AJ's Initial Thoughts on Election Night 2020

"I mean, who would have thought? We'd ever miss hanging chads. So this show is a combination of famous bits and politics is a bitch. I can't believe we have to go to bed. It's 1 o'clock in the morning here in Las Vegas. My throat is horse from screaming at the TV, screaming at Donna brazile, Chris Wallace, Jake tapper, a number of other assholes that I just can't John Roberts. I can't say. And some fucking boring woman, they put on the Fox News channel, along with Martha McCallum, who's the wolf in sheep's clothing and Brett Bayer who, listen, he has his one hour time slot on Fox that's the most boring fucking show, you ever want to see. You know, I know he's steady Eddie, but he has no panache, no pizazz, the team that Fox put together to bring us this election night special, the biggest election of our generation. What a fucking dud, so I'm a horse. And I'm a little worse for wear, but this is an embarrassment. Not to mention there was some very dubious behavior. If not criminal behavior, and we're going to find out in the ensuing days, you know, we heard for a while that Pennsylvania was going to be a pain in the ass. But did we expect it to be this fucking annoying? you guys lock up and go home? What kind of fucking union is this? Are you kidding me? The presidential election hangs in the balance and you're going home. Did we expect Arizona to apparently apparently I should say flip like we're being told it flip? Is this the ghost of John McCain sticking up Trump's asshole? Sure seems that way if the numbers hold up. Wisconsin we don't know yet. Michigan, we don't know yet. And the Secretary of State and Pennsylvania said they could be counting ballots till Friday.

How Are Blue State Governors Getting Away With the Damage They Caused?

"To get to a question here. Daniel from Oklahoma, Charlie, why is it that these blue state governors are getting away with all the damage that they did to locking down society and keeping children masked? Love the show, and I want to get involved with turning point USA. Well, thank you. For that, and I love Oklahoma. Yeah, Jake tapper actually said something similar to this, believe it or not, fake Jake on CNN, where he said he is shocked that there hasn't been a national conversation about the damage that has been done to kids because of school closures and virtual learning. It will go down as one of the worst mistakes ever done in the history of western civilization, not one of the greatest evils, one of the biggest mistakes locking down an entire generation to prevent them from a virus that wasn't a great threat to them at all. And yet we created all these other problems because of the regime of fear because of scientism. You see, scientism believes that science is the only form of knowledge. That there is no morality or ethics or philosophy, but it's just science all the time. And as we have said many times on this program, you can not get your morality from a test tube. Scientism ends up being necessarily totalitarian. And science then becomes a tool of oppressing people.

Andrew Klavan on the Status of Courage in a Post-COVID World

"Status of courage after the last two and a half years of COVID, what's your diagnosis? Oh, it was. You have courage left? Oh, it was embarrassing. And it had a cause, the cause was materialism, the lack of faith. When you have these guys, when Donald Trump stood up, this is one of my favorite moments because I have this kind of morbid sense of humor. But when Donald Trump got COVID and he stood up on the balcony, took his mask off. The news media went nuts. And there are two words to describe women, the word womanly, which is what you look for in a woman, a womanly woman will she walks into the room, men straighten up, and they stand up. But woman ish is the opposite of that. It's kind of like macho is for men. It's kind of this over emotional hysterical, fearful idea. Well, if the press was not woman in that moment, I've never seen it. And there were all men. There were all men going, no, be afraid. Trump said, don't be afraid. Don't let it dominate. Be not afraid. Jake tapper said, no. Be afraid. I just cracked up because I thought, no, that is what they've sold us for these two years. Andrew Cuomo, there's nothing worse than death. What's worse than death? Of course you have to give up your dream and close your business and closure. Because otherwise, it's death and death is death. Well, you know, some of us believe that no, there are things more important freedom is more important than life. I mean, you're willing to die to stay free. You're willing to die to protect your family. You're willing to die to stand up for what you believe in if it's important enough. So once you believe the death, there's nothing worse than death and death is everything. You're a coward by nature. I mean, you have to be. It's only logical. And that's what they've been preaching. And of course they're preaching it. If they steal power by creating crises, what good is a crisis if you're not afraid.

Data Proves Joe Biden Wrong About Being in a Recession

"Joe Biden announces what's the problem ladies and gentlemen We're not in a recession He says this yesterday to Jake tapper who gives him a softball interview Softball interview Cut three mister producer Cut three Go Should the American people prepare for a recession No Look they've been saying this now Every 6 months they say this Every 6 months they look down the next 6 months as he was going to happen We don't have to look 6 months Let's look now The producer price index is 8.5% higher than it was a year ago this time Last month there was 8.7% higher than it was a year ago at this time In other words we have right now major major inflation and it's not going away I don't even care what the experts have to say And they're all saying it's here I don't care And it is fused with a recession We're in a recession It's called stagflation as they say over and over and over again And tomorrow the consumer price index will come up while the January 6 committee is holding hearings

Danielle and Jessie Jane Duff Discuss Biden's Recession Attitude

"I'm delighted to welcome our guest today, Jesse Jane Duff. She is a gunnery sergeant of the Marine Corps retired. Jesse, thanks for joining us. Hey, so good to be here with you, Danielle. I'm excited. Throw it at me. We're ready to roll. Oh my gosh, great. Okay. Well, today we're going to be talking a lot about Biden. So Jesse, I know we were on the women for Trump tour together. You were on veterans for Trump. You were co chair of that. So I know that we both love Trump, but I want to start out by asking you a little bit about Joe Biden's recent interview. In an interview with CNN, Jake tapper asked Biden, he said, the JPMorgan Chase CEO said the U.S. is likely to enter a recession in the next 9 months. Bank of America says the U.S. could start losing a 175,000 jobs a month. Gas prices are on the rise again, should the American people prepare for a recession, he asked Biden. So Biden said he doesn't believe there will be a recession, and people keep saying this to him every 6 months in his presidency. So he says, quote, if it is, it will be a very slight recession that is, we'll move down slightly. Quote. But Jesse, what is this exactly mean with Biden saying he does expect a slight recession and why do you think he has this nonchalant attitude about this? So I guess you could say that the first thing is is that it's very confusing to ever figure out what Biden means. Correct? Because we don't know where this is ever coming from. Is this what his handlers are telling him or is he essentially trying to be dishonest or is he so confused that he truly believes that he has a robust economy still, and we're not in a recession. We've had two consecutive quarters where the economy has slowed down, which death by definition. We're in a recession now. For him to be in this type of denial, simply demonstrates that they don't want to be honest with us. And they want to reshape the narrative so that those people that actually want to believe this Kool-Aid that they're being fed are going to just sit back and say, oh, okay, well, Joe Biden says it's not so bad. I find it very hard to believe that anybody following politics, Republican Democrat independent, or otherwise, is going to buy into this.

For those who work in and around the housing market, the effective aggressive move by the Federal Reserve had been swift and severe. It went from feast to famine and everybody buying to turtles low. Realtors, mortgage brokers, appraisers and construction groups say they have left they have lost as much as 80% of their revenue since the fed started raising rates in March. Rates for a 30 year fixed issued mortgage at 6.66% and nearly doubled since then, now at their highest level since 2008. Home sales quickly plunged. Now, that doesn't mean you lost money. "I watched last night until the last out. And I didn't think we're going to be cold. Didn't think the guardians were going to be coal. And we didn't. And you can't beat Cole with one run Stephen Quan, rookie gets his first home run in a postseason play. He'll be there many, many times over the course of a long career. But four to one scored a total of four runs in it. The guardians have scored a total of four runs in three games. They got a better bullpen than the Yankees, they can come back. Do not worry about being on one, got Bieber on the mound tomorrow night. I will say, however, I woke up more than a little bit alarmed. I don't think anybody watched Jake tapper and Joe Biden last night. They're watching the Yankees and the guardians. But when I went through the show prep and I see what Joe Biden said about the lead story, which is the war in Ukraine. There's a lot of news out of Ukraine. It's escalating. Suddenly, rapidly, and Joe Biden is clueless, here he is talking about Putin, listen carefully, cut 28 from his interview with the president's interview with Jake tapper last night. Do you think Putin is a rational actor? I think he is a rational actor who's miscalculated significantly. I think he thought you may recall, I pointed out that they were going to invade all those 100,000 or more troops there and no one believed that he was going to invade Ukraine. So you are somebody who, you know, you seem like you can get both sides of the blue check Twitter and blow sides to Twitter just go and this one with such talent. They were just raining bombs on you because you had the tenacity and the temerity on the audacity to say that the Mar-a-Lago read was egregious. And it looked egregious. And you, by the way, you said that on Sunday, and I want to give you credit here because you said before we even had the John Solomon report out that it looked like they were trying to comply with these with these requests, then we get the John Solomon story last night that has the whole email chain that yes, they were trying to comply, but what they didn't realize was The White House counsel was coming in and they weren't invoking executive privilege and all of these things that the legal team bought they had were not being invoked for the first time in history. Judge Reinhardt himself comes out and says, unprecedented. So from where I did, it looks kind of like you were exactly right when you were talking on tamper about that. Yeah, well I'm glad those documents have come out recently because I know PolitiFact was trying to contact our office and dispute this idea. And of course it's indisputable because look, if they had asked repeatedly that Trump returned certain documents, then they would have said so by now. They would have used that in the justification for the raid just in public statements. So I think it was a pretty safe assumption. And then you look at further context. We're back in June, but they carried dozens of boxes out of Mar-a-Lago. But with the folklore operation of the Trump team and look, that's how normally things should be dot, all right? Mistakes are made, staff is backing up dozens of boxes full of documents. If you were Trump and you had a letter from Kim Jong-un or a letter from Barack Obama, which were some of the things that were taken out, you would probably assume that you're allowed to have those that I would seem to me like a personal memo or memento to have from your presidency. So you have to have some elements of good faith in dealing with these situations.

By the way, Ron Johnson, don't forget Ron Johnson, Wisconsin. I want to ask you about your Republican opponent in the upcoming Arizona Senate election. He says Democrats want to quote change the demographics of the country. He is openly embraced Donald Trump's election lies. He has the support of a lot of openly racist notorious individuals. The Arizona Republican nominee for governor says the President Biden isn't a legitimate president. She says she wants her democratic opponent in jail, the Republican nominee for Secretary of State in Arizona. He's a self proclaimed member of the oath keepers. You hold the seat once filled by John McCain, who is a conservative, but he did work across the aisle. He was very critical of voices like the ones I just mentioned, not them specifically, but that kind of what he would call Looney Tunes. Wow. I mean, listen to this. That's something to interview. That's a tongue bath. He's going up there. He's doing the work for them. He's doing the work for them of market on the market. Yes, Jacob, you know, so you get tapper out there to say all the negative stuff and then Kelly gets to come out and pretend like he's this moderate. It's a great game. It's a great scam. But you got to understand Republicans need to understand this. By the way, I do upload say Ron Johnson over in Wisconsin. You need Wisconsin because these are the states, the same key states. You look at the overlays, Georgia, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, in all of these are states that you need for 24 net. Well, I was going to say, first of all, Jake tapper and the definition of corporate propagandist example a definition is Jake. I mean, that was ridiculous, but he really is the norm. Obviously he's not the exception how most of these corporate propagandists are. They're out there to actually fight for one team, not the other. They're not interested in finding the truth or asking hard questions. They're interested in amplifying a certain narrative for their team. And I think once you start to realize, I don't even want to call them mainstream media anymore, Jack. Their corporate propagandists, when they are seen as such, you understand the game they're playing.

"Back in 2000 and ten and 11, there was a bombshell story. The Internal Revenue Service. Announced, not announced, but through the government accountability office and oversight from Republicans, they were targeting conservative groups. Outright targeting them. Let's start with when Jake tapper actually used to be a journalist talking about this story and cut 69 how the IRS scandal was targeting Tea Party groups. Play cut 69. Lead another national league distrust of big government writ large and of the Internal Revenue Service more specifically. Well, those are cornerstones of the Tea Party ethos. Now it looks as though the IRS went and proved their point for them. And the president, well, he says he did not know the IRS was singling out conservative groups until the news broke. I first learned about it from the same news reports that I think most people learned about this. If you've got the IRS, operating in anything less than a neutral and nonpartisan way, then that is outrageous. But I've got no patience with it. I will not tolerate it and we'll make sure that we find out exactly what happened on this. Lie, lie, lie, lie, barrack Hussein is a liar all the way through. He approved the audits. They had multiple meetings in The White House and this was one of the reasons the Tea Party movement lost some of its momentum. They got audited all throughout the country. They should. Okay. And Chris Murphy said, of course, Republicans don't like the inflation reduction act. It eliminates tax loopholes for billionaires and corporations. It cuts profits for drug companies and oil companies in order to lower drug costs and energy costs Republicans don't support those things. Thank you. Oh, John tester, this was before they were shamed into finally passing healthcare for veterans with cancer. Okay. Well, we've had hearings for the last year and a half on this. I'm very concerned that these justices have crossed a line that no one believed would be crossed. That they would purposefully create the impression that they would not overrule settled precedent and that it was not only deserving of do weight and the importance of precedent, but because it had been reaffirmed that it deserves more weight and then go ahead and overturn it, especially with the reasoning that justice Alito makes in this draft opinion. It's outrageous. And so Jake, back to the point. I think we should get rid of the filibuster. I think we should vote for our values. "CNN plus has cratered, which is just phenomenal to see the cratering and the collapse of CNN plus, this is just another sign that what the propaganda that is being spread is not popular. And I said this a couple of years ago as we started to get into podcasting. I said, and I was only wrong on the timing, I wasn't wrong on the essence. I said to my our team Andrew, I said, I don't think people realize how fragile information consumption is about to become. Meaning, I can tell you exactly how many people are downloading our podcast. I can tell you how many people are watching our videos. I can tell you how many people are emailing us and we track those things. You see, we are always constantly Hawking the measurables. Whereas it's important to note and to realize that CNN or a lot of these other channels, they've never really been big on how many people are actually watching them or care about it. In fact, they say, oh no, the numbers are all wrong. We're fine. We're very popular. Well, if people don't want what you put on TV for free, why on earth would they give you money for it? Like cut 24. Yeah. Just went on that. They spent $300 million. They got 10,000 subscribers. Imagine the hubris of thinking that something that people don't want for free. You see, I live in the world where I discern objective, they live in the world of the subjective, where constantly measuring how many people are downloading. How many people are listening? Where are we at in the charts? What are our ratings? CNN is like, oh, we're a multi-billion dollar machine. It makes you wonder how fragile really is the current media

"The German Olympics, I think in the 1930s that right Connor sort of and then I think we boycotted one of the Soviet games if not mistaken. We definitely boycotted one with the Soviet Union in the 70s or 80s. I'm trying to think out loud here. I know we did. I'm positive of that. And so there is this disagreement and Biden is now says it's a diplomatic boycott, meaning basically we're not going to send we boycott in 1980. That's what I thought. Somewhat right. And that was to the Soviet Union's intervention in Afghanistan. Yeah, what kind of countries invade Afghanistan? Who would do such a thing as that right? So ridiculous. Who dare would invade Afghanistan and stay there for 20 years. What kind of people would do that? Who would give weapons to the Taliban? Terrible people we should boycott their games. I see a, I see it both ways. But the deeper point is let's say we fully boycotted the Chinese Olympics. That is not even close to what we should be doing with China. We should say, no more products from China, 100% tariffs, no more children get to go to U.S. universities from the CCP if you attack a cyber again we are going to retaliate no islands in the South China Sea, you touch Taiwan, you will feel the full fury of every type of military technology we have. That's what it should be. Internet privacy is extremely important. New news out shows that Google has been colluding with the federal government to hand over your data if you might have searched something wrong into the search bar. So what are you doing to protect your search history? Well, this is why you need ExpressVPN. Using the Internet without ExpressVPN is like going to the bathroom and not closing the door. It's in fact even worse than that. It's inviting someone into the bathroom, which is really weird and creepy. Internet service providers know every single website you visit. ISPs can sell this data and information to add companies and tech giants, who then use your data to target you. ExpressVPN creates a secure encrypted tunnel between your device and the Internet. So your online activity can not be seen by anyone. It says easy as closing the bathroom door and fire up the app and click one button. I use it on all my devices..

"That this is the direction he's going? I understand why the president's there and I certainly understand. His frustration, But the guy you know, he's proposing rules as if we're in a country that doesn't have this misinformation problem. Do you know what I mean? I mean, Jeff that he he wants to govern a country other than the one we have, which has, you know, a political party, the Republican Party that too many members of it are embracing. Anti science You mean all of those black men and women in the cities of New York and other places are members of the Republican Party, and we didn't know it. My gosh. Someone fired the recording secretary. They're doing a crap job. What is he talking about? What mythology is Jake Tapper inventing this fool of a took Was it took Full of too cool of a took Yeah, it was. It was the Lord of the Rings reference. So I got and I loved it, And I use that from preventing myself from using other four letter words that Jake Tapper, that's how describe him. That's how low rent and low class he is. Because none of this is true either. There's not an anti science conversation going on in the Republican Party. That isn't to say that there are some Republicans who might say, Oh, I'm not taking that vaccine, you know, attracts your movements. Well, you have been able to prove that doesn't track the movements, so believe it that I don't think it tracks the movements people, But let me give you a little bit of this total failure. On the science. Here you go. Disney, Tyson's food and even Fox News. The bottom line. We're going to protect vaccinated workers, some unvaccinated co workers were going to reduce the spread of covid 19 by increasing the share of the work force that is vaccinated and businesses all across America. My plan will extend the vaccination requirements. That I previously issued healthcare field Already I've announced we'll be requiring vaccinations and all nursing home workers who treat patients on Medicare and Medicaid because I had that federal authority tonight. I'm using that same authority to expand that to cover those who work in hospitals. Home health care facilities. If you say to me That you need to get people vaccinated. To keep the or so that you have to get vaccinated to protect vaccinated workers from unvaccinated workers, right. We're going to protect vaccinated workers from unvaccinated co workers. That's what you said President Biden. Well, then, Jake Tapper should be all over your stuff because you don't understand the science. The vaccine, which is really an inoculation will never stop Covid from existing There will be no eradicating covid. You have the best doctors and scientists at your disposal, and you don't know this. "That's a little different. Then whether or not Newsmax is beating Fox in the ratings. Some makes sense. Tony Katz, Tony Katz Today 833 got Tony 8334688669. First Newsmax carried Donald Trump's event there in a In in Ohio. They carried that in full And so by carrying that in full, they got 1.9 million viewers on cable and through streaming devices. Other things they got 1.3 million. So they're saying They had three million people. Well, that's hugely helpful. And being able to create More viewership. Fox did not carry the event in four. I don't think anybody else did. Anybody else have that size and scope? When they take a look at demos of 35 to 64 year olds. Newsmax had cable impressions per minute of 483,000 compared to Fox of 409,000. This is not Conversation of whether or not news maxes out doing Fox. That's not what's happening. It is, however, a real conversation. About how Newsmax is here to stay. They have an opportunity. To build the audience they were able to take from Newsmax and did not give up completely. As we knew from Fox's coverage of the election. They were they lost people. People were angry. But as at least we all Sydney when we certainly discussed here. Those people and fair amounts. We're going to come back. The question was. Could Newsmax keep some of them? And I would say to you, Newsmax kept Whole bunch of them. And they've been able to grow at it. Now. They've made some moves as of late. It's funny. Usually I do a hit with Newsmax around this time, so it feels weird. It feels weird not to not to be doing it. I needed to take some time and some things I have to do this week, so I don't think I was. I don't think I'm on these Max this week, but I mind twice three times a week. Which is, you know, I greatly greatly appreciate Newsmax recently brought on Hogan Gidley, who was the former deputy press secretary in the Trump They brought on Eric Bolling, who, of course he knew from Fox. He knew from the five and he's getting a show. And then they brought on Jenna Ellis. Who have actually appeared with on Fox before she was one of the lawyers doing the recount. With Rudy Giuliani and they brought her on as a contributor, and I looked at that. And I said, Now is this How you solidify. An audience of growth. The answer is, I don't know. Not 100% sure. With with Newsmax. I think that there are great opportunities and I still think there are great struggles. I like that there is a competitor. To Fox because competition is good. There's a group out there through through next are called news Nation now and I've done I've done work with them before. They see themselves as more news oriented. Then the opinion side of things, but there aren't a lot of homes next to our big big company. And they're going to try and be a competitor. These are all very, very good things. Now compare this to what's happened to Jake Tapper. In the ratings. CNN. Jake Tapper. When you go back to January. He was getting 2.8 million people in his four p.m. hour. From May 31st to June 23rd 708,000 viewers. Losing out to Neil Cavuto, who's over 1.1 million If you take a look at his second our Jake Tapper on CNN, 5 to 6 P.m. Eastern time 799,000 viewers. We'll call it 800,000 cause we're generous folk. That goes up against the five, which averages 2.6 million viewers. I mean, this is bad. What accounts for the loss. Well, two things number one people who may be bothered by Fox have somewhere to go. And to do without Trump. You're not interesting. You're not interesting. As a matter of fact, Jake Tapper, you will never interesting. The one or two things you did right specifically talking about, Uh, Louis Farrakhan. And your latest interview with Ilhan Omar, which I'll share coming up. Those things notwithstanding. You took the opportunity to be the journalists of CNN. And you threw it all the way. We were Never expecting anything from Brian Stelter. Brian Stelter is a chump. Not because I'm name calling, but because this is what is Chris Cuomo. Self indulgent Eagleman. I called Don lemon is basically Chris Cuomo. What's the real difference in those shows? Jake Tapper could have been the guy and going back in the day he had He had moments where he was the guy. And what did you decide this? Jake Tapper was so unkind to me on social media that I will admit that when I see his failings I don't shed a tear. I say well, Be nicer to people Be more honest about the news that you're covering. Stop trying to get in the good graces of the people you work with. But this story about Newsmax news. Max is not beating Fox. That Newsmax is growing. I think is excellent, excellent news. Speaking of Newsmax, there is one of They're reporters. Having a conversation. With Lori Lightfoot. The mayor of Chicago and the mayor of Chicago wants you to know that everything in Chicago's going just peachy keen is that we're actually seeing a decline in homicides and shootings. Yes, sir. You. You were. How Sorry we are concerned. They're all.

"So that was great. It was good fun to talk to jake tapper. He's a great guy and the only pity of it was. We didn't get time to talk about his phenomenal collection of mugs. That he has on his desk and look we'll obviously just have to send him our own on the holy mouse immense monk. What walmart be before we get to any kind of mench mug or mental ward. We do have the business of chutzpah. Who's your choice for. Could spur of the worst. Of course. let's spoke trump cement every time. The sort the popped up for me this week. Jonathan is a decision by a student group. In one of the oxford universities colleges i believe your alma mater sir. Yes this is different college and this makes an enormous difference on. It's world of difference. I apologize so the decision of the different college from the one. The jonathan went to in oxford university to remove a portrait of queen elizabeth the second because of her colonial history. This is not about the queen per se. I know that you're not a fan of the monarchy. I should remind our listeners. Episode nine hundred to speak of that link but more on the principle of just removing with doesn't seem right now i don't wanna get into the whole con- cancel culture discussion goal. Maher on you but just ask the question. How far do you wanna go with this. And what are you trying to achieve now. I can't believe that. I'm quoting pierce morgan. Or on the same. Side of history. As bruce morgan on this. But this is these not forget it. I'm not gonna put purse. Morgan but you know just everyone knows your woke guys. We got it. Let's come chutzpah award nominees. I mean you know it's a it's become a big facet front page news and everything but really. This is a tiny tiny thing. It's a group just to the graduate students of maudling college for some reason. They voted to get the picture of the queen up seven years ago. Eight years ago now decided. They didn't want it there anymore. And it's become this call celeb- at is just an example of how intense the culture war the used to be an american thing now all over here But yeah it's become international news for modeling college. Nevertheless i think they are aged out for the hood. Spur award by something which an who listeners will party wants to keep an eye on which is a by-election a special election caused by the election of british member of parliament for a new job. As a mayor of the west yorkshire region so her constituency batley and spend now has to elect a new member of parliament. Normally this would not be news on on holy. It is fair to say the reason. Why is this time is independent. Candidate george galloway has decided to seek this seat and george galloway is pretty well-known because it used to be a member of parliament for the labor party. He broke from labor over the iraq war. And i think it's fair to say he's one of the two or three people here in this country who is most strident in their opposition to israel he is a really trenchant anti-zionist others would use a different words and trenscient. The reason why this matters is he is seeking that seat because it has a very large muslim british muslim community and it is just possible. Given how close that. Cds between labor and conservative didn't if enough muslim labor voters defected. George galloway galloway could give the seat to the conservatives. I think it's of interest on homelessness. Because i'm not sure..

"I mean being londoner or being in washington. We talk a lot about the difference between the jonathan being in london and when all of the antisemitic protests happening. And and you being in dc us being in tel aviv. It's a different. I think jewish experience just the core of it is different. Although i have to say after nine eleven and then there were you know. And and and the threat of islamist terror against jewish targets. I haven't thought about security. Wal walking into a synagogue. I am not thought about it since before. Nine eleven and now you know. I don't know where it's gonna come from or if it's gonna come but it's something that i always think about their. I mean when i grew up there were not. There wasn't a copper security guard at the synagogue. When i walked in. I mean there never was now. There always is always and just tell that since since two thousand one it. Just tell me about the relationship with the those feelings and events when a unfold in in the middle east. I mean i can say that british jews have now got it down. They know to sort of brace themselves When things violence erupts there because they know one way or another. It's going to be hard for them whether it's colleagues at work asking them to explain slash defend what israelis up to whether it's social media and so on though it's always just a excruciating period for dice produce. That's the experience. I think in european communities in britain. But he's like that for cheating. American jews when they hear the violence is underway in israel. Palestine thing right here. We go again no not until this conflict. I mean in my my from my perspective. And from what. I've heard it's not like i don't recall it happening in two thousand fourteen now of course for a few weeks. I was in israel But i don't recall it happening in two thousand fourteen that there was an explosion of antisemitic attacks. I wanted to maybe move a little bit from the topic of anti semitism to the fluffy topic of the trump ears. And ask you. I mean you've become for so many viewers in the us outside the voice of reason and decency and integrity. I actually had a friend who went said. We should take the seal of the president. Take eagle replace it with jake tapper all throughout all those years. Is there something that you think the you did that was that was too far. Oh i mean. I'm sure there are some tweets here and there the you know going back I i wouldn't have sent them. But generally speaking i really tried to criticize policies not people and draw the line and draw the line where i did which were i think. It's okay for journalists to take a stand for facts and truth and for decency. But i don't think for me for the kind of anchor i wanna be. I don't think it's appropriate for me to say. And i think this is the right approach for this policy. I think this is the wrong approach for this legislation. And i think i pretty much adhered to that. I i can't think of an exemption. I it's not to say that i think that was perfect. I don't and i could go through a litany of mistakes. I made that were that were smaller words. I use that. I wish i hadn't been generally speaking. I think i pretty much kept to that. I wanna ask you something about your other life. Because you and i have something in common which is on the side. We moonlight as writers of thrillers. The devil made hunts. which is your new one is located in the nineteen th world of nineteen sixties hollywood and so on holy listeners have heard me talk before about my late father and i am wary of going on about too much. It's macauley who are pro peace and want to basically dismantle all the settlements in the west bank obviously bus on that side to say nothing of the openly gay head of meretz party needs on hold and mansoura bass would feel more comfortable with the party. I think they might need a vote. A majority vote just so one of them can go to the toilet. I making that joke. Just but i mean really this is going to be very interesting. Coalition to try and govern. They will try to say we're going back to normalcy. We're trying to work. Every minister will sit with their own portfolio. And try to move forward. There's not going to be a lot that they are going to agree on. I was having a conversation with somebody involved in one of the parties to this coalition. And i asked the question to them and they said look everyone. This government wants the economy to thrive. They want these security of the country to be assured and i said yeah of course. Everyone wants that. That's motherhood and apple pie. The question is how do you get those How'd you reach those ends What are the means on that they. Obviously i think while the disagree so easy. The government of change which delivers no change. Because they can't and don't want to do anything that these are going to be the big questions but first they have to get over that initial hurdle and just get the votes in connecticut and we have offered what she's set for eight pm. Israel time on sunday shirt and we have to point out that the ultra orthodox will not be part of the government for now which means that maybe the Anyone part of the reform and conservative moving. The united states could look at this government. Say maybe these are the areas where change can be made because on that everyone agrees on including the taliban it's of course maybe things like the quota compromise etc that might happen but again not too many changes a friend of mine from the united states asked. Why isn't the palestinian state part of the coalition agreement. I said well. If it was part of the agreement there would be no coalition agreement. So you know not a lot that can agree on. And i think a lot of israelis are worried because that's our status quo right. Being worried will israel's enemies iran hezbollah for example hamas be tempted to test the new prime minister and see what he well. What will do kind of throwing us back to the eh omerta. "Channel twelve in tel aviv. And i'm jonathan freedland of the guardian in london and we are unholy to jews on the news from russia podcasts. I'm this week. We are three because we will be joined by cnn. Legend jake tapper for this edition of unholy indeed. Only the best for you. Jonathan and we are truly looking forward to that conversation but maybe something interesting to cover before that anything in particular comes to mind. Well remains this battle. I'm going through between my rational brain. My superstitious brain because the rational brain says that there is going to be a new prime minister of israel imminently and then superstitious brain says. I won't believe it until. I have a photograph in my hand to prove it's real. Okay so can. I talk to the rational brain first grade. What for i mean. This is momentus week or a pivotal one or a significant one. Pick your own adjective. What for many israelis depending on your world view is either a dream or a nightmare is becoming reality because some time between eight pm. Israeli timer or nine. Benjamin netanyahu will be replaced and just think that drama right. A man who a decade ago wasn't even in politics and this extraordinary changes chain of events will head up a surprising coalition. You really will be the unexpected prime minister on the bennett He needs to go through a confidence. Vote in the knesset and then be sworn in as israel's thirteenth prime minister he will of course replace the man who's longest serving israeli prime ministers twelve years consecutively. More than ben gurion more than margaret thatcher more than tony blair And someone who has become for better or worse the pillar of israeli politics. Now just think for a minute. Jonathan i mean anyone enlisting into the today. That's eighteen can vaguely remember a different prime minister. I dare say you can probably vaguely remember a different prime minister so historic days in this country for sure and you talked about the picture now what you will see on sunday and i wanna point you to that moment again. Between eight and nine pm. Israeli time will be after neftali. Bennett is sworn in as prime minister. When his government's passes the confidence votes and everyone will leave the knesset. You will suddenly see that. Neftali bennett has the security detail of prime minister. Already beefed up these days. One must add but the security detail of prime minister and suddenly benjamin netanyahu with a markedly less secured. I think that will be the moment that even you The emotional part of you will realize that that is that has happened. Yeah now that is huge that moment where the sort of power visibly drains away from one person to the next in the british system is so brutal because the removal men and women. I suppose literally do come as the election returns accounted. And if there's a change of government you see the van sometimes much in the past literal drawer up to the front door of ten downing street and you have that moment in the american system you have that moment one minute past noon on january twentieth and power shifts from one to the other and this will be the israeli equivalent..

"The show. I'm your host rob shooter. It is cheers special guest today afrin garrett vogel from z one hundred who he normally having a monday was not here yesterday but he is today. Aren't we lucky. Hello garrett are you there yes hello ruptured yes. It's one of those weird weeks where you know memorial day weekend gives some people a three day weekend so your week starts on tuesday but you go into the going on monday but tuesday. So you're always going to be a behind. Short is the theme song. I think to my life but it does doesn't it did actually be so. I hope you all had a wonderful memorial day. I hopefully to you paid a little time and thought bipolar days. Really about but show. Yesterday guarantee i did a solo. Show again this one. I don't have you or anyone to talk to. I do too because then people will realize that you could do this all by yourself out of a job. Everybody i wasn't alone all the noughties or here. So thank you for listening to yes. Today's show. I know it's a little rough when i'm by myself. It's hard to sort of laugh and talk to your son. See your critic your your own critic shooter. Your you weren't as bad like don't apologize for being by yourself you you honestly you are. You are very good. I want you to look in the mirror go. You're jumping gusset my friends. What time is it is yes to. The friends are responding to matthew perez health. Questions if you remember. They did this. Big reunion clearly. Something was a little off with matthew. Perry what they're claiming. The official announcement is that he had dental surgery. Just before the show will leave that there were not going to die to him. But that's the official fischel response now. People associated with the show are being asked about it. I bet this is bugging them. Garrett they did this reunion this big special to really advertise. The hatred has bought the rights to stream the friends catalog. They spent over four hundred million dollars. They wanted us talking about friends. We all sorta but we're also talking about matthew perry so now the director has had to come forward and said quote. I loved working with him. He's brilliant funnier. Great one liners. And i feel lucky to be in his presence. Also to and cutting brian. Who's the show's executive producer. He's also sort of being forced to address matthews health to saying all that i can say is don't have anything to say about that. He should have stopped there but he kept going. He went on to say except it was great to see him. I think he's very funny on the show but yes i also think he's okay. He seems stronger and better than the last time i saw him. That sounds weird and excited to be going forward. The friends themselves have not spoken is about it but my sources tell me that concerns like what we saw. Is the tip of the iceberg. What you see actually air guarant-. That's the best footage. What we say is all the footage. Right they edited out and what he was like backstage. I'm told it was a little concerning. Well it's it's interesting to. I even asked a few dentists friends of mine. Yes i have four friends. That are all dentists. So it's it's weird trying to pick the dentists going to because i don't want to offend anybody but if if you watch if you watched the friends reunion on hbo max's. I did when i. I tried to watch it on on thursday night my hbo crash just like it did sunday night. When i tried to watch mar- Mayor of this town. I finally watched it. You could tell his team matthew. Perry teeth were like beyond white like almost like obnoxious. Why like you get a tan. And your skin's glowing his teeth. Were glowing there. Were so white. So my i asked my go. Is it true like you get some tea. They go yes. He definitely got a whitening. Did you get any type. They can't say because they weren't in matthew perry's mouth but they could definitely tell that he definitely got some type of whitening to go along with whatever else he had done to his mouth. Why would you do it before big reunion when you're getting paid almost two million dollars to sit down and have some fun. I don't know but the other thing about it too ruptured. I think you can agree. People who are so attached to the show or just shows in general or or people on tv. They want like trapped in that moment of time they want they want matthew perry looking like he did seventeen years ago. You know but we all get older you know. Some of us go one way. Some of us go the other some of us stay in the middle of the road in terms of weight height. you know speech whatever. The case may be late to be judged on ten years from now what i will look like or even to if you look back when i was ten years younger you do change. It must be very hard to grow up on television now. Another theory too. Which i think is quite interesting and Showbiz friend of mine told me this. Is we actually get to see the other threatens quite a lot so jennifer. We see all the time and caught two lisa little lassen. The guys are a little bit more. private matt. Leblanc has his own. Is it on network show. You know what i mean. So he is. David trimmer is doing very well Behind not behind the scenes but like more on. Hbo and showtime and shows like that and not prime time. So everybody's doing their own thing. Jennifer aniston in a while. And you suddenly see them. It's more shocking. I don't get to see. My dad often. Because in britain so when i go back each year also to see them i do notice the changes i really do and my brothers and sisters who see them only so not just the physical changes quite as as much also. I think this is what we're trying to get to here is that matthew has been very honest about his past struggles particularly with substance abuse. Wouldn't see said that he literally doesn't remember three us of filming friends. It was all a blur to him and he also opened up to about his anxiety. That he's four mccafe's mates didn't really seem to know much about. He said that he wanted to die when he didn't get a laugh from the studio audience and the other cast members. Just great no that. They didn't know that it was funny. They were they. Were talking about one specific. Take where matt leblanc was coming into central perk and he would trip and Every time you would trip the audience would laugh and that just got to matthew perry as they. They showed the clip. Where on the third take matthew. Perry just out of nowhere wasn't in the scene jumped into the clip just to not ruin the take budgets to get a bigger laugh out of it. "Dan shaw bell in fewer than ten minutes. My goal is to extract a basset vides in the world's smartest and most interesting people might ask them just questions my guest today. Cnn host and author jake tapper. Jake started his career as a campaign press secretary before transitioning to journalism. And is now the host of take the lead with jake tapper on cnn aside from hosting a weekly tv show he's authored several books including his latest novel. The devil may dance. We discuss everything from the book to his time. Management strategies and early career in this podcast episode welcomed. Five questions jake. It's great to be here. thank you so much. Well it's good to have you here. I want to start off with earlier in your career. What experience did you gain as a press secretary that helped you transition to become a freelancer and a successful journalist. I was a press secretary very briefly like for a couple of years in my early twenties. I wasn't very good at it. And i'm not particularly ideological or partisan but i will say seeing how government actually works from the inside out seeing. How much is about alliances. And power and compromise is very informative and really honestly. I recommend if you don't know what to do with your life and your young go into government just to see what it looks like and how it works and then you will. That will inform you forever. You want to do next. Whether it's journalism or being a lawyer or lobbyist or politician fleeing that world altogether yeah. I think that's great advice. Because it gives you kind of a perspective of the nature of our economy and world and how it operates which trickles down to everything. We work in live. And how do you manage your time between covering politics for cnn and writing fiction bucks. If you want to be a writer then you need to write do is when i have committed to writing meaning. I have done the research. I've done the rumination of what i want to write about. I commit to writing fifteen minutes a day every day. 'cause everybody can find fifteen minutes a day whether you're eating lunch or right before you go to bed or quiet period in your day you can commit to fifteen minutes and if that's all you do by the end of the week you got an hour forty five on your belt. It's really just a commitment to yourself the same way that you would commit to doing. Sit ups five days a week. Now that's good advice especially like reflecting on my writing career. But i think doing it by our can be beneficial to because it also puts a little bit more pressure on you. Hey if i only have a half hour hour every day. I'm going to try and maximize that time. As i reach these bigger goals it may be one chapter in two weeks or a month. Yeah and also because writing is not necessarily about page numbers about problems to solve especially for writing fiction. And you have a dilemma. You're trying to figure something out. A goal of i want to write. Three pages. wouldn't work so much for me per se as much as fifteen minutes and hopefully within that period. I'll have figured something out you've written two bucks in what ways to the hellfire and the devil may dance reflect our current political system the media world and the issues we face as society the hellfire club..

"Jake Tapper was talking with Jeffries Science, the White House. Covert response coordinator and was asking him About whether President Biden is being overly cautious. With with his mask wearing. Here's how some of that exchange went on CNN this morning. Is it really necessary for a fully vaccinated person to wear a mask at a limited indoor gathering? If everyone there is vaccinated, while the CDC has given guidance that when you're with family and friends that are vaccinated small groups, you don't need a mask. So why does President Biden in a room full of vaccinated journalists with the everybody in that room vaccinated? Why does he need to wear a man president is going to continue to follow the CDC guidance. All right, well, Jake Tapper wasn't content to to leave it at that. So he continued to press Jeff Science on on this topic about mask wearing former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb says that the CDC could consider lifting indoor mask mandates. Right now, And in fact, he is suggesting that that will be a sign of confidence to show that everything is science based and that there is an end of the tunnel. There's a we're gonna We're gonna look to the CDC, The president from Day one has said. We're gonna look for bringing to rely on science and facts, and that's what we'll do. The CDC has across the last several weeks. Given Biden's for vaccinated people to do indoor gatherings with other vaccinated people's. I talked about earlier to not wear mask outside, except when you're in a very crowded place, and we look forward to further guidance from the CDC about what the advantages are being vaccinated. I think one of the reasons why journalists are annoyingly harping on this, and some health experts are is because there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And President Biden being able to take off his mask in a roomful of journalists and White House staffers, all of whom who are fully vaccinated is a demonstration that the vaccines work. You and I are both vaccinated and you and I are in a room together talking and I have no fear that I'm going to get the virus from you. And I assume vice versa. And I think the concern is that By being overly cautious. The signal is going out to the public. That there isn't necessary a light at the end of the film. Do you understand why people think I think everyone is tired on bearing the mask is it can't be a pain, but we're getting there in the light at the end of the tunnel is brighter and brighter. Okay, we turn the corner and the light. At the end, The tunnel is brighter and brighter, The CDC says vaccinated people can, among other things, gather.

"Me. And, uh and we're talking about it. And I mean all the years I was on television. If you work in television news eventually, sometimes you're gonna be out there by the side of the road standing there in the early morning telling people that it's snowing. How would how how I also we know it if it's snowing, you know there's not people on television to stand out there and tell you that it's not And I said, the one thing that I always did in my years of television news. I never told people to stay at home. And I will say tonight what I have said over the years on when we have conditions like this is that this is one of those situations where you really need to evaluate how good of a driver you are in the snow. Because the conditions are pretty serious out there and it's it's no joke. And if you go out there, and you're not a good driver in the snow, you're going to screw things up for everybody else. So don't be that person. It's that simple of evaluate you'd be honest with yourself. Evaluate how good you are driving in the snow. If you're not good, do us all a favor. Stay. Stay where you are. Okay? If you're a good driver in the snow, then get out there and have at it. But you know you got to be careful, but I'm not here to tell you, you know, don't go out on the roads because The TV people are out on the roads, and I've been with some TV people who are not very good drivers, but we've got a lot to talk about so much talk about all the Joe Biden stuff. The XL pipeline, Jake Tapper really got under my skin this week. I'm gonna do a deep dive into that..

"Let's talk about that WD scratch either took place. Jake Tapper. And this is systemic. Amongst many Jake Tapper was talking about Congressman Brian, Mass. As you know. He is a war hero lost both his legs stepping on an improvised explosive device. When he served us in Afghanistan. He's now in a wheelchair he rose during the impeachment. You know, And he basically said, Hey, is anyone actually question any other writers? Maybe we ought to bring him in here and you know they should be witnesses and the see if, in fact, Trump Had encouraged them to storm the capital. Well, this is what Jake Tapper had to say. That's relevant. What you're saying right now is relevant because Congressman Brian Mast, a Republican from Florida, who lost his legs, by the way, fighting for democracy abroad, although I don't know what is, I don't know about his commitment to it here in the United States. I don't know. About his commitment here to it in the United States, Jake Tapper. What does he collect? Grows barnacles on his backside. I mean, come on, Tough guy Tapper. Right. Then he went on, he say, I question the commitment to democracy of anyone. Who spread election lies signed on to the deranged Texas attorney general's lawsuit that was shot down by the Supreme Court. And voted to commit sedition. So I guess if you like you join team Cruz or many of the house members, I Garo Miley. Attack is they're guilty of sedition, right? You know, you know this goes back to gotta blame Trump for this. Yeah, Remember Trump running for the presidency? Citizen Trump. When he was talking about a guy who hates the lows. He despises even in death, John McCain said. Oh, I prefer my war heroes in okay, court. Almost suggesting that John McCain was giving information to the North Vietnamese hold semen and the Vietcong while they were torturing him in the Hanoi Hilton. Wow. And then it's not just Jake Tapper attacking Congressman Brian Mast. Almost gave the ultimate sacrifice and guide he survived. But it wasn't a what was it in a while back to Tucker Carlson was attacking Illinois Senator Duck Worth. I don't agree with her. I disagree with most of what she says. I don't like the way she says It was kind of purple heart. Remember served in Iraq. Piloting a Blackhawk helicopter. They got hit. Whether grenade and down it. What? And she lost like parts of two of her legs. Okay. Hey, called her a coward because I think it had to be that she wanted to engage in removing some of the national statues Come on, really? You think maybe if you're like a war hero Police hero. You should be like top shelf Five star, You know, he should be called names by people then serve. Look, I didn't serve the country I could have served. I chose not to serve. But if you serve the country, and especially if you were injured in the line of duty and thankfully survived, um I got to start dumping on you. Oh, here's Lester in Medford. He claims he knows why the 17th is so important. Tell me why Lester It's important because the United States began in 17 76 with the Declaration of Independence. Okay, well, 17 76 his men the battle cry of some of those who stormed the capital and entered into the house area in the Senate area. Can I give you partial credit for that Lester partial credit. I'll accept that on. I would like to say something else to go. Well, please do. Why doesn't Donald Trump Resign. And then Uh, Mike, the pencil will become, the president can give him a total pardon. Which Will accept them from all High crimes and misdemeanors. Whoa! Okay, okay. He can. He could do a Jerry Ford. That was a prearranged agreement..

He he fought for his country overseas, but it's not clear that he cares about democracy here at home. Oh, okay. Just just run of the next time, Jake, start tweeting out. I love the troops. I love the troops so much. I'm all about the troops. I've never seen anybody in media. "Knowles can't Ow! L s in there. How did you hear about this box so that they know that we sent you. These are nasty guys. On the other side. You think Trump is nasty. Wait until you hear the guys on the other side, Jake Tapper, you know, straight laced, Jake Tapper calls it like he sees it. You know, he's he's fair. He's old school is the last journalist in America, Jake Tapper. Maurice, a Democrat hack, which is I think it's maybe the latter. Jake Tapper was just describing a A congressman member of Congress who he doesn't like, and he He used the most disrespectful language. I've heard from CNN in at least several hours. The rings of evidence that we have. There's one of the things I want to share. Just one other thing. That's relevant. What you're saying right now is relevant because Congressman Brian Mast, a Republican from Florida, who lost his legs, by the way, fighting for democracy abroad, although I don't know what is Don't know about his commitment to it here in the United States, he said. Did anybody say that? Yes, we heard him. Dancers. Yes, yes! Yes, Brian Mast. Who lost his legs fighting for democracy abroad. I don't think he cares too much about democracy here. You mean he doesn't care about democracy here? First of all, very, very disrespectful that you can tell Jake Tapper knows that he's crossed the line because he hesitates when he says it. And usually, Jake Tapper is good at keeping a straight face. But even that he thought, Oh, Yikes! That's well, whatever. I'm just gonna make the nasty comment, but he's using democracy in exactly the same way. AOC is. There is nothing undemocratic about pursuing legal challenges to an election. Nothing undemocratic about it at all. There's nothing undemocratic about objecting to the certification of certain electoral votes. Now, if For instance, Mike Pence had come out and unilaterally declared that he was going to reject the electoral votes. That would have raised some issues that would have thrust us into a constitutional crisis. We've actually seen that that constitutional crisis happened before that would have happened in 18 76. 18 77, but still, that would have been a crisis but to go out and follow the procedures that are available to you in a democracy as the people's representative and object a certain votes that's not anti Democratic. The reason Jake Tapper thinks it's anti Democratic is because it's a guy on the other side. Don't remember Jake Tapper ever referring to the many, many Democratic lawmakers who have objected to electoral votes as anti Democratic. Did he know Of course not. Because if you support the Democratic Party, you support democracy. If you support the Republican Party, you're a neo Nazi skinhead fascist who should be deep platforms. You should be ostracized from society who should not be able to engage in commerce. That's ramping up to we went through it yesterday on the show. President Trump can't even use his bank accounts. Certain places now. Parlor built build your own Twitter. The left told us Okay. We built our own Twitter, They said you can't do that Can't engage in commerce can engage in society. Republicans need to wise up to this sort of thing. Conservatives need to wise up. I can't believe we have allowed ourselves to be duped. I can't believe those extraordinarily naive or score cynical Republicans who voted for impeachment. Would allow themselves to be duped like this. I can't believe a member of the Republican leadership. Would either fall for something like that, or ally herself with something like that. Really, really. Pathetic, really concerning stuff. We'll be back in a second, but first hair eases a return to the essential quality craftsmanship at a fair price. How did they do it? I mean, that's why they call him CNN, Fake news and the Speaking of CNN, Jake Tapper. The guy who goes this way He goes that way. But to yesterday he really hit a new low. There was a congressman from Florida's name is Brian Mask. He's an Afghan war veterans, a double amputee. He vote voted no on impeachment, but he did actually take President Trump to task a little bit While he did so, however, that didn't stop Jake Tapper from questioning. Ah, double amputee. Afghan War veterans patriotism take a list that's relevant. What you're saying right now is relevant because Congressman Brian Mast, a Republican from Florida, who lost his legs, by the way, fighting for democracy abroad, although I don't know what is I don't know about his commitment to it here in the United States. How do you like that? Terrible. So I thought, Yes, just one more insulting. A little tidbit here is that they have as one of the impeachment managers if it goes to trial in the Senate Eric store well is going to be one of the managers and he said this yesterday. Talk about offensive, he said this about what Trump the per president did a week ago Wednesday. They're saying holding him accountable is different from the people who directly were involved in tearing down the doors and rampaging of the Capitol building. Well, Osama bin Laden did not enter.
