"A contract here. We don't know what they have at a Malcolm butler or Jalen mills, or Sean wade, or, you know, is McCourty gone after this year. I mean, you know, he's on a one year deal again. Who knows? He's gone. They don't really have a free safety. We don't know about Joshua Bledsoe. Kyle Duggar is not a free safety. Adrian Phillips is not free safety. Jabril peppers, I don't really think, do you think he's a free safety is more of a box linebacker than anything. I think he's a strong safety versatile player that could play in the box and still use and bring him coming forward. So Dax a pick like Dax hill would give them coverage in a lot of areas and just say, all right, well, if Jonathan Jones doesn't want to take our contract extension offer, he can go to market and we have a guy that we can plug and play. I mean, miles Bryant can play in the slot. You know, I don't think I think he's, I think he's a really good player. Of course, he was burned sometimes last year. I think slot cornerback is like the hardest position outside a quarterback in the league because it's a two way go. And if you don't get a lot of pressure, forget it, those guys have no chance. I guess a guy like Isaiah McKenzie, you know, I think miles Bryant's a good player. I think he can be he can replace Jonathan Jones. I mean, he was an undrafted guy. He's going to be going into his third year. He quickly, as a rookie, as an undrafted guy, I was almost unheard of that he's playing different positions. Free safety, different safety spots, cornerback, like that's unheard of with the Patriots. So I'm a big miles Bryant guy, and I think he could do the slot, but Dax hill can do a lot of different things. So that's interesting on your mock draft, and we'll sort of get into the nuts and bolts of it later. Speaking of you have them trading down in my column today on BS J I explored the possibility of them trading up.

"And people are surprised when this happens all the time, but you look at guys like Josh mccown, right? Colt McCoy, who just hang around the league forever and they don't really play, but they're there. That's because they're just valuable resources to have in the room. Hoyer is kind of hit that level. Like you said, teams are going to be worried about what he can do physically. Yeah. It's his value in that room. He's going to be in the league another 5 or 6 years, probably. I don't know. How old is he? That might be a little much, but he's a bold years of the two year deal. His rookies. He's 36. He could play four more years. Wouldn't account play two 40, 41. Right. Exactly. Yeah. All right, so we talked about Brian when we were talking about all these other signings, but obviously the news coming down here and a little bit over an hour ago. The Patriots are without JC Jackson. JC Jackson has moved on to the Los Angeles chargers, the Pats now going back to the drawing board at cornerback essentially outside of Jalen mills and Jonathan Jones coming back from that injury. Hang on, you want a breaking one here. This is actually interesting. Okay. Demar is from Tom Paul Sara just now. DeMarcus Lawrence has become the first defensive end in NFL history to have 7 straight seasons of his contract fully guaranteed. He's got a new three.

"In weeks, 15 through 18, the Patriots ranked 32nd overall in defense, 31st in past defense, 32nd in rush defense. Now, Aaron, who is a patriots fan, and he also likes his numbers, so he, that's a whole another tangent. But anyways, he said, well, take out the last week, even though I don't know why you would take out the last week. The Patriots played a familiar opponent who they've already played, who's already part of that, but anyways, let's take Aaron for at his word. Let's take out the final week. In weeks, 15 through 18. Not including the playoff game. They were 15th overall on defense 14th overall against a pass in 24th against the rush. So what are we talking about here? We're not touched. So stop talking about Bill Belichick and a patriots defense because this was not a patriot defense. And so getting back to what you're talking about about the game plan and the errors on the defense. To me, I think I would relate them this way. I think that they got the plan this week. The players got the plan or at least when it was clear Jalen mills was not going to play. And they saw the plan, which was basically we're just going to like sit back and just hope for the best against the bills. And I think that I think that the players lost some steam in that. And I think something that will touch on later, I think this was a theme in the final 5 games. Everyone's like, what happened to the defense after the bi week? I've gotten a little bit of Intel on that. We will talk about that a little bit later in the show. But I think this is intertwined, where it was like, these guys didn't like the plan. And it didn't put them in the best position, which everyone says that Bill Belichick normally does, which he does. And these guys just fail. They were not enthused about the game plan and about what they were asked to do and their play on the field reflected that. So it's to your point about that. And I'm sure we'll get into this. It speaks to the Matthew slater comment about how we need to stick together. And now that kind of had adds value you consider what it looked like and what you think the film told and then looking at those percentages, it makes it what should really scare you as a patriots fan is that's how potentially how dominating buffalo could be in this division going forward. If that's how drastic of a change that one game made, going forward. On the Matthew judon, I know we've spent some time on him on this show, but just speaking to what this game was. He played on just 22 of the 56 defensive snaps. That's 39%,.

"To me is a Paramount importance in this game. They have to get turnovers for the bills. They have to win the turnover margin. So just to counter to that, are you at all concerned about Jalen mills and Sean wade who are on the COVID list? Just in the sense that even if they are active, maybe that they've missed some reps, conditioning? Is that all something you factor in when you look at defensive backs trying to throw that wrinkle curve ball? I don't think so. I think whatever you have, you go with. Justin bethel, Cody Davis, special teamers out there like whatever. Give me more speed, give me guys who can tackle which the special team guys can do and I worry about sort of matchups later. Okay. So we'll keep an eye on those things. As of this morning, those updates on wade and Jalen mills for the Patriots. So before we keep going, you mentioned the weather. I think it's worth bringing up. It's going to be really, really cold. And you mentioned, you mentioned how it could be, of course, don't turn the ball over from a Mac Jones standpoint, but you said in our pre show discussion about how it could be tricky. What do you mean by that? In the sense that you feel that to generate any kind of passing game, you find that worrisome because of how cold it's going to be. Yeah, I just think you want you don't know look, we still don't have the answer on whether Mac Jones can play in these type of conditions. I mean, you know, I don't think he's been great the cold or it's been. So, you know, can you count on Mac Jones, making plays through the air not turning the ball over? You know, how's the ball going to come out? I could tell you that whatever they will be watching, the coaches will be watching and they did this, they do this every game, but especially when weather conditions are important. They will watch Mac Jones intently in pregame warmups. Basically, they watch them in the first buffalo game, terrible wind conditions. We know that. But they watch Mac Jones in the warm ups and we're like, we can't throw the ball or we can only throw the ball with the wind. That's the only thing that we can do. He's not powering the ball. It was not going well. So they will watch him in warm ups. See, how is the ball coming out of his hands? How does our arm look? Is it loose? Is it free? Is it going to be cold? And then, you know, the football just gets harder, you know, in those conditions. So even the running game, ball security is going to be Paramount. The Patriots at running back have done a really nice job. For the most part, the last since about week four, they've done a really nice job in that regard. And the bills can get a little loose with the ball. That's Allen and the running backs. So to me, that's an advantage for the Patriots, but you really got to gauge Mac Jones in this weather. I'm not optimistic on him being excelling in these conditions. So the Patriots are.

"And you're going to have to hope that your best cover guy against one of their best receivers can hold up because you can't give help to Jackson over the top. You have to take away the middle of the field with the safeties. It's gonna be really difficult to take to give help to Jackson on Mike Evans on the perimeter. So Jackson's gonna have to earn his money. But how do we think that they are going to match up the rest of the secondary because I think it's pretty obvious that Jackson's going to get Mike Evans? Yeah. I mean, they really have two options. You put you put what I think they should do, you put Jalen it's not the best option, but you put Jalen mills on the outside against Chris Godwin with Devin mccordy over the top and the John Jones on Antonio Brown in the slot. The other thing they could do is put you on Williams on the outside with help against Godwin and then you put jaylen mills in the slide. Again, those are really the two main options. I don't love either of them. I'd go with the first one because I think Jon Jones can take down Antonio Brown. You know, for the most part..

"And now they have Adrian Phillips, Jalen mills, Kyle duggar, Shawn wade. They have a lot of guys that they're trying out at that spot could potentially cover tight ends. I think is maybe a role that John wade could hold down. So they're not a 100% sold on their players there. I don't think. I don't think that there are a 100% sold on Kyle duggar, for instance, being the long-term answer as a tight end stopper, right? I think they know that Kyle duggar is going to have a role in this team and he's going to be a good player for their defense, but his role might look a little bit different than what they initially projected. They drafted him thinking that he was going to be Patrick Chung. Maybe he's more polamalu Rodney Harrison, right? And those are obviously lofty comparisons, but just in terms of playing style. So they have been throwing a lot at that spot, right? Just trying to find the next successors. They are parents, whatever you want to call them to Devin McCourty and Patrick Chung. And John wade feels like he might be another name in the hat at this point at those spots. So he could play a little bit outside corner. I don't think that's his best use. I think his best uses inside. So there's another guy. Another guy to throw his name into the hat of playing some safety playing, some nickel corner, doing those types of things. Yeah, no, I agree with that. And look, maybe he develops on the outside too. Like he's a younger player and I think there's a number of ways he can go and they generally like those guys. Yeah, it just a player that they like in terms of the traits. I don't think we should look anything into it. A lot of people on Twitter are asking, does this have to do with Stefan Gilmore? Does this have to do with Jonathan Jones going out of practice early today? I think that that's gonna do putting too much stock in 5th round pick. You know, trade for a 5th round. With Gilmore I don't think so because if they really were worried they wouldn't have Gilmore they were going to give up more to get more. They're going to go get better and they're not going to push on weight and with John Jones. All right, that trade was reported about one 30, so I think less than an hour after Jon Jones get got hurt, you don't get from the initial call to reported in that time frame. Like this was being negotiated before they knew John Jones got hurt. So I just don't think the timeline lines up for that. Right. I mean, they're not going to acquire a guy on August 26th, two weeks out from the regular season..

"That is just another one of those money backers, right? That they have Doug Phillips. They have guys that that spot already. They really need somebody to break out on that outside, boundary position and out there at practice. The last couple of days. It's felt a lot. Like if the puzzle is has fit together a lot better in the secondary than it was before because the Mills isn't playing outside corner and he's back in the inside of the formation. So whether it's a placeholder for Stephon Gilmore and they're just put in Juwan Williams out there cuz yep. No, they need to get Jalen Mills ready for the season and that's not where they're going to put Jalen Mills. Once Gilmore comes back or this is actually a positive development for Joanna Williams remains to be seen a little bit I guess. But the one that I will reiterate Woodlawn Williams allowed to play on the boundary. He's allowed to cover bigger receivers that are going to run go balls and stuff up the field and run vertically up the field. He is off line out there. He's not a game-changer but he's fine when cornered wide receivers, excuse me, break down and they run quick Slants. So they run underneath routes and shallow routes and things there. There's horizontal cross to the top of their route. That's when he gets a little bit more. I would say dicey and that spot, but at least he's not letting up the big place, right? That that's I think a positive. If you're going down for a 7-yard slammed underneath and you just make the tackle, right? And in Live to play another down, the big players are the ones that you can have and he certainly didn't give up any noticeable big plays over the last two days and that's that birth. You're looking for a third cornerback spot again, if he has to replace Stephon Gilmore, that's another question. I don't think he's up for that. But if he's there to to supplement and to help rotate with Gilmour and Jackson, I think that that's that's always been the Mantra Patriots, defense, right? Is no big place and if you get nickel-and-dimed underneath the ethnic went down underneath, just stand strong in the red zone. So I think that might be enough. I think it might be enough as well. But moving over in the secondary, I guess, or our next to Jawan Williams. No secondary still nothing on this roster, kind of waiting for the end of this dramatic Red Sox game. Yeah, dematic Red Sox game and exactly when we sign off the podcast..

"Who would cause a massive issue like this if he didn't think that it was going to get solved. Are you surprised the steelers let gets this point. Yeah i guess that's that is a good point because clearly they could have done something earlier in the offseason but these contracts can be so difficult and. I think that they're still at the where it's t. j. watt. He's bitten the system for so long he knows what he's doing. He's got over thirteen sacks over the last three years. It's not that paramount that he's on the practice field at this point it. If this lingers longer into the season i guess you could wonder why they didn't get it done now but i do think that they're still at a pretty safe point with it. yeah i think that's fair. You mentioned gilmore. I wanna finish up. You're talking about maybe some of the guys who either could get extensions or could be on the move. A few players around the nfl who have been subject to trade talks or trey discussion. And i want to know what you think about. The chances will be maybe either on their current team or get an extension won't happen with these guys in the weeks to come and let's start with stefan gilmore or course star cornerback for the new england. Patriots recent defensive player of the year but a guy who's coming up to the final year of the free agent contract. He signed several years ago. And we know bill. Belichick is not afraid or opposed to trading star players when he thinks that their time with the team is coming to an end so What do you think goes into the calculus for the patriots. And what do you think happens with gilmore for the twenty twenty one sees. I think the patriots are are almost kind of stuck right now where they need to figure this out with stefan gilmore and it's they're not perfect examples but it is somewhat similar to the saving howard situation because those defenses the brian floors defense or the bill belichick defense need those two cornerbacks more adept in man coverage and the dolphins avid and byron jones. Being howard and the patriots should have it. With jesse jackson and stefan gilmore if they trade stefan gilmore or if these issues lingered into the season and mrs time then they don't have much Behind on gilmore right now training camp jalen mills has been that number two cornerback. Jalen mills really kinda struggled as a cornerback at times of the philadelphia eagles which is why he was moved into more of a hybrid safety slot. Cornerback jack-of-all-trades type role and jill mills actually made a couple of plays When i was at practice on monday but overall i've heard that he is kind of struggled this season. Our this training camp For the patriots. And that's understandable. He wasn't a great man coverage outside. Cornerback with the philadelphia eagles. If you go beyond him then joe williams was a second round. Pick in two thousand nine hundred nine. Who really hasn't worked out. And then you're getting into guys like miles bryant. Who is more of a safety or slot option. Mike jackson senior. who's a fifth round. Pick a few years ago. But it's gonna bounce off practice. Squads the the issue for the patriots is that they really don't have great depth at the cornerback position beyond gilmore jesse jackson and their slot back jonathan jones. So that tells me that just the fact that the patriots didn't address that physician more. This offseason tells me that the patriots think that this can be settled. And i think that that is the sense within the building. Is that one way or the other. They'll figure this out. They'll get him what he needs and he'll be back by the time the season starts so do you think you'll be just for this upcoming season and turn of the two parties will part ways. I think that's definitely a possibility. I think that that's in play. I think that. I think that the gilmore's camp would be open to something similar last year. Where he just gets a raise and the patriots make him happy. I also think that he'd be fine with a contract extension if they wanna pay 'em like observing our if they wanna pay them like darius slay. I'm not sure if the patriots are going to wanna do that for an older cornerback who who is coming off the quad injury So i'm i'm i'd i'd say that the more likely scenarios at this other kind of one year deal then they'll figure it out in the future But i do think it's possible that they reach a contract extension. I don't think it's off the table. Means can't jesse jackson of course as well About to hit free agency after an impressive season a year ago On their side of the ball the patriots. We should talk about in larry who Put out a trade request earlier. This summer I was intrigued certainly I think one of the all time. Great press releases and terms of agents Backing their players talking about how. They were uncomfortable. But what about you'll harry Has stood out to you. Do you think he's on the patriots. We'd want i think he is. He's had a pretty good training camp. He's been one of the standup players the summer at the same time. He's just kind of buried on the depth drive behind the guys that they brought in this off season nelson agra and kendrick born. She'll be myers would be above mom depth chart so you're really looking at him as being you know the fourth or fifth option. The patriots don't have a lot of depth. That water. Beyond mikhael. Harry so i do think that he probably sticks around at this point. If you're only going to get a low draft pick forum anyway. Which i think is the most that any team would probably be willing to give up for harry unless he just absolutely blows up in the three preseason games. I think you're better off keeping the depth and kind of saving face by keeping the first round pick that you took two years ago rather than dealing him at this point a six or seven th round pick. I'd say that maybe if there's some sort of player for player deal that could work out You know we we mentioned. cj henderson earlier james washington is another player who's reportedly requested a trade. There's some wide receivers on the arizona cardinals that maybe could be made available. That would make sense to me if it's a player for player swap but if you're only dealing with the draft which most these trades are that i think that you're better off just keeping him on the roster a guy who was reportedly or maybe not logically available for a late round. Pick heading into the offseason was kurtz Who has a cap. It in the final year of his deal with the eagles. Seems like we've been waiting all summer for as akers straight to happen and here. We are in the middle training camp and soccer. it's still on the philadelphia eagles roster so ibm given what you're hearing given. What you think is accurate. It's going to be on the eagles season or do you think it's just a game of chicken and they're going to wait until the last possible second.

"Like, quietly just goes about his business and just gets open every single day. 6 a.m. to the hand practice during team drills. I mean, he is the best route runner on the team. Still, I think he's not the most explosive or the, most dynamic route-runner, I guess. Kendrick. Born kind of gives him a run for his money now Entourage. The pier route running ability, but I still think I'd give it to Jacobi. I still think he's going to have a big year. I think having Nelson Aguilar on the outside to give them some speed. Element is really going to open up the middle of the field for him. I had a great day out there today and import Jalen Mills had some tough times, it covering him inside. Well what's interesting about Jacoby is Jacoby was. So so Aguilar had the fourth day. Born had any of the second or the third day. Yeah, we're had the others but Jacoby was probably the second best receiver all of those days, right? Have a bad day. We were just waiting for the Jacoby date the brake and then he had that today and that's going to be fascinating because again that's all Personnel, you're really only going to use two receivers most of the time, all three guys will play. But you're only going to use to most of the time and I'm going to have to be an odd man out and they're going to make it that group a trio of Aguilar born and Meyers and I know you're hesitant to make a girl or the odd man out. I think it might be a little more realistic. And we realize yeah not the way he's performed which is the overall picture. They are making it really tough to figure out who the odd-man-out is in that group because all three have been outstanding to start. Yeah. And that's a good thing. That's a good problem. Yeah. Oh great. Well now not a bad thing at all. I just I really hope that Josh McDaniels gets real creative and runs that fight that group of five out there of a garage or born Myers Johnny with Hunter Henry, right? And you can use jaanu, sort of a tailback HVAC type, to have some sort of backfield threat and maybe even handed him the ball off. Hand the ball off, excuse me, to John it a little bit, just to give that as a threat..

"I'm not behind closed doors, but watching him on the field, his ass was burnt deep over and over and over again. And he would get snookered by double moves constantly. Maybe Belichick believes know the dudes better than that, we can coach him up and he will be fine. And if Gilmore doesn't bring his ass back then we'll have JC Jackson will have Jalen Mills I think will be good with Jones in the slot will be fine. We'll be able to make it with Brian. As the fourth guy on the depth chart. Maybe I would say that's a risk obviously, but maybe that's what he's thinking. We didn't draft the guides cuz we got Mills. Anything else you want to cover cuz we gotta move along it to the Gilmore tweet. I also obviously we want to have the question of the week. "Second thing with Justin Fields concerns me just a little bit in terms of the Patriots is his ability to operate under centers cuz if you did do it a little bit at Ohio State but most of their under Center stuff was bootleg action was rolling him out of the pocket not a whole lot of traditional play-action passing from under Center. So those two else I think are going to be new to him and certainly something that he's going to have to work on. So unless they're going to plan on going full spread and just allowing him to operate in his friend system where he's hardly ever under this truck center and they could change the scheme to fit that but they're going to have to get rid of a lot of the play-action concepts that they really really liked that have worked well for them over the course of their of the twenty years that they've been here so wage. That those two elements concern me by I still love doesn't feels as a player. He's my quarterback to on the draft. I think some other teams can get a great quarterback at a payment. They if they surrounded with the right pieces, I just don't know if he's exactly the best figure in New England some of the other needs that I had written down and Alex you can kind of correct me here if you want. I still think we're I mentioned tackled. That's a tough one for me. I think they need to draft to tackle at some point. Preferably somebody that can play both left and right to potentially back up Isaiah Wynn and Trent Brown and sort of bring in that future at that position. Cuz after those guys unless you want to convince yourself that Justin Herron is a long-term option. They don't have a whole lot of long-term options at tackle on the board right now on their depth chart. I should say so offensive tackles the big one that we've talked a lot about running back pass-catching running back that certainly up there. But the one I wanted to mention before I wrap up here is free safety and they have been looking for Devin mccourty's replacement bulb. Drawn Harmon's replacement. Maybe they think that they have it in Jalen Mills, but I don't really take him as that type of player..

"Maybe Mills will be a little bit better than I anticipate what I want to ask you though about Mills because you said you gotta watch film on him when I saw this move Greg and I thought maybe I'm wrong but when I saw this movie I thought about Stephon Gilmore and I said, yeah. Well that gives them more depth in the secondary and this could open the door for a Gilmore trade, right or wrong. I think you're right. And and I think a lot of your observations are spot-on cuz you know, I texted somebody from Philly right after this this move was announced and I was like well, how long do I need to know about Jalen Mills? And he's like he gives up a lot of long passes and again, it could be, you know, it could be skiing like you said, I mean what Jim Schwartz runs a lot different what the Patriots run the Patriots obviously we're targeting this guy. There has to be a reason we'll see what that reason is, but he he has a lot of Versatility. He's played all over the place from you know, cornerback moved to safety. You can play free safety strong safety in the Box along the line do a lot of different things. You're like, well, you know don't they already have Devin McCourty and Adrian Phillips and perch young and Kyle Duggar and you know, all these guys yeah they do but I do think I think he's here to give you options should whatever happened with Stephon Gilmore and I would pass Odds of being very low that Gilmore Still Here by opening day but you know stranger things have happened. Yeah. So I mean, I just look at this and I think a lot of things that people have said over the past year a couple of years, you know, a lot of those people just ended up being wrong Belichick's not going to pay at the top market for some of these top guys. Well, you're young Johnny Smith Matthew judon play it paid at the top of the market for those guys the idea of you know looking at this this Belichick thing where it's just going to be way too stubborn to admit that he was wrong with some of these things and he's not going to go out and spend on receivers and but that was wrong. So I just think what you see overall and I know you said some of this song at the beginning and as we wrap it up, I just, you know, I look at this overall and I say to myself this is a good day for Patriots fans. And if you if you look at some of the mistakes that were made wage What would you like them to do? You know I tweeted that today for the people who are bitching about Cam Newton. They're bitching about bad drafts in the past and they're bitching about this..

"You, Jeff. Here, it's the Packers leading the Eagles 7234 43 to go in the first half. Both teams the full complement of timeouts, along with the two minute warning. It feels like Chad, the Green Bay Packers After that slow start when they went three and out clearly on the last drive. They got things going when they went 88 yards for a score. 14 plays very methodical drive. One game pass game. Nice mix of play calling Seems as if they've got things going now finding some spots on that Eagles defense. They'd like to attack Aaron Rodgers, nine of 10 for 81 Yards, four of those to Davante Adams for 39 yards in a score shotgun formation. Tyler Urban, motioning behind the formation, said that give the Aaron Jones running towards the spot that was Just vacated instead, That's Jamal Williams. He'll pick up a couple just shy of the 20 Give my yard to the 19 before he stopped and now a healthy discussion about geo political activities along the near side between a number of players. Jalen Mills from the Eagles involved is Scantlin of the Packers. I think they were going over that border to speak in Pakistan, who was on the right side of that one. For a long time. Kashmir has been highly disputed, and I don't think it'll be settled on first down. It's second and nine on the way with the Green Bay Packers. You need to single tailback Aaron Rodgers goes under center play action now rolling out across his body, throwing from a heel and complete Mercedes Lewis wide open behind the defense and down the near side line in the eagle's territory and down to the 45 yard line. He was running three before Jalen Mills got him. He was just wide open Rogers. You talked about his ability to make it look so effortless before the game. You were talking about that just watching him in pre game. That's another example. Some quarterbacks Rogers and Patrick were homes and.

"Tomorrow. Cooper's gotta catch. That's a first down. If you catch that, Amaury Cooper started to look at who was behind them and who was about to tackle him. And it was Avante Matics. You got any thoughts on trade deadline? Moves of cowboys are gonna keep doing some manipulated. You know what they absolutely should I, You know, there's just so many these guys in such high salaries who wants to take him on fourth out of four from 38 passes completes at midfield. Schultz jealous Mills makes the tackle. Spot the ball of the 47 yard line. It's a gain of more than 15 yards. Crockett used to move one minutes of play duty out of the gun, which is to the right throws to the right pass is complete to Schultz bounced out of bounds at the 41 yard line Gel in Mills again again of six big pet peeve of mine that Jalen Mills let Dalton Schultz get out of bounds there. You need to come far and fire at his outside thigh board to make him stay in the field of play or even pull him onto the fuel to play at that point, because You didn't want to go out of bounds right away, and that would have taken a lot of time off the clock 57 seconds to play in the fourth quarter. She takes the snap out of the gun, Flix it to Schultz off his fingertips out of bounds bills to get on the coverage third down and I'm telling you, the new chief, Look, I'm not saying he's Tony Romo. All I'm saying is he has so many side arm and like three quarter arms deliveries. It's so interesting, like, how do.

"The ball at the five gain of two Second down and eight. For the Giants. Change is made here for Philadelphia. They will rotate players in and out will parks. Who is called up from the practice squad last week checks in Freeman is on the Giants Online without his helmet on time. Possession is lopsided in favor of filling Goldman in the backfield. Jones to throw it fires it over the middle, a sliding grab made by Slaten good enough for a first down, he's touched. At the 16 yard line. They'll move the chains for New York. I don't want to belabor the point. Fourth and three. To throw the ball on a fade route, which is not a high percentage play to begin with. To a guy that we've confirmed, has never caught a pass in the NFL. And he's out there going against Logan Ryan, who's accomplished quarter I am stunned that the Eagles thought that was their best option on that play last week against Baltimore was his first team. In his NFL career pass to the right. Holden by chef tried to tip toe and stay in bounds. But he is out of bounds. Momentum carried him. It's going to be Short of the first down. After the first down, grab. The Giants are moving the ball. They were deep in their own territory at the three yard line, and now they have crossed the 20 to the 23. That's one of the reasons why teams will go for it and goal to go situations because you do the math and a lot of times. Even if you get stuffed down, their team plays conservatively trying to come out of the end zone and you're able to get the ball back in good field position. Second down and three handoff. Goldman steamrolls across the 25. He's got enough for the first down. Giants moved the chains once again, using up clock here early in the fourth. Jalen Mills got turned around on the play and a good physical run by Coleman. That is a big big First down right there for the Giants. You know their stage still 12 minutes left, But I mean, scored 14 10. So the way this game's been going The more you can shorten the game better for the Giants right now, 1st and 10 with 11 42 remaining in the fourth. Make the hand off Jones in trouble steps up, Jones bounces off and dumps it off the Goldman. He's got room to the 30 Coleman hit at the 34 yard line that could have been a big lost.

"No i guess i'll touch on is that i did z strap at practice today. He was wearing boots still on his right foot. What about hey. What about jalen mills that that makes me think like where. Where is he in all this. I think he's going to be on pop to begin the regular season which you would miss at least the first six games and then he would be eligible to return seven at the very soonest doesn't mean in he would be backed by then and i think i was thinking about this too mike because i saw him at practice again on sunday and i was thinking like it's a tough spot for jalen because he's going to be a free agent agent after this year so he's gonna wanna get back on the field as soon as he can. I feel like you know because e you needs to reclaim his role and like be able to do his best asked to kinda get playing time and being a spot where he can try to make a nice money in free agency next year but if he's thinking about it maybe a little bit more like patiently gently and building okay but i don't want to rush out and get on the field and not get healthy and i'm kind of struggling with injuries all year and then i'm going to go into free. Agency values going to be really low. So maybe you know he's in a spot where like like evenings. It could make sense to wait and you know let's were swimming that the eagles defensive backs will look good when he's missing time and maybe they will and ideally they would. Let's say they don't oh and all the sudden like they're struggling and then do healthy will then he's gonna get his job back so i think that's kind of where they're at with him. I think he's gonna be on the pup list to start the regular season. Okay okay and i think that does it for today. "And if it reaches that point, I wouldn't but in general, I kind of do wanna back just because I still think he has some gas left in the tank he's gonna be kinda were talking about earlier, the are limited cafes. So they can't to spend money everywhere. They're gonna go have to cheap at some places. And I just think you know, that's potentially area where they could go cheap. The next guy is also very interesting. And I I'm not exactly sure where I land on Ronald Darby be Eljay because of the emergence of Avantis Maddox this year, and we saw Russell Douglas play very well when when they eventually got on the field and got enough Rapson and started to feel comfortable in the secondary. If Jalen Mills's back in healthy, and you've gotta vont mattox. And you've got Russell Douglas. Do you spend the money that? It would need to take to keep Ronald Darby and sign him for another however, many years of guaranteed cash. It would take to keep them in Philadelphia. No know. You know, I don't think you can you have someone youth and talent in the secondary already without him. I just don't think it makes any sense. Honestly, he's he's probably one of the top corners on the market. So teams are going to be after him infrequency, even coming off, this ACL tear. I think unless something weird situation where his market totally just doesn't materialize. And he's looking to come back on one year deal of some sort when you're at deal. That's where I would consider it. But I like round Darby. I think he's a good player. I just don't think it makes sense financially for the eagles are really for him to to make that work where he comes back. So he's going to be gone should be gone. And really he's probably someone you're really counting on to help. Get that cockpit formula going in the eagles favor. You know, meaning like he signed somewhere, and that's going to help the eagles get that compensate. Very pick in with him pending on the deal. You gets it could be three or four. So you almost have to look at it that way, you're almost. Trading him for a future pick. And I think everyone would probably do that. Yeah. I would too. I think the I loved what I saw from Madison. I really thought Douglas played really well at the end of the season to pair them with Jalen mills. I think that's a very nice trio. You could get that trio on the field for pretty cheap couple of the guys to mention here, Jordan Hicks. I don't know what to make Jordan hick spiel because there there have been times during his eagles career where he has played like an impact player, but he he was and the rest of the linebacking corps was completely invisible in two thousand eighteen and I know that the eagles defense is not set up like the Dallas Cowboys defense. But when you watch the Cowboys play, and you see how athletic and versatile, their linebackers are makes me wanna have a couple of linebackers, or at least one linebacker that can do some of those things. And I thought that Jordan Hicks was going to be one of those guys at a certain point. But you know for so much of the season. He didn't miss much of. The season. He he'd had a few games where he was out with an injury. But he really was healthy for the large majority of the season. And you never heard his name mentioned. I don't think I would bring him back next year, Brandon. I maybe I don't know what else is out there haven't really looked closely at linebacker and free agency. But, you know, unless you get him again on a on a cheaper deal might be looking to upgrade so weird spot and speaking of Levick, she'll potty of flick earlier this week had pointed out the Nigel Brad him, Jordan necks combined for zero interceptions and zero force fumbles in two thousand eighteen now to be fair to Jordan aches he did have that one to flesh in which caused that Kamu who Jay hill interception early in the giants game. So he did have that play but point being just enough. And it's so weird because for most of Jordan his career up to the season. He's really like been a ball magnet. Like that guy. Always makes plates on the ball. It was crazy. I remember looking at stats going into early in two thousand..
