"The show all right well. It has been quite the week for this man. This past saturday came through a dominant performance against alexander. Volkoff in the nfc vegas thirty. We were wondering where he would go from there. And it turns out less than forty eight hours later. We found out he's heading the houston texas on august. Seventh you two sixty five's unified derek. Lewis for the interim ufc heavyweight championship. Zero gone joins us right now. Sarah how are you sir momentum. I'm good on you. i'm good. This has been quite a few days for you sir. Let me just start off with this. You win the fight on saturday. When were you approached with this. Derek lewis fi. Like how quickly did this happen momentum. Little bit tired. Before we knew that because uc santa message to out a best and final best do tonight and maybe after after after this one out of the good news in. I understand the what's happening. Ishai ishani the fighting and the win just arrived in france on monday. We vadym is atta. Yeah outside of the ucla year now are so you knew this before the fight itself like this is already on the table yes is well not exactly clear but But yes yes but but we can talk about that but when you don't have the contract is not official so but when you that i was a stay really focused on the fight against because we miss to win the fight fall for how the chance to fight I was really focused and we did it so on monday. When you find out this news that it's official. How did you react to it like how. How did you react to finding out that. It's a done deal. Your next fight is for an interim title on some. I was really happy with the ib because for me for me in some things some things i mean young guy just a write in and i'm a hundred headline after just threes in the hand inmates. All that's really crazy. I've been up here clearly. You're not gonna turn down an opportunity like this but obviously came as a shock to everybody. Especially since this whole thing. Started with the idea of francis and ghana fighting john jones and it went to francis getting ready to fight derek lewis. And now it's you fighting derek lewis for the title. I knew you know about it. Like i know you knew about it right before the fight with volchkov but were you surprised that this opportunity came your way yesterday because because we knew no mattie would be of hans against a directly with but the i have the fans are not come on free fighting. This chose me do you do you kind of feel for francis in the situation. Because from all accounts he would have been ready to fight and september against derrick lewis. He just won the belt three months ago. Do you kind of feel bad for him in this situation because he or the rest of his team. They apparently didn't seem to have any clue that this was happening. No no no. No no. But i can understand i can understand but no because For me you just you just. It's a it's a an only in english. you just enter data so trump. John's steelers conscious saw notaries. Okay this is just an interim daito saul so for me if i was Is nothing for me. Okay so if you are in francis issues just like these guys are fighting for an interim title. It effectively could be my next opponents. But it's still the world champion actor so you're now in this spot but i do want to go back to how you got there because you beat alexander volkov. I thought you did a fantastic job mixing things up. You kept him guessing. You stayed out of his range just enough where it seemed that not only was it effective but it seems like you are frustrating. Him throughout the fight as well a key. He just couldn't get to you as effectively as he wanted to. How would you grade your performance. Over on saturday Maybe maybe all for me was really good performance Because we knew we knew like to to make a pressure on a is a on the formula site. Make a pressure destroy. the man. and i've decided i'm exhibition and without them. Yeah i thought it was a fantastic performance so with with that win. You're in this crazy position. Almost three years to the day you make your professional debut. You're fighting for for a ufc title. Has this whole ride just been like a whirlwind for you. Have you been able to smell the roses and all because it really is incredible to see how quickly you've put yourself in this position. Naturally you should know. I'm ed my gym so we go by already At work so we don't have time to do to do time all fall from happy that by the let's get you can do that after your career right like is there's no resting at all for you right now. So now. derek lewis is the man who stands in front of you. He's won four straight. Got back to back. Pretty ferocious nocco. It's it's not always pretty when derek fights a boys that effective because he only needs that one shot. What do you think of the matchup and think of derek as an opponent suits guy with a dangerous and we know that like jazz like jokes when the one that wanted this guy that you just one nine you down. And that's very that's very dangerous. All i think got imagine that jim and you never threatening. I think we're going to do that. I think i think i have some skits to them. Have you been impressed with what he has done. As of late because he seems to be evolving a little bit more. There is a little more technique to his craziness if you will most civic the knockout. He had against curtis blades. Have you been impressed with what he's been able to do. As of late..

"This is a podcast only episode. Why because we wanted to get these other interviews out post. What the heck. From this past week to i have been super sick and you might be able to still kinda here. The remnants of my voice the last probably four or five days and has been rough between the links on thursday. Was kinda like the last straw as soon as that show ended. I was done zo for friday saturday. Pretty much crushed my entire long weekend. Like i try to make the most of it but i spent a lot of time just in bed and trying to get through it and i think i'm sort of getting on the other side. Now is monday july fifth desire record this finally got back and got a workout in the gym and you know it was kind of a light one kind of fogged me up a little bit. But i think we're getting through onto the other side of this but it hasn't been pretty for being honest so there's that and then the other reason is we had this long holiday weekend that we mentioned before and it just made things a little easier on the rest of the crew. Casey alex jose myself also. Don't wanna leave myself out of that to do it this way so i show happens it. It's happening right now as you listen. We just don't have the video angle but the good news is all of those interviews that you're gonna here on this show if you wanna see them. Visually they are on our youtube page for you to check out so let us run down the lineup and the show will be off and running and then pretty much. That's the last you're going to hear from me outside of just asking the fighters questions and having these discussions. So we're going to wrap things up with sarah alpar who made some headlines for starting a go fund me page as a ufc fighter. And then she made even more headlines. Because jake paul and shriller donated thirty thousand dollars combined to said page. Now i will. Have you know this interview happened before jake. Paul made it public that he don't in a lot of people were like. You just interviewed her. Because jake paul donated. No i was going to interview her. Anyways we were just discussing the go fund me page. She tells me that. Jake paul donated. I had no idea that it was happening. And then probably like fifteen minutes after the interview stops. That's when jake made it official. But sarah obviously knew about it. We reacted to it together. It's a great interview and you'll hear that a little bit later on to wrap up this week. Show eric niksic. The head coach of one francis in gone new joins the show. Because if you haven't heard already francis and ghana will not be fighting in the next heavyweight championship fight for the ufc. In fact we're going to have an interim heavyweight title fight on august seventh in the main event of ufc two sixty five between derek lewis and cyril gone so arrogant exit is gonna join us to react to this news. Did he or francis have any knowledge of this was going down. What was his thoughts on. This whole thing doesn't mean maybe there's a civil lining. Maybe the afc could be working on friends and gone versus john jones plus. He's also the head coach for a number of different fighters. He works with other fighters as well including algebra main sterling. So again update on him. Michel tate is coming back. He's her head coach. She's fighting july seventeenth against marian. So we'll talk about that and a lot more we've heard about a number of heavyweights in the mix for the fate or a million anco sweepstakes. We heard a couple of weeks ago. That on october twenty third. He's going to be returning to action for balladur anime headlining in event in moscow. And now you can add another name to that list jake. Hager the former. Wwe world heavyweight champion. The current awa wrestler undefeated ballatore fighter. He wants his fight. This is not k. Fade this not social media stuff. He really wants us fight. He's going to explain. Why in around twenty minutes or so. But first let's check in with the affirmation sierra gone as he prepares for his interim title fight with derek. Lewis a little over a month time at ufc. Two sixty five. I will leave you with these conversations. Have a heck of a week. Everybody and enjoy the show all right well. It has been quite the week for this man. This past saturday came through a dominant performance against alexander. Volkoff.

"That's what I thought you meant. No. Are you like, oh, you're not wearing a jacket or anything a little bit? You know, it's funny. On my Facebook right now during that song chunk is doing the triple shuffle. Somebody's posted a picture. So funny with the music, I was laughing the dam dropped because I was thinking how. Me and Kevin Lee laughing little schoolgirls on Friday with that drop because I find it funny. And then the fact that somebody else finally found it's funny as me, and it was Kevin Leany couldn't control his laughter. When we came back. They had me going. So you like the Josh mitt made Kevin's Petit aspect too. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, we only got a few minutes and gives them respect to Ryan Bater came the heavyweight champion over a bell tower. They haven't had one such a long time. He's their new heavyweight champion. He's the bell tour grand, prix champions. That's two belts. And then he walked in there with a belt, and he's their light heavyweight champion. Eze guys is the best fighter at bell toria. Maybe ever maybe ever. Yeah. Between him and Joe Orna to belts as well. Patrizio is the most winning spider. Right. Isn't he technically those titles most wins? And he's a champion as well. I mean, the only guy that I could see maybe challenge talked about going to one seventy maybe one a title there. But yeah, I mean, I don't see how maters come in. Yeah. And he's got some really really good names that he's beating all those names of you know, done just phenomenal worker in other promotions held other titles. I mean fade or still regarded as one of the greatest of not the greatest in many people's eyes went out there and beat them in thirty five seconds beat him with a left hook it. Which is something fate or has done too, many fighters. I remember clear one at a flick shin when he caught Tim sivy with it. It's sometimes it's like a jumping. I kinda like Scotts back and forth a little bit. So I say it's like a jumping left hook. But he's kinda Skadden back and forth. And he gets just in that range where you can clip. You got super fast hands keeps his right hand low. But he's powerful. But in thirty five seconds. What are you gonna do man? The other guy just decided to go before you and boom right on the button a follow up. Holy cow. And million go got some follow service, man. It was really really bad just to see that in slow motion. You're like, oh, God what she wouldn't have taken that one too. But that's the game. It's all happening super fast. You don't get the benefit of slow motion and the referee hate we all that guys also trying to gauge as best to see if he survived it or not. And he's gotta do the the whole tackle move or the interceptor move, and it's tough to do. But fadiman sorry Ryan Bater was you know, unstoppable throughout this whole tournament and on Saturday night. I wanna flip it on you for a second. Because there's watching fate or Inca watching him live live. There's the walkout music. You see the flags away people get into it. And I mean, I I know 'cause I've seen a lot of them with you. You've seen actually fight live quite a bit. Yeah. What was this one? Like, all right. So what I thought of and I'll make it quick. 'cause we got in. He was walking down the ramp. And it was really cool just to see him have that presence. He's an iconic figure in our sport. And that's that's what he should have. You know what I mean? He's coming out there to entertain us possibly one of the last times. But I'll tell you what it was before the fight. They had the two anthems. So I got to see them stand there and go through that. I mean if I should've happened like five minutes before did. But they're both in their just contract. Stay warm be respectful, but I'm just watching fate or and I'm just going. Wow. I hope this isn't it winter lose. I hope this isn't it? And after the result, I think in might be but still I was just going..

"Like isn't for you guys. You jump on Twitter. Like, I'm coming. I'm like on stuff. So it doesn't bother me as much, but I guess maybe like fans their their hands. Folded. Right. Going to tweet, and he's only gonna have twenty five people respond. I mean media people have two thousands. And so there's more interaction, but don't get in the family or something. I'm I'm always doing stuff in between. What you do the next by you know, the sandwich at some points, come out ready. I watch the dish of what I just did grabbing a beer changes start changing laundry low. Hey, I'm a responsible adult, and I yeah. Believe me man as as a parent to a dog in the household. No, just kidding good. This a lot of people off. But no, no, I make good value of the time. But to add devil's advocate, I will say this because again, I fast pacing too. But here's a devil's advocate of that like ACB, for example. They'll just go fight fight fight fight fight twenty fight card and like their underrated low key. Good fight. Sue, so I'm not crapping on ECB when I say this. But here's devil's advocate, especially because they're on Russian times Saturday during the day, watch fights a little primer before the fights tonight. Especially me, right. Not anonymous reports fan, I'm only combat sports guy. So it's right up. My alley but even. That you get sucked in and it's great. But then you don't have time to do other things. And next thing, you know, you've just sat for three hours because it didn't allow you. You're you're hard core fan demento the words works against you. If the pacing is going to enable you like that. And next thing, you know, now, you've got nothing done cried. Now, I gotta finish the UFC prelims are starting the Biltmore cards starting tonight. The main you're rushing and there goes your Saturday. So you gotta be careful what you wish for when you had those fight unless you're like, Dan from Oregon status other than that. You gotta be careful what you wish for their man, I'm doing laundry and pig on a dump. I mean, there's all kinds of stuff you can fight tender. I I know exactly what you're saying. But I think there's just people that sit down and say, this is my vent, and they're not moving and whatever it's their problem one or two Leto defeated Ricky Benda has decision. This guy's was all over the place, really really high pace. I'll tell you what the crowd is. What helped me enjoy even more BanDai has had his posse or his people? Near me. And I'm telling you Ricky started to turn it on arch. Really, really good. He looked like he was just gonna mall. It was throwing them around. He was the bigger stronger guy when they collided forces colliding, they just moved into the record of wherever one was going. But Ricky bend day has started getting a feel for it is using his footwork. He was using the whole. Cage. To his benefit in one are starting to slow down. And I'm telling you man, this guy pike could have been very competitive. Maybe won the fight if it would have been five rounds 'cause it was really titles really really turning. But it was only three minutes long. And by then one Archer let at secure the first two rounds. Ricky bended has won the last one. And that was that one are to let it man, I think he's twenty two on one or something like that. And he's gotta be creeping up on possible title shot at some point. So congratulations to him shot at the Tiki goes on this one of his original guys. And and Ricky van day has came to fight. I can't wait to see Ricky Benda has his next fight. So even in losing effort he made a fan out of me. Yeah. Moving on Jack Hager, we discuss that with him. We just hung up the phone with him about ten minutes ago, he defeated j w Kaiser brute power, man submission arm. Triangle, we weren't expecting him to get it when he got it..

"While blah, blah here. Those two dummies Georgian goes. We could a little bit of tap dancing around the big news this past weekend, which was fell to fourteenth place. Warm in Inglewood, California. We jumped around a little bit with champ, talk and doing our daily debate. But let's talk about this card. Ryan Bater became the bell tower heavyweight champ by defeating fishermen Inca in thirty five seconds. So vast and it stuck with team. There was four first-round finishes on the main card, and that's why you heard Marco through that horrific broken English. Explain something about the pacing of the card. I mean what's belt toward supposed to do? That's tough to do. You can't count for that. You know? And you can't just say like when the del me defeated Brandon McMahon in a minute and sixteen you can't run back and go are Chilanga BanDai hus- get out here. You know, what I mean that that's not a pillow fight? Yeah. They gotta finish that. So what you're gonna get is commercials. And a lot of talk a lot of that a lot of season, professionally professional announcers will tell you only use thirty percent of my my stuff. The rest of it just goes the away not really ways because it's good to have that knowledge. But that's the seventy percent where you go. You know, his mom immigrated from Poland, you know, on or whatever you use that to cover up because these fights are having so quick. So you gotta come a little bit of flack this would have been even tough whether on the zone or UC fight pass us PM. Plus, whatever it's not really the production side. It's got to be professional in regards to how you treat your fighters. And when you tell them a certain time, they're banking on a certain time, you can pull them out a little sooner. But not too, right? So the night start with Adele to me defeating Brandon McMahon. I'm gonna go backwards journal. I start with Bater he got the submission, and it was a huge huge win. This is a guy that has. Though the story about him getting. About Afghanistan and everything. Yeah. Sad. Yeah. All right. So perhaps you could tell because I just forgot it. Well, doesn't it have to do with his family and all that got dumped it? Yeah. He was a one of the one of the local forces in there, helping the marines and he's like lifelong martial-arts, and so you kind of roll background combat, and you know, the affiliation with marines and his I'm not sure what the mission was. But they got they got taken man, it wasn't just like his best friend. But also his cousin was in the mix. And they both got pretty much executed in front of those execution video. They saw you saw the head off to watch that happen. And then it was his turn. And like a movie that guy's kicking the door the marines. Right at the moment. And then save them. And since sunny, just you know, obviously feels a heels is left in the marines because his life was worthy enough, saving and just advocates life to helping them..

Oh, come on the movie super troopers. I'm sorry. I was trying to be funny. Miss that out. That's why we were kind of hesitant. We're like, wait a minute. Is he okay? Have you ever done anything close to that though? I'm sure you've run into your heroes at some point, right? You know, you you top is in the back of the staple center. One time snoop Dogg was in a in a backstage one-time bashing. What was going on, you know, somebody's both say so along the line is always you. It's cool people, and it's all these cool. You could down there at once like the want. They're just like you. And and kind to everyone. Right on. All right. Well, Jake, thanks for the time. You're I never may junkie radio. Man. You could tell that tone. You to be in pro wrestling, not only do you have to be athletically, gifted strong, individual athletic individual. But it is really now you can't just go in there. And you know, with a pair of overalls and a beard and go, you know, I'm this guy, or whatever I mean, you have to have possessed charisma yet to be able to connect with the audience. Otherwise, see you you're not even getting in the door. You know what I mean? And. But, but yeah, you could just all you know, that this definitely wasn't his first rodeo as far as an interview. All right. I wanted to do that. Now, what's the secondary? Guy. People say, well, you know, back in the NWEA days, or whatever they would just go to like some regional area. And it was just a a moose man somebody who was six six three twenty and probably had like three and a half minutes of cardio in them. But they figured, hey, we'll walk them out and do something he's either going to put someone over or or crush someone. And. Yeah, exactly now, it's different man. I mean, I remember, you know, the the world's strongest man, Mark. Mark Henry when day we'd love to. I'd love to have him on the show. And I'm sure Joschka facility that get a lot. Grief because from what I heard I hope he can verify this because he was such a big, dude. The one thing they always wanted him to do is get fifty pounds off get twenty five pounds off. They wanted to get him to an ideal weight because they knew what help with. There was no like world's strongest, man. I mean, we we don't need you pressing whatever you're doing we need to in here and lasting as long as possible. You know, get your cardio get your weight right for the travel, its grueling. It's really tough to do it. And it's just a whole other business. But anyway, I really liked the guy and like I say the forum was on fire on Saturday. I wanna talk about that. When we come back. Let's we'll slide into some villa toward talk that kicked off the first show of two thousand nineteen and it was really really good time. And I really wanna see if I can tell you guys if I can put it in my best words of that peco Corrales fight it made the drive worth than I did a lot of driving this weekend. But I'll clean that. So you would back at it. And like, wow. These guys were teaching me how to do my first single egg at eight years old. That's amazing. Absolutely last one from me. Speaking of all the influences, you weren't sure to them growing up in a place like Perry, obviously from the from the wrestling perspective. But now now now, you know in the in the mixed martial arts world more submission grappling. I guess what? I'm asking. Is. There anybody whether it's a fighter submission, grappler that you look at us far as you know, maybe they don't even have to come from a wrestling base like you. But just just something you see that that that you appreciate or maybe even would be helpful to to apply to your game. You know, there's a lot I've been you know, that will what a year. Now, Joey deaths is guy that I had. He is a big Holson guy. So we look a lot of that. But I also tomato relate any of my stuff. So I I look at a lot of asked stuff. Now, he uses the cross body ride. It's a you know, you lies the opponent take away the post in. It's just easier that way. Can you explain to us the finishing arm? Triangle, choke, usually I see the variation with neon belly. Or somebody's completely out of the guard. Do you think j w were just didn't know the defense, or or do you just or do you have a lot of strength than have you caught other people like that in the same position in a half guard? Yeah, you know, I was a surprise to at where he tacked on especially you watch it back. I had both hips up in the air. But you know, I just landed a lot of big album. So I felt like it's blood pressure was just through the roof, and you watch it right there at the end I like really like rockets forward to put extra pressure on the neck. He told me afterwards that one more second in. He would have been hashed out. Fan. Yes. So it was it was a little bit tired. Then look, I I was I was impressed with I didn't realize I mean, I was not through. But I thought they looked good. But the last one was a transition right into the arm triangle that we had specifically drilled, you know, at the end of every practice, you know, that was part of the game plan that feeling when you just one it was very fork, very primal the crowd really pop for you. How do you compare that to other the other sports you've played does it match them exceed them as a, you know, like, what did you think of your first win in mixed? Martial arts on armed combat against somebody else on a huge stage. Millions at home thousands in the arena. Man. I it was a huge feeling really nothing parable, and I've won multiple state championships in front of big crowds. Multiple all Americans played printed division one football games. You know, Rose Bowl. There was really nothing compared to that ceiling Graham. I wanted to you know, I really would tell him. I said all right. If you went out there play cool been there before. And I told him who lost it. I just over. Well, my wife said you can just see the relief on my face. And you know, it was a lot of hard work, and I don't vindicated. Bacon right show. And it's all really good to get that first one hundred under my belt. Well, listen, it's really really fun getting to know you here. And like, I said, it was an impressive debut. And I'm sure that was a lot of pressure you handled it like a champ and not many could tell that, you know, I guess it was a stressful situation for you. But it all worked out..

"We've had him a may guy say trying the attempting to become a pro wrestler was so much harder than what they thought. And we've had a lot of pro wrestler say trying to become a mixed martial artist was a lot tougher than what they thought you've done both which one do you think just bigger shock? Forgive me. I promise I'll keep up from now on. No, no worries. I didn't want to think I was saying wrestling's terrible. We actually had a great time. Yeah. That's what I was gonna get you anyways. But you know, pro wrestling is looked at to me as one discipline and discipline. So I would have to say, you know, Emma, MMA's definitely harder to learn, and, you know, each discipline multiple years, you know, lifetimes to like really get good at it like the inches that you need to master in order to control the distance and control your opponent and infectious nervous system. So MMA definitely harder. Although throw wrestling, you know, the best ones make your look easy. Like, it's the little details that they can do that doesn't even look like a big thing. And they're doing in the crowds react reacting. You know, those are the ones that I enjoy watching and it is a very difficult art. I do consider it an art as well. And it is hard to understand and to learn. But I think it should be appreciated as well. Jake Hager is our guest here on the anime junkie radio show coming off a win this past Saturday at bell toward fourteen hundred Dan, Tom or fight out on this would you ever Jake Hager? Jake, I was reading up on your not just for the interview, obviously. But but researching last week's card and whatnot. And and you know, I read the not only did you do wrestling, you know. And obviously of you're accolades there, but you also played played some football. And and you know, according to what I read a gentleman probably mispronounced last name does DEA Dover Dover SEK introduced you to Jim Ross and kind of made that connection there for pro wrestling. So I I guess what I'm asking you can correct that if if that was wrong, of course. But what I'm asking you as far as the pro wrestling to may was or anybody in particular that either made a connection for you into that world, or maybe was just a a wrestler or even or catch wrestler, so to speak that maybe a you're kind of inspired by almost planet at seed in your head. What was it? I'll be honest. Pretty cool. It was I met him through Betsy divorce. Check us the third round draft pick for the bears. I oklahoma. And like, I I met him in college him, and Jerry Briscoe, and they always said finish school, get your degree. And we'll give you a shot at it. And you know for me at that point. It really was a business opportunity for, you know, a young individuals myself to move forward into that and profession, and it turned out to be a good thing. You know, the big tall rest. They're like, why don't you playing basketball because I'm a wrestler? Now that that's awesome. Also, by the way, since we're kind of have that chapter the history book open. I also read that you were you were friends with Danny Hodge's grandson is that true in and Yemenia. Any notable experiences of that? Of course, you know, people people that don't know from wrestling to to to to catch wrestling that man is held in the highest regard. Well, most of the stuff you read about me isn't true. You know, except for the time that I pulled over a tour bus, and they flew me to Jamaica with them that that part's true. Thanks, guys sakes. Dairy is a very small town. I think all of them were watching the fight. I wanted to say something for sure after the fights to Perry who just one it's one thousand wrestling deal on the four school in the history of you know, the United States competition to do that. So it's pretty proud pretty impressive them. But Danny Hodge grew up like or I grew up and down the street from me..

"So that would have been my next question. Yeah. Like how soon like I mean, you still got that. It's like we want to do this again in two months, five months. The only way you get better by taking time off. But at the same time, you know, you're thirty six, and I don't know how committed you are to keep going with the sport. Well, I mean, you really just called me up your introduction earlier. So I'm definitely gonna go a little longer. I I'm very serious about it. And I I'm about line when I say my body's responded to all the intense training that were throwing at it. I want to get back at it very soon next three months while -sorts shades. You know, that way I won't fall out of shape would just keep going after w like that. It's you know, it's easy. Like, you wanna get back in the broom and keep getting better. I feel like. Jake Hager is our guest here on MA junkie radio. He's coming off a win over j w Kaiser at bell toward to fourteen goes, whatever Jake Kager, take you've done a lot of stuff in your in your life. And I was curious about on day one. Everybody remembers the first day of school for you day, one collegiate wrestling anime training and pro wrestling training, which one was the bigger shock of them. All. You know, they're all have some similarities all kind of personal test. You know to where you know, your dedication to the sport. You know, we'll transcend into what your product is the biggest shock. I would have to say the television, and that that is really a lot to adjust to, you know, knowing all the ins and outs and the smoke and mirrors of what to do. And even though and it's still visited them at bay. It's so translate to very similar things on how you prepare for the fight. And how you time you're warm up going forward. And I think those little things are huge when you're comes to staying calm and not let nervous system. Hoover react way San sheet before the site. I think fight week is full of a lot of ups and downs like a roller coaster of emotions, and I think one of the last ones that you go through is after a win or a loss. Just seeing people's reactions to it in your case, you had so many of your brothers from wrestling come out and say good things about you. And I'm sure friends and family. What was that like to read all that stuff after your fight? And how soon after you fight? Did you get to it? It was definitely very humbling seeing at I felt like we're gonna make it big splash. It's definitely why I wanted to try my hand at it because of the background, but the see, you know, so many of the, you know, pass guys that have worked with like really whole post them support for me put the hands of the heart out towards with such an iconic picture it really framed it. Well, and you know, you know, I had a great job. Now worked with a lot of great people, and I left that because I wanted to pursue. I wanted to compete again. And I wanted to step in gone 'cause I thought I could. This this past weekend myself in George we both actually got to go to a pro wrestling event catch the world rumble in person, and we had a blast. And we we have a lot of friends that within the community that have given pro wrestling shot and a lot of them come back and go man that was so tough. That was a nightmare. Never wanna go through that again. It was a lot tougher than what I do. And then we've heard the reverse from professors coming on this side for you where where do you stand on that? On watching for a progressive show. No on just attempting both sports. You know, what I think if you can watch one other we definitely need to be open minded today. And so to like take a little time and understand what it is. If it's not for you. You know, it's not for you. We don't have a lot of things to watch. What we like anyways? Let me let me stop what I meant was which one was more difficult than other words..

"If you missed the live show, you can find the recording on itunes Spotify or YouTube the following day. Check it out at a lot of fun, and you get to see a little bit more of our producer Danny's personality and my phone just rang in the background Salter. Now. It's popping off joining with us in studio we have Tom Paine from Walking Dead. You got real socked in the bay. I mean, the show is very very in. You think spits very like rough house e and eight no stuntman hanging around everyone on the show just jumps in and gets involved. And that was my rude awakening to the show being chased around a field by Newman, and then him grabbing me and touching me in the face as a saying that everyone his when they first joined inches welcomes the Walking Dead, and this it was set in this kind of like, you're just doing a cult. Welcome to the working watch live on the YouTube stream. Clear that leg he's got enough squeeze. But it'd be clears that leg it's gonna make it a lot tighter. But a lot better be sick that hip down there. Shit. Special day during the commercial break, they were probably talking smack about their next guest. But now they're going to act like they're all cool with him here. They are Jordan goes. All right. We are back at the second hour of the radio show big shout out again to just Vitas for causing the first hour. Safe travels. My man I and I there's nothing to talk smack about our next guest. Even we wanted to have a little fun and be light hearted. I was there. I was at the forum in Inglewood, California. And when I saw Jack excuse me, Jake Hager walking out, I thought, well, let's see what he's got you know, in in this world of ours. The world I knew of course, he's got a wrestling background. It was all American but still it was dominant. Like, it was really really dominant. It was impressive. He cannot be in the same sentence as C M punk or James Toney. You know what? I mean, somebody coming from another sport or anything like that another discipline to see what they got in this sport. No, if anybody didn't know who he was I don't know how very popular professor, you would've thought. Oh, wow. That's a guy that got in there and got the job done, very very. It's very very impressive win project Kager, and he joins us now on the radio show. What's up, Jake? How're you doing? Oh, man. I'm doing great. Thanks for that introduction. I'm really appreciate it. Well, you know, there's some hardcore fans in there. We'll call them junkies. Because that's what we are MMA junkies in the audience, but there's a lot of casualties there. Who are just seeing, you know, somebody making their debut, or, you know, another fighter with the same levels or whatever and they're watching, but you really really made it look easy. And I didn't see any any hiccups like any slip-ups of somebody making a debut, and I've seen it from others. It was it was really really impressive. And you know, the now the ones that didn't know who you were. They went nuts, man. They they they were popping for you. And I just thought, wow, what an amazing debut. Congrats. Thank you. Thank you. And it's also compliment knowing I'm hiding my mistakes. Well, I probably I made a lot of them in that short time. Well, what what would you not like about your performance? Oh, you know. I did a good job of getting them up against the cage, impeding them down. And so you couldn't go anywhere. I can move in more safely and keep my head off line better as I'm going in to engage wrestling. So that's one thing. I'll just be honest with myself and on work on and address future. Very soon..

'cause it's like about ask yourself is the main song they sing. But this is the jam your thing. Back to a Alexsandr Hernandez asong last Friday and start slow. He was our guest. I'd only does the does the rejoins that what it's called goes. When rock talks not only did the rejoin say while they were on commercial. They were more than likely talking crap on their next guest. You know, it's just like little humor. Then the top it off. We played the guys music the guy just fought who happens to be coming off, a, you know, a loss that obviously hurts his soul, and we're just trying to see where he's at with all this. And then just then I I happen to say this song sucks and having to be his walkout. Now. The problem is it starts off slow. And luckily before these guys even told me I said, oh, it's picking up now. I like it. So I think I got saying oh ten but other than that. I was major do sprang. What was the song dish back? Josh, do you? "Then like me and Henry or YouTube concert or or? Yeah. Old player cold play. Yeah. Like, we're more likely to do that than me and Henry, but it's still like there's this bigger thing is it like do I like love Dmitri's, his a friend or door. Like, I love like myself and all this happening. For me, professionally you know, so those were kind of the two situations as in on the last both fights and Henry delivered man. He's he's on a roll. It's great. So I just love to meet him. Like, I beat him in our first fight is amazing fight built up. Great. And we got three crazy rounds? Like when you watch that fight. We didn't stop trying to kill each other the whole time we're in a small cage and laws. Yes, fuck. Yeah. We. Each other the whole time we didn't stop trying to hurt each other. And like two more rounds would have been crazy. You know what I mean? And it's just like he knows. That's what's waiting for them like thousand the hardest fights in my life. Like this guy won't stop. We're locked literally in a small cages guy won't stop coming. After me. I know he feels the same. So, you know, I think I don't think he's scared of anything. But he knows there's a fight like a real fight on deck where you know, Dimitrius is an amazing martial artists. And they had a bit of a point fight. You know is really good really tactical knocked out TJ in thirty two seconds. He has nothing to lose going to thirty five me and him are going to freak and fight. He knows I'm gonna come after him. Like, no one else is going to. You know? So I I felt that's the only reason he'd be a little hesitant aside from obviously wanting to make his his his little legacy and stuff at another way. But you're already beat the thirty five pound chatman. Let's keep it rolling. Right. I was interested in the psychology behind rematches and your guy that's been on both sides where you lost the first fight in. Now, you get in a rematch that way, and then you've been on the side where you one the first bite and your opponents get into rematch. Yeah. Which one is stranger because you have to look at it. And I think you were very fair when you were talking about dozen. He said the guy got a lot better second. Yeah. It's been a while. I mean, his his previous fights have been real good to like, but sorry to and watching Henry Suharto, obviously, he's gotten a lot better mazing. Yeah. I'm sure when you're breaking down these rematches is it difficult to not get wrapped up so much in what maybe he's gonna try and do to counter what you did in the first fight versus what you gotta do. What's the psychology? It is really hard. It is different. It is different especially depending on time. And like what? Someone like Dustin Ortiz like we fought four years ago. Everything kinda changed. You know, like he changed camps. I change camps. You know, the way we fought was totally different the way we've all this time. And I actually took that going in. I was like listen, I looked at his last fights at it really look at our first fight basically to kind of answer your question. I looked at his last fights and my last fights. And we're kind of like, well, how's he going to prepare for me? Now looking at my last fights. And how do I prepare for this new Ortiz with three wins in a row to being by knockout? And I actually looked at the fight. And I go last time I hit the guy with two hundred and something significant strikes the head and body. Do took a beating I didn't stop hitting him throwing combos the whole time. He didn't go down, right? It's like he got better at stand up. And it's like if I fight him in the same manor is a manor, which is me being super aggressive and my offense being my defense. And honestly getting kind of looses times, which I do that's just part of it. Like you open yourself up the more you throw and throw hundreds of strikes per round. So I looked at it. And I was like his only chance improving stand up is me getting loose on the feet and him catching me with something..

"Yeah. So okay. It's been a while not not a while. But it's been like nine days since then what have you heard of nothing as far? As that goes as far as the title fight. I've done the interviews done my due diligence, and you know, reaching out and saying it's not a question. I want it, you know. And there's reasons why. And the reasons why I mean, I think everybody knows which is great having the win, and and the weight class and everything and just kind of the fact that the fight didn't make sense in the first place. Really it was kind of a weird five, but we kinda went through it and went through the whole charade and it happened over and thirty two seconds now. It's like all right. Well, let's get back to to like regular stuff. There's two weight classes, you know, that need to get moving. And yeah, that's kind of how how I look at it. And I think everyone kind of knows that as well. So, you know, Henry did a great job going out there. I think a lot of the stuff that was happening before which only wanna talk about because we're moving forward. You know, everything's really good flyweights are getting signed flyweight number one contender look and fights or getting made. What was it a nice clue that Davidson figure out? Yeah. And juicy booked. Yeah. Yeah. That was huge. Yeah. A lot a lot of things I've fill like since the beginning of stopped. You know, and the questions are always going to be there. But I'm like. I'm like all stop answering them like just stop asking him. Like like, a lover you guys. Like, what's next you deserve the title shot next? Like that's a regular weight class. That's what we're doing here. You know what I mean? Like, it's it's not about like, oh, when's this wins? It's it's like who's next who's next after that? What about this fight normal weight class? So yeah, everything's going. Really good. But I haven't heard anything as far as me getting the title shot next run into the matchmaker or Dana. We saw when just even it was just a look across like you threw me when you lost that split the city dominant crews on their forget it just looked at me from like fifty feet away. And he's kind of like your hands up. And I knew what you were saying was like, how'd you score, you know? And I and I said I think I said like split. Yeah. Forty seven. Oh, what do I? But but anyway, did you happen to just even look at them? All I don't really get to see anybody after I didn't really get to see bosses after Moore. Did my interviews hoping they'd hear it gave you. All mixed mania, text and told my manager to to get get on it. So we're doing that we have to do as far as getting a title shot. I mean, it really makes. It's the only thing that makes sense. It's again things going on. You know, I think a lot of it is going to have to do funny enough. You know, how fights are. You're always this. And especially when you're combining two weight classes, there's so many moving parts, but I think one of the moving parts happens this weekend with Marlin Marlin winning and TJ having a viable contender at Banna, which was already was, you know, I think this match with him in a son sour is is kind of a side effect of these super fights. Like, they don't need to fight you could gave Martin the shop. Now, he's having like a rematch or. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Exactly. And it's like this is kind of a side effect. It's like both of these guys would be like one's gonna win and one's gonna fight for the title. But you kind of have both these guys on deck at bantamweight, you know, one guys one and one with TJ the other guys. On a tear. So like one guy wins, you know, say Marlin and TJ fight a sunshine has a story to fight both of them..

"And then it's also to me, it's a state of mind is like scrambling and Louis Wynonna scramble. It's a state of mine of like, I'm going to end on top, you know, or I'm going to end in a better position that I'm in. And just not it's about not stopping really until you get there. And then you you build techniques along the way, obviously. And then you see these moments where like, oh, I can get my hip or something market get my head above his or there's his leg. You know? I always come out on this position. So you build all these tendencies and muscle memory. But it's such a state of mind scrambling, and like getting up off the ground in general is such a state of mind that you got a mentally decide. Like, you know, you're on the cage. There's not a guy that can hold me there. You know, it's another man like try hard to get off the cage your try hard to get up. So it's the same thing with scrambles. Just like a state of mind like I'm gonna come on top like it's funny like sometimes in practice will do drills that are take takedown only and I'll get taken down. We're like someone would stop wrestling wise. But I just don't stop until like I have a reversal. And then they're like, but I took you down. But I'm like, but now I'm on top. But we're just going to take down. But I'm like, I didn't take I didn't accept it as a takedown who was kind of like a scramble. So you know, like, I said, it's just. This is something you work on it at our division. It's super important because everyone's hitting the ground popping up. It made me appreciate the times. I go in there on a Monday. And catch you Palmer, and Kevin and all the others, you know, switching off, but that little max young max guy as well. He asked his switching off and pushing each other. Really like, I said can't say enough solid win. You hit a lot of check marks. Because Ortiz's is a ranked fighter. So had the resume. You want on the same card that the champion of flyweight one. So your time works out beautiful. You had a nice call out that the UFC grabbed you retweeted, you know. And you got vocal as well. And things pop. He also was pushing hate one twenty five doesn't need to go anywhere. And so I thought EV you know, I thought the flyweights were were on this week that night you did matter. And I hope you get that fight. You know, you have the I it's such a key win that you have when you guys coached the season, and then fought in December of two thousand sixteen and here, it comes to fruition where you might be able to use that could get out of jail monopoly. They're all Uniqlo, which is the brand new t shirt like I wear pretty much every t shirt, and then I get my jeans, my sweats, workout clothes, and underwear and stuff all in a bag. This isn't like a normal fold like like you see five year. Whatever your looks like you're ROY. It's all going to take up the same space, you just fold them and get him in there. She did a world tour in a carry on. You're talking hills different outfits for every occasion, she's doing this trip. She's a girl. She's already packed way faster than me too. I take forever. I'm slow. I listen to music. I like I haven't worn this jacket and three years. I should take it on vacation, you know, but she's quick, but she is doing a two week trip and work in Melbourne and a carry on we just we hate arriving home and being like now, we gotta wait for bags because we live here. And you know, we like just to get on that slow or they they're not slow, but it's just another inconvenience. So we're just to system to what we do. Yeah. So so that's the story congressional. So even though I love clothes, and she. She has to wear a lot of close, I can usually pack everything because dressing simple. It's simplicity. You know few details. Good basics. Yeah. Yeah. My congrats on your win over Dustin job. Thank you guys. Thank you. That was right. It was crazy guys. Grappled you guys through some hands. Wrestled guys grappled. Yeah. Then when I seen enough. Yeah. Scrambles for wrestling, grabbing, but guess what it was high pace a lot of energy nonstop guys had some advantages at times, and it was a really really fun fight to why. Because I know the fans like they wanna see the slobber knockers. But this one was one that stood out to me. I gotta put it in the Bank says one of those that when someone says, oh man when the hits the ground, it's not, no. Meet his cO. These guys were very competitive. I love that. Thank you guys so much. I didn't even think about that. But so many people told me after like that was one of my favorite displays of grappling and scrambling and everything and Cardi may have seen art. Yes. That was a that was a lactic building fight like that was one of those fights like didn't stop grabbing scrambling all those scrambles those are sprints like if anybody knows like to grapple and hold position kind of do ju jitsu. You know, you can rest you can breathe you're very technical. All ours was were sprints. You know, if he hit the ground he sprinting to get up. I'm sprinting to hold them. It was crazy. It was really fun watching that Joe because I saw a lot of times were scramble was decided by a split second. Like, maybe who could get their hand to pivot and just maybe jump on the other guy or a certain position. And he's he's real good at it. You know what I mean? But but you were like, maybe just a little faster. Yeah. You know, the trick is always just scrambling. So like wrestle a little longer than you think you kinda have to before you kinda give into something else like diving under like jujitsu or you can be stuck on the bottom..

"The only show that matters. I'm your host gorgeous, George with me as always the devious, and dastardly goes, he's coast to my left. It's the fight analysts. Dan, Tom back east. We got Gabby and jumbo. Josh sitting to my right? It's our co hosts for the day or sorry for the first hour Joseph Benedetti's. How're you doing? Really good. Really good coup. Can't complain man. Can't complain always good to be here was just telling us about a new Teague trip. He's got planned. I won't say the locations though. Just Stocker Cooman. Oh, it's cool. Yeah. No, no. That's cool. Thanks. Okay. All right. Yeah. And we're jealous. We're officially jealous. But he asked the cutout, it's you know, international. You guys will figure it out. But but yeah, what I can't seem to be at the fight my mouth. So we wrapped around nine via the fights in Melbourne that we are you featured fighter. I don't think. So I'm just gonna go hang out watch some good fights hang out with my wife Melbourne's. Great australia's. Great. Okay. So we'll be there to well. Saying was they I can't get my mind wrapped around is the fact that you don't ever check in a bag now and you're going on a two week trip. Two weeks. Yeah. How in the hell are you gonna pack everything into a bag that goes in that overhead storage simplicity? That's really it. I mean. It's I mean, the only time I have to check a bag if I have a fight week trip. I got year and stuff. So I do it. But man, like, I do pretty good like I wear a lot of t-shirts and jeans. Mainly it's shoes. And then like a few jackets, depending on weather and stuff. But even when I have weather I could pick like the two jackets fold them make space or where the bigger things on the plane. So like, even if I'm in Vegas, and I'm leaving to somewhere cold, and I need boots and jacket. I'll wear that on the plane safe space, but I'm also arriving there. So I need to be warm or whatever. But I just have a system I take a long time because if I actually have to pick like an outfit for something, then I'll like get into detail..

"Well, we can save boomer senators start this conversation without a doubt, Jake Hager born in Perry. Oklahoma now representing Bela Tor, get ready to make his debut in the cage in in a legitimate mainstream. Big time in may fight. They boy how your house your training going. Be careful what you wish for, you know, training, very hard. But then been good been good to me. I can't I can't believe how my body is responding to intensity. But it's it's really good. Compare your training for this fight to your peak days it Oklahoma wrestling for a D one school and earning all American honors out. What's is there is this harder? Same ass little less. What where do you get it? I would say there's a lot of similarities, of course, because wrestler in the main disciplines in. But I would say it's harder the rounds are longer. So you just have to be able to go longer. And then really the hardest part is like after wrestling for two minutes. Get back up on your feet and trying to throw hands three minutes and your arms or just ten times. Heavier. It's funny. I was kinda running my mouth to my coaches before we really started training. Like, look, I've changed D one level at the university of Oklahoma. I know what hard training is and then getting into this. I kinda had my word a little bit. Because. It's it's been very fairy difficult at times. But right now week before the fight I'm in the best shape, but my life at thirty six years old, which is something. Welcome. I'm walking around about two forty nine to fifty three fluctuating between then then on how many practices. I had that day. Your lean man. Yeah. Really? And I feel fast I feel like my flexibility has increased and that has really helped to hand speed in like see foot speed. You had a you had a great run in pro wrestling not to say this over. I I'm one of those guys is it ever really over. You know, you can not be booked, but it's hard to get out of your system..
