"Off season. And if he gets an offer, it comes in the range of somebody like Christian Kirk. Are you the Patriots willing to extend a 16 or $18 million per year for a player in Jacoby Myers who is a very solid player. But he is not a true alpha, wide receiver one is going to consistently post 1200 receiving yards in a season. So I think the Patriots plans are, of course, they want to have Jacoby Meyers back, but if the market speaks to a level that they can't get to, then I think Jacoby Myers could be another player on the move this up. Well, I loved Jacoby Meyers and you baby face. I don't agree that he's the best version why receiver available. That is OBJ. And if you're New England, don't waste another year. You wasted last year with the decision of offensive coordinator and Bill O'Brien there now. Don't waste no, this is a massive year for Mac Jones. And just let's keep it honest about the AHC. We talk about their quarterbacks all the time. They got dudes at wide receiver in that conference. Leonard division. Miami's got two. Buffalo's got one. Cincinnati's got like 7. The Chargers got a guide. The Raiders have a guy. New England doesn't have anybody, and they can't think that they could be this New England of password. They just kind of plugged and played guys because they had the greatest quarterback of all time while he also had Rob Gronkowski. They need to go get a bonafide number one past catching production guy. I don't care if we're going to name them number one receiver or not, but I love the fact of or love the thought of adding OBJ to Mac Jones third year. It's so hard with New England because this is a team that since Julian Edelman retired has just been struggling so much to find an answer at his position in a number of different ways. You had trades like for devonta Parker, that free agency signing. You remember when they made a huge splash signing and Nelson Aguilar, hunter Henry John Smith didn't really work out. They got a course message judon and that spending spree and then of course their struggles in the draft are well documented. As far as which of those routes they'll take, I kind of think they're going to stay away from the draft. This is in a particularly strong wide receiver class and that is an area that they've struggled with. There are other needs. So then you fall us to free agency or a trade option. Dan, if OBJ is old OBJ, it's a slam dunk. Right. We just don't know. You could say the same about Michael Thomas, frankly, who has maybe more upside than anyone had receiver in this class, so we haven't seen play at a high level in some time now. I wouldn't rule them out as a trade option. When you look at guys like Deandre Hopkins or even, I don't know, Brandon cooks for reunion, but I agree with you that they're going to have to take a risk because there really aren't a lot of good options. Yeah, I'm glad Mena mentioned the health with OBJ because I don't know that any of us know exactly where he's at physically, but one thing I do believe in Dan made this point is that I think the Patriots need to be big game hunting this off season. One thing the team has done extremely well under Bill Belichick for 22 years is find players that might be average elsewhere, make them really good players or at least above average players. They can get by, especially on defense with guys that may not start elsewhere that play really well for them. On offense, again, Jacoby Meyers are really solid player. You need a difference maker though and whether that player is Deandre Hopkins or one of these guys that could be available. This off season via trade. That's where I think the Patriots roster is lacking right now. Blue chip players that are Pro Bowl or all pro, or top 100 level type athletes. And it's not only for me guys like New England getting back to the playoffs. This is an enormous season for Mac Jones. Because of the maybe the conversation around him off of last year and his him not playing well again, offensive coordinator wise. And being his third year and they're going to have to make a decision. I want to see them get OBJ. I'd love for them to keep Jacobi and if they don't, I want them to get Mike Kasich. Could you imagine this offense back Jones with OBJ and then Mike esakia tight end to free agent from Miami? Now we're talking about really evaluating Mac Jones and seeing if he's the guy for the future. You know, it's different situations and different teams. I get it different quarterbacks, but it does make you think about what happens like what they did with the eagles and Jalen hurts surrounding a quarterback who is in a prove it year with some really good weapons and then look how that can potentially work out. Coming up next on the show. Which quarterback will Carolina plan to build their team around? Someone here is even saying with the right guy at the helm, the Panthers are divisional winners. We'll tell you more next on

"Let's put this way, right? So let's say somebody tries to match Myers. You can either pay essentially a Jacoby Meyers a year early, or you can get started with one Dale Robinson, right? He's going to be a second round pick. He's probably going to go about where that pick would come in. Right. I wonder if they and teams generally haven't been super into signing RFAs in recent years, but I mean, Jacoby is a thousand yard guy. Yeah, he's like 9, whatever last. Right. I would be interested to see what would happen if somebody tried to offer Jacobi an RFA contract. I wonder if the Patriots wouldn't match it. I really do. Yeah. I think I've already given my Jacob Meyers take the biggest thing that I have concerns with what you call a Myers is that he doesn't do anything after the catch, right? He's a guy that can get open. I wish he got open or got into his rad a little bit faster sometimes. I think that's something that isn't necessarily due to a lack of explosiveness, but more so, just the timing thing that maybe they can continue to work on with him. But what I don't think that he can improve on significantly more than what he already has is his ability to pick up yards after the catch. And that's an element of their offense that they meet. They need that slot receiver, especially a guy that's gonna be as high volume as what they do with dad Jacoby Myers, they need him to be able to pick up yeah, if Jacob Myers is better in yak, we had been way over a thousand yards last year, right? I mean, that's the issue that we have here is that there's no real explosiveness to his ball carrying skills. Like there's no real next gear. Once he gets into the open field and I think that they need that player in that role to have that. I don't know if they can be as good of an offense as they want to be if their Z or their slot receiver is not somebody like Edelman or brown or Welker after the catch as just an explosive guy in the open field. It's a tough role to be able to produce that because it's going to produce such a low yards per catch average anyways because you're running crossers slant in breakers, option routes, things like that. You're not going to put up 17 yards per catch running the juke series with the Patriots. So you got to add even every three, four, 5 extra yards that you do per catch is important, even if it's not taking a three step slant and turning it into an 80 yard touchdown, taking a three step slant and turning it into a 16 yard gain instead of it being an 11 yard gain is really something that this patriots offense needs. Yeah, yeah, I mean, that's what it comes down to and look, I think there's still a role for Jacoby on the team. But if you can get a better player if we went on from him, means he can get a better player. I mean, that's for oster building. That's what you do. That's the whole essence of it. All right. Okay, this person said his name three times. So I do want to talk about Jamie. For a second,.

"Of the four field goals from nick foles today. Thirty eight yard or the time making sixteen fourteen new england and the eventual patriots win over the chargers. This season as part of their apex cares program apex entertainment donating one hundred dollars to the new england center for children for every converted field. Goal every point. Every dollar helps for more information go to apex. Entertainment dot com. Like i said nick folk today Four for four with the field goals he has been nails for this team For two straight seasons now. This is the shaw's patriot post game. Show final segment here with gregg. Artem boston sports journal. It's jim murray. Joel murray and if join us as well six one. Seven seven zero nine zero ninety eight five but Greg jones got a question about Well a big day coming up in the nfl and whether or not the patriots going to be involved here next couple of days. I know you guys brought some names on them as this week. And you just mentioned maybe tr. If brown ever comes back left tackle. That could be a whole right. There filled If they were to be active at the deadline what positions do you think that they would look at. There's only two spots and first of all nick folk chris. Gaspar is going to be insufferable this week with another four field goals from nick folk me. I am the obligate. Yeah i think he's contractually obligated to say he's second best player on the patriots like every week but anyways trade deadline. There's only really two spots that. I think they need to address earliest. Look to address and that Slot receiver if they can find one a speedy slot receiver Somebody who can catch the ball and get open quickly and give jones something quickly because you know one thing that is starting to get on my nerves in happen again today. Like on hunter. When mack jones hit hunter henry in the legs today This is now the second straight week. I think it's second. The other one was jacoby. Myers play might have been last week or the week before. But here's mack jones under pressure free runners. And one time. I was jacoby meyers. This time was hunter. Henry were. These guys are going out in their past pattern. Like they're they're playing street ball football where they're like they're setting up their move and then the do and head fakes and things like that. Meanwhile mack jones is about to get his head ripped off like can somebody get into their route quickly and get open instead of you know trying to to act their way you know. Pass the cornerback in and so that's starting to get on my nerves look. They don't have speedy slot receiver they just don't and we know how important that is in this offense. That's something i would be looking for any isabella from. Umass with the cardinals. He i don't think he's played one. Snap on offense this year with the cardinals. He's behind the rookie. Rondell more is never gonna play. There might be cheap He was a pretty high draft. Pick though so that would be one guy. I would look at And to me if you can find some sort of professional cornerback to add to the mix. That's fine but here's the thing guys. If they add cornerback we already know how bad the stefan gilmore trade looks already in the whole situation for the past year would stuff on That led to that. I mean they can't go and trade for cornerback and give up more than what they got the six round pick and so what are we talking about here. So i don't really i tackle. They're not gonna find a tackle. They have like eight billion on the roster. They gotta figure it out and and outside of that I think they're good. Were they are. I don't want sean jackson. He's redundant to nelson galore. I don't want anything like that The patriots could have signed sean jackson for cheaper than nelson anglo. They picked aguilar. It's only halfway through the season. They're still figuring things out so to me slot receiver. A cornerback would be on my list. Would they give up any capital And i'll just draw a name. Would sean jackson ever be an interest for the team. When host aren't listening. Unless i just said the wrong name but despite jackson's i was just avid okay. Yeah i was going to be. It's okay. I know i do not. I do not think he i do not think he is a candidate for them They could have signed him in the off. Season didn't to me. He's redundant to galore. They play the same spot. Now what's the trickle down effect. Do you move adler to the other side. Where does that do born was that dude myers. I just don't see it The patriots are using while they've gotten their mojo back here. The us in a lot of yaacob johnson in the backfield too tight ends Going multiple wide receivers on the field. And so i. I don't really see that as a fit. It's not as icy. Or at least i'd like to think it's not between the jets and the patriots anymore. I mean they did trade to marry his thomas to him a few years ago. Do you think there's any way they could find a willing partner with them and try to get jamison crowder. Maybe bring braxton berrios back Yeah it's possible. But i don't eat a lot of times jim when actually all the time when the patriots looked to make a deal like this they they need to way. Look it is. Is it an upgrade. Well not only that. But is the guy. Really upgrade is brexit derrius and upgrade over gonul chefs and stuff. Ski is like the fifth wide receiver to me is not but maybe the patriots phil differently. I mean crowder would be guy that i would be interested again. But you're again it's to me it's you atagi. And now there's a trickle down effect and how does that affect things You know if anybody. I love jacoby myers. But they really need speedy slot receivers. That would help. Mac jones immensely but i think the patriots made their decision in terms of that one and decided to go with two tight ends. I think have hunter. Henry wasn't available after they signed. Johnny smith maybe they would have gone that route maybe they would have added another receiver. But they're paying both those guys twelve and a half million dollars. That's the identity of their offense not multiple wide. Receivers matt enact in your next here on the shah's patriots postgame show greg bernarda boston sports journal. Go ahead matt so I was thinking can usually be asking like where the play was in a game disclosing tough like silly as it sounds i gotta ask what is the lack of trick plays especially you know in mac with struggling like mean about our offense and seriously like why do we run these plays against the jets and the like and not against the bolts that we need just to kind of figure out took place. I can't get any. Thanks man. Greg good question matt i think a couple things are play I think you know when you do call some trick. Plays you look at the opponent. You think there's a have a high level of comfort that they're going to be successful. And i think when you look at the jets you don't see many guys who are going to blow up place whereas with the chargers from bosa too you know because you're white at linebacker you might not be the greatest run linebacker but the dude can fly derwin james those type of guys. You look at guys like if we're not on point it could get really ugly so i think i think that a lot of confidence doing jets it puts it on film for other teams to think about at least prepare a little bit more. I think that was part of it. And i think the reason why they didn't do any of that tonight against the chargers was because i think the patriots realized they push the chargers around a little bit more that they that they could out physical them and be mentally tougher and i think the the end result really proved them right on that that front all right. We'll be joining a. You'll be joining in for a while now. Not so big boy. Big boy tuesday as you're on Awaken whiny weight loss. But a big one though for For all of us because it is the nfl trade deadline on tuesday afternoon. So we will talk to you at two pm on ninety eight five of sports on tuesday. Yay want all sorts of good audio.

"And that's where this Dallas Cowboys defense is vulnerable. And whether he plays or not, I'm not expecting Mac Jones to throw the ball deep all that much on this cowboy's defense regardless of if Trayvon Diggs is out there because that's how you turn the football over a lot on Sunday if you start to try to air it out against these guys. So it's interesting to hear you say that. Because the I think I said on Tuesday, right, when the ball's in the air in Dallas is playing in the game, something big is going to happen. If they're throwing the ball, it's probably a big play. If they're on defense, they lead the league in interceptions, thanks to Trayvon digs, obviously it was 6. Right. But they're also 31st in opponent passing yards per game. So a lot of that though is coming in garbage time. I saw that. But you know, well, dah has been up in a lot of games, right? So a lot of that is teams trying to come back against the cowboys. So all I had to, it's not just volume. They're 21st in yards per attempt. Against a game. So, you know, part of part of that garbage time right is you're just sitting back and you're allowing everything underneath. Teams are still able to, again, the yards per temp still up there. It's 21st. It's not asthma. It's a boomer bus defense in the past defense. Yes. Look, should they come out and try to be like the O 7 patriots? It huck the ball down the field all day, no, 'cause like you said, that's how you turn the ball over. I think, especially if there's no Trayvon today, 'cause I don't really love Dallas's corners behind Diggs. Remember, there's a reason we were talking all off season about how they were the ones they were the one team that kept coming up there, but he thought the Patriots are going to trade Gilmore, right? I think you're leaving you're leaving potential on the table if you don't at least take a couple shots. I think again, you shouldn't do it every play but I'd like to just on the first drive. Just see out goes, just on the first drive, if you look, it's been tough enough for them to get a second in one or second and two. But if you can get one of those kinds of situations, I think you gotta keep them on us. I think you gotta take some shots because I think the opportunities will be there if you structure them correctly. So Jordan Lewis is their nickel backer and the slot. He's a good player. Not exactly a guy that you're going to target deep anyway. It's not like you're throwing a Jacoby Meyers 60 yards down the field. If Trayvon digs doesn't play, I don't hate testing those guys down there. But I really do feel like watching them on tape looking at the numbers that their weakness is certainly in the middle of the field at the intermediate level. These linebackers, Michael Parsons, really great pass rusher struggling so far in his rookie season in coverage, which is what you would expect for a guy..

"What I try to do when I watch this game back for a second time and the coaches film and it's coming through is something that I think is really important for this offense now. And that is, what are they good at? From a passing standpoint, what are the three or four concepts that they're able to run that they can successfully run right now? And this is one of them that I thought we've been ragging on Josh McDaniels a whole lot on the program, Alex, so I wanted to bring up this play because I thought that this so far is Josh McDaniels best design of a play that I've seen the Patriots run. So this is the double post concept that we saw last week with a twist. So instead of this only being a two receiver route combination, they're going to add this route here at the top of the screen from Jacoby Meyers. So you're going to have Nelson Aguilar on this deep post route. I want to cut you off here real quick because there are some breaking news is pretty relevant. Oh, okay. Lines have released Jamie Collins. The Lions. We get into that later in the show, but do you want to get into it now? And deliver our breaking news once again. Yeah. So yeah, again, this is per Tom hello sorrow. The lions have released Jamie Collins. It's time. It's time. Let's go, Bill. Make the call. So we can talk about this a little bit more in detail later, but based off of the usage for Dante Hightower last week and the fact that they took him off the field with jelani Dubai and going getting some of that run there late in the game. And then also hearing from Belichick yesterday that dewan Bentley suffered an injury in that game yesterday. On Sunday, I mean, and that's part of the reason why I didn't play as much down the stretch. This is going to be interesting to see, right? I mean, this has to, there has to be some serious consideration. But let's talk about the defense here in a little bit. I want to you can finish the play. I just wanted to that seems like somewhat of a big deal. Yes. Within everything. So let's get back to the play here. So I want to roll it just a little bit more just so we can get this motion out of there. Okay, so Jacoby is going to come in motion here and what they're going to do like I said is they're going to have this deposed concept here a over route by Kendrick born there, and then Jacoby is going to run across her in the opposite direction. So you're basically putting these safeties in total conflict at this point, right? You can't help to everybody. If you're a safety, and somebody is going to be open in this concept and the other thing that I really love about it is everybody, when I say everybody, the three wide receivers in the route are in the right spots..

"To cook a chicken. Tell the thing you have the cooks of chicken dies and then you can go out and buy something else. So I've been careful to not load up the kitchen with gadgets because good How long does it usually take to do a rotisserie? But what cooking a chicken? Yeah. Uh, God, I got to remember. I do have this. By the way. I still have the original cookbook that came with it. The two hour and a half, two hours And I'm not not even now in the rotisserie. Perfect. So tomorrow night. You can go to the broken a chick. Go get a chicken. Yeah. Join the fantasy league. Set your chicken up by the time by the time it's done, your fancy drive should be over. This is fantastic. I was thinking what I could do. If I was hosting the show tomorrow night. I could bring the rotisserie of it in And a chicken and by the time the first hours over We? We'd have rotisserie chicken, and we could share with the listeners What it's doing, You know, that would have been fun. Well, not really. Not really of Rob Brooks. Is it once in Rob, this is only if I do that. If you can call and talk Jordan out of doing the show tomorrow night, we can talk about chicken otherwise. At the pre made one is a supermarket anyway. Can we get back? Wait, We got sidetracked. Fantasy football. You are in a league. I'm in multiple You are in a league of your own true, you unders. No crying in fantasy football either. What's alright? What? What's your drug? Okay, so you're in multiple leagues. What's your draw to being in like all these leagues? Why not just one and done Well, I mean, there's different, different formats, different types. There's all different kind of things. So you know, there's there's your basic year to year ones that you get a new team Every every year. You re draft. There's dynasties where you keep this all the entire team next. The next the following year and so on, And you just dropped the rookies, and there's the keeper leagues where you might just take one or two guys very in depth. This very in depth. When I did the fantasy football 20 years ago or so, everything's 20 years ago, my rotisserie oven my fantasy leagues. When I used to be in the fantasies. It wasn't that complex. It was like Done, Boom. Here you go. Now, People do it also win. Now people do this for work. You got the daily fantasy stuff where people make thousands and thousands of dollars. Some of the experts so called experts and all that kind of stuff, the podcast and everything used to be a time when you just sit down and watch the football game. Shut it off at the end and go have dinner. Well, who does that? Well enough now, you now you've watched the game. Watch your fantasy team dinner all at the same time. Check your stats. Text. Your friend was in the fantasy league with you and make fun of them because they're teams doing terrible talk a little snack. I get it. All right. So football season is just about to start officially, The Patriots start on Sunday against the Dolphins. Mac Jones. You got Mac Jones on your team. I do not. I stay away from rookie quarterbacks. Mm. Bad. I don't know. Maybe not. That's one quarterback league, though, right? Yeah. See, I would I got to agree with you if I if I were in a fantasy league I don't want to give you my tips in case I end up in one well already drafted, so go ahead. I I would. If it was a two quarterback league I would take like a, you know, a season two player, but I love that Mac is like my back up for a second or, you know, put him in now. Especially now. You know, he's the starter, right? He's gonna look, He's gonna make mistakes, obviously, but he's also going to throw. He's the guy throwing the ball. He should every touchdown the Patriots get via the air is probably going to come off his arm. I would think so much unless you get the occasional Jacoby Meyers. I suppose Julian Edelman is not there anymore to throw touchdown passes, but I'm just saying so, so he's going to get your points, but I guess not as much, but you don't think Patriots are going to rely on him as heavily. The Patriots have a great Russian attack this year. The running backs look like they're going to be awesome and like it's one of the best position groups on the entire team, so I think they're gonna vulture. A lot of points had Cam Newton last year who had 12 touchdowns from like Inside the five rushing. You got to think those are all going to go to the running backs, for the most part that they're going to take someone, and I just don't Think that they're gonna You really utilized Mac and ferret out like crazy this year, but he stole a rookie start. A lot of there's gonna be some. There's going to be some bumps in the road. You know, those are going to be the guys that are getting the lion's share the load the most usage, the top targets, assuming, of course, John Smith and and always a caveat with Hunter, Henry. Those guys stay healthy. I think those are going to be the Primary targets for Mac Jones, especially, I mean, if you're you know, this is a rookie quarterback in the NFL, a young guy. It's a lot easier to really lean on that tight end position, then to you know, start to dink and dunk and throw in short slants and all of that with your wide receivers, but I really do think it's they're going to be You know, sort of smaller chunk plays moving the ball methodically down the field outlaw, you know, uh, a young Tom Brady. Strategically speaking, you know, in the system when it like long before he was throwing any sort of a Deep ball to Randy Moss or anything like that. I think that's you know what you want Mac Jones to be doing out there. I think they're not going to have a 1000 yard guy in terms of a receiver. You know Damien Harris out of the backfield, Sure, but a receiver. I don't think they're going to have 1000 yard guy and if they do I really think it's Jacoby Meyers. I think that he was really good last year, undrafted rookie, I think he showed some things once again in training camp and preseason action this year to me, that's their number one. It's Myers and you know you, you get the ball, obviously, to Kendrick born to Nelson AG, Lord, some of the other guys And get them. Their targets. Their catches their yards, but I think they're going to continue to have similar production to what they've done The past there more depth guys. I think that if you have 1000 yard guides, Jacoby Meyers What has ever happened to Nick, Ill. Harry. I love the kid on the collegiate level and thought the Patriots got to steal where they got them in the draft. He's produced next to nothing since he's gotten there and then Yeah, he ran his mouth in preseason, saying he was Desirous of being traded. You don't do that around Belichick. I thought for sure he would have gotten runoff. Sure enough, he's still there. But he's on the I R. To start to season. Do you have any chance to ever succeed in New England? That's the unfortunate thing with Nikki, Larry and and why, you know, borrowing a change. He's going to go down. It's just this massive bust of a first round pick is that You know, like you said he's produced next to nothing. The last couple of years. I mean, had one good game last year early in the year against Seattle, and when I say good game yet, like 75 yards or something like that, it's not like he went crazy and that was, you know, a career best game for him. Again as a first round pick who was picked ahead of the likes of DK Metcalf and AJ Brown and Deebo, Samuel and and guys like that. It's really disappointing this year. Obviously, the agent publicly request the trade He never really says anything about it. Other than positive things like this is where I am and I'm doing my job and want to be the best guy can be and yada, yada yada and honestly, until he got hurt, was the best player in camp in terms of wideouts. He was the absolutely no doubt about it the best Player day to day most consistent in training camp. But then again, the injury rears its ugly head once again, and you know this is someone who's as you said on IR for the first Few weeks of the season. He's so he's sidelined to set back again missed time in the preseason in terms of exhibition games, and I just I'd like to see him catch up. You know, I just It's hard to imagine that the train is going to leave the station without him again. And this is someone who's just it. Maybe he just does need a change of scenery. Maybe he's got what whatever it is. He's got some bad luck, some bad juju in New England and it just it has not worked out. All right, let me take a quick peek er deep Patriots schedule. They got Miami at home. Get things going. They almost always speak Miami at home. You'd prefer to play them in December when they're not used to the cold, but he got him first week of the season still be warmed up, but certainly a winnable game Jets the matchup of the two rookie quarterbacks the week after Down at Met Life. New Orleans coming in with no more do breeze on the road because they can't be at home. That's certainly a winnable game. Oh, and then the fourth week. You've got the bucks coming to down with that Brady guy. I'm going to guess that's a tough ticket to get in New England. What's it going to be like in the stadium that day? It depends on whether or not you like having a mortgage, I guess because, yeah, I mean, shelling out a lot of dough to get a ticket to that one, and it's going to be a huge one and You know, it's going to be like without a doubt. Unless Tom Brady really does play for X number more years like that. That will definitively be his His Final trip to Foxboro. You know, as a player, you know he's not going to play in that stadium again, and, uh Especially like it would have had juice clearly for just Tom's return. Going against Cam Newton. But now it's against, you know the former guy against the next guy. It's It's Tom Brady versus Mac Jones. And especially to your point like Let's Say they start the season three. You know which based on their schedule is very possible. It is. You know it's going. It's going to be insane. Now. Tom Brady is certainly not going to get booed. Keep in mind. Most Pats fans were rooting for him to win that championship last year. You know most fans are are very Prothom an anti bill based on how the That exit went down, You know, because it's not like Brady just left. You know, he wasn't offered a contract. He didn't choose Tampa over New England. New England wasn't an option for him that he was not Offered a deal. So he went he left. You know who could blame him? He was going to retire, so He's going to get an insane ovation as he should, and it's going to be crazy. But then you know games going to start and it's Then it's about business. Now. Maybe not in the stands. Maybe there will even be some people rooting for him over the Patriots that night because they're just so proton, but The players. You know, even the guys that obviously played with Brady. It's you know that it's all business at that point in time, and it's going to be just an insanely fun game to watch agreed, But I think part of the booing or tearing will be dictated by How the Patriots season started. You just pointed out. I ran it down for you. Oh, they could be three. You know, most likely there'll be one and two or two and one. But there is the outside possibility they could be owing three. And if that's the case, and Brady comes in and starts to light them up, it could get ugly in that building. It could. It could. Yeah. I mean, I had prefer not to think about that. But it's entirely possible. Obviously, that I can do that from afar. I know you can't do that. But I can do it from afar. I'm sorry to do it to you. No. I mean, look, even if they're whether oh, and 33 and or somewhere in between, Don't get me wrong. Most people fully expect that the Tampa win that night and you just hope that isn't a total shell..

"19 protocol, So he's going to have to be away from the facility until Thursday this week and operating virtually mad. I just want to know around the organization right now. Is there a level of frustration with the situation? That Cam has found himself in whether it was a misunderstanding or not. There has to be because obviously, there's got to be communication that takes place not only from the player but the organization and an understanding for what has to get done in order to keep yourself eligible, especially in the times that we live in with all the covid protocols, so There's got to be a level of frustration, especially when your you have your last full week of practice and preparation before you get in the season. And it's a pivotal time not only for the offence to continue to grow for Kim to build off that performance that he had in week two of the preseason and also just to build that momentum with those starters as you get ready to get, like I said in the week one, and it's just around the corner. That wears rookie Matt Jones at right now, in terms of development, and essentially what I'm getting at is if the Patriots would need him to go in week one. Do you think he's ready to take over an NFL offense, especially against the team like Miami to open the season? Right. I think that he's absolutely capable. I mean, we've watched him over the first two weeks and you can see the maturation process the growth even from week one to week two. He's operating well at the line of scrimmage. He's getting in and out of the huddle. He's get those guys set up. He's making his alerts his checks. He's identifying the fronts and making protection calls. As you can see when he makes specific points or redirects points is what we like to say. At the quarterback position, so he's done a great job and he's throwing the ball well, he started it accurately. He's doing it efficiently. They're moving the ball, so they've got to feel good about where he's at. Then again. Once real season starts, you know that that's the one thing about preseason is When you watch these preseason games, you have to take it with a grain of salt, because a lot of times the competition level in schematically speaking from a defensive standpoint, it's a lot more vanilla than what it's gonna be. When that team comes in, and you play week one and you start to see all the scheme, the disguise and everything else that goes along with the pro style defense, So there's a lot to the growth still, but at the same time Josh McDaniels has always done a great job of getting those guys prepared in, including myself when I stepped in, and I had to go in for Brady, Um, in 2000 and eight. You know, it wasn't that we ran the entire offense, but we did things that I was good at and then was able to grow within the offense and then eventually were able to get to a place. Where were the playbook was wide open. Matt Cassel, former NFL quarterback and NBC sports analyst, joining us here on Greeny, courtesy of the Goodyear Hotline when Bill Belichick talked about what would need to happen for anybody to effectively append Cam Newton At the quarterback spot. He talked about the fact of like, you know, the institutional knowledge that's there that you have to play better than Cam and I'm wondering is 3 to 4 practices. However many that Mac Jones is going to get where he's number. What the number one is that enough in your mind for the Patriots to see something to say? Yeah, that's the guy that we're going to go with week one over Cam Newton in spite of the absence. I don't believe so. I think that they've pretty much made up their mind that Cam Newton is going to be there started to start this season, and they're going to give them the opportunity to go out there and play again. Look, he had a whole year of experience within the system, and that also speaks to the point of last year with the lack of weapons that they had the wide receiver position in the tight end position in particular, and in this offseason, the moves that they made particularly on the offensive side of the ball. To go out and get guys like Nelson Jaguar. Kendrick born Jacoby Meyers has been there and he's continuing developed the to develop and impress and then you get guys like Johnny Smith and Hunter Henry at the tight end position, so The offensive dynamics have changed dramatically from what it was last year in terms of firepower, weapons, and now they want to see if camp thinks perform better, particularly in the passing game, right. He was very effective in the run game last year and what he was able to accomplish on the ground and this is going to be a run first team. There's no doubt about that. But now what they want to see Is the continued success in the past game and by doing that, marrying those two together with an effective run game, they can be really, really dynamic. But Cam is going to get the first nod, no matter what, whether or not, you know, Matt goes out there. And has three practices and they're all good practices. I still think that they'll start this season off with Cam Newton at quarterback. Rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars looked shaky in New Orleans last night on Monday night Football to be expected. Lawrence is a rookie and the Jaguars are rebuilding project, but that offensive line left a lot to be desired. When you have a big investment in a rookie quarterback like large, you want to make sure he's protected and has an opportunity to avoid the fate that befell Joe Burrow last season in Cincinnati. How troublesome is the offensive situation in Jacksonville right now, in your opinion? Well, it's very difficult. Any time you have a rookie quarterback. The first thing you want to do is protect him in. Jacksonville's not in a position right now where they've got a great unit up front, and therefore that puts a lot on Trevor Lawrence. And while he is Incredibly talented. From a physical standpoint, he's obviously got to grow within that system learns Sondheimer system and everything else that's going on. But at the same time he it's hard and you saw even last night where he's trying to make plays outside the pocket and force plays down the field just to get something going, And that is the double edged sword, you know, and it it will come up and sometimes you make those plays, But the other side of it is Lot of times, especially in this league results in a bad play or a turnover and we saw two possible turnovers last night that didn't didn't happen, but guys had their hands on the ball, and that's just a product of him. You know, trying to make something happen in which he's It's comes so easily for him in the college game, But he's going to have to be so much more diligent, and this is going to be a challenging year for him, particularly if that protection doesn't hold up. They're going to have to come up with ways to protect him. Whether it's the screen game, whether it's the pocket movement, changing the the launching point on these play, actions, passes and just somehow facilitate an offense and what you're protecting him..

"Powered by our exclusive wagering Partners at betonline.ag., We spoke to Patriots. Head coach, Bill, Belichick via Zoom this morning and Belichick was asked a question about how much stock he puts into his quarterbacks Cam, Newton and Mac, Jones rapping with the starters versus rapping, with the backups and Belichick, gave an interesting answer saying, control, what you can control guys, right? It doesn't matter. Who's out there with you, do your job and not see that and if the guy over here are guy over there breaks down, then that's not on you. So here's the head coach on why the Patriots players should not be wasting their time with thinking about who's out there on the field with them every practice. Well, with all the players from back in May when we started, which is the absolute truth is not to spend a lot of time worrying about who else is out there with you, worry about what you're doing and try to get it, right? And I think that's the most important thing for each and every one of us is if we would focus on wage job is how to do it. Well, how to do it better, how to improve on it again. That's all of us, coaches players, everybody. Like that's really what we're trying to do. And you know, spend a lot of time worrying about, who else is doing something else? And who else is out there? Or not out there? Whatever is honestly a total waste of time and energy and it's not productive. So we don't really worry about it along with speaking with Belichick. We also spoke to Patriots, wide receiver. Jacoby Meyers who had a very strong Day out here on Tuesday and Day to a joint practices and Meyers was asked a question about what it meant to have filled stretcher Nelson, agholor on the outside, allowing him to work those short and intermediate, which is the field that we know. He does so well and he was a big smile on his face Meyer said I loved it and he seemed to really dig. The fact that Nelson Aguilar got those safeties off of him. He also mentioned not born said that, that was the area's, the field that both him and born are going to be able to work this season and agholor, kind of puts the entire thing together. I think we saw that over the last two days, really come to fruition the fact that the Patriots didn't have Nelson, agholor in the preseason opener against Washington. Really showed how slow and stagnant, this offense can be without a legitimate deep threat on the outside. And these two practices against the Eagles agholor has been back in a lineup and you see a much more explosive Patriots offense, and you kind of see the pieces of the puzzle come to together a little bit more. We also spoke to running back, Sony Michelle, after practice, and Michelle, did admit that, he feels off. A bit more confident running routes coming out of the backfield. And we've certainly seen that over the last couple of weeks of training camp out here today, caught a couple of different passes from both, Cam Newton and Mac, Jones and Red Zone. 7 7. Sony looks a lot more confident, a lot more decisive with his route-running. He's a reliable underneath Target now on check downs and things out of the backfield. So, that's a good development for the Patriots. As we know over the years, been a little bit predictable with Sony Michelle on the back field, but maybe not so much this year. She's developed quite a bit as a receiver. I would say, the Christian Wilkerson steam. We always were on board with Christian Wilkerson and off the training camp hype. That he brought to the table. Well, it's losing some luster over the last few days. Christian Wilkerson, really fighting the football, couple of drops out here today. A couple of drops on Monday. He's really trying to catch the ball. All the sudden. He has the chips for drops and it's a little bit of a concern. If you're a guy that's trying to make the roster, you certainly still gets open. You certainly still flashes does route running abilities and explosiveness off the log. Scrimmage, but then when you finish the play, it's a little bit herky-jerky right now for Christian Wilkerson. So another Camp, favorite Wilkerson, maybe on the outside looking in, if you can't get over the hips with the drops out here at practice. You can check out the rest of our reaction from day to of joint practices with the Eagles on our YouTube channel Patriots, press pass. I also have some written work on the on the site ceiling is media.com and my notebook. Get a lot more reactions from day to here in.

"Seal on this 50 to receive a 50%, welcome bonus with your first deposit. Well, that that's what I've been saying, right? That's what I've been saying this whole time is that you can't go by the two letters. Next to the players name on the roster, it's just you're not looking at the whole picture that way, right? You have to look at how the tight ends are going to factor into the passing game and just there's, there's so many snaps, there's only so long naps to go around for everybody and if you add you know again Julio Jones was different because he's such an only talent but now you have people saying oh well they missed on Julio they should go sign and fax Golden Tate. Andy is Golden. Tate was when I think of India is a bit of Larry Fitzgerald whoever you know are any of those guys Monumental improvement over what they have? I don't know and you're not adding them, you're not you're not putting Jacoby Meyers Nelson agholor and Golden Tate out on the field of significant amount of the time. Because if you do that, then you're keeping one of your tight ends on the bench and that's Jim. Not a return on your investment for the money. You spent this offseason so I I, I get it. It's an adjustment, but it's going to be a 2 wide receiver offense. Do they have the best to wide receivers in the league? Know. Certainly not but I think the guys they have are one great fit for what they want to do and and fit can make a good player. Great right? Or I know people say lack of it can make a good player bad. I look at the other way. If you have a player who's a real life fitness system, it can truly Elevate that player I think they have a couple of guys who can do that and I think there's room to grow too. I think for Nelson agholor and Jacoby Myers. So again just I trust the tide ends I trusted and I'd rather go down with that ship than panic and give up a talent and sacrifice all this cap space for Julio Jones when you may not ultimately need. Um, yeah, it's that was the plan, right? This is jue Lan, and it's a viable plan on paper. It's not a plan that we have seen this succeed here before the grounded, Aaron Hernandez. And it's a plan that has worked in the NFL before. So let's log. Fail, before we start saying that, the plan is no good because it's a legitimate plan on paper. To make the receivers in the weapons around, whoever is playing quarterback better than it was the last two years. So let's give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Let's talk some OTAs Patriots. Now, third week of OTAs, we're getting into sort of the ramped-up. Devin McCourty off on those two guys reported yesterday. So we're starting to see. I was actually really surprised just a side note. I was actually really surprised to see Devin McCourty voluntary OTAs, somebody just so vocal in the Players Association..

"Get the band together was good band, though, so that's part of the reason why we go to the Western hotline and checking with the Patriots. Maybe get some ideas about how their weapons look and how it could look with Julio Jones added to the mix as we bring in Patriots beat reporter Evan Lazar. And ah, chat with him about what's going on with New England, Evan of Ah The Patriots beat podcast. Good morning. Thanks for joining us, Jeremy White silk about you with you. How are you? I'm doing Well, thanks for having me guys. So, Evan, How real. Do you think the Patriots interest in Julio Jones is? And how much would it mean for that offense to get a receiver added to the group. They signed they they signed some big money contracts. Not exactly big names this offseason, though. Yeah, you know. Look, I think in any other offseason when you're operating with Bill Bella, check if you think about giving away $15 million to a wide receiver plus Draft capital to get the wide receiver in the trade. You would say no way. There's no way that that fella check would pull off a trade like that, unless it was such a bargain in the trade that they're trading 1/5 round pick for Julio Jones or something like that. But assuming it's gonna be at least a second Normally would say no way That Bill would do that. But I would have said no way That Bill would have done a lot of things that he did so far this offseason. Right? You know, you go in free agency you spend $300 million drafted quarterback in the first round. Lot of these things. They're uncharacteristic of Bill balletic. So at this point, I think that he's all in. I think that he's kind of pissed off and sort of going, you know, in a different direction in terms of He normally does because of what happened last year because of Brady winning the Super Bowl, So I think that there's a lot of their possibilities that are now on the table that maybe in a normal bill. Bella check Mindset wouldn't be on the table, and I think that includes Tulio Town. They go out. They draft Mac Jones in the first round. We know that Cam had some struggles last year. Jeremy's hot take for the NFL this morning on the air is he does not believe Cam Newton shot now He might not be M V P level Cam Newton anymore, but Jeremy thinks it's a little bit overblown, and people have to be Ready for Cam to have a bounce back. So you know what's the feeling in New England? It's feeling with you personally about where Cam is and how much he can he can do this year and even staving off Mack Jones playing I would say the feeling the overwhelming feeling in New England. Every space top of my Twitter mentions and forth radio here in New England is that Kim is pretty much shot right? And I think a lot of that has to do it. In fact, That when you go from watching Tom Brady for 20 years, and then you get to a quarterback like Cam last year, who really struggled, throwing the football, It's just such a drop off. And there's such a major difference between one tight to the other curbs, mechanics and timing and accuracy and all these types of things that make Brady great cam is a definite different player and a little bit more of an inconsistent thrower. Certainly so I think that a to hard I test the past when you go from one guy that the other like that now, So I think that he could be better yet. I think that what they've done around him is pretty much make sure that What happened last year with him throwing who he was throwing you look a lot last year, his top options worth a mere burden. Jacoby Meyers and no offends to those players. But Hunter Henry Johnny, Miss Nelson, angular and country for in their big free agent signings in terms of pass catchers. Are all better than those players are at this stage of their careers, so they have better weapons. It's definitely a cautious optimism from me that what those better weapons with is still good offensive line and running game that Cam overall will be better. I also wouldn't sleep on the moves that they've made on the defensive side of the ball, either. No, They haven't much better football team now, So I think Patriots fans are cautiously optimistic that this thing is going to turn himself around quickly. But there is certainly a lot of clamoring already for Mack Jones to get under center. I think they can win with Cam. I'm sorry, Jimmy. What I said to Jeremy, though, when he said that is I think they can win with Cam, but they might have to do it kind of like they did in that bills game last year with a almost one in Buffalo, except for the punch out at the end. By Justin Zimmer. 24 21 Cam throws for less than 200 runs for a touchdown. But there's little margin for error there, Evan to do that, and it reminds me of the Ravens and why they have a ceiling on them. Yeah, it's a great point. I think that's what we saw. Last year. It was that dude to cans, I would say struggles with grasping things in the offense and timing within the offense. Look, there was a lot to be made about his mechanics and his footwork and the dirt falls in the inaccuracies and things like that, But Really what it was, is that Cam was coming into it offense That was 20 years in the making and trying to insert himself into it and a wacky off season with a lot, not a lot of prep time leading up to it. And the passing game elements has never came to fruition for him. You know the timing of the throws the timing through his progressions, understanding pre snap how to protect himself with the protections or Being able to audible out of bad plays, or whatever the case may be. A lot of those types of mental things just never really clicked for Cabinet in last year, and if you can get those types of things down, then I think what he could be better than he was last year. Even if his throwing motion and his mechanics they're still a little bit inconsistent at times and his accuracy still a little bit inconsistent at times. But again is that Bill game? I think is sort of their formula like he said with Cam and they won seven games there, you know, with Cam under center. Last year. So I I guess maybe you could talk yourself into been adding a couple of wins of the moves that they've made this offseason, but certainly whether he, you know, the floor is probably lower with Mack Jones also, but I think it's fair to say that the feeling Potentially be higher with Mack Jones just because of the type of pastor that he is. Avenues are of Patriots Pete Podcast, So you talk about this a lot. I don't want to get your thought on it Do Patriots fans in the post Brady era. As you pointed out, they say, Cam shot. Probably everything is viewed through post Brady glasses and Mack Jones. It's probably not gonna be fun to be viewed through post Brady glasses. You know, three games into his career will be. I don't think this kid has it. Du patron fans argue with each other about kind of resetting their own standard for what a player especially at the quarterback position should be. I don't think so. I think everybody has a pretty high standard here. Now that that's what I would like them to do. You know, that's what I try to kind of argue for when we do our stuff. Hey, look, you know, no one's gonna be is gonna Brady. We know that and secondly, that there's different ways to be successful, and I think that's the biggest thing and Mac might be. Little bit Maurin that Brady Illston let's say cameras, but Cam can be successful. It's just not gonna be the same type of road as their same type of path as it was with Tom Brady because he's not going to just stand there in the pocket and go through 123 in the progression and get the ball out of 2.5.

"All up and down the board on the odds for comeback Player of the year. It's deck. Prescott. Nick Bosa Christian McCaffrey sake on Barclay Joe Burrow. Those the top guys on comeback player of the year. Von Miller is on the board here is well Odell Beckham. No. If they're an award for Wow, you really look like your career was over and then had a decent season. I think he might. It's a lot. It's a lengthy you award for a title. I think that might be what we're looking at. I expected I think he'll be okay. And for the point about You know, running and being the way they want to be. They did almost beat the bills that way once And you know if if they could take it split with the bills, But they would take that right and the bills would be disappointed by a split with the Patriots. So I think that everything you're saying is logical and makes a lot of sense. I think really, what this gets too to me is I keep seeing that game in Buffalo Week eight last year. Where the Bills 1 24 21 on the Justin Zimmer Punch out DeMarlo falls on the fumble of Cam Newton. That to me is the blueprint. How the Patriots want to win every game like that they want. They want to win that way, and I'll give you Cam's numbers in that game, okay? 15 of 25 174 yards, No touchdowns, No interceptions. Like if that's if that's what he is. Is that sustainable for them to win? Well, by the way, he ran. Nine times for 54 yards and a touchdown in that game. So Cam Newton goes 1 74 no turnovers. No touchdown passes through the air runs for another 54. We're looking at what to 20 to 30 total. Touchdown. Can they win a lot of games that way? I think the answer is yes. I think they can. But as I always say in this room, this is why it reminds me the Ravens Jeremy, because I always say. That leaves you very little margin for error, And when you either get behind or you make a couple mistakes, it is too hard to overcome that, and that's why you have a ceiling on how far you can go. There's one big difference, though, that 1 74. What is it if it's Johnny Smith and Hunter Henry? I mean, look even specific to the builder. Sure when he hears Yeah, Here's the leading receivers that day. Jacoby Meyers, 58 Dimier Bird 39 James White 35 in yards is Oh, 24 zur Thomas Exactly. Myers Bird White ISO Zubrin Birkhead and you know there's some bills fans that think that the bills had real problems with tight ends, which No Travis Kelsey might Kasicky. They had some problems with their tight ends. New England wanted a great one, an offense that used tight ends they drafted to and neither one of them made a difference. And then they went out. They signed two of the best so I just think that I think those those tight and signings are transformational for that offense and for Newton and for Mack Jones. Even Mac Jones in last year's Patriots offense versus Mac Jones in this year's Patriots offense with those two tight ends, how they can scheme them and again if they had Julio. It's another big ad for them. They have the space. He says he wants to win. This is where we get we can have a little fun. You say you want to win? What does that mean? The title or mortgage aims in Atlanta? You know, in Atlanta, It's gone south after they went to the Super Bowl and should have won it. So does I want to win me and I want to be on one of the four best teams Wanna go to Green Bay and go to Buffalo and gonna can't city Tennessee might be in the mix there. How many teams can feasibly say? Oh, you want to win. Hand up. That's us, probably like seven or eight. May be right. I mean, The Rams. Are we talking the Rams? We're talking I think, though, when he said to me like when I hear a player say that I mean, they haven't been to the playoffs since 2017. That's okay. They were in for a couple years. Okay into Leo's Curry came in 2011. They did go to a couple of playoffs the first two years, then They miss Miss Miss. Make make Miss Miss Miss, So that's twice out of 12345678 years. They've been to the playoffs and I think he's probably saying, Look, I need to be in the playoffs morning needed at least have a chance to get to the Super Bowl. Yeah, but what's what's odd to me, and I brought this. So what Mike and Chris yesterday like The Falcons have not operated like a team. That's not. It's weird to me because they didn't replace Matt Ryan. I heard it very good. Offensive minded I had coached. By the way, Arthur Smith. They drafted a guy that's going to Take even more attention away and maybe give Julio even more opportunity because they have Kyle pits. They have a really good receiving corps. I'm not telling you. The Falcons are good. I don't think they're all that good. But It's not like they operated this offseason the way that they're completely rebuilding. So this is kind of weird for me to him or him to say that because you think and maybe there is something with him in that, Ryan, but They're trying to give it a run here. Yeah. Atlanta was in a tough spot. Quarterback would've been a good idea. But if they really think I'll pitch is the unicorn, Then you say, all right, we'll wait till next year for the quarterback, right? But Calvin Ridley isn't is. Ah, true. Number one. I believe Calvin releases her number one and Kyle pitches there. If you trade Julio for like a second round pick. I don't know if you're getting better. You're doing it for cap reasons. And then you're You know? How many wins. What you're looking for is the division is the is the wild card available? Are there Smith's a good offensive mind? The Falcons problems have not generally been offense. It's been their defense has been a mess for quite a long time. So they're they're interesting and where Julio goes for a second round pick if that's ultimately what it is. No. Doesn't change the landscape of league, but it might. It might alter Green Bay, right. If if Green Bay gets Julio Jones, they rocked Davante Adams and Julio Jones, then that's pretty darn good. Aaron Rodgers would be pretty happy about that. But we've got Aaron Rodgers comments by the way he spoke about the Packers. He said something to Kenny Mayne about what's going on up there, and we'll get to those those comments in a little bit 803 or 5 50. All right, so there is mine. There's my hot. Take my prediction tonight. We did this out. I've got more responses to my take on Cam Newton. Then my asking of what's your bold prediction? What's your hot take so You know, three or 5 50. Let's have it. The one when we come back, I'll give you a quick when we come back, But it's not super hot, but it's something I've been thinking a little bit about. Okay. Able three old 5 50. "I do think Ben's coming back. I'm inclined to say the Steelers, so I don't think that's gonna happen because I think Ben's gonna come back. In the fancy. I'm going to say it's either patriots of the Colts. Both are in the market for quarterbacks. And then in the NFC Washington's football team for Jamis. I think that would be great. But then we talk about Cam. Who knows around who knows Cam Newton and better than Ron Rivera. So maybe Cam goes in the And plays for Iran repair, But then you could also say, Well, why did wrong very bring him in last offseason wasn't because they had to least try to attempt to give Dwayne Haskins a shot. How much can this year do? I think Kim has a lot left in the tank. I'm not saying it's all in camp. That report in on offense. Couldn't even name some of those wide receivers when bird and you know you had a gentleman who's hurt, you know, elements really good, But you bird that, um, that was playing to Kobe. My ears don't care what Pff says. That guy's not a great wide receiver. The FTC Pff Adam is a top 25 wide receiver this year. Jacoby Meyers. No, I'm really that this was like a month ago, I saw that I don't even mention it cause Pff gives you some really good stats. And then there's there's some head scratchers. Sites in the agency. For the Jamesway Ah Church Colts. And the Patriots. In the NFC. I think Washington would be a good fit. And if you could get a cheap deal So the bears. It's tough to make much of a commitment. I'm let's rather have James Winston, the midst. Robiskie if you're asking me So throw the Saints out there, maybe the saints to bring him back. But if you throw him out there, that's kind of how I look at the James Winston market. All right. Would you agree with this? After I know we got a break. But after the dish on Watson situation gets figured out when you're all these teams looking for whoever could be available quarterback I'd rather take a shot on Jamous not having to give up anything but money. Then Sam Donaldson. Then Jimmy Jean. I would. I would take a flyer on James, depending on what the cost is. Are you on board with that? Like, I rather Jamison Cam 100% like you said, no trade value of to give up for Sam Donald. And for the price. He's the best bang for your buck. Yeah, right. I can't wait to see how many trades go down with Sam with Jimmy G. Carson Wentz. You go and then free agency. Where's Fitz? Magic going? Where's Jamis? Winston Going? It's this is gonna be wild. "The quarterback passed for a season high three touchdowns ran for a season high 79 yards. His 49 yard run was the longest ever buy pants Q. B And then he did something no New England signal caller had ever done in the blood off of them. They look it too. Myers, who will throw it to Cam Newton. He's opening time Pete to Nan's Oh touchdown. Patriots former college quarterback turned the NFL receiver Jacoby Meyers hit Newton for the 19 yards score. And it was an extra special moment for Myers, who grew up idolizing Newton in their native Georgia means a lot to me. You know something? Hopefully he won't forget. Something I definitely won't forget. It was a pretty special moment be overthrown The touchdown pass just life. You see that full circle kind of moment. There's something definitely going on to. Ironically, Myers through for a pair of TGS this year, but never caught. One. Adam Kaufman, WBC Boston's news radio, 11 13, Let's go back to the roads now in traffic and weather together. "Course I'm season way has a team of played. Well, we didn't know what would happen today. Sand part for Miami is after a special season. They are left on the sidelines Come playoff time. The Colts win, not them out their season ends. Attendant six. New England wrapped up their season with a win. They beat the New York Jets, 28 to 14 Cam Newton three, threw three touchdown passes and caught one from Jacoby Meyers as the Patriots and their season at seven and nine. The other side, the Jets nightmarish season in which they want just two games. Sam Donald throws for 2 66 and a touchdown on the day after the game. We found out that Adam Gates, their head coach, when nine and 23 over these last two seasons has been let go is the New York Jets head coach. Kansas City rested their regulars today and the Chargers came in Arrowhead and beat him by a score of 38 to 21. Chad Henny. It was the first start since 2014. Last time he started Justin Herbert was still in high school. Herbert threw for 302 yards and three scores on the day today as Chargers wrap up their season at seven and nine. Kansas City still the number one overall seed. They will take next week off and wait for their opponent the following week in the divisional round and Las Vegas Raiders Gotta win in their final game to be Denver today and empower Field at Mile High. 32 to 31. Josh Jacobs had a couple of touchdowns. Darren Waller. What kind of a you did he have? Nine catches 118 yards, including a receiving touchdown in the second quarter in a game winning two point conversion there. A car throws for 3 71 in a couple of scores. Brandon McManus had a 63 yard potential game winning field goal blocked with two seconds left to go. Because we said Vegas ends up in 88, Denver five and 11 2 locked in for 3 39 and a couple of scores. Melvin Gordon went for 93 yards and Jerry Judy good news for Denver fans. "Carries for 79 yards, and he also in that Russian category had 49 yards and one carry, which is a new Patriots record for a quarterback. Or in terms of largest rushing total in terms of one play, and also he went over the yard. Marty art market yardage markets You mark I should say for most yards in a season for Patriots quarterback rushing Richard said. 404 yards total offense today and Cam Newton 321 total. Okay for those 404 yards. Sony Michelle 8 to 16 carries 76 yards. And Jacoby Meyers had a very good game this afternoon in terms of receiving as she had six receptions for 68 years. He also threw four touchdown. Sam Donaldson is gonna be interesting to see what the Jets do it. Sam barrels. 23 of 34 to 66 touchdown and two interceptions and down far as the Patriots defensively. JC Jackson had his night interception for the year. Rich so Patriots season ends. With the first year without a playoff since 2008 and a lot of rebuilding for this Patriots team, But I have a hunch with Bill Belichick with built with the builder in charge here. I'm not sure that it's going to be blocking our long before the Patriots get back to the playoffs couldn't be a better way to head to the playoffs for the Bills, 13 and three there three minutes and 26 seconds away from having their season and or the regular season. I should say, and it's on the playoffs, but water resounding finished to their season. Here's Paul Hamilton. Yeah, There's 3 to 52 left to go here in the fourth quarter, and the Dolphins are driving is a matter of fact, they're more than driving. They just got a touchdown by Malcolm Perry on the reception. From two and that's going to make it 56 to 25 nice passed by two of their butt. I think the shocking thing about this game is how the Dolphins were pretty much a complete no show in this game A and that's not their team. I mean, they have won some games this year that they probably shouldn't have one because You know, I think they've done brining floors has done more with less talent than a lot of folks have and I just don't the maid. This is just an anomaly for the Dolphins. But it's unfortunate for Miami fan that on the most important game of the year. Miami Dolphins are a no show is there'll trailing the bills 56 26 basically getting a couple of scores late. How the Bill's got to 56 is the one play, Dr Gave Davis right down the middle of the field. Barkley related in their form, is still had to make a pretty good catch hit him in stride, and the 56 yard touchdown for him gave Davis on the game has two catches for 107 yards. And a touchdown. None of the bills are in double figures in rushing Boss Elite eight yards. Singletary Elliott, seven, both on three carries, except the kid. Antonio Williams in his first NFL game is 10 carries. 51 yards and two touchdowns. Josh Allen played the first half of 1, 18 and 25 to 24. Well, here's to a 35 of 58 for 361 Yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Devante Parker, seven catches for 1 16. All those catches except one came in the second half, but it's just the turnovers. Miami had to turn over that ledge of the Davis touchdown. Mac Collins with a catch. Fumbles. The ball knocked out of there by Andre Smith. Justin Zimmer falls on the ball one play later, the bills have another touchdown, so the turnovers have killed the Dolphins, interceptions, fumbles and they just have not been sharp it all in this game. Asai mentioned there was just no zest in him. No passion in their game. They just looked like they were here, uh, to finish out the season and you know they're looking for a playoff win, and now they're gonna have to hope for a Jacksonville win over Indianapolis to get into the playoffs. That's their only way in right now, with the no show here in Buffalo to 45. Left to go. The onside kick was recovered by Gabe gave us so buffalo of the ball. Look, we lost Paul Hamilton there, but that one well in hand. Congratulations. The futility is over in Cleveland. They are on the playoffs on the road to the playoffs For the first time since 2002 knocking off the Steelers 24 to 22. The Giants have just picked off Denny. Cowed by any cap and the Dalton half they hold a 23 19 lead. A minute 15 left, so they're their own 20 yard line. Dallas is all three timeouts left. So the Giants just need to pick up a first down here to end this one. In the meantime, let's go to Denny Camp in what has been the most entertaining game of the day, and it is now over Denny. I'll take Andy Dalton's paycheck today. Hey, Minnesota Vikings escaped forward field with a 37 35 when beating the Lions for the seventh consecutive time. By far the most entertaining games so far today and room play a lot of credit the Matthew Stafford for playing it out as he did very banged up with an ankle rib injury and a thumb injury. I gave the Lions all he could today, throwing a couple of touchdown passes. Tol Marvin Jones. And on the day Stafford finishing 20th 31 for 293 yards, three touchdowns and a picked Ah, lots of wonder about in the off season. Does Stafford stay here in Detroit or just the next GM, trade him and try to get value for him? Lions going to be picking it looks like in the top six or top five pick in the upcoming draft. Obviously, Josh Fields might be of interest. But then again, this team needs roughly seven linebackers. So You know, if they trade down and get some defense, it probably wouldn't hurt them. The Lions gave up the most points and most yards and franchise history over the course of a season, thanks to Kirk Cousins running it in from a yard out the game winning touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. S so there's a lot to look back at and a lot to look forward to is what the Lions moves are in the next week or two. They're gonna be stealing a lot of headlines in there. GM and head coaching search for the Vikings. They finished Seven and nine. But another season without the playoffs, and Minnesota has some soul searching to do is well but again, the most entertaining game of the day so far here in Detroit. If you had a chance at the watch it you enjoy that Vikings escaped 37 35 okay and and entertaining game in New York, where the Giants have the four point lead. Wayne Goldman had picked up the first down but dropped the football and there is some question. The ruling on the field is that the Cowboys have it. But obviously all turnovers that all plays within two minutes of left of the game are subject to review. So they're going to go take a look at this one. But if the Cowboys have it, they have very good field position. They have two timeouts left under a minute left, trailing the Giants by four. Now in Goldman's defense, Not that fumbling is excusable. But it is a very wet day today in the New York area that could have caused the problem, but he slipped out of a jail in Smith tackle. And the ball just squirted free, and he seemed to have had it early. But I'm not sure how they're going to rule. This one. Here is the Cowboys have the ball on the ruling on the field again. It'll be subject to review while they're reviewing it. Let's check in with Bruce Morton in Denver, where the Broncos are ending a disappointing season against their longtime rival. The Raiders, who had a Awful run to the finish your Bruce I act by the way in Denver this week, is known as Raider Week. It sounds like something from your high school or mine, but they keep doing it the week before the Raiders come in his radar wake like that's a big deal. But this game is not a big deal. Las Vegas at one time was six and three,.

Jackson not being voted in has some other players around the league, voicing their frustration on Twitter like Philadelphia Eagles corner, Darius Slay, who was a three time pro bowler himself. He made Jacoby Meyers tweeting in part eight picks and didn't make the Pro Bowl. Wow. Miami Dolphins ship wide receiver to the New England Patriots

"A four game losing streak, the Patriots prepare for their Monday night match up with the New York Jets. One of the teams bright spots during the recent struggles has been wide receiver Jacoby Meyers. He's been able to snag 10 catches over his last two games after receiving more playing time due to the injuries of wide receivers Julian Edelman and Mikael Harry. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniel spoke today about Myers. Always ready to go, You know, always ready to take advantage of the opportunities that she's given. And I thoughtyou Kobe did a nice job on Sunday and being ready to go. She's you know. Encouraged by what he's been able to do, and I look forward to continue to grow and improve with him as we move forward, and the Patriots did make a trade today, acquiring wide receiver Isaiah Ford from the Miami Dolphins in return for a 2022 7th round pick.
