"Was talking to a couple of my friends talking to Sean deeb and Shawn Dave is always going for player of the year. So I think it was I won the tournament on a Friday night and I told Sean says, well, you got to play the online stuff now. And I was like, ah, I don't know if I'm gonna do it. And then on Sunday, me and my girlfriend were not doing much. And so I was like, you know what? Let's go to the room. I'm going to play the online event. And then I ended up winning, I ended up coming in fourth and that, and that put me that Jake was Jake Schwartz was leading the player of the year at the time. And that put me ahead of him. So that's when I made the decision that, okay, well, I'm going to give it a run. And so yeah, from there, I think I wouldn't have played the ten case study. And I final tabled that and got some points, and then after that, I ended up going home. I got a call, and I got an email from home that I needed to deal with. So I came home and hung out with my daughter for a couple days. And I was done. I was in first, but I was done. I didn't, I was playing no more events. I had already played the main, and I was telling my daughter, you know, I got a better idea of what was going on here and it wasn't as bad as it was presented to me. And my daughter was like, go back. I can't believe what are you doing here? Go win player of the year. So I came back, I missed the three K plo. It.

"Bracelet winners this year. Crazy. And so many people added to their fourth or 5th career. Bracelets. So absolutely, definitely a year of the probe that part came true. Interestingly in the main event, as I was watching these flights, a good, it looks like 75% between 70 75% of entrance made at the day too. So now taking anything away from those names we just mentioned or any of our listeners who made it the day two or any minute of day two, but not as tough as you might have thought. Yeah. Get farther down. But good for everybody that still live in. Pretty phenomenal. And really the only big name that I saw and I'm sure there are other ones, but the only one noted that is out as Danny de grone who got booted in the level two, I think. So there's always rough for these pros. Obviously, right? Because you can't go fire another bullet. Exactly. You're a World Series are done, and you got to wait for next year. So that's always very difficult. So but most of it looks like what's the big names moved on now? And of course, how am I doing his show up at dinner break? He played two hours and ran a 60 K starting back up to 93 moved on. So good day at the office for him. Short date of the opportunity. One of remarkable last half of the World Series for Josh Ari too. I mean, wow. You know, they call them Atlanta Josh and it's just it's phenomenal how well he's playing and it's like a, I don't know, just like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, because you haven't heard anything from this guy in a decade. Now all of a sudden, boom, he's just going crazy and so did you happen to catch wind of the player of the year stuff? Who do you know? I did not check that out, so. I'm very curious because like you said there's these three guys who have a first and a second. Rea's got all this stuff going on now. Two bracelets and other caches and another final table and he made the main event day two as did, you know, Phil helmuth and stuff. So I'm just very curious to see who has to do what to win it, you know, or whatever. Yeah, I wonder what are the. Player of the year? Oh, here it is. All right, hold on. All right. I'll fill the dead air while you're looking it up here. Josh REA is in first now. Yep. With 3110.91 points. So how many 7? Holy cow. Yeah. Anthony Zeno is a third and a Jake Schwartz who I'm assuming he must have won an event. I don't remember talking about it on the show..

"And I think you can find some very interesting situations where you can get people for whatever reason they get it all in with a dry aged deuce and you just have actually crushed on the high. It's where you get it all in, you get three quarter and you can win three quarters of the pot. Again, you're taking big risk when you buy a big bet. I mean, I mean, the risk doesn't the risk more than outweighs reward. But again, based on snack size, I'll choose big bed and a lot of spots, as big as all the big games bigger than one. I'm sure she was the most of, but I'm not afraid. Again, I'm not afraid to play any of the games. I get a little annoyed when I think people are choosing incorrect games at certain times. People will see it on my face and I there was you in a spot in the final table, three handed with Phil howey. He chose the game and Jake Schwartz was down to a better two. I looked at him like he was out of his mind..

"He's ever had two World Series of poker. Clearly, that must be the case. Clearly one of the best two week stretches, any players ever had at the World Series of poker and we're only halfway done, as you said. So he could still get number 17. Could still get number 18. I'm sure there's another at least a final table or two in store for him. You never know he's clearly on his game right now and I think Phil Helmut has been the big story of the 2021 WSP thus far. Yeah, let's talk about a couple other stories. One, almost one 17, but was denied by a gentleman who has now for bracelets himself. And the great story is he has won this title and that was the ten K dealer's choice. He has won that title three times in a row. Normally would say three years in a row, but there was no 2020. But the last three times it has been held. 18 19 21, this gentleman, Adam Friedman has won this ten K that's incredible. I mean, it really is. And we're not just talking a random event. This is a championship ten K event with some of the best dealer best mixed game players in the world and this gentleman is one of three times in a row. That's incredible. I don't know what to say. I think it's just amazing. It's one of the greatest accomplishments in World Series of poker. I agree. I talked about it on the Pope in his podcast extensively. And I wasn't willing to say it's the greatest accomplishment, but it's definitely up there in a top 5 moment. You know, Johnny Chan winning back to back main events and then finishing runner up to hell news in 89. That's huge. Michael mizrahi winning the 50 cap poker player championship three times. Another great thing. This accomplishment by Adam Friedman is right up there with all of that in my opinion. It really Adams a great player already. He's multiple bracelets as you said. A great mixed gains cash game player, he's well respected in that community. He's won a couple of MSP T titles. So his no limit mid stakes game is spot on as well. There's a lot to like about it and I think just winning this was really cementing his legacy and look, I don't know how old Adam is. He's right around my age, so 38, 39, maybe 40, but here's a guy who needs to get his hat in the ring as far as poke Hall of Fame nominations in my opinion in the years to come. Others that we'll talk about, I'm sure here too, Anthony Zeno. He's hundreds now. Josh arie, who just shipped another bracelet. A lot of guys this year are bolstering their poker resumes, if you will, now that they're hitting around that 40 Mark, 40 years old mark that they'll become poker Hall of Fame eligible. And I think in coming years, we'll see their name grace that nomination list. I mean, a couple other players who have quietly done very well at this World Series, probably overshadowed by Anthony Zeno and Phil helmet. Jake Schwartz, who has made multiple final tables himself, fit losing out to Phil Helmut. And then Ryan Lang winning his third bracelet..

"Massive future was almost one of those things where like I can't if I'm in sports I'd be so stupid right now to miss out on the birth of Esports, you know, it's like missing out on being a part of you know, the Lombardi trophies in the NFL. The births of the NFL is in these other, you know leagues or you know monsters and Titans that are internationally known and I couldn't I couldn't help but I thought that that drew me towards looking for opportunities any sports, you know, I'll I'll be honest I was I was looking through some different organizations. Some were organizations were were looking for it to kind of look in a way that move into Partnerships and higher on at a good friend Jake Schwartz who works over at Team Liquid and a good friend of mine Solomon who was connected with Jordan the head of content at dark0. So I woke up I'd set up a call was really trying to learn about the space. Like hey, I just want to learn about the space with setting up calls with everybody and kind of hit it off really hit it off and that got me onto a call when the head of operations ROM. I mean eventually birth The CEO Zack and it was just a natural fit and and it was one of those things where I'd always had a sports in the back of my mind. As you know, something that I didn't want off that boat. And then as I picked my head up after the accident and saw that we were in we were in unprecedented times and and challenging time. I realized you know, there's a huge opportunity for the virtual side of things and even though you know, there's not there's not fans at NFL and NBA games right now. There's you know, you can watch these wage there's people of Gaming all over the world that people are able to tap into maybe that's a space that's growing now is there's more folks with more time at home able to game in tune into these things. You know, that's going to be an area that's probably grown now and luckily, you know, the timing worked out. It's definitely an area that has seen a lot of Newfound attention as other Entertainment Properties strip away and Esports continues going on now Esports. Can plenty of its own bumps and bruises along the way as well, but it's a great highlight of how resilient Esports and gaming is and the role it's going to play and the role it's going to continue playing in modern culture as we go forward at this pandemic is really highlighted..

"Steve on doing great. How are you today? Important event tonight. We're calling it a conversation on healing. And that's that's definitely the goal. Seven to nine tonight at Rancho Bernardo high school. It's going to be the forming arts center, and it is open to the public. We want everyone to be there, especially students a lot of lot of kids are really upset especially in north county area about what happened because they know people who went to Covad of power, and they say my gosh, if this napping at a place of worship where else can happen. Sure. And then we'd just seeing literally right now the shooting at the school in Colorado just doesn't ear Columbine. We don't know much about it right now. But. Grab it anywhere. No doubt about it. I think everyone's past that illusion. I hope that won't happen here happened, right? I hope we're all pass that. That's that. I remember as a kid growing up here, southern California. We had two drills right yet a fire drill and you had an earthquake drill and those drills. And I literally have kids who go to local schools that have had active shooter drills. And that's scary is apparent and it's scary for our kids as well. And unfortunately, it's the time. So we live in. But there has to be a better way. There has to be a solution. There has to be a way that we can see what's happening in our friends and maybe realize, you know, so and so isn't isn't doing right today. And there's something going on and we need to open that conversation. And how do I start that conversation? Or who do I talk to to have that conversation to make sure that we're heading down the right? The root of that says that the approach you think that that we're taking tonight. I it's definitely part of the approach. I mean, the number one thing tonight is there's not going to be any finger pointing about what happened. There's no assigning blame. But the the question is how. How do we move forward as a community for sure who are the panelists? Boy, we we have a list of people and we've got Dr Benjamin max Poile from Rady children's hospital. He's a child psychiatry so he's going to be there to help us. You know, look for things in our own own children to make sure that they're handling this correctly on Tammy Gillies. I'm sure you're familiar with her the AD L regional director here as well. As we've got an a really interesting kid by the name of Jake Schwartz. He's a student at west you high school, and we had him on our morning show this morning, very articulate talking about the very fact that he knows he's got friends who go to abroad, and he scared and his friends or scared and they're having these conversations now. And so, you know, as a community, we need to make sure they understand that this is number one, not acceptable. And number two. It's not the norm, and and school and synagogue, anywhere. You go really is a safe place. Who else we got nine right? We we have quite a few. I hope none of our big speakers because the ton of time, Barbara, and I think our jobs are going to be the like, okay, you're done back. But we've got the principle of Rancho Bernardo high school. Dave master he's going to be there. We've got a counselor from power unified school district as well. We've got a behavioral health expert coming. We have a senior pastor from the gathering place church up there in north county as well. And then we also have a race relations expert from the county's office of education. So we'll diverse group there. But honestly that the conversation is going to be very organic. It's gonna come from questions from the audience. We we really want people to come in. And I have a feeling they'll be a little timid at first, but we've done these things in the past. And and usually once we get the conversation rolling. We'll we'll get some really thoughtful in in in deep conversation curious on the. From that race children's hospital child psychologist on for parents, what to look for out of their kids because I read stories every once in a while it could be a kid who commit suicide or accused of something like this, and the parents had no idea no idea, and my instinct is it's no longer to say, wow, come on parent. What's wrong with how could you not see? Like, there's a lot of variables there, and I could could have right in front, and you really don't know. I'm sure that that these parents the first thing they thought was what did we miss? Yeah. Where what was there a sign that we just didn't see and I I've got teenagers. And you know, what they spend a lot of time in their room a lot of time on their computers in their room. And I'm not a hundred percent monitoring. And I think I'm a pretty good parent. Right. I've used the good pair. We all. We're the best and yet. Yeah. Hundred percent of the time. You don't know. Or maybe they're not inside your house. Maybe they're, you know at school, and and they're supposed to be studying. And instead they're on their phones. And they're they're searching things and it can fast to once you get style. Tonight as well. Like what how quick easy to get stuck in in these bore Texas online pretty bad stuff details. One more time. All right. So it's going to be tonight Rancho Bernardo high school in the performing arts center thirteen thousand ten Passaic Lucille drive, and it's from seven to nine you should probably get their six thirty six forty five ish at the latest. We are gonna have some TV cameras there. But we're not going to be putting it on live. But just want to let you know, those will be there. We'll have a story for eleven o'clock news. I think it's going to be a really great event in a good first step toward heading in the right direction. Then hopefully, this'll be the last town hall. We have to have about this. Unfortunately, art community. We're we're pretty good at rallying around tragedy. And and we've had all the fires and the other things and. Those are kinda sort preventable. So those fires, you know. But the, but this is one hundred percent now, we don't want anymore. Steve price appreciation tonight RV high school seventy nine o'clock coming up later. We'll have more on the school shooting in Colorado, the details neck one hundred seven sixty K F and B my show spread the word.
