"Yeah, you could say that about Mike mcdaniel now. Mike mcdaniel was on our head coaching list in 2019. And I think that if you were an owner and you just, I don't know, do owners just call coaches, would that happen? It would be like, hello, football, man. Do they do that? I don't think they probably don't do that. Some of them do, I bet. Maybe okay. If you would called anybody from the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree, which was just starting to get hot back then, that's when they made the Super Bowl run with the chiefs. If you were to have called anybody, even tangentially related to that before 90 of them got head coaching jobs and you asked everybody who's the smartest one, who's the guy that's coming up with all this stuff. Everyone would have told you Mike mcdaniel. Everybody. Kyle Shanahan blocked him like 8 times to for coordinator jobs in other places. I don't know if it's that many. It was quite a bit. And then Stephen Ross just emerges from this massive fraudulent attempt to lure these guys in and she's like, all right, I'll take that guy. And he turns the franchise around. Like, God. You're not supposed to get that lucky. It's like Jerry Jones just like torpedoing the franchise. Toppling over tables because he didn't get Connor cook and then dak Prescott just walks into the building and he's like, all right, this is fine. It's not fine. It's stacked Prescott. You don't deserve dak Prescott. Didn't get Connor cook after desperately trying to get Paxton lynch. Yeah. Like, my God. It's the way he goes sometimes. If you like that lucky. Well, I don't know, you have a $1 billion first. So you've already had an incredible amount of good fortune in your life. And hey, you know what, though, I have a podcast with Gary gramley. So that's pretty good. And that's one thing that they Steven Ross can never have. Let's see. Let's see what direction this goes in. If he calls you tomorrow and he's like, Gary, I'll pay you $3 million a year to never record a podcast with Connor again in two years. Talk with me about current real estate topics. Come do my commercial real estate show in which I continue to try and vaguely threaten the American public if they don't come back to my outdated office buildings. I'm sure they're very nice office buildings. But people aren't going back, Stephen Ross, sorry, buddy. But you did. You looked into a coach, maybe a quarterback. I mean, I think this is the most optimistic you can be about to talk about. And again, people will point to the numbers and be 6 touchdowns that ties Dan Marino and Brian greasy and what do you think at four 62 I think was a totals for quarterbacks are, you know, you tend to put up big numbers when you fall behind. It's not necessarily a great thing to throw for 304 hundred yards. But this was the underlying stuff was there this week, and we'll see. He's got to keep doing this. You know, I do think that's spin out on the river Cray craft touchdown. I think that was a little bit robotic. I think that was a little bit premeditated. But it is better than what he's been doing in the past. And if this stuff starts to become a little more second nature for him, you're going to have something. You're going to have Jimmy Garoppolo east or south or whatever direct you want to talk about. Maybe a little bit more because he's young enough that you could probably project a little more improvement. But probably not in the Hall of Fame yet, but trending up for the first time in a long time. So loyal podcast listeners will know that we sometimes have Rohan Ned Carney who's our wonderful and an MBA writer and dolphin super fan on the show. We had him on just to make fun of him basically about the tyreek hill trade. All of which we thought was going to be fine. I mean, the dolphins were going to win 8 games and they were just going to be the dolphins. I promised Rohan that I would read the texts that he sent us during the zenith of this comeback. So I'll just do that now. I think you can oh, there's so much profanity. I mean, boy, I mean, we're already putting producer Shelby through the ringer tonight, but he knows where the beeper is. Again, this is Rohan very colorfully after the dolphins come back when which thankfully wasn't read over Gary's car AirPlay system with his kids in the back. Starting at four O 6 p.m. Eastern Time. I told you mother. Quote, I hate this trade. Connor orr and he spelled my name wrong. I think on purpose. Get the out of here, put me on the podcast this week. I dare you. And then I just said, Ron, this is hilarious. I'm just seeing this. I'm gonna read it on the podcast and he just said, please do. I'm very happy for Rohan. I'm very happy for the dolphins. I'm happy for everybody. Except Stephen Ross, really. That's the only guy where you're like, why do you get to, you don't get to celebrate here? You're never going to be happy for the owner though. There are no owners who'd really be super excited about. So that's just talking about me personally or no, just you general. The royal. You dear listener. We'll never be thrilled for the owner nor should you be. It's about the players and the coaches and the architects of the roster and all that stuff. I don't want to say it before we confirm it. We are going to have Rohan on the midweek show is the plan. Our people need to talk to his people and sort things out. If he would even come on at this point, you know, I think he's a hot commodity in terms of dolphin super fan. He might be busy all week, you know? I obviously say coincidentally his people are also Shelby Royce, our producer. So hopefully Shelby can work it out with Shelby and get Rohan in here. What do you think is going to be a harder get as a podcast? Rohan after this dolphins come back or Bill Simmons after the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004. It's going to be close, right? I'm looking forward to reading Rohan's book about this week two victory. That'll be a good one. I'll go to that signing. So we should address the ravens who also participated in this game. The big positive is Lamar Jackson had a huge day against the defense that has really given him some issues or I should say gave him some issues last year. He also torched that Brian Flores defense back in the 2019 opener. What went wrong here, it's the same stuff that went wrong a year ago. Now you have a new defensive coordinator in Mike McDonald. You have a lot of new faces in the secondary. The safeties were out there that you built this team around, but they had some backup cornerbacks in. And there were coverage bus. The second tyreek hill touchdown was definitely a coverage bus when you just ran by Jalen armor Davis and armor Davis clearly that The Rookie for their own pick. Clearly thought he had safety help and there was absolutely no one behind him. And it just ends up being a free touchdown. This was a weird Sunday for coverage bus and not to not to make excuses for the ravens in saying that they're part of some cosmic weird thing that's happening around the NFL, but this was a massive Sunday for coverage bus. And I feel like we get one of those. Doesn't it seem like almost symptomatic and we get one of those weeks once every like 8 or 9 weeks and there's just like 9000 passing yards and nobody seems to be bothering to play defense in any way, shape or form. Yeah.

"So I've said this before, I think all things considered the talent, the skill set, the position, the positional value, the way the position stacked, the other players of the position throughout the draft. Pound for pound, I think, quay walker is the best pick they could make in the draft if they can get him at 50. He's a good player. And I don't know that they can. For the other linebackers in the class. For what they need at linebacker. What do you bring to the table? All of that. He would be great. I love these first three picks, really. I do. I'm trying to tell if they add any future assets here. I can't put all moving around. He'll walk or bath as your defense is better. Those are three day one starters. I like Jalen amore Davis too as a potential upside corner on the outside and then we've talked about this. What much rather amor Davis and cordell flood? What much great, bigger green? And then a little fancy at the end, a little styling at the end with Connor Hayward and Jordan stout. It's a good polls, but players that the Patriots would like, this person has some research. This was well done. Did their homework? Yeah, this is a good one. I agree. Jalen armor Davis, long athletic head kind of a bumpy road at Alabama, but somebody wants season. Yeah, but somebody that I think is really, really high upside. The one thing that I would say about this draft and macro mentioned the age of the draft prospects, a lot of older guys, because of COVID, because it's just a wonky three or four year run for a lot of these dudes, like a lot of guys don't haven't played a lot of football, a lot of guys are older. It's just a weird, everybody's got something, right? Like everybody's either 25 year old rookie, Andrew bridge junior's only played 15 games in college, like there's always a little bit of something like that with a lot of these guys. In this class. It just seems like everybody's got just something going on with how many years they played or whatever. Jaylen on more Davis is another one of those guys I really like him. All right, one more, oh, well we got, okay, Jermaine Johnson's not making it there. I just don't think he's making it to 21. We talked about Danny gray. Tariq and Troy Andrews this is a good mock if it happens. I don't think it happens. I think it's a great mock of it happens. Here's the one I wanted to pull up a tire elam. Troy Anderson. Finally, somebody knows where to take.

"A little bit high Master chief tried to throw one hand of couldn't reel it in. That's one Justin Fields would love to have back Why Davis out There is a block with Kat, it 2nd and 10. Here comes the blitz. Field steps up throws deep into traffic, and it's been complete, really broken up by Garrett Wilson along Our side won the left sideline. Because better position was Brian Branch, the true freshman poised to pick it off, Aaron, listen, really broke up that play that little slot fade. Looked as though the ball was under thrown pretty considerably by Justin Fields. Now just five of 14 throwing the football. You gotta wonder if those ribs were affecting his accuracy. Marcus Crowley, who's not even listed on there, too deep isn't running back down the right field who steps up against the four man Rush dumps it off for Crowley. He has a catch, but attacking immediately from behind by Christian hairs. For a short game at 27 Yard line. Maybe 28 now time out, has been called. Believed by Alabama or is it a flag? Stop the play. It is a flag. It was a flag Alabama was trying to get Player off the field. It looked like they might have had 12 on the field. He didn't get there in time. It's just a matter of whether it was 12 or 11 that was trying to run off. There's no foul on the play for too many men on the field, the 11th player who ran off It's what it looked like, because Ohio State had a guy that was uncovered some clearly a miscommunication by Alabama. Good job by the officials cleaning it up Jalen Armored Davis of backup defensive back spinning this island. He was still in the field in a snap. If it is the referee, Brandon crucial. Apparently, they played that down with 10 men After he run off you can do that's not always a good idea wouldn't recommend it. Is drew Christmas Punch. Still playing time for Alabama to score more senior punter takes a good snap steps into it. On drives it high and deep. Dante Smith backpedal. 22 avoids several men picks up some blocks near sideline across the 35 spun around and down near the 40 yard line. It was Cody Simon and Dave attacking for Ohio State, but a nifty run back by Devante Smith Problem back 84 for a touchdown against Arkansas this year. No, no Game, said last week, 11 days ago in the semifinal. We're just not gonna pump the ball to Devante Smith 19 Yard return. Four Devante into your point, Greg Way, said Early on, Justin feels that it could have a big night for Ohio State. He's two for his last nine. And that's just not gonna cut it. Several of those rose way off the mark. Not even really giving his receivers an opportunity. Ball on the 40 left hash mark in here Has Mark Mack Jones out of the gun for man rise, They set up a screen to the right, Harris. He's across the 45 50 that's inside and gets taken down from behind by Josh Proctor at the 45 Yard Line of Ohio State. Another great call by Steve Sarkisian. No worries about him. Being distracted in his last game is offensive coordinators. He gets ready to be head coach at Texas and to me, I think we both agree. That's a great higher for the Longhorns question. He has a step ahead of everything. Ohio State's doing defensively at the moment. 205 to go in the half Alabama leading 28 17 in Buckeye territory again. There's a linebacker puts up the middle Jones and other screen technology Harris right this time, well played by the boxes. He was bounced out of bounds by Jonathan Cooper. After a short game gain of about three they were down to 1 55 to go in the half. Home started doing a lot of books is now man. Steve Sarkisian, Countering the screen passes. He's got to do something right now. Mac Jones, 21 24 to 77. Clearly they can't cover Devante Smith. He already has nearly $175. He split. To the left side of the field on second and seven Jones steps in the pocket. Deep down the middle Open man is divine tastes more touchdown. He was behind the linebacker. Tough bordering drop back and this time to run with Smith. I guess there was some sort of zone coverage didn't work. On Devante. Smith has his third touchdown of the night. His trap catch. He has 215 yards. They were not even a halftime yet just amazing. Throw right there from Mack Jones, identifying that zone coverage. Cover three. You get your best receiver lined up with the number three. He's crossing the field from left to right. We throw on two yards outside the right hash with nothing but Green grass in front of the Heisman Trophy winner he is putting on a show here in the first half of this football game, poised in his really the best performance of his career in the national championship game, will write her dad's The extra point. It's 35 to 17. Alabama had scored 35 points or more in 24 straight games. That was the all time FBS record longest such streak. Was snapped by Notre Dame in a semifinal when they settled for 31 points and 31 to 14 win over the IRS. They made sure they got to 35 tonight. They did it in less than a half. It's a large part because Mack Jones and his accuracy downfield, but there's been absolutely nothing that Ohio State's done so far to limit the van to Smith's impact in the game of shock. It's been 10 days. You know, this guy's the best player in called football, He can't continue to play zone and not have an answer for some of the priest that motions Knowing that that's gonna be impossible for your defenders to line up against. It's. It's really been a performance for the ages. So far from Steve Sarkeesian, disappointing one that we've seen from the Buckeye defense. It's been so sound of playing well of late..
