Ultraflex Football
A highlight from 43: Week 2 Recap
"Welcome to the Ultraflex Football Podcast. Move over Pat McAfee. There's no denying that we are here to spice up your life and never forget about the good times. I'm your host, Anthony Sutton. With me, as always, is Rob Green. Man, I wasn't prepared for that change. What's up? What's going on? And Viva Forever, Ryan Wheeler. I feel so much pressure. Now we got to be better than Pat McAfee. All right. Oh, we got the... Go ahead. No, he's actually like swearing on ESPN now, and he's got like Mike Greenberg, he swore on ESPN now because of McAfee. He's actually... A little more laid back now, huh? Yeah, he wears a tank top. He's very good for ESPN, in my opinion. Go ahead. He's spicing up Disney, huh? I think I saw, didn't they have to put him on like an extra delay versus normal? I mean, I wouldn't be surprised. He has to cut out the F words a little bit, I heard. Someone's got to tell him to stop the cursing. No. Why? That's what makes it fun. I'm like eight song titles through my album here, so. Oh, he's like, damn, you're doing song titles already? Yeah, I thought you had to say him first. Holy moly. All right, well, we're about to find out what your song titles were. So Tony messed up two weeks ago. He didn't get all the song titles in, so now he has an album to himself, but because this is a team sport, a team podcast, Rob and I now have to split apart, or a album between ourselves. So Rob and I have Good Charlotte, The Young and the Hopeless. My songs are A New Beginning, Lifestyle of the Rich and the Famous, Wondering, The Story of My Old Man, Girls and Boys, and My Bloody Valentine. Rob? I don't know, man. I'm not feeling good about this week. This is a lot. Seven songs and a half hour show. All right, I got Hold On, Riot Girl, Say Anything, The Day That I Die, The Young and the Hopeless, Emotionless, and Movin' On. Tony, we're all wondering, what do you have? You have the Spice Girls, my man. And I already, I've gotten already into the pod. I've already gotten Spice Up Your Life, Stop, Never Give Up on Good Times, Move Over, Denying, and Viva Forever. I still need to get in Too Much, Saturday Night Divas, Do It, and The Lady is a Vamp, which will probably be a difficult one. Hold on, can you say that one more time? What was that? The Lady is a Vamp. Like a vampire, assuming? What's a vamp? It's a vampire. And that's from the Spice World album. 1997 made me feel old AF. 97, wow. I remember watching the Spice World movie, the Spice Girls movie. I do not remember. Oh, you guys didn't have older sisters, that's why. No. All right, anyway. Movin' On. All right, speaking of Movin' On, the NFL schedule moved on. We are now in week two, so let's get to Football Talk. And I guess technically we're in week three, so we're going to recap week two. As always, we're going to start with the Bills game, go to the Titans game, and then kind of what else is going on. So, Rob, you were at the Bills Raiders game. What were your biggest takeaways? It was a fun home opener. The Bills got back to their winning ways with a nice, easy, I'd even want to say I was worried at the beginning. It was a little annoying that they fell behind 7 -0, but I was confident they would still pull it out. They did. Josh Allen ended up AFC Offensive Player of the Week, I think the 11th time in his career now, which is pretty impressive. Wow, the franchise record. Oh, I didn't know that. Nice stat. You beat Jim Kelly, it was 10 times. Well, pretty nice. Feels like a new beginning for the Bills, for sure. Nice, Ryan. Where was I going with that? I told you guys a stat yesterday, actually, that surprised me, but Josh Allen is number one in completion percentage so far this year. I know it's only two games in, but fun little tidbit there. It's crazy how much can change week by week in the NFL, and it's going to happen again this week. If the Bills were to lose to Washington and go 1 -2, then it almost feels like the game, I know it wouldn't be a must -win, but it feels like the game against the Dolphins the following week would feel like a must -win. That way, they're not 1 -3 and that far behind the Dolphins, but yeah, it's crazy how much can change in one week in the NFL. Oh, show. My biggest takeaway, and I said it last week, kind of a similar takeaway for me was last year it felt like we never got pressure on the quarterback. This year, it feels like we're constantly getting the opposing quarterback pressure, and it feels like our offensive line is playing well, so big task, which is we're physical, we can run the ball, we can block, we can get pressure. It's a good change of pace. I don't know, honestly, I'm not smart enough to tell you if McDermott's play calling is a factor in that, or if it's just Leonard Floyd, hopefully his ankle's okay, is better, and Ed Oliver's having a better year, so on and so forth. Yes, I saw his average depth of tackle is negative yards right now, which is impressive. So his average tackle is a tackle for a loss. That's awesome. That's literally the definition of blowing up a play. So yeah, it's exciting. Obviously, this win means something, but it doesn't really if you go and lose to Washington, so got to two and one. Two and one, by the way. Oh, yeah. I think everyone does the thing where you kind of... Did we just lose our host? It kind of looks like a frozen face there. Okay. Hey, frozen face. Oh, Rob, it's you and I. Let's do this thing. All right. So I didn't get to talk about the Titans at all. Can we say anything now, because he's gone? Yeah, we can say anything. Say anything, say anything. Sorry, I can't sneak any of these. Good Charlotte. Anywho, girls and boys, my takeaway is that the Titans are who I thought they were. The team that... I guess who a lot of Titans fans thought they were. The team that's probably... You are who we thought you were. Welcome back, Anthony. Thanks. They're the team that's going to beat the good teams and lose to the teams they should beat. And that's how it feels like the Titans have always been. They keep every game close. They have a shot. They have a chance in every game. So they're not quite the young and the hopeless, but they're just maybe like the mediocre. No, they're not the young and the hopeless. Oh, I thought that was one of my song titles. That's the... Oh, no. Oh, no. Clearly. Well, okay. I guess I can cross that one off my list then. Anywho, you know who else I was impressed with was the Falcons. They play a certain brand of football. It's the NFC Titans. I think I have to be a fan of the Falcons now. But just ground and pound, they came back. They were able to pull that one out in Green Bay. So... Yeah. The Falcons. To your point, there's not many teams, I feel like, in the NFL that have an identity, like a true identity. The Falcons are one that you know exactly what you're getting every week. And that could be really good or it could be really bad. Oh, for sure. One of my week two takeaways is prior to the season, it was always... And I was the one on this podcast kind of leading the charge is how good the AFC is gonna be. And then if like through two weeks, which is, again, a small sample size, it feels like the 49ers, Eagles, and Cowboys are playing just as well as anybody. And they're all in the NFC. Now, the NFC doesn't have much else to offer, but those three teams are gonna be very formidable to whoever comes out of the AFC come Super Bowl time. Yeah. At this point, their high -end talent almost seems better than the AFC with a lot of the top teams in the AFC struggling. So... Do you guys think that three of the top five teams in the NFL are NFC teams? Maybe even three of the top four teams in the NFL? I think that's fair right now. Yeah. That's crazy, isn't it? Because before the season, it was like, the AFC is so strong, so good. They have all the good quarterbacks and two weeks is a pretty small sample size, but I think... I think at this point, yeah, it's safe to say those three teams are top five. I don't even know who you would put... I mean, I guess the Dolphins are probably the best team in the AFC at the moment. I mean, the Chiefs scored 17 points against the Jaguars. And I mean, the Bills looked very good last week, but you can't ignore how poorly they looked the first week on offense. So... And then obviously, the Bengals Chargers being 0 -2 hurts the AFC's, I guess, power rankings or however you want to look at it. And then Rogers being hurt. Those are three teams that I thought were going to have a very good season. They still might. Maybe not the Jets, but the Chargers and the Bengals.

"I don't know if I like that. I I like as a coach like an outlier in appearance like a Like someone who's either very old Not in great shape Like looks battle -hardened. There's something to that for me because Well Vic Fangio is Mike McDaniel's defensive coordinator Now Vic Fangio is still the head coach of the Broncos we'd have and Vic and I are from Scranton That would have been a very well Vic is from Dunmore I'm from Scranton. Let me because he'll correct you when you say that but That would have been an obvious one, but you get rid of Vic Fangio you get rid of me as a franchise So but Vikings are good But again, it's like I like So what I like about them So the wholesome part like Kirk Cousins has got that covered but on top of that, right like I do think like the way they treated their plate like one thing that was very noticeable to me was the way they handled all their outgoing players this year and If you go back and you look like Dalvin cook Patrick Peterson Eric Kendricks All these got Adam feel and all these got Dalvin cook all these guys they offloaded None of them have anything bad to say about the Vikings because of the way they handle those guys on the way out And then what you have remaining? Is maybe the most exciting young player in the game and Justin Jefferson, right? Proximity, New Jersey, that's an easy flight. It's a Delta hub So you have like you can get there really really easily and probably like an hour and a half two hours I feel like the young core there is good. They're very Forward thinking with quasi Adolfo Mensa is their GM who's kind of like a good merger between analytics and scouting. I Think there's a lot there I mean I just think that and I don't think that they're at the level of like the Bears or the Giants where it's like Alright, like that's a hit. That's a team that like has Like it's hard to just join that established fan base You know what? I mean? Like I feel like they're like maybe a notch below that and they're Minnesota nice. They would let me in My problem is I feel like as my kids get older. I need the head coach to be Older than me because like I think Kevin O 'Connell and I are pretty close to the same age We're in the same NFL locker room together when I was a young beat reporter and he was I covered him to Quarterback. Yeah, it's so I think like I would imagine like maybe one day my kids being like Oh the head coach of the Vikings is 40. Why aren't you doing anything? Cool dad? You're you're 40 so that's just something that's kind of the back of my radar, but I do I I Do support moving the Vikings up? to to a hot team Potentially and I do like I like that They're a little earlier in the cycle because it would be a little strange to I think the Jaguars are a very appealing pick It would be strange to become a Jaguars fan and then for the rest of your life people say Oh, how'd you become a Jaguars fan? And you say well, it was Trevor Lawrence's third season They had already proven they could win a playoff game and I said now's a good time for me to hop on the Jacksonville bandwagon Jacksonville just feels like I don't know. It's like too obvious too obvious That's how I feel about Detroit too, which is in this category. We haven't even talked about. Yeah. Yeah No, I'm with you Detroit's too obvious and part of this is gonna be You know, I want a fan base that handles success. Well, I think on this list a lot of teams that got punished Are teams whose fans when they achieve sudden success? Just collectively become like the largest group of douchebags on the planet and is that how you feel about Eagles fans? People would describe Patriots What I like about Eagles fans, I will say this you're getting dangerously close to early Bill Simmons era Boston and A Boston Red Sox Boston Celtics where you're making it a lot about you and I think you are over rating The struggle that's what I would say and it's there's a very theatrical Element to all that we had to go through in the empty stadiums at the link and oh The fellowship what we called it up here was right before they like the championships started here They called it the fellowship of the miserable up here But it's theater, right? It's acting some of it is Yeah, I mean like the whole like going to your you know Great -grandfather's grave site the day after the Red Sox won the World Series. There was definitely some of that Okay, I can see that to one up that I will say the morning of the Super Bowl this past year I saw videos from Philly where people were at their grandparents grave sites tailgating And they had run like they were tailgating with their dead relatives I remember walking into the stadium in Arizona being sent these videos Wait a minute Can you imagine like driving by a cemetery and seeing like an RV parked in the middle of it and just like a half dozen people hanging out But that's also part of why I'm weary about Philly like there's always there's already this established fan Subculture and then to be able to fit in I would have to be so extra beyond what I am now And so I think that there's a little bit of pressure there to be there's a high barrier to entry to be a fanatical Eagles fan I think yeah, I also think Philly is a very strong 4 -4 kind of city and I know there are others on the list I'm not saying that's exclusive to Philly But I think it it is Particular there where it's like the diehard Eagles fans are tend to be also diehard Sixers Phillies fans It's not an easy city to sort of pick and choose one team a la carte and have other interests It feels like everyone's very much dialed into all of the teams I know there are other four for four cities people probably listening to the saying or cities like that, too But it feels it feels like some very passionate fans as I know and I think it would be a tough place to just sort Of hop in as just an Eagles fan it would it would anybody else have a candidate to bump up from maybe teams So we're moving the Vikings up right moving the Vikings up Okay, I'm gonna have to you know, the Kevin O 'Connell thing is a me issue.

You know, the other night, speaking of that, Alex, the other night I was in a space and a seeing on spaces his on his PC. So there's been some kind of upgrade. Well, you can see it. You can see it. No, no, he was joining. He was. I mean, you know, I don't know if he's lying or not, but I mean, I don't know why he would. He said he was talking from his from his PC. That sounds made up. Oh, they're supposed to be rolling that out. I just haven't heard any official actual admission that that is like a live product yet. Yeah, it was it was in a trad fi space run by run by Jaguar. So, you know, I guess it could have been, you know, a liar, but I just don't know why somebody would lie about that. And, you know, they said they were on the they're on their PC talking, you know, and and everybody was commenting. They're like, oh, wow, no wonder you sound so much better. Yeah, I was I was kind of messing with you a little bit. Yeah, I want to dump it. Peter, you're just totally lying. I agree with Alex. What up, y 'all? What's going down? Oh, wait, I just joined the space on my desktop and it looks like there is a mic button now. Well, what? It must be just rolling out like a soft launch to do. I hate all of you. I hate all of you. You're still you're still lying, Peter. Just kidding. I love you, buddy. The best what in the community is banana kit? What? What? What? All right. Good morning, everyone joining us. Why there is hope is this bright orange future that we call Bitcoin today. We're talking about the latest news in the Bitcoin market. There is a bunch later, second hour of the show, we have Brian DeMitt. Coming on. Orange pill app. Jujitsu master, big can energy guy. That's going to be cool. All right, let's dig in. I saw a tweet that was actually kind of sad and I wanted to read it, get some thoughts, get some comments on this. This is from I liked to lurk. And he goes, it's time to stop hoping and just sell my BSB, delete this account, try to return to normal life. I have to accept that I was a complete fool using my savings to buy one point one five BTC for seventeen thousand eight hundred U .S. dollars and then swapping it for twenty five point five BSB. The 20 I have left equals seven hundred and twenty dollars. It's brutal. Did you put that in the nest, Alex? No, I just copied a picture of it and stuck it in my show notes. Why do you want it? No, I just I didn't I didn't hear everything that you said, so I wanted to read it because I was doing something else. Well, the summary of it is this guy got wrecked climbing Mount Stupid. So did he was he around when when when BSB came out and then he he converted all of his Bitcoin to BSB? Is that what happened? No, this sounds like it was after the fork because he bought one point one five Bitcoin for seventeen thousand eight hundred and then he swapped it for twenty five point five BSB. So he fell for it like they conned him. He was one of the victims. There is, I guess, the possibility that he bought that Bitcoin on the way down 2017. The reason I was asking Alex is because there was an interesting Portland HODL had had some really interesting comments on in a space the other day about a guy who was talking about, you know, what happens if there's a fork, you know, blah, blah, blah. And the comment was, well, if there's a fork, you get to own, you know, both of the underlying assets. You get to own whatever the new fork is and you get to own the whatever is the old fork. So there's really there's no risk. His point was is there's no risk to the individual if there is a hard fork of Bitcoin because you don't have to as long as your your Bitcoin is in cold storage, you don't have to convert it. And then you if the new fork turns out to be the where the social where the where the social consensus goes, then you have you already have that asset. So there's no risk involved in that. It was just interesting. The only the only risk is if you sell the wrong one. Well, you don't have to sell. That's the point. You don't have to sell either. That was it. That was Portland's point is that there's no risk because you don't have to sell.

"There's a lot of lift and coast. There's a lot of, you know, you're a long way from the apex and it's like, right, they're off the gas and they're just, they're not even on the brakes yet, they're letting the cast slow down. They're just they look so unworldly, and often they're up on, you know, one wheels off the ground as well. And they kind of just, they float through the corner, because they just look like they shouldn't go racing. Well, it would have been more like that back in the day because cars would have been softer and float around more. I think now the top preparation films, yeah, we're getting to this a bit later. Can I run the cars stiffer and they just know how to set them up to go around corners better. But yeah, I mean, I think there's a story of when Gerhard Berger tested a galaxy in preparation for one of the Goodwood meetings. And he got out and said something along the lines of, well, I've driven cars that don't stop, and I've driven cars that don't steer. But I've never driven a car that didn't steer or stop. So he wasn't very enamored with it. But I mean, it's all relative, right? So he would have been used to drive in modern racing cars. I think that so the galaxy is a monster and it was soft and we'll get onto the car that really moved it all along later in the year. In 1963 in a bit, but it was good enough that it was in the ballpark area enough for the power to do the rest. Now, whenever a car, a technology, dominates in racing, in many different series, sometimes the rule makers step in, sometimes other teams look to dub them into the rule makers and say, hang on a minute, this is we think this isn't right. Did anything like this happen because obviously anyone anyone racing a Jaguar has got their nose massively put out of joint now. Oh yeah, absolutely. So they were, in fact, there was even some correspondence in the pages of all sport between the various parties arguing about the legitimacy of the car. You're right. The Jaguar well, Jackie themselves are very unimpressed. So there are all sorts of yeah, they're trying to nitpick and catch the galaxy in out with anything they could. So one of the main ones was the roll cage. Obviously, if you're racing NASCAR and you're having big shunts at data, you probably want some protection. They arrived with what we would regard today as a spindly roll cage, but the fact is it had one, whereas in those days, they didn't have roll cages. And so that was that was picked up on us. Oh, that's illegal stiffening of the car. Well, yes, a roll cage does stiffen the car if it's put in properly. But that's the point of it though. It doesn't kill the driver when it rolls, yeah, and so they were forced to make modifications to their old cage, which all sport at the time reckon would have made useless in the event of an accident. It's amazing to think now, isn't it with our modern safety from our modern safety viewpoint to think that that was, they were made to make that car less safe because of competitive reasons. It made no difference to the car winning. I also fairly quickly brought in disc brakes on the car. And Jaguar didn't like that either, and they were made to take them off for one race. But I mean, really, it was the only way they could put up a resistance to it. Because let's remember that Jackie was very well developed by this point. It's not like the Mark two had lots of extra pace that it was suddenly going to find from somewhere. And of course, the galaxy was pretty much brand new from a British circuit perspective. So it was only ever going to go one way. So they were trying all these sort of behind the scenes things to stop it, but I'm afraid the Genie was very much out of the possible at this point. Let's take a quick break. When we get back into our second half of the podcast, we will continue the story as we come right up to date and in the only way that also sport can do, we get these cars on track together and make a little feature out of them for you to read in the current issue of autosport, magazine. If you, by the way, you would like to pick that up. You can do that on news agent supermarket shelves right now, too late to get it delivered through your letter box. If you're not already a subscriber, but if you listen to our podcasts and you think, you know what, I'd like that dropping through my letterbox every single week, then it's not too late to subscribe now to be in time for things like our LeMond preview coverage, which you can do. "Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars will become the first NFL team to play two international games in the same season when they spend back to back weeks in London this year. The Jaguars will host the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium on October 1st and visit the Buffalo Bills at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 8th. The Jaguars were set to play two designated home games in London in 2020, but the pandemic canceled those plans. The NFL also announced dates for three other international games and released the opponents for a few other games, including the first Black Friday matchup. I'm geffen coolbaugh.

"Kelvin beach and his traveled the country as an offensive tackle, playing for the Steelers Jaguars jets and Cardinals since 2012. In March, he made a trip to Zambia after constructing two clean water wells and financing a third. We actually wanted to actually see the work. We wanted to see how it impacted people and how water impacted their lives, how access to what impacted their lives and those who did not have access to how it affected their lives. Beacham was the Cardinals, Walter Payton man of the year in 2021 for his humanitarian work. He's associated with food banks in his hometown and every city where he's played. Beecham also was a champion of local education equity, but his association with world vision has led him to international causes. I met world vision this has to be 2015 with 2014, 2015, and I got introduced to him through the NFL PA as young man Dexter Santos. And he knew what I was doing quite a bit here domestically and I told him to start thinking about things on a global scale. Beacham says he doesn't do it for acknowledgment. I think I'm going to do the work regardless. It's not about whether I can support for the National Football League or the NFL V8 or fans. I would do this work because I think that this is important. This is the legacy that I want to leave for my children. This is the work that I want my children to grow in. Does beach and plan to go back to Zambia? So the question is, do we take Ikea to make due to retirement trip? So we love to see anytime we make an investment so you want to see what does it look like over time. Given his track record of humanitarian effort, there are more international trips in beecham's future. I'm Dave ferry.

"Damien Harris left this game late, Greg with a hamstring issue, but said he was okay after the game. He's been tinged up at times throughout the season. If is he like the cog that makes the Patriots offense really go here or if he were to go down is ramani Stevenson enough. Yeah, no, I think they're fine. You know, if one of them goes down, as long as they have one in Brandon Bolden, I think they're fine at the running back position. It would have been nice to have JJ Taylor active and maybe get him a couple touches in this game, but I guess that's a lost cause at this point because this would have been the type of game where he could have done that, but they decided not to do it. They must not think he's ready, but I think they're fine at running back and you know that hamstring is something you need to watch. He had a heavy workload last week. It was good to get Stevenson back. He didn't look like he missed much of anything. He looked really good out there, but I think they're good at back. Miles Bryant bounced back after last week had an interception, just I guess we got to keep hit on last week. I know we've kind of talked about it a lot, but was that just giving it to Josh Allen and hey, he doesn't take it, and he finally took it and it's just miles Bryan got exposed. He went right back out there, made a big play this week and I think that's at least a confidence booster form going forward. Yeah, but I didn't think after watching the film, I did not think that miles Bryant was exposed..

"It's the Shawn's patriots postgame show. Jim Marie Joe Murray. Greg bedard Boston sports journal. They're a band that people are like, that was just a band from that time. Late 90s, early 2000s. I never liked them. You did. Everyone liked them and everyone like went biscuit. It was like the steroid air and baseball. You loved it then. Don't pretend to not like it now because it's like the hip thing to do. You love them then. Don't lie to yourself. I think Bernard was a headbanger, right? With the 7 string base, you would feel it, right? Right, but I think you two in Darius Rucker and who you were a little bit more my style back then. So they're in the playoffs, right? So the Patriots now officially have a playoff spot. Is this did the prospective change for you, Greg and that like, okay, you know, I do think that they should be applauded and Bill Belichick should be applauded after last year's down year, 7 and 9 with Cam Newton. It looked like it was rudderless. They had no answer at quarterback. But because of the 7 game winning streak that they had, did your perspective change and now like, you know, if they were to be one and done, is it a disappointing season? Like, it's good that they've gotten here and it's a hell of a turnaround, but did the expectations now change because of that winning streak more than anything else. Well, I think it depends on the matchup and right now it's the buffalo it's the bills in Buffalo. We'll see how things shake out. If they were to go to buffalo and lose after beating Miami in the season finale, would I be disappointed? A little bit, but I think that would be a good step forward for this team. I mean, I think in my preseason prediction, I had 11 and 6 and I had them winning, I think, a first round game. And you know, so if they didn't, if they didn't win that, I mean, I like the Patriots chances and a rematch. I just think they played awful defensively. The last time out against the bills, if they meet the Bengals and they lose, yeah, I would be disappointed. I mean, I think that offense is gonna be a handful, but I don't think much of the Bengals defense at all. And I would be disappointed if Mac Jones in the offense didn't put up enough points to win that game. It'll be on the defense. We'll see. But shorter answer is I'd be slightly disappointed that they lost in the first round of the playoffs, but I don't think it would be a huge disappointment..

"We, as we go here against the dolphins and in the postseason look, remember, let's go back to where this team started the season, and everybody freaking out about the wide receivers. What do they have? You know, agile or hopefully we'll be back at some point. But this remember, this is still a too tight end team. This is one running back too tight ends or two backs and two tight ends one ride receiver whatever. It's a very receivers are not the focal point of this offense. And so there are limited snaps in any event, I think that Kendrick Bourne certainly has rebounded from his COVID stint where he said that that was giving him issues. He looks a lot better. He certainly one of the more valuable guys they have on the team. Jacoby is not going anywhere. And so could I see wilkerson fitting into that three or four role if they need be? Yes, certainly. And the thing about wilkerson is that he's also good on special teams, so a lot of the little things that people want to say that Nikhil Harry does well like his quote unquote blocking. Walker shouldn't do that. He's a big, strong kid. And so it would not surprise me in the least if that's the last we've seen of Nikhil Harry and her patriot uniform. Barring injury. Hey Greg, just one thing with Christian wilkerson, we've gotten a lot of calls today with people thinking, hey, is this the guy that could get involved the deep threat? If you know about him, he played in the Ohio, Ohio valley conference, like small school, he latched on with the Titans. They really liked him, released from the Pats picked them up. He's been here for a bit. Drops seem to be his biggest thing, but if he is that fourth receiver, can he block? Is that something he can do? Because we've seen the killer Harry out there a lot. We give him credit for doing it. Is it something Christian? Wilkerson can do if he has to be on the field for it? Yeah. He's a big, he's a big, strong kid. And to answer people's questions, no, he's not sort of any answer to anything. The most he's probably going to be as a three or four wide receiver or a 5th wide receiver in the NFL who contributes on special teams. You know, you're absolutely right during the training camp and the preseason very inconsistent. He would look like a world beater one practice and couldn't catch a cold, the next practice. He's a good guy to have around, you know, seems to know what he's doing. It looked like he adjusted to some play calls really well today, even anticipated a few checks and alerts by Mac Jones. So I think he fits into what they do, but, you know, look, it's, you know, if healthy, it's Jacoby Myers, Nelson Aguilar, Kendrick Bourne, and then sort of wilkerson and Gunnar chef ski. You know, I look at that as their sort of their 5 man unit right now and I think Nikhil Harry is on the outside looking in and you know I would say it's more likely than not unless he shows up on Wednesday in his world beater and practice that he could be an active for the rest of the way here. "Yeah, he doesn't do anything. He's not gonna jump off the tape. He doesn't stand out to you, but you kind of watch him and you're like, oh hey, you know, this guy's in the right place at the right time a lot. Who sounds like a guy? I've heard a little bit about him too. And he seems like a Joshua blood so type, right? Who's not necessarily the Uber athlete, excuse me, that somebody like Kyle duggar is or something like that. But just tends to be in the right places, understands the defense, good football knowledge, good instincts, good IQ that saw Gardner's a guy. He's the guy. I don't know that they'll have a shot at him without trading up is the thing. And then in the other game, and by the way, his name is Kobe Bryant, but it's with a C? Yeah. It's C and then a Y at the end although he is, he wore number, I think, 13 all year. He's wearing number 8 in honor of that Kobe Bryant. In the ball game today, he obviously would be able to in the NFL now. As for Michigan, I think Aiden Hutchinson is like the textbook patriot. Now he might be the first overall. But edge rusher from Michigan with that kind of motor, I like a lot of Michigan's sophomores and freshmen, honestly for the Patriots. Not guys will be in the draft this year. I'm trying to remember who they have a great freshman wide receiver whose name is escaping me right now. Outside of that, I mean, I like Hassan Haskins, I don't know that they go with another running back as high as they did last year, but he reminds me a little bit of Stevenson. And if they don't plan on signing Harris long term, he's probably somebody who could go into that role, right? Because they want to have those two tracks. Georgia, anybody on the defense, close your eyes, throw a dart at their chart. I think the guys on the Patriots draft board. Bill Belichick.

"He's a special teams player. I'm not saying I'm not saying that Joshua bliss star for them, but you have Phillips in the box. Yeah, blood so has a backup to fill ups, right? Duggar goes to free safety, something like that. It's not that easy. Devin McCourty outside when he got hurt and I think it was against the jets he's played out. Snap is great. Yeah, no, he's my penis. Yeah. That's the bigger question because he also plays a very important role as Steve. That's not that Hightower doesn't, but yeah. That to me is the big one. They can replace height. They can't easily replace high tower, but bills generally pretty good about finding linebackers. And again, they have a couple names in the building who at least get your attention. Great quant McMillan. He was off to that great start, right? And it was very briefly soft. But he's a good player when he's healthy. It's just a matter of him staying healthy. I don't see. I wouldn't take dug out of the box. I think having Phillips and dugger in the box, it's so good for the defense to be able to operate that way. I think you make your defense worse if you take dug out of the box. Whether it's the draft, whether it's for agency, whatever. They're going to have to do something big to replace Devin mccordy. So he's not to totally railroad your question, but because something I've been going through is that kind of start to get ready for my postseason coverage here is, you know, those two guys, I think the answer on those two guys is the first big question of the off season. And if I had to pick one to return, it would be Devin McCourty. Yeah, Devin mccordy I think is a priority for them in free agency too. Incentivize them to play again to keep him here. I don't think he's going anywhere. The only place that maybe he could go down to Miami with Jason, right? I don't think that that's happening. But at this stage of his career, I don't see high tower or mccordy playing for a different team. I just don't think that that's where their heads are at. Hightower is a really interesting one. I think that this is fact that this is his last year with the Patriots. I think he's going to retire. This is just a hunch. I have no inside information. I think he's going to retire at the end of the year. When a player like Hightower recognizes that he's not an every down player anymore, he could re sign here. He could be a captain. He could be a team leader. He could play on first down. He could go that entire route, right? And then be more of a situational guy. But when you've dominated at the peaks at Dante Hightower, has dominated. Do you really want to be there just to be the guy that that's leading the group as almost a de facto coach? Do you want to be a Brian Hoyer? Of the linebacker group. I don't think so. I think that he's somebody that wants to go out with some on top to do a degree, obviously. And be someone that doesn't completely just ride the coattails of other guys and things like that. I think it will be back. I think that he's a really important piece as well. Not only as the defensive quarterback, right? The leader of the secondary on the field off the field, all that kind of stuff. But he's also just played really good football this year, as you said..

"Where everything is basic vanilla concepts that you and I when we were out there at practice and during August during the month of August during camp, we were watching the same red zone route combinations that they're still running now in almost January, right? So at some point, when you start to put all that on tape and you start to put a consistently on tape, then teams find your tendencies. Teams find your tendencies, teams get a feel for what you're doing down there. And there are lack of creativity in the red zone or the lack of counters in the red zone has been to me the biggest problem that Josh McDaniels has had all year long. And the frustrating part about it is is that it's not like they don't have guys that can be successful down there. They have hunter Henry Johnny Smith. I keep on coming back to this, and it's just, it's flabbergasting to me. He had 9 red zone touchdowns for the Titans last year. He has one red zone touchdown for the Patriots this year. 9 to one. That's usage, right? That's not the player hasn't completely changed in one year. That's usage. I do think that for all of his shortcomings between the 20s, there is some things that they could probably do with a Nikhil Harry. Down by the Reddit red zone and inside the 20. We're using his size using his contested catch ability. I do think that there is more motion in more options in terms of jet sweeps, pop passes, things like that at the Patriots could incorporate in their red zone offense. So I don't get too caught up in each play call with Josh McDaniels, but the red zone package, if you will or the red zone game planner and insert, that in general has been way too bland and vanilla pretty much all year long, especially this late in the year. So you can blame the weapons, you can blame The Rookie quarterback, but ultimately, at this point, they need to take the training wheels off. And if they have some interesting schemes, some different things, some wrinkles. There's no more time to waste, holding those back. Now don't unveil them against the Jaguars, right? I mean, that's not the damn thing you bring them all out. They set them up against the Jaguars. Right. If next week is a must win game against Miami, wildcard weekend. There's really no much time..

"I think him being on the field makes a huge difference because part of the reason hunter Henry wasn't as involved last week is the bill's basically took the safety. They normally leave over the top. All of a sudden he kill Harry's out there at the ex? They're not worried about putting that safety over the top, right? Yeah. All of a sudden, that guy crashes down into the box and he's helping either just just take away the middle of the zone or he's helping with contra Henry and man. So and they did it on some other on some other receivers too. But I think having Nelson Aguilar out there does make things a lot easier for them beating coverages offensively. I'm not saying that they're fine that everything's okay when they have Nelson Aguilar out there, but it's better. Right, so that was my next one. Was factor fiction and we just found out about 20 minutes ago before we started hitting record here and started taping. That Nelson Aguilar is out again this week with that concussion. So it's going to be mikiel Harry at the ex again for the Patriots a second week in a row. Factor fiction, Nikhil Harry is a significant drop off from Nelson Aguilar because now I feel like we're getting into full on fact with that, right? Yeah. And he is a 110% a much better, more effective player than Nikhil Harry and you just see it like you were saying and I'm saying fact obviously to this, you were saying this spacing, right? The route spacing that you can see where they are threatening more grass. They're just threatening more of the field. When Nelson aguilera is out there versus Nikhil Harry and to your point, buffalo is fine with leaving Nikhil Harry one on one. They said, if Matt Jones is going to throw an armpit in 45 yards down the field and they're gonna beat us like Nikhil Harry did against Indianapolis where he goes above the rim and wins a contested catch down the field and they're gonna consistently do that time in and time out. So be it. So be it if that's how they're going to win, we're going to have those safeties crowd the middle of the field and make sure that those guys aren't the ones that beat us. So Nelson agaro takes that safety with him a little bit more consistently. And I think Nelson aguilera also, if you give him single coverage down the field, is going to create more separation that maybe that worries defensive coordinators a little bit more at those throws down the field become more consistent. By the way, Cincinnati is in the red zone, Alabama had to take a time out because their defensive backstop tackling. Oh, good job. Yeah. The fact that you're fixed and Alex, you sorry, I thought I explained it before. Yeah, no, it's a fact, because you lose that burn or ability the team's need. Corners can catch up to Nikhil Harry. They can't catch up to Nelson snuggler. That's the difference. I think teams are comfortable covering Nikhil Harry without safety.

Patriots Beat

"All right, let's play a factor fiction. I wanna start with the quarterback matchup here. By the way, real quick, Alabama's in the red zone on their first drive. Of course they are. I'm sorry. It's draft prep, Evan. It's draft prep. There's a lot of guys in this game. We're going to be talking about. They don't even said today. He got to ask if he was going to watch this game. He was watching the off season. So yeah, I heard that too. I'm sorry. Our good friend drags a big Cincinnati bear cats fan. His official prediction Alex he just texted me, bear cat's 28 Alabama 24. So drags the Homer has Cincinnati winning this game against Alabama, but Alabama already in the red zone. It doesn't look good. For Cincinnati. All right, let's talk about this quarterback matchup. Factor fiction Alex, there is an argument to be made for Mac Jones going ahead of Trevor Lawrence in a redraft factor fiction fiction because and it's nothing against Mac. It's just Trevor Lawrence's was such an elite raw prospect and how many times have I given the nature versus nurture speech, right? Right. Trevor Lawrence isn't struggling because of what because of Trevor Lawrence. He's struggling because of the mess he got put in. Switch him. Switch and put Trevor Lawrence in New England in Mac Jones and Jacksonville. Patriots are probably winning the division right now. Patriots might be at 12 point team with Trevor Lawrence. In Mac Jones is probably, you know, if he's not, it's not great. It's not great because he just wouldn't have the help around him. So I, Lawrence, you know, it's revisionist history at this point. And Lawrence was clearly to pick at the time. He's not struggling because of his own shortcomings. I think if you want to give me any other quarterback, I would say that that's a fact, but Trevor Lawrence is still a generational talent who got absolutely boned by having a play for urban Meyer. I'm actually really surprised at how well travel Trevor Lawrence. There we go. Has handled this situation, right? You can drastically probably could be a lot worse. Oh, by the way, Slade bold and touchdown. Future patriots labeled not only did he handle getting drafted by the Jaguars well going into the draft and then on draft day and post strap. He's also handled himself extremely well all year long in what has been easily one of the biggest NFL dumpster fires that we've seen in the last decade with urban Meyer. He has been the adult. A lot of the time in Jacksonville at the podium during press conferences after games. He's been the one saying all the right things and echoing all the right statements. I thought he played really well last week against the jets, made some really impressive throws. He's somebody that in Bill Belichick said that this this morning as well. They were able to mix a lot of different types of concepts, right? Quick game, bootleg, moving pockets, downfield, deep throws, flood concepts against zone..

"And those are the types of things that he has struggled with so far this year. So I look at Josh Allen and I see a player that could give Isaiah wins and problems. They might need to, if Allen gets rolling and pass rushing is very much a repetitive rhythmic thing. So if Josh Allen gets rolling, you might see some brand emboldened chips. You might see some delayed releases by the tight ends, making sure they stay in and give a shiver to Josh Allen before they release into the pattern, things like that because he's somebody that could give win some problems. The other name and I know he hasn't had a good year, but now that did Isaiah McKenzie, tavon Austin is like low key, sneaky in this game, I feel like because he's got a very similar skill set to Isaiah McKenzie, right? A return specialist with good speed. You look at that game plan and if Daryl bevel and the Jaguars are are trying to ruin New England's postseason hopes a little bit here this week, they're gonna look at that game plan by the Buffalo Bills and they're gonna say, well, we have a four three return specialist and tavon Austin. So we can just run across the field too, right? He doesn't need to run a great route. He just needs to run across her. And in a lot of ways, I think that this is a really good test for miles Bryant for the Patriots secondary for the Patriots linebackers who I thought were extremely passive and I'll throw Kyle duggar in that conversation as well. Extremely passive not physical, weren't willing to jam or redirect receivers and just let Mackenzie run free in the open in the middle of the field with no resistance whatsoever. If they let tavon Austin do that, then I think he's got some speed and some juice that he can maybe get across the field in a similar way. Now I know he hasn't played a lot either with COVID back. He started in lavish kitchen all its place last week. So I don't know how much of it came on Austin. They're really going to use. But he looks to me like a player that is got a similar build and speed and skill set in general as somebody like Isaiah McKenzie and they I feel like the patrons took Isaiah McKenzie lightly last week. I think they looked at it and they said, no Gabriel Davis, no Cole Beasley. We got this, right? Let's Stefon Diggs go for 200 yards and we'll be fine. And they forgot about Isaiah McKenzie. I think one of the things that really stood out to you about Mackenzie's day, you looked at that route chart that next gen put up and all he's doing is running crossers. He ran, he must have run 20 crossers. It's the same crosser. It's the same. It's not like he's running different variations. The author from right to left, crossed her from left to right. Cross her from right to the whole thing is just going straight across the field every single time. And eventually you're going to start to hit on some of those when there is no resistance in the middle of the field. There's no help in the middle of the field and you're asking miles Brian to just track him coming across the field..

"One go through and he'll be and I think the offense as a whole too. I think that's part of it right hunter Henry talked about it. He had a rough game last week. I think we all recognize it and kill Harry had a bad game last week, right? Kendrick born didn't play. So I think these are maybe guys that just took cold. They're cold and they need that little bit of a boost and what a better way to get it than against not even the Jaguars like half the Jaguars with all the guys they have on COVID. Yeah, okay. Last thing here and then I want to play our game of fact to fiction. Anybody on the Jaguar is not named Trevor Lawrence 'cause we're gonna talk about Lawrence here in a second. Anybody else on the Jaguars were you in this game? Is there any player on their roster that you look at and say, if this is a game, if this is competitive, it's because player a had a huge game. Is there anyone that in Jacksonville that thinks you think is capable of delivering that type of performance? Yeah, so I'll give you one that doesn't one that did. Well, that does Josh Allen. And maybe I'll just shell shocked and I don't want to see nothing on the room patriots two weeks in a row. And he's been on COVID all week. So we'll see how much he plays. I just think he's a really good player, right. He was a major reason. They beat the bills a couple months ago. And the Patriots offensive line specifically Isaiah win hasn't been as best the last couple weeks. So all of a sudden he gets in there. He creates a couple turnovers. He created three against buffalo, right? So he can flip a game. I'm not saying he's going to by any means, but if there's, you know, I kind of go into it part of the way I prep for games or one of the things I do to prep for games that look at who is that game ruiner on each side of the ball. If Jacksonville has one, I would think it's Josh Allen. So there's that. The other one and you're gonna roll your eyes and me at this and he's not playing the got put on IR on Monday. But that would be where is he here?.

"I'm Evan Lazar, joined as always by Alex barth and Alex, not exactly the most exciting game to get up for on a Sunday afternoon and following new year's, even New Year's Day, but the Patriots will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. There obviously is a lot on the line for New England in terms of playoff implications. Coming off two straight losses, but I think the biggest question going into this game for the Pats is and you look back and a lot of the questions that have been asked to the players this week as well about that week 7 win over the New York Jets. The jets come to town, but patriots beat them 40 54 to 14, I think it was or 54, 13. And clearly rode that wave of confidence to 6 more wins in a row, right? A 7 game win streak overall. And that game to go out there and beat the doors off the jets set the tone for that winning streak. So can the Patriots as we're talking about here today jump start the engine against a Jacksonville Jaguars and use them as a stepping stone as a spark plug to go on another run like they did earlier in the season when they played the jets. Yeah, I think so, guys talked about this at the time that they felt like they were doing all the right things in that jets game was just a form of validation to see just all the work they were putting in that it was for something that they were on the right path all of that. Now, I wouldn't necessarily say they've been doing the right things the last two weeks on the field like they did against the colts and the bills, but maybe behind the scenes something like that. I do think that it can be momentum boost. They have to win big. It can't be comfortable. Like I think they need to win by at least three, four touchdowns to make that happen. But I do think a get right game in that sense. Yeah, it could be some sort of validation vindication for this team as they move forward. Yeah, this team specifically has that week 7 game. I think obviously when you lose some games late in the year, the 2018 season is consistently the one that comes up, right? The Patriots lose back to back games to Pittsburgh and Miami and they win two straight against the bills and the jets and they go on a run and win the Super Bowl. Now, no one's saying that that team had Tom Brady and two other patriot legends on it, right, Rob Gronkowski, and Julian Edelman were on that team, a defense set had maybe some more proven cornerback talent, at least, right? It was the fun Gilmore I would say being on that team..

New England Patriots Press Pass

"Front for New England on Thursday afternoon. They have added offensive tackle. To the reserve COVID list and they have taken defensive linemen Dietrich wise off of the reserved COVID list. So one player on for the Patriots, one player off, Matthew judon, juwan Bentley, Brian Hoyer, Joshua, and Brandon king, along with the new addition and Cajun remain on the reserve COVID-19 list for New England, of course, the NFL just released new protocols earlier this week, saying that after 5 days of quarantining, asymptomatic players can be removed from the COVID list, so players like Bentley and judon then went on the list on Monday, have a good chance to play in the game on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars and speaking of those Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags currently have 27 players, 27 players on the COVID-19 reserve list. That means they only have 33 healthy bodies right now on their entire roster, including the practice squad. Now, as I just mentioned, a lot of those players tested positive earlier in the week and have the potential to be removed from the list in time for Sunday's game. But the two and 13 Jaguars already have their word cut out for them if they're going to contend with the 9 and 6 patriots agile stadium on Sunday now add some COVID editions to the list and a COVID outbreak in Jacksonville in the long long odds continue for Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars, the Patriots also placed rookie defensive back Joshua Bledsoe on injured reserve. Blood cell is dealing with a calf injury. And this will likely hold him out for the rest of the season after not being active for a single game in his rookie campaign. Now on the injury report for the Patriots, right guard Shaq mason did not participate in Thursday's practice session due to an illness. Now the patrons have used the illness destination in the past for players that are potentially close contacts to players that tested positive for COVID-19, but this has gone both ways for those that are worried about Shaq mason playing in Sunday's game. Matthew slater was on the injury report a few weeks ago with an illness and never made it to COVID-19 reserve, whereas Vermont Stevenson had an illness early last week and then eventually was placed on the reserve COVID-19 list. So can still go either way for Shaq mason. His status for Sunday has not been decided just yet joining mason as a DMP on Thursday was wide receiver Nelson Aguilar. He remains at a practice due to a concussion that he suffered in the Patriots loss to the Indianapolis Colts now over 11 days ago. So Aguilar dealing with a pretty severe concussion, it seems like he was out of practice once again on Thursday for the second consecutive day missing Wednesday session as well for the Patriots. The pads also list ten players as limited, including star cornerback, JC Jackson, with an elbow injury and wide receiver Jacoby Myers with a thigh issue, those two players were new to the injury report this week. "I know, if you look at the sheet, you're like, wow, they didn't do very much to get pressure on Trevor Lawrence. The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback. They had a ton of pressure on Big Ben Big Ben's an idiot who holds on the ball way too long and this would not let him play die would not check the ball down. Big Ben is infuriating. And the Bengals are made his life made his life very difficult and week three, but if you look at the box score, you're like, well, the Bengals defensive line, they didn't have a single sack. The only sack was what's his name Wilson, the linebacker. So here's the thing. Trevor Lawrence was running around with keeping plays alive, and he had to leave the pocket constantly because of the pressure that the Bengals defensive line got. And this Bengals defensive line is making a big impact. There was a play, they stopped Jacksonville on fourth and goal from the one yard line, and that stop was the difference in the game. Cincinnati won by three points. If they give up a touchdown there on fourth and goal, ball game over. Shout out to this Bengals defense. They're great. I'm very impressed with them. And the events of line. I knew they were good, but I knew that Sam Hubbard was good. I knew that trae hendrickson was good. BJ hill can sample these guys are emerging and you're like, dude. They're so deep. It's crazy. Now Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson this guy is having an unbelievable stretch of games. In the last three games, Logan Wilson has 33 tackles, three interceptions in a sec, a sack on Trevor Lawrence last night. Do you understand that Logan Wilson last year as a rookie? In 12 games, had 33 tackles, he's had that many tackles in three games this year..

Urban Meyer Envisions Utilizing Tim Tebow in Taysom Hill-Like Role
"Got tim t we got. We got number one. Pick in the draft playing quarterback. We got a team. That was one in fifteen a year ago. And now we're bringing it in ten tibo to run a taste him hill style package. Chris canty what do you think of that. I don't like it g. I gotta be honest with you. I mean we've seen him he'll be able to do a lot of things in the nfl. You can throw it can catch. We hadn't seen him to be able to do that at a high level at least not enough to warrant him being able to make a return after a six year absence from the sport so i just think it's a long shot in terms of being a contributor on the field with the jacksonville jaguars and if he's not going to be somebody that's a productive player. I don't think it's worth the distraction again. This is another one of those moves. This offseason got a lot of those guys in that. Jacksonville jaguars locker room looking at herbert. Meyer sideways i going out there and trying to sign. I will strength coach. Chris doyle to be your head or strength conditioning. After what happened with his tenure there and now with bringing it over i just. It's a move that reeks of privilege. And it's a move that could undermine the credibility of your head coach moving

"Jaguars Select Trevor Laurence quarterback Quinson. That is not a surprising number one overall pick, is it No, not at all. You know, he's in the same breath of danger Lot coming out of Stanford, Peyton Manning coming out in front of sea. So when you're running 15, you got a lot of needs and Jacksonville and they will try and build around. Man of the hair, and I'm very, very seriously watch it. Obviously, the cold will have their hands full trying to defend it for the next decade or so, right. And obviously, since there were so many quarterbacks good quarterbacks in this draft, the thought was that maybe the Colts would trade down and have an opportunity to get a a better than typical player at a higher than you know, maybe you'd pushes far down in the draft in previous years. They did not trade their pick. Were you surprised in that? Little bit talking to Chris Ballard there general manager after the draft. Basically, they had a trade off of the table. We know they don't have the same number of draft picks that they typically do this year and even next year. Itself that Carson Wentz trade but quickly pay was too good to pass up and basically the two traits that they feel like and the Colts eyes really stood out is he's a very unique athlete at that position from a strength and explosive. Athletes standpoint, this guy is just kind of a rare breed of £260 for his ability to get off the ball and have that explosive first step. And then secondly and for those that watch the telecast. There's a great character inside equity pay. This is the guy that it was family fled. War torn Liberia moved to Rhode Island at a very young age with his mom. So from Donald diversity and just character, which means so much for the Colts. This power felt like it was too good to pass up well, and I will also say this about the personality of quickly pay. This is what it sounds like. Right after you interview a guy that's about to make a bunch of money, and his first reaction is Mom's retiring from my family. She's done working. She's retired, the.

"All right. Can you mind please okay. The my best is gonna to be steve's dog guys. Congratulations steve. I'm very happy for you. Never coming back olympic up his worst. No it's not. i'm happy for you. You're excited you gotta dog. Congratulations my worst. Is the over under on this game. Suck at steve. Okay over under going into this game with thirty three with snow in the two thousand five hundred ninety a modern day. Nfl over under thirty three. I mean they barely got the over now or better okay. Smashed shoulder all right. Well the the the last week's game was thirty. Five twelve nothin point times man times and both these defense were hot. I'm a little surprised. Went over be honest can't use. You'll tear your website or under. This should be able to you could do. Can you guys hear me my best sandwich. Kelly just but my worst worst great. Eli's timing on dinners pm. Every every thursday with times. Dinner served dinner at eight. O'clock was one other patriots game with a lower over under than this game really. Well how did you figure this website. You can filter by over swede website. Any thousand cleveland browns. On your fucking hat. It was nineteen to eleven we lost to the browns and the over under was thirty two and it was under the under way. Which was that two thousand who so this is pretty remarkable then overrun to a be thirty three. What week was that safe a week. Eleven all right so. Because i think i remember reading a story about how in two thousand because the cap had been so mismanaged by pekao probably The patriots didn't have enough money to sign a full fifty three players to the roster so they actually play with like fifty guys on the team the end of that season and they're beige like we just want guys who want to be here at this point like they're doing it to prove a point as well as having no money so i'm wondering if that contributed to an over under thirty two and then hit the because that would be about that same time. I think all right. I wish i got to go to or stadium. Apparently i did once. But i was an infant and my grandmother took me back to the car and watch it guy p in the game where they're asking these also thinking you talking about that. Yeah her exactly a link that shots to wanna listen to mama. Brown talk about schaefer stadium in the blood cells are been pestering though this kind of a dark. The dark times of the patriots era when the patients a as a franchise for our family. But then greg greg's born it all turned around not even further down..

"Ahead. Hey, J. R you kinda answered my question. When I was on home. I was gonna just make comparisons. The Knicks a venue. We've already kind of charge down that territory. Obviously, from the details you rather off. There's a big upside given what's going on with Jacksonville. Did the deal. Explain what terms of compensation he's going to be getting? No from everything that I've seen. I haven't seen compensation yet. I would gather based upon where other coaches a rat. You know, the rule comes in, and he hasn't coached a game in his life. And he was in that that that 8 to $10 million range, so I would figure Urban Meyer coming in. I've pretty much gathered a pencil him in at Or about $10 million given state Okay, That's pretty much whilst thinking Standard issue. What? Not like you Like You said with only one win. I feel a lot of upside here. Obviously, he's gonna have a lot of picks to make. And Urban Meyer is used to building more than just handing off the decision. Makers like a coordinator here are coordinator there so I can upside I can understand. The only thing people always point to you is Nick Saban. He's the example of a successful college quarter coordinates coach that went to the pros and didn't do very well and He just wanted seven national championships. I don't think he's gonna be moving out of Tuscaloosa anything but that's the only conversation I was gonna make. You come into that question when I was on hold. Well, no, I'm glad I'm ahead of the curve. Paul. Thank you. So much for calling up from New Orleans. Let's not out to Colorado and let's talk to Zach Zach. Your CBS Sports Radio, The J. R sport brief show. Yeah, I think there's no really that urban can work out. I'm just a little bit worried about the owner out. I think I kind of metal little bit job. How was it years ago? Their championship s o. Your audio isn't too good. Zach. I want to address what you just said. I am. I am less concerned about Shad Khan, and that is the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jacksonville Jaguars problems over the past several years. I hate to do it and mention it, but I primarily point to Tom Coughlin. Tom Coughlin, as we know was right there. When the Jacksonville Jaguars were basically awarded a franchise, he helped build them into a respectable team that just basically disappeared into the toilet. Not too long after we know Tom Coughlin eventually got the head coaching job of the Giants. We know about the success that they had Tom conflict also had to adjust his style. Things change. Tom Coughlin was a task master. Do what I say. You're five minutes late, Unless you're 15 minutes early, just etcetera. He had the change. He had to relax. And then they won again. He was basically on the hot seat. Retires. He has an opportunity to now run the team, The Jacksonville Jaguars the team where he originally was, and here we go. He brought in that same old man mentality and, unfortunately, the Jacksonville Jaguars got fined. Started ruffling the feathers of some of the stars. We've seen the exodus and Doc Way, Ramsey. I can go on. They weren't happy there and could you blame them? But this is a different this is a different situation right now. Tom Coughlin is gone. You're still waiting to see who the full time general manager is gonna be your bringing in Urban Meyer. I think it's less about shad Khan, but more so about who's running the show. He had a lot of faith, and he had a lot of patients in conflict until he couldn't anymore. All this started literally costing him money and finds J is calling up from Pennsylvania J. You want CBS Sports radio? How you doing? They are so perfect. I got two points to make. I think Urban Meyer and the lot is overrated personally, and I think you know, coaching. Usually, if you look back at the college championship top recruit team, they recruit the best win the championship. So if you got a better team you're supposed to want Secondly, if you look at the history of the college coaches, I don't know any college coaches that won the championship, a Super Bowl to Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer. So like these college coaches Don't seem like they're really like they can coat with even playing field. They can only coach when when the thing is loaded to their favor. I don't know. I want to know what you think about that well. And I said this in the last hour How many coaches at all. Let's think about every coach and now I don't have the statistics. It would be ridiculous. But if we really thought about every single head coach that was hard in the NFL. How many of them went anything. Look at that the odds and the chances of slim Coaches get hired to get fired. Forget college. We could say that about all offensive coordinators. We could say that about defensive coordinators. Could basically lift up my hand. And just say over the past 20 years, maybe 30 years. These are the coaches who have won titles and championships. And then everybody else is just like, okay, You got one. And then maybe you got one there and and you got to Let's boil that down so all 32 head coaches The majority of the head cultures right now in the NFL aren't going to win a damn championship. So I would unnecessarily measure that and say, Oh, well, College coaches can't win and I fell. Coaches get jobs and they can't win. That's just the reality. It ain't for everybody. You get your job, You get your salary..
