuggets and seven from the very beginning never wavered America. We finished off tonight.

"The Clippers have held Jamal Murray. The under 20 points, and he's shot horrendous from the field and as good as Nicole Yo coach's, and he's phenomenal. If Denver was going to win the Siri's They were going to need Jamal Murray to score a lot more than just give in to 18 points last night. So we could break it down a bunch of different ways a plethora of different ways, But to me, it's pretty simple. Clippers were just better. And there are three won because they have been able to control Jamal Murray. They got so many guys that can lock up and play defense on that team that it's made. It's made it tough on Jamal. Just how good is Kawai right now? I mean, he was one of this shy of a 30 point triple double. Now you could say, Well, Jake, The Nuggets have been here before. They're down. 31. They haven't right where they want. I'll tell you what Clippers at Utah. This team is really, really good in the more you watch him play, the more you wonder how any team is going to beat them four out of seven times. I still think the Lakers could do it. But this Clippers team is loaded and because they were so banged up throughout the regular season. We didn't really see them at full strength. Were watching them develop their chemistry in the plants right before our eyes. It's been impressive watching how they play in the NFL season kicks off tonight we're pumped up about it. Nuggets' Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray lead improved energetic effort to beat Clippers in Game 2

"Yesterday the nuggets lead. wire-to-wire top the clippers tie the series at one game apiece a little surprising sure I mean they got off to a huge lead and held onto the victory lead biggest takeaway from the nuggets game two victory over lic. So many positives take of this from Denver they jump. The clippers gave him the off punch in the mouth from the start, which is to say it was led by their styles, Jamal and nickel Yokich. They got lots of contributions from other guys as well. MILLSAP I thought was good in this game. Gary. Harris Marco Porter Jr. coming off the bench gays in the middle of a lift as well and even rant. Jeremy Grant was their defense I thought was exceptional. There was a several times where the clippers were in the pint and there was two or three Denver Nuggets, contesting shot blocking shots, and really making the clippers feel them in the paint, which is important. But the biggest takeaway for me is we knew the clippers we're GONNA come back. This is a twenty point late in the first half and it. was like in the NBA that never lost especially in the playoffs. The biggest question for me would the nuggets be able to hold onto this game and win it, and there was a crucial moment that minutes ago in the fourth quarter I think it was Po Georgia to three brought to a five point game and that was the sliding doors moment of the game. What would the nuggets through from? And began to our and just show that that first quarter net hop surge was nothing more than like. All right. We don't get swept all would they actually be able to maintain what they've played up to for that point and they did they came out and hit three threes after that and basically stretch the game out and Kinda sealed it from there. You know like it was sort of sent the message that the clippers like we're. Not going away and and again, it wasn't just Murray and Yokich was other guy is contributing and so to me it did sort of say, Oh, I, picked I, think the clippers to win this five. But after watching that performance in the way that they won that wire to wire, I'm a little more now convinced that the the the nuggets can make this series and an an a longer series I still think clip is ultimately win it. But if it goes six or seven, now, I wouldn't be surprised because I just thought that the Denver Nuggets after Guy Wander the first quarter they thought it off well, and then they just Kinda sunk from there and Michael Malone said we need to have better energy for the entire game and they absolutely did last night. So very impressive performance from everyone yokich again was great and so is Mary but really important that those other. Guys contribute and make this more than just a sort of a like a like a run in that first quarter just to get just to get system, they actually sustain that the entire game. So that's what I thought was most important for the nuggets at the something there that they can build on going forward in this

Clippers vs. Nuggets: How the teams match up for playoff series

"It's the clippers nuggets this one tips today Thursday at nine PM Eastern. interrupters. Ton of Christ, says, this is weird because that is my sister. Okay well. I. Now, it's good. Good good It's too weird. All right. The clippers took two out of three regular season Games including one twenty, four, one eleven victory in the bubble. So let's get to the keys to this series clippers nuggets, and then we'll make our predictions task whether you're watching. Well, Jamal Murray is going to be the number one objective for the clippers defensively. They're just going to be a Angel Momma and I think. This is GonNa be one series where quiet Leonard has to guard Jamaa. I think whoever's playing point guard for them is going to be too little to guard Jamal Murray whether it's beverly or Landry Shamet and I think Paul George is too big. So it's just GONNA work out. That Leonard is going to be on Jamal primarily that's going to be as matchup like it has been the last two times they played during the regular season. So that's GonNa be exciting, just watching Leonard. Have to exert a lot of energy expend energy. You know it's not just your plan pick and roll Shimomura he's going to give up the ball. He's GonNa frigging run around off ball and he's going to be dancing and I think. We know that guys are going to help out. With those guys I just mentioned and if zoo this is going to be a really big really big series for him. We saw what happened in in Utah if Rudy Gobert comes up and plays Jamal Murray. The numbers change so that's going to be there huge huge vote because this is going to be so hard for me to go and come after what he just did. Now he's going to be watching Kawai. Leonard and I think we can sort of lock in on this end of the floor because I think this is Paul. George series to take over on the other end and I think it's good Paul George. He's he feels like he had a nice fresh manscaping grooming fact that the fact that this is a new series he should feel. A little rejuvenated. Also. Because he's not going to have a tough assignment I think going up on the other end. I think Jeremy Grants going to be guarding quiet he has all year. Paul George at millsaps Tori Craig's little too small former. Michael. Porter. I don't know about that. I saw Paul George should have. The Freedom and the ability just because the defender he's going to have to go offensively and. Can expend all that energy. So I think that's what's going to happen. We're GONNA have we're going to get Jamal come back to Earth a little bit because this is the clippers defense here. Yeah

"Eligibility. Jazz nuggets Siri's has been a showdown of two young stars looking to rise to the next level. Two teams meet tonight in Game seven. Denver has posted back to back wins to force the deciding game. Donovan Mitchell has had a pair of 50 point games in the series, but Jamal Murray has had to in the last three, rallying the Nuggets after a rough start to the Siri's, the former first round pick is hoping he's found consistency. "They sat out and she's comes. Out like what happened how come they're not playing or what's going on say and started the conversation I, talk to her about Blake and about why they're mentioning about these and I think that's positive like I said, you know awareness is the start and then the action that they supposed to actually make a difference I mean again. So proud of the fact that they decided we have demand for before we come back because they know where they can have the leverage is if the players continue to sit out and now the. Hurt the owners and their pocketbook things to hurt the league hurt you know the people that can really make a difference with their money with their voices. So I think they they use our the right way and I'm really really proud to be knowledge of a wave with the Milwaukee Bucks James How surprise where you to see young star Cocoa Golf bounced in the first round of this year's us. Open considering and she is one of the young bright stars up and coming. I was a little surprised, but she had a tough massive that. WHO's a wily veteran she's had. At, the open before is so such high expectations. Honor people may may forget especially since she's so poise. Fifteen years old. So for her to I'm one match whereas maybe one and I truly believed that they were fan events you would've won that. Match because Tennis Doma was getting a little tight toward the end. If see I'm twenty thousand fans American fans screaming for Coco Golf links on a little tighter and coca gov feeds off that energy But she's fifty. She got a Lotta time left the plenty in grade beat run the US Open, and hopefully win some titles. He's a distance Mendez athlete and a tremendous. Person I can imagine and now you guys are sixteen day will I know you were pretty boys but I know I couldn't handle the pressure. She's handling fifteen and doing it with great class and I'm really impressed with her being. So we'll see what ends up happening to one of the young American stars moving forward cocoa off. This is just her fourth grade slam event. From, the young one to one of the elder statesman of the Game Serena looking for that twenty fourth Grand Slam she's warming up I was watching sportscenter she's ready to go. So is James and our team every single point of the US Open streaming or on ESPN television I know he didn't have Wimbledon this year but definitely, definitely great to have the US Open back and underway on ESPN. "What's up open for globe? This is Ben Gordon with the Washington Post I am joined on the other line by Michael, the pod Pena Michael the last time we talked have leave was Thursday in the NBA in its players were just putting together. Or putting back together, I should say the NBA bubble after a shutdown caused and triggered by the Milwaukee Bucks decision not to take the court last Wednesday they put things back together I gotta say in a pretty remarkably quick fashion games resumed on Saturday. Teams are now being eliminated left and right. We are almost ready to commence the final eight. The second round of the playoffs here we should have that field set I believe by no later than Wednesday Michael. So it's all happening I want to get into some of the discussion about. The decision, the bucks made how was received by their peers what kind of initiatives the players looked to get from the owners before they got back on the court. But before we do that I, think we had a real headlining game late last night between the Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz, and I think you and I or maybe just I, jokingly said Oh this is the series that everyone's going to be ignoring. No one's GONNA. Care about that fly over mountain time zone. Okay. Idiot completely wrong. This has been one of the most entertaining head to head playoff tools. We've seen in a long time last night Jamal Murray went for fifty points five rebounds six assists it did it feel like he missed a single shot all night he shot seventeen for twenty four from the field nine of twelve on three seven of nine from the free throw line that was to outduel Donovan Mitchell who had his third forty point game of the series. With forty four points, six rebounds five assists on nine of thirteen threes fourteen of twenty, five from the field. So these guys are just going absolutely bonkers as this is setting up a game seven between these two teams Michael did you watch the game. Did you see Jamal Murray's just unbelievable post game interview which Jared Greenberg of TNT incredibly raw and emotional. Did you see the picture of him? You know doubled over exhausted in the tunnel back to the locker room looking like just motion Lee spent. After a long night. What did you make the seen an unbelievable performance all around. On. So many different levels that you just covered been. Let's start with just him on the court I mean. It's so funny. I was thinking about our conversation after the Luca performance are Luke pod which we dedicated to him, and we were discussing what players young players that we would put in the conversation with Luca in terms of future ceiling. "Disappointed tunique disappointed. I'm disappointed in Zubin because he had that segue in his pocket and it didn't work. I, wasn't. Finished, making jokes. We'll see Donald. I'd get up at eight eastern time and the best part about that. It'll be a keyshawn free zone so he can get everything he needs to get in and it'll be all good dominique. Thank you so. We're going to talk to nick nurse. Steel hurt though. Him being gay on it. was vicious could be a good sponsorship opportunity for Ben. Gay. If you're there, eight thirty am eastern time NICK NURSE IS GONNA join us. He was a part of that team meeting that the raptors had with regard to possibly boycotting game. One of the Eastern Conference finals tomorrow against the Celtics. We should also mention nick nurse was a runaway choice for the NBA coach of the year. So there's plenty to talk to him about Oh by the way the defending champions with. Leonard that's all coming up eight thirty, A. M. Eastern time. There has been some discussion. Was it right to go to the bubble we heard yesterday George Hill talk about going there and having a platform. But what does it really mean nick nurse essentially said when everybody rolled in late July. The bubble gave them a stage that ordinarily. These players and some of these teams would not normally have, and for that reason, and that reason alone it's been worth it. We have a platform here and I think playing still gives us a chance to use that platform more than not playing does that would stay that that has not changed remain and I think that we need to continue to. The issues need to continue to be dealt with and talked about and seriously scrutinized all this stuff all do better. We need all work together. That's no question about it. Nick nurse is GONNA. Join US again eight thirty am eastern, and if you're more interested in the NFL talk with the Lions canceling practice in protests, we'll talk about it with our Super Bowl champion Ryan. Clark. At seven thirty, A. M. Eastern time. Stay tuned for that Jay Nick Nurse Pretty Clear there that they are in it to win it but there's also a larger reason to be in the ball. I'll say this, there will be no boycott until the Bron, James puts his stamp on it. The Brian James is the Mohammed Ali of the NBA. He is Jim Brown of the NBA. That's how NBA Players Look Lebron James. So hearing George Hill talk about he doesn't feel like being here. Fine hearing Frat band bleed top we put our blinks on the line fine. All these things are fine. But the person who leads us movement is Lebron James Think about clutch sports. Club sports represents close to thirty players in the NBA think about how that trickle down effect leads to the NFL. The Relationship Lebron has with OB J. Cleveland, Browns Jarvis Landry, caught sports, represents Jarvis Landry. Okay. They present Melvin Gordon the players the cast say that they have Lebron James will be the person to lead that movement. So if we get to a point where we're talking about players truly boycotting the NBA League that has put black lives matter on the court and I. Hear what Fred is saying to make change to have owners used their power with lobbyists to actually push for legislation but in order for that to happen I know it's unfair but that way will be on the shoulders. Lebron. Star power is extremely important in this situation is no question about it You mentioned clutch sports in a number of clients that Lebron and his his crew manage represent whether it's Ben Simmons or ad who plays with him or Lebron himself for Landry or just. Any players in professional sports when one guy like Lebron makes the decision to step out front everybody else is going to follow what it. Say is the King Plane King plane. We're all playing. That's just that's what it is. I somewhat agree with Nick nurse by saying that this is a platform, the people outside the bubble. They can still stay in the bubble and get the message across much like the browns talked about is US outside the bubble that have to continue to push into our athletes come outside the bubble to join forces with us to continue to push it doesn't mean because. You in the bubble that you also isolate yourself from the rest of the world, they're still active in. There's people out there. That are still active. We gotta keep doing what we're doing on nist platform that we're on right now the we gotta keep sending a message in now be afraid of people talking smack to us on social media about stick to sports doc rivers. At all listen to his comments at the top of the L.. O. J. Will..

Wanted to nine as already. Keyshawn Johnson was the best receiver ever played against him. Stop. On a serious note I saying say. I. Want you to elaborate on your feelings about what took place in Wisconsin with Jacob Blake, because I. Haven't I know you probably have I just haven't zero and I want to know. On it I haven't yet. I think it's. As I'll be on, get up later talking about it but I think it's a really tough. Situation to to the saddest thing is not surprised. You know like it's not news it's not new to people like us and it's upsetting and frustrating I'm encouraged more than anything because it seems like the the tenor of the country, the perception of the country exchange. Point where people are looking for reasons to blame blake and seems like by and large most people understand that no matter what happens in any situation this is any particular situation. This happens far too often and dissect in particular of any particular situation to me seems like a waste of time when we understand that what's going on and what has gone on something that. Is, terrifying and it's scary in our country will never be the country that it expects to be until it addresses the many not just the police brutality and and. Police violence issue but the many issues that. Are Barriers frankly for black people in this country. So like I will never be the country that we say we want to be until we addressed that peculiar or that the problems that stem from the peculiar institution of slavery. So that's I feel like it's a really broad. Way To answer that question but that's how I feel when I see stuff like that. It's just it's The same stuff that we all know has existed for a while, not all of us but many of us knows existed for awhile and some of us are highly coming to understand is a real problem meek. You have so much insight on how these labor negotiations pan out seeing the lines canceled practice the other day. If you were to give advice to athletes about the one way, they could create change if that's the legislation. Wise. What advice would you give them on how to do that? I think the first move is to get informed and also understand that not everyone has to be a spokesperson, not everyone's bill for that and not everyone. Is She didn't have to be their responsibility I think I would say the same thing that I'm saying to athletes to anybody in country who wants to impact this is that there microaggressions that set us back and there can be a small actions that push us forward. So what are you in any aspect of life where you have impact you should be able to. You should be willing to push in that way and be conscious of everything. You say everything you do a knows a lot of pressure to be aware of all the time we're not all going to be perfect but be conscious that every little decision you make has some little impact on somebody else, and that's how our society is built and that's what forms the institutions. In the rules that we live under. So being aware of all that and and being conscious that your actions matter and if you have the conviction in the bravery, frankly to step up and take some more radical action, don't be afraid like we see the cycle works the same way every time it feels like when someone is ridiculed for stepping out eventually the world. Comes around and understands that that person was right and that cycle is so much faster. Now than it was back in the day of say Muhammad Ali you see capper Nick Exchange Kapernick is you by most I think now as an American hero when at the time he was dude as somebody who was doing the wrong thing so that their bravery should extend to everybody. No matter where you are and our society I get frustrated honestly happens to me sometimes to where I find myself pointing at CEO's or coaches or someone else who is in a leader leadership position and tell them that they need to fix it and I think the the real truth is that we need to make them, fix it and I think. To bring us full circle back to Fred van. Vanfleet I think that's what he's. He's pointing to is like look you guys aren't GonNa fix it. So we're GONNA, make you so uncomfortable as uncomfortable as the rest of us are until you address the issues that we are seeing persistent our society now the fun part House.

"Now I want to mention this Jay because this is something no, you're very hot on the reason I say this has been going on in the League for a while you might remember and I know you guys both loved the Commissioner Adam Silver and I do too just because he's really he's Cathartic he says things, right so this is what he told everybody be last I would say last March quote this is silver. On his own players way prepay data says after the Kyrie, Irving comments in commerce is it the Mit Sloan sports analytics conference where all the stat heads get together quote from Silver March two, thousand, nineteen when I meet with them is the players when I meet with them what surprises me is that there truly unhappy a lot of these young men they are generally unhappy I think it's less calculated and a lot of people think he said the reality is that most don't WanNa play together. There's enormous. Amongst our players he went on to say if you're around a team in this day and age, there are always headphones on silver said, the players are isolated and they had their heads down obviously Georgia saying he was a little claustrophobic a little lost in the moment of the bubble you can't really see your family but Adam, silver's saying Jay and you know this is something that's been going on for a while. Yeah. I don't really think that that quote is applicable to Paul George in this situation though I I get without him was talking about then I still think that is relevant to a degree but I think this one's a little bit different. And look for all fans out there key there are going to say hail, your job is just the way basketball and what I would say to combat that is if I have a hard day at work if you're out there, you're working really hard day you work from seven o'clock in the morning until five o'clock at night. So you have a bad day we walk in the door. Of Your home my wife has checked me multiple times about whatever happened at work leave at the doorstep when I see my daughter when she runs out to me when you see your kids and naturally forces you to be present with them. Right you know you. You may take a little bit of your bad day into into your home for a second, but that's can other we'll slap. You will knock you out of your way and get you out of your own funk. Right that recalibrate you think about the game you see your kid or you see your family member, you see your friends who was the worse right word. You need somebody to help you recalibrate you. So I feel what Paul George is saying think about how that Echo Chamber is expanded when you don't. Have people to recalibrate you. You can't walk into home. You can't see your friends you can't get out of your way. Now you're on your phone now people asking your boys, how community the wall what do you think it is you're consumed by you can't get out of it and I think that's challenging when you're in a bubble I think that's what Paul doors was referring you know. The interesting thing is he figured out a way to get out of it in go twelve eighteen. Fifty percent from the deep three, thirty, five points as you mentioned, impair with Kawais thirty two, and if that's the situation for the clippers, they're gonNA be a tough team down the stretch. There's no question about it. They are going to be a tough team It's always like you mentioned bad games bad. This I when I was saying easy. When I play it was. A whether you like if we lost the game. Or I had a gay difficult game I was the worst to be around for the next twenty four hours. It was just what would you do when you like after bad game? Would you go home? Would you buy yourself? No typically like you know how excited? I had a lot of friends family that would come to all my games with I travelled or whatever the case may be in if I'm if I'm at home. I would just like. You know normally we would go to eat after the game, but if didn't go right. To me. It wasn't even no need to go dimiar gone. Do Child need to do if you WANNA hit China Club or whatever the case may be. Cheetahs or whatever y'all go do that on your own catch up Charlie later on I'm not in then when I get home I, might just. Myself completely from everybody. In not talk to him and just kind you know an up like I'm not sleeping. I'm back at the FI I'm watching the film in my room trying to figure out it just was one of those situations where mentally it became so much consumed. Oh assume and it's a lot because there's so much pressure on you as a star player to deliver and you.

As one baserunners just one walk the white sox had nineteen no hitters key only your dodgers have more than what we're supposed to do. But I can imagine throw a no hitter in your down to the last couple of strike outs and you just the pressure that is on you to get that no hitter no question about it. For both of them, considering what they've gone through over the last couple of years, people kind of discounting them not thinking they were going to pan out no question about it. Now, this is the biggest sports story in the World Jay maybe not here domestically but. Lino messy and bar. So perhaps splitting after nearly two decades Lino Messy says he wants to go. He hasn't had a ton of success in the last couple of years by his standards in the world is buzzing about it. There's one easy way to do it and the Nuggets Fan Base is love and Jamal Murray Keyhole thirty three. In the second half, the nuggets stay alive they've never rallied from a three one deficit in any playoff series they were down three one to the jazz. Let's make it three two man. He's cooking man I was a three sixty lay in look every bit of forty. He was terrific. How about them wildcats is what they're saying in Lexington. He was incredible there and he's making some incredible moves in the bubble for the nuggets. He was incredible Kentucky. He was good at Kentucky. He wasn't like He. We saw him last night college hoops those different though right or no agreed. Systems and they don't really count them. Don't really let you eat like that. Yeah. But we saw John Wall Kentucky like, Oh, he's incredible. Jomo. Murray was good. But last night he looked like a G. Four he didn't look like a Hawker. "What was the better player in this game? I'll give you three to pick from. Yokich is crazy three at the end of the first quarter. Mitchell's dunk on Michael Porter Jr. which was huge. Or Murray's three sixty layup around go barely which one you go with what you got. It's down to the three sixty or the shot for me because your kids just off the wrong foot like that. Coming down at the end of the quarter I think he was five for five from five for five in the Gordon hit that six Mars was spectacular. But I'M GONNA. Go I'm GonNa go yoke just. Unexpected I guess. The way that he just he comes down and it's like confused which forty supposed to jump off but he just let it fly. So high in the air and he was complaining that he didn't get a foul call on his he wanted the four point place. I'll take. Yokich. Okay. I'm going Murray come on I. Mean Oh against. Two you can stay home early wine like trae said it. That's the smoothest play. We've seen all the entire bubble that was unbelievable. And how he finished Tool Jelly Guy He's a fun. He is really fun when he's locked in and he has been locked in for a good chunk of the series. Kenny do it for game six, and then possibly a game seven, I mean Jeez I. Know. You're. From him but he would just straight up like two minutes ago he just ice owed on. Donovan Mitchell like this is why the series hilariously funny it's like all right. Here we go. It's like feels like Like Rucker Park or something like Venice. Beach. We need somebody on the mic drop in the old thing. Because that's what it feels like. All right. Here we go. Let's see if you can break them down the ice on Mitchell he stopped on a dime with like that behind the back dribble, hit the jumper, and then not long after like a minute and a half to go royces autumn Roy so neil now and he got to the exact same spot after a nice little lake crossover drive that him created enough room just to get that jumper that little step back jumper to go, and then he did set up your kitchen the corning corner really late Yokich did score in the second half of it was just like in the final and whatever thirty seconds but he knocking down. Yeah, superfund I'm doubtful. He can do it again like you said Lee for another game and then maybe another game on that he's going to have to well I wouldn't be surprised if he does it, it's just whether or not invoke insurance themselves defensively get any sort of contribution from anybody else because Marty's a bull that I wanted to ask you guys is let's let's. Let's make one of these stupid questions do if you had to pick one guy who you building your franchise around tomorrow Mario Donovan, Mitchell for what you got. Who? Jaw Mitchell. Even go far and I am smart gigantic joe-marie fan as I've said, many times he's the least Canadian Canadian of all time and I'm here poor because he's unapologetic he's an American and I love it. But I go. Donovan. Mitchell still to. Mitch I think Mitchell today still his complete body of work is still better than marriage but. Mary can sort of keep this up for season I. Think it's it's. Mitchell how old is he I know? Three and a lot of days he's almost twenty four. So they're pretty close in age I guess Yeah Yeah. You can't go wrong with either. They're fun to watch and you're right I. thought it was over the series was over I mean as great as Yokich was early the jazz. All series long dominated the third quarter and they had elite at the half and then they built it up at the start of Alec. Well, that's a wrap I. Mean it's a fifteen point game. The nuggets are GonNa like we're done this place. Let's just go home and then yeah, they finally got a few stops going and then Jamal caught fire and the actually won the third quarter and they kept the jazz to a very respectable like twenty three points. And then there was suddenly back in this game. But yeah, I thought for sure they were done. I don't know about you guys watching this one is like all right. Well, this series is over let's start looking ahead to who they're GONNA play the Utah Jazz but it's still potentially a series. I mean you wonder is the pressure on the jazz now to win game six even though there's no homecourt advantage and stuff like that. Are you saying it's a must win game for the Jazz I don't know it kind of feels like. It might be but it's so silly because again there's no homecourt you're not going to back to play in the the altitude there for a game seven. So I, don't know I guess I sort of feels that way to me and yeah, could happen I don't know. Well, the thing is that neither of these teams is super consistent right? That's been the shock is that the jazz looked pretty consistent through the first four games and the first three quarters of this one they just didn't do it in the fourth quarter of game five. It's also very strange to be watching this game at like seven o'clock because both of these teams are in mountain time. So you're thinking, wow, this is a this is an early game for them wait? No, no, no no they're just an Orlando playing basketball like they have been for the past couple of months. Is it a must win in game six? Yeah. You don't WanNa go to a game seven Jamal Murray's got a game win under his belt who? More experience in the game seven six, they had two of them last year not wrong Jordan Clarkson to for the jazz played really well in the first half and then couldn't have shot in the second half that was a big part of this game too because he was rolling in the first quarter first-half excuse me and then he's been good all of this series of incredible off the bench but. Is Jordan. Clarkson I think like. You're asking a lot if you need them to try and score you twenty five every game, he's going to have his moments, but he went ice cold. He was just missing some shots and he's going to shoot them. That's boy Clarkson and keep shoot them. But Luckily, for the nuggets he he missed anything else to add to this one. I just want to see how Denver comes out in the first half of game number six because they saved their season with their backs against the wall when they came out of the locker room, not in the first but in the second half that's. That's what happened. They really just save their ass when it was absolutely against the wall, they've got to do it for a full game and and so I'm not really inspired by them coming out when they see only twenty four minutes on the clock or we're going home..

"I'm Scott enough. We haven't even talked to get a chance to see that it seemed to me and keep in mind I know Marcus Morris I had Marcus Morris when I was younger Phoenix Suns and there's a reason we traded Marcus Morris Scalp seemed to me like he went out of his way to to get an extended step and step on Luca Danni his injured ankle. Watch the video. Don't take my word for Washington video and it speaks for itself scout but I just thought that was really be s I know again I know Marcus Morris, the player I know the person I know the way he moves that is not as natural movement or momentum and I don't think it's a coincidence gallery took a long stride nothing else going on land on Look Don as injured angle and personally I don't think there's any place for that in our game. Yeah, I. Hope Not I hope not because. That's not what you WanNa see in the NBA is cracked down on that big time about citing underneath with flagrant in two in the ball and all that other stuff but especially with the guy already her. Amendment may maybe I'm wrong? Maybe it was a coincidence, an accident look on twitter Emmanuel. Acho asked the former NFL player tweeted out check out the video and draw your own conclusions but I just thought that was complete bs on. Scalia back to the Games. Now let's get back to the three games in the NBA on Wednesday as always will read them in the order in which they will be played. Oscar which game or game stand out to you on the early game on Wednesday in the NBA is a closeout game that is the Milwaukee Bucks were leading the Dallas Mavericks Three. Won that game is at four PM eastern with Milwaukee having a chance to advance and move on to the second round. If they do that, they will face the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference semifinals are the next game. Style this is the one that I have circled I. Think you do as well at six thirty PM eastern on TNT we have the okay see thunder and the Houston Rockets a pivotal game five in that series, which is tied at two and then scaled up the final game We have some negative news to report on this one that is between the Portland Trailblazers in the La Lakers the Lakers. Lead the series three, one scout. So they have a chance to close out on Wednesday night and I think that's looking very likely right now with the news that came out on Tuesday, the Portland Trailblazers, Star Guard Damian Lillard is not going to play on Wednesday night. Yeah. So I mean, really this becomes this one game thing we could see Orlando can put up somewhat of a fight against Milwaukee but. I'm assuming all is going to be on o'casey Houston but by Portland is so decimated by injuries and with no Lillard, they got no chance but. I'm sure those guys remember this run like this even the run to get in the game against Brooklyn. The last shot, all that stuff Damian Lillard in I i. think they'll remember the run and maybe member remember game one. Lakers too good and without Damian Lillard. There their top three lottery team when you think about when you watch thirteen play. So to me all eyes on o'casey Houston and I I, I can't wait to see it can wait to wash my favorite defensive player in the League Luder played. How come though up in arms about him not getting any defensive player of the year votes while scale I put that on my twitter I. Don't know if you saw it Hassan whiteside got one second place vote for defensive player of the year scale before we run for the night was that you did you vote for whiteside seconds that was me. Because I just troll people. That's what I do. That guy whoever. I can't say the guy might be a gal that guy that Gal needs to get their voting privileges away. How how is that possible? Wherever voted for Andre Drummond one. Hassan. Whiteside to if that is the same person in particular. Ah, not only should they have the vote remove? They should have their credential revokes they shouldn't be allowed into an NBA. Anytime soon, because clearly they have no idea what they're looking at scale. Any final thoughts I agree with completely with what you said, there are three games on Wednesday, but there's one that stands out. That's between o'casey in Houston at one final piece of News Gal that I want to get your reaction to because it does impact that game you and I talked on our live show about Russell Westbrook and whether he would be available in game five up. Now we know that the rockets have ruled them out for Wednesday's game five. Against the o'casey under yeah and I actually think that that's probably a good thing for Houston in this game because I think it's hard on the fly and this is a is a really important game few sick win this game that can bring him back have a little bit of house money. So I'm I think it's good for Houston in this situation, but we'll see I'm impressed. I'm impressed with the way that okays plan I can't wait to watch him again and and see what they can what levels can go to. That is clearly the game of the day on Wednesday. I join us at noon, Eastern and Pacific on Wednesday Scallon. I will break down that game. I will also. Get more more detail about the Games on Tuesday night. Do we have an update on? porzingus. IS HE GONNA play in game six? How healthy is Luca does Marcus Morris, get suspended for what he did to. Luca tonight, we'll get into all of that on.

"We saw the conclusion. Of one game in the N B. A The Denver Nuggets stand alive against the Utah Jazz won 17 a 107 there. Now down 32. They avoided elimination, Jamal Murray went off. 33 points in the second half plate every minute of the second half to stave off elimination. Finished with 42. Nikolay Yokich. "Gal's everyone I am Ryan mcdonagh and will be joined as always by the White Mama Brian scale rainy a we are on twitter our show is that Scallon palce he is at scallop rainy I M Mukti NBA, I'm Scallon. Tuesday in the NBA we had two games both in the western conference, a one series got tighter with a team who was down three one getting much needed victory to keep that series alive. The other one scout team dominated took a commanding a three two lead in that series. So scandalous talk about both games starting with the Denver Nuggets who beat the Utah Jazz by ten a will. GET INTO THE LA clippers blowout win over the Dallas Mavericks here in a minute scalp on but starting in Orlando with the Denver Nuggets in Utah Jazz, it seemed like coming into this game with the way the series had gone the jazz had all the momentum scall- Denver Stole Game One after the jazz a four point lead late in regulation Denver overtime. But since then scale, it's all jazz it had been all Donovan Mitchell, but the Denver Nuggets led by Jamal Murray certainly flipped the script, and now we have a three two series with the nuggets winning by ten on Tuesday night. Yeah. Few things happen in the series first of all. I'm sorry Yokich comes out on fire he's. For Eight, five, five from three. So He's obviously in talk on this show and every show is Yoga's needs to be more aggressive is if it's just him Jamal Murray and there's guy out needs to be aggressive Murray's the kind of guy when he gets going, he has like destroy a playing basketball and you can make shots inside outside drive. He's got good size. So he was fun to watch and I think the one underrated adjustment Jeremy Grant on Donovan Mitchell against isolation thought he did a really good job and I don't know if Mitchell was attacking as much late in the game in that fourth quarter so I'll have to see moving forward and. I think it comes down to this. Denver has to have guys that can defend I. Know they're playing Michael Porter but I don't understand why he's out there unless he literally have nobody else I'm by the way not a huge fan of PJ. Dover. Dosier but I like them I I liked him when he was in Boston I thought he had a good feeling it I thought he played extremely hard shout out to Mike Malone for for putting them out there which once again you're these guys are short handed. You know unique contributions from a lot more than just murray and Yokich, but good Denver to get to sing done. Big Win by the Denver Nuggets that would not have been a good way for them to end the season they lost on Tuesday night that would have been foreign row for Utah. But over reversed the trend in that series winning by ten a Scala's talk some more about Jamal Murray because it's the second game in a row now after having fifty over the weekend. Schedule he had forty two on Tuesday night. He was the best player in the game of his forty two points scale thirty three for Jamal Mari came in the second half and what really impresses me when I watched this young guy play is just the creativity has with a shotmaking because we saw the whole arsenal on Tuesday nights Gal, he was making spinning layups he was. One of the big shots in the game was he cut the ball scale the shot clock was winding down in order to gain spacey dribbled away from the basket WHO's trying to score basically passed the free throw line and kind of an all in one motion turn and spun, and through a a big shock for Denver also a scalp for the second game in a row I was really impressed with the creativity and the scoring ability of Jomar. Yeah and when you'll get us making shot, it will open up the floor for him so. I'm sure that UTAH. Will come up with some type of adjustment but I don't know when he's got going like that. He's like he's really hard to stop taking shots at you as a team I. Think he would say all right like we're okay with him taking some of these shots but he he really had to go in and i. do think that Yokich I and this is what I thought during a game. When you came out on fire in Utah sort of started pulling away I was surprised that they weren't able to close that game out and if it wasn't for Jamal Murray's ROIC THEY UTAH. What a win away with this one in saw give him credit and it wasn't wasn't just support like you said, it was in the second half he brought him back in and sometimes when. You can you bring a team back? It's hard to get over that home not only that he brought him back. He didn't set out in the second half. He just went all the way through and you make tough shot after shot. So I'm curious a residual effect of those guys playing all those minutes moving forward, but it does seem like a denver sort of figure something out. A great comeback by the nuggets on Tuesday night Denver trail by as many as fifteen points in the third quarter. Then late in the game was tied at one one, Jamal Maury went on a nine zero run himself to give Denver some separation they hung on to win. So now they're down three to scout in that series. It's still very much a series one of the things. I had my eye on prior to the game. In fact, thought the Denver Nuggets were in trouble when Gary Harris, which scratched and not able to play scale. He was listed as doubtful. It seems like he is getting closer to returning on what the longer the nuggets can keep this series going the more. They can prolong the series that gives them a chance to get Harris back in. The lineup scale Natalie in this series. But if they are able to advance past the Utah Jazz into the second round, the likely to play the LA clippers, then they're gonna Gary Harris at some point style and it looks like he's close with again without him on Tuesday I was really impressed with how the nuggets stepped up because I think the easy to do scour would be to. Let go of the rope down three one down fifteen points. In the second half you're looking at potentially your season being over in Denver led by Jomo. Murray really changed the course of this game and save their season on Tuesday night..

Mitchell scores 51 points, Jazz beat Nuggets for 3-1 lead

"K is here from his home studio talking about sports. And what a difference a week makes last week cash. We're all fired up about the Rockies, abs and nuggets now, after that weekend, not so much Yeah, the Nuggets now find themselves in an almost insurmountable hole. After last night's 1 29 1 27 lost to Utah in their opening round playoff. Siri's inside the NBA's bubble Jazz All Star guard down when Mitchell led all scores of 51, but he's matched by Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, who had 50 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists and loss. What should we make of all these NBA referee complaints?

Joe Giglio

What should we make of all these NBA referee complaints?

"What did you make of the whole? We got filed. We won the NBA championship last year. The the rockets complaints that they the officials of not treated them fairly. Everybody feels at some point that the reps start treating them fairly. And it's not really a question about fairness referees are not there to try to enforce there to try to enforce the rules. To do it as accurately and even handedly as humanly possible in a game in which the speed at lettuce schism of the participants makes it very very difficult in real time and fifty times more difficult in the aftermath because we watch it all and HD, and we are sit and scrutinize, and you know, blow it up to the last little pixel, and it's just it, you know, it's a tough job for the rest, regardless. It has made topper by how much one players are definitely trying to trick the refs bait them that happens and to how much they are. Then, you know, second guests in the aftermath. So in the case of warriors rockets, my basic point is this. I think there were some this calls against harden. I think that the league in their last minute report was correct in that the Draymond green call that they were most upset over at least at the end because it affected the last couple of second. The last minute of the game. They was a correct non call. And then James harden is doing things on his jump shot to make it, you know, it's a to draw contacts, and that's making it tough on the rest of call it accurately. Our back. You're on the show breaking it down. Howard, denver. I mean Yokich is been you know, there's all the superlatives awesome. And Denver wins that series. How do you expect that Denver Portland series to play out how competitive series, you think it's going to be it could go the distance very easily several of these semi final series? Actually, if you go the distance. In fact, I think there's a chance for all four of them. I it's a really good second round Portland wasn't supposed to be here necessarily after losing late in the season. Yes, they were higher seed, but a lot of people saw. In fact, I think like ESPN's pundits like nineteen out of twenty or something had the under upsetting the blazers and Denver, you know, look at the second. Yes. Of course, they're supposed to to advance. But a lot of people thought again, the Spurs, obviously, the more seasons team and veteran team and the nuggets had no experience whatsoever. Coming into this postseason. So they're both here is is cool. And it's refreshing. And it's interesting, and they're they're both just trying to kind of, you know, figure out you know, how how far they can push. It. Just fantastic. He's been great in the postseason a little bit less consistency from Jamal Murray minutes. Young cast Portland actually has the advantage in terms of experience because Lillard McCollum and a lot of their role guys are guys who have been in a bunch of postseason battles. And so, you know, I absolute think especially on you know, you get Dame hot one night. They they can they can win a game Denver. They can they can make this a series

"He is so tough to guard in, especially being able to run the one five pick and roll with joke. She's gonna get switches. Jamal Murray is gonna end up with big, slow guys on him and is going to be able to punish them and either score or break down the defensive scoring opportunities. I team. So I think it's about being more intentional and coming down the floor with a plan every single time to me the almost like an Uteem where whoever brings the ball up as the point guard on that possession, you know, just it's just sort of natural. You know a little bit casual about how they come on the floor, get into their offense to be more intentional and doesn't always have to Jamal Murray. But if you're evaluating shrip- the say, hey, what's? What's the best approach here? I think you're gonna find quite a lot. It's going to be working through Jim. Yeah. So let's if you're asking Glen, how will we know if this is happening or not happening, it'll be much easier. See what it's not happening that was happening. For example, if we'll Barton is allowed to dribble off of half-court possession with the will normal tunnel vision. We, you know, it's not happening well Barton. She'll be buying into really being secondary player much in the way that Gary Harris buys into. Okay, some games, the ball is going to find it way. It'd be a lot because my teammates are so good at forcing defensive attention to them, and I was just going to wait for the ball, come find me. Barton's guides wants to dribble the ball. I really don't understand the fighters investment there. 'obedient that horse. I know going back there, but if I Thomas is wild to kind of come in and just have all the for all the possessions these on for whatever minutes plays. You know, you're not really seeing that. If he's playing with Murray, move this single human being and just think about the average that role should be really deferring to Murray. So we'll we'll see for me while card is will in the starting lineup, is he gonna be allowed to just do it every once when the ball fines, his hands because he tends to really have one thing in mind that's tacking trying to get his shot. Last question real quick. If this teams under five hundred by December thirty. First, it's Mike Malone. So coach his team bane, I gotta think he's like a lot of these coaches that are kind of on the fringe of of the playoffs and in the west, which is hard to do. If you're not eating to be exceeding expectations, I think for all of them, I think about Terry Stotts tiptoe, Alvin gentry, those guys. I mean, you need to really exceed expectations. So yeah, there. Under five hundred. I don't know..
