"Pretty happy for the most part. It is a real head scratcher childhood friend of Jake Paterson sharing his thoughts expressing shock now that Patterson is charged with kidnapping thirteen year old Jamie and killing her parents Patterson's family also says they don't know what happened to cause the incident right now, we're learning more about the psychology of the suspects like Patterson with ABC news crime and terror analysts Brad Garret. Good morning, Brad. Good morning already makes a job like yours more difficult when there is a bit of a trail or something in the personality that maybe tips you guys off. But it doesn't sound like that Jake Paterson at any kind of signs at this. How do you explain this? Well, because of the following people like Jake are able to have this. This is a guess on my part based on experience in other cases, is that they have this very rich fantasy wife about a objection sexual assault. Murder. And usually starts when they're young like, maybe an elementary school. It gets bigger richer sort of more in their head day in and day out very few people act on them. But Jake is one of those small percentage of people who actually acted on his his fantasy, which I think at that point had become a compulsion. But they're able to do this because they don't talk to anybody about this. This whole fantasy is in their head and their ability to lead life. Before Jerry at after these events is pretty consistent of they don't get caught. They go on and lead life like they were before. And I think that's what Jake was doing. I mean, there's father and other people were in the house when Jamie was upstairs under his bed. So how do you do that? I mean, you gotta you gotta really be able to sort of live up a parallel life. So do you think this was really the first time did anything like this? And do you think there are always red flags in a situation like this leading up to it? Well, I I will say this. There are red flags in odd behavior. But are there red flags somebody's gonna commit a double homicide and kidnapping in the answer is probably no the only thing I can say to that is that these kids do tend to be trouble. They tend to have low self esteem sort of not in the mainstream of school or society. And so they really function as loners now that's not against the law. I'm only suggesting is working with kids like that when they're younger certainly will maybe even reduce the possibility they could end up doing something harmful when they become adults. If nothing else it makes the better adults if you can help them ABC news crime and terror analyst Brad Garrett, thanks for your perspective. It's fit says highly rated very highly rated did you hear that. Now. I know this. Oh, I know this stuff, I think, I know what the I know the people I see all right? I got to tell you the story. We're gonna talk about. I don't think we've talked about it on the show not mentioned it to be quite honest. I haven't paid much attention to it until last night because for one reason or another, you know, finding out the details and now there's almost a finality to what is taking place here. There was a team who disappeared three months ago. Somebody somebody somebody killed her parents and took her right, and no one has known. No one no one knew what happened to her. She disappeared. I is a lot like immediately smart eighty eight days, she disappear, right? And now she's been found this entire area has been looking for Jamie since October fifteenth, but no sign of Jamie until Thursday. That's when authorities say she somehow was able to get out of the home where she was being held. And she spotted a woman who was walking a dog outside, Jamie. According to police told her she was Jamie clause, and that woman immediately went with her to a neighbor's home from there. They call nine one one authorities arrived immediately on the scene recognized. This was the young girl that this entire tone had been looking for for three months and she's a middle score. Yeah. This is amazing from a number of standpoints one a she's alive. Yeah. Thank goodness. Be. She was wearing men's shoes that did not fit her somehow she managed to escape and her. Parents are dead. And what a thirties are saying that the parents I'm sorry class was Paterson's. The man who was arrested only target Jamie clauses. The teen, and yeah and taken against her will is this some freak is this some guy who it was a botched robbery or did he target this girl? Somehow, I think he and figure. Well, I don't know. I I don't know when they say she's an only target does. That mean that he knew her from somewhere else and decided to kill the parents to take her for his own. Or was it something else? I think that's it. I think you ought to twenty one year old sicko. He is the suspect. His name is Jake Paterson. He was arrested. And I think he went into this house and killed her parents and took her because he wanted her. Yeah. Two counts of first degree intentional homicide in the murder of her. Parents. You know, what this? These stories actually, I can give give you another example. Do you? Remember the story at a Cleveland a few years ago. Yes, there was this. There was this awful, man. And he had maybe three or four three different girls that weren't related to each other. They need kidnapping kept in a house chained him up one in each room assaulted all of them had children with them. Yeah. Remember, they were playing in the backyard. Yeah. And someone had gotten out of the house. It's it's sad to say. And it's disgusting to say, but I mean right out of the gate. You know, when we started talking about this Wisconsin team, you remembered a story similar, and I remember two stories similar. Man. I just I don't know what to make of this other than this guy wanted to capture her get have her for himself. So so it begs the question, then how how did he know her? How did they did they have any interaction before? This is this something that she she met them on you know, she met him or he met her on Facebook. And he became obsessed family friend, a lot of times you have these sickos. They just see someone true. And that's it true day. Just see somebody it could it could be anywhere. And they and that's it. That's who I'm going to kidnap that's going to stock. It could have been. Here's the the Barron county sheriff, Chris FitzGerald is a remote area. There isn't a lot of houses in that area. He not only concealed his identity from us. He concealed it. Appears he conceal her from other people also his friends. So we didn't tell anybody know this. This was like sixty miles away from where she lived. Yeah. And I'll just say, I don't man, I don't want to know the rest of the story because it's not going to be good. Right. It it probably horrific. Yeah. But what while he captured her and kept her there for eighty eight days. The good news is she's going to get a lot of help. Elizabeth smart has already reached out. Elizabeth smart has either a foundation or some group. She's an advocate on kidnapping. Yeah. That helps people that go through this. So I wish her only the best. But yeah, it it. It certainly the details. Can certainly not will certainly not be good. But again, I would like to know. Maybe it's what you said. Maybe he just saw her one day and said, that's it. I had to have her or did they meet some somewhere else or some other way? I don't know. All right coming up next. We're going to check traffic when we come back. We know this whole government shutdown is a joke. It's ridiculous two sides can't work together new era Zona Senator Martha mcsally decided to do something. I love it. You hated it.
