"And you know the way that jose altuve hits is going to be different than the way that you were outrageous. It's going to be different than the way that carlos correa et cetera. Down the line but they all they all share You know you can definitely be selfish in this game if you want to Because you never know how long you're going to be with the team and maybe you wanna protect something that you know but I don't see that with this group. I see total team effort and guys helping their teammates out. Because they're all on the same rope. Astros a gm. James click tampa of quite a while longtime you mentioned clubhouse culture. That's an unbelievable franchises. You know what's the difference is. Do you see similarities in the clubhouse and can you compare the two and what the differences between tampa and here i mean. Each clubhouses is distinct clubhouses unique and the tampa clubhouse around have been different. You know year two years sometimes. Depending on who the club outliers are can be a quieter more stoic clubhouse But a team like that because they tend to be on the younger side. you know. it's it's a lot of young guys and if a young clubhouse for for For better worse than and you know we all know kind of that. Right right but You know the the astros club out here. It's it's very it's professional It you know guys are are determined. They take this thing very seriously and you can see it. Not just in how they behave themselves on the field but in how they're taking care of themselves off the field not only taking care of their bodies and and being serious about that but also being safe with everything else. That's going on. And we've seen what happens to teams that have to to battle covert outbreaks and i give a lot of credit for treating this as seriously as they have to put us in the best position possible compete be full strength. Our post is postseason experience in baseball overrated or underrated at dependent who won the last game. You know we we do a really good job giving you the choice. You got to have one or the other. You gotta have a team that's experienced or a team. That's a little bit young and naive. I know the mix would be nice but if you had to choose one is what is one overrated underrated experience. I mean they're they are both over and under at the same time. It is it we just after the game is over in the postseason if the experienced team one then we get a bunch of articles and a bunch of talk about how the postseason experience came true and if the inexperience team won we get a bunch of talk about how you know. Well they were too young or you know not. They didn't realize how big the pressure was because they'd never been there. I don't i don't think any one of us has a has a really good idea on on overrated underrated dot kind of thing I do think that there is a benefit of.

"Sports. Talk seventy james welcome in. Let's start here with little injury report. My man were we out with jayco to rizzi. Though we got some good news on jake last night We were concerned about a significant injury to the foot. But right now let's look like kind of a mid foot sprain So he's going to be in a boot For a little bit. And we'll kind of see how he responds. But he felt better yesterday and We'll keep an eye on it but hopefully the short-term thing so still a possibility as we roll through the we'll see him again if it rolls if it if it doesn't become more serious yeah no question. Where he's he's not he's not shut down for the season in any way at this point but It's not a common baseball injury You know it's if it's the landing foot it's one thing if it's the you know the push off the different thing. These are all things that we have to assess with him. Once we see how the body responds but The initial news well while scary to see and come out of the game. The initial news from the doctors was very positive people in this city. Call while it's texas baseball town and this may be a difficult question. But i'm going to ask it and it's not done as a negative thing because it happens. Is your baseball club at times. Board this late in the season i mean. I can't speak for them. I am not board. But yeah i look at these kind of things you know. Sometimes you have a game where you just can't get a hit and you can't. You can't buy it sometimes. You have games like monday. Where where everything's flying out of the ballpark and And you're having a good time. I don't read anything into you. Know how seriously guys are taking their jobs by the by the final score of of a ballgame. This is baseball right The best the best teams are gonna lose fifty or sixty games every year and occasionally not look very good doing it so we don't extrapolate you know guys got effort level or their attitude based on Based on the final result you know. I can say from being around these guys watching them put their work in. They are professionals They take it very very seriously. They are not out there board. They're not out there taking a day off From what i've seen But you know again. it's baseball. Yeah and james this. You led me to this next question. It's not even really towards your team. It's overall as a leader meaning you or dusty or anybody else. And i've always wondered this when i was coached and i believe that you don't ever or should never have to coach or manage. Effort agree or disagree. Is.

"I don't think you want to run them out there as one of your host stars all right. Look ahead into your crystal ball. What you've seen in your great evaluation and analysis of this. Who's going to be disappointed because they're not going to be on that on the roster when it comes to that first series who way. I don't care if it's an everyday player pitching staff who are the guys you think. Well did you're going to be bummed or are still in position to possibly keep that gig. Is there a few guys you look at and say now. Sorry but it's not going to happen for you. This series yeah well right now. I i think jacob reggie sort of on the outside looking in certainly of the rotation and you know probably on the outside of of a roster spot for the playoff playoff roster and i think that has a lot of to the frustration that he showed Coming up is he. He knows he's sort of trying to prove his way onto their so so right now i think he's he's the biggest omission because you don't need that extra starter and i don't know that you know he really has to be in the bullpen. I i don't know if he's kind of redundant skill set out of the bullpen So that's one. And i think i think they're going to really have to make a decision on if they want to keep the to lefties. I know brooks rayleigh has been used very often this season. But you know blake taylor stone. The ball he started established himself as the high leverage. Lefty and i don't know if there's a spot or a second lefty who's not going to pitch leverage situations is it overrated. The have to have lefties on your staff and your bullpen. yes simply simply because of handedness. Yes i think there's so many different ways of looking at matchups from this point and there's so much data to show whose arm slots and who's pitching movement and whose pitch repertoire plays against right handed or left handed hitters have guys now who are right. Handed throwers who are essentially left handed specialist because of the way they match up with us so to keep a lefty simply because he's left handed and you wanna throw them out there against left. Handed hitters is a little bit silly outdated But if they are better against left handed hitters and it gives you an extra option for matchup and it's certainly worth worth having all right. I'm gonna let you go onto this on a thursday has the mvp gap this american league. Mvp gap is it tightened between guerrero and otani. No no and i love what vlad vladimir ramirez is doing..

"This <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Silence> <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> <hes> <Silence> was out plan. <Speech_Telephony_Male> This is something <Speech_Telephony_Male> that there are <Speech_Telephony_Male> there. Numbers and data <Speech_Telephony_Male> backup <Speech_Telephony_Male> and it was <Speech_Telephony_Male> probably just explained. <Speech_Telephony_Male> Hey where where you're <Speech_Telephony_Male> at in the season and where <Speech_Telephony_Male> we're at in the season <Speech_Telephony_Male> and <Speech_Telephony_Male> if it's a close game <Speech_Telephony_Male> and you're getting to <Speech_Telephony_Male> the third time through <Speech_Telephony_Male> the order we're not going <Speech_Telephony_Male> to push it. It <Speech_Telephony_Male> would be and it's <Speech_Telephony_Male> probably a different <Speech_Telephony_Male> story. If it's a <Speech_Telephony_Male> five or six run ballgame <Speech_Telephony_Male> you probably get to <Speech_Telephony_Male> go back out there and <Speech_Telephony_Male> prove <Speech_Telephony_Male> that he <Speech_Telephony_Male> can go deeper into <Speech_Telephony_Male> the game. But <Speech_Telephony_Male> i think it's <Speech_Telephony_Male> just a <Speech_Male> communicating of <Speech_Male> thought to sort <Speech_Telephony_Male> of smooth everything <Speech_Telephony_Male> over and say. Hey this <Speech_Telephony_Male> is where we're at with <Speech_Telephony_Male> how you are going to <Speech_Telephony_Male> be used moving <Speech_Telephony_Male> forward and <Speech_Telephony_Male> in the different <Speech_Telephony_Male> game scenario. <Speech_Telephony_Male> <SpeakerChange> Yeah it probably <Silence> would be different <Speech_Male> bride. <Speech_Male> Bogus seven joins <Speech_Male> us. He does every <Speech_Male> thursday at seven o'clock <Speech_Male> here on <Speech_Male> seven ninety. <Speech_Male> All right brian <Silence> are we. <Speech_Male> Should <Speech_Male> we be concerned about <Speech_Male> the bullpen. Like we <Speech_Male> were ba-. I the trade before <Speech_Male> the trade deadline your <Speech_Male> concerns <SpeakerChange> or you dislike. <Silence> It happens <Speech_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Male> certainly. <Speech_Telephony_Male> Not concerned like <Speech_Telephony_Male> we were before the trade <Silence> deadline there. There <Speech_Male> are <Speech_Telephony_Male> too many quality <Speech_Telephony_Male> arms. And <Speech_Telephony_Male> there's <Speech_Telephony_Male> enough depth <Speech_Telephony_Male> there <Speech_Telephony_Male> that i don't think <Speech_Telephony_Male> it's a huge <Speech_Telephony_Male> area of weakness <Speech_Telephony_Male> anymore <Speech_Telephony_Male> but concern. <Speech_Telephony_Male> Yeah i mean anytime. <Speech_Telephony_Male> you're bullpen <Speech_Male> is <Speech_Telephony_Male> giving up leads <Speech_Telephony_Male> or giving up runs <Speech_Telephony_Male> even <Speech_Telephony_Male> e you you <Speech_Telephony_Male> sort of take note of <Speech_Telephony_Male> it and try to understand <Speech_Telephony_Male> why <Silence> I <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Telephony_Male> am <Speech_Telephony_Male> encouraged that. <Speech_Telephony_Male> It's not it <Speech_Telephony_Male> doesn't look like anybody's <Speech_Telephony_Male> faltering <Speech_Telephony_Male> physically <Speech_Telephony_Male> guys stuff <Speech_Telephony_Male> still looks very <Speech_Telephony_Male> good. Presley <Speech_Telephony_Male> stuff is <Speech_Telephony_Male> sharp. <Speech_Telephony_Male> Gradients <Speech_Telephony_Male> velocity <Speech_Telephony_Male> is still up <Speech_Telephony_Male> even though they <Speech_Telephony_Male> had a couple of <Speech_Telephony_Male> outing. So <Speech_Telephony_Male> i think if <Silence> everybody's <Speech_Music_Male> nobody <Speech_Telephony_Male> nobody's tiring <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> You just sort of <Speech_Telephony_Male> roll with it. But <Speech_Telephony_Male> yeah you want everybody <Speech_Telephony_Male> to be <Speech_Telephony_Male> you. Know clicking <Speech_Telephony_Male> and seven <Speech_Telephony_Male> eight ninth inning <Speech_Telephony_Male> be completely <Speech_Telephony_Male> locked down for the last <Speech_Telephony_Male> month of the season <Speech_Telephony_Male> and <Speech_Telephony_Male> rolling into the the <Speech_Telephony_Male> postseason but <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> I i don't think <Speech_Telephony_Male> there's anything to be overly <Speech_Telephony_Male> concerned with. I don't think <Speech_Telephony_Male> all of a sudden these guys <Speech_Telephony_Male> have forgotten <Speech_Telephony_Male> how to pitch or all <Speech_Telephony_Male> of a sudden you know <Speech_Telephony_Male> the league has figured <Speech_Telephony_Male> something out on <Speech_Telephony_Male> them. I think it's just <Speech_Telephony_Male> sort of <Speech_Music_Male> one of those things <Speech_Telephony_Male> because because <Speech_Telephony_Male> physically the stuff <Speech_Telephony_Male> is still there. <Speech_Telephony_Male> I think overtime <Speech_Telephony_Male> it. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Telephony_Male> It'll iron itself out <Speech_Male> known what you've seen <Speech_Male> from this to <Silence> last starts <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> and <Speech_Male> yesterday with their <Silence> keedy <Speech_Male> would you put <Speech_Male> him in <Speech_Male> the postseason rotation <Speech_Male> starting <Speech_Male> rotation if <Speech_Male> you're making <SpeakerChange> the decision <Silence> today <Speech_Male> rotation <Speech_Telephony_Male> though <Speech_Telephony_Male> I think rotation <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> assuming <Speech_Telephony_Male> that cranky comes <Speech_Telephony_Male> back you know <Speech_Telephony_Male> whenever it is. He comes <Silence> back in his <Speech_Male> healthy <Speech_Telephony_Male> and performing <Speech_Telephony_Male> the way he was. I think <Speech_Telephony_Male> that grantee slots <Speech_Telephony_Male> into that fourth <Speech_Telephony_Male> spot in the rotation <Speech_Telephony_Male> and <Speech_Telephony_Male> i think you can use your <Speech_Telephony_Male> keady <Speech_Male> a piggyback <Speech_Telephony_Male> guy. In case <Speech_Telephony_Male> there is <Speech_Telephony_Male> a short start <Speech_Telephony_Male> out of one of their starters <Speech_Telephony_Male> or <Speech_Telephony_Male> you know as <Speech_Telephony_Male> as an extra bullpen <Speech_Telephony_Male> arm. I think he <Speech_Telephony_Male> he can slot <Speech_Telephony_Male> in there. But <Speech_Telephony_Male> he's shown right <Speech_Telephony_Male> now.

"They've got omega. Bill quarterback multi french tonsils. Very this is the sean salisbury show. Sports talk seven ninety brian. Bogus savic astros. First round pick. He knows how to hit those pitch. He's are inside or every week. Here on the sean south breeze show here on seven ninety and we are grateful to have him that. I promise brian welcome in my man. All right let me get this right off the bat here. Because i think you know what we're going to start with brian with jayco torrisi have if you're a player a teammate of his are you bothered by his post-game comments two nights ago. No i don't think so because you have to understand where it's coming from right. It's not coming from a place of selfishness. it's not a guy saying. Hey i'm out here trying to get mine and they're not letting me. I think it's a guy who feels like he's in a position to help the team and contribute to the team and he's being stifled a little bit based on lack of production from when he wasn't throwing the ball the way he is now and i think he has a legitimate beef with that Now is tight game. The the the right moment to sort of pushing and see if he's ready to go probably not. But no i think. I think because it comes from a place of competitiveness and because it comes from a place of you know. I finally have the stuff to do. What i'm when i was brought here to do. I think they're fine. You want guy to want to be out there and and this is stuff that can easily be brushed aside. I mean guys fight guys argue coaches and players are you and as long as it's done you know sort of out there in the open and you're and you're not saying things behind anyone's back and your upfront with your Grievances which they were you know they talked face to face. And i think everybody's cool all right. Brian and i'm with you. That i mean and what fans don't know is how often it actually goes on and clubhouses and locker rooms at fights and arguments and you get over it and you move on hell you you bicker with your own family your home. Of course you're going to bicker with teammates but let me ask you taking a one step further. Okay as a player. I'm with you. it's like anything else. When a guy's going through a contract issue players don't like to get into other players wallet go through it. Dude will welcome you back. If you're a hold out or what have you. But did he choose the right platform to play the bs card and people want to know could he should. He have gone into the office. I before he exploded and it wasn't even an explosion. He was pissed. And that's okay. Because i'd rather have it be tele got back off than hey man. Let's get some intensity. But did he choose the wrong platform..

"Mean i. I need to see champagne flying around. Don't we all. I need to see cigar. Smoke right you know. No the short answer is no You know when when our offense is is firing on all cylinders You know when are starting pitching his firing when our bullpen is firing we lineup. We feel like we line up with everybody And so the real critical thing for us right now is balancing. You know what we need to do. In the last twenty four games of the regular season that we have so far and getting that taken care of While also hopefully you know trying to keep one eye on on october if we're lucky enough to get there and so. This is the balance That that were striking. And you're seeing it with guys getting days off Here and there on a regular basis and and trying to kind of taper Everything as we as we lead into october. Because we said it a thousand times you know. We have a short season last year. And we are on game one thirty something right now And we're still far beyond where we were last year. We need to be cognizant not only the health of the players but at their performance And just making sure that they have everything they need so that if we're lucky enough to get in october and and get in there That we are. We are fully rested in fully prepped. And ready to go. You know this position. You know. baseball's good as anybody in this league is grave men's mechanics the same as they were when he got here. I haven't seen anything that would cause me to think that they're any different You know pitchers are always tweaking. Things the pitchers are always trying to find new wrinkles because the game has always adapting to you right. If if you're out there you're having a successful season one way. Then the game will start to adapt. And so it's always about your your ability to adapt back and so how they do that You know the process..

"Have these guys breezy, warm in downtown Detroit. Beautiful day for Tiger baseball, Daddy Boy. Hello Again number one getting ready to wrap up the home stand or game series of the Astros A split of this four games. Jim against a team that was so red hot coming in would be a good weekend. Why, sure, wouldn't you have a good feeling about it? Number one. Starting pitcher entire state. But really their approach to hitting is been a lot better. The situational hitting been a lot better so hopefully they care that on through this ball game and get away with the win that situational hitting certainly will be tested today in their plate discipline with Jake Odorizzi on the mound. For the Houston Astros. Terex troublemaking is 14 start is on the mound for the target. "Spot. Yeah, I could see that you've got yes. And the top of the order getaways leading off against righties and his bad number two against lefties. He hits well left on left. He's kind of Ah, not gonna stay reverse splits because he hits Right as well. But he does It left. He's really well. Hmm. And Slater was great against lefties. So it Z interesting. It's an interesting lineup. I would think maybe Solano, if he hits like he did last year might be a guy that you might see. Every day. What else? Yeah. So here's the interesting thing. So we got the lineup and I don't know. Jackie Bradley Jr is still out there. Uh, I don't think they'll do anything. Who knows? I mean they were in play. For another outfielders, so we'll see. But I think on we could carry Crowley on yesterday. And I just looking at the starting rotation. You know, they didn't bring Alex Alex Wood in But there I think they need one more left handed starter, and Kerry said that and I thought that all along You know he's out there still, and he was talked about with the Giants earlier in the off season and then when they signed Alex would they kind of went away from it? Oh, Torrisi still out there, Jake Odorizzi, But I'm thinking of the stylish beautiful left hander Cole Hamels. Mm. Oldest Cole. How would you feel about Cole Hamels? You say this rare 37 so he just turned 37. Yeah, number. What is that number is looking like Mm. Last see last year's hard because you know, like trolling through it. And I mean, the last time he pitched Hey, had 27 starts for the Cubs in 2019, and he had a 3 81 so Yeah. On acid Wrigley Running which way the Hawk is blowing, and Scott Harris knows him well from when he was a Chicago cub free love Philadelphia. Yeah, I wouldn't mind him. I mean, like you said, I mean, they have continued to talk about it. But there's a number of guys and last year they brought in a couple of guys that you know you're kind of Let's take a flyer on that, And I think that that's something you still have to do. As far as the pictures are concerned, because, well, a lot of marketing snapped up by the way, I heard Odor easy. Wanted something in the neighborhood. Not enough. This is accurate. I just read it. But like three years 45 million He's not your pricey scratch his name. Yeah, I didn't have handles. I think you could get obviously much cheaper. Yeah. One year deal. If I'm the giant I just want to. I want to keep my flexibility for next year because so many contracts are coming off. There's so much uncertainty in all sports about as far as what the what the future's gonna hold us far as revenues concerns. I just wanna keep things open. So I got to get somebody on a one year and I gotta believe that somebody like camels. Yeah, he'd be open to one year. Another guy that maybe someone you know their pitchers and catchers are reporting the 15th, which is what President stays that Monday. I think it's Monday so You could bring him into camp later. You know hitters you could bring in closer to the ringing of the bell. He'd have to get his arm. I don't know where he's at. But I still think, um, they need one more left in the starting rotation. Now they could move somebody from the bullpen there and they made go. They may do more openers than wait. We think they would do I don't know how they would do it with Alex would would be a candidate for an opener. Without question. We're not gonna live with guardsmen you're not going to do with Johnny. Johnny doesn't like that. I'm James packed in as a signed anywhere yet. He's only 32. He's out there is well, Torsello. He's nice, Taiwan Walker. Packs to hack. His name was mentioned earlier. I like him. And Yeah, he's 32. Maybe he's asking for too much money and 32. No, he's coming off some injuries. But yeah, there's there's some decent names out there. Still, that I think would be good, and I think they could, whether it's a left your writing's like you said preference is probably a lefty. But there's some guys on this list that have you know Taiwan. Walker still hasn't signed. I know he's a writing, but he had a decently year last year. He's he's a guy that could take a chance on and probably wouldn't cost you a lot. These guys at this point would go for one year deals, which is what you want. By the way they're seeing the valuation on Cole Hamels is about four million a year. Would you be cool that like, what is it? How much here About 40? Yeah. When you're four million would be worth it. Well, you could incentivize it. You know, Alex Woods contract is interesting. The way they're crafting some of these contracts. There are interesting. I'm not sure you want to make Cole Hamels unopened. Er, but yeah. Think 40 million. You know, maybe get him a little bit cheaper since you still on the market and then building built in incentives. Different benchmarks and they don't do with winds anymore, or even necessarily innings pitched its They have creative ways. Alex was contract is creative in the way they The way they crafted that that would be you know again, you defer to Scott Harris a little bit. They have scouts that have been watching Cole Hamels has been around forever. Maybe after he left, Philadelphia went to Texas, Chicago and then last year, he hardly pitched..

"That conversation with the media and he was asked about moves being made and conversations that are being had basically said. There are conversations that are taking place and it's some point in time. These conversations will bear fruit. At some point in time, there are going to be moves that are made. And of course, there are the roster is not full right now. There are clear and obvious holes on the roster, and they got stuff to do. They got areas to work on. I feel like if I was a free agent right now, I was a major baseball free agent right now. I would. If I could get an offer. I'm taking it. I'm just taking it. I am taking the security of having a job. That's that's kind of where I'm at right now. Because I feel like for the most part. I think this is going to apply to 95% of not Maura or of the free agents that are out there. The more time that goes by They're going to get more desperate, and teams are going to continue to be able to kind of drive the price down on these players now. There's There's a player or two out there may be a DJ, Let Mayhew Happen. Maybe a Trevor Bauer and like I really like Trevor Bauer is a picture, but he's a different kind of guy, and I think there's gonna be a lot of teams that Stay away from him because he is just a he's a different cat. And he's got a kind of fit into the clubhouse that he goes to. He was. He was a great fit in Cincinnati and assed. Far as I know there weren't complaints about How we fit within that clubhouse, But just a different guy is just there's nothing wrong with that, either. I'm not putting him down when I say he's a different guy, But he's a different guy, and you've got to find a place that it works. So there's a couple 23 guys that Maybe, as time goes by, they can go make a little bit more money. But for the most part These players because there's so many players whose skill set and whose skill level Very similar to other players that are out there on the free agent market. The latest when you talk about the way markets work right now, Scarcity is not something that Really exist. You want to be in a position where you have a skill set that is very unique and your differentiated from the rest of The free agent market and That that's not really there. Except for the most part. I think a DJ will make you a little bit and I think a Trevor Bauer there's some other guys out there who I was seeing something today that Um, someone was formally in the organization, the Brewers organization Jake Odorizzi the money that he wants to make this offseason. It was It's pretty legit money, but there's just you go look at the list of free agents. And there's a lot of guys there you go by position by position, and you see all the free agents for the most part, like okay, I'd be good at that guy or that guy or that guy like there's just not a whole lot of difference between that guy to the next time what that's going to Result in his team's consent. Their market teams can say were willing to spend X amount of dollars and we're willing to invest up to this amount of money on 80 individual. That's the that's the framework. And is these conversations continue on That there's no reason for the baseball team side of things to really budge very much, and I have to think that's pretty consistent. Across the board, so I when, when David Stern says that he's having conversations on a daily basis. With with players and their representatives. I absolutely believe it. I think it's happening. And I do think the conversations that are being had right now, at some point in time are going to bear fruit. And at some point in time, it's gonna result in assigning and this is a really challenging year for player representatives, because if you've got if you've got a player And he wants X amount of dollars. And Teams. They're only offering. Why amount of dollars and you're trying to get teams to go up a little bit A. It's gonna be really tough to get teams to go up this year. That's the first thing But the second thing is, and this is where it's a little bit of a gamble. If if there's seven teams interested in your client And there's one team that maybe is willing to spend a little bit more. It's not what you want, but it's a little bit more than the other teams. What point do you take that deal Because of that team is talking to you about your client. Well, that team is also talking to another agent about another guy who plays the same position. And which ever one of those agents bites first, That player is going to get the contract and then all of a sudden, if that's the team that was the head the most amount of money out there on the table for your guy that could just be gone. And I guess that's always true to a certain level, but it is exponentially more true this year because of the lack of spending that is taking place and just the the obscene number of free agents. That are out there. So I say, Let's say this. I started this segment, saying Winner moves going.

"Don't ask me to a T and tires. I don't know. We sound like one. We've sounded all this up. All right, Let's get to work. Giant strap. Here we go. Mark Willard in the first round, we go three rounds. Okay, you go, and then I go. First round draft choice. This is the number one giant free agent target from Mark Willard. Perspective. I am selecting pitcher Jake Odorizzi. Jake Odorizzi. Tell Shane go to reason, because not only can he pitch but he sounds a little bit like the way I cook my eggs. I like right? Over. Yes, Over. Easy, Jake. Jake Over Easy is now San Francisco Giant a farm. You should say that next time you're at a greasy spoon when they say, how do you want your eggs? Because just say over. You just don't be like the guy a table. 12 talks funny, but he'd like his eggs over easy. He I'm pretty sure he said over easy, but it sounded like odor easy. Yeah, That's how you want your eggs over Easy If your cages were over, easiest crazy. What if I order my eggs over Easy. I get him. How? What does it look like when I get him? You're going to get fried eggs that have Ah, Whole lot of yolk when your four kids that egg, Okay, So you're gonna get running pool? Yeah, you're going. Yeah, That's right. Like you're gonna cut into that. And a plate full of yellow right away. Be confused with Jim Poole used to pitch out of the chant chant. All right here. We got my first pick. I'm going with the picture that I just told you about Taiwan Walker. I don't even know if the Giants have interest. They've been no rumors. Taiwan. Walker's a horse came up with. I think the Diamondbacks traded to Seattle Um And this, you know, still sub 30 mid nineties fastball. I think he's his best baseball's ahead. I go Taiwan. I see your Jaco Torrisi. And I go Taiwan Walker. All right. We're going around to round two. What do you around to round two? I'm going to select a two year deal for 31 year old reliever, Trever may 96 Mile an hour's heater. Very good control a fly ball pitcher. I'm not scared of that. They even that you know, Oracle Park started to play like Houston. All of a sudden, all good. It helped me beat you in a bet. I still think it's a It's a pretty good pitcher's park. I'll take Trevor May. Okay. I'm going to go Jock Peterson like Jock Peterson here. Yeah, wait a second. Primetime Smith is up and he's taking carry on Johnson. Wait a second. Josh Hall of just took Dante Pettus. That actually happened in. That is that is the Yeah, that did happen. That is that That's the noise you make when you when it's your turn up. That's a very by the way you stop doing that to him because that noise stresses me out, Dad that know when you hear that it's like, Oh, crap. I'm on the clock and I don't know how to work. This draft room or my wife. I spotty is very stressful when you're in a time draft and you and you hear that noise, Exactly. That means you got a minute to make it happen, baby. I'm going Jack Peterson, though one he's local to you're taking him away from the Dodgers three. The Giants need some power in the outfield. No offense. I like some of those guys you mentioned, but I like I like him off the bench. I like I like I like Slater off the bench. I like doobie off the bench. I know, Dude. We just got married, by the way. Congratulations to him and his dead his bride, Nancy, but but he's a good player. But you know what? He's a player that I like once a week and center once a week, it's second once a week, coming off the bench once a week as a pinch hitter, you know, I like him like Two or three times a week, Maybe maybe four times a week, but not every day. Not every day. I think if you ask him to do every day, I think it's insane. Much later. I think your left a little wanting. So give me Jack Peterson. Who you know, I think will be, you know his little average. He strikes out, but he's gonna He's got some thump, and I think I think he's I think he's gonna be a better player. Offensively around the Giants coaches as well. I think he would benefit greatly from their staff. All right. We're going around three. Yeah, around Carry the you, Dustin May Jake Odorizzi. And who you going with for number three. This is where it gets Tom. Picture going. Hit her. No, I'm gonna go picture again. I'm gonna go picture again because your pitcher pitcher Yeah, I just don't think there's not. I'm not spending money on people for where there just aren't enough of that's available to spend a lot of money right now, especially with the young guys coming up. So, Yeah, though they'll get someone, but it's not top three on my list. I'm gonna go picture again. Who can I get? For I don't want to spend a lot here. Um I'm gonna take Croton sister. I'm gonna take Chris Archer on the charger. You don't think that's gonna cost you some money? No. Cost you much? No, actually, MLB trade rumors predicted four million bucks. For one year. Okay. Okay. I can see this. Yep. I like I like Chris Archer. I'm gonna go with Colton Wong. I like Colton Wong. Now I think he can play second. I think you could play the little third. His brother was in the organization. I like Colton Wong and also I I just think he's you know, he's another guy. I think you know he's got bits of bad habits. I think you put him around the giant staff. And you may have. You know you got some nice tools there. And you may Ah, you may see some of you may like what you see on the back end with both Peterson along If they want smarter approach you want the giant's toe have seven people who can play second base. Is that what you're saying? That's right. I mean, seriously, let's just gets a lotto over there. Flores du Bon. Who else wants to play second base for this team? Anybody come on down. Who else? There's somebody else to your leaving off, Probably. They think you have a lot of second. Vegas. Yeah, there were there were others. Alright, There you go. There's there's the Giants draft Farhaan. I hope you're listening. We've given you all the help we can give you. That's that's all..

"For you to make adjustments After your five years in eight years in nine years in a CZ, you are right now in the major leagues, But when you're in the minor leagues and you're trying to make it and your intern organization and you're telling you, they're telling you to do it. Anyway. Like I wonder how you have the wherewithal the belief in yourself to say Yeah, You know, respectfully. I don't think that's the best way like, how did you know? And how did you have the fortitude to say normally do with my wakes. Everything's better. First and foremost like I tried doing what they wanted me to do. I gave it a good effort to do it. It was it was just very foreign. To me. It was they want to be on the opposite side of the rubber, which I normally pitch from and pitching down in the zone, which The angle it created. I understood their mindset behind it, but it was very difficult for me to get on top of the ball and consistently be down down down in the zone, So it was a little bit of a back and forth for a while and then just after talking with them and explaining my mind said, and everything like that it was I think they understood a little bit, but maybe still didn't like it. The results kind of spoke for themselves, and there was at one point in my career. I won't mention where. When it was along the lines of you know, if you can pin down the known you'll never pitch in the big league, you know, works that were told to me and you know, at that point, I was like I think I might disagree with that. I didn't say that. I was thinking to myself, but No. Thankfully, everything's worked out pretty well from the decision that I made because it could have been a crossroads. You know, in a career at any point, and it was a big step, but I just felt like Put me in my future that this made the most sense to me, and this has been years of success doing it. And then, thankfully, Tampa came along and explain to me like the wise and I've got to really study the Y and go beyond that point, And that's kind of where I am today. So I think a lot of teams that's their model now is we want guys to go north and South? More so than East and West, but Thank you dearly, and it seems like they're always anything so It's just kind of a little bit of background of how I got to be the type of picture that I am. I'm glad to share that that's actually very helpful and you write things have changed and teams do you see it that way, But they didn't see it that way that time, But so finally you're entering free agency and you're doing it at a really unusual time After a really unusual season. How are you approaching it? I think that the same as last year to be quite honest, you know, obviously, this year was well weird, Strange year for everybody, but for me in general, it was especially a friend without Back to routine inhabit spring training. Normal spring training is a huge tool for me unfortunate enough that I can use it as a tool, not the fight for a spot anymore. And I'd like to go throw against the minor leaguers in spring training. I don't really like to pitch in extreme training again because I want to work and I want to, you know, work on whatever I'm focusing on for that season or the adjustments or just hiring. Think about getting my feel for things. I like to do it back there with a controlled environment, everything like that. All the sharp wasn't able to do that. So it's kind of learning on the fly all over again. And it was. It was tough to not have the field where you wanted to be. When the season starts with, we had three weeks of ramp up time and I had a small issue that set me back a week, but a week at that point is almost like a month with a short time frame. But It was a tough start to come off and I just feel like I'm playing catch up. A little bit armed physically was perfectly fine. Everything wind up with what it was last year, Just the execution was a hair off, which is easy to Ah. Kind of worked through in a long season. It's Ah It's what six months for a reason, but, you know, finally get back in my legs underneath me, and I catch a line drive to the chest from ex teammate of mine that such me back and then A blessed in the season, so a lot of things were just unexpected. Can't really do anything about that. It is what it is. But at the same time when I was out there, pitching my numbers analytically lined up with where they were last year, so I'm still the exact same picture. I was. I don't think there's any Reason toe think anything different than that? It's Ah, if those four starts for me would have been your runs. What I've been asking for $200 Million. Absolutely not. So I don't really I don't really see how the reverse effect of that should be. In play, but I realised, you know people view things different ways, And that's just the way I view this. I think I made a great point of my career. And I think my best years are ahead of me with the training that I put in and then you know. Velocity increased that I've been able to maintain that. You know this point of my career, so I think there's a lot of good things and a lot of my best years are going to be had me so that's just my view on it, And I expect there to be a lot of A lot of interests and we'll go from there. Once the you know whats the market opened up there It is finished off his 90 MLB season already and all star already a gold medalist, the 32nd pick overall, back in 08, Jake Odorizzi, my guess That's a great baseball conversation. Jake. I appreciate that so much. Thank you very much for coming back on. I know we'll do it again soon and good luck with everything. Section I appreciate before we get off the road, Quick room. The last time we talked camp, a lightning got foreign outed, And this year they wanted Stanley Cup, So I think we need to talk just about every year on the end of the hockey season and, Ah The reverse effect. We couldn't have been more apparent this year in upside down world, So I just thought I'd bring that up. Bring things full circle for us from the last time till now. There is some symmetry in that to be sure. No, you're right. I'm glad you brought that up. And that makes perfect sense to me. And that is accurate. Another reason why we need to keep doing it, Jake. Good job. Well done. Alright. I love a guy who not only has been on but remembers the last time he was on remembers what we talked about, and what was going on? Maybe she's may and when he says that he feels like his best baseball still ahead of him. I agree with him with that approach, And with that routine, and with the knowledge he has, I agree. I think his best baseball is still ahead of him. But when he's done with baseball, there's no doubt my mind. He ends up in a studio. He'll be in a studio somewhere, and he'll have a platform and he has a great an uncanny ability to break it down. I like that guy. A lot always have. All right. When we come back, I've got it mean as evidence of how much I like him. You'll see how short the next segment is because we went kind of heavy in that one. When we come back a shorter segment. And then a conversation with the head football coach, Missouri Eli drink wits. My thanks to Jake Odorizzi of Minnesota Twins. Phone lines are.
