Wide receivers is clear to fantasy this season especially in philadelphia or devante. Smith had a great game. Six for seventy one on eight targets a touchdown for devante smith jalen waddell. Meanwhile at four catch a sixty one yard touchdown he had the only touchdown catch of the day for the miami. Dolphins will fuller was not playing yesterday preston williams and not playing yesterday so it wasn't all the usual suspects there for miami but these guys have a legit shot at a weekly roll inside your lineup to find. What was your big takeaway from yesterday though rookie. Quarterback's had a solid day. Even though it wasn't all wins for them across the board. It was a nice solid for three rookie. "I'm just going to say that he has given six breakouts combined. And four of them are on the lions and the broncos. So that's interesting it out. It's a it's a. it's a little risky right. Some good teams jamie jabe. Chris godwin whose who you breakouts top. Three patrick mahomes thing. He's going to have a great year. i'm gonna go with mas gaskin. I think he's going to build up what he did last year. I'm still hopeful for people that drafted him ask. I can't because you got him at a discount. But i think from us says before we loved extrapolation game. How'd he played sixteen games based on what he did. In his ten games he would have had over eight hundred rushing yards over six hundred receiving yards. Only one other guy did that last year. And that was alvin kamara. So you know if he's in that range Or close to whatever. Alvin kamara can do In terms of his rushing production and his receiving production but anything close to fifteen hundred yards pretty impressive so gaskin will be one. I'll stay with a dolphin and go jalen waddell going to be miami's best receiver and i think he's going to push to be a top thirty receive. I don't know if it'll be much higher than that. Because there's going to be obviously a lot of will fuller and devante parker moments but if those guys miss an extended period of time i love the fact that they've been so creative moving him around if he stays healthy and he's going to be to his best receiver and i think he's going to have a season. Dave stole my tight end of tj. And do you want me to give maybe one commitment and so I'll go back to the terry mcauliffe I think he's just going to have a fantastic season with ryan fitzpatrick. Durham smyth But they play multiple times a lot. They wanna be a aggressive downhill running team. That's clearly important to brian florez. I don't think they're going to be that this year but it's really important to him and they wanna have those multiple tight end sets and so you see how pits would've made sense with a times. They moved their tight ends across formation and the times that they get them releasing into concert we might kosinski be decently featured in the offense and one of the preseason that would have been pets so i think pits waddell. Were those two guys that make sense offense that makes sense for two and i do think that as it looks now which obviously they did. Draft waddell basil. Now waddell is important. Waddell is like you said the guy they they used akeem grant as the water. Replacement once Water coming off the field and like it's kinda good is fun player. He's very natural the ball hands. But we've already seen takim grant in miami already know kind of with the ceiling on that as waddell gives you a lot. It's it's the simplicity of saying. If i throw the bubble this guy. I'm getting dissect them for and that's just such a win for my offense and keeps things so easy and it prevents from hero. Plays not only because he doesn't have the greatest deep ball or whatever but also that offensive line's still for all the good stuff that we saw against atlanta's overseen from when they have to take deep drops for two when they tried to run some of those alabama play action shots. It's not a good offense a by late but they had one where waddell got opened on a d. crosser and the often y couldn't hold out for more thumb it was it was They ran in twenty jones. Yeah and and waddle scored multiple touchdowns on that concept and is just the back to be protection. You didn't get a good luck. And then jessie davis right. Tackle mrs bloch. He's got no chance on. "I don't really. I have a lot of trouble predicting what the dolphins offense going to look like empire because the coaches the offensive coordinator. It's a co offensive coordinator situation. They've promoted from within. George godsey and eric st studentville. Hopefully i'm saying his name right. And i don't know i don't know if it's going to be a departure from what chan gailey did with two. I would love to hear your thoughts on what you think they should do with two tunga viola so last year. This is a team that won struggled to run the ball but when two people were there was some flashes. I think of what you saw. At alabama the accuracy play making some athleticism to but he did struggle especially throwing the ball deep ranked thirty first and qbr in fifteen yard plus passes and often looked hesitant to throw a deep or to take risk or throw into tight windows. I think that has a lot to do with the transition from bama open to nfl. Open which you alluded to with one mc mack jones and so the dolphins went out in added a bunch of super fast guys. I think hoping that they can use them to stretch the field both horizontally and vertically and get the kind of separation that makes to a comfortable throwing deep like. Let me. Just ask you this. Do you think he can take another. He can improve palm last season. Or do you think we saw last year. Like how would you feel the dolphins fan about your quarterback. Last year is his ceiling. I would feel horrible. But i don't think last year i don't think last year's has ceiling at all. I think you go back to doing what he was doing. When he was his most successful in use around him with guys who can make things happen after the catch. And that sounds that. Sounds like such a simple concept. But when you look at the the receivers on this roster you look at jalen waddell and you look at willfuller. Even lynn bowden whatever position. They've got him playing and in king grant even more of a returner but still shifty good vision gets full of guys who you can get. You can get them the ball you know. You can run jet sweeps. You can get a five yards. From the line of scrimmage and let them turn it into something and you can scheme these guys open. And i think once he you know in theory sees the boggled through the hoop a little bit complete some of those short passes then things are going to open up a little bit down the field and i think he's going to have the confidence to complete to a guy like devante parker who i don't personally think is the best wide receiver one for this team. I think it might be. It might end up being near model in the in the in the near future. But you know you've got guys when you doubled up tight ends by by drafting Hundred long out of. I want to say boston college right. You already got microseconds. So you've got your safety nets in place already. So i think that they're on the right track of doing what needs to be done to make to a as comfortable as possible and again. It's just it's hammering home. Hammering things home with the with the yet guys. And they did. Come out. And admit which i don't i don't know if it was smart to admit it or not but we'll see he admit that he he didn't really know the playbook last year he wasn't comfortable enough to when he knew a play wasn't gonna work to to change it at the scrimmage. I don't think that's so far. Fetched to think about for a rookie quarterback who didn't have a full offseason. But you would expect to see some of those changes some of that control. At the line of scrimmage now in year two. If i wanna feel good. If i'm a dolphins fan and wanna feel good about my quarterback situation one hundred percent and i just i think you nailed it really is about creating window. Not like they're not bam. Oh but look you have these incredibly explosive skill players and increasingly. I liked the waddell pick by the way. At first i was like mixed feelings about it. But i was thought about to unlike how he needs to develop in this offense. It started to make more sense to me. I think they might move hunt inside if i can get the starting job but like a lot of question marks in this unit overall agree. But i mean think they're clearly taking steps to to try to improve it for the long term like a like going after your left. Tackle the future nostril jackson regardless of his time. All hollywood brown jerry jeudy so a lot of players that are in the similar tears for me. So what do you do at that point in your draft. There's a plethora of players in the same tier for you as a great question. And that's what. I'm trying to figure out right now. I think what. I'm gonna do here since i shouldn't be needing a running back for the first couple of weeks is lockup brahim oester and simply hope that he comes back from his injury healthy espec- because i won't need him until either one of new orleans or cincinnati's by securely upside pick. I don't hate it. Especially for the beginning of the season he could come out. Be the starter and be phenomenal. Or he could give up his spot relatively quickly and we don't know but like you said you don't need him like you weren't in the same spot i was so i like the most or pick for you. Yeah if i only have one running back absolutely not taking moster because that is a guy that i'm going to need early in the season and it's very possible that most misses some games all right after most calms off david johnson and even know he was still playing traded for deondraye hopkins and has mark ingram and phillip lindsay in his backfield. And this is why you have to be smart and not pay attention to everything that Twitter says Okay, because earlier this week There is a quote after one of the many camp practices that urban Meyer said that travesty TN the running back out of clubs and who was a late first round draft, pick a running back. Was going to take the majority of his snaps as a wide receiver. Twitter lost their ever living mind. It was like, what is urban doing? This is not college. You just why did you waste a draft pick? But when you hear what urban had to say about how they're managing Trevor Lords who's coming off the soldier shoulder surgery to make sure he's 100% One of the things they're being very cautious about is they don't want him handing the ball off a ton just in case Listen, there's a miscommunication. Somebody bangs them up and and a hand off and all of a sudden he kind of just tweaks that arm that he's injured, okay? That's one of the reasons why Travis see Tien is working out as a wide receiver and not as a running back and I love this for a couple different reasons. Urban went to Travis eat again and said we're gonna make. We're gonna work it out as a wide receiver. I know you're running back, but take the reps because they were not gonna be going to a bunch of reps for running backs here because it Trevor's arm. Um and oh, by the way. Lady on Belle had a pretty damn good, successful career. Catching the ball out of the backfield is well, too. That's what they want. Travis Et en to be is kind of that Levy on Belle. Catch 60 70 balls out of the backfield and be that little third down back. And if I'm Travis et en. I've gotta love this because guess what? Running backs don't get paid period. Liam's any longer you can catch the ball out of the backfield is, you know you're gonna make a pole boatload of money, So it's great for E. T. M. It's great for the Jags. And, more importantly, it's great for the NFL. Because now the buzz factor is even once again over. Jacksonville has nothing to do with a young Tim Tebow. You're absolutely right. It's great for the Jags. I mean, they have been in the news nonstop for the last two weeks, and none of it has even had anything yet to do with the number one pick in this draft, which is amazing. None of us are talking about Trevor Laurence. We're all talking about Travis Et en. We're all talking about Tim Tebow. And I do think when it's an organization like the Jags that is so often overlooked that it is super helpful to that organization to be in the news cycle, even for whatever reason, even though it's a lot of people getting worked up. Over, frankly stuff that doesn't matter. We're still so many months away from the NFL season. Who cares what's happening here in terms of Travis Et en, taking reps and trying to broaden his skill base, But you are right, Peter, that running backs in today's NFL. That position has been diminished. I was surprised that he went in the first round. I was surprised. I'm always surprised any running backs go in the first round, frankly, in today's NFL, and that's not to say that I wouldn't have taken him and at the 25th pick I think Travis Et en is a very bright future ahead of him. It's just that a diminishment of that running back position generally, you do typically want to get what you can out of them on their rookie contract. The longevity of the running back position is not at all what it used to be. So if Travis Ctn here can add to his game, I'm with you. I think that it actually really benefits him. So why not try when you're in a situation like you said, where they're not trying to? They're trying to preserve Rubber warrants and terms of handoffs, and also, by the way, they don't need a running back right now. So that Zamboni that's right, of course, so I think that's a huge component of this that nobody is talking about. So why not kind of bring him in? You try and maybe think he's got the athleticism and I think, And it sounds like at least according to urban that that's one of the reasons that they drafted him is because they feel like maybe they can brought in his skill set and that only goes to serve ET ends career. What they were looking for. She's Amber Wilson and Peter Burns here in best week ever on ESPN radio. What they're looking for is the guy that they did. They missed out on the draft. He desperately wanted to draft Darius Tony the playmaker out of Florida who's kind of a Percy Harvin Jack of All Trades guy. And when they looked at it, it wasn't so much is a position in Travis Et en going. Oh, we need a running back. Give me a running back. That doesn't make sense. Right? When you have Robinson there, you're in the first round. You're not. The Chiefs who could take had the luxury of going after Clyde Edwards a layer the year prior because, Hey, they were stacked else everywhere else. Why not take a running back? But for them they looked at is like this is a position guy that I could put. I could move in a bunch of different spots. Put him in in in motion. Put him out of the backfield. Using is the third down back if I want to have a mismatch. Traditionally, we look in the NFL is the tight end being the mismatch. But if you've got a running back that can play like a wide receiver right now, that's a monster mismatch. And there was a great part of Travis Et en in the connection with Trevor Laurence. How better to make the number one pick of your draft, The future your franchise film or at home than a guy that he stared at and had countless hours in practice, And I love that trend. Amber. We saw a lot of that right with two and Jalen Waddell. We saw that now with Hertz in Devante Smith, Joe Burrow getting Jamaar chase like I think this was good that front offices are starting to make these matches not imagine in Miami..
