"To extra innings on a Sunday Fun Day is the Giants winners today, 65. They take US six game road trip and win every one of them going back to last Sunday when they beat the Dodgers 6247 wins in a row. That's right, seven of them. And the Giants has scored. 56 runs given up 22 this road trip. 56 runs a scored and great game Today. They battled all the way down to the last out with Jake McGee. And Logan Web battle with a couple misses in the outfield, and he gets his tend to win alongside Would DeSclafani, Gausman and now Web They have all 10 wins or more great rotation, and we just got to get Alex would healthy and this rotation has been dialed in tomorrow. Of course, the Giants traveling from Chicago back home Uh, opener tomorrow, Leone will be pitching. Dominic Leone will be on the mound and we just don't know what to San Diego Padres are doing in their game. A couple of injuries that happen and they are getting shut out there getting no hit. They're having a perfect game is Max Scherzer right now is six outs away. He recorded his 3000 strikeout in this game, and he had immaculate inning the start off the game. That's nine straight pitches, nine straight strikes. Three case. It's so difficult to do that, so we'll keep an eye on What's going down in L. A San Diego is falling and falling fast. And sure enough, the Giants 19 games left. They're playing the Padres for 10 of them, 10 of them. So we'll see what happens with them. Uh, nobody probable right now for the Padres for tomorrow. Most likely it's going to be a bullpen game or they may push somebody up in the rotation. But going into today's game, just a great game. Of course, Wilmer floors coming off the I L spectacular Game three for 32 runs, scored three RBS hitting his 18th home run. In the fifth inning. A couple hits by Kris Bryant, a couple hits by rough two hits by Slater, But I have to say a couple misplayed balls by Slater and Center Field of Perfect Game was going on for Web going into the fourth inning and fly ball went out and he lost it in the sun almost got hit in the head with it. And or take ended up with a triple Two hitters later have hit his 22nd home run and Logan Web was in the stretch them and he got through it no doubt got through the fifth inning gave up a run on another ball that Brian and Slater ran into and they gave an error to Brian. That was a tough error and and ended up coming out after the went out in the seventh inning, three hitters in he walked out Contra Double by body and then pinch hit. Uh, got a base hit. And next thing, you know, uh, Tyler Rogers came in, and boy Tyler Rogers. Couple blue pits off of him, but he ended up striking Contreras out. Reverse out and that inning was over. And sure enough, Watson Nice 123 innings And McGee gives up a double to wisdom, but he ends up, settled down and got two ground balls to first in the game was over. McGee getting his 31st save Logan Web getting his 10th win Logan Web 10 and three on the season. And Tyler Rogers and his 70 appearance. 77 0. That's how many appearances he has been for the orange and black. And what can you say about Tony Watson just as really been dialed in ever since putting That Giants uniform back on. He's been an 18 appearances as a 2.8 earned run average for the Giants. So a stellar job coming in from the bullpen and saving this game for the win for Logan Web Alright, we're going to do play the game coming up next. We're going to talk about it. "Jake McGee is a one and done guy used to be just kind of feel it out. But it gets real dicey, and we've seen this over the history of baseball. When you get guys up and down like closers are later in relievers who are not used to doing it. You get more guys used to doing that, the more comfortable I think you are late in the ballgame or in a pinch like this, where you need to go deeper. He was cruising. Three and two thirds innings. Four strikeouts for Arlen Garcia. How about how about cap? We're talking about the line up last night. They've not gone by the way one run in their last 18 innings of baseball. They got shut out in Atlanta couple of days ago, I went back and looked at it thinking how many times have they lost back to back games since the All Star break? This is 44 times in the last 40 something games. They've lost back to back games, uh, going back to that first series July 16th against ST Louis. They lost back to back in that series. Uh, And then it's only happened three other times since then, and and this is one of them that last game in Atlanta and this first game here against Milwaukee, so game capital talks that they just got shut down. Corbyn. Burns was lights out back on August 6th earlier this month against the Giants. Seven innings. Four hits one earned five strikeouts in a walk last night, six innings. Four hits, nine strikeouts. One earned no walks, 17 swinging strikes they go, Devin Williams, they go, Josh hater. It was a Brad Box burger. This bullpen for the Brewers is dangerous. Here's Kapler when getting shut down last night. Yeah, I mean, it's easier to touch on on what we just saw, obviously, and Burns was as good as he normally is one of the top two or three starting pitchers in baseball, and then we faced, you know, three of the better relievers in baseball, and you know, the bottom line is there and they just shut us down. We weren't able to get anything going and when we're we're able to get a rally here or there. We weren't able to capitalize at the end. We did take some good swings. I thought roofs ball was blistered. I feel I thought Lamont way It had some great at bad Sprint belt had some great at bats. Well, we just weren't really able to get anything going like like we normally are and a team that there's some good arms at us. Peterson he's talking about good at bats. Brandon built did have a good one. They kind of grind it out that got Corbyn Burns to get out of the ballgame. And then here comes Brandon Crawford. I don't know how many times Crawford had to come up this year. I know what happened last week against the Mets, where they brought in Aaron Loup right before Crawford was coming. Up to him, and he ripped the ball and got a base knock and scored a run couple of runs, I think and took the lead and Giants came back and won. That game might have been game one of that series against the Mets game water game to remember which night that was, but it happened again yesterday with and they bring in another reliever to face vitamin box burger They bring into face Crawford against the base, knock to to score a run. They do this a lot where, you know, I I never really paid much attention to this because it was Barry Bonds, but it would happen to bonds all the time, and not just Bringing in a lessee specialists to face him just that you would change the way you approach the game because he was coming up. I know Crawford doesn't have the Barry Bonds impact. But when it happens consistently where you're locked in on facing a certain picture, you think you're going to see this guy? It's maybe my third time seeing this guy. Then they go to the pen. And now you've got to adjust your thinking. Sort of seconds before you're going up there. They're bringing a guy to throw seven warm up pitches Now you got to go. A big deal for him to step up and have this much success or be this consistent with runners in scoring position, especially when he's facing different pictures. Then he's anticipating facing when he steps into the on deck circle. Some Crawford capitals, right good at bats from belt. They're good or bad from Crawford. There's a couple of the got as bad yesterday that we're really not that great Yesterday. Alex Dickerson kind of lackluster bad then Mikey Ostrovsky comes up swings at the first pitch. And and just sort of sort of hurts that really a rally killer is what happened yesterday that Darren Rough stepped up yesterday and, uh and in a pinch hit situation, ripped a line drive into left field, which could've broken not broken the game open but would have tied the game at the point would have made it to to the next inning is when things got out of whack a little bit for Dom Leone and Who Luis aureus hits the ground rule double to center field after a walk and based on from rowdy to less and things got out of not out of hand but obviously made it a little bit bigger of a lead. Gabe Kapler talked about that at bat from Darren Rough, who ripped the ball 107 miles an hour right at the left fielder. It ended the inning. Here's capital on that rough at bat. Well, I mean, I think it it could have. It could have ended with a bang right? And I think that's the thing that I'll remember. Is Darren up there with the chance to to put us in a really good spot in that game. I think he turns up underneath that ball just tiny bit and it's in the seeds put a really good swing on it. And obviously we weren't able to capitalize. But that's really what I'm thinking about that in the Yeah, Me too. So what I thought rough coming up. I'm looking at his numbers. I'm going. This feels pretty good. This might be the spot right here. It felt like just based on what we've seen from Giants offense late. In games this season that that was the moment it was gonna was going to fall. I really did think they were going to base knock. This thing was going to rip open a little bit for the Giants. And maybe here came the floodgates, right? But they didn't even see Josh hater a couple of weeks ago in, uh In or about a month ago. I should say three weeks ago when they were in Milwaukee. They didn't even see hater so kind of kind of nice of the Brewers to hold them off till this series. Seriously, not a team. I'm confident facing when you get to the postseason, probably the best pitching team as far as rotation goes right now, people look at the Dodgers and say if you can get Clayton Kershaw back, but he just keeps getting pushed back. And Julio Urias and Walker Buehler insurers are a dangerous Trio. I do think Corbyn Burns is wicked with that cutter. He doesn't have to be at his best. He doesn't have to have his best stuff to get you out. He can get you to roll over stuff, break bad swings and misses Kris Bryant hit on this Brewers team, and he's like, Look. He came from the National League Central. He's seen the Brewers every year for all of his career, and he sees him show up now in San Francisco. He's like..

Four chunks of audio that really get you going. I have a gift, and I am trying to not be selfish about it. But to use it on K NPR one. Oh, 45 Inch 68, the sports leader, Giants hang on 32 over the Mets, but it wasn't easy because you see Jake McGee had to get a five out save. It wasn't a traditional five out save Brandon Belt Drop day. Foul pop and then in center in center field, Alex Dickerson and Austin Slater collided and that ball went to the ground as well. So it was looking kind of grim. Here's what Gabe Kapler said. On the mix up in the outfield, the ninth, So starting with this later Dickerson play. I haven't had a chance to talk to either one of them about that, but I'm assuming that they were both calling the ball if if, In fact, they were both calling the ball. It's obviously Slater's ball. Center fielder has the ability to call anybody off on the field, and we actually encourage them to be that aggressive. Um, that's where I imagine happen. But without really talking to dick enslaves. I can't be sure at this point it looked like it was. It was later involved again. I really want to talk to those guys before I Make any assumptions about to play. I know he's being nice, but we all know that that's a set of real this ball. Dick was in the wrong Wrong place hasn't been the first time, Janet Yes, Wrong. Stay in your area. Exactly. Don't go there. Yeah, they they did The Dick Dick Dick chant. But it was different. Yes. Yes, I thought the interesting thing was pinch hitting for your Stransky was Slater. Otherwise, Stransky since late center and you place later next to him. So they just they don't think defense. Yeah, but And you know, Dick has been okay. He's not the most mobile. I don't know what his zone rating is. We don't think it's high. But that one was a clear cut mistake, But they won the game wasn't a perfect game last night, posing a beautiful day in New York today. "What do you think about this music? Sort of being the opening music with rocky season? That sort of let to be Well, you know, with Grant, you never know what kind of music you're going to get. You just have to stay. Right on your feet. That's it. That's it, a sort of like this. So I've got to say I mean, Rick and Cathy and I really fired up about getting this thing. Ah, kicked off to use a football metaphor. But I I got to think the guy's going to call in the games is equally if not more excited. Yeah, it's it's been crazy, Dave. You know, this is year 35 for me and Major League baseball and I've been through some work stoppages and some strikes and Uh, 9 11 and all of that, But boy, nothing like this. You know, the months of Waiting and hoping and, you know, here we are a little more than 24 hours away, and it looks like at least we're going to start. So that's a good thing. Hey, Jack. We had Joe Buck on earlier in the week and talk to him about what it is going to be like calling. Not only baseball, but football games from a remote location. What do you think about the price of you've done it before? If you call the game off a monitor from Outside of a stadium. Um, you know, Ironically, Rick, when I audition for the Indian's job in the winter of 84 into 85 85 was my first year. Way auditioned off of a monitor. And it was strange because that was just the programme feeds. You really couldn't see anything else going on. Other than what? The TV director decided to show you my crisis and I we're practicing a little bit last night at the studios with the feed. We're going to get an a at least There are more camera angles. More monitors. Uh, but you really do feel a sense of being disjointed. You know that you're not there even without the fans. To not be in the ballpark for these road games is really a weird feeling. I think he get into the rhythm, but it is strange. There's no question of that. And I think we have to be honest with the audience and let them know that this is what we're doing. And if it's strange for them well, guess what strange for us, do you? No doubt about that Jet Corrigan voice the Rockies are guest, Jack. Along with Mike Reiss will have the action starting tomorrow. Rockies and the Rangers. Let me ask you backto baseball. I was I was surprised frankly, that Jake McGee and Brian Shaw got released. Not because of their performance because it it it. It had not been up to par, but because that they still had guaranteed money on their deals. What in your mind? What did those two moves signify, if anything to you about the Rockies? Well, I think it showed Dave that that they were willing t eat some money. Short term for Ah, Long term benefit your right. I mean, they're going to be paying McGee and Shaub I think had combined even with the pro rated salary still You know about $67 million for the two of them. But there was that possibility of them making enough appearances that it would vest their option for 2021 quite frankly, for Jake and and for Brian, you know really good guys and all of that, but they weren't the same pictures and in a short season Where you need people who can perform in the bullpen, especially early on. I think they just said, Hey, we've got guys who are better than them right now. And this is what we have to do. Interesting, Jack. I thought the same thing is Dave in a short season, where A lot of owners air acting like they're going to lose money, or certainly, revenues are going to be down that they were willing to eat that kind of money. And then you see the contract that Mookie Betts God During a short season, when supposedly everybody's going to lose money they gave him what a $65 million guarantee a signing bonus of 65 million The whole contract's guaranteed. But you just write your name on a piece of paper. Oh, and here's your $65 million that that kind of surprised me too. Yeah, I think it surprised everybody in the industry. I think the Dodgers to be honest with you, Rick. I get the sense. This deal was getting finalized in spring training and they were looking Tio. You know, make the big splash come opening day and then everything shut down because of the virus, and they weren't allowed to do contracts for a period of time and Then I think they decided even in a shortened season again. We'll get garner the publicity doing it before the start of the shortened season. It's a it's a Big move. I mean it. It's not unlike what the Chiefs did with Patrick Mahomes. They think this is in Mookie Betts of on M V P Type player that is going to stay good for a long period of time. And, of course, the Dodgers. Maybe the richest. If not, you know, one of the top three riches franchises in baseball. If anybody could do it, they could Rocky's open their 28th major league season tomorrow night in Arlington, Texas. They will play their first have a regular season game at what they call that Globe life. I think Loeb life field, Jack Corrigan and and Mike Reiss will have all the action. What before I let you go? What? What? Couple of things? Need to happen in your mind for the Rockies. I mean, obviously getting off to a great start a fast starts going to be important in a 60 game season. But what couple of things are of paramount importance if the Rockies are actually going to contend in a short season to make the playoffs Well, certainly, and not just because of the of the virus. But But health is always paramount, especially from a baseball perspective. Your pitching health, and the Rockies certainly know that Those front four guys marcas grave free land and sends a tele have to stay healthy. The Rockies depth and in the starting rotation is not as good as other areas of the rosters. So those guys staying healthy, important. Unfortunately, they're goingto start the year, probably the first week without Scott Oberg and and that's tough for the back end. So pitching health is important. I think the other big thing day will be The top of the line up, You know you you line up for guys who played in the All Star game last year and dull story Ah, Renato on Blackman, So you know what they are capable of doing. It's going to be that next four in the lineup if you will Ryan McMahon as to continue to develop the They need to see some growth from rhyme. L top year Sam Hilliard. They gotta hope Matt camps got some fuel left in the tank. It sure looked like he did through this summer camp. That would be a nice bonus because you have the D H. But I think they can't be too top heavy in their lineup. The other guys, you always want somebody a little bit of a surprise to step forward, and I think that's important. What type of protocol has baseball set up for you and your announcers and people to cover the team? How much is that changed other than obviously doing the games of the road games from? Ah, monitor like you're doing what else is going to be different for you guys? You know, Rick, that's that's a great question. The biggest thing and you guys encounter the same process with with the NFL with the Broncos and And it's still hard for me to get used to the fact I can't go into the clubhouse. I can't be on the field for batting practice. I can't see guys in a lobby at a hotel on the road and say, Hey, you got time for lunch or a cup of coffee, too. You know, to talk a little bit. Everything is Structured. Everything is remote that that's going to be a challenge. We have to go through the testing protocols. Temperature, at least and the the list of questions they ask. I don't know how frequently they will do actual coded tests on the media..

I'll be sure to pass those along to him when he joins us. that number also handy whether you want to call the show or tax the show not just one mats on all the time. five two two nine eight seven two all by the way. coming up later this hour. are you may have seen that. an important figure in our country it has now. come under impeachment proceedings or is that is being called for. we need to do the same thing in sports I think I so the question is in this will be our poll question today add extra sports thirteen hundred on Twitter. if you could bring impeachment proceedings on either John Elway or Jeff bright age which one would you pick. or because we don't want to be limiting. would you want to impeach the president of your favorite team so get into that at the bottom of the hour I think I make a compelling case for either Elway or Jeff pride H.. I think a little bit better for Jeff prided. but we'll get into that coming up at the bottom of the hour. gastar today though with baseball because of course. we always start the show with baseball. you know what the only thing worse. they meaningless baseball games in September our. meeting was baseball games that start at eight o'clock at night. you know what's worse. the meeting was baseball games in September that start at eight o'clock at night meaningless baseball games that start at eight am last sixteen innings. and don't have any scoring from the ninth inning to the fifteen pending. I can top that okay. baseball game just started a clock okay meaningless well okay I guess half meaningless because that's the are a guide you beat. but. only one run over nine innings rule okay it was the first batter of the game. is that the cardinals Diamondbacks yes dexter follower let off the game with a home run no runs scored until the nine. and then each no more runs were scored until the third teen. and then again in the nineteen. so it was. last night was pretty awful Dallas. they went sixteen innings in only combined for twenty hits. which is Salt Lake why is it I know they played a really long game like twenty two or twenty three innings in San Diego. but it always seems like they do this in San Francisco they always go to extras it's always well into the night you got the singles on the field. I mean it's just the most depressing site whether the Rockies are good or the giants are good or they're both bad like they are this year yeah twenty five pitchers use last night that would be a new Major League Baseball record which is insane because baseball has been around for three hundred and seventy five million years so the fact that. only last night the two teams use twenty five combined pitchers in the game it's crazy it's why every single night you'll see something you've never seen a base and was in a long as came by innings. no one not even close not even close but twenty five pitchers rows that's crazy. you know what's crazier. if I were to tell you that of those twenty five pitchers not a single one of them were named Wade Davis or Jake McGee. twenty five pitchers threw in that game. not wait Davis. not Jake McGee and only Brian Shaw appeared to close out the game in the bottom of the sixteenth inning so how many starters the the the the drop down Manny okay but more than it was basically a whole pain game because Jeff Hoffman started but but more than Jeff Hoffman. I don't think so. he was the only starter the pits I think he was the only star that pitch go back and look his twenty five pitcher you gotta think that that that's a starter to that's coming out of the bullpen I mean who knows. who is a starter and who isn't anymore with the Rockies that's true isn't there half the rotation on the DL. I don't I I don't really know let me look real quick but twenty five pitchers in only and no way Davis no Jake McGee and Brian Shaw only pitched whining. no here's this murderers row to make you feel even better about the fact that Wade Davis and Jake McGee black decided man I don't need you and only relied on Brian Shaw at the last moment Hoffman to no co amante pasos Johnson Estevez D. as Parsons deal Harvey how our job. if I were to do a contest where I would give you ten thousand dollars if you could tell me the first names of half of those pictures you would not be able to do it. Jeff Hey suse CNC Jeff DJ Carlos Hiero Wes fill up Jordan Sam Brian. pay me my money. yeah No Way Davis no Jake McGee which is actually the greatest thing about the Rockies these days is that Bob black as basically given the middle finger to Wade Davis Jake McGee and Brian shop hardly thrown him in September it's amazing. makes you wonder why he damn ploy this strategy and I don't know April. but if you stayed up for the five and a half hours. that that game lasted all sixteen innings you were rewarded. by one. Charles C. black men. yeah that would say well this center going back is poor the friends he had two years. Charlie black. absolutely. in the Rockies could the tie the lead eight to five in the sixteenth inning. Rockies radio on the call but you know why I feel like you're not getting an accurate description of what happened last night in San Francisco because of course Jerry Shamil is excited he is one day closer to being off for the winter. so of course he's excited. I feel that the giants call of Charlie black wins home run is more of an accurate description of the scene last night and really more than that truly captures the essence of a baseball game on September twenty fourth between teams that are combined forty seven games below five hundred. two one one out for black men the pitch.

"League play today. The final was nine to three some great individual efforts from the Rockies. Let's listen in on some of the highlights. The bitch is ripped into left field. It's a it Murphy being waived in Williams enough with the ball. He's going to fire back in the second base than Trevor story will take third and Desmond wind went into left field for a base. It drives in a run and the Rockies draw. I today after glanced a second the pitch swing, and I miss foul tipped held on by. I n de crew comes back with a couple of strikeouts. To finish off the giants in the third Elvin. Don ready to pitch Brown. Paul Paul prayer down the left field line that'll be extra basis for Desmond long road. Again for Williamson Desmond is going to try for three to throw to third base in. He is. Got under the tank. Mcgee strike free cold it caught the outside pointer. Good work in the Rockies left hitter. Jake McGee today. One one-two-three with a couple of strikeouts in this fifth inning, two two pitch. Dr not oh it down the left field line and deep moving back as Williamson the track to the wall. Towering shot to left field by Nolan auto his second home on the spring, the Rockies tackle. And they lead it four to nothing runners moving bitch on the way is the right field hill, you're on the run he dives and makes the cats. Oh, a ground. He has a throwback to second for a double play. He'll do that is built is already around third. It's a double play what a catch by Hilliard. Lying flat out near the right field line gets up and throws the horror out a second. It's a double play. The two old. You sit down the left field line. Got a chance to go back is almost in. It is gone and a fair ball wave site. The foul pole. The lake a second consecutive day has hit a home run in the Rockies. Get the two runs back. They up four lead. Again, it is forty two. From the stretch with a basis loaded the bitch to talk many pulls out one fair down the right field side that was score at least to talk with his wait a second. And he will hold up there. That's going to be a on double, Mike talk. Men. Hold it down that right field line white by Ryder Jones. He took it die for it. And couldn't get it. It is eight to two Rockies. Here's a pitch. Left centerfield again. It's well-struck going back is Ferguson to the wall. And this is gone. Home one day for Pat milwak-, no doubt. Down the left field line. No doubt left center field that is nine to three Rockies day pet bully. They certainly did that.

"They have plenty of internal options, obviously, with par cargo out, that's going to give David Dolan opportunity. So you're gonna have doll and black men and then maybe get somebody in center field Blackman's defense, not something I really want out there. He's never had a good arm in. I don't know that age, thirty two. You want him tracking things down in the most difficult center field in the game. But that pitching is young. And I think they're going to continue to be successful and how if you told them that they were going to have a wild, excuse me an LDS season. With John putting five twelve ERA on the year. They said, you're crazy or say, hey, you can have John gray, five, twelve, ERA, and thirty one starts and Jake McGee one of your big free agent signings. It's gonna put up a six forty, nine and fifty one in the third, and you're gonna go to the LDS said, you're absolutely insane. There's no possible chance. Hell could even throw in Brian Shaw. Another big acquisition, five ninety three areas. So three key pitching pieces to acquisitions and they're, they're extensible ace. We're going to be worthless when they're gonna be negatives and there's still going to have this season. They would take it and so they've got something to build on their, but just didn't work out this year. Erik Lindbergh says, that's too is in Iraq who you're Tehran will be the Braves postseason MVP. Now that's an interesting when he's yet to pitch in the playoffs in this series is not starting today that's going to be fully against rich hill. Would they put. Them out for a game five and and give him a shot at at at being there lobby so they have to win today. Let's let's put that out there that doesn't happen without a win today, but do they then go to Tehran in game? Five? I'm kind of surprised that he hasn't started hasn't pitched at all. He was really strong for them in the second half really getting the job done. You know, limiting hits in particular. He was very difficult to hit a lot of one eighty six batting average in the second half and route two or three eighty six ERA and a one fourteen whip it the three hundred sixty wasn't that much better than the four era he had in the first half, but I think it was. It was better supported because he was so difficult to hit Tehran was he had a one Twenty-one whip in the in the first verses one eleven in the second half. So a big change there. I think it would take something like that though to get started, he would have to win today the Braves, and then game five. Turn to Tehran and he would have to be there their savior there and come out with, you know six strong innings or something to that degree to really turn it around. Interestingly enough, right after that, the very next one in line I'm not going out of order. Here was Johnny, underscore Utah. Thirteen said Johan Camargo LCS MVP. So to two in a row here talking about Braves, getting getting playoff MVP's there. And again, they have to win today and then game five to keep going. And then you'll hand Camargo would have to go off against Milwaukee. It's not out of bounds. He had a really quietly a great season this year. Five hundred twenty four plate appearances with two seventy.

"And I was very afraid of them in the wild card game and and not to read board. But I mean, I thought they were reasonable price in the game that happened last night. What's your gut on the Rockies is, do the numbers. Tell the story or do the eyeballs in September. Tell the story. I wouldn't necessarily focus just on September. Obviously, they played exceptionally well down the stretch. Shockingly really thought, I, I, I still for the most part, I would focus on their underlying numbers over the course of the season, and they outscored their opponents by only pretty five runs, which is, as you know, basically nothing they, they could almost easily have finished blow five hundred as as as when ninety. One games that it's almost exactly dead even heat. They that said, I do think there little better in the postseason than the regular season because one of the things that they didn't do well, this season was pitch at the back end of their rotation. Kyle Freeland started. The wildcard game was a had a tremendous season when you when. Consider the ballpark Herrmann Marquez also had an outstanding season. You consider the ballpark. So if they can leverage the innings with those two guys, I think they're better than their their overall team numbers and especially because they do on their bullpen. You know, it's funny. I just assumed that they're open was tremendous season because they were so good last year under new manager, bud black, but they really weren't that great. I mean, they had some guys, some big roles with Yar as around six, six and a half. And I don't know that that's a fluke if they gave up a lot of home runs and didn't strike out a ton of guys. So where does bug black, find the innings. I'm not sure. I think he seems to have settled into better pitchers than Brian Sean. Jake McGee who struggled to see so much pitching a fair number of innings, but and crew. Throughs and to the it six with a lot of ending. So it really didn't go that. Well, the biggest reason for their. Subpar run differential. Playoff came anyway is the fact that they had three relief pitchers combining for our a well about six hundred fifty innings hundred sixty inning. So that's if you take those guys out of the equation and you can do that in October. Then they start looking quite a bit better. So I think they're, they're probably better than the run differential. I don't think they're better than their in their in their overall record. That makes perfect sense. When you look at head to head during the regular season, especially recent form, if you're talking about horses and you were comparing the Rockies and the dodgers you'd see, well, four wins in a row. What chance? What chance with the Rockies have against them? The dodgers just looking at those little pieces of data are would appear to be clearly superior in your experience. Looking at.

"You're not even close throughout the game because you give up a five spot. We're standing, but then you abouts back. You show some Tennessee. You show some spunky, Joe Simko Honus with that extra inning win in eleven innings there on Sunday. And you know, again for them, same thing, blown salmon thinning at amount of vino gives it up and then you outs back and get that win there in the eleventh that's a big win for team. Mike, Colorado, that's building blocks going into, tonight's match up with the Pittsburgh Pirates in town. So these are the little things. The little nuances that you wanna look for here at this time of the baseball season. Because obviously, you know, as we transition to football here on the show, you're probably doing the same thing with your personal handicapping transitioning over to the football side of things. Maybe baseball takes a back seat as you're doing your research and. Betting the preseason and maybe a little bit late to the season win total market. But maybe you're doing that as well. And of course, we've got all one hundred and thirty teams previewed over Bengal book dot com for the upcoming college football season, but these little things that you want to look for here and you can find some situational angles at this time of the year kind of is the dog days of summer. Even though the all star break was just two weeks ago. It's the grind. You know the the grind of trying to catch that little bit of a breather is something that teams do try to do here at this time of the year. And sometimes they will slip up and sometimes you can kind of see those spots coming. Do I think that the Rockies you know, have some difficulty here today with the with the pirates. I certainly think that it's possible you I wrote up my picks and tips very early in the morning here mostly looking at the overnight lines, but you know, that is one of the the angles that I was kind of looking at. One of the angles I was sort of considering here is to take Pittsburgh tonight you'll because the market did come in on Pittsburgh. You've got Kyle Freeland regression. Candidate. You've had a couple of blown saves over the last three days for Colorado. Brian Shaw is still not usable. Jake McGee still not useable. So you've got a hope that Wade Davis, D'amoto vino figure this thing out, whereas Pittsburgh's back into the bullpen with some of their call ups here this season with the initial Kiani Keila they've got a very strong back end of the bullpen. That's what you wanna do here this time of the year. If you're looking to play dogs, play on dogs that have strong bullpens because you need those.

"The pair of brian shaw and jake mcgee which also cost about fifty four million between two of them if they would've put that towards carlos santana as opposed to one of those sets of relievers geico's four on here's white for all the assumptions that are being made about this rockies team next year and a lot of the defence of this of spending a hundred day spent a hundred million dollars on three relievers this offseason okay this is not the yankees this is not the dodgers this is the rockies who spent hundred million dollars they have charlie blackman who will be a free agent after the 2018 season have nolan aeronautical who will be a free agent i believe after the 2019 season yeah okay so you have money that is going to come up that needs to be spent first of all second of all when people have been defending this way davis paying the highest average annual value for any relief pece pitcher in history i believe the the defense is well our our offense is already set okay and we have lots of young starting pitchers well here's the deal dude you're offense is actually not set okay that are really have a first basement they don't they don't have a first baseman and if you look at the production of the offense last season don't look at batting average we all know what course feel does the batting average okay if you look at the stats actually normalize across the league they were the eleventh twelve or thirteen th best offense in the national league last year you can look at waited runs created you can look at war you can look at adjusted ops you can really look at anything and it shows you that the rockies offense last year had two stars blattman an aeronautical and almost nothing else of impact in that lineup so you're telling me that this team is so ready to go so good to go that you need to spend one hundred million dollars on three relievers rather than investing in an offense that was closer to the padres and the giants last year than it was the dodgers dikes but i think that unit you also could have impact players with like trevor story in dj lemeiux.
