But goofy stuff happens all the time in the NFL and and and we see it, so I I suspect to get the win. I think it'll be probably harder than maybe most would expect. But if they if they won by 21 that wouldn't shock me. Either because that's what the talent would suggest. It's a double digit victory. But yeah, this is a This one's tricky. I mean, you look at it you go. Okay to one else start that would doubt that would That would be your inclination win win, but back to back at the road game in another road game, not coming home for a little bit. I mean, it's important because they have most of their tougher games at home. This year. They're road schedule. Isn't that bad? If I remember correctly, I think the toughest road game for maybe Tennessee. And that's not all the way until I think December they may play Tennessee something like that. But other than that, the road scheduled pretty damn manageable. For these guys. They get the tougher teams at home, which is a good setup for the 40 Niners. But I'm just excited that that it's back starts off tomorrow and then Sunday, we'll have a full slate. "I don't know. Whatever they decide to do it like he's not going to be a huge part of their plans. Early on, anyway. He was like, uh, third on the depth chart, so they got other people ahead of him. But man alive. How can you ever trust this guy is gonna Be healthy for more than a game or to me. He hasn't shown it. How could you even believe that so I don't know Whatever. Not if we're frustrated. Can only imagine how frustrated college Shannon here it is, you know, and and obviously he's someone who is around him every day and and knows much more about the situation. The knee in particular. Than than we do. You would think he'd be frustrated. But Obviously not frustrating enough to just cut back. It's just there is something about heard, and that combination of skill size and speed At wide receiver It's just Shanahan is just probably if it's just for a couple of games, But if it's the right to games or the right handful of games, Kyle Shanahan just wants to be able to just open that bad boy up on the freeway to stay Larry with the car metaphor. Just open that bad boy up on the freeway and just blow everybody away. He must have a group of plays. That involved Jalen Hurd that he's just looking at him like board. When I unleash these cats, they just make a bus for me and Ken while I'm still coaching. You know what I'm saying? He just must be looking at those plays like I'm gonna kill him. As soon as Jalen Hurd can practice and play. I mean, think about this guy was talented enough to play running back in the S E C and then play wide receiver, you know for his second team and have and really do well at both. So he's a great athlete, but he's also had some crushing injuries, and sometimes the injuries overwhelm you. And your body just doesn't respond. I mean, I can't think of anybody, not anybody. I'm sure there's like Jesse Sapolu. I know had a couple years blown out early in his career. Nine are stuck with them eventually got healthy. We all know the rest being won Super Bowls. He was pro bowl or perennial, you know, in a foundation piece, but it's just really difficult. It's really rare. When you have big injuries like this to be able to, then come on the other side and get beyond it and have some meaningful NFL runs. So We'll see. The The good thing here is they don't have to. It's like the cut down where they have to cut him free. Now he's legitimately hurt, Probably and they can put them on the I R. And they can stashing for six more weeks and retain his Deal, but I would replace him while you still have them kind of a thing Just because you can't depend on them. That's really and then if he gives you something, then you consider it found money, But I think you're foolish if you depend on them. I can't wait till him and Marcus Lattimore get healthy, right? That was like the worst draft choice of all time. I got blown up catastrophic injuries. Oh, yes, I need that guy. I mean, that was a trend. Bulky special. I was sure wasn't it? It's like nobody thinks he's faking it or or no, not at all. I don't I don't believe the bottle agency the knee, is it right, and I don't know that it's ever Going to be right. You would think after a year off, Okay, This is good. And then one game out. And maybe on the I r at that point, it's like, okay, you know what, Uh, and again it would be a much bigger deal. If he were a bigger part of the team this year, if he were like, let's say, second on the depth chart, and he was planning on playing him a lot of snaps, and then he couldn't rely On him. Like I said, he's third on the depth chart, so it's not like he's a massive part of the plans, although I'm sure he had some stuff that he would have liked to run with them. But you know what? It's not going to affect the team one way or the other. This isn't going to be like one of those things are like, Oh, man, they would have done this if they would have jail and heard. That's not the case. But we all want to see him. My point is man. Mean that trains waiting and waiting, and it's been waiting a long, long time. And there's a lot of passengers on board. They would probably get low. Restless right about now going. Yo, man, We're going to get out of here, not we're about to run out of coal. Before we pull out of port. As good as Deebo. Samuel has proven to be and as Impressive and as intriguing as Brandon Aiyuk has been, and is Jalen Hurd and Dante Perez. Just to pick two guys on the opposite side of that spectrum have been Big big disappointments where you look and cope. They were supposed to be. You know, big parts of this deal and got nothing out of it and two different guys. Two different, You know, situations in terms of why things are Did not work out in in Paris favor and currently is not working out optimally for herd. But you were still looking at those guys like, okay. Yeah, I can see it. I can see it now if we could just see it. And with with with Perez, we just never saw it and with hurt. We're just not seeing it. Hopefully it doesn't turn into a situation where we never see it. Great Coach said that one game stretch where God didn't say. PETA said that 15 game stretch was like, okay. Now he's kind of so I can kind of see it. I just never got the feeling with him. That football was as important As maybe it should be the guy in the NFL. I'm not saying you have to. You know, you have to consider yourself a football player like that. Tell you I'm a football player. You don't have to be that guy, but it's got to be really important to you. And I'm not sure that that was never the case. For him because there were there's definitely was more there. But I don't know if it was as important to him as it was to Kyle. It's hard to play that sport. If it's not important to you, it's hard to play any sport professionally. If it's not important to you, but You can almost not like basketball. But if you have the physical attributes and you have the talent and you got a little bit of drive, you can do it. Baseball. There's a great amount of dedication, but you can, you know, kind of like Football because it is such a physical sport. And because your body is the The the literal vessel to make it happen. If you're not down with it, and all of the stuff that comes with playing football and what happens to your body, and 99% of it is not good. If you're not mentally ready to deal with that, or you haven't compartmentalized it. You ain't gonna play. You're not going to play. Well, and let's be honest here. I mean, if you're a great receiver, your fast and you're tough, and he in a in a football sense, he was neither. And he didn't have the 40 time. So when you don't have the 40 time, they don't. They don't worry about you beating them off the off the line. So then they get up in your face. And now it's about how physical can you be at the line of scrimmage and he just got manhandled at this point, rerouted. I mean, he just never established any presence on the football field at all. Didn't catch the ball inside showed some alligator arms didn't you know? And then it wasn't fast. I mean, he didn't have Virk. He wasn't a vertical threat. And he couldn't beat the jam and that's and if you want came over physical and do the stuff you need to do with your body. You just It's not gonna work. You have to make that deal on some level, don't you? That this is going to be. I'm going to engage in three hours with the car crashes every single Sunday. If you are not willing or okay with that. "And they have the guys that I would think. Richie James, Jalen Hurd, Travis Benjamin, You know those are probably the three guys. You know the Mohammed Sunu. It was with the team for like, three weeks last season and End up cutting him during the season and then bringing him back. So I don't know what they're expecting by bringing him back another season. Heck, I don't know what the new is thinking by going to a team that cut him in the middle of the year, so I mean, that's one position. I think where the 40 Niners. Really? How that they don't have much in and if you start looking at you know who behind I You can Samuel these last year you You knew going in that kill Kendrick born. He's put together a couple pretty good seasons. He could be capable starter this year. It's there's kind of taking a leap of faith. I mean, I think Larry a Duke tweeted yesterday. That, you know, G b d. V Westbrook. And doubt to me he would be the guy that is the 40 Niners. Add somebody from this point forward who could actually make the roster? He would be the guy somebody who has Background and was a productive slaughter Receiver missed most of all, Mr Almost all of last season. They got injured in week. Two, Um But it's I think, at this point, it is wide open. Who could be that number three receiver they They have some candidates, but no one has really done it at a consistent level. First off. I'm shocked. An agent was touting his client. What is this world thinking the same thing? He assured him. He assured him Tom, The guy that pays, uh, the agent. Has given the agent assurances and the agent gave the same assurance is celebrity. He will be healthy either. I know, right? I'm off my answer. Is that its representation? We could do that. But I don't know We got a lot of decisions to make. We like our team and I don't want to have to give up more money for a really good receiver. But another guy where we were. I mean, it was a trap picks. Which I mean, they could have done it. It could have easily done it. You know, they had the two third round picks for next year. They traded one of them to move up to get Trey Lance. They traded one of the first round picks last year, so yeah, they could have Done that part of it. But if from what I understand kind of internally, a lot of the discussion was if we were to do this Can we still keep Jimmy Garoppolo? And I mean they could have. Yes, but they just they don't want to get in that situation. Where the term cap hell Kapil loved it. Yeah, it's been a long time, but No, that was right. At the time that New York family was taking over and and Prague Moratti was was counting the You know he was the Kabbalah gist. And and I think the the Yorks kind of came to the conclusion then that we don't want to do this again. You know, don't want to don't want to get in a point. Where you're you're just spinning on your credit card and keep pushing money out. And, you know, paying that interest rate and all that stuff. Uh, you know, figuratively speaking, of course, and then You keep doing this and you keep doing this. And then all of a sudden, like, okay, we're going to have to tear it down and build it back up. They don't want to do that. So, yeah. I mean, they could have easily have kept Jimmy Garoppolo and said, Hey, we will, you know, well? We'll give you whatever $20 million signing bonus guaranteed will push the money we can fit in all this stuff. They just don't want to get to that position where if you keep doing that, and keep doing that and keep doing that, at some point You're going to have to tear it down and cut some players and and then move on. So That that I think had a lot to do with it. The $15 million for this year. The 11 I think 11.5 for next year, the year after, you know if you do that, then. Okay, well, Are you going to be able to sign Deebo? Samuel? L ever signed him to an extension. Um, are you going to cut Julio Jones after just one year. You know? What are you going to do here? "You've said in as much as you know. We did the exercise last week. On how many teams win the super bowl We talk about with the forty niners a lot there. I think that people have a strange kind of anti jimmy. Garoppolo biased And i really do think the even if he plays they they can still win games in a big stage. I think that the the division is really hard and that complicates things. And i just don't know you know in in a in the one by era If it's going to be easy to come from division like that and and get the breaks. You need in the playoffs danny kelly. Nfc west aficionado. Where are we on the niners this year. Yeah i mean wouldn't shock me. They were super bowl team two years ago. So it's not like. I don't think it's a wild stake. I i do think that And we talked about this a couple of weeks ago and we talked about the teams that could make. I think they need to have some things. Go right for them. I think you know whether it's jimmy. Garoppolo taking his game to another level or trey lance coming in and playing really well as rookie. I think those are two things it would certainly help. I don't know if they have as good of a defense as they had two years ago They still have a lot of clearly. Cornerback you could be an issue corner maccabi issue but at the end of the day like honestly when wounds fries me that much like a death so such good skill players And and like it's it's they're the best team by far at running after the catch and shanahan puts these guys in perfect situation to catch the ball have space And just make defenses pay I'm really excited to see who they kind of have is like third receiver. Whether it's maybe jalen hurd who. He was as a freshman or sophomore. Whatever he rushed for like a thousand yards as a running back and then he then he changed over to a to the receiver position. The third rounder. You didn't hurt his first two years in the in the league but He's another guy that's interesting. I mean i don't know who's going to be the third guy but They may not even need him with kills depot and there but Yeah this is just. This team has an identity I think their offense line will be strong. You know they got. They got shanahan calling plays which always makes it really difficult for defense for defenses to to figure out and then of course if their defense gets back to what they were a couple years ago then they will look like a juggernaut. I just think there's. I'm not quite as confident as evan. But i do i. There's absolutely like in the realm of possibility. Wouldn't surprise me that much. I wanna get nor am evans. Take on how the nfc west shakes out is q. I evan if you could rank the four teams nfc west. Where would you go right now. Now i mean clearly i think the forty niners are the best team but The rams i think are really really They've got those two studs on on defense and they've got a bunch of other really good like role players in the well. I don't know you know losing brand staley that i'd be a significant loss. I do think that stafford talking about eating stafford talk about quarterbacks that can elevate the players around them like. I think that stafford is going to. We're gonna see a big year. I think tyler higby. Or you know maybe cooper cups best season in and robert woods making more plays downfield instead of just everything. Around the line of scrimmage. Like the. I think he's going to help take their passing game to another level. The jared goff could could not reach. I think that they're really dangerous. And then you gotta russ seattle. And i mean i think the defense is looking a lot better and the offensive line is looked. I mean they got gave jackson thought that was one of the better moves of the offseason. The seahawks are good team with a great quarterback so there's already a great infrastructure for him to thrive but he can get a lot of credit for doing it right p. carols a defensive head coach and they're looking for for someone who's going to give them a little bit of energy one word that pete carroll has used and some of the players of used as they've gone through they've started to get into otas there is tempo and that's been something that they've been saying that he's really going to bring to them and they're super excited about and i think that's really really really important because where we seen the sea hawks offense look the best with russ in recent years. It's when they're in two minutes situations or other times when they're situationally forced to pass forced to move. The ball quickly forced to use some tempa. If shane waldron can come from the rams a team. That's really good at using tempo just regardless of the situation now where he has russell wilson to talk twenty-five receivers. I think he can really get the most out of russ cover up some of the offensive line issues that i think been mitigated but still do exist and really just help everything mayor gel and i think if that happens then you know you sprinkle in a little bit of us to work for sean mcvay and boom gotta head coaching candidate. "On the surface, the largest deal in NFL history at the time, but you know beyond those first two years, it's just been a year to year kind of thing. It's not like Jimmy Garoppolo said. Tremendous roster security with the 40 Niners. So I think you see that a lot as far as the you know his fit within the locker room. Within the team is this is a guy with blue collar roots from those Chicago's suburbs. Dad was an electrician. You know what wasn't wasn't really highly touted, coming out of high school because he played all of the games in the mud, and you know all that stuff matters when it comes to our guy fits on the team, and it really matters. In a situation like this hits right when his potential successor has drafted a number three after the team spent an astounding amount of draft capital get him, You know different guys gonna react in different ways. But I think the 40 Niners really pleased the Jimmy Garoppolo has has really stayed true to his roots in the way that he's responded to this and you decided to just get back to work. And there's an obvious way to get Jimmy to play really well, and that would be to add another big weapon to the passing game. I think we we started talking with you about this the week of the draft before because find no in Atlanta was talking about trading Julio Jones and it's Seems like it's gonna happen, maybe in less than a week's time when the calendar turns to June next Tuesday. David. So you've got a nice piece online, and I'm gonna skip the first three narratives because they're just ridiculous, but they're the one about affording Julio Jones. He's not too old. He's a great player. His contract is not bloated, but There is the salary cap is a bit of a problem here over the cap as the 40 Niners and 17. Million $663,487. So how would they do that? Whether what they have to restructure Jimmy or convert some of it to a bonus. Other players If they wanted to do this, And there's no reason why you wouldn't if you could come up with a draft pick compensation. But Justus far is fitting him on the roster from a cap perspective. How does Perak pull this off? It's gonna be really hard, Greg and you know that 17 million figure that's not even counting Trey Lance's contract yet which hasn't been signed. So once you account for all the rookies, and you look at it from a 53 man perspective. 40 Niners, especially after Jeff Wilson's injury that cost him even more money because it means another running back and have to make the 53 man roster. So they're down under 10 million and Julio Jones gonna cost 15 million with his base salary. If you acquire him this year, so you can already see that that that doesn't match up. Obviously, you can restructure players. Theo, you know, push the cap hits back into future years. But there's another huge issue with that for the 40 Niners, and that's the 2022 salary cap. The NFL just came out and said that 208 million will be the ceiling for 2022. The 40 Niners already have $194 million of liability stretched out. Among only 35 players for 2022, so you can see that they're already kneeling nearing the ceiling, and we don't even know what the floor is. And if you restructure guys this year Inevitably, that makes your 2022 cap bill bigger. So I would argue that 2020 twos and even bigger issue in terms of wanting to acquire Julio Jones. Then 2021 is in the 40. Niners have to consider both. They're going to do this now. Is it possible? Yes, it would be a really tight squeeze and would put a lot of pressure on this working out. You know, you couldn't have Julio Jones show up and play another eight or nine games because of a hamstring issue. But as you saw in the piece, I think that I think that his track record speaks for itself. I think this is the Hall of Fame caliber player. That could make something like that worth it. But it would require the 40 Niners to really gamble in a financial sense that Julio Jones and Jimmy Garoppolo could put on, you know, shows and in 2021. So that the 40 Niners might even be able to to recoup some draft capital after the season to really make this worth it on the spreadsheet because the draft obviously the cost controlled way to to move forward in the 40 Niners are running out of picks on that end. Even the Marty's unit, So you asked the question about Jalen Hurd and again. We saw him early. In fact, Pops first preseason games, scored a couple of touchdowns and he's had the injuries then he had a knee last year. You gotta Yuki got Debo. But that third spot Richie James is sitting there. Travis Benjamin has looked good. Where are you sitting in terms of looking at a slot guy looking at the receivers beyond I Yuk and Deebo. I mean, if you bring in Julio, then everything changes all the search of the Tulio. I mean, he's a unicorn. But so let's just toss that out for a second because I still think that's more unlikely than then. Likely at this point, but The way it's working now, I man it's always hard to say this because everybody jumps on me when I say it's Jalen Hurd is healthy because everybody says, Well, of course you're not gonna be healthy. It's Jalen Hurd. But boy Anybody who saw that? That preseason gaming in Dallas back in in 2019. You can't not, You know, think about the possibilities if Jalen Hurd is on that field During the regular season for the 40 Niners. And when we're talking about a guy who was a power back in the S E C, and an outside wide receiver in the big 12, I mean, if you were gonna build a player for Shanahan in the lab You would make him a power happiness CC on an outside receiver in the big 12 and you know that might be why Jalen Hurd and is the dealt with back issues in his career and why you started to really run into these Injuries with the 40 Niners because he was so heavily used in college and somebody different ways, especially the power back at Tennessee. But God, I would love him for the 40 Niners in that big slot roll. That's the way that the 40 Niners are moving offensively, Shanahan Recently has really emphasized size, especially in that slot role he he'd loved, You know, kind of the blocking advantage is that he can get the guy could be, um, you know actors a tight end in the run game, and he can also become one of those yak monster's one of those big targets in the past games, so E thought Jalen Hurd yesterday He seemed to be moving around pretty well off on the side. They're not really doing actual practice work yet. But if that goes well, the 40 Niners will be looking really nice there at that third wide receiver spot, and that's why would you really be circling right now and taking a look at through training camp? Two is what they're in the middle of right now, Interphase two. That's how we're getting this offseason program started. It's the It's the first on field sessions for veterans and rookies together because they have that rookie minicamp. That's where all the Ricky showed up last week and did a little bit of media think they did that Friday to Sunday that normally phase two last like three weeks long, where they're doing this offseason workout stuff practices exercises for all the players are doing on field stuff there like full pads, but the rocking the helmet there jogging around and throwing passes to outer No. Doing it like partial speed. Just Getting their feet wet, getting used to each other seeing each other again, and Theo NFL Players Association initially and said they didn't want all these players doing this. So we weren't sure how many 40 Niners were gonna show up. The 40. Niners have 91 guys on their off season roster, but they'd have not released. How many people were at this practice. We can say this is gonna go all week long this week. They're doing this work out. Before they enter Phase three. Then they get in the O. T A's and the Goth of the mini campus. The only mandatory practices the players have to show up for before the start of the actual practice season. So no reporters air there are on the sidelines and they're not only will be out there are allowed to be out there till OTAs get going again. But Jimmy Garoppolo was there. And George Kittle was there. Fred Water. We're all there yesterday. Also guys like Eric Armstead, Marie's Hirst Art in key. Ah, lot of these guys took videos of themselves. Kevin Givens, who had some trouble this offseason on it is getting that situated. I think he was arrested this offseason in Baltimore and is awaiting the litigation of that He's at the off season workout as well. S so we're looking at a lot of these bigger name players or guys, you you would hope to be out there. A lot of times. This stuff is small potatoes, and it's got so you're like, Yeah, whatever. They should probably be getting their work in. But some of these guys showed up because they're getting paid to show up. Jimmy Garoppolo has $600,000 tied to work it out. It's a bonus for for taking part in these off season workouts, so probably good that they gave Jimmy Garoppolo that incentive. He's there for 600. K s O. It's important, Kyle Shanahan said for him to show up and do this stuff, and apparently, he's been big in the film room. Obviously, we know about Him. Colin Trey Lansing. It'll be nice to have another FCS guy around. I mean, he may just be being a leader, maybe being a teammate. And and that's the most you can ask for. For a guy who just had the heir apparent to his job drafted at number three, just a couple of weeks ago. So some of the guys to pay attention to who are going to be in camper who are there right now? Marqise Lee, who the 40 Niner signed the former Jacksonville Jaguar had his best season in 2016 83 passes 60. Excuse me. 63 passes for 851 yards. For the Jaguars. She actually opted out of last season after about it knee injury in 2019, So he did not play in the in the Cove. It's season in 2020. He could be a dive for the 40 Niners this year. We'll see He's sort of a burner so we'll see how he recovers from that knee injury. And again he would be playing alongside the lights of guys like Richie James. And by the way, they've added some other guys who were here in this this offseason practice camp with the 40 Niners. Check out the wide receivers they brought in. And look, Brandon, I you can indeed Bo Samuel when I've seen people over the last couple of weeks really start toe. Seo ratchet up their hype of Brandon I. You can let some other guys that the 40 Niners drafted in the last two years we haven't seen yet. You're chairman herds and your Juwan Jennings, The kid they drafted last season of the seventh round that we were kind of waiting to see and haven't gotten a look at any of these guys. You Jalen heard two big touchdowns against the Cowboys and the Cowboys game or a Broncos game preseason game in the last two years. Still haven't seen him hit the field yet. So cross him off game. Here's some of the other receivers that Aaron Camp right now, are you Samuel Trench, Sir? Field, Richie James. Travis Benjamin, the former Carolina Panther, right. Travis Benjamin hanging around now. Big body Dude. Marqise Lee, Mohammed Sunu, Jalen Hurd, Jawan Jennings River, Craig Craft, Kevin White and undrafted rookie Austin Watkins. So they're your wide receivers that are hanging out on. Don't forget this is a season where the 40 Niners well, the NFL has changed the rules on the numbers. The players have to wear like it used to be. And I guess until this year at the NFL level you had numbers that were assigned each position. I was wondered how they decided that way back when he's back in the day like you used to have receivers of war, the teens, right and then it was like nobody for a long time. Until when I was a kid. But I really do think that the future of the 40 Niners has changed over the weekend because this team has an offensive identity. Now with Trey Lance Ah guy who can extend plays a guy who can run the football as well as past the football and Trey sermon, joining this offense as well. A second round draft pick Aaron Banks. One of the largest offensive lineman the 40 Niners have pursued and cow Shanahan and John Lynch's tenure. I'm really excited about the run game possibilities, And to me, that's what Kyle Shanahan has always done best. His dominate opposing defense is through scheming up favorable run matchups, favorable defensive alignments through what he could do on offense, and now he has more athletes to help out this sporting matters. Offensive system trace sermon an interesting pick. Of course, because the 40 Niners for the past few seasons have gone with wide receivers in early rounds of the draft. We saw the 40 Niners do it. Not so successfully trading up for Dante Pettus. We saw them try and get Jalen Hurd in the third round. We all know how that has worked out so far, although San Francisco's still remaining optimistic about her chances of impacting this offense, But I like the certainty that you get would trace sermon who produced at Oklahoma who produced after transferring to Ohio State and produced on the biggest stage is like Last year as a grad transfer with the big 300 yard game that we talked about in the Big 10 championship. And then, of course, playing well against Clemson later on. So one thing that I want to touch on what Trey Lance's John Lynch's comments that post draft about what they saw in him or Trey sermon. I should say what they saw in him why they felt comfortable going after running back. So here's the 40, Niners general manager on the new running back out of Ohio State. You look at our backs in the past, and I think one common element is the speed and you may Look at his 40 time and say he doesn't really fit but sometimes 40 times can be deceiving. I You know, I think What speaks to us is like is 10 time was very good. And so you see that burst You see that ability to stick his foot in the ground, break tackles and hid it in a hurry. T o be able, and I think the move was prompted by just a growing feeling that Trey was a really good fit for us. And I think we stayed patient. But when we felt like, all right, our luck's about to run out. We made the move and we're happy to be able to do so. Make no mistake where he most hurt is still the home run hitter for this offense when the 40 Niners have a schematic advantage when they think that they can take a team deep through the run game. Most her will be the guy in the game for cow Shannon. He's the one with the breakaway speed, but where he moster has dealt with injuries. At times. He's probably not as effective when you give him the ball more than 15 times per game. The 40 Niners have seen that over the last few seasons, and they saw how effective he could be in the 2019 2020 post season when he was fresh. And well rested. He dominated against the Minnesota Vikings have the historic performance against the Green Bay Packers. And that's why the 40 Niners felt that it was necessary to go out and get Trey sermon to aid this backfield. He's someone who could have more of a day, one impact than Trey. Lance. In my opinion, I think that Lance is gonna have some growing pains. Lance is gonna be someone who you're not going to work into the offense. One week one. I really do think that the 40 Niners will defer to Jimmy Garoppolo at the outset of the season. Look, if Trey Lance passes him in week two and week three and practice that I do think that they will make that change. But I really feel confident that trace sermon is going to be a big addition. In the first few rounds of the NFL draft teams were much more reluctant to take guards and they are to take tackles because tackles provide that premium value. They can stop pass rushers on the edge There number one job is to protect the quarterback. Keep them up right. And so the 40 Niners already gave all of that money to Trent Williams in the historic contract they picked up the fifth year option of Mike McGlinchy said There was Really no need for this team to go out and get a tackle this year, but they still wanted to fortify the offensive line with Laken. Tomlinson started in that left guard former first round pick who they traded a few years ago from the Detroit Lions to get him and he's been great. Ever since Arriving in San Francisco, they went out and got Aaron Banks and El Sereno Native Bay Area Guy grew up 40 Niners fan out of Notre Dame. So Michael Glenn, She's got some familiarity with him. And I think that banks is someone £325 to isn't necessarily the proto typical offensive line. And for Kyle Shanahan Zone scheme, But he is someone who offers ah lot of intrigue at the position because of how different he is in couch. Keith Taylor, whose Teammate Molden are already got drafted. Taylor's a big 64 long arm kind of Kela Witherspoon body type, but he's really cocky, and he dominated at the senior Bowl practices and even in the game. I really like him. So to me, the secondary Richard account and Tyree Gillespie or two safeties account from Georgia Gillespie from Missouri. Um are that are really interesting to me. On Then there's a couple edge rushers today. I mean, Theron Jackson from Coastal Carolina is a really good, high motored pass rusher and a coastal Carolina coastal Carolina. Yeah, and then this one really get you. This is one of the sleeper of sleeper names, but Chris Garrett is a player from played at Concordia. Well, it's an unbelievable, unbelievable player. I mean, you really have to see this guy to believe it, but incredibly productive. You sacks galore. I mean, he's got ridiculous stats at the Concordia level. Ever. Concordia is, but I did see film of him and he is He's lightning off the edge. So you said you saw film guy Did she film actually have filmed nice, eh? I know, you know, I know. You know, Ben. He just said that the guy the Patriots grabbed moments ago was one of quote his guys. In other words, He thinks he's somebody who really could pop out of the fourth round room. Mom J. Stevenson running back out of Oklahoma, and we know the Patriots solve that reputation that it's just like, Hey, you be the running back boom. And he'll score three touchdowns on week one or something like that. So so what do you think of him? Because he's going to be in theory, potentially behind Mac Jones here over the next year, too. I love him. I think he's a terrific player. I mean, you know the weight is what's his weight. You know, there was a lot of talk that he dropped some weight. If he did, he's gonna be even quicker. So he's like a big back who almost like built like a fullback, But he's clearly a half back. And you know if he can get his weight under control and not have, you know, baby fat you're talking about somebody. Who maybe maybe a real steel. Yeah, man. He's a big back for sure between the tackles runner. Stevenson was grated Oklahoma Well, my question is, I guess it's to you, Larry. What I mean, don't you think the 40 Niners really need a solid third receiver? I'm talking like that. That flanker that little wire Lee that quick, quick separation type of guy. Is there someone like that in the draft? You know, it's a great receiver draft. For sure. I mean, it's It's a terrific receiver draft. Um, the guy from the University of Houston Marquez Stevenson is a difference maker. I mean, this guy can absolutely we'll talk about 43 speed and just, you know, stretch the defense would be an incredible slot player. It depends. What they're looking for. Is that you know they still have Jalen Hurd here. And I expect her to show up in camp ready to play. Now, Doug Hendrickson we're gonna have on the show later is his agent will get a little report card on heard at some point, but he's the bigger physical 65 to £20.220 pounds slot, but they could you know, the other guy that I think is interesting. There's a couple guys Thailand, Wallace from Oklahoma State. Probably should've gone day one. He's still there. She Smith, who was a buddy of dead of of the Niners wide receiver from South Carolina. Who depot Samuel their buddies. She Smith is an undersized slot receiver that you're talking about Dennis, who's like Definitely can make plays and really, really impressive player on tomorrow. And Terry's another one from Florida State. Who's just you know, has great measurables and and had some injury problems of Florida State. And then probably the most productive guy is a guy named Jalen Darden, who played in North Texas, and his numbers are unbelievable. As far as production. He's a smaller, diminutive guy. But man, he's his productions. That probably is good or better than any receiver in the entire draft. Right up to the top With Devante and Jim are chasing all those guys. He just did it in North Texas. Yeah, And then that's what I would like to see in these. These later rounds, the 40 Niners to go out and find that one. That little step that little receiver that quick receiver kind of what they're hoping for Dante Pettus to be kind of be a guy that gets him quick separation make some big plays after he catches the ball, that type of player, maybe someone that special teams like 40. Niners haven't had A good kick returner. Punt returner, you know, on the squad. I think that would help the team out quite well. It's possible that Amri Thomas could could help out on that front a little bit. You'll hear from Amri coming up in about a half hour, so I got the chance to sit down with him last night. The regular season. Last year is not a lot of distractions on this team, So it's no it's no. No mistaking. No wonder why they've had so much, um, you know, up and down nature failures, you know disappointments because they were not clean. They're not clear. No one knew who that was when he got hired. Andy Reid was a quarterback's coach. I think back in the nineties he had a little notoriety was a farmer who are the other two coaches that LeFlore I couldn't believe they hired him. I never heard him And why had heard of him, But I didn't know He was that good. Who's the other coach? We're missing 10. Bruce Arians is a little different. As much as we want them to, and I applaud them. They kept it quiet. And if they got their guy for whatever reason, Good luck because the first order of business is can you fix Carson Wentz? And if I'm interviewing him, that's the first thing I say. Can you fix Carson winds and how Do you want to? Have to start there because the offensive coordinator and now he's gonna be a head coach. Can you fix him? Do you want to fix him? And then if not, then what do you have planned here that that that's what I would want to know. The difference is that Bill Walsh had this incredible resume built up, so you're not going to question how he did it. What you can't figure out right now is if it ends up that the Philadelphia Eagles at the number six pick of the draft Ghetto Hall of Famer And the guy that goes Number nine is a total bum, Doug Peterson, Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Loria will end up looking very smart for this decision. They may They may but it's not Peter's gonna be around long enough. It just players. You're gonna trust them next year after what he pulled. But but Once you take the field, all bets are off. You could put your team in a position to lose. You. Absolutely could do that at your organization was right. You care about your ethics and all of that again, It's just the optics, not the outcome for you. Yes. Because if they again if they sat, Jalen Hurd start the game said You know what needs some films earned this? It needs sun filled one out there to stump for four quarters. Something right? Well, guess what? You know what that was the Eagles position to do that. What the difference is is the Eagles organization thought they would lose the game. They were in a position now suddenly to win the game and their head coach looked all those players in the eye or busting their ass after busting their ass all year and saying Sorry, don't care about you guys learning this win. "We're to get into the fifty three man roster. So today, we're going to make some projections I did a roster projection heading into training camp was on July twenty seven I had Jalen Hurd making the team I had Sean Coleman making the team. I had a few other players that they're just not going to make the team for whatever reason. So we're going to do that again today after trying to cap after all the news after everything we've seen and read and it will let's just compare to see what's changed since. So start with the first things first quarterback, Jimmy, Garoppolo, nick, mullins, CJ, Beathard I think they all make the roster I. Don't think that that's going to be very you know very controversial. It should be. I mean yeah. I I. Agree I all three of them making the roster as well. Especially, this season with Cova did I imagine that most teams will try to carry three quarterbacks if they can especially just given you know you never know. What happens if Garoppolo or mullins or you know they were to test positive or whatever the case is right and they were mistime than having Beth who understands the system? He's not great by any means just having them in the building is going to be advantage. Advantageous this season. I made this comment to someone else earlier Beth. `Red to George Kettle is Kinda of like you know James Jones or Mike Miller was. and. Lebron he's like teams back in the day. He used to have like those guys like travel with him. I think CJ beathard and George kind of like that George must have somewhere in his contract that Caesar method must be on the roster wherever he is.
