"Hard headquarters in Medford congratulations Jane conseiller of Methuen enjoy the show all right so I I probably you confuse you by throwing out too many topics but that's okay we'll take them one at a time and I'd like to get your response space savers they say it was probably don't matter much to those of you in the suburbs but if you're in the city and you shovel out a parking space should you be able to claim that space as yours for forty eight hours once the city declares a snow emergency I say yes Jacqueline cassman of the Herald if you read her piece today in the Herald says city hall needs to crackdown on parking space savers my question is this if you were to dig out a space no no blizzard big store big snowstorm ten inches was emergency and someone parked in that space and we came home was parked in that space what would your reaction be and would you do anything and again we'll be be careful what you say the radio but would you just drive by the space that you shoveled out eight or nine hours ago and say oh Gee it's too bad my my parking space is gone I don't think so it's a it's a long tradition here in the Boston area and I think that tradition should continue to survive despite what Jackie Cashman Jacqueline Cashman in the Herald wrote this morning also how's your commute Ben the last few days obviously the roads haven't been bad at least my travel on the roads has it been bad now maybe I'm traveling at off hours I'd love to know how you did if you are an Orange Line M. B. T. a writer did you hear some of this uncommon noise on the one hundred and fifty two brand new brand new MBTA cars and if you did are you happy that these cars that have been taken out of service because they had been taken out of service even though they would just put in service last August and of course that would be a multi million dollar investment I'm trying to figure out how much it has to be almost close to billion dollars yesterday the T. had a kind of a rough day they had a rough day on the water with the NBA but the ferry coming up from him on a Monday morning the way I read this story it looks as if it almost capsized because of the high winds in the choppy seas and a lot of people two hundred twenty two people many of them were very concerned is I would have been and then there was the head of the smaller set of again it just shows you with the transportation system that we have this one car somehow detached a complete a commuter rail coach Kerr somehow detached so you leaving south station and all of a sudden you realize seems like our our a vehicle our car here is slowing down and you realize not only is it slowing down but is stopped and that caused all sorts of problems throughout the system so what do you think I'm looking for some predictions what do you think.

"Three one ten thirty will get that right to some lucky winner though Cup is winter let ME I know it's December third I get it it's still we still have almost a month the fall left right September October November December but it's winter it is winter time it already the MBTA is showing more problems we're going to talk about that you had passengers on a ferry that left him on Monday morning it sounds like it almost capsized MBTA I had a book there were the reports that I'm reading he here and I believe I'm not I always like to attribute these some some we can attribute some we kind of not exactly sure where this is from however it reports that twenty or so cheers fell over people were fly people flying so that was pretty scary the ferry which can carry up to three hundred and forty seven people had two hundred twenty two passengers on board at the time according to the T. which oversees the Boston Harbor cruises operations of the ferry northeast wind speeds gusting up to forty miles an hour for several hours making for choppy conditions on the water hope you took your Dramamine and the way in that anyway the Massachusetts which had the issue is what is called a mono hall very Cordy the MBTA there will not be using the model held mono how bodes well the weather persists persist said the good news the catamaran boat which the transportation agency says is more stable in choppy conditions good move good move then you had a MBTA train which detached while leafing spelled station about seven AM yesterday morning ten passengers on board I guess the train came to a stop was the engine pulling the trend and the passage would transfer to another train but that caused all sorts of congestion so later own any due to the the MBTA reported by the way the MBTA his PR people they never make a PR people available due to terminal congestion caused by disable trainer sell stations entrance all trains may experience delays of up to twenty minutes in both directions okay later wish to train five twelve in this is out of the Boston Herald editorial this morning was to train five twelve has departed Worcester and is operating one hour and five minutes behind schedule due to the light arrival of blown to train five oh seven because by track congestion at south station and a power issues with the with the power issue with the main engine so how would you like to becoming the boss of an important meeting the governor says get out of the cars right take take the T. of the Herald editorial today says apparently even the MBTA brash brass underestimates the ability of the T. two out T. itself a now besides that the the PS to resist owns here is new Orange Line trains member those that were rolled out with great fanfare introduced in August if this is December just into December so they ran pretty well September October November now they got a problem they are making uncommon noises and all one hundred and fifty two of the new Orange Line trains are going to be pulled until they can figure out the problem they have been pulled from service because of an uncommon noise a wonder what that means the T. said today the latest setback to the embattled new models of cars introduced in August this is into Martinez's piece out of the Herald today vehicle engineers continue to closely monitors the trains performance during each of the while they're there the trains is being monitored but they they're hearing uncommon noise okay so if you want to talk about how easy it is and how convenient and how reliable public transportation is a Massachusetts that's great the other issue that is kind of related and I want to incorporate that when this hour as well space savers here's the question if you live in Boston I Jacqueline Cashman who's a friend of mine she's a call a columnist and reporter the Boston Herald she doesn't like the idea of space savers she lives in the south end get if I shovel out a parking space please don't put your car in the parking space do yourself a favor do me a favor as well Jackie can't Jacqueline Kashmir of the Herald I think he's dead wrong we actually invited Jack with internet but she was dog tired and she's got to get up early tomorrow morning she wasn't docking me she's a great friend she says that she wants space savers to be eliminated even in South Boston I don't think that's likely to happen in South Boston normally with the city declares a snow emergency and you and you have to shovel out of space you can save that space by putting anything you wanted there an old washing machine your mother in law it'll chair whatever you whatever you have a bicycle for forty eight hours he put gonna put your mother lying there please give give a blanket at least maybe your cot to sleep on an umbrella would be good too I guess south end in Boston's south end band space savers a few years ago mayor Menino I did not support that but apparently mayor Martin what money walls let the self and act on its own policy after the local neighborhood associations push for it well I don't know how it's going in the south end I know how would would probably go in South Boston but I want to hear from you what do you live in the south into South Boston we live in the south Bronx it is a big snowstorm in you shovel out a parking space what do you do if somebody parks in that parking space when you come home and what do you do particularly if you had left something a piece of furniture or something in that parking space to designate that was a shoveled out space and it was yours should you have the right do you agree with Jacqueline Cashman that there should be no space savers or do you agree with me that yeah you should have a right to own that space on a public street for forty eight hours because other than that why would anyone anyone shovel of parking spaces let's open up these line six one seven two five four ten thirty triple eight nine to nineteen thirty little bit of a transportation package here you can talk about the MBTA how did ride the last few days you can if anyone was on that boat from him gotta love to hear from you if you were on any any of these new Orange Line trains how do you feel now that the Orange Line trains have been taken off out of commission because of some strange noises maybe some of you heard the strange noises and space savers look I support space savers in South Beach in the south and everywhere I just think if you're good enough to show a lot of parking space that space should be yours for forty eight hours if it is working in Southie tonight give us a call six one seven two five four ten thirty troubling nine two nine ten thirty side with Dan rate the news watch never stops WBZ newsradio ten thirties you know that mortgage rates have plummeted to a three year low inter nearing his store close at the same time home that is gonna abruptly fifty percent in the last several years however they seem to be peaking now maybe it's time to.

"You're under a cloud yeah it's like they just don't learn many I you know I thought Duilio was different I don't know why it's a it is as a political reporter embarrassing I suppose to admit that I just remember when they were term limits and of course everybody knew what was going to happen which it did happen it's which is he abolished the terrible it's as soon as he got into the speakers a seat and now those term limits have been way blasted past it was I think it was three terms was the limit or something like that in the term limits or three or four terms buddies blasted way past that and it is not shown no inclination to leave dilio of course remember we remember long time ago this is ten years ago bested representative John Rogers I remember when there was the leadership fight we around try accelerate yeah leadership fight with John Rogers this is to succeed seldom Macy of course you know we all departed under big cloud and then later on was convicted of corruption charges Marty Walsh of course was on the wrong side of that fight Marty Walsh was on John Rogers side yeah I forgot about that yeah one of the reasons probably why he left to run for mayor because he didn't have much future you know it's it's a house it's actually not he made a surprising recovery I know you know he's a good schmooze got his chairmanship back I think he was a very quick something he was there for long enough under dilio too it was like there was a story written about him about the fact that basically he went from being sent somebody on the wrong side of the speakers fight to somebody with a modicum of of influence in in power and the state house I think he just was I is always been a good sort of schmooze yeah and he was easily oil guys wasn't gonna leave he was gonna band in John Rogers I think that was the point yeah why delay probably don't want to be on the wrong side of Wallace Wallace was chairman of the ethics committee at the time so I never want to have that guy as your enemy so it's probably smart move on to Leo's part to keep them in position but of course we had before do Macy we had Thomas Finneran of course left under a cloud was later indicted and see he lied under oath he lied to you guys yeah yeah but the idea was yeah there was this redistricting that he was a part of it is that I can't remember what they argued that what exactly he did but I mean the GS was that he he didn't follow the rules when it came to re districting right so much so that I remember when to Leo did it had to do redistricting on because it's every ten years with the census yeah dat dilio like had this you know almost went over the top yeah terms of of being careful and above board and all that sort of stuff it to show you how much power to Leo still has there were reports that Jay Kaufman former state rap from Lexington claimed he was told he would lose his chairmanship if you didn't vote for certain transportation bill and they delay was asked about that after his weekly meeting with the governor and the Senate president and to Leo said simply was not true it's as simple as that it simply was not true so he's the nine claims but this is the kind of thing that why we need fresh speakers more often is because that little things like you know speaker having so much power that he's allegedly telling people you know vote for this bill or you lose your chairmanship right so you know it's it's interesting though that you know Billy does have some critics but most he's he's been able to coalesce support around him because he's a fairly moderate yeah represent he's not like a kind of far left liberal and which of course the liberals it dries liberals crazy that he's not a far left liberal they would love to have one one in the speaker's seep of course they're never going to challenge the Leo at this time now you know I don't know if you remember but at one point guy Charlie Murphy I and I remember that right and give me valley yeah were considering trying to topple dilio almost as soon as he got the seat yeah I remember that in Westland well it was a it was a blood bath yeah I mean basically dilio got wind of this they were I mean they were pretty sloppy they were like actively lobbying right campaign writing yeah to be the next speaker art right under it we didn't have the votes so you never want to do that if I don't have the votes I now so yeah it was not pretty and so both of them lost their chairs and they were out of there you're listening to the baton fell shown here with Hillary should bow and our producer Megan odd alleni Meghan you have a Mike back there I I do I'm very has a word very hesitant to the my decisions Hey day during this yeah you're doing a great job course news show hasn't gone you know dark yet or anything like that we're doing science we now as far as we know if we if we have gone dark please let us know but if you have any questions you know I always like to to get feedback from listeners you can also always go on my Twitter pages at Joe batten felled and send me a question or comment if you like and I'd be happy to respond do you have any concerns or questions about the show or just what are different topics on the show if you want to talk about a different topic it's at Joe batten spelled and of course you can always listen to I can't we used to have of the ability of texting I used to get tax from people out I'm not sure if we still have that or not that tax I don't have that anymore I Christian use our former producer Christian used to I have it and get it back okay on a lark Hillary has it so she might be getting you I used to get taxed regularly on my show and was able to respond to them live but I'm not sure because I don't have that having capability on my floor yeah I know it's probably vanish from your from your apps on your phone but it's safe it was it you can also you can listen to us to the tune in app and of course the sound cloud iTunes Google play and stitcher all available podcasts all available on those outlets so anyone of those you know you can search for the baton felled and I'm sure it will come up and I'll be tweeting out and sending out a link to this show when we're done and don't forget of course after this is twenty twenty vision our podcast on the twenty twenty presidential race so you want to stick around for that with Hillary sure Bo is well and we'll be talking about the latest polls in the latest in the in the race for president right now we're talking about the house speaker ship in Massachusetts and how Robert to Leo is said he's going to run for reelection and go through twenty twenty one in the year of our lord is it does does Shattuck thing used to say in the are well yeah twenty twenty one twenty and twenty one but that's what he would say but diluted Leo is gonna be here for at least another two years kinda like bill Belichick you know he's got it doesn't want to cede power has can complete power over the reins of the state house at least on the house side and has no plans to relinquish that power should come as no surprise to anybody who's watched the Leo over the past few years and the fact that he eliminate term limits as soon as he got into his office is is indicative of that we you know Joe you what I did this project recently open up the house whenever and talking to you know I was talking to Michael Morrissey from mark rock about how it helps keep lawmakers accountable and basically he said listen you know especially weak when it comes to the speakers yeah they might actually want to be held accountable considering their history right right there's been so many over the line right I mean they they are you there so powerful they don't I I don't know the basically been making serious mistakes when it comes to abusing their own power yeah and dilio managed to escape the whole patronage scandal I mean he was right all day in it and was named I think was he an unindicted co conspirator in that we believe but me managed to escape any charges in the whole patronage scandal and survive that so and there's been nothing since then no big scandals since then I've been plenty of scandals in the state house but none directly involving him is so but you never know it's that it's early yet so you can still hope for that I also want to talk about just quickly you know we have elections coming up we have election next week a local local elections and there's an interesting city council race going on at Boston city council normally no one cares about the Boston city council the only reason we care about the council is to know who the council president is going to be because then that person will become mayor of course if the man every steps down a road or resigns or whatever so the city council president becomes mayor and everyone jockeys for that position but the city council doesn't have a whole lot of power in under a under mayor Walsh they kind of like gad flies war against him but there's an interesting race and Jacqueline Cashman our friend Jacqueline Cashman writes about it in the Boston Herald today so you can check it out of bostonherald dot com subscribe to our paper and you get all kinds of content like this but there's a Republican running and you probably know her Jennifer Nasser yeah I'm used to be the chairwoman of the Massachusetts Republican Party is running for city council and there's a little many brouhaha are going on she's running a gay and the debate district eight this is a beacon held district city council she running against a Democrat Kenzie Bach there's no partisanship in the Boston city council so a Democrat can run against another Democrat or Republican running it doesn't matter what what your what your party is but she is running against a well known Democrat on Beacon Hill Kenzie Bach and Kenzie bark recently sent out a letter that seem to imply that she has been endorsed by her former opponents in the race she says quote in the day it this is Kristin mobility Hellene Vincent and Montez David Hey would all former opponents of hers and Jennifer Nasser was second in that race so she gets to go on this run off against candy bar but she wrote.

"Ray on WBZ newsradio my thanks to Essex County district attorney John Blodgett it is a tough job to be a district attorney these days and having spent some time in courts as a TV reporter and also was a lawyer it's it's amazing how many people allow their lives to get messed up and how well you're a John budget had to say there's a guy who really is trying to do the right thing and I wish every district attorney approached his balance about him that that I admire and respect immensely now gonna change topics and I will try to get and it's if we can get maybe Rachel Collins Michael o'keefe couple of did we could do a couple of hours right I'm sorry Rachel Rollins I keep saying ritual called Rachel Rollins okay my mistake get a couple of district attorneys in here and have them sort of go back and forth as to what their what their philosophy is towards dealing not only to to defend and protect and care for victims of crime but also obviously to to try to get people who are who are finding themselves in the system either punished appropriately or put on a path so they can get out of the get out of the system it is the October twenty fourth I heard don mentioned earlier to Munch to Christmas Eve mmhm was it the year has kind of flown by now we're going to go from a very serious thoughtful topic to a a topic that maybe a serious may not require as much thought as an article yesterday that I think my friend Jacqueline Cashman road is actually on Tuesday that she wrote in the Boston Herald would probably was published yesterday because it was published on their web page on their website on Tuesday afternoon around three thirty end Jackie Jacqueline lives in the south end of Boston and there apparently are problems with dog owners and so there is that that conflict if you will between those who own homes property in Boston and the only dog owners but dog walkers and the article I initially thought would deal with people not picking up after their dogs but apparently there's another element to this problem and again the problem is that the dogs I do need to go out and dogs do what dogs do it's as simple as that but apparently early in some of the Tony sections of the back bay and also Beacon Hill in the south end it isn't the people who are not picking up after their dogs with those little baggies that that dog owners should always carry with them when they're out walking their dog that's a problem that's a big problem anyone who has ever been walking down the street not only in Boston but anywhere and found themselves making the mistake of not watching their step up and stepping into something that a dog had left on the sidewalk that's frustrating but apparently there's another issue and that is that dogs who sometimes I urinate what are they urinated gets well classic dog would you figure and I guess the hydrant against the treaty but apparently they also have these really really nice fences fence rails you've seen the book black fences are very ornamental and apparently the dogs when they urinate against these these fences it causes the fences to deteriorate and there was at least one homeowner who posted a pretty tough sign please respect our home do not let your dog and then an expletive on our flowers well currently one of the other neighbors saw that posting and was offended by it according to Herald columnist Jacqueline Cashman and called three one one a complaint board in Boston characterizing this sign as illegal graffiti and she was upset that she had to explain what the word again the expletive deleted meant to my twin daughters while we were walking to the car that doesn't work she went on to say this is gross and offensive I don't know what the word wise but if it said it was saying don't let your dog on my flowers which is I suspect is what it was or maybe some variation of the P. word I think that's a little I think most kids I understand what that word is spot to to to think that apparently people who have a botched meal expended a lot of money for a wrought iron fence you don't have time but they're the low fences will you be the high fences you know generally black ornamental fences and apparently the dogs who urinated these fences are causing the fences to deteriorate so I'd like to just open the phone lines up and talk about dog walking etiquette whether you own the dog or what do you have a signed the dog to a dog walk you know there are a lots of people in Boston these days and I think it's kind of unfair who have a dog in an apartment and the portal doesn't get out and has to sit in the apartment with his or her legs crossed until the dog Walker shows up at two o'clock you know there's a if you're going to have a dog you have to be responsible and the dogs will have to do with dogs do so I'm gonna open up the phone lines and I don't care if you're a dog owner or a dog Walker or if you somebody who is offended by the the number of dogs in your neighborhood and what the dogs to do in your neighborhood and how the owner's control them let's get it going here six one seven two five four ten thirty triple eight nine two nine ten thirty I will say this this is my position if you've ever owned a dog you can influence a dog we're the dog might decide to go to the bathroom in a significant way going to be very careful with the language here you you if you're smart you can sense that your dog is starting to I don't know sniff the ground sometimes walk in circles and you know that something big is going on all right and you can influence the dog you can kind of pull the dog away or if worse comes to worse than the dog does do something on the sidewalk you pick it up in the in the plastic bag but if a dog as you walk along the sidewalk decides that he she needs to lift their leg quickly they're very fast very fast okay so I don't have a lot of sympathy in my opinion for the folks who have the beautiful wrought iron fences because I don't think it's realistic to think that you can yank your dog away as he or she has lifted their leg and is going to quickly urinate on a wrought iron fence I don't find that to be something this realistic maybe you do six one seven two five four ten thirty triple eight nine two nine ten thirty let the battle be joined dog owners in dog walkers on one side and those who do not all dogs had no desire to own dogs but feel that they are being impacted it a couple of ways by their presence six one seven two five or ten thirty triple eight nine two nine ten thirty side.

"To use twenty eight million dollars to restore redesign to refurbish the park and make it more of a destination is looking for your ideas actually if you have any ideas six one seven two eight six five six three three we'd be happy to hear them what to do with Boston College to make it more an attractive area to to visit so what what would you do to get the Boston common more we end up would you be kicking out the homeless people there would you be kicking out the drug dealers there would you be sort of trying to work around them and you know make it so it's a more appealing for tourists to come in and visit the park six one seven two eight six five six three three is our tax six one seven two eight six five six three three try to get Christians attention years respect two but where we talking to Jacqueline Cashman in as in a second I believe about her column if you were a great column about called common indecency this is a plea for Marty to clean up drugs homelessness and violence in Boston common this is a she says the once lovely tree lined path from the boil some tea station to Park Street has become an alarming gauntlet America's first public park deserves better Marty Walsh announced the investment last winter after the city sold the went to restrict square garage for a hundred and two million dollars the deal was controversial sis infusion of cash help sell the sale to.

"Welcome everybody to baton so this is your house Joe batten so the next hour or so we're gonna be talking about politics and other issues of the day later on this hour we're gonna be talking to Boston Herald columnist Jacqueline cash runs about her column on the Boston Commons case you didn't see it sure call me basically about all the drug use that's going on Boston common about how it's turning people off from there and the fact that you know Marty Walsh's now promising to invest twenty eight million dollars on a master plan for Boston common is looking into public input for it but catchments it go Jacqueline Cashman suggests that you get rid of the drug dealers first before he does anything but we'll be talking to Jacqueline about that I also want to talk about it didn't get a chance to talk about this Joe Kennedy yes trap possible challenge of ed Markey we have a major seismic event here in Massachusetts a potential seismic event here in Massachusetts of these two Democrats possibly clashing against each other or want to get your input on that six one seven two eight six five six three three six one seven two eight six five six three three is our tax line and let me know what you think of a potential Joe Kennedy challenge should should the Kennedys get in this race to the Kennedys think there right Sir there how they have these inherent god given rights to any seat that they want even though somebody else is already in them this challenge is going to be really it's gonna get a lot of people against each other that really don't want to be against each other right now I think there's a lot of consternation from on the Joe Kennedy from Joe Kennedy's obviously obviously Joe Kennedy wants to get in the race they want to put this out if you didn't want to get in the race or somebody's trying to force his hand to get him to get into the race either way they're clearly making a marquee people very uncomfortable and making a lot of other people uncomfortable including Elizabeth Warren who is come out and endorsed ed Markey but of course she's very tight with Joe Kennedy as well Joe Kennedy introduced her has endorsed her presidential campaign introduced her during her presidential announcement speech and they're very it was a former law student of Elizabeth Warren but she has it she I mean she has come out and put out this endorsement of ed Markey this little video she actually endorsed marquis I think of several months ago when when a few challengers came out but she probably didn't realize that Joe Kennedy was gonna possibly run against marquee so now what is she going to do is making her very uncomfortable and a lot of people uncomfortable I think Democrats don't like to fight against each other but this would create this huge fight and make people take sides that they don't well it really want to take all because the Kennedys feel there they have these right to seats that aren't even open and ed Markey has been there is seventy three years old has been in Congress for over four decades almost almost five anything but over forty years and since you've been in the house first and now in the Senate since two thousand thirteen I believe has been in the Senate since then is his races you've course he won a primary race beating Steve Lynch back in twenty thirteen and really ran a good campaign to destroyed Lynch and so that doesn't bode well for Kennedy if you think it's going to be a cake walk I don't think it's going to be the cake walk that he really that a lot of people think it would be and I don't think mark he's just going to step aside either I think Marky has some skills that are going to be tested obviously he has some weak points two thousand really he's been kind of a back bencher in the house for many years and then all of a sudden he was elevated to hi hi roles in Congress in the house on the house side a chairmanship sub committees important committees and then when he went to the Senate he sort of became like the junior senator to Elizabeth Warren but it'll be interesting to see what happens I love this I love the fact that Democrats are fighting against each other and they don't want to what do they they're very if you about it the whole thing and wish would go away but it's kind of these are going away I think they're hoping that these this talk about Kennedy riding will sort of force marquee out of the race I don't think that's going to happen a marquee is sending out reams of emails now like every five minutes about this Liz Warren endorsement which she is saying is a big deal I'm not sure Liz Warren for she made some comments over the weekend that indicated she kind of supports Joe Kennedy to so even even Elizabeth Warren is kind of split it with the joke with this Joe Kennedy marquee thanks so we'll see what happens six one seven two eight six five six three three also want to get your views on the Boston common I don't know with a lot of you even go down to Boston common anymore but it's been a it's gotten worse in the last few years it usually it's is that the drug dealers have spread to like Park Street the park street station which is usually like tourists central but now that the drug dealers have spread up there and it's gotten pretty bad boys there the Boylston street station is the worst that's right across from our preschool but it seems to be going on the drug trade seems to be going out right in front of the cops eyes and nobody seems to really want to crack down on it and that is a severe homeless problem on the on the common as well but this is the city's oldest Parker was created like sixteen twenty I thank one of the oldest parks in the in the entire country and it's a shame what's what's going on with it the people at tourist can't go down feel free to go down and not get harassed by people are doing drugs down there so but we did a story on the cities three one one hot line they have this is sort of people call call to make complaints about the city or are you a pot holes or whatever city hot line has more than two thousand complaints on file for Boston common for drug addict camps to harass scene Bruisers with others at a city quote many common listening session Monday agreeing safety is a top concern now Wall says mayor Walsh was put this on line survey up is trying to get people to chime in on what they think should be done with the common so also schedule series of pop up little town hall meetings across the city to test the you know what what people's ideas are on how to spruce up the common and make it more of a destination area but really how are they going to do that when people feel unsafe going there that's the question so you know maybe they should cop should make a major effort in trying to get people out of their who were doing some bad stuff and nobody in that they're not going to get anything done with a comment and tell the kick the drug dealers out of there the drug users out of there there's is I'll also problems with trash strewn about needles on the ground syringe we have a picture of a syringe on a park bench under a tree actually that we found on Boston com so it's not really too hard to find these evidence of of drug use going on down there obviously people openly smoking pot on the common that seems to be the least of their problems right now I think they have a bigger problem with heroin use and people using needles in it's creating a problem you know people afraid to take their kids down there you know of course the popular frog pond skating rink is down there their little carousel with the horse the horse going around is down there and I think it's still down there used to be down there not sure if it's still in use but it was it was in use are they have beautiful trees of boss to come be these beautiful old elm trees that were planted hundreds of years ago setter you know some of them are dying but the reason they they have this money now is that the city sold this winter square garage for a hundred and two million dollars and that is going to create money to to clean up Boston common so Jaclyn is upset about that she has to take your kids across the common frequently I usually steer people away from that the common in got it direct them to the public garden instead that's a little nicer and a little safer I believe but we'll see we'll see what it what Jacqueline has to say about that Elizabeth Warren also has apologize yet again for claiming she was an American Indian it's a her by our count your third apology so you know that is a Scott obviously a big a big problem with her campaign we got some texts coming in other Joe Kennedy race Joe potential Joe Kennedy race six one seven says let's be honest Joe if Kennedy runs marquis is done yeah I guess you know you could say that if it's strictly a Kennedy verses marquee race then it's probably likely that marquis is going to lose if you do a poll right now mark you would probably be losing but that doesn't take into account Kennedy's potential performance on the campaign trail in making missteps and gaps on the campaign trail he really has only had to campaign for his C. one city one easy easy race to slide into that can house seat that he's and now he's never really had a tough race so we don't know how Joe okay is going to react in a tough races families obviously used to you know campaigning everything but there's also you know these issues with the Kennedys it before that we've seen where they've underperformed Ted Kennedy in particular has was you know had had his issues going way back to when he was in the Senate he did eventually win all those races though in question it Robbie don't forget in nineteen ninety four one that Robbie ran for that Senate seat so carries have a history a long history in the state of winning races they but there has been a case where a couple of Kennedy's have thought of getting in the race and then they had to be talked out of the race there was a couple of Joe Kennedy's brother one of Joe Kennedy's brothers was thinking of running for Congress and it actually started as I think it was Max Kennedy had started his congressional campaign and then had to get out because it didn't go well so it's not an automatic anymore that a Kennedy will automatically when Joe Kennedy is a strong candidate obviously I would expect him to to run ahead of ed Markey in a poll but there's a lot at marquee supporters in this state you know especially environmental groups that mark is been a big champion of the environment he's now co sponsoring the green new deal with Alexandra because the Cortez so he's made really strides to reach out to liberals in this state and across the country actually and so he would get some support from people mark you would for a I think if if he if he was if he was forced to defend his seat against the Kennedy so he wouldn't just be sitting out there all alone and being pummeled by Kennedy I think you would find some allies in this race not just with Elizabeth ward but with others as well seven it was as Joe why do we talk about incumbents seats like they are there's anyone should be able to challenge any incumbent true true there's also saying is a Kennedy cedar marquee seat but in a common you know when an incumbent does run it's usually a pretty easy race in Massachusetts for them to where if you're a Democrat they usually have a pretty easy time of it there's very we've seen a history of the state of people challenging incumbent Democrats and losing so that's why we refer to him as their seats because they're pretty much guaranteed to run a run for reelection they're pretty much guaranteed to win if you have a safe seat in this state five await says I'm a marquee supporter enough Kennedy runs I am very concerned about a marquee win next year not sure what five away I guess is concerned that mark you will lose yeah there are a lot of marquee supporters out there you know believe it or not in this state they would come out of the woodwork I think for and and support him so it but they would be forced to for a list of what makes it so interesting as they would be forced to oppose a Kennedy which nobody wants to oppose a Kennedy in this state we all you know the Kennedys are still is despite the fact that there mystique is sort of gone they still have a lot of power in the St Joe Kennedy has accumulated a lot of power in the house already and you know he's yeah gave that to state of the union response a few years ago that didn't go so well you.

"Welcome back I as I said before the break we're going to chat a little bit about trump in a costume and just announced across is actually gonna be having a press conference today at two thirty PM he will take questions so what this is I have this via political it's also up on CNN but labor secretary Alexander cost will hold a press conference to address questions about his decade old a plea deal with billionaire peta file Jeffrey abstain the cabinet secretary is not going to resign according to a department of labor into our official I bought a cost open will be taking questions from the media so we'll see how this goes I mean I don't know if it's going to be like a Beverly Scott you know situation where I'm referencing of course this was the MBTA head of the M. B. T. I. barely Scott who is basically had this media press conference during the middle of this under breakdown of the M. B. T. eight when it was cold and icy it'd been snowing it was really cold the subway just wasn't working and people were waiting in incredible lines so everybody was out for blood people were outraged and the have the MBTA Beverly Scott had this press conference to answer questions to be accountable to this horrible situation and it was a not show she I mean it was obviously high pressure situation everybody had a lot of questions and was very angry and I she didn't have the answers I don't think you know what I mean I basically the only answer if you had was that this is an old system you just did not come out with any quick fix which I I mean I'm not saying that there I don't know what there was so she's in the untenable position of basically just taking everybody's younger and giving them really not much to to do or to to not have any answers coming up we'll find it and she also I remember she was on with you and Jacqueline Cashman and said just dress warm thank you so much I'll make sure I so in my last name to my underwear and gas I get some frozen to death absolutely find me through the body yeah I like I had been told that since I was seven I know dress warm right out right you know I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree but I figure when it's twelve below and snow or ice or whatever you better dress warm that's the press conferences she was kind of walking around all yeah it was my first rodeo yeah like okay this it was entertaining quite something if you were waiting for a train it wasn't as she kind of making it worse yeah so I you know I'm I don't know whether this press conference will be here well I I mean you know cost of course isn't facing a a horde of people who are able to get to their jobs every day but certainly there's a bunch of people.

"Usually pretty darn a friend of me if it's doing it's it's a it's a it's a cry for help the press because they have no mate this is the part of the president the crying for help well I I we should be trying to help the peacocks in right instead of putting them in solitary confinement I watch quite a few peacock videos this morning I didn't know I was doing that but I did watch a couple of them where they're actually they are actually meeting the mail just sort of makes that noise and just jumps on top right so you have a lot of birds as much in that doesn't give anyone the the meeting the chirping whatever but just jumps on and then when he's finished he gets off in like spreads his wings wide like he was victorious are called whatever I'm like okay all right so if you're really into the no no no I I was quite a few meetings because that's what that's disturbing but they're not going to hurt you this bird is going to be even more depressed Alice in solitary confinement and is probably going to be you know terrorizing people even more terrorizing the the help they give it water and food I am not I am not going to take it if you're in case you're wondering if I'm going to take to peace talks yeah well I'm not going to hockey car chickens are ready to deal with as a peacock I think would not get along with the chicken is already on its way to your house don't lie to the chickens we're not get along one of the other so if you were walking down the street and you saw the peacock and it was flapping its wings and making that mating call noise you would be afraid to go up to it and I don't know I would go up to it now okay so there's no but you shouldn't be going up to these birds okay shouldn't be like approaching the birds and like trying to pass some or whatever but yeah I don't I wouldn't be afraid of it wouldn't be easy wouldn't run away yeah I would not run away I would not right away I think he will I think you're more of a more courage than I do have some and wild animals a wild birds I I would not ready for Turkey's either they can charge you turkeys will actually like this peacock Eiling was like charging you was just sitting on people's suit yes that was enough to frighten them a hundred again my house in the personal I feel his body or in the bird the moves away or comes in with me then I get a bird yeah don't don't let the bird inside the house don't definitely don't let the bird inside the house so if you if you're having trouble is peace talks are free no where this peacock blogs please call the Newton police and find a home for the P. got there's whoever let their peacock out should and should be prosecuted I think for mid Glaxo for neglecting their their Pat because that's what this bird is a Pat well maybe they were sick of its mating call who we could get was killing you got off of late but I yeah I know but you that you should have known when you've got the peacock but I I didn't to me like I'm going to text living to six and seven about like why would you want to own a part that that's me like I there are farms that take yeah birds like a rescue of arms that's fine that that would probably take the bird so that's probably the best place for yeah I just don't know I like like Joe schmo living down the street would want like a piece no you can't especially if they are making that call you don't want you don't want that waking up the morning every morning but or your neighbors no it does not so pleasant I would one wasn't that all day it's not going to hurt you that's what they all say because yeah sharks are different but peacocks no we're not going to have to worry about nuns hurting you six one seven two eight six five six three three of course I also wanted to get to Jacqueline Cashman had a good call today on Megan Rapinoe and her trump bashing of course Megan Rapinoe is these one of the stars of the U. S. women's World straight World Cup champion soccer team she's the co captain of the team she was asked of course the every every time there's a championship now in whatever sport it may be the big question is will they go to the White House will trump invite them to the White House you know it's become a whole thing now any time there's a championship you have to deal with that question so Megan Rapinoe was asked about it and she said quote obviously not myself not alley Krieger and I who I believe is one of color but and is which is why she singled her out and I suspected not many if any of the other players but I haven't spoken to everyone of them about it so there's no way this women's soccer team is going to be going to the White House I have a feeling that not many would be accepting the invitation and I doubt trump would even extend the invitation well she said F. that like no life right from not going to write like what you're telling me what lies yeah most most of the players I think would have the same response so I'm guessing I mean she is the team captain a co captain so I'm guessing they won't but they she did accept an invitation from a or C. two of the house of representatives so they will be in Washington some point of just not with trump course she except to the congressional invitation make exactly cash was upset about this friend Jacqueline says that wrapping always disrespecting our nation's sacred symbols and institutions and how about is she asks how about rising above and showing the man what sports mange sports woman ship looks like because the the thing is that their you know their their weapons the women do have a complaint which is that they don't get paid the same as men do for their sport not even close the price for the twenty eighteen men's World Cup was four hundred million dollars this year's women's for the women what total only thirty million dollars that's on will that's an unbelievable discrepancy so as Jacqueline says that's a fight worth having in champion championing not fighting with the president over a party instead of grabbing headlines about trump and the flag staying on message about equal pay for women will serve you much better don't feel like you have to stoop as low as so many of the men have so Jacqueline feel strongly that Meghan should stop complaining about this and start respecting the it's it's it's because when you get invited to the White House it should be all about just who is in the White House it's actually a symbol of the white house's of our country and but of course it's pretty hard to ignore trump I would say as the current occupant of the White House but you know other teams of gone some of the some of the Bruins are probably going to go I would say the Bruins lost that okay I mean not the true and that's our right when yes they did some of the red Sox when someone decided not to go so I decided so that's fine but the like the the executives of the team went yes they're all there yeah and like Alex kor movie bets a few others decided right view at Chris sale was there JD my name is and so there were some big little big high little names there too but I think it's up to everyone it was me Joe I go I don't give I don't like the president I think of pretty cool to see the White House in to say that I was able to go the White House to meet the president like I mean we had the president on the on what they do have a cold and I got talked on fifty second yeah I saw that you know before we go on the air and I wasn't like no I'm talking to trump like I can't talk to talk all right president great job by the thank you did that I enjoyed what are you will get flummoxed by that and not be able to handle what I was saying to myself may go just don't call on the prime minister he's the president just don't screw that up when I I was I was to either click Clinton or bush should know I I I was fine and I I work yeah that but a but if I was that yeah I want to go and I'd want to speak to by Mister I had to make sure Joe and it worked out I I didn't write it down though I'm I was not that I if anything but I can definitely see I I can see why people don't want to go but again if it was me I I would go but obviously Meghan Meghan was basically like again why you're asking that question of course I'm not going Hey I'm in trouble because because after and says she's a white about like winning the World Cup is like in the sort of finals right they weren't even they weren't even the final yeah they were talking about this before they'd even yeah one which I think is a mistake now but the I will say this this women's team it takes a lot of it was very cocky when celebrations are talking or whatever but they were but they won yeah but if they lost yeah no it would not have been a good luck out especially like Alex Morgan was sipping the tea like pertain to drinking too yeah and my final but if they lost that game lost will cut that would have been a good look and also the state didn't have much competition to be honest some of those teams really we're not that good they have no business losing to the Netherlands and a final Thailand in the first like no thirteen another two nothing that was what the the you know group play or whatever did see having qualified you know I I would say it is a large disparity between like good women's soccer team and like just bad but yes someone just bad yeah but you know I I did hear that they look to expand next off for years now it's like thirty two teams apparently they really want it so I get a morning battle seems much more also maybe they'll bring in more money too yeah I know the the wage thing is an issue but it really is I mean there you're talking thirty million dollars for the women four hundred million dollars for the man but the men's World Cup as a whole but in six billion dollars the women it'll cut it is all it's our ships and what it's all that yeah TV the TV ratings are higher for the women no I get that but but thing companies are willing to pay more for the men's game right then they are women's Gabriel the men's game but in six billion dollars worldwide the women's game only brought in a hundred thirty one million all right so I mean I agree there better they had what they want to players all that much better sure there are you know but as a way to get the money like if it's one evening in with me ever remembers what the men's well I don't the war over US men's noted for years no no they would go they want they don't get it yeah they didn't even call so but they admitted that they had they were never win and knowing I think I think with the U..

"Welcome back to that and fell this. If your host Joe bat and feld. Well, twelve thirty on a Tuesday do the weather to that. Fight sunny out today. Traffic on the twos. We're talking about immigration and Trump's threat to. Bus or truck or whatever these migrants in that are at the border into sanctuary cities. And. Hope to talk to Jacqueline Cashman a little later when she figures out the conjunctiva situation with their son. Talker briefly at the beginning of the show, but hope to talk to her again. But basically. President Trump as you know, probably know has threatened to overwhelm these sanctuary cities with thousands of detain migrants. And experts say this could be put a huge strain on cities that are it should be obvious that already have strain resources like in Somerville. This city councillor says that they could easily take have room to add five students to classroom. That's a lot of kids when you talking about classroom ratios, maybe they don't care in Somerville. Some real doesn't have have reputation for the greatest school system in the world. But that's a lot of students to add five students to a classroom, particularly if they're all English language learners. That would be a huge burden. I would think to a city at city school system. Because, you know, most of these kids are if not all of these kids, do not will not speak English. And or at least hardly any English, and you know, how can you possibly get your English language learners system up to school up to speed? All these new students coming in when you already you've got kids on, you know, IEP's and all kinds of plans to. To help them with disabilities. And with English language. It would be a huge drain. I would think on place like Somerville place like Cambridge Cambridge. Once again, not not a great reputation for having the best school system in the world. But but it's just gonna make those cities even tougher on kids to to get a good education in in housing. I mean, that's the number one thing about these sanctuary cities is housing most of these sanctuary cities are in places with huge housing costs. Alrighty, how are you going to possibly? Find a place for these people to live a decent place. We use people live. You can't just throw them in homeless shelters or high school gymnasiums was caught a Jacqueline mentioned her. Call him. Joker to Tony. The mayor of Somerville says they're not gonna throw them in costs in high schools. But where would you put them? He just says he just says, quote, we will provide them housing clothing, food and take care of them. But there's no specifics from courtesy Tony on how to deal with them. He ruled out putting students in cots. Quote, we would mobilize our resources like what resources do they have exactly when their their constituents already faced huge taxes real real estate costs to live there. What resources is he talking about? You think if they had the resources they would be using them already to to help the people who already live there, but this is going to be huge problem leading up and most people say it's never going to happen. Trump is just making the threat, but I think city should be forced to deal with this. And if they're gonna talk the big game, I think they should be forced to walk the big game. And talk about you know, what they're going to do specifically to take in even if Trump doesn't. Make to go through with his threats to truck in all these migrants. They're still going to be coming into the into the country somehow eventually, and where are they going to be living there a lot of a lot of them do end up coming to this area. This area's become a big magnet for immigrants coming to this country. And. Places like Lawrence, which I believe I think Lawrence is a sanctuary city as well. So they would be forced to deal with it. Two. And how is Lawrence going to possibly deal with all these people coming in? But anyway, we hope to talk to Jacqueline a little later. I was in New York yesterday's didn't get a chance to deal with the marathon. But it looks like it was kind of a nice day for the for the race. And there was a lot of inspiring stories as they usually are my inspiring story will not get written. Unfortunately, I'd always wanted to run the Boston marathon. But I haven't he replacement. So the running days are over there. But hey, you know, maybe someday they'll be advances in medicine who knows maybe in the future. But it doesn't look like I'm going to be running the marathon. And not not that I would be able to now anyway, but. New York has has a big marathon as well. But it's they like to think of their mouth on is bigger and better than Boston's. But of course, it's not they can't match the tradition that we have here. But hopefully, you were able to watch the marathon at least taking part of it because it is a fun event to watch during the day and. Of course, Vardi had the we just had the six year anniversary. To the Boston marathon bombings was pretty. Sobering. I would say because it came the race came on the actual same day April fifteenth as the as the bombing. So it was actually six years. Exactly six years. Ago, and they they had the. Church. Bells were ringing old south church in the back bay. And. It was very emotional for a lot of people who ran the race for people watching the race. And I'm sure for victims and their families. It was victims families. It was an emotional day. Get no one will. You'll know where you were what you were doing. No when they have. No, I know sat tells the story he was actually at the marathon was in between both bombs and the rent away from obviously because everyone was moving away. But you didn't know like where the next bomb was going to be if there was going to be a third, right? You could've been walking towards the next one. Who knows right? But he was able to he said gonna bus and get out of Boston before they started shutting down things. But no, very scary situation. I remember some of our writers columnists and reporters that worked at their old. We're running in it. Yeah. I know Chris Cassidy a form when he was stopped. There was was on his way down boylston Jimmy when the bombs went off my brother was working at a restaurant. He was one of the executive chefs over on Newbury street, so he could smell the smoke. He wasn't really an inner. In any danger? But he couldn't get out of the city. They wouldn't let them like they wouldn't let you get out. So he was just basically stuck there for a while. But no, very scary situation. I don't know how like the families that actually have to deal with it. The the loved ones that lost. I know crystal Campbell. I wasn't friends with I didn't grow up with her. But she grew up in Medford, just like me. So that affected like the whole city of Medford for weeks and weeks after after the marathon, they do something special for every year to her. There's like a little like a memorial in Medford to all the victims. But obviously, she's the focal point 'cause she was snacks. Grew up for your whole life because it was weird. I remember asking my kids that warning if they wanted to go down to see the marathon, you know, because we usually go down to the finish line or something like that. And they're like, no, no, they kind of outgrew it at that point. They were they didn't have an interesting God, they didn't have any dozen doing that. I've been doing marathon. If I knew someone that was running maybe I'd go and check it out. It seems like that would be cool. But since I don't really know any runners I haven't been and I'm usually working anyway. Doing this kind of stuff. So, but no, it is it seems like a cool event, and then just being out there with with all the people but on that day. I don't even know what I would like I I'm just glad I didn't. I wasn't a people. You would just react. You know, you'll find some way to react. Nobody really knows. How you how you exactly react? But no. And all those ran right right into the trouble and help people. They had no idea of two other bombs. They. To p pick people up get them to safety. Get them of we had that. You know, the pictures of people would like to legs. Pulled off people helping them to strangers not even like first responders hadn't gotten there yet. But just strangers running to help out some people just kept on running to blood banks and hospitals to donate blood vite after the ratio and these actually people running in the marathon. I they just kept running. Yeah. And to go help more. I don't know. Is it something special? About those people that were able to do that that day because again, I would hope that I'd be able to do that. But you just never know unless you're in that situation, and no one hopes to have a be in that type of situation, right? It was it was definitely a big moment in the history of the city, and I was home because I I was from that day. And I got like the alert say no explosion at the marathon. And that was like the manhole covers right? I didn't even turn it on right away. Because I wasn't watching it. And then like just kept coming in. And I was like, okay fine. I'll go look. And I was like, oh, this isn't just like any manhole covers and then there was rumors of other bombs around the rest of the city in turn out not to be true. But the the areas part was the manhunt for the killer for the bombers afterwards. That one day where they shut down the whole city. They had people shelter in place, and I had not to come out of their houses. I had friends at the time the married have kids now, but they they were living in Watertown like the next street over they all the gunfire. The the shootout with all that stuff. Like right there. Then the guy found out found actual one of the bombers in his boat in water. I think it was watered down, and you know, that boat is now where it's an F B I headquarters in Washington. Somebody texted me a picture of that because they were all people were visiting the FBI headquarters and apparently on display inside the headquarters, which I think is a little weird. Do they have like a museum of things that they've they didn't solve it. No. I wasn't even the ones that it's almost like they're trying to take credit, and they actually screwed it up by letting Zarni of the country in the first place to stay in the country in the first place. Yeah. So maybe not maybe not the best place. I don't even know how they got it. How they got it down there. It must have the guy who owned the boat died a few years ago. I guess, but but I wonder like will not happen. Deaf in Boston was involved. So yeah, they were they must've taken the boat in first, and then maybe they transported, but yeah, no little odd. I would say for it to be. Heck wasn't DC. You're saying not Boston DC who's in Boston. Maybe that would make more sense. But if it's in DC that doesn't make much sense to me. But definitely like this year. The only thing was I got up on. Monday morning. It was pouring out. So I was like if this is going to be like a race. This is not going to be good for the like, it was torrential downpours. I was. So can I go to work right up at like six seven o'clock in the morning. I'm going if this is going to be the whole thunderstorms. They cancelled the Paul revere ride all the patriots day festivities but cancelled, but I was gonna say like this is gonna suck for those wonders if they have to run on this because it was literal downpours. Although I have to say it's worse. If you're a runner, it's worse to have hot weather, much, rather have rain. I don't mind like a hot socks. I know. It's eighty something degrees. That's like the worst running whether anyone wants. But like when I was like my feet were like in puddles. Like, I'm sure there's no good speak. No soaking wet for twenty six feet already. But but no, luckily as it got a little nice voting people able to finish the race. But I may I'd like to go someday. But I've never actually been Joe, I don't know you've.

"And welcome. I am Hillary go. I was just breaking down a recipe for my co host John Sabatini, and listen, I do this. Because for those of you who who desperately miss Jacqueline, Cashman, her very simple recipes that Shattuck, and I would joke basically were like five million steps, this is the thing Jacqueline would always start off. It's really really easy. And it would then involve her clamming the co hogs ofo kit Kat herself. And then, of course, cooking them in some ridiculously special way. But no, I I had made a just basic seared chicken. But the potatoes were really the star of the show, and it was like sort of a German potato salad that ended up being more like a mash. But it worked out fine potatoes were outstanding the flavor. Just was really really good. I like I like my potatoes soft like that. Even if they're home fries. I don't like them like Julian so forth. It's almost like they're almost like, mashed potato balls in a sense. I know they were very funny. It was like you didn't have to cut them. Right. Just kind of like eight them. I'm not sure anyway, and I eat faster than any person I've ever seen. I eat like I'm double parked. No, it's very good Hillary. Thank you so much. Yes. So so obviously I had to also convey the biggest part for me was definitely these sort of port being able to pour over after seeing the chicken being able to reduce down some yummy. Sauce with shallots that were in there. And and put that on top of the chicken and potato. Yes. That was the highlighting moment, by the way. Obviously people to judge is going to be joining us today. Eleven forty is that. Awesome. Awesome. Get by Tom Shattuck, by the way. And so we are thrilled to be chatting with him in obviously this huge democratic not yet announced by the way presidential candidate. Who is just crazy popular pressure? Actually got. A note from somebody who radio Keith orpheum expressing anger that we managed to get him. How about that? A lot of pressure on Twitter. You see the people want us to hold his feet to the fire shore Dennis as soon as we re tweeted out that he's going to be on started attacking Elizabeth Warren. Right. As you do as as I don't really attack anybody. Oh, I was just get any random person just attack. Elizabeth Warren is a opening his point was, you know, his the mayor south bend, Indiana. Who knows how to say his last name is polling better than Warren? But he's such an appealing candidate. That's why right. And I think people have to kind of judge all these candidates on their merit. But I think this is a rising star is thirty six years old mayor south bend, Indiana, openly gay. He's married served in the military in the navy and Afghanistan, he's a Rhode scholar. I mean, he's got so much going for him. And he's so young. And the thing that Shattuck and I kinda Sarma townhall couple of weeks ago. The appealing part of him is that he's you know, he's a progressive, but he's also a mid western progressive. And I think it's comment about being a gay person that he doesn't like the policy of Chick-fil-A short likes the chicken. That's something that I think the Democrats can win on just being practical like that rather than Bernie Sanders who probably wants to shut down. Down Chick-fil-A or super outraged about race about everything. Like ANC is outraged over yesterday being Tuesday was people to judge. I think is much more hopeful than I think it has to do with being a mid westerner. It really is. It's just a different vibe there than say on the east coast to the west coast. Yeah. There is some practicality to him. And I think that's just that's that's a large part of this is just him. And that's the great thing about politics is that personality actually accounts for a great deal of why people win elections. And and, you know, some people feel as though that shouldn't maybe always be the case. But I mean, I think that oftentimes for for most people, and I think it's true for me as well that that personality gives you an insight in terms of how somebody deals with important things and their ability to handle things and so really really excited to chat with him. And I walked Anthony Amaury. He was a former Republican he's still. Republican but he was a candidate for secretary of state. But I really think that he is a really interesting and hopefully up and coming Republican here in Massachusetts. I just think that he first of all has an amazing resume, and I bought him because there was the security breach at mar-a-lago that folks have been some crazy Chinese lady who apparently had some sort of. I don't even know bunch of cell. Some like weird now wear something or other. So I figured Anthony Amaury. I mean, he's obviously director of security at the Isabelle's Gardner museum. The guy has had all of this experience when it comes to security and dealing with bolstering security for organizations. So I figured he'd be a good person. I also just want to start to get him on the show more definitely want to have him maybe as a running through security guy because he's a local guy. He's also. Oh, good on the radio. He's a he's got a really interesting resume, and hopefully we'll be hearing more from him. Totally great by the way, endorsed by your Boston Herald for that off. Nine security so important to it's not just in the government. But you know, we're finding that out with talking about marijuana that's going to be so important in these shops that pop up just in everyday life. I remember the story about target where millions of people got hacked into their accounts. Target. Yep. And that's scary stuff that people have so much of the data online that if someone can get in there and get into your Bank account, your credit cards can cause an awful lot of issues going forward. Social security is a very very important business. Not just for the military and the government, but in everyday life and not just for. Old lady who is sometimes home alone with her Afghans scared potential breaches to her home. Indeed, it is a much wider concern for the general public. I just tell you something what my wife sent me a text this morning. Shipley. Saying this. This security concerns. Unless. Yeah. So she texted me last night at ten then I got an eleven did you order pro flowers. Not. I said, no what is that? Six AM. She says eighty nine ninety five in our bankcard. It's just hours like that. You would have sent to somebody. Right. Like, I would use a credit card. Nope. Here's a check. Yeah. Mistress in the memo. I would say. Mistress. Keep on the DL. Yeah. I would say, Nope. Probably totally separate issue. But someone did try to sign into my I tunes account somewhere in the Middle East yesterday. Maybe this whatever she said, did you get twenty dollars out for this grow Linden's, whatever in an Uber. Yes. Senator stuff. I did. And so. Install. She said that could also be proflowers own Sheri's, berries and some other websites. And then she found out it was on her card. It was placed the order was placed last Monday. But nobody knows how so. So they are tracking. So basically anti Amaury we'll be dealing with Tom Shattuck's those what else? You just happen to be talking about like. Yeah. Breaches reaches things like that. And it shows. So my went says, it's a weird thing to have someone credit card to buy you don't have the card, and she said, I almost didn't she's up. Maybe they put the they bought something those flowers because it's innocuous, and it's a little bit of money, right? A test. Yeah. Right. Maybe if husband wife see that. But to me, it's not an Oculus because of wife doesn't get flowers. Unless maybe they think that they will just get you off your game that you're discussing this that you never gonna look you don't even want to see the credit crossville when it comes in here hoping that he actually is cheating on the wife, and he's not gonna win as you just go and confess. For the good of the country say anything about it. No. Yes. They're onto me. But it's meant to do is while we're she was happening. And we're discussing the guys Lamborghini, right, right? I did actually have my credit card breached. And I think they bought some subway things. I like New York metro transit. I thought you stop sob story. And then they did actually though by some fast food, practical stuff though, right? Yep. Yep. Gotta get that out of what's good about having limits on my credit cards and having Social Credit dumb not the candidate to be hacked into. Well. I mean, the great thing about credit cards is that you're not liable for this stuff. You can immediately report it, I mean, obviously, you gotta keep an eye on your own account. But. That is what's great about it. And that's also what's great about not using your debit card. Obviously when you're when you're dealing with those things, so Tom Shattuck and John Sabatini. Of course, we have to tell or ask the public, which one car side are you on? And and I'm telling you this. This standoff was is incredible. It is. Obviously, you get the bachelor space. We've got a world. This is the issue though. I don't know if you read the black car, which is the one what was backing. Appeared. I mean, it seemed to me like the way she was describing the car maybe had gone further than the allotted amount. You're so listen, I get it when you're when you're parallel parking. That's what you do. But what it sounded? Like was it? They had gone beyond the the point. Armley go, right. And then they sorta it clicked that there was a spot. And so they wouldn't need me, you know, back back back back back again Hillary like that sound. Reverse sound. Anyway, they went back further than just normal. Are you hearing Shattuck? I am. Okay. So that for me would make it out of bounds. My my my sense. Then would be that silver car saw that the car had passed the spot was going to get ready to do his own parallel. But saw oh a black car suddenly backing up and he said no bleep in way and got in and prevented him from doing. So. And then immediately. But can you believe the resolve? I mean, if you've read through this post, first of all. Thank you. I mean, not only an hour has passed but more than our first of all passes. But I loved that they eat. They also have the added benefit benefit of it being right near sundown. So it is actually it is daylight when this standoff starts, and it is pitch black by the time. Somebody finally opens their door and goes inside their dwelling. And meanwhile, across the street a spot opened up neither of the mood knew that is amazing. Of itself. Nobody was going to that other spot. No, this is principle. We want. Our I've missed my psychologist appointment, right? The other person. Plans right out it doesn't. Yeah. Now, this is now the most important thing on the face. This is all comes down to this. I really appreciate the fact neither of them. Engage. No, neither of them. Engage. It's this silent standoff, and the only thing that happens is that they both put their flashers on to alert. The counters of the third kind of just alerting the traffic passing by that. Nobody bleeping moving. Yeah. We're not moving these flashes, Iran. You can be aware. But you know, what you're going to have to go into the other side of the other lane into traffic. If you wanna get biased because neither of us are bleeping Motors. Rams locking horns it was. I I also think it was a way to save more saying something extraordinary here and driving. I know that when I do that I have to by law put on flashes. Just so, you know, I'm just trying to do something here. The one. You know, there's something I don't know what this is. I know it's I am so sorry to the cars driving pastels who have to deal with driving dangerous driving situation..

"Slightly cooler. But maybe that's only because it's morning cooler outside or cooler in the studio. Yeah, it's still hot in here fun studio experience. But of course, we've got Mick Jagger. I almost launched into my horrendous Jacqueline Cashman, Hillary shibo British accent rent. I. Got a heart attack. That was really bad. I managed to make that even worse than before. Tougher says it's London Liverpool one. There was nothing. There was it was like whatever just came out of my mouth was was. Couldn't even recognize what's Lugo with. It's an actresses. And personalisation interpretation kief Keith. So anyway. Mick jagger. And of course, we've got Joe Biden as well this continuation yet, a second charge has come and what's so fabulous about that. Thomas Shattuck is that now is the time by the way to have the conversation of win enough is enough for these me too moments. You know, you knew that so long as a Republican or a conservative that was facing the fire. It was always going to be I believe her full stop there is no right. There is no room for equivocating here when it comes to a victim. Okay. We are not allowed to even talk about, you know, ending any sort of entire impact on our society of these situations. We are not allowed to say. What is worse? We can't go into that discussion. That's not happening. But until well Biden, maybe we can start discussing. Also, let's see how far we've all gone with this meat. Tune saying he comes from a bygone era. Hillary. Now is the time. I think for context in terms of wear generation, I'd say, you know, where partying maybe and drinking beer that wasn't really a part of the discussion. The woman on the on the round table from meet the press said not only did you say he comes from a bygone era said. He came up in a fleshy time watch. Yes, it was a fleshy time in the sixties grosses me out. Well, I want to be a flashing times. A lot of there was that's how people mostly communicated there. The flesh spoke gross. So while today's and I really liked you own banenky? But I mean, this is this is exactly exactly what what we are. What you've been getting at which is of course, yet another liberal who with every other person it's been I believe the victim. And if you believe the victim, then that is it there is no if ands or buts here where believing the victim, and we're going, and that's that's it that disqualifier. But now now, of course, as you expected when it comes to knock each others. Of course, we have a whole list of people who are liberals who are saying basically now that it's Joe Biden, including Meghan McCain, probably now that it's Joe Biden somehow, it's different. You know, the meat has gotten too much too strong. So she says. That it's she believes her right? But that doesn't disqualify the magic recipe. It doesn't disqualify him turned truth. So her should be respected who schmaltz truth. Somebody said it was her saying, it's hurtful, you know. Who did Marquis has come out? Actually, what what I like about Markey's? He's not given Joe Biden a palace. He because he's endorsed Warren. So basically I and this is why I love the knives are coming out already before Biden has even entered the race. Yeah. Marquee, wait in and Markey says that this is her truth, and he believes her, and you know, what Joe Biden's got to decide whether he wants to run for president love it. Love it already knifing each other. All right, if true so that makes Biden unfit to be president question marks says Jones, if true what a crazy world we live in. Now, we've got to shake our head at how far we've gotten the metoo era now. A slippery slope. Yup. Donald Trump can win the White House. So somehow nobody ever said anything about Don Donald Trump's issues with me to nobody nobody nobody was hurt. Yeah. All right. He didn't. He didn't get any push back about anything. He did know. And yet now Biden is the one who's got Saddam. Trump can win the White House after bragging about grabbing women by the genitals and paying off four an act of porn actress who had extramarital sex by Biden, meanwhile is deemed too creepy to run for president while Joan I hate to say it, but it's your own party. That's doing this. First of all yet, Trump actually won the White House. But certainly he got plenty of pushback and was excoriated, I will say that was. Seven. Four seven he pretty much was was criticized, and and this was talked about and and people who lost their minds about it. So rightly so to some extent that was some weird stuff to say. I mean that was maybe I obviously he called the locker room talk. It didn't sit with well with a lot of people. So it absolutely got criticism and all that sort of stuff somehow he still won president seek. So there you go. But it was it is indeed the left that is tends to make larger deal of this. And that's why for Biden, it's it's trickier. Because of course, he's got a win the nomination before he win or goes in runs for the general. So that's the deal there. Let's see what the next go ahead. I think that the thing that saved Trump could be the thing that sales Biden with Trump was whatever we need. This is the moment and we need to to win to smash if if it gets to the general election shore because then it's a binary choice. And if the far left says, well, I'm going to sit this out because I don't like either guy, and then Donald Trump wins again, then the far left can blame themselves for not getting out to vote in November twenty twenty. They didn't get out enough in two thousand sixteen right? So. Does he decide not to run? I mean, he's like ninety five percent sure that he's gonna run. We all think he's going to announce at some point this month that he's running for president. But maybe this is too much for him. If three more stories come out, and he says, you know, what I'm seventy six I've done a lot. I don't need to go through this at my agent and go through the whole campaign answering these questions, I don't think in the general election really would impact them because then you'd have a timber Satan. Yeah. You're right, right. Because you guys up there that whatever the creepy old uncles, right? But in the primary and like you said Hillary that he's already throwing daggers. And you know, that other people are going to say things doesn't necessarily have to be the candidates. But you let's say Kamala Harris has a has a surrogate that's going to speak out against Joe Biden. She doesn't have to do it. Right. It is interesting in the media, by the way to see the lines being drawn because I mean, the Jake tapper is calling by now is is interesting to me. I don't. Issue. You're right. I said well good for you know, because listen least these consistent the very idea for me. First of all that nica is losing her bleep about this. And that what he for some reason is losing your mind. Not that. I don't equate her with with. News channels like CNN or a you know what I mean? But I just find it interesting because as much as obviously we know the media tries to supposedly play at St. I think that it's interesting, and I think that you can sort of retail leaves here in terms of who who's with who in terms of this this democratic primary, and I think I don't know that tapper I'm not saying the cappers like with Warren or anything. But I think I I actually think sorta cool if if he is actually of issue focused here, and this this issue annoys him. And I frankly, I think it's right. I mean, honestly, if a boss was doing this to any girl in the workplace that it would not be okay. I can one hundred percent promise you that. If it was done to me. I wouldn't be okay with it. I would be totally freaked out. And I don't I don't go to HR because I don't like I don't know have onto his. But but be a problem. It would definitely be a problem. I don't I would not want a person who especially hires and fires me now Biden is in a bit of a, but I suppose he'd seen as a mentor to some extent. And I wouldn't even want to mentor who doesn't have power over hiring. And firing me that I just went to to like for help or whatever I really wouldn't want that either. It's it's it's weird. I don't I don't particularly like it want a sense. If you want to compare it to say Rodger ales, right, obviously, there were many issues there. And then he was asked to leave and there were issues with that. And again as you said Hillary, he had the power to fire and hire which is the ultimate power. He doesn't at this point in the United States. But he was in the Senate, but you kind of think you'd hold him to a very high standard as vice president of the United States. I just this is just weird because I think that. It's it's troubling. I just think he's out of touch kind of like, I think Donald Trump's out of touch and their generation did things differently than the current generation. And now they have to answer to that. I do but don't you think don't you think a lot of the middle again? This isn't really a big issue for them. You know, I think in the middle of the country. Joe Biden, I think that he thinks anytime he's lying his positive woman that she's digging it. I think if he really thinks that she's very much at least comforted by it. Right. Illsley different cat. Do any of that? In in been public knows his was pure transactional. Sure. Yeah. Glen, gray area. Want your job? But would you like a promotion? Well, here's what exactly yeah. That's kind of. It's just a it's going to be interesting to see if he decides at some point not to run and just say, I. Well, it is the other thing that's interesting about this. And there was a discussion about it on CNN this morning and the guy who is for me. The most interesting was near times guy who clearly has been talking to Biden's campaign. Right. That doesn't exist yet. But does exist. He's saying that some of them think he's not doing enough in terms of getting out in front of this. And then there's people like I mean, this is why are interviewing Larry Rask is actually really informative when it comes to this sort of stuff. Larry Rask already felt like he was apologizing too much. Now. I mean, I would say in terms of taking the temperature of the primary that Larry raspy is Ron, unfortunately, I mean, you might bristle at this. Because it's as like, it's whatever I clearly Larry rescue bristles at it. But I think that considering what's going on and the and the temperature in general, I think there's gotta be a way I'm not saying he asked to lie. Like, apologize it over and over and over. I think that there's a medium here or something that can be done where it says, you know, what I like relook at sorta how do things, and I don't think that that's like the worst thing in the world to do. I don't think that that means things are over for him. I think that you can come out and admit like, wow, I guess I didn't always realize the impact here. And I agree. I'm gonna reexamine and forward is this the worst that he's done? I would believe so, but we don't know how many times we're going to hear about this from different people. You know, this is different than say he had a sexual abuse scandal or though, you could paint it as being a little bit too. Hansie is is is not a cool thing to do anymore. But there's no scandal in terms of cheated on his wife or he's done anything like that. So. You know, it's a it's a different. That's why every verb than that..

"No good somewhere. Well, Boston Herald reporter is aware. The Boston Herald. We're back. We're back. Okay. I didn't realize we're back. Sorry about that. Sorry for the delay. Joe? Batten value, your host, the fat and feld. We're talking about politics. We talk about the presidential race six one seven two eight six five six three three is our text line. If you want to join the conversation, or if you have a question or comment, six one seven two eight six five six three three President Trump right now is holding a little news conference talking about the government shutdown saying, I don't think we're going to apparently saying I don't think we're going to have a shut down. But I'm I'm not sure exactly what. What his comments are. But it looks like you might be offering to support the compromise deal that the Republicans and Democrats put on the table for border wall fencing and border security, but an appropriations, but we'll see we'll see what happens six seven to eight six five six three three. Again is our text lines away to join the conversation. He did mention your questions respond to your comments. He did mention says Warren has no shot. I'm surprised she even announced. Assume that's because of her. The new revelations about her signing up as an American Indian for all those years. I mean, I just I just think it's going to be tough for candidate. For president. For candidate for president. To come out and admit, I claim to be a minority you're white. Okay. She knows she's white. She claimed to be a minority for at least ten years or more than that. How can you possibly? Run for president and be be elected president with that in your background line about your s city. I don't I don't I don't get it. I don't see how that's going to happen. I think people will reject that. And so I think she's going to have a really hard time before people knew that she. Had at least signed up as a minority that she was listed in law school directories as a minority, but and was listed in Harvard as Harvard University as minority as late as nineteen Ninety-six. But. You know, the big thing is now she's saying she didn't try to get any unfair advantage over. Well, why are you doing it in the first place? Why would you possibly claim to be a minority other than to use it for your advantage into use? It not just for your advantage. But for the university's advantage. Don't forget in the nineteen eighties early nineties. These universities were under a water pressure to hire minorities. They were to diversify and so- Harvard. I'm sure it was thrilled to have an American Indian professor law professor in their in their Harvard Law School anyway, it was thrilled to have a minority professor in their ranks. So that's why she was that's why it helped her. And of course, it took away the spot from somebody else from an actual minority who they could have hired instead. So she was taking somebody's spot for that. I don't see how you can reconcile that and be elected president. And I just don't see lying about your identity of of all things three three nights as you're right. Joe? She can't she is running for nothing. She is running though. I mean, she's got a platform. She's got a lot of money. She's got name recognition all over the country. So she's going going to be. Force in the race. And at least get some votes. I think, but I don't I don't see her breaking out of the pack because there's so many so many candidates like her now, it's not like she's not like four years ago where people were trying to get her to run against Hillary Clinton that would have been doable. I think if she just had one opponent, and she was like the new thing in the new liberal, darling. That's the time. But she's no longer the liberal, darling. She wants was it people are even starting to question her because of her claims of minority status. I think. A lot of Democrats are even starting to say, hey, we can't we can't nominate somebody like this who claims to be a minor who is claimed to be a minority. We just can't we can't we can't take a chance on them losing to Donald Trump. They they won't nominate anybody who has. I think before this race is through by the time we another year passes around and it's the New Hampshire. Primary the New Hampshire. Primary a year away. I think we're going to be seen revelations about a lot of these candidates that kind of ruined their chances because anything in your background that's viewed as too much baggage. They're going to be people are going to be shying away from those candidates because they want somebody with a clean shot at President Trump who doesn't have baggage and their background. Who chose the liberal line? But maybe is moderate enough to draw in votes from independents that would be important to you can't just win. Driving liberal democratic votes. You've got to expand beyond that. Obviously, you're not going to win the White House just by being the strongest liberal in the rates. So I think that's what Democrats have to reconcile. They look like they're already shooting themselves in the foot left. And right. I did a call about this today. The party imploding right on cue. Ardi imploding, right on cue. At a time when Democrats should be crowing there imploding, the party infamous for its internal. Squabbles is now in full damage control after one of its own was accused of spreading anti semitic falsehoods. While top leaders in Virginia are fending off allegations of racism, and sexual assault is crazy in Virginia. I would love to be a reporter in Virginia right now, they don't even know who's the governor is going to be it could be like the fourth person in line because the attorney general apparently was like third person in line. The Senate majority leader Bill. No, it's the speaker of the house. I can't think your headphones are dead. I think it's your headphones. Do. I think it's your head for. I don't think these are working. I think you have bad head boss. You may want to try another pair of headphones. I don't know if you are. Describe another pair. If you grab another perfect volunteer. We can try those having technical difficulties. I don't know if you may be ripped hiking here. Oh, that's I don't know. Maybe you maybe they came undone when you got up before, but it's very possible. Couldn't hear you. You hear you can hear anything. Yeah. You could hear the music that makes sense. Yeah. It isn't hooked. I can see the cord on the floor. So. About what was I saying? I forget even what we're talking about. In in Virginia Virginia. The fourth person line. And this is the only saving grace to Northam is the speaker of the house and the speaker of the House Republican. So if it goes to speak with the house that's gonna flip from democrat Republican so north of maybe saved only because the fourth person is a Republican, right? Right. So in the Lieutenant governor, but Lieutenant governor I think is even the north north of is calling for him to resign. Right. It's gone. Everybody's calling for him to resign. Lieutenant governor to resign because it's his worse because of Kavanagh that's why because they all came out when when Christine Blasi for came out and made those accusations about cavenaugh sexual assault. And every democrat the world said, I believe her I believe her I believe her well to people have come out in named themselves publicly have come out which takes a lot of guts. I think to come out and put your name out there and accusing and these are people like law professors, they're not like, you know, just schmos if who came out of the woodwork. They're like real serious people. And then over the weekend was aired on mistake on CBS this morning. He was on with Gail northern said something about like indentured servants. Indentured servants used instead of slave del king still slits. Him. Oh, yeah. Why would he say that? I don't know. He he's not gonna Mike even when he's when the when the the the reporter tried to get into the moonwalk yell most. Luckily, say maybe not Rini slut to that not appropriate. We need candidates like that. What is the white takeover? I don't know. And I know in the report that would have been awesome. If the report actually got him to walk. Oh, yeah. Like, you know, like he's going by. If you could tell it was like, what was look like. Yeah. I know obviously Donald Trump last night at the rallies making fun of him for almost at the moon. Walk right. Like, it's just I don't know. But this one saving grace McGuinness. House houses the fourth in line, and he's a Republican. So I used to do the moonwalk, but I never I never wore black. They never considered it. I don't think this up a problem. Everybody did at the time. Michael Jackson was big and the one thousand nine hundred eighty s I don't think he has a problem with the moonwalk. It's the fact that well he was wearing black. Yeah. So yeah. And then obviously, the the attorney general too. So I don't know. I don't know what's going on in Virginia. But it's not good. But northern looks okay. For now apparently to we were talking about fifty eight percent of the black voters Virginia. Don't want him to resign. I think that's him in black face because I think it looks like him, of course, in the picture. Yeah. Course, there's no he he's not the hood back. They say he admitted to it. And then came back and said, well, I don't know yet. I don't know. Yeah. Not that time. But the fact how would you even be unsure about that? I don't think it's something you forget no now ignore the edibles in the waste KKK guy at a picture in my yearbook. Like, he obviously knows this is yearbook and seeing the photo many times and his nothing. Maybe maybe just not thinking back then. But why would you want your picture taken like that? Would you want a black face photo of you? Anyway, especially like in the yearbook, I don't know. Glad julia. Smiley. Black-faced guy was fine. And maybe they finally put somebody has to someone that put the yearbook together. Right. Okay. Let's put that in there. Let's put it in. That's that's approved. It's virginia. Well, it's all I can say and again as I said like we were talking about yesterday fifty percent of the vote the black vote in Virginia still wants to do. I know which is crazy. So I just don't Republican because they know the fourth person like that's what it is. I wonder if they'll if the Lieutenant governor does resign can he appoint another Lieutenant governor. And then I don't know what the lies in Virginia. And they've they kick him up for the new Lieutenant governor. He probably wouldn't like it Massachusetts. Anybody governor believes? Yeah. There's just no lieutenants appointing. Yeah. Nothing else or it could point the worst. I Republican or something like that. And then he says he also told something about like because he's doctor. Why is he doing interviews? He'll king. But he's saying he's a doctor. We need some that can heal. That was one of the things. He's like what does your field? State. I don't know how he became governor in the first place. This guy does not seem like no, I think his wife should take over. But he's like a neurosurgeon. No duct. He's very book. Smart. Just not smart street smart. Yeah. Obviously, obviously, he's taking these pictures and saying the things he saying, no he doesn't seem to get it. Six one seven two eight six five six three three seven eight one says Dem's are killing themselves going to the left makes Trump look good. That's what Jacqueline Cashman had a call came up with a call today, noting that Trump's approval rating at least in the Rasmussen reports which. Is controversial because Democrats claim Rasmussen favors Republicans all the time. But I do interviews with Rasmussen all the time, and we used to have them as a pollster when I worked at Fox News here we had Rasmussen. Pollster they weren't that far off? It wasn't like they were crazy Republican they just use different methods. I a little different methods than the other pollsters. Do they use only use a tight screen for only likely voters? And so that can cause they're polls the differ a little bit from the other pollsters, but you know, Jacqueline Cashman noting that Trump's approval rating hit fifty two percent among likely voters his highest since March twenty seventeen right after he took office. Some are attributing the bump to state of the union address. But I don't think that's the case people have already forgotten about the state of the union address. That's ancient history state of the union. I don't think really did anything. So maybe her theory is that it's the Democrats that are causing drifting so far to the left that it's caused the Trump's approval rating to grow up because he seems like sane next to some of these Democrats and the green new deal. Yeah. I think it's gonna be hard. If the Democrats pick someone like Warren, I don't think they're going to pick war. Kamala Harris who I thought had some good background..

"My husband, Bruce. I didn't notice you there. So this is my sweetie. I'm glad you're here. One of the things that that Tom. We had to decide was when did do this. I never thought it was going to run for politics in kind of elected office. Here's to twenty nine thousand nine hundred changing you happy new year. I don't know. It was a very, you know, what it reminds me of member not quite from last week. Right where oh my God. Seriously. There was sort of prototype of a person in this very. Looking very learned in there smoking jacket with a pipe and reading a book, but they're standing, and they're very it's a very polished set. And then the camera would be on them, and they appear as though they suddenly oh, well, Hello, right? I didn't notice you there. Why don't you take a look at my fine. It would launch into some sort of thing that was sort of how that struck me. And this wasn't a surprise. Was it now? No. I mean. Yeah. And so here's my husband. Not a good actress, right, right? Goes back to that point. Yes, thing and acting. Here's my sweetie. Jerry is. I'm gonna get me a beer hold on a second. I'm gonna get me. For now. Oh my God. This would have been better if she was just like hammered doing this. Beers. And just just unload just on mode, which I think she has the ability to do not necessarily drink fourteen beers. I think she's not afraid to ratchet it up. That's why. I mean, if she's ever the nominee could you picture, a Trump Elizabeth Warren and twenty twenty that would that would be must watch TV because she's not one to back down. Yeah. She's not exactly one to calm things down. She gets a bit frantic herself. But yeah, do that. While after you've you've down twelve fourteen beers. I think that would have been more authentic eight as Christian just sort of highlighted, those clips seem so fraught more nervous or something. I'm going to get me. Jacqueline Cashman is here to chat with us. And we are thrilled. Happy new year, Jacqueline happy birthday. Thank you happy new year to you too. I guess you jar. I know I miss you too. And I have to say this recent New Year's sort of break, or at least over the holiday was very Jacqueline nostalgic. Time for me for some reason. And as you saw, and I have incredible Santi story that I'm going to relate later, but I also can't wait to hear. Oh my God. It's crazy Jacqueline. It's very odd. And you're gonna it is worthy of the build up. I'm giving it and this morning I came in. And we're in this new studio set up, and I said, I turn to John. And I was I actually had the words in my mouth in my head about. Doing something to that bad. Boy. Right. Which is basically how your recipes? Go, and I was like I want Jacqueline's like seventy point recipe. That's always really easy. Yeah. It's very easy. So that was that was just a random like Donna had this morning. Course, you're on the front page of the Boston Herald talking about this clip that we were just playing talk a little bit about this, Jack and Cashman. Funny yesterday to call me, and he said are you seeing? This video with red hat. You're not a joke. I many occasions that. We kind of see her as a white wine drinking Dow I of feel like a very oaky Chardonnays type of a person personally. Not so much the buttery, right? No, no, no, no. She does not go for a buttery Chardonnay. Grab a beer. So. Authentic to who. She is. She's tried to be relatable. And whenever you tried to be something that you're not people. See it. Yeah. The public feels it and it just it just it works against her in such a way. Soda and even her husband couldn't play along. He was like, no I'm all set for now. Probably probably twenty your. A weird dynamic 'cause he couldn't even play around. Nobody nobody that they brought in a approx. Here. It's like it is like Martha Coakley in that sense. Remember, she's like, what do people having a barbecue little charcoal? I have to shake people's hands and a Red Sox game. Yeah. No exactly I mean. And so when you do that you go. Warrant because she can drink a beer people are gonna vote for her because they believe in our policies, and she's forgetting that. And I think that her aides are reading restrain the same way for Hillary Clinton. Didn't know what she's allowed to do. Or even though we've been around for forever. We still don't know the real Hillary Clinton because her eighth of never allowed her to just go off the kospi natural house. Hillary. I was you recall Hillary John received without in when she was out in Iowa. She did all those like court sit down. Set off with people that were actually working for the campaign. I mean, allow Democrats authentic moments for Email and you'll sexist to me because this doesn't happen as much for men. It seems as though you have your democratic strategists tell women how they're supposed to be. Whereas don't seem to get that same sort of push back from their aid. I guess I would say that Mitt Romney is pretty a pretty good, you know, sort of point towards the opposite. He was consulted to high hack and you saw him in the documentary afterwards. He actually seemed pretty cool, and you know, but yet somehow on the campaign trail, he didn't come across that way. The other thing I was thinking that's a very good point. That's a very that's a very good point. Who is you know, even if this is how she really is. I don't think she's very good at selling herself as an average everyday person. Even if she's telling the truth, which is an odd very odd place to be. So it's just it is a very strange thing. I don't know how she's going to handle it going forward. Sap? You wanted to what kind of beer did she drink? I can't really tell. Yeah. I mean, it's funny. I actually Google. Cuco more white bread. My research for the column. Yeah. And I pulled up at twenty fifteen story about Elizabeth Warren and telling somebody love beer, and she was at themselves off believe at some pob and said, oh, I like I like this. I like parallel your. Like all natural. She's trying to push for a while. Working twenty fifteen. It's not gonna work in twenty nineteen. You can like fear privately, but the world thinks you like white wines. The just go with it is true. It's like, even if it's true, somehow, she can't sell it. Which is. Yeah. Very odd. A certain time Shattuck has joined us Jacqueline. JP kid. What's up? Hi. Happy birthday. That was really nice of you. Happy birthday. I know you don't like to be reminded happy twenty eighth. Right. And that's what we do every year. Well, I'm taking you out actually Jacqueline for lunch, and we'll make the carriage exchange, but you're gonna have to come here because my car broke I Swedish automobile Tom considers himself very fancy now because you've got a Volvo. So he's and he's moved to west Newbury. So he's very fancy, but unfortunately, no going. All right. Yes. Newbury mom, I knew very well. Jack Lemmon we've always known this. How many Jekyll dummies if you said what did she say? I'm gonna I'm gonna get me a beer if you said the Trevor. You know, what I'm gonna get me a beer right now. What would he say? He would tell me that you've found. He wouldn't even what to say because it just wouldn't happen. Right. It's like, well, I hope for wrong with you just get a beer don't get. Why why are you telling you this exactly is that code are? We gonna have sex. And what does that mean that you have to declare that? You know, what I'm gonna get me a beer, I'm gonna get me. Well, just go have a beer beer or just get a drink. But now, we know to be there was I have to build this up because it's such a big deal. Nobody expects me to have a beer already fashioning a news in the back room. Oh god. Don't bring me this. On the beer. It's only news if Mitt Romney, but oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Great news. But also Jacqueline if you notice the bottle is like it's too high end kind of bottle. But it's a twist off was really unsure unsure it's I'm sure it's not exactly. Shirts from some special distillery bridge that only made with organic coffee. It's from their seven orders or something like that over there. And she didn't. Thing about it is there. So obviously, sixty eight people in assistance on the other side of that camera. Phone whatever, it is this used to make sure the from these nice and loose machine. He would just take very natural is just take a sip. That's fine. Just be you. I also want. Also that always always shocks me that Scott Brown lost Warren because God bounds. The cool guy the athletic guy that built drink beer. Yes. Chill. Oh, God he wanted to down and have a beer with. But somehow she was able to beat him in the election. And that I'd always kind of think about that. Because he is authentic. He's I mean, he could've takes it overboard with like this. Oh, hey, Howdy. I'm gonna go do thrill. The dryer. Like, you know, he kinda takes it. He took it too far Inc. When he was up in your Hampshire running. Yeah. Go ahead. I just wanna say that he was the guy, and then he self I think on impromptu trouble with the taken who he was. And and like kind of putting it on steroids actually hurt him in New Hampshire. I know that's kind of an aside. But it brings me back to like how did we end up with war? Campaign. I it's so interesting. I mean, certainly, Massachusetts Democrats aligned and realized I think or decided or anointed Elizabeth Warren as the next up and comer, you know, I think that's what happened and. But I don't know why they're voting public of Massachusetts. Presidential election in two thousand twelve so you're absolutely right. That definitely helped there again, the unions were behind her and not necessarily in all parts of the state, but in many parts of the state where a lot of people live. She is very popular. I don't I I don't get. She's better much like a lot of politicians. She's better than she is on TV, all of this taking me crazy. Right. Turn on TV. Just not in her beer thing was dumb. And I don't think they'll ever try that doesn't come off right now. Nothing. Just don't and also it's so pandering, listen, we need to attract some dumb people is time around. Know, we know that they drink beer YM, still light. That's the. The first I thought it was Amstel light because of the color of the bottle, then, but whether it was if it was, you know, a craft brew from Cambridge a Lexington or whatever. Why do that then then just get a can of Budweiser snap open? The that's where the five hundred people come in the want to go too far. Wanna lose our base in Somerville or wherever else, but you know, bud and Bud Light still remain. I think the two most popular beers in the country. But it's still well he can't be buds. But you were saying I mean it works on you. Did you say with a straight face and she's a SOX fan? I'll me. Absolutely. She is she broke down. Absolutely. She talked to her in two thousand eleven she was at the Labor Day breakfast. She was on the air with us at fifteen ten and for about ten fifteen minutes. She she talked about the Red Sox. And she said that they were going to fall apart in September two thousand eleven she didn't like the team didn't like the makeup of the team bought it hook line and singer. I have I know. Cannons was part of her campaign. Then I think there was authentic who's Red Sox fan knows that it's about the wave. A young lady who made sure that the people around her new walkabout delay. Point point this. I'm gonna push back on you sat because as an example, I was talking to my occupation huge patriots fan and the patriots. I work on that just the game. It was coming up the Sunday before Christmas like if they won that game. Other teams did that then they could still clinch the offers earning vision or whatever. But I had like twenty minutes talking. We're not morning and she. Solved. Everything like for high body shouldn't stay with me ever..
