"Games, that would shatter the record for most carries in a season. Like that would beat that record by I believe 30, because I think it's four ten from Jamal Anderson in 98. Shatter that record. He got 258 Kerry so far this year. They are just like taupe that thang dog, you are what we got. Yeah, that is going to cost him physically, and I know he looks big and strong, so did Cam Newton. His add up, like maybe the opponent hurts a little more, but the thing is, there's new opponents every week. In every year, they file them out there and they keep taking shots all over. We'll see, that's the problem with the contract do we give Derek? Because you will find out that there is a problem. Too late. Yeah. No matter what, right? Nobody has ever really gotten out of head of the running back thing where they're like, okay, I'm gonna let you go and then they retire. You're going to find out too late by and large, because when it happens, it happens. Yeah. There's no warning. You just off the cliff. Yeah. I was just looking at his career earnings and it's going to be less than a $100 million by quite a bit. Which is around, I guess, around 50 something. I think. That dude will go all pros versus joes, so Kirk Cousins can play running back and he can play linebacker. You know what I'm saying? The running back, you know, you know your brethren, your football playing, Brad, and y'all be hating on basketball players, religiously. Y'all know that, right? Yeah, we do, but we're wrong.

"Two more assistants on Monday, you've traded away ostensibly your best player in Christian McCaffrey. You trade away Robbie Anderson. You've got trade rumors swirling around guys like Brian burns all the way up until the trade deadline. Sam darnold just got activated off IR hasn't played yet. Baker Mayfield was dealing with a high ankle sprain and he was out. PJ walker coming off a 0.0 passer rating, 5 days ago. And came out, I believe a full on blue tar ski. And played well enough for them to win. And if you watch that game and just going back again through the highlights this morning, every time the Panthers are making to play, it's an effort play. It's them breaking a tackle. It's dragging the defender. It's pushing the pile. And those are the sorts of things that if you're going to have a team give up when they see the season is not going to go our way, you wouldn't have that. You saw effort from the Panthers. And on the flip side, you had a falcons team that I wouldn't say it's a lack of effort, but it was ugly at times. Arthur Smith said after the game did not think about benching Marcus Mariota turning things over to Desmond Ritter, The Rookie third round draft pick out of Cincinnati. I imagine that somewhere Jim irsay might have some thoughts. On this. You know, I think what I would like to see here, really, have you guys considered? Benching your quarterback, the veteran for The Rookie who hasn't played. And then fire in the offense of coordinator, firing the head coach. Is Tony Gonzalez available. He's really the only man for the job. Maybe? Steve bartkowski. Keith brooking? How many more you got in there? Did you see toggle? Jamal Anderson. Jamal Anderson. We're bringing back the dirty birds. Chris Chandler. First team meeting. All right, guys. I don't have a plan for the offense. I don't know what we're going to be on Sunday. But we're all going to do the dirty bird together. It's going to be a dirty bird. Eugene's the right one. In front of the room right now. Great life lessons. Of the plate. I'm sure some of Matthews and Jake Matthews running in and flip flops. That was just unbelievable. After his wife had the baby, we talked about that on the show yesterday. An hour before game time. Flies to Charlotte. Life goes into labor flies back to Atlanta, she delivers tweets about it, tweets, hey, I did my part. And then Jake Matthews comes running into hours before the game. If you knew and maybe he just is thinking, I just need to like everybody else when their wife goes into labor, I just need to put something on. But if you're thinking this might be a sprint, maybe not the flip flops. Probably not. Not the best. I mean, I've run through plenty of concourses and stadiums. You had to have. I wouldn't want to be barefoot there just in general. You look like a sensible shoe type guy. Also, just a very sensible shoe. That's not an airplane. Never a good idea. No, I don't want to see feet on an airplane. Exactly. Whether it's flip flops, whether it's the guy who before takeoff is already removed, the socks and the shoes, and then decides to put one leg up like this, and then you're just looking at the sole of the feet, and it's black. Edward your window seat in that foot just comes through that little thing right there. There are so many, you know, you ever get the upgrade to the middle seat on the airplane. That's a great if there's three zones. And sometimes it can be, hey, we upgrade you to the second one. Now you're in the middle. And if you're between two shoeless people, that is I believe one of the rings of hell. One of the things. Tom reveals the other rings as well. And the other last thing which I have out of that game last night, Baker Mayfield was at a ring of hell having to watch the game last night. I made it. I survived. It wasn't that we've seen worse. We've seen the words. We've seen worse. It was competitive. I was playing against Drake London, so that was a bummer that he scored. By the way, I had Cordero passion and young Ho. And I had three ways. That was a joke. I'm sorry. You know, you have these names with your friends and then you just go, hey, it's two extra points. 3.5 fantasy points. Between the two of them. Between the two of them. Yikes. It's not the best. I'm the loser suite. That's what I'm saying. It's early. Never, never overreact to the Thursday game, maybe when you see those percentages swing. We had this talk yesterday, you're right. The other lasting image was Baker Mayfield after the game. Headbutting, his teammates with a hat on. And the Lyman had helmets on and he's hitting them like 5 or 6 of them. It wasn't like one in the moment when down the line. And they all had interesting reactions. Like one of them went with it, one was like, what are you doing? One guy was like, he never even got touched by human being. One dude was like, oh, it was crazy. I was going to say there's a joke in there about the Panthers offensive line, but they've actually played pretty well. Through the course of this season. But I do like it. You know why? Even though Al Michaels was very concerned that Baker Mayfield was going to put himself in concussion protocol. I like it because how often have we heard things about Baker Mayfield. And there's a narrative that he's going to be the moody guy and he's going to be high and low. And if it's not going, he's great when things are going well, but he's going to tank out when things are going bad. He's a backup right now. He's excited. Behind us. This clip is bananas. Yes. You literally postgame going down the line, just head putting dudes and helmets. I mean, to me, again, he's wearing a hat. I would not advise if there's any children who for some reason are at school and are watching the show. I would not advise you to headbutt anyone. Much less if there were in a helmet and you were in a sideline cap. But I would say there's a leadership element of it. If anybody's watching and baker surely knows his next team wherever that is, is watching what's happening here, show who you are. Show you're not that guy. Things aren't going well. You want to play, we know that. Don't pout, but be part of it. Be supportive for PJ walker. Everything he's said publicly has been very supportive. I personally like it, though again, don't crack your skull open. Tulane, head coach, Willie Fritz coming up, joining us right after this here on the rich isen list show with Tom pilaster. Looking forward to tight of Willie next. 2002 1008, 2022, when it comes to the economy, those are some scary years dot com crash, housing crash

"I think that's why Marvin played it. He knows that you hate it. Yeah, you're in a great mood when you hear this, right? How can you not be? Yeah. Now, I still love, I just want to bang on the drums all day. By Todd Rundgren. Todd rundgren's related hello it's me. Todd Rundgren's in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a producer. But I don't even know. Is that the title of the song? I just want to bang on the drums all day. I don't even know the title of it. I'd be bang on the drum. Bang on the drum? Yeah, bang on the drum all day, Todd Reddit. But don't people get they make the mistake with Baba o'riley where teenage wasteland wasteland. I love when they play teenage lateline. That's a great song. Do you have, do you have the I just want to bang on the drum all day there, Marvin? I thought that'd be the cue for you. Yeah, thank you. Now you are. I would rather not work. What about greatest acting one hit wonders? I got one. Crocodile Dundee Paul Hogan. Okay. I don't know his second best movie that's not crocodile Dundee two or three. Was he in other stuff I don't know. Okay. I'm gonna guess no. Yeah, so how about Mark Hamill? Star Wars. He never really did anything after that, did he? No. That's a pretty good one. About Gilligan from Gilligan's island? Strong. Okay. Yes, Todd, you got one? Some of those Star Trek characters. Here we go. Wait, hold on, here we go. Here we go. I heard it. I don't know what the instrument is. But I'm having a damn good time. Is this an organ? Are you just happy to see me? Todd Rundgren, Friday at 5. Here we go. Yeah. Come on. Who's not having a good time? All right. Other one hit wonders. I did see a list that had Joe Namath on there as a one hit wonder, which I think that's stretching. Is Tim Tebow? One hit wonder. Too long of a hit. His hit was too long. It was four years. Plus the NFL, he had like a 6 year window relevance. Okay. Let's see. I'm up for an actor. Edward Furlong. Terminator two? I'm not familiar with his other work. How about icky wood? Icky shuffle? This is a funny one. A guy named Alex Winter. He was the other guy in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Okay. Okay. He's dunkleman to Seacrest. Too soon. He had it. He had it. I know. I know. But does that work Seacrest just said, I'll take it from here. Or did dunkleman say, you know what? I don't think we're going anywhere. This isn't part of my art, my journey, my craft. My million. Leon Spinks. Lance spinks, one hit wonder? Mark fidge marked the bird fidget with the tigers? He was great for it felt like two year rookie of the year, mid 70s, David Tyree buster Douglas, anybody else that we're missing. I have an actor. Remember the actor young kid who played the journalist in almost famous? Yeah. He was really good in that movie, I thought. Yeah. Everyone loves a movie, Cameron Crowe. Yeah. I don't know what he's done since. I'm sure he's been in some movies, but he really nailed that role. And how about the Jesse Eisenberg? He's been in a few things. But social network is, there is no second on his list as far as what he's known for. Yeah. Well, that's where the one is so big that no matter what you do, you're not going to read. Like Haley Joel Osment. You know, he might have been in other things, but he'll never taught that. We might be underappreciated zombieland one and two. With Jesse has. Oh, okay. I would never. Yes, Marv. What about Jamal Anderson that 98 falcons team? He was on fire for that one year. The dirty bird? Yep. And it's always a dance. Like Iggy Woods had icky shuffle. Yeah. Icky shuffle. And then icky, after his career was over, would deliver meat to your door in Cincinnati? I think he went door to door and he would do the icky shuffle. I think. I'd sign up for that. Yeah, so like a club like a meat club. Yeah. Don't deliver your meat. And he would do the icky shuffle. Yes, Don. He's in some commercial, I don't know if it's for insurance or whatever, but they call number 60 two. He said, that's me. 62 would pick up the meat. The inky shuffle in the supermarket's pretty funny. It was a big deal. Yeah, see. I didn't realize this, but Mark Hamill has quite a fan base. Uh oh. Actually, he's quite an accomplished voice actor. I hope you know. We're not making fun of our camera. He's one of the biggest franchises movies. He's one of the best characters of all time. Too late scene. It's like I said something about Taylor swift. If you say something about her, then I'm mad at you. Yes. I wonder who's had the biggest hits so far away. Look at Henry Winkler was a font. It's one of the most famous actors in America in the 70s, but now he's on Barry and he's getting like, it's like his book ending his career with a really good role. Barry is so good I started watching season one again. And I said to Bill Hader, because I texted him, I said, hey, just getting in character. I rewatching season one of Barry. And he said, I promise I'm going to get you in season four. I said, okay. I don't know what role, but bearing. I hope she's in four gets picked up. That's going to be awkward if I'm like, hey. How are we doing? We didn't get picked up. Let's see. Alberto in Chicago. Alberto? Hey, how you doing? Good. Now that you're just talking about berries, I've got two berries for you from the early 90s running backs Barry word. Oh. Yeah. Barry foster. Baylor's in the chiefs. How about Christian oye? The Nigerian nightmare. Azusa Pacific. That early 90s. Oh yeah. I love me some Christian okoye. That early 90s Kansas City Chiefs with Barry word to your mother and Christian okoye. Word up. Yeah, that was a fun short run. Yeah. Let's see. Keith and Portland, hi Keith, what's on your mind today? Hey, just some of those funny names. Yeah. 25 years ago, we had this guy in our HR department. And we won a prize off of radio station, his actual name was dick puffer. Dick puffer, okay? I'd go by Ricky puffer. It's like a pothead. You a pothead puffer? I think I'd go with my middle name. I think. Unless he's got, I don't know what would be worse than dick puffer. Let's see what else do we have. David in Virginia. Hi David, what's on your mind today? Hey, good morning, Dan. Good morning. Tell us. Yeah. True story, so teacher way back in the day by the time I got her, she was soon her 60s. And the way she liked to pronounce it was miss rockson box. But of course everyone else and Virginia with the accent. It was rotten box. Well, there you go. All right. Thank you, David.

"And she asked what the flag was for. I told her it was roughing the kicker and she goes the kickers not a lot to be touched. And I'm like, no, she goes, oh, I would have allowed you to kick. That's what she said to me. That's what she said. Sounds like happy Gilmore. Yeah, one of Sadler's great movies. Yeah, it sounds like water balloons. Sounds like waterboy. Pretty much, yeah. But I was just, I was more the newspaper boy. That's what I was. I got into the writing aspect of things. Goldberg here on the rich eyes of the show. You mentioned moments ago about Kevin green. He was your roommate? That's who you ruined with the rams? One of my short stands at the rams, you know, I had been through two training camps. I remember we were roommates for I think it was the second one. And yeah, one of the absolutely wonderful human being he was and just horrible what happened. Right. He was the key was a huge influence on me. I mean, a huge influence. And let's go into it. Sure. I go into the NFL, very I was very lucky to even get an opportunity. I get lucky enough to be coached by a Jack youngblood and then have a roommate like a Kevin green. And then years later, after I fail at the one thing that I dreamed that I would succeed at, Kevin green becomes my tag team partner while I was on top of the world in the wrestling business at world championship wrestling. And like the Hogan story, what was the coolest moment of my wrestling career while it was the night I beat Hogan at the Georgia dome, but it wasn't because I beat Hogan. It was because my teammates were there from the falcons. So what it meant to me to have in green as a tag team partner in professional wrestling and see the enthusiasm that this man had for it and for life and for football for God's sakes, it was kind of a full circle moment that the wrestling business has been able to provide me that nothing on the planet would have been able to provide me. That I didn't acquire on the football field. Let's dive in a little bit more Goldberg into that night in the Georgia dome. So let's set it up. I mean, you went to you played football at University of Georgia. You have three years with the falcons in the NFL. And here you are now at the top of your wrestling craft with Kevin green is a tag team partner at Brighton. You said their falcons teammates in the building while you beat Hulk Hogan that night, that happened? Well, Kevin and Kevin was my tag team partner at another event. Yes. It was years. It was years prior. But the night that I wrestled Scott hall and then early in the night and then I wrestled Hogan later in the night for the World Heavyweight Championship. The falcons, I mean, they were there. Obviously, in the wrestling business, you do a lot of cross promotion and these guys are as smart as possible as far as getting the product out there. So I quite obviously picked up the phone and called every one of my teammates who said, listen, dudes, anybody who wants to come down, let's do it. And let's have a blast. And away in and after I was after I beat Hulk Hogan in front of 45,000 people in Atlanta at the Georgia dome, were at play football. They when we went off the air, hoping and his minions beat me down and handcuffed me to the ring and spray painted me and who lo and behold comes out to save me is I'd say 20 guys from the falcons, whether it's Jesse tuggle or Jamal Anderson or chuck Smith or Cornelius Bennett or Shane grenade. I mean, it was for me, it was I'm just laying in the corner just laughing to go, man. These guys have no idea how cool this is to me. And equally, it was cooler to them because I don't know. For some, I get it. Professional athletes like to live vicariously through us. Sure. Because we're theater at the same time. And so we can quite obviously get away with things that they should never get away with. And so that's part of the allure as to participating, but it was for me, it was just a cool night of my life. I Batman. So what you're saying, essentially, even though you're not saying it, I'll say it for you. Deion Sanders is not the only two sports star to toil inside the Georgia dome. It's Goldberg as well. I wasn't going to go there, but let's do it. The second one isn't necessarily based upon quantifiable athletic power. It's more objective. Yeah, those are the dirty bird falcons years that you're talking about. Those are the good falcons. Cornelius Bennett's kind of forgot he spent some time there and Jamal and Jesse tuggle is a great name from back in the day too. I haven't heard that in quite. I tell you what. I mean, and the guys that I learned from jumpy gathers. Nice and you have to remember jumping. 15 of his family members in the NFL. But and pierce holds. Peers now is a neighbor of mine in a neighboring county in Texas. We see each other quite often. And peers was my idol plan in the league. And we were like locker mates and now we spend time together. So I mean, it's funny how that team was such a successful team, but I mean, there were so many characters on that team..

"Then let me get to this legendary. One hundred dollar tip from ken ballard. Thank you so much man. That's very nice of you. I says i've been watching the falcons for over fifty years. The funniest line. I've ever heard live regarding. The falcons was when kevin knight said during one of the preseason games. I assume. now that's how you throw a catchable ball after franks through that interception and the predeceased. Yeah that was pretty good one. I'm glad someone enjoyed that because we didn't enjoy the games all that much. But we appreciate it hanging out with you guys and enjoy and what we could takes again so much for that. Can we really appreciate that man Yeah well let's let's do transition to some more of that defensive talk on andrew all let you kind of get your your two cents in here How did you feel about the defensive performance. I mean obviously allowing thirty two points not great. But when the falcons you know give them give the eagles the ball on their own territory on two consecutive fourth downs. That's probably not great either in terms of helping out the defense. So how do you. How do you feel about that side of the ball in this game. Yeah obviously disappointed by the lack of pressure fronts Aj trail looked great. Fame wrote Give up that big play at the beginning but but you know he. He really settled down. I think when you when you think about the kind of situation thought missouri or or in this past off season you wanna find. Those cost efficient veterans. You can slot in You want the kind of guy who can get you know. Be blamed for big touchdown early in a game at settle in and be solid for the rest And i mean for what he's being paid. That's pretty much where all you can ask for. At this point one one thing not directly related to what we saw i think. Get to snaps on defense. The entire game not great. I i don't. I don't know it's i was really on him coming out of the draft. I you know. And i was hoping that you know this season with password schemes. Such an issue in new new defense new coaches another year progression for him. It was disappointing to not see him out there. I'm sure there is a very good reason for that Over overall i would give it like a c. plus b. minus ted gray definitely not indicative of the score final score of the game But you know when you look at the way. The offense had to very predictable in the second half and then they were just getting pummeled. And this is something we see all the time. The falcons defense just gets exhausted. And there's no way to quantify how exhaustion plays into a team defensive performance but when you look over the last five plus years in these collapses the falcons have in the blow they have you just look at how gas the defense is by the fourth quarter. It's a very common theme and You know when it comes to that. That's another just kind of a ripple effect from the offensive line being as brutal as it was this game. And i thought i thought the defense looked very solid in the first half then as they got tired and as joan here's really really settled in Got a little rougher. But i was encouraged by law to what i saw considering the town on the fields and Definitely hope to see you know. I would love to see junk. Get more snaps. I'm excited to see some of these young guys jalen hawkins I thought he had some good place as they over. Its place yeah is basically he may have a couple of key tackles. He looked good and he was flying around on special teams to You know mike walker was Making some noise it at certain points as well. So you know for me. I'm going to be looking at these younger guys Lot as the season moves on a especially on defense and i was encouraged by lot of what i saw. I'm trying to think on the positive side here Yes we can get that front for moving the such a game changer end. It's it's a shame that Comiskey have been able up of be that guy. It's a shame that The draft picks have not have not panned out in that area specifically and. I think we're all as falcons fans watched this team for years. Were so tired of this issue. We're just exhausted every year of seeing the opposing quarterback having enough time to read warren piece in the backfield's before throws the ball. And we're tired of seeing these guys with so much promise Going back to even jamal anderson and ray edwards Is just been ever since. John abraham left man it's we we're spoiled for a while there and it will be. It's going to happen again. It'll be very refreshing. When the falcons have front for or can generate a really strong pass rush. But it's just not there right now. Yeah yeah i agree And it's it's like. I don't understand the junk kaminsky thing either to me. I i always thought it was. I always liked kaminsky at edge. Like i always thought. That's what he played in college. That's what i wanted to see. They were very insistent about bulking up a little bit and moving him to the interior. Wish if you look at his athletic testing makes a lotta sense. He's like a ninety nine th percentile athlete for a defensive tackle at that point. But i thought maybe this year with how weak they are on the edge that they would give him more chances there and it just never really panned out so you know. He's just he's he's going to be a small defensive tackle. It's going to be sort of a pass rusher. only there. And that's going to limit his opportunities. He's gotta play behind. Greg jarrett and marlon davidson. Who also only had twenty snaps in the game You know it's just a great I think really liked jonathan bullard in. They're playing him kind of wanted the interior spots to but i would like to see something out of those young defensive lineman at they invested in over the years Agree with you there yet Erico goodhew next on this. What what were some things that you liked or didn't like about the defense performance on sunday. I'll be honest which. I wasn't really a fan of it. All the fourth down stops for great see at least a gallon. Plays a part. I mean we see that every year we kinda sorta sort of used to it now. They're going to get a four thousand fourth down. Yeah they can just get it there more often. Replay before down and defensively i again. I think sunday really proved to me and may May maybe many others. How you know this. This defense is in need of some true talent man specimen a front seven especially on the deep line. You know they. They need some guys. Dnp's is gonna meet some horses in order to put this team together. Initially so much he can do as a play caller You know especially with this particular scheme and and you know if you know his past you know. He's played fairly well against tom. Brady in the past with this particular scheme. I don't know if he's going to have the guys to execute that you guys heard it here first. The falcons are shutting down the bucks on sunday according to eric. I don't know..

Readers have to say about the falcons eagles game and if nothing else. This has been incredibly entertaining. I love all of you. Thank you for listening to the podcast. By the way we've been around for several years and We don't say this enough. And i know gene feel the same way but we really really appreciate you guys listening and You make this possible and we appreciate the support. You've given us all these years. Absolutely all right next voicemail. Here we go Just let them speak for themselves. I'm the south cans. Fan and from idaho which sounds weird by itself but It's it's been and i've been through you know younger person. But i've seen seen some things for sure talking sin and my real short life span the so far but There are all kinds of performance was really something else really really something else. Rivals that of Some of the worst performances from those super bowl years. But alas i hope why because next season live it really good draft pick. Those are my thoughts. Thank you bye-bye one game in. We're talking about draft. Picks bulkin falcons fan I do love the beginning of the season. Because you know we just don't have enough to go off of yet for any team. I mean it's it's impossible to know how this is going to shake out. And the falcons really did not give us much. Feel good about on sundays. So i do completely understand the overreacting in that direction. Just like oh you know top five drag here we Nfl economic drafted a quarterback. Maybe not that could workout. Who knows of my word. I got nothing to add to that. That was absolutely perfect. Next voicemail here we go just bad. Nece i wanna know though. Why asti falcons rally the other night. I saw michael vick in person. And i love my colleagues. Don't get me wrong. But where's the love for demo anderson. Why does this franchise not love. The dirty birds needed now. Talk about that. 'cause i don't wanna talk about game adults for moving forward week too. Thanks guys. that's that's actually an interesting question. I do not have an answer for that You know jamali. Under sending a heck of a nice guy. Obviously firmly entrenched in falcons history. He's had some pretty generally minor run-ins with the law. You know obviously. So has michael vick and you know i'm not i'm not making any kind of commentary about that. I mean you know. Serve his time. I've talked to him since about the work that he continues to do to help. Prevent dogfighting and You know i feel like he has He has atoned and learned from most importantly learned from what he went through there. But yes so. I don't know if it's You know his run-ins with law in the past air if there's some other kinds of bad blood there but i do think that that's an interesting question. Yeah i really do not know the answer to that. I mean literally the player that invented the dirty bird And was the. They're bringing back the dirty thing this year and henry ford so actually it would make a lot of sense to bring them all into something you a hundred percent and he was the running. Back ezekiel over eighteen hundred yards in the year. The falcons went to their first super bowl. He was absolutely dominant in that offense and unfortunately his career ended with two straight years with an acl tear which was advocating. But yeah i actually do under the same thing. It's such a great point. And that's why we love these voicemails. We get such interesting points like this but jamal jamal anderson with three as defensive mentioned all anderson we all. I think that makes sense to all of us. It makes sense but he's not being brought back for special events and being honored. Thanks but jamal. Winston the running back to as that one is confused. The the wrong jamal. Think the falcons have actually tried to erase his name from wikipedia in fact so to be fair. Alkan says it that we have two jamaa andersen's and one of them is somebody that we never once again as as our favorite writer. Fuck colleague would say matt chambers. He's a bust who next. What our longest voicemail. This one almost hit three minutes. I'm going to let it play out because there's some good points here But here we go yeah. Hey alcoholic Matt year twenty three been a fan my whole entire life And i'm i'm quite. I'm i'm sick of this team. You guys Is just so tough i. I'm already not a huge fan of what this regime has done in the front office. I mean just. I mean obviously we have to stick it out and see where they go. obviously more than one way to skin a cat but just starting right out the gate. I'm just not a huge fan of anything they've done. I mean you know. They drafted right tackle doping. They would change his position. Lately was making sense expecting for him to be manageable which didn't make any sense. I just feel like there's some delusion when in this front office that they can just kind of Stern by in and and that's going to be okay and it's just not Between you know mayfield looking god awful and and you know. I wasn't a fan of the draft. Either out by you know the thing which may take that. There was also other guards. There was other guards on the board at that time. Worry play injury autism last. Why not just take one of them. Wide say somebody else in and completely switched them completely swisher position but anyway I was on the justin feels train Just the quarterback and you go on from there. Looking team is going nowhere next couple years. You're going to need multiple giraffes to even think about competing competing. And by that on that ryan will have been close to forty and we who the hell knows what he's going to look like ben so why even risk that and keep kicking the can down the road anywhere in you know. Everybody says oh you. Can't trade them this much money and all of this all. There's not get the financial aspect. But i feel like if you're gonna trade him you're gonna trade mean you're going to have to eat the money you're gonna have to eat the dead cap anyway so it doesn't matter just waiting isn't gonna do anything so i was. You know. definitely on just accuse train and then you know just being metal just middling. I think that's the final thing is just being average and and you know not being good enough to where you're drafting and twenty eight or thirty two or something like that but not being bad enough to where you're drafting in you know and i just think that maybe not just the top on the top or something like that but you know at sixteen seventeen. What would you really expect so I think that that's purgatory in. Its own and so I appreciate you guys Listening so Cheaper bulk reward. Wow there was a lot there gina. Yeah he something released. The doubts me at that i think is valid. Point was his He mentioned Jalen mayfield having to switch positions and david as you know that is one of my biggest pet peeves when people are like oh offensive. Linemen are interchangeable because all the positions are very different actually and is a very big adjustment to from playing. You know exterior lines imperial lines so Yeah i think that you know. A lot of people have questions about what they were thinking with. Mayfield and i think that after what we saw him do on sunday by those fair and i had this conversation with someone else recently as well the the whole mindset and to be fair this is not just the falcons but there is a mindset in draft..

"The Eagles. San Francisco 3.5 point favorites. Now that the injuries that I mean they just had two major injuries. So correct is done for the for the year. Mostly they just signed Drakkar, Patrick and most of its on IR. So it's those are too big, too big a sermon Now I think we'll get bigger run there. Because they are the Eagles. Good. Or was it the fact they're playing the Falcons? Guess we'll find out something. But it's only 3.5. By then, half point. Take the by the half point. Take the Niners. Yeah, I would do that look at the same way. Saints that the Panthers Saints are 3.5 point favorites. In Carolina, You gotta give things crabbing egg. They did a number on the Packers. So I'm going to roll with saints. I am, too, because it's they did, And it's not just because it was the first game this season. They had all offseason to prepare. Sean Payton. Is that good? A coach he had. He had stuff ready for Rogers self. I just I'm still I just don't remember the things defense being this good. They were good a couple years ago. Uh, Malcolm Jenkins is Malcolm Malcolm Jenkins is back there almost called Michael Jenkins. But there was one, um They're solid on each level. Not great, but they're solid so and playmakers. Um Lattimore is out. I mean, it's I'm gonna go with sinks. Rams are at the Colts Rams are four point favorites. I love the Rams, the Rams right touchdown, at least in that game. Like the ramps, the Colts played solid. Like I said, they gave a big plays, and that was the difference between them and the Seahawks and Cooper Cup. I did not know he leads the NFL and yards after catch. Says he's been leak, Does he? Really? Yeah, That's amazing Catch yards after catch Cooper Cup is since I was a 2018. I saw it. I was like that when I came up when they said it sounds like no way and they put the graphic on. It was like Okay, I tell you, it makes sense, though, because Cooper cups the guy that catches that little five yard slant and he's gone. He's gone. Yeah. I like it. Yeah. So I like the Rams a lot and I was disappointed with Carson Wentz, his play. I just I mean, I don't know if he's reached his ceiling, or if we thought it was that that run that he had before he got hurt. Was just An anomaly like Mark ripping mean I don't know, but had a one great year. Yeah, he's on Sports Illustrated. And all that stuff my buffalo. You never heard from him again. Yeah. Brett Ribbons, brother, right? No, his dad was very Evans. Dad. Yeah, I want to play for the Broncos. That Yeah, as Lord I'm old. Like we said Raiders are at the Steelers Steelers six point favorites. Steelers. After all that nonsense. I just saw, uh, yeah. Patriots at the Jets. Pats are five point favorites. Yeah. Now have another motivated team. Impressed by any of the rookie quarterbacks. Mike Jones. I was impressed with, um what exact Wilson now. It was weird. He had a very good preseason and then brother season he kind of looked Darren headlights a little bit. And what do you think of coaches bringing in their rookie quarterbacks in the packages? That stupid? It's just dumb because you're tilting your hand. You're not bringing in the last two. Throw the ball. You know, it's a run bad It's r P l And he's keeping it there, telling them either you hand it or you run. It's not. There's no players the same thing with the Bears and Justin Fields, right? Well, you'll let Justin Fields throw it. But at the same time Why are you if he's if he's good enough to do that, then he should be playing. Yeah. I mean, they as almost like They said, Let's get him the first NFL touchdown. Let's get him out of the way. Yeah, so I mean, Ended on is just holding that scene top by weekend, Bye week comes and it's just feels shop and here's a line that to me makes no sense. Vikings at the Cardinals Cardinals only four point favorites after the way they dominated defensively that tightens and how badly the Vikings played against Cincinnati. How can you not take the Cardinals here? And you realize it's the game that's going to bite you in the the ones with the Vikings will end up winning. That's the one where I'm still telling. I'm still advocating taking the card exactly Take the Cardinals because that's the smart play, but the Vikings will win. Yeah, absolutely exactly what's going to happen, and that's how betting works. 100% Falcons are at Tampa. Let's play. Guess the line I'm going to say. It's at least 10. I'm gonna go 10 13. Oh, here's your 13 Point favorites. Well, even though Tampa Bay won that game, they're going to be motivated going in. That's one of those where their attention has been. Okay, Now you've got our attention. We're ready to go. And Employment. Ryan Poor Matt Ryan. They're coming for you. Yeah, When you when you're running game consists of Mike Davis, who is Just decent. I guess it's better than obviously better not ever be so, but he's not. You know Jamal Anderson back there. He's not, uh, he's not giving me all warm and fuzzy know exactly So, Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna lay the 13. Really. It's a lot of points in the NFL Falcons are bad. They are but 13 still lot of points to lay in the NFL. And they just they just lost about almost 20 to 31 to six sales by 25. Jeez and the Eagles 32 to 6 something like that, and they don't have Mike Evans and Tonio Brown and Gronkowski and Chris Godwin made your point. Keep going, and I think that game was in Atlanta this games in Tampa. Yeah. Now another very interesting games. I like some of these games in week. Two. Dallas going to the Chargers, Chargers are three point favorites. I'm going to take Dallas and I'm taking notes on my line. They look good. I like. How do you not like the Chargers in this game? Because Justin Herbert still makes Bone had to say that Dallas defense does not scare me. The Redskins did called in Richmond again. The Washington football team defense to me is much better than that. Dallas. Yeah, they are. I just Dallas impressed me by the way they played in spite of Mike McCarthy and all I mean, I was impressed with they should have won that game against Tampa. So I'm gonna go money in line with the Cowboys. Funny, saying that because I almost bet the Cowboys and the entire week I was thinking I'm picking the Cowboys in the points because of what you said about when you raise the banners usually lose that Something wasn't points. Take the capital and points in the morning of the game. I'm listening to the radio on second. You know, you really should take the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers are going to dominate. I said, I change my picture The Buccaneers. I got hosed by it. I cashed. I walked up to take care of my money..

Mike McCarthy Mike Jones Mike Evans Sean Payton Michael Jenkins Mike Davis Chris Godwin Justin Herbert Drakkar Patrick Matt Ryan Tonio Brown Jamal Anderson Carson Wentz Malcolm Malcolm Jenkins Malcolm Jenkins Brett Ribbons Falcons Chargers Cowboys

"Of the sec and the name because they get ranked every year. Oh they do something new and knoxville's a great place. Great place to watch football game fans are into it. there's always there just. They can't get over the hump against the real good team and they wanna consistent basis again. This year he goes in east. Beat yeah you know what everybody a lot. A lot root for my southern cal trojan to that quarterback so good. I feel good for your team to chevrolet do i. I don't know why. I'm buying the hype. Good within that. I'll makes all three. You know when it was it was a good thing to that to that. Damn video that freshman tight end. He wanted to go grab seventeen. Hundred yards and pride in heisman. Mix if i keep watch that video by. I thought was just throw to him. Yeah the whole ties. Perry sorta yeah are handed. I don't care where you get it to him. Give it to them. Throw it to him handed to him. Walk out and serve a tomb thrown check down stone. Go routes toss it to him in the backfield thrown bubble screens. Throw them option routes. I don't care what. Seem just getting the ball because he looked like he was a dude planning a dude man playing against a bunch of junior high guys right and those junior high guys is planning. It's were se big time recruits on the practice field intact limb to save their life in a live drill and he punked him. So yes okay. i'm with. I'm all in i. If he's that good. He continues to progressively pretty good by the time he leaves. School won't he. He should be. You'd think so. Yeah and he's got the quarterback there you go all right you said going away. I actually think this is an easy for me. These easy eight to pick not one guys ever done it twice corral. We've had guys do it in college football and the nfl. We have had a guy close to doing twice and we have had a guy in the nfl college football. Marcus sound barry sanders. Both did it in college in the nfl but eight guys have done the the two thousand yard season do you. Texans have got add to this list this year. That'd be nice. They won't get all four of them running for two thousand yards and if you have five of them and they don't run for two thousand dollars as a team. They're going to win one game. They're not going to. They're going to win one game with they're lucky. Let me say it again. They're not running for two thousand yards. They run for last year's team counting two thousand eighteen. Hell no running now thousand. Some fourteen hundred with that with a very mobile quarterback healing ran for four forty four. There's they're not doing it. There's only one team in my opinion. Tell somebody tweeted at the team. Run for two thousand yards now. That's in jeopardy too. Because i lost baltimore. That's a two thousand. Oh that's the other one there you go. That's the other one. I don't look at any other tennessee. Still derrick henry. I guess i'm talking about the back in two thousand eighteen hundred right. Yeah i would. Yeah now that you mentioned. I forget about him. But cleveland would be the odds on favourite because a to yeah and baker can move a little bit. And then you got you got derrick henry who can do it all himself. Even last year they ran for twenty six hundred and with baltimore and henry to still on the twenty right and it's actually not as easy. It appears it's just you got an throwing league. You gotta be committed to right when you have a quarterback like the lamar jackson in baltimore who rushes for a thousand plus himself which i don't really know without dom that's the problem and so two thousand might be a little more difficult. If lamar runs for a thousand something you just need to back to run for nine hundred yards rain for three thousand yards last year more teams around for two thousand and i thought one out. There was less than five ten really. Yeah that's actually more tennessee. Cleveland new england minnesota new orleans arizona green bay philadelphia los angeles. Rams i'm shocked about two of them for sure rams not well dead them as well. But i'm shocked more about philadelphia. Yeah and i'm shocked about new england. But they had cam but up and down but they did. Yeah that makes sense but still not surprising. Ten teams that ran. I would've thought it was especially in a passing. The i would have thought it was more difficult right also too. Yeah i don't think the rams are rushing for two thousand yards this year with stafford and camakers outright deal that's in two thousand nineteen their texans rain for two thousand yards. Yeah how many watson half seven eight hundred number nineteen year before so that'd be ten. Maybe that's the average. I would have thought without knowing that stabbed. There's probably i would have thought. Oh there's probably five or six now. Five max so maybe it's more more often. But yeah you would think cleveland just with two cats on their. They're running for two days so the list. This list seem pretty easy. Let's let's see if we can do a dickerson number. One twenty five barry sanders. He's fourth Derrick henry dare carries. I'm down jamal. lewis. Jamal lewis is third. Terrell davis had to six chris johnson a lot of people would forget him and he said simpson oj. I wanted to do it. So you're missing just number. Two man that would be peterson peterson. There you go so and dickerson had all of those except jack completely forgot about ski was the first one i wrote. I would have forgotten about john. Lewis getting one of them. But i would have forgotten about him my other my question marks because i couldn't remember oj simpson. I wasn't sure about walter payton. I was pretty sure. That was a no but i wasn't sure shot. Alexander was also a question mark and priest. Holmes was a question mark. So but i forgot about oj. Yeah you start to think about. Who's the best one never to rush for. Two thousand yards earl campbell. He had a one thousand nine hundred yards season. He had a seventeen hundred yards season. How many how many yards that your guy in atlanta when he had four hundred and five touches or something that your jamal. Jamal anderson jamal anderson eighteen hundred seven hundred ninety eight he had. He carried the ball in eighteen forty six hundred times that year plus ready reward ten. Oh yeah like four hundred eighteen time in rushing yards and season demarco murray eighteen forty five. He had that one. Really good ten carries that you're that was his career. He did well. He was never the same after season where he hit. Two hundred carries more than five hundred tint carries. Beat him down to look one player. I'm just curious. What was the highest amount of yards. Ladainian tomlinson ever got. He had fifteen thousand eight hundred and fifteen. And that's good for you. Combine that with catches. He his all purpose yards through the roof right. He was probably had a whole bunch more a year. He had five hundred eight receiving yards sixties every year had. Bs we always another name. We leave out and the two thousand yard list but not the rushing list to do both was like the original cap was roger. Craig member thousand underrated players. Nfl mine and his tough sucker and is good. A dude is there was. We got him after the san francisco. We got him in minnesota. I'm telling you love roger and it was was such a full grown ass men on the field and such a good dude and a great teammate. But that year in san francisco and he's catching for a thousand running the football reference. Page for that. you're it. Listen as fullback. Now that why do they have well. Rathman played fullback. Craig didn't and he didn't. Roger didn't play listed as four years of his career. That's not they didn't. They moved him with him but he was always running. Back and a thousand yards of both the mccaffrey's ladainian. Thomas marshall fox come to mind as well marquette. Alica catch to and another dude. Who is so underrated. And i don't know.

"Because i like. I know what he's going to be like you know it's just like exactly like he's going to be fine. He's going to do his job. And that's it. That's all. I need them do. And it's really my concern. About the falcons defensive lines always about are the other players out. They're going to do their jobs. I don't i. Don't worry about tyler gibson in that regard. Yeah he said it perfectly. It's all about the sax Again i feel like that is usually where fans go. I understand it. It's the sexy stat. it's the one everyone looks at But at the same time he plays his role in in he does a fairly decent job at it. And that's about all you can ask when you start getting into the depth of the defensive line especially when you start looking at guys who you have played and have been liabilities like the you at least one guy that you can plug in there and you know most of the time. He's going to do what he's been asked to do. Instead of being run defending literally a never tackling geyer or clogging elaine. We've seen that before too all right. There's another name on this list. And i don't want to spend a ton of time on him because i've well i'm going to get your take on this. I feel like he may not be long for this roster at this point And he came in. I think fans in i got caught up in it to thought. Okay this guy. Maybe he's gonna turn into something If he gets the right opportunities and can hit his potential and snot. He won't he won't even be in training camp. He's on the pup list upper body injury they haven't really said what the nature of that is. He has never lived up to that He he's you know gotten a few snaps games. he's mostly been benched. It was with the previous regime. So take that for what you will. But i feel like there's there's a chance that he won't even make the rosser. This year. there was a chance last year. And i think he's sort of squeezed in regardless. What's your take on snot. And his likelihood of even being a falcon that twenty twenty one. Yeah i mean this has been you know. Once the team cut ito smith unceremoniously this off season. It was like You know some of these. Two thousand eighteen draft picks are going to be hard pressed to make team Especially when you consider that of the twenty eight hundred class other than calvin ridley you can make a pretty compelling argument. That ito smith contributed more to the twenty twenty five consent. Anybody else in that draft class and he's still got cut So it was one of those things where it was like. I don't know about peterson. I you know. I think given where he kind of fell out of favour was talking about davison. Giving you a little bit more of that sort of to gaping Nose tackle that the falcons were looking for as they shifted more towards a sort of classic quote unquote classic. Three or four. Look these last couple of years and didn't really fit that description. I still think not good player. I just don't think atlanta was the ideal place for him to get his opportunity. I think a lot of ways. He was probably a little bit over. Hyped coming in in two thousand eighteen draft class. Because we knew that the falcons had a massive need at the tackle position. I think people kinda made defense not to be more than what he was just to kind of fill the void that the into obviously had at that position which tends to happen. You know people do the same thing with john. Kaminsky where the pass. Rusher john comiskey guy. It could be something as probably not not as far as people's hopes and dreams as far as passwords goes but maybe in other contract contributing ways and we may get into later but You know. I just think it just wasn't a great opportunity for him I think he can still be a solid contributor. Zala rotational piece in this league. But it's probably not gonna be in atlanta as you say. Yeah and you mentioned the next time i wanted to talk about. It was john kaminsky And the thing. I find funny about him erin is the the hype around him Being from a small school Being a you know one of those guys who's a quote unquote athlete. You know he. He played quarterback converted over to defense In college In you know really raleigh here all that stuff that people like to put together as the narrative to sort of build him up. The thing i find funny is that. The atlanta falcons even bought into it last year. Like they were doing hype videos about john kaminsky. I feel like some people. Forget that. But i remember seeing these hype videos for him in training camp in thinking. That's that is a bold move for a guy who has taken the fourth round in this going into his. You know his second year in the league. It was very interesting to me because that is not something. You've you've seen the team do in the past. And yet i still feel like there is some room for kaminsky to be better to have a role i would like in him to Sort of what. We got out of croix bearman early on where you know. People want corbiere man to be a twelve to sixteen sack guy. He was never going to be that guy. But core bearman had a role and bearman. I feel like for where he was drafted in. What we got out of him was decent value for that kind of player. And i feel like if kaminsky can find that kind of role. Even the fans won't love it because they want him to be that twelve to sixteen fat guy. I feel like that's a win when you get someone like that out of the fourth round. Am i off base. Here you feel like Kaminsky is maybe with fans is going to be held back by the hype but could still turn into a productive player for for what we spent on him. Yeah i think that's a fair assessment for me my assessment of junkie. He's he's right on track to where i thought he would be. You know. I think this speaks to sort of the differing expectations that i had for john kaminsky who when we drafted him. I was comparing him. To dis jamal anderson in ritchie dagan. Which you know for fans it's triggering quite workout because those guys came in with a lot of hype but Fortunately i think the thing that john comiskey has going for him was he was not a first round. Pick like those guys were fourth round. Pick although he did come in with some hype. And i think a lot of that is to the fact that he did come from a small small school. Nobody really had seen him play. And so when he was that Was the hall of fame game against denver where he got out and made a bunch of plays in his first preseason action and that was everybody's first initial impression with john quincy and that kind of set the bar a little too high. The people didn't realize like oh he can't play like that's him beating up denver's like third and fourth string deep offensive linemen and those aren't the guys at starting. Nfl game so like that's not what you're going to see in the regular season. I think people still have a hard time understanding that the difference between the preseason and regular season you know good players. Don't play the reason that's usually. How goes it you gotta you gotta consider But like i think john comiskey where he is like giving those calms to haeggman and anderson. Were you save what you will about those guys but in yours. Three for those guys. They started to coalesce into the best versions of the players. They wound up. Beat and those weren't the superstar. That wasn't for the next. Richard seymour for jamal. Anderson wasn't the next mario williams. Whoever people were comparing him to back in the day it was just like for anderson. It was a solid run-defender. That gets you a couple of pressures. you know a sack or two here or there that he had like three sacks in two thousand ten season and for hagen..

"Beast? I was watching the earl Campbell football life the other night. He was on any time I see her all Campbell football if I got to check that out. Earl Campbell had a game where he had 104 temperature. They're like, Well, maybe you shouldn't play and he's like I'm running. I'm playing football. He's like, I don't care. I don't care what my temperature is. I'm playing football. And then there was another part of it. They're like they're like they had bum Phillips. And you know a training camp and they were like, Yeah, we have. We have this drill where you know, Earl runs forward than he does Cariocas to the side that he runs backward and the two times that he ran through the drill bum. He fell down when he ran backward and bums like only bum Way, said, comes out and like, Well, I ain't asking him to run backward. Who cares that he falls down? Running backward? He's Earl Freaking Campbell. We won't ask him to run back room man. Eddie George 403 in 2000 that was fifth most In NFL history. Number four there. Dickerson 404. Number three. James Wilder for Tampa. Wow in 84 407. Jamal Anderson, the dirty birds 1998 4 10. And then the most And the most recent Of all these 400 dudes was Larry Johnson. I knew you're going to say that 2000 and 6 416 attempts he was 46 teen. Man. He ran hard That dude needed some ice bags. Offenders needed some ice bags the way he ran. They all did. Everybody ice back to everybody. I mean, that's absurd. Nobody I'm looking. It's really nobody's even, uh Nobody. Wait a minute. We do have a guy in the top. 20 Derrick Henry. At 3 78 makes sense. Yeah, and then the other one to like the other one. That's close to, uh, now is 2014 DeMarco Murray had 3 92. So they sure What am but Shanahan wants to do. I mean, it makes sense again because.

"Cookies instagram. Doing what i just saw you are porn page. What are you doing. Stop it stop for. Hey now what do you don't know what the hell are you doing back there. You doing anything. Yeah let hey. Let's give them one. Do you have a falcons question. Aaron since you loved the atlanta falcons ooh Yes they suck. There's your question and there's your answer no actually. I do have a question this door for him. I just had to give the not just so considering kyle pitches coming in as a tight end. So what does that leave for hating hers. What's his role going to be right. They're going to run a lot of double tight formations. It's my understanding arthur. Smith if you look at what he didn't have the coordinator in the league not named the head coach scoring your love him and he's gonna have enough play. Action built in to keep them honest but yeah look for him to use those guys as a weapon. The cow spit pits will be split out quite a bit and i think hayden. We'll do some of the line stuff and traditional end role but cow pits. They nailed that when they kind of a unicorn. I think this is a special tight end and he could be heading to tony gonzales type of the college football last year. I do and i think he translates if he's healthy. I don't know how you defend him as long as matt's doing Matt thanks and Guys still suck tighter okay so that leads me to one as well as well as we saw. What are they doing at the running back position exactly. Because i mean todd gurley gone. The freemen's gone jamal anderson. He's kind of retired. Okay mike davis. That's your guy. Not former indiana hoosier head coach. Mike davis our sort of in between the tackles wiggle. He's a move the change a little bit gets you if yours. I think he's not a bad player. Slightly underrated rier and they're still trying to develop more backs. But yeah for matt ryan boy. He's going to have to have some darts and he can do it though. Mattie ice is a good quarterback still. I like the decision they made with pits. Instead of quarterbacks. Didn't feel comfortable with justin fields to me. there's a big boom or bust aspect to him. There's no doubt in. And listen. Matt ryan will fall out of bed. Four thousand ain't gonna move much but he'll throw it but tyler you know what you're you're not overrated man. The past your the frigging goat did much of south gets talks. He's holding down. I absolutely i love it. You know he asked running back question. Who's the leader for the texans. The running back position. 'cause i got like nine million running backs now here david johnson. They're gonna use him in a versatile role. But i think he's going to be a lot on the base offense and he's also play a lot on third downs and then mark ingram soon be allowed to the tackle stuff. If you look at david he averaged four point seven per carry but almost all of the hey he made was outside and now it's running behind laremy tunsil. The there were very much anal left-handed team a lot and then when titus howard he gets a hold of somebody he'll drive him he can do a few things but they were so bad at guard and center with nick. Martin with zach. Fulton with mac scharping. And that's why the interiors different justin brit. And you know they bring in. I think lane taylor. My money's on him when he's back from his acl. That'll be the right guard. And then i look at left and mac scharping. He's going to have to fight off his alty fro. Hold and justin mcrae. He was pretty bad. Last year was a stem nak. Scharping's got a rebound to get the starting job again. But mark ingram will get the stuff in the middle and phillip lindsay for a little guy is actually it's weird. He's a decent inside runner and they actually runs bigger. Yeah he plays bigger than one ninety He's a tough piece of leather. He's small. But i think that he's a rugged little guy and not a great pass catcher but the best pass catcher they have other than birkhead. Is david because david played wide receiver in college northern ireland. He's still got some great hands. It's just a matter of creating enough targets and distributing the workload expert. Tyrod run som-. I'm looking to see some of the baltimore stuff the bully formations the extra tight ends and they don't unfortunately have a blocker like a pat ricard and nick boil and those guys are special. It's hard to find blockers like that does have a real hard in the backfield that size. He's a stat monster. Yep i would welcome in baton. Which for aaron wilson how you doing. Hey how you doing sean and got a question for your guest here. It seems you have a lot of insight on the nfl. I wanna kind of get an idea of what your call sales on what i feel about jacky on the texans Now this is my belief. Jackie is running texan opposition down. And and now we're starting to be one of the worst bogging and rain and nfl Behind jackie's the and bill o'brien and what they've done to this team and actually like nick caserio even though he's the new gm she's a little bit over his head and some of the moves he's making and it is not really gonna turn this program around considering the coach bowden audis one year players Jerry active running backs you know things of this nature and let my thing is what is the lease think. Thinking of how this organization has been land. How do they feel about the texans. towd magneto is he truly over his head. Does he controlled his team. That's what i'm i'm what you're talking about. The the nfl like the the ownership and like the commissioner's office. How they feel about cal running the organization. Yeah i'm caretaking other chains. What the media think. What is the insight across the you know across the country. All how bad organization is iran. Doing all right. Great questions fired up have added the perspective. League-wide is they. Don't spend a ton of time looking at the texans. They got their own problems to worry about if you got problems. Nfl people like good. They're not our problems. They don't spend a lot of time debating. Hey it's not like sports talk radio where these owners get around man. Count mcnair way. He's got a dog of a team. They don't do that. They worry about their issues. When i talked to general managers may evaluate personnel. Or geyser in pro personnel are scouts. And they talk about the texans. I've had questions over the past few years. what are they doing. Why would they trade deandre hopkins like the fans. They worry about stuff like that. They look at the salary cap mismanagement. They look at some bad paper that they put out their contracts. Like whitney mercilus randall. Cobb and they say yeah. There was a definite mismanagement of resources. All of those things. The criticism of bill o'brien. They're valid honest and legitimate bill. O'brien is not here anymore. And we look at nick caserio. You're talking about a different skill. Set different expertise. This is the kind of guy that multitask has got a bluetooth thin. He's on a versa climber. He's working out and he's cutting deals heated fifty transactions fifty new players so the guy's a hard worker. He's busy and he's thinking about. How do i get the competition better. And how they're perceived getting a lot of guys selling me mix things they'll say. Hey i understand what they're doing. They're trying to build a culture now of other say you know but they sound a bunch of no names. I'm not that excited about some of their signings. Stand what he's trying to do sent. A baseline have been tied with the with the money. I mean he had to do some major surgery and he mentioned jack. Easterby and jack easterby nick. Those guys are tight and jackie series of big reason. That nick caserio is here. And that's one of the best things about this franchise is the general manager and the fact that he's got six super bowl rings and he was.

"Hitter pretty close to finishing one earlier this year. These only pitcher in baseball this season with four outings. That have gone at least eight innings. That's it he leaves baseball innings pitched now be he's now the last three starts or so. He's been flights out his numbers this year if they were to put together gay he's he's on the all star team in the. There's no question there's there's no doubt it said it's amazing what he does and guys. I'm still. I still marvel was a good weekend series. And you know the the numbers and they're gonna hit. But when when greek he went the distance. I i do marvel in major league baseball. How rare it is now. Honest to god to go nine innings marvel at it and think about what you said. I mean zach. Rinky leads the league in innings and easy only pitcher to what get into a four time. She said four times this year. He's only pitcher. It's gone at least eight innings in game you had four games going eight innings right. Think about that. I mean it's just. It's i know it's changed but it just it when you look after i you know. When when he pitched a complete game. I always go back. And just look and see you know numbers and pitches and just you just kind of go through it again. Just kind of go over the stat line to and when you just see one name under the pit you know where. There's no no no seven one inning. One eight when you look at bullpen really and in major league baseball. It's so rare. That one guy rolls through pitches a complete game. We don't see it we even if they're good enough to do it and the rolling along good and they feel well we just want to get are closer in denotes. A three to one game get are closer. It's just it just doesn't happen for the most part very often. So he's been so impressive. He knows how to write his own ship as good as anybody. I've seen he really. Does you know some guys can be going bad. And he and i think part of it. Mc in in tyler goes with personality. I don't think he lets thinks fester. Now maybe in his own private life when he does maybe it drives him crazy. I don't think i don't either. I think he's so good. Because i think it would be very difficult to turn that on and off right but his ability to like yeah. I wouldn't very good. I sucked it just a self deprecating and then go back and fix it to process what went wrong. And he's had a couple of games that were like what what happened and then come back complete game you know. Give you nine innings and rest of open. It's almost like he looked down the ballpark or tired. Let me go get this best. Part of it was in the post game. He comes onto the zoom and goes. Yeah i didn't really think i'd be able to go nine this season. I've been getting tired and my last innings. I didn't really get tired today. Like segregate but isn't it so matter of fact he's been getting kind of tired. This season starts but did they get tired. It don't you believe he's on the mound when he steps off the rubber and thanks man. I'm of tired today. But i'll find a way to get through. I honestly and i think his his reality check with himself allows him to come out of this stuff and not let listen the ninety nine inning complete game. That won't fester for him. He won't even be thinking about it now. It was like okay. It's another game that's happened in a number of times in my career just like when he has a bad performance where mere mortals it. It's hard to come at. It is especially young pitching. You're you're thinking about especially if things start to go with the trend the way they did the game before and if you struggle like oh here we go again to get yourself out of it. That's normal zack. Greinke he's not normal. And i mean that affectionately not normal when it comes to the way he goes about his business the way he prepares the way for a guy. Who doesn't wow you with overpowering stuff like he's like he had when he came into the league announces he's a pitcher he drives you crazy if you're imposing hitter and he's just like perfect for this team so you blink and boom bullpens rested their fresh ready to go and just a week ago. We're saying they're worn out. Will you get in deeper keady before this last start gets deep. Garcia has been going deep. We know how The you know got Did a nice job coming back in his first start. I mean you start to roll through. Now greg's nine innings it's impressive. i'm just fascinated with him and what he does. And i was fascinated with steve sparks. Breakdown of why. You would pay cray while you wouldn't. I always love his honesty aside from the sense of humor and he's really good baseball guy right. He keeps come back action that he's playing by the way i mean you gotta start having the real conversation again. Hey we got to pay him. But we don't negotiate during the season. Remember that deadline remember. Sure we don't okay. If they call his agent say house to eighty sound guess. What three hundred that. it's amazing. How quickly negotiations can turn around right. The question is will they do. They believe it's worth it. He balls jumping off about right now and his leadership through the roof and steve sparks validated. That it's impressive to watch. It's impressive to watch the thing. That's most impressive. About him is the way he handles his love and his arm. It really is guys fantastic in the field. Sports talk seven ninety. Seven three five to two fifty five fifty five seven one three five two two five five inch longtime friend. Very this. is the sean salisbury show. Sports talk seven. Ninety sean salisbury. Show with heavy and all right. I asked the question. If both have their best seasons of their careers so winces would be super bowl. Season leading up to his injury. Got the ball in his hand. Sixty five seventy times. A game Julio jones would be one of any number of seasons tyler. i don't know what we don't yards. He thinks so. I thought he was eighteen. Plus close to nineteen hundred and one of his seat never been a dominant year in your touchdown. Catch whatever reason it was back. That's i knew it was high. Eighty nine hundred thirty six catches a year. That okay. two thousand fifteen. Yeah i knew it was close to nineteen hundred but and touchdown catches. He should catch more and he should be a bigger red zone threat than for some reason over the last couple of years atlanta didn't make him winces best season. Julio jones best season and you would think that the logical answer now you've got to take the big picture in mind would be of course if wentz has that season. The coulter automatically. Yeah the division winner are they yes. It's the only logical answer there because if he plays his best with the team if they had a better overall team than tennessee does he puts that together. They're going to be a monster. She i think defense is the biggest difference between the two onic. The colts have one of the top. Ten defense in the league. And i think tennessee titans are struggling and i think right if whence has a great year. He may be able to overcome even if they didn't if they had a few. You know Injuries on defense and and wars. Good as we think they can be. If julio jones has a great year and the defense isn't as good or is like last year. They're not gonna win the division but think about now. The overall impact the team if julio jones has that type of year mixed with aj brown derrick. Henry are we are. We not sure that the impact won't be felt as much in tennessee. I mean definitely be fell. But i that'll also mean taniela monster. You're right. yeah he had a monster your last year without him. I didn't hear the last couple of years. Two years ago. Was his big statistically pretty big years do it either way. I just don't know that. I mean that that team again. It's as great and what happened to me. What's interesting what happens at some point that wheels will fall off her. Derek saying they're going to this year but like you run a guy into the ground that much there's a there is a track record of keep hand the ball to this guy this many times like eventually he's gonna to break. He's over three carries of the last two seasons. Like what happens if he gets hurt to that offense like is it is. It's lethal still with those two guys. Like is it as a lethal. No the question is for me. And i'm talking about this. Julio jones impact. And 'cause i know like i said the logical answers lynch's playing like the mvp because he's the quarterback and if a if a receiver makes a huge impact will it's eight catches in game right at eight for one twenty five a huge game for a receiver. Right eight for one thirty. That's eight plus blocking. You're involved in eight difference making plays in the game not counting the blocking for derrick. Henry is the quarterback you may be involved in fifty or thirty four of them if you're throwing or good play action so you're right about that part i'm just talking about the effect and it goes to what you the part of what wife said earlier. What you're saying. Now about derrick henry and yes i can tell you this now derrick. Henry looks like he dresses in a phone booth. right should be wearing a cape. He's at good. He's a stemming he's a monster superman the problem is i've never seen a man over the course of time even a guy like him. He's a to be able to run like him have his widow of abuse. Physical exam isn't it. Isn't it similar to take him. I mean you can only you can only take somebody body blows before you throw up right at some point time. And let's not forget the carries he accumulated alabama right member and two of the three latte level. Two of the three latest heisman trophy year. I believe it was where he had double the two or three last four games. he had forty plus carries. Yeah i know you say well. He's young in the ball. Eight heavy i get it but over the course of time. They start to add up his listening. Here's the league. He didn't carry the ball no he did. Because because of because of the dallas cowboys demarco murray and murray coming off. You know when he had to leave here. In dallas three years one ten one seventy six to fifteen in terms of carried preserves him for the back three. There's no question but now look at his touches since he's been the starter. What are we say. The shelf life for great back usually would be if i get seven years. Adamant is top production. That's a lot right. I feel good about five right. Okay at best right. So we're we're about three years into. Derrick can respect respect correct. This is a these three. This is coming off a three straight years. Where he's at least been a thousand earned back right and the last two has been dominant. Last year was the almost four carries and two yards so julio's impact. Julio julio jones's impact right you start to say okay. If julio is healthy place great and todd and downing has a good season calling plays. Aj brand continues on his ascent. That's why i asked this question about who's impact more of julio's plan at a pro bowl caliber level and he plays all seventeen. Now if i can get how many touches the derrick henry have out of the back to last year please seventy eight rushes and we only nine four four four hundred four hundred touches yeah. Four hundred touches and not included in at twenty seven touches is what that it has here. Three hundred ninety seven and so three hundred ninety seven touches not including pass protection where he's thumping on a linebacker safety right so but just the touch alone. Almost four hundred. Remember what happened. And i'm not saying that there could be completely different. Remember when jamal anderson. And you know this tyler in atlanta you were younger. But when he had the like four hundred and twenty-five carried the at four hundred plus carries he was never the same after that right have been the super bowl. run out. yeah he houston to the year. That the only i shouldn't they did it twice in a three. And a three year span. After airing foster at three hundred fifty one carry season the next year. He was hurt half the year in the year after that he was good but he was hurt again and then his career was basically over the aberration. There is the aberration. You know you get that one cat. Who's just well derrick. Henry who's six four looks like an outside linebacker runs like a hundred and eighty pound running back speedwise. The new adrian peterson. Maybe like peterson. Maybe seasons they break the hurt at one point right and the hey listen but it would be the aberration as my point to take this punishment year after year after year. No matter listen. "We experience a lot of injuries that year without all everything running back Jamal Anderson and so many of our other key players. You're right. We had a dismal dismal year when I was expecting there when I got that call from coast results, yes. Disappeared and Super Bowl. So without a shadow of a doubt, we're gonna be contenders his upcoming season from I was bubbling over with excitement. Big, quite work to help that yourself tough season. But man, that's how the NFL does. You ended up in Cincinnati, as well as Marvin Lewis turned of that whole thing around, and I think people might forget just how much heavy lifting there was to do that. What did Marvin have to do to create a winning franchise there? Yeah, he had to change the mentality and he had to change the right away. It was either you do it his way or the highway? No, if ands or buts about it, he didn't have time to play games with. You wasn't trying to be your friend. He was trying to get that program on the right track. And he did just that. You know, I had just had just been a really good season, my fourth year with the Atlanta Falcons, and I was a free agent man opportunity to get some offers from some really good teams at that particular time. The ST Louis Rams is what the greatest show on turf had an opportunity to visit with them. Co. Tony Dungy called me with Indianapolis Coast, the first day of free agency called My Agents and, Hey, they wanted to sign me. And then come the Bangles well, In other words, the bungles. Let's Let's call it what it was like being right. It was the bunkers back. Think of the Bangles hadn't had a winning season in over a decade and coast. Lewis took over the job, and he was trying to change the culture, and he Call me and say, Man, you know, I really want you to come take a trip up here and see what we have to offer that I had just, you know, came up in the electrifying season when Michael Vick and the Falcons and have some other really good teams interested and make some winning programs. And I didn't want to go to a to a team like the fingers, but when I got there You know, Reggie, we know what you can do on the football field. I need a guy like you who can come in. Also teach these men how to be men and responsible young men off the football field. When he said that I still have a bunch of hesitant because I just didn't want to play a Cincinnati but when he said, I knew that that was the place for me to play it, and so I was extremely excited for the opportunity to be there and the must met at some of my best years. That's because Marvin Lewis in the beings last pretty cool, forward tight and Reggie Kelly 12 year NFL veteran Falcons and Bangles joining us this morning on the show. You mentioned Michael Vick 2002 year on that Falcons team. You guys were a wild card squad. Vic Electrifies, everybody. You guys go upto Lambo. Nobody could win at Lambeau in the playoffs and you guys pulled the trick. And that was kind of the start of the Michael Vick legend. What was it like? To watch a young Michael Vick in his prime, do what he did for the Falcons. But what we in the NFL had never seen anything like this coming from the quarterback position, but for that matter, any position We had never seen a quarterback or player in the NFL. This electrified Like a one man show it sometimes at some points of the game and and often times, you know, coaches tell you play Hey, played through the whistle block. You got through the roof when you're out four speed through the whistle..

"Follow John on Twitter. If you're ever up in the Seattle area, or you just want to know what's going on. Even from here in the bay Area, Tune into John 7 10 ESPN up in Seattle, John. Thank you for your time. We appreciate it. How are you today? Doing? Well, good to be with you. Um, uh, We're all confounded by this Seattle team We saw this season because they were two completely different teams from the first half of the season to the second half of the season. We'll dive into that, but for another thing who's listening right now, and they're looking at the Seahawks laws. To the Rams and thinking is this the beginning of the end for the Seahawks? Is it Or was this just Ah, weird season for the Seahawks like it was a weird season for everybody. And as long as they got Russell Wilson and now with DK Metcalf and Jamal Anderson on the diva Jamal Adams on the defense, they'll be able to get back to what they were. A few short years ago. Yeah. I mean, they're not gonna be able to be as good as 13, 4000 and 14. I don't think that could be in the cars because that team was just one of the better ones you can put together, but they're Super Bowl run. Still there. It's just that there was a major setback yesterday and are lost season just because of that one loss. But where the problems old During your course you mentioned dramatic change. I mean, here's a team that started season. As the worst defense in the history of the National Football League at one point, giving up 362 yards passing a game, and that was incredible. No pass rush. They couldn't really do anything. Their offense gets off to a great start. Russell Wilson averaging 34 points a game there. What he was the first half n v P If there was going to be a first half N v P Then things changed around because in the second half of the season, and I think part of this goes to the idea. No, no Pete Carroll address is to a certain degree today is that the idea was red Rust cook, Which is what Russ Russell Wilson be more involved with the passing offense passing on early downs passing in the first three quarters, which is something that goes against the grain of Pete Carroll, and they let that happen. I think what they didn't realize number one. The first five games were against bad defense is in Minnesota. Atlanta, Dallas, Miami was one of the better ones. New England wasn't that good, particularly stopping the run. And so I think they got their heads and loaded a little bit by. You know what they gave up, and then what they were what they were gaining. So then they get in the second half of the season, figuring Okay now we're taking on some young quarterbacks. The defense is going to get better. Started getting the sacks they started playing better in the defense. They ended up in the second half of the season is the fifth best defense in the league for us how the last eight games went, But then on offense, things went south. And I think this ghost that where the less run less right with rust cook A slogan goes is that they got away from running the football. I mean, they ended up with the 40.2% run percentage compared to 59 8. That's not Pete Carroll. He's a 50 50 guy and they got away from that. You look at the running yards that they gained. I mean, they gained like about 123 yards per game, but you have over 500 yards from Russell Wilson on the 680 yards. From Chris Carson, who missed four games with injury, and he he only averaged 12 carries a game that against he played no Carlos Hyde had eight carries a game. So they've got 20 carries a game out of the running backs. And so I just threw everything off. And so what they need to do, and what they plan to do is go back more to the running game. We'll see if Chris Carson's gonna be back because of the injuries and everything else. They've got to make more of a commitment to run if they're gonna make a deep Super Bowl run. Well, no doubt about it. And then they gotta pick better runners. I mean, you know Carlos Hyde were shot. Penny has been disappointing. DJ Dallas, Alex Collins. I mean, they're they're okay backs, but it's It's Carson's the guy and he was dinged up. It clearly was not 100%. Let's jump to the A F. C John X. I'm gonna ask you about this next round between Buffalo and Baltimore. First of all, you know, Buffalo got the win against the Colts. Josh Allen, played well in the rookie kicker had nine points. But, man they Buffalo cannot stop the run. They didn't get to the quarterback. They only had one hit on rivers. And now here comes Lamar and the Ravens. Coming off a game where They just ran from a seven yards a carry 236 yards. 8 400 yards rushing the week before. How do you what stood out to you in those games? And how do you see Ravens bills next weekend? Yeah, it's gonna be a problem because that's the one weakness that they have on defense is stopping the run, and now they go against one of the best running teams in football, a team that can easily put up over 200 yards against them and keep Josh Alan off the field. I mean, the one thing that's so fascinating, but the game is that the questions about Josh Alan and the playoff game and the more Jackson in a playoff game or answered No, Josh It was able to get the 300 plus yards but also he survived. One mistake that's always held against him in Big games is trying to do too much, because remember here he was getting sacked. He breaks away from the sack and then turns a sack into a 23 yard loss. Which is not good, but they survive that. Lamar Jackson for the first time not only won his first playoff game but overcame 10 point deficit in a big game. He's only been able to do that once in his career, So it makes for a fascinating game between these two teams. And you're right. I mean, the running game is going to be a problem. Or trying to stop it if you're gonna be buffalo Right. Let me ask you about the decision, Frank, Right. Going forward at the end of the first half was 14. I was tender Tender. Seven at the time. Indy kicked a field goal. You go up 13 to 7. He didn't Buffalo drives down. Takes a 14 to 10 lead at the half. I hated his answer when he said, Well, the analytics were pretty strong there. How many coaches John in the NFL now? Are a slave the analytics rather than letting the analytics inform their decision. I mean, I I was kind of like whatever Would have kicked it to keep momentum on my side. It keeps me within within one score. Even if they scored two touchdowns. I could be within one score one score of you. They had three cracks at it from first and go out the four to fourth and goal it before. I don't know what makes you think the analytics say, Hey, it misses the first three times, you'll probably get it the fourth time. How many coaches now Just look at the damn chart and say, That's what the chart says. Let me go with him. Yeah, too many, because I know I know that the you know, going for the fourth down is now on almost a 45 50% success rate. But again, is what you're going against as a team as opposed against doing it against a good team or a good defense. And so if you're stuck modeled up like they are On you Trying a couple cracks in the one yard line and you can't make it And then you decide to go for the fourth is just a mistake. Take the points because if you can't do it two or three times, you can't try to do it 1/4 time. I think it's going to work and I think it really cost the team because in a close game like that, you need points and they lost points. And so I disagree, because I see it too many times. Like. For example, this year, Pete Carroll, not analytically was playing around a little bit more, which trying for thousands, and I mean, here's a team that can't turn third downs in the first house, and it's like you're trying it on fourth down and come on, stay away from that..

Okay, So so their cameras, Eric, and now we're down to three guys. Who's that other dude? Jamal, not Jamal Anderson. Maybe not. You know what? I can't remember that Jamal Jamal Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens said he was gonna do it like cold, and then he did it. 2066. He's actually third all time. V P on that list. Great question did very different. Everybody he must have. He must have. But I can't be real quick if you want. I know we're late on the clock. We could get to the city you have to. And I'm just assuming that O. J. Simpson was the m V P ants, everything. There's no way he couldn't have been a VP and 73. I mean, he had to have been 1973 0 J. Simpson was the MVPs you had to have been otherwise toward a world that was truly BP from 73 Peyton, one in 77, Earl Campbell and 79, Marcus Allen and 85. Thurman, Thomas and 91. We go, Dammit Smith and 93, Barry Sanders and 97, Terrell Davis and 90 eight's. That's two right there.
