Is MLB's Wave Of Injuries About To Get Even Worse?
"So you know heading into this sixty game, just sprint of a season, what was the expectation around baseball as far as pitcher injuries were concerned, they're definitely wasn't expectation that injuries would be up this year. We had trainers inside baseball and outside baseball pitchers being worried about the start and stop nature of shutting down and then starting back up again when they would normally be midseason form and then just not knowing how much the pictures were doing in their own time and there's There's even a question of liability of how much you can tell a pitcher to do because what if you tell them, they have to do since we're throwing program and then they contract the virus while they're doing that. So there was this weird dance of like we want you to stay on top of things, but do only as much as you can and please do something, but we're not telling you to do something. So everyone's sort of saw this coming well, so now. Two and a half weeks into the season what has been the reality pitcher injury people might think be up over time. It's been fairly steady for the last ten years except for this year. Basically right now, three times more pitchers have been injured than the average year and twice the worst year on record in the last ten years. So we're talking about the second day of the season until the eleventh day of the season, and it's up three times. We saw the closure in Toronto Giles, the starting. Starting, pitcher in Chicago Lopez. Ver- lander, we're starting to see more and more injuries plus we all the payroll he wants to say, it's just kind of the ramp up and the slowdown, and the fact that we didn't have a real spring training. Those things are true and that's probably a part of it. But the other thing is also true I. Think the pictures, some of them are throwing harder because it's a shorter season. You see jake degrom who already through really hard now sitting like ninety nine. News after the fastball away and quickly it's. Ninety, nine miles now, some serious fair. From the ground when we started tracking velocity in a real way of and around two thousand and two, the average starters. fastball was eighty nine miles an hour flash forward to. The average fastball for starting pitcher right now is ninety, three eight and the party. You throw the closer you throw to your maximum personal maximum more stress. You put on your elbow on top of that. There's a reliever usage problem right now, relievers are getting half the winds in baseball. They're pitching half the innings. They're pitching more innings than they've ever pitched starters are coming. Coming out in the fourth inning now, and that's putting more onus on the relievers who the short ramp-up wouldn't have meant as much relievers. But Twenty relievers are now on the deal right now, that weren't on day two. So I think the relievers shouldering the burden is part of the problem too.

Trump allows some unemployment pay, defers payroll tax
"Two weeks of negotiating congressional Democrats in the White House could not reach any agreement to help those American families who are struggling just to put food on the table at. This point lawmakers have no plans for further talks president trump who did not attend those negotiations and spent a long weekend at his golf resort. In New Jersey said yesterday that he would bypass Congress to sign executive actions addressing pandemic relief including asking the federal government to consider halting evictions Deferring Student Loan Payments Reallocating money. So the governor's could partially replace the extra federal unemployment benefits that expired last month and temporarily suspending the payroll tax but already, there are lots of questions about how effective those actions will be and whether or not they're even legal last night one Republican senator criticized the president for Congress's role with quote unconstitutional slop.

How President Trump's False Claims Can Affect Society
"And our politics lead follow up from the president's false claims about corona virus continue to spiral. When he told Fox News that children were quote almost immune to the virus facebook deleted the video from trump's page, and then twitter temporarily suspended the trump campaign's ability to tweet. Now, C. N. N.'s Jeremy Diamond reports. The president appears to be out of step with his own White House health experts on vaccines, forecasts, and more. Another day another case of presidential corona virus misinformation. Today president trump suggesting without any evidence that a vaccine could be ready by election day. MOM optimistic that it'll be probably around that date. I believe we'll have the vaccine before the end of the year certainly, but around that day. Yes. I think contradicting government health experts who say a vaccine likely won't be ready until the end of the year at the earliest. Earliest by projection, which is only projection, is that somewhere towards the end of the year, the beginning of twenty, twenty one, we will know whether we have a safe and effective vaccines. Trump's claim the latest wishful thinking from a president who has repeatedly made false and misleading statements about the pandemic. It's going away. Now, it'll go away things go away. Absolutely, it's. No. I minded. Doctor found. She also contradicting that prediction was long does you have any member of society? Any demographic group WHO's not seriously trying to get to the end game of suppressing this? It will continue to smoulder and smolder and smolder. and. Then there's the president's false claim about the corona virus and children. The fact is that they are virtually immune from this problem and we have to open our schools. I'm talking about from getting very sick. Their immune systems are very, very strong that very powerful and they. They. Seem to be able to handle it very well. I get the sense that maybe the president doesn't doesn't know what the word immune means between two hundred and fifty, three, hundred and fifty thousand children have been infected by this virus. Children may be a little less likely to get back did and we don't know how likely they are to spread it others, but they're not immune from the disease. No one who hasn't had his immune from this disease facebook and twitter removed the video of trump's false claim about children to avoid spreading misinformation with twitter. Even briefly freezing, the trump campaign's twitter account. As for the campaign today, the Commission on presidential debates rejecting trump's request to schedule eight fourth debate early next month writing three ninety minute debates work well to fulfil the voter education purposes. The debates are intended to serve and stating they are committed to the schedule of debates. It has planned. Trump has claimed an earlier debate is needed because of early in the mail in voting this

"My boy seth under soon. Shout out to south. But that record that record sounds. Flipping Bananas Dues. It's so it's so inspiring to just like ads. Like just like such a great amount of music. Within our genre coming out, it's it's it's very inspiring to. Hear this and then to be in like a practice truman. Use some of those songs as as inspiration. another Chicago bands highwire put out an amazing single yesterday. A Jam. They had already a couple of times. It's. So it's so good. I. I saw the posts about it, I still haven't i. Feel terrible saying that I haven't been able to listen to it yet. It's all good. It's worth a listen. It's. It's super good. The broadside record though what I love about, that is the ups and downs. Of that record it brings you to these big bold. Very full. Moments in a song or maybe it's a whole song and then it brings you down very nice and it's just got this amazing flow in the production is amazing. You can obviously tell that seth and broadside spent so much time on that album. And obviously with I saw him posting about it on social media. I, could tell just from his post said he spent so much time on it too. He was. He was definitely really hyped. Yeah. And so it's it's no wonder why the record turned out. So amazing. So. And so was your late joyful latest single pilot light bring. Bringing it back to joyful. So pilot light was just released. What last week? Yeah last week or the week of or. Yeah. I. Think it was two weeks ago, was a two weeks ago already. Can't can't remember anymore man I know a-. Corona. Virus. That Corona virus brain on so. was pilot light recorded with seth to or who was that done with all? We so joyful recorded that with. A Guy Need John Terry. Who is okay. He's a good friend of ours. He's done. He's done a few things with tiny gyms as well That's he's. He's our dude. So. Yeah. He's. He's done all three of the A-. Of the joyful tracks thus far. And what what is I was trying to figure out what highlight is about. I still have yet to figure I love the song, but I was trying to to China get some. Get, A. Topic from it so. So, how did how did the song come together and what is it about? What's the story of the song? So we. So originally, when we started the band when Andy and I were just I champion the two of us together That was the first song that we wrote together. But. We must have gone back and changed the whole. Damn. Thing. Twenty Times. So it it's just a big. Pain in the ASS. Just. because. You weren't agreeing on how things sounded or what was. So it's like you know when you start a ban like you're Kinda just trying to figure out. Kind of what direction you WanNa go in and what SORTA vibes they're looking for so. I don't know. It's like we jammed up the first time in its out at one way, and then we China started getting more. More like upbeat rock with it. So we changed it again. So it was A. It was an ordeal to save face. Yeah. Can that can? So it's just like you. You wrote, you'd write the song. One way in you're like now, that's not the direction we want to go, and then you just start from scratch again, that kind of thing. Eso, like it would be like getting together one I we would work on it for a couple of hours. We would demo at that night and then we would. We were both like wake up the next morning and listen a taxi each other. Again, I don't know how I'm feeling about it an when will. Came into the picture. It was kind of the same thing in the me just. Through trial and error just working on it, and so eventually, we just settled on something that made us. Super, inspired and happy and. That is the. Song you here today. And it turned out. Wonderful. Well. Thank you. Yeah, sounds fantastic. Anyone who's anyone should give pilot light by joyful. A Nice listen today. How about many lessons about that? Several, just put it on repeat. One. Time. Two Thousand Times. As many. Yeah, as many. Listened to that song as possible. So if I came to you. Jake. And I said I WANNA learn drums. What would be the first thing. You would tell me or let's say you're teaching me like I've always been interested. I've dabbled in drums here and there it's. It's been some years now but but if someone came up to you and just you know talking about drums and they wanna start playing like, what's the first? Step of. Of being drummer and getting. You know, well, all the. That's a good question I mean although. All the great ones say, just learn your your rudiments, which are just kind of the basic. Sticking patterns that you can use around the drum sut. But they say, if you could learn the single stroke, which is just Alternating hands. Right. Lift right. laughts. Your double strokes, which is bright. Right left or reverse and your pear dentals which are right left. Right? Right. Left. Right. Left lofts if you can learn those three and get them down, you can pretty much. Do Anything. Did you saw pay? Bills. It. You say payer details. Yeah. It sounds like something flanders from the Simpsons would say. Get your. Deadly do. Really. How can we really? Oh, God. Yeah. Is Tiger Woods about to make a putter change?
"Talked again, we talked a good amount about him. He looks great. There's a lot of positive thoughts about his chances this week he warned in Oh five. He won here I think that he never shot higher than sixty eight and then in two thousand, nine, the President's covers here at harding park he went five Oh and so he has good history here he is still the. Reigning Masters Champion. Ugly, Fifteenth. In the world, some are trying to point. So some negatives like he's only played four competitive rounds in six months. I'm not focused on that I. Don't think he gives a shit about that. He showed up to Zozo championship last year in Japan and it felt like we had seen him play golf or any decent golf in months, and he's won that tournament in Atlanta. He showed up to the President's cup. We were there. We were physically there watch the entire thing. Play the president's coverage has several the best players in the world, their best player, the President's Cup in a landslide. So Tiger Woods smile and yet focused I like his chances this. I think he's come a long way since Monday and a lot of people's minds in that. All is incredibly exciting. On. Monday because. If we remember in the last podcast, you said, he really had no chance. That's true. Well, said, he's the favourite. Video and a you know with the weather and everything else that I would write this low on his list Jimi play whatever rig said because it wasn't that wasn't what we said and it certainly wasn't when said he was literally what I just you in you in the New York Post or two peas in a pod newer post tweeted out. Tiger Woods needs a miracle this week at the championship it was like what the fuck is going on and you know rig says similar points new. York Post. I said tiger. Woods is the favorite I said that on Monday show Tuesday show Jake will find that but I just ranked course and the the fact it's fifty five fucking degrees and narrow fairways. Low on the list of tiger woods majors coming up in the next four five years. It's not that hard. Of course, is not the art of course, I gave Frankie thumping already park last night. On the game. So it was like I I I could go out there right now in wooded. So the overall. Well I you know. I didn't realize we were GONNA play a marathon session of golf club twenty, nineteen I looked at the time we're finished up three and a half hours. My back was sore. I couldn't feel my feet like it's not built for endurance I'm just not built for endurance but I smoked you. At harding. Park. So I'm not too worried about art course conditions. By the way, we're not just a heads up just while we're talking about it. We said we were GONNA stream tonight, Thursday you're listening to it but we didn't realize that the coverage goes so late. So we will not be streaming tonight, but we will doing Tuesday Thursday next week. So be on the lookout for that. Last Tiger related thing new putter. About the new potter, he's got the Scott Newport. I think it's like the two point. Oh it's the one with the different weights and couple of different reports about it. Some saying he's definitely putting it in play other saying it's GonNa be a game time decision he. According to Steve Stricker, Tiger really likes it. It's a little longer in length with have been over as much. We can practice as putting a lot more which makes a lot of sense So that would be a good thing for the back and then another aspect of it is that apparently it's got adjustable wait we have heard for decades now tiger. Could just couldn't get the speed right or you know other Greens were little slower than I thought and I guess instead of having to make that adjustment in your fields or in your judgment calls in, you're putting in how hard it he can just tweet the weights and the Scottie, and that's what he likes because you know if the Green Bay speed them up from. Wednesday Thursday early days beat him up from Saturday Sunday whenever he can just kind of tweak the weights part of me going into this feels like well, tiger woods has won thirteen or fourteen major championships with that part of that is the elder wand. That is the thing that he flipped and spun in circles right in front of our faces that ad US bedazzled. Is the horn. Rocks. And any other usage of any other putter is not only blasted, but it's it's him searching a tim trying to find something which means he's not comfortable, and then the other part of me says, it's Tiger fucking. Would you give them a wooden stick? You give them happy. Gilmore's little hockey stick putter. He'll go out there and win because he's the greatest time you give them any driver persimmon would as a matter it'll just go out and win because he's better than everyone else and it doesn't matter So I'm a little torn on the whole thing. But it's Tigers putter. So everybody's talking about basically I'm just praying for success I mean, I do I think it's the right decision and adding and subtracting weights based on green speed that seems Like, if I'm just going to pick up a new tool every time when it's GonNa be different weight I don't think that I'm going to have much accessible but again, I'm not tiger so I'm not so keen on that. But Hell. If he's got confidence conferences key and if he thinks that's going to help them make more. Than you know play with a hockey stick or whatever. You just said you know so. Tricky one, but you were rooting for dagger. But I don't like I. Don't I'm not as doesn't work for me and I'm not a fan. I am not a supportive of the change I want that other potter to just pile up major victories and lurch. You said what I was GonNa say where changing the way day to day on a putter seems like a nightmare scenario I get that stegar woods. He's the greatest Golfer of all time but I need everything in my bag and again I'm not comparing myself to tiger woods but I need everything to be. One way just needed to be the same all the time. So messing with putter way just seems like a crazy idea but again, if he likes it if it makes him comfortable, that's GonNa give them better chances week. Thank God.
Controversial influencer Jake Paul's home raided by FBI
"YouTube star Jake Paul's home in Calabasas, California was searched by the FBI this morning, A search warrant was executed. However, it remains unclear why authorities searched his home all recently faced a backlash for throwing a big party in his Calabasas mansion were social distancing and masks. We're not a thing. So Paul also had a run in with the law in June, when he was charged with unlawfully entering and remaining inside the Scottsdale Fashion Square mall in Arizona when it

Progress slow as urgency grows on virus relief legislation
"Saw potential step forward in the congressional negotiations for another corona virus relief package after weeks of Resistance Senate. Majority leader Mitch McConnell said he will support an extension of the now lapsed six hundred dollar federal unemployment insurance relief every week that is if president trump backs it. The American people in the end need help. And wherever this thing settled. Between the President United States and his team, it have to sign it into law. And the Democrat. Not Significant minority in the Senate and majority in the House. Is something I'm prepared to support even if I have some problems. With. Certain parts of it. So, Jake Sherman, you cover Mitch McConnell you know him very well that's as close as you'll get to seeing. Mitch. McConnell concede there where he effectively said, okay, I know this bill's been sitting on my desk for three months. I've got some problems with the Democrat bill from the house, but I may be willing to budge on that six hundred dollar weekly payment. The original counteroffer from Republicans as you know had been two hundred dollars a week. So if he concedes on that point, get six, hundred dollars a week of unemployment benefits to people who need it. So desperately right now does that mean we're going to get deal here. Will I think Willie? We're going to get a deal at some point in the next week. It looks not promising, but it looks possible. Here's the catch Mitch McConnell's not a part of these negotiations right now also for the first time in a long time, we could kind of say that Mitch McConnell's view here is a little bit tangential to the overall negotiations. Now Mark Meadows and Steven Mnuchin who have been in the negotiations have offered four hundred dollars a week until December fifteenth, which also by the way is a very big concession for the GOP people. We actually in playbook this morning give a blow by blow full with good chock full of quotes from inside of the negotiating room. During a two and a half hour meeting yesterday in the capital illustrating that there are a lot of issues that remain open to get corona virus for leads to American people just to give a sense about how far we kind of our from virus package, they are bringing in the postmaster general today to talk to the negotiating team about the needs of the US Postal Service because there is such a divide on how much the post office might need to complete its operations. So again, these negotiations are very fraught they're complicated and they're dragging on almost two weeks in I. Think we'll have another week at least before this bill is passing both sides want to get a deal before Friday. Jonathan Does Jake says Mitch McConnell's not involved particularly here. Specifically, neither is the President United States. He's taken a hands off approach to the entire negotiation sending US chief of staff. Mark Meadows and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin into do the negotiating here. How badly does the White House needed deal? Does the president recognized that more than thirty million people just lost that six hundred dollar week check that's allowing them to survive for the last several months urgency from the White House on this. There is really the president in the last twenty, four hours or so has insisted he is playing a role in these negotiations, but we know that is largely not the case that he has need. Deferred it to his chief of staff and Treasury Secretary and Jake don't certainly don't extra job outlining how these negotiations have gone. But yes, there was a keen awareness that this is a president who's facing voters in under three months and that Americans are hurting right now and then beyond just wanting to have a helping hand to those who have suffered so much during this pandemic of course, there's an towards his reelection chances here, and if unemployment numbers can you to go with the economic slowdown, economic recovery slows down that only hurts his chances. They are trying to push here. The they understand that they're in a bad spot have not gone well, the each day that it drags on is a bad day for this president who again is trying. So desperately to pointed idea of a recovery economic recovery as opposed to how he has handled her barracks better said handled the coronavirus pandemic to this point.

Trump Sends Well Wishes to Ghislaine Maxwell
"In our politics lead now. Even some trump republicans trump supporting Republicans expressed outrage yesterday when President trump extended well-wishes to Glenn Maxwell Maxwell has been charged with conspiring with the now dead pedophile. Jeffrey Epstein to Sexually Abuse Teenage Girls. Trump and maxwell have been photographed together, but in an interview with CNN another former Epstein business partner said that the two knew each other well as C.. N. N.'s Pamela Brown reports for us now. President Trump's return to the briefing room took an unexpected turn with his response to a question about g Lane Maxwell arrested earlier this month on multiple charges related the sexual abuse of. Girls by her longtime companion convicted sex offender. Jeffrey! Epstein she has pleaded not guilty. I haven't really been following it too much i. just wish your well. Frankly the warm wishes for Maxwell are bringing renewed scrutiny to trump's relationship with her and Epstein who government officials say died by suicide in his jail cell last year after being charged with sex trafficking, some Republican lawmakers reacted to trump's comments on twitter. Saying this is unacceptably obtuse for a woman accused of the most morally depraved of crimes, and she is despicable and he needs to. To say that I've met her numerous times over the years especially since I lived in Palm. Beach and I guess they lived in Palm Beach but I wish her well whatever it is. Trump says he's known Epstein. Since the late eighties and pictures from the ninety show the president with Maxwell who became Epstein girlfriend associate, and allegedly his madame, one picture shows trump with maxwell and nineteen ninety-seven, then again in early two thousand at trump's palm beach property mar-a-lago with his wife. Melania, and Epstein another picture shows trump with maxwell. At New York fashion show, and then again with model Naomi Campbell epsteins one time business partner Steven Hoffenberg who's been eighteen years in jail for a Ponzi scheme told CNN today. There's no dispute. They knew each other well adding he liked her, and she liked him and a two thousand two interview with New, York, magazine, trump showered praise on Epstein, calling him quote terrific guy and saying he's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said he likes beautiful women as much as I and many of them are on the younger side. After I've seen was arrested last year. Trump had a different tune claiming he kicked Epstein now. Go years before. He was a fixture in Palm Beach. I had a falling out with them a long time ago. I don't think I've spoken to him for fifteen years I wasn't a fan. Prosecutors say Maxwell went into hiding over the last year as more victims came forward, alleging she learned them in and groom them to be sexually abused by Epstein alleged victim. Virginia Jufri has claimed Maxwell recruited her in one, thousand, nine, hundred, ninety nine, while she was a locker room attendant at trump's mar-a-lago resort, though she never alleged any wrongdoing by the president. And Jake. The comments at the president made about Maxwell caught some White House officials off guard now. He is expected to brief again shortly, so we'll see if he addresses this then.
Kanye West posts bizarre Twitter rant: ‘Kim tried to bring a doctor to lock me up’
"So Connie went on twitter tirade last night. Saying things like Chris. Stay away from his kids. He slammed Kim's playboy spread and he even said the movie. Get out is about him. Yeltsin claims that Kim was going to fly out to Wyoming with the doctor to get him locked up, so it sounds like Kim is trying to get him help, but these tweets which our now deleted did get pretty personal. How do you guys feel if you can? I mean how are you supposed to feel this entire thing is so devastating. I feel like this has been something that's been going on with Connie for a while now. Obviously, he's been pretty open about his mental illness, and the struggles that he's had with it in the past. It is very clear that he's obviously going through something. Obviously, we don't know if that means he's you know. Stop taking certain medications or whatever has gone on. On, but clearly he's in a little bit more of a manic state. I'm not a doctor so I. Don't know if that's the right terminology, but clearly clearly going there's something and as his wife and partner for so many years mother of his children. I mean I'm sure it's devastating for her I. Mean I know firsthand what it's like to deal with somebody who has mental illness and let me tell you something it is horrific. Horrific you are not dealing with a person that is a the right sound mind, so it's almost impossible to help them, and they feel like everybody is sort of attacking them in what he was tweeting about being locked up. It's like she's not trying to lock you up. She's trying to help you and get you WANNA. Pass right now to get you to your most Sane Self, so I'm sure it's dead the skating for her. What do you think? I mean if you haven't dealt with someone who has gone through mental illness, especially member. You really do not know the distance that you are willing to go for that person you know people ask questions like when is enough enough? But when this is your family member, you have go the distance and for people are forever, and when people are going through manic episodes. Is sometimes they will say things that will cut deep. They will say things that will hurt their actions Are you know pretty irrational at times when you have family members? Sometimes you just have to take a step outside of the situation and assess what's going, and sometimes you're able to realize okay. They were in the right state of mind. They were saying things that maybe they do not mean and and you're. You're willing to just ride it out with them for him. This is the father of her children. This is her husband who we know adores her, so I feel like she is going to do whatever it takes to help him and to get him better, but you guys. There is no simple solution. There is not sanction. This is a lifelong journey, so I think right now. The whole family is going through it. But also with Kim, you know she has to assess how she is feeling. Because as you are not well, then you're trying to fill someone else's cost. That is half. Empty your nothing for yourself so it also it just falls on. You know you need to assess how you are. You need to help this person, but it's going to be a journey. Be. A mother continued to be a mother to the four children. She also has to be both mom and dad right now, and I think that a lot of I mean I've gone through this personally, but you know like people with mental illness have a hard time taking medication because they do complain that it causes them to feel jake or less, creative or sort of a little bit foggy, and I think that obviously we know I've been a huge conde. Conde stand from day one. He's obviously a musical genius, and he's somebody that constantly wants to be in the zone wants to be creating wants to be putting out certain things and when he's taking stuff that makes him feel like he's not living up to that. Potential I can understand him saying well. I don't want to do that to myself anymore. But unfortunately what we saw last night with the tweeting is the effects of not taking care of himself right? Right one hundred percent I think if you look at the history of the Kardashian women and their relationships. If you look at chloe and Lamar if you look at Scott in Courtney. Even when those relationships were romantically done, they never gave up on those people we saw how chloe came to Lamar's rescue, and how Chris was behind her, and how the sisters were behind her to help Lamar get out of the spot. He's at so being someone like Kim. WHO's? WHO's a part of a family like that? WHO believes that wind? She has kids or this man. She is not going to give up on him even if she's out of this situation for herself, she is going to stay in this for kids and I. Think the most devastating part for Cam, which is also the most devastating part for me. Is that people on the Internet are egging this on and laugh about this man going through this manic episode? Nine might be saying things that cut deep and are very personal, but I think she can get over that. I think what's going to her. Is that people are sitting here in laughing at this man going through this, and that is going to be the problem,

"jake" Discussed on State of the Union with Jake Tapper
"Very concerned Jake we we are self sorting for a declining demographic a narrowing demographic of elderly people rural people are you still a Republican think about leaving the party I don't know I am a Republican I believe we have the better argument in the area of economic and business regulation but I don't think we have the better argument on gun violence Environment Florida Republican Congressman Francis Rooney telling me earlier this morning about his concerns with his own party Rooney is not ruling out backing it impeachment inquiry and he announced his retirement just yesterday let's discuss Amanda what do you think I mean this is this is a problem that we hear from other Republicans that the there is very little room in their party right now for any independence from President Trump Yeah and you see that playing out now Syria which I do think we've reached a breaking plant and Gulf feeling comfortable and able to criticize the President President because Congress does have a role to play in these decisions and president trump made aerobic decision to pull out of Syria out of nowhere and there's no rationale provided no briefings to Congress that I've heard about and they're responsible for these Asian so you can't be in the position where you're responsible for decision that you have no input in and let's bring in new CNN contributor commentator Congressman Sean Duffy thanks so much for being here congratulations and being joining the CNN family what do you make of what Congressman Rooney said. I respectfully disagree I mean if you look at the Republican Party winning union voters rural voters we're doing better than we ever have now if you want to say we don't Wall Mikasa in in New York New England in the West Coast of California Yeah that's true but in the middle of America we have to actually keep the Senate and we have so many house seats we are doing incredibly well swell respectfully disagree with with Francis and Colorado that's a state that president trump did not win cory gardner is a senator there who's running for re election is it true the trump is has expanded the Republican No. I don't think so jake I think anybody who's watched one of president trump's mega-rallies would pacific disagree with represented Duffy's characterization racial lines religious lines and so many others I don't think he's going to do well in Colorado he's deeply unpopular in our state. Let's turn to some of the Big News Jen Psaki I WANNA get your response came in only in exchange for those countries doing something about illegal immigration but then he did including from Congressman Rooney saying there was no quid pro quo well first of all it was complete malpractice to put Mulvaney out at that briefing and having spent eight suggesting that looking for political dirt on your opponent like Joe Biden or anyone else and doing that through diplomacy is normal it is not normal.

"Treats victims differently jake. We should also note that under his watch around the same time this plea agreement was negotiated. There were several other sex trafficking cases brought that resulted in much tougher sentences. Even though none of those had dozens of victims like this one did Kaitlyn Collins. I said the Justice Department. Thank you so much <hes>. Let's let's talk about this right now. <hes> A BARBARA COMSTOCK DOC <hes>. Let me ask you a question when you hear a cost to say the today's world is very different than the world of two thousand seven two thousand eight when it comes to victims. You've worked on anti-trafficking legislation. You worked with the Justice Department under both you know a Kosta is that true or is there more of an understanding of victims and different. I mean whatever issues he's talking about. Well over the past ten years when I was in the State House and in Congress we have passed lots of anti human trafficking legislation to improve the situation I've talked to dozens of victims and that's why I would ask and even beg that we focus on the women here first and foremost and getting them justice and Kudos to the reporting on this and then this is now being prosecuted again Epstein. There's all kinds of things you can go at him on financial things. How did he make money you know when someone's engaged in all kinds of activities like this? There's a money trail. That's probably criminal dot needs to be looked at. I would hope somehow somebody could freeze his assets right now so all of these young girls who were victimized by him who should not be blaming themselves that broke my heart to see that girl blaming herself for not coming forward about something that these predators due to that and that's the the secondary victimisation optimizations so none of these young girls blaming themselves they need justice. I'd like to see that Epstein financially bankrupted and then we need to Do D._O._J.. Congressional investigations of how this case was handled on the state and federal level. I think that there needs to be a lot that was the beginning of discussion today but there needs to be a lot more that goes into it but first and foremost let's focus on these young girls and getting them justice. I'm confident there's a lot more victims out there and there's a lot more people a new about things in procured these girls and who also should be brought to justice abby from your perch at the White House you have covered the president as he has faced allegations not from minors but from women and I can't say that they were treated with truant disrespect by the world and the idea that there's no victim blaming in twenty nineteen is completely preposterous for anyone who's been paying attention so it is a puzzling Caitlyn's point is really important. There were other cases at that time. I'm that were prosecuted so I think it's hard to believe that somehow. The world is so dramatically different. Yes we're talking about it more. Maybe we're paying attention to it more but victims face the same challenges today as they did then and <hes> and this administration the situation actually frankly has kind of a problem with this. This is the president who when he's asked about women accusing him of sexual assault says they're not my type and that's where they start on this issue and it makes it harder for them to have credibility on it in a case like this and I think out Sukasto was reaching for an excuse or some explanation for what happened <hes>. It seems that what's really going on here. Is that <hes> Jeffrey. Epstein is an extraordinarily wealthy powerful politically connected person. That's why he believed it was going to be a gamble a roll of the dice to take this to court as opposed to Satellite Ryan constable urged to to do this press conference by President Trump. Obviously he is trying to save his this job but who knows if it worked or not. How do you think he did? What I think the consensus that it wasn't so great for the fact that he couldn't answer Caitlyn's very important question? Would you still do this deal today means. He can't defend the deal. If you can't say you would do it again you you can't defend it and politically you know the question about whether he will resign after this or not or the White House will push him out. It doesn't seem like it's in anyone's interest to have him sticking around right. It doesn't seem like the White House has much of an interest in this story worry festering for them. Especially given the credible accusations against president trump a lot of most democrats are now on the side of calling for his resignation. He's had connections to Democrats which is going to be a political issue. <hes> going forward there eight Democrats that voted to confirm him when a lot of these facts were known <hes> and I don't what's what's in the interest for costas stick around and sort of you know take this take this level of criticism so I would be surprised if he's the labor secretary. I mean there are a lot of people who do that job. If you were advising president trump what would you tell him to do. Cut them loose now sir now now the Labor is came out in the press conference Labor Department. One of its many massive duties is to crack down on human trafficking enforcing some of these laws. Ah Barbara was talking about part of that enforcement is a fund that Congress set up to give grants to foreign countries where sex trafficking victims are coming from where they're essentially enslaved. This makes you proud as an American Mr Costa's justice secretary cost of the trump administration called cut that fund by eighty percent. He was asked about the press conferences well. Let's just Washington Congress. Put the money back in. It's no big deal when you have a record like that giving risk slap to a sex trafficker and now your job is to enforce the laws. Awesome Sex Trafficker Andrew trying to repeal the money congress is giving you to do it yeah. I think it's pretty good case you oughta go as Barbara's. This is a huge issue for conservatives especially evangelical community over the decades in it. It's been a bipartisan issue that we have worked together the other on and it please. Let's focus on these women getting justice because we've talked a lot about these guys you know in the trump administration secretaries come and go every week so you know I I think the real important thing here is how these women going to get justice. Everyone stick around president trump says he could no longer work with him and now the British ambassador is going out the door but major questions remain about the impact of what he said about President Trump..

"Internationally new details and reaction coming in on the ex school resource officer and former sheriff's deputy arrested today in connection to the parkland massacre. Scott Peterson faces eleven criminal counts including child neglect. Culpable negligence and perjury. I wanna CNN's Rosa Flora's in Miami and Rosa, the charges come after a fourteen month investigation by the Florida Department of law enforcement, some parents of the victims of the parkland massacre, weighing in what did they have to say some of them are going to Twitter and they're calling him a coward thing that he deserves to go to jail, my colleague, Diane Gallagher, God, this reaction from Fred. Gutten Burke's, one of the parents saying, quote, I have no comment at except to say rot in hell, Scott Peterson. You could have saved some of the seventeen you could have saved my daughter, you did not then you lied about it and you deserve the misery coming your way. Now jake. We're also learning more about how Scott Peterson was taken into custody. This is according to sheriff, Greg Tony. He says that Peterson was in BSO headquarters at a termination hearing when he was taken into custody and Jake, we have covered this story, extensively, you and I know that Peterson had retired. So we're all wondering we a termination hearing. What are we talking about here? Well Peterson is receiving about eight eighty seven hundred dollars in pension a month. Getting a fishery officially terminated by BSO puts that money in jeopardy puts his pension in jeopardy. Jake Flora's, thank you so much for that report. Appreciate it. The National League now in part of a move to make the president's former campaign manager pardon proof prosecutors want to send Paul Manafort, to one of the most notorious deals on the planet Rikers island in New York City. "But the other point Jake is that it really does to your point make make an also clear point, which is even in the office of someone who has been an advocate for women and women's rights and All People's rights. There's no office citizen MU from this kind of behavior. And that's something that we're going to have to deal with. And it is a sad statement. You have said that you think the country is ready for a president who is a woman of color, not necessarily you. Right. But a woman of color at the same time. You also talk very movingly and compellingly in your book and elsewhere about misogyny, sexism, racism anti-semite. Yeah. But square the circle how is the country ready for this? If this problems if these problems are still so prevalent, and when are you going to make your decision, I will make my decision soon. Not at this very moment. But I will say that we have to give the American people more credit, and we have to understand that the American public and the people of our country are smart people who will make decisions about who will be their leader. Based on who they believe is capable who. They believe has an honest desire to lead to represent to see them to be a voice for them. Even if they have no power, and those are the kinds of people who we are as a country, and so the pundits can talk all day and all night, and there's a lot of chatter about which demographic will do this or that it has been my life's experience that the American people are smart, and they make decisions based on what's in the best interest of their household their family and their community, and I have faith that in twenty twenty and in any other election that would be their motivation when they've. Vote. Do you think that people spend too much time talking about the fact that you were I wanna district attorney San Francisco first woman, attorney, general, California, first African American all all those trailblazing things you did these did they spend too much time talking about that. And not they compliments. I think that people talk about both. I I'm proud when people talk about the fact that I created one of the first reentry initiatives of any DA's office in the country when I was district attorney of San Francisco focused on first time offenders, and what we need to do to reform the criminal Justice system. I'm proud when they talk about the fact that I was the first attorney general to create a bureau of children's Justice focused on education understanding that there's a directed connection between public education in public safety. I'm proud when they talk about the fact that I was one of the first to focus on what we need to do around digital forensics and cyber security. I'm proud about all of my first and these two books also. Yeah, I know I children's. Second second for grownups for children's who are everywhere and the truths. We hold an American Journey. "He thinks maybe they could just ask your father for. More money, but they can't the president calmly said. I guess you're still not wanting to deal with the problem. So they're the Democrats are are being pretty clear. They don't want to have any conversations at all about the border about the wall about the wall until the government is funded. And and the Republicans are saying that the president will not reopen the government until he gets border security money that being said the president's offered to Nancy Pelosi in the situation room today was if you if if I reopened the government right now, will you agree within the next thirty days to border security that includes a wall Pelosi said no to that. But it's also not the first time that offer has been made in their last situation room meeting. The president made basically the same offer Democrats rejected it then too. So this was the second time around for that offer. And it's not surprising Jake that it was rejected by Democrats who've been saying from the very beginning. They just want to fund the government as it currently stands. They do not want to go into a protracted negotiation over controversial wall that they their members don't support and border security in a crisis. They don't also don't believe is the way that the White House. Describes it Jake or w Phil thanks so much. Let's talk about this all clearly things have taken a horrific term. It does seem as though Nancy Pelosi is closing the door to any wall funding as part of any agreement, and I wonder since there is some history for big comprehensive immigration reform in which included some wall funding or at least border security funding. Why she didn't just take that opportunity to say we would be willing to talk about anything if there were a big immigration reform package. But right now, we're focused on on opening the government think this goes back to trust. But and because of both sides on trust each other. There is no trust between any side of of the different factions. And I'll tell you being on the hill today, they are dug in on either sides while the president's speech wasn't exactly a resounding success a did rally. Julie House Republicans where you had a lot of members waving some may still vote with Democrats but talking to. Them coming out of that meeting today. They were ready. They were ready to hunker down. And for the shutdown to continue until they get what they want a ticket. Listen to the house minority leader Kevin McCarthy. Just now speaking about how the meeting went. And the way they have displayed and there'd be aviator is embarrassing to me. I tell the Democrats gets back into the room. Let's not leave less solve this problem. Just as president said, it doesn't even take forty five minutes were here. And we want to work vocal your response. Yeah. I don't think we should take for granted that President Trump for the others being entirely honest to characterizing exactly what was your point. Is right. Look, there's an appropriations process they will be homeland security Bill the that there will be amendments in order in committee and probably on the floor, and they will get to vote on whether they want to have five with seven billion for the wall at one point six billion or zero maybe secret Pelosi could have made that clear President Trump. He doesn't know a lot about how congress works, but the Republicans do control the Senate they can pass the five point six and set it over to the house..

"The status of the victims how are people doing so jake we've reached out to the law enforcement folks understandably there on the scene in very rapidly developing situation so we don't have more information any more information than you or ready been reporting i do know the reporter phil davis who's been tweeting you just cited his tweets he's great reporter he does have the sort of crime beat as well as many other beats and so i think that's the most timely information we've course have out of this awful awful situation this is part of an office building the capital gazette offices are on the first floor i've been there they have the same kind of lay out many news offices do varies open setting so our hearts and prayers go out to everybody we we've gotta find a way to end the violence another hopeful tweet from phil davis was that the editor of the zette fellow by the name of rick hutzel is fine i can't confirm that i only know that that's what bill davis reported and or another reporter at is that is sent out so we're getting our information at this point from those tweets as we try to confirm the details with law enforcement do you know anything about what manner of firearm was used senator i do not all those kind of details or things we're still waiting on you know we had this earlier terrible shooting at a maryland high school not an animal county but in saint mary's that was great mills high school and so you know maryland has been really working hard at the state legislative level and in partnership with all elected officials and leaders try to aggress the issue of gun violence let's get the facts here and see exactly what happened but as we follow the situation we're we're going to be reaching out to law enforcement for the authoritative report and i can understand why they don't wanna put anything out there and till they're confident the details no that makes sense senator in the last few years a lot of news organizations a lot of journalists have had to get extra security as the environment against the journalists and journalism has grown hostile obviously we don't know anything about the motivations for this individual for this shooter but do you happen to know anything about the capital gazette security was that you described it as as a as an open office setting was their security that you that you might encounter at if you went for instance to to a major metropolitan daily or or was it pretty open jake i i haven't been there in the last year or so so i don't know what the most update uptodate security situation is but what this was a cer bourbon office building it's not a place that you know has been on high alert and you know my recollection is you know the it doesn't have a high level of security at the building and you know once you get into the into the offices of course it's a very open setting my understanding from the tweets of phil davis is the shots came from outside that again my only information only source there's reporting phil davis who is very good reporter center kris van on thank you so much for calling in we appreciate it if you get any more information we would love to hear it obviously we're very concerned about brothers and sisters at the capitol today yes indeed and as you said jake it's an incredibly polarizing environment we don't know the details here but it is really important every take safety measures into account thank you senator appreciate i wanna bring brian stelter on the on the phone i a brian earlier i read a tweet from somebody reporter who grew up in the napa area who said the capital gazette is kind of newspaper that he drew a picture of his dad when he was a child and sent it into the capital zet and they printed it on father's day that it's that kind of community newspaper what can you tell us about the paper thinking back days at the state house and annapolis sometimes the only reporter you're gonna see covering committee meeting or covering an event of the state house is going to be a reporter from this newspaper this is the kind of newspaper the local community and the state of maryland depends on their multiple papers that are printed under the capital and get that names.

"There is a parent of one of the deceased students who said that her her daughter had had told this particular student the shooter the alleged killer time and time again rebuffed his his i guess asking for a date and she's talked about that but in terms of any true motive anymore information you know police are still investigating all the journals that he's written looking through computers and telephones i'm sure the governor said he wants to do something about this that prayers are not enough he's announced round table conversations coming up early this week about potential solutions to mass shootings school shootings here's what you said about possible answers on friday take a listen what can we do now one if you're a parent and you own guns lock your guns safely away your children should not be able or anyone else to get your legally own guns it's a serious issue it's one big step that we can take if that's how you feel sir should that be law yes well in in many cases there are there are laws depending on the states and and i'm sure there's some federal law regarding your culpability in a crime using a gun if it was your gun or if you own a gun also there've been civil suits filed against those who own guns when someone got their guns in the past but without question jake several things need to happen one we have to start at home a gun ownership and i'm a proud gun owner that comes with responsibility of gun control in your home be sure that your kids and grandkids or anyone who might have access to your home cannot get your guns a number two jake.

"So that's going to go to this point but i think jake that's going to be insufficient i think the american public deserves more than just a legal resolution as to what went on your there needs to be a political resolution there's a difference between that which is illegal in that which is clearly inappropriate and that that second category is kind of thing that could be developed at the political level by the second political branch of government the congress and i fear with the event particularly the last 48 hours we're not going to get that yesterday we learned that the british by christopher steel of who worked on that trump russia dossier on behalf on behalf of this opposition research group that was being funded by democrats steel went to the fbi in july two thousand sixteen not at the behest of this opposition research group or the democrats but because the research he was doing about any possible tyzzer compromising of trump or the campaign by the russians so alarmed him he went to the fbi and here's a quote from a glenn simpson who is the head of a fusion gps which is the opposition research firm quote chris said he was very concerned about whether this represented a national security threat he thought from his perspective there was an issue a security issue about whether a presidential candidate was being blackmailed what's your reaction to that so we've got a couple of examples now of genuine friends of the united states members of the five eyes alliance and australian ambassador and a retiree from britain's mi six having concerns about the wellbeing of american democracy and they followed their conscience and made their concerns known to the appropriate organs of the united states government that's about as far from a political motivation as you can get and that was the instigation of what we're seeing now now as it been politicized simpson oh my god yes but the origin of it comes from these genuine friends being.

"Then i have bad news for you because it's only going to get colder and not just for dc but so many areas right now it feels like minus two in minneapolis two in buffalo and minus eight in boston but we have another wave coming in so you'll see those temperatures remain cold in fact if you wake up tomorrow in boston it's going to feel like minus nineteen minus eight on saturday chicago the temperatures are only going to get colder as we go through the week and the reason for that is the next wave of cold air it's going to push back down into the region the thing is it's also going to dip pretty far south in fact places like dallas may not even reach the freezing mark on monday atlanta may not even reach 35 dan ah on monday so again this is going to be a pretty widespread area of cold air and this bitter cold isn't just uncomfortable it's dangerous for a lot of people what should people do to avoid risk rates so the best thing i can say especially for the folks who have a new year's eve celebrations outside again we talk about the temperatures potentially in new york about eleven at midnight with the feels like temperature in the negative numbers layers that's the best advice i can give you layers upon layers upon layers because this is likely going to be the coldest one they've had since 1962 and the thing you have to understand is when you are outside your body naturally has a layer of heat on the outside of it expands a couple of temperatures but when that wind comes indiana that takes away that layer of heat so the more layers you can put on the better it will be for you if you are outside allison chinchar thank you so much better and earn andy in anderson them me that's all i can say that's it for the lead i'm dana bash in for jake tapper turn overture briana killer in for wolf blitzer in the situation room.

"Don't think this profound could not have been done with out exquisite presidential leadership been spinner year of extraordinary accomplishment for the trump administration all friends i mean i look at these people it's like were warriors together while this is the president who promised on the campaign trail that americans would be doing so much winning they would be sick of it i he is winning now at the question now remains what does this mean for 2018 they have big plans for other agenda items and this victory finally gives them a big boost going into this next year jake raw fill up at the white house forest my panel is here for more so here is the basic argument from the white house this is from the twitter feed of sarah sanders quote democrats waste of the year tearing the president down while the president built america back up booming economy millions of new jobs isis caliphat in ruins record number of judicial appointments obamacare individual mandate repealed historic tax cuts america great again i mean that's the argument they have a pitched amac well look the president's approval rating is hovering around thirty five percent and twothirds of the american public according to the cnn poll don't like this tax belt so not sure their argument is working think the problem they have that a blissful today no doubt be looked at their faces they were waiting for this moment but tomorrow they going to wake up and realize that the american people don't like this bill because it's a corporate tax cut and that and people realize that and recognize that that's an accurate understanding of the bill it is hard for them to campaign on that and tell the difference story because that's what the bill is the show the tax cuts for middle class are short term they're not permanent it also means that premiums will go up because of the individual mandate going away for middle class families and what we found in two thousand nine when we had the making work pay tax cut which was not a big tax cut but neither is this for the middle class is that people didn't really feel it and they weren't really voting on that so when they realise these other pieces it's going to be continued to be problematic as.

"Jake to the generals and to ashes point regarding the secondary market you want to hear something that is absolutely baffling is this there are a number of states in this country that do not require a citizen to report a lost or stolen firearm let that sink in for a second so a firearm falls into the hands of a bad guy and you're not compelled reported to the police so we can't tracked that down we know there are somewhere between two hundred seventy million and three hundred and ten million weapons in this country almost one for nearly every man woman and child and for there not to be a law on the books that requires a citizen compels them to report that it is insane after each of these events we always search for some type of legislative action that might have made a difference in a mighty admitted difference in this case maybe maybe not but down the road the next time we have an instant like this where weapons were stolen or lost or tosh in the generals point sold on the secondary market and we have no record of that we're gonna come back here again jaekun have the exact same conversation i wonder if you think that one of the issues here that we don't talk about enough as a society is domestic violence this is hardly the first time that somebody involved in one of these horrific shoot sorry was in the middle of a domestic dispute we know that a outside a different church in california the same day sunday a man shot and killed his estranged wife and her boyfriend in september in texas a man broke into his exwife's house during a football watch party opened fire killing eight people omar mateen the pulse nightclub shooter also accused of beating his wife osher whoa a society focus enough on this.
