"Philip rivers to be a colt next year. I think he still wants to play football. Well i'll tell you what Yeah i mean. I know that question. We're so focused on this year. But i do expect has a philip rivers wants to play football He can play football. I think he's got multiple years left in. I think he's playing some of the best football career right now. I mean right. Now he's playing so good And i love working with them. You know you know his contract situation. He's got a one year contract so So there will be a time and a place to talk about all that and contracts and all the other dynamics that going to be in a thirty nine year old quarterback and all that other stuff. But i know this. My and respect for philip rivers has done nothing but increase working with him again respecting what he's done for a Our team our organization. The way he's come in and handles himself as a leader. It's been nothing but the very best and the other thing i wanted to ask you. Now keep in mind. This has absolutely nothing to do with. What will do at quarterback in two thousand twenty one. But i've known you for a long time. You're a people person and you get very close to your players. And i just wanna know this as this season has gone on your hundreds of miles away but does part of you inside you feel for carson wentz and what. He's been through knowing that you were his coach just three years ago. One hundred percent on like you said theater. And that's not unique in any way. A lot of coaches get close to playback. I was very close. Not just with carson with nick foles as well both those guys and you know. And they both had tough stretches. Nick had a tough stretch. Down in jacksonville You know and now up in chicago you know. It's been a tough stretch for him. And i'm extremely close knit i'm extremely close with carson I all those guys will be lifelong friends like you said. That's especially at the quarterback position. There's you know because of my background in history you know and being in that room so much i felt i felt for carson this year. And what and not just You not respect that whole organization and know experience that i had there was so positive And my respect and admiration for doug peterson and how we in the whole crew there But certainly my relationship with carson in. Nick was special and i root for those guys. I believe in those guys i believe. They're tremendous man leaders and players. And i always want the best form. Frank right. listen best elect this weekend. Whatever happens you guys Really had a great season and somebody is going to get all left out in the cold. "So it's a coup for the jets to have landed him and they got a really exciting season and future ahead bigger talking about teams training the right direction. Huge amount of draft capital two first round picks in twenty twenty one and eleven in total in a number of those within the top three rounds. So whilst this is a franchise a roster that needs a fair amount of overhauling subtly with being able to preside over defense If you get even close to the one he had in san francisco. They're going to be competitive and they can add a lot of other key offensive pieces around today. I mean volume the same question through given the capital at god seems to be the conventional wisdom going to move away from san donald but i wonder whether they might give him one last hurrah look at next year as a rebuild year invest that capital elsewhere maybe even polly some capital into even more and cover legrand quickly. Yeah the It's something and i think they need to. Because buffalo's only gonna get better and stabilize and miami should be getting better as well again. Not everybody takes the same progression. Step up make the playoffs and all of a sudden. Boom buffalo remember made the playoffs. That year Jacksonville and mcdermott's first year and we're right down to where they drafted josh allen the year after that After the two thousand eighteen season. So it's one of those scenarios where you've got you you got to be certain about where your goals are and i do wonder for the jets. I think it'll take a few years still to dig out of this I i would have drafted darnold. One overall I i still think there's great football left for him to play I would. I would like to see how he works himself out. But i also think you trade that number two pick if somebody you know. Whoever wants to go up. And take one of the two quarterbacks from byu or from ohio state trade that pick for as much as you can get Because i because. I think the jets know that they've got that regret there with. They drafted jamal adams. Four picks ahead of patrick mahomes six picks ahead of deshaun watson. they wouldn't have. They would have had to draft. Sam darnold the next year with and trade up to go into the top three if they made the right. Call a no knock on jamal adams nice player And they actually did quite well in moving him along to the seahawks at the rain. time by. yeah it's It's going to be intriguing to see what they do at number two and boy There was there was still some high hopes for adam gates through. That's the weird thing is the jets have tried this before i feel like yeah this this is this is the right hire but you never know you. Think about the lack of hype for. Doug peterson there. Questions in buffalo Sean mcdermott and you know. Even andy reid and kansas city. It's like are we just getting somebody that that just wore out his time in philadelphia. Should we be going more innovative younger. And you know it's very difficult to judge these things but the jets the jets Look like they've got a guy that is going to be very very inspired and as you mentioned they've got the draft capital. God knows fan. Base has been waiting long enough to be good again. Yeah big time. It's a good to see. I think A team like the jets attorney in the right direction. You need despite dysfunction. The disappointment they've had at the in need a big market teams like that of big characters. The whole adam gates thing is we were hearing on our show. Last night on a radio show was just painful to watch that unraveling strays. They didn't make it cool and pull the plug on earlier on in the season. So you think the bill's gonna make the super bowl. Greg who they gonna be playing sleeve on a prediction. I don't know how green bay loses at home. this. I am shocked. It's aaron rodgers first. Nfc title game at home. He's one and three and nfc championship games net and there've been some stumbles obviously They lost to the giants when they look destined as a fifteen in one team. There was a lot of talk that year. Their only loss was arrowhead against kind of a lousy kansas city chiefs team. But there was talk about them being an unbeaten team this. They were clear odds on favorites I think that's the two thousand eleven season to win the nba the the nfl To win the super bowl and beyond the first seat in the conference which they were and the giants. Tom coughlin eli manning. Go in and And they just dominated green bay. So there's been so. Many false starts for aaron rodgers. It's hard. It's hard for me not to see aaron rodgers playing on super bowl sunday. And you know. I i again. Does tom brady go. Quietly into the night In this game. He'll be back next year as tampa bay quarterback. But i think i think we've got a packers bill super bowl so Someone put it yesterday. Afc siberia against nfc siberia weird year. Where the fans don't have to worry about being cold. Those too cold weather fan bases could have gone down to tampa got some sun avery. Temperatures at game time You know what could have been As you say in the year that we've had british stuff very well know in This time next week. We'll know exactly who is going to be playing in the super bowl and we are going to be rolling out a lot of content as we build up to the guarantee. The mr brady will be a part of that so check in with you very soon. The time being facts about always appreciate love your insight array weekend a loved reviewing it with you. Net always do. Thanks so much take ever greg. He will be back soon. You can guarantee it. Because as i alluded to as we wrap things up there is.

"That draws you closer together so that it's not just a okay. We're going to make this work. But now i see now. I see i really get to see who you are now. I get see how you respond under pressure now. I get to see what you really believe in. Because i've seen it tested through these things and we have a chance to work through that together as a staff. And that's the part of the process in this business. Coaches thriving thrive in grinding it out in those meeting rooms about how we're gonna come together what we believe in as a team. What are what's our philosophy gonna be So that process has been fun and mattie loses case he is an outstanding man. He's not with high character. High integrity man strong conviction A man's man so a lot of good dynamic discussions for those who don't know many refuse. Well he the guy is aig. Who's going to get some head. Coaching interest With some teams unsure. He'll get some interviews. If a team calls you and asks you about mattie flus give me a little idea of what you're gonna tell them about him. As a football coach in a leader are believed to be a strong later. You need to have personal a strong personal character and integrity and he's he's a plus in that regard he's an a plus he's got a clear vision he's a very good communicator. He's a very good teacher He's a man of deep conviction. He's very principle center. He's very criminal center. You know he's kind of guy. I can go to as a head coach. And if i'm trying to decide on i gotta just the schedule or hey some were doing in the off season or something about how we're gonna approach something. In the season i go to matt. We can talk through. He's kind of guy he always seems to have a good answer. And a good wide behind He holds players accountable He's very smart defensive. Mind you know with a proven track record. Those are all great qualities of a leader to be head football coach. Nestle wanna ask you just one or two weather things about what you've seen this year in a very odd year for football what's been the toughest thing for you to adjust to as a coach and and obviously it couldn't have been too tough ted five but what's been the thing that you have had to adjust to it's made this year the most challenging I just think social distancing thing You know in the virtual thing while like you said. Peter we've made it work and i think we'd become very good at it. Our players especially deserve a ton of credit. But you know you've spent your life around the locker room you spent your life talking to guys and there's a closeness in that locker room and on that field that it's not just the emotional ties of when it's a physical closeness. There's something you know. I just played. That's how we're made right and and In that regard like we always gotta be looking over our shoulder. You know not i mean. You just can't do those things like you're used to doing at the same level. So there's a part of that that i think having to take our locker room and split our locker room up hammett team meeting where where we're spread out in a in a room that's mass size of a football field and i gotta get a microphone and speak across a football field to a group of men. Where are normal team. Meeting room is tight intimate. You know work together. I mean that's the way you're in hoddle you know you're like when you get not meetings You wanna be. I wanna be spitting on you when i'm talking. You know That that's the coach. End up getting fired up and intense and excuse me. I didn't mean i didn't mean to spit on you there. But you're you're there's is those moments right the those. I miss those moments to closeness And there's something is not just emotional. There's a physical To it as well. That's an incredible. Answer because i wonder how much of that really gets missed in a year. Likeness mike mccarthy asked me the other day said what have you thought of the football this year i said really entertaining and and and i said i think the footballs has been pretty good. He goes well i. I'm sorry. I don't agree because a lot of it is like in your world. You probably see nineteen things every game. Said you know what we didn't have that walk through and so we didn't go over. This arena didn't do that. But i'll be honestly i. I really been entertained by the football this year. What have you thought of it. I honestly i only know from our perspective Again i got a credit everyone in this building starting with the players and the coaches. You know that we made a determination that that we're going to be no excuses for a step down in quality of how we prepare and while you miss some of the physical closeness that i was talking about from an intellectual side and a teaching side we've mastered the zoom we've mastered the social distancing thing we've mastered you know the one thing about walking through outside on the grass. Everybody wearing masks outside in the fresh air in. We're still wearing masks. And but wert compromise those reps You know we just said were. We just tried to set a standard of were not. There's no excuse for for lower quality football and And i made sure. What the coaches. Hey you like even in the off season and when we got in training camp and we're having to meet via zoom and stuff like that where it's your show. It's your personal challenge. How are you gonna keep gazing gates on zoom call for however many hours a day you have to do it. I don't know how you're going figure it out. This figure it out and to the players is i had guys. This doesn't work if you're if this is a one sided conversation. I know we're virtual but you have to engage. You have to ask questions to laugh. We have to be together it those things still. Can you know it's not the same but there's no excuse like tony. Dungee is to say no excuses. No explanations Let's just get it done. So i really feel like as an organization. Chris ballard and i've talked about this a lot that would that's just going to be the standard that we want to set two quick questions about the future number one..

"Teaching. That's the main thing we're teaching people. What is right. What they didn't see or whatever the case may be right so going into it. I'm i'm i'm all about doing the right thing. Voicing my opinion and doing it in in a manner debt. it's it's it's how should i say it's being it's being seen. It's it's a manner that people are going to listen to. You have to listen to it. Because he's speaking about him. He's very prideful when he's passionate about it right so it was it was it was something that was tough going through it. I i've gotten a lot of dm's about it. A lot of negative. I've been called in ward multiple. Times been called every name the book when i ask for trade so i was used to so it is what it is man. You know. i'm proud of who i am. I'm proud that. I took that stand in a voice my opinion And through the national anthem always hold up my fist. Because i'm proud. I want people to see a proud. I'm proud to be a black man. That's what i wanted to see. He's he's proud to be who he is. And that's what. I was about so the black movement is still going on. We're still continuing to teach people. What what what is about an You know we're we're making. We're making some leaps. And that's all that matters jamal adams. Listen i really appreciate you. Wilson throws 4 more TDs, Seahawks rout winless Jets 40-3

"The Seattle Seahawks kept the New York Jets winless with a forty to three victory Russell Wilson threw four touchdown passes as the Seahawks bounced back emphatically after being dealt the first home loss of the season last week I think that's one of things that I I definitely do really good job of this you know I'm not gonna waiver you know I'm always gonna move on the next moment move move on accentuation move on the next game and win or lose and and that we won a lot you know so definitely do that Wilson has thrown at least for scoring strikes and five of those games this season safety Jamal Adams set an NFL record with a second quarter sack to give a made a half of the season the most ever by a defensive back the C. Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams says he 'fought depression' while with New York Jets

"Adam said that he was depressed because he was on a seven and nine football team last year. I mean, give me a break. The Jets were not Owen 16 year clown. Based on Jamal Adam's description of depression. Every Jeff bans been depressed since 1968 since Joe Nemeth walked off the field in Miami with his arms pointing to the sky. What a joke. People that actually have to fight depression in their lives to be a Paul. I mean, Jamal Adams is such a fraud. The Jets could go. Oh, and 16 with or without him. They won that deal. They got two first round picks. For a player that has not made a difference in Seattle. He's been hurt, perhaps the games as well. New York Jets Officially Release RB Le'Veon Bell

"All right Levian, bell got released from the jets, which is big for us, which is team don't pay running back also big for us, which is like the jets are the funniest organised eight picked the jets go to the playoffs last year. Let's just talk about that for years in the past last year. Split here's a here's a few. Since the jets hired Adam Gates things. Destroyed Sam darnold confidence and development. Check. Chased a homegrown talent out of town with incompetence in Jamal Adams. Made sure that no free agent will want to sign with them for years to come. Ranked last. In offensive production for two straight. Seasons. And let's just talk about how Adam Gates is. Still there he is still there and wait my favorite thing about it at all. You remember Anthony Barr was signing with someone off season. You remember the whole thing he signed with the jets he took a pay cut. To leave the jets and sign with the Vikings. He literally said no will work for less money as long as I don't have to be there. That's what that says about this jets organization.

What to watch for when the Seahawks play the Miami Dolphins

"For a Sunday football game against the one in two Dolphins. The Hawks are less than healthy team ruled out with injuries are defensive backs Jamal Adams and Quinton Dunbar, linebacker Jordan Brooks and coach Pete Carroll says. Those guys might rest until after the bye week, But there's an opportunity. You know if if a guy you know if it's just barely at the end of the week, he's just making it back that taking that extra week could be worthwhile, So we'll just have to gauge that as we go. Fantasy Football Forecast: One BIG THING you should know for every Week 2 matchup

"I sit out the way New Orleans versus Las Vegas raters. We saw New Orleans showcase really really solid, really great defensive performance against Tom. Brady and the buccaneers They were pretty on disappointed as a team, lot of penalties on their defensive side of the front. The saints rebel to take advantage of that. La Raiders played against the Carolina Panthers last week and gave up thirty points. It's very possible that New Orleans doesn't look as Resi as they did against a really solid defensive front in Tampa. Bay and they might have their way with a raiders team that is still kind of pretty young and trying to get their footing and all this stuff. They don't they had an injury to majority of their wide receivers in the last game. So Dan, Waller seems to be their only solid option. At the receiving side of things that might mean there in Waller's uptick in target's share and my means, he gets an ends on this year or this week maybe something good happens for him I'm buying all the stock now I'm Kamara right now for this game, this should be Alvin Kamara. KAMERA's two touchdown, a hundred yards from scrimmage plus game. This is this is the one I wouldn't see why would be any otherwise and to be quite frank. I think that a lot of players on seem to have a really big game and this would be a really fun game to see trae Kwan Smith. I'm going to bring them up again. This'll be a fun game Trey Smith. Look to be a solid. Relieving game just for brevity and sake of saving saints, fans of fantasy fans alike, some worry as to what the saints offense can look like without Michael Thomas Soaking up a lot of the defensive pressure. All right. So Fancy implications all over the place you know Josh Jacobs. This could be a really good test to see just how much they believe in Josh Jacobs as a pass catcher because I don't know how much he's going to be able to do in the run game considering New Orleans is when had and still does on one of the better run defenses in all the football. I think the best game. Pound for pound this week has to be the night game on NBC, where New England is playing against Seattle that they're going to be playing in Seattle New England the we have a kind of banged up cam and she says it's the there's no hamstring issue but. Of Most people are saying that he does, Kinda. Have a little bit of a hamstring thing going on and we'll see how that affects him with all read option stuff and what we saw from last Sunday's performance maybe we started to see cam throw a little bit more, and then we can really see just what this doing his offense really has to offer for them sure that bill will have them ready for whatever and we saw sea hawks offense that basically let Russell Wilson do what people have been asking. Them to let Russell. Wilson do for basically the majority of the back half of the dense. You know twenty seventeen was to let Russ Cook and Cook did Russell Wilson? Do He only missed four passes? He had A. Great amount of yardage great touchdown passes de que look. Nice at times he did have some drops of course, Tyler Lockett looked really good. Chris Carson looked amazing. In the past game. We had some really good screens run in for touchdowns. They got tight ends involved the plethora tight ends at the seahawks own and their defense was literally flying around all over the place. Now, there are a lot of garbage time touchdown stuff in that Falcons game that I'm not GonNa hold against the defense when it mattered. Jamal Adams and of course. Everybody else in that defense just looked phenomenal. They just looked physical. They looked like they were flying around and making plays they look very formidable as team very formidable. So. That is a game as the May have a lot of implemented implications on things so KEEP IN MIND I think one of the better secondaries in the League is New England's granted they played against. The, dolphins but they did not allow that many receptions or receiving yards at all for either receiver on the dolphins and Tyler Lockett, and care very athletic fast guys but. It's going to be tough. Is GonNa be a tough about we'll see what happens. They may have to change up the strategy of leading Russ Cook for this game in particular and work through the old tried and true run the ball and try to make something happen later on in the game. But for US Russell Wilson owners like myself I hope they just let him throw the ball a little bit more that'd be nice. That would be fun I think we'd all like to enjoy that. So moving on towards another game I think the Baltimore Game at four, twenty, five eastern standard time on CBS is going to be a good one, Baltimore versus Houston. This game can go I think Houston is a team that kid look Jacqueline Hyde and they've been jekyll and Hyde ever since the Shawn Watson is come on that team and. Not Sage. It's the Sean played bad last Thursday. But he definitely did not look comfortable one hundred percent of the time and you just was trying to make plays. His offensive line wasn't there fully stout at all and when it was time to just throw throw throw things Kinda got out of hand for Houston Houston can't be a team that gets to behind too quickly or else it is going to be nightmarish for the offensive line. And it's going to be a bad day for Shawn Watson even though he can make miracles happen at will while Samour's in perfect position to take on a team that showcase bad tackling display. So this is a team. So if this is the time where you want to be like, okay JK Dobbins, he didn't have that many targets but hey, he got two touchdowns in is the time to test out the JK Dobbins is going to be. The album? Kamara. To Marketing Rooms Mark Ingram. So we'll see what happens here Lamar he this seem doesn't tackle well, Lamar could have himself a anywhere closer to forty to fifty yards rushing easily against this team if he wants it, and of course, Mark Andrews is a guy who I would think would eat very well against the Houston team that allowed drivers Kelsey to get like five catches in the first half with ease marched up and down the field with ease Look to see how David Johnson looks in his second bout. David Johnson had a nice surprise of a Comeback Week one performance that a lot of people were speculating was possible and he delivered for the most part. So that was encouraging for many people to go ahead and see so I wouldn't. Put it past him to do it once again. That's really really against the I think that Brandin cooks is still a bit. So that would not be. Great for folks owners. And I would be looking at anybody who has. Willie snead Willie snead was all over the place last week and it was almost to a shocking amount of how much willie snead was dependent on and I said Willie snead. That was not who I meant to say I meant to say will fuller will fuller will around the field for the Texans last week and I would like to see him continue that stretch because that would be. Pretty awesome to be completely honest. I. Would like to see a will fuller healthy and showcasing that he is here to stay in this league and thus it would not make me feel nearly as bad for short.

New York Jets defense bracing for some Buffalo Bills' trickery

"Looking at the Jets offense, Adam Gates was quoted as saying this week, Greg that he has a little bit of concern in terms of being properly prepared. For this bills defense he mentioned he mentioned quarter's coverage in particular because he said, We really don't see that kind of a look from the Gregg Williams defense in practice. No. What do you so what do you make of that? And how big an issue could that be knowing all of the time on the field that Every team in the NFL is missed through the course of the spring and summer. Well, it's funny. You say that I did last week. I did a deep dive on the bill defense. I was real curious, because you know you get a totally different feel when you watched 300 snaps in a row versus when I want your team with, you know each week, So you know, with this offseason, I was able to do that, and boy they Number one. They're very fundamentally discipline, but they're a little more multiple, and people might think when they blitz. They blitz a lot of different players from a lot of different spots, but they do play cover for quarters. It's a foundational coverage for Sean McDermott. He did that when he was in Carolina, and he's obviously brought it to Buffalo. And yeah, if you don't see it a lot. I mean, it's not a defense. We go. My God, What do we do? But you know there's certain concepts. That you want to run against quarters. Look, every zone has holes and every zone can't cover everything. Otherwise everybody would play the same zone. So you know there are certain route concepts where you wanted, basically flood zones. You want to attack the safety and the corner in quarters and Adam Gates knows how to do that. It's just they don't practice it a lot in their camp, but he knows how to do that. So we'll see. You know, it's obviously you need repetition against it, and I'm sure they're working on. They've worked on it this week. How much does it mean that the Jets defense who was pretty good at times last year particular with CJ Mosley Jamal Adams in the lineup, But you take those two guys out of it. And how many proven players do they have? And what are they going toe? How will that affect their defense? Greg Williams was one of the best in the league. He's been doing this a long time. You guys obviously know he was in Buffalo for Ah little bit, but it's a d coordinator. I think it's just 20 or 21st year doing this. Hey, knows an awful lot of things. He knows NFL offense. He's He's somewhat limited personnel, but he was a year ago is well and they actually played pretty well. If you want to sum up Greg Williams, you'd probably say that he's aggressive, but he also plays a ton of cover, too.

"A look at the schedule and testing guidelines as things get going around the league, all players must pass three Cova tests over a four day span before entering the team facility, today and tomorrow players will. Will be tested and then return home to isolate for twenty four hours. Meetings are still virtual. After this period, players will be tested daily for the first two weeks, and then every other day. If the positive rate remains below five percent players do have the option to opt out. Really get back to that in just a moment, but first here's what a handful of head coaches are saying about today. Sorry I mean again. The emphasis will be that. We've got to follow the protocol. Be Very diligent with. That's the thing that I think that we're missing right now. A society is that. Is that not very diligent as we? Understand more and more about this. It seems that you know that that wearing a mouse washing your hands socially just. Trying to avoid large crowds You know you give yourself a chance. We're fortunate that we're testing here testing. And you know so. We're getting results quickly. Other thing that's been beneficial. Of Our and Continuing maintain, Around the League, a number of US going to have to be the best teammates we've ever been because we're GONNA have to not only take care of one another, but we're really looking after your families, too, because we're going to make the best decisions off the field and I think we've also learned you can do all the right steps, and still you know have positive tests so. We'll take them when those happen. We'll deal with them, and that's why the protocols are in place. And there's this component so far. Nine thousand nine hundred players have opted out of the upcoming season, and the list is growing some notable names here. Including Three Patriots starters also. You've heard GPS guard Lawrence do Vernay Tardif and bear stalwart Eddie Goldman. Adamant feels like this list has been growing by the minute today. Take us through exactly what the opt out means and the deadline to do so the impact of this. We'll susie this situation where I think a lot of players are concerned about what they're seeing across the country with the spikes in various states, some of these players who are opting out have friends, relatives, family members who are sick. Who may have passed in this particular case, every situation is unique and different. Dont`a hightower welcome to child in the middle of July Patrick shown is scheduled to have a child in the near future, and I think players are looking out for their safety and feel unsettled about the fact that the virus has affected certain segments of the society more of the disaffected others. It has affected the elderly, I. Think we're going to hear more and more. More about coaches around the NFL something. We're not hearing a lot of right now. It is affected minorities and I think some of these players have been scared off by and are opting for the opt out for this upcoming season. We've seen a higher than expected number of opt-outs and again players have until August third to officially. Opt Out so this may just be the beginning we have six opt outs from the new. England patriots already, and there may be more coming across the League Uzi.

"Who I think! My here's my thing and I didn't WanNA conflate prior to Joe Douglas. What happened with the jets with what he's done? But the storm clouds are still there because what I just don't like about. The team in general is that Douglas alone is going to have to navigate. Greg Williams can figure out how to use the remaining safeties and this that Greg, Williams probably won't be there. Five months from now Adam Gates probably won't be there five months from now, and so you hope at that point the Joe Douglas believes enough in his role there in any organization to see it through the long haul. Pick a coach. He likes. I mean you cannot. Some of the stuff that whether you like Jamal Adams or not that he bumped on with what we're hearing about ownership I think you have a systemic issues from ownership on down with the jets were whispers that. The johnsons don't want to spend a lot of money on players, so my thing so. Three years from now when Denzel mims is a star what happens when he wants to get paid? Find a way at some point to the. Joe Douglas not proven he can't do this I think he can, but you gotta draft well. You've got to develop core players. Keep them around, and it just frustrates me a little bit because. Yes, it's a nice draft Taba. We really can't evaluate this trade for a number of years and I think we're I got emotional where I. Just don't like this cool you got. Got To draft picks I can point to that the browns on my end doing that a thousand times and you got Danny Shelton and Cam Irvine one year. You Got Justin Johnny Manziel. Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden. You got to real peppers. WHO's no longer on the team? He was traded for Odell Beckham. That's part of it but David Joke. Who was part of a? A three first round, pick first round and David Joke. WHO has not panned out so I mean it is a total dice roll and you have to hope in a really weird next year. Where there's a potential, you don't even see college football season that you're. You're hitting on that level of player, and then the year after do I. Think Douglas is talented can do. Do it. Yes, he's got a lot to navigate beyond just simply evaluating in picking players. Though right I've sort of changed my way. I react to these in terms of the draft picks of just saying like. Hey, this team won the trade you know the maybe the jets won this trade and thought a little bit more that draft capital. It's great, but these are two. Let's say they're mid to late. First round picks in a in a best case scenario you're you're praying. You could replace Jamal Adams is total value between those two players. The odds are you won't, but there are also on rookie contracts, and the process of getting those traits like the process make sense the thing I would push back a little on. Dan is a his. You know actions. made it impossible to keep. Keep them if they wanted to I. Don't think it was you know he was using his leverage. which was you know being vocal about it i? Think if in their heart of hearts Joe. Douglas was the guy who drafted him or that. They really believe. Jamal Adams is the best safety in the league and we WANNA. Keep them they they could have done it. They would have done it, but they didn't. They ultimately didn't really want to. For whatever reason it. It should be noted that and that's true. I agree with you on that. It should be noted that there are people that connected the dots and said Oh. When Adams trashed Adam Gays to Mitch Meta I think it was two days after He was on our podcast by the women. that's what caused the trade to happen. No, if you talk to people plugged in with Douglas and with the jets that this was going on for a while ago, between Seattle and the jets, and what really made it happen was the agreement, and maybe this'll be lacking one other thing to add here, but the agreement made between the NFL and the player's about what the salary cap will be. Friday where the nouncement was made that the cap is going to drop potentially next year because of everything that's going on, but it will not drop below one seventy five from where it is now, which is about one, ninety eight and one Seattle. The jets had the framework of what the CAP was going to be That is really what pushed the deal through there. You Go anyway. Let's let's move on, but before we do I mean if ever, there's a time to check in with Keith has us? It was F- Adams got traded. Let's hear from my old man. You know. Own! Will. Throw? Here's my take on the Jamal Adams Trade. Great talent. two-time pro ball player leader, fiery individual, but. He had become a total distraction as far as concerned team. He was be critical of geese, woody and Joe Douglas. Just pushing the envelope just trying to. Create trouble as far as is concerned with the jets He wanted to be the highest paid jet. And With no participation in the off season program. He wanted out due to losing. He had said many times last year, so. Hopefully it works out for the jets. They usually don't make out very well with these things, but. It's about time. Things are going to turn up right. Not a glowing royal, but realistic you can see the through line though from like the Keith take to the Dan. Take. This is yeah. It's funny because you found yourself at the heart at the center of it, but this story line of the players 'cause Jilin Ramsey I'm thinking about specifically the players to using their voice and their leverage that create trades I mean this has been your corner even before it came to the jets. It's it's that's my my kind of final thoughts on it is. It's happening. Jalen Ramsey Stefan. Stefan digs. It's happening Jamal Adams and whether you want to see this as something that's empowering to the players fine, or if you want to see it as something that is bad for the league and bad for fans, ultimately because stars, you get attached to leave town before you feel like they should. That's fine, too, but it's going to continue to happen and guess what it's going to happen to your team to. It's just a matter of time until they riot Charlie. It's more likely to happen if they're run poorly. Well, yes, everything is more likely to go to go sideways when an organization is run poorly but I really think the rookie scale needs to be a revisited down the line because I think these players that outperform the rookie deal by the third year are going to continue to be upset about being under. Something ATTRAC- air right. The precedent has been set now and you know this were in nineteen. ninety-one players have no voice, and you wouldn't be hearing half the stuff. We're hearing from Jamal Adams, but we live in a time now. Where many good ways player empowerment. Is is at its height, and you know Jamal Adams I. Don't know who was sort of in his ear through all this, but he has a flair for the dramatic. Give them that and it was about every third or fourth day Jamal Adams is doing something to get back in that that news cycle, and it just seemed to chip away at the relationship with the jets.

"Vanity Project with my Buddy Bob cash drone. But if you listen to one episode, that's the Voice of God for the around the NFL podcasts Matt Money Smith who, before he was a huge sports broadcaster He had a whole other pass career in the music business I as an executive for dreamworks, and then as the creative director of. In Los, Angeles, which is the most legendary FM radio station in the history of rock and roll, and we had met money on the show. He picked one year from his time there. Two thousand four, and we went through a bunch of songs, and the that comment was alluding to money. Backstage at a life house concert, remember the. Moment guys and money openly trying to corrupt the the Christian lead singer. And failing to do so very enlightening. Top from Matt Money Smith I. WanNa hear it, but when I hear, you say if you're GONNA listen to one episode I mean multiple people that you're speaking right now. Appearing on the show solid fees, a handful of episodes you could look at. That would be one of them. I kind of walked into that. He's saying. He's a pro. We're not I get it. You're all pros, but it was kind of fascinating. It's a podcast I would listen to. Even if I wasn't on, it anyway. Check that out throwback podcast. Let's get into the and thank you Matt Money Smith for giving your time. That was a lot of fun. Let's get into it. Yes Jamal Adams. Jamal Adams pro bowl all pro safety for the New York. Jets has been moved to the Seattle seahawks in mega-trade mega trade. What? Defines a mega trade. Two first round picks going back to the jets twenty, twenty, one and twenty, twenty two, also a third round pick goes to the jets. The jets send Adams a twenty twenty two fourth rounder to the SEAHAWKS, Bradley macdougald, starting safety for seahawks also goes to the jets in the trade. It is a massive deal on. It's a big story from both sides. Let's start on the Seattle side. A Greg because. Yes the jets! Tons of drama tied in with that organization with this podcast all that stuff for the seahawks. It is stunning. move by them both in how much they gave up and how they seem to position themselves right now with a trade this, we are super. Bowl contender winning now. Do you think atoms can put them over the Hump? No but I I. Think they're always win. Nemoto to answer your question. I think I. think that's the way to be, but I think they are always think that they can compete for a championship I. Don't even the last couple of years where they they have taken a step back. I don't think they've entered the season thinking anything less than we could win the NFC if we can pull this off like we're in Russell. Wilson's prime and it was stunning in terms of what they gave up. In. Terms of the two first round picks that they basically got a very similar trade. Then, the Tunsil or the Khalil Mack Trade in, and so that's that's great for the jets. But if you were GONNA pick one team in the NFL. That would give up that kind of a draft. Pick capital to get Jamal Adams. would be near the top list because they've shown us that. They are gonNA be aggressive that they view these picks a little differently than some other teams not only did they trade him away all the time like for Percy Harbin, but they also take bizarre picks that no one wanted until the third round. Pick and I think they know that, and so they view it a little differently like. The guys that we want are going to be available in the second or third round so. On some level the fact that it was Seattle. Of, all teams to me doesn't shock me because they have a an align G. GM and coaching staff who willing to go for it, and they haven't spent that kind of capital in the secondary, but I do think that can be excited about the secondary I think they. They thought that was going to be a strength of the team before they got tomorrow. Adams that that was the best part of their defense. And now they got Demain Adams, and and Pete Carroll I think in his in his. Biggest wishes thinks okay. Maybe we can run back Legion of boom to here I. Like the guys that we have back there. Let's fly. I think you're so right philosophically that they've. Taken five players in the top forty five picks in the draft since two thousand fourteen. They're just not using. They're not wed. two first round picks the way that the others are their trade bait and leverage, and they've been in win now mode for a decade I look I think if you look at their caps situation to and it's. We're in a weird time with the CAP, obviously there about twenty six in cap space, heading into next season, and you've paid body Wagner and you paid Russell Wilson, so you're going to have to pay Jamal Adams and there was an interesting bit of news there Dan on that situation, but They have the ability to extend his career in Seattle for awhile. He's going to play under the terms of his rookie deal this season, which is something. He was steadfast that he did not want to do with the jets. He tells the seahawks Jamal Adams that he's okay with that, and then let's get business done. Next year which is interesting to me I think it's these deals, and there are very few of them at this level. In fact, I believe there's only been. around five trades in the last twenty years that involved two first round picks. They and this is the biggest one I think even better. Risk. Of teams on rookie contracts in the last five years. It's TUNSIL MAC right. I'm forgetting the third one up at the Jalen..

"If you have the cash, so if you're confident drafting ability, top three round picks should should emerge starters, so you're looking at two ones and three. That's three potential starters. You can get on a low low money deal. Low first round as well as is in the third round, so. Chances spread those resources around. Try and build up the base of your roster. I WANNA. Get to the value of Jamal specifically. One thing one thing free to this because I. Think you also should address the elephant in the room. Sam Darnold can't is eligible for an extension at the end of this year, and so when Sam Darnold goes from being on a ricky deal too big money, it is even more important to have cheap starters that are those those deals, or whatever, so it's really important that we give perspective and context. He can sign a contract at the end of this year, and so when you, the jets, you have to weigh the new money. They will go to Sam darnold direction. We have to make sure we have. A way to make sure that we can take care of that and also have stars before you go to Jamal. Adams values well. That's true. Jamal Adams value when we have that discussion book. This is because if you look at it on paper. While just pose the question. I won't muddy it up. I want to get your thoughts on. What how much value do you have in a pass rushing safety? See! I HAVE A in my value is skewed in my value is skewed because when I go back to a player. The team that ended eventually went to play a super bowl. The safety that we had the Roy Butler the rare butler, was the first hybrid safety in the National Football League Fish Shurmur dropped him in the box, and he blitz to the tune of having six sacks five interceptions. He was a key port of what we did. Defensively so I value the safety position particularly in the box a little. Little differently than than some, and then most and I also think because John Snyder was pro personnel assistant. During that time he may see value in that position a little differently particularly when you have peak Carroll's Defense Kam Chancellor that played a vital role. Generally, the safety is in value like that but I. still kind of have an old school mentality that you build all championship Teams Basketball Baseball football yet to be strong down the middle, and so the safety is core piece when it comes to being down the middle. How do you address the fact that it doesn't take the ball away? So. Like so I think it's important. It's kind of like going to the ice cream shop. When you look at safeties, there are two different types there. Your Ball Hawks in the there. You're in the box playmakers. The Bra would be the guy that you're very familiar with have been in Baltimore in AD. Read it. Read is the the Star on the top the Christmas tree. He plays deep middle. He is the guy that rolls from numbers numbers and makes a ton of place Jamal Adams would be like the guy who was the opposite of Ed. Reed Doing Idrees era, and there's hall of Famer Troy Paulo Model now. Call Jamal Adams a hall of Famer yet, but I think there are some things to repel. Ahmadu did his damage in around the box. He was a guy that would make plays create fumbles sack quarterback. Do things to that in I..

"A mission man all in on winning the Super Bowl being the best leader teammate he can be. An a man who will give everything he has to the city of Seattle and the twelve all across the world. Thank you for believing in me. Well, the seahawks were getting it all round playmaker Jamal Adams, according to NFL next Gen stats entering the league in two thousand Seventeen Adams, ranks fourth among say peace and completion percentage allowed as the nearest offender. He's recorded the pressure on. Excuse me forty seven plays the most by any defensive back, and he has thirty three run stops tied for second amongst the DB's. Bigger. The easy thing is to say the seahawks getting all pro, but dig deeper. Tell me more. What Kinda player! Are they truly getting in this trade? Well he's a difference maker. A guy that can can affect the game in a myriad of ways people look at this and they say well. He's just the safety guy that's going to play in the middle of the field or God is going to come down. No, you're getting. A playmaker got took and putting the box and say okay. He can play like a linebacker because he could snuff. The Ron may attack in the backfield and affect the running game. Okay well. What else can you do? How can you change that? You can stick him in pass coverage and put him up against the tight end. We've seen him go. Against Rob Gronkowski one on one thing about the great tight ends in this. League Kelsey kiddle. Sometimes you've got line and put safety up against them one on one. So what do you have a player that can play the run, but But you can stick him in coverage against some of the better athletic hybrid tidy is that we have been asleep in Oh by the way if you need somebody to get after the quarterback, don't we all remember display of USTA giants? The blitz come in the sack, fumble and the touchdown the head free so there are people around the league that are looking at this and they're going to say. You traded what for safety. Here's the way I would ask them to look at this Euphrates. Playmaker and the National Football League I. Don't Care What position you play whether your punter whether you're running back a wide receiver. If you are a playmaker, you can't affect the game and when you look at Seattle in where they are, and normally, they picked between twenty, three, twenty, five, the last five years I, trading away to ones for a can be a playmaker. Your team and you have your franchise. Franchise quarterback to go along with Jay Wright Bobby Wagner. This team is set to make another run deep into the postseason this year and I think it's one hell of but free for John. Snyder, pekair shadow to play making punters everywhere Johnny Hecker. The Rams I'm looking at you all right, so we know we're. boettger feels about this one, but jeff is Jamal Adams worth basically two first round picks. No Listen I. He is a baller I have no I have no issue. What will Seattle Defense? The better boomer just laid out perfect absolute. They will be better with Jamal Adams on the football field. There is no doubt in my mind, but do you give away that not only can you give away too I? Do give away a good player who is in your back starting the last two years and swap up all these by the way we gotta go pay him. He's got to get a contract done right. He's got this year. But he was with the jets. The issue was his contract. You still have to get that. So what are we talking about? Salary cap? Wise now you look at the seahawks go. Does this guy get us over the edge as a super bowl contender? Reason I say the answer is no is because your offense and defensive lines have struggled. You haven't struggled inexpensive backfield. You haven't struggled with your quarterback to what he was just saying. You know you've got superman back there. Let's help them. Let's help him be a better player. Let me so when you're looking at it I think he's a heck of a ball player. Absolutely the rate playmaker absolutely would give up, but they gave up to get him regardless of position. This is where on an organization they have other. T V were more pressing a safety flash. Whatever playmaker you have on the back. Can't put points on the board. Here's the bottom line I. think that in totality over season they outscored their opponents seven point seven thing about Baltimore Kansas City. San Francisco all the teams that. When you talk about superbowl contenders, they score a whole lot more points than the other guy. You got to score points in this league right now. It's great to have a good safety back near her. Thinking the game. Ultimately, he does not put them over the edge on a super bowl contender. In their. Diana thought you had something to add, but we'll keep moving forward then. Feel feel like did I. Appreciate that you saw my face just staring at a jeff and and I'm I'm agreeing with with justice saying, but also going back to a burger was talking about you. Know Jamal just being an incredible player that Swiss army knife we know, the kind of defense saint played in New York. They played a lot of man, which allowed Jamal Adams to blitz as much as he did. We know Seattle plays a lot cover. Three I don't know if they're going to be blitzing him as much as we saw them do that in New York, so a lot of his success. Had Credit to do with Greg Williams in the scheme that worked for him in New York but in terms of putting Seattle over the judy now become the favourite in that division while Jamaluddin, surly makes an immediate impact. I don't think he's the piece that puts them into that conversation of contender for the super. Bowl Really, interesting here so I'm going to get right back in this book because I feel like you're on an island now. I I don't mind dealing an island Gilligan was on island. Fair pretty well so did. CASTAWAY! His now say in order to win you division. You're going to have to get through the forty niners, because I think going to be Seattle in the forty nine division. And what does the forty niners do well? They run the football lineup. Come at you the Seattle, seahawks struggle stopping to run so now you have a sacred. It can be a playmaker stopping. Stopping the run I. Understand the value and putting them over the top. The Seattle seahawks aren't there for all. They were within one play of having homefield advantage in the postseason against a forty niners, so imagine if they get there and everybody's gotta come through Seattle those twelve I understand. He doesn't put points on the board, but he sure as hell can take. Off, the Boards Jeff Saturday and feel let me say there. People are gonNA. People are going to figure this out who won the frayed did Seattle when the trade or did the twin the tree feel? I got traded for I got traded to the Indianapolis. Colts with my man Jeff Saturday the coats in a second round. Pick Tampa Bay for old book. You know who to the bucks trade took with second round. Pick Savvy Piscotty Kelly. Do you know what this could tell he is? He's wrestling somewhere and nobody's heard from him. Think that the Indianapolis Colts one then freight so. We don't know who won the trae until Joe Douglas Mixed those first round picks, but sometimes you can get a player that can make an impact, and just even a nose tackle made an impact in indy, and we won a super bowl, so let's see what Jamal Adams can do for the Seattle seahawks anytime. You're able to good. What do you got strength? Best Trae we ever made man. Hey, floors. You're a man, boone. We ever pay. Put us over the top maybe. Talk all you guys need to do is reminisce about winning. Super Bowls together next thing you know you see everything I want to get. New York Jets trade Jamal Adams to Seattle Seahawks

"News this weekend, of course, was the Jets finally trading Jamal Adams for Ah, bunch of draft picks and another safety use 29 years old, sort of a journeymen but ah, serviceable player. I have a friend, a couple of columnist. National columnists who think that Seattle got the better of this deal. What are your thoughts? Well, I I think it's a rare situation where both teams Win the trade. I mean, almost everybody involved winds. Destrade. Because Jamal Adam's got what he wanted. The jet's got something back from a player who, very obviously no longer had any interest in being here and was going to do anything he could To make the Jets miserable if they kept him and Seahawks get an impact player of who could help them contend for school. Obviously, they think there they're close to contending and Jamal is a kind of a special player where He may be able to do more than other safety's do so. I think You could make an argument for anybody wanting this trade, but I think if you look at it from the jet standpoint For them to get this kind of compensation for guy who just wanted no part of being here. Get to first round picks. I don't think many people saw that happening. And from that standpoint, it's a win for the Jets.

Adams says Gase not the right leader for New York Jets

"A day that the NFL play association border representatives approved a plan they'll have NFL training camps opened a schedule next week. Jamal Adam said Bush step aside like from the movie pulp Fiction by putting out and it all came out in an interview with mini smelt of the New York Daily News the same day he called out The brain Trust of the Jets would be a clear clear understatement, Norman that NFL news like this happens when it votes like training camps are going to start on time. Even this covert 19 times. You don't usually move that off the top Gemma Adams and interview said about coach Adam Gates and I quote I don't feel like he's the right leader for this organization to reach the promised land. As a leader really bothers me is that he does not have a relationship with everybody in the building. He didn't stop there. He also said at the end of the day Gaze does not address the team. If there's a problem in the locker room, he lets another coach address the team and we're playing like blank, and we're losing. He does not address the entire team as a group at halftime. He'll walk out of the locker room and let another coach handle it. End quote. That last part Freddy Ahh, Alice in the New York Daily News with with, you know, a guy who's been on a regular the showman Ismet up, but That last one, but that's not true. Somebody. "The jets. Lots of activity in the past twenty four hours on NFL, players owners attempts to finalize an agreement on the rules and Finances of the twenty NFL season NFL. Owners had a scheduled conference call today at one thirty, PM EASTERN WITH GM's teams team, presidents and head coaches that according to our Adam schefter and sources also told ESPN that the NFL as board of player representatives has a call scheduled for three thirty PM eastern plan in that call is to take a vote on the latest proposal. Also all players call scheduled for six. PM Eastern so of calls today sources said last night. The sides were still negotiating on A. A negotiating on at least three key points, the rules for the training camp acclimation period procedures via which players could opt out of the season for Corona, virus related reasons what would happen to their contracts if they do and how to handle the league's long-term finances, basically, how future year's salary caps will be affected due to the projected twenty twenty revenue loss that will come as a result of games, being played an empty stadiums or possibly canceled games. If that's what happened, so jeff a lot of activity today feels like things might be building toward a conclusion. What are you hearing? Where do you think this is all headed? I should be asking you that. Dan You know everything that's going on right now, but I'll still go ahead and tell you what I know. I the way I see it and you can tell me if you feel differently. But all of the other language whether it's the opt out, or the acclimation period feels to me, tied more importantly to the financial aspect of how to deal with the revenue losses of twenty twenty. I think from the conversations I've had if they can get past that point the rest fall into place to me. The opt out in the acclimation period are sort of being. Almost held as potential leverage points. If one person wants to pull a threat or give a little here, but to me, it still feels like that financial impact is the imperative point here if they can get past that today, I think that we will start training camp on time if not. I don't know there's going to be at some tough decisions to be made by players in the next twenty four hours I think you're right. I think it seems like people didn't want to get to a point where anything sort of remotely health and safety related was tied to the big picture financial issue, but I guess that turned out to be unavoidable, but yeah, so people understand what's going on is the League is projecting significant revenue loss for this year as a result of covid nineteen. Because of the salary cap is tied to revenues so next year salary cap would drop as a result of that, and so they're trying to figure out how to read those losses out over a number of years three years four years five years. That's where the agreement has to come, and it could come possibly as early as today some optimism on both sides from what I was told this morning. So. And then, also, when you mentioned the the the salary cap, and figuring out how they kind of take the hit from this year, the owners still really wanting to see the players take some of that hit in this season. The players saying we have a ten year. CBA WE RE to let's extended out. Of that and that way, we're kind of not taking huge hits here. A It seems like they'll find the middle ground. There feels like the obvious compromises. Maybe cut the difference in half and say we spread over the next five years so again. At least one executive told me in. This is the big difference between the NFL and Major League Baseball had a lot of issues. At least the NFL has ten years of labor peace. They just agreed to. It gives them a lot more. More flexibility to figure out how they can manage the revenue losses this year so I think that that's a good sign. This executive also predicted that this would get done by late July early. August feels like we're right on par where we are, so we'll see where this is headed with Texans. And chiefs players scheduled report this weekend in the meantime. S- talk about the Seattle seahawks made the playoffs as a wildcard team last year and loss to the packers in the divisional round. They lost some key pieces this off season. One of those was Judean Clowney, but he's still remains a free agent so I guess technically he could still come back led the seahawks forty one quarterback pressures last year on on offense, the seahawks signed veteran tight end Greg Olsen to a one year deal. Olsen enters the twenty twenty season with the fifth most receiving yards for tight end in NFL history earlier this week. He spoke to our Diana Rossini. Joining us now, Greg also the veteran tight end. WHO's hauled in fifty nine? Racked up over eight thousand yards in his fourteen year career off the field, he's taking on the role of podcast host for his new show. T one that's GONNA launch on August Eleven, so greg you take a look back at your career for eleven years. You're essentially in the same system. Right in Chicago, Bit Carolina same language. You're in that digit system. That's not Seattle at all. So what's been the best way at someone with your experience at your age? How are you learning this Seattle playbook? I got my notebooks full of things where I've, I'm kind of playing like translator I mean it's really like learning a new language. It's the same plays. Everyone runs the same concepts. Maybe Depths of routes in landmarks might be a little different here and there, but it's just what Seattle calls it. What I've called it for years is just completely different. Your former teammate and quarterback Cam Newton is is doing the same thing. Out New England learning all the new language in ways that they're going to do it the Patriot. Way What don't you envy about what he's dealing with their? Yeah. It's a different animal for quarterback knowing Cam for as long as I have. He's going to get in there. I'm sure he already has. I've seen in working with the handful of guys already the one thing about cameras. He'll be ready. He's GonNa know what he's doing and he it'd be able to play and compete at eye level he he has a lot of pride carries a big chip on a shoulder I'm sure this year it's. Even bigger with the way everything has gone down with his departure from Carolina, so I couldn't be happier for him. He's be fine. He's got lots of time to learn everything. Russell Wilson like. Think that he gets enough credit. For the type of quarterback he is. I saw a stat before then I. Don't know if I ever stop to realize that he's never received one MVP vote and. I don't know why I never stopped to think about it, but I just that blows my mind I, mean I? I always had appreciation and understanding of just how good he wasn't what he meant. The organization from the of the opposing side line. I'm not sure people quite realize just how vital he is to the success of this team and consistency that they've had. He's had is is really unheard of asleep. Free personally and you had that foot injury two years ago. You kept giving updates over the last few years to that. You're getting better that you're close to one hundred percent so so right now. Few days out of training camp in terms of your health. Want somebody else this is the this is the best physically that I've been. Probably since going into two thousand seventeen, I know I'm older and what not but. I feel no different than I did five six years ago and I and I. Know guys say that every year I'm in the best shape of my life most of the time they're full of it but I. Honestly believe in the last couple of years for a lot of reasons, I just wasn't able to physically be able to run and drive and change. Direction that I that I need to play at a high level and this year. I can't and I've been able to do it now for a long time. We know once. He decide to step away from football. "To try and talk his way out of town. Will he succeed plus new seahawks? Tight End Greg? Olsen sat down with our Diana Racine this week to discuss what it will be like the play with Russell Wilson in Seattle and meetings are currently underway with NFL owners. GM's and coaches to update everyone on the state of discussions with the NFL PA. We will get you up to date as information comes in. Hello and welcome to NFL. Live on this Friday with Louis. Riddick Rob nickel-rich and Jeff. Darlington I am Dan Grazziano. We have lots to get to them. We're GONNA start in New York where the rocky relationship between the jets and safety Jamal Adams Continues Adam's. In case you haven't heard requested a trade last month because he's frustrated that the jets have not yet signed into a long term contract. Jets first round pick in two thousand seventeen. Adams has two years and thirteen point five million dollars, remaining on his rookie contract in an interview with the daily news was published today Adams, says jets GM Joe Douglas is still willing to trade him under the right circumstances, but has yet to give Adams side permission to seek out a potential deal. Regarding Douglas. Tactics during this off season. Adams told the New York daily. News. Why would joe come out and say? We want to make Jamal again for life. Why would you say that and then not even give me an often? Don't bs me. I'm a straightforward guy. You don't have to be asked me because I'm going to keep it honest. Lewis obviously straightforward guy, and obviously a guy that wants out and doing everything. He can to make that happen with two years left on the deal if you're the team, how are you handling this? The first and foremost Dan looked. A relationship guy especially when it comes to professional sports, and the importance of that is something that I have stressed repeatedly on the airways here at ESPN so I think you know first and foremost right now if I'm Joe, Douglas, I'm going to Jamal Adams and quite honestly I'm kind of eating some humble pie rather I'm just I'm just kind of taking A. A step back I. I'm saying this. Okay? Where where did this thing go wrong? Because you're a guy, who a franchise pillar you're, you're one of our very best, if not our very best player. How did I somehow breach your trust? How did I lose your trust? And what can we do to kind of try and patch this thing up and it's. Someone who would be? Willing to do that then obviously I'd be looking to try and see. I could get fair market value for them, but if not autism, not going to give away the asset and give away the player given how good he is, but I think trying to repair that relationship is something that I would absolutely prioritize because look when players get ticked off and someone of Jamal Adams character when he came out of Lsu, no one talked about him being troublemaker. No one talked about him being a guy who who quickly would become a malcontent talked about him being. Being a bad locker guy because he's not that person so I would really try to figure out. Where did I go wrong? And if I'm Adam Gates and I'm Joe Douglas Together I'm trying to figure out. How did we lose the confidence and trust of one of our best players? Why are why is one of our best players? This dragging us now publicly? Obviously, we've done something. Really tick him off. It's more than just losing football games. There's something wrong here. Something wrong here operationally that maybe we need to readjust reevaluate because the players just don't do. Players like Jamal Adams just don't do this kind of thing unless they really feel as though they were wrong in some way, and if you think the GM was Adams only targeting that interview, you would be wrong, because here's what he had to say about. Head coach Adam geese quote I don't feel like he's the right leader for this organization to reach the Promised Land as a leader. What really bothers me is that he doesn't have a relationship with everybody in the building. At the end of the day, he doesn't address the team. There's a problem in the locker room. He lets another coach address the team. If we're playing, shabbily says and we're losing doesn't address the entire team as a group at halftime, a walk out of the Locker Room and let another coach handle it so rob. Let's pretend for a minute that you're a player on the new, York jets Jamal Adams teammate with Adam cases your head coach. You're all showing up for training camp next week. How is this playing in the locker room? Little Bit Awkward I mean, Look. You have two years left on your contract understand. You're trying to get a new contract It doesn't seem the right way about going to get a new contract is to start burning bridges, and and calling out your head coach in the GM and how they're not handling or giving you a contract. Look, I can understand as a player when you have tears left on a contract, you see other guys from your same draft class right now. Getting paid substantial amount of money and you're not. Not Getting an offer, I could see other. It'd be frustration, but you know calling up the head, coach and guys that that can give you a contract I. Don't know if that's the best route to go. Especially when trying to build something in New York and look the jets have struggled for a while. They're trying to change things and be a better team, so call it out the head coach and the GM I don't think that's the best route to go. If you're trying to get a new contract, that's for sure. Well look I also sort of side with Louis here I. Think there's a lot of lapses in communication occurring, and let's be very clear about this. Do we really think that this is about? Adam gays leadership. Yes, that might be an issue for Jamal Adams. Adams got the contract offered. E believes he covets. You don't think that he'd be back in that building. Singing the praises about him case. That's what this is about. This is about money at this point, and it's also about the personal touch that have not occurred the jet side to sort of mitigate the issue. One thing that needs to be remembered gear about Jamal. And I'm not saying that. This has all everything to do with what's going on here. Put your malls debt. NFL Early Eighties Georgia and he got drafted by the giants, and he never ultimately got paid, because he suffered an injury after having a pretty solid season and was never the same. This is very personal to Jamal that. He wants to make sure he gets paid. Paid because he knows it can all be taken away from you in a second, so there's this human element to all of this and I think to Lewis's point you really if you're the jets organization, need to sit down and say. How do we make this right with the person and not just treat him like a commodity who has two years remaining on his contract so? Solvable! It doesn't feel like it to be at this point, but I think that there is some work to be done here. So, what do you think happens? If you say it's not salvageable at this point that he ends up getting traded. I don't know because again. Here's the problem. We've got two years remaining on his contract. It's going to take a team giving up huge compensation to really convince Joe. Douglas, and Adam that makes sense kind of like what happened with Ramsey with the rams, and honestly, in retrospect that didn't make that much sense because they didn't get the long term deal done with him. You've got to give huge draft compensation and also pay him a huge number. There's not many teams that are willing to do that, so I don't know. How this ends, it's a very uncomfortable situation. It will be very awkward in the Locker Room and to me it feels like Jamal Adams is deliberately trying to create a distraction so that he can force his way out I just think that this jets brass is a little bit too stubborn to go for something like that. And See, that's the thing that's very frustrating for me Jeff. Is this you know when when you say that this is too stubborn. I mean like. What what kind of CACHET? Stubborn about anything I mean. What have they done? Then? Look Rob I'll speak. On your behalf and I don't mean to speak for you, but look you you play for the new. England patriots, so look what a team comes at you from their position from and having accomplished what they've accomplished the then players a lot more likely to kind of sit there and go well elk look, maybe I need to back down a little bit from some of the kind of demands and Kinda the tech that some trying to use to get a contract extension from you, because we've. Done things the right way here. We have a very linear. Organizational structure where people understand how things work. The communication is pretty much straightforward, and we understand where where we stand in the pecking order at all.

"It's really unfortunate because the fan base loves them. The team actually does love him. He's playing under a certain financial circumstance that you know look when you're drafted high in the draft like he was. There are certain steps that you have to go through now. Here's the one thing I will say. Whether he is really truly committed to forcing the jets to trade him. You know we'll find out because I this also maybe a away for the jets just end up paying just. Just the perception of the whole thing we're GonNa pay you. You're going to be the highest paid safety. We're all this guaranteed money and you're going to be with the jets and Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah, and you know given what Jamal Adams said yesterday if he now signs a contract with the jets, just total fraud. Total. Fraud Right Yep, so yeah, I mean. Let's if this is about not playing for this organization. Let's see I. I don't know what the jets are. GonNa do I. Don't know what the negotiations have been like, but I would love to see them. Put in front of him. The richest contract that a safety has ever seen the see if he sticks to his guns or not, that would be a great call of the bluff. It really would be going to be I mean if he signs it. He's going to get crushed by a lot of people because he's just full of Baloney. I haven't said that in a long time. Baloney! Thinking about this and you know our our co worker Joe Beningo God love them. You have this what he? Johnson Jamal Adams thing now. You have the stroman injury syndergaard injury, and it's the medicine, the jets and here we go, we want one's getting ready to start the season. Fan Too but I mean. How many more hits to the head. Can you take well if you're Joe Beningo and you are a dyed-in-the-wool jet and met fan well. At least he's got the knicks right. "They were poor. I saw a lot of that stuff yesterday. In multiple tweets. First of all the dodgers are never going to be poor there the dodgers you look at their TV deal. It is astronomical and they've been winning that. Nobody ever thought that the L.. A. Dodgers were going to have financial issues, and then also on top of it. They're not handing. mookie Betts three hundred sixty five million dollars tomorrow. I mean they're going to pay him sixty five. Five million, okay, but not three hundred sixty five million dollars, and that's different, and you start to think about the health of the sport and the health of the franchise as we get back into more normal baseball seasons, and he's going to be worth every penny, so yeah, it was a Lotta money that he was handed, but it's the dodgers, and that's what we expect. We never thought when this thing was going on. Even though the Yankees have been taking hits. Hits. There's no doubt about everything's been taken a hit. We never thought the Yankees. We're going to go in the red. They weren't going to go under. I mean they've been able to take care of their employees. For the most part as far as we know, they've done a great job through because the Yankees and the dodgers are are not that far behind where the Yankees are as far as the health of a franchise, so it just I don't know. When things crop up like that the residual effect from the Players Association and Major League Baseball's fight when you see contracts like this. It's the fact. Still remain baseball players. Association would be happy about a contract is. Given the the circumstances one hundred percent. It's like now now. Here's another interesting when you start talking about contracts and start talking about leverage. Start talking about you know. What does the team going to do with a particular player? Well our Guy Jamal Adams basically had something handed to him on a silver platter yesterday, so if he doesn't WanNA play for the New, York jets and he wants to. Use, what is happening over Great Britain in regards to A. Investigation to ambassador Woody Johnson in comments that he's supposedly made which he is obviously come out and denied putting quarter, according to Jamal everything that Woody Johnson said or has been accused of saying, he said. Basically, he is just say yeah, he's guilty. We gotta get rid of, them. This is like a thing that the jets did not want to have to deal with and especially under the current circumstances of the political landscape with in sports and player as. Deemed as he sees himself as a running lot as a player so. You now have a `nother situation that the jets have got the deal with and whether or not. Bomb shows up for training camp. Who knows and when he does show up. It is going to be awfully awkward. Given his comments yesterday. Yeah, so a couple of things one. You're right. We these are these are allegations that were made against what he Johnson as we have found out before you know rushing to judgment on whether or not something happened or didn't happen isn't smart if he did say it. Everybody knows that that's not breaking news. We all know that everybody shares that opinion. If Forty Johnson indeed said those things. That's really really bad, and you'll have to suffer the consequences of that now as far as Jamal Adams goes as Jamal. Adams ever dealt with Woody Johnson has ever even been around what he Johnson's been around, and who has been there Christopher. Johnson has gone out of his way to make Jabali Adams comfortable every frigging turn, and I know that to be a fact now you WanNa complain about Christopher Johnson's ability to run a franchise, and how the Johnsons on their tenures jets owner is not been great. Sure we can have that discussion, but as it pertains to. Jamal Adams. I know for a fact that Christopher. Johnson has tried his best to make him as comfortable as possible Nelson me appreciates him. All the time reached out during that trade deadline. Personally Multiple Times come up to my office. Let's talk. Let's figure this out. He has been there at every turn to make this guy feel wanted loved everything else because he does indeed care about him deeply wants him to be a jet. So that's the thing that pissed me off a lot about this now. What he? Johnson will put that aside I think that's. That's a totally different thing, but here's Jamal. Adams acting as if like woody Johnson was around him, didn't care about him has been terrible owner for the jets wall. Jamal Adams has been there when the reality is Jamal Adams, and what he I don't even know if they've ever spoken to one another day. Probably have been I'm sure what he's been over there. At some point over the last two years, but really Christopher Johnson has been the guy who's been dealing with consent, and has been bending over backwards for a lot of different people and. Try to reveal the franchise, and hopefully doing it the right way, and getting the right people in there running including Joe Douglas. But you knew you knew that you knew the second. That story came out his twitter. Account what he said about it. Yeah, exactly yeah, and he just and. He probably. I don't want. I shouldn't assume but I let's just say this. I! It's not far fetched to think that Jamal Adams was pleased when he saw this story percents because it helped his cause now. I'm not saying he's not offended by the things that were said in there and upset by that, but also I. It's not far fetched to think that he goes. Wow, this is just another thing that's going to help me get out of here. Because how could I possibly play for an organization? That's got a guy associated. It's going to say those things so I, mean I. Don't know I. I'm not in any way defending woody. Johnson of what he said was true, but it's just the reality is true. We don't know. He actually came out tonight. Every put out a statement, so so so did the jets. We also have to understand that we are in a presidential election year woody Johnson happens to be one of the bigger supporters for Donald Trump financially. That's why he's got that job that he has right now. They they also. Were claiming last week that Woody Johnson supposedly putting pressure on the British government to force them or not the not the force them, but try to direct them towards one of Donald. Trump's golf courses over there in Britain, so they could have the open championship there, so all of that stuff is coming now because we're living in a sewer pit of a society that is just absolutely trying to take everybody down, and and it's. It's all now coming together and Jamal Adams season opportunity to get the hell out of here again. Jet Fan Loves Jamal Adams Jet Fan thinks that he's a great player. Christopher Johnson, who has not been accused of anything loves Jamal Adams Right. Joe Douglas and so does the Adam Gates? Jamaa Adams is manufactured this whole thing in his brain and to me..

Grin thinks better now he doesn't he should. I'm not saying that he shouldn't. You're thinking mayock and other people I'm thinking. Yeah, and I'm just thinking. There's every single team goes into the year thinking. Hey that we can do it. If things fall right for us, we can do it we can. We can upset a couple teams. We can have some injuries and two other teams in the League maybe right there, but you also have to. You have to understand where you are there. Teams are and you have to look and say okay, you know if we make this trade, wh, you know whereas our first round. PICK GONNA be. Are we giving up a very early pick? Are we going to be one of the ten worst teams in the League and give a top ten pick or do? We think we are going to be you know a deep run in the? The playoffs and we're giving up like twenty seven or twenty eight th pick. That is a huge difference when you start to make these anonymization, so you know every team thinks they're going to be good everything things are going to contender. What really are you and you have to analyze that? When you make these kind of deals and listen, I think the raiders are a team that in two wildcard right? Yeah, I think in two years. That's team there. They're going to be very upset that a lot of young players a lot of. Of Young talent, everything is coming along how they wanted to a new a new stadium where people are gonNA WANNA come sign here. all those things are going in the right direction, but you have to be honest about where you are this year and I don't think I don't think they believe they're Jamal Adams away from winning listening right right fair enough There's your raiders fix. Let's get into something far more important and my fascination with you because I don't know half the time I get a lot of people saying does..

"Week so special remains our top priority. Said David Baker. President and CEO of the pro football hall of fame. The hall will honor the Centennial Class of two thousand and twenty next August along with what promises to be an equally spectacular class of two thousand and twenty, one as part of a multi day celebration of football with an atmosphere that will deliver for fans twice the fun in Twenty One I'm. I'm reading this literally. I think that that is like the tagline twice the fun in twenty one. So I, guess anything about that. Prepare for Steph to be day next year, but anyway. So that was a big piece of news on Thursday no hall of fame game for the cowboys, obviously, and as a result, no extra time we found out late Wednesday before Thursday's episode of the Ocho went up, but after we had recorded that all NFL teams were scheduled to report to their training camp situations on July twenty eighth. That's about a month from now. We'll see what happens there. Obviously other sports are being played as mentioned but yeah. A lot can happen the next month. Right I mean. Hopefully it's all good in in terms of you know in that respect, a lot can happen. RIGHT HIM IN NFL teams, Getting Ready to report in Prescott on his has deal so Dak. Day is in the middle of that, but. The other big thing. From Thursday. wrote about this as well blogging, the boys DOT COM. You can check that out perusing the Internet. Surfing the web on Thursday I saw a report from pro football network. Tony Pauline does great work over there. And fell insider and This was an article about Jamal Adams and kind of the latest buzz latest rumors in terms of what's going on with Jamal Adams so again. This is according to Tony Pauline from pro football network. I'll just read it to you, and then we can discuss. Right now, it appears that the Dallas cowboys may be a logical landing spot for Adams. Talking about Jamal Adams due to his desire to be traded there, and because they are to have an affection for atoms, but even better, the jets may be willing to do business with the cow, because they covered a player on their offensive line. Pauline said I'm told right now that the player the jets would ask for in a trade for Adams would be right. Tackle Lyle Collins. That's the player that they want. Yeah Yeah. All Collins. No, thank you all right look. Jamal Adams is awesome. It would be awesome for the Dallas cowboys to trade for Jamal Adams. That would be awesome. I'm GonNa say it again. It would be awesome for the Dallas. Cowboys to trade for Jamal Adams, but you know what all right we we've had this discussion on twitter. At blog on the boys. Follow us. They're blogging dot. The DOT boys on Instagram. Trading Michael Gallup four Jamal Adams is ridiculous that anyone would even suggest it is ridiculous trading lyle. Collins is utterly ridiculous and I'm not trying to say I'm not trying to value lyle over Gallup, or one way or the other, but the suggestion of either one of them is ridiculous. Here's the thing well. Call Him signed a contract extension with the Dallas cowboys last year. He has no guaranteed money on his contract. After this year, the contract is a dream are just in general, the contractors a dream when you factor in the fact that he is one of the best tackles overall in the NFL it. It is an even larger dream. When you factor in the, he's so far under thirty. It isn't even larger dream when you factor in the fact that the guy you would be trading collins for Jamal Adams as awesome as he is, is somebody that you would then have to pay in the very near interim future? No, thank you all right look. It would be I'M GONNA. Say It in case you didn't get it. The first six times awesome at the COBB was traded for Jamal Adams, but the idea of trading away. Lyle Collins are Michael Gallup utterly ridiculous and these offers assuming they're real or That offers these discussions. Assuming they're real, really just kinda show. How ridiculous! The New York jets are being. If you remember, we wrote about this back then back in early November late October of last year, the jets reportedly wanted either tarrant Smith or Zach Martin in Jamal. Adams trades discussions. Phil what what are you talking about? You know let's let's be real here. You know what I mean. Again according to reports back then this was the reports report the best offer. The Dallas cowboys made was a first round. Pick Andy, Brown now. It's worth mentioning. The cowboys would go on to resign Anthony Brown in free agency this off season, and that first-round pick would go onto CD lamb. The offensive player taken seventeenth overall the year over title. ETC, etc, etc no way Jose all right. No way no way. We ran a poll on this in on the site in the article about this and there were people that said they would do this if you would trade lyle collins for Jamal Adams. You need to reevaluate because there's no way that that makes sense. And, again it might just show how you know because like that's the thing, right? It's like. Yeah. We'll trade you Benvenuti for von. Miller you know what I mean like. You just say that kind of stuff. It's kind of like in your fantasy league. When somebody's being ridiculous you, you throw it a true that you know. We'll just get him to stop talking I. Hope that that's what that what that is goodness. I can't even say it anymore. I hope that that's what this is because that would be far better. At least from a how much we respect the New York jets perspective than if they actually thought this was possible or made sense but it is. It is what it is as they say. Got, a fun at rest of the week for you. Start to you. We've gone on the blog on the boys. "You are a fan of Liverpool football club congratulations to you. That's right. Liverpool getting the DUB on. On Thursday although they didn't really good dub. DUB But Manchester City did not get the DUB which means that Liverpool are champions of England. had been a long time since ever pool Wanda top-flight in England. In fact, it'd been thirty years nineteen ninety the last time that Liverpool. Where we're kings of England and so very cool, honestly I'm a Manchester United Guy, but it is very cool in sports when teams can end really long dry odds, and you get to kind of see the emotions, fans and whatnot have hopefully that something that. The Dallas Cowboys do sooner rather than later, so we can kind of experience at the cowboys now going on a twenty five year droughts not quite what Liverpool was experiencing. But but Pretty close so hopefully two thousand, twenty, the year of those types of droughts ending

"Then say you know. Be Confident enough to say you know I can hit the. Endorsement route and make that up You know interesting like you say a lot of people do say that about deck that he should. Take that avenue. Area and senator about. DEMARCO you know they say for everybody. Yeah, exactly so yeah, so i. mean you know Jamal's willing to do that? That's his decision share. You know it shouldn't be you. Know forced upon you to say well. You know you're in Dallas so part of the package. Here's you get to get a lot of endorsement. Sack you the salary you know expectation should be less so yeah. I mean but Jamal's willing to do that. You know that shows how much he's willing to come to a contender and. As. You say you know playing a lot of primetime games I, do think. I not the first person to say this, but the situation just feel so much like Jalen Ramsey a year ago kind of similar. Remember he literally backed up the brinks truck. Had the truck show up to Jaguars training camp when he arrived is very clear that he wanted to get paid. And everybody thought okay. You know the Jaguars are going to have to pay him. They're gonNA have to, and then they traded him to the Los Angeles Rams and today. He has still not gotten that big payday. And he has said that whenever it comes time in the climate, we're currently into show up that he does not plan on holding out so the Los. Angeles Rams paid a lot from a draft capital standpoint to get him, but they have not had to pay him from a fiscal standpoint quite yet, and while the Los Angeles Rams are not the Dallas cowboys. I again, not apples tablets, but he does believe Jacksonville's awesome great golf. You know down that neck of the woods. But I mean you've ever living in Jacksonville to live in la now from the Jaguars out of this team that nobody really cares about to. As? Certainly, at the time that rams got traded their to the hot young team with Sean McVeigh, and and you know the team that was at the time again, the reigning champions. So. I think that's kind of a light version of what happened here. With with Jamal, Adams growing from New York to Dallas, but time will tell I did find that to be an interesting detail. I'm nonetheless, but appreciate you stopping by for a couple of episodes and for help, and the wife and I moved looking forward to you being on some more the next few weeks are going to be long moving. But but good times ahead. Let's let's do this. You'll probably beyond what about two ish weeks maybe kind of plus minus a couple of days there May. Let's say somewhere between fourteen and twenty one days. Does Jamal Adams get traded in that timespan? And if your answer to that is yes, where to, because might not be the cowboys. In fact at this point, I actually believe that he's traded. It will not be Dallas cowboys. Yeah, I mean I think he's GonNa get traded. You know it's hard to when you know. A player's heart isn't there. You know to force his hand all they could, but you know I think he gets traded unfortunately, and you know similar to your thought process I. Don't I just don't know of the cowboys. are going to do that. pull the trigger on that and who else it might be i. don't know where the teams that went to the Ravens. GIGGLES list is literally like every good team in the. NFL like the Ravens, seahawks a niners. The Eagles on that list. And, then what was funny was then it was reported the day after the originalist came out. Jamal Adams has added the Tampa Bay buccaneers. Almost like Jamal was sitting in his place was like Oh man, I forgot. The bucks are good. Now you know Adam to the list. You know what I mean, and for what it's worth. The jets did trade to reverse to the bucks. You know there's that fascinating a precedent there. Yeah, no, I mean. I you know if I were to guess it would be a pure guess but I'm GonNa say the Eagles I mean. Gosh that would that yeah, I mean I would balance out the CD lamb. Yeah, ause universe, it'll gacaca make good rivalry there. Going forward. Yeah, that would be That would be something. Well, let's hope that that I hope it doesn't look. You'll get traded and I'm just guessing but. I'd like to see him. Go you know maybe San Francisco that would be interesting too I. think that kind of I know it's a good fit for him. Ronnie Lott comparison like he would really uphold that standard. That would be cool. You know exactly that'd be fine. They got a good team up there, too. Well..

"Brand new. Rain you know about free. Sione everything happened. It was like the cowboys warrant in the conversation. You know everything was like. The jets are planning on Freddie tenderness I'm the one from deal. Obviously, these happening at the rate that Jamal Adams wanted it to be done, but I'm still kind of in in that site in that I don't really think the cowboys are interested. I think a lot of fans want. Want to Kabyles to be interested and they want him to be in that conversation. Obviously, Jamal! Adams grew cowboys fan, so people kind of want that reunion. They want him to be with sober blue, and obviously the cowboys wanted teams that he came out and said he would be open to You know I think he had several other jumping like the chief ratings eagles, forty niners, seahawks and Texans. Always Cavaliers the teams. He came out and said he'd be willing to go to. But with the cowboys trying to get. Trying to get paid talk the market deal with him I don't see them doing another one forge more items. They would have to give up. A lot to get him and I just I. Don't see it happening. I think he's an incredible player. I mean all the way around you not just I mean he can claim to corner free safety strong safety I mean that guy is all about field, incredible and coverage. I just don't see it happening. So okay, but that didn't answer the question. The question is he hijacked? The question is are the cowboys set at safety? Are you confident? The Cowboys Avid Safety? I am? I honestly am with eggs of your woods. They added Fall Clinton Dix. I. Going to be an amazing, combination! Now if they if they hadn't picked up. Hall, then Yeah I'd be like K. obviously they Jesse's. But I I liked the setup. They have I mean. You can definitely have more definitely see Hawes. We've been signed to a one year deal, but as of now I mean I think they dasa great a great step going forward with who they have currently..

"I joined the guys up and join them a lot lately and on Friday. We had Gary Myers on Gary Myers. Of course well known in the Dallas area. The New York area has been reporting on Jamal Adams situation and we had him on to discuss Jamal Adams and so that was a conversation. You might like to hear so Gary Myers talk and Jamal Adams on Espn Antonio you will hear from Jayson Nix Rob Thompson and myself. Enjoy and have a fantastic. We will talk to you on Monday. Morning you're on a blitz twelve fifty Espn San Antonio Ninety four five FM on the go at ESPN ESSAY DOT COM. Thank you so much for dialing in the Senate on a good old Friday afternoon. He's Jason Mimics safely distancing his RJ Ocho hidden and his Mama's basement. James Pleasure and the glass box on the mothership. The essential one of the crew news has been moving fast and furious all day long regarding a potential deal. That might bring Jamal Adams to the Dallas cowboys from the New York jets. We first heard about it. This morning from Gary Myers Man. I got to not follow his way back when the Dallas Morning News but currently with the New York Daily News and a bestselling writer of one of the better books. I've ever read Brady versus manning. Welcome aboard Gary. Thanks so much for taking some time for us today a pleasure. Hey guys doing doing well and obviously you know the idea of Jamal. Adams is a cowboy is been there for a long time. I thought that was Kinda done and Boy Your your your your your source is your twitter's pop today. Getting all that percolating again. What's the latest on the trade rumors? It really. It's not even the money situation at this point. It hasn't even progressed. That far Adams's played three years and he wants a new contract. Now the jets WANNA wait so before. They can even disagree on the money. Their their philosophy is completely different and Their agendas are different so it's gotten a little acrimonious in the last week or so since the draft that just been talking to Adams agent and they made it pretty clear that they have no intention of doing anything right now they do want sign him. Long-term GM Joe. Douglas has said he wants to make him a jet for life but has not put a timetable on that and Adams who became eligible for contract extension after his third year wants to deal now. So that's where it stands and what I was told is that it got to the point this week. That Jetson Adams's people Started discussing the possibility of of them trading them and that came up for the first time last October. When the cowboys offered a one for Adams the jets wanted a one and two twos and nothing happens so the cowboys still make the most sense If he's GonNa get traded I I mean I don't know if he's GonNa get traded It's a possibility for sure We'll have to see how this plays out Gary. Obviously the cowboys make sense as you said for a lot of reasons the jets play the NFC east last year. So you don't have to Jamal for a long time if that happens. The familiarity with the area certainly speaks for itself You tweeted today and I think that you know there were some cowboys fans that were principled by this about a hypothetical. I thought involving Michael Gallup. Can you kind of explain in? Walk us through that process. Is that a hypothetical. Obviously the jets would want to get as much as possible in return for Jamal can say now that What I've been told the last few hours if the jets want a one and three the one and Michael Gallup was my idea and Nobody had said that to me. I was just trying to use commonsense on would make sense for both teams. Now I think that cowboy fans probably hold Michael Gallup in a little higher regard than people outside of Texas do Excellent player in emerging player had a real good season last year but if things progressed the way you anticipate in Dallas after they drafted. Cd Lamb and made a huge commitment to Amari. Cooper Michael. Gallup is the third wide receiver on that team. That has a great running back and a and a tight end catches some passes and So he's he's far from being the first option. The jets biggest need offensively is a number one wide receiver Gal has two years to go on his contract to have to figure unless they Cut Cooper I know this kind of a logical out after two years but if they don't get rid of him then going to be able to afford to keep Gallup figuring that lamb is going to be at that point halfway to a new contract himself so to me. It makes sense to include him in the deal. It tells the jets biggest need It's kind of a position wide receivers. That's a luxury for the cowboys. They're loaded there and the number one pick is something I don't think to make a trade without getting a number one pick And then on the other side Jamal. Adams is the best safety in the NFL and safety is probably the cowboys biggest needs and I know people devaluing safeties like they try. Tried to devalue running backs but I think proven that you still need to run the ball the win championships and you still need to play. And most of all. You really need to play good defense. And and he does a whole. That's been there since Darren. What's he is? Gary Myers writer with the New York. Daily News Reporting. Today Rob regards the possibility of a trade Jamal Adams from the jets to the Dallas Cowboys. Gary. I'm curious in your mind. What do you see as the as a stumbling block? If there is in fact one is at Jamal Adams future contract for the Dallas cowboys or is it the loss of first round pick. What do you think the primary issue would be for the deal to be made? I just want to correct you in one thing. I left the daily news about two years ago. Oh I'm sorry about that time. I was there about nine years. So that twice. I I'm looking at your Brady versus manning book on my bookshelf right now. So if you want to get the best stuff go to buy the book I appreciate you. Give me a little plunderer with that Or if the cowboys make the trade they won't do it without having a contract in place because otherwise be renting atoms for year or two and they're not gonNA give up the compensation that the jets would want just to rent a player so That would be worked out ahead of time and clearly if they get to that point. It's because they agreed with the jets on compensation so the jets would the giant giant. The cowboys would go into this knowing with Adams would want and you have to figure is GonNa try to hit the top of the market for safety's and I think Eddie Jackson. The bears currently resides there at around. I'm not sure the exact numbers but it's you know in in the mid-teens a per year excuse me fourteen. A fifteen million a year So I if if the cowboys pursue this they gotta do it knowing what it's GonNa cost them compensation wise. I don't think that would be that hard to settle with the jets and then the know with the top of the market is for safety's and you have to figure that that's what it could cost. Sign Adams so I think the the the biggest hurdle that has to be cleared right now is that the jets have to make the decision that yes. We're going to shop around for sure. And if we get an offer that we like we're gonNA make the trade. I don't know that they're quite there yet. But it seems to be certainly trending in that direction and the fact that we already know what the jets want And that the first and the third is out there already I. I would think that I was to say would be shocked if it gets traded before training. Kim Starts in Gary as you say that you wouldn't be shocked that he gets traded before training camp starts. Obviously the cowboys need to safety. The first round pig would be on the table. The cowboys have offered that the third round pick. Is You know. I mean they've got that that is well. They'll they'll they'll have that easily done. And so I guess is because we know the jets. WanNa keep them but is this really Jamal Adams pushing his way out of the New York jets and onto the Dallas cowboys. I think Jamal Adams trying to push his way to get a contract. He's been pretty Forthcoming he wants to stay in New York that he's happy with the jets. He just wants to get paid. And if you can't get paid by the jets and I think his first choice is to get paid by the cowboys and he's in somewhat control aware he winds up. Because I just mentioned a minute ago you know team is gonNA trade for him without having a new contract place because then it could just be a year or two rental so if they say okay we'll get a trade to the bills. He said we'll go ahead and trade me but not signing a contract and then the bills won't make that trade The other team that I heard pretty strong today was the ravens and that makes a Lotta sense also Especially when we're not really sure what's happening with the Ravens and enter all Thomas after that incident a couple of weeks ago so he would fit in perfectly there Yeah I mean. I think that Adams is definitely trying to force the jets either to sign him or Or trade him so it's a classic instead of play me. Or Trade me opinion trade. Gary I think that the the first place. A lot of people's minds go to his. Why won't the jets commit to paying him? I think that's maybe there's a common sense. Maybe there's not obviously into your own point. Jamal is the best safety in the NFL. What is hold up? I know some teams. Don't like to jump the gun. After the third year especially for first round picks when they have so much team control. I mean what? What is the situation there where you hit it on the head there? I mean they got him on the contract for this year. They've already you know. Met The deadline for the fifth year option. And then they can franchise him at least twice if they wanted to go down that road. It gets expensive after a while So they don't feel the need to do it right now and you know Joe Douglas's new on this job. He's only been here just about a year so we don't know where he stands in terms of developing a philosophy on some things but he seems to have dug in pretty good that He doesn't WANNA give Adams a new contract after three years that he wants to wait until after the fourth year might back off on that depending on what happens in the off season you know. Does Adam Training camp on time without a new contract. Does he take part in the MINICAMPS? Virtual minicamps He's not taking part in the Ot as the Virtual Ota's they just WanNa see how community is to the jets and then if the convinced that by September October. Maybe they opened negotiations with the now with. I'm Ben Writer. But it's very clear they have no intention of signing onto new contract before the regular season starts. That doesn't mean they don't want to sign a new contract at some point. They just want to do it on their timetable. Different timeframes for sure Gary Myers joining us here on. Espn San Antonio on top of the possibility of a trade for with Jamal Adams whether the cowboys are elsewhere Gary WanNa thank you so much for taking time out of Friday to join us with your insight. Take Care Stay Safe Gary. Thanks for being on the blitz. Thank you very much everybody there in Texas state as well..

"What's going on? How will you met with? A good, man. But the first of all you feel about you my condolences for what you have had to be subjected to. In New York City. What looking at a jet fan in front of me when the jets he know what the hell I'm talking about. How you doing more? How would you? I'm doing good, man. I'm just came back from the Pro Bowl obviously landed landed last night, you know, I'm excited to be here, man. You know, it's going to be a great week. Well, explain to me, man. What your attitude is like whatever because I happen to know that you're an incredibly nice guy off the field on the field. Obviously, you a different animal, and you should be. But I mean has got to the point where you you tackling mascots going on Jamal. Man. Honestly, man, it was it was definitely planned in a way. You know, I just wanted to put on a little show for the fans and the kids we were out there at the skills challenge for probably about three and a half hours in the same. Like, they you know, they were kind of dying down as far as the energy of the sun was beaten down on them and the pet mascot was running around. And he was getting booed by the fan base is all all in the stands. So I said, you know, what I'm gonna tell you the my hands man in first thing, I did was a Matiur NFL guy that works for the NFL went over there and made sure it wasn't a girl didn't want you hit a young lady. You know what I mean? But you know, it was it was a guy, and he you know, he told him. Hey, by the end of the end of the day, you might get tackled by Jamal, and you know. You know, apparently, he kind of forgot that I was going to you know, tackle him which I leapt on him and then tackle him. But what people didn't see him getting up chasing after me and tackling me. There's a video out there. But you know, maybe he got maybe he got injured when he tackled me. So I'm trying to figure that one out. I got you Jamal Adams for the New York Jets, Stephen A, ESPN radio ESPN news, put in perspective. What this season was like, the you. I mean, I've seen you on Cameron on on camera on numerous occasions where the frustration was written all over your face. You talked about the absence of dogs on roster. We know you got a new coach and Adam gays get into that in just a second. But put in perspective for all of our viewers listeners out there what this season was like for you playing with the New York Jets as much Java struggle. What was the issue? Yeah. Man. It was frustrating. I'm not gonna sit here until you it wasn't, you know. You know as a winner. As God that goes out there each and every day that sacrifices so much, and you know, you you prepare through the week to go out there on Sunday and get the win. So it's frustrating. When you can't you can't put out a lot of wins, man. And then you have a losing record for the second year in a row since I've been there. And you know, you just gotta you gotta trust the process, man. I I strongly believe everything happens for reason. And right now, we got one hundred million dollars and cap space. There's a lot of free agents out there, and hopefully, we can grab and we've got to change his thing around, and it has to happen ASEP. So you just gotta stay positive as one of the leaders on the team. I just got to figure out a way that I can motivate the ones around me that that I can I can I can make them Roz rise up to the Cajun. I can make you know. Dim better around me. You know, I can they can do the same for my for myself in as long as we get on the same page pulling in the same wrote the right way, I think we'll be fine. I can't front watching. You know, there's no quitting. You know, what a rough rider? You are. That's why you were top five pick in the NFL draft top six because you weren't playing any games, you know, who are and what you would made up..
